After analyzing both Google and Bing s search tools, I ve come to the conclusion that Google just
has more to offer. The tool that stands out the most and gave the best results was the Verbatim
option under All results . When using it, Google will only display results specific to the user s
search term or phrase. For example, when I search Gerrymandering , no results containing
synonyms, similar terms, previously used websites, or words from the same stem will appear in my
results. When searching for a phrase such as Gerrymandering in Maryland , the verbatim tool will
only show the user results with that exact phrase. No results containing those words separated
should appear. Another great search tool Google has to offer is the Advanced search , found in
the upper right hand corner under the options button. This tool offers the user many ways to
narrow down their search to find the the exact result their looking for. Some Advanced search
allows users to search by language, region, last updated, file type, usage rights, site or domain
name, where the phrase appears on the site, ranging numbers, and exact words or phrases. This
tool is extremely beneficial to a searcher who knows exactly what they re looking for, but can t
find it in a general search.
While I find that Google offers a more efficient search engine, Bing has some unique search tools

versions of how king Arthur is portrayed. Yet the honor and respect that a king should have remains

Introduction: A major avenue of recycling and saving money is found in the recycling of aluminum
cans. While aluminum cans are often recycled, the process of turning the can itself into a usable
alum is not as well understood. Seeing that the process involves taking an aluminum can and
utilizing heat reductions, filtrations, and mixtures in order to end up with alum crystals helps better
understand how recycling can help save money and resources.

Results and Discussion:
The creation of alum is made through four reactions. The first of these allows the aluminum to
be oxidized with the 50mL of 1.4M KOH which creates a redox reaction. This is shown in the
balanced reaction of 2Al(s)+2KOH(aq)+6H2O(l) 2KAl(OH)4(aq)+3H2(g). The next reaction
comes from the addition of the the 20mL of 6.0M sulfuric acid. This reacts in the mixture to
create 3 parts of the mixture including water, aluminum hydroxide, and potassium sulfate which is
show in the balanced reaction of 2KAl(OH)4+H2SO4(aq) 2Al(OH)3(s)+K2(SO4)3(aq)+2H2O(l).
The third reaction creates aluminum sulfate and hydrogen as shown in the balanced equation of
2Al(OH)3(s)+H2SO4(aq) Al(SO4)3(aq)+6H2)(l). The final reaction that results in alum is found
in the cooling of the third reaction and this allows the crystals to precipitate and this is shown in
the balanced reaction of Al2(SO4)3(aq)+K2SO4(aq)+24H2O(l) 2KAl(SO4)212H2O(l). These four
reactions show how the original aluminum is able to be recycled and made into alum through
addition of acids and usage of heat and cooling to form crystals.
In converting the original 1.1121g of Aluminum can pieces used in the beginning of the process to
