Minimalism Won T Work In Our Economy
Minimalism was first introduced in the early 1960 s as a new idea of thinking and a way of creating
sculptors and art work. Artist that were a part of this movement were called Minimalists and took
pride in allowing the materials they worked with to speak for themselves. Their works involved
extremely simple gestures and ideas. They started a movement of taking something simple in its own
form and finding the beauty in it. Currently there are groups of people practicing Minimalism but
instead of an art form, they have adopted the concept into their own lives. It s safe to say our daily
lives evolve around the consumption of goods or services. In the US are economy is built on the
dependence of people buying goods, most often just stuff things ... Show more content on

A short yes would be yes, but only in the short run. The real question should be in what area of
unemployment would it affect. Again, Minimalist practice the principle of needing and wanting less of
materialistic things and striving towards a more fulfilled life away from consumerism. If more people
practice minimalism, then less is consumed. But less of what? Less of fast moving consumer goods.
The disposable industry may get hit, as would fast fashion retail stores. This would be the immediate
effect. In the long term, even more durable goods would be affected. For example, families may
choose to drive the same car for another few years rather than replace it after the usual 5 or 10. Thus,
jobs in retail, automobile, manufacturing etc. would be affected but would be required to adopted to
the new demand of higher quality of goods. Therefore, taking their business locally where the
technology would be supported by more investments, if there is less spending, then there is
automatically more saving. Banks will now hold more deposits which they can invest in other
investments, ranging from energy, real estate and agriculture. Thus, creating more jobs in these
industries as they grow. Are economy has always struggled with unemployment the real question here
is rather or not which type of employment we want to support. Consumerism based employment or a
new company that is striving to create more efficient ways of living

Pros And Cons Of Bonded Labor
INTRODUCTION
Bonded labor is defined as the labor when work by the labor is demanded back in return as repayment
of debt. It is also known as debt bondage which mean bondage till debt is paid. The advance cash
taken is known as Peshgi . This is a modern type of slavery that enslaves millions of men, women and
children each year across the world including Pakistan. The labor is trapped into working for very
long hours with little or no pay, in order to pay back their debt.
Such labors, held in bondage includes men, women, children and usually whole families, and are
mostly employed in industries such as agriculture, brick kilns, fisheries, carpet weaving industries,
shoe making, refuse sorting, power looms and stone/brick crushing. The majority of bonded labors in
Pakistan belong to some excluded groups and minorities.
According to the international Law a bonded labor in encountered with many internationally
recognized violations;

multi dimensional strategy is the solution to bonded labor s eradication. The plan focusing on all
aspects of bonded labor simultaneously. Such as lack of education, social disparity, lack of micro
finance, poverty, multiple scheme for workers and capacity building of government organizations,
rehabilitation of workers and their families, their training and education programs (formal and

Winston Churchill As A Prime Minister Of England
Sir Winston Churchill is well known for being the Prime Minister of England who led the country
through World War II and played a major role in ending the war. However, it is his internal battles that
give us far more insight into who Churchill really was. His personal struggle, possibly with bipolar
disorder, helped shape history and gave Churchill the strength to win the war. The periods of highs and
lows seen throughout Churchill s life indicate the he may have been struggling with Bipolar Disorder
(Type II). Winston Churchill himself has even said that he suffered from the black dog of depression
over the course of his life (Rubin, 2003). However, given his periods of hyperactivity it s very likely
that Churchill was actually battling bipolar II disorder. Instead letting his mental disorder control him,
Churchill overcame his bipolar disorder, and used this inspiration to lead his nation out of war.
According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (the DSM V),
Bipolar II disorder is characterized by a clinical course of recurring mood episodes consisting of one
or more major depressive episode and at least one hypomanic episode. During the mood episode(s),
the requisite number of symptoms must be present most of the day, nearly every day, and represent a
noticeable change from usual behavior and functioning (APA, 2013). Essentially, Bipolar II Disorder
is characterized by hypomanic and depressive episodes throughout a person s

The Nfl Is Exempt From Paying Taxes
As of 2014, the NFL operates as a non profit organization the NFL is exempt from paying taxes.
However, even though the Carolina Panthers is under the NFL, it is operating as a for profit business
(Patrick Doyle 2014). Therefore, like all for profit businesses, the Panthers should ideally generate a
profitable income to continue operating. As a result, the Panthers financial health or future earnings is
a quantitative criteria we included in our recommendation.
In 2013, the Panthers not only generated $283 million in revenue but also incurred over $150 million
in costs (Statista 2014). Due to the Panthers amazing playoffs in the previous years, Forbes Valuation
before Greg Hardy s incident has projected the Panthers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the table, sponsorships, merchandise, and ticket sales account for 60 percent of the
Panthers earnings. In our analysis, we conservatively assumed that Greg Hardy s domestic violence
incident will directly reduce the above mentioned revenue sources.
Greg Hardy s Effect on Panthers Sponsorships
Ever since Greg Hardy s recent domestic violence incident, most of the Panthers major corporate
sponsors (Bank of America, PepsiCo, MillerCoors, Carolinas Medical Center, Anheuser Busch InBev,
and U.S. Airways) issued their statements of disapproval and urged the team to address this issue
appropriately.
Although Erik Spanberg and Adam O Daniel (2014) stated that none of the Panthers financial
sponsors will likely pull away from their donations, these major corporate sponsors don t want to
further tarnish their reputation with the NFL s bad publicity. Nonetheless, if a NFL s future decision
regarding domestic violence, a widely debated topic in the NFL, generates more negative publicity,
these major corporations are willing to stop sponsoring their teams. For example, due to the Adrian
Peterson s famous domestic violence and child abuse case, major sponsor Nike issued the following
statement:
Nike in no way condones child abuse or domestic violence of any kind and has shared our concerns
with the NFL. We have suspended our contract with Adrian Peterson (Molly Geary 2014).

Compare And Contrast Direct Democracy Vs Representative...
Representative Democracy is better for the United States than a Direct Democracy.
Democracies are based on the citizen s ability to judge things such as laws, propositions, bonds,
budgets, representatives, and candidates. The type of democracy helps determine what the citizens are
judging. In a direct democracy citizens would be judging the candidates and issues themselves and in
a representative democracy, the citizens are judging the representatives and their ability to stay true to
the citizens wants and needs. The founding fathers were so sure in their decision to make a
representative democracy that they deliberately made ratifying the constitution very difficult. It takes a
very large majority of Senate and the House to get a proposal sent to the people for a vote that would
make the change and then the people have to approve the change with at least 75% voting in favor in
order to ratify the constitution. There are many reasons why a direct ... Show more content on

The current generation of young voters feel that the old way of doing things is out dated. They feel
that Representative democracy was needed when remote constituents could not be consulted. With the
internet the public can now decide directly on all major issues. The representative system is outdated,
and it is ready to be replaced by true democracy. (Citation #2) Even in this modern day and age with

Alcan Case Analysis Essay
Alcan Case Analysis Executive Summary Like many of its competitors and comparable manufacturers
in the discrete and process metal production, process metal and service related businesses, Alcan is
continually challenged with how to unify their diverse business units and processes to gain
competitive advantage. The dynamics of many process related industries include growing through
mergers and acquisition, which has also been an area that continues cause Alcan challenges from an IT
perspective as well. Alcan s critical business processes and strategies include sourcing the best
possible materials, approving and working with suppliers, while also negotiating with them for the
best possible price. Of the many raw materials the company relies on, Bauxite is the most strategically
important across the business units Alcan operates today. During the time period of the case study,
Alcan generated $23.6B in revenue, operated in 61 countries and had 68,000 employees. They had
grown aggressively through acquisition, creating approximately 1,000 duplicate systems, with 400 of
them being just for pricing. Given this massive duplication of IT resources, Alcan pays SAP AG
hundreds of millions of dollars a year in maintenance fees alone. These are the key factors of the case
and set the foundation for the assessment of the pros and cons of the current Alcan IT infrastructure.
An analysis of the proposed Alcan infrastructure is also provided, in addition to a recommendation for

If There Is An Artist
If there is an artist, who can challenge the coexistence of beauty and ugliness, it s Bart Hess. Hess is
not only a believer of the beauty in ugly, he pushes his fascination for the human body constantly,
exploring and manipulating textile design, to create tactile textures and surfaces within material which
blur the boundary between human and new species. His work becomes a questionable object of
perception. During his graduation project at Eindhoven Design Academy, Hess worked on a series of
fake furs, made out of metals, silicone and plastics. The idea of the soft, fluffy, tactile quality of fur
being lost, transcending when coming into contact, it becomes a cold, sharp, dangerous object. Row

Then photographing their bodies using the most peculiar of materials, they created fascinating and
simultaneously repugnant images of Globules of Foam engulfing the body, asymmetric spines, bulged
oversized muscled forms. What becomes more apparent within the photographs, the disturbing blank
expressions, the non existent emotional state of the subject, just starring back at you. It is not horrified
or excited about the change of their form, they are merely present and allow themselves to be shown
to you. It s a purely visceral and visually arresting experience, that sort of lucid acceptance, clearly not
hiding the kind of imperfections and oddities that society mostly trains us to be ashamed of. They are
unnervingly confident about themselves. Lucy and Bart s photographs, no matter how unnerving they
might be, present us with a strong character, something to possibly compare with the likes of Picasso
and Da Vinci s painted subjects. The rest is up to the viewer.
There s something so primal and immediate about seeing human bodies mutated. It calls into
questions all of our ideals about beauty and they way we judge people based on their surfaces. This
odd sort of artistic mingling where the colours are beautiful, but the shapes are grotesque is really
jarring. Or maybe it s the way they seem to know something about their aberrations that we don t.
Like we ve yet to have any idea the kind of powers that lie inside their new bodies and hands and

Mary Louise Pratt Edward Said Essay
The key tools to maintaining your identity There are many tools that one can use to maintain their
identity, nationally and internationally. A nation or land is where people have established their life,
their culture and their heart; sadly it has happened where people have been forced out of their
homeland. Great opening sentences. Mary Louise Pratt, Kenji Yoshino and Edward Said all present
very good methods of maintaining one s national identity in their essays. In Mary Louise Pratt s essay
Arts of the Contact Zone she gives examples of people who are in a contact zone. Contact zones are
where people are meeting other cultures, and they have to remember not to lose their own. (this was a

If Pratt had a say in what was happening to the Palestine s in Edward Said s essay, I believe Pratt
would encourage the Palestinians to find safe houses. Superb connection! This part of the quote doesn
t quite fit, I would start the quote here, and set it up by saying that Pratt uses the concept of safe
houses as social and intellectual spaces where groups can constitute themselves as horizontal,
homogeneous, sovereign communities with high degrees of trust, shared understandings, temporary
protection from legacies of oppression . (Pratt) A safe house is somewhere you (avoid you)can go to
feel safe, where you will be surrounded by people just like yourself. Another one of Pratt s Arts of the
Contact Zone is also a key in maintaining your national identity is Transculturation. Transculturation
is the combining of two cultures or traits from two different cultures. This can help in maintaining
national identity by having the cultures meet half way, instead of conforming and letting your identity
slip away from you. Here, pull an example of transculturation from Said s text. For instance, the use of
the Mercedes. Even though Said describes it in negative terms, the use of the Mercedes has come in
handy for Palestinians. This is just a suggestion, you may find another example.

Political Corruption By Government Officials For...
Throughout history, several sovereign nations across the world have been subject to political
corruption by government officials for illegitimate personal gain. Corruption used to be a low profile
line item. However, today it has reached heights at which the government must get involved to try and
cover it up to ensure its secrecy and avoid exploitation. This instance is referred to as Crony
Capitalism, which is a theory that has evolved from corruption over a period of time. This idea
involves more intervention by the government who achieves its purpose by providing incentives and
subsidies to their known business partners in specific operating fields. They favour this particular set

They drift away from the rule of law which they themselves have established to maintain social
control over their country. The government chooses to monopolize over businesses in pursuit of
getting a larger share of money. However, most of the time these turn into sunken costs, which they
then try to cover by raising tax rates. Countries that were regarded as miracles are nothing more than
havens now, for crony capitalists to get rich the easy way (Kang, 3). An example of this is in Canada,
where a big incentive in the form of tax credit is given to the Film Producing Industry. The
government has been providing tax payers money and direct subsidies in an effort to induce film
production in their province. Currently, film and television tax credits cover up to 35% of labour costs
all over Canada, except for Quebec where it covers up to 45%. This does not include the additional tax
credits that are provided to cover up the total production costs. In Alberta, the film and television
industry demanded $18 million for a project worth $32 million of building a film studio in Calgary.
The government has provided them with $10 million from property tax which means that the
remaining $22 million will be obtained from taxpayers at their cost. The film industry in Alberta
claims that this is beneficial since every buck that taxpayers contribute towards subsidies will result in
a 10 fold return to the economy. This demonstrates how Crony

dampening of vibrations on the joints (Wilson, 2009). On October 27, wind speeds were recorded at
higher than 50 mph (Alfrey, 2010). Due to this wind, the was an excess in vibrations happening inside
of the joints. This, and the temperature that day, and the amount of traffic at that time caused the

open warfare with neither side wanting to give ground. If you or someone you know is in an untenable

Integration of Women into the Armed Forces Essay

Women currently represent fifteen percent of military personnel, and their presence is increasing
among new recruits, up twenty five percent in the A ir Force. Among officers and enlisted personnel,
fifty five percent, or 107, 733 women report some form of sexual harassment. Recent accusations of
sexual misconduct against drill sergeants at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, and a separate case against

The Army examination of the drill sergeant selection sys tem found it did not consider a candidate s
maturity or complete a thorough background check. There was no close investigation of instances
where drill sergeants had beaten their wives, which was a particular problem with some of the accused
at the Aberd een Proving Ground. The military s position is that the problems of sexual harassment int
eh military can be attributed to a lack of leadership, detailed in two army investigations (Barry and
Thomas 49; Schitt A1, A19).
Opponents of the military s lack fo leadership reasoning believe the problems lie in how the military
environment facilitates sexual harassment, in addition to making it difficult for women to resist or
report instances of sexual advanes. They fee l the creed of drill sergeants, the power of the military
structure, and the fat that military women can not just walk away from their jobs contributes to drill
sergeants having powers over women that result in sexual harassment. These issues are explain ed by
civilian psychiatrist Major Elsbeth Ritchie in testimony at the court martial of a drill sergeant from the
Aberdeen Proving Grounds. Ritchie explains that fear of sexual harassment in the military is elevated
due to a drill sergeant creed of I am Mother, I am Father, and God to recruits (qtd. Sciolino, pg. A14).
Furthermore, the military structure is so

The History of Rolls-Royce
Rolls Royce Limited is a renowned British car manufacturing company and later, aero engine
manufacturing company founded by Charles Stewart Rolls and Sir Frederick Henry Royce on 15
March 1906 as the result of a partnership formed in 1904. In 1906 they launched the six cylinder
Silver Ghost that, within a year, was hailed as the best car in the world. Once again like the other
companies I have covered Rolls Royce also created an outstanding product, which launched them on
to the engineering scene, this was again a vital stage of the companies success. It would have brought
them income that could then be reinvested in future developments, which allowed the company to
grow and develop. At the start of the First World War the demand from the nation for military planes
was increasing, this encouraged Royce to design his first aero engine, it was called the Eagle and it
provided for almost half of the total engines in the skies at this point in time. The eagle also was the
power behind the first direct transatlantic flight as well as the first flight from England to Australia.
The late 1920s saw Rolls Royce develop the R engine to power Britain s entry in the International
Schneider Trophy seaplane contest. It established a new world air speed record of over 400mph in
1931. More importantly, these records gave Royce the funds and technological base to develop the

Don t you ever say one word to me about it again, you hear? Now go on! (331 Lee). The biggest
examples are with the Finch family during the trial and Tom Robinson. Injustice is a lack of fairness
or justice. Tom Robinson faces the worst case of injustice. He was convicted of rape because of his
skin color. When the book takes place, black people are still considered less than white people. Tom
was able to get the best lawyer in Maycomb: Atticus. Mr. Gilmer was being unfair to Tom during the
trial. He asked him questions that made Tom uncomfortable, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Atticus was assigned the case and he could have rejected it but, he had wanted this case since the
beginning. It was strange for a white man to defend a black man back then. Once he accepted the case,
people thought of him as a stupid and dishonorable for defending a black man. His own sister called
him a disgrace to the family. You see, don t you, said Aunt Alexandra, what comes of things like this.
Don t say i haven t told you (211).Atticus was able to stop a group of people from killing Tom. They
didn t care if he was guilty or not. They just wanted to kill him because he was black. During and after
the trial, Atticus and the kids faced even more injustice. Mr. Gilmer was unfair to Atticus during the
trial. When Atticus tried to talk, Mr. Gilmer would yell at him to be quiet. After the trial was over, Jem
and Scout got attacked by Bob Ewell. He attacked them because the kids were against him in the trial.
Boo Radley came in quickly, saved the kids, and killed Bob Ewell. The people of Maycomb would
give the Finch family weird looks on the street and talk dirty behind their back. When Calpurnia
brought Jem and Scout to her church, one of the black people got in their faces and asked them to
leave. He reads all right, that s all he does, (218). To Kill a Mockingbird had many events that had
injustice. The Finch family and Tom Robinson faced a lot of injustice before, during, and after the

Enter Hypocrites, Phone Geeks
Prelude...
Ever since a young age, I have been astounded by the lack of sincerity and common since that others
lack. With technology growing rapidly each day, people have evolved into lazy, ignorant, lackadaisical
human beings. As I have grown into a young adult in modern society, I have experienced multiple
events that have made me want to pull my hair out. It doesn t take much to get under my skin, but
some of these events are excruciating and would annoy any other person with a common since.
Hypocrites, phone geeks, and other persons are what annoy me worse. I have always wondered how
somebody can act in such of these ways without receiving any kind of punishment or ill treatment. It

Enter Hypocrites. This sign said. My body began to fuel with hatred and numerous emotions. There is
nothing on this life I despise more then people who do what they say they are against. As we entered
the final gate, I was highly amused at what was before me. The people in this circle had the body of a
bull, and a human head with their mouths sewn shut. They galloped around in a pit with very little
space and they were covered in feces. I figured the mouths were seen shut because of how these
people wasted their words and lied all throughout their lives. They had the body of a bull, well,
because they were full of bull shit obviously. Of all of the famous people I witnessed in this circle,
none stuck out to me more than Henry David Thoreau. Thoreau s reputation is remembered as one
who was a great environmentalist in our world we live in, but down here it is a completely different
story. When he was alive, he criticized people were disrespecting nature. He once set fire to a forest,
nearly burning half of it down. To make matters worse, he worked in a pencil factory which required
logging and trees to be cut down. He also claimed to be a self reliant human being, where this was
completely false. He lived on land owned by Ralph Waldo Emerson, and his mother did his own
laundry. I was highly amused to see his bull shit finally come full

Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto s Attack On Pearl Harbor
The morning of December 7th, 1941 started out just like any other day on the south side of Oahu
Hawaii but at 7:55 a.m. it all changed. Japanese fighter planes made an attack on the United States
Naval Base, Pearl Harbor which would lead to a bloody war between the United States and Japan. By
the end of the day, with the United States now on the cusp of entering World War II, a total of 2,335
U.S. servicemen and sixty eight civilians would lie dead. Tensions between the United States and
Japan had been going on for years and both countries were aware of the threat of the other. War with
Japan had been expected to break out at any time. Pearl Harbor had been expected to be within range
of a Japanese fleet full of air craft carriers, and Pearl Harbor was expected to be a location where the

Angela s Duty In Angelas Ashes
William Faulkner possesses a strong idea that a writer is given the privilege and duty of making man
prevail. According to Faulkner this is the only thing that makes writing worth the effort put into it, and
if an author cannot accomplish this duty there is no need for writing at all. Faulkner simplifies this
complex obligation by presenting man as he really is through the thruths of his heart, which means
including what really happens to man from agony to compassion and sacrifice and endurance. Many
authors, including Frank McCourt, take on this duty and create a piece of literature that depicts man as
his true self in order to assure he prevails instead of merely edur[ing]. Frank McCourt honors this duty
as a writer throughout his memoir, Angela s Ashes. McCourt describes his journey to adult hood in a
genuine way that shows not only the positive, but also the agonizing parts of his life. McCourt
includes these completely contrasting types of experiences in order to help him accomplish the writer
s duty because they both involve immense amounts of feeling. The writer s duty in McCourt s work is
expressed throughout the entire work from McCourt s life as a child in the beginning of his memoir to
the end as he becomes a true man. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Physical Fitness
Since the whole body is used while dancing, physical fitness is a necessity in regards to proper
execution of steps, reducing the risk of injury, and increasing the longevity of a performer s career.
According to Koutedakis, physical fitness is an individual s ability to meet demands of specific
physical tasks. Aerobic strength allows dancers to work harder for longer periods of time; an increase
in stamina helps dancers get through demanding pieces and classes. ___Muscular strength can also be
applied in regards to fitness as it helps reduce injuries and focuses on exercise specific to a certain
outcome (Irvine). A common misconception is that dancers do not need strength training because
bulging muscles are contradictory to the smooth, elongated lines of the dancer aesthetic. In actuality,
there are two types of muscles that can be built: slow and fast muscle fibers. Slow muscles are leaner
and are more flexible. Fast muscles are the ones that bulge; they are used largely in jumping, hence
male dancers having large quadriceps that aide in their high jumps. Resistance training is often used as
a way to increase muscle strength without increasing muscle mass in a drastic way. Overloading is the
only way to increase muscle strength during training; a muscle must reach its maximum capacity of
contraction in order for true generation of muscle to begin. It is also imperative that the muscles that
come in pairs, an example being the quadriceps and hamstrings of the legs, grow

The Argument Of Federal Progressive Income Tax
Legal Illusion
The arguments regarding federal progressive income tax has been represented to us through the United
States Supreme Court, on the floors of congress, and in media. The revenue from taxes reached the
objective of financing wars from the Civil War through World War II. At the same time deteriorating
the economy with fewer dollars that could be used on imports, exports, and services (Henchman).
Today, the United States deficit is $18,800,241,350,538.12 this is a grand total of 58,405.32 owed by
every man, woman, and child (Brown). The legal illusion is presenting the question, is income tax
legal? There are Americans today who believe income tax is not legal and stand by their beliefs in a
movement that has cost many individuals considerably. I am interviewing such a person, his name is
Bobby Ray and the history he presented to me was interesting, and has left me with more questions

Theme Of Gender In The Chrysanthemums
Today, sex is a much talked about subject, and roughly half of high school students participate in the
act. Although in modern society the value of saving one s self for marriage is dated and carried out by
few, in The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck, this ideal is presented frequently. The story begins
with an awkward conversation between Elisa and her husband. When her husband leaves, a tinker
driving up to Elisas estate while she is working away on her chrysanthemum garden. In an attempt to
fix any of her pots and pans containing holes, the man approaches Elisa. She is first annoyed with him,

shown in the tinkers, rangy dog (421), for it is unclean and rampant just how Elisa perceives the act of

battered hat (422), which again, shows the tattered nature of sex. When conversing with the tinker,
Elisas breast swelled passionately (423), for she has some sort of sexual awakening. Elisa even
crouches low for the tinkler like a fawning dog (423), because she is so deeply sexually repressed.
Elisa even feels hot and sharp and lovely (423) which sounds quite comparable to descriptions of sex.
Later in this scene, while talking about the chrysanthemums, Elisa throws her head back her eyes half
closed (424), which uncoincidentally, is similar to orgasm. As the tinker drives away, there s a glowing

that the tinker and Elisa have partaken in a psychological sex act. After this sexual conversation with

Two Standards Of Auditing
As accountants and auditors, we are held to, and must comply with, two standards of professional
conduct. Those standards are generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and generally
accepted auditing standards (GAAS). GAAP enforces the uniform standards for preparing and
presenting financial statements. GAAS governs the ways and means are used by public accountants
when conducting an audit. GAAS establishes the standards for field work and mandates that sufficient
evidence be found to provide reasonable assurance for issuing an audit opinion.
Liability to Clients
Please remember, as accountants we are held liable to our clients when we enter into contracts and are
hired to perform services. The liability we face can come from items such as breach of contract, fraud
and negligence. When an accountant enters into a contract, also known as an engagement, with a
client the terms of said engagement are specified. In a contract an accountant has explicit and implicit
duties. The accountant must perform all explicit duties in the contract. The implicit duties of the
contract are implied, and the accountant agrees to perform them in a proficient and professional
manner. If an accountant fails to perform the duties of the contract, he or she may be held in breach of
the contract.
An accountant may be found liable for two types of fraud. These two types are actual and
constructive. Actual fraud occurs when there is a deliberate omission or misrepresentation of a

These forms are processed by employees in your department. Currently the turnaround time on any

Project Call Center is designed to reduce this turnaround time by 75% by creating and staffing a call

hiring and training of staff are estimated to cost $8.5 million dollars. This $8.5 million dollars can be

Analysis Of Elizabeth Kolbert s The Sixth Extinction
In pushing other species to extinction, humanity is busy sawing off the limb on which it perches (The

the main message conveyed in Elizabeth Kolbert s most recent and most successful book, The Sixth
Extinction: An Unnatural History. Elizabeth Kolbert is an experienced journalist and author who is
currently working as a staff writer at The New Yorker. While Elizabeth Kolbert has written on a

This extinction event has been dubbed the Sixth Extinction by many catastrophists (scientists who
study mass extinction events) and is considered to have the disastrous potential to wipe out the
majority or all of life on Earth: including humans. One of the reasons why Kolbert was able to
effectively convey this message to her readers is because her book exposes her readers to several
environmental problems that are relatively unknown to the general public, by using several first hand
accounts of her visits to several fragile and diverse ecosystems across the world, where the effects of
climate change and other environmental issues can be visibly observed to be taking a significant toll
on local biodiversity.
An example of this in The Sixth Extinction can be seen when Elizabeth Kolbert discusses the major
environmental impacts caused through the intentional or accidental introduction of invasive alien
species to new environments. According to the Convention on Biological Diversity, a treaty created by
the United Nations Environment Programme, an invasive alien species is any introduced species that
has established itself in a foreign ecosystem and is an agent of change [that] threatens native
biological diversity where it has been introduced. Even though the introduction of non native species
is a major problem across the globe, most people are largely unaware of its effects. When the issue of
invasive species is brought up in The Sixth Extinction,

Newton s First Law
1) Newton s First Law is: Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of
motion unless an external force is applied to it. A real world example of this is that a soccer ball does
not move until it is kicked. Newton s Second Law is that the relationship between an object s mass m,
its acceleration a, and the applied force F is F = ma. Acceleration and force are vectors; in this law the
direction of the force vector is the same as the direction of the acceleration vector. This applies to the
design of a bullet. A bullet has low mass with high acceleration behind it, leading to high force on
impact. Newton s Third Law is that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This law
can be understood as when an individual presses against a wall that they do not fall through the wall as
the wall pushes back against your action.
2) A 10 kg bowling ball is slowing down at a constant rate. In two seconds, its velocity drops from 5
m/s to 4.8 m/s. What is the total force acting on the ball, in N?
Variables: m = mass = 10 kg Vo = initial velocity = 5 m/s V = final velocity = 4.8 m/s t = time of
observation = 2 s a = acceleration = ? m/s2 F = force acting = ? N
Relationships:
a = (V Vo)/t F = ma
Computations:
3) The weight G of an object is BY DEFINITION
G = m*g where g is the acceleration of gravity

Morality In Jack London s The Call Of The Wild
Jack London, in his book The call of the wild , portrays, that the strongest, smartest, and the one who
is not shy of compromising their morals in the wilderness, will always prosper. In this novel, Buck, the
protagonist, a Saint Bernard/ scotch shepherd mix, is taken from his home in California, and becomes
a sled dog , and eventually the lead sled dog, in Alaska. Buck is constantly learning about life in the

that. He also learns that the strong survive well when he kills Spitz. In the book, Buck always ate slow
and deliberately, but seeing another dog steal food, to get more, and being fed much less than he is

integrity is compromised.

The Apartheid Of The South African Apartheid Essay
Introduction
Canada s Apartheid which can also be known as Canada s Indian Act of 1876. This system of racial
intolerance inspired the South Africa s oppressive regime and lead way to the better known Apartheid
in South Africa. However, since the South African Apartheid was based on our model shouldn t it
simply be known as The Apartheid ? It is interesting to note the varying global images each of these
tragic systems have had. As a student, born and raised in Canada, it is deeply troubling that I first
learned about the South African Apartheid before I learned about Canada s. It is therefore, fascinating
to see how the South African Apartheid created a global awareness and gained support against the
system of segregation while the Indian Act opponents where silenced and the world failed to notice.
Both political systems of discrimination where based on race, both had detrimental compounded
effects on current and succeeding generations. While all groups of race where segregated, not all
groups where segregated evenly. Throughout this paper I will be looking to examine the similarities
between the Coloured group of the Apartheid and the Metis Nation of the Indian Act.

The Post-Civil War Era
American actor and playwright, Ayad Akhtar reflected, I see the American experience as being defined
by the immigrant paradigm of rupture and renewal: rupture with the old world, the old ways, and
renewal of the self in a bright but difficult New World. While Akhtar was reflecting on the current
society in America, the experience in the Post Civil War era was similar in it s ability to fight the old
and make room for the new. To give a connotative definition, the American Experience was the act of
fighting and using every opportunity for oneself to survive in a competitive and ever changing market
of social, political, and artistic construct. Many artists, authors and other creators influenced this

During Reconstruction, the point of it was to integrate former slaves into normal societal life.
Unfortunately, because many African Americans were never fully compensated for slavery, much of
the black population lived in rural poverty in the South and faced discrimination from Black codes and
labor contracts (Recchiuti). Like explained before, this struggle within the black community shaped
the American experience. What Homer did was capture the daily lives of Post Civil war African
Americans in order to convey how they successfully survived in a place that formerly segregated itself
from the union to keep them as slaves. In his watercolours, The Conch Divers (1885) and The Water
Fan (1898 99), Winslow understood the importance of using every aspect to emanate the political
hardships that the black community still faced. His portrayal of black workers on a ship in The Conch
Divers shows how they were still treated like slaves in the way that they all lack shirts and what
clothing they had is torn, the work that they are doing is painstaking, and no doubt that Homer had in
mind the very minimal compensation the workers were receiving when he used such pale colours to
depict the scene. Here Winslow Homer is showing the working struggle of an African American and
how they are still surviving with what little they were given. This

If there was a disconnection between the East and West, then Lawrence was the bridge of
understanding for the British. It was shown even from the beginning how he could and would be the
perfect middle man for the British and the Arab people. In his humble start Lawrence studied history
and archeology at Oxford, and participated in an archeological dig in Syria, studying from 1910 1914.
While studying in Syria he learned an extensive amount about Middle Eastern culture and learned the
Arabic language that would aid him in later years. Showing a man eager to learn and with a deep love
of knowledge and curiosity. It is these qualities that allow Lawrence to immerse himself so deeply into
the culture when he works with the Arabs. It also makes it so much easier for him to be sympathetic
toward their plight. War broke out at the end of his studying. He at this time had returned home and
felt the need to protect his homeland. Because his past studies, in December of 1914 was sent to Cairo
as an intelligence officer with the Arab bureau. It is here that Lawrence meets the Arab people he will
be fighting with as the British have sided with the two largest tribes Husayn and Hijaz . At first he did
not feel comfortable or really fit to the job he had been given, as he says:
I was sent as a stranger, unable to think their thoughts or subscribe to their beliefs, but charged by duty
to lead them forward and to develop to the highest movement of theirs profitable to England in

Happy Life Essay
A Happy Life That I Once Thought Was Impossible
I believe that an ideal life is mostly based on happiness. It took me a while to discover what truely
makes me happy because in my childhood, I perceived happiness as something unreachable by
mankind. Especially, because of my struggle. We live in a world of so much problems and crisis. And.
. . I come from a place that s full of it Africa. If we think of it, real happiness doesn t come to us in an
easy way. I agree with Tzu s definition of happiness in his book: a desire or a fortune that remains
eternity. According to Tzu, happiness is a fortune just as wealth and fame. Just to be honest, I had once
thought that an everlasting happiness I unattainable. But, that was before I discovered that self
satisfaction and contentment results in a happier life. I achieved my happiness after I went through
some situations and circumstances that hit my life for good. Before I share my story, I d like to make a
salient point that God is the bedrock of the overflowing fountain of happiness that prevails in my life.
Through prayer and hard work I achieved an indescribable life of so many blessings and it all
happened in the year 2014.
Just like I said, the year 2014 was a blessed year of my life. God gave me an opportunity to live a life
full of so much fulfilment and happiness. During that year, I was able to overcome a lot of
circumstances. For a long time I had hoped for things to get better after I lost my dad. Things began to

Calculating and Interpreting a Project Network Diagram
In the world of project management, utilizing the three point technique can prove to be an invaluable
tool. In addition to the three point technique applying the earliest start (ES), earliest finish (EF), latest
start (LS), and latest finish (LF) procedure to identify the critical path, the project completion time,
and the slack for each task can prove to be set of invaluable data that will assist the project manager in
accurately determining task duration estimates for the entire scope of work for the project. In this
week s assignment we will explore a construction company and the associated time estimates for each
task as it relates to their entire project.
In Table 1.0 you will find the results of our initial analysis which includes ... Show more content on

Scenario 3 All tasks delayed by 1 week: If each task is delayed by one week the entire project
completion time line will be affected. Most notably tasks C, F, and H will be affected as they have a
slack value of 0. More importantly task J the final task in the project network diagram has a value of 0
and a LF of 39 which would not be met because of the delay.
Scenario 4 The duration for task C is reduced by 25%: Because task C has a slack value of 0 reducing
its duration time from 12 weeks to 8 weeks would pose a threat to the project completion time line.
However, since task D has a slack value of 13 and starts in week 8 along with task C, the project
manager can utilize the slack time available within task D to shift resource to assist in completed task
C in 8 weeks. This action will keep the project completion date from slipping from its original
completion date in week 39.
Our final exercise will include a brief discussion on risk management. After analyzing the data tasks
C, F, and H pose a potential risk to the project as there is no slack available. My risk response is to
avoid; therefore, I would have the resources for task D assist task C, the resources from E and G assist
F, which would provide slack for H. This approach would greatly reduce the chances of any of the
tasks

Taking a Look at Audience Analysis
Audience analysis is one of the most important elements of effective communication which involves
assembling and interpreting information about the recipients of oral, written, or visual communication.
In order to derive an effective speech or writing, it is imperative to determine the associated
characteristics of an audience. Audience analysis can help you gain valuable insight about your
readers, which can help you to choose and develop a relevant, meaningful topic. It can also help you
to create a writing plan that is tailored effectively to your reading audience, with appropriate tone,
style, language and content.
Generally, audience analysis is the collection and interpretation of audience characteristics through
observation, inferences, questionnaires, or interviews. There are three main ways to adapt to audience
before starting the communication process (Steven A. and Susan J. Beebe, 1997):
Demographic analysis
Disposition analysis
Knowledge analysis
Demographic analysis: It involves age, gender, culture, ethnicity, race, religion and educational level
of the audience. More likely, it gives an idea about:
Is my audience homogenous or heterogeneous? How are the readers alike or different from one
another? Despite the differences, what do readers have in common?
What range of ages is represented?
What are my readers political and religious affiliations?
What is my role in relationship to my reading audience?
Each of these factors affects reader s

Mechanical Valves Research Papers
Mechanical valves are manufactures from artificial materials and constant of combination of metal
alloys, paralytic carbon, and Dacron. (Lewis et al, pg 825). The one of the main advantage of
mechanical valves is that they will last a patient s lifetime. Mechanical valves are builds to last as the
patients with life expectancies beyond 10 15 years. In addition, they eliminate the mortality risk
inherent in the replacement of a worn out tissue valve. The best mechanical valves, such as the On X
valve, have excellent flow performance, rivaling that of the native valve even in the small sizes
(Spindler, 2017). The one of problem with mechanical valves is that patient have to go through

In addition, I believe that age do play good role in patient having valve replacement. The older you are
the less affected and life expectancy is shorting with each day pass bye. Therefore, patient who are 65
or older have less affected valve replacement and their body is getting weaker and less affected to
medication or treatment. The body will started to reject valve replacement by having complication,

Women # 39
WOMEN IN HISTORY
AMELIA SHAHAN
CRITICAL ANALYSIS ESSAY 1
COLUMBIA COLLEGE
In the late 19th and early 20th century it was found that women were not being found in historical
texts. During the 1950 s and 1960 s there was interest in women s suffering, but there would not be a
true movement until the late 1960 s with the Women s Liberation Movement Success. What started out
as a tea party of four female friends in 1848 turned into a movement.
The Women s Liberation Movement sought to change the lack of history of women and to keep the
promise of a better future for women. They first wrote the Declaration of Sentiments , using the
Declaration of Independence as a guide. In this were 18 grievances. The Women s Liberation
Movement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even with the growth of research, women history was still seen as separate from main history. In the
1990 s a call for a history based on gender so that a focus of both could be understood. A gender
centered history can be controversial to some feminists, the concern is that women experiences may
be lost. (Mary Menard, 1995)
Various groups have now formed to help expand women s history. The Women s History Network was
created for all those who are interested in Women History. We see Women history today in modern
curriculum. Professors who focus on Women s History has also increased. With opportunists for
women in higher education that is a trend that shall continue. Women s history is constantly
developing and change will continue with this third wave of activism.

Music Therapy Observation
The related service observed during the field experience with students with low incidence disabilities
was music therapy. The observation setting provided the students with ample space and a multitude of
instruments to choose from. The lights would be turned off and a string of small lights would
illuminate the room along with various instruments that lit up. The music therapist was extremely
engaging and encouraged the students to play with the instruments found within the room.
The students were from a low functioning, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) transitions class and
many were non verbal. When it came time to go to music therapy, the students seemed eager. Music
provides a multi sensory stimulation that is beneficial for students with ASD. The music therapist

Music therapy helps individuals with disabilities to identify and express his or her emotions as well as
to assist in the development of verbal communication, speech and language skills. The data collection
tool implemented to track the progress of students focused on student participation and independence
levels. These levels were tracked weekly and broken down into 5 sections: Independent, Verbal,
Gestural, Physical, and No Participation. Data was also collected when measuring a student s response
to musical selection and to see if a rhythm was followed in either double or triple meter.
Overall, the music therapy that was observed was truly informative. I have never been exposed to this
form of therapy and I was impressed. Not only does music therapy provide students with disabilities
an outlet for emotional expression, but it also helps to address student IEP goals when it comes to
social skills, speech and language skills, and verbal communication. The students were receptive of
the therapy and seemed to enjoy the atmosphere within the music

  • 2. Minimalism Won T Work In Our Economy Minimalism was first introduced in the early 1960 s as a new idea of thinking and a way of creating sculptors and art work. Artist that were a part of this movement were called Minimalists and took pride in allowing the materials they worked with to speak for themselves. Their works involved extremely simple gestures and ideas. They started a movement of taking something simple in its own form and finding the beauty in it. Currently there are groups of people practicing Minimalism but instead of an art form, they have adopted the concept into their own lives. It s safe to say our daily lives evolve around the consumption of goods or services. In the US are economy is built on the dependence of people buying goods, most often just stuff things ... Again, Minimalist practice the principle of needing and wanting less of materialistic things and striving towards a more fulfilled life away from consumerism. If more people practice minimalism, then less is consumed. But less of what? Less of fast moving consumer goods. The disposable industry may get hit, as would fast fashion retail stores. This would be the immediate effect. In the long term, even more durable goods would be affected. For example, families may choose to drive the same car for another few years rather than replace it after the usual 5 or 10. Thus, jobs in retail, automobile, manufacturing etc. would be affected but would be required to adopted to the new demand of higher quality of goods. Therefore, taking their business locally where the technology would be supported by more investments, if there is less spending, then there is automatically more saving. Banks will now hold more deposits which they can invest in other investments, ranging from energy, real estate and agriculture. Thus, creating more jobs in these industries as they grow. It is also known as debt bondage which mean bondage till debt is paid. The advance cash taken is known as Peshgi . This is a modern type of slavery that enslaves millions of men, women and children each year across the world including Pakistan. The labor is trapped into working for very long hours with little or no pay, in order to pay back their debt. Such labors, held in bondage includes men, women, children and usually whole families, and are mostly employed in industries such as agriculture, brick kilns, fisheries, carpet weaving industries, shoe making, refuse sorting, power looms and stone/brick crushing. • 4. Winston Churchill As A Prime Minister Of England Sir Winston Churchill is well known for being the Prime Minister of England who led the country through World War II and played a major role in ending the war. However, it is his internal battles that give us far more insight into who Churchill really was. His personal struggle, possibly with bipolar disorder, helped shape history and gave Churchill the strength to win the war. The periods of highs and lows seen throughout Churchill s life indicate the he may have been struggling with Bipolar Disorder (Type II). Winston Churchill himself has even said that he suffered from the black dog of depression over the course of his life (Rubin, 2003). However, given his periods of hyperactivity it s very likely that Churchill was actually battling bipolar II disorder. Instead letting his mental disorder control him, Churchill overcame his bipolar disorder, and used this inspiration to lead his nation out of war. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (the DSM V), Bipolar II disorder is characterized by a clinical course of recurring mood episodes consisting of one or more major depressive episode and at least one hypomanic episode. During the mood episode(s), the requisite number of symptoms must be present most of the day, nearly every day, and represent a noticeable change from usual behavior and functioning (APA, 2013). However, even though the Carolina Panthers is under the NFL, it is operating as a for profit business (Patrick Doyle 2014). Therefore, like all for profit businesses, the Panthers should ideally generate a profitable income to continue operating. As a result, the Panthers financial health or future earnings is a quantitative criteria we included in our recommendation. In 2013, the Panthers not only generated $283 million in revenue but also incurred over $150 million in costs (Statista 2014). According to the table, sponsorships, merchandise, and ticket sales account for 60 percent of the Panthers earnings. In our analysis, we conservatively assumed that Greg Hardy s domestic violence incident will directly reduce the above mentioned revenue sources. Greg Hardy s Effect on Panthers Sponsorships Ever since Greg Hardy s recent domestic violence incident, most of the Panthers major corporate sponsors (Bank of America, PepsiCo, MillerCoors, Carolinas Medical Center, Anheuser Busch InBev, and U.S. Airways) issued their statements of disapproval and urged the team to address this issue appropriately. Although Erik Spanberg and Adam O Daniel (2014) stated that none of the Panthers financial sponsors will likely pull away from their donations, these major corporate sponsors don t want to further tarnish their reputation with the NFL s bad publicity. Nonetheless, if a NFL s future decision regarding domestic violence, a widely debated topic in the NFL, generates more negative publicity, these major corporations are willing to stop sponsoring their teams. For example, due to the Adrian Peterson s famous domestic violence and child abuse case, major sponsor Nike issued the following statement: Nike in no way condones child abuse or domestic violence of any kind and has shared our concerns with the NFL. We have suspended our contract with Adrian Peterson (Molly Geary 2014). From referencing precedents on sponsors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Compare And Contrast Direct Democracy Vs Representative... Representative Democracy is better for the United States than a Direct Democracy. Democracies are based on the citizen s ability to judge things such as laws, propositions, bonds, budgets, representatives, and candidates. The type of democracy helps determine what the citizens are judging. In a direct democracy citizens would be judging the candidates and issues themselves and in a representative democracy, the citizens are judging the representatives and their ability to stay true to the citizens wants and needs. The founding fathers were so sure in their decision to make a representative democracy that they deliberately made ratifying the constitution very difficult. It takes a very large majority of Senate and the House to get a proposal sent to the people for a vote that would make the change and then the people have to approve the change with at least 75% voting in favor in order to ratify the constitution. The dynamics of many process related industries include growing through mergers and acquisition, which has also been an area that continues cause Alcan challenges from an IT perspective as well. Alcan s critical business processes and strategies include sourcing the best possible materials, approving and working with suppliers, while also negotiating with them for the best possible price. Of the many raw materials the company relies on, Bauxite is the most strategically important across the business units Alcan operates today. During the time period of the case study, Alcan generated $23.6B in revenue, operated in 61 countries and had 68,000 employees. They had grown aggressively through acquisition, creating approximately 1,000 duplicate systems, with 400 of them being just for pricing. Given this massive duplication of IT resources, Alcan pays SAP AG hundreds of millions of dollars a year in maintenance fees alone. It is not horrified or excited about the change of their form, they are merely present and allow themselves to be shown to you. A nation or land is where people have established their life, their culture and their heart; sadly it has happened where people have been forced out of their homeland. Great opening sentences. Mary Louise Pratt, Kenji Yoshino and Edward Said all present very good methods of maintaining one s national identity in their essays. In Mary Louise Pratt s essay Arts of the Contact Zone she gives examples of people who are in a contact zone. This instance is referred to as Crony Capitalism, which is a theory that has evolved from corruption over a period of time. The government chooses to monopolize over businesses in pursuit of getting a larger share of money. However, most of the time these turn into sunken costs, which they then try to cover by raising tax rates. Countries that were regarded as miracles are nothing more than havens now, for crony capitalists to get rich the easy way (Kang, 3). An example of this is in Canada, where a big incentive in the form of tax credit is given to the Film Producing Industry. The government has been providing tax payers money and direct subsidies in an effort to induce film production in their province. Currently, film and television tax credits cover up to 35% of labour costs all over Canada, except for Quebec where it covers up to 45%. This does not include the additional tax credits that are provided to cover up the total production costs. In Alberta, the film and television industry demanded $18 million for a project worth $32 million of building a film studio in Calgary. The government has provided them with $10 million from property tax which means that the remaining $22 million will be obtained from taxpayers at their cost. The film industry in Alberta claims that this is beneficial since every buck that taxpayers contribute towards subsidies will result in a 10 fold return to the economy. Mary Todd, a Kentuckian from a wealthy family with an interest in politics caught the eye of a young lawyer named Abraham Lincoln. Even during the war, where her family was confederates and they were dying, both Abraham and Mary knew that they were doing the right thing in preserving the Union. After Abraham Lincoln died, she blamed herself and became mental unstable and eventually died. Her whole life was full of both love and despair. They first met at a dance in Springfield, Illinois in 1839; Mary Todd was from Kentucky and was older and wiser than most of the other girls at the dance. The older men liked to talk to her and ... There was no close investigation of instances where drill sergeants had beaten their wives, which was a particular problem with some of the accused at the Aberd een Proving Ground. The military s position is that the problems of sexual harassment int eh military can be attributed to a lack of leadership, detailed in two army investigations (Barry and Thomas 49; Schitt A1, A19). Opponents of the military s lack fo leadership reasoning believe the problems lie in how the military environment facilitates sexual harassment, in addition to making it difficult for women to resist or report instances of sexual advanes. They fee l the creed of drill sergeants, the power of the military structure, and the fat that military women can not just walk away from their jobs contributes to drill sergeants having powers over women that result in sexual harassment. These issues are explain ed by civilian psychiatrist Major Elsbeth Ritchie in testimony at the court martial of a drill sergeant from the Aberdeen Proving Grounds. Ritchie explains that fear of sexual harassment in the military is elevated due to a drill sergeant creed of I am Mother, I am Father, and God to recruits (qtd. Sciolino, pg. A14). The History of Rolls-Royce Rolls Royce Limited is a renowned British car manufacturing company and later, aero engine manufacturing company founded by Charles Stewart Rolls and Sir Frederick Henry Royce on 15 March 1906 as the result of a partnership formed in 1904. In 1906 they launched the six cylinder Silver Ghost that, within a year, was hailed as the best car in the world. Once again like the other companies I have covered Rolls Royce also created an outstanding product, which launched them on to the engineering scene, this was again a vital stage of the companies success. It would have brought them income that could then be reinvested in future developments, which allowed the company to grow and develop. At the start of the First World War the demand from the nation for military planes was increasing, this encouraged Royce to design his first aero engine, it was called the Eagle and it provided for almost half of the total engines in the skies at this point in time. The eagle also was the power behind the first direct transatlantic flight as well as the first flight from England to Australia. The late 1920s saw Rolls Royce develop the R engine to power Britain s entry in the International Schneider Trophy seaplane contest. It established a new world air speed record of over 400mph in 1931. According to Faulkner this is the only thing that makes writing worth the effort put into it, and if an author cannot accomplish this duty there is no need for writing at all. Faulkner simplifies this complex obligation by presenting man as he really is through the thruths of his heart, which means including what really happens to man from agony to compassion and sacrifice and endurance. Many authors, including Frank McCourt, take on this duty and create a piece of literature that depicts man as his true self in order to assure he prevails instead of merely edur[ing]. According to Koutedakis, physical fitness is an individual s ability to meet demands of specific physical tasks. Aerobic strength allows dancers to work harder for longer periods of time; an increase in stamina helps dancers get through demanding pieces and classes. ___Muscular strength can also be applied in regards to fitness as it helps reduce injuries and focuses on exercise specific to a certain outcome (Irvine). A common misconception is that dancers do not need strength training because bulging muscles are contradictory to the smooth, elongated lines of the dancer aesthetic. In actuality, there are two types of muscles that can be built: slow and fast muscle fibers. Slow muscles are leaner and are more flexible. Fast muscles are the ones that bulge; they are used largely in jumping, hence male dancers having large quadriceps that aide in their high jumps. Resistance training is often used as a way to increase muscle strength without increasing muscle mass in a drastic way. Overloading is the only way to increase muscle strength during training; a muscle must reach its maximum capacity of contraction in order for true generation of muscle to begin. One of the reasons why Kolbert was able to effectively convey this message to her readers is because her book exposes her readers to several environmental problems that are relatively unknown to the general public, by using several first hand accounts of her visits to several fragile and diverse ecosystems across the world, where the effects of climate change and other environmental issues can be visibly observed to be taking a significant toll on local biodiversity. An example of this in The Sixth Extinction can be seen when Elizabeth Kolbert discusses the major environmental impacts caused through the intentional or accidental introduction of invasive alien species to new environments. • 36. Newton s First Law 1) Newton s First Law is: Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it. A real world example of this is that a soccer ball does not move until it is kicked. Newton s Second Law is that the relationship between an object s mass m, its acceleration a, and the applied force F is F = ma. Acceleration and force are vectors; in this law the direction of the force vector is the same as the direction of the acceleration vector. This applies to the design of a bullet. A bullet has low mass with high acceleration behind it, leading to high force on impact. Newton s Third Law is that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This law can be understood as when an individual presses against a wall that they do not fall through the wall as the wall pushes back against your action. 2) A 10 kg bowling ball is slowing down at a constant rate. • 37. Morality In Jack London s The Call Of The Wild Jack London, in his book The call of the wild , portrays, that the strongest, smartest, and the one who is not shy of compromising their morals in the wilderness, will always prosper. In this novel, Buck, the protagonist, a Saint Bernard/ scotch shepherd mix, is taken from his home in California, and becomes a sled dog , and eventually the lead sled dog, in Alaska. Buck is constantly learning about life in the wild, about the law of club and fang, and how the man with the club is the top, and you do not fight that. He also learns that the strong survive well when he kills Spitz. In the book, Buck always ate slow and deliberately, but seeing another dog steal food, to get more, and being fed much less than he is used to, he adapts this practice, against his own morals, and steals food. Later in the book, London says that buck was now wise in the way of the club . This shows: In the call of the wild, buck learns that only the strong and smart survive in the wild, and that unfortunately, to survive, sometimes, moral integrity is compromised. Midst this novel, the smart are the strong. During Buck s fight with the former lead dog; Spitz was untouched, while Buck was streaming with blood and panting. It seems as if the battle will be soon be over, due to the fact that: The fighting was getting desperate ... As buck grew winded, Spitz took to rushing, and he kept him staggering for footing. • 39. The Apartheid Of The South African Apartheid Essay Introduction Canada s Apartheid which can also be known as Canada s Indian Act of 1876. This system of racial intolerance inspired the South Africa s oppressive regime and lead way to the better known Apartheid in South Africa. However, since the South African Apartheid was based on our model shouldn t it simply be known as The Apartheid ? It is interesting to note the varying global images each of these tragic systems have had. As a student, born and raised in Canada, it is deeply troubling that I first learned about the South African Apartheid before I learned about Canada s. It is therefore, fascinating to see how the South African Apartheid created a global awareness and gained support against the system of segregation while the Indian Act opponents where silenced and the world failed to notice. Both political systems of discrimination where based on race, both had detrimental compounded effects on current and succeeding generations. While all groups of race where segregated, not all groups where segregated evenly. Throughout this paper I will be looking to examine the similarities between the Coloured group of the Apartheid and the Metis Nation of the Indian Act. South Africa s Apartheid Segregation between white and black long preceded the apartheid, however, this remained the prime objective in the creation of the apartheid state. This system created a racial hierarchy which started with franchise restrictions imposed by the Parliamentary Registration Act of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Post-Civil War Era American actor and playwright, Ayad Akhtar reflected, I see the American experience as being defined by the immigrant paradigm of rupture and renewal: rupture with the old world, the old ways, and renewal of the self in a bright but difficult New World. While Akhtar was reflecting on the current society in America, the experience in the Post Civil War era was similar in it s ability to fight the old and make room for the new. To give a connotative definition, the American Experience was the act of fighting and using every opportunity for oneself to survive in a competitive and ever changing market of social, political, and artistic construct. Many artists, authors and other creators influenced this definition with their work by their portrayal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During Reconstruction, the point of it was to integrate former slaves into normal societal life. Unfortunately, because many African Americans were never fully compensated for slavery, much of the black population lived in rural poverty in the South and faced discrimination from Black codes and labor contracts (Recchiuti). Like explained before, this struggle within the black community shaped the American experience. What Homer did was capture the daily lives of Post Civil war African Americans in order to convey how they successfully survived in a place that formerly segregated itself from the union to keep them as slaves. In his watercolours, The Conch Divers (1885) and The Water Fan (1898 99), Winslow understood the importance of using every aspect to emanate the political hardships that the black community still faced. His portrayal of black workers on a ship in The Conch Divers shows how they were still treated like slaves in the way that they all lack shirts and what clothing they had is torn, the work that they are doing is painstaking, and no doubt that Homer had in mind the very minimal compensation the workers were receiving when he used such pale colours to depict the scene. Here Winslow Homer is showing the working struggle of an African American and how they are still surviving with what little they were given. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was shown even from the beginning how he could and would be the perfect middle man for the British and the Arab people. In his humble start Lawrence studied history and archeology at Oxford, and participated in an archeological dig in Syria, studying from 1910 1914. While studying in Syria he learned an extensive amount about Middle Eastern culture and learned the Arabic language that would aid him in later years. Showing a man eager to learn and with a deep love of knowledge and curiosity. It is these qualities that allow Lawrence to immerse himself so deeply into the culture when he works with the Arabs. It also makes it so much easier for him to be sympathetic toward their plight. War broke out at the end of his studying. He at this time had returned home and felt the need to protect his homeland. Because his past studies, in December of 1914 was sent to Cairo as an intelligence officer with the Arab bureau. It is here that Lawrence meets the Arab people he will be fighting with as the British have sided with the two largest tribes Husayn and Hijaz . • 42. Happy Life Essay A Happy Life That I Once Thought Was Impossible I believe that an ideal life is mostly based on happiness. It took me a while to discover what truely makes me happy because in my childhood, I perceived happiness as something unreachable by mankind. Especially, because of my struggle. We live in a world of so much problems and crisis. And. . . I come from a place that s full of it Africa. If we think of it, real happiness doesn t come to us in an easy way. I agree with Tzu s definition of happiness in his book: a desire or a fortune that remains eternity. According to Tzu, happiness is a fortune just as wealth and fame. Just to be honest, I had once thought that an everlasting happiness I unattainable. But, that was before I discovered that self satisfaction and contentment results in a happier life. I achieved my happiness after I went through some situations and circumstances that hit my life for good. Before I share my story, I d like to make a salient point that God is the bedrock of the overflowing fountain of happiness that prevails in my life. Through prayer and hard work I achieved an indescribable life of so many blessings and it all happened in the year 2014. Just like I said, the year 2014 was a blessed year of my life. God gave me an opportunity to live a life full of so much fulfilment and happiness. During that year, I was able to overcome a lot of circumstances. In addition to the three point technique applying the earliest start (ES), earliest finish (EF), latest start (LS), and latest finish (LF) procedure to identify the critical path, the project completion time, and the slack for each task can prove to be set of invaluable data that will assist the project manager in accurately determining task duration estimates for the entire scope of work for the project. Most notably tasks C, F, and H will be affected as they have a slack value of 0. More importantly task J the final task in the project network diagram has a value of 0 and a LF of 39 which would not be met because of the delay. Scenario 4 The duration for task C is reduced by 25%: Because task C has a slack value of 0 reducing its duration time from 12 weeks to 8 weeks would pose a threat to the project completion time line. However, since task D has a slack value of 13 and starts in week 8 along with task C, the project manager can utilize the slack time available within task D to shift resource to assist in completed task C in 8 weeks. This action will keep the project completion date from slipping from its original completion date in week 39. Our final exercise will include a brief discussion on risk management. After analyzing the data tasks C, F, and H pose a potential risk to the project as there is no slack available. My risk response is to avoid; therefore, I would have the resources for task D assist task C, the resources from E and G assist F, which would provide slack for H. This approach would greatly reduce the chances of any of the tasks Overall, the above study of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Taking a Look at Audience Analysis Audience analysis is one of the most important elements of effective communication which involves assembling and interpreting information about the recipients of oral, written, or visual communication. In order to derive an effective speech or writing, it is imperative to determine the associated characteristics of an audience. Audience analysis can help you gain valuable insight about your readers, which can help you to choose and develop a relevant, meaningful topic.
