The Raegan Administration as Having Altered the American...
The Raegan Administration as Having Altered the American Political Agenda To understand why the
Reagan presidency was so unique first one must understand transformation of the presidency. The post
1932 modern presidency differs from the modern presidency in three ways unique ways. The first
reason is that the modern president have grown stronger, and thus expanded and developed
independence to create policy. The second reason is that the president s role in shaping the annual
legislative agenda and influencing congress has been institutionalised. The third reason is that in the
modern presidency, there has been a large expansion in official presidential staff. In 1937 President

Reagan was much liked because he offered a broad appeal, he shared the notions of people such as
Goldwater but Reagan would be much liked. One thing the American public hates is an out spoken
candidate, and that s what people such as Goldwater was, so Reagan was the ideal candidate.
Goldwater was the extreme right of the Republican Party, Goldwater often criticised the policies of
Dwight Eisenhower. He described his social policies as dime store New Deal and strongly opposed the
president s decisions to use federal troops at little rock. Goldwater also believed that Eisenhower was
too soft on trade unions and complained about his failure o balance the budget. Reagan had an
attractive personality and also had a good style as a political performer, this made Reagan a strong
candidate, his notions and his ideology made him a candidate who might be able to represent
conservative views, and more importantly be electable. Many candidates with strong political views,
sometimes forget their political position once they are elected into office. However Reagan made it his
goal to be true to his conservative principles, which he had been compiling

The Museum s Main Purpose Essay
The museum s main purpose is not only to educate the public about American Indians, but also to
deconstruct stereotypes and give tribal members something along the lines of a safe place where they
are welcome to embrace their ethnicity. One factor that showcases the information I previously stated
is the fact that tribal members have free admission into the museum. Another way the museum salutes
the ethnicity of American Indians is by commemorating Native individuals alive today. Names of
famous Native Americans are displayed along with their contributions to the ethnic group. One of the
people displayed is Sarah Deer, who is a professor and lawyer that fought for Tribal Jurisdiction. Upon
arrival, I was informed that the museum is divided by Tribe and the regions in which each tribe was
located. The museum is divided into Alaska/Canada, Northwest Coast, Southwest, Plains, and
Woodlands. The reason I think it is divided this way is so that every person who visits has the ability
to learn about each region of tribes separately. It is easy to make assumptions that Native Americans
were all the same, but the truth is that they are all unique. Each tribe has their own customs, clothing,
food, and ways of life. The Alaska/Canada region includes tribes like the Athapaskan, Inuit, Cree,
Chipewyan, Ojibwe, Naskapi, and the Montagnais. Because these tribes had to deal with an extremely
harsh environment, they adapted by utilizing animals and tools to help them survive. Their

Chronic Pain Case Study Essay
Chronic pain is often concurrent with depression and many agents used for the treatment of depression
are CYP2D6 inhibitors which interfere with the metabolism and pharmacological action of tramadol, a
common agent used in the treatment of moderate to severe pain. The case reported is proposes caution
should be taken in initiating or titrating tramadol in patients currently taking medications with strong
CYP2D6 inhibition properties, especially in combination with other serotonergic agents. A 70 year old
female presented with signs and symptoms of mild serotonin toxicity resulting from an increased
tramadol dose in concurrence with bupropion and sertraline therapy. The offending agents, tramadol
and bupropion, were discontinued eliminating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will decrease the potential for serotonin toxicity in this patient population. Medication
reconciliation should be extensively performed on patients with comorbid depression and chronic pain
to potentially identify high risk patients taking tramadol with bupropion or other strong CYP2D6
inhibitors. Specific attention should be directed to how the patient is actually taking each medication,
along with the subjective level of pain relief the patient is experiencing. This will help with
identification of potential drug interactions and prompt more specific attention to any signs and
symptoms of serotonin toxicity. Tramadol is a commonly prescribed partial μ opioid receptor agonist
analgesic available as a racemic mixture of positive and negative enantiomers. It is used frequently in
patients with chronic pain, whom often times have an underlying depression with an estimated
prevalence of 35%. With the DEA rescheduling all hydrocodone combination products to schedule II

Why Did The Diprotodon Become Extinct
Introduction
Megafauna simply means big animals and is a term mostly used to describe a particular group of large
land animals which evolved millions of years after the dinosaurs became extinct. These animals
generally have a body mass which is greater than 40 kilograms.
Diptrotodon
The Diprotodon was the largest and the best known of the megafauna.
The Diprotodon co existed with humans for thousands of years before becoming extinct some 25,000
years ago. It was also the last megafauna to become extinct.
They were widely spread throughout Australia, including the Darling Downs in Queensland,
Wellington Caves in New South Wales. Naracoorte Caves in South Australia and Bacchus Marsh in
Victoria, just to name a few.
It is unlikely that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Appearance
The Procoptodon was a huge kangaroo which grew up to 2 metres in height and weighed up to 200
kilograms.
The Procoptodon had a short, flat face and forward facing eyes and an upright posture.
The lower jaw was big and a chin was developed. It had small incisors on the upper and lower jaws
for nipping the vegetation.
It had long and mobile forelimbs with the two middle fingers having long, recurved claws enabling
them to be used like a hook to grasp leafy branches.
It had a single toe on its feet which had a hoof like claw on the end of it. This may have helped give
the Procoptodon a greater measure of speed. It is believed that the number 2, 3 and 5 toe bones were
so reduced that they were lost and the well developed number 4 toe formed into a single toe.
Habitat
Procoptodon were mainly in arid or semi arid regions on New South Wales and South Australia. Many
areas were harsh environments being treeless, wind blown sand dunes. Having been found in The
Lake Menindee area in western New South Wales, it was a somewhat cooler and wetter climate than
what it is today. The surrounding areas had forests, woodland, savannah and plains with windblown
sand dunes on the edges of the lake. Procoptodon have been found in caves in the Nullarbor Plain in a
dry open environment with hard leaved

The Impact Of Steve Jobs On The World Of Technology Today
Our world of technology today is what the world is run by. Technology is much different than what it
was thirty years ago. We would not have the technology we have today if it weren t for Steve Jobs. We
wouldn t have any of the Apple products that half of America uses if it weren t for Steve Jobs work.
Steve Jobs was a very intelligent person. He created many of ideas and objects. Some people would
consider him a god to the technology world because of everything he created. Steve Jobs was born in
San Francisco, California on February 24, 1955 Steve Jobs was an orphan until Paul and Clara Jobs
adopted Steve when he was a kid. When Steve was growing up he was surrounded by engineers. In his
neighborhood everyone around him were engineers. When he was thirteen years old he met one of the
most important people in his life. That person s name was Stephen Wozniak a wiz kid from the area.
Steve attended Homestead High School. When Steve was in high school he and Stephen Wozniak
pulled many pranks. One incident was they put a middle finger statue on one of the buildings in the
high school. Chris Ann Brennan was his high school sweetheart. When Jobs was eighteen years old he
was getting near his college days and he told his parents he wanted to go to Reed College. It was a
very expensive college located in Oregon. Steve Jobs parents promised him a college education no

Emergency Evacuation
When in a state of a natural disaster the victims affected often looked for federal government
assistance. This belief of receiving assistance from the National government also applied to the local
government and how the they began to rely on funding and assistance. The central failure between
state and local governments was receiving a false sense of security, relying on Washington rather than
preparing proper emergency responses themselves. Johnny B Bradeberry, secretary of Louisiana
Deartment of Transportation, signed an agreement committing to Mobilize transportation to support
emergency evacuation for at risk population (NY Times pg 1). As a result of poor leadership,
Bradberry admitted to investigators that he did not honor this agreement, costing the lives ... Show

Should Girls Be Allowed To Play On Boy Sports
What if girls were able to play on boy sports teams? This question may cause people to be irate.
Others might be overjoyed. A majority of people would say girls being on a boys sports team is
preposterous, but they do not see the plus side of girls being on boy teams. Other people would
consider girls being on boy sports teams a way to end discrimination against genders. Because many
schools have a limited amount of activities girls can participate in, and girls can be just as competitive
as boys, girls should be allowed to go out for boys sports. The first reason why girls should be allowed
to join boys sports is because all girls that participate in boy sports would be taught to have a better

Girls are often times not always pushed to their full potential, if they worked with boys and trained
with boys their standards would be set a little higher to achieve more. With having higher physical
expectations girls would easily get stronger and the risk of injuries and accidents could lessen. Though
girls tend to be smaller and less muscular than boys, there is no evidence that they are more prone to
injury than the boys playing on their teams (Satterfield). This shows that women do not have a higher
tendency to get in an accident than boys do. Mental ability is also just as important as physical ability
in sports. If boys on a sports team always think negative girls could help embrace positive thinking or
vice versa. With having a positive attitude towards the game, match, or meet the team and teammates
will experience improvement and better intention to do well at the sport they play. Not only will
having a positive attitude and higher physical standards benefit a person in sports, but can contribute

Drinking In College Essay
The graduating Class of 2015 quickly learned that college really is the best time of our lives; but with
great power, comes great responsibility. Drinking at a frat party sounds like a lot of fun until you wake
up at 6 in the morning at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. While many students drink, not many know
the health and personal risks that come making the decision to consume alcohol.
According to the Science Inside Alcohol Project, a study funded by the National Institute on Alcohol
Abuse and Alcoholism, people who consume too much alcohol pass out when the large amount of
alcohol overwhelms the Reticular Activating System. This is the system that decides when one is
conscious or not. Because alcohol is a depressant, it depresses the central nervous system. Passing out
is the body s attempt to preserve its energy to keep performing the basic bodily functions that keep
people alive, such as maintaining heartbeat and breathing.
Psychological effects of excessive alcohol consumption include greater likelihood of committing
suicide and contracting hepatic encephalopathy. Hepatic encephalopathy is a worsening of brain
function that occurs when the liver is no longer able to remove toxic substances in the blood (Tracy,
2012). If this occurs, one could experience differences in personality, overall mood, issues with
coordination, and decrease in function of longterm memory and attentions spans. Other psychological
effects of excessive alcohol exposure may include panic

Milton and their employer John Thornton come to a head in Chapter 22 A Blow and its Consequences

and the novel s principal character Margaret Hale. In the novel, Gaskell parallels the conflict between
Thornton and his workers with the conflict between Thornton and Margaret. Both relationships erupt
in this chapter leading to consequences throughout the rest of the novel. Gaskell establishes the

Ethical Behavior Is Important For The Welfare Of Society

The stakeholder approach is intended to provide a flexible way for managers to match these interests.
This approach helps management anticipate future elements and develop plans to combat any
problems that might occur. Stakeholders are also concerned with the survival of their company. So for
a company to be successful, stakeholders must implement a course of action that positively affects
themselves and their community.
Werther mentions that the stakeholder approach enables firms to respond to the dominant trends in
society today globalization, rapidly evolving communication technologies, and ever increasing
expectations of social goals beyond profit maximization (Werther, 2011, p.34.). Here he explains the
importance of generating profits but also explains the benefits that come from maximizing a company

Another author calls attention to the importance of investing in the relationships with those who have
a stake in the firm. The stability of these relationships depends on the sharing of core principles and
values. This approach allows management to incorporate their personal values into the implementation
of strategic plans. Schendel describes this relationship by answering the question What do we stand

What Are The Benefits Of African American Studies
There are multiple factors that differentiate the history and experience of African Americans from
those of Asian, Hispanic and Native Americans. First African Americans were involuntary immigrated
to the United States by traders looking to exploit them as a commodity to promote slavery. Unlike
African Americans most ethnic groups immigrated here voluntary for economic and political freedom.
Also while some of these groups were discriminated against their was a intensive effort to erase
African culture from the minds of African Americans. Forcing them to abandon their language,
history, culture and ancestral ties, to the europeans they were nothing, but a piece of property. Then
after their past had been striped from them, African Americans were contintually taken advantage by
whites to stay above them and not allow them to move up society. Even social reform that occurred
before, during and after the Civil Rights movement still haven t allowed for significant changes. This
coordinated effort has created a lingering legacy that has negatively affected the psyche and social
orientation of many African Americans. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Movement Of Fight For Urban Land Reform
The Movimento de Luta nos Bairros, Vilas e Favelas MLB (Movement of Fight in Communities, Vilas
and Favelas, loosely translated), is a Brazilian social movement that fights for urban land reform and
for the human right of decent living conditions. Thousands of families throughout the whole country
make up the movement, most of them victims of the land and propriety speculation predatory action.
They are gathered in a way much alike what Sidney Tarrow described as a social movement, having a
set up of collective challenges by people with common purposes and solidarity in sustained interaction
with elites, opponents and authorities (Tarrow, 1998).
Successive governments in Brazilian history have been ruling the county solely for the rich. During
the last centuries most part of governmental assistance was directed to owners of big industries, great
landowners and, more recently, bankers and financial speculators, and despite Brazil being rich in
natural resources, the majority of Brazilian society is poor and 11% of the population still lives under
the poverty line (Databank.worldbank.org, 2011). Nowadays, more than 7 million families are denied
access to decent housing and about half of the population is not served with basic sanitation.
According to the UN, by 2020, 55 million people will be living in favelas in Brazil (UN, 2012).
MLB then proposes the urban land reform as a way to tackle this issue, an instrument part of a bigger

The Republic By Socrates
In Book VII of the Republic, Socrates sets forth the idea that a real astronomer would not be
concerned with the motions of the stars. This comes at a time in the dialogue being played out in the
Republic in which the education of the guardians (especially those who will be the philosopher kings)
is in question. The foundational elements of this education have already been discussed, these being
the subjects of music and poetry and rigorous physical training. However, the question remains what
other subjects should be added to the education process of the guardians to make them fit rulers of the
just city. As Socrates has mentioned earlier in Book VI, he believes that it is philosophers that are most
fit to rule, so the guardians of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socrates takes issue with the manner in which it is currently studied in his time, claiming that those
engaged in the subject gain no knowledge because they deal with things they can see, that is, the
motions of the stars. He then makes the claim expressed in the quote above, that real astronomers
(those concerned with truth and understanding) would not concern themselves with these stellar
motions. This idea ties into the desired essence of the guardians education, as the subjects that are to
be added should stimulate thought and the search for understanding. The purpose of this study is to
prepare the potential rulers for what Socrates calls dialectic, which is essentially pure exploration of
thought and reason in the quest for understanding that which is (i.e. the Forms). A parallel to this idea
that also makes it quite provocative is the nature of modern astronomy, which often concerns itself
with the motions of stars, although in a different, more diverse, and more advanced way than in
Socrates time. However, modern astronomy also deals with problems as Socrates suggests, as the men
and women at the forefront of the field are always trying to uncover the truth about not only the way
celestial bodies move and interact with one another, but also how they fit into the grand

Social stereotypes and happiness
The story of the movie The Pursuit of Happyness directed by Gabriele Muccino portrays a family who
struggles with finding enough money to pay taxes and afford living expenses. The movie takes a place
in San Francisco during the 80s. The two main characters are the father Chris Gardner and his son

In another perspective, fatherhood for Gardner is like a job for him. Because he loses his wife, he
needs to provide joy, fun and help for his son Christopher which is not an easy job to do. Those
fathers, who spend more time with their children, have a better life than others who spend most of
their time working and gaining money. However, being a father as a single parent like Chris gives him
the enthusiasm to do his best and replace his wife s role to have a better life with his son. Yet, this
decreases the happiness that Gardner possesses. According to Scott Coltrane, a sociologist at the
University of California, points out that Father s style of parenting has changed too. Fathers are
beginning to look more like mothers (qtd. in Cullen and Grossman). Before Linda leaves the family,
she works double shifts to make more money to afford the living expenses and to help her husband. So
Chris is the one who takes more care of their son than the mother, Linda. Gardner seems to be happier
being close to his son. There are many scenes in the movie that show how Gardner and Christopher
are happy of being together. Nonetheless, there is only one scene that Christopher not even misses his
mother; instead he asks did mom leave because of me? (The Pursuit of Happyness). This indicates that
Gardner does a great job of being a single parent that makes his son, not remembering his mother. For
fathers, home

Argumentative Essay On Woolly Mammoth
100,000 years ago, the woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenus) roamed the Earth. The woolly
mammoth is one of the most studied megafauna of the Pleistocene epoch, which spanned from 2.6
million to 11,700 years ago. Most populations of it died out around 10,000 years ago [4], although a
small population survived until around 3.7 thousand years ago on Wrangel Island [6].
The woolly mammoth was one of the many now extinct megafauna that existed during the
Pleistocene. Others include the cave lion (Panthera spelaea) and the ground sloth (Megalonyx
jeffersonii). The end Pleistocene extinction event observed the extinction of many of these megafauna,
particularly in North America and Eurasia. By 10,000 years ago, approximately 97 megafauna which

Although a cause for the end Pleistocene extinction has yet to be agreed upon, I will be discussing and
evaluating the four most debated theories. These are the overkill hypothesis, the climatic hypothesis,
hyperdisease, and the Younger Dryas impact hypothesis.
The overkill hypothesis is the argument that the humans caused the end Pleistocene megafaunal
extinction, through over hunting.
This hypothesis could explain why megafauna in particular faced extinction during the Quaternary
extinction event, as humans assumedly chose larger mammals to hunt as they provided more food.
The climatic hypothesis suggests that the end Pleistocene extinction of megafauna was a result of
major climatic changes occurring at the end of the Pleistocene.
The timing of the last glacial interval is appropriate for the climatic hypothesis, as the last glacial
interval ended in many places, including North America, between 12,000 and 10,000 years ago. [7].
Similarly, many extinctions occurred in North America around this time, such as that of the American
cave lion (Panthera leo atrox) and the Yukon horse (Equus

Zatoichi (27 films, 1962 2003)
This particular title became globally known to the public through Takeshi Kitano s 2003 movie, The
Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi . However, that was just the tip of the iceberg. Before Kitano s movie,
there have been 26 more.
Let us take things from the beginning though. Our hero s first appearance was in a small story by Kan
Shimozawa, titled Zatoichi, although the concept, as a whole, was based on a secondary character of
this story, a blind gambler. He could guess what the dice would bring almost every time. According to
the Library of Congress, the story was included in a book titled Futokoro Techo, which was first
published in Japan by Chuo Koronsha in 1961.
The idea to write a Zatoichi movie came from Shintaro Katsu, who came to be the man behind the
hero, since he was the leading actor in all of the initial 26 movies (and director in the last) and also in
the TV series. The production company that took on the project was Daiei Studios.
The films were set during the Tokugawa era, where, except for some samurai that were under
government service, the rest of the samurai were forbidden to carry any weapon. It was the reason
Zatoichi carries his sword disguised as a cane, a rather popular weapon at that time, named

Methods Of The Ten Commandments
When people think about God, they oftentimes think about the ten commandments. Humans think
of/use the ten commandments as a way that will guarantee them a seat in heaven once their time
comes. The ten commandments were first written in the Hebrew Scriptures. Hebrew Scriptures were
used as Israel s witness to its encounter with God and developed over time by several authors
(Konigsburg). In Exodus 20:1 21, The Ten Commandments contain Gods words of how humans
should live their lives in order to live a nice, peaceful life. Information about the most important
commandment can be found in Mark 12:28 34. Utilizing the different Hermeneutic methods allows
readers to understand the biblical readings (Konigsburg). Some hermeneutic methods include the
historical/critical method, socio cultural method, and literary method. Each method is used to show
different things about the readings. Mark12:28 34 is an important scripture because it contains
important and vital information about history, society, and how people should live their lives.
To provide some background information, in the Christian scriptures, the four Gospels, Matthew,
Mark Luke, and John are presented. The four Gospels all contain the words and actions of Jesus,
which is why they are considered the central part of the bible. The four Gospels serve as theological
witnesses for Christ events and are different because of the various translations (perspective and
concerns) the different communities had for them. The

Sadat And Carter Essay
Carter firmly believed in self determination for all people. Carter wished for the United States to take
lead of law in global undertakings.Additionally, he needed the United States to lead the pack in

trusted that American relations with the Soviet Union would proceed to enhance and that the two
countries could come to monetary and arms control understandings that would unwind Cold War

The river discharge method or water balance approach is generally used for estimating AET of large

Generally, meteorological stations are placed only at the urban areas and their follow up is uncertain.
In some cases, we need to estimate Evapotranspiration for planning in the large scale; it is rather
difficult to classify land use for individual calculation in each land use. Therefore water balance is
more suitable to understand the flux in a whole sub basin. The inflow and outflows are determined
from stream flow and precipitation measurements and the difference between inflow and outflow over

Essay On Guidance Changes
Does Title IX Need Changed? An argument has emerged in the United States regarding the title IX
guidance changes of 2011. In 2011 the Obama administration changed some guidelines about sexual
assault in title IX. These changes would include many changes that colleges would have to make to
comply with the new title IX rules and regulations. Since 2011 there has been questions regarding if
the changes were doing what they were made to do, which was to further protect each party. Some
people believe that the changes of 2011 have worked well and need to stay. On the other hand, some
people claim that there are some major problems with the regulations and need to be rewritten. The

On the other hand, some think that any evidence at all is enough to prove someone guilty of a sexual
assault. With schools increase in responsibility it is thought to be a reason why people are not
receiving a universities full attention and fail to receive a full fair trial. University s claim that every
case they investigate is to their best of their ability but the accused and even the victims have reported
what they thought of as a failure of a fair trial. Some statements also show that people seem to think
that students that are involved with a University sports team is treated differently than a normal
student. Also, reports seem to show a favor to female genders and discriminate males that are involved
in an investigation. One of the most debated topics of the 2011 changes to title IX is the differences
between a school trial and a criminal trial. Some people claim that schools sometimes fail or rush to
hand over any investigations over to the authorities. When a case is changed into a criminal trial often
noted is that the trial is much longer than a school trial and the accuser is sometimes harder to prove
that they are guilty. Much of the argument on this topic is when does the school stop and where does a
criminal trial take place? Some people believe that the schools should reserve the right to decide when

Who Is Blanche s Delusions In A Streetcar Named Desire
Blanche Dubois, A Portrayal of Her Delusional Reality Most people can think of a dream of what they
want to do in their lives. It is common for people to dream of their perfect life. For some it s being the
next big star on a television show or the person that cures cancer. These dreams are what motivate
people, and throughout A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche Dubois portrayed herself as a very pure
woman whom, like many, failed to achieve her dreams. Because of this, she was haunted by her
failures. From Blanche s devastating past, her heart broke, and she needed an escape. She attempted to
fill the emptiness in her heart with delusions in her head. To begin, Blanche had a broken heart for a
few reasons that are depicted in A Streetcar Named ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One main way to understand Blanche s delusion would be the themes throughout the play
demonstrated through the names of certain key aspects of their world. The first introduced example of
this would be the streetcar named Desire. Desire was the reason Blanche moved to Stella s home and
ironically, the way she arrived. Desire was consistently alluded to throughout the play. Blanche s past
was full of desire, but her time at the Kowalski s was presented with desire as well. From Mitch to
Stanley, to Blanche living the extravagant lifestyle that she retained, Blanche desired a life that she did
not have access to. After she ruined her reputation with sexual encounters and the epic fornications of
her family to lose Belle Reve, Blanche had no where to turn. Belle Reve was another large theme
throughout the play. Belle Reve or beautiful dream was where Blanche and Stella were raised. Stella
was able to move on and marry Stanley. Blanche, after her husband s death, wasn t able to cope and
depended on her family at Belle Reve. The beautiful dream became Blanche s escape. George Hovis
presented a counter argument to what Blanche needed an escape from. He argued that Blanche was
aware of how she was being seen by men, therefore put on a charade of still being in her sexual prime.
Hovis stated, [Blanche Dubois like Amanda Wingfield and Lucretia Collins were] aware that she
[was] beyond what culture consider[ed] to be her prime and therefore engage[d] in an elaborate
scheme of denial, which involve[d] a repetition of some critical moment from the past that mark[ed] a
missed opportunity (Hovis, 175). Hovis s claim that Blanche s elaborate scheme was based on denial
of no longer being in her prime rests upon the questionable assumption that Blanche was beyond her
prime based solely on age. Blanche was beyond her prime, however, a better explanation for her ruse
would be that

Kazuo Ishiguro in Never Let Me Go and Mike Barker in The Handmaid s Tale similarly develop plots
in which they explore the accomplishment of authority from the expulsion of human connections.
Each author utilises setting, metaphor and symbolism to heighten how the impact of isolation,
breakdown of family structure and removal of identification prevents connections. Thus
demonstrating that without human networks authority can achieve ultimate supremacy.

Barker eradicates the handmaid s names and instead they must take the name of their Commander.
June s name Offred demonstrates that she is the property of her Commander, and thus the

provide the clones with a last name, symbolising that their ability to distinguish each other is non
existence and thus their identity is unknown. Consequently, the clones become desperate to find their

light exposure and diegetic sounds which are often unheard in the Republic of Gilead to provoke
unsettlement within the audiences, due to the similarities with present society. These scenes depict
June with her family and have her consecutively centre frame with a levelled shot alluding to her

individuals become powerless and marginalised. Similarly, Ishiguro shows how dystopian elements in

Appellate Power Vs Supreme Court
First of all, it is important to distinguish that the appellate and discretionary powers belonging to the
Supreme Court are two separate powers. The appellate power is the power of a higher court to reverse
or uphold the ruling of a lower court. The Supreme court is the highest court and thus takes more
appeals cases than trial cases. This is due to the limited original jurisdiction of The Supreme Court.
Unless the case is between two states, involves the United States as a party, or involves a
representative of a foreign nation the U.S. Supreme Court lacks original jurisdiction. The Supreme
Court also has limited appellate jurisdiction. The Court can only hear a case if a federal question is
presented, The United States federal government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Allowing for appeals to the highest court allows for important decisions to be made that set precedent
for the rest of the courts. It also allows for errors made in the lower court to be corrected. The
appellate jurisdiction that The Supreme Court holds is granted by The Constitution. In Article III of
the preamble The Supreme Court is only limited by the discretion of Congress. In a way this power
has more checks in place than the discretionary powers. One major critic of the appellate power of The
Supreme Court is that it allows for lower courts to be invalidated. This can lead to less faith in the
lower courts and thus undermines the power of the overall judicial system. Another problem with the
appeals process is the amount of useless litigation that results from the ability to appeal. The Supreme
Court does not often overturn decisions made by the lower courts and thus most of the cases brought
to The Court take up time and resources that might be better used. The process of appeals for the
Supreme Court solves some of this problem, but does not completely mitigate it. The review process
used by The Supreme Court is highly effective and ensures only cases that need the decision of The
Supreme Court reach the justices. As such, the appellate powers of The Supreme Court have few
issues and serve an important function in the Judicial

Strengths of Black Families Essay
Strengths of Black Families
The African American family is defined as networks of households related by blood, marriage, or
function that provide basic instrumental and expressive functions of the family to the members of
those networks (Hill, 1999). It is one of the strongest institutions throughout history, and still today.
Family strengths are considered to be cultural assets that are transmitted through socialization from
generation to generation and not merely adaptations or coping responses to contemporary racial or
economic oppression (McDaniel 1994; Hill 1999). This definition is contrary to the belief that the

Building upon not only the intellectual achievement, but also the self esteem of black students can also
help strengthen their achievement. Many studies have revealed that high self esteem is strongly
correlated with subsequent achievement orientation and upward mobility (Hill, 1999). The attitude of
significant others (parents, peers, and teachers) toward a child is an important source of self esteem
among black children (Taylor 1976; Gibbs 195; Hill 1999). In school, teachers can encourage
interaction between themselves and the students, as well as the students among each other. The
flexibility of family roles is important in African American culture because it contributes to the
stability and advancement of numerous black families (Hill, 1999). This ability to adapt to many roles
may lead to equality between husband and wife or whoever the caretakers in the home. Sex specific
socialization patterns are dominant in the Euro American culture and lead to a mostly inferior attitude
by white females. In the African American family, even though there are many egalitarian patterns, the
black mother is a lot of times the strongest figure. They are equal to their husbands in that they share
work responsibilities inside and outside the home. In the classroom, these strengths can be used to
motivate the equal learning of all students. Male and female students should

Heroes Of The Enlightenment Analysis
In the video Heroes of the Enlightenment by Humanist Society of Australia Inc, the author explains
how during the seventeenth and eighteenth century European philosophy, science and politics were
reoriented as part of a movement known as the Age of Enlightenment. The objective of the
Enlightenment was to inform the public, aiming to persuade others about the main hero s ideas within
that era. As well as, how they shaped the world that we live in today.
The first hero of the enlightenment was Isaac Newton who was an innovator of modern science, and
he founded the theory of gravity. He believed knowledge was not only written in the bible but also
about observing what happens in our surroundings. Newton conceived gravity by watching an apple
that was falling from a tree. Where other people would see just an apple falling, Newton had seen
universal forces that were in action. Newton believed that God set up the universe in its eternal state.

The second most common type of hair loss is telogen effluvium. Effluviums commonly affect
different phases of the hair growth cycle. Hair follicles on the scalp do not constantly produce hair.
The follicles cycle through a growth stage that can last two or more years, they then revert to a resting
stage for up to two months before starting to grow new hair again. At any time on a healthy scalp
about 80% to 90% of the hair follicles are growing hair. This active stage of hair growth is called the
anagen phase. This also means that at any given time 10% to 20% of the follicles on the scalp are in a
resting stage called telogen, where they are not producing any hair. Telogen effluvium occurs when
there is a significant change in the number of hair follicles in the anagen phase. When this happens,
more hair is in the telogen phase, which results in telogen effluvium, or shedding. The cause of this
type of hair loss is not always easy to discover, as it may be a result of stress, postpartum alopecia,
vaccinations, extreme or quick weight loss, physical trauma and/or diet. Fortunately, people
experiencing telogen effuvium will not suffer permanent hair loss because it is fully reversible and
they will not completely lose their hair but rather they may see their hair become much thinner. . Most

Clipping Of Aneurysms Essay
It s not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it. That is a famed quote from Hans Selye, a famous

nervous system I can fix the abnormalities and diseases of the brain. One of the highest pressure
surgeries neurosurgeons perform are the clipping of aneurysms.
Aneurysms are a ballooning and weak area in the wall of an artery that supplies blood to the brain.
They can burst at any moment and cause a subarachnoid hemorrhage, which is bleeding under the
layer of brain coverings called the arachnoid. This can cause increased intracranial pressure which can
lead to a stroke or even death if they aren t discovered in time. They most commonly occur in the

Loveliness And Love In William Shakespeare s Sonnet 18
In Shakespeare s Sonnet 18, the relationship in lines 1 8 between the young man s loveliness and
temperateness when compared to a summer s day can be connected through the times of the
Elizabethan. When Shakespeare wrote his sonnet it was very common to write with the theme of love
and often weather used to create moods. In this Sonnet, Shakespeare happens to be talking about a
young man of great beauty and promising expression and affection. In this sonnet, he first uses the
word loveliness when comparing to a summer s day. Summer is a romantic month when the sun is up
and lovers can come outside and enjoy the fresh air, yet this young man is even more lovely than this
season. Shakespeare follows this loveliness description mentioning why summer isn t that lovely with
the rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, and Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, So
when compared to the summer day, Shakespeare put the man he is describing above it, being even
more lovely than the summer season. Temperateness , his next adjective refers to weather and the
great balance within the young man. Unlike summer, he isn t switching up his weather or oneself with
breezes, hot suns, and clouds.
In the Sonnet, Shakespeare says, And every fair from fair sometimes declines, which means that
beauty doesn t last a person forever. He says that everything loses beauty and is not eternal like a short
summer. He then goes on to say this young man s thy eternal summer

Effects Of Regeneration On Planaria
No not everyone s planaria grew back in the same way. Two groups had full regeneration, seven
groups had some regeneration and one group had a mass death. My planaria was in the majority of
regeneration. Our result was one new planaria. Some of the things that might have affected the group
with the mass death is not having a clean blade to cut the planaria with or there being too much light
or their water being too cold because they were near an open window. For the groups that had full
regeneration their water temperature was not to warm and not too cold. Their blades could have had
remnants of other planaria but the planaria on the blade were healthy. The planaria that only
reproduced one planarian could have had a good water temperature

Term Limits For The Senate Essay
One of the most debated topics in American politics is whether term limits should be implemented for
Federal Congressmen and Senators. Currently, members of the House of Representatives serve two
year terms and those in the Senate serve six year terms, but there are an unlimited number of terms a
person can run for in these legislatures (Barbour 217). It s important to analyze the arguments for and
against term limits for Federal Congressmen and Senators in order to grasp a better understanding of
this subject. One argument supporting the implementation of term limits for Federal Congressmen and
Senators is that it allows for new blood in the Federal government. Since term limits limt how many
terms a Federal Congressmen and Senators can serve, term limits would then cut out career politicians
that prioritize their time on reelection then the problems of the constituents. Term limits allows for a
constant flow to introduce new individuals to the Federal government. If there were individuals that
enjoyed a specific Federal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often times, politicians turn towards their own personal agenda, such as furthering their political
career and enriching themselves, rather than focus on the reasons why their constituents elected them
to be public servants to the people. In the case of Chaka Fattah, a former United States Democratic
Representative for Philadelphia, where the man served in Congress for over 20 years was sentenced to
10 years in federal prison for orchestrating a series of frauds to enrich himself and boost his political
career (Ax). With such a limited amount of time that a Congressmen and Senators would have in
office due to term limits, they would be less likely to fall into corruption and pursuing their own
agenda and refocus on the issues that the people elected them to deal with and

Benefits Of Electronic Medical Records
There are many reasons why some health care organizations have been reluctant to use electronic
medical records. First let s talk about, what is an electronic medical record. An (EMR) Electronic
Medical Record consist of standard medical and clinical data gathered in the provider s office which
include a more in debt patient history. EHRs are created to hold and distribute information from all
providers dealing with patient care. EHR data can be created, managed, and advised by authorized
providers and staff from across more than one health care organization. EHRs is another name for
digital paper chart that hold all of the patient s medical history from one practice. While expanding
daily, electronic medical records are becoming extremely popular. Research shows that some
healthcare organizations continue to be reluctant to purchase electronic record programs. The pressure
on hospitals, clinics, systems, physicians and other providers to get with the program is outstanding.
Cost is a major concern for single practitioners, which are least likely among physicians to adopt
EHRs. EHR systems are not cheap by any means. Physicians have to weigh the cost of not only
creating, but supporting their own IT structure and applications as well. The option to decide to use
external vendors to provide the services is given also. Consideration of cost include purchase price,
coordination cost, monitoring cost, and negotiating cost along with upgrade costs, and governance
cost.

A Comparison of Two Film Openings to Great Expectations
The story Great Expectations is based in Victorian times and was written by Charles Dickens in the
1860s. This novel which Charles Dickens wrote has been produced as a film one version by David
Lean and another by B.B.C. The B.B.C version is the modern version and the version produced by
David Lean is the traditional version. I will be comparing these two versions of the openings to Great
Expectations . These two openings use varying techniques to very different effects. Both films set out
to introduce isolation and vulnerability.
In the David Lean version, straight away we, the audience have the impressions that the film is old

The book which we see at the start dissolves from one shot to another; in this case it dissolves from
the book to Pip running to the churchyard. The narrative (voice over) gives a wide perspective. When
Pip is running to the churchyard there is a long shot used, this long shot makes Pip look small and
vulnerable. The first things we see in the long shot are the gibbets where the convicts are hanged; this
tells us that Pip is in a dangerous and isolated place.
Then the camera shot is in the graveyard, where the creepy sound effects such as the trees creaking
and the wind whistling come into play. The scenery is very spine chilling in the graveyard. The wind
gets louder as Pip gets more tense and the tree creeks just before the convict arrives so the entrance is
made more dramatic. We see a tree from Pips eyes this makes him look very small and vulnerable. We
also hear an owl hoot again just before the convict arrives, this hoot acts like a warning to Pip that he
is in danger. It is an effective technique used by David Lean uses with the owl hooting just before the
convict arrives because an owl represents danger in many stories.
The convict is first seen when he jumps out on Pip out of the left hand side of the screen. The convict
jumps into the shot on the left hand side because the brain automatically

Fidel Castro And The Cuban Revolution
In 1959 Fidel Castro attempted to overthrow dictator Fulgencio Batista; Castro led a revolutionary
movement in a guerrilla war against Batista s forces. As anti Batista sentiment grew, Castro took a
leading role in the Cuban Revolution which eventually ousted the president. (Stevenson 118)Once in
power, Castro nationalized American property and because of this the United States diplomatic
relations with Cuba were cut in 1961. Even prior to the break in relations, President Eisenhower
agreed to a CIA backed plan to overthrow Fidel Castro. When John F. Kennedy was elected, he was
informed of the CIA s plan. The newly elected president, unfortunately approved of the plan to attempt
an uprising in Cuba against Fidel Castro. Before the Bay of Pigs invasion was developed; the United
States tentatively backed Castro, in hopes of keeping a good relationship with Cuba. During the short
lived time of alliance, Castro even visited the United States. President Eisenhower refused to even
meet Castro, instead he played a round of golf so not to see him at all. Before departing for Cuba,
Castro met with Vice President Richard Nixon. Privately, Nixon hoped that his talk would push Castro
in the right direction, and away from any radical policies. Nixon concluded that Castro was either
incredibly naive about communism or under communist discipline my guess is the former.

since. The

Speech About Coconut
Coconut (Cocos nucifera L.) is one of the main crops which is abundantly produced in the Philippines.
Coconut can be served as food and can be produced to various products and by products. Some food
examples are copra, coconut oil, coconut milk, latik, desiccated coconut, coconut flour, etc. As
compared to other agricultural crops, coconut provides more products and by products since all of its
parts starting from the tree itself to the fruits has its uses. Hence, many people especially in Southeast
Asia, Pacific region, Africa and some countries in Latin America, considered coconut as a significant
crop in agriculture and industries (The Coconut Industry, n.d.). Since supply of coconut is very
essential to many countries, it is essential to monitor its production. The production per land area can
be quantified through crop yield.
Crop yield is used to determine the efficiency of food production. Basically, it is the amount of
produced crop per area of land. Moreover, it is sometimes called as agricultural output and conveyed
in kilograms/hectare or metric tons/hectare. Essentially, the use of evaluating the crop yield is to

Impact Of Accessibility Signals On Knowledge Diffusion
Figures 6a, 6b, 7a, and 7b provide visual insight about the effect of utilizing accessibility signals in 8
blocks of our experiment. Figure 6a, compares the effect of utilizing accessibility signals on
knowledge diffusion in blocks with heterogeneous distribution of knowledge and 1) local, and 2)
global reputation mechanisms, whereas Figure 6b does this comparison in blocks with homogeneous
distribution of knowledge and 3) local and 4) global reputation mechanisms. Similarly, Figure 7a
compares accessibility signal s effect in blocks with homogeneous distribution of knowledge and 5)

with heterogeneous distribution of knowledge and 7) low ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This measure abstracts extent of diffusion in the network (Abrahamson and Rosenkopf 1997). A
dummy variable called heterogeneous knowledge distribution is created with a value of 1 when the
distribution of knowledge is heterogeneous, and 0 when the distribution is homogeneous. Further, we
model accessibility signals as 0/1 dummy variables where 0 indicate no use of a signal and 1 indicates
the use of a signal. Likewise, a dummy variable called global reputation mechanism is created which
is 1 when the reputation mechanism is global, and is 0 when the reputation mechanism is local. Also,
we input the inverse number of questions that each agent can answer per round of simulation as the
measure of its time constraint (low 1/10, high 1/5). Finally, we use the parameter value of network
density (0.3, 0.7) as the network density variable s value in our OLS model.
Table 1 reports the beta coefficients of accessibility signal dummy in each of the eight blocks
mentioned above . Results of this split sample analysis, conforming to patterns seen in the plots, show
that accessibility signals have positive effect in blocks 4 and 6, whereas they have negative effect in
blocks 1 and 8, and insignificant effect in blocks 2, 3, 5, and 7.
As an alternative to the split sample test, we run regression models

  • 2. The Raegan Administration as Having Altered the American... The Raegan Administration as Having Altered the American Political Agenda To understand why the Reagan presidency was so unique first one must understand transformation of the presidency. The post 1932 modern presidency differs from the modern presidency in three ways unique ways. The first reason is that the modern president have grown stronger, and thus expanded and developed independence to create policy. The second reason is that the president s role in shaping the annual legislative agenda and influencing congress has been institutionalised. The third reason is that in the modern presidency, there has been a large expansion in official presidential staff. In 1937 President Franklin D. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reagan was much liked because he offered a broad appeal, he shared the notions of people such as Goldwater but Reagan would be much liked. One thing the American public hates is an out spoken candidate, and that s what people such as Goldwater was, so Reagan was the ideal candidate. Goldwater was the extreme right of the Republican Party, Goldwater often criticised the policies of Dwight Eisenhower. He described his social policies as dime store New Deal and strongly opposed the president s decisions to use federal troops at little rock. Goldwater also believed that Eisenhower was too soft on trade unions and complained about his failure o balance the budget. Reagan had an attractive personality and also had a good style as a political performer, this made Reagan a strong candidate, his notions and his ideology made him a candidate who might be able to represent conservative views, and more importantly be electable. Many candidates with strong political views, sometimes forget their political position once they are elected into office. However Reagan made it his goal to be true to his conservative principles, which he had been compiling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Museum s Main Purpose Essay The museum s main purpose is not only to educate the public about American Indians, but also to deconstruct stereotypes and give tribal members something along the lines of a safe place where they are welcome to embrace their ethnicity. One factor that showcases the information I previously stated is the fact that tribal members have free admission into the museum. Another way the museum salutes the ethnicity of American Indians is by commemorating Native individuals alive today. Names of famous Native Americans are displayed along with their contributions to the ethnic group. One of the people displayed is Sarah Deer, who is a professor and lawyer that fought for Tribal Jurisdiction. Upon arrival, I was informed that the museum is divided by Tribe and the regions in which each tribe was located. The museum is divided into Alaska/Canada, Northwest Coast, Southwest, Plains, and Woodlands. The reason I think it is divided this way is so that every person who visits has the ability to learn about each region of tribes separately. It is easy to make assumptions that Native Americans were all the same, but the truth is that they are all unique. Each tribe has their own customs, clothing, food, and ways of life. The Alaska/Canada region includes tribes like the Athapaskan, Inuit, Cree, Chipewyan, Ojibwe, Naskapi, and the Montagnais. Because these tribes had to deal with an extremely harsh environment, they adapted by utilizing animals and tools to help them survive. Their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Chronic Pain Case Study Essay Chronic pain is often concurrent with depression and many agents used for the treatment of depression are CYP2D6 inhibitors which interfere with the metabolism and pharmacological action of tramadol, a common agent used in the treatment of moderate to severe pain. The case reported is proposes caution should be taken in initiating or titrating tramadol in patients currently taking medications with strong CYP2D6 inhibition properties, especially in combination with other serotonergic agents. A 70 year old female presented with signs and symptoms of mild serotonin toxicity resulting from an increased tramadol dose in concurrence with bupropion and sertraline therapy. This will decrease the potential for serotonin toxicity in this patient population. Medication reconciliation should be extensively performed on patients with comorbid depression and chronic pain to potentially identify high risk patients taking tramadol with bupropion or other strong CYP2D6 inhibitors. Specific attention should be directed to how the patient is actually taking each medication, along with the subjective level of pain relief the patient is experiencing. This will help with identification of potential drug interactions and prompt more specific attention to any signs and symptoms of serotonin toxicity. Tramadol is a commonly prescribed partial μ opioid receptor agonist analgesic available as a racemic mixture of positive and negative enantiomers. It is used frequently in patients with chronic pain, whom often times have an underlying depression with an estimated prevalence of 35%. The Diprotodon co existed with humans for thousands of years before becoming extinct some 25,000 years ago. It was also the last megafauna to become extinct. Appearance The Procoptodon was a huge kangaroo which grew up to 2 metres in height and weighed up to 200 kilograms. The Procoptodon had a short, flat face and forward facing eyes and an upright posture. The lower jaw was big and a chin was developed. It had small incisors on the upper and lower jaws for nipping the vegetation. It had long and mobile forelimbs with the two middle fingers having long, recurved claws enabling them to be used like a hook to grasp leafy branches. It had a single toe on its feet which had a hoof like claw on the end of it. This may have helped give the Procoptodon a greater measure of speed. It is believed that the number 2, 3 and 5 toe bones were so reduced that they were lost and the well developed number 4 toe formed into a single toe. Habitat Procoptodon were mainly in arid or semi arid regions on New South Wales and South Australia. Many areas were harsh environments being treeless, wind blown sand dunes. Having been found in The Lake Menindee area in western New South Wales, it was a somewhat cooler and wetter climate than what it is today. This belief of receiving assistance from the National government also applied to the local government and how the they began to rely on funding and assistance. • 8. Should Girls Be Allowed To Play On Boy Sports What if girls were able to play on boy sports teams? This question may cause people to be irate. Others might be overjoyed. A majority of people would say girls being on a boys sports team is preposterous, but they do not see the plus side of girls being on boy teams. Other people would consider girls being on boy sports teams a way to end discrimination against genders. Because many schools have a limited amount of activities girls can participate in, and girls can be just as competitive as boys, girls should be allowed to go out for boys sports. The first reason why girls should be allowed to join boys sports is because all girls that participate in boy sports would be taught to have a better sense of determination. • 9. Drinking In College Essay The graduating Class of 2015 quickly learned that college really is the best time of our lives; but with great power, comes great responsibility. Drinking at a frat party sounds like a lot of fun until you wake up at 6 in the morning at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. While many students drink, not many know the health and personal risks that come making the decision to consume alcohol. According to the Science Inside Alcohol Project, a study funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, people who consume too much alcohol pass out when the large amount of alcohol overwhelms the Reticular Activating System. This is the system that decides when one is conscious or not. Because alcohol is a depressant, it depresses the central nervous system. Passing out is the body s attempt to preserve its energy to keep performing the basic bodily functions that keep people alive, such as maintaining heartbeat and breathing. Psychological effects of excessive alcohol consumption include greater likelihood of committing suicide and contracting hepatic encephalopathy. Hepatic encephalopathy is a worsening of brain function that occurs when the liver is no longer able to remove toxic substances in the blood (Tracy, 2012). If this occurs, one could experience differences in personality, overall mood, issues with coordination, and decrease in function of longterm memory and attentions spans. What Are The Benefits Of African American Studies There are multiple factors that differentiate the history and experience of African Americans from those of Asian, Hispanic and Native Americans. First African Americans were involuntary immigrated to the United States by traders looking to exploit them as a commodity to promote slavery. Unlike African Americans most ethnic groups immigrated here voluntary for economic and political freedom. Also while some of these groups were discriminated against their was a intensive effort to erase African culture from the minds of African Americans. Forcing them to abandon their language, history, culture and ancestral ties, to the europeans they were nothing, but a piece of property. Then after their past had been striped from them, African Americans were contintually taken advantage by whites to stay above them and not allow them to move up society. • 16. The Movement Of Fight For Urban Land Reform The Movimento de Luta nos Bairros, Vilas e Favelas MLB (Movement of Fight in Communities, Vilas and Favelas, loosely translated), is a Brazilian social movement that fights for urban land reform and for the human right of decent living conditions. Thousands of families throughout the whole country make up the movement, most of them victims of the land and propriety speculation predatory action. They are gathered in a way much alike what Sidney Tarrow described as a social movement, having a set up of collective challenges by people with common purposes and solidarity in sustained interaction with elites, opponents and authorities (Tarrow, 1998). Successive governments in Brazilian history have been ruling the county solely for the rich. During the last centuries most part of governmental assistance was directed to owners of big industries, great landowners and, more recently, bankers and financial speculators, and despite Brazil being rich in natural resources, the majority of Brazilian society is poor and 11% of the population still lives under the poverty line (Databank.worldbank.org, 2011). Nowadays, more than 7 million families are denied access to decent housing and about half of the population is not served with basic sanitation. This comes at a time in the dialogue being played out in the Republic in which the education of the guardians (especially those who will be the philosopher kings) is in question. The foundational elements of this education have already been discussed, these being the subjects of music and poetry and rigorous physical training. However, the question remains what other subjects should be added to the education process of the guardians to make them fit rulers of the just city. As Socrates has mentioned earlier in Book VI, he believes that it is philosophers that are most fit to rule, so the guardians of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Socrates takes issue with the manner in which it is currently studied in his time, claiming that those engaged in the subject gain no knowledge because they deal with things they can see, that is, the motions of the stars. He then makes the claim expressed in the quote above, that real astronomers (those concerned with truth and understanding) would not concern themselves with these stellar motions. This idea ties into the desired essence of the guardians education, as the subjects that are to be added should stimulate thought and the search for understanding. The purpose of this study is to prepare the potential rulers for what Socrates calls dialectic, which is essentially pure exploration of thought and reason in the quest for understanding that which is (i.e. the Forms). A parallel to this idea that also makes it quite provocative is the nature of modern astronomy, which often concerns itself with the motions of stars, although in a different, more diverse, and more advanced way than in Socrates time. However, modern astronomy also deals with problems as Socrates suggests, as the men and women at the forefront of the field are always trying to uncover the truth about not only the way celestial bodies move and interact with one another, but also how they fit into the grand ... The Pursuit of Happyness Essay Social stereotypes and Happiness The Pursuit of Happyness 11/21/2012 Instructor: Prof. Kristin Little Author: Tareq Naseer Alsamarh Social stereotypes and happiness The story of the movie The Pursuit of Happyness directed by Gabriele Muccino portrays a family who struggles with finding enough money to pay taxes and afford living expenses. The movie takes a place in San Francisco during the 80s. The two main characters are the father Chris Gardner and his son Christopher, Will Smith and Jaden Smith respectively. Gardner tries to support his family. But every time he attempts to make things better, they always end up worse. Gardner in the story wonders on how to be happy? He earns his money by selling the bone density ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In another perspective, fatherhood for Gardner is like a job for him. Because he loses his wife, he needs to provide joy, fun and help for his son Christopher which is not an easy job to do. Those fathers, who spend more time with their children, have a better life than others who spend most of their time working and gaining money. However, being a father as a single parent like Chris gives him the enthusiasm to do his best and replace his wife s role to have a better life with his son. Yet, this decreases the happiness that Gardner possesses. According to Scott Coltrane, a sociologist at the University of California, points out that Father s style of parenting has changed too. Fathers are beginning to look more like mothers (qtd. in Cullen and Grossman). Before Linda leaves the family, she works double shifts to make more money to afford the living expenses and to help her husband. So Chris is the one who takes more care of their son than the mother, Linda. Gardner seems to be happier being close to his son. There are many scenes in the movie that show how Gardner and Christopher are happy of being together. Nonetheless, there is only one scene that Christopher not even misses his mother; instead he asks did mom leave because of me? (The Pursuit of Happyness). This indicates that Gardner does a great job of being a single parent that makes his son, not remembering his mother. For fathers, home ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Argumentative Essay On Woolly Mammoth 100,000 years ago, the woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenus) roamed the Earth. The woolly mammoth is one of the most studied megafauna of the Pleistocene epoch, which spanned from 2.6 million to 11,700 years ago. Most populations of it died out around 10,000 years ago [4], although a small population survived until around 3.7 thousand years ago on Wrangel Island [6]. The woolly mammoth was one of the many now extinct megafauna that existed during the Pleistocene. Others include the cave lion (Panthera spelaea) and the ground sloth (Megalonyx jeffersonii). The end Pleistocene extinction event observed the extinction of many of these megafauna, particularly in North America and Eurasia. By 10,000 years ago, approximately 97 megafauna which had ... These are the overkill hypothesis, the climatic hypothesis, hyperdisease, and the Younger Dryas impact hypothesis. The overkill hypothesis is the argument that the humans caused the end Pleistocene megafaunal extinction, through over hunting. This hypothesis could explain why megafauna in particular faced extinction during the Quaternary extinction event, as humans assumedly chose larger mammals to hunt as they provided more food. The climatic hypothesis suggests that the end Pleistocene extinction of megafauna was a result of major climatic changes occurring at the end of the Pleistocene. The timing of the last glacial interval is appropriate for the climatic hypothesis, as the last glacial interval ended in many places, including North America, between 12,000 and 10,000 years ago. Our hero s first appearance was in a small story by Kan Shimozawa, titled Zatoichi, although the concept, as a whole, was based on a secondary character of this story, a blind gambler. The first introduced example of this would be the streetcar named Desire. Desire was the reason Blanche moved to Stella s home and ironically, the way she arrived. Desire was consistently alluded to throughout the play. Blanche s past was full of desire, but her time at the Kowalski s was presented with desire as well. From Mitch to Stanley, to Blanche living the extravagant lifestyle that she retained, Blanche desired a life that she did not have access to. After she ruined her reputation with sexual encounters and the epic fornications of her family to lose Belle Reve, Blanche had no where to turn. Belle Reve was another large theme throughout the play. Belle Reve or beautiful dream was where Blanche and Stella were raised. Stella was able to move on and marry Stanley. Blanche, after her husband s death, wasn t able to cope and depended on her family at Belle Reve. The beautiful dream became Blanche s escape. George Hovis presented a counter argument to what Blanche needed an escape from. He argued that Blanche was aware of how she was being seen by men, therefore put on a charade of still being in her sexual prime. Hovis stated, [Blanche Dubois like Amanda Wingfield and Lucretia Collins were] aware that she [was] beyond what culture consider[ed] to be her prime and therefore engage[d] in an elaborate scheme of denial, which involve[d] a repetition of some critical moment from the past that mark[ed] a missed opportunity (Hovis, 175). • 38. Clipping Of Aneurysms Essay It s not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it. That is a famed quote from Hans Selye, a famous Hungarian endocrinologist, that relates to moments when a life is in a physician s hands. One wrong move of a doctor and a patient could die. Learning to overcome fears and concentrate on the task at hand is the most needed skill for a surgeon, a brain surgeon to be exact. Focusing on the central nervous system I can fix the abnormalities and diseases of the brain. One of the highest pressure surgeries neurosurgeons perform are the clipping of aneurysms. Aneurysms are a ballooning and weak area in the wall of an artery that supplies blood to the brain. They can burst at any moment and cause a subarachnoid hemorrhage, which is bleeding under the layer of brain coverings called the arachnoid. This can cause increased intracranial pressure which can lead to a stroke or even death if they aren t discovered in time. They most commonly occur in the Circle of Willis in the anterior cerebral artery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once her scans came back I saw indeed that she had an immense ruptured aneurysm in her anterior cerebral artery which supplies blood to the midline portions of the frontal lobes and superior medial parietal lobes. This meant that she would need to be rushed into emergency surgery to clip her aneurysm. This is a life or death situation that needs to be solved within ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Loveliness And Love In William Shakespeare s Sonnet 18 In Shakespeare s Sonnet 18, the relationship in lines 1 8 between the young man s loveliness and temperateness when compared to a summer s day can be connected through the times of the Elizabethan. When Shakespeare wrote his sonnet it was very common to write with the theme of love and often weather used to create moods. In this Sonnet, Shakespeare happens to be talking about a young man of great beauty and promising expression and affection. In this sonnet, he first uses the word loveliness when comparing to a summer s day. Summer is a romantic month when the sun is up and lovers can come outside and enjoy the fresh air, yet this young man is even more lovely than this season. Shakespeare follows this loveliness description mentioning why summer isn t that lovely with the rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, and Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, So when compared to the summer day, Shakespeare put the man he is describing above it, being even more lovely than the summer season. Temperateness , his next adjective refers to weather and the great balance within the young man. Unlike summer, he isn t switching up his weather or oneself with breezes, hot suns, and clouds. In the Sonnet, Shakespeare says, And every fair from fair sometimes declines, which means that beauty doesn t last a person forever. He says that everything loses beauty and is not eternal like a short summer. He then goes on to say this young man s thy eternal summer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My planaria was in the majority of regeneration. Our result was one new planaria. Currently, members of the House of Representatives serve two year terms and those in the Senate serve six year terms, but there are an unlimited number of terms a person can run for in these legislatures (Barbour 217). It s important to analyze the arguments for and against term limits for Federal Congressmen and Senators in order to grasp a better understanding of this subject. One argument supporting the implementation of term limits for Federal Congressmen and Senators is that it allows for new blood in the Federal government. Since term limits limt how many terms a Federal Congressmen and Senators can serve, term limits would then cut out career politicians that prioritize their time on reelection then the problems of the constituents. • 44. Benefits Of Electronic Medical Records There are many reasons why some health care organizations have been reluctant to use electronic medical records. First let s talk about, what is an electronic medical record. An (EMR) Electronic Medical Record consist of standard medical and clinical data gathered in the provider s office which include a more in debt patient history. EHRs are created to hold and distribute information from all providers dealing with patient care. EHR data can be created, managed, and advised by authorized providers and staff from across more than one health care organization. EHRs is another name for digital paper chart that hold all of the patient s medical history from one practice. While expanding daily, electronic medical records are becoming extremely popular. Research shows that some healthcare organizations continue to be reluctant to purchase electronic record programs. The pressure on hospitals, clinics, systems, physicians and other providers to get with the program is outstanding. Cost is a major concern for single practitioners, which are least likely among physicians to adopt EHRs. EHR systems are not cheap by any means. Physicians have to weigh the cost of not only creating, but supporting their own IT structure and applications as well. The option to decide to use external vendors to provide the services is given also. Consideration of cost include purchase price, coordination cost, monitoring cost, and negotiating cost along with upgrade costs, and governance cost. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The book which we see at the start dissolves from one shot to another; in this case it dissolves from the book to Pip running to the churchyard. The narrative (voice over) gives a wide perspective. When Pip is running to the churchyard there is a long shot used, this long shot makes Pip look small and vulnerable. The first things we see in the long shot are the gibbets where the convicts are hanged; this tells us that Pip is in a dangerous and isolated place. Then the camera shot is in the graveyard, where the creepy sound effects such as the trees creaking and the wind whistling come into play. The scenery is very spine chilling in the graveyard. The wind gets louder as Pip gets more tense and the tree creeks just before the convict arrives so the entrance is made more dramatic. We see a tree from Pips eyes this makes him look very small and vulnerable. We also hear an owl hoot again just before the convict arrives, this hoot acts like a warning to Pip that he is in danger. It is an effective technique used by David Lean uses with the owl hooting just before the convict arrives because an owl represents danger in many stories. Further, we model accessibility signals as 0/1 dummy variables where 0 indicate no use of a signal and 1 indicates the use of a signal. Likewise, a dummy variable called global reputation mechanism is created which is 1 when the reputation mechanism is global, and is 0 when the reputation mechanism is local.
