A Company s Decision For Buy Navigation And Mapping Software
This scenario focuses on a company s decision to buy navigation and mapping software. The manager
of the company approaches their IT manager, Patrick, who is supposed to recommend the best
software. Although, Patrick does not commit any illegal offences, he shows through a number of
actions that he violates professional ethics. R Bradburn states that business ethics... is an oxymoron
suggesting that the idea of business can never coincide with ethics because business in itself is too
interested in expansion and selfish motives.
All IT professionals should meet the criteria of the British Computer Society Code of Conduct. The
BCS Code of Conduct states an employee should take into account Public Interests, Professional
Competence and Integrity, Duty to Relevant Authority and Duty to the Profession. The BCS Code of
Conduct seems to be based on Deontological Ethics as it states that it is an employee s duty to fulfil
these guidelines. Firstly, an interest in the effect on the public is vital to the maintenance of ethics
throughout a company. In a sense, a company cannot function properly without the support of the
public. Whereas, Professional Competence and Integrity indicates that an employee should try to gain
as much knowledge as possible to influence growth and improvement. This also indicates that those
seeking improvement within a company should encourage other employees to do the same. The BCS
section, Duty to Relevant Authority states that an employee

A Fall Before Rising
A Fall Before Rising by Jai Jaikumar is about a mountain climbing trip with Jai and his friend. They
were suppose to turnaround and head back to high camp due to safety considerations but decided to
continue climbing since they were not tired and they were also experienced. After reaching the
mountain summit they began their descent the cornice fell through, resulting in Jai and his companion
to be separated on the other side of the slope. Jai fell on the snow in the Himalayas at close to 24,000
feet, and of the consequent 60 mile per hour ride down part of the side of the mountain losing nearly
3000 feet in altitude, and then a 24 hour trek through snow and ice apparently on a broken hip until he
fell into the arms of a peasant woman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The moral aspect of this story is that of the shepherd woman who selflessly took up the fate of another
individual as her personal responsibility. She realized that she had to help this stranger because she
had the ability to do so. The woman refused to leave a stranger (Jai) until his journey was secured and
then she refused Jai s offer of payment for her kindness and generosity. This deed was done based on
her obvious personal ethical values which proved to be moral.
The stakeholders are anyone who was affected by the decisions that were made, in this case Jai and his
companion were the extreme stake holders and consequently it trickled down to a shepherd woman
and eventually several others. Jai was affected most since all the decisions made affected him directly
throughout the story. The shepherd woman, the village officials, and the physician were also affected
and therefore can be considered stakeholders. The assumptions of Jai and his companion were that
since they were both healthy and experienced at climbing despite their youth, when the 1 p.m. turn
around time came, the decision to press on had been easy to make, which was to continue on since the
prospects of doing it another day held little appeal to both men. Their assumptions did affect the
problem above, since they should

Taisho Art
Following the revolutionary Meiji Era, Taisho Art focused on eroticism and outrageous absurdity. Due
to a shift in power from the weakening Emperor Yoshihito, Japanese culture encouraged artists to
further express their own styles and thoughts on Western culture and which strengthened a sense of
individuality and increasing departure from traditional private Japanese customs. The following
Shōwa movement only further increased this individualism. Despite this vibrant cultural merging of
expression that inspired most art during this period, some artists continued to keep art to its traditional
roots simplicity. Two examples of this are found at the Philadelphia Museum of Art; Rabbit Gazing at
the Moon by Ōta Ryōhei and Sketch of a Rabbit by Takeuchi Seihö. ... Show more content on

Inspired by a Chinese legend, there is a hare living on the moon that concocts the elixir of immortality.
Though carved from wood, the beautiful curvaceous figure flows as if it were an actual rabbit, each
angle carefully simplified. The rabbit seems to rest on the surface, it s gaze turned upward, almost
proud. Similar to ancient Sumi paintings, this Japanese Sculpture exemplifies simplicity, including
only the essence of each figure whether mountain landscapes, flora, or furry mammals. Painted by
Takeuchi Seihö in 1920, Sketch of a Rabbit shows the skill of this Japanese artist in simplifying the
shapes of animals, yet keeping the essence of each shape. Each stroke is fundamental for the shape of
the rabbit, and no curve is wasted. Despite so few strokes and little shading, one can still sense the
realistic plumpness of the rabbit due to the foreshortening of its body. The background places utmost
importance on its subject as well, remaining blank and empty to keep the Rabbit the main focal

Situational Analysis of Esl Student
CONTEXT Katie, aged 15, is a highly motivated student from a family with a strong educational
background, currently living and studying in a British style International School in Ho Chi Minh City
(HCMC), Vietnam, and is a member of the increasing group of globally mobile students. Katie can be
solidly placed into the entering phrase of the transition from Taiwanese national to immigrant in a
Western society, where she has decided to become part of the new community, but is still figuring out
what that means (Hayden 2006:53) at the age of thirteen. She is an example of what has recently been
identified as a common occurrence for international school students, children going through a
sojourner adjustment (McKillop Ostrom 2000), as can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It will also serve to provide the beginning stage of a more comprehensive action research study to
allow me to meet her needs as best I can, which I will discuss in the conclusion. METHODOLOGY
The objective of this case study is to describe, in terms of second language acquisition theory, this
student s language proficiency, especially through the lens of whether she will achieve the expected C
grade required of her for passing and matriculation. The key research question for this case study is,
What are the specific language based and affective patterns that identify this child, and can they be
described in an inter related fashion? My hypothesis is that such thick description (Geertz 1994) can
be reached through two different but complementary aspects of second language acquisition theory by
integrating the discussion along these lines: Learner language analysis. Features and patterns are
identified through a close analysis of Katie s output: written and oral. This is matched to SLA theory,
and gaps between the target and achieved language will be identified. Affective factors as revealed
from choices in responding to prompts and the content of discussion from three interviews held with
Katie.

Homework Is Too Much Homework
Starting in Preschool, students experience the responsibility of completing homework. Whether a
student is memorizing the alphabet, completing multiplication worksheets, writing poems and essays,
or completing pre calculus problems, homework consumes much of their time. As time progress
homework is becoming more of a burden to students. As children become older and life becomes more
hectic, they cannot find enough hours in a day to correctly and fully complete their homework.
Because of this, students can possibly fall behind in school and homework quickly becomes useless.
Students of all ages are assigned too much homework. Homework consumes too much of a student s
like and leaves no time for the more important aspects of life. In the article Too Much Homework
written by Professor Carol Huntsinger, which gives insights from a book called The End of
Homework: How Homework Disrupts Families, Overburdens Children and Limits Learning , written
by Etta Kralovec and John Buell, explains that a student s busy schedule along with immense amounts
of homework takes away from the most important parts of life. In this article, Huntsinger explains
how a student named Josh Preston has a full high school course load, attends meetings, participates in
school activities, and also attends three hour swim practices in the evening. Huntsinger then goes on to
explain that after coming home from practice at 7:30 p.m., Preston has to do almost four hours of
homework which leads to him only

Housing Bubble Case Study
Why This Isn t a Housing Bubble
Housing prices have been rising steadily, but rumors of a new housing bubble are tempering optimism.
Many reports are suggesting that the current housing bubble is greater than the one that formed in
2006 and burst in 2008. But is there any truth to these dire predictions, or is it just media hype and
speculation?
Overvalued Homes Don t Equal an Impending Crash
Compared to the first three months of 2015, twice as many metropolitan home markets are now
considered overvalued. Overvalued here means that the prices are inflated compared to income. The
media says prices are likely to come crashing down, yet experts say this isn t the case. Just because
home prices are overvalued doesn t mean there s an impending ... Show more content on

At $236,000, the average sales price of a home in the United States is now above what it was in 2006.
Prices in 14 of the 100 largest metropolitan markets in the country are now above their historical
averages. Look a little deeper, however, and there are reasonable explanations for the spike in prices.
Of the 14 metropolitan markets mentioned above, six are in Texas, which recently experienced a huge
oil boom. Texas may serve as a microcosm for what s happening in the rest of the country.
High Demand, Low Supply
The most fundamental principle in economics is supply and demand. It just so happens that this very
simple economic truth is the cause of the so called bubble; housing demand across the country is high,
and supply is near record lows.
Ten years ago, the bubble was caused by free, easy credit that led many people to take out mortgages
they couldn t afford. This isn t the case today not at all. Recent mortgage regulations are now
beginning to take effect, and lenders and borrowers are more informed and acting more responsibly.
The Verdict?
Don t let the dire predictions in the media get to you. Mortgage rates are nearly 5% lower than their
historic averages, making it an excellent time to think about becoming a

Abdominal Wounds Research Paper
Chest and abdominal wounds were nearly always fatal. Treatment of abdominal wounds often
involved pushing in protruding organs and suturing the wound. Food was withheld because fecal
material leaking from the intestines caused contamination. Opium was often administered to halt the
action of the digestive system. Chest wounds were cleaned and the wound was sutured. Abdominal
wounds were fatal in almost 90 percent of the cases reported by Union surgeons.
An example of this is the case of Henry A. Barnum. Major General Henry A. Barnum was injured at
Malvern Hill, Virginia on July 1st, 1862, by a musket ball that passed through his left lower abdomen.
The ball penetrated his intestines and hip bone. The wound was determined to be fatal and he was left
in a field hospital. A few days later, he was captured by the enemy and taken 18 miles to Libby Prison.

The grisly wounds caused by bullets and shrapnel were often contaminated by clothing and other
debris. Cleaning such a wound was time consuming and often ineffective. However, amputation made
a complex wound simple ( To Bind Up the Nation s Wounds ). Amputation performed within 24 to 48
hours after injury was considered a primary amputation. A secondary amputation was one performed
more than three days after injury. Surgical manuals taught that an amputation should be performed
within the first two days following injury. Confederate General Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson, who
had his left arm amputated, was said to have stated that the sound of the saw on the bone was the
sweetest music he had ever heard. He also described chloroform as an infinite blessing (Wheat, T. A.).
Of the approximately 30,000 amputations performed in the Civil War there was a 26.3 percent
mortality rate. In the 1870 Franco Prussian War, despite the lessons learned in the Civil War, the
mortality rate for amputations was 76 percent (Burns, Stanley

Essay On Bureaucrats
Federal bureaucrats can slow down or stall a president s agenda by claiming lack of knowledge or by
using interests groups. Bureau chiefs can claim they do not have enough information to make a
decision, especially a decision involving other bureaus. By doing this, they are claiming then need
more time to investigate, which slows the president s policies. By using interest groups, bureaucrats
can go through Congress. This interest groups plead to their Senators and House reps, which takes
longer to have the president s policies in place by law. They can also sabotage a president s agenda by
leaking unauthorized information. This reduces the president s credibility and forces people to think
about the effect of the new information on the policies. Bureaucrats would do these things, because
they support their burea more than the president. These bureaucrats sincerely believe in their bureau s
purpose and feel they must protect its jurisdiction, programs, and budget at all costs (Heclo 275).
Presidents and administrations chance, but the bureaus stay and bureaucrats try to stand in its best
standings. The president can counter the attempts to slow down, stall, or sabotage his administration
by building strong outside contacts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Mother s Blue Bowl
An impression is an initial reaction to a text or an experience. It is similar to talking without thinking
or the first response pregnancy test since an individual describes their first response about an event
based on little information. The short story My Mother s Blue Bowl written by Alice Walker left
readers with heartwarming, memorable and unforgettable impressions. To begin with, the initial
feeling left behind is a gratifying heartwarming thought. The mother displays the great lengths an
individual would go to protect and give her children the best experience of life. The houses they live
in clearly show the different challenges they face but, the mother never uses it as an excuse to let her
children down. For example, when Alice went ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The comfort and cherishing moments are what last forever. Lastly, the final remarks of the story give
an unforgettable feeling and idea. The mother teaches the readers a lesson that is hard to ignore and
neglect. This unforgettable feeling is illustrated by the mother giving away her possessions and not
dwelling over them. She lets go of them as easily as a feather falls. For instance, the narrator explains
every time she visits her mother she owns less and gradually only has a small amount of stuff left
over. The narrator addresses the few things remaining are the ones given to her by her children. The
mother implies letting go of tangible things and holding on harder to remember the important people
is more precious. The remarkable idea of recycling everything and feeling no regret is unforgettable.
Many people value material possession rather than well being and actualized lives. The unforgettable
reaction of the mother being so genuinely happy and sustained with the smallest amount of objects is
shocking. Living in a materialistic society, an individual s wants and needs are luxuries of objects that

Kitty Ball Character Analysis
When we were first introduced to Kitty, I thought she was a standard, sheltered little princess with few
problems in her life. She seemed like a Bella Swan style bimbo, a perfectly beautiful airhead from a
poorly written fanfiction. Jacob or Edward? Vronsky or Levin? Her life was like an empty romance
story disguised by flowery language. She s loved despite having absolutely no merit. And in many
ways, Kitty truly is a spoiled, overprotected girl. But, when she is rejected by Vronsky, something
inside her fundamentally changes.
Kitty s rejection by Vronsky is not just a single heartbreak; instead, it is representative of growing up
and learning about the harsh realities of life in one blow.
Kitty begins as a character who is very secure in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She isn t some trashy homewrecker who Kitty can bring herself to hate or even brush off; she s a
mature and elegant woman who is far more grown than Kitty is. Even her outfit reflects this: even
though Kitty thought Anna would look most beautiful in a bright, gaudy lilac, Anna chooses to wear a
minimal, and yet ultimately more stunning, black dress. Kitty observes Anna s dance with Vronsky,
and the feeling that she will never truly come to understand everything in the way Anna does hits her
hard. In comparison to Anna, Kitty is unquestionably a child, and this comes with two thoughts: first,
the thought that she is the inferior woman, and second, the realization that she is too inexperienced to
be making decisions about such important matters as marriage.
She becomes further overwhelmed by the weight of choosing a spouse as it becomes clear to her that
her thought that Vronsky ever loved her was completely wrong. As Kitty observes Vronsky and Anna
s dance, it hits her that Vronsky has never loved her in the first place. She sees that Anna was drunk
with the wine of the rapture she inspired (81) in Vronsky. Vronsky s admiration and obedience is clear
as day to Kitty, and she is horrified (81) to see how he loses all her confidence in the face of Anna s
beauty. As she watches the two dance, she experiences a feeling she never has before jealousy. She can
feel the significance of every motion they make. Kitty, who has never seen Vronsky s glazed face,

Black bears in BC have a population that is 9 times that of the grizzlies, however, the results show that
the grizzlies have inflicted 9.7 times more attacks on humans in the past 16 years. This goes to show
that grizzly bears have a higher tendency to attack due to the natural factors and stresses that act on
them cause them to be much more aggressive with less tolerance to threats (Herrero, Aspects of
Evolution and Adaptation in American Black Bears (Ursus americanus Pallas) and Brown and Grizzly
Bears (U. arctos Linne.) of North America n.d.). Many other papers such as Herrero s study in both

Amendments Of The Fifth Amendment
This Amendment was passed by Congress on September 25, 1789 and was ratified by the states
December 15, 1789. It is a part of the Bill of Rights, the first Ten Amendments of the Constitution.
The Fifth Amendment has five sections or clauses. Clause number one The right to a Grand Jury
Hearing. The Grand Jury decides whether to indict a person. This is not a trial. The exception to this
clause is, land or naval forces in service during time of war or public danger. Article 1 Section 8 gives
the authority for the use of Military Courts for the Armed Forces. This denies military personnel the
same rights as civilians. Clause number two is the Double Jeopardy Clause. This protects you from
being prosecuted twice for the same crime after conviction or acquittal, or multiple punishments for
the same crime. This does not count if one is a civil case and one is a criminal case. A person can be
prosecuted by the state and the federal government if he/she has committed a crime in state and
federal jurisdiction. Usually the federal side will concede to the state and not prosecute. Clause
number three is the Self Incrimination Clause. This clause protects from a person that has been
accused of a crime from being forced to testify against him/herself. We are innocent until proven
guilty, it is the job of the state or federal governments to prove guilt. Words can be changed in ways
physical evidence cannot. Information from sobriety tests, voice samples etc. are admissible in court,

Theme Of Symbolism In A Prayer For Owen Meany
Owen s Armless Figures Several themes can be found within the pages of A Prayer for Owen Meany
by John Irving; however, a more prominent theme that moves the story along is that of symbolism.
For Owen Meany, he seems to be obsessed with armless figures all his life from Tabby s dressmaker,
to the armadillo, and finally, Mary Magdalene. Readers cannot help but to try to correlate all these
images into a bigger picture. The Watahantowet totem became the first of Owen s many fascinations
with armless figures at a young age . The totem is of a Sagamore Indian chief who sold his tribe s
lands to European settlers. The totem does not have hands because the indian chief had no choice but
to sell his lands, in a sense his hands were tied. A major part of Owen s childhood seems to be Tabby s
dressmaker. As the readers know, Owen was close to John s mother and her dressmaker was a nearly
perfect copy of her body, making it a comforting object for Owen, especially after her death. As young
children John and Owen used to dress the dummy, but for Owen this seems to be more than just a
childhood game. In fact, after Tabby dies, Owen takes the dummy from Dan s apartment and takes it
home with him. This object serves as a significant object in Owen s life because one night while
spending the night at 80 Front Street, Owen was feeling ill and he went into Tabby s room. He saw the
dressmaker in the dark and believed it to be the Angel of Death come to take Tabby away and he
scared it off when he walked in. After this, he believed that it was his destiny to be the one to kill
Tabby because he had interrupted the angel, explaining why he felt little remorse when he killed her.
Another symbol without arms was the armadillo, who at first had claws. The armadillo symbolises the
friendship John and Owen had and the loss of innocence they felt when Tabby died. After Tabatha had
died, John let Owen take the armadillo home in an effort to comfort him. When Owen brought the
stuffed animal back its legs and claws had been removed. At first this seems like an odd occurrence
that will never be explained, but later the audience puts the puzzle pieces together and discover that
Owen was trying to show John how God has made him his

The Stock Market s Impact on Our Lives Essay
Every weekday from the hours of 10am to 4pm $169 billion dollars on average trades hands from one
party to another. It s the New York Stock Exchange and has been trading stocks since 1817. The stock
market has a definite impact on our lives (just ask those who lived during The Great Depression.) It is
an institution that has made people unfathomably wealthy, along with impossibly poor. Today the New

The New York Stock Exchange was not always the financial giant it is today. When it first began in
May of 1792 it only traded five securities, the first of which was the Bank of New York. At the start
only twenty four brokers were allowed to participate in trading. It wasn t until 1817 that the New York
Stock Exchange began to embody something close to what we know today. All of the 24 brokers
established a constitution of rules with how the exchange must operate. These rules included
everything from how one s self could lose their membership to fines for swearing. More importantly
though they protected the integrity of the exchange with it s regulations. The New York Stock
Exchange has had its fair share of tragedies as well. In 1920 a bomb went off outside of the exchange
killing 38 people; the largest act of terrorism on United States soil at the time. The bomber was never

How To Avoid When De-Icing Your Windshield
During the winter months, snow and ice is a common problem. Not only does it make the roads slick
and dangerous, it also coats your vehicle. While removing snow and ice might seem like an easy task,
it can become difficult. Removing snow and ice the wrong way can easily cause your windshield to
crack. So what should you avoid when de icing your windshield? Here are three things: 1. Hot Water
A lot of people think hot water is a good idea, especially when they are in a hurry. While hot water
certainly can melt ice, it isn t a good idea to pour it onto your windshield. Cold glass is under a lot of
stress and warming it up too quickly causes a thermal shock, which can easily make it crack or shatter.

Examples Of Odysseus Return Home
Odysseus Returns Home is an excerpt of The Odyssey. Written by Homer centuries ago it still
enchants its readers. Odysseus return home from Troy, after twenty years, was, without a doubt, a big
challenge, as well as, a surprise. The return of the hero is part of his destiny, in addition to, part of his
path to obtain glory and recognition.
According to Dictionary.com, destiny is something that is predetermined, usually inevitable or
irresistible course of events. For a hero, their destiny is mostly determined by the gods. What
Odysseus tells Telemachus when he finds out his father is back is an example of how even the heroes
recognize their fate, Quiet, his father, the old soldier, warned him. Get a grip on yourself. No more

When we do a good job or win something, who doesn t like to be praised? It is the same way for
heroes. Their return is a synonym of glory. For example, when Odysseus was undercover he tells
Penelope how his welcome was and how he was treated, So I took Odysseus back to my house, gave
him a hero s welcome, treated him in style stores in our palace made for princely entertainment. (The
Return of Odysseus, pg. 27) A hero has to prove his heroicness, retell the stories of his andreia, if not,
it never happened and he becomes one more of the rest. For instance, Odysseus to stand out, says that
people said he was a man like a god. (The Return of Odysseus, pg. 30) His return not only is
beneficial for him, but also for his community. Now, they obtain a hero, which becomes a symbol of
strength and power. Odysseus return, like many others, needed a perfect timing, enough time to leave
people in suspense. As he tells Penelope, Odysseus would have been here beside you long ago, but he
thought it would be better, shrewder course to recoup his fortunes roving through the world. (The
Return of Odysseus, pg. 30) He returned because he had a story to tell, if he wouldn t have gone back
he wouldn t have been able to exalt his own achievements, nor let others exalt

Imagery of Blood, Light and Clothing in Macbeth by William...
Imagery of Blood, Light and Clothing in Macbeth by William Shakespeare
Imagery, the art of making images, the product of imagination (Merriam
Webster). Shakespeare uses many forms of imagery in his writing of Macbeth. Three main forms of
imagery in this play are blood, light and darkness, and clothing. Within each form of this imagery
Shakespeare incorporates symbols that the reader must understand if they are to interpret either the
passage or the play as a whole. In Macbeth blood symbolizes many things. We have all known blood
to represent life, death, and often injury. In the play, Shakespeare uses blood to represent treason, guilt,
murder, and death. Shakespeare uses the word blood many times throughout
Macbeth. The best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such as seen on pg.124 Act I scene v when lady Macbeth asks the spirits Make thick my blood. In this
quote she wants to make herself insensitive towards the deeds that she is about to commit. Towards
the end of the play blood symbolizes guilt. This is best seen on pg. 176 Act V scene ii, when Lady
Macbeth states Out, damned spot! Out, I say! One: two: why, then tis time to do t. In this quote Lady
Macbeth is remembering the night of the murder. It is the guilt in her soul that is making hr have these
recurring nightmares. The last symbolism of blood is on pg.
185 Act II scene viii when Macduff states I have no words: my voice is in my sword, thou bloodier
villian than terms can give thee out! In this quote the imagery of blood again begins to deal with
honor. The second form of imagery Shakespeare uses is light and darkness. In the play
Macbeth Shakespeare uses the witches, the guilt in Macbeth s soul, and the darkness of the night to
establish the atmosphere. The immoral scenes of the play seem to take place at night. For instance, the
vision of the dagger, the murder of Duncan, the murder of
Banquo, and Lady Macbeth s sleep walking. In the opening scene the witches set the mood of the play.
A great storm of thunder and lightning is taking place one of the witches ask When shall we meet

night. Another example of

Who We are is Determined by the Intertwined Forces of...
Nature or Nurture
Every human being is unique. Were we destined to be the way we are, or have we been made this way
through our environment and experiences? Psychology has long been debating the issue of Nature
versus Nurture. Characteristics such as hair and eye color are generally recognized to be controlled by
genetics. Those on the Nature side (Nativists) claim that genetics control much more, including
personality and character. Nurture backers (empiricists) will argue that a person s environment and
experiences determine those traits. So is it possible to prove which side is right? The latest findings
suggest that the debate may not be that simple. In light of the new information, it is no longer an either
one or the other debate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The balance between genetic and environmental influence is not exactly the same for everyone.
Jonathan D. Rockoff (2013) wrote in the New York Times, They are finding that sensitivity to the
environment resides in the biology of the nervous system. And some people, because of their genetic
makeup and life experiences, are more sensitive to outside influences than others. People react
differently to the same external stress. We have all witnessed varied responses to the inconvenience of
being caught in a traffic jam, some people lay on the horn, others complain, and some just sit there
bopping to the tune on the radio. If a child is riding in that car, will they display the same behavior as
their parent, and if so is it because they learned it or were they passed a gene for that behavior? The
answer, according to recent studies, is it depends. A study by Lee, Brooks Gunn,
McLanahan,Notterman, and Garfinkel (2013) examined the effects that the 2007 2009 recession had
on the harshness of maternal parenting. They found that bad economic times had a stronger effect on
harsh parenting than improved conditions. They also noted mothers responses to adverse economic

Supernatural Elements Of Macbeth By William Shakespeare
Supernatural Forces In Macbeth 1)Even today people struggle with whether or not to believe in
supernatural forces, such as ghosts or witchcraft, but those who would admit that they let the
supernatural guide their behaviors and predict their futures would be harder to find. 2) Shakespeare s
play, Macbeth, takes place during medieval times when many people believed strongly in the presence
and power of witchcraft and in the supernatural. 3) In Macbeth, Shakespeare uses three witches, a
floating dagger, and Banquo s ghost, as supernatural forces which increasingly motivate and influence
Macbeth s actions as the play progresses. Near the end of the play, Macbeth becomes so influenced by
these forces that almost all of his actions are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
11)Shakespeare uses the supernatural as a constant underlying theme of the play, with the witches
words placing the idea of greater power and fame in Macbeth s head, but Macbeth makes his own evil
choices in pursuit of his originally noble goal of becoming King.
4)Another form of the supernatural Shakespeare uses is the floating dagger Macbeth sees before he
commits to killing King Duncan. 5)The floating dagger, covered in blood, symbolizes evil, and leads
Macbeth to go forward with his plan to kill Duncan. As Macbeth questions whether he should commit
the murder, he sees a bloody dagger appearing before him with the handle pointing towards his hand,
and he speaks Come, let me clutch thee (Shakespeare 2.1.41 42). 6)Macbeth s doubts about killing the
King disappear, as Shakespeare uses the dagger to lure Macbeth towards King Duncan s room.
7)Macbeth sees the dagger as a sign, that he is being led by the supernatural to commit the murder, but
really he is only following his own greedy desire to become King. 8)The floating dagger appears to
hypnotize Macbeth, because he confesses mine eyes are the fools o the other senses (Shakespeare
2.1.52). 9)Shakespeare has Macbeth kill Duncan to illustrate a change in Macbeth as he grows more
evil in pursuit of his goals. Macbeth becomes more dependent on what he believes the

Crimes can be committed by everyone. The age of criminals have decreased as the crime committed
increased in violence through time. Innocent lives are often lost in acts of violence, such as what had
happened at Columbine. Children who commit malicious crimes can either be tried as a child or an
adult. Children tried in the juvenile court systems are able to get out of jail around or before they turn
21. Juvenile courts are meant to rehabilitate children who are said to be too young to understand their
actions. Adults who commit the same crime as children are believed to be fully aware of their actions
and the repercussions. If a child is tried as an adult, then the child can be given a longer sentence.
Children who commit serious crimes should be tried as adults. With time, the severity of the crimes
committed by children have been seen to be worse. Juvenile criminals, are still regarded by the law as
children first criminals second (Collier 1). The juvenile court was originally created to help
rehabilitate children who commit crimes such as stealing. Now the juvenile court can be seen

Statistics show that, crimes committed by juveniles have increased by 60 percent since 1984 (Collier

Culture Of Kuwait Culture
Kuwait Culture The term culture is one of those words that we use routinely, but what is it exactly?
Basically, culture is the multipart overall of a society which includes everything that gives a society an
identity. Culture may consist of customs, languages, and religion beliefs amid other characteristics that
are ordinary to people of a nation/region. What is predominantly interesting about cultures is that each
culture, no matter where it is located, shares at least five basic characteristics. However, every culture
has its own distinct characteristics that differentiate it from the others. One of such cultures is the
Kuwait culture. This culture awareness essay will attempt to emphasis on cultural aspects of the
people of Kuwait while drawing your attention to the social culture annalists of Kuwait nation/region s
physical geography, weather analysts, current and passed military conflicts and its impact on the

It was this Maternal Deprivation Hypothesis (1953; 1969) that sought to bring Bowlby and attachment
theory its strongest criticism (Rutter 1981; Clarke Clarke 1998) The theory that if a child is deprived
of its mother, or mother substitute at a key point (approx. 6 months to 3 years) for work purposes, or
even for the purpose of hospitalisation, the child s social and cognitive development would suffer as a
result. The critiques have gone from levelling criticism, to the Hypothesis itself being largely
discredited (Smith et al 2011) Importantly, regardless of whether or not the theory was believed, it is
known to have had a profound effect on a generation of mothers.

A corporate brand is a product of an organization s corporate strategy, mission, image, and activities.
Corporate brands distinguish organizations from their competitors, orient the organization in the
minds of customers and employees, and create a perception of what an organization stands for (Matrix
AMC, 2014) CCC will need to establish an organizational branding standard that makes a statement to
potential clients of the high standards that they bring to the business.
Recruiting/Screening/Selecting CCC can begin the recruiting process by posting internally within the
organization, offering positioned to be available in Arizona to the current staff in Michigan.
Recruitment would then turn to external candidates; postings can be made in local newspapers, job
fair participation and the use of temporary worker agencies. Screening should include drug testing,
background checks for any criminal activity that might preclude a candidate from employment with
CCC. Additionally a financial background check is covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which
requires third party investigators to secure the applicants written consent prior to doing a background

be qualified for a particular position but with training may be able to obtain the skills

Horse Slaughter
Horse Slaughter
The topic of horse slaughter doesn t usually come up very often in everyday conversation. Horse
slaughter is more of an implicit subject, which your everyday person doesn t know much about.
Because it is highly controversial, it has gone through the cycle of being banded and then reinstated
twice in the last 5 years. With being involved in the horse industry my entire life, I have witnessed the
effects first hand. Some people see it as killing pets, animal cruelty, and morally wrong. However, I
see it as a source of income, a way to stop the starvation and abuse of horses, an export industry for
the United States, as well as a quality meal for in times of despair. The history of people eating horse
meat dates back to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the 1930 s low supply and high cost of pork and beef made horse meat rise in popularity.
Again during World War II, people were again in the same predicament. Inflation during the early
1970 s raised the cost of traditional meats; Time Magazine reported from Carlson s, a butcher shop in
Westbrook, CT, that they were selling over 6,000 pounds of horse meat a day. (Weil) In 2006, the
House of Representatives voted to end horse slaughter; the bill passed to make the killing and selling
American horses for human consumption an illegal practice in the United States.
Today in the US, people do not consume horse meat on a whole sale basis. But because many other
counties do, the exporting of horse meat is a huge industry. When the ban was in place, US horses
were being transported to Canada and Mexico to be slaughtered instead. From 2006 to 2010 the
increase in horses being exported to Canada and Mexico was 148 and 660 percent. They are loaded up
on trailers and shipped across the boarders, often times going days without food or water until they
reach their destination. The regulations, or lack thereof, are different than in the US. (Shesgreen)
Valley Meat Co. owner Rick De Los Santos brings up valid points in his interview with NBC News
last week. The majority of people, who are against slaughter, are getting caught up on the ick factor of
killing our pets . However, the process is the exact same for cows and pigs.

The Importance Of Uplink Over Utilization Protection
Uplink over utilization protection It s important to establish thresholds when looking at both short and
long term utilization and growth of the network infrastructure. Doing so eliminates guesswork and
provides a clear understanding of when additional resources should be required. Specifically speaking,
a threshold is normally based on percentage of usage (in comparison to the maximum available
bandwidth). Example; 50% of 100 Mbps translate to 50 Mbps of overall usage. When establishing a
percentage threshold, it s important to consider things like margin of safety and historic growth rates .
In the case of margin of safety , the threshold number should be high enough to alert that more
bandwidth will be needed, but low enough to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One other thing to note regarding bandwidth, the difference between 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps is
capacity, not speed of operation. A 100 Mbps Ethernet connection is capable of passing 100 megabits
of data in a one second period. In comparison a 1 Gbps is capable of passing 1 gigabit of data in a one
second period. The actual speed of the data is the same, it s just capable of passing more data in a one
second period. (Think of 100 Mbps connection as a single lane road with a 1 Gbps connection as a
multi lane highway with the speed limit of both roads being 55 Mph). In this example more cars can
travel on the highway as compared to the single lane road, but are still traveling at the same speed.

General bandwidth utilization guidelines
As a general rule of thumb, the chart below (see figure 1.1) shows a general guideline indicating the
peak percentages of utilization on a LAN or WAN, and what (if anything) needs to be addressed
depending on peak utilization. With regards to peaks, another factor needs to be mentioned, and that s
the frequency of peaks. The frequency of peaks defines how often the peaks occur. This is an
important point as the higher the frequency the sooner the potential need for more

Another supplement I found is Niacin. Niacin reduces the risk of heart attack dramatically. Niacin can

Florence requires more advanced education in the arts. I propose that a new academy be constructed in
the city with the purpose of teaching these skills to citizens from across Europe. The main concern for
this academy is the curriculum. First of all, there should be an emphasis on Humanism, because it s a
belief system growing in popularity that has been advancing the arts so far and has been restoring
Roman design elements in all mediums of art, most notably observable in architecture and
perspective. Next, I should specify the materials that will be taught. There will be a focus in
architecture, painting, metalworking, ceramics and sculpture. There will also be a language
requirement, calling for students to learn classical Latin and Greek while at the Academies, allowing
for them to read original Roman and Greek texts. This will allow them to draw inspiration for their
work. As someone who learned the secrets of Architecture by studying Ancient Roman structures and

Siopis In Face The Drink
Penny Siopis and Egon Schiele influenced the use of colour in my piece Face the Drink . Siopis
influenced it by her lithograph Model Prisoners , which showed me how expressive colour really is.
Egon Shciele influenced my work, by the way he uses distorted figures and faces to express emotion,
as well as his use of arbitrary colour. Both Schiele and Siopis has taught me many different techniques
that I am excited to use in the future. Penny Siopis influenced my drawing style by the use of her
emotive colours (predominately red) and her semi distorted faces, from her Pinky Pinky series. In her
lithograph Model Prisoners a lot of emotion is shown through her use of red, to symbolising intense
passion, aggression, and courage. My goal for my piece Face the Drink would be, like Siopis, to show
emotion through the colour and distortion of tone. My concept behind Face the Drink is to express

alcohol gives people. My main aim is to fill the wall with my distorted, colourful faces to make people
feel over whelmed and uncomfortable. Siopis taught me that a message can still be strong without the
use of many colours, but in my case I felt like my piece needed many colours to portray the message.

Tetrafluoro Phthalate Crystalss And Their Types Of Crystals
Semi organic nonlinear optical materials are receiving a great deal of attention, as they have large
optical susceptibilities, inherent ultra fast response times and high optical thresholds for laser power
compared with inorganic materials. In the present investigation, a systematic study has been carried
out on the growth of pure and doped Tetrafluoro Phthalate crystals. The lattice parameters find
through Powder X ray diffraction analysis for the grown pure and doped crystals. The functional
groups, stretching are found through FT IR analysis, optical, absorption studies through UV Vis
analysis, Thermal studies under TG/DTA analysis, through Vickers test and LCR metre the
microhardness and dielectric studies were also carried out for ... Show more content on

Since, for the past three decades, one could see that there are lot of developments in science and
technology especially, in the fields of electronics, fibre optic communication and lasers [12]. The
scientific community achieving this development in functional materials through the single crystals of
Si, Ge and GaAs with NLO properties [13]. To enable a material to be potentially useful for NLO
applications the material should be available in bulk Tetrafluoro Phthalate crystals (TFP). Also
research into the growth of large single crystals TFP of from aqueous solution is currently serving as
the important avenue to general progress in understanding many fundamental concepts of
crystallization [14]. The effect of seed of different orientations on the habit of c and the change of

Usc Sosw 503 Assignment 1 Systems and Ecological Theory Essay
SOWK 503 Fall 2012
Assignment #1: Article Critique
9/26/12
Julie Emmer LCSW CAP
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to critically critique and evaluate the study: Parenting a Child With a
Disibility: The Role of Social Support for African American Parents, written by Jung Hwa Ha, Jan S.
Greenburg, amp; Marsha Mallick Seltzer. This paper will critically apply the Ecological Perspective
and Systems Theory, to the social concern as it addressed in this study. This paper will accomplish this
critique by assessing the hypothesis, evaluating the method of study, and critically discussing the
results of the study in question by using the key concepts of the fore mentioned theories. Upon the
completion of this paper, the reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A social system is a special order of systems... composed of persons or groups of persons who interact
and influence each other s behavior. Within this order can be included persons families, organizations,
communities, societies, and cultures (Robbins, Chatterjee amp; Canda, 2011). The systems theory
allows us to examine the focal system from a micro, meso, or macro perspective. Keeping all of the
individual systems autonomous, while still being able to conceptualize the interrelatedness of the
systems together.
Similar to the systems theory, the ecological theory embraces many of the same concepts, but has
narrowed the focus, so that it does not include such a broad view of the system. The Ecological theory
is an adaptive, evolutionary view of human beings in constant exchange interchange with all elements
of their environment (Germain amp; Gitterman, 1980, p. 5). The idea that person and the environment
are inseparable and must be considered jointly, is primary assumption of this theory. The person and
his or her environment form a unitary system in which each is dependent on the other and directly
shapes each other.
Application of theory and key concepts The sample of population of this study was derived from a
population in the urban areas of Milwaukee. Even though this study did not disclose evidence
concerning the ecosystem and the environment of the subjects, it would be fair to assume that they are
victims of

Analysis Of Anna Deavere Smith s Fires In The Mirror
My sense is that American character lives not in one place or the other, but in the gaps between the
places, and in our struggle to be together in our differences, (Anna Deavere Smith). Anna Deavere
Smith in her play, Fires in the Mirror, takes two different cultural communities and interviews their
standpoint of the conflict at hand. The underlying racism present in this community is soon brewed
into a pandemonium once the death of both a Black and Jewish individual take place. Fires in the
Mirror is a social drama that presents a breach as several Jewish males accidentally kill a young Black
boy in a car accident. Due to this incident, it causes a crisis within the community as a Jewish man is
later murdered by Black males to pursue revenge for the cause of this breach. With a social drama
following the guideline to find a redressive action to limit the spread of the breach, Smith in her
interviews portrays that this community fails to do so. Because of this, the reintegration becomes an
irreparable breach between the two. Consequently, due to the social clash between the Black and
Jewish communities, the city of Crown Heights becomes socially segregated. Individuals interviewed
in this play are heavily indulged in looking at what segregates them from one another that it leads to
individuals pointing fault or playing victim, which inevitably will never lead to a resolution to this
social crisis. Individuals that have been interviewed have focused their energy on what segregates
themselves from one another that it restrains them from foreseeing a solution to the social crisis
among their community. A major conflict brought up throughout multiple interviews was the scene
where the accident happened. Multiple interviews have their own perspective of the situation as well
as their opinion about the different ambulances that arrives in the scene.Rabbi Joseph Speilman in No
Blood in His Feet explains, The Jewish community has a volunteer ambulance corps which is funded
totally from the nations...The EMS responded with three ambulances on the scene. They were there
before the Jewish ambulance came (69). This explain shows how in a city where the citizens are under
one government, when a tragic

Red Dress 1964
Red dress 1946 is a short story from Dance of the happy shades (a collection of short stories) by Alice
Munroe. It is about the great social pressures faced by the narrator, surrounding the chronological
events that take place before, during and after a school dance. The Red dress is the dress her mother
makes her for the dance, when she would clearly like to buy one instead from a store, this suggests to
us that she can not afford readymade clothes which then leads us to presume she is of a lower socio
economic class. The story is written from the point of view of an adolescent girl in 1946 who is
growing up. It is in first person narration which effectively carries the anxiety of the protagonist
making it personal and leading the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Around the house she wore no corset or stockings, she wore wedge heeled shoes and ankle socks; her
legs were marked with lumps of blue green vein. I thought her squatting position shameless, even
obscene... This also gives an insight as to what the protagonist see s a lady must be like as opposed her
mother who she see s in some lights as a failure as a women.
The protagonists best friend a girl named Lonnie is categorised as the typical normal girl, she is polite
to adults and boy crazy. Through the descriptive language used it becomes evident her friend is two
faced (polite to grownups only when they are present), quote Lonnie wore the composed polite
appreciative expression that her disguise in the presence of grown ups. She laughed at them and was a
ferocious mimic, and they never knew. She is more adult, a good friend, and the manner in which she
is presented indicated that she is from a higher social class. It s beautiful, said Lonnie, in her mild,
sincere voice.
When the story s tone is anxious, the setting in which the story takes place is the school. The narrator
effectively shows the protagonists view of the social hierarchy as based on popularity, experience and
associated power through descriptive language. To indicate the protagonists perception of this

  • 2. A Company s Decision For Buy Navigation And Mapping Software This scenario focuses on a company s decision to buy navigation and mapping software. The manager of the company approaches their IT manager, Patrick, who is supposed to recommend the best software. Although, Patrick does not commit any illegal offences, he shows through a number of actions that he violates professional ethics. R Bradburn states that business ethics... is an oxymoron suggesting that the idea of business can never coincide with ethics because business in itself is too interested in expansion and selfish motives. All IT professionals should meet the criteria of the British Computer Society Code of Conduct. The BCS Code of Conduct states an employee should take into account Public Interests, Professional Competence and Integrity, Duty to Relevant Authority and Duty to the Profession. The BCS Code of Conduct seems to be based on Deontological Ethics as it states that it is an employee s duty to fulfil these guidelines. Firstly, an interest in the effect on the public is vital to the maintenance of ethics throughout a company. In a sense, a company cannot function properly without the support of the public. Whereas, Professional Competence and Integrity indicates that an employee should try to gain as much knowledge as possible to influence growth and improvement. This also indicates that those seeking improvement within a company should encourage other employees to do the same. The BCS section, Duty to Relevant Authority states that an employee ... She realized that she had to help this stranger because she had the ability to do so. The woman refused to leave a stranger (Jai) until his journey was secured and then she refused Jai s offer of payment for her kindness and generosity. This deed was done based on her obvious personal ethical values which proved to be moral. The stakeholders are anyone who was affected by the decisions that were made, in this case Jai and his companion were the extreme stake holders and consequently it trickled down to a shepherd woman and eventually several others. Jai was affected most since all the decisions made affected him directly throughout the story. The shepherd woman, the village officials, and the physician were also affected and therefore can be considered stakeholders. The assumptions of Jai and his companion were that since they were both healthy and experienced at climbing despite their youth, when the 1 p.m. turn around time came, the decision to press on had been easy to make, which was to continue on since the prospects of doing it another day held little appeal to both men. Due to a shift in power from the weakening Emperor Yoshihito, Japanese culture encouraged artists to further express their own styles and thoughts on Western culture and which strengthened a sense of individuality and increasing departure from traditional private Japanese customs. The following Shōwa movement only further increased this individualism. Despite this vibrant cultural merging of expression that inspired most art during this period, some artists continued to keep art to its traditional roots simplicity. Two examples of this are found at the Philadelphia Museum of Art; Rabbit Gazing at the Moon by Ōta Ryōhei and Sketch of a Rabbit by Takeuchi Seihö. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inspired by a Chinese legend, there is a hare living on the moon that concocts the elixir of immortality. Though carved from wood, the beautiful curvaceous figure flows as if it were an actual rabbit, each angle carefully simplified. The rabbit seems to rest on the surface, it s gaze turned upward, almost proud. Similar to ancient Sumi paintings, this Japanese Sculpture exemplifies simplicity, including only the essence of each figure whether mountain landscapes, flora, or furry mammals. Painted by Takeuchi Seihö in 1920, Sketch of a Rabbit shows the skill of this Japanese artist in simplifying the shapes of animals, yet keeping the essence of each shape. Each stroke is fundamental for the shape of the rabbit, and no curve is wasted. Despite so few strokes and little shading, one can still sense the realistic plumpness of the rabbit due to the foreshortening of its body. The background places utmost importance on its subject as well, remaining blank and empty to keep the Rabbit the main focal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Situational Analysis of Esl Student CONTEXT Katie, aged 15, is a highly motivated student from a family with a strong educational background, currently living and studying in a British style International School in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam, and is a member of the increasing group of globally mobile students. Katie can be solidly placed into the entering phrase of the transition from Taiwanese national to immigrant in a Western society, where she has decided to become part of the new community, but is still figuring out what that means (Hayden 2006:53) at the age of thirteen. She is an example of what has recently been identified as a common occurrence for international school students, children going through a sojourner adjustment (McKillop Ostrom 2000), as can ... The key research question for this case study is, What are the specific language based and affective patterns that identify this child, and can they be described in an inter related fashion? My hypothesis is that such thick description (Geertz 1994) can be reached through two different but complementary aspects of second language acquisition theory by integrating the discussion along these lines: Learner language analysis. Features and patterns are identified through a close analysis of Katie s output: written and oral. This is matched to SLA theory, and gaps between the target and achieved language will be identified. • 6. Homework Is Too Much Homework Starting in Preschool, students experience the responsibility of completing homework. Whether a student is memorizing the alphabet, completing multiplication worksheets, writing poems and essays, or completing pre calculus problems, homework consumes much of their time. As time progress homework is becoming more of a burden to students. As children become older and life becomes more hectic, they cannot find enough hours in a day to correctly and fully complete their homework. Because of this, students can possibly fall behind in school and homework quickly becomes useless. Students of all ages are assigned too much homework. Homework consumes too much of a student s like and leaves no time for the more important aspects of life. In the article Too Much Homework written by Professor Carol Huntsinger, which gives insights from a book called The End of Homework: How Homework Disrupts Families, Overburdens Children and Limits Learning , written by Etta Kralovec and John Buell, explains that a student s busy schedule along with immense amounts of homework takes away from the most important parts of life. In this article, Huntsinger explains how a student named Josh Preston has a full high school course load, attends meetings, participates in school activities, and also attends three hour swim practices in the evening. Many reports are suggesting that the current housing bubble is greater than the one that formed in 2006 and burst in 2008. But is there any truth to these dire predictions, or is it just media hype and speculation? Overvalued Homes Don t Equal an Impending Crash Compared to the first three months of 2015, twice as many metropolitan home markets are now considered overvalued. At $236,000, the average sales price of a home in the United States is now above what it was in 2006. Prices in 14 of the 100 largest metropolitan markets in the country are now above their historical averages. Look a little deeper, however, and there are reasonable explanations for the spike in prices. Of the 14 metropolitan markets mentioned above, six are in Texas, which recently experienced a huge oil boom. Texas may serve as a microcosm for what s happening in the rest of the country. High Demand, Low Supply The most fundamental principle in economics is supply and demand. It just so happens that this very simple economic truth is the cause of the so called bubble; housing demand across the country is high, and supply is near record lows. Ten years ago, the bubble was caused by free, easy credit that led many people to take out mortgages they couldn t afford. This isn t the case today not at all. Recent mortgage regulations are now beginning to take effect, and lenders and borrowers are more informed and acting more responsibly. The Verdict? This interest groups plead to their Senators and House reps, which takes longer to have the president s policies in place by law. They can also sabotage a president s agenda by leaking unauthorized information. This reduces the president s credibility and forces people to think about the effect of the new information on the policies. But, when she is rejected by Vronsky, something inside her fundamentally changes. Kitty observes Anna s dance with Vronsky, and the feeling that she will never truly come to understand everything in the way Anna does hits her hard. In comparison to Anna, Kitty is unquestionably a child, and this comes with two thoughts: first, the thought that she is the inferior woman, and second, the realization that she is too inexperienced to be making decisions about such important matters as marriage. She becomes further overwhelmed by the weight of choosing a spouse as it becomes clear to her that her thought that Vronsky ever loved her was completely wrong. As Kitty observes Vronsky and Anna s dance, it hits her that Vronsky has never loved her in the first place. She sees that Anna was drunk with the wine of the rapture she inspired (81) in Vronsky. • 17. Theme Of Symbolism In A Prayer For Owen Meany Owen s Armless Figures Several themes can be found within the pages of A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving; however, a more prominent theme that moves the story along is that of symbolism. For Owen Meany, he seems to be obsessed with armless figures all his life from Tabby s dressmaker, to the armadillo, and finally, Mary Magdalene. Readers cannot help but to try to correlate all these images into a bigger picture. The Watahantowet totem became the first of Owen s many fascinations with armless figures at a young age . The totem is of a Sagamore Indian chief who sold his tribe s lands to European settlers. The totem does not have hands because the indian chief had no choice but to sell his lands, in a sense his hands were tied. A major part of Owen s childhood seems to be Tabby s dressmaker. As the readers know, Owen was close to John s mother and her dressmaker was a nearly perfect copy of her body, making it a comforting object for Owen, especially after her death. As young children John and Owen used to dress the dummy, but for Owen this seems to be more than just a childhood game. In fact, after Tabby dies, Owen takes the dummy from Dan s apartment and takes it home with him. This object serves as a significant object in Owen s life because one night while spending the night at 80 Front Street, Owen was feeling ill and he went into Tabby s room. He saw the dressmaker in the dark and believed it to be the Angel of Death come to take Tabby away and he scared it off when he walked in. After this, he believed that it was his destiny to be the one to kill Tabby because he had interrupted the angel, explaining why he felt little remorse when he killed her. Another symbol without arms was the armadillo, who at first had claws. The armadillo symbolises the friendship John and Owen had and the loss of innocence they felt when Tabby died. After Tabatha had died, John let Owen take the armadillo home in an effort to comfort him. When Owen brought the stuffed animal back its legs and claws had been removed. At first this seems like an odd occurrence that will never be explained, but later the audience puts the puzzle pieces together and discover that Owen was trying to show John how God has made him his ... The juvenile court was originally created to help rehabilitate children who commit crimes such as stealing. Now the juvenile court can be seen harboring criminal who were well aware of the vicious acts he or she have done such as a murderer. Statistics show that, crimes committed by juveniles have increased by 60 percent since 1984 (Collier 1). The rapid increase of crimes that occur shows how the system in place is not effective in the prevention of crimes. Government statistics show that, Since 1965, the number of ... • 29. Culture Of Kuwait Culture Kuwait Culture The term culture is one of those words that we use routinely, but what is it exactly? Basically, culture is the multipart overall of a society which includes everything that gives a society an identity. Culture may consist of customs, languages, and religion beliefs amid other characteristics that are ordinary to people of a nation/region. What is predominantly interesting about cultures is that each culture, no matter where it is located, shares at least five basic characteristics. However, every culture has its own distinct characteristics that differentiate it from the others. One of such cultures is the Kuwait culture. This culture awareness essay will attempt to emphasis on cultural aspects of the people of Kuwait while drawing your attention to the social culture annalists of Kuwait nation/region s physical geography, weather analysts, current and passed military conflicts and its impact on the society, and their civil concern. The Kuwaiti culture is dominant in Kuwait where the people originate. They were primary drawn to the Kuwait Bay region because of the resources from the sea, and majority of the population still lives within a short distance of the first coastal colonies. • 30. Bowlby And Attachment Theory And The Theory Of The... It was this Maternal Deprivation Hypothesis (1953; 1969) that sought to bring Bowlby and attachment theory its strongest criticism (Rutter 1981; Clarke Clarke 1998) The theory that if a child is deprived of its mother, or mother substitute at a key point (approx. 6 months to 3 years) for work purposes, or even for the purpose of hospitalisation, the child s social and cognitive development would suffer as a result. The critiques have gone from levelling criticism, to the Hypothesis itself being largely discredited (Smith et al 2011) Importantly, regardless of whether or not the theory was believed, it is known to have had a profound effect on a generation of mothers. A corporate brand is a product of an organization s corporate strategy, mission, image, and activities. Corporate brands distinguish organizations from their competitors, orient the organization in the minds of customers and employees, and create a perception of what an organization stands for (Matrix AMC, 2014) CCC will need to establish an organizational branding standard that makes a statement to potential clients of the high standards that they bring to the business. Recruiting/Screening/Selecting CCC can begin the recruiting process by posting internally within the organization, offering positioned to be available in Arizona to the current staff in Michigan. Recruitment would then turn to external candidates; postings can be made in local newspapers, job fair participation and the use of temporary worker agencies. Screening should include drug testing, background checks for any criminal activity that might preclude a candidate from employment with CCC. Additionally a financial background check is covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which requires third party investigators to secure the applicants written consent prior to doing a background check (Cascio, 2013). Horse slaughter is more of an implicit subject, which your everyday person doesn t know much about. Because it is highly controversial, it has gone through the cycle of being banded and then reinstated twice in the last 5 years. With being involved in the horse industry my entire life, I have witnessed the effects first hand. Some people see it as killing pets, animal cruelty, and morally wrong. However, I see it as a source of income, a way to stop the starvation and abuse of horses, an export industry for the United States, as well as a quality meal for in times of despair. The history of people eating horse meat dates back to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the 1930 s low supply and high cost of pork and beef made horse meat rise in popularity. Again during World War II, people were again in the same predicament. Inflation during the early 1970 s raised the cost of traditional meats; Time Magazine reported from Carlson s, a butcher shop in Westbrook, CT, that they were selling over 6,000 pounds of horse meat a day. (Weil) In 2006, the House of Representatives voted to end horse slaughter; the bill passed to make the killing and selling American horses for human consumption an illegal practice in the United States. Today in the US, people do not consume horse meat on a whole sale basis. But because many other counties do, the exporting of horse meat is a huge industry. When the ban was in place, US horses were being transported to Canada and Mexico to be slaughtered instead. From 2006 to 2010 the increase in horses being exported to Canada and Mexico was 148 and 660 percent. They are loaded up on trailers and shipped across the boarders, often times going days without food or water until they reach their destination. The Importance Of Uplink Over Utilization Protection Uplink over utilization protection It s important to establish thresholds when looking at both short and long term utilization and growth of the network infrastructure. Doing so eliminates guesswork and provides a clear understanding of when additional resources should be required. Specifically speaking, a threshold is normally based on percentage of usage (in comparison to the maximum available bandwidth). Example; 50% of 100 Mbps translate to 50 Mbps of overall usage. When establishing a percentage threshold, it s important to consider things like margin of safety and historic growth rates . In the case of margin of safety , the threshold number should be high enough to alert that more bandwidth will be needed, but low enough to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One other thing to note regarding bandwidth, the difference between 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps is capacity, not speed of operation. A 100 Mbps Ethernet connection is capable of passing 100 megabits of data in a one second period. In comparison a 1 Gbps is capable of passing 1 gigabit of data in a one second period. The actual speed of the data is the same, it s just capable of passing more data in a one second period. (Think of 100 Mbps connection as a single lane road with a 1 Gbps connection as a multi lane highway with the speed limit of both roads being 55 Mph). I propose that a new academy be constructed in the city with the purpose of teaching these skills to citizens from across Europe. The main concern for this academy is the curriculum. First of all, there should be an emphasis on Humanism, because it s a belief system growing in popularity that has been advancing the arts so far and has been restoring Roman design elements in all mediums of art, most notably observable in architecture and perspective. Next, I should specify the materials that will be taught. There will be a focus in architecture, painting, metalworking, ceramics and sculpture. There will also be a language requirement, calling for students to learn classical Latin and Greek while at the Academies, allowing for them to read original Roman and Greek texts. This will allow them to draw inspiration for their work. As someone who learned the secrets of Architecture by studying Ancient Roman structures and texts, I can attest to their ingenuity and knowledge, some of which, remains undiscovered. • 43. Analysis Of Anna Deavere Smith s Fires In The Mirror My sense is that American character lives not in one place or the other, but in the gaps between the places, and in our struggle to be together in our differences, (Anna Deavere Smith). Anna Deavere Smith in her play, Fires in the Mirror, takes two different cultural communities and interviews their standpoint of the conflict at hand. The underlying racism present in this community is soon brewed into a pandemonium once the death of both a Black and Jewish individual take place. Fires in the Mirror is a social drama that presents a breach as several Jewish males accidentally kill a young Black boy in a car accident. Due to this incident, it causes a crisis within the community as a Jewish man is later murdered by Black males to pursue revenge for the cause of this breach. With a social drama following the guideline to find a redressive action to limit the spread of the breach, Smith in her interviews portrays that this community fails to do so. Because of this, the reintegration becomes an irreparable breach between the two. Consequently, due to the social clash between the Black and Jewish communities, the city of Crown Heights becomes socially segregated. Individuals interviewed in this play are heavily indulged in looking at what segregates them from one another that it leads to individuals pointing fault or playing victim, which inevitably will never lead to a resolution to this social crisis. Individuals that have been interviewed have focused their energy on what segregates themselves from one another that it restrains them from foreseeing a solution to the social crisis among their community. A major conflict brought up throughout multiple interviews was the scene where the accident happened. Multiple interviews have their own perspective of the situation as well as their opinion about the different ambulances that arrives in the scene.Rabbi Joseph Speilman in No Blood in His Feet explains, The Jewish community has a volunteer ambulance corps which is funded totally from the nations...The EMS responded with three ambulances on the scene.
