The Landmark Herodotus is one of the most unique history books that I have read. While reading
The Landmark Herodotus, I was not sure if I was reading a history book or an epic. It was written
to record the events of the Persians and Hellenes, but it incorporated myths, oral traditions, and the
authors opinions which made me feel like I had experienced each historic event first hand.
Herodotuss writing style is unique, but in the appendix C he is criticized for sometimes being
inaccurate and distorting historic facts, because he relied on people who can have faulty
memories or sources of knowledge. Herodotus sometimes was not certain on some facts, but he
did his best to rely on logic to make the best argument on what happened. For example, Herodotus
argues that the Colchians are Egyptians. He argues this by first noting his opinion of their
resemblance and then used his logic to show how they came from the army of Sesostris. He also
points out that their whole culture and the way they did things were very similar to the Egyptians.

What I taught them prepared them for continued learning on animal classification and prepared
them to start plant classification because the familiarity of classification as a whole. In my lesson I
incorporated a phenomenon discussion to get the students to start thinking scientifically by
questioning. I used a PowerPoint in order to focus the students attention and to visualize the topic I
was discussing. The use of the instructional model impacted student learning through being an
important resource for the students. The students had a reference to see how to convey information
in written form or how to write expository writings. Having the model allowed the students to be
more comfortable with informational writing and to be able to focus on understanding the content.
The prewriting graphic organizer was used in order for the students to be able organize their ideas
and know what they are writing about before they begin their rough draft. This impacted student
learning by helping them produce a better and more thought out writing. My plan was for the
students to listen to the book being read and be able to get the majority of the information from my

Background Every day, students spend a lot of time and energy in searching for a seat at their
university library. Not only do they have to take the time to walk over to the library from their
dorm rooms only to find out that all the seats are full, but they must also traverse the floors
