Examples Of Conjugation Fallacy
Question One The conjugation fallacy refers to the probability that two events are more likely than
one of the events occurring solely (Plous, 1993). This fallacy is a type of representative heuristic that
can form stereotypes and generalizations. As discussed by the book and in class, a common example
refers to Linda the bank teller. A description of Linda is given that portrays her as a well educated
philosophy major who is also active with controversial social issues and demonstrations. Then, one is
asked to choose between two identities that could be Linda s. One states that Linda is a bank teller,
while the other states that Linda is a bank teller and is an active feminist. Many people, including
myself, choose the second statement that Linda is a bank teller and is an active feminist when it is
equally probable that Linda could be just a bank teller. The book depicts a Venn Diagram, which is
helpful to better understand the conjugation fallacy (Plous, 1993). It shows how the overlap between
bank tellers and feminist is just as probable as being a bank teller or a feminist. Kahneman and

One may experience cognitive dissonance when he or she has performed an undesirable action that is
inconsistent with his or her belief of his or herself (Plous, 1993). The self perception theory explains
this dissonance by how people think of themselves (Plous, 1993). People naturally tend to believe they
are good people, so actions inconsistent with their thoughts create an unsettling feeling. To reduce this
feeling, an individual tries to justify his or her actions. In order to justify the decision, an individual
can revoke the decision, increase or decrease the attractiveness of the decision, or minimize the
importance of the decision. After further learning about this phenomenon, I often notice the simplest
moments of cognitive dissonance in my daily

Example Of Predictive Policing
The role of research within the criminal justice system is aimed towards reducing criminal activity in a
potentially popular crime area. law enforcement agencies do this is through a number of ways. One of
them is predictive policing. Predictive policing refers to the use of mathematical, predictive and
analytical techniques in law enforcement to identify potential criminal activity
(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Predictive_policing). Predictive policing works with situational
awareness and anticipation of human behavior, resulting in the development or strategies to prevent
criminal activity.
How does this work, we ask? well its simple, its starts with data collection, this comes from the
analyzation of repeat offenders, repeat victims, and locations or types of targets. This data is then
analyzed to obtain an understanding of criminal activity trends. The law enforcement agencies make a
prediction based on data provided more officers or specific task forces would be inserted into
designated high crime areas. The data is reevaluated to see if the methods used are effective, if not
they will gather more data and create a plan that works, crime can not be completely stopped but it can

The Church of St. Martin in the Fields Essay
If you walk along Charing Cross Road from Tottenham Court Road you will come across an area
called Trafalgar Square, which is a well known public space and tourist attraction in Central London.
The Square is situated in the city of Westminster and at its center is Nelson s column, which is
surrounded by four lion statues at its base. In the area there are a number of commemorative statues
and sculptures within the Square. Just as you reach the square on the left is a church called St. Martin
in the Fields. James Gibbs built the church from 1722 1724, in honor of Saint Martin of Tours. It
directly faces Trafalgar Square and is separated from the square by Charing Cross Road. The church
stands tall and is surrounded by several businesses, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of the earliest information on the church dates back to 1222 over a dispute between the Abbot of
Westminster and the Bishop of London over who had sole control over the church. The Archbishop
decided in favor of Westminster so the monks of Westminster Abbey began to use the church for their
own personal use. In 1542, Henry VIII rebuilt the church to keep plague victims from the area from
having to pass through his Palace of Whitehall. At this time in history, the church isolated between the
cities of Westminster and London so it was a good place to keep the plague victims away from the rest
of society. In 1606, James granted an acre of land for a new churchyard. The building was enlarged
eastwards, increasing the length of the church by about half its original size (McMaster 105). The
church was built of brick and covered with stone facings. The roof was tiled and there was now a
stone tower with buttresses protruding from the back of the church. The ceiling was slightly arched
while the interior was filled with galleries on the north, south, and west sides. In 1720, Parliament
passed an act for the rebuilding of the church allowing for a sum of up to 22,000 pounds to be raised
to rebuild it (McMaster 50). A temporary church was constructed on the churchyard and partly on the
ground for the reformation of the church. The rebuilding commissioners selected

Taking a Look at Polylactic Acid Polymers
Introduction
Investigations into developing a more sustainable and eco friendly aspect of every day life are
becoming a major priority. Without such investigations or developments in not only the food
packaging sectors, but in many other major industries, this planet along with its inhabitants will surely
succumb to the human lust of consumerism and ultimately the waste that such hunger produces. The
implantation of ecofriendly green packaging options would see a sharp decline in the amount of waste
that is produced each year and give the ability to recycle and to produce new items from previously
used packaging. In this report the team discuss the concept of biodegradable plastics and their future
implementation as green food packaging alternatives to the current form of non eco friendly plastics
that are in existing use. Biodegradability refers to a composites ability to be degraded by bacteria or
other living organisms, plastics such as these can also be susceptible to water and ultraviolet rays as
sources of decomposition with this aspect being discussed within the chapters of this report. As apart
of this report, team members assess the discovery, life cycle as well as the current or future
applications of three different types of bio plastic. Contained within is discussion on Poly Lactic Acid,

Julian Stallabrass Controversy
Although controversial, the young British artists (YBAs) featured in Charles Saatchi s 1997 exhibition
Sensation, utilised the media savvy nature of their patron to expose a plethora of political, social and
economic concerns. However, conservative critic, Julian Stallabrass, underestimates their form of
ethically significant, transgressive art as little more than an inflated PR exercise (1998, p. 10). Hence,
his unconventional review of Sensation, High Art Lite at the Royal Academy (Stallabrass, 1998),
insufficiently argues that the collective is fundamentally disingenuous due to their portrayal of Britain
s working class culture, and their adoption by high art institutions (pp. 79 84).
In order to validate this claim of insincerity, Stallabrass

California Drought And Organic Versus Conventional Farming
California Drought and Organic Versus Conventional Farming
Introduction California s ideal weather would be rainy winters and dry summers, but that isn t the case
anymore. Many people are concerned and deeply worried about the world s constant decrease in the
fresh water supply and the social, economic, and environmental issues that are caused from this
drought. A textbook definition of a drought is a prolonged period of abnormally low rainfall which
results in a shortage of water, which is normal considering California has been given the title in its
recent years the term drought since 2012. Even though being in a drought is nothing new to California,
for the past three years it has experienced severe drought conditions in the ... Show more content on

The only problem with relying on groundwater is that it needs to be recharged by wetter years in order
to be stable and not continue to diminish. With the drought targeting the agricultural community in
California, many farmers are starting to research more ways on how to become drought efficient. The
two common methods of farming are organic and conventional. Different farming methods have their
own way on affecting the public health and the environment through herbicides and pesticides. Some
of the benefits of organic technologies are higher soil organic matter and nitrogen, lower fossil energy
inputs, and conservation of soil moisture and water resources (Pimentel and Hepperly 2008).
Conventional farming can be more ecological by adapting some of the organic technologies. The
objective of this literature review is to better understand the problems that arise from being in a
drought, the water supply, and how farmers are adapting to the change in climate.
Methods and Materials According to the article, Probable causes of the abnormal ridge accompanying
the 2013 2014 California drought: ENSO precursor and anthropogenic warming footprint it states that
the drought was initiated by an anomalous high amplitude ridge system. Starting in the late summer of
2013, this ridge emerged from Rossby wave energy that became stronger in winter. These surges of

Task 1:
The role of a teacher has changed considerably over the years in the past the teacher may have been
perceived as being the fountain of all knowledge and the purveyor of information. I would like to
think we are still the fountain of all knowledge but the way we deliver our courses has changed
considerably. We no longer stand at the front of the class with rows and rows of learners sitting
waiting for us to transmit the information to them.
As a teacher we are now the facilitator of knowledge. Our job is to guide the learners and allow them
to take responsibility for there own learning. We are less likely to have students in rows in front of us
and more likely to have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then look at each of those parts and think why did it go that way?
Abstract conceptualization is when we come to a decision about what we would do differently next
time. The way we would come to a decision is through further studying or staff development and
reading the right literature.
Active experimentation is the conclusion of our abstract conceptualization stage and provides the
platform that we can plan our changes. Once we have administered these changes we can then start the
cycle again and have some new concrete experiences.
Kolb also described how Lewin s action research and T group training in laboratories was influenced
by the concept of feedback that was used by electrical engineers. This feedback process involved
concrete experience; observations and reflections; formation of abstract concepts and generalizations;
and testing implications of concepts in new situations . The similarities with Kolb s learning cycle

Lenin s Revolution Essay
Lenin s Revolution
At the start of the 20th century, the ruling Tsar of Russia had absolute power and his Government was
corrupt, hence, the majority of the people were against him. Vladimir Ilich Lenin, the leader of the
Bolsheviks Socialist Party wanted a revolution to overthrow the Government. Relative to these times,
it was Lenin who directed the course of the oncoming Russian October Revolution.
The outbreak of the unrest, in January 1905, found Lenin anxious to set down a novel strategy for
revolution: the need for the proletariat (the working class) to win hegemony in the democratic
revolution. He flatly declared to both major political parties of the time (the Bolsheviks and
Mensheviks) that the proletariat was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Tybursky 182)
Placing revolution above party unity, Lenin would accept no unity compromise if he thought it might
delay, not accelerate the revolution. This makes it quite apparent that without Lenin; there may have
not been a revolution. He clearly pushed its commencement.
Ten years in exile had not swayed Lenin?s determination to create and direct a powerful revolution.
Lenin returned to Russia from exclusion in February 1917, believing that the time was ripe to seize
power. The Russian economy was in ruin after the army was nearly defeated and the people exhausted
as a result of the First World War. The country was in an unstable state, suitable for a revolution
(Levinthal 119). Around October 20, Lenin, in disguise and at considerable personal risk, slipped into
Petrograd and attended a secret meeting of the Bolshevik Central Committee held on the evening of
October 23. Not until after a heated 10 hour debate did he finally win a majority in favour of preparing
an armed takeover. Now steps to enlist the support of soldiers and sailors and to train the Red Guards,
the Bolshevik led workers militia, for an armed takeover proceeded openly under the guise of self
defense of the Petrograd Soviet. Even at great personal risk, Lenin was adamant in spurring a
successful revolution.

Flat Shot Essay
Groundstrokes can be hit with topspin or flat.
Topspin is when the racket brushes over the top of the ball causing it to spin. This type of stroke is
more accurate but it makes the ball bounce when it hits the surface which gives the opponent more
time to think before deciding on his own shot. The flat shot however, which is harder to control goes
flatter across the net and the court and has hardly any bounce making it harder for the opponent to
return accurately but it is also a riskier shot.
Sliced forehand and backhand.
This is the opposite of a topspin shot. The ball is hit underneath causing it to have a backspin effect as
it lands on the court and making it a tricky shot to return. It is a great shot to use to change the pace of
the game and to catch an opponent out by giving them a shot that s hard to reach and has a swerving
effect at the end.

It is considered an important weapon of the game. Winning or losing a game can depend on whether a
player dominates the serve or not. Failing to place the serve in the right place can mean a player gives
away free points to his opponent. This is called committing a double fault. A player has two
opportunities per point to place the ball in the correct area across the net or the other player
automatically receives a point. Having a weak serve that the other player can return too easily, and
aggressively, is also a problem as points will be lost too easily. There are several types of serves such
as topspin, topspin slice, flat, slice, kick and many others, all which aim to make it difficult, if not
impossible, for the receiver to return the

CONTRACT FORMED? Betty s (B s) rights against Art (A) depend on whether a valid contract was
formed between them, and whether it was breached and by whom. A and B clearly agreed on the
subject matter (drilling a well) and price ($10 a foot) and time for performance (June 1 completion).
These terms suffice to form a contract. The contract did not have to be in writing. A writing to
evidence a contract is required by the statute of frauds when land is transferred, but not for services to
be performed, as here. Betty would not have rights against A if the contract called only for drilling for
water, but the subject matter here is clearly a completed well, not the mere act of drilling: B s interest
(known to A) was in the water, and she asked him about drilling to supply drinking water, and further

The Barriers Of Multicultural Teams

What strategies or interventions were used in response to these barriers? After considering the
interventions suggested by Brett, Behfar, and Kern (2006), explain how you might change the strategy

of these barriers during your education or work history, research an example of a barrier from

Other cultures tend to use an indirect form of communication where their true response is embedded
in the presentation of the message. Accents and fluency problems also cause barriers as it is hard to
understand someone with a thick accent or to speak with someone who has little knowledge and
working use of a foreign language that another team member might use. The group member might
have an idea of how to say something in their head but can t find the words in another language to
share the idea (Brett, Behfar, and Kern, 2006).
Some individuals on the team might also want to be treated according to their status in the
organization. A challenge inherent in multicultural teammates is that by design, teams have a rather
flat structure. Team members from some cultures, are uncomfortable on flat teams (Brett, Behfar, and
Kern, 2006, p. 124). It is important to recognize the hierarchy structure of the country and how their
citizens handle conflict before conducting business with them. Lastly, different cultures have
conflicting norms when it comes to decision making. Some cultures like to make decisions quickly
while others want to think about the decision and analyze it before coming to a conclusion as far as
action to take (Brett, Behfar, and Kern, 2006).
There are four strategies, according to Brett,

Why Is College Valuable Essay
Every year thousands of high school seniors are faced with a decision. They could either go to college
or choose an alternative. For some, this choice is easy, they know exactly where they are going and
exactly how to do it. Others not so much. Some students try really hard to get into certain colleges and
they don t, others just quite literally don t know what to do with their lives and they end up doing
nothing. College is not valuable because there are many jobs that do not require college, and college
has caused drug and alcohol abuse, also, college isn t meant for everyone, and the people it s meant
for are mainly in the upper class.
There are many reasons why college is not valuable. One reason is that many students that attend
college are from rich families that send them on trips and donate money to the colleges and mainly,
they can afford to send their child to a four year college. According to Richard Vedder, They make
generous contributions to the elite colleges they once attended, to which their kids are applying... as

Asperger s Disadvantages

The Life Of Frederick Douglas By Harriet Jacob
Menal Elmaliki Blessings and Woe The glaring, almost scorching sun beats down on the backs of the
enslaved. The sweat rolls down, past their scared backs and down to the heel of their tired aching feet.
The plantations roar of devastation, but not of its crops but the people that tend to it. From dusk they
rise and to the rake of night they rest, laden with what little sleep, and what little time they have to
dream. Their aching scars tell tales far beyond, their eyes seen what no other, and their ears hear like
no other; the slaves, encumbered as they are living history. Freedom is all but a dream, and those who
dare to even dream or think are those who are not blind and know that freedom is their right. Slavery
has weakened the back and soul of Frederick Douglas but surely not his mind and not even slavery
can destroy the paramountcy of motherhood and community as Harriet Jacob s simply shown. In after
all, slavery has made Frederick a man and Harriet, a mother. In the Narrative of the life of Frederick
Douglass, An American Slave, by Frederick Douglass, it details a momentous passage of conquering
education and reconquering manhood; gaining glory even though he was left to his own devices from
an early age dissimilar to Harriet Jacobs in the Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl. Family values are

beast was an untamable part of nature in the myth. To confront the Minotaur in the dark labyrinth is
the same as confronting our fears of the unknown, the labyrinth was a chamber of death . All humans
experience rage and aggression that builds inside them and some have a hard time knowing how to
control it where, as the Minotaur only knows rage and aggression because that is all he has been
shown. The Minotaur was also half human and could have been capable of good and rational thoughts
had he been raised to do so. In most stories of someone who has evil intentions, there is always a
reason and it usually comes from something in their past or how they were raised. I think the Minotaur
could have felt remorse, but in the Greek times his remorse would not have mattered. Greeks believed
human reason could do a lot, but the Minotaur was not all human and the Greeks seen him as the
enemy of reason . The story of the Minotaur could have been different, and he could have been the
hero instead of the fierce flesh eating beast that everyone feared. He could have saved the young
victims that were thrown into the labyrinth and they could have fought back against King Minos.
Maybe if he defeated King Minos he could have been the king, now that would have been a story to

Punk Rock Is Bullshit Summary
To understand the point that John Roderick is trying to convey in Punk Rock is Bullshit: How a toxic
social movement poisoned our culture, we don t actually have to read the full paper. This is because he
emphasizes his point and opinion about punk rock right in the title. Rather than trying to understand
his point, I want to clarify that his opinion on this matter is not the only opinion, as indicated by the
paper following it, A few thoughts on That Punk Rock Is Bullshit Essay, by Ally Schweitzer. I can
understand where Roderick is coming from, since all he is doing is putting his perspective forward and
we all have the right to do so. But, I would say that I neither agree nor disagree with him, but still that
he is being too harsh on the subject at hand. Since I have never shown any interest in punk rock, I m

Serial Killer Characteristics
Serial Killers are a product of their environment rather than result of the genes they were born with.
Parental and peer abuse is the main contributing factor in the shaping of a serial killer. Serial killer
traits can range from physical abuse to bed wetting in the adolescence stage of their lives. During the
adolescence stage the abuse can make more of an impact on the molding of the serial killers
personality. Modern serial killers are a product of their environment; factors such as; physical and
sexual abuse, bad parenting, and poor education made them become the modern physcopathic killers
of their time. In my first heading I talk about serial killers most common traits. These traits include;
wetting the bed, physical abuse, emotional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New studies show that bed wetting can be related to arson and animal cruelty in some way. 57% of
serial killers have been known to wet the bed until and unusually advanced age. Bed wetting is a very
common thing for a child to go through at a young age in my opinion, but when a parent puts too
much negative emphasis on the act it can become social debilitating for the development of the child.
In media the stereo typical serial killer is thought of as this child that is isolated from the other
children in the classroom. What media does not depict it s the causes of the isolation such as; moving
around a lot, malfunctioning parent child relationship, or the child has been put into a foster home at a
young age. Lack of ability to hold a relationship can cause numerous problems later on in adult life
such as; not being able to hold a job, not being able to sustain a long term relationship, having issues
with fitting into the social norm . when not being able to develop healthy relationships with other
companions is can lead to the child and their adult outcome, becoming involved in theft, arson, and
assault. Hostility, aggression, and complete disregard for human rights can be an emotional outcome
due to isolation as a child (Barnard, 10 Most Common Traits of Serial Killers). So in the end whose
fault is it really the parent and the peers or the actual genetics of the child,

The Cases Of Civil Resistance In The French Revolution
Resistance can be generally defined as the rejection to accept or respond with something, or trying to

The Armenian Arts
The exquisite country of Armenia is found in the Southern Caucasus region, and it borders Georgia,
Azerbaijan, Iran, and Turkey. With a history dating back all the way to 600 B.C., Armenia is
considered the oldest Christian nation. Its capital, Yerevan, is the largest city and is well known for its
tourist attractions. Armenia s population is around ten million people. The Armenian Genocide, the
tragic earthquake, and several wars with other nations have affected what this country stands for
today. Armenia s fascinating architecture, music and dance, and textiles have all been greatly
influenced by its ancient history and Christian heritage.
Armenia s ancient history and adoption of Christianity are shown in the elegant styles of this country s
architecture. Each monument has different features, but they all have the same characteristic; they are
made out of stone. Some buildings are carved into a cave or mountain! You will likely find several
architectural features in almost every monument. These features are stone cupolas and Khachkars.
Many Armenian churches have stone cupolas. Stone cupolas are domes that sit on top of great big
domes. Armenian architects use them as decoration or adornment. As you can probably imagine, these
cupolas weigh a ton, which is why there are arches to help support them. Another key architectural
feature you will definitely spot in Armenia is Khachkars, stone crosses. There are approximately
20,000 Khachkars in the country. These stone crosses

Essay on High Noon
For my at home movie I watched Hang em High directed by Ted Post. It is considered a spaghetti
western that was made in America. In comparison to the film we watched in class, High Noon directed
by Fred Zinnemann. These two westerns had many similarities and differences. From differences in
how the movie was actually shot, to the similarity of how both of the main characters are loners, these
two movies connect all over on many different levels.
High Noon was the story of a very brave man, Will Kane played by Gary Cooper, which is giving up
his Sheriff position to become a homemaker with him wife. Just when they are leaving to start their

Social Labeling Theory Essay
Labeling theory emerged during the mid 1960s and into the early 1970s due to the United States
experiencing a rapid social change caused by economic and political conflict. Labeling theory focuses
on the role social labeling has on the development of crime and deviance. The theory stresses how an
individual who has been labeled as deviant from societal norms might initiate them to continue their
involvement in crime and deviance. Deviant behavior can be defined as conduct that is disapproved by
the public and is typically subject to some form of sanction. In simpler terms, deviant behavior is
socially constructed.
The roots of labeling theory can be traced back as early as 1902 to Cooley s looking glass theory on
the self, which simply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept referred to formal sanctions. It defined the youth s behavior as evil and extended to the
individual involved, characterizing him or her as evil too (Johannes Knutsson, 1977). Mead was an
innovator of symbolic interactionism and believed an individual s self awareness was created through
interaction with their environment. Theorist Edwin Lemert further developed this idea by explaining
how labeling affects criminality and recidivism among those who are categorized as deviant. His
theoretical approach distinguishes between primary and secondary deviance. Primary deviance
referred to individuals who commit nonviolent behaviors, sometimes referred to as rule breakers. It
should be noted that an individual does not reach this level of primary deviance unless they are caught
and labeled. When an individual is stigmatized and treated as deviant, they began to identity
themselves with groups who also labeled, resulting in them adjusting their behavior to fit this identity
as deviant. For Lemert, secondary deviance exists when an individual chooses to accept and employ to
their deviant status, committing more frequently and more violent crimes. However, criminologists

Fiddler On The Roof Analysis
Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, and Joseph Stein s 1964 classic Fiddler on the Roof, previewed by
Wright State University on November 1, 2017 under the direction of W. Stuart McDowell, highlighted
the balancing act one family has with their time honored traditions. With not only the encroachment of
Russian influence, the small Ukrainian village of Anatevka had to learn how to keep their Jewish faith
strong in the midst of changing times, power, and the whims of the lead s daughters. Inspired by the
French painter Marc Chagall, the overall design supported the themes of the show and abstract style.
Produced in a more presentational style, the lighting, costume, and set design were essential and
effective in clarifying the focus of the production and worked well in conjunction. Matthew P.
Benjamin s lighting gave focus to the production and supported the mood in each moment. Being the
driving character for the show, focus was often given to Tevye, especially during his monologues.
Even when other characters were on stage, including members of his family, the lights came down and
Tevye would be under a tight focus during these moments like when Tzeitel and Motel express their
intentions to get married in Act 1 and subsequently Perchik and Hodel s same wish in Act 2. Another
time focus was given to the characters in a scene rather than the overall setting was during the Fruma
Sarah sequence. The use of shinbusters in wing one and cross light gave more focus to the action and

Usually, festive movies only use one holiday, but what if there was a movie with two? That s when

celebration, the many monsters say things such as, You make rats shriek and You make flesh crawl...

this movie truly is a Halloween one because Jack Skellington ruins Christmas for a while. Because
Jack was so fascinated with Christmas, he decided to hold his own. With that in mind, he had people

I opened the black hatch on the lid of the fish tank. Turning open the lid of the plastic container, I
reached inside and took out a pinch of the musty smelling fish food flakes. I sprinkled the flakes over
the water in the fish tank and watched as the 5 fish swam up, gulping up the thin copper, crimson, and
mahogany colored flakes. I watched until the fish swam away, finished with their meal. I then closed
the hatch, put away and closed the jar of fish food, and walked out of my room. Feeding time was
over. Just a couple days ago, I had been at Petsmart with my family.
The fish tanks at Petsmart were all lined up against the walls, illuminated by blue and violet lights.
Each fish tank held fish of all kinds of different shapes, colors, and sizes. My family had bought 5
glimmering fish, a bag of fish care supplies, and when we got home, my mom and dad took the old
fish tank we had in our garage, and much to my delight, set it up in my room, on top of a low
bookcase.
One day, me and my mom both saw something odd in the fish tank.. One of the fish, a huge fish with
silver colored scales, was pecking at some of the smaller fish, causing a couple of their scales to fall
off and drift around in the water. Me and my sister started calling that fish the, mean fish. Later, I

Twentieth Century Isolationism
During the Twentieth Century, there were several events that caused a breakdown in people s
relationships. The horrors of World War One caused T.S. Eliot to study isolationism between people
and culture. He moved to London from The United States and dissolved all ties with America. In
addition, Langston Hughes wrote about separation of races and the problems with prejudice at the
time, not only against blacks but against immigrants, as well. E.E. Cummings wrote about
isolationism in a unique way, not even giving the characters real names. Instead, he used indefinite
pronouns. The racism and isolationism harshly affected several men and women during the Twentieth
Century, which led several artists to incorporate political views into their artwork. ... Show more

Advantage Of Montessori Education
In recent years, Montessori Education draws renewed attention from people. One reason that has

Although Montessori education itself has drawn attention, people take particular note of the

Deforestation is when humans remove or clear large areas of forest lands and related ecosystems for
non forest use. These include clearing for farming purposes, ranching and urban use. In these cases,
trees are never re planted. Since the industrial age, about half of world s original forests have been

s number one products. The success of the Macintosh gave Apple its fame and has since created its
own line of mobile phones as well as its own music buying platform ITunes. The First Macintosh all

Importance Of A Piece Of Writing
When you read an article, a book, a newspaper, or even a letter, often times you do not think of all the
complexities that the piece of writing incorporates. Every word, every sentence, every idea expressed
is carefully thought out before it is presented in writing. This is because the writer must keep in mind
their audience whilst they write, some might even go as far as to say that the writer has obligations to
the reader. On the other hand, if you stop to contemplate it, you realize that writing is equally
important to the writer as it is to the comprehensibility of the reader. Both types of people play a
crucial role in making a piece of writing what it is. I stand in agreement with authors Mark Twain and
Ursula K. Le Guin, along with an anonymous English professor at Ohio University, who all make
claims that correspond to one greater message that the teamwork between writers and readers is what
promotes the success of a piece of writing. Mark Twain heavily emphasizes the importance of
proofreading writing for clarity. Referring to the revision of a written piece, Twain says, The time to
begin writing an article is when you have finished it to your satisfaction. By that time you begin to
clearly and logically perceive what it is you really want to say. Twain is saying that once you have
written your piece, you have only finished putting your thoughts into words on the paper, but it isn t a
well crafted piece of writing just yet; the first draft isn t the final. You

  • 2. Examples Of Conjugation Fallacy Question One The conjugation fallacy refers to the probability that two events are more likely than one of the events occurring solely (Plous, 1993). This fallacy is a type of representative heuristic that can form stereotypes and generalizations. As discussed by the book and in class, a common example refers to Linda the bank teller. A description of Linda is given that portrays her as a well educated philosophy major who is also active with controversial social issues and demonstrations. Then, one is asked to choose between two identities that could be Linda s. One states that Linda is a bank teller, while the other states that Linda is a bank teller and is an active feminist. Many people, including myself, choose the second statement that Linda is a bank teller and is an active feminist when it is equally probable that Linda could be just a bank teller. The book depicts a Venn Diagram, which is helpful to better understand the conjugation fallacy (Plous, 1993). It shows how the overlap between bank tellers and feminist is just as probable as being a bank teller or a feminist. Kahneman and Tversky ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One may experience cognitive dissonance when he or she has performed an undesirable action that is inconsistent with his or her belief of his or herself (Plous, 1993). The self perception theory explains this dissonance by how people think of themselves (Plous, 1993). People naturally tend to believe they are good people, so actions inconsistent with their thoughts create an unsettling feeling. To reduce this feeling, an individual tries to justify his or her actions. In order to justify the decision, an individual can revoke the decision, increase or decrease the attractiveness of the decision, or minimize the importance of the decision. After further learning about this phenomenon, I often notice the simplest moments of cognitive dissonance in my daily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of them is predictive policing. Predictive policing refers to the use of mathematical, predictive and analytical techniques in law enforcement to identify potential criminal activity (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Predictive_policing). Predictive policing works with situational awareness and anticipation of human behavior, resulting in the development or strategies to prevent criminal activity. How does this work, we ask? well its simple, its starts with data collection, this comes from the analyzation of repeat offenders, repeat victims, and locations or types of targets. This data is then analyzed to obtain an understanding of criminal activity trends. The law enforcement agencies make a prediction based on data provided more officers or specific task forces would be inserted into designated high crime areas. The data is reevaluated to see if the methods used are effective, if not they will gather more data and create a plan that works, crime can not be completely stopped but it can be ... • 4. The Church of St. Martin in the Fields Essay If you walk along Charing Cross Road from Tottenham Court Road you will come across an area called Trafalgar Square, which is a well known public space and tourist attraction in Central London. The Square is situated in the city of Westminster and at its center is Nelson s column, which is surrounded by four lion statues at its base. In the area there are a number of commemorative statues and sculptures within the Square. Just as you reach the square on the left is a church called St. Martin in the Fields. Some of the earliest information on the church dates back to 1222 over a dispute between the Abbot of Westminster and the Bishop of London over who had sole control over the church. The Archbishop decided in favor of Westminster so the monks of Westminster Abbey began to use the church for their own personal use. In 1542, Henry VIII rebuilt the church to keep plague victims from the area from having to pass through his Palace of Whitehall. At this time in history, the church isolated between the cities of Westminster and London so it was a good place to keep the plague victims away from the rest of society. In 1606, James granted an acre of land for a new churchyard. The building was enlarged eastwards, increasing the length of the church by about half its original size (McMaster 105). The church was built of brick and covered with stone facings. The roof was tiled and there was now a stone tower with buttresses protruding from the back of the church. The ceiling was slightly arched while the interior was filled with galleries on the north, south, and west sides. In 1720, Parliament passed an act for the rebuilding of the church allowing for a sum of up to 22,000 pounds to be raised to rebuild it (McMaster 50). A temporary church was constructed on the churchyard and partly on the ground for the reformation of the church. The rebuilding commissioners selected ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Taking a Look at Polylactic Acid Polymers Introduction Investigations into developing a more sustainable and eco friendly aspect of every day life are becoming a major priority. Without such investigations or developments in not only the food packaging sectors, but in many other major industries, this planet along with its inhabitants will surely succumb to the human lust of consumerism and ultimately the waste that such hunger produces. The implantation of ecofriendly green packaging options would see a sharp decline in the amount of waste that is produced each year and give the ability to recycle and to produce new items from previously used packaging. In this report the team discuss the concept of biodegradable plastics and their future implementation as green food packaging alternatives to the current form of non eco friendly plastics that are in existing use. Biodegradability refers to a composites ability to be degraded by bacteria or other living organisms, plastics such as these can also be susceptible to water and ultraviolet rays as sources of decomposition with this aspect being discussed within the chapters of this report. California Drought And Organic Versus Conventional Farming California Drought and Organic Versus Conventional Farming Introduction California s ideal weather would be rainy winters and dry summers, but that isn t the case anymore. Many people are concerned and deeply worried about the world s constant decrease in the fresh water supply and the social, economic, and environmental issues that are caused from this drought. A textbook definition of a drought is a prolonged period of abnormally low rainfall which results in a shortage of water, which is normal considering California has been given the title in its recent years the term drought since 2012. The only problem with relying on groundwater is that it needs to be recharged by wetter years in order to be stable and not continue to diminish. With the drought targeting the agricultural community in California, many farmers are starting to research more ways on how to become drought efficient. The two common methods of farming are organic and conventional. Different farming methods have their own way on affecting the public health and the environment through herbicides and pesticides. Some of the benefits of organic technologies are higher soil organic matter and nitrogen, lower fossil energy inputs, and conservation of soil moisture and water resources (Pimentel and Hepperly 2008). Conventional farming can be more ecological by adapting some of the organic technologies. The objective of this literature review is to better understand the problems that arise from being in a drought, the water supply, and how farmers are adapting to the change in climate. We no longer stand at the front of the class with rows and rows of learners sitting waiting for us to transmit the information to them. As a teacher we are now the facilitator of knowledge. Active experimentation is the conclusion of our abstract conceptualization stage and provides the platform that we can plan our changes. Once we have administered these changes we can then start the cycle again and have some new concrete experiences. Kolb also described how Lewin s action research and T group training in laboratories was influenced by the concept of feedback that was used by electrical engineers. Lenin s Revolution Essay Lenin s Revolution At the start of the 20th century, the ruling Tsar of Russia had absolute power and his Government was corrupt, hence, the majority of the people were against him. Vladimir Ilich Lenin, the leader of the Bolsheviks Socialist Party wanted a revolution to overthrow the Government. Relative to these times, it was Lenin who directed the course of the oncoming Russian October Revolution. The outbreak of the unrest, in January 1905, found Lenin anxious to set down a novel strategy for revolution: the need for the proletariat (the working class) to win hegemony in the democratic revolution. • 10. Flat Shot Essay Groundstrokes can be hit with topspin or flat. Topspin is when the racket brushes over the top of the ball causing it to spin. This type of stroke is more accurate but it makes the ball bounce when it hits the surface which gives the opponent more time to think before deciding on his own shot. The flat shot however, which is harder to control goes flatter across the net and the court and has hardly any bounce making it harder for the opponent to return accurately but it is also a riskier shot. Sliced forehand and backhand. This is the opposite of a topspin shot. The ball is hit underneath causing it to have a backspin effect as it lands on the court and making it a tricky shot to return. With a history dating back all the way to 600 B.C., Armenia is considered the oldest Christian nation. Its capital, Yerevan, is the largest city and is well known for its tourist attractions. Armenia s population is around ten million people. The Armenian Genocide, the tragic earthquake, and several wars with other nations have affected what this country stands for today. Armenia s fascinating architecture, music and dance, and textiles have all been greatly influenced by its ancient history and Christian heritage. Armenia s ancient history and adoption of Christianity are shown in the elegant styles of this country s architecture. Each monument has different features, but they all have the same characteristic; they are made out of stone. Some buildings are carved into a cave or mountain! You will likely find several architectural features in almost every monument. These features are stone cupolas and Khachkars. Many Armenian churches have stone cupolas. Stone cupolas are domes that sit on top of great big domes. Armenian architects use them as decoration or adornment. As you can probably imagine, these cupolas weigh a ton, which is why there are arches to help support them. Another key architectural feature you will definitely spot in Armenia is Khachkars, stone crosses. There are approximately 20,000 Khachkars in the country. These stone crosses ... • 26. Social Labeling Theory Essay Labeling theory emerged during the mid 1960s and into the early 1970s due to the United States experiencing a rapid social change caused by economic and political conflict. Labeling theory focuses on the role social labeling has on the development of crime and deviance. The theory stresses how an individual who has been labeled as deviant from societal norms might initiate them to continue their involvement in crime and deviance. Deviant behavior can be defined as conduct that is disapproved by the public and is typically subject to some form of sanction. In simpler terms, deviant behavior is socially constructed. The roots of labeling theory can be traced back as early as 1902 to Cooley s looking glass theory on the self, which simply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This concept referred to formal sanctions. It defined the youth s behavior as evil and extended to the individual involved, characterizing him or her as evil too (Johannes Knutsson, 1977). Mead was an innovator of symbolic interactionism and believed an individual s self awareness was created through interaction with their environment. Theorist Edwin Lemert further developed this idea by explaining how labeling affects criminality and recidivism among those who are categorized as deviant. His theoretical approach distinguishes between primary and secondary deviance. Primary deviance referred to individuals who commit nonviolent behaviors, sometimes referred to as rule breakers. It should be noted that an individual does not reach this level of primary deviance unless they are caught and labeled. When an individual is stigmatized and treated as deviant, they began to identity themselves with groups who also labeled, resulting in them adjusting their behavior to fit this identity as deviant. For Lemert, secondary deviance exists when an individual chooses to accept and employ to their deviant status, committing more frequently and more violent crimes. However, criminologists began to ... Fiddler On The Roof Analysis Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, and Joseph Stein s 1964 classic Fiddler on the Roof, previewed by Wright State University on November 1, 2017 under the direction of W. Stuart McDowell, highlighted the balancing act one family has with their time honored traditions. With not only the encroachment of Russian influence, the small Ukrainian village of Anatevka had to learn how to keep their Jewish faith strong in the midst of changing times, power, and the whims of the lead s daughters. Inspired by the French painter Marc Chagall, the overall design supported the themes of the show and abstract style. Produced in a more presentational style, the lighting, costume, and set design were essential and effective in clarifying the focus of the production and worked well in conjunction. Matthew P. Benjamin s lighting gave focus to the production and supported the mood in each moment. Being the driving character for the show, focus was often given to Tevye, especially during his monologues. Even when other characters were on stage, including members of his family, the lights came down and Tevye would be under a tight focus during these moments like when Tzeitel and Motel express their intentions to get married in Act 1 and subsequently Perchik and Hodel s same wish in Act 2. Another time focus was given to the characters in a scene rather than the overall setting was during the Fruma Sarah sequence. The use of shinbusters in wing one and cross light gave more focus to the action and added ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Turning open the lid of the plastic container, I reached inside and took out a pinch of the musty smelling fish food flakes. I sprinkled the flakes over the water in the fish tank and watched as the 5 fish swam up, gulping up the thin copper, crimson, and mahogany colored flakes. I watched until the fish swam away, finished with their meal. I then closed the hatch, put away and closed the jar of fish food, and walked out of my room. Feeding time was over. Just a couple days ago, I had been at Petsmart with my family. The fish tanks at Petsmart were all lined up against the walls, illuminated by blue and violet lights. • 40. Importance Of A Piece Of Writing When you read an article, a book, a newspaper, or even a letter, often times you do not think of all the complexities that the piece of writing incorporates. Every word, every sentence, every idea expressed is carefully thought out before it is presented in writing. This is because the writer must keep in mind their audience whilst they write, some might even go as far as to say that the writer has obligations to the reader. On the other hand, if you stop to contemplate it, you realize that writing is equally important to the writer as it is to the comprehensibility of the reader. Both types of people play a crucial role in making a piece of writing what it is. I stand in agreement with authors Mark Twain and Ursula K. Le Guin, along with an anonymous English professor at Ohio University, who all make claims that correspond to one greater message that the teamwork between writers and readers is what promotes the success of a piece of writing. Mark Twain heavily emphasizes the importance of proofreading writing for clarity. Referring to the revision of a written piece, Twain says, The time to begin writing an article is when you have finished it to your satisfaction. By that time you begin to clearly and logically perceive what it is you really want to say. Twain is saying that once you have written your piece, you have only finished putting your thoughts into words on the paper, but it isn t a well crafted piece of writing just yet; the first draft isn t the final.
