Intervention Programs ( Anjour )
Intervention Programs (Anjour)
Early alert intervention programs can be beneficial to colleges to assist them with identifying students
who are at risk of not being academically successful (Tampke, 2012 2013; Bryan Simmons, 2009).
Equally important, students entering college for the first time encounter significant changes from
those encountered in high school as the academic demands are usually more rigorous. In addition,
some freshman students struggle with academic success, which impacts persistence; therefore, early
intervention programs should be considered. According to Vanthournout, Coertjens, Donche, and Van
Petegem (2012), student academic persistence is an expected outcome of early intervention programs.
Learning Methods Course. Tuckman and Kennedy (2011) compared a group of 702 freshman college
students at a large mid western university: half of the students took a learning methods course, and
half of the students did not take the course. The purpose of the course was to assist students with
increasing accountability, self esteem, learning modality, readiness skills, and managing their personal
responsibilities. Data from the study concluded that students who completed the methods course had a
higher rate of persistence towards academic achievement, and graduated at a higher rate than the
students who did not take the course. Moreover, the occurrence of graduating was 50% greater for
those students who were experiencing academic difficulty. For this

Benefits Of Carbohydrate Restriction For Diabetes And The...
Since two thirds of American adults are currently overweight or obese, doctors find it hard to find the
best diet for their patients. The list of choices and categories is lengthy, with vocal advocates for the
Atkins diet, the Zone diet, South Beach diet, Jenny Craig, Vegan/vegetarian diet, and the cousin to the
Atkins diet the Paleo diet, etc. If any of these diets was sufficiently effective and easily adopted by
Americans we wouldn t be faced with such an obesity epidemic. The truth is there is no simple answer
because everybody is different; doctors should recommend whatever diet the patient can best adhere to
(Louis Kuristzky, MD, 2014). Because being overweight or obese can lead to diabetes and the
inability of current recommendations to control this epidemic has failed. They now see the benefits of
carbohydrate restriction to treat diabetes and the studies are well documented. A low carbohydrate diet
is the first approach to reduce high blood glucose, and lead to the reduction or elimination of
medication without side effects (Richard D. Feinman, 2015). There are concerns about the efficacy
and safety of a low carbohydrate diet that has always surrounded this method of weight loss, but it s
more conjecture then data driven (Feinman, 2015). Critics believe that diets such as Atkins has
potential negative effects on bone health, renal functions and cardiovascular health. In the matter of
bone health the concern was that there will be an increased level of

The Importance Of English Literature
High school has been my most treasurable experience so far; a time where I have learnt about a range
of topics and developed the skills to view things from a personal perspective. For this, I owe a great
thanks to all my English teachers; especially Mrs Hinds, who is here with us today and Mrs Lyndon,
who helped prepare us for our final stretch of school. While preparing for this speech, when I read the
assessments from the past two years, it surprised me to realise how much I had missed the point of
each of the tasks. Only now while nearing the end this twelve year part of my life, have I realised the
importance of each individual topic. I realised that no other subject has delved into such a range of
diverse matters from the present and past. Just as in Harper Lee s quote from To Kill a Mockingbird :
People generally see what they look for and hear what they listen for . What I missed were the
fascinating features of our culture, encapsulated in varying English literature; which of course, were
obvious when studying the works of Shakespeare or of the Romantic poets of the eighteenth and
nineteenth century. But only after my interest in the subject spiked was I able to understand that I was
missing deeper aspects hidden within all types of literature. [linking sentence] A form of literature I
used to enjoy in its most meaningless state was music. Without giving it a second thought, I used to
view music as empty entertainment until we analysed a song and poem for The Beat

Why Is Power Important In The Great Gatsby
Money, success and power are determining factors in every major decision. The Great Gatsby shows
how that is relevant throughout the story. The majority of the book is focused around trying to achieve
the ultimate goal of success. Success shaped how characters developed and how each of them take
money, power and success relevant in every decision made. Throughout my paper I will write about
how money, power and success are key in this story.
Topic 1: They want to become successful.
Everyone wants to be successful. They strive to achieve unrealistic expectations. If everyone makes 6
figures, then the dollar bill would become deluded. Inflation would be at a high. Not everyone can be
like Jay Gatsby.
Topic 2: Daisy chooses Money over Love
Many prefer love or money. Some prefer money over love. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They could afford expensive houses and able to throw parties regularly. The people who didn t live a
lavish lifestyle were still attending the parties. The parties were amazing.
Topic 5: Maintaining your image
Characters like Jay Gatsby and Daisy had an image to maintain. People looked at them as if they were
special. They were noticed. Not everyone can be noticed though. Nick Carraway was often in the
background of these prolific characters.
Topic 6: Energy
I can t imagine how much energy it takes to be as renowned and famous as Jay Gatsby. He is probably
pestered most days. Measly matters and issues have consumed his life. This is quite sad. Especially
when he is unable to change how people look at him
Topic 7: Pressure
While being rich and famous sounds fun, it would come with much responsibility. People would
expect you to present yourself a certain way. You would also be expected to participate in certain
customs and social gatherings. The expectations placed upon someone of high wealth is quite
fascinating. I believe those expectations will never change

Atticus Finch Individuality
Some of the most important people who influence or change society are willing to step outside the
confines of their community and social values to express their individuality. For example, Jesus
Christ, spiritual leader of Christianity and Martin Luther King Jr., civil rights activist, who were
subject to hatred, rejection, ridicule, and risk their reputation and even their own lives. Harper Lee s
book To Kill a Mockingbird, demonstrates that being an individual is more important than being a
member of a community. Lee s presents this through Atticus Finch s role as an agent of change, who
fights the injustice against the black community in the deep south in the late 1930 s, and the character
of Scout, Atticus s daughter, who longs for freedom

Canto 18 of The Inferno by Dante Alighieri Essay
Canto 18 of The Inferno by Dante Alighieri
It was once said by Marcel Proust that We do not receive wisdom, we must discover it for ourselves,
after a journey through the wilderness which no one else can make for us, which no one can spare us...
. This journey through the wild to discover wisdom is exactly what transpires in The Inferno by Dante
Alighieri. The Inferno is an epic poem that is the first section of a three part poem called The Divine
Comedy. The Inferno is about the narrator, Dante, traveling through the layers of Hell and learning
about the men and women in Hell, and ultimately why God is punishing them there. One of the most
representative parts of The Inferno as a whole is Canto 18. Canto 18 is the ... Show more content on

Despite not reading all of The Inferno, the certain part I did read gave me a true illustration of the
entire work. Particularly in Canto 18, readers observe Dante s writing techniques as well as the main
ideas or themes present in the work. Canto 18 is an especially excellent illustration of Dante as a
visual poet and his imagery. For example, it begins with Dante describing Malebolge as made of all
stone the color of crude iron / as is the wall that makes it way around it. / Right in the middle of the
evil field / is an abyss, a broad and yawning pit (2 5). Dante continues in writing more of a unique
description about the geography of Hell. His descriptiveness allows readers to feel and see the cold,
crude iron surrounding Malebolge and see the huge pit in the middle, too. As when I read the
description of the geography, Dante s writing creates fear in me just as he does for other readers in all
parts of The Inferno. Besides Dante s visual poetry, he also includes very shocking imagery that
affects all five of the senses. Canto 18 holds an excellent example of Dante s imagery. At the end of
the canto, Dante writes, The ditch beneath / held people plunged in excrement that seemed / as if it
had been poured from human privies (112 114). These few lines are a wonderful portrayal of the
extremely, shocking details he

Censorship Debate
Banning books gives us silence when we need speech. It closes our ears when we need to listen. It
makes us blind when we need sight (Stephen Chbosky). When we think of censorship, we picture Big
Brother staring at us through our televisions. The Thought Police tracking everything we do. We
picture books burning at 451 degrees. However, censorship does not merely live in our imagination,
nor does it live in the distant past. It is something we still see today. Time and time again, whether it
be through laws banning hate speech, conservative speakers being kicked off campus, or death threats
being made against those who dare challenge commonly held social and political views, censorship
rears its ugly head. Though it is paraded as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hate speech , a term often thrown around to label any idea that is considered offensive or dangerous to
the feelings of others, is growing extremely prevalent in our world. In many countries, including
Canada and France, there are laws specifically banning this hate speech. Saying something, anything,
that can be interpreted as offensive or hateful is illegal in these countries. As Americans who enjoy
freedom of speech, shouldn t we be disturbed by this and fight against it? Yes, we should, but
unfortunately that is not what is happening. In fact, many people are pushing for these same laws in
the United States. Though they currently do not exist, the censorship still does. We still see riots in the
streets over something that was deemed offensive, or triggering ; hate speech. We still see
conservative or libertarian speakers banned from universities, supposedly centers of learning, for
having unpopular ideas, so called hate speech. We still see the government itself trying to stop people
or groups who hold unpopular, offensive ideas, or hate speech. We even see people receive death
threats for sharing their opinions, so long as the public deems them hate speech. If this does not
horrify you, simply replace hate speech , with free speech . As said by Salman Rushdie, What is
freedom of expression? Without the freedom to offend,

Plant cell and their function FOUR MAIN TYPES OF TISSUES IN ANIMAL There are four types of
main tissues in human body 1. Epithelium Epithelium tissues are composed of layers of the cells that
are closely packed together which is specialised to form the covering or lining of both external and
internal surface of body such as surface of your skin and internal digestive system. The main function
of epithelium tissues are to provide protection like skin that protects you from injury, secretion like
glands such as enzymes, and to absorb materials like intestine such as waste products etc. The two
examples of Epithelium tissues are Squamous epithelium and Glandular epithelium. 2. Connective
tissue Connective tissues holds and binds everything together which are found all around the body.
This type of tissue is also called fibrous connective tissues as they are consisting of a lot of fibres eg.
Collagen and Elastin. The basic function of the connective tissue is to support, bind or connect all
other types of tissues together in the body.Blood, cartilage, and bone are usually considered as
connective tissue 3. Muscle tissue Muscle cells are the contractive tissue of body that produce force
and cause motion within internal organs. Muscle tissue is separated into three different categories:
visceral or smooth muscle that are located in the inner linings of organs and skeletal

Power Of Gaining Presidential Power
For me personally, I do not believe that our presidents need to be given any more power than what he
already has. For instance, the power the president has to veto this is the ability to stop any legislative
action by simply rejecting the action. Although every law or bill should not be passed I find it very
ironic that congress can spend several months on making a law and can simply have it vetoed in a day.
The president also holds the power to pardon people of crimes and or political crimes. This is a power
that can easily be abused by our presidents simply because pardons in the past were usually granted to
people with millions of dollars that may have contributed to that particular president political party. A
great example of this would

Essay On Dispositional Flexibility
Dispositional flexibility is the concept I find most important because it s a skill that all Air Force
personnel need to be effective leaders. They say that change is the only constant service members can
count on in the military. It s human nature to resist change, especially if the reason for it doesn t go
over well with the population. This is where the non commissioned officer (NCO) corps must step in
to ease tensions in the unit, while providing a positive outlook on the situation. Having dispositional
flexibility creates a better understanding of how to manage the changes on the horizon. The absence of
dispositional flexibility is when people only see the bad side of a given situation. An event that comes
to mind that caused many of my co workers to turn off their dispositional flexibility was the repeal of
the don t ask, don t tell policy in 2011. This was a very controversial issue that stirred up lots of
emotions. People were upset about things like co habitation in the deployed environment or not
wanting to have a gay suite mate in the dorms. This resistance to change was talked about openly in

while we can t control the things around us, we do have the ability to control our reactions, and
negative reactions only produce negative results. Additionally, I am going to ensure that I keep my

Being A Clarinet Essay
To start off my coat of arms I drew a clarinet in the middle. This clarinet represents something that I
want to get better at in the next year. Recently I have started playing clarinet so that I could join
Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. I believe that if I keep practicing every day and make a goal for
a year from now to be at 2nd clarinet level, I can succeed. My motto is work hard a stay strong, so
practicing and believing in myself will help me to be an expert next year. I used the colors red, blue,
and green. Green symbolizes balance and growth which I need to complete my goal. Red symbolizes
passion and ambition which I believe are two important qualities needed when wanting to get better at
something. Blue symbolizes trust and peace. If I stay calm and trust myself I will be able to
accomplish many goals, not just learning clarinet. Next, in the top right corner, I drew me saying
polite phrases that I use every day. This is the one thing I have learned from somebody else. When I
was young, my parents taught me how to be polite and use manners. This skill that I learned from my
parents has helped me so much in my lifetime especially when being a guest or speaking to an adult.
My motto, work hard and stay strong, applies to this because you can do both those things well with
manners, especially if you need help, and can use manners to ask for help. I used the colors orange,
yellow, and blue. Blue symbolizes integrity which I possess with the ability to use manners.

San Juan Del Rio Catholic School
CSJDR s Community Resources San Juan del Rio Catholic School (SJDR) is a parish within the
Diocese of St. Augustine. It is located in Saint John s County and in a rather affluent section. There are
many strengths of San Juan del Rio Catholic School but there are some weaknesses that need to be
addressed. One of the main things we need at San Juan del Rio is more activities and sports teams.
Our students are very competitive and play numerous sports are a part of many clubs outside of
school. They are also very involved in many activities which require travel throughout the year.
Having more activities and sports teams throughout the school year would ensure a variety of students
enrolling in our school and would meet the needs of the students at SJDR. After school programs
develop critical traits that prepare our students or adulthood while keeping them safe and entertained.
At San Juan del Rio, there are not as many programs and sports teams because the school has reached
its capacity when it comes to rooms and fields for the students to play. Money to construct more
buildings and fields is part of the reason why the school does not have more programs than it does.
After school programs serve communities of children and youth all across the United States, and
SJDR needs to be involved in this process. This would also fix the fact that the school is mostly
Caucasian, as it would allow new opportunities for all types of students. After school programs can

In this work, Marquez focuses on corruption as Senator Onesimo Sanchez accepts pay offs from his
people. As specified by the text, In this story he is clearly a corrupt politician who accepts bribes and
stays in power by helping the local property owners avoid reform (2053). Accordingly, in the text,
Sanchez speaks at a rally and knowingly presents promises that he does not intend to keep. In the text,
it states, We will no longer be foundlings in our own country, orphans of God in a realm of thirst and
bad climate, exiles in our own land. We will be different people, ladies and gentlemen, we will be a
great and happy people, (2056). This quote emphasizes that Sanchez deceives his people in order to
stay in power. Additionally, Sanchez encounters Nelson Farina, who is an escaped convict that
continuously begs him for a false identification card. Thus, Farina sends his daughter, Laura, to seduce
Sanchez into providing him with an ID. However, Laura is wearing a chastity belt that her father uses
to persuade Sanchez into delivering his request. Ultimately, these ideas relate to the theme of
corruption as Sanchez relays and performs deals based on his own satisfaction. Another theme within
the story is loneliness. This theme is prominent in the work, because Sanchez suffers alone due to his
underlying alienation. Sanchez is a husband and a father, yet he never tells any of them that he has six
months and eleven days to live.

Semiotics in Art History
The Oxford English Dictionary defines semiotics as [the] science of communication studied through
interpretation of signs and symbols as they operate in various fields, especially language. Semiology is
characterized as the science of signs which studies the life of signs within society. Signs include,
among others, sounds, images, words, odors, objects; they are concepts that stand for something else
in a system of signification. They allow us to communicate a concept or an idea while it is physically
absent. In art history, the simplest description of semiology consists of the translation of an image into
words. Two prominent founders of the contemporary sign theories are Peirce and Saussure. Although

This idea is intrinsically related to the concepts of the sender and the viewer, which will be discussed
in the next sections of this paper. The second issue discussed by the art historians is the sender of a
work. In this section, Bal and Bryson define and differentiate the composition of the artist of a work.
First, there is the concept of the sender as an individual, or J. Bloggs, as they call him. J. Bloggs
stands for the name of the individual, a designation, not a description;[...] it does not assign any
particular characteristics to its bearer (p.181). The second aspect of the sender is the author, which is
in the works, in a body of artifacts and in the complex operations performed on them (p.181). It is the
notions of enframement that distinguishes J.Bloggs from the author, which is what Bal and Bryson
identify as an elaborate work of framing, something we can elaborately produce rather than something
we simply find (p. 181). The art historian, Culler, explains that authorship is given, not produced, as
he states that what counts as authorship is determined by interpretative strategies (p.181). Thus, in
simpler terms, the author or artist could be produced in the sense that his attributed works and other
interpretable material, and ultimately produce a conception. Attributions are said to be evidenced
through material traces of the author in the work,

The Chemistry And Physic Of Either River Or Lake
I would like to phrase the question in another way, which is how would I determine the representative
sample and then accordingly what the constituents to be sampled?. As representative sample would be
the least number of data points required to give way a statistically precise picture of the water body
being analyzed. The chemistry and physic of either river or lake is a function of the substances that
contact with either in flowing or still water and how long been there with their exposure to the
sunlight or wind. The constituents from varied sources that are entering or leaving (river/lake) can be a
function of the hydrology and topography system. Water from sources such as direct/indirect
precipitation, surface runoff from snowmelt, or storm water from exposed rock or packed soil, or
groundwater inflow from the aquifer will react with the soil or bed/sedimentary rock and dissolved
them (as the phenomena knowns weathering condition). Therefore these variable sources can add a
critical deposit into the river or lake (surface water) constituents. For instance, many lakes and rivers
sensitive to acidification due to the acid precipitation/ mine drainage, or to the atmospheric inputs
such as (dust, SO4, NO3, Cl) leaving no time for neutralization before reaching lakes and rivers.
Further, seasonally variation for the snowmelt, dry period, runoff, discharge can be explained by a plot
of chemistry versus time or discharge depending upon the site. Major cations such as H+ from pH

EGT1 Task 3
For example, we could calculate the IQ difference for each subject by subtracting their IQ while
taking a placebo from their IQ while taking the new drug. If our sample average was positive, it would
mean that, on average, our subjects had a higher IQ while they were taking the experimental drug than
they had while taking the placebo.
In this case, we might choose these as our hypotheses:
Null hypothesis: The difference between IQ while the subjects were taking the drug and while the
subjects were taking the placebo is 0. (The population average is 0).
Alternative hypothesis: The IQ of the subjects was higher while they were taking the drug than while
they were taking the placebo. (The population average is greater than 0).

5. If the total sample size is over 15, two sample t tests are safe if there are no outliers and there is no

6. If the total sample size is over 40, two sample t tests tend to be very safe even if the data is strongly

7. Two sample t tests are most robust when the sample sizes are the same.
Again, these are rules of thumb and don t always apply. In fact, two sample t tests are much more

Pros And Cons Of Social Darwinism
Social Darwinists argue that economic competition produces human process. Social Darwinism is a
theory that states that individuals, groups, and people are all subject to the same Darwinian law of
natural selection as plants and animals. Spencer s idea was modified to refer to free competition in the
economic world. Spencer stated that free competition ensures that only the most capable individuals
survive and rise to the top. He also argued that the free competition that enriches some individuals and
reduces others to poverty results in the gradual improvement of the human race. One basic problem
with his idea is that the skills that help individuals and firms advance and survive in the business
world are not necessarily those that help humanity survive on the planet. Advancements might be
achieved through a ruthless disregard for other human beings. It is also important to mention that the
main problem with the Social Darwinists is the normative assumption that survival of the fittest means
survival of the best. 9. What are Marx s four forms of alienation? How does each form help to increase
inequalities of wealth and power? The first form of alienation is alienating workers from their own
productive work. People are usually forced into work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Strategic Safety Plan In Article, Toward a New Trilateral...
Toward a New Trilateral Strategic Security Relationship: United States, Canada, and Mexico
The article Toward a New Trilateral Strategic Security Relationship written by Richard J. Kilroy, Jr.,
Abelardo Rodríguez Sumano and Todd S. Hataley, published in the Journal of Strategic Security;
introduces the idea(s) of a trilateral strategic security relationship between the United States, Canada,
and Mexico. The term trilateral means to involve or share three parties, therefore this is a perfect term
to use when it comes to creating a strategic security plan between the three countries discussed in this
paper.
The Trilateral Commission has three separate regions: European, North American, and Asia Pacific; it
created in the early 1970 s, as a way to increase global interdependence. Trilateral summits have taken
place globally between said countries in regards to the security issues each country is perceptible to as
far as acts of terror, natural disasters and/or epidemic issues. Trilateral commissions are non
governmental, policy oriented groups that focus on discussion. The sole purpose of a trilateral
commission is to encourage an understanding and mutual aid among the three regions that make up
said commission on shared global issues. The United States, Canada, and Mexico make up the North
American Commission and the discussion of joining forces to create a strategic security plan with
each other has been a heavy topic of discussion. The United States feels that this

Theseus, from the Knight s Tale, and Sir Gawain.
How does Beowulf s original qualities compared to Bilbo from the Hobbit? Beowulf s qualities were
limited to courage, strength, and confidence. At the beginning of the Hobbit, we see that Bilbo was not
a very courageous hobbit. His courage slowly developed throughout the book, as he learned what he
was capable of achieving. The strength he had was always inside him, but he wasn t sure how reach it.

1.1. Introduction
Change, in general, indicates any act of making something different. The factors that necessitate
change in organizations are broadly categorized into people, technology, information processing and
communication, and competition. Some changes in the organization occur suddenly without the
conscious efforts of the people. These are called unplanned changes. On the other hand, some changes
are initiated by the management to accomplish certain goals and objectives. These are called planned
changes. More often, change is met with resistance.

Self-Driving Machine Ethics Essay
Ethics in Intelligent Machines: Self Driving Cars and The Trolley Problem The ethics behind
machines, thus far, have been mostly concerned with how humans interact directly with the machine,

cars, the debate has shifted from the ethics of the human behind it, to the ethics of the intelligent

machines become increasingly sophisticated, their ability to act out in the world becomes more

Personal Narrative Swimming
13 years. It has been 13 years since I first plunged into the pool to begin my first lesson. I was small,
skinny, and shy at the time, not willing to talk to people. I had tried other sports; baseball, soccer,

river were. So I began group lessons on the basics on how to swim, most of the other participants were
older than me so I did not make conversation with them. After I finished a couple of lessons and

William Shakespeare s Everyman, The Summoning Of Everyman
Introduction and Thesis Statement
The full title of Everyman is the summoning of Everyman . It is a morality play known by many
people because every character involved in the play is imperative for the plot as well as the morality
interpretation. However, Death takes most of critical role (Goldhamer, 1973). Everyman is the main
character but without Death, the play would lack its illuminative and illustrative nature. Nonetheless,
the author depicts Death as the messenger of God, cruel judge as well as rescuer of humankind.
According to the author, human kind is supposed to be answerable for the mistakes committed by
Adam. Indeed, the bad deed raises the sins of Everyman
Perception and treatment of Death
The author of the play, notwithstanding his anonymity, perceives death as God s servant and
messenger. Indeed, via different descriptions, the author leaves various spaces to direct the reader
about further thought in regards to the actual thought of the Death as depicted in the play. Therefore,
throughout the play, Death s character is undeniable. Death is what all and sundry in this world should
be anticipating. Through the Death s image, the author depicts a description of allegory and physical
of moral death. According to Cawley (1960), such visualization is indeed persuasive evidence of the
fact that is invisible in the normal and ordinary life people live in. Crisp (2001), adds that the
visualization traps individual in eternal fear. Furthermore, it leads to great

A Mechanized War Poem
This poem is my favorite of the three poems we have studied because of the beautiful language and
poetic techniques it employs, and because of how realistically it portrays war. The poem captures the
horror of troops caught in the middle of a brutal and merciless war, and their desperation. In a
mechanized war, attacks take place with frightening speed and intensity, where there is no place to run
or hide, and any response is not made out of logic but of pure fear. This hasty and irrational way of
thinking fueled only by terror typically only ended in death for both the attacker and the defender, and
severe trauma for any survivors. Using a series of present continuous verbs, the poet depicts fast
evolving action. He portrays the realness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The video gave an overview of the projectiles themselves and also showed the method in which they

The video began by stating that the projectiles were sent to him to be tested and he did not swage the

person that swaged them used a die that would allow the used brass from a .40 S W to be formed into

the user a greater amount of versatility when using the projectile as opposed to using a cast bullet.

Standardized Configurations across the Network
DeVry University
NETW206: Introduction to Switching
Submitted to:
Professor:
Date: 0/0/00
In the last week, we just got an idea about the network configuration which we are going to implement
in the organization. As per the requirement, we have to implement 150 cameras in the network. So we
have to have huge bandwidth in our network to transfer the data from 150 cameras. By implementing
the technology called Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN), we can save the bandwidth of our LAN.
VLAN means a group of devices on one or more logically segmented LANs (configured by use of
management software), enabling devices to communicate as if attached to the same physical medium,
when they are actually located on numerous different LAN segments. VLANs are based on logical
instead of physical connections and thus are tremendously flexible.
There are two types of VLANs.
1. End to End VLANs
2. Local VLANs
End to End VLANs
The term end to end VLAN refers to a single VLAN that is associated with switch ports that are
widely dispersed throughout an enterprise network on multiple switches. A Layer 2 switched campus
network carries traffic for this VLAN

Inventory management is primarily about specifying the size and placement of stocked goods
(Wikipedia 2010). Inventory management involves a retailer seeking to acquire and maintain a proper
merchandise assortment while ordering, shipping, handling, and related costs are kept in check
(Wikipedia 2010).
Inventory management is a part of materials management. Inventory management manages the
products flow in a supply chain. The process is: raw materials inventory in process inventory finished
product inventory (Nigel 2007). There are two parts in inventory management: Planning inventory and
Inventory control. The inventory turns is an important measurement of inventory efficiency. Inventory

holding cost. Reducing holding cost also can increase net income. High inventory has a high waste.
There are two systems in inventory management: push system and pull system. Push system based on

The Counseling Center, Student Center And Rehabilitation...
Our case study is based on Mark who is currently a freshman at MU. His father died due to illness two
weeks before Mark headed off for his fall semester at Mizzou. Despite Mark s devastation he decided
to attend Mizzou in honor of his father who was an alumni. Although, the transition between home
and school has been very difficult for Mark. He is not interested in marking friends, often sleeps
through classes and doesn t pay attention to lectures. Mark s roommate is worried about him, although
Mark just pushes him away. Mark s depression causes him to skip class Friday and Monday morning
in order to drive six hours home to visit his mother. Mark is in desperate need of help before things get
completely out of control. Throughout our research we narrowed down five possible resources
including: the Counseling Center, Student Center, Wellness Center, Student Success Center and
Newman Center. The Counseling Center offers a place where he could work on his psychological
problems. The Student Center provides a place for Mark to explore and possibly find a rec team,
organization or club to join. The Wellness Center allows Mark to get tips and help for reducing stress.
The Student Success Center is a place for Mark to get help with grades, tutoring and mapping out his
schedule. Lastly the Newman Center provides an outlet for Mark to talk to someone. Out of all the
possible resources we found the best Mizzou Resource for Mark to visit would be the Counseling
Center. The counseling

The Wedding Of Ursula Essay
When telling the story of Ursula s childhood, Lawrence tells us early on that, Ursula was the one for
realities. (259). From this point it is apparent that her story is going to be different. While she relies on
the hard realities of life and is very caught up in the things outside of her, her mind body conscious
self is just as active as Tom or Anna s. In fact, it may be even stronger for her because she seems to be
more aware of it: She became aware of herself, that she was a separate entity in the midst of an
unseparated obscurity, that she must go somewhere, she must become something. (Lawrence 281).
She has her first experience with love at an early age, when she encounters Anton Skrebensky. At one
point during their courtship, Anton comes to the wedding of Ursula s uncle, Fred, and Ursula has a
very distinct experience similar to the one her mother Anna had in the cornfield. At the touch of her
hand on his arm, his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was a glaucous, intertwining, delicious flux and contest in flux...She turned, and saw a great white
moon looking at her over the hill. And her breast opened to it, she was cleaved like a transparent jewel
to its light. She stood filled with the full moon, offering herself. Her two breasts opened to make way
for it, her body opened wide like a quivering anemone, a soft, dilated invitation touched by the moon.
She wanted the moon to fill in to her, she wanted more, more communion with the moon,
consummation. (Lawrence 316 17). In this passage, Ursula s will is dancing in a way with Skrebensky
s, but it is always separate. The moon has some deeper significance for her, as it did for Anna, as it
pierces the darkness, entering and becoming her

The Impact Of Rock And Roll On Society
Throughout the entire history of Rock and Roll, it is very apparent just how great of an impact social
and cultural change has made on the development of the genre. Society is such a powerful entity and
its influences on art are very often overlooked. If one person has the ability to independently influence
and conduct change, imagine the available influence that is made possible with society as a whole
during notable periods of development and change throughout the history of America. As discussed in
this paper, music has been a collaborative development with several determining factors. Society,
including both black and white individuals, has previously and continues to develop music into a
powerful and meaningful art form. Music allows society an outlet to express their feelings of sorrow,
confusion, and happiness. Rock and Roll contains several umbrella sub genres that have made major
impacts on the music that is known and enjoyed today. It is one of the best ways in which to
universally connect with other people throughout the world with common and similar feelings. It helps
many people feel as though they are not alone and there are others out there who are going through
similar experiences as they are.
The influence on Rock and Roll by the music that the first Africans brought to the United States is not
always discussed but had a very important impact on the development of this ever growing genre. This
transplanted African music wasn t exactly boogie woogie or

  • 2. Intervention Programs ( Anjour ) Intervention Programs (Anjour) Early alert intervention programs can be beneficial to colleges to assist them with identifying students who are at risk of not being academically successful (Tampke, 2012 2013; Bryan Simmons, 2009). Equally important, students entering college for the first time encounter significant changes from those encountered in high school as the academic demands are usually more rigorous. In addition, some freshman students struggle with academic success, which impacts persistence; therefore, early intervention programs should be considered. According to Vanthournout, Coertjens, Donche, and Van Petegem (2012), student academic persistence is an expected outcome of early intervention programs. Learning Methods Course. Tuckman and Kennedy (2011) compared a group of 702 freshman college students at a large mid western university: half of the students took a learning methods course, and half of the students did not take the course. The purpose of the course was to assist students with increasing accountability, self esteem, learning modality, readiness skills, and managing their personal responsibilities. Data from the study concluded that students who completed the methods course had a higher rate of persistence towards academic achievement, and graduated at a higher rate than the students who did not take the course. Moreover, the occurrence of graduating was 50% greater for those students who were experiencing academic difficulty. For this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Benefits Of Carbohydrate Restriction For Diabetes And The... Since two thirds of American adults are currently overweight or obese, doctors find it hard to find the best diet for their patients. The list of choices and categories is lengthy, with vocal advocates for the Atkins diet, the Zone diet, South Beach diet, Jenny Craig, Vegan/vegetarian diet, and the cousin to the Atkins diet the Paleo diet, etc. If any of these diets was sufficiently effective and easily adopted by Americans we wouldn t be faced with such an obesity epidemic. The truth is there is no simple answer because everybody is different; doctors should recommend whatever diet the patient can best adhere to (Louis Kuristzky, MD, 2014). Because being overweight or obese can lead to diabetes and the inability of current recommendations to control this epidemic has failed. They now see the benefits of carbohydrate restriction to treat diabetes and the studies are well documented. A low carbohydrate diet is the first approach to reduce high blood glucose, and lead to the reduction or elimination of medication without side effects (Richard D. Feinman, 2015). There are concerns about the efficacy and safety of a low carbohydrate diet that has always surrounded this method of weight loss, but it s more conjecture then data driven (Feinman, 2015). Critics believe that diets such as Atkins has potential negative effects on bone health, renal functions and cardiovascular health. The Importance Of English Literature High school has been my most treasurable experience so far; a time where I have learnt about a range of topics and developed the skills to view things from a personal perspective. For this, I owe a great thanks to all my English teachers; especially Mrs Hinds, who is here with us today and Mrs Lyndon, who helped prepare us for our final stretch of school. While preparing for this speech, when I read the assessments from the past two years, it surprised me to realise how much I had missed the point of each of the tasks. Only now while nearing the end this twelve year part of my life, have I realised the importance of each individual topic. I realised that no other subject has delved into such a range of diverse matters from the present and past. Just as in Harper Lee s quote from To Kill a Mockingbird : People generally see what they look for and hear what they listen for . What I missed were the fascinating features of our culture, encapsulated in varying English literature; which of course, were obvious when studying the works of Shakespeare or of the Romantic poets of the eighteenth and nineteenth century. But only after my interest in the subject spiked was I able to understand that I was missing deeper aspects hidden within all types of literature. [linking sentence] A form of literature I used to enjoy in its most meaningless state was music. Without giving it a second thought, I used to view music as empty entertainment until we analysed a song and poem for The Beat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The majority of the book is focused around trying to achieve the ultimate goal of success. Throughout my paper I will write about how money, power and success are key in this story. Topic 1: They want to become successful. Everyone wants to be successful. Canto 18 of The Inferno by Dante Alighieri Essay Canto 18 of The Inferno by Dante Alighieri It was once said by Marcel Proust that We do not receive wisdom, we must discover it for ourselves, after a journey through the wilderness which no one else can make for us, which no one can spare us... . This journey through the wild to discover wisdom is exactly what transpires in The Inferno by Dante Alighieri. The Inferno is an epic poem that is the first section of a three part poem called The Divine Comedy. The Inferno is about the narrator, Dante, traveling through the layers of Hell and learning about the men and women in Hell, and ultimately why God is punishing them there. Despite not reading all of The Inferno, the certain part I did read gave me a true illustration of the entire work. Particularly in Canto 18, readers observe Dante s writing techniques as well as the main ideas or themes present in the work. Canto 18 is an especially excellent illustration of Dante as a visual poet and his imagery. For example, it begins with Dante describing Malebolge as made of all stone the color of crude iron / as is the wall that makes it way around it. / Right in the middle of the evil field / is an abyss, a broad and yawning pit (2 5). Dante continues in writing more of a unique description about the geography of Hell. His descriptiveness allows readers to feel and see the cold, crude iron surrounding Malebolge and see the huge pit in the middle, too. As when I read the description of the geography, Dante s writing creates fear in me just as he does for other readers in all parts of The Inferno. Besides Dante s visual poetry, he also includes very shocking imagery that affects all five of the senses. Canto 18 holds an excellent example of Dante s imagery. At the end of the canto, Dante writes, The ditch beneath / held people plunged in excrement that seemed / as if it had been poured from human privies (112 114). In many countries, including Canada and France, there are laws specifically banning this hate speech. Saying something, anything, that can be interpreted as offensive or hateful is illegal in these countries. As Americans who enjoy freedom of speech, shouldn t we be disturbed by this and fight against it? Yes, we should, but unfortunately that is not what is happening. In fact, many people are pushing for these same laws in the United States. Though they currently do not exist, the censorship still does. We still see riots in the streets over something that was deemed offensive, or triggering ; hate speech. We still see conservative or libertarian speakers banned from universities, supposedly centers of learning, for having unpopular ideas, so called hate speech. We still see the government itself trying to stop people or groups who hold unpopular, offensive ideas, or hate speech. The president also holds the power to pardon people of crimes and or political crimes. This is where the non commissioned officer (NCO) corps must step in to ease tensions in the unit, while providing a positive outlook on the situation. The second issue discussed by the art historians is the sender of a work. In this section, Bal and Bryson define and differentiate the composition of the artist of a work. First, there is the concept of the sender as an individual, or J. Bloggs, as they call him. J. Bloggs stands for the name of the individual, a designation, not a description;[...] it does not assign any particular characteristics to its bearer (p.181). The second aspect of the sender is the author, which is in the works, in a body of artifacts and in the complex operations performed on them (p.181). It is the notions of enframement that distinguishes J.Bloggs from the author, which is what Bal and Bryson identify as an elaborate work of framing, something we can elaborately produce rather than something we simply find (p. 181). The art historian, Culler, explains that authorship is given, not produced, as he states that what counts as authorship is determined by interpretative strategies (p.181). • 21. The Chemistry And Physic Of Either River Or Lake I would like to phrase the question in another way, which is how would I determine the representative sample and then accordingly what the constituents to be sampled?. As representative sample would be the least number of data points required to give way a statistically precise picture of the water body being analyzed. The chemistry and physic of either river or lake is a function of the substances that contact with either in flowing or still water and how long been there with their exposure to the sunlight or wind. The constituents from varied sources that are entering or leaving (river/lake) can be a function of the hydrology and topography system. Water from sources such as direct/indirect precipitation, surface runoff from snowmelt, or storm water from exposed rock or packed soil, or groundwater inflow from the aquifer will react with the soil or bed/sedimentary rock and dissolved them (as the phenomena knowns weathering condition). Therefore these variable sources can add a critical deposit into the river or lake (surface water) constituents. For instance, many lakes and rivers sensitive to acidification due to the acid precipitation/ mine drainage, or to the atmospheric inputs such as (dust, SO4, NO3, Cl) leaving no time for neutralization before reaching lakes and rivers. Social Darwinism is a theory that states that individuals, groups, and people are all subject to the same Darwinian law of natural selection as plants and animals. Spencer s idea was modified to refer to free competition in the economic world. Spencer stated that free competition ensures that only the most capable individuals survive and rise to the top. He also argued that the free competition that enriches some individuals and reduces others to poverty results in the gradual improvement of the human race. One basic problem with his idea is that the skills that help individuals and firms advance and survive in the business world are not necessarily those that help humanity survive on the planet. Advancements might be achieved through a ruthless disregard for other human beings. It is also important to mention that the main problem with the Social Darwinists is the normative assumption that survival of the fittest means survival of the best. 9. Hataley, published in the Journal of Strategic Security; introduces the idea(s) of a trilateral strategic security relationship between the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The term trilateral means to involve or share three parties, therefore this is a perfect term to use when it comes to creating a strategic security plan between the three countries discussed in this paper. The Trilateral Commission has three separate regions: European, North American, and Asia Pacific; it created in the early 1970 s, as a way to increase global interdependence. • 37. William Shakespeare s Everyman, The Summoning Of Everyman Introduction and Thesis Statement The full title of Everyman is the summoning of Everyman . It is a morality play known by many people because every character involved in the play is imperative for the plot as well as the morality interpretation. However, Death takes most of critical role (Goldhamer, 1973). Everyman is the main character but without Death, the play would lack its illuminative and illustrative nature. Nonetheless, the author depicts Death as the messenger of God, cruel judge as well as rescuer of humankind. According to the author, human kind is supposed to be answerable for the mistakes committed by Adam. Indeed, the bad deed raises the sins of Everyman Perception and treatment of Death The author of the play, notwithstanding his anonymity, perceives death as God s servant and messenger. Indeed, via different descriptions, the author leaves various spaces to direct the reader about further thought in regards to the actual thought of the Death as depicted in the play. Therefore, throughout the play, Death s character is undeniable. Death is what all and sundry in this world should be anticipating. Through the Death s image, the author depicts a description of allegory and physical of moral death.
