Case Study On Knee Replacement
1. My mother has knee pain for many years and recently it has worsened. She has some deformity
around the knees and can barely walk more than 10 15 minutes. What should be done?
Recent worsening of chronic knee pain and deformity probably indicates that knee arthritis has
reached advanced stage i.e. the protective lining of the joint is nearly completely worn out. At this
stage, pain medication often doesn t help much. Rather, one may suffer from dangerous side effects of
prolonged pain medication therapy on heart, liver, kidney, stomach and intestines. It is recommended
that one should consult a joint specialist and get certain X rays. If it is advanced arthritis, then one
should consider knee replacement to get rid of the problem.
2. What do you mean by knee replacement?
It is a surgical procedure in which the damaged or worn out cartilage lining of the joint is removed and
replaced with an artificial implant thus removing the cause of pain. The soft tissue tension around the
joint is balanced and the joint axis is restored to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Unique Work of Roy DeCarava
Roy DeCarava was born in 1919 in New York and became a famous photographer whose subjects
focused mostly on urban African Americans and their daily lives. Harlem was where he took most of
his photographs. He originally started out painting and first began using a camera to document images
he would later use in his painting, but over time began to rely on the camera more until that became
his medium for art. Throughout his life, DeCavara was forced to deal with racial discrimination,
which in part led him to begin photographing African Americans and their experiences in 20th century
America. In the 1940 s DeCarava began shooting a series photographs in Harlem, which later were
included in his first solo show in 1950. In 1952, Decarava was awarded Guggenheim Fellowship, and
was the first African American photographer to receive this grant. In 1955 he founded A Photographer
s Gallery, which was implemented to gain public interest in photography, and eventually closed due to
poor sales. He also started a workshop in 1963 specifically for African American photographers.
Though he was an acclaimed artist his career as a freelance photographer was never completely stable
so he looked for other jobs throughout his life. He became a contract photographer for Sports
Illustrated, became an associate professor at Hunter College and eventually became a full time and
distinguished professor there. In 1996, the Museum of Modern Art a retrospective of DeCavara s

Vectors, Biology And Transmission Cycles
Vectors, Biology and Transmission Cycles The dengue virus is transmitted from human to human with
a few members of Aedes Stegomyia subgenus serving as vectors, the most important one being the
Aedes aegypti mosquito as this mosquito represents the bulk of the vector transmissions of the virus.
Ae. aegypti mosquitos originate from Africa but due to human transport, they can now be found
mostly in many tropical areas around the world. These mosquitos thrive in dark, damp areas in a
tropical climate as their growth is slowed in cooler climates. Ae. aegypti have a lifespan of 10 days to
3 weeks. The following is a simple chart of the life cycle of Ae. aegypti:

Eggs can hatch within 2 days in tropical climates or up to a week in cooler climates. Larvae are very
tolerant to low nutrient sources, mainly feeding of organic particulate matter in the water. They go
through 4 instars after which they turn into pupae. They do not eat during this stage and take 2 days to
develop into adult mosquitos. Pathogenesis and Immunopathophysiology Once infected for the first
time, the host innate defences begin to work on the dengue virus by first initiating the complement
system. However, even though the complement system can inhibit the infection from many a virus, it
may have either protective or pathogenic roles against the virus depending on the stage of infection
and the host. Activation of the complement system initiates several antiviral mechanisms including
pathogen opsonisation and/or lysis, and activation of adaptive B and T cell responses. Complement is
activated through the classical, lectin and alternative pathways, depending on specific recognition
molecules. The complement cascade activates mainly to prime B and T cells to get to work on damage
control within the host. However, the pathological effects which come from the complement system
can vary in a dengue virus infection. Later during primary infection, IgM antibodies will be produced
initially in an attempt to slow down the infection and much later on IgG antibodies specific to the
specific dengue virus serotype will be deployed.

Essay on Make-up of Life-giving Cells
What is a cell? A cell is the structural, functional and biological unit of all organisms (biology
online.org). The millions of cells that compose the body give life. These cells work together in
synergy to perform the bodily functions God has given man to maintain homeostasis. The cells that
work in harmony consist of an array of cells such as, epidermal, nerve, or muscle. As these various
cells work together they form a biological machine to give life. Before the discovery the cell, many
had their theory of what composed life. Greek philosophers believed that everything consisted of
water, earth, fire, and air called the classical elements (about.com). Charles Darwin erroneously
theorized that they regarded as simple bags of an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nucleolus is where the ribosomes or protein factories are manufactured. From its production it is
exported through the nuclear pores and into the cytoplasm to begin its protein manufacturing. The
second major part of the eukaryotic cell is the cytoplasm. This serves as the cell s fluid medium or
matrix. This jellylike fluid allows the organelles or little organs to float within it. Cytoplasm also
contains many dissolved chemicals. The cytoplasm and organelles use the properties within it to create
chemical reactions to produce energy as well as recycling. To give added structure to the cell, the
cytoplasm contains a cytoskeleton to prevent being squashed. The cytoskeleton is composed of large,
hollow rods called microtubules. This gives rigidity like a buildings steel beams. These beams also
hold the organelles in place. The hollow rods act as highways for transporting goods around the cell.
The proteins from the ribosomes or protein factories can be packaged into a special container where
they are shipped by the microtubules. At the center of the microtubules is the centrosome. This
structure is where the microtubules branch off, which is near the middle of the cell. The centrosome is
called the organizing center because it can break down the microtubules and allow the organelles to
move around. At the center of the centrosome is where the commands are made called the centrioles, a
pair of cylindrical structures. A major part of the

John Locke s Theory of Knowledge Essay
John Locke (1632 1704) was the first of the classical British empiricists. (Empiricists believed that all
knowledge derives from experience. These philosophers were hostile to rationalistic metaphysics,
particularly to its unbridled use of speculation, its grandiose claims, and its epistemology grounded in
innate ideas) If Locke could account of all human knowledge without making reference to innate
ideas, then his theory would be simpler, hence better, than that of Descartes. He wrote, Let us then
suppose the mind to be, as we say, white paper, void of all characters, without any ideas: How comes
it to be furnished? To his I answer, in one word, from EXPERIENCE. (Donald Palmer, p.165)
So the mind at birth is a tabula rasa, a blank ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondary qualities are characteristic that are often attribute to external objects, which exist only in
the mind, yet are caused by real features of external objects. Secondary qualities are colors, sounds,
and tastes.) This view of the mind has come to be known as REPRESENTATIVE REALISM. This
mean the mind represents the external world but it does not duplicate it. The mind is something like a
photograph in that there are feature of a photo that very accurately represent the world, such as a good
picture of three people and that each of them has two eyes, one nose, and one mouth, and there are
features of the photograph that belong exclusively to the photo (its glossiness, its two dimensionality,
the white border around its content). A real quality must be a quality of a real thing and real things are
substances. Once again, given anything in the world, it is either a substance or a characteristic of a
substance.)
So, having claimed that he could account for all knowledge purely in terms of experience and having
arrived at the concept that had dominated philosophy for the last several generations, Locke
proclaimed it a mystery and even joked about it. (LOOKING AT PHILOSOPHY pg.165 174).

The Importance Of Managing Equality And Diversity
Unit 6:10 Introduction As a Senior Staff of London College of Science and Technology, this report
will address the importance of effectively managing equality and diversity as well as the dynamics of
leading and managing in my Organisation. The task is divided into two: The first task will explain the
meaning of equality and diversity, analysis of its legal requirement, implications, policies and
procedure, needs and expectations of stakeholder in relation to the organisation policy on equality and
diversity. The second task will appraise how to address equality and diversity, evaluate methods of
communicating commitment and analyse technique used to review and monitor equality and diversity.
Task 1 What is Organisational Equality and diversity? Though, it is sometimes used interchangeably,
the terms equality and diversity are not similar. According to Department of Health, Equality is about
providing a better society, where everyone can contribute and has the opportunity to fulfil their
potential (DoH, 2004). In my view, equality means treating everyone with impartiality and respect,
and knowing the needs of individuals. It is about addressing present shortcomings affecting how
people participate in society. Diversity means identifying, valuing and taking into cognisance people s
different backgrounds, understanding, skills, needs and experiences. It is also about motivating and
using those differences to create a

DNA testing Essay
DNA testing has overthrown the way police collect evidence in a number of criminal cases, especially
rape and murder and consequently had a large impact on many past cases. However there are many
disadvantages to DNA testing, such as a challenge of accuracy, the costs of DNA testing and the
possible misuse of DNA. The prospect of a national DNA database in Australia has been heavily
criticised with complaints of invasion of privacy and stigma against those with terminal diseases.
Deoxyribonucleic acid, or DNA as it is most commonly known, is a strand of molecules found within
the cell nucleus of all living things. It is called a genetic fingerprint because each is different to the
other and everyone, apart from identical twins, have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another downside to the use of DNA is the misuse of results. Victims with AIDS feel that they might
be stigmatised if their DNA is stored in a national database and it could be used against them.
The prospect of a genetic database in Australia has been raised recently. The federal police are pushing
for a national database to help solve crime and are asking for legislation to be allowed to collect DNA
samples from people accused, or suspected of committing an offence (the Australian, 06.12.1997 see
appendix one)
The proposal has sparked a moral dilemma. Victoria has had a DNA database since 1992 with the
reasoning that, if a suspect is cleared, their DNA must be erased off the list. However, recently
Victorian government has allowed police to collect samples from more suspected criminals, not just
those accused of murder, serious assault or rape. Now they are allowed to collect from those accused
of drug trafficking, arson causing death and aggravated burglary.
Privacy is also another big issue surrounding the plans for a database. Chairman of the New South
Wales privacy council says that the prospect of a genetic database is a cavalier disregard for people s
privacy
Recently it was passed that all states, apart from Western Australia have the right to compose a DNA
database (The Sydney Telegraph, 22.04.2001 see appendix two) and already there had been a few
flaws found. With

From Saturday Night Live to his most infamous performance of a perpetually intoxicated fraternity

generations. His photograph is one that can often be found adorning the dormitory walls of modern
college students hoping to have an experience in college that the cult hero would be proud of. His
most recent performance that garnered any kind of critical acclaim, however, was given over thirty
years ago with his portrayal of Jake Blues in the comedic classic The Blues Brothers. John Belushi has

was pronounced dead on March 15th, 1982 at 12:45pm. A speedball is a deadly combination of a
stimulant and a depressant, most commonly cocaine and an opiate of some kind, usually either heroin
or morphine. The concoction was extremely popular at the time of Belushi s death, however Belushi is
not the only well known celebrity to have died of a Speedball mixture. Ironically enough, Chris
Farley, one of the other most famous cast members of Saturday Night Live and a lifetime admirer of
Belushi, died of a speedball mixture of cocaine and morphine sulfate in 1997. The chosen stimulant
and depressant are premixed before being taken intravenously. The combination can also be taken
through inhaling or snorting the two powders together, but the intravenous version is considered more
common. Because of the nature of both chemicals used in the drug mixture, a speedball has an
extremely high risk of physical dependence and can cause powerful withdrawal symptoms. The reason
for mixing the stimulant with the depressant is an attempt to maximize the euphoric effects of both
drugs while supposedly reducing the chance of anxiety attributed to stimulants or sedation attributed
to depressants. The risk of HIV contraction is much

Film Theory Vs. Realism
In the initial days of cinema, film theories tended to divide into two opposing views, Formalism and
Realism. Formalists believed the formal properties of cinema shaped the way films were made, as well
as our responses to them. For formalists, the challenge was to establish film as an independent art
form. They found their answer in film s formal properties, which enable the filmmaker to alter reality
and create new worlds within the screen. Formalist filmmaking reached its peak in 1920s with Sergei
Eisenstein editing technique, and using intellectual montage with startling effect. In contrast, Realist
believed the importance of capturing and recording reality. This is where they considered the essence
of filmmaking lies. Formalists on the other hand can argue if that were pure cinema then no more
actors, no more story, no more sets, which is to say that in the perfect aesthetic illusion of reality there
is no more cinema (Bazin, Andre). I disagree, capturing reality can still be an art style and Realism
proves that and it s especially highlighted in the period known as Italian Neorealism. Italian
Neorealism was a hugely influential film movement. It sprung from the aftermath of WWII and ended
around 1951. Notably emerging from the magazine Cinema, from a particular group of critics who
were prevented from writing about politics. They switch to cinema to rebel against the Italian film
industry under Mussolini influences. One of the primary goals of Italian Neorealism

Justice Is One Of The Most Important Moral And Political...
Justice is one of the most important moral and political concepts. The word comes from the Latin jus,
meaning right or law. Since the beginning of time, injustice has been an issue each individual has
experienced during his or her daily lives. Even today we still are experiencing riots and protests from
African American in order to achieve justice. In Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 by Anna Deavere Smith
we see an example of injustice through the Rodney King case and the shooting of Latasha Harlins.
Rodney King and Latasha Harlins experienced racial injustice, which can be defined as the denial of
rights based on an individual s race or racial background. Both two victims were mistreated for the
color of their skin and were stripped from their equal rights and opportunities.
In Los Angeles, California, four Los Angeles police officers had been caught beating an unarmed
African American motorist, Rodney King. Rodney King had severe injuries due to the beating. On
April 23, the King trial jury begins its deliberations, and hours later the verdict was announced and the
officers were found innocent. In the presentation by Dr. Taylor, she stated prosecutors provide
evidence, and the defense provides evidence and the two halves create a whole story (Dr. Taylor). This
is stating that when justice is involved, hearing both stories help put compose the concrete truth of
what transpired and occurred. However, in the Rodney King case, he was stripped from his justice to

Is it better to carry a heavy load on your shoulders, or cope with the unbearable lightness of being?
Phillip Kaufman coupled brilliant film techniques with wonderful acting to put together the film The
Unbearable Lightness of Being based off of Milan Kundera s novel of the same title. The film is set in
Prague during the spring of 1968. At this time the Russians are still trying to exercise their communist

from the Czech people. Within the movie and the plot, Kaufman and Kundera want to help us answer

After this first escapade we see Tomas go to Sabina. In her room filled with mirrors and abstract art.
Multiple scenes take place in Sabina s isolated bedroom. In fact hardly ever, do we see Sabina and
Tomas together outside of Sabina s apartment. Their love is contained with the walls of her apartment.
Kundera and Kauffman use this to illustrate how Sabina wants to protect their relationship from the
outside world and reality.
From the beginning Kaufman and Kundera illustrate for us that there is a mutual understanding
between Tomas and Sabina. She recognizes and accepts his playful and wandering heart. It is obvious
through her emotional and physical confidence that she knows Tomas sleeps with other women, but
she does not care. This confidence is presented to us in the love scenes between Sabina and Tomas.
With her erotic hat, kinky mirrors, and playful love making, back grounded by the up beat music, we
are lead to believe that Sabina is as laid back about her love life as Tomas is.
Sabina s care free attitude and confidence is reinforced throughout the movie. Sabina is the first
person that Tomas tells about Tereza. From what Tomas tells her it is obvious that any relationship
with Tereza is going to be more serious than their own relationship. Each time during the course of the
film that Tomas is having problems with Tereza he goes to Sabina. When they are in Geneva and
Tereza leaves to return to Prague, Tomas first turns to Sabina. At the

The National Health Service Within The United Kingdom
Introduction to the Organisation The National Health Service within the United Kingdom refers to the
publically funded body with a variety of healthcare related statutory responsibilities. This covers
numerous individual services around the country, all of which must be able to provide a level of
service both emergency and non emergency to the public. The NHS was formed in 1948 after a series
of public welfare reforms, and has evolved into the multi billion pound organisation that millions of
individuals rely upon today. As an organisation within the public sector, the performance of the NHS
is often heavily scrutinised by the media and general public, as the body is funded by taxpayer s
money. The services offered by the organisation are also of extreme importance in regards to public
health, and as such, it is crucial that such an organisation has an effective business continuity plan in
order to maintain these services to the highest possible level in front of unexpected disasters or
failures. Legal Duties There are a number of legal responsibilities placed upon the NHS in regards to
business continuity and unexpected events. The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 places a legal
requirement on all Category 1 Responders to have Business Continuity Plans in place to ensure that
the emergency element of the service can still be run to an acceptable level regardless of disruption.

Reflection in Iris Murdoch s Under the Net
Reflection in Iris Murdoch s Under the Net
In her novel Under the Net, Iris Murdoch examines the nature of reality through the thoughts and
relationships of the novel s main character, Jake Donaghue. A recurring theme in the novel is the idea
of reflection, in both senses of the word: Jake is continually thinking about ideas, and he is also
forever trying to see himself as he really is. Many of the instances of reflection in the novel occur near
rivers or are connected in some way to currents. As we shall see, Iris Murdoch uses reflections in
Under the Net to represent the mirror opposites of reality and appearance. The Novel As Reflection

We should note that it is her reflection and not Sadie that Jake sees: [T]he curious fantasy came to me
that if I were to look under the drier at the real face and not at the reflection I should see there some
terrible old witch (p53). The relationship between appearance and reality is a central theme in the
novel, and Jake s search for the truth includes the desire to learn if one can ever truly know another
person. Jake s fear of intimacy is due in part to his concern for the truth; he states that although he
once briefly thought of marrying Anna, he has never wanted a communion of the souls because it is
already hard enough to tell the truth to oneself (p31). Jake nevertheless again comes to care deeply for
Anna, and in a frantic search of Paris, he finally finds her at the city s fireworks celebration:
The river was black now under the night sky and glassy, a black mirror in which every lamp raised a
pole of light and the conflagration in the sky above dropped an occasional piece of gold. The line of
people on the other bank was clearly reflected in it. Anna s image was quite still beneath her. I
wondered if in the river...my own reflection was as vividly shown. (191)
Anna does not see Jake s reflection, however, and he leaves Paris without having talked to her. In a
comic distortion of reality, Jake believes that Hugo loves Anna, while in fact Hugo loves Sadie, Anna
loves Hugo, and Sadie loves Jake; their relationships

Essay The Rites of Spring by Modris Eksteins
Modris Eksteins presented a tour de force interpretation of the political, social and cultural climate of
the early twentieth century. His sources were not merely the more traditional sources of the historian:
political, military and economic accounts; rather, he drew from the rich, heady brew of art, music,
dance, literature and philosophy as well. Eksteins examined ways in which life influenced, imitated,
and even became art. Eksteins argues that life and art, as well as death, became so intermeshed as to
be indistinguishable from one another. The title of the book, The Rites of Spring, and the plunge into
the world of the Ballet Russe in the first chapter, made clear that Eksteins intended to use Stravinsky s

Germany was, relatively speaking, a new nation; new as a single nation. Russian contributions to
music and dance were new; they did not date back centuries like in England, France, Germany and
Italy. Politically, Germany found herself in a similar situation. She was new and wanted to make her
place among the great powers; she saw herself as the innovator, a progressive spirit, as opposed to
wearied France and conservative Britain. Eksteins contends that because Germans saw themselves as
the agent of (inevitable) progress, they felt their role in The Great War was defensive rather than
aggressive. To attack Germany was to attack the future. This belief that they must defend their
homeland from those who would deny the future, sustained the Germans during and after the war, and
into the next one. Eksteins realized that Hitler was not an anomaly; Hitler touched a sympathetic chord
within the Germans. Although Eksteins discussed that any group may want to find scapegoats when
things go wrong, citing the tendencies of the French to look beyond themselves for explanations of
failure, he implies that, in Germany, finding scapegoats produced such horrific results because
preexisting sentiments of anti Semitism combined with the violence and power of Nazism. His

diminish the complexities and challenges faced by breastfeeding mothers (Renfrew et al., 2012).
Although breastfeeding is partly instinctive behaviour, it still needs to be learned and mothers need
support, encouragement and adequate management to make breastfeeding a success (Stables Rankin,
2010). This essay will aim to highlight the benefits and advantages of breastfeeding for both mother
and child, and examine the support that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Breastmilk provides a number of health advantages beginning at birth and continuing throughout a
child s life (Kainonen et al., 2012; Pairman et al., 2015; Stables Rankin, 2010). The longer a mother
breastfeeds, the more likely her child will get the health benefits of breastfeeding (Rollins et al., 2016;
Stables Rankin, 2010).
The immediate health, wellbeing and survival of babies is affected by breastfeeding and thus impacts
our public health system (Pairman et al., 2015). Risk of morbidity and mortality due to infectious
disease is lower among exclusively breastfed babies compared with partially breastfed babies (Kramer
Kakuman, 2012). If breastfed, about half of all diarrhoea episodes and a third of respiratory infections
would be avoided (Victora et al., 2016) thus protecting against hospital admissions (Victora et al.,
2016; UNICEF, 2005). Breast milk is also associated with a reduction in asthma (Oddy, 2013; Victora
et al., 2016), protection against otitis media (Victora et al., 2016), and childhood lymphomas (Guise et
al., 2005). Due to the presence of long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids in breastmilk, studies have
gathered that breastfeeding can also improve brain development, growth and levels of intelligence
quotient (Victora et al., 2016; Huffman et al., 2011). Additionally, the prevalence of obesity

What Is the Importance of Accountability in the Military...
What is the importance of accountability in the military and in the work place? What is accountability
by definition: (Department Of Defense) The obligation imposed by law or lawful order or regulation
on an officer or other person for keeping accurate record of property, documents, or funds. The person
having this obligation may or may not have actual possession of the property, documents, or funds.
Accountability is concerned primarily with records, while responsibility is concerned primarily with
custody, care, and safekeeping. Accountability is very important because it allows for your chain of
command to know where you are at at the moment. Accountability in the workplace is defined as

Anything can and will happen especially in combat, that s why the team member should make sure
that the team or squad leader know where the soldier and his or her equipment is at all times. The
Army spends a lot of money on equipment and belongings for the soldiers, so the Army expects to
know where its equipment is. No matter what someone is always responsible for equipment in the
Army. Accountability is important because it assures someone that needs will be met. If someone is
accountable, you can trust that they will do what they claimed. Without accountability you would not
be able to put your trust in someone to complete a job for you and other members of the team, or even
show up on time to an important event ,or formation. It is important because it holds each and
everyone accountability for his or her actions.Accountability is an obligation or willingness to accept
responsibility or to account for ones actions. Now for the Army, it becomes an obligation more than
willingness while you have to be willing to do it as well. Those that are unable to be accountable are
the ones that jeopardize the combat readiness of any unit. Basically it is the understanding that from
the bottom up. Top down and laterally everyone is going to do and is willing to do the right thing even

APA Writing Course Analysis
Introduction
Life is a cycle of learning and the dissemination of what we ve learned. In each day of our lives we
learn something new to add to our list of skills and knowledge. When I first entered university, I
thought the writing courses were useless and just a waste of time since we all can write. Later,
however, I realized how those courses are beneficial in improving our critical thinking and
communication skills not only the style of writing.
Body
At the beginning of this semester, I had little knowledge about the APA writing format and how to
look for relevant sources. I also found it very difficult to build an argument and track down solutions.
Now, on the other hand, I can differentiate between the sources that are valuable and ... Show more

Providing that, this course assisted me in thinking through my strengths and weaknesses. To start with,
I find it very easy to deliver an idea now, and communicate with the readers through writing. Looking
back through my essays, I noticed that at the beginning of this course my voice was not present. Now,
however, I learned how to set forth an argument, stand for it, and present it using logical facts, keeping
in mind that my voice should be there. Additionally, my grammar and vocabulary has improved, as a
result, it enhanced my writing and helped keep the readers focused. I also use lot of transitional words
to link my ideas and allow the essay to flow smoothly and coherently. As for my weaknesses, I noted
that I keep drifting away from the main idea. This makes it very hard for the reader to grasp the
purpose quickly. In addition, I take ages to write an essay, and this frustrates me sometimes thus, I
start loosing interest and influence. Altogether, I think learning never ends, therefore, I ll keep trying
to overcome my weaknesses and add more skills to my writing strengths list.
Conclusion
As a final point, the 102 writing course helped me improve my writing skills tremendously. Our
professor used two techniques in class to help us develop our essays which are Peer reviews and
rubrics. Peer reviews gave me an insight of what other people think of what I wrote, and their
comments were taken into consideration

English 105 Composition And Challenging Critical Thinking...
English 105 Composition I familiarize students to the college level writing process through the
construction and revisions of a series of credible and impressive essays. It incorporates unique
research skills and challenging critical thinking skills. English 105 is an introduction to different styles
of writing and the importance writing has as a form of communication. Through disclosure to a variety
of college level reading skills, the students will build critical reading skills, and will be able to respond
to specific learning in a variation of ways. Students will write about their own experiences and
observations and be expected to include research in one or more papers using MLA format for
documentation. I will learn how to read like a writer to see how writers fulfill or challenge reader
expectations. Then, I will apply what I have learned to my own writing career wise and personally.
English 105 focuses on the process of writing well spoken and academic articulation. It offers analysis
skills and vital thinking skills. The course is designed to improve our communication skills so that we
can be more successful at work and academically moving forward. Alternatively, it relates to listening
actively, reading critically, analyzing and evaluating research, and using language effectively. This
course helps us to expand our knowledge base and skills. This course is generally taken by all

because he had drawn the shortest straw, I promised myself I would not disappoint him. The path to

Amidst all the negative criticism I received from family and outsiders, telling me my fantasy to

Looking back, that city league basketball experience should have deterred me from ever striving for
my goals, instead it has made me stronger. I have since transformed from a frightened little boy with
no sense of dignity to an equal among my teammates and my peers. Like Coach Grant always said

Supersequences Of Discussion And Interpretance Of...
6.0 Discussion and Interpretation 6.1 Source Rock The major source units modelled for both transects
include the blue whale supersequence, the upper white point supersequence and the tiger
supersequences, these three units are considered to have the highest potential of having sourced
hydrocarbons that we preserved in traps. 6.2 Reservoir Fluviodeltaic sandstones of the Potoroo
Formation have excellent reservoir potential (net to gross ratio of more than 70% and porosities over
35% in Potoroo 1, and well over 20% in Gnarlyknots 1A even below 3000 m), but they may lack an
adequate regional seal. However, thick and laterally extensive claystone units within the Hammerhead
Supersequence are likely to be present and provide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other principal reservoir candidates are deltaic sandstones of the Ceduna and Platypus formations,
where porosities of up to 30% have been encountered. Locally, marine sandstones of the Tiger
Supersequence (Wigunda and Potoroo formations) also have excellent reservoir quality. Away from
regional highs, prodelta mudstone of the Wigunda Formation provides an effective seal for these
highly porous intervals. Of secondary interest are fluviolacustrine lithologies intersected within the
Loongana and lower Borda formations. Although of highly variable reservoir quality, these intervals
have poor to moderate overall porosity, mainly due to the high depth of burial. Shales of the Madura
and Toondi formations and intraformational shale of the Loongana Formation can provide adequate
seal for these potential reservoirs. Major cap rocks exist in the Borda and Neptune formations.
Excellent quality reservoir rocks have been encountered in the overlying Eucla Basin, within the
marine Wobbegong Supersequence (Pidinga Formation and Hampton Sandstone). 6.4 Timing of
Maturation and Migration Present day maturity levels, based on the constraints described above, are
shown in Figure 16. On the northern transect (Fig. 16a), the oil window is typically reached at depths
between 2.0 and 2.5 km below sea surface. Thus, along this transect, the lower Tiger Supersequence is
mature for oil generation in the central part of the

Managing an Event`s Operations
Event operations are concerned with the implementation of the plans that have been made prior to an
event and are key to achieving the organisation`s objectives. The aim of this writing is to discuss the
approaches to the event operation process. There are four main parts to the writing, followed by a
conclusion. Firstly , there will be definitions of strategic and operational planning and the relationship
between the two , followed by definitions of risk and how it relates to health and safety and how these
are managed in the events industry.
The third part will focus on the importance of sound financial planning and the role of budgeting ...

put in place . and say that these are a set of plans which detail the skills and resources needed to
manage an event.
This is supported by O`Toole (2011:253) who says , Event operations are concerned with the day to
day management of an event and include the implementation , control and administration of the
planning process. The operations of the event are the attendee`s main experience . The site, the
logistics and the programme are the areas of concern . O`Toole adds that operations result from
decisions made by management long before the event occurs. Bladen et al (2012) define the planning
stage as involving developing a concept, carrying out a feasibility study ,choosing a venue and
considering the event design . O`Toole (2011:264 ) also stresses the importance of the feasibility study
with an action as a result of the study ,saying, This is whether or not it should lead to an event .
Then action plans can be created from the strategies to form detailed operational plans to include the
number of planned attendees ,timings and space required. This might include single use plans for non

There Is Always Two Sides Of A Story Analysis
There is always two sides to a story is a common saying but when it comes to literature, the side of the
story that is told depends on the narrator. Stories written in first person point of view usually have an
unreliable narrator. This is mainly due to the fact that all of the information about the events in the
story only come from one side. The unreliability of first person narrative is shown in the three stories,
A P by John Updike, The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, and Young Man on Sixth Avenue
by Mark Halliday. The narrators are influenced by the time period they live in since the social norms
of that time impact their actions. They are also motivated by their own personal emotions which
influence how the narrators see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The audience only gets to see the other characters based on the narrator s opinions. Other factors such
as age and time period affect the narrators points of views as well. For example, Sammy is a teenage
boy that idolizes the three girls that walk into A P. Since the girls are pretty and in bathing suits, this
seems like a natural reaction from someone like Sammy. Had the story been told from someone else s
point of view, they might not have described the girls the same way. For Montresor and the narrator in
Man on Sixth Avenue , the time period that their stories take place in are a prominent factor in how
they act, 1800 Italy and early 1900 New York City respectively. Montresor most likely would not have
attempted murder on Fortunato had the story been set in modern times. The man in Man on Sixth
Avenue would also most likely explained his experience in New York City much differently if he had
been there in a different time period. All of these other story elements affect the way that each narrator
tells the story and how the audience will feel about the story subsequently. First person narrative limits
the audience s ability to see all sides of a story, but not knowing every detail of every character makes
a story that much more

Turing Test Paper
Computationalists and representationalists believe that machines can think. Like Alan Turing they
believe a simple test called the Turing Test will be sufficient to prove consciousness because
intelligence is an operational attribute that allows symbol manipulation. (Heil, 115) In this paper I will
argue that their claim is bogus, computers could never, in their current state, be classified as a minded.
Thus the Turing Test is an invalid test. The Turing Test, created by Alan Turing, tests for intelligence
in a systematic way, giving intelligence an operational meaning. Turing believed that humans could
one day create an artificial intelligence (AI for short) since his definition was liberal. The basic
premise of the Turing Test is that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Neurotransmission Process Neurotransmission also known as synaptic transmission refers to a
communication process between neurons by the movement of chemicals or electrical signals across a

postsynaptic potentials also called membrane potential, or longer term changes depends on the
stimulation of signaling cascades. It is essential for nerve impulses to assist in the propagation of

Herodotus And Sima Qi The First Great Historians Essay
Herodotus and Sima Qian: The First Great Historians of Greece and China is a book that provides
historical context on both ancient Greece and ancient China written by Thomas R. Martin;
Additionally the book provides primary source documents written by ancient historians Herodotus and
Sima Qian, who tell the history of their nations through numerous anecdotes. Although the two
historians have different motives behind their works since Sima Qian writes the history of ancient
China for personal gain and Herodotus writes to preserve the history and doings of ancient Greece,
they both share topics such as honor in war and women in leadership positions that represent the
morals and ideals of the two ancient civilizations.
The contrast in the motivation behind the creation of these two works is created through the attitudes

The Outsourcing of American Jobs Essay
The Outsourcing of American Jobs
The exporting of American jobs is an issue that is important and will become increasingly so as more
and more white collar jobs are shipped overseas. American companies in the past few decades have
been sending American jobs overseas paying residents of other countries pennies on the dollar what
they had paid American workers to do. This saves the companies millions of dollars on labor costs but
costs Americans precious jobs.
As the problem of job outsourcing becomes more of an issue in politics, elected officials like the
President and Congress will no longer be able to ignore the dilemma. The war in Iraq has been at the
forefront of the presidential race but the importance of outsourcing ... Show more content on

issue and avoid taking a strong stance on this issue will lose votes when it comes to election time and
that doesn t serve in the best interest for any politician. The other big player in this issue is big
business. As labor is offered at cheaper rates overseas, it is very tempting for businesses to take
advantage of that resource. Saving money is a great way to raise profits and stock values of
companies. This brings up the hardest part of this issue. Americans own stock in the big companies
that outsource jobs, if the company does well then the stock does well and it helps the investor. The
average family makes between 33 to 45 thousand dollars a year. People in this bracket generally rely
on their job to provide income and security for their family, not the value of stock. The middle class is
taking the biggest hit and has the most to loose from outsourcing. The middle class has traditionally

Thus, their sudden removal can contribute to increase the Earth temperature.
His suggestion is to perform a more general observation about climate change such as the Gaia
modelling, or use the whole Earth system approach that will include not only the physical property of
the Earth, but also the effects (positives and negatives) of all living organisms on the climate system.
Using this type of approach, he believed that it will contribute to answer the most important question
in climate changes: how much and how fast is the Earth heating?
Chapter 3: Consequences and Survival
The author made the interesting analogy concerning the reaction of our governments to the deadly
seriousness of climate changes comparing it to a patient being informed that he has cancer. First there
is denial, then the desperate search for a cure. But as he mentioned, we are not close to find a solution.
In fact, he declared that the assumption that we could stabilize the Earth`s temperature by reducing our
emission of carbon dioxide by 60 % has no objective foundations in science. He supported his
statement on the notion that humans are responsible for nearly half of the emission of carbon dioxide
and, meeting this goal could not be achieved without a great loss of life? This option is not realistic for
him.
He informed us that based on IPCC reports (2007); many parts of the world will experience a lack of

The Importance Of False Confessions
Almost any person would at first assume that if another person admitted to a crime, that reasonable
doubt is gone, and that person is guilty. They think, Why would anybody innocent admit to a crime
they did not commit? Statistically, according to the Innocence Project, a foundation that stands to
exonerate the wrongfully convicted, says 23% of people who have been exonerated were in prison for
false confessions. It has also been proven that even individuals free of psychological issues and of
average intelligence are susceptible to making a false confession under the right interrogation
technique. False confessions are an important ethical dilemma and any person serving on a jury or
being accused of a crime, should be aware of the possibility.
Our Rights
According to our constitution, the government may not coerce confessions. We as American citizens
are given rights that protect us from illegally obtained confessions; the first is the Miranda rights
which were established to protect a suspect from unknowingly incriminating themselves and the
second is the voluntariness requirement that prevents coerced confessions from reaching the jury.
These rules govern the admissibility of a confession into evidence, but do not determine false from
true confessions.
False Confessions
A false confession, by definition is admission to a criminal act, usually accompanied by a narrative of
the crime, that that confessor did not commit. According to research out of Cornell University,

Nietzsche Overcoming Nihilism Analysis
Friedrich Nietzsche: Overcoming Nihilism
The understanding of Friedrich Nietzsche s argument suggests that we can overcome nihilism.
Nihilism suggests that all values are untrue and nothing is justifiable, and Nietzsche believes one can
overcome it by revaluating our values (Nietzsche et al. 1887). From the following quote, I understand
that Nietzsche has two main arguments, one of which is a cultural debunking argument which refers to
a social selection and the other is a consequence based argument which is the bad consequences of us
subscribing to the slave morality. Considering these two arguments, Nietzsche notions that by
devaluating our values, one could start seeking power and answers. One final argument Nietzsche
mentions is that we are all incomplete nihilists and we need to become complete nihilists by creating
our own values. All in all, Nietzsche claims that cultural debunking arguments, consequence based
arguments and devaluating our values will help one overcome nihilism.
Firstly, by culturally debunking theories, Nietzsche believes we can find meaning in something that is
not already there. Nihilism states that existence has no aim , unity or truth to it, making life valueless
as a result (1888). Nietzsche states that we have to put meaning into this fictitious world and by doing
so, we can deposit a true world beyond the world we re familiar with. In premise one of the cultural
debunking argument, Nietzsche states that society has a concern with

Essay about Child Development, Nature vs Nurture
.
The nature versus nurture debate is one of the oldest issues in psychology. The debate centers on the
relative contributions ofgenetic inheritance and environmental factors to human development. Some
philosophers such as Plato and Descartes suggested that certain things are inborn, or that they simply
occur naturally regardless of environmental influences. Other well known thinkers such as John Locke
believed in what is known as tabula rasa, which suggests that the mind begins as a blank slate.
According to this notion, everything that we are and all of our knowledge is determined by our
experience.
For example, when a person achieves tremendous academic success, did they do so because they are

Babies begin to take in sensory experiences from the world around them from the moment of birth,
and the environment will continue to exert a powerful influence on behavior throughout life.
Geneticscan have a powerful influence on development, but experiences are equally important. For
example, while the genetic code contains the information on how a child s brain may be pre wired, it
is learning and experience that will literally shape how that child s brain grows and develops.
Final ThoughtsClearly, genetics have an enormous influence on how a child develops. However, it is
important to remember that genetics are just one piece of the intricate puzzle that makes up a child s
life. Environmental variables, including parenting, culture, education and social relationships also play
a vital role.
Nature versus Nurture is a popular debate about whether our genetics, or environmental influences

Both the New England colonies and the Southern colonies seemed as though they might be the same.
They both started out with the majority of people being from England, they were both in the New

New England colonies and the Southern colonies had many common characteristics but these two
regions were very different geographically, politically, and socially. Geographically the New England

In New England, however, because of the lack of need for labor there were very few black slaves and
everyone was relatively equal. A large difference between New England and the Southern colonies is
that when people moved to the New England regions many of them came in communities and
families. In the South because of the many individuals, there was a shortage of women and therefore
population did not grow as quickly. This expansion of cities in the New England colonies led to the
founding of primary and secondary schools for education. Harvard College in Massachusetts was
founded eighty six years before the first college in Virginia. In the South, the few and spread out cities
led to a slow development of schools and many children had tutors instead of attending school. These
two very different social structures developed the character of the regions. As these colonies began to
grow there became a need for a government and the two regions approached this in different ways.
The Southern colonies prohibited taxes unless they were enforced by the grand assembly while New
Englanders kept the right to tax locally whenever the need came. Also, the New England colonies
placed much of their emphasis on town meetings. These meeting were attended by white males and
they demonstrated the democracy that is seen in today s United States. In the Southern colonies the

in the night sky. I chose this one because as I stated, it is very famous, and because it is one of those
constellations that I have seen many times. Orion is a hunter, so the constellation shows a man holding
a club and shield. It is easily recognized by the three stars in a line that form the hunter s belt. The
myth of Orion is an interesting one. Orion was known as a hunter in Greek mythology, and he boasted

Evidence based Practice Changes
To take away from neurology all the discoveries made by Charcot would be to render it

s nursing care would have been person centered and focused on the environment and her physical
factors (Alligood, 2014; Murray McDonald, 2005). Health care professionals of today are fortunate to
now have a clinical description and classification of multiple sclerosis. As a result, with new
discoveries, nurses continue to create, analyze, and evaluate nursing concepts, philosophies and
theories using research based evidence and clinical expertise (Institute of Medicine, 2001).
The new discoveries, quality improvements, and evidence based care that has changed the course of
multiple sclerosis diagnosis, treatment, and care since Jean Martin Charcot and Florence Nightingale s
time is encouraging and exciting for those that live with the disease. New technologies and critical
milestones abound. For example, in 1981 the first MRI pictures of a brain affected by MS was
produced ( Research News and Progress, 2016). Also, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been
instrumental in allowing more precise diagnosis and important biomarkers for determining the effect
of treatments from clinical trials (Koutsouraki Michmizos, 2014). These remarkable advances in

  • 2. Case Study On Knee Replacement 1. My mother has knee pain for many years and recently it has worsened. She has some deformity around the knees and can barely walk more than 10 15 minutes. What should be done? Recent worsening of chronic knee pain and deformity probably indicates that knee arthritis has reached advanced stage i.e. the protective lining of the joint is nearly completely worn out. At this stage, pain medication often doesn t help much. Rather, one may suffer from dangerous side effects of prolonged pain medication therapy on heart, liver, kidney, stomach and intestines. • 3. The Unique Work of Roy DeCarava Roy DeCarava was born in 1919 in New York and became a famous photographer whose subjects focused mostly on urban African Americans and their daily lives. Harlem was where he took most of his photographs. He originally started out painting and first began using a camera to document images he would later use in his painting, but over time began to rely on the camera more until that became his medium for art. Throughout his life, DeCavara was forced to deal with racial discrimination, which in part led him to begin photographing African Americans and their experiences in 20th century America. In the 1940 s DeCarava began shooting a series photographs in Harlem, which later were included in his first solo show in 1950. In 1952, Decarava was awarded Guggenheim Fellowship, and was the first African American photographer to receive this grant. In 1955 he founded A Photographer s Gallery, which was implemented to gain public interest in photography, and eventually closed due to poor sales. He also started a workshop in 1963 specifically for African American photographers. Though he was an acclaimed artist his career as a freelance photographer was never completely stable so he looked for other jobs throughout his life. He became a contract photographer for Sports Illustrated, became an associate professor at Hunter College and eventually became a full time and distinguished professor there. In 1996, the Museum of Modern Art a retrospective of DeCavara s works that travelled to many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Vectors, Biology And Transmission Cycles Vectors, Biology and Transmission Cycles The dengue virus is transmitted from human to human with a few members of Aedes Stegomyia subgenus serving as vectors, the most important one being the Aedes aegypti mosquito as this mosquito represents the bulk of the vector transmissions of the virus. Ae. aegypti mosquitos originate from Africa but due to human transport, they can now be found mostly in many tropical areas around the world. These mosquitos thrive in dark, damp areas in a tropical climate as their growth is slowed in cooler climates. Ae. aegypti have a lifespan of 10 days to 3 weeks. Eggs can hatch within 2 days in tropical climates or up to a week in cooler climates. Larvae are very tolerant to low nutrient sources, mainly feeding of organic particulate matter in the water. They go through 4 instars after which they turn into pupae. They do not eat during this stage and take 2 days to develop into adult mosquitos. Pathogenesis and Immunopathophysiology Once infected for the first time, the host innate defences begin to work on the dengue virus by first initiating the complement system. However, even though the complement system can inhibit the infection from many a virus, it may have either protective or pathogenic roles against the virus depending on the stage of infection and the host. Activation of the complement system initiates several antiviral mechanisms including pathogen opsonisation and/or lysis, and activation of adaptive B and T cell responses. Complement is activated through the classical, lectin and alternative pathways, depending on specific recognition molecules. The complement cascade activates mainly to prime B and T cells to get to work on damage control within the host. However, the pathological effects which come from the complement system can vary in a dengue virus infection. Later during primary infection, IgM antibodies will be produced initially in an attempt to slow down the infection and much later on IgG antibodies specific to the specific dengue virus serotype will be deployed. ... • 7. Essay on Make-up of Life-giving Cells What is a cell? A cell is the structural, functional and biological unit of all organisms (biology online.org). The millions of cells that compose the body give life. These cells work together in synergy to perform the bodily functions God has given man to maintain homeostasis. The cells that work in harmony consist of an array of cells such as, epidermal, nerve, or muscle. As these various cells work together they form a biological machine to give life. Before the discovery the cell, many had their theory of what composed life. This serves as the cell s fluid medium or matrix. This jellylike fluid allows the organelles or little organs to float within it. Cytoplasm also contains many dissolved chemicals. The cytoplasm and organelles use the properties within it to create chemical reactions to produce energy as well as recycling. To give added structure to the cell, the cytoplasm contains a cytoskeleton to prevent being squashed. The cytoskeleton is composed of large, hollow rods called microtubules. This gives rigidity like a buildings steel beams. These beams also hold the organelles in place. The hollow rods act as highways for transporting goods around the cell. The proteins from the ribosomes or protein factories can be packaged into a special container where they are shipped by the microtubules. At the center of the microtubules is the centrosome. This structure is where the microtubules branch off, which is near the middle of the cell. These philosophers were hostile to rationalistic metaphysics, particularly to its unbridled use of speculation, its grandiose claims, and its epistemology grounded in innate ideas) If Locke could account of all human knowledge without making reference to innate ideas, then his theory would be simpler, hence better, than that of Descartes. He wrote, Let us then suppose the mind to be, as we say, white paper, void of all characters, without any ideas: How comes it to be furnished? To his I answer, in one word, from EXPERIENCE. The mind is something like a photograph in that there are feature of a photo that very accurately represent the world, such as a good picture of three people and that each of them has two eyes, one nose, and one mouth, and there are features of the photograph that belong exclusively to the photo (its glossiness, its two dimensionality, the white border around its content). The Importance Of Managing Equality And Diversity Unit 6:10 Introduction As a Senior Staff of London College of Science and Technology, this report will address the importance of effectively managing equality and diversity as well as the dynamics of leading and managing in my Organisation. The task is divided into two: The first task will explain the meaning of equality and diversity, analysis of its legal requirement, implications, policies and procedure, needs and expectations of stakeholder in relation to the organisation policy on equality and diversity. The second task will appraise how to address equality and diversity, evaluate methods of communicating commitment and analyse technique used to review and monitor equality and diversity. Task 1 What is Organisational Equality and diversity? Though, it is sometimes used interchangeably, the terms equality and diversity are not similar. According to Department of Health, Equality is about providing a better society, where everyone can contribute and has the opportunity to fulfil their potential (DoH, 2004). In my view, equality means treating everyone with impartiality and respect, and knowing the needs of individuals. It is about addressing present shortcomings affecting how people participate in society. Diversity means identifying, valuing and taking into cognisance people s different backgrounds, understanding, skills, needs and experiences. However there are many disadvantages to DNA testing, such as a challenge of accuracy, the costs of DNA testing and the possible misuse of DNA. The prospect of a national DNA database in Australia has been heavily criticised with complaints of invasion of privacy and stigma against those with terminal diseases. Another downside to the use of DNA is the misuse of results. Victims with AIDS feel that they might be stigmatised if their DNA is stored in a national database and it could be used against them. The prospect of a genetic database in Australia has been raised recently. The federal police are pushing for a national database to help solve crime and are asking for legislation to be allowed to collect DNA samples from people accused, or suspected of committing an offence (the Australian, 06.12.1997 see appendix one) The proposal has sparked a moral dilemma. Victoria has had a DNA database since 1992 with the reasoning that, if a suspect is cleared, their DNA must be erased off the list. However, recently Victorian government has allowed police to collect samples from more suspected criminals, not just those accused of murder, serious assault or rape. Now they are allowed to collect from those accused of drug trafficking, arson causing death and aggravated burglary. Privacy is also another big issue surrounding the plans for a database. Chairman of the New South Wales privacy council says that the prospect of a genetic database is a cavalier disregard for people s privacy Recently it was passed that all states, apart from Western Australia have the right to compose a DNA database (The Sydney Telegraph, 22.04.2001 see appendix two) and already there had been a few flaws found. • 13. Film Theory Vs. Realism In the initial days of cinema, film theories tended to divide into two opposing views, Formalism and Realism. Formalists believed the formal properties of cinema shaped the way films were made, as well as our responses to them. For formalists, the challenge was to establish film as an independent art form. They found their answer in film s formal properties, which enable the filmmaker to alter reality and create new worlds within the screen. Formalist filmmaking reached its peak in 1920s with Sergei Eisenstein editing technique, and using intellectual montage with startling effect. In contrast, Realist believed the importance of capturing and recording reality. This is where they considered the essence of filmmaking lies. Formalists on the other hand can argue if that were pure cinema then no more actors, no more story, no more sets, which is to say that in the perfect aesthetic illusion of reality there is no more cinema (Bazin, Andre). I disagree, capturing reality can still be an art style and Realism proves that and it s especially highlighted in the period known as Italian Neorealism. Italian Neorealism was a hugely influential film movement. It sprung from the aftermath of WWII and ended around 1951. Since the beginning of time, injustice has been an issue each individual has experienced during his or her daily lives. Even today we still are experiencing riots and protests from African American in order to achieve justice. In Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 by Anna Deavere Smith we see an example of injustice through the Rodney King case and the shooting of Latasha Harlins. Rodney King and Latasha Harlins experienced racial injustice, which can be defined as the denial of rights based on an individual s race or racial background. Both two victims were mistreated for the color of their skin and were stripped from their equal rights and opportunities. In Los Angeles, California, four Los Angeles police officers had been caught beating an unarmed African American motorist, Rodney King. Rodney King had severe injuries due to the beating. The NHS was formed in 1948 after a series of public welfare reforms, and has evolved into the multi billion pound organisation that millions of individuals rely upon today. Eksteins examined ways in which life influenced, imitated, and even became art. Eksteins argues that life and art, as well as death, became so intermeshed as to be indistinguishable from one another. Eksteins contends that because Germans saw themselves as the agent of (inevitable) progress, they felt their role in The Great War was defensive rather than aggressive. To attack Germany was to attack the future. This belief that they must defend their homeland from those who would deny the future, sustained the Germans during and after the war, and into the next one. Other principal reservoir candidates are deltaic sandstones of the Ceduna and Platypus formations, where porosities of up to 30% have been encountered. Locally, marine sandstones of the Tiger Supersequence (Wigunda and Potoroo formations) also have excellent reservoir quality. Away from regional highs, prodelta mudstone of the Wigunda Formation provides an effective seal for these highly porous intervals. Of secondary interest are fluviolacustrine lithologies intersected within the Loongana and lower Borda formations. Although of highly variable reservoir quality, these intervals have poor to moderate overall porosity, mainly due to the high depth of burial. Shales of the Madura and Toondi formations and intraformational shale of the Loongana Formation can provide adequate seal for these potential reservoirs. Major cap rocks exist in the Borda and Neptune formations. Excellent quality reservoir rocks have been encountered in the overlying Eucla Basin, within the marine Wobbegong Supersequence (Pidinga Formation and Hampton Sandstone). 6.4 Timing of Maturation and Migration Present day maturity levels, based on the constraints described above, are shown in Figure 16. The operations of the event are the attendee`s main experience . The site, the logistics and the programme are the areas of concern . • 29. There Is Always Two Sides Of A Story Analysis There is always two sides to a story is a common saying but when it comes to literature, the side of the story that is told depends on the narrator. Stories written in first person point of view usually have an unreliable narrator. This is mainly due to the fact that all of the information about the events in the story only come from one side. The unreliability of first person narrative is shown in the three stories, A P by John Updike, The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe, and Young Man on Sixth Avenue by Mark Halliday. The narrators are influenced by the time period they live in since the social norms of that time impact their actions. They are also motivated by their own personal emotions which influence how the narrators see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The audience only gets to see the other characters based on the narrator s opinions. Other factors such as age and time period affect the narrators points of views as well. For example, Sammy is a teenage boy that idolizes the three girls that walk into A P. Since the girls are pretty and in bathing suits, this seems like a natural reaction from someone like Sammy. Had the story been told from someone else s point of view, they might not have described the girls the same way. For Montresor and the narrator in Man on Sixth Avenue , the time period that their stories take place in are a prominent factor in how they act, 1800 Italy and early 1900 New York City respectively. Montresor most likely would not have attempted murder on Fortunato had the story been set in modern times. The man in Man on Sixth Avenue would also most likely explained his experience in New York City much differently if he had been there in a different time period. All of these other story elements affect the way that each narrator tells the story and how the audience will feel about the story subsequently. First person narrative limits the audience s ability to see all sides of a story, but not knowing every detail of every character makes a story that much more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Herodotus And Sima Qi The First Great Historians Essay Herodotus and Sima Qian: The First Great Historians of Greece and China is a book that provides historical context on both ancient Greece and ancient China written by Thomas R. Although the two historians have different motives behind their works since Sima Qian writes the history of ancient China for personal gain and Herodotus writes to preserve the history and doings of ancient Greece, they both share topics such as honor in war and women in leadership positions that represent the morals and ideals of the two ancient civilizations. This saves the companies millions of dollars on labor costs but costs Americans precious jobs. Congressmen who continue to evade the issue and avoid taking a strong stance on this issue will lose votes when it comes to election time and that doesn t serve in the best interest for any politician. The other big player in this issue is big business. As labor is offered at cheaper rates overseas, it is very tempting for businesses to take advantage of that resource. Saving money is a great way to raise profits and stock values of companies. This brings up the hardest part of this issue. Americans own stock in the big companies that outsource jobs, if the company does well then the stock does well and it helps the investor. They think, Why would anybody innocent admit to a crime they did not commit? Statistically, according to the Innocence Project, a foundation that stands to exonerate the wrongfully convicted, says 23% of people who have been exonerated were in prison for false confessions. It has also been proven that even individuals free of psychological issues and of average intelligence are susceptible to making a false confession under the right interrogation technique. False confessions are an important ethical dilemma and any person serving on a jury or being accused of a crime, should be aware of the possibility. Our Rights According to our constitution, the government may not coerce confessions. We as American citizens are given rights that protect us from illegally obtained confessions; the first is the Miranda rights which were established to protect a suspect from unknowingly incriminating themselves and the second is the voluntariness requirement that prevents coerced confessions from reaching the jury. These rules govern the admissibility of a confession into evidence, but do not determine false from true confessions. • 39. Nietzsche Overcoming Nihilism Analysis Friedrich Nietzsche: Overcoming Nihilism The understanding of Friedrich Nietzsche s argument suggests that we can overcome nihilism. Nihilism suggests that all values are untrue and nothing is justifiable, and Nietzsche believes one can overcome it by revaluating our values (Nietzsche et al. 1887). From the following quote, I understand that Nietzsche has two main arguments, one of which is a cultural debunking argument which refers to a social selection and the other is a consequence based argument which is the bad consequences of us subscribing to the slave morality. Considering these two arguments, Nietzsche notions that by devaluating our values, one could start seeking power and answers. One final argument Nietzsche mentions is that we are all incomplete nihilists and we need to become complete nihilists by creating our own values. All in all, Nietzsche claims that cultural debunking arguments, consequence based arguments and devaluating our values will help one overcome nihilism. Firstly, by culturally debunking theories, Nietzsche believes we can find meaning in something that is not already there. Nihilism states that existence has no aim , unity or truth to it, making life valueless as a result (1888). Nietzsche states that we have to put meaning into this fictitious world and by doing so, we can deposit a true world beyond the world we re familiar with. Other well known thinkers such as John Locke believed in what is known as tabula rasa, which suggests that the mind begins as a blank slate. In the South because of the many individuals, there was a shortage of women and therefore population did not grow as quickly. This expansion of cities in the New England colonies led to the founding of primary and secondary schools for education. Harvard College in Massachusetts was founded eighty six years before the first college in Virginia. In the South, the few and spread out cities led to a slow development of schools and many children had tutors instead of attending school. Evidence based Practice Changes To take away from neurology all the discoveries made by Charcot would be to render it unrecognizable (Jay, 2000, p. 10). However, nurses of today recognize that had Lidwina of Schiedam lived during Jean Martin Charcot s (1825 1893) and Florence Nightingale s era (1859 1969), Lidwina s nursing care would have been person centered and focused on the environment and her physical factors (Alligood, 2014; Murray McDonald, 2005). Health care professionals of today are fortunate to now have a clinical description and classification of multiple sclerosis. As a result, with new discoveries, nurses continue to create, analyze, and evaluate nursing concepts, philosophies and theories using research based evidence and clinical expertise (Institute of Medicine, 2001).
