Medicine and Cardiology
Cardiology is mainly perceived as a study of the functions and disorders of the heart. However, it
is really much more than that. Since 13,000 B.C. medicine has been a thriving area of study. Even
more specifically than that, the heart has been a thriving area of study. As a result of the heart
being the organ that keeps one alive, numerous physicians from the past and the present strived to
decipher the heart. Since the heart has yet to be completely figured out, cardiology proves to be a
promising career in the future. In the beginning of time, herbalism was the first known form of
medicine. At the time however it was more seen as a type of religion. Many people thought
diseases were caused by the gods when they were angry. Therefore... Show more content on

This contributed to cardiology as a practice of medicine because people were able to make
diagnosis about the heart. In 1816, Rene T.H. Laennec invented the stethoscope. This also
contributed to cardiology as a practice of medicine. In 1903, William Einthoven invented the
electrocardiograph. This led to cardiology as a medicine because it helped take down the
rhythms of a heart to make sure that one s heart was just the right speed. (Occupational Outlook
Handbook) In 1912, James Herrick took a huge step in the right direction when he discovered
how heart disease occurs. From his research, he came up with the idea of hardening of the
arteries and its contributions to affecting the heart. He realized that heart diseases occur when
arteries aren t functioning correctly. Therefore, if arteries were hardening blood flow couldn t
flow normally and the heart would loose blood and oxygen resulting in a diseased heart.
(History of Medicine) In 1938, Robert E. Gross performed the first heart surgery. He performed
the surgery on the great vessels near the heart. This was monumental in cardiology history. With
this, many other heart surgeries were able to be performed. In 1951, Charles Hufnagel developed
a plastic valve to fix an aortic valve. (History of Medicine + Occupational Outlook Handbook)
In 1952, F. John Lewis performed the first open heart surgery. This was a huge event in the history
of cardiology. Not only did Lewis perform the surgery, but

Evaluation Of Five Bolted Tanks At A Museum System
CST inspected five bolted tanks at your facility on June 28, 2017. The inspected tanks consisted
of five bolted tanks 15 dia (10 staves) by 48 tall (6 rings). Three tanks are currently in service
with a dry product of plastic pellets. Two were out of service for inspection. The purpose of this
inspection was to check the integrity of each tank due to the recent purchase by Mohawk of the
facility. Only three data plates were found on the tanks and the SO# s are as follows Tank #3
92949, Tank #4 00006, and Tank #5 00006 The following report describes the findings observed
during the inspection, recommendations to promote continued safe operation and supporting

The tank top access ladder located on tanks 1 and 4 as well as the catwalks were secure and in
safe operating condition at the time of inspection. No damage or deflections were observed at
this time with the hopper. Tank Top (Roof) No damage was observed to any of the tank tops. No
catwalk or roof access was available to tank 3 (Photo 21). Site personal stated that they crawl
over the top railing from tank 2 s roof over onto tank 3 s roof. An OSHA approved catwalk
system should be installed to safely access tank 3 s roof. All open air atmospheric vents were
open and free from obstructions. The bird screens were in deteriorated condition (Photos 22 24).
Recommendations 1) Seal the cracks within the concrete pad to prevent further deteriorating
and water egress as well as possible future damage. 2) If new 1st rings are installed, new grout to
CST standards and requirements should be installed. 3) Due to the damage from corrosion and
standing water within the saddles, it is recommended all saddles and anchor bolts be replaced. 4)
A new coating should be applied within the 12 months to prevent further biological growth on the
tank exterior and prevent additional corrosion across the tank hardware (nuts and bolts) and the
tank seams. 5) The first ring should be replaced on all 5 tanks to prevent a catastrophic failure of a
tank collapse due to the integrity of the 1st ring being

Negotiations In 12 Angry Men
Mahmoud Abdallah Instructor: Dr. Wael Zaraket
Negotiation Conflict resolution April 21, 2017
12 Angry Men illustrates how successful negotiations necessitates careful observation and analysis
of different, conflicting arguments presented by the various parties involved, such that emotions
and positions are effectively separated from the more deeply entrenched and often concealed
interests. These actions were performed by Juror 8, who proceeded to question the other jurors
motivations behind their assertion of a guilty verdict (position). This movie illustrates how specific
positions were of little significance in determining the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually, the audience and jurors do not know if the boy truly committed the murder or not (only
reasonable doubt was established, based on the testimonial evidence presented); the boy s true
innocence or guilt had no bearing on the jury s final agreement; the agreement was derived by
systemically questioning and addressing the assumptions and motivations (interests) backing the
jurors decisions.
While all twelve jurors essentially desired justice to be served (according to their personal
definitions and interpretations) in the case, which is all parties fundamental interest, Juror 8
adopted a different position from the other jurors, due to his compassion and desire to see the
teenager get a fairly deliberated verdict. Juror 3 opted for guilty , making the mistake of attempting

Courtship Rituals
In my opinion courtship rituals have drastically changed over time but have also still held onto
some aspects of romance, dating, and traditions that couples set early on. Courtship rituals are the
traditions during a certain period of time where two people get to know each other before striving to
marry their significant other. Courtshiprituals can vary depending on the culture and the people
using it. Many have mixed opinions on the topic. Nowadays, relationships can be tricky and are
nothing like the movies. Datingpractices differ now from the late 1900 s and early 2000 s. For this
essay I have decided to interview my younger cousin, who is fourteen years old. Through the
interview process she gave me the insight of younger teens and preteens dating. Communication,
social presence, and technology have changed the ways relationships are viewed and acted upon.
Dating had almost completely replaced the old system of calling by the mid 1920s and, in so doing,
had transformed American courtship. An excerpt from Beth L. Bailey s book, From Front Porch to

Applying Critical Thinking And Reading Skills
Taking this class has taught me a lot about myself as a learner. At the beginning of this course I
defined learning as how one takes in information in their surroundings and applies it to their life.
While I do still believe that is a part of the learning process, I now know how to properly use my
strong suits and weaknesses to get the best results from the information presented to me. With the
information I have acquired throughout this course, I would also include applying critical thinking
and reading skills to better decipher the information gained to my definition of learning. Knowing
how to interpret the information given to you is a huge part of learning. I am a strong willed
learner, I am able use all of my patterns on a use first basis with the exception of confluence. My
LCI score for confluence is 20 which means I use it at an as needed level, while I prefer not to
use it often I am able to use it effectively. I mainly use this pattern when I am working with
customers and patients and do not want to come across as robotic and only giving the standard
verbatim for their concerns. Technical reasoning is another pattern that is on the lower end of my
LCI scores, I received a 26 for this pattern. There are times that I do enjoy learning how to do
things on my own as in opposed to waiting for exact instructions. While working in my patient s
homes, I sometimes like to figure out how to set up their new equipment without regard to any
instructions that may be right

Soil Case Study
Sandy soils in the Southeast are characterized by low nutrient and water holding capacity which is
further reduced by intense rainfall patterns and has been exacerbated by long term farming in the
region. These conditions lead to rapid nutrient loss in soils below the root zone. Nutrient run off is
a well established cause of non point source pollution affecting bodies of water and negatively
impacting water quality.
Modern crop cultivars with higher yields also frequently demand increased use of fertilizers,
contributing further to nutrient run off and pollution. In addition, soils in the Southeast range in
composition from deep sands to sandy loams, necessitating the development of a range of soil
management solutions tailored for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, certain particularly effective nematicides have been unavailable or in short supply,
increasing the need for alternative, cost effective solutions for controlling these pest.
This study proposes an examination of the soil amendments biochar, gypsum, and fly ash for
improving nutrient retention and water holding capacity in sandy Southeastern soils producing
cotton and testing biochar gypsum, and fly ash, with and without poultry litter and measuring the
soil nutrient profile, compaction, and pest populations before, during, and after each growing
season for two years in dryland farmed cotton.
The biochar, gypsum, and fly ash treatments will be applied with and without poultry litter to
compare the treatments as an alternative or adjunct to poultry litter fertilizer. The effect of both
treatments on thrip count and nematode populations will also be assessed.
The evaluation of biochar application to soil as a method for reducing N loss from fertilizers,
improving soil quality and fertility, and increasing yield and farm profitability have not been
thoroughly addressed (Hue, 2016).
2)Statement of Solution
The central idea of this study is to examine methods of making more efficient use of poultry litter
as a fertilizer in cotton production by reducing the amount of nutrient leaching and improving the
water holding capacity of the soil. Biochar, gypsum, and fly ash will be evaluated for enhancing soil

Maya Number 4 Essay
To many people and cultures, the topic of numbers may seem to have limited to a nonexistent
symbolic relationship or importance. Numbers seem to have the sole purpose to act in
mathematics. Many people would not consider a number to be the center of their actions or daily
thoughts. Regardless, the Maya people holds one numberabove all near and dear to its heart. The
number four in Maya culture and literature keeps recurring in many texts. The two primary
examples of addressing the importance of the number four can be seen in the sacred Popol Vuh
and the popular play of the Rabinal Achi. In a close analyzation of the number four, it can be
confirmed that it holds great influence on the Maya people. This can be stated because the number

characters then only move in a line from north to south (and vice versa) on each half of the stage.

Quality Control Of Car Emission Efficiency
QUALITY CONTROL OF CAR EMISSION EFFICIENCY
1. Introduction
Energy efficiency of vehicles have become one of the most fundamental issue for modern trade,
business life and environment. Even though the zero emission systems hast still progress, it is
plausible to enlarge the fuel efficient vehicles with application of quality assurance practices. The
idea behind this is particularly true for the companies which is related to transportation, where even
small difference can save considerable amount of money.
Moreover, in the fuel economy website, it is mentioned that the fuel economy predicts the fuel
economy tags and to calculate a producer s corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) is received
from car when the testing is done at EPA s National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory in Ann
Arbor which is in Michigan, and by whole car producers who sent their own data to EPA. Every
year, EPA supplies car efficiency data to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Department of
Transportation (DOT) and the Department of Energy (DOE) with this way they can manage their
car efficiency which is associated with programs. (http://www.fueleconomy.gov). Many companies
have many instructions in order to inform the costumers about fuel efficiency. However, on the
other hand, none of these companies are certain on a particular car. That causes less motivation on
drivers because they encounter with something mindboggling. Therefore, we will use the quality
assurance and quality tools which

The stonehenge was a tone structure established a long time ago by civilization before the druid
age. More than 4,000 years ago, the people of the Neolithic period supposedly decided to build a
massive monument using Earth, timber and eventually stones. They placed it high on salisbury
plain in Wiltshire, england about 37 kilometers southwest of london. THe purpose to build the
stonehenge is still to remain a mystery no one till this day knows why this was built and who built
it. The blue stones found on this monument are a mix of a good, bad and medium rock. There are a
few ancient structures in the world that captivate the imagination and the critical mind of both the
scholarly and ordinary individual as Stonehenge. The oldest part of the stonehenge was constructed
Ca. 3100 BCE. In 1963, British astronomer Gerald Hawkins published an article in Nature, followed
by a book, Stonehenge Decoded, and proposed a hypothesis for at least one purpose of this ancient
monument. Standing in the center of Stonehenge, Hawkins recognized twenty four lines of sight
amongst the stones, and later discovered that these lines pointed to significant astronomical

The Meltdown of Chernobyl Essay
Have you ever thought of what would happen to you if there was a nuclear bomb that blew up
near you? If so, have you wondered what would happen? Not just to you, but to everything around
it, the atmosphere? All the radiation fumes would be floating in the air, what are the affects? You
would never think it would happen that a plant would blow up either, because they got the best

accident, Chernobyl.

This diagram is the layout of Reactors compartment three and four were at the Chernobyl Nuclear

Before the disaster Chernobyl was rated one of the safest nuclear power stations. Three months
before the explosion the Soviet official said, the odds of a meltdown occurring at Chernobyl are 1
in 10,000 years. Before the accident the government staff that investigated the plant found out that
there were several accidents and emergency shutdowns.
The day of the explosion the reactor had reached one hundred and twenty times its full power.
The radioactive fuel was disintegrated and the pressure from the entire overload of the steam
which was supposed to go to the turbines broke, and every one of the pressure tubes had blew off
the entire top shield of the reactor. The reason this happened like it did was because the graphite
moderated RBMK reactor that blew up was designed very poorly. This was said because the scram

The Negative Stereotypes About Bisexual Lifestyle
The second contributing factor is the negative stereotypes about bisexual lifestyle. The political
treachery of bisexual women resulted in their connection to sexual promiscuity. Lesbian women
also frequently accused bisexual women of being fence sitters who were able to choose between
having a heterosexual and a lesbian relationship. Katie Griffin, a therapist, once summarized her
bisexual experience into On any other day, I will be straight. If it s Wednesday, I must be Gay (1).
In other words, many see bisexual individuals as being 50% gay, 50% straight, and 100% non
committal. Griffin is certainly not alone in her experiences; in her clinical practice she found that
many bisexual women had to choose between lesbianism and heterosexuality (10). The fluidity of
bisexualitycreates discomfort with women who had to go through the tedious process of
pinpointing the gender they are attracted to. Hence, lesbians see bisexuality as a transitional
identity between heterosexuality and lesbianism; notably, 83% lesbians agreed that some women
claim to be bisexual when they are really lesbians who are afraid to admit it (Rust, Neutralizing the
Political Threat 9). Stone also notes in her memoir that lesbians are often bitter about the straight
passing privilege that bisexual women possess (2). They claim that bisexual women are able to
enjoy the benefits of the lesbian community without receiving the discrimination that comes with it.
The ability of bisexuals to

The Negative Impacts Of Immigrants
In the recent decades, immigration has become a more popular option globally. Many people
choose to leave their home country simply for a better living environment or for other
uncontrollable reasons, such as wars and natural disasters. There are some countries are more
likely to accept immigrants; however some do not. One of the main reasons to rather accept or
reject immigrants would be that it is a major impact on the country s labor market environment.
Inviting immigrations into a country means that the labor force will increase due to the additional
numbers of labor have been recently added into in. In general, as the supply in labor increases, the
demand in labor decreases at the same time. That means it is then harder for the citizens of that
particular country to find a job since there are more people competing for positions. However, most
of the time it is not this simple. Different types of immigrant would make different impacts to a

Moby Dick Research Paper
It is not everyday that a man is able to write himself into history, only the greatest and most
daring writers are able to break the threshold of humanity and ascend into the history books.
Growing up with two of the most influential grandfathers who were both Revolutionary heroes,
Herman Melville grew into a great writer. Bankruptcy and the loss of his father at age 12 had
such a big impact on Herman that he was taken out of school and forced to work. He self taught
himself and briefly went back to school to study Engineering (Reiff 9 11). During his early 20s,
Melville was unable to get a job in engineering. He faced economic hardships which influenced
him to go on voyages as an escape from his problems. Sailing consisted of relaxing and
romanticizing with beautiful islanders despite the horrors of military punishments he experienced
(Reiff 13). From 1844 to 1857, Melville spent his years as a full time writer to gain prestige and
money while supporting his family (American Experience). Melville became known for one of his
novels, Moby Dick, which was dedicated to Nathaniel Hawthorne. Moby Dick is known as one of
the Greatest American Novels because the story had an exciting plot, philosophical statements,
many comparisons, and symbols making the novelvery complex. The complexity of the literary
writingsymbolized romance, particularly the romance of the sea. The novel was based on the life of
a sailor who experienced a tragic voyage and a white whale named Moby Dick.

Analysis of Repeated Cross Sectional Data , revolves around the effects of sugar consumption on
diabetes. It is said that the rise in diabetes is mostly due to type 2 diabetes that lead to hypertension,
insulin resistance, and dyslipidemia. But it is unclear whether the prevalence of type 2 diabetes is
determined by the amount of sugar being consumed. While studies have shown that sugar plays an

by an increase of sugar availability. The Gross Domestic Product coefficient also played a role in
that a 1% increase in GDP resulted in a 1.07% increase in diabetes prevalence. This goes to show
that economic development is an important factor in the prevalence of diabetes. Findings further
showed that sugar significantly correlated with the prevalence of diabetes but the effects of sugar
was independent on the total calorie consumption and obesity. When the obesity factor was

only does Sylvie use this Mannequin to make her feel like the baby is still alive; it is possible that
the packages sent of mannequin body parts, is the mother bringing in a new element into the sick
game, trying to make sense of what has happened.
Through this play Matt Cameron uses transformational acting as a way to portray the idea that it
is possible for Ray and Sylvie to be playing a sick game with each other trying to make sense of
what happened. As Matt Cameron calls it theatre magic Matt Cameron uses this technique that
could only be used in theatre to have its full effect. So we can question the message he wants us to
receive without having a resolution. It s like Ray and Sylvie represent society and they want the
truth at the same time don t want the truth. Do we really want to know the harsh truth of what
happens behind closed doors.
In Ruby Moon we don t have a conclusion to what happened. The message conveyed through this
is that we have no conclusion in our own lives, but we can find solace in fiction of a fairytale
which is the sub story in the play. As Sylvie states I want to hear the story .
The play is episodic. Tension builds throughout each scene so that the audience can see the deeper

My Experience As A Licensed Practical Nurse
In part one of this assignment; I discussed my experiences as a Licensed Practical Nurse. I
recalled into some of the biggest hurdles I tackled and now I envision the challenges, I may face
during the transition. In this paper, I will be further discussing the transition from Licensed
practical nurse to Registered nurse. The focus is on the responsibilities of a RN and stages of
change in becoming a student once again. As I discussed in my video, there are challenges that I
will face in the upcoming year that may make the journey difficult. I mentioned my current nursing
experiences but as a RN, those experiences will vary because of the difference in training and
accountability. I will outline the differences by elaborating on the scopes... Show more content on

2013. Page 52). In this early stage of nursing development, prospective nursing students take courses
within an accredited nursing program to study foundational nursing curricula. During this time, a
professional nursing student is able to take knowledge learned within a classroom and begin to
apply fundamental practices under the supervision of their instructor. The student is completely
reliant on external authority, an experienced knowledgeable teacher who provides the guidance for
adequate practical support. Students rely on their instructor for guidance and the right answer to
their questions. From my past experience in the LPN program this stage was when we were taking
information learned in class and applying it in lab on simulated dummies for practice. The second
stage discussed by Cohen is the Negative Independence phase. According to Harrington and Terry
(2013), this stage is when the nursing students have more opportunities to apply theory to practice
and assumes more responsibility. The student also begins to develop more confidence thus begins
to adopt some of the role values and is more willing to question traditional habits and ways of
knowing. As a student begins to gain practical knowledge and the self confidence grows, they start
to question indiscriminately. They utilize the information gained from the Unilateral Dependence
stage and begin

Paracetamol Synthesis and Uses Essay
Paracetamol Synthesis and Uses Discovered in 1877 by Harmon Northrop Morse at the John
Hopkins University, Paracetamol was one of several aniline deriviatives that was found to have
analgesic and antipyretic properties (Brodie 23). It was first synthesized by the reduction of p
nitrophenol with tin in glacial acetic acid; however was not used classified as a medication until ten
year later (Bertolini 264). Initially, phenacetin, a closely related compound that exhibited similar
physiological effects, became the popular over the counter drug for headaches (Bertolini 251).
However, later research by Brodie and Axelrod in 1949 found that phenacetin was in fact
metabolized into paracetamolwithin the body (Brodie and Axelrod 60).... Show more content on

This is an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction where a hydrogen on the aromatic ring is
replaced with a nitro group. The hydroxyl group on the aromatic ring is an electron donating group
and therefore serves as an ortho para director. Through the nitration reaction, two products are
formed: o nitrophenol and p nitrophenol. In comparing the stability of the two resulting products, o
nitrophenol is less stable due to steric hinderance and proximity of the hydroxyl and nitro group to
one another. On the other hand, p nitrophenol does not experience the same steric hinderance since
the two group as on opposite sides of the aromatic ring and therefore do not interfere with one
another. As a result, p nitrophenol is the major product of reaction. It is also the product of interest
and will be involved in the next step of the synthesis.
Subsequently, p nitrophenol is reduced by sodium borohydride to give 4 aminophenol. In an
industrial synthesis, hydrogenation is used for reduction instead of sodium borohydride to produce
an identical product(Travis 764). The use of hydrogenation is more efficient when produce larger
quantities. In the last step of the synthesis, 4 aminophenol is acylated in a reaction with acetic
anhydride. In this reaction, the electron pair on nitrogen of the amine group attack the one of the
carbonyls on the acid anhydride. The electrons move up to the oxygen, forming a negative anion,

Canadian Arctic Sovereignty Essay
To what extent should Canada protect its Arctic Sovereignty?
Canadian Arctic Sovereignty is currently a pressing issue has raised many questions about who
owns and who has control over the Arctic and its precious resources. The posing question is; to
what extent should Canada protect its Arctic Sovereignty? There are many reasons why Canada
must go forward in defending and protecting the Arctic to a moderate extent even though it will be
a challenging mission considering that the Canadian military currently needs more resources in
order to properly defend the Arctic. They must defend the population of Inuit that currently reside in

Due to the receding Arctic ice there is now a partially open route through the Northwest Passage
during certain parts of the year, which could pose a possible threat to Canada. According to the
Canadian Ice Service and the US National Ice Center, the passage is almost clear and more than
ever since the beginning of routine monitoring in 1972 (The Northwest Passage: In Dispute and
Navigable). The opening of this passage has now sparked the interest of the US and Russia in
wanting it to be officially deemed as international waters. The Northwest Passage is 7000km
shorter than the Panama Canal from Europe to Asia (Byers). This would mean that international
shipping companies would be able to save a great deal of time and money. There could also be
the possibility to use super tankers to transport oil which is impossible to do through the Panama
Canal (Byers). There are ship manufacturers that are currently designing and building vessels that
would be able to withstand ice (Byers). The cruise ship industry is also interested in the use of the
passage (Byers). There is a Russian

Stephen Jay Gould And Friedrich Nietzsche
Religion Verses Nature If God is good and if creation reveals his goodness, why do nature s
victims suffer? Is God dead? These are the questions that the two essays from Stephen Jay Gould
and Friedrich Nietzsche ask and attempt to answer. Stephen Jay Gould was a well known
professor of geology, zoology and curator of invertebrate paleontology in the Museum of
Comparative Zoology at Harvard University. Gould feels that animals are too complex to be
compared to humans and deciding what is good and evil. Friedrich Nietzsche was one of the most
influential German philosophers. Nietzsche feels as though Godis dead and the commitment to
religionis contradicting instincts of nature. In Stephen Jay Gould s essay Nonmoral Nature he feels
that humanbeings should not be compared to animals when it comes to morality. Charles Darwin
was an English naturalist trained as a minister, which Stephen Jay Gould mentions in his teachings.
Charles Darwin famously known for his theory of branching pattern of evolution did not see
conflict between his theories and religious beliefs. Gould feels that just like Darwin humans should
separate that of scientific fact from religious beliefs and morals. (Gould 636) Theologians in the
nineteenth century would disagree with Stephen Gould but that is only because their thought
process was different. Nineteenth century theologians anthropomorphized such predators which

My mom sat beside me as I recovered from surgery. I could tell something serious was being
conveyed. I watched tears begin to stream down her face as she spoke on the phone. My dad
reluctantly informed her of the outcome of Belle s veterinarian appointment.
Belle was introduced to our family in 1994 when a friend of my middle school aged sister needed
someone to rescue an unwanted litter. This was crazy to me because my dad, who had a horrible
memory of wild cats attacking him as a boy under his family farmhouse, hated cats. My mom on
the other hand, loved cats. I never imagined he would allow my young sister to have this pet.
Despite my assumptions, he did.
My mom convinced him the circumstances would only be for a few months. Despite my dad s

I noticed after we had her for almost a year, she wasn t fond of me. As I sat talking on the phone

Heavy metal became popular in the early 1980s with famous bands such as Iron Maiden,
Metallica, Megadeth for their epic headbangs and guitar riffs in live concerts. Although, lyrics

famous songs is The Beautiful People which criticizes the privileged. Manson and Twain had

injustice in society. If people want to be judgemental about Twain, heavy metal or anything that is

Summary 2008 Financial Crisis
The financial crisis began in early 2006 when the subprime mortgage market in the U.S. began to
display an increasing rate of mortgage defaults. These defaults lead, in late 2006, to a decline in
US housing prices after nearly a decade of exceptionally high growth. Many Americans watched as
their primary source of wealth become increasingly devalued. By late 2007, the prime mortgage
markets were showing higher than normal default rates as well.
Collateralized Mortgage Obligations (CMOs), a type of collateralized debt obligations (CDOs),
allowed these problems to spread from the mortgage market to other sectors of the economy,
having especially widespread effects on financial markets as a whole. CMOs were mortgage
backed securities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These liquidity problems turned to insolvency in September of 2008, when private lending froze
completely in a number of important credit markets, such as commercial paper. As a result, non
financial businesses were unable to get access to the financing they required to function normally,
leading to problems in the real economy.
The real economy began to exhibit problems related to the financial crisis as early as March
2006, when investment expenditure on residential structures began to decline. In early 2008, this
decline spread to investment in business equipment and consumer spending on durable goods. It
wasn t until the summer of 2008 that consumer spending broadly and GDP began falling, signs
of a recession. (In December 2008, the National Bureau of Economic Research, official arbiter of
business cycles dated the formal beginning of the recession as December 2007.) While the public
had been concerned about recession for much of the year, it wasn t until the fall that the economy
began to decline at more than a 6% annual rate. Congress responded by passing the TARP plan to
assist failing financial institutions. This plan was meant to decrease the severity of the recession by
treating its cause: the financial crisis.

Personal Eflection With The Reflective Best Self
Introduction Do you want to know who you are? Don t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define
you. This quote was spoken by the second president of the united states and revered Patriot
leader, Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson is trying to express how a person s true character and
personality is expressed through their actions and how they live their lives, so if someone wants to
truly know who they are inside, the best indications comes from their actions and how they
impacted others. One excellent way to reflect upon one s inner self is with the Reflected Best Self
Exerciseв„ў (RBSEв„ў) developed by the University of Michigan. This exercise utilizes stories
collected from people in one s life to help them understand who they are and what they are like
when they are at their very best. This exercise helps to highlight a person s strength and to distill
confidence into their character. It helps a person to explore who they genuinely are and to be able
to know their own personality a little bitbetter. This is especially crucial in the business world
where knowing oneself, your strengths and limitations, is crucial in becoming an effective leader.
With the help of this exercise, a person can become more confident in their leadershipstyle, more
certain in their decisions, and better able to fall back on their strengths when life become
difficult. It is with these basic assumptions and goals that I will immerse myself in this exercise
with. I will search to gain valuable insight of who I truly am. I will define my strength, my
enabler, and my blockers. I will use all the data available to create a best self portrait and to
identify key trends in my personality and characteristics. My importantly, I will delve into the
roots of my behaviors and actions to learn who I am as a leader, as a worker, as a sibling, as a son,
as a friend, and as a person in general. With all this insight combined I will be able to effectively
orient myself towards the future and be the type of leader and man that I dream of being, with the
help of my strengths.
Initial Perspective on My Strengths In the past few years, I have often thought that I have learned
a great deal about who I am. I have grown much since middle school and have

Analyzing The Strengths Of Qualitative And Quantitative...
Q methodology was first introduced by psychologist William Stephenson (1902 1989). Q
methodology combines the strengths of both qualitative and quantitative methods (Brown,
1996). The method is one that studies subjectivity and can be used on various researches.
Subjectivity can be defined as a person s communication of his or her point of view and it is
always stems from a person s internal frame of reference (McKeown Thomas, 1988). An internal
frame of reference can refer to the personal viewpoint of the respondent; in this research, it is the
viewpoint of several people for reasons why project are delayed. This frame of reference has been

Hence, this reference provides much more information than a yes, no question ever did
(McKeown Thomas 1988). Q methodology uses the concept of ranking as simplified in Table 4.2.
By asking multiple people from SHTC to rank the 40 statements, the prioritization of these criteria
comes forth. All statements are based on people s opinion on why project delay, yet the
comparison with other people s opinions and ranking the statements will bring about the real
subjectivity (Brown, 1993). 4.1.2 The Q analysis process As the method revolves around the
ranking of statements, the process starts by defining these statements. This set of statements, also
referred to as the Q sample, should comprehensively represent the concourse: the sum of all things
people say or think about the issue being investigated. The concourse is most typically collected
through interviews and focus group discussions. In addition, sources such as publications, essays,
or any other sources related to the issue may be used. The collection of the concourse and the Q
sample is described in the previous chapter. What is in fact investigated is not just the concourse
itself, but the inherent operant structure that exists in the concourse or the Q sample (Dryzek,
Clark, McKenzie, 1989). The Q sample often exists of statements, however, it can be created from
basically anything: from words to paintings or even songs (Brown, 1996). With the Q sample, the
respondents can participate in the

polarized politics of the Roberts Court article examines the Roberts Court and its relationship to
the Obama s government after the results of midterm elections in 2014. It starts by analyzing
the structure of the Court during the past 40 years. The court has been structured by electoral
politics and it has been seen to be more conservative, divided and polarized in its decision
making and this reflects the politics of the post 1968 electoral regime. The article also looks at
the impact of the 2014 midterm election. The article shows that the control of the senate by
Republican will lead to constrain to the president s ability to shape the federal courts proceeding

Abstract
Agriculture is a key component and driver of our economy as well as the main food source for US
citizens. The US serves as one of the largest exporters of food supplies to nations around the globe.
(1) A significant disruption in our exports would have ripple effects within the US and throughout
the global health system. The potential impacts of an Agroterrorism attack would be devastating to
public health, both nationally and on the global front could be significant. (2)

FADs are transmissible diseases thought to be absent from the United States. Our systems of
agriculture and food production provide significant vulnerabilities to terrorist attack both in our

Murder is a disturbing crime that shocks people when it occurs, however it s more disturbing to
think that a child is capable of such a violent and atrocious act. It is often very hard to imagine that
a young child can be the source of such extreme violence and act in such an extreme manner. We as
adults may not always be able to understand why they commit delinquent acts, or exhibit extremely
violent and even commit a heinous crime such as murder. Psychological theories are able to give us

Conditions Associated Thermal Regimes Impact On Roads
There are three possible conditions associated thermal regimes impact on roads; they are
(a)sustained winter thermal regime during winter months;(b) fluctuating thermal regimes during
autumn and spring, and (c)sustained thermal regime starting off in spring. The potential impacts of
this on flexible type pavement are as follows;
a.Under maintained below zero temperatures amid winter, and relying upon the predominating
moisture content in the pavement structure and the way of the pavement materials. For instance,
frost susceptible soils, for example, residues and clayey sediments, the sub grade or the pavement
layer may freeze increment in volume and subject the pavement to swelling weights, which
inevitably prompt frost heave. Pavements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fluctuating thermal administration, particularly when de icing salts are applied on the surface,
may prompt scaling at the surface of pavements. By improving the concrete composition for
example, by utilizing air entering agent, higher cement content, lower water cement ratios the effect
of de icing salt can be diminished.
A noteworthy and supported decline in the recurrence of extremely cool days could lessen the
danger of pavement harm brought about by frost heave, freeze thaw cycling and defrosting and
could therefore decrease maintenance costs. Then again, it is not that simple. As winter gets hotter
pavements get more presented to freezing and thawing cycle, prompting premature decay of
pavement particularly to the upper layer of asphalt like cracking and ravelling.
Hence, in areas where roads are usually frozen in winter, a decrease in the number of very cold
days may impact the following;
Potentially, a higher frequency of freeze thaw cycles, causing durability and fatigue problems, and
greater incidence of black ice.
Increased demand for de icing chemicals on account of the higher frequency of freeze thaw cycle,
including potential damage from the adverse effect of repeated application.
Wet surface condition occurring more frequently, allowing more water to ingress the pavement

The World In Six Glasses Summary
There are many ways to look at history. Many perspectives from the past that form today. Tom
Standage chose to discuss about drinks and how they helped shape the world. In his book, A
History of the World in Six Glasses, Standage examines the most popular 6 drinks throughout
history to describe how they influenced the development of the world. He takes the reader on an
odyssey from the mesopotamian era to the 21st century and from beerto Coca Cola, proving that
what was thought to be irrelevant to history has affected it by sparking revolutions and advancing
scientific and intellectual movements. One wonders after reading this book if a pen and a paper or
a spoon and a knife have their own history that has helped shape the world in another

That s okay! Purple has two flight challenges for students to master before moving on to FPV
piloting in Blue: staying in control of the drone flying LOS for at least 2 minutes and flying
forward and backward through a large gate. Students are free to progress at their own pace.
Challenge your advanced pilots to become positive peer coaches for other members of their teams.
How will you teach the end design project (EDP)? This is an opportunity for students to exercise
their creativity, integrate their learning into areas that are particularly interesting to them, building
their 21st Century skill set. Introduce the project to the group all together, then be sure to step

The Course of Human Events
David McCullough is an award winning author, historian and has even had his hand in television
and movies. Unlike most historians of the day, when he conducts research he emerges himself as
if he were the subject himself. Subsequently, his methods have created a very successful writing
career since the late 1960s. In short, nearly all of his works have been praised by the public and
two of his major works, biographies of John Adamsand Harry Truman earned a Pulitzer, two
National Book Awards along with two Francis Park Prizes. One of his works, The Course of
Human Events, was a lecture he wrote when he achieved the honor of speaking at the Jefferson
Lecture. In sum, the work details of the importance of history and education. After an introduction
about the honor it is to be presenting at the Jefferson Lecture, McCullough first shifts his attention
to the darkest memory he possesses. He recalls when Hitler s seemingly unstoppable army had
basically reached the coast of America and the havoc it reeked on the people. Proceeding a short,
but important excerpt dealing with power of human hope or spirit; the focus is shifted to Trumbull
s Declaration of Independence. Ironically, McCullough explains, the popular painting seen by
virtually every American never even occurred. Next, the work focuses directly on the main idea
and theme of how powerful, influential and vital education is. McCullough begins by going in
depth with a few of the founding fathers and discusses their

The Accessibility Of The Environment
what are barriers?
Beyond the design of the environment, the accessibility will be related to the behaviors of its
users and owners. According to guidelines, it is only persons with disabilities for whom barriers
becomes major obstacle but it is necessary to realize that every person, at some stage of life face
barriers like an elderly person, a pregnant lady, the temporary disabled, all are vulnerable to
barriers. Barriers not only make environment unsafe cause difficulty to users but also causes space
out of reach, denying people the opportunity of participation. The important concept for accessibility
of environment is that of trip chain . A typical trip consists of many links for e.g. to go to
workplace from home, a person has : to go from home to sidewalk, enter a vehicle, go out of
vehicle to sidewalk, reach the entrance of building, enter the building, move around in building and
enter workstation. And each link can be further divided in more detail, so if only one link is not
accessible, then the journey becomes difficult. (Ferneeuw, 2005)
Different type of barriers
According to Smith(1987), barriers faced by people with disabilities undertaking leisure related
travel are identified as: 1)intrinsic barriers, 2) environmental barriers, and 3) interactive barrier.
Intrinsic barriers are those resulting from an individual s own level of physical, cognitive or
psychological functioning. Environmental barriers are external to individual like attitudinal barriers,

Driven To Distraction Larry Rosen Analysis
Our Distractions
I am convinced that learning to live with both internal and external distractions is all about
teaching the concept of focus. (Rosen 11) Are we being driven to distraction? This question is
posed in Larry Rosen s essay Driven To Distraction; he argues students are distracted by
technology. He makes his argument effective through use of logos, tone and rhetorical patterns.
However, Rosen s essay is weakened by not addressing opposing arguments and by using a false
authority fallacy. He explains how technology greatly distracts students nowadays and then offers
techniques we can apply to help increase their focus and encourage them to be less plugged in . In
his essay, Rosen uses many logos throughout to create a persuasive argument. He uses statistics Two
thirds of the respondents agree with the notion that today s digital technologies do more to distract
students than to help them academically. (Rosen 2); facts, In one recent study, we found a perfect
demonstration of metacognition, knowing how your brain functions. (Rosen 11); observation, and

confront opposing ideas about how technology can be useful or if there is another factor such as
students having too much screen time that is causing the distractions. By disregarding opposing

Essay about Book Summary The Bible Among the Myths
INTRODUCTION
The book opens with an introduction comparing the study of the Old Testament and the other
religions and cultures of other peoples from the Ancient Near East. Scholars used to believe that the
Old Testament was unique among other beliefs in the Ancient Near East but they now view the Old
Testament as identical to other religions of its day and time.
The author also discusses the vital philosophical distinction between essence and accident. When
removing an essential feature of an object, it will cease to be itself but if you remove an
accidental feature of an object, there will be no change in the object s essential being.
The author also introduces the characteristics of myth.
1) That human beings have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the groups of definitions falls under the category of the historical philosophical definition.
The first definition of myth in this category is the etymological definition. This definition stresses
the falsity of the deity or event or thing being described. The second is the sociological theological
definition where the truth is seen as relative and something is considered true if it is seen as true
by others. The third is the literary definition. These kinds of definitions claim to make no value
judgment about their material. The events are not seen as right or wrong and the narrative makes
use of symbolism to express it meaning.
The many definitions of a myth have one thing in common; they all give to the philosophy of
continuity. Continuity assumes that all things are not only related to one another, but are literally
one another in some fashion. Overall it can be said that whatever the Bible is, whether symbol or
literal, true or false, it is not myth.
CHAPTER THREE
CONTINUITY: THE BASIS OF MYTHICAL THINKING
As the title of this chapter is Continuity: The Basis of Mythical Thinking the author gives further
details about what he touched on at the end of chapter two. The presence of continuity is the one
thing that myths have in common. The way of thinking in continuity views all things as part of

and print everyday objects such as, dollar bills, soup cans, postage stamps, comic strips, and soda
bottles. According to Warhol, these were some of the consumer products on which America is built.
When Warhol showed his work to New York art dealers, they said it was too similar to the work
of other artists. Then in 1962, Warhol was still searching for a style that would be his and his
alone, when his assistant Nathan Gluck, suggested that Warhol try silk screen printing. This process
allowed Warhol to choose an image, reproduce it mechanically, and repeat it as many times as he
wanted. It was the breakthrough Warhol had been waiting for, at last he had found his own unique
artistic style.
Marilyn Monroe s death (August 4, 1962) inspired Warhol to create a series of paintings and he

First Aid Qualification Essay
All players and coaches should have a sports first aid qualification, it is an important subject to
cover in sport because it could potentially save someone s life in the future. A sports first aid
qualification is a one day or 8 hour course that is designed specifically for first aid workers in sport,
to be able to take this course you must be a minimum age of 14 years. I believe that all players and
coaches should have a sports first aidqualification because it is always good to learn about how to
take care of injuries. In a the 8 hours of the course they cover important topic that would be essential
to learn such as crisis management, management of hard and soft tissue injuries, fracture
management (RICER), Control of external bleeding and moving the injured athlete (stretcher
carries). The reason I have chosen this topic question is because it is a major issue in today s
society and children and athletes are getting hurt in games and training. When this happens the

It is shocking that most coaches and players even at a younger age don t have a sports aid
qualification which is leading to injuries on the field and they have no idea what to do or don t
even have a first aid kit. One occasion a junior grade soccer game a child hit his head on the goal
post knocking him unconscious and the coach didn t have a first aid kit and had no idea what he
was doing. This is why the US collage of sport recommends that all coaches should have a
minimum level of qualification in sports first aid for safety reasons. Another company that supports
this question is St Johns of Wales, this company have now began teaching every player, coach and
staff member about emergency first aid because they want everyone in the community that plays
sport to be able to have the skills so they can one day save a

Functional Behavior Analysis
When faced with the challenge of altering a behavior, it is important to understand the components
which surround the behavior. Identifying those things which serve to motivate the individual to
continue engaging in, or not engage in, a behavior; what triggers it; how to define it; how often it
occurs and under what circumstances; are just a few of the questions which need to be answered in
order to effectively plan for change. Behaviors are generally learned and maintained through
positive, negative, or automatic reinforcement, and in the provision of these reinforcing effects, the
behaviorserves a function with which to achieve them. Through the completion of a functional
behavior assessment one can systematically gain the information necessary to form a hypothesis as

A functional behavior assessment is systematically completed in three consecutive steps. Initially,
information is gathered through indirect assessments via interview, self reports, and those who
know the person well. This serves to define the behavior, provide background information, as well
as provide information about when the behavior is more likely or unlikely to occur and what
environmental variables might influence its occurrence. After this is completed, the professional
conducts a descriptive assessment during which observations are conducted in the natural
environment as a step toward determining a true functional relationship between the behavior and
controlling factors. This is done through the use of observational recording formats such as: ABC
assessments, time sampling, interval recording and structured descriptive assessments. A functional

Building Up Their Savings Over The Years
A good strategy that many use to build up their savings over the years, is to spend less than you
earn and put aside the money that is not used. This applies to expenses such as food, housing,
vehicles, as well as other expenses on one s budget. Rob Russell, a writer for Forbes Magazine,
writes in his article with the topic of investing mistakes, During your peak earning years you
should live below your means so you can set aside enough income each and every year that if
your career comes to a screeching halt that you ll be able to survive (Russell 4). Establishing a
savings account or retirement fund where money can be deposited each month or so, will help to
build up enough money to support the athlete after retirement. One will never... Show more content

With higher pays, comes more things to be taxed on. It is crucial for athletes to investigate all
options that will help them to save money. Their salaries are high, but with many people after
their money, such as family, friends, and investors, it is important to know the facts and exercise
safe money saving strategies. There are a host of strategies for reducing your tax bill from tax
free muni binds, to tax deferred retirement accounts, and even investments that offer tax shelters
to reduce the amount of your income that is actually being taxed (Russell 5). Taxes affect
everyone in different ways and with changes occurring with the United States leader and new
laws being considered, it is important to know what these taxes mean and as many ways to
reduce them. With taxes comes the tax return. The problem is that most financial advisors fail to
take your tax return into account when offering investing advise, so whether you ve signed a
multi million dollar recording contract or you re the millionaire next door, it s critical to have an
investment advisor that is also tax savvy (Russell5). With financial advice from a bank or
advisor, one will find that there are ways to keep from having many taxes deducted from their
salaries, which in turn will help the athlete s money to grow even more. While doing research, it
was discovered that along with regular financial aid for

Green Jacket Research Paper
The Difference of One A green jacket is being worked for in one of the most famous Professional
Golf Association (PGA) tournament introduced in 1934, at Augusta National Golf Club in
Augusta, Georgia and titled, The Masters. Generally, in a tie, it only took one playoff hole for a
winner to be decided, until Angel Cabrera and Adam Scott faced each other on April 14, 2013.
After a grueling ten hours of watching PGA golfers play to their best ability in rainy weather as if
a monsoon was going to hit from the Atlantic coast, a winner to receive the infamous $250,
Cincinnati made, forest green jacket was hoped for. However, a winner was not yet decided. On
hole 72 of a 72 hole tournament, Scott approached the lovely manicured green leaving himself a
putt of about twenty terrifying feet. From a distance, Cabrera could tell with his Argentinian... Show

Now it was time for hole 10 at Augusta to be played. With even more nagging nerves, Scott and
Cabrera teed off on Camellia, the 495 yard par four that starts the back nine. It seemed like miles
to the hole, until each drove their ball in the freshly moist fairway leaving them both spectacular
angles of approach. For both players, the baffling bunkers were in play on the right side of the
green, but that had no effect of intimidation since these players were as confident as a cheetah
stalking its crippled prey. Cabrera was the first to putt on the green, giving Scott more time to plan
his attack. With caddie help, Cabrera knew what must happen for him to win. Grabbing his trusty
putter, he stroked the ball with just enough force to cause it to travel the correct distance, but his
aim was off by less than a piece of hair leading to a missed putt. Scott, in a win tie situation,
decided to be mentally strong and clutched his slippery putter. Once more, the ping of the contact

  • 2. Medicine and Cardiology Cardiology is mainly perceived as a study of the functions and disorders of the heart. However, it is really much more than that. Since 13,000 B.C. medicine has been a thriving area of study. Even more specifically than that, the heart has been a thriving area of study. As a result of the heart being the organ that keeps one alive, numerous physicians from the past and the present strived to decipher the heart. Since the heart has yet to be completely figured out, cardiology proves to be a promising career in the future. In the beginning of time, herbalism was the first known form of medicine. At the time however it was more seen as a type of religion. Many people thought diseases were caused by the gods when they were angry. Therefore... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This contributed to cardiology as a practice of medicine because people were able to make diagnosis about the heart. In 1816, Rene T.H. Laennec invented the stethoscope. This also contributed to cardiology as a practice of medicine. In 1903, William Einthoven invented the electrocardiograph. This led to cardiology as a medicine because it helped take down the rhythms of a heart to make sure that one s heart was just the right speed. (Occupational Outlook Handbook) In 1912, James Herrick took a huge step in the right direction when he discovered how heart disease occurs. From his research, he came up with the idea of hardening of the arteries and its contributions to affecting the heart. He realized that heart diseases occur when arteries aren t functioning correctly. Therefore, if arteries were hardening blood flow couldn t flow normally and the heart would loose blood and oxygen resulting in a diseased heart. (History of Medicine) In 1938, Robert E. Gross performed the first heart surgery. He performed the surgery on the great vessels near the heart. This was monumental in cardiology history. With this, many other heart surgeries were able to be performed. In 1951, Charles Hufnagel developed a plastic valve to fix an aortic valve. (History of Medicine + Occupational Outlook Handbook) In 1952, F. John Lewis performed the first open heart surgery. This was a huge event in the history of cardiology. Not only did Lewis perform the surgery, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Evaluation Of Five Bolted Tanks At A Museum System CST inspected five bolted tanks at your facility on June 28, 2017. The inspected tanks consisted of five bolted tanks 15 dia (10 staves) by 48 tall (6 rings). Three tanks are currently in service with a dry product of plastic pellets. Two were out of service for inspection. The purpose of this inspection was to check the integrity of each tank due to the recent purchase by Mohawk of the facility. Only three data plates were found on the tanks and the SO# s are as follows Tank #3 92949, Tank #4 00006, and Tank #5 00006 The following report describes the findings observed during the inspection, recommendations to promote continued safe operation and supporting photos. The tank top access ladder located on tanks 1 and 4 as well as the catwalks were secure and in safe operating condition at the time of inspection. No damage or deflections were observed at this time with the hopper. Tank Top (Roof) No damage was observed to any of the tank tops. No catwalk or roof access was available to tank 3 (Photo 21). Site personal stated that they crawl over the top railing from tank 2 s roof over onto tank 3 s roof. An OSHA approved catwalk system should be installed to safely access tank 3 s roof. All open air atmospheric vents were open and free from obstructions. The bird screens were in deteriorated condition (Photos 22 24). Recommendations 1) Seal the cracks within the concrete pad to prevent further deteriorating and water egress as well as possible future damage. 2) If new 1st rings are installed, new grout to CST standards and requirements should be installed. 3) Due to the damage from corrosion and standing water within the saddles, it is recommended all saddles and anchor bolts be replaced. 4) A new coating should be applied within the 12 months to prevent further biological growth on the tank exterior and prevent additional corrosion across the tank hardware (nuts and bolts) and the tank seams. 5) The first ring should be replaced on all 5 tanks to prevent a catastrophic failure of a tank collapse due to the integrity of the 1st ring being ... Negotiations In 12 Angry Men Mahmoud Abdallah Instructor: Dr. Wael Zaraket Negotiation Conflict resolution April 21, 2017 12 Angry Men illustrates how successful negotiations necessitates careful observation and analysis of different, conflicting arguments presented by the various parties involved, such that emotions and positions are effectively separated from the more deeply entrenched and often concealed interests. These actions were performed by Juror 8, who proceeded to question the other jurors motivations behind their assertion of a guilty verdict (position). While all twelve jurors essentially desired justice to be served (according to their personal definitions and interpretations) in the case, which is all parties fundamental interest, Juror 8 adopted a different position from the other jurors, due to his compassion and desire to see the teenager get a fairly deliberated verdict. • 5. Courtship Rituals In my opinion courtship rituals have drastically changed over time but have also still held onto some aspects of romance, dating, and traditions that couples set early on. Courtship rituals are the traditions during a certain period of time where two people get to know each other before striving to marry their significant other. Courtshiprituals can vary depending on the culture and the people using it. Many have mixed opinions on the topic. Nowadays, relationships can be tricky and are nothing like the movies. Datingpractices differ now from the late 1900 s and early 2000 s. For this essay I have decided to interview my younger cousin, who is fourteen years old. Through the interview process she gave me the insight of younger teens and preteens dating. Communication, social presence, and technology have changed the ways relationships are viewed and acted upon. Dating had almost completely replaced the old system of calling by the mid 1920s and, in so doing, had transformed American courtship. An excerpt from Beth L. • 7. Applying Critical Thinking And Reading Skills Taking this class has taught me a lot about myself as a learner. At the beginning of this course I defined learning as how one takes in information in their surroundings and applies it to their life. While I do still believe that is a part of the learning process, I now know how to properly use my strong suits and weaknesses to get the best results from the information presented to me. With the information I have acquired throughout this course, I would also include applying critical thinking and reading skills to better decipher the information gained to my definition of learning. Knowing how to interpret the information given to you is a huge part of learning. I am a strong willed learner, I am able use all of my patterns on a use first basis with the exception of confluence. My LCI score for confluence is 20 which means I use it at an as needed level, while I prefer not to use it often I am able to use it effectively. I mainly use this pattern when I am working with customers and patients and do not want to come across as robotic and only giving the standard verbatim for their concerns. Technical reasoning is another pattern that is on the lower end of my LCI scores, I received a 26 for this pattern. There are times that I do enjoy learning how to do things on my own as in opposed to waiting for exact instructions. While working in my patient s homes, I sometimes like to figure out how to set up their new equipment without regard to any instructions that may be right ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Soil Case Study Sandy soils in the Southeast are characterized by low nutrient and water holding capacity which is further reduced by intense rainfall patterns and has been exacerbated by long term farming in the region. These conditions lead to rapid nutrient loss in soils below the root zone. Nutrient run off is a well established cause of non point source pollution affecting bodies of water and negatively impacting water quality. Modern crop cultivars with higher yields also frequently demand increased use of fertilizers, contributing further to nutrient run off and pollution. This diagram is the layout of Reactors compartment three and four were at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station. Compartment four was the one that was destroyed in the accident. Before the disaster Chernobyl was rated one of the safest nuclear power stations. Three months before the explosion the Soviet official said, the odds of a meltdown occurring at Chernobyl are 1 in 10,000 years. Before the accident the government staff that investigated the plant found out that there were several accidents and emergency shutdowns. The day of the explosion the reactor had reached one hundred and twenty times its full power. The radioactive fuel was disintegrated and the pressure from the entire overload of the steam which was supposed to go to the turbines broke, and every one of the pressure tubes had blew off the entire top shield of the reactor. The reason this happened like it did was because the graphite moderated RBMK reactor that blew up was designed very poorly. This was said because the scram button was supposed to smother the reaction by dropping control rods into the atomic pile. But instead it accelerated the neutron storm inside and ... • 14. The Negative Stereotypes About Bisexual Lifestyle The second contributing factor is the negative stereotypes about bisexual lifestyle. The political treachery of bisexual women resulted in their connection to sexual promiscuity. Lesbian women also frequently accused bisexual women of being fence sitters who were able to choose between having a heterosexual and a lesbian relationship. Katie Griffin, a therapist, once summarized her bisexual experience into On any other day, I will be straight. If it s Wednesday, I must be Gay (1). In other words, many see bisexual individuals as being 50% gay, 50% straight, and 100% non committal. Griffin is certainly not alone in her experiences; in her clinical practice she found that many bisexual women had to choose between lesbianism and heterosexuality (10). The fluidity of bisexualitycreates discomfort with women who had to go through the tedious process of pinpointing the gender they are attracted to. Hence, lesbians see bisexuality as a transitional identity between heterosexuality and lesbianism; notably, 83% lesbians agreed that some women claim to be bisexual when they are really lesbians who are afraid to admit it (Rust, Neutralizing the Political Threat 9). Stone also notes in her memoir that lesbians are often bitter about the straight passing privilege that bisexual women possess (2). They claim that bisexual women are able to enjoy the benefits of the lesbian community without receiving the discrimination that comes with it. The ability of bisexuals to ... • 16. The Negative Impacts Of Immigrants In the recent decades, immigration has become a more popular option globally. Many people choose to leave their home country simply for a better living environment or for other uncontrollable reasons, such as wars and natural disasters. There are some countries are more likely to accept immigrants; however some do not. One of the main reasons to rather accept or reject immigrants would be that it is a major impact on the country s labor market environment. Inviting immigrations into a country means that the labor force will increase due to the additional numbers of labor have been recently added into in. In general, as the supply in labor increases, the demand in labor decreases at the same time. That means it is then harder for the citizens of that particular country to find a job since there are more people competing for positions. However, most of the time it is not this simple. • 17. Moby Dick Research Paper It is not everyday that a man is able to write himself into history, only the greatest and most daring writers are able to break the threshold of humanity and ascend into the history books. Growing up with two of the most influential grandfathers who were both Revolutionary heroes, Herman Melville grew into a great writer. Bankruptcy and the loss of his father at age 12 had such a big impact on Herman that he was taken out of school and forced to work. He self taught himself and briefly went back to school to study Engineering (Reiff 9 11). During his early 20s, Melville was unable to get a job in engineering. He faced economic hardships which influenced him to go on voyages as an escape from his problems. Sailing consisted of relaxing and romanticizing with beautiful islanders despite the horrors of military punishments he experienced (Reiff 13). From 1844 to 1857, Melville spent his years as a full time writer to gain prestige and money while supporting his family (American Experience). Melville became known for one of his novels, Moby Dick, which was dedicated to Nathaniel Hawthorne. Moby Dick is known as one of the Greatest American Novels because the story had an exciting plot, philosophical statements, many comparisons, and symbols making the novelvery complex. The complexity of the literary writingsymbolized romance, particularly the romance of the sea. Without the use of these styles, techniques and conventions it wouldn t be possible for the practitioners to emphasise their ideas. In the play Ruby Moon Matt Cameron the playwright uses various techniques such as symbolism, transformational acting, cyclical and episodic dramatic structure and a fractured fairytale. In this early stage of nursing development, prospective nursing students take courses within an accredited nursing program to study foundational nursing curricula. During this time, a professional nursing student is able to take knowledge learned within a classroom and begin to apply fundamental practices under the supervision of their instructor. The student is completely reliant on external authority, an experienced knowledgeable teacher who provides the guidance for adequate practical support. Students rely on their instructor for guidance and the right answer to their questions. From my past experience in the LPN program this stage was when we were taking information learned in class and applying it in lab on simulated dummies for practice. The hydroxyl group on the aromatic ring is an electron donating group and therefore serves as an ortho para director. Through the nitration reaction, two products are formed: o nitrophenol and p nitrophenol. In comparing the stability of the two resulting products, o nitrophenol is less stable due to steric hinderance and proximity of the hydroxyl and nitro group to one another. On the other hand, p nitrophenol does not experience the same steric hinderance since the two group as on opposite sides of the aromatic ring and therefore do not interfere with one another. As a result, p nitrophenol is the major product of reaction. It is also the product of interest and will be involved in the next step of the synthesis. Subsequently, p nitrophenol is reduced by sodium borohydride to give 4 aminophenol. In an industrial synthesis, hydrogenation is used for reduction instead of sodium borohydride to produce an identical product(Travis 764). This quote was spoken by the second president of the united states and revered Patriot leader, Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson is trying to express how a person s true character and personality is expressed through their actions and how they live their lives, so if someone wants to truly know who they are inside, the best indications comes from their actions and how they impacted others. One excellent way to reflect upon one s inner self is with the Reflected Best Self Exerciseв„ў (RBSEв„ў) developed by the University of Michigan. This exercise utilizes stories collected from people in one s life to help them understand who they are and what they are like when they are at their very best. This exercise helps to highlight a person s strength and to distill confidence into their character. It helps a person to explore who they genuinely are and to be able to know their own personality a little bitbetter. This is especially crucial in the business world where knowing oneself, your strengths and limitations, is crucial in becoming an effective leader. Q methodology combines the strengths of both qualitative and quantitative methods (Brown, 1996). The method is one that studies subjectivity and can be used on various researches. Subjectivity can be defined as a person s communication of his or her point of view and it is always stems from a person s internal frame of reference (McKeown Thomas, 1988). An internal frame of reference can refer to the personal viewpoint of the respondent; in this research, it is the viewpoint of several people for reasons why project are delayed. Hence, this reference provides much more information than a yes, no question ever did (McKeown Thomas 1988). Q methodology uses the concept of ranking as simplified in Table 4.2. By asking multiple people from SHTC to rank the 40 statements, the prioritization of these criteria comes forth. All statements are based on people s opinion on why project delay, yet the comparison with other people s opinions and ranking the statements will bring about the real subjectivity (Brown, 1993). 4.1.2 The Q analysis process As the method revolves around the ranking of statements, the process starts by defining these statements. This set of statements, also referred to as the Q sample, should comprehensively represent the concourse: the sum of all things people say or think about the issue being investigated. The concourse is most typically collected through interviews and focus group discussions. In addition, sources such as publications, essays, or any other sources related to the issue may be used. The collection of the concourse and the Q sample is described in the previous chapter. What is in fact investigated is not just the concourse itself, but the inherent operant structure that exists in the concourse or the Q sample (Dryzek, Clark, McKenzie, 1989). The Q sample often exists of statements, however, it can be created from basically anything: from words to paintings or even songs (Brown, 1996). The potential impacts of this on flexible type pavement are as follows; a.Under maintained below zero temperatures amid winter, and relying upon the predominating moisture content in the pavement structure and the way of the pavement materials. The fluctuating thermal administration, particularly when de icing salts are applied on the surface, may prompt scaling at the surface of pavements. By improving the concrete composition for example, by utilizing air entering agent, higher cement content, lower water cement ratios the effect of de icing salt can be diminished. A noteworthy and supported decline in the recurrence of extremely cool days could lessen the danger of pavement harm brought about by frost heave, freeze thaw cycling and defrosting and could therefore decrease maintenance costs. Then again, it is not that simple. As winter gets hotter pavements get more presented to freezing and thawing cycle, prompting premature decay of pavement particularly to the upper layer of asphalt like cracking and ravelling. Hence, in areas where roads are usually frozen in winter, a decrease in the number of very cold days may impact the following; Potentially, a higher frequency of freeze thaw cycles, causing durability and fatigue problems, and greater incidence of black ice. Increased demand for de icing chemicals on account of the higher frequency of freeze thaw cycle, including potential damage from the adverse effect of repeated application. Wet surface condition occurring more frequently, allowing more water to ingress the pavement through cracks with consequential effects.
