Finding False Memories Of The Mall
Texperiences.
Some people might argue that getting lost in the mall is too common of an experience to demonstrate
false memories. For this argument, Hyman et al. constructed an experiment to show the occurrence of
false memories in less that common childhood events including spilling punch at a wedding and a
sprinkler system going off a at grocery store. For one variation of this study, Hyman et al. implanted
the memory of an overnight hospitalization with a high fever, and possible ear infection. The
participants were told they were going to be asked about events from their childhood based on
information provided by their parents. They were then given the titles of the events (including the
false visit to the hospital) and asked to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some ideas in the field include looking at the response speed of the recollection of memories, and the
emotion felt when recalling the memory (Reisberg). A common assumption is that the confidence with
which memory is recalled could indicate its accuracy. However, there is very little association with
how sure someone is about the occurrence of an event and how accurate their recollection is. We are
often sure of our false memories.
Smith, Ellsworth, and Kassin explain this in their study on Eyewitness Accuracy and Confidence.
They note that most officials in court cases overwhelmingly believe confidence in eyewitness
testimony to be positively correlated with accuracy. To disprove this, they studied about 100
undergraduate students from Stanford University. They had the students watch a car accident,
participate in a filler task, and then answer questions about the car accident. They were asked to rate
the confidence on their answers on a scale of 1 (no clue) to 10 (absolutely sure). The researchers then
computed the correlation of accuracy and confidence and found the same conclusion as Reisberg
explained: confidence can not be solid an indicator of accuracy (Smith 358).
In fact, the more we are asked to recall a memory, the more confident we become, which is
unfortunate because it s easy to create a false memory. Let us take an

Aerosols Research Paper
1. (20) Define the following terms, including method(s) of generation, usual particle size range, and
deposition in the respiratory tract:
a. Aerosols: Aerosols are stable suspensions of solids or liquid particles in air, these can be in the form
of dust, fogs, mists, fibers, fumes, and smoke. Aerosols can vary in particle size, and due to the
varying size of aerosols, they can be found in multiple areas of the respiratory tract. Aerosols are can
be generated many different ways such as from a burning material, a liquid that is boiling, sand
blasting, sweeping, condensation, and evaporation.

Smaller particles with an AED of 1 5µm are captured here. The most common method of particulate
accumulation in this area is due to sedimentation, air has slowed enough to allow particulates to settle.
The alveolar region consists of the lower lung area and gas exchange regions. The air velocity in these
regions are very low, surface areas have increased while the size of conducting airways has greatly
decreased. Particles trapped in these regions generally have an AED of less than 1µm.
The entire airway passage system acts like a large filter. As you enter the HAR where airways are
large and velocity is high, mucosal cells and other filtration methods trap larger particles. As air
continues to the final destination, air passages greatly increase, surface area increases, while size of
these passages decrease in diameter, and air velocity greatly decreases. The decrease in size and
velocity changes the general mechanisms for deposition where in the HAR it would largely be due to
impaction, eventually it is reduced to sedimentation and diffusion. 4. (20) Metals are classified

The Pullman Strike Of 1894
The Pullman Strike of 1894 On May 11th, 1894, one of the most violent labor strikes in American
history took place in Pullman, Illinois. This labor strike, initiated by the American Railway Union
(ARU) and led by Eugene Debs against the extremely wealthy and powerful George Pullman and his
company, the Pullman Palace Car Company. This strike became a turning point in the national battle
regarding U.S. labor laws, and was instrumental in the regulation of corporations by the government.
The event that would eventually give birth to Labor Day took months of riots, struggles, and
ultimately, violence. It showed America how important the lives and wellbeing of American workers
was, and helped the nation recognize the rights that employees ... Show more content on

After gaining more fame and wealth, he started a family, and then created his own town. He passed
away in 1897 after suffering a heart attack, and his memory lives forever in history books as the man
responsible for the greatest and most far reaching of any strike on record in this country, (11
Carwardine). Pullman was known in his town as many things; powerful, intelligent, innovative but he
was also considered to be a terrible person. He was praised for creating a vast productive industry and
the creation of the Pullman Palace Car idea. However, as Carwardine recalls, the very qualities that
made him [Pullman] successful in life, have, untempered with nobler elements, placed him in his
predicament with the American public. Determination and resolution have turned into arrogance and
obstinacy, (28 Carwardine). He was an arrogant man, and if his attitude was different, perhaps the
Strike of the 1890s could have been prevented. The Pullman Strike happened in what s considered a
perfect storm, where all the circumstances kept aggravating the situation. A major part of this storm
was the Panic of 1893, an economic depression that lasted from 1893 to 1897. It began after the
failure of two of the nation s major employers, the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad and the
National Cordage Companies. Suddenly banks, steel mills, and railroads started going bankrupt. An

The second part mainly expounds the relevant article about passing of risks in United Nations
Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods( CISG ), which could help me to explore
the advantages and disadvantages of the delivery principle established by CISG in my dissertation.
Item 3 Journal Article
Juana C, The interplay between Incoterms and the CISG (2013) 32(1), Journal of Law Commerce 58
This article demonstrates that the CISG and Incoterms to some extent mutually supplement and
support each other in terms of passing of risk. Where the regulation provided by Incoterms is
inadequate, rules in CISG can supplement the Incoterm rules and vice versa. And these two
instructions both adopt the delivery principle. Therefore, in order to undertake a research about the
allocation of risk in my dissertation, it is better to combine CISG rules and trade terms in Incoterms
2010. In addition, by comparing CISG and Incoterms 2010, I could have the knowledge of similarity
on the risk rules that is both connecting the passing of risk to the transfer of physical possession, or at
least being placed in the position of having control over the goods. This article also expounded some
differences regarding risk allocation. For instance, the Incoterm rules revised the CISG s rules on

Do Billy Pilgrim Behaviors Make Him Crazy or Mentally Well? Slaughterhouse Five book is antiwar
novel, and it was written by Kurt Vonnegut. The whole story is based on a person Billy Pilgrim, and
he is not stuck in time. Billy time traveling and relives various occasions throughout his life. Billy
Pilgrim is the main character in this book. The narrator tells us that Billy was born in 1922 in Ilium,
New York, the only child of a barber there. He graduated from Ilium High School in the upper third of
his class, and he attended night sessions at the Ilium School of Optometry for one semester before
being drafted for military service in the Second World War (Vonnegut 30). Then, after training he was
sent to Germany during the war. Billy acknowledges diverse values and sees horrible and morbid
occasions in a different contrast to others. Billy also experiences a lifestyle that is not visible to other
people. Many readers would contend that Billy s encounters make him crazy; however, Billy s
experiences with the Tralfamadorians (a group extra terrestrial time travelers) enable him to keep his
wisdom and remain an exceptionally clever, intelligent and happy man. Many readers contend that
Billy is totally crazy. Their position may incorporate the way that Billy never tells anyone about the
planet Tralfamadore when his plane crash, The plane crashes and kills everyone on it but Billy and the

Walt Whitman Influence
There is no question that Walt Whitman had the most significant influence on American literary
history. Along with Emily Dickinson, Whitman represented the Romantic literature era of American
literature. Whitman is known for his distinctive poetic forms and free verse. Whitman s most popular
work Leaves of Grass influenced many future writers that came after him to follow his writing style.
The richness that Leaves of Grass left behind had such a huge impact on American writers of many
different backgrounds and cultures. Whitman s influence can be seen in the works of Ezra Pound,
Langston Hughes, and Sharon Olds.
The influence Walt Whitman had on Ezra Pound is found through Pound s modernist poetic
experiments. At the beginning of Pound s career, he wrote of Whitman, I honor him for he prophesied
me while I can only recognize him as a forebear of whom I ought to be proud (Willard 573). The
following work from Pound was a pact he made with Whitman:
It was you that broke the new wood,
Now is a time for carving.
We have one sap and one root
Let there be commerce between us (quoted in Willard 573).
Pound went on to keep that pact with his many works that include The Cantos, The Condolence, and
To Whistler, American. Like in the 1855 version of Leaves of Grass, Whitman gave a descriptive
image of him in a working dress and large hat, arms akimbo, standing at his ease, this is also matched
by the descriptive image in Pound s Pavannes and Divisions (Willard 573). Whitman

The Food Of Food Industry
Additives in Food
People used to appreciate wholesome, nutritious food. These days, the American diet is comprised of
primarily processed food. Is health being sacrificed for convenience? What is really in the food that
Americans eat? Are all the preservatives and additives hurting consumers more than they are helping?
There are definitely benefits to the modern food industry; however, consumers want to be sure that
these benefits outweigh the risks associated with this new food technology. Food manufacturers seem
to be doing well short term, but consumers do not want to suffer in the long run from all these
unnatural additives and processes. These additional chemicals in food may be causing diseases
without us realizing it. People spend so much time investigating which TV, car or even house to buy.
Certainly, they should spend as much time if not more considering what to fill their shopping carts
with at the grocery store. Even though additives help increase food production and food preservation,
people should be careful about what they eat and try to avoid unnecessary additives because they are
unnatural, unhealthy and compromise the wholesomeness of the food.
Literature Review
Laliberte (n.d.) presented the benefits and risks associated with additives in food and explained that
the new food technology is so popular because it is inexpensive, effective, and convenient. People
enjoy the ease of ready made food and the advertising makes it all the more appealing

Perhaps the greatest threat to Krispy Kreme is the health conscious consumer. With around 240
calories in each donut, Krispy Kreme doughnuts are by far one of the unhealthiest treats you can eat.
As a result, the once sweet Krispy Kreme is going sour in the mouths of those who care about their
personal health. Failure to be proactive in addressing consumer health concerns, such as obesity, high
cholesterol, and diabetes; could result in a significant loss of it s 24.6% of the market share in the
doughnut industry. One thing Krispy Kreme needs to work on is diversifying their product.

Value Chain Analysis And Analysis Essay
Value Chain Analysis
Another point of view is to take a look at the value chain analysis which helps to identify the most
valuable activities of a firm. Wheelen, Hunger, Hoffman, Bamford (2014). In the case of Electrolux, it
would appear that they provide considerable value to the appliance market however; the struggle (as
previously mentioned) has been breaking into emerging markets in this case, China. With considerable
middle class growth in China, the standard of living is rising exponentially; therefore, a large number
of new households will be able to invest in appliances and other household products. The second point
in the value chain analysis begs the question of rarity or more succinctly, can resources be acquired by
one or limited organizations. Resources which are rare and valuable can provide a temporary
competitive advantage. Conversely, when more than a few companies posses the same resource or
utilize the same capability, this can lead to competitive parity. Wheelen et al (2014) Therefore, one
must ask several questions in order to find rare resources. For example; how many companies own a
resource or can perform capability in the same way as Electrolux? And, can a resource be easily
bought in the market by rival companies? In the case of Electrolux the rareness component is
nonexistent because other companies e.g., LG Electronics, Whirlpool and Haier already have a
stronghold in the global market with similar products. Furthermore, China has been known to

Imagery In Devil In The White City
In the nonfiction novel The Devil in the White City, Erik Larson uses Imagery, dark tone, and
oxymorons to portray H. H. Holmes, whose point of view is half of the story, as the Devil incarnate:
evil and subhuman. Larson utilizes imagery to exemplify Holmes character and actions to the
audience. He describes Holmes reaction to a friend s sister s death to give the reader an idea of the
cold inhumanity he possesed. Even though Holmes told Ned how sorry he was about her passing, yet
in his eyes there was only a flat blue calm like that of a lake on a still August morning (123). Larson
presents this imagery to give the reader a clear view of Holmes point of view on death. When he reacts
with such a flat blue calm, the reader can clearly see that he did not posses even the slightest bit of
sincerity. This serves to help the reader see the surface, and allude to what lies beneath. Larson further
proves his inhumanity with the portrayal of Holmes murder of his pregnant fiancée, Julia. Holmes
promised he would marry her, but with the condition that she had to allow him to execute an abortion.
He then held the cloth coated in chloroform over her nose and mouth and within seconds her eyes
fluttered and rolled upwards followed by the inevitable, reflexive disturbance of muscles, like a dream
of running (148). Larson uses words like flutter and rolled to show the reader that her consciousness
fled from her with no objection from her being noted. This is to

How Does Divorce Create Long Term Negative Effects For...
Divorce is one of many controversial subjects in family and human development research. What
inspired me to critically analyze the article Does Divorce Create Long Term Negative Effects for
Children? is the challenge it would be for me to put my bias aside considering I am from a divorced
home. After reading the article and analyzing it over and over, I can t help but think that the writer
answering YES to this controversial question overlooked many variables and over generalized his
findings and research. With Zinsmeister overgeneralizing his research, not considering enough
alternate explanations for long term negative effects divorce, and his lack of relevant information
needed to assess reliability and validity are why I find this article to be insightful but not accurate and
hope to show why.
In the introduction to the article, the authors David Gately and Andrew Schwebel best wrote Karl
Zinsmeister uses studies of children and divorce to argue against the contention made by many parents
that it is better to divorce than to rear children in a marriage with conflict. He maintains that children s

Divorce on Children , and A Catalogue of Behavioral Changes as a platform to prove/explain his
opinions and back them by research.

How Did The Great Awakening Influence The Role Of Religion...
Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, a series of religious revivalist movements took place in the
English colonies of North America. Born out of the declining religious devotion of many colonists, the
revival, known as the Great Awakening, created a new form of Christianity and transformed how
religion was viewed in the colonies. This monumental event had long term effects on North America,
some of which continue to be felt even today. The most notable long term effects included the
transformation of Protestantism and religious worship, the spread of revolutionary zeal due to the
establishment of the American spirit, and the emergence of higher education in America.
The Great Awakening had many lasting effects, one of which was the transformation of religion in
America. The movement gave birth to a new branch of Christianity, known as evangelical Christianity,
as well as a new style of preaching. Traveling preachers used emotion and passion to ignite fear and

The Great Awakening taught people that challenging previous authority, such as the church, was
allowed. People could speak out against the establishment and choose to have their own ideas
regarding religion and society. Thus, people were later less hesitant to speak out against British
authority. Furthermore, the Great Awakening unified people and created a distinct identity. As they
now could choose their religion and lifestyle, people bonded over their similarities and ways of living.
The church, whose authority stemmed from England, was rejected, and thus, the British influence on
people lessened. It was this that allowed people to break free from the British during the Revolution,
as they were now acting as their own entity, rather than a part of Britain. They wanted to preserve their
own freedoms and lifestyles rather than succumb to British authority, which fueled revolutionary

Jean Piajet s Theory Of Cognitive Development
Cognition is the study of the thought processes or mental activity by which we acquire or deal with
knowledge (Thomas Keenan, Sabhadra Evans 2009:157). The first theorist to look into cognitive
development systemically, and the man in which I am going to discuss in this essay is a Swiss
psychologist called Jean Piajet (Drew Weston 1959:455). Piajet viewed intelligence as the individual s
way of adapting to new information about the world (Drew Weston 1959: 456). He believed that
people used two processes to adapt to something new. These two processes are called assimilation and
accommodation (Neil R Carlson, William Bukist and G Neil Martin 2000:408). Assimilation is the
process of incorporating new objects or situations into existing schemas. Accommodation is the
process of altering existing schemas or creating new ones to deal with objects or experiences that don t
fit readily into existing schemas (Jeffrey S Nevid 2009:354). Piajet believed that at different age s
people use a different logic to develop their thoughts. The stages of development introduced by Piajet
are the Sensorimotor stage, the Preoperational stage, the Concrete operational stage and the Formal
operational stage. The stage in which I am going to discuss in detail in this essay is the second stage of
Piajet s theory or the Preoperational stage, as I believe it will be the most relevant stage to myself in
my future profession (Drew Weston 1959:457). The preoperational period lasts from approximately

Bodybuilding Cholesterol Levels
bodybuilding cholesterolOne major mistake that people make when bodybuilding is to ignore the role
of cholesterol in their diet and in their bodies. If you want to know how to healthily begin
bodybuilding, cholesterol is both your friend and your enemy.
What is Cholesterol?
We ve probably all heard that cholesterol is bad, and high cholesterol levels is really bad. But what
does that mean? It turns out that cholesterol is an essential part of a healthy diet. Cholesterol is used in
the brain and throughout the body, helping to transport antioxidants, allowing the proper absorption
and use of steroid hormones like cortisol, testosterone, and estrogen, and is vital to the health of every
cell membrane in your body. Cholesterol is transported via the blood and helps keep your capillaries,
veins, and arteries flexible and healthy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

It turns out there are two types of cholesterol: HDL, or high density lipoprotein, and LDL, or low
density lipoprotein cholesterol. LDL cholesterol can build up in your arteries and cause calcification
and stenosis, or inelasticity, which has lead to LDL being called bad cholesterol. These conditions
cause heart disease and damage the heart.

Global Financial Crisis Case Study
Building it into the system: Firoozye
One observed solution to the realised growth of Uncertainty (of all colours, up to and including
Knightian, radical, Uncertainty) is to attempt to account for it within existent systems, whilst resisting
paradigmatic change of the system environment as a whole. Through examination of the 2016 work of
Firoozye and Ariff , Managing Uncertainty, Mitigating Risk, the logic, justification, and tools of one
such approach will be elucidated.
Firoozye and Ariff diagnose, like many others, that the systems prior to the Global Financial Crisis
were not set up in such a fashion that they could handle when events didn t fall in the correct
probability distributions (i.e., that the highly unlikely did, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Haldane, Hayek s insights laid bare the perils of over active policy if one assumed omniscience ,
throwing the need for radical epistemological reconfiguration intp sharp relief. Here, they highlight
instead his description of uncertainties caused by the dispersal of knowledge . This is not Knightian
Uncertainty, nor does it claim to be, but it is pertinent that this is the groundwork laid. The battle to
eliminate Knightian Uncertainty at the top starts with that of collation and gathering of information to
reduce less pernicious Uncertainty at the bottom.
Central to this is the urge to classify, to create taxonomies so that, even in the instance where deep
Uncertainty does emerge, everything else that can be known, is. This is a wider view than many others
here, implicit in whose work is the assumption that Knightian Uncertainty is a constant, rather than a
symptom of particularly complex environments. It is only through this mapping of classes of
unknowns, and the gradual expansion of information about them, that Firoozye and Ariff aver we are
able to manage Uncertainty and prepare for foreseeable outcomes

GFC and the Debt Crisis
After the global financial crisis in 2008, and the debt crisis in late 2009, which are the start of the
nightmare of the global economy, in early 2012, the global economy are expected to enter into
recovery phase, the International Monetary Fund made an announcement that the world economy has
an expected global economic growth rate at 3.5%, however, the two cuts of the forecast in April and
October (now to 3.3%) shows that the prospect of the global economy situation is not really very
good, actually 2012 is the slowest year of the growth since 2009.
But, the thing is that according to World Bank s announcement, the expected growth rate has been
divided into two parts, developing countries with a growth rate of 5.3% and advanced countries with a
growth rate of 1.4% .( World Bank database,2012)
The rapidly growth of Asian Pacific region
After a significant transformation during the 2000s, the Asian Pacific region countries became a part
of the global supply chains, also the very aggressive consumer power based on the large population,
the low labour cost and high productivity have made this region part of a non ignorable global

Climate Changes And Climate Change
From the observations presented in the paper it is clear that there is direct/indirect link between
extreme events and climate change and the similar observation was found by Seneviratne et al., 2012)
supporting that Climate change has resulted in changes in the occurrence of extreme events.
Moreover, Out of 24 extreme events analyzed in this paper, 12 showed direct or indirect links to
anthropogenic climate change and some could not be explained. Once a change has been detected it is
important to attribute that change to some cause. Attribution, especially to human greenhouse gas
emissions, gives confidence to model projections of the future driven by anthropogenic forcing as well
as predictions of extremes at shorter time scales (Seneviratne and Zwiers, 2015). When an extreme
event occurs, the question of attribution of these events to human induced climate change is of
particular interest. Two schools of thought have emerged in this rapidly developing field. Oxford
quantifies the change in probability of an extreme event of a particular observed magnitude caused by
the human alteration of the climate system whereas Boulder (NOAA s Earth System Research
Laboratory) examines the human induced change in magnitude of an extreme event. While providing
different types of information to stakeholders, both these probabilistic and mechanistic schools of
thought have been shown to be equivalent (Easterling et al 2016). But in some cases, some scientists
have concluded that a

The Court also stated that a claimant would have to demonstrate the bank had acted in bad faith before
civil liability would be entertained.
In its decision the Court of appeal did make reference to the dual pull on Banks in having to comply
with the heavy demands of a regulator whilst mitigating civil actions from potentially disgruntled
customers. It also made reference to a previous court case (De Silva v NatWest Bank 2006) where the
court made specific reference to the meaning of the word suspect . Here, in relations to the claim by
Mr Shah that the reason for the suspicion itself was irrational, negligently self induced and mistaken,
the court confirmed that HSBC merely had to think that there was a possibility, which was more than
fanciful, that the relevant facts exist when completing its SAR. On a wider note the Court also deemed
that in the future having a suspicion may constitute a good defence for Banks.
The subject of tipping off can be one of the most ambiguous subjects within financial organisations.
There are clear laws that have financial and punitive repercussions for those who recklessly or
mistakenly divulge the suspicions of the firm they are working on behalf of. The court here ruled that

The Opening Of Japan And China Essay
Jonah Noel
December 3, 2016
The opening of Japan and China; A love story
Throughout history, dozens of countries have adopted isolationist policies on countless different
occasions. For example, in the United States in the 1930 s, many Americans felt that amidst the Great
Depression, the government should focus its efforts on solving problems at home before intervening in
international affairs. Furthermore, today, totalitarian dictators often isolate their countries in order to
consolidate their power, as is the case in North Korea and Eritrea. Yet while isolationism itself was not
unique to the 19th century, the manner in which both China and Japan departed from isolationist
policies under imperialist pressures was unique.
When Japan and China enacted isolationist policies in the 16th century, Japan and China were among
the most advanced countries in the world. Both nations felt that they did not need to nor desired to
interact with the rest of the world, or intervene in disputes between barbarians (Aizawa 348.) As a
consequence, throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, neither country advanced much technologically.
On the other hand, over that same period the west experienced and reaped the benefits of an industrial
revolution that saw dramatic advances in mathematics, science, and technology. The west
subsequently experienced significant economic growth, and western powers then began building
empires in pursuit of further growth. As a result, when western powers

The Global Financial System Is A Web Of Connections
Srdan Vujnovic
Short Paper Assignment II: LIBOR
The global financial system is a web of connections. It does not matter what country, ethnicity or
religion a person is. It does not matter if you are a democrat, republican, communist, socialist or
anarchist. We all share this common bond money. The following analysis will explain what LIBOR is,
how manipulating LIBOR can have negative effects on the global economy, and what steps the global
financial industry can take to ensure that a similar scandal never occurs again.
I.
Analysis of LIBOR and its manipulation
What the major global banks decide to do can ultimately affect a farmer living in the
Democratic Republic of Congo, thousands of miles away from the people that directly or indirectly
affected his life. One of those ways that people across the globe are connected are through different
financial rates, one of those rates being LIBOR. LIBOR stands for London
Inter Bank Offered Rate. It is one of many benchmarks that banking institutions use to set interest
rates for lending between banks (Romano Peluso). LIBOR is an interest rate that banks charge each
other for overnight, one month, three month, six month and one year loans. It is published in five
currencies which include the Swiss franc, the euro, the pound sterling, the
Japanese yen and of course the dollar (Kimberly Amadeo). While most LIBOR based contracts are
linked to the 3 month rate, the majority of the lending happens overnight. Most banks have a

Urinary System Research Paper
The urogenital tract which is also known as the genitourinary system involves organs that are used for
sexual reproduction and the formation and secretion of urine both in men and woman. The urinary
tract consists of the bladder, kidneys, ureters, and urethra. The kidneys remove metabolic wastes from
the blood. Ureters are a pair of tubular organs that extend from the kidney to the bladder. The bladder
stores urine and empties it into the urethra as an exit. In males, the urethra is also a terminal organ of
the reproductive tract. The male reproductive system also produces, maintains and transports sperms

well being. The effects of parental divorce are often based on adolescent well being, contrary this
paper aims to shed light on the effects on young adults. Research for this paper was collected from a
variety of sources including; web pages and psychological journals, studying well being. The
questions addressed in this paper include how does family and the importance of family effect college
student well being and how does a parental divorce effect college student well being.
Keywords: well being, college, student, divorce, family As Brad Henry, the former governor of
Oklahoma once said families are the compass that guide us. They are the inspiration to reach greater
heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter. According to Collins Dictionary family can be
defined as a group of people living under the same house: household, a group of people who are
related to each other, and a group of things having a common source of familiar features. (Definition
of family. (2010)) Family and well being are both subjective and better described than defined.
Personally I view family as a system of individuals who provide unconditional love and support and
well being is the ability to feel content in where I am personally, this involves finding a reasonable
balance. The topic of family and college student well being is incredibly important, having a support

Going On Vacations In My Life
Going on vacation is supposed to a relaxing, stress free experience, especially during a long weekend
when a monday away from school can be an indispensable time to relax and enjoy a break from the
grind of AP classes and 40 minute prompts. Therefore, my family and I decided it would be great to
spend the long Columbus day weekend in New Hampshire with my grandparents and cousins. My
family has made this voyage probably over a hundred times in the 17 years I ve been alive, enjoying
weekends and school breaks with the rest of my family. The weekend kicks off with a tedious five
hour journey up Route 93, speeding by the commotion of the bustling metropolis of Boston and the
endless lush plains of rural New Hampshire. We settle in for the night, spend time with family, eat
pizza, watch movies, and go to bed. Saturday consists of more of the same, doing typical fall activities
like apple picking and hayrides while spending time with my cousins and uncles. The weekend is
shaping up to be a completely normal fall family weekend and it was, at least until sunday morning.
Who knew that this weekend was about to go awry when I went to do something as simple as take my
dog for a walk? Our grandparents house is surrounded by miles of pure forest, one of the most
beautiful elements of autumn. Endless lengths of luxuriant, golden leaves swallowed the canopy,
lining the brilliant sunday morning sky and reflecting off the immobile lakes clearer than the finest

The plagues in England Essay
In England there were three specific plagues that i will be talking about, they are the bubonic plague
The Black Death , pulmonary plague and the pneumonic plague. These plagues were really interesting
to read about. They were so bad that many people died from them. The doctors didn t know what was
wrong with the people since there was that much new technology in the thirteenth century. The black
death was a deadly epidemic that was spread from Asia to Europe by twelve trading ships that were at
the port of Messina after a long expedition through the Black Sea in the thirteen hundreds by October.
People who congregated on the docks to greet the people saw that most of the people on board were

If plague is evolved within the flea and rat population it is called enzootic. As the plague multiplies, it
blocks the passage of blood to the flea s stomach then threatens starvation; the flea disgorges blood
that is infected with many bacilli into the bloodstream of its entertainer, causing death. The black
plague was not only caused by cargoes from the east, but by the seasonal changes in rat and flea
ecology. London had suffered epidemics in 1563, 1593, 1603, and 1625; quantities of people died of
the disease. At first the Bubonic plague was in the west rather than in the east. Unfortunately the
plague became immune to the people. The shift in population, with changes in rat and fleas caused
major deaths and diseases in humans. When the plague of 1665 disappeared they didn t need an
explanation. The rats had acquired the immunity. During this horrible time, the weaker people died
while the stronger people developed great immunities. This explained why the plague established
itself far more strongly in London than in any other part of the country. The black rat was later then
replaced with the brown rat, since they lived underground and the fleas wouldn t bite people like the
black rats fleas would.
There are three types of plagues all occurring within humans. Bubonic plague consists in sixty to
eighty percent mortal. The first symptoms appear between thirty six

Atticus Finch Social Class
Social class differentiations show themselves throughout Harper Lee s classic Southern drama To Kill
a Mockingbird. Yet still people find themselves asking: Why is the caste system so prevalent in
Maycomb, Alabama? After all, the division of the classes continues as an important issue in our lives
today. From the mistreatment of the Untouchables in modern day India to the mistreatment of Helen
Robinson by the Ewell family, individuals want answers on why some humans think that they should
receive elevated status among others. The reason is that people willingly discard all common sense to
reach a conclusion that they think sounds right to them. This social hierarchy appears in the Finch,
Cunningham, and Ewell families. The Finches are a respected family near the top of the social food
chain in Maycomb. Despite the fact that they have many things compared to many other people in
their hometown, Atticus considers them poor. Are we poor, Atticus? Atticus nodded. We are indeed
(21). This may be because, though they are not as poor as the Cunninghams, Atticus is attempting to
blend the social classes together, and trying to make it less of a big deal. This shows that the Finches

The Importance Of Characterism In White Fang By Jack London
In White Fang is a fiction story. It was written by the American author, Jack London. This book has an
abundance of importance because of what it covers while you are reading it. It shows the challenges of
life being in the Yukon. The book White Fang also shows how harsh nature can be and how the human
race can do can do better than nature or sufficiently worse. It also shows us how sometimes an animal
is needed to discover what animals we can become. The setting for most of White Fang takes place in
the Yukon Territory. It was a wild area full of wide, flowing rivers and enormous mountains. Even
though it is a place full of beauty there are a large number of ways you can be killed there. In 1896,
Gold was discovered and people swarmed in looking to strike it rich. This only lasted a couple of
years and people left. The last section in the novel is taking place in California. This setting is very
much warmer than the Yukon. It was also less harsh of a place. The point of view in White Fang is
third person limited omniscient. This affects the story by letting us know what the animal characters
are thinking since dogs cannot speak. Third person limited omniscient lets us see a lot of thoughts

Examples Of Choice Blindness
Choice blindness shows that people are not aware of their own choices and preferences. It refers more
to ways which people are blind to their own choices and preferences and more specifically to a short

Choices blindness is tested to show how the mind can be tricked into believing the opposite of
something so much to the point where the individual will defend themselves. It question how much we

Dingo Case Study Essay
1) What is the role of the sun in the food web? The sun plays a very important role in the food web of
the Australian grasslands as all energy that occurs in the food web is taken from the Sun (Arlington
Classics Academy, 2015). However, the Sun does not directly provide the energy the food web. The
energy must be transferred to the producers in the web in order for it to be useful (Arlington Classics
Academy, 2015). This energy is again transferred throughout the web until it eventually reaches the
top level carnivores. Due to this change and transfer of the Sun s energy it s evident that without the
sun the food web would not be able to exist. 2) What will happen to the population of eagles if the
dingoes are trapped and killed? The Wedge Tailed Eagle and the Dingo share a similar diet according
to the food web as both prey on young mammals and marsupials. In this case the removal of the dingo
from the food web would increase the numbers of its prey and would therefore increase the amount of
food available for the Wedge Tailed Eagle. Dingos can also attack the eagles (The Government of

(2010). In a situation such as documenting, a nurse would utilize serial recall, which refers to our
ability to sequentially and chronologically remember events. However, the ... Show more content on

However, informally, nurses can work together to brainstorm the most effective and efficient ways to
accurately chart in a timely manner.
Overall, timely charting should become a habit for the nurses at Excela Home Health and Hospice
Care Service. I believe that the best change theory to set this change in motion is Kotter s 2012 Eight
Step Plan for Integrating Change. This would be the most effective because it is the most specific and
seems as though it could function throughout an entire hospital department. For example, according to
Grossman (2017), Kotter s first step is to identify a need and communicate the necessity (p. 53). In
this scenario, the need would be for more timely charting and the necessity would be to improve
patient care and nurses state of mind (it is hard to function well when tired from staying up all night
charting). The second step is to, create power in numbers to lead the change (p. 53). This would be
done by motivating the supervisors to engage both management and nurses. The third through eighth
steps involve developing the policy, communicating the policy, and then implementing and enforcing
it, and finally evaluating the functionality of the policy after it is in place. Kotter s Eight Step plan is a
very clear cut change theory that I feel covers all of

Multinational Business Corporations Gain More Power
Multinational Business Corporations Gain More Power
The world is entering a period where corporations are gaining more power in society. Multinational
business corporations will ultimately become more powerful than the government. Corporations
influence decisions made by the government by providing campaign funding and lobbying. Businesses
strive to satisfy their consumers wants and needs far well than the government strives to satisfy the
wants of its population. Financial crisis and recession can begin in areas where jobs provided by
corporations are lost, granting businesses power over the job market and gross domestic product. This
essay will address how corporations are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some corporations have larger revenue than the gross domestic product of some countries. Walmart
makes more revenue than Norway s GDP: Norway is the world s 25th largest country with a GDP at
$414.46 billion however still lower than Walmart s revenue which is $421.89 billion (Trivett, 2011).
Developing countries work very hard to attract foreign investments because corporations reward
thousands with jobs, benefit shareholders (rise share prices) and increase global well being. If a
corporation falls down, financial crisis and recession can begin. This power forces the government
keep corporations alive and satisfied so they continue to provide jobs for local residents.
In conclusion, these trends are allowing businesses to play a significantly larger role in people s daily
lives than the government. Corporations continue to grow as they invest in foreign countries thus
increasing their revenue and influencing local societies. Populations are beginning to look at
companies to solve social problems and corporations are doing it at a faster rate than the government.
Lastly, corporations are viewed in a higher regard in the eyes of the public versus the government.
Therefore, corporations will gain more power than the government if these trends continue to strive.

There Has Been An Increase In The Proportion Of Persons...
There has been an increase in the proportion of persons who associate mental illness with
dangerousness, violence, and unpredictability (Markowitz, 2005: 3) With reference to this statement,
what is the public understanding of the nature and extent of mental disorder and how accurate is this?
Intro This essay will look at the public understanding of the nature of mental disorder and to what
extent it is associated with dangerousness and violence. The essay will begin by exploring the public s
perspectives and opinions on the matter and the impact that the mentally ill have on crime rates.
Specific social perspectives will also be explored.. And finally the clinical approach on mental
disorders will be explored and the risk factors and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although stigmatizing attitudes are not only relatable to mental illness, the public attitudes towards
mental illness tend to be more disapproving than towards people with physical illnesses (Piner and
Kahle, 1984; Socall and Holtgraves, 1992; Weiner, Perry and Magnusson, 1988). Those with mental
illnesses are viewed as being more likely to be responsible for their mental illness (Corrigan et al.,
2000; 105). This assumptions is more towards those who suffer from substance additions and eating
disorders rather than those who suffer from conditions such as schizophrenia (Angermeyer and
Matschinger, 2004). Such attitudes as these therefore lead to discrimination. People in society are less
likely to employ (Bordieri and Drehmer, 1986) and rent apartments (Page, 1977) to those suffering
from mental illness, citizens are also more likely to direct false accusations of violence to the mentally
ill. (Explaining the increased arrest rate among mental patients: a cautionary note, 1980; Steadman,
1981) Although the stereotype towards the mentally ill is very current in society, it is not to say that all
of the public agree with it. For example, there are many stereotypes of different ethnic groups but not
everybody would agree with them. In contrast, prejudiced people will endorse these negative
stereotypes, an example of this being that those who are mentally ill are violent , as a consequence this

For this argument, Hyman et al. constructed an experiment to show the occurrence of false memories in less that common childhood events including spilling punch at a wedding and a sprinkler system going off a at grocery store. For one variation of this study, Hyman et al. implanted the memory of an overnight hospitalization with a high fever, and possible ear infection. Some ideas in the field include looking at the response speed of the recollection of memories, and the emotion felt when recalling the memory (Reisberg). A common assumption is that the confidence with which memory is recalled could indicate its accuracy. However, there is very little association with how sure someone is about the occurrence of an event and how accurate their recollection is. We are often sure of our false memories. Smith, Ellsworth, and Kassin explain this in their study on Eyewitness Accuracy and Confidence. They note that most officials in court cases overwhelmingly believe confidence in eyewitness testimony to be positively correlated with accuracy. To disprove this, they studied about 100 undergraduate students from Stanford University. They had the students watch a car accident, participate in a filler task, and then answer questions about the car accident. They were asked to rate the confidence on their answers on a scale of 1 (no clue) to 10 (absolutely sure). The researchers then computed the correlation of accuracy and confidence and found the same conclusion as Reisberg explained: confidence can not be solid an indicator of accuracy (Smith 358). In fact, the more we are asked to recall a memory, the more confident we become, which is unfortunate because it s easy to create a false memory. Let us take an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Smaller particles with an AED of 1 5µm are captured here. The most common method of particulate accumulation in this area is due to sedimentation, air has slowed enough to allow particulates to settle. The alveolar region consists of the lower lung area and gas exchange regions. The air velocity in these regions are very low, surface areas have increased while the size of conducting airways has greatly decreased. Particles trapped in these regions generally have an AED of less than 1µm. The entire airway passage system acts like a large filter. As you enter the HAR where airways are large and velocity is high, mucosal cells and other filtration methods trap larger particles. As air continues to the final destination, air passages greatly increase, surface area increases, while size of these passages decrease in diameter, and air velocity greatly decreases. The decrease in size and velocity changes the general mechanisms for deposition where in the HAR it would largely be due to impaction, eventually it is reduced to sedimentation and diffusion. 4. He passed away in 1897 after suffering a heart attack, and his memory lives forever in history books as the man responsible for the greatest and most far reaching of any strike on record in this country, (11 Carwardine). Pullman was known in his town as many things; powerful, intelligent, innovative but he was also considered to be a terrible person. He was praised for creating a vast productive industry and the creation of the Pullman Palace Car idea. However, as Carwardine recalls, the very qualities that made him [Pullman] successful in life, have, untempered with nobler elements, placed him in his predicament with the American public. He was an arrogant man, and if his attitude was different, perhaps the Strike of the 1890s could have been prevented. The Pullman Strike happened in what s considered a perfect storm, where all the circumstances kept aggravating the situation. In addition, by comparing CISG and Incoterms 2010, I could have the knowledge of similarity on the risk rules that is both connecting the passing of risk to the transfer of physical possession, or at least being placed in the position of having control over the goods. This article also expounded some differences regarding risk allocation. For instance, the Incoterm rules revised the CISG s rules on delivery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Walt Whitman Influence There is no question that Walt Whitman had the most significant influence on American literary history. Along with Emily Dickinson, Whitman represented the Romantic literature era of American literature. Whitman is known for his distinctive poetic forms and free verse. Whitman s most popular work Leaves of Grass influenced many future writers that came after him to follow his writing style. The richness that Leaves of Grass left behind had such a huge impact on American writers of many different backgrounds and cultures. Whitman s influence can be seen in the works of Ezra Pound, Langston Hughes, and Sharon Olds. The influence Walt Whitman had on Ezra Pound is found through Pound s modernist poetic experiments. At the beginning of Pound s career, he wrote of Whitman, I honor him for he prophesied me while I can only recognize him as a forebear of whom I ought to be proud (Willard 573). The following work from Pound was a pact he made with Whitman: It was you that broke the new wood, Now is a time for carving. We have one sap and one root Let there be commerce between us (quoted in Willard 573). Pound went on to keep that pact with his many works that include The Cantos, The Condolence, and To Whistler, American. Like in the 1855 version of Leaves of Grass, Whitman gave a descriptive image of him in a working dress and large hat, arms akimbo, standing at his ease, this is also matched by the descriptive image in Pound s Pavannes and Divisions (Willard 573). • 11. The Food Of Food Industry Additives in Food People used to appreciate wholesome, nutritious food. These days, the American diet is comprised of primarily processed food. Is health being sacrificed for convenience? What is really in the food that Americans eat? Are all the preservatives and additives hurting consumers more than they are helping? There are definitely benefits to the modern food industry; however, consumers want to be sure that these benefits outweigh the risks associated with this new food technology. Food manufacturers seem to be doing well short term, but consumers do not want to suffer in the long run from all these unnatural additives and processes. These additional chemicals in food may be causing diseases without us realizing it. People spend so much time investigating which TV, car or even house to buy. Certainly, they should spend as much time if not more considering what to fill their shopping carts with at the grocery store. Even though additives help increase food production and food preservation, people should be careful about what they eat and try to avoid unnecessary additives because they are unnatural, unhealthy and compromise the wholesomeness of the food. Literature Review Laliberte (n.d.) presented the benefits and risks associated with additives in food and explained that the new food technology is so popular because it is inexpensive, effective, and convenient. • 13. Value Chain Analysis And Analysis Essay Value Chain Analysis Another point of view is to take a look at the value chain analysis which helps to identify the most valuable activities of a firm. Wheelen, Hunger, Hoffman, Bamford (2014). In the case of Electrolux, it would appear that they provide considerable value to the appliance market however; the struggle (as previously mentioned) has been breaking into emerging markets in this case, China. With considerable middle class growth in China, the standard of living is rising exponentially; therefore, a large number of new households will be able to invest in appliances and other household products. The second point in the value chain analysis begs the question of rarity or more succinctly, can resources be acquired by one or limited organizations. Resources which are rare and valuable can provide a temporary competitive advantage. Conversely, when more than a few companies posses the same resource or utilize the same capability, this can lead to competitive parity. Wheelen et al (2014) Therefore, one must ask several questions in order to find rare resources. For example; how many companies own a resource or can perform capability in the same way as Electrolux? And, can a resource be easily bought in the market by rival companies? In the case of Electrolux the rareness component is nonexistent because other companies e.g., LG Electronics, Whirlpool and Haier already have a stronghold in the global market with similar products. • 14. Imagery In Devil In The White City In the nonfiction novel The Devil in the White City, Erik Larson uses Imagery, dark tone, and oxymorons to portray H. H. Holmes, whose point of view is half of the story, as the Devil incarnate: evil and subhuman. Larson utilizes imagery to exemplify Holmes character and actions to the audience. He describes Holmes reaction to a friend s sister s death to give the reader an idea of the cold inhumanity he possesed. Even though Holmes told Ned how sorry he was about her passing, yet in his eyes there was only a flat blue calm like that of a lake on a still August morning (123). Larson presents this imagery to give the reader a clear view of Holmes point of view on death. When he reacts with such a flat blue calm, the reader can clearly see that he did not posses even the slightest bit of sincerity. This serves to help the reader see the surface, and allude to what lies beneath. Larson further proves his inhumanity with the portrayal of Holmes murder of his pregnant fiancée, Julia. Holmes promised he would marry her, but with the condition that she had to allow him to execute an abortion. He then held the cloth coated in chloroform over her nose and mouth and within seconds her eyes fluttered and rolled upwards followed by the inevitable, reflexive disturbance of muscles, like a dream of running (148). Larson uses words like flutter and rolled to show the reader that her consciousness fled from her with no objection from her being noted. This is to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What inspired me to critically analyze the article Does Divorce Create Long Term Negative Effects for Children? is the challenge it would be for me to put my bias aside considering I am from a divorced home. After reading the article and analyzing it over and over, I can t help but think that the writer answering YES to this controversial question overlooked many variables and over generalized his findings and research. With Zinsmeister overgeneralizing his research, not considering enough alternate explanations for long term negative effects divorce, and his lack of relevant information needed to assess reliability and validity are why I find this article to be insightful but not accurate and hope to show why. In the introduction to the article, the authors David Gately and Andrew Schwebel best wrote Karl Zinsmeister uses studies of children and divorce to argue against the contention made by many parents that it is better to divorce than to rear children in a marriage with conflict. He maintains that children s sense of stability and family structure supersedes parental needs. Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, a series of religious revivalist movements took place in the English colonies of North America. Born out of the declining religious devotion of many colonists, the revival, known as the Great Awakening, created a new form of Christianity and transformed how religion was viewed in the colonies. This monumental event had long term effects on North America, some of which continue to be felt even today. The most notable long term effects included the transformation of Protestantism and religious worship, the spread of revolutionary zeal due to the establishment of the American spirit, and the emergence of higher education in America. Jean Piajet s Theory Of Cognitive Development Cognition is the study of the thought processes or mental activity by which we acquire or deal with knowledge (Thomas Keenan, Sabhadra Evans 2009:157). The first theorist to look into cognitive development systemically, and the man in which I am going to discuss in this essay is a Swiss psychologist called Jean Piajet (Drew Weston 1959:455). Piajet viewed intelligence as the individual s way of adapting to new information about the world (Drew Weston 1959: 456). He believed that people used two processes to adapt to something new. These two processes are called assimilation and accommodation (Neil R Carlson, William Bukist and G Neil Martin 2000:408). Assimilation is the process of incorporating new objects or situations into existing schemas. Accommodation is the process of altering existing schemas or creating new ones to deal with objects or experiences that don t fit readily into existing schemas (Jeffrey S Nevid 2009:354). Piajet believed that at different age s people use a different logic to develop their thoughts. The stages of development introduced by Piajet are the Sensorimotor stage, the Preoperational stage, the Concrete operational stage and the Formal operational stage. The stage in which I am going to discuss in detail in this essay is the second stage of Piajet s theory or the Preoperational stage, as I believe it will be the most relevant stage to myself in my future profession (Drew Weston 1959:457). The battle to eliminate Knightian Uncertainty at the top starts with that of collation and gathering of information to reduce less pernicious Uncertainty at the bottom. Central to this is the urge to classify, to create taxonomies so that, even in the instance where deep Uncertainty does emerge, everything else that can be known, is. This is a wider view than many others here, implicit in whose work is the assumption that Knightian Uncertainty is a constant, rather than a symptom of particularly complex environments. Climate Changes And Climate Change From the observations presented in the paper it is clear that there is direct/indirect link between extreme events and climate change and the similar observation was found by Seneviratne et al., 2012) supporting that Climate change has resulted in changes in the occurrence of extreme events. Moreover, Out of 24 extreme events analyzed in this paper, 12 showed direct or indirect links to anthropogenic climate change and some could not be explained. Once a change has been detected it is important to attribute that change to some cause. Attribution, especially to human greenhouse gas emissions, gives confidence to model projections of the future driven by anthropogenic forcing as well as predictions of extremes at shorter time scales (Seneviratne and Zwiers, 2015). When an extreme event occurs, the question of attribution of these events to human induced climate change is of particular interest. Two schools of thought have emerged in this rapidly developing field. Oxford quantifies the change in probability of an extreme event of a particular observed magnitude caused by the human alteration of the climate system whereas Boulder (NOAA s Earth System Research Laboratory) examines the human induced change in magnitude of an extreme event. • 26. The Opening Of Japan And China Essay Jonah Noel December 3, 2016 The opening of Japan and China; A love story Throughout history, dozens of countries have adopted isolationist policies on countless different occasions. For example, in the United States in the 1930 s, many Americans felt that amidst the Great Depression, the government should focus its efforts on solving problems at home before intervening in international affairs. Furthermore, today, totalitarian dictators often isolate their countries in order to consolidate their power, as is the case in North Korea and Eritrea. Yet while isolationism itself was not unique to the 19th century, the manner in which both China and Japan departed from isolationist policies under imperialist pressures was unique. When Japan and China enacted isolationist policies in the 16th century, Japan and China were among the most advanced countries in the world. Both nations felt that they did not need to nor desired to interact with the rest of the world, or intervene in disputes between barbarians (Aizawa 348.) As a consequence, throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, neither country advanced much technologically. On the other hand, over that same period the west experienced and reaped the benefits of an industrial revolution that saw dramatic advances in mathematics, science, and technology. The west subsequently experienced significant economic growth, and western powers then began building empires in pursuit of further growth. As a result, when western powers ... Therefore, my family and I decided it would be great to spend the long Columbus day weekend in New Hampshire with my grandparents and cousins. My family has made this voyage probably over a hundred times in the 17 years I ve been alive, enjoying weekends and school breaks with the rest of my family. The weekend kicks off with a tedious five hour journey up Route 93, speeding by the commotion of the bustling metropolis of Boston and the endless lush plains of rural New Hampshire. We settle in for the night, spend time with family, eat pizza, watch movies, and go to bed. Saturday consists of more of the same, doing typical fall activities like apple picking and hayrides while spending time with my cousins and uncles. The weekend is shaping up to be a completely normal fall family weekend and it was, at least until sunday morning. Who knew that this weekend was about to go awry when I went to do something as simple as take my dog for a walk? Our grandparents house is surrounded by miles of pure forest, one of the most beautiful elements of autumn. Endless lengths of luxuriant, golden leaves swallowed the canopy, lining the brilliant sunday morning sky and reflecting off the immobile lakes clearer than the finest glass. The early autumn ... The plagues in England Essay In England there were three specific plagues that i will be talking about, they are the bubonic plague The Black Death , pulmonary plague and the pneumonic plague. These plagues were really interesting to read about. They were so bad that many people died from them. The doctors didn t know what was wrong with the people since there was that much new technology in the thirteenth century. The black death was a deadly epidemic that was spread from Asia to Europe by twelve trading ships that were at the port of Messina after a long expedition through the Black Sea in the thirteen hundreds by October. People who congregated on the docks to greet the people saw that most of the people on board were dead, and the people who were still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If plague is evolved within the flea and rat population it is called enzootic. As the plague multiplies, it blocks the passage of blood to the flea s stomach then threatens starvation; the flea disgorges blood that is infected with many bacilli into the bloodstream of its entertainer, causing death. The black plague was not only caused by cargoes from the east, but by the seasonal changes in rat and flea ecology. London had suffered epidemics in 1563, 1593, 1603, and 1625; quantities of people died of the disease. At first the Bubonic plague was in the west rather than in the east. Unfortunately the plague became immune to the people. The shift in population, with changes in rat and fleas caused major deaths and diseases in humans. When the plague of 1665 disappeared they didn t need an explanation. The rats had acquired the immunity. During this horrible time, the weaker people died while the stronger people developed great immunities. This explained why the plague established itself far more strongly in London than in any other part of the country. The black rat was later then replaced with the brown rat, since they lived underground and the fleas wouldn t bite people like the black rats fleas would. There are three types of plagues all occurring within humans. Bubonic plague consists in sixty to eighty percent mortal. The first symptoms appear between thirty six ... Yet still people find themselves asking: Why is the caste system so prevalent in Maycomb, Alabama? After all, the division of the classes continues as an important issue in our lives today. From the mistreatment of the Untouchables in modern day India to the mistreatment of Helen Robinson by the Ewell family, individuals want answers on why some humans think that they should receive elevated status among others. The reason is that people willingly discard all common sense to reach a conclusion that they think sounds right to them. This social hierarchy appears in the Finch, Cunningham, and Ewell families. The Finches are a respected family near the top of the social food chain in Maycomb. Despite the fact that they have many things compared to many other people in their hometown, Atticus considers them poor. Are we poor, Atticus? Atticus nodded. We are indeed (21). This may be because, though they are not as poor as the Cunninghams, Atticus is attempting to blend the social classes together, and trying to make it less of a big deal. The sun plays a very important role in the food web of the Australian grasslands as all energy that occurs in the food web is taken from the Sun (Arlington Classics Academy, 2015). However, the Sun does not directly provide the energy the food web. The energy must be transferred to the producers in the web in order for it to be useful (Arlington Classics Academy, 2015). This energy is again transferred throughout the web until it eventually reaches the top level carnivores. Due to this change and transfer of the Sun s energy it s evident that without the sun the food web would not be able to exist. 2) What will happen to the population of eagles if the dingoes are trapped and killed? The Wedge Tailed Eagle and the Dingo share a similar diet according to the food web as both prey on young mammals and marsupials. In this case the removal of the dingo from the food web would increase the numbers of its prey and would therefore increase the amount of food available for the Wedge Tailed Eagle. I believe that the best change theory to set this change in motion is Kotter s 2012 Eight Step Plan for Integrating Change. This would be the most effective because it is the most specific and seems as though it could function throughout an entire hospital department. For example, according to Grossman (2017), Kotter s first step is to identify a need and communicate the necessity (p. 53). In this scenario, the need would be for more timely charting and the necessity would be to improve patient care and nurses state of mind (it is hard to function well when tired from staying up all night charting). The second step is to, create power in numbers to lead the change (p. 53). This would be done by motivating the supervisors to engage both management and nurses.
