The Crucible Tone
The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, revolves around the Salem witch trials of the 15th century. Much of
what precedes the play portion of the novel is dedicated to establishing the background of the novel.
This passage, in specific, sets the tone of the novel as it describes the ideology of the witch hunts, and
how they came into effect. The passage summarizes the fundamental ideas of the witch hunts as a
paradox stating, The witch hunt was a perverse manifestation of the panic which set among the classes
when the balance began to turn toward greater individual freedom (Miller 11). These words are an
important part of the novel because it lays out a groundwork which the rest of the ideas and concepts
that are brought up in the novel will build themselves upon. Simply put, it sets the tone for the rest of
the novel. It describes the fears that the characters have, and what conflicts they will undergo. For
instance, signs of mob mentality can be gleamed from the passage. This can be seen when it says,
balance has yet to be struck between order and freedom (Miller 11).

Myth Of Child Abuse
There exists a myth that abuse is perpetrated by scary dangerous strangers, and therefore to avoid
them at all costs: don t get in the car with someone you don t know, don t open the door unless you
know who it is, don t take candy from a stranger, etc. This deeply ingrained lesson is one we continue
to pass on to our children in hopes of protecting them from harm. However, it is critical to know that
in 9 out of 10 cases of abuse, children are violated by someone they know and trust (60% by family
friends and acquaintances such as a babysitter, childcare provider, teacher, neighbor, or friend, and
30% by a family member such as cousins, siblings, uncles, or parents). There is unfortunately, no clear

Chemical Equilibrium Lab Report
Chemical Equilibrium

Introduction
Chemical equilibrium is defined as a state in which the rate of the forward reaction equals the rate of
the backward reaction [1]. Equilibrium constant, defined as a number that expresses the relationship
between the amounts of products and reactants present at equilibrium in a reversible chemical reaction
at a given temperature [2]. The equilibrium constant, Keq, was found by multiplying the products
concentrations, then dividing it by the equilibrium concentrations product of the reactant. Small Keq
values means that the reaction does not fully go to completion. When looking at a large Keq value, the
reaction entirely goes to completion therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
b is the cuvette s length also known as the pathlength and it is 1cm. E is also a constant which means
there is a relationship between absorbance and concentration. Moreover, Le Chatelier s principle
needs to be brought up again in order to account for an off Keq value. This could be due to not adding
enough of the reactant ion which did not allow the reaction to be driven completely.

The Struggles Of Bad Customer Service
The Struggles of Bad Customer Service In the medical industry, customer service is a very important
thing. As a customer and a new patient, I expect to walk into an office and be treated with the same
respect as the next person in line. About two weeks ago, I went into the oral surgeon s office and was
looking around to see a tiny, but crowed waiting room. I came into this office with high expectations,
for my sister had just gotten her wisdom teeth removed in this office with exceptional service , as my
mother put it. So I looked up at the receptionist s desk and found myself placed as the second person
in line. There I stood, waiting in line for over twenty minutes! It felt like it was taking forever because
there was a gentleman in front of me who didn t have his referrals. But order for him to proceed with
an appointment, he needed the referrals. So the receptionist, decided to put her time into looking for
his paperwork. Thankfully, while she s looking into it, she calls the next person in line. This happens
to finally be my turn! I quickly proceeded to the receptionist s desk, to present my insurance cards.
The reason why I have two insurance cards instead of just one is because I have Hodgkin s
Lymphoma. That means I have a secondary insurance listed under the state s welfare policies for
disabled children. Although I am eighteen, the policy allows me to stay on until I m Nineteen for my
medical bills can get extremely expensive. At this point, I go to

Critical Review of the Traditional Paradigm
Critical review of the Traditional Paradigm of Management Accounting Arnold and Hope (1983)
defined that management accounting is considered to provide the information to managers to assist
them to make decisions about the ways in which an organisation s resources should be allocated.
Puxty (1998) said that a framework should be provided because of many different approaches that can
be taken to define a subject. Also, in order to understand management accounting, it is necessary to
study the assumptions and reasoning behind the various frameworks (Puxty, 1998). Therefore, Puxty
(1998) categorised a wide variety of perspectives on management accounting into five frameworks,
which are the traditional paradigm, the systems movement, the ... Show more content on

The character is similar to treating the organisation as a closed system. Management accountants only
focus on the factors occurred in the organisation and thus they perhaps omit the crucial factors from
the outside. It means that management accountants perhaps have not address the root of the problem.
Take labour variances as an example. The adverse labour rate variances may be completely the result
of uncontrollable and external factors, such as national and local wage awards for individual skills and
grades. As a result, the personnel department has no responsibility for the rate changes which lead to
the adverse variance (Arnold and Turley, 1996). In this case, management accountants are not able to
address the problem if they investigate the variance from the internal factors of the organisation. It
could be said, therefore, that management accountants should not only view the actions and processes
from the organisation but also from the outside environment. The second one is that it has an
ahistorical viewpoint (Puxty, 1998). The historical analysis attempts to explain subjects through their
history. As has been suggested, however, the conventional management accounting was claimed to be
ahistorical and all actions and decisions are based on the present and future of the organisation
(Dungworth, 2011). Take Stedry s (1960) model as cited by Puxty (1998) as an example.

Healthcare Convention At Fletcher s Meadow Secondary School
Healthcare Convention Reflection
On December 2nd, 2015 was the healthcare convention at Fletcher s Meadow Secondary School. In
the convention, all gr 10, 11, and 12 students of Mrs.Nightingale s class participated and had booths
talking about different topics. Grade 10 students do games based on health, grade 11 students research
different countries and compare their healthcare system to Canada s, and grade 12 students choose a
hot topic and research it to present on the day of the convention. However, there were no grade 10
students this year, only grade 11 and 12.
I, Jaskiran, and Crystal were in a group together. We are grade 11 students, and so we had to pick two

While doing our research, which for myself started on November 13th, I learned many new things
about our healthcare system. It is common knowledge in Canada that our healthcare system also
known as medicare is social. The Canadian Healthcare System is a group of socialized healthcare
insurance plans that provides coverage of all Canadians, regardless of who they are or what their
socioeconomic status is. Healthcare in Canada is paid through taxes (publicly funded) and
administered on a provincial or territorial basis.
Some interesting things about our healthcare system was that it was started by Tommy Douglas in
1947 who was the premier of Saskatchewan at the time. Tommy Douglas is known as the Father of
Medicare and it is thanks to him, we even have our social healthcare system in the first place. Douglas
believed that everyone deserved access to free healthcare, regardless of who they are (medical history,
personal income, or standard of living), and that healthcare was simply a human right. Another
Canadian in the system is Jane Philpott, who is currently the health minister of Canada, appointed by
Justin Trudeau our prime minister.
One last thing that I found fascinating was travel insurance. Since healthcare is administered on a
provincial/territorial basis, you are only covered in the province that you live in. For Ontario, that
social insurance plan is OHIP. The

QSPM:
The Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) is a viable tool for making strategy formulation
decisions. This powerful basis will assist managers of a firm to take alternative feasible strategies for
their particular business.
For developing a QSPM, there are six major steps as follows:
Step 1
Make a list of the firm s key external opportunities/threats and internal strengths/weaknesses. As we
have done in SWOT analysis before.
Step 2
Assign weights to each key external and internal factor. This part is already done in SWOT analysis.
Step 3
Examine matrices, and identify alternative strategies than the company should consider implementing.
In this part, three alternative strategies grasp from previous analysis based ... Show more content on

Essay on Salvation on Sand Mountain by Dennis Covington
Dennis Covington writes about a unique method of worship snake handling, in his memoir, Salvation
on Sand Mountain. He begins as a journalist, looking in on this foreign way of life; however, as time
progresses he increasing starts to feel a part of this lifestyle. As a result loses his journalistic approach,
resulting in his memoir, detailing his own spiritual journey. Upon the conclusion of his stay in this
world, Covington realizes the significance of this journey, and argues in his memoir that we cannot
entirely know ourselves until we step outside of our comfort zone and separate ourselves from our
norm. It is almost as if Covington was in a dream or some sort of trance throughout this whole

Allowing himself to be pulled into this world says a lot about the author s character: it is almost as if
he is vulnerable, and this vulnerability in some cases can be seen as a weakness. However, this
vulnerable act allowed him to find himself and strengthen his previous beliefs and attitude. According
to Aristotle, authors have an ethical obligation to have a strong ethos: this entails authors to have
intelligence, rectitude, and goodwill, and Covington expresses this throughout his entire memoir. Even
though, at the beginning he does not understand their behavior, and after he is embarrassed and
virtually kicked out of the society, he is able to write the truth about the handlers with the utmost
respect. Yes, he exposes many aspects of the handlers lives, but he does so in a respectful and
journalistic manner: it is clear that the information he divulges is essential to the reader understanding
the true meaning of his argument. The author does not purposely try to portray these people in the best
light possible, but rather the most ingenuous way. He demonstrates his goodwill by remaining
impartial during most of the memoir: occasionally he allows his emotions to effect his depiction of the
characters; however, this is almost impossible to achieve, because he interacted with these people and
was reacting to certain situations.
Covington writes this memoir for many reasons: he writes in order publicize this exclusive

African American Singular Story
Today, the African American community has a very definitive, restrictive singular story, and though
this story might be correct about some members of the community, it is not for others. Adichie
reminds us that the African American stereotype and singular story, although possibly true, is very
incomplete and makes one story become the only story about a group of people. Personally, I have
been lucky enough to have experienced many different social and economic situations, and in every
place I have been, I have met many different African Americans. Not once have I encountered an
African American who were the same and who definitely fit their singular story.
In America, the stereotypical African American doesn t work, feeds off of the welfare ... Show more

They fuel racial profiling, describing what someone in their group must be like and refuse to accept
anyone who escapes their molds. This restricting idea can only be broken by stepping out of our
bubbles and reaching out to those in different communities. The best cure is exposure. There is more
than just a single profile for a group of people because not one member has experienced the same
situations or was brought up in the same places. Society must stop using the singular story to define a
continent of people and instead publish and listen to the individual stories because these individual
stories may empower people in similar communities to rise up. These individual stories can show
people that just like this person, one can also become something great. These individual stories of
triumph and hardships can repair a broken dignity of a certain group and allow for more acceptance,
empowerment, and equality. Stories are powerful, but there is an eminent danger in relying too heavily
on a story that ties to a specific identify. If one only sticks to certain characterization or description of
a group of people, one can make a many faulty generalizations. For everyone, the key is to be aware
of and to constantly seek out different stories, because no one story will ever be the

United States Health Care System
TITLE OF PAPER
For many years the condition of the United States health care system has been a hot topic for debate.
Some would like to believe that the U.S has the best health care system in the world, but unfortunately
that may not be the truth. In 2000 The World Health Organization (WHO) released a world health
report. The report ranked the overall health system performance of 191 countries; the United States
was ranked at 37 out of the 191. With out of control costs, highly inequitable coverage and
comparatively low health outcomes, the US healthcare system has failed to provide efficient,
dependable coverage for the population as a whole as compared to most European and developed
Asian systems (Blank, 2012). In other developed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
citizens that a new plan to reform health care had to be devised.
On March 23, 2010 congress approved and President Obama signed The Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act (PPACA) into law. The PPACA is more commonly known as just the Affordable
Care Act (ACA) or negatively as Obamacare. In order for the ACA to be passed, the President had to
appease the different political parties. As a result, the ACA is not entirely an original idea. Some of the
main provisions already had the support of various political parties, because they had been introduced
by past presidents and political parties in their health reform plans over the past few decades. Some
examples include: both Nixon and Carter had employer mandates; Bush had a version of the
individual mandate, both Bush and Clinton proposed similar ideas to the insurance marketplace,
among a few others. The ACA is similar to universal health care; the objective is to ensure that the US
citizens have access to affordable quality healthcare, instead of a free market for all like in other
countries it is still for profit. The Affordable Care Act increases access to care, makes health insurance
more affordable, strengthens Medicare and ensures that Americans have more rights and protections

Translating the overall strategy into action
An overall LTD strategy may be valid over a long timeframe, though it may need to be revisited
regularly as circumstances change. It is an overall statement of intent and needs to be given more
detail to give guidance on how it will be implemented and who will translate this intent into practice
The sections below set out some of the questions that need to be asked and the choices that
organisations need to make so that LTD practice achieves its strategic aims. Organisations may set
these policies as a set of organisational rules, or as guidance and communicate them to managers and
staff.
Performance management
LTD activities need to be planned for in the same way as other organisational activities, through the
performance management process. Responsibilities will be allocated to line management and HRD
specialists, targets set, and individual performance measured against achievement. This applies to the
HRD function and to line managers who achieve business targets by, amongst other things, making
sure their teams have the right level of capability. Find out more about the performance management
process in our

The Relationship Between Ellen Monks And John Dunn

close a romantic relationship between the bushranger John Dunn and one Margaret Monks occurred.
Reputedly formulated during the period that Ben Hall, John Gilbert and John Dunn s were canvassing

The United States Should Use Nuclear Energy
The United States should use nuclear energy to help supplement energy demand because it s cost
effective, safer for the environment, and a more reliable source of energy than any of the other types
of fuel. Some of the topics of interest are cost effectiveness, recycling options, long term storage
options, environmental protection technologies currently being used, and a breakdown of how nuclear
energy out performs other sources of power year round. To many times people talk about the negative
side of nuclear energy, and how it can impact the environment around them, but too few talk about
how nuclear energy had improved their lives. In truth nuclear energy is responsible for creating a fair
amount of revenue in the local economy, state revenue, and federal revenue. For every dollar a nuclear
power plant spends it generates an estimated 1.04 in the community, 1.18 in the state, and a 1.87 for
the nation (Nuclear Energy Institute). With such a great revenue it would be detrimental to the nation
if nuclear energy was disbanded, and deemed a great threat to national security. Nuclear energy
generates roughly $16 million dollars annually for the state it resides in, and about $67 million dollars
annually for the nation (Nuclear Energy Institute). That revenue generated for the state is used for the
construction of new schools, improved state wide emergency response training and response times,
and a whole multitude of things that just can t compare. To add to this nuclear

People are suffering all around the world and are desperate for the help of those who can provide it.
We as Americans can t even begin to comprehend the problems that people of Uganda experience in
their daily lives. The struggles that they face derive from the fact that 51% of the Ugandan population
lives on less than $1 a day (Katie Davis Speaks). Many of the people in Uganda are uneducated and
therefore unable to obtain jobs, resulting in a massive unemployment rate in Uganda. Without a job, it
s nearly impossible for them to get the money they need to support themselves, much less an entire

She decided to give up the life she had in the United States to travel to Uganda, only relying on funds
from her family and friends back home to help support her and her efforts. This eventually led to the
development of Amazima Ministries, whose mission was to provide food, medical care, education,
and work to those in need in Uganda (Katie Davis Speaks). Today, Davis s ministry provides for
nearly 1,600 children, some who would not even be alive today without it. One of the first children
Davis s ministry provided for was a young girl named Agnes, only nine when Davis found her. Her
parents had both died from HIV, and she was left to care for her two younger sisters. She had no
money and little access to food and water. Davis took Agnes under her wing and gave her the care that
she so desperately needed. Agnes and her sisters are now healthy, and Agnes is a caregiver for
Amazima (Davis 154). Amazima has had a huge impact on a multitude of children, and Agnes s story
is a reflection of that impact. The ministry has had the ability to completely turn children s lives
around, providing them with opportunities that they have only ever dreamed about. Davis, now twenty
one, is a mom to thirteen young Ugandan girls who do not have families that can support or provide
for them. Davis admits she could never have imagined this was where her journey in Uganda would
lead her, but she has kept the mindset that one [child] is enough (Davis 204). She did everything she
could to help every child that crossed her path, regardless of the circumstances. This mindset is what

Examples Of Parallelism In Paradise Lost

Paradise Lost is a long biblical epic poem that John Milton had planned twenty years before its
publication in 1667. Milton wanted to produce something equivalent to the works of Homer (Iliad),
Dante and Virgil, a long narrative, as it speaks about long journeys, that relate the story of a hero, who
is often meant to have superhuman traits and whose deeds entail the future of a hole nation, tribe or
the human race as it is the case in Paradise Lost. These masterpieces are written in a high stylistic
language and describe important battles in which supernatural ... Show more content on

Moreover, there are also similarities even in characters; we have the king (Charles I) who is compared
to God in Paradise Lost; which means that God is a monarch in Heaven. Also, the head of the
rebellion in Milton s life time, Cromwell and his supporters represented in Paradise Lost by Satan and
the Angels that follow him. According to history, Milton was a puritan political activist and published
plenty of political pamphlets against the royal system. In Paradise Lost he seems to make the same
thing but in a different and elevated style. He defended Cromwell and was involved in his
administration and this leads Milton to make a sort of comparison between Cromwell and Satan. But
we may be surprised by this comparison because when we say Satan we mean the devil which can
suggest bad and evil side. So, Satan s character is a little bit an ambiguous character, he represents
very courageous and powerful values on earth (which are the characteristics of an epic hero) but at the
same time he represents the devilish spirit in heaven. Nevertheless, Satan was described as an
archangel in heaven; Milton

of the CHIP program very from each state but also that in the Children s Health Insurance Program

example, the Medicaid Expansion CHIP provide customers with the most basic kind of benefits that

Gonzaga Dance Critique
I was in the Gonzaga Dramatic Association Production of Hairspray this Spring, where I played IQ,
one of the Corny Kids. It was directed by Allan L Etoile, produced by Paul Buckley and Megan
Goldsmith, choreographed by Ellen Abood, and musically directed by Marika Countouris. Many
people called this one of the best shows that the GDA has put on in years, and it was a lot of fun to be
in. There were three main aspects to putting on the show, rehearsing the singing, rehearsing the
dancing, and performing.
When the cast would rehearse the singing for the show, after receiving the music and splitting up into
vocal parts, Marika Countouris would start going through the song in small sections, one vocal part at
a time. After going through the whole song once, we would run through it again, correct any mistakes,
then run in one final time. After that, it was up to the cast to remember everything that we did and to
keep doing it. We later had to go back for a few songs and relearn them, but if everyone was willing to
put in the effort and practice individually, then we wouldn t have to relearn it and we could move on.

Since the day I joined Perlara, I kept hearing about the Echo machine on one of our benches back

ADE can be used to transfer a range of solvents with viscosity ranging from 0.3 to 10 centipoise. The
technology is also capable of working with volatile liquids such as ethanol and acetone which have
low viscosity and surface tension. The ADE technology can effectively transfer a range of solvents
with varying viscosity effectively with low coefficient of variation (CV). The CV is as low as 8%
when the plate has unknown water and/or DMSO compositions. Since transfer by ADE technology
does not involve any physical contact, it minimizes the risk of contamination and/or cross

involve the use of pipette tips. In conclusion, the Echo 550 using ADE technology is a very effective

The Success Of College Sports
Title In the past few decades college sports have grown immensely in popularity nationwide,
especially when the bigger events such as March Madness and the College Football National
Championship arise. Even though the NCAA considers themselves to be a non profit organization,
March Madness is such a huge event that in 2011 the NCAA made an agreement with CBS Sports and
Turner Broadcasting System to let them broadcast the games until 2024 for $10.8 billion, but during
March Madness they make almost $800 million every year from jersey, ticket, and product sales (
Revenue ). Depending on how far some of the colleges go these universities could make an extra few
million also. None of the money the colleges or the association makes is given to the student athletes.
They are the ones that work so hard to help bring in all of the revenue for their schools and the NCAA
but get nothing in return. Besides bringing in revenue for their school if they prove that they are a
good collegiate school it will make high school students look further into their school and potentially
attend that university. According to the NCAA for any student athlete to be eligible and still be
considered amateur they are not allowed to receive salary for participating in any athletic program nor
are they allowed to be given prize money above necessary expenses, ( Amateurism ) However a
common view is that college athletes should not be paid because most of them already receive a free

Christian Inaccuracies In The Bible
Introduction
Every day people are introduced to the Bible, whether it be through Christians or non
Christians. Christians will try to convince people that the Bible is true, while non Christians will
say that there are too many inaccuracies in the Bible for it to be true. As Christians, we should
take a look at what the other side has to say, so we are aware of what others believe and so that
we can accurately talk about the other side s claims. Another reason that Christians should
conduct their own research on the accuracy is so they can defend their faith and know why they
believe what they believe. There are many people in our would today that believe certain facts
and information to be true only because friends or family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This account was an early example that shows us that even before Jesus came, God the
Father performed miracles. Through research Dr. Gary Habermas, a scholar in New Testament
history and has conducted lots of research for providing sound evidence to support the New
Testament, discovered that many agree and recognize Jesus miracles dealing with healings and
exorcisms, but deny the nature miracles. The fact that Jesus miracles are listed and discussed
in each of the Gospels show proof that Jesus really did perform miracles. Dr. Gary Habermas
stated, medical studies of certain miraculous phenomena today indicate that we are still not
able to account for all such incident in purely naturalistic terms. That statement from Dr.
Habermas shows that one cannot account for the miracles through naturalistic elements, but rather
have to acknowledge that Jesus really did perform miracles. Dr. Gary Habermas is not the
only person that has looked into the miracles of Jesus. Craig Keener, a professor of New
Testament at Ashbury Theological Seminary, has also provided evidence through Jesus miracles

The Scythians Summary
The Evidence of the Scythians Much of what is known of the history of the Scythians comes from the
account of them by the ancient Greek historian Herodotus, who visited their territory. Herodotus was a
great Greek researcher of the fifth century B.C.E, who wrote about the customs and way of living of
several civilizations he visited. In one of his investigations he found a very interesting group of nomad
tribes, who were called the Scythians. His findings were recorded in Herodotus Fourth Book of The
Histories,. In this book, he describes the civilization of the Scythians a as a big, influential and diverse
group of nomad tribes that had a well developed society and military forces. At the same time, he

Horsemen and herdsmen roamed the steppes with their many herds of cattle and horsemen. Thus, it
could be also argued that the horse allowed the communication between people living at great
distances from one another. The Scythians not only were in contact with the civilizations of Greece,
Egypt, and the Near East, but also with many other tribes that lived in the Eurasia steppe. Although
their interaction with other civilizations is reflected in their art, the Scythians are distinguished from
the others through their so called animal style. This style is the representation of animal motifs
naturally rendered in several poses. It is believed that with this depiction the power inherent in the
animal images was destroyed. Furthermore, the Scythian interaction with the Near East civilizations
has been also recorded. The advance of the Scythians into the Near East was caused primarily for
economic reasons. Since the Scythians experienced a surplus in cattle, they moved to the Near East in
order to trade cattle in exchange of the merchandise they needed, such as iron, copper, and tin.
However, the Scythians the Near Eastern states probably when they discovered their military

Tribute is a poem consisting of eighteen lines in three sixtains, closely resembling the form of John
Berryman s Dream Song poems. The title of Jennings poem Tribute sets up the readers preconceptions
of a poem as a celebration, and an honouring towards a person with our admiration. Instead these
ideas set in precognition are shattered when the reader begins reading the opening lines., The reader

thought of to be a designed creation of exaggeration in Jennings own intimidation on the approach of

Zambia s agriculture has the potential of enhancing economic growth and reducing poverty. Good
agricultural policies and a well performing agricultural sector translates into significant improvements
in the country s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), employment generation, and broadens the country s
tax base since the livelihoods of the majority of Zambians depend on agricultural related activities
such as farming. The sector, if well developed, should contribute significantly to welfare
improvement. In the colonial period, the government paid particular attention to provinces which were

Another policy consideration which was introduced by government was to encourage the
establishment of cooperatives at the village level and to form an umbrella organization of the
cooperatives at the national level.
According to Tadora (2006:470), another policy that the government considered was the emergency of
the rural society based on peasant mass participation. The basic viable input in Africa is agriculture
farming and village labour. This is due to the importance of subsistence farming in the village
community, the existence of some land in excess of immediate requirements, which permits a general
practice of shifting cultivation and reduces the value of land ownership as an instrument of economic
and political power, and the rights of each family (both nuclear and extended) in a village to have
access to land and water in the immediate territory vicinity, excluding from such access use by
families that do not belong to the community even though they may be of the same tribe.
However, even with introduction of peasant masses, the rural areas of Zambia continue to be poverty
stricken, and food production on a larger scale faces severe constraints, which includes lack of

Examples Of Realism In A Doll s House
Henrik Ibsen is regarded as the inventor of realism . Realism is a movement in theatre that first began
at the end of the nineteenth century. In a realism play social and domestic problems are explored as
they would actually happen in a real life situation. We are presented with a portrayal of humanity and
life as it occurs in real life. It is evidently clear from reading Ibsen s A Doll s House that this play was
written in the form of realism. Ibsen does not shadow any aspect of life in Norway in the nineteenth
century in this play. It is clear that during this time power was very important. It was a patriarchal
society which oppressed both males and females as they struggled to confine to the strict regulations
of the society of that time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

he never really cared for his wife, however as much as I agree with that statement I think the society in

based on your appearance; you needed to present your life in the best light possible if you were to

Analysis Of The Article The Life Of East St Louis ...
The article Life in Mississippi: East St Louis, Illinois is one that is not taken lightly. The article shows
one the injustice that African Americans face in the city of St. Louis. The article all together is
shocking and heartbreaking. To know that in a country that is suppose to be one of the greatest, if not
the greatest, there still is so much injustice is not only eye opening but also upsetting. One of the 2
most heartbreaking parts for me was when Kozol describes the old men leaning on his cane listening
to Jesse Jackson and crying. This is something so powerful to me because this is someone who has
experience all of the hardships that east St. Louis has to offer and he has to live knowing that not
much has change and maybe Jesse Jackson was the only one promising the change they deserve. The
last scene was when one of the students goes up to Kozol after class and tell him that what Dr. King
did was nothing because they are still living in such horrible situations. For a teenage kid to think and
feel that way, they must have had to suffer through so much, which is exactly what the article is able
to show us, the injustice that these kids face on a daily basis. Having read this is shocking to one
because we live in a different area where we aren t prone to see such things and because we have
grown up and taught to believe that racism and poverty is almost non existing because this is
American a country that doesn t fail the people.

East Of Eden Essay
When thinking about the gift offering in the biblical story of Cain and Abel and its impact, one can see
many similarities in East of Eden. Cain brought to God the fruit of the ground and Abel offered God
the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof (Gen 4 KJV). God preferred the gift of Abel to the gift
of Cain. In the first generation of the Trasks, Adam and Charles both give presents to their father
Cyrus for his birthday. Although it is clear that Cyrus is no God like figure, in this story he still has the
same role as God. He is the one, to whom the children offer their gifts and he shows preference of one
over the other. David McCright generalizes this in claiming that, God, though for Steinbeck only
psychologically speaking, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is then, when Caleb plans to give Adam 15,000 dollars that he made by investing in bean business.
Caleb hopes that this money will make up for a great loss of money that Adam suffered when a plan to
send lettuce to the east coast in refrigerated train cars failed. Adam rejects Caleb s money, following
the pattern of God rejecting or rather neglecting Cain s gift as Cyrus ignoring Charles knife. On the
other hand, it seems that Aron does not give their father any apparent gift, although many scholars, for
instance David McCright argues that Aron s gift is a subtle one. He simply returns home from college
for Thanksgiving and he is warmly received (McCright 24). This time, Steinbeck let the readers know
the most information about the gift that Caleb plans to give Adam. In the first offering, we only knew
about it thanks to Charles and his memories of it, but this is different, the readers can actually see how
much thought Caleb gave to it. He talks about making the money with Samuel s son, Will Hamilton,
who is also very clever and business oriented man. Will asks him why he wants to make that money
and give it to his father and he directly asks him if he wants to buy Adam s love, to which Caleb
replies that yes, he wants (East of Eden

CCPM methodology tackles resource contention before the project begins, aggregate the safety in
specified locations (buffers) rather then leaving it. The critical chain path typically is not the same as
the traditional critical path. CCPM is not merely a scheduling technique. The CCPM methodology
explicitly states that without the necessary changes in the scheduling rules will not only fail to achieve
improvement but may actually degrade performance.
Event chain methodology, a new way of scheduling is an uncertainty modeling and schedule network
analysis technique that is focused on identifying and managing events and event chains that affect
project schedules. Event chain methodology helps to mitigate the negative impact of psychological
heuristics and biases, as well as to allow for easy modeling of uncertainties in the project schedules.
Event Chain Methodology Objectives:
1. Mitigate effect motivational and cognitive biases in estimating and scheduling. In many cases,
project managers intentionally or unintentionally create project schedules that are impossible to

2. Simplify the process of defining risks and uncertainties in project schedules, particularly improve
the ability to provide reality checks and visualize multiple events.
3. Perform more accurate quantitative analysis while taking to an account such factors as relationship
between different events and actual moment of the events. Intaver Institute (N.D)

How Subversive Approaches Influence Others Align With An...
This week s case study has this author postulating if the use of subversive approaches to influence
others align with an individual s moral compass. Within this week s case study, this author is asked to
examine a situation where James O Keefe, a conservative activist, meets with the senior fundraiser for
National Public Radio (NPR), Ron Schiller, to discuss a potential donation of $5 million from an
ethnic organization. Unbeknownst to Schiller, his meeting with O Keefe was secretly recorded and
after imaginative alteration, is released, causing a tarnished reflection on not only Schiller, but NPR.
NPR could be considered a grass roots approach to community communication. As a non profit,
member supported platform, NPR provides stimulation for logical thinking, discussion, and even
question. Moreover, according to NPR (n.d) the organization is guided by accountability and
transparency in order to maintain credibility. As such, due to the blemish caused by O Keefe s
subversive approach to what seemed to be driven by a desire to halt federal money filtering into NPR
for broadcasting purposes, both NPR s chief executive and Schiller resigned. Merriam Webster (n.d.)

individuals, organizations, and governments to sabotage or weaken individual and organizational

Residential Schools In Monkey Beach By Eden Robinson
Residential schools are educational institutions established for Indigenous children. It was funded by
the Canadian government and administered by Christian churches with the sole purpose of civilizing
the native children and assimilate them into the modern western culture. In the novel Monkey Beach,
Eden Robinson describes the impact of residential schools on multiple characters in the story. Uncle
Mick, Aunt Trudy, and Josh are just a few who have experienced many types of abuse physical,
sexual, emotional and spiritual. Those horrid memories left permanent emotional scars and still resides
with them even until adulthood. Residential schools disrupted lives, isolated families, eliminated
cultural identity and caused long term problems among the Indigenous community. With the passage
of the British North American Act in the 1867 and the implementation of the Indian Act in 1876, the
government was required to provide Indigenous youth with an education to integrate them into
Canadian society (Brady 1995). The first residential schools were set up in the 1880s and peaked
around the 1920s. After the residential school system was established, children were stripped away
from their parents and had no freedom to choose whether they wanted to attend. In these schools
heavily controlled by catholic churches, children were forced to pray to whom they had no connection
with and forbidden to practice their own culture. The goal was to convert the children to Christianity

Ecological Perspective
The Ecological Perspective The ecological perspective conveys the elaborate transactions between
people and their environments (Greene, 2008). In order to understand someone, one must be able to

Current Sources Of The State Of Indonesia
In Indonesia, petroleum is one of the main sources of the state revenues. It is also a very important
strategic commodity and often as political issue. The revenues from oil and gas have driven the
economic growth and contributed significantly for the development of Indonesia. In the world,
legislations which regulate oil and gas are varies from country to country. In spite of many variations,
in general, the upstream oil and gas activities, based on two systems, the production sharing contracts
and the licensing systems. Indonesia was the country that introduced the concept of production sharing
contracts in 1966 (Bindemann, 1999).
After the verdict of Indonesian Constitutional Court in 2012 on The Oil and Gas Law, some of the
articles were unconstitutional and not legally binding. As a result, the government and the parliament
want to revise the oil and gas law and led to the ideas of replacing the production sharing contract with
the licensing system. Nevertheless, before Indonesia adopts the new system, many aspects should be
considered in designing legislations. Some of the aspects are the concept of natural resources
ownership, revenues for the state, and attractiveness for the investors.
Mean while, as the owner of natural resources, the government has the rights to control and regulate
petroleum resources. The government would also have to balance its demand for maximizing the

The Transformation Of American Law Essay
Horwitz, in The Transformation of American Law: 1780 1860, argues that a commercial elite class
worked with judges during the antebellum period to shift American law doctrine from anti commercial
to pro commercial doctrines. These new doctrines benefitted the commercial elites and forced America
to adopt capitalism over the original moral economy that was in place prior to the beginning shift in
American law in the 1780 s. Horwitz breaks the book up into eight distinct chapters, focusing on the
changing conception of law, a new conception of property, creating economic growth through the legal
system itself, competition and economic development, the relationship between the bar and
commercial interests, the emergence of contracts, the development of commercial law, and the rise of
legal formalism. The first chapter details the changing concepts of American law in that
instrumentalism became popular. Horwitz shows that judges move away from following precedent
around the turn of the century and instead were focusing on their own interpretations of the law. This
is shown through judges issuing new trials on account of juries issuing verdicts that they believed did
not fit with the evidence provided in the trials (29). Juries during this time were increasingly side lined

Modern Day Hero By Luigi Perrotta
Modern Day Hero By: Luigi Perrotta Over an a large number of years our picture of a saint has
changed So compelling. From the get go in the our reality a Legend was seen as somebody who
brought sustenance home for their familys, Somebody who is nonselfish supplier and an immaculate
hearted saint. Later on, on the other hand, Legends got to be something who did useful for all
individuals of the world. That is the place Superman becomes possibly the most important factor.
Superman is one of, if not one, most surely understood Legends. Yes he was conceived with super
powers, yet he is who a great many people based their primary perspective of a Saint on in any case he
speaks to a Super Legend and individuals see the distinction of the two

Ovarian Cancer Research Paper
Ovarian Cancer
Introduction
Ovarian cancer is a disease of an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells that are in the ovaries.
Ovaries produce eggs as well as hormones (estrogen, progestogen). Ovarian cancer is found in women
because they have two ovaries (the size of an almond) located on each side of the ovaries (Ovarian
cancer, 2000). Ovarian Cancer affects a lot of women. Statistics show that the risk of getting and
dying from ovarian cancer is one in ninety five. This cancer is the eighth most common cancer found
in women. Women have a risk of one in sixty five of getting this cancer in their lifetime. Therefore,
there is a lot of research gathered that explains: the pathophysiology, clinical manifestation, and
medical management.

This cancer is found in women and in their ovaries. During the early stages of ovarian cancer there are
typically no symptoms. However, symptoms do tend to appear. Symptoms in the early stages include:
abdominal bloating, abdominal swelling, feeling full quickly, weight loss, discomfort in the pelvis
area, changes in bowel habits such as constipation, and a frequent need to urinate (Norquist, 2007).
However, other symptoms may be present: fatigue, indigestion, heartburn, constipation, back pain,
menstrual irregulates, painful intercourse, and dermatomyositis. This cancer is very hard to identify
with these symptoms. The reason for this is because these symptoms are very vague and can point
physicians to other diagnosis. Therefore, ovarian cancer is best diagnosed in the early stages, so this
will not occur. Ovaries are located deep in the abdominal cavity, so it is very hard to feel a tumor.
Unfortunate, there is no diagnostic screening for ovarian cancer, so reporting any symptoms to a
doctor is very necessary. A doctor may require a pelvic exam if any symptoms are present. A pelvic
exam will allow the doctor to observe an abnormality. Small ovarian tumors are very hard to find
because they are small and press against the bladder and rectum. A doctor may also request a
rectovaginal pelvic examination. There are four other test that may be recommended: Transvaginal

Use Of Romantic And Identity Crushes In Shakespeare s...
Its clear to see that Shakespeare uses both romantic and identity crushes in the story Romeo and Juliet
but not only did Shakespeare show the different types of crushes but he revealed the danger of neglect
through the main characters parents. He got his audience thinking through his plays. One might
wonder if the parents neglect could have ultimately lead to the star crossed lovers death. The answer to
that would of course be yes and those inactive parents could have done as little as taking their children
s relationships seriously to have saved the doomed teenagers. In the Pickhart article, the author
explains how, Romantic crushes are formed by finding someone whom they find powerfully attractive,
who they feel excited to be around, and

The Framework And Statutory Frameworks
The workforce has developed rapidly over the years in relation to policy and statutory frameworks,
with an emphasis upon the national curriculum in relation to literacy. The frameworks is influenced by
political aspects by theoretical and political aspects. This has been reflected within practice as policy
brings change and implications for practitioners and managers. Research has gone a long way to
implement the revised national curriculum which was due to the concerns raised due to the fact as a
country we are falling behind on the national league tables as we are in position 23 (DfEE, 2013),
which is quite disappointing as English is our first language within Britain, and we have made no
improvements within the last three years (DfEE, 2013). The Greeks did not just invent an alphabet;
they invented literacy and literature basis of modern thought (Blake, 2002. et al). Therefore, schooling
became longer because after an extended period of learning to read and write, children had become
exposed to the literary of culture. Pupils are now learning about the world through reading in
classrooms (King, 2000). Our view of literacy needs to be critically examined rather than accepted
unquestioningly. As Tobin et al, (1989) so fascinatingly demonstrates, our values affect our curriculum
and our judgements of children (Marsh et al, 2008, p.24). A need to bring an internal change is
necessary for people to live well in an environmentally responsible society which builds a

  • 2. The Crucible Tone The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, revolves around the Salem witch trials of the 15th century. Much of what precedes the play portion of the novel is dedicated to establishing the background of the novel. This passage, in specific, sets the tone of the novel as it describes the ideology of the witch hunts, and how they came into effect. The passage summarizes the fundamental ideas of the witch hunts as a paradox stating, The witch hunt was a perverse manifestation of the panic which set among the classes when the balance began to turn toward greater individual freedom (Miller 11). These words are an important part of the novel because it lays out a groundwork which the rest of the ideas and concepts that are brought up in the novel will build themselves upon. Simply put, it sets the tone for the rest of the novel. It describes the fears that the characters have, and what conflicts they will undergo. For instance, signs of mob mentality can be gleamed from the passage. This can be seen when it says, balance has yet to be struck between order and freedom (Miller 11). ... Myth Of Child Abuse There exists a myth that abuse is perpetrated by scary dangerous strangers, and therefore to avoid them at all costs: don t get in the car with someone you don t know, don t open the door unless you know who it is, don t take candy from a stranger, etc. This deeply ingrained lesson is one we continue to pass on to our children in hopes of protecting them from harm. However, it is critical to know that in 9 out of 10 cases of abuse, children are violated by someone they know and trust (60% by family friends and acquaintances such as a babysitter, childcare provider, teacher, neighbor, or friend, and 30% by a family member such as cousins, siblings, uncles, or parents). The equilibrium constant, Keq, was found by multiplying the products concentrations, then dividing it by the equilibrium concentrations product of the reactant. As a customer and a new patient, I expect to walk into an office and be treated with the same respect as the next person in line. About two weeks ago, I went into the oral surgeon s office and was looking around to see a tiny, but crowed waiting room. I came into this office with high expectations, for my sister had just gotten her wisdom teeth removed in this office with exceptional service , as my mother put it. So I looked up at the receptionist s desk and found myself placed as the second person in line. There I stood, waiting in line for over twenty minutes! It felt like it was taking forever because there was a gentleman in front of me who didn t have his referrals. But order for him to proceed with an appointment, he needed the referrals. So the receptionist, decided to put her time into looking for his paperwork. Thankfully, while she s looking into it, she calls the next person in line. This happens to finally be my turn! I quickly proceeded to the receptionist s desk, to present my insurance cards. The reason why I have two insurance cards instead of just one is because I have Hodgkin s Lymphoma. That means I have a secondary insurance listed under the state s welfare policies for disabled children. Puxty (1998) said that a framework should be provided because of many different approaches that can be taken to define a subject. Also, in order to understand management accounting, it is necessary to study the assumptions and reasoning behind the various frameworks (Puxty, 1998). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The character is similar to treating the organisation as a closed system. Management accountants only focus on the factors occurred in the organisation and thus they perhaps omit the crucial factors from the outside. It means that management accountants perhaps have not address the root of the problem. Take labour variances as an example. The adverse labour rate variances may be completely the result of uncontrollable and external factors, such as national and local wage awards for individual skills and grades. As a result, the personnel department has no responsibility for the rate changes which lead to the adverse variance (Arnold and Turley, 1996). In this case, management accountants are not able to address the problem if they investigate the variance from the internal factors of the organisation. It could be said, therefore, that management accountants should not only view the actions and processes from the organisation but also from the outside environment. The second one is that it has an ahistorical viewpoint (Puxty, 1998). The historical analysis attempts to explain subjects through their history. As has been suggested, however, the conventional management accounting was claimed to be ahistorical and all actions and decisions are based on the present and future of the organisation (Dungworth, 2011). While doing our research, which for myself started on November 13th, I learned many new things about our healthcare system. It is common knowledge in Canada that our healthcare system also known as medicare is social. The Canadian Healthcare System is a group of socialized healthcare insurance plans that provides coverage of all Canadians, regardless of who they are or what their socioeconomic status is. Healthcare in Canada is paid through taxes (publicly funded) and administered on a provincial or territorial basis. Some interesting things about our healthcare system was that it was started by Tommy Douglas in 1947 who was the premier of Saskatchewan at the time. Tommy Douglas is known as the Father of Medicare and it is thanks to him, we even have our social healthcare system in the first place. Douglas believed that everyone deserved access to free healthcare, regardless of who they are (medical history, personal income, or standard of living), and that healthcare was simply a human right. Another Canadian in the system is Jane Philpott, who is currently the health minister of Canada, appointed by Justin Trudeau our prime minister. One last thing that I found fascinating was travel insurance. Since healthcare is administered on a provincial/territorial basis, you are only covered in the province that you live in. To many times people talk about the negative side of nuclear energy, and how it can impact the environment around them, but too few talk about how nuclear energy had improved their lives. For every dollar a nuclear power plant spends it generates an estimated 1.04 in the community, 1.18 in the state, and a 1.87 for the nation (Nuclear Energy Institute). Another reason that Christians should conduct their own research on the accuracy is so they can defend their faith and know why they believe what they believe. There are many people in our would today that believe certain facts and information to be true only because friends or family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This account was an early example that shows us that even before Jesus came, God the Father performed miracles. Through research Dr. Gary Habermas, a scholar in New Testament history and has conducted lots of research for providing sound evidence to support the New Testament, discovered that many agree and recognize Jesus miracles dealing with healings and exorcisms, but deny the nature miracles. The fact that Jesus miracles are listed and discussed in each of the Gospels show proof that Jesus really did perform miracles. Dr. Gary Habermas stated, medical studies of certain miraculous phenomena today indicate that we are still not able to account for all such incident in purely naturalistic terms. That statement from Dr. Habermas shows that one cannot account for the miracles through naturalistic elements, but rather have to acknowledge that Jesus really did perform miracles. To know that in a country that is suppose to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest, there still is so much injustice is not only eye opening but also upsetting. One of the 2 most heartbreaking parts for me was when Kozol describes the old men leaning on his cane listening to Jesse Jackson and crying. This is something so powerful to me because this is someone who has experience all of the hardships that east St. Louis has to offer and he has to live knowing that not much has change and maybe Jesse Jackson was the only one promising the change they deserve. The last scene was when one of the students goes up to Kozol after class and tell him that what Dr. King did was nothing because they are still living in such horrible situations. For a teenage kid to think and feel that way, they must have had to suffer through so much, which is exactly what the article is able to show us, the injustice that these kids face on a daily basis. In the first generation of the Trasks, Adam and Charles both give presents to their father Cyrus for his birthday. Although it is clear that Cyrus is no God like figure, in this story he still has the same role as God. Adam rejects Caleb s money, following the pattern of God rejecting or rather neglecting Cain s gift as Cyrus ignoring Charles knife. On the other hand, it seems that Aron does not give their father any apparent gift, although many scholars, for instance David McCright argues that Aron s gift is a subtle one. He simply returns home from college for Thanksgiving and he is warmly received (McCright 24). • 42. The Transformation Of American Law Essay Horwitz, in The Transformation of American Law: 1780 1860, argues that a commercial elite class worked with judges during the antebellum period to shift American law doctrine from anti commercial to pro commercial doctrines. These new doctrines benefitted the commercial elites and forced America to adopt capitalism over the original moral economy that was in place prior to the beginning shift in American law in the 1780 s. Horwitz breaks the book up into eight distinct chapters, focusing on the changing conception of law, a new conception of property, creating economic growth through the legal system itself, competition and economic development, the relationship between the bar and commercial interests, the emergence of contracts, the development of commercial law, and the rise of legal formalism. The first chapter details the changing concepts of American law in that instrumentalism became popular. Horwitz shows that judges move away from following precedent around the turn of the century and instead were focusing on their own interpretations of the law. This is shown through judges issuing new trials on account of juries issuing verdicts that they believed did not fit with the evidence provided in the trials (29). Juries during this time were increasingly side lined during the trial process. The second chapter has Horwitz looking back to the agrarian economy and the doctrines surrounding property, detailing how these doctrines shifted to an understanding of ...
