not listen to his sad story. Faye should use her sexuality to escape. There s no obstacles for the
characters to overcome in this script. The set up to Faye s abduction needs more time to
develop. Need to show that the taxi driver was following the girls. There is no time for the
audience to catch up to the action. For example, the taxi driver needs to be watching Faye. The

something that most people experience at some point or another through fictional novels or a
biography, or a speech. The question is how do they do it and why. Through their use of stories and
word choice authors are able to heighten emotional intensity in order to manipulate the reader into
feeling certain emotions. In a paper or speech where authors are trying to persuade, authors create
these emotions because their audience is more likely to accept their argument and want to bring
change if they are emotionally invested in something. One particular author that is very good at this
is Elie Wiesel. In his speech, Perlis of Indifference, he describes his experience during the holocaust.
He is able to evoke emotions of remorse, and guilt from the audience by telling his story with vivid
details, and sharing his definition of indifference with the audience. He does this so we understand

Three Cups of Tea by David Oliver Relin and Greg Mortenson tells a story that takes the reader
along an adventure, up mountains, and across the world. Mortenson is a mountaineer that ends
up in Korphe, Pakistan after he fails to climb K2. It is here where he sees poverty unlike
anywhere he has yet to be. Mortenson, struck by shock, promises to come back to the small
village and build a school in hopes of turning the place around. He ends up raising enough money
to fulfil his promise, being promoted to the director of the Central Asia Institute which build
schools across the country, and begins to focus more on girls education. Throughout the novel, the
overall tone was direct and straightforward, and it is essentially journalistic due to the third person
point of view and changing narration. Mortenson discovers a purpose from the result of being lost
in a quest to fulfil his duty of director and the continuation of being a humanitarian in these
developing countries which is one of the author s purposes of writing this book. In Three Cups of
Tea, there are many points in time when Mortenson thinks he has gone in the wrong direction, but
ironically ends up right where he needs to be after all which ends up being the main theme of the
book: making the best out of a bad situation.

The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is a large feline (family Felidae, subfamily Felinae) inhabiting
most of Africa and parts of Iran. It is the only extant member of the genus Acinonyx. The cheetah
can run faster than any other land animal as fast as 110 to 120 km/h (68 to 75
mph)[3][4][5][6][7][8] in short bursts covering distances up to 500 m (1,600 ft), and has the ability
to accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h (60 mph) in three seconds.[9]

William Mullholland designed and supervised the construction of the Los Angeles
aqueduct, a 200 mile system to transfer water from Owens Valley to the San Fernando Valley. In
March 1928, the St. Francis Dam failed and Mulholland s career was in shambles. In the article

Three ideals and traditions of the Roman Republic, lust for power, greed, and loyalty, each
contributed to the collapse of the Republic. Desire for power played a major role in the collapse

Identity theory focuses more on the family views on relationships between the mind and body. This
theory states that the mind and body don t necessary need to be connected, but can be. It also states
that if the chemical state of the brain is doing something, then the mind is doing something in
relationship to it. In other words the mind is the exact same as the brain and mental and brain
events are identical.
There are two types of Identity theory; type identity theory and token identity theory. These theories
make a distinction between general and particular identities . Type identity theory focuses on how

Low Literacy Is A Prevalent Problem Among Adults
Reading is a skill often taken for granted by many in today s modern society; however, low literacy
is a prevalent problem among adults in the United States with potentially devastating consequences.
According to Literacy INC., a study conducted in late April 2015 by the US Department of
Education and the National Institute of Literacy, 32 million adults in the United States can t read
above a fifth grade level, and 19% of high school graduates can t read (About Us Literacy Inc.,
n.d.). That means that nearly 7.6% of American adults can t read as well as your average fifth

read. As bad as this problem is nationally, Chicago is much worse where literacy rates are far

In August of 2014, Tina Fontaine, a 15 year old from the Sagkeeng First Nation in Winnipeg, was

There are a variety of theories that are useful in understanding this issue. The theories that will be
used here to explain the state of murdered and missing women in Canada and Harper s response to
it are societal reaction perspective and Spitzer s Marxian theory of deviance.
In order to understand the constructed identity of Aboriginal women in Canada today and in the
past, it is necessary to discuss ideas of empire, including Manifest Destiny and Terra Nullius.
These European concepts were and generally still form the ideology operating in Canada.
Expansion of the ruling class empire is taken for granted and divinely supported. This is the basis
for European exploration of the globe, claiming of already occupied lands and colonization of
existing peoples. Manifest Destiny was the 19th Century settler belief that it was their destiny to
expand throughout North America. Terra Nullius is the concept that land determined to be empty,
in other words not being used productively by a civilized people, could be occupied by those
Europeans who found it. Of course, both of these concepts belong to the ideology of European
empire expansion which indisputably devalued the existing Aboriginal communities. The French
and English settlers pushed their Christian beliefs onto Aboriginal peoples and succeeded in
altering Aboriginal communities from their matrilineal nature into
