The Effects Of Natural Resources On The Environment
Since the Industrial Revolution, natural resources have been under increasing pressure. The significant
changes in the amount of natural resources we have left have led to many issues, such as global public
health and global development. Other areas affected include the loss of forest, water and air pollution,
decrease in fresh water supply and degradation of soil. Today we are currently seeing dramatic
increases in global population. As the world s population continues to rise, natural resources will
continue to dwindle as long as we remain the same. The one thing that I would say is the most
challenging for humans is being able to advance in life, but still not destroy the environment. If you
look at most developed countries, it is evident that they consume resources way more rapidly than
developing countries. The problem with this is that all of these countries are consuming faster than
they can produce. Places like Africa and Asia are experiencing population momentum. These areas
have a tendency for population growth that continues to grow because of the high concentration of
people having kids. Better living conditions are definitely needed in these countries because of the
limited amount of resources being consumed by these regions. The over exploitation of these
resources will eventually lead to problems for future uses. As population increases, the need to expand
becomes more evident. The huge consumption and need for more food, land, water, and energy have

Analysis Of The Lynching Of Emmett Till
The documentary, narrative The Lynching of Emmett Till by Christopher Metress, tells Emmett s story
of death through various points of view. On August 24, 1955, Emmett Till, a fourteen year old African
American boy from Chicago, entered a rural grocery store of Money, Mississippi. Because the young
child had been gloating about his bond with white people up north, his southern cousins had dared him
to go into the store and say something to the women working the register. Emmett accepted their
challenge; seconds later he was at the counter, set on purchasing two items. What he did or said next
will never be known for sure, but whatever passed between these two strangers from two different
worlds set off a chain reaction that would forever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the subject of this novel is stated through various viewpoints of information and is
understood by all audiences. In addition, the mood of the story is mysterious, unsettling, and chilling.
In particular, when the author describes the murder of Emmett that is enough visualization to send
chills down the reader s spine. Also, the tone of the author throughout the novel is solemn and gloomy.
Lastly, not only is the novel informant: it s also educational at the same time.
In conclusion, Emmett Till was a young boy who was born in a time that was rough for African
Americans. Also, Christopher Metress is a published author and college professor whose ideas are
linked with readers, worldwide. Sixty years later, at a time when race relations are once more at the
front of the American mind, Till s name is still adducing as a reminder of the worst consequences of
ignoring the problem. Accidentally, his story has inspired a regeneration of historians and scholars.
Everyone has the right to have happiness in life and should not be oppressed by discrimination.
In the year 1955, white men in the Mississippi Delta lynched a fourteen year old from Chicago named
Emmett Till. His murder was part of a massive wave of white terrorism in the wake of the 1954
Supreme Court decision that declared public school segregation unconstitutional. Five years later,
Black students launched sit in campaigns that turned the struggle for civil rights into a

Analysis Of The Book Outremer By Nabil Saleh
The thirteenth century showed a lot of tension between religious and political groups and leaders. The
church in those days had more power and control over the state. One religious tension in particular
was the hatred between Cathars and Catholics. While they both came from the Christian religion, the
Cathars had different beliefs and a different leading system than the Catholics, and the Catholics saw
the Cathars as heretics. The Cathars were overrunning the French land of Languedoc, and so a series
of wars started between the French Catholics and the Languedoc Cathars. In the book, Outremer, by
Nabil Saleh, we are introduced to many characters, religions, and relationships. It gives us a look at
how the different religions, political leaders, and families connected with or lived beside one another.
In my opinion, Outremer shows more religious tension than political tension during the thirteenth
century, but still it does not show the reality and full effect of the tension. From the beginning of the
book, we are shown the tension between Christians and Cathars when Aimeric s father sends him on a
mission to travel to Tyre and kill King Philip of Montfort. There is hatred between the two religions
from events that happened years ago, and the Cathars still want revenge on the Christians. Although
the main character, Aimeric, accepts his father s mission, he ends up meeting people from different
religions and getting along with them as if they were of his own family.

The Cultural Celebration Of Puerto Rico
When we are young, we don t pay much attention to our family culture food traditions. Maybe we do,
but most of the times we enjoy them, more than knowing the feeling behind that specific plate or the
hard work that take to prepare a good family tradition dinner that one can remember even when many
years had passed. Food tradition defines our culture. Not only defines our culture, but give us a special
connection with our culture and a connection with our family members in the distance and also can
evoke great memories with your family. Many different culture, celebrates Christmas different way,
but if you haven t celebrated Christmas in Puerto Rico, you can t understand the importance role
between food and music as part of this cultural celebration.
December is here. The family gathering is approaching. Living on a tropical Island, in the countryside
waking up with the aroma of coffee in a nice breezy morning, the noise of the chicken, dogs barking,
pigs, and horses on the top of the mountain is normal. But it is December 20th and there is an irregular
noise outside, and when Juan walks outside he sees an old man wearing a big hat, boots, and farm
clothing, his face and body was covered with blood and hair, but also there was a strong smell outside.
That was when he notice the old man was killing pigs in a nice sunny morning. You can hear the pig
crying, you can see blood everywhere not only on the old man, but there were big blood splashes in

A Speech On The And Chill
So, was that a yes or a no? He asks while looking at me, his beautiful brown eyes scanning my face. I
still can t believe that I m actually going to be stuck with him for 3 hours. Annoying dipshit. His
words earlier echo through my head: Just go. I don t want to see you EVER again. I groan at the
thought. Ugh, Talk about seeing his face again. He waits for me to respond while I stay silent. I ll take
that as a yes then, Dude. You seriously need to chill, Yes. Netflix and Chill, He chuckles wolfishly. Oh
come on, how are you going to repay me for wetting my shirt with your hot ass tea? With the way that
he acts, It seems to me that he didn t give a damn about the pretzel stand incident anymore which is
truly relieving for me. No. You need to repay me because my pretzels got thrown on the floor. Those
were fucking expensive little balls of dough! I defend. By the way, I did say sorry, But you were just
being an ass earlier, Touché... I guess were even then? His perfect lips opened a beautiful smile
revealed his perfect white teeth that I wish, I, myself owned. Yep, There was a sullen pause between

Chipotle also has a very stable financial situation. Currently, their balance sheet contains $301 million
in cash and just $3.81 million in debt exhibiting a high coverage ratio. They also operate at margins
much higher than most of the restaurant industry with a profit margin of 9.43%. Average restaurant
sales have stayed somewhat consistent over the past three years with a very slight increase to about
$1.8 million, but restaurant and company level margins have been increasing consistently since 2005
with restaurants now operating at a 26.4% margin. All this has lead Chipotle to believe that they will
open about 140 new restaurants in 2010 which is a significant jump from the 67 openings in the year
ending September 30, 2010.
Chipotle is unique in the restaurant business for several reasons. First it has a very distinct plan for its
ingredients. In 1999, Steve Ells started Chipotle s emphasis on A Food With Integrity by serving
naturally raised pork in 2000 and naturally raised chicken in 2002; now 100% of Chipotle pork and
chicken is naturally raised. In 2004, Chipotle also started using zero trans fat frying oil. Emphasis was
also put on naturally raised beef in 2009 and so now 85% of beef is naturally raised and by 2007 all
sour cream and cheese products were rBGH free. Ells crusade for more humane and

Pros Of A Conscientious Objector
In this essay I will talk a little bit about conscientious objector. First of all what is a conscientious
object? Well a conscientious objector where the eligible men who opposed to serve in war because it
was against their deeply held moral or religious belief.
The first thing a person can think and ask is why they didn t want to serve in war and help their
country. There were many reasons some of them are for example religion and moral values. Men didn
t want to carry a weapon and kill people, some came to their beliefs on historic peace church. Actually
the ones from religion where more on consideration because of their beliefs, but the ones that didn t
want to go were punished.

Every year, 15th May marks International Conscientious Objector day is a day to celebrate those who
have and those who continue to resist war, especially by refusing to be part of military structures.
As an opinion actually there was nothing wrong about refusing to join the army everyone has the right
to say aa simple no. it s understandable that in that period of time the military forced needed help
because they were having a rough time at war but they have to understand that men were scared and
that for them killing someone really meant something it wasn t as simple as that. It wasn t fair to
punish the conscientious objectors it wasn t fair to put them in jail or a death sentence. I appreciate
every men that refuse to kill because that means that they were good people. And those who served in
the army are good too but that doesn t mean they are better than the ones that didn t went to combat. I

Hydraulic Jump Experiment Essay
Hydraulic Jump Experiment
SUMMARY
The Objective of this experiment is to observe the flow patterns and behaviour of the water before
after the jump Also to quantify the energy lost due to a hydraulic jump. The observed and theoretical
ratios of upstream and downstream depths will be compared, this will show the limitations to purely
theoretical analysis.
The experiment showed that a hydraulic jump occurs when when liquid at high velocity discharges
into a zone of lower velocity, a rather abrupt rise occurs in the liquid surface. The rapidly flowing
liquid is abruptly slowed and increases in height.
The results clearly show the limitations of purely theoretical and purely experimental analysis due to
the range of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hydraulic jump occurs when the supercritical flow occurs in a channel of which normal flow
condition is subcritical.
h2/h1 = ½ (√(1+8F12 ) 1) (4)
The Froude number is calculated using this equation:
F1 = √(q2/gh12) (5)
The hydraulic jump, also known as standing wave, is a rapid transition from supercritical flow to
subcritical flow. The transition is generally a turbulent process with a significant energy loss(∆E). that
can not be neglected. A hydraulic jump is commonly used to dissipate energy, and reduce the
downstream velocity.
To calculate the specific energy at the two separate heights this equation is used:
E = h1 + q2/2gh12 (6)
The total energy loss can be derived as
ΔE = E1 E2 (7)
To find the height of the jump between the smallest and largest heights:
Δh = h2 h1 (8)
Finally, the length of the hydraulic jump is given by:
L = 5Δh (9)

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Digital Photography
In a world where everything is digital and photographs are normally taken with the digital cameras,
but there are number of photographers who are still shooting with film or there are some who are
newly interested in film formats.
Below are some pros and cons that I have discussed to evaluate the difference between Film and
Digital photography, respectively.
ADVANTAGES OF DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
1. You ll never have to pay for film or processing again
2. You don t have to wait to see the captured shot, you can view the shot immediately after taking the
photograph.
3. You can easily choose the images you want to print and the images can be easily be deleted that you
don t like.
4. You can record video with the digital cameras.
5. You can easily store the images.
6. You can continuously shoot with digital camera as you don t have to worry about the film.
7. You can delete the shot immediately after capturing the photo that ... Show more content on

With an ability to shoot thousands of photos without the expensive need for film, and you can press the
preview button anytime to make sure the desired shot was taken, and there is no need to spend hours
in processing film, scanning, or printing in a darkroom. And you can that If you are not patient and
want instant satisfaction, film photography is not for you. But if you love the anticipation of
developing a roll of film to see the results, watching a photograph develop on paper in front of your
eyes, and the satisfaction of knowing what you created without the simplistic and robotic motions of a
computer, then film photography is perfect for you. It is not like that you are a better photographer if
you shoot with digital camera or film, in the end the only thing matters is the ability of the person
behind the camera to capture the image. So we can say that the it only depends on the person whether
he wants to use digital camera or film

Obsession In Into The Wild, By Jon Krakauer
Obsession is the single most wasteful human activity, because with an obsession you keep coming
back and back and back to the same question and never get an answer (Norman Mailer). In Into the
Wild by Jon Krakauer tells the story of Chris McCandless. McCandless came from a loving family
consisting of his father Walter, mother Billie, younger sister Carnie, and family dog Buck. At a young
age McCandless liked to keep to himself and was a little bit antisocial. However he still got along well
with all the other kids in school, he had many friends and almost all the kids loved him. The whole
antisocial personality seemed nothing more than a phase. Despite receiving both physical and mental

him, his excitement had gotten the best of him and believed he was getting wiser and stronger. The
dominant primordial beast was strong in Buck, and under the fierce conditions of trail life it grew and
grew. Yet it was a secret growth. His newborn cunning gave him poise and control (38). McCandless
believed as he continued with journey he was becoming more invincible despise the fact that he has
never lived in the wild and has no experience. In Jack London s To Build a Fire the main character had
freezed to death as result of not being prepared similar to McCandless s death. His ignorance, which
could have been cured by a USGS quadrant and a Boy Scout manual, is what killed him (72). London
s work foreshadows McCandless s death as McCandless s death was the result of his arrogance and
not taking the proper materials to survive. McCandless who reads all of London s work failed to learn
a simple yet deadly mistake from one of his characters and because he ignored it, McCandless
believed that he was invincible and that he would be able to survive the dangers of Alaska. Ignoring

Portrayal Of African Americans During The Film The...
There are many times when people say that everyone has some sort of prejudice towards an ethnic
group. A perfect example is that of the portrayal of races through stereotypes in American films that
are being made and sold to the public. Since the beginning of the silent black and white movies there
have been stereotypes that misrepresent ethnic groups, such as the negative portrayal of African
Americans in minstrel shows. Although these extreme negative racist portrayals have ended, the film
industry still insists on adding stereotypes that negatively portrays ethnic minorities, such as Asian
Americans, Hispanics Americans, and African Americans. In the movie industry, no minority has been
exempt from being negatively portrayed in films, such as the Asian Americans. During the first half of
the 1900 s, Asian Americans were victimized through racist cartoons and movies. Further negative
representation of Asian Americans gained momentum during World War 2, particularly towards
Japanese Americans. Further, in today s modern society, movies often depict Asian Americans through
stereotypes, such as Asian American women being portrayed as sexual objects, the smart Asian, and
the Wise old man who possess infinite wisdom. Asian American women have been continuously being
used as sexual objects on the big screen. Asian and Asian American women in the movies play the role
of being extremely submissive to their male counterparts. This could be noted in many films, such as

Should Seventeen Year Olds Be Allowed To Vote
People might suggest that let sixteen and seventeen years olds citizens should vote just so that the
teens can go in the habit of voting at an early age and of to show them how the voting system actually
works. Teenagers don t even have the responsibility to clean up for themselves and are being peer
pressured by their so called friends to do something dangerous. That doesn t sound like people that
can handle the idea of being able to change the world for the best or the worst with their vote. If even
the eighteens years olds that are legal to vote don t even vote so,what makes you think that by
lowering the voting age is going to make such a big impacted on whatever is that they are voting on.
So I believe that sixteen and seventeen year olds shouldn t be allowed to vote for anything. ... Show

There was a sixteen year old boy that was from Takoma City named Ben Miller that participated in

was an exciting day for those teens to hear that they are going to be able to vote and to see how it feels
to have the sanity of the world in their hands (Shin). People think that by lowering the voting age that
they would have seen a bit more of a higher number of people that registered to vote. City Clerk Jessie
Carpenter estimates that about 90 sixteen and seventeen year olds have registered to vote (Shin). This
is explaining that out of those 300+ only and not even half didn t registered to vote. Even if other

The Value Of Diversity Within The Workplace
The Value of Diversity in the Workplace Globalization sets the perfect environment to develop
diversity in the workplace. This new society, in which we are currently living, has created a new
workforce that is based on its diversity that can greatly help with any business development and
growth. In business, diversity brings opportunities to grow, expand and reach out to other markets by
utilizing the values, ideas and the diverse skills that people from many different backgrounds have to
offer. Diversity it is simply the basic foundation for any business development. The melting pot was a
metaphor used around the 1900 s in order to describe the fusion of many nationalities and cultures
coming together in America. Although today, the term has been re invented and it is now most
commonly known as: diversity it still holds the same value however, in today s global society it serves
a different purpose. Then, what exactly is diversity? According to the Merriam Webster dictionary
diversity can be defined as: the state of having people who are different races or who have different
cultures in a group or organization (Merriam Webster, n.a, n.d) in today s society, it means more than
just different cultures, nationalities and races coming together. In today s society, diversity means
putting different professional skills along with different cultural backgrounds coming together united

Effects Of Climate Change On Our Planet
Karen Leswing Professor Susan Browning ENG 112 83 July 11, 2016 Charlotte, North Carolina s
Solution to Climate Change Climate change has taken its toll on our planet. Record heat, fires, drought
and snowstorms have all become the norm in our worldwide weather patterns. The city of Charlotte
has also suffered from the consequences of climate change with extreme temperatures, record
snowstorms and ice storms. It is apparent that action must be taken immediately to stop climate
change (Sargent). How can a small city attempt to solve a global issue such as climate change? Can
climate change be solved on an individual level? The answer is yes; a small city can greatly reduce
carbon emissions by each individual s choice of clean energy. Climate change has been identified as a
terrible threat to all living things on our planet. Cities and individual companies have recognized that
coal burning power plants create massive amounts of carbon emissions that contaminate air quality
and cause climate change (Sargent). North Carolina has a personal experience with the negative
effects of coal burning power. Not only did local coal burning power plants emit massive amounts of
carbon emissions into the air but after these coal plants were shut down, millions of tons of coal ash is
were behind with no effective plan in place to handle the toxic substance (Henderson). As coal
burning power plants are recognized as a leading cause of climate change, other sources of energy

In the movie, there are signs saying either no prawns or no humans and the humans show a major sign
of xenophobia towards the prawns. In this day in age we see a lot of hatred towards foreigners, in
particular, terrorists. In the beginning of the movie you see Blomkamp interviewing the humans about
the prawns. They show a great level of hatred and disgust for the prawns intruding on their town. In
the real world, we see this same form of hatred or disgust from certain people about the immigrants
and refugees intruding on and taking over many American s jobs. Blomkamp wants to push the issue
that there is great hatred throughout the world today. The main reason he produced the film in
Johannesburg was because there were high tensions between native south Africans and Zimbabwean
refugees. He wanted to try to make the town he grew up in great again. Blomkamp wanted to open
people s eyes with the use of science fiction to show that in some ways we treat other humans like the
humans treated the prawns. Differential Criticism studies works by and about oppressed groups,

From Suffering To Overcoming By John Walsh
From Suffering to Overcoming Imagine taking your young child with you to run errands. You race
into Target and then are delayed as you search for the one item you need. In that one moment, your
child walks off to find the toy section. You begin to search around you and then quickly become
frantic. Your mind takes you places you have always feared. What if someone has taken my baby?
This scene and other similar to it are far too familiar in our world.
An estimated 797,000 children are reported missing in one year, however, only approximately 100 of
them are stereotypical kidnappings (Martindale 6). Many times children that are reported missing have
either run away or cannot be found for a few hours. Only a handful are taken for ransom and against
their own will. The stereotypical kidnapping, which is very rare, involves abduction by a stranger or
slight acquaintance who detains the child overnight, transports him or her at least 50 miles, holds the
child for ransom or intends to keep him permanently, or kills the child (Martindale 6). John Walsh,
host of America s Most Wanted, criminal investigator, and loving father of Adam Walsh has placed his

used this tragic event as a motivation and inspiration to become passionate for the safety of others. He

Research Paper On Hypnosis
A common question is, what is hypnosis and how does it work? According to the American
Psychology Association hypnosis is a therapeutic technique in which clinicians make suggestions to
individuals who have undergone a procedure designed to relax them and focus their minds (American
Psychology Association, 2016). Hypnosis is called hypnotherapy and hypnotic suggestion. James
Braid, a 19th century Scottish surgeon originated those terms based on the word hypnos, which is
Greek for to sleep (Harris, 2016).
When the person is hypnotized they feel calm and relaxed. The therapist using verbal repetition makes
them more open to suggestions. The individual being hypnotized is conscious but is able to ignore the
most of everything going on around them. When being hypnotized the person excludes all other
thoughts.

Despite her dad s confession of her struggles, Sarah replies by asking Are you gonna tell me that you
re gonna dress up as a lady every day now? (Transparent, Season 1, Episode 2). While the subsequent
loving interaction between the father daughter duo showcases Sarah s support for her dad s journey,
Sarah s thought that transgender people simply want to dress up like a lady showcases how she
believes that transgender people s wishes are to cross dress and not be actually a different gender. The
conflict between Sarah s want to support her father s journey and her lack of understanding of the
transgender community helps to reflect that in society if people are not aware of the transgender
people s journey, then it will be difficult for even those with the best of heart to help and be supportive
of transgender people s plight. Through Soloway s highlighting of the general lack of knowledge of
how to accept transgender individuals in society, she is able to advocate for change in society to be
more accepting and raise awareness for the transgender people s plight.
Sarah can be seen bravely standing up for her father s rights helps to showcase the importance of
raising awareness for the transgender community and the importance of being an ally for transgender
rights. During a shopping trip Maura s shopping trip with Sarah and Ali, the three of them need to

Abstract. The Common Cold And Influenza Are Two Common
Abstract
The common cold and Influenza are two common illnesses of the upper respiratory tract. These illness
can often be mistaken for each other due to the overlapping symptoms. The two symptoms that seem
to present when the flu is occurring are a fever with a cough. Prevention is also similar for both of the
illnesses with the exception of an actual vaccine that can be administered annually for flu prevention.
Diagnosis can occur in the physicians office according to the individuals symptoms that are presenting
or by completing an rapid flu test. Treatments are also similar for both the common cold and the flu
because they are both caused by viruses, therefore a patient would not benefit from antibiotic therapy.

The symptoms of an upper respiratory tract infection can be caused by several other viruses and
bacteria. It is important to seek proper medical treatment to receive the correct diagnosis, which will
prevent severe illness and from spreading to other people.
The Common Cold. An acute viral infection of the upper respiratory tract is often spread by hand
contact from an infected person. This may be from direct, indirect, or aerosol of the secretions and the
virus (Allan and Arroll, pg 190). The common cold is often less severe than the flu but has similar
symptoms. The cold typically is a shorter mild illness with symptoms gradually occurring. It is known
to start with sneezing, sore throat, possible chills, and headache. As the cold enhances the patient may
present with nasal drainage or congestion and cough. A cold is preventable with physical
interventions, probiotics, and exercise. Physical interventions are extremely important in preventing
illness and preventing the illness from spreading. These interventions can include hand washing, using
alcohol based solutions, gloves, masks, and gowns (Allan and Arroll, pg 192). The most common
treatments for the common cold include antihistamines, decongestants, antitussives, and
acetaminophen. One study of guaifenesin found no benefit; in another, 75% of participants reported
that guaifenesin was helpful for their cough, compared with 31% given placebo (Allan

The Most Important Aspect Of Communication
We ve been roommates for almost a whole semester now, and we haven t run into a single problem!
This is probably because we re both currently taking interpersonal communication classes, and try our
best to apply the lessons to our real life relationships. Although my class uses projects to challenge our
knowledge, I know your class takes tests, so I m going to help you review in this letter! In my opinion,
the most important aspect of communication is the way we manage different types of relationships. In
the following paragraphs, I ll help you review topics such as why various relationship types matter,
how we form them, and what distinguishes them from each other by using examples from television
shows we watch together. Although all relationships are social to some degree, the most obviously
social relationship to me is the one between friends. According to Roy Baumeister, we all have an
innate need to form and maintain interpersonal relationships, which is called the need to belong. To
fulfil this need, we seek out friendships in various social contexts to help us feel like we are part of a
community. For example, In the television show New Girl, Jess and Cece became friends in
elementary school because they were both shy and felt that we didn t belong to any certain group.
However, they wouldn t have become friends if we were not also attracted to one another. Although
attraction can be physical, it can also be social or task related. When people are attracted to each

On January 26, 1986, one of the greatest disasters of our time occurred. When Challenger was
destroyed many questions were asked about the safety of space missions. Many questions were asked
about the credibility of the engineers who designed the air craft.
It is now know that crucial information about the faulty O rings was know to many if not all of the

The Contingency Theory Of Leadership
Introduction
The term leadership can be significantly defined as expressed as the overall process through which a
respective individual influences and provides the right kind of support to others for the purpose of
accomplishing a common objective, goal or task. The leadership theories can be said to the significant
assumptions that significantly help in distinguishing the overall characteristics of any respective leader
(Timpe, 2007). The leadership theories extensively focus on various specific qualities of a leader
which includes knowledge and levels and skills that separates the respective leader from his or her
followers. There exists various kinds of leadership theories but amongst them great man theory, trait
theory, situational leadership theory,, behavioral leadership theory, contingency leadership theory,
transformational leadership theory and transactional leadership theory are considered to be the most
significant. The following essay has identified a significant leadership theory that can prove to be
significantly meaningful to a respective individual. In addition, the overall essay has explained the

The contingency theory of leadership is seen to significant fail in providing proper and appropriate
explanation regarding the overall reasons for the effectiveness of leadership in different types of
situations or circumstances. From the contingency leadership theory it is extensively hard to evaluate
how a respective individual can significantly reflect upon his or her own style of leadership. The
contingency leadership theory is not considered to be a process of development of leadership. It has
been observed that the contingency leadership theory fails to blend with a leader s career growth. If
the respective leader fails to change or adapt his respective style, the respective leader fails to be

Internet Of Things And The Cyber Security
ABSTRACT
Internet of Things (IoT) is an emerging technology where absolutely everything (devices), are being
connected to the internet in order for them to be able to communicate with each other. The internet
may be the World Wide Web or any other form of connectivity used to interconnect two or more
devices remotely. This is all for the benefit of mankind. Man is creating this technology and advancing
it so as to benefit from it in all possible means by reducing work and taskforce and increasing
productivity. Cyber security on the other hand is the threat to the data that is being collected, handled
or stored by these companies. In our research study, we surveyed a sample of companies to see if they
have the Data privacy policies governing them in protecting the data that they collect from very many
individuals and companies via the internet of things devices.
We go ahead to study the contribution of the lack or presence of these data privacy policies to the
cyber security by looking at the trend of cyber security and we look at the relation between the privacy
and integrity of handling the private data / information to the cyber security to see how the absence or
presence of one affects the other.
From our results, we find out if the lack or presence of these data privacy policies, are a contributing
factor to the cyber security of the IoT or not. We also look at the challenges that these companies face
and we go ahead to suggest solutions that can be adopted by the

The Guerrilla Warfare And The American Civil War
The guerrilla warfare along the Kansas Missouri border has generally been considered an outlier of the
American Civil War. While interesting to read about, its impact on the war and on Union policies were
not always important to historians. Early in the study of this conflict historians chose to focus on the
leaders and actions of the guerrillas. More recently, scholars have endeavored to understand how
guerrilla war in the Civil War affected the society in which it took place. This shift in historiographical
trends is, in part, due to the rise in guerrilla warfare in the present. However, questions still remain
over how this conflict fits in with the rest of America s military experience. Questions like, does the

No other mention is made about guerrilla warfare. Because his work was published in 1973, when
attention was still predominantly focused on the conventional engagements of the Civil War, this
oversight is unsurprising though certainly lamentable. Despite the lack of attention given to the
irregular forces supporting the Union and Confederate Armies, those men engaged in raids and
operations that contribute to a deeper understanding of why, during the American Civil War, a strategy
of annihilation was supported by the Union as their strategy against the Confederacy. While the
development of guerrilla war does not factor into Weigley s thesis that the United States has moved
from a strategy of attrition to a strategy of annihilation, it is important in understanding how and why
the United States made that change. For Weigley, this change came during the American Civil War
when Grant became Commanding General of the Army. Grant did not believe the war could be won
with a single, decisive victory against the Confederate Army, rather, he initiated a strategy to destroy
the Confederate Armies through many battles and by attacking their economic resources. The orders to
begin destroying the war resources of the Confederacy may have had their roots in the Western and
Trans Mississippian Theaters of the war because of frustrations associated with guerrilla war. Early in
the war in Kansas, James Lane organized a mixed brigade to

Military Services Act
Essay Title: Military Services Act In 1917 during WW1, the Canadian government justified in
enacting the Military Services Act to register and conscript men for war. Almost all French Canadians
opposed conscription because they felt they had no loyalty to France and Britain. Other Canadians
were at ease with the conscription as they supported the British Empire. The farmers, union heads, and
pacifists were all opposed of the conscription like the French Canadians. I believe the Military
Services Act was not the best choice because it ripped up the relations between the English and the
French Canadians, it eliminated the freedom of the people by forcing them to go to war, and caused a
riot in Quebec City leading to a few deaths. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Quebec City mayor sent reinforcements from Ottawa to help control the rioting, which had been
going on for two days. On the Easter Monday the crowds organized against the military presence in
the city. Armed rioters started to fire at the troops and vise versa. There was an estimated four men
killed by the fire and dozens injured. These riots represent one of the most violent disturbances in
Canadian history. These riots erupted over conscription, which grew from how things were before in
French Canadian nationalism. The military crackdown that lasted in Quebec until the end of the war
resulted in an increase in state power in the growing of French Canadian nationalism. These riots over
the conscription and the French Canadians sticking to their ways lead to a many difficult and
unpleasant times in Quebec. The Military Services Act had more cons than pros as it destroyed the
relationship of the English Canadians and the French Canadians, it limited the freedom of the males
by forcing them to attend war and fight, and also caused a dangerous and damaging riot in Quebec. By
the spring of 1918, the government had amended the Military Services Act so that there were no
exemptions. This left many English Canadians opposed. The war ended within a few months but the
issue left Canadians divided and distrustful of their government. Then in 1920 Borden retired and
conservatives were shut out of Quebec for the next fifty years. The conscription crisis stuck

Famine is something that Russia could be said to be very familiar with. Some of the greatest tragedies
Russia experienced under Soviet rule were the famines that occurred in 1921, 1932, and 1947. The
scope of the devastation is still unparalleled within the country s borders and around the globe. While
the damage and hardship endured during these trying times is uncontested, their specific causes are
still held in contention.
The first famine resulted as an economic disturbance caused by the tail ends of World War I, the 1917

If this were truly the case then there would have been more than enough to feed every peasant even if
the grain was distributed poorly. This suggests that the official figures are not to be trusted and have
likely been exaggerated. It is possible that the statistics recorded were manufactured before the actual
harvest as projections for the oncoming season or biological yields. Famine was widespread
throughout the country, hitting the urban areas and countryside extremely hard. The estimates of the
harvest must have been extremely exaggerated because the death toll was skyrocketing and many of
the typically favored peoples (the industrial workers and city dwellers) were dying from starvation
also. However, just because starvation and disease was rampant does not mean that everyone suffered
equally. The death toll in the Ukraine in particular was abnormally high. Some of this can be blamed
on the still harsh requisitions taken from the Ukrainian peasants. One of the major differing points in
the treatment between the Ukrainian peasants and other Russian citizens involved emigration. The
desperate living conditions brought peasants to the cities and urban workers to the countryside all in
search of food and a more stable life. For the first time since the tsar was in power internal passports
were given to Russian citizens. They were able to relocate to find better prospects for themselves

Though Blanche doesn t necessarily want Stanley, she still feeds off the attention given to her. Though
what Blanche does may be immoral, there is evidence of her wanting to be clean and virtuous. Almost
anytime Blanche s clothes are described, they are white, an innocent color. The reader can see that
Blanche wants to be the virtuous person she often pretends to be.
It is clear that Blanche DuBois is willing to do what she believes is necessary to get what she wants.
This often includes deceit. She feels that she needs to lie about herself in order to seem more
appealing. Because Blanche is so afraid of aging, she keeps her age to herself. While she is dating
Mitch, she often deceives him by never letting him see her in bright light in order to conceal her faded
looks. When she comes to New Orleans, Blanche does not tell her sister that she was fired from her
job; she says that she is merely taking a vacation from the job. She says this in order to keep up the
fake persona she holds. Blanche is very open about her lies with her sister. I know I fib a good deal.
After all, a woman s charm is fifty per cent illusion, but when a thing is important I tell the truth. (69)

of the lies and deceit Blanche tells, she is living an unreal existence.

Italian American Internment
The internment of non citizens by the United States during World War II included Italians. Unlike
Japanese Americans, the Italians never received reparations. But unlike Japanese Americans, who
were rounded up whether citizens or not, only non citizen Italians faced internment. At the outbreak of
World War II, Italians over the age of fourteen who were not born in the United States and had not

international students studying in the United States. In some cases, temporary residents (such as

How Model Rocket Works
How do model rockets work? A rocket is propelled by thrust produced from the expulsion of gases or
particles, most commonly as a result of a chemical reaction between fuel and an oxidizer that occurs
in a combustion chamber.
A rocket works by the reaction that is occurred in the combustion chamber. the thrust from the
expulsion of gas and particles is in close pressure which makes the reaction longer and with more
power for the rocket to fly higher and faster. the model rocket is used by a model of a rocket itself and

Writing in The Help Writing has had a profound place in human history. It has allowed humanity to

novel The Help, about the experiences of black maids in 1960 s Mississippi, features many symbols
and examples of the powers and advantages of writing. This includes the book and articles Skeeter
writes, Aibileen s writing, and the written and unwritten laws of the South. Racial prejudice is alive

Aibileen is shown to be a great writer and instrumental in getting Skeeter s book off the ground. Ever
since Aibileen dropped out of school to pay the bills, she has been practicing her writing in the
aforementioned prayer book. Indeed, Aibileen s son, Treelore Clark, had been working on a novel
about working as a black man in Jackson which inspired Skeeter s book. Unfortunately, Treelore was
killed before he was able to finish his book and testify against the racism and prejudice of the South.
Even with this seed of dissent motivating her, Aibileen was unable to bring herself to talk about her
experiences until she wrote them down. For Aibileen, writing is like writing to God she is wholly
truthful. it allows her to be more truthful and organize her thoughts, which proves instrumental in
telling her story: telling the truth. In The Help, writing is used to allow the truth to be told about their
unique experiences. Writing has the power to solidify ideas, for better or for worse. Putting things on
paper makes it much clearer than anything you keep in your head. For example, when Skeeter Phelan

Open Availability In Nursing Home
We live in a day and age where most Canadians do not concern themselves with the odds of them
being placed in a long term care facility due to the presence of our health care system, however, a
greater number of individuals should be more cogitative about the possibility of needing to be put in a

(2015) over 40% of the long term care homes in Ontario are small, with 96 or fewer beds. With the

There are two simple solutions to this problem: open more long term care facilities and have them

they need it the most, just as no person should be forced to stay at home in unsafe circumstances or be
stuck in a hospital due to there being no rooms available at a nearby long term care centre. There are
few individuals who choose not to go into a long term care facility, however there are also many
people who don t have the option to enter a home due to absence of facilities. As a result of lack of
long term care amenities, waitlists have skyrocketed. With respect to the long term care facility called

  • 2. The Effects Of Natural Resources On The Environment Since the Industrial Revolution, natural resources have been under increasing pressure. The significant changes in the amount of natural resources we have left have led to many issues, such as global public health and global development. Other areas affected include the loss of forest, water and air pollution, decrease in fresh water supply and degradation of soil. Today we are currently seeing dramatic increases in global population. As the world s population continues to rise, natural resources will continue to dwindle as long as we remain the same. The one thing that I would say is the most challenging for humans is being able to advance in life, but still not destroy the environment. If you look at most developed countries, it is evident that they consume resources way more rapidly than developing countries. The problem with this is that all of these countries are consuming faster than they can produce. Places like Africa and Asia are experiencing population momentum. These areas have a tendency for population growth that continues to grow because of the high concentration of people having kids. Better living conditions are definitely needed in these countries because of the limited amount of resources being consumed by these regions. The over exploitation of these resources will eventually lead to problems for future uses. As population increases, the need to expand becomes more evident. The huge consumption and need for more food, land, water, and energy have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of The Lynching Of Emmett Till The documentary, narrative The Lynching of Emmett Till by Christopher Metress, tells Emmett s story of death through various points of view. On August 24, 1955, Emmett Till, a fourteen year old African American boy from Chicago, entered a rural grocery store of Money, Mississippi. Because the young child had been gloating about his bond with white people up north, his southern cousins had dared him to go into the store and say something to the women working the register. Emmett accepted their challenge; seconds later he was at the counter, set on purchasing two items. What he did or said next will never be known for sure, but whatever passed between these two strangers from two different worlds set off a chain reaction that would forever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, the subject of this novel is stated through various viewpoints of information and is understood by all audiences. In addition, the mood of the story is mysterious, unsettling, and chilling. In particular, when the author describes the murder of Emmett that is enough visualization to send chills down the reader s spine. Also, the tone of the author throughout the novel is solemn and gloomy. Lastly, not only is the novel informant: it s also educational at the same time. In conclusion, Emmett Till was a young boy who was born in a time that was rough for African Americans. Also, Christopher Metress is a published author and college professor whose ideas are linked with readers, worldwide. Sixty years later, at a time when race relations are once more at the front of the American mind, Till s name is still adducing as a reminder of the worst consequences of ignoring the problem. Accidentally, his story has inspired a regeneration of historians and scholars. Everyone has the right to have happiness in life and should not be oppressed by discrimination. In the year 1955, white men in the Mississippi Delta lynched a fourteen year old from Chicago named Emmett Till. His murder was part of a massive wave of white terrorism in the wake of the 1954 Supreme Court decision that declared public school segregation unconstitutional. Five years later, Black students launched sit in campaigns that turned the struggle for civil rights into a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of The Book Outremer By Nabil Saleh The thirteenth century showed a lot of tension between religious and political groups and leaders. The church in those days had more power and control over the state. One religious tension in particular was the hatred between Cathars and Catholics. While they both came from the Christian religion, the Cathars had different beliefs and a different leading system than the Catholics, and the Catholics saw the Cathars as heretics. The Cathars were overrunning the French land of Languedoc, and so a series of wars started between the French Catholics and the Languedoc Cathars. In the book, Outremer, by Nabil Saleh, we are introduced to many characters, religions, and relationships. It gives us a look at how the different religions, political leaders, and families connected with or lived beside one another. In my opinion, Outremer shows more religious tension than political tension during the thirteenth century, but still it does not show the reality and full effect of the tension. From the beginning of the book, we are shown the tension between Christians and Cathars when Aimeric s father sends him on a mission to travel to Tyre and kill King Philip of Montfort. There is hatred between the two religions from events that happened years ago, and the Cathars still want revenge on the Christians. Although the main character, Aimeric, accepts his father s mission, he ends up meeting people from different religions and getting along with them as if they were of his own family. ... Maybe we do, but most of the times we enjoy them, more than knowing the feeling behind that specific plate or the hard work that take to prepare a good family tradition dinner that one can remember even when many years had passed. Food tradition defines our culture. Not only defines our culture, but give us a special connection with our culture and a connection with our family members in the distance and also can evoke great memories with your family. The observed and theoretical ratios of upstream and downstream depths will be compared, this will show the limitations to purely theoretical analysis. The experiment showed that a hydraulic jump occurs when when liquid at high velocity discharges into a zone of lower velocity, a rather abrupt rise occurs in the liquid surface. Hydraulic jump occurs when the supercritical flow occurs in a channel of which normal flow condition is subcritical. h2/h1 = ½ (√(1+8F12 ) 1) (4) The Froude number is calculated using this equation: F1 = √(q2/gh12) (5) The hydraulic jump, also known as standing wave, is a rapid transition from supercritical flow to subcritical flow. The transition is generally a turbulent process with a significant energy loss(∆E). that can not be neglected. A hydraulic jump is commonly used to dissipate energy, and reduce the downstream velocity. To calculate the specific energy at the two separate heights this equation is used: E = h1 + q2/2gh12 (6) The total energy loss can be derived as ΔE = E1 E2 (7) To find the height of the jump between the smallest and largest heights: Δh = h2 h1 (8)

A perfect example is that of the portrayal of races through stereotypes in American films that are being made and sold to the public. Since the beginning of the silent black and white movies there have been stereotypes that misrepresent ethnic groups, such as the negative portrayal of African Americans in minstrel shows. Although these extreme negative racist portrayals have ended, the film industry still insists on adding stereotypes that negatively portrays ethnic minorities, such as Asian Americans, Hispanics Americans, and African Americans. In the movie industry, no minority has been exempt from being negatively portrayed in films, such as the Asian Americans. During the first half of the 1900 s, Asian Americans were victimized through racist cartoons and movies. Further negative representation of Asian Americans gained momentum during World War 2, particularly towards Japanese Americans. Further, in today s modern society, movies often depict Asian Americans through stereotypes, such as Asian American women being portrayed as sexual objects, the smart Asian, and the Wise old man who possess infinite wisdom. While interesting to read about, its impact on the war and on Union policies were not always important to historians. Early in the study of this conflict historians chose to focus on the leaders and actions of the guerrillas. More recently, scholars have endeavored to understand how guerrilla war in the Civil War affected the society in which it took place. This shift in historiographical trends is, in part, due to the rise in guerrilla warfare in the present. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No other mention is made about guerrilla warfare. Because his work was published in 1973, when attention was still predominantly focused on the conventional engagements of the Civil War, this oversight is unsurprising though certainly lamentable. Despite the lack of attention given to the irregular forces supporting the Union and Confederate Armies, those men engaged in raids and operations that contribute to a deeper understanding of why, during the American Civil War, a strategy of annihilation was supported by the Union as their strategy against the Confederacy. While the development of guerrilla war does not factor into Weigley s thesis that the United States has moved from a strategy of attrition to a strategy of annihilation, it is important in understanding how and why the United States made that change. For Weigley, this change came during the American Civil War when Grant became Commanding General of the Army. Grant did not believe the war could be won with a single, decisive victory against the Confederate Army, rather, he initiated a strategy to destroy the Confederate Armies through many battles and by attacking their economic resources. The orders to begin destroying the war resources of the Confederacy may have had their roots in the Western and Trans Mississippian Theaters of the war because of frustrations associated with guerrilla war. Almost all French Canadians opposed conscription because they felt they had no loyalty to France and Britain. Other Canadians were at ease with the conscription as they supported the British Empire. The farmers, union heads, and pacifists were all opposed of the conscription like the French Canadians. On the Easter Monday the crowds organized against the military presence in the city. Armed rioters started to fire at the troops and vise versa. There was an estimated four men killed by the fire and dozens injured. These riots represent one of the most violent disturbances in Canadian history. These riots erupted over conscription, which grew from how things were before in French Canadian nationalism. The military crackdown that lasted in Quebec until the end of the war resulted in an increase in state power in the growing of French Canadian nationalism. These riots over the conscription and the French Canadians sticking to their ways lead to a many difficult and unpleasant times in Quebec. The Military Services Act had more cons than pros as it destroyed the relationship of the English Canadians and the French Canadians, it limited the freedom of the males by forcing them to attend war and fight, and also caused a dangerous and damaging riot in Quebec. By the spring of 1918, the government had amended the Military Services Act so that there were no exemptions. This left many English Canadians opposed. This suggests that the official figures are not to be trusted and have likely been exaggerated. It is possible that the statistics recorded were manufactured before the actual harvest as projections for the oncoming season or biological yields. Famine was widespread throughout the country, hitting the urban areas and countryside extremely hard. The estimates of the harvest must have been extremely exaggerated because the death toll was skyrocketing and many of the typically favored peoples (the industrial workers and city dwellers) were dying from starvation also. However, just because starvation and disease was rampant does not mean that everyone suffered equally. The death toll in the Ukraine in particular was abnormally high. Some of this can be blamed on the still harsh requisitions taken from the Ukrainian peasants. One of the major differing points in the treatment between the Ukrainian peasants and other Russian citizens involved emigration. The desperate living conditions brought peasants to the cities and urban workers to the countryside all in search of food and a more stable life.
