Persuasive Essay On Violent Video Games
Crafting a persuasive essay on the impact of violent video games is no simple task. The
intricacies involved in presenting a compelling argument require a deep understanding of both
sides of the debate. It demands meticulous research to gather evidence, statistics, and expert
opinions that support your stance while anticipating and addressing counterarguments. The
challenge lies not only in presenting a coherent and logical flow of ideas but also in striking the
right balance between emotional appeal and factual reasoning.
The complexity of the subject adds an extra layer of difficulty, as it necessitates navigating
through a myriad of psychological, sociological, and cultural factors. Delving into the potential
effects of violent video games on individuals, especially young minds, requires a nuanced
approach. Presenting a well-grounded thesis that not only captures the attention of the reader but
also compels them to reconsider their preconceived notions is a formidable task.
Moreover, the controversial nature of the topic demands a careful selection of language to avoid
coming across as biased or one-sided. Striking the right tone, backed by a comprehensive
understanding of the subject matter, is crucial for the essay's success. This means taking the time
to develop a clear thesis statement and organizing the information in a way that builds a
persuasive case.
In conclusion, writing a persuasive essay on the impact of violent video games is a challenging
endeavor that requires thorough research, a nuanced understanding of the topic, and the ability
to construct a compelling argument. It demands the writer's skill to navigate through complex
issues while presenting a balanced perspective. Only with these elements in place can one hope
to create an essay that not only persuades but also enlightens the reader.

Claudia Rankine Analysis
This past Friday, I attended Claudia Rankine s reading at Fordham University
Lincoln Center. Going into the reading I had no real idea of what was going to be
discussed nor the true significance of her work, all I knew is that she is an
important and worldly renowned poet. In the reading, she read excerpts from her
book named Citizen An American Lyric. Which focuses on micro aggressions
towards people of color. These events are examples of everyday racismthat can be
experienced by people of color in the US. Though I have read some of her work in
the past, attending this reading and actually hearing the author express her work
through her own emotions really took things to another level. It showed me a whole

Essay On Hari Om Plywood
CHAPTER I: INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION:
The history of plywood industry in India is old. It is more than 75 years that this
industry was started here on a very modest scale. It was in the year 1906 07 that
plywood was imported in India for the first time valued at Rs.32 lacs. Imports rose
steadily and by 1924 25 it were worthRs.90 lacks. Tea Industry in Assam, West
Bengal and Kerala was steadily developing and it was thought that plywood industry
in the form of Tea Chests production mainly for export should be developed.
Accordingly two plywood factories were started in Assam in 1923 24 but their
development was steady and slow and not phenomenal. These were the pioneers and

Conversion Disorder
Conversion disorder is a medical condition where its sufferers present neurological
symptoms such as paralysis, numbness, blindness or fits without a known
neurological trigger. Conversion disorder, formerly known as hysteria is considered
a psychiatric disorder by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,
which classifies it as a somatoform disorder. Contrary, World Health Organization s
International Classification of Diseases
(ICD 10) classifies it as a dissociative disorder.
The diagnosis of this neurological disorder has been problematic in the past, since
doctors have conceptually and practically differentiated its symptoms from those of
neurological diseases for which it is known to be. Most psychologists have ... Show

The diagnosis of conversion disorder involves three elements all of which present
some degree of controversy. These three elements are: the exclusion of neurological
disease, feigning and finally the determination of a psychological mechanism.
During the first stage, conversion disorder may resemble neurological disorders
such as multiple sclerosis, stroke or epilepsy therefore they must be carefully
excluded through appropriate examinations. In rare cases, patients with neurological
disease may also have conversion disorder, which further complicates the
determination of the degree of the conversion disorder in the patient. Exclusion of
conscious simulation is only possible where a patient confesses or is caught out in a
broader deception. Lastly, establishment of a psychological mechanism is the most
difficult aspect of conversion disorder diagnosis. DSM IV recommends that
clinicians assume preceding stressors to be associated with the progress of the
disorder which is still a subject of debate.
Notably, cultural influences have been noted to affect the somatoform disorders.
Cultures such as the Puerto Rican and the Greek are known to report higher rates of
somatization disorders among the men than is the case in the United States. In
addition, cases of somatization disorders are less common among persons with
higher levels of education compared to the less educated. According to Robert
(2002), rates are higher outside of the west, which can be attributed to
Raspberry Ketone
Part I Essay For ages we all have craved the body of an Adonis/ Aphrodite`s, some
say that this are just genes passed on, some say that you can only get it with intense
training at least 4 times a week. But the 21 century, the century of speed, no one
has time to lose countless hours in the gym so we started looking for some help.
We tried different chemicals but in the end we realized that the answer was still in
Mother Nature. And so Raspberry Ketone was discovered. A raspberry ketone is
generally described as the aromatic element of a raspberry that one first recognizes
when in close proximity of a raspberry. While this ketone clearly affects the scent
associated with a raspberry, this is not the only thing that can be... Show more content

In 1965, the US Food and Drug Administration placed raspberry ketone on
generally recognized as safe status for the small quantities used as a food additive,
but they still don`t know the full side effects for prolonged exposure. Facts still are
inclined to the fact that the Ketones do more good than bad, until otherwise
proven, as such the market for this product is simply hot and their products are
flying off the shelves. With over 20 companies now producing different strains and
blends of the compound, it is one of the best sold products on the market today
(2.4 .bil a year). It is widely sold on over ~300 websites and it is present on every
sales market such as eBay, Amazon etc, TV coverage is still not short. Dr. Oz
featured Raspberry Ketones in his February, 2012 episode entitled The #1 Miracle
in a Bottle to Burn Your Fat and invited weight loss expert Lisa Lynn on the
popular show to discuss how her clients lost weight successfully while taking
Raspberry Ketones. Dr. Oz called Raspberry Ketones worth experimenting with
while stressing that this is not a magic remedy; dieters still need to eat healthy
foods and be active. Raspberry Ketones could, the Doctor said, help get you over
the hump, so people should use it for that purpose, not as a miracle pill. His guests
show pictures before and after, and then Dr. Oz held a speech explaining how this
works.
Case Study Gillette Strategic Management
Case study discussion Gillette loses face This is a deceptively simple looking
case. The lazy student will simply adopt the critical line on the company s strategy
being fed to him or her by Jeremy Kahn, the author of the article. In fact, things are
by no means so clear cut, students need to do some careful analysis, particularly in
the area of Gillette s corporate level strategy, before this becomes plain. They have to
be prepared to think hard about the success factors in the different businesses if they
simply pick out the points proffered by the case study, then they will not derive the
full benefit from the case. 1. What were the most important strategic issues

The most interesting analysis in this case takes place at corporate level. The case
talks about the Gillette way : the use of superior technology and good
communications skills. However, it is worthwhile asking students what else
Gillette s three superstar businesses have in common. Gillette razors, Oral B
toothbrushes and Duracell batteries are all consumer businesses where the
emphasis is on mass production and mass marketing of a low tech but innovation
hungry products sold at low unit prices through supermarkets, drugstores and other
mass market retail outlets, such as filling stations. Gillette s parenting skills
appear to apply in such industries. One can then ask how well the other businesses
fit the pattern. It seems fairly clear that toiletries do not. The pens business is,
however, less clear cut it can be argued that Papermate s downmarket pens fit the
bill, but Parker s and Waterman s more up market products do not (though the
Parker brand appears to be less exclusive than once it was). The Braun range is even
more problematic is it really as obvious as the article makes it seem that Gillette,
which has made a success of electric toothbrushes cannot do the same with electric
shavers and kettles? Tefal has made a point of introducing small,

Urbanization Dbq
Midyear Essay Rewrite The expansion of trade led to the urbanization of Europe in
the late Middle Ages through the development of towns, guilds, and the rise of
education. Urbanization is the process by which cities form and expand.
As trade expanded, a city s popularity could grow and more merchants would want
to travel there to receive more business and customers. Paris was located at the
cross of major trade routes and merchants who set up there could make more profit
as more people would pass through Paris compared to other cities. This led to more
merchants wanting to set up in Paris and Paris grew to be a large, influential city. The
rise in Paris s economy from the merchants and customers transactions led to Paris s
wealth, and its expansion and urbanization. As trade routes expanded, locations at the

Guilds were small groups of people in the same trade within a city. Guilds helped
to ensure that everything was fair and members were being taken care of. A guild
of bakers would ensure that each baker within the guild had a similar number of
customers by banning marketing. Guilds would take care of such members
families and help members through financial issues with guild funds. Guilds that
required travel had people travel together in groups to prevent robberies and
ensure the safety of each member. Being a guild member allowed much more
freedom to take risks which was a good way to potentially earn more money as the
guild would support them if something went wrong, as well as physical safety. The
protection that guilds offered helped trade grow even further as member felt safer
and were willing to trade more. The expansion of trade allowed guilds to form in the
first place, indirectly causing urbanization through guilds, as the guilds led to a
further growth of
An Essay on Jamba Juice

because it has grown to become one of the nation s best known smoothie chains,
emphasizing the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and because the company is looking
for international expansion opportunities. We chose Spain as our target country for
expansion of our product due to its current economic status and economic growth
forecasts for the future. This combination provides the firm with an opportunity to

The government of Spain actively supports the small business sector of the
economy. As of 2006 there were over 3 million small and medium sized businesses
in Spain, representing over 99% of all businesses in the country. The Spanish
government provides various grants and incentives for the creation and expansion of
small businesses in Spain as well as support and services to business owners. Recent
government campaigns and initiatives have focused on support for entrepreneurs,
primarily in response to Spain s economic goals for the future. Increasing
competitiveness and promoting innovation were identified as key strategies to
maintain, grow and keep Spain s economy dynamic (Dreamer, 2008). The key factors
such as strong economy, large population base, expansive tourist trade and active
government involvement provide a strong argument for migration into Spain s
marketplace.
Reasons for Expansion
Jamba has become a way of life for millions of Americans and the company believes
that they can extend that opportunity to Spain and other international marketplaces. A
recent Piper Jaffray report suggested that the company has room to grow not only in
U.S. markets but internationally as well (Fuhrmann, 2007).

in the world did America have to do to cause such a massive amount of dust to

Understanding The Intricacies Of Ministry
A Practical Approach to Understanding the Intricacies of Ministry
For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them.
Aristotle, The Nicomachean Ethics
Like any other profession, the call to ministry requires intense preparation. In fact, the
process of personal and professional development of clerical leaders demands the
necessary interplay between theory and praxis. Certainly, while courses in exegesis,
ethics, systematic theology and critical interpretation among others are designed to
expand the theoretical, supervised ministry transports the budding theologian directly
into the practical realm of ministry through practice .
Over the course of the semester I have gleaned valuable insights through baptism by
emersion into the often unseen realities that shape ministry within the context of
local congregations. Often the external structures visible to members of the laity do
not accurately reveal the internal elements of planning, organizing, and coordination
required for effective ministry. Certainly, my experience has reaffirmed the notion
that ministry can be demanding. In other words, I have come to the conclusion that
the call to ministry is a call to challenging, yet meaningful work. At the very onset of
the supervised ministry process, I relished the opportunity to increase my
understanding of the life, and work, of the 21st century minister, I had a myriad of
questions concerning issues such as the daily demands on the minister s
Nt1310 Unit 2 Case Study Betas
Looking at the betas (Exhibit1) we can clearly define two different segments in the
sample. Segment1 is a steady segment, the customers in this group are not much
affected by both actions and external factors, and moreover, they have a positive base.
Therefore, they are probably willing to continue their relationship even without any
solicitations from the company. On the other side, we find Segment2. The customers
in this segment are much more unstable as both the action and the external betas are
higher values than in Segment1. Also, this segment shows a negative base, that,
combined with the strong negative external beta coefficient, means the company has
to activate some kind of solicitations in order to maintain the customer, otherwise she
is going to be predictably lost.
Anyway, the members in the second segment are a minority as we can see from the
parameter q1, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

higher is better, in our model it is just over zero; AIC has no an upper limit but it is
the lower the better, in our model it is over five hundred. Though, the most
significant indicator is the third, the Hit Ratio. The value itself is not that bad, it is
over sixty percent, but the big concern is that the Hit Ratio of the model is exactly
the same as the proportion of retention in the model. Hence, we would reach the
same accuracy in the result just assuming that all the members of our sample are
going to be retained. It could be due to the combined effects of having a high
percentage (q1) of customers in segment1 which is, as we saw in the betas analysis,
the group that naturally tend to be retained. Anyway, all the three indicators clearly

Hedgehog Pathway Essay
The hedgehog (Hh) signalling pathway is important in ensuring normal and correct
development of an organism during embryogenesis (Motoyama et al., 2003), and
many important aspects of this pathway are conserved in animals as distinct as the fly
and the human (McMahon and Ingham, 2001; Varjosalo and Taipale, 2008),
accentuating further the importance of the pathway. Volhard and Wieschaus
discovered the hedgehog genein the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster in the late
1980s, in their search for mutations that would disturb the body plan of fly larvae.
They were able to find genes involved in the segmental pattern of the larva that, when
mutated, would alter this segmentation (Nusslein Volhard and Wieschaus, 1980).
Depending on the situation, the hedgehog signalling can result in different outcomes,
for example it could act as a morphogen, a long range signalling molecule that acts
in a dose specific way to induce and establish cell fate within a cell population, or it
could act as a mitogen to stimulate cell proliferation, regulating organ development
(Ingham and McMahon, 2001; Jiang and Hui, 2008). Human embryos in which
hedgehog signalling is defect, acquire brain, face and other abnormalities,
demonstrating the vital importance of the pathway during development (Briscoe and
ThГ©rond, 2013), while over activation of the hedgehog pathway in adults is known
to lead to different types of cancer (Gupta, Takebe, and LoRusso, 2010; Jiang and
Hui, 2008). The proteins belonging to the Hh family have been identified as very

Aging Begins As A Young Adult
FALL RISK2 The Process of aging begins as a young adult. A new life is so tender,
fragile, helpless, and in need of care from others. Toddlers are wobbly as they take
their first steps and learn to run, falling and bumping their little round heads and
chubby knees. Toward the end of life no matter how healthy, strong, or willing they
are, older adult begin slowing down which puts them at a risk for falling. Their
metabolism is much slower than it once was, they have less energy and endurance
which results in decreased muscle tone due to the lack of use, and osteoporosis sets

The natural aging process is only partially responsible for falls in the elderly
population. Several factors put an older person at a risk for falls which include:
certain medications and polypharmacy, mental illness, certain diseases such as
Alzheimer s and dementia, drug abuse, vision changes, incontinence, impulsive
behavior, vertigo, and clutter in a room causing patient to stumble. According to
the Stubbs (2011) , the most crucial piece of a patient s history to predict a fall is if
the patient has fallen before. The Center For Disease Control (2011) states that
every 17 seconds an older adult will require emergency medical treatment for a fall
related injury and that even more concerning, in the next 30 minutes an older adult
will die from injuries sustained from the fall . The trained healthcare staff, especially
the nurse, has a significant role and responsibility in identifying and taking all
necessary measures to help each patient avoid falling. Understanding that different
elderly patients fall for different reasons is crucial in preventing falls in patients. Hill
Fauerbach (2014) describe three types of falls that occur in a health care facility:
Anticipated Falls are attributed to know physiological conditions and are most
common, 78% of patient falls.

Essay on The Federal Reserve System
The Federal Reserve System
Why do a research paper on the Federal Reserve System? This is a question we went
over in our heads while making a decision on the type of research paper to do, what
we wanted to learn more about and why. Over the past few years we have realized the
impact that the Federal Government has on our economy, yet we never knew enough
about the subject to understand why. While taking this Economics course it has

Another control occasionally used by the Federal Reserve Board is that of changing
the margin requirements involved in the purchase of securities. The Federal Reserve
System was founded by Congress in 1913 to provide the nation with a safer, more
flexible and more stable monetary and financial system. Over the years its role in
banking and the economy has expanded. Today the Federal Reserve s Duties fall into
four general areas:
$Conducting the nation s monetary policy by influencing the money and credit
conditions in the economy in pursuit of full employment and stable prices.
$Supervising and regulating banking institutions to ensure the safety and soundness
of the nation s banking and financial system to protect the credit rights of consumers.
$Maintaining the stability of the financial system and containing systemic risk that
may arise in financial markets.
$Providing certain financial services to the United States government, the public,
financial institutions, and to foreign official institutions, including playing a major
role in operating the nation s payments system.
Before Congress created the Federal Reserve System, periodic financial panics had
plagued the nation. These panics had contributed to many bank failures, business
bankruptcies, and general economic downturns. A severe crisis in 1907 prompted

narrator who sounds eloquent, educated, and factual, related to us the outside frame
tale of Janie returning to town as the sun sets, and how she is seen by the people
sitting on the porch as she encoutners he old friend Pheoby. The factual account of
Janie s return is quietly transitioned into the metaphorical narrative as if with the
presence of Janie, the story must likewise be changed. Hurston relates the porch

Wall-E Analysis
Imagine living in a grey world. Never able to see or feel the warmth of the sun.
The small amount left of water, polluted. People in their seats, blinded by the
screens in front of them. A drastic increase of obesity and cardiovascular diseases.
Of course obesity may go away in the future, due to the lack of foodwhich leads to
starvation. How would you feel seeing the ones you love begging for a job? Without
money? And soon, without food or shelter? Not knowing where they are anymore?
Characteristics of human nature, gone? This is where we will end up, if we let
technology develop further and let it consume us.

Humans will be pushed to a new future: obesity, lazy, careless, and an increasing in
respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. For example, in Wall E , the movie gives a
clear example of what this world will turn into. The technology is pushing us into
that type of world: the empty world full of garbage, no trees, plants, animals, etc.
There is rarely any life on earth. People are ignoring their surroundings, going
nowhere in life because they stopped for watching technology. They aren t creating
any memories and friends, not even caring about their emotional, mental, and
physical health, even if they deny it. Some of these events are already happening,
Global Warming. In China, there are hospitals filled with sick people, mostly
children who are vulnerable to all the smog. All of the horror happened because
China wanted to succeed and go further in the world of technology, and this is how
they ended up: people breathing in chemicals wherever they go, not able to see the
sun or even other cars on the highways, dying from the toxic air around them. These
course of events is where the machines are pushing us
Examples Of Imagery In The Book Night
Imagery In Elie Wiesel s Novel Night In the novel Night written by Elie Wiesel
there are many graphic descriptions that leave you horrified and utterly shocked. By
using this descriptive imagery Wiesel helped form the purpose and tone
throughout the troubled memoir. During WWII Hitler, the leader of Germany and
conqueror of many other areas surrounding Germany, he and his army targeted the
jewish community and took extreme measures to try and eradicate them. In
chapter 2 of the memoir, as Wiesel and his family along with many other jews are
trained away to Auschwitz, a woman, Mrs. Schachter, begins to see fire and screams
relentlessly for days at a fire no one could see except for her, Jews listen to me, she
cried. I see a fire! I see... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the memoir, Wiesel often uses it s beyond words to describe some of the awful
things he witnessed and went through as a young man. Wiesel often spared some
details when telling of some of the things he saw leaving it up to our imaginations,
for instance, Behind me, an old man fell to the ground. Near him was an SS man,
putting his revolver back in its holster (Wiesel 2006) Wiesel never said the officer
had shot the man, but infers it and let s our minds fly with the few possibilities.
The purpose of doing this may be accredited to the fact that Wiesel had to put
remarkably horrifying human experiences into words and with that created a style
of letting the readers mind fill the blanks. Wiesel, also uses this style of writing
after having just seen a son let his father fall in front of him without a word My
God, Lord of the Universe, give me strength never to do what Rabbi Eliahou s son
has done. (Wiesel 2006), as the memoir progresses his father grows more unhealthy
and weak and eventually passes leaving Wiesel almost relieved he can survive on
his own and fight for one, he regrets it many years later in
Don Quixote By The Spanish Author Cervantes
Essay
Don Quixote, a novel by the Spanish author Cervantes, is widely considered the first
modern novel because of the depth of character development within the story (Q A,
p. 3). One such well developed character is Sancho Panza, a lowly peasant who
follows Don Quixote throughout the story and is witness to his many adventures.
The reason for Sancho s dedication to Don Quixote is multi faceted and stems from
his greed for personal riches and fame, his curiosity about Don Quixote s madness,
and his eventual true loyalty to his master. Sancho s ability to change his tune
depending on the situation makes him one of the more complex and interesting
characters in the novel. Many of the qualities that he possesses contradict one
another; for example, he can be a greedy opportunist, but at the same time, he serves
his master well on many occasions. Another example of Sancho s complexity is seen
when Don Quixote often comments upon Pancho s uneducated simplemindedness;
however, several times in the story Sancho displays a surprising amount of practical
wisdom. Also, at times throughout the novel, Sancho berates Don Quixote for his
delusional fantasies, but at other times, Sancho allows himself to be caught up in
Don Quixote s madness. As is the case for most real life people, Sancho Panza is full
of contradictions and flaws, but these faults help to make him one of the most
realistic characters in the novel.
From Sancho s first appearance in the novel (First Part, Chapter VII), as
When Hearing The Term `` Be On Time ``
The first thing I need to do is often making sure I am at the right place, at the right
time or just with time to spare. This can be an easy task that is easy and painless to
do, and it will be completed. When hearing the term be on time , almost every
individual can comprehend what that phrase means; since it s been a phrase that s
been used throughout history. A phrase with so much importance, that it must be
written to understand it. The societies we live in use this phrase be on time for
many reasons. Every company, school, banks, and etc use it in their policies and
their daily lives; from being on time for work, to completing an assignment on
time. It helps display a foundation on how an individual preserves themselves, as
well as for companies and organizations. It displays their professionalism to others.
It provides security in objectives knowing that everything is going according to
schedule. As such, this simple phrase be on time comes with many positives if
followed correctly. There are many obvious reasons as to why being on time is
important. Just by showing up on time it shows that you have the maturity,
responsibility and professionalism. It shows that you re a hard worker and that you
re ready to get the job done. As well, it makes you reliable to take on objectives
when they are presented to you. Just being on time will just bring so many positive
benefits, from getting the promotion or even just being noticed. In the Army
Disadvantages Of Federalism
Federalism is a type of government where the power is divided between local
governments and federal governments. The U.S., India, Australia, Russia and Brazil
are some examples of federalist countries. While this type of practice has its upsides,
it has downsides as well as alternatives. One alternative to a federal system would be
a unitary system. While a federal government(such as the one in the U.S.) divides
power between national governments and local governments, a unitary
government does not and all the power is in the national government ex if the U.S.
used a unitary government, marijuana would either be legal or illegal in the whole
country compared to in the current federal government where various states have
marijuana legalized such as; Washington, California, Colorado, and others haven t
legalized this drug; Texas, Idaho, Utah. A common misconception about a unitary
government is that it is a dictatorship, which is not the case at all, they can still be
democracies like France, question is would the people be more comfortable with
all the power in the central government or a division of that power to local or state
governments. The balance of power between the federal and state government has
had some changes over time, with laws being put in place to ensure each has a fair
area to control. In the U.S., the Civil War took place because the south believed that
the state had the right to make its own decision on slavery while the north disagreed

peticiГіn.
Durante siglos, la eutanasia ha sido normalmente entendida como el proceso
mediante el cual el alivio del dolor de la muerte era la mejor manera de garantizar una
muerte fГЎcil. Sin embargo, eso cambiГі a finales del siglo XIX, cuando la eutanasia
adquiriГі su connotaciГіn moderna.
The Importance Of Mass Communication
In today s society, worldwide communication is at the palm one s hands. In just
seconds, someone can send a message to someone halfway across the world with
very little effort. The mass use of this fast as light communication can cause one to
become so accustomed to it that they see it as the norm. Due to this exponential
increase in technology, it is easy to forget about how message were communicated
before there was any technology available to communicate with. Mass
communication traces back all the way to a time before even written languages had
been created. The root of all communication was storytelling. For people like the
Ancient Greeks, though, storytelling was much more than just a form of
communication. It was a form of art and entertainment. Some people s job was solely
to tell stories. Bards and minstrel were tasked with entertaining people, especially
royalty and the elite, with stories from the past. However, entertainment does not
express the true value of storytelling in Ancient Greece. The real reason storytelling
was so prominent is those time was because it was a form of survival. Storytelling as
a mode of survival is prominently seen in Homer s work, The Odyssey. The main
character, Odysseus, uses storytelling as a tactic to stay alive during his hero quest. In
many situations throughout the work, his skill at telling stories prevents him from
being killed and helps him get closer to returning to his home in Ithaca. Storytelling

Norm Violation Essay
I believe what Garfinkel means in background assumptions is how we commonly
go throughout the day and the order we do things in. In my norm violation I am
going to not follow the order my culture eats dinner in. The norm violation I
decided to do is ordering dessert first at a restaurant. This is a norm violation
because you are suppose to order your appetizer first, then your entree and lastly
your dessert. I decided that Fender s Diner would be an excellent place to do my
experiment. I dine here a good bit and usually order their salads so this will be
different for me. Fenders Diner is a locally owned restaurant known for its 1950 s
Rock n Roll American theme. On a Sunday after church lets out is when I decided
to do to do my ethnomethodology experiment. I also brought my sister who is
known for her sweet tooth. As we sit down at our table our slightly overweight
waiter immediately greets us. We order chocolate milkshakes and our waiter
smiles and says, Wait! No lemon water this time? This is the first reaction we
received. It made me feel a little nervous because if he is already reacting to our
drinks, how is he going to react to the rest of the dinner. After we receive our
milkshakes we ordered our ice cream brownie delux. Our waiter laughs and asks if
that would be all. I explain to him that we would still like an entree but that we
want our dessert first. We then order a burger and some fries. He then warns us that
we may start looking like him if we keep this up this diet. This made me
uncomfortable because I was unsure how to respond... Show more content on

Parental Pressure on Children Playing Organized Sports
Essay
These days, there is too much pressure on children who participate in organized
sports because of the unnecessary parental involvement they experience. A growing
concern amongst those involved in youth sports is that certain aspects of parental
involvement become detrimental to the development and experiences of young
athletes. Early emphasis on winning, making money, and the disruption of education
can exceedingly affect ones desire to further participate in a sportlater on in his/her
life.
With more and more children participating in some sort of organized sport than ever
before, there is a constant concern regarding the pressures kids are brought into to

Then, of course, the entire project collapsed. Drug addiction with its attendant legal
and publicity problems arrived, and the NFL career blew up. The kid went
through rehab and came back, but relapsed, and relapsed and relapsed again finally
leaving sports all together. Tiger Woods, the Williams sisters, and Todd Marinovich
are all examples of kids who were mainly edged on by his/her parent. Kids should not
have to experience stress because of the pressure parents may put on them, nor
should they need to believe that a loss is unacceptable. There s just no reason why
sports should have any negative aspects at all. Especially when there are so many
positive things that sports can do for a child if introduced and carried out in the right
way, specifically at a young age.
Over time, these youngsters may be permanently emotionally exhausted causing
some to turn to steroids in hope to gain an edge or perhaps give up on sports, and
exercise, altogether. Intense training, of coaches from club or travel teams, becomes
an enticement to win the next season which may carry on to the off season to train
and become better than the best. But where s the fun in that? When will kids have
the time to try out other sports?
An increase in the number of reported instances of parents engaging in abusive,
violent, and controlling behavior toward coaches,

Gender Stereotypes in Little Red Cap and The Grandmother
The folk tale of Little Red Riding Hood has numerous variations and interpretations
depending on what recorded version is being read or analyzed. Little Red Cap, by
the Grimm Brothers, and The Grandmother, as collected by Achille Millien, are
different in numerous ways: the depth of the narrative structure, characters involved,
length yet, the moral lesson is largely unchanged between the two versions. One of
the more glaring differences between the two versions is the way that the narrator
and the actions of the characters are used to describe the young girl, female, and the
wolf, male. Being either female or male are matters of biological makeup. The
characteristics of femininity and masculinity that are associated with being... Show

The majority of the story is reiterated through dialogue that allows the girl s words,
but also her actions, to speak of her sweetness, or lack thereof, rather than an
arbiter such as the narrator. The reader must decide whether or not the actions of
the young girl are of merit. For example, the story begins, There was a woman who
had made some bread. She said to her daughter, Go and carry a hot loaf and a bottle
of milk to your grandmother. So the little girl set forth (Millien). It is safe for the
reader to assume that the young girl is obedient because that is all the reader has
seen of the young girl, she has not taken any other action and there is not a narrator
who prescribes any other attribute. The lack of a narrator preemptively assigning
causal relation between the young girl s action and her reception in the community
allows the act of obedience to represent a virtuous quality, rather than a virtuous
quality that is inherently feminine, as the Grimm brother version does with the
quality of being sweet. After defining the young girl as sweet in the Grimm version
the mother gives the girl instructions to take cake and wine to the ailing grandmother.
The instructions given by the mother are, Mind your manners and give her my
greetings. Behave yourself on the way, and do not leave the path, or your might fall
down and break the glass [. . .] (Grimm). The instructions given by the mother indicate
Using A Spinning Centrifuge On Earth
gradually heating the ship and leading to a host of mechanical issues that could have
an effect the steering, spinning, or integrity of the ship itself. This theoretical
example was actually tested to see the effects of simulating gravity for humans
through use of a spinning centrifuge on Earth. The experiment s design was to
determine whether or not the subjects would develop an symptoms of AMS or acute
motion sickness. (Antonutto, 1992) The researchers discovered that none of the
subjects developed any symptoms as a result of the substitution of centripetal forcefor
gravitational force.(Antonutto, 1992) This gives a lot of hope for that method of
combatting muscular atrophy, spinal disk elongation, and the other previously
mentioned effects, but this seems very resource intensive to implement on all future
designs, there is also very low practicality in this design. Every portion of the ship
would need to be build orientated along the interior curve of the ship. This would be
very disorientating for taking off and landing with proper orientation to the ground.
There is another method of ensuring an astronaut s simulation of gravity to prevent
the reversible side effects of weightlessness. Instead of making the entire vessel
emulate gravity through centripetal force, there is available technology that can
create a force to act on the individual. It is an exercise method and accompanying
apparatus that claims to reduce muscular atrophy and loss of bone density more
My Personal Identity
Typically for most teenagers, it is difficult to define who they are as a person... but
not for me. I would not define myself in any particular context. I strive for the
things I want in life, and do what it takes to accomplish my goals. There are
multiple categories I particularly focus on for my own benefits such as, where I
have chosen to attend college and the field I portray interest in majoring, how
athletics have impacted my life, and the reflection of who I have been throughout
my seventeen years of life. When analyzing those topics, I reflect on my past and
use it as a reference for how I would like my future to turn out. Throughout my life,
I have had the ability to move over thirteen times, attend nine schools, and engage
in the world s diversity and different scenery when doing so.[E. Real life]
Ultimately when traveling and moving to various places, fashion has been the one
thing that tends to catch my eye. Between both traveling and fashion I have chosen

admire fashion so much? I believe fashion is showing who you are without the
expression of voice. Being able to have the ability to travel around the world

Global Warming And Climate Change Myths
If you want to go beyond that small percentage of people who are already
environmentally and scientifically aware, you have to make your work somehow
link with a passion, interest, or profession of someone who isn t interested in science
or nature (Nalini Nadkarni, n.d.). Like most who are not fully educated on a subject
until they research it or take a course on it, I was not aware of the overall importance
or impact that environmental sciencehad on my everyday life and the world around
me. One of the major things that have been brought to my attention in this course is
environmental issues, and what I can do to help improve them. One of the convincing
arguments that have not only shaped my attitude, but cleared a lot of things up for
me was reading and learning about Global Warmingand climate change myths. One
of the myths on the list that stood out to me was, They changed the name from
Global Warming to Climate Change (Global Warming Climate Change Myths,
2016). According to the scientists, both terms actually mean two different things,
and have both been used for decades, proving that myth to be false. Another big
myth that seems to occupy the minds of a very large part of the world s population
is, It s not an urgent situation. To this, scientists have responded (and I fully agree)
with, A large amount of warming is delayed, and if we don t act now we could pass
tipping points (Global Warming Climate Change Myths, 2016). Another topic that

a. How the World Wide Webworks.... The World Wide Web is an organisation in
which web resources and other documents are identified by URLs as well as
interlinked by hypertext documents and can be amassed over the internet.
The World Wide Web works through the http protocol and the servers connected to
the web attend requests through the internet. The URL consists of protocol in which
the server retrieves the indicated document and creates a response which is sent back
to the user.
b. The purpose of ISPs.... An ISP (internet service provider) is an institution and its
purpose is to provide assistance to individuals and groups that are accessing the
internet. The more popular and bigger ISPs such as BT are less dependent on
telecommunication providers as they have their own high speed connection and
therefore are able to provide better assistance to their users.

Advantages Of Granger Caausity Test
3. Methods and data
Granger causality test (Granger 1969) has been generally used to find the
causality relationship between variables. This test told that if past values of a
variable (y) significantly contribute to forecast the future value of another variable
(x) then y is said to Granger cause x. Conversely, if past values of x statistically
improve the prediction of y, then we can conclude that x Granger causes y (ibid).
This paper also uses the tool of the Granger causality test to examine the causality
relationship between SDP and EC. This paper used (Oxley and Greasley1998), a
three stage procedure to test the direction of causality which is also used by (Ghosh,
S., 2002). The п¬Ѓrst step is to tests the order of integration of the variables ... Show

This implies that even if SDP and EC are individually non stationary but their
combined effect is stationary that is they are co integrated. Further implies that
there is long run relationship between SDP and EC in Assam. The long run
relationship among the variables merely shows the degree of association, but we
cannot say the direction of the relationship that is whether SDP causes EC or EC
causes SDP. So, we have used Granger causality tests to examine the direction of
linkage among the variables. But for a VAR system with co integrated variables the
Granger causality test must be conducted in a vector error correction model (VECM)
setting (Greene 2008). However, the absence of residual serial correlation, absence
of heteroskedasticity of the individual equations has also confirmed the correct order
of VECM selection. Table3 shows the result of Granger causality
Silent Manipulation Alex Proyas’ film I, Robot
From the moment humans are born, they are shaped by the world around them
and chances are that the media plays a huge role in shaping their identity. To the
music they listen to, to fashion trends, to their beliefs, the news outlets and
television shows could be held responsible. In 2004, the media had a much greater
influence over American citizens because of the historical context of the time.
Alex Proyas film I, Robot had taken advantage of the fact that people had become
so easily influenced by the media. Set in the year 2035, a robotics company named
US Robotics has engulfed American life to the point where every household has a
robot, and citizens have become dependent on their help. Sonny, a robot
programmed with the ability to think, feel and have dreams enables a robot fearing
detective named Del Spooner to see through the lies of the corporation. Through the
use of Sonny s character development, subtle advertisement sequences, and distinct
film choices such as the context of specific scenes, Proyas is able to portray the
suppression of thought and individuality in a futuristic society told what to think and
feel through US Robotics media propaganda. Through this, Proyas is indirectly
criticizing the 2004 audience in which was being told what to think and how to feel
through the various media outlets that would report on the political campaigns
happening at the time as well as the fear of the ongoing war with Iraq. At one point,
Sonny becomes captured by the police
Amazing Grace Kozol Chapter Summaries
Amazing Grace is an informative book published to inform the people about
conditions in one of the nations poorest congressional districts. The book is
centered on interviews among children and their family members that live in the
area of Mott Haven, located in the South Bronx. One can interpret that living
conditions in this area of the wealthiest nation in world are considered subpar to say
the very least. Is anyone listening? Is anyone paying any attention or caring that
there are people dying everyday of deaths that could be prevented? Following the
civil rights acts in the late 1960s, Kozol has been an activist for equal education
among children regardless of their racial or economic background. He has published
many books portraying the declining levels of equality throughout the nation; his
most praised being Amazing Grace. He travels to the Mott Haven division of the
South Bronx, which happens to be one of the poorest nations in the country. While in
Mott Haven, Kozol meets many people including children, parents, and ministers;
and speaks with them about their living conditions and how they see the world

The Role Of Women In SophoclesAntigone
Sophocles Antigone follows the events that occur after the legendary battle in
which brothers Eteocles and Polyneices kill each other, and Creon becomes the
king of Thebes. The driving action of the play involves Antigone s burial of her
brother Polyneices, an act that Creon decreed illegal. When watching this play, a
modern audience will not always consider the role or opinion of women in the 5th
century B.C.E., and may instead consider Antigone s defiance as justified, because
the modern audience will consider the roles and expectations of women in today s
society. Furthermore, a modern audience may see justification in Antigone s
defiance since not only was she burying her brother, but she was also fulfilling the
decree of the gods, which she deemed to be morally right. Therefore, the
differences between the roles and expectations of women will have an effect on the
way that a 5th century B.C.E. ancient Greek and a modern, western audience will
perceive Antigone s defiance of Creon. When examining the audience s
interpretation of Antigone s defiance of Creon s decree, it is first important to
understand how the two time periods modern and ancient Greek view the role of
women in society. Firstly, women in a modern, western society have agency and
autonomy over their decisions; whereas in the past women would generally be
encouraged to stay at home and become a mother, today they are encouraged to
pursue a career, go onto post secondary education, or run a business,
The Monsters On Maple Street Analysis
The Monsters on Maple Street is an episode from the TV series Twilight Zone. The
episode is about aliens from Outer Space who cut off everyone s electricity on
Maple Street. The aliens wanted to see if the humans would turn on each other

is that without someone to blame people make up people to blame. One example of
the aliens lesson is when the neighbors all start accusing each other. The text states
Charlie has to be the one. Where is the kid Let s get him. This proves the alien s
message because when they turned off their power everyone started blaming each

Drinking Underfluence
Drinking under the influence (DUI) or in other words driving while intoxicated
(DWI) is a crime of driving a transport while affected by alcohol or any other drugs,
to a level that reduces the driver s mind preventing him to function a motor vehicle
safely. Driving is an integral part of our daily routines however, the dangers that
accompany driving the transport are often ignored. From the Monash University
Accident Research Centre, a study found that 13.5% of the crashes were because of
drunk driving(Australian Mobile Telecommunication Association, 2011). There are
many factors of car crashes e.g. speeding, Driver fatigue, drunk driving, driving
while texting and etc. This report will be focusing on drunk driving and will
investigate a scenario
Charcot Marie Tooth Disease Research Paper
Orphan diseases are rare diseases that affect less than 200,00 people nationwide. Due
to the fact that they are not commonly found, they are are often overshadowed by
more prevalent diseases, such as malaria or hepatitis. Therefore, this is often not
enough government funding needed to research these diseases. Charcot Marie Tooth
Disease(CMT) is one of the most common, yet unknown, rare neurological
disorders. This disease mainly affects the nervous systems, often impairing motor
skills and causing the decaying of muscles in the arms and legs. Charcot Marie
Tooth Disease was first discovered in the early 1900s by Professor Jean Martin
Charcot and Pierre Marie of France, and Henry Howard Tooth of England (Muscular

A diagnosis usually begins with a physical examination, where the doctor might ask
the patient to perform various tasks, such as walking on their heels or testing their
knee jerk reflexes (Muscular Dystrophy Association). Furthermore, family history
of the disease is considered, and often times a genetic test is performed, which is
done by drawing blood and looking for any genetic defects related to CMT. Finally,
a nerve conduction test may be done, to test how quickly the patient s nerves detect
electrical signals (Muscular Dystrophy Association). However, diagnosis can often be
difficult given that many doctors are not familiar with CMT, and the symptoms are
very similar to those of other neurological diseases (Hereditary Neuropathy
How Is Technology Ruining Children s Lives
I would have to say that technology is ruining children s lives. The more new things
come up the more lazy we get. I would have to say that having a phone is very
distracting, but I am able to stay off of it. Not many kids have grown up to be on
electronics, but now every kid in the US has some type of device that distracts
them from going outside. Not many people tell their kids that they need to go
outside and to be active. More and more kids now a days are lazy and don t do
anything. So many kids think that they can function while on the internet, but in
reality they can t. For example, my brother thinks that he will die if he doesn t get
to play his video games. My mother only allows him to play for an hour and only if
he has his homework
William Blake s Death And Allusions
Though an esteemed painter in his day, William Blake achieves most of his fame
through his profound poetry. Born in 1757, Blake grew up in London, England
along with his five siblings ( William Blake ). Even from the beginning of his
childhood, Blake always held the strong desire to become an artist ( William Blake
). As he grew up, he apprenticed first as an engraver and then later as a painter (
William Blake ). However, even though he set out to become an artist and took little
interest in publishing his poems during his lifetime, Blake s source of fame today
comes from his exceptional poetry. In fact many English classes today, from
elementary to college, challenge their students to analyse the complexity and
depth of Blake s poems, including one of his most famous works, The Tyger .
Published in Blake s collection of poems titled Songs of Experience in 1794, The
Tyger depicts a poem that on the surface appears simple in its subject matter of a
tiger, but in reality, paints a much deeper picture of a fearful, fiery beast ( William
Blake ). In his poem The Tyger , William Blake uses poetic structure, literary devises,

While Blake does make various Biblical allusions throughout his poem, such as to
the Creation, he also references two of his own works. As the more well known
allusion, the reference to the The Lamb , a poem commonly paired with The Tyger
, appears in a question in the fifth stanza. The narrator asks whether he who made
the Lamb , the soft, mild creature, could make thee , the burning, fiery tiger (20).
Though less well known, Blake also adds a reference to one of his unfinished,
mythology books, The Four Zoas. In both The Four Zoas and The Tyger the line
the stars threw down their spears appears, a link which most people never notice
(Nurmi). These allusions to Blake s other works add a layer of depth to his already

Gender Roles Are The Way People Act
Gender in Baby Daddy TV show, Essay
Gender roles are the way people act, what they do and say, to express being a girl or
a boy, a woman or a man. These characteristics are shaped by society, (Gender Roles)
These roles constitute the standards of the society and they are transmitted from one
generation to another by education. Children learn these standards since their birth.
Parents teach them how to act, to say and to behave according to their sex. Also,
children learn the gender roles from other sources like school, neighborhood and
television. Actually, television is playing a significant role in the education of
people. From different programs presented on television, children acquire many
knowledge about how to live, to speak and to behave according to the roles
attribute to men and women. In the USA, Baby Daddy television show is one of
the program which teaches people about the gender roles. Baby Daddy show
spreads the gender roles by three different ways, first by the way the personal
characters of men and women are described, secondly, by the attitude of men and
women toward the Domestic behaviors, finally, by the way professional occupation
of men and women are presented.
Baby Daddy , is a television show which demonstrates how a boy single parent
assumes the parental responsibilities. In the season one, first, second and third
episodes, Ben discovers a baby in front of his door abandoned by his ex girlfriend.
Ben decides to keep the baby and hopes to
Jewish Americans Stand on Isreal and Palestin Conflict
Essay
The aim of this study was to explore among a sample of Jewish Americans the
prevalence of beliefs associated with intractable conflict and to test the role of
different beliefs in predicting individuals support for a compromise solution to the
Israeli Palestinian conflict. We found that the Jewish Americans we sampled tended
to agree with a sense of collective victimhood and the Jewish Israeli narrative on the
conflict. On the other hand they tended to disagree with the Palestinian narrative on
the conflict and with statements that dehumanized the Palestinians and on average
did not frame the conflict in terms of a zero sum game. Jewish Americans in our
sample tended to fall in the middle in terms of their endorsement of compromise...

It also appears that when controlling for variance explained by demographic variables
and attachment to Israel, education level emerges as a predictor for rejection of
peaceful solutions. Individuals who are more educated were more likely to refuse
concessions to the Palestinians. This finding can per haps be explained by the
influence of millions of dollars invested in engaging Jewish college students with
Israeli culture and the Israeli view of the conflict; thus spending more time informal
education leads to more refusal to compromise with the Palestinians (Beinart, 2010,
2012). The central focus of this study was the question of which belief suggested by
theorists best predicts individuals support for or rejection of peaceful solutions to
the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Our findings are in line with previous research from
Israel that suggests that dehumanization and a zero sum view on the conflict serve
an important role in predicting individuals support for the perpetuation of conflict
(Halperin et al., 2008; Halperin Bar Tal, 2011; Hammack et al., 2011; Maoz
Eidelson, 2007; Maoz McCauley, 2005, 2008). Importantly, our study contributes an
additional novel predictor to the current literature based on our operationalization of a
monolithic narrative on the conflict. The monolithic narrative variable, which is
based on the level of acceptance of the Jewish narrative on the conflict (i.e., we
intend to live in peace but we must continually defend
How Does Priestley Criticize The Selfishness Of The...
J.B. Priestley criticises the selfishness of the Birling family by using a range of
devices to convey his views of the class system and highlight to the reader the issues
with capitalism.
Priestley uses Mrs Birling to highlight how selfish the upper class are. In Act 3,
Mrs birling stresses how I told him quite plainly...I had done no more than my duty
. This shows that Mrs Birling thinks that despite how she is largely to blame for
Eva s death she is in denial of this in order to avoid a potential scandal that could
ruin her family reputation. The excessive use of personal pronouns further conveys to
the reader that Mrs Birling only cares about herself. The word duty is significant here
as it highlights one of the key themes, responsibility. ... Show more content on

In Act 3, Mr Birling is quick to accept that the story s just a load of moonshine .
This suggests that he is quick to forget everything that happened and evidently
excited by the idea that there will not be any public scandal. The word moonshine
appears to be a euphemism here, but nonetheless, is particularly effective because
it is a homemade alcoholic drink. This could reflect how the Birlings have all
taken part to make such a disaster of Eva Smith. Furthermore, moonshine was
illegal to make so could reflect the seriousness of their crimes on Eva.
Contrastingly, the word moonshine could also reflect how Mr Birling is glad that
he and his family are out of the limelight. Moreover, the fact that Mr Birling is so
quick to brush over the evening, emphasises how he feels that the Birlings are now
justified in all their actions because nobody died. This conveys to the reader how
selfish he is as he appears to feel no remorse for what he did and encourages this no
remorse behaviour from his children. Priestley may have used Mr Birling s
eagerness to pass pass off the evening for joke to act as an anti climax. This then
creates tension, because the audience is almost expectant for something next to
happen, so this cleverly builds up to the dramatic climax of the

Graphene, which is the most recent material of the carbongroup, is considered as one
of the greatest smart materials ofthe 21stcentury. Graphene and graphene based
composites show numerous potential applications owing to their distinctivetwo

Graphene and its compositesare widely used in sensors, transistors, electronics,

graphene is hydrophobic in nature and cannotbe dispersed in aqueous solutions [19],
therefore this factor limitsits application in water purification. Chemically converted
graphene, namely graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide, can be easily
synthesized[20] and have shown numerous potentialapplications in water purification

Community Observation Report
Community service is services volunteered by individuals or an organization to
benefit a community or its institutions. My favorite community service job that I
completed was located at The Junior Achievement at the Atlanta Discovery Center.
The objective of this service was to teach children how to survive and succeed in the
world economically through the use of time, talent, cooperation, and education.
Before they came to the center students were trained by their teachers to budget
money and to spend it wisely. So when they finally arrived, a real life model was
presented to them. With the compelling volunteer and student interaction, we helped
each student understand the theory to life and also understand the differences
between needs and wants. The building was set up with different mini department
stores like Chick fil A, Publix, philanthropy shop, SunTrust bank, home/apartment
agencies, automobile shop, Belk, Kaiser Permanente, and AT T. These shops were to
help the students understand manage the differences between what they really need
and what they really want. In addition, the goal was to also help build character and
skills to make it in the fast moving real world. Before the volunteer work began the
director of the center sat us in the room and trained us, with the use of a PowerPoint
on the tasks that we would be performing. First, she assigned us a store, and some
people had to share stores because some jobs involved printing. I was assigned the
Locus Of Control Thesis
Question: How is it possible that our attitudes and values can affect our economic
status? Hypothesis: Internal locus of control refers to the perception that we have
control over what happens to us and what happens to others (37). I believe that
every person, whether they were born into a rich family or had to work from the
day they could walk until the day they die, has potential to succeed. No one ever
wants to take responsibility for their failure, he/she would rather place the blame on
someone else. The individual cannot take all of the blame for their situation, most
of the blame is put on the group to which the individuals belong to, which in this
case is the poverty class (32). It is said that the group of poverty as a whole
Wwii And The Cold War
When discussing WWII and The Cold War from an American perspective, the focus
is likely to be centered on the wartime efforts of the country while debating strengths
and shortcomings within those efforts. However, while the physical and
psychological wars waged on, America s homefront saw a continuation of fighting in
the form of social movements aimed at attaining equality for all Americans.
Minorities like African Americans and Mexican immigrants continued to face
discrimination and racism during WWII but were shaped in different ways by the
war. The Cold Warera in America is a very complex subject marked by heightened
tensions, fear, and paranoia among citizens. Much in the same way that WWII shaped
the plight of minorities and immigrants on the homefront, the Cold War era also
effected what it meant to be an American by shaping the conformist social class.
Reaction to this conformity would also be shaped by the Cold War era, and
Americans would eventually become critical to these effects.
The first few decades of the 20th century marked a progressive period in America that
set the framework for many of the social movements and ideals that would continue
to shape the country throughout the rest of the century. African Americans continued
to push for equal rights through the early 20th century and post WWI. However, with
the onset of WWII, the attention of citizens and lawmakers shifted from social
movements on the homefront and instead focused largely on supporting the
What Is The Stakeholder Theory Of Nike
Introduction
A stakeholder is an individual or association who can affect or be affected by the
business s activities. They might have neither direct nor indirect interest in the firms.
Form a decent connection between stakeholders and firms is vital because
stakeholders can contact with the firm very often or just in emergency situation to get
up to date with the activities of the business. In one way or another, the reputation of
stakeholders are influenced by every activities of the business, therefore, businesses
ought to settle ethical decisions for a good image in the society.
There are many stories about how stakeholder theory has been approached lately
from 1990s till now and there is a featured story about Nike contract companies in
Vietnam. In Nike s case, the affected group of stakeholder is employees of the
company. This essay will illustrate the concept of stakeholder theory, analyse the case

A corporate stakeholder is a person or group that can affect or affected by the actions
of business (Boundless, n.d.). There are two broad groups of stakeholder, internal
stakeholders and external stakeholders. Internal stakeholders are parties who directly
involved in the activities of the firm such as owners, managers and workers. External
stakeholders are people outside of the business for example are customers, suppliers,
creditors, government and the society. (BBC, n.d.) (Boundless, n.d.). Further more,
different stakeholder has its own interest in the business, employees want their wage
to increase, manager or owners want to maximize the business s profit, the society
wants products that help to develop the community and consumers want products that
meet their demand. Through an overview, all the stakeholders have diverse impacts

The Military Decision-Making Process
The military decision making process was created and implemented to help
understand the mission, produce various courses of action, and to develop a plan to
achieve the set outcome(s).
This process is a combination of theoretical and highly detailed characteristics of
planning and incorporates actions taken by the commander, and the staff. The military
decision making process allows leaders to apply carefulness, clear and precise sound
judgment, common sense, and concrete knowledge. These characteristics are needed
to understand static and ever changing situations and to develop solutions to whatever
the problem may be. This process improves understanding of all parties involved in
the operation and guides the element throughout the preparation

Timeline of events and causes of the Challenger Space shuttle accident
In 28 January 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger was launched for the Last time and
exploded less than 2 minutes after the lift off resulting in the deaths of all seven crew
members on board (Space shuttle challenger: Wikipedia, 2006).
The failure of the solid rocket booster o rings was attributed to several factors,
including faulty design of the solid rocket boosters, insufficient low temperature
testing of the O ring material and lack of communication between different levels of
NASA management.

Once functional, the shuttle became exposed to operational demands from a
multitude of users as NASA endeavoured to live up to its promises. Coordinating the
needs of political, commercial, military, international and scientific communities
placed immense pressures on the shuttle management team (nasa: government, 2006).
Political pressure to provide a reliable reusable space vehicle with rapid turn around
time and deployment seriously hindered the ability for effective systems integration
and development. It was not feasible to construct any complete management support
systems that could integrate all of the factors associated with such a diverse group in
the operational environment.
The push of the Reagan administration to declare the shuttle operational before the
developmental stage was completed created uncertainty and low NASA employee
morale
The process of selling the concept of a re usable space transportation system to the
American public and its political system started in the late 1960 s, following the
successful Apollo mission. The space shuttle was approved as a method for
operating in space without a firm definition of what it goals would be (unlike
previous NASA programmes). Support for the project, both politically and
economically, was not very strong (nasa: government, 2006).
These factors created an environment in NASA preceding the
Operating System Structure Of A Single Large Executable...
OPERATING SYSTEM STRUCTURE The operating system can be defined as a
collection of written procedures, linked together into a single large executable
binary program. The most useful and better approach is divide the task into small
components /modules instead of having one monolithic system so that the
operating system can function properly and can be modified easily. Input, output
and functions should be clearly defined in each of the system modules as far as we
can finally come with large and complex system. Simple structure, layered
structure, microkernel, client server systems and virtual machines are among
different structures of operating system. 1 Simple Structure Well defined
structures are very important in operating systems. Scope, functionality and well
designed modules are main factor to consider to make sure the system will satisfy
user needs and provides a good service to users.MS DOS is a good example of
Simple structure because of its history which starts with small, simple and limited
system that did not consider about the number of users and possibility of become
popular operating system that can be able to accommodate as many users as
possible.MS DOS do not consider the matter of separation between the interfaces
and levels of functionality. As Silberschatz (2013), stated that an application
programs are able to access the basic I/O routines to write directly to the display and
disk drives. Such freedom leaves MS DOS vulnerable to errant (or malicious)

There are critics of the concept of human security which claim that if all the
components of well being are included, the term will become essentially meaningless,
as it permits the inclusion of practically everything that affects any larger groups of
individuals adversely.1
2.3.RELATION OF TRADITIONAL SECURITY AND HUMAN SECURITY
Human security is a very broad concept of security and has been developed in order to
challenge traditional security studies, after people realized that nowadays poverty,
diseases, and natural disaster are a much bigger threat to the security of people than
war. However even though human security has emerged as a challenge of ideas,
human and traditional/national security are not mutually exclusive concepts. Many
people have argued that it is not possible to attain human security without traditional
security and the other way around.

  • 2. Claudia Rankine Analysis This past Friday, I attended Claudia Rankine s reading at Fordham University Lincoln Center. Going into the reading I had no real idea of what was going to be discussed nor the true significance of her work, all I knew is that she is an important and worldly renowned poet. In the reading, she read excerpts from her book named Citizen An American Lyric. Which focuses on micro aggressions towards people of color. These events are examples of everyday racismthat can be experienced by people of color in the US. Though I have read some of her work in the past, attending this reading and actually hearing the author express her work through her own emotions really took things to another level. It showed me a whole knew understanding of what I

  • 4. Conversion Disorder Conversion disorder is a medical condition where its sufferers present neurological symptoms such as paralysis, numbness, blindness or fits without a known neurological trigger. Conversion disorder, formerly known as hysteria is considered a psychiatric disorder by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, which classifies it as a somatoform disorder. Contrary, World Health Organization s International Classification of Diseases (ICD 10) classifies it as a dissociative disorder. The diagnosis of this neurological disorder has been problematic in the past, since doctors have conceptually and practically differentiated its symptoms from those of neurological diseases for which it is known to be. Most psychologists have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The diagnosis of conversion disorder involves three elements all of which present some degree of controversy. These three elements are: the exclusion of neurological disease, feigning and finally the determination of a psychological mechanism. During the first stage, conversion disorder may resemble neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis, stroke or epilepsy therefore they must be carefully excluded through appropriate examinations. In rare cases, patients with neurological disease may also have conversion disorder, which further complicates the determination of the degree of the conversion disorder in the patient. Exclusion of conscious simulation is only possible where a patient confesses or is caught out in a broader deception. Lastly, establishment of a psychological mechanism is the most difficult aspect of conversion disorder diagnosis. DSM IV recommends that clinicians assume preceding stressors to be associated with the progress of the disorder which is still a subject of debate. Notably, cultural influences have been noted to affect the somatoform disorders. Cultures such as the Puerto Rican and the Greek are known to report higher rates of somatization disorders among the men than is the case in the United States. In addition, cases of somatization disorders are less common among persons with higher levels of education compared to the less educated. According to Robert (2002), rates are higher outside of the west, which can be attributed to
  • 5. Raspberry Ketone Part I Essay For ages we all have craved the body of an Adonis/ Aphrodite`s, some say that this are just genes passed on, some say that you can only get it with intense training at least 4 times a week. But the 21 century, the century of speed, no one has time to lose countless hours in the gym so we started looking for some help. We tried different chemicals but in the end we realized that the answer was still in Mother Nature. And so Raspberry Ketone was discovered. A raspberry ketone is generally described as the aromatic element of a raspberry that one first recognizes when in close proximity of a raspberry. While this ketone clearly affects the scent associated with a raspberry, this is not the only thing that can be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1965, the US Food and Drug Administration placed raspberry ketone on generally recognized as safe status for the small quantities used as a food additive, but they still don`t know the full side effects for prolonged exposure. Facts still are inclined to the fact that the Ketones do more good than bad, until otherwise proven, as such the market for this product is simply hot and their products are flying off the shelves. With over 20 companies now producing different strains and blends of the compound, it is one of the best sold products on the market today (2.4 .bil a year). It is widely sold on over ~300 websites and it is present on every sales market such as eBay, Amazon etc, TV coverage is still not short. Dr. Oz featured Raspberry Ketones in his February, 2012 episode entitled The #1 Miracle in a Bottle to Burn Your Fat and invited weight loss expert Lisa Lynn on the popular show to discuss how her clients lost weight successfully while taking Raspberry Ketones. Dr. Oz called Raspberry Ketones worth experimenting with while stressing that this is not a magic remedy; dieters still need to eat healthy foods and be active. Raspberry Ketones could, the Doctor said, help get you over the hump, so people should use it for that purpose, not as a miracle pill. His guests show pictures before and after, and then Dr. Oz held a speech explaining how this works.
  • 6. Case Study Gillette Strategic Management Case study discussion Gillette loses face This is a deceptively simple looking case. The lazy student will simply adopt the critical line on the company s strategy being fed to him or her by Jeremy Kahn, the author of the article. In fact, things are by no means so clear cut, students need to do some careful analysis, particularly in the area of Gillette s corporate level strategy, before this becomes plain. They have to be prepared to think hard about the success factors in the different businesses if they simply pick out the points proffered by the case study, then they will not derive the full benefit from the case. 1. What were the most important strategic issues confronting Gillette in November 1999? If we go through the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most interesting analysis in this case takes place at corporate level. The case talks about the Gillette way : the use of superior technology and good communications skills. However, it is worthwhile asking students what else Gillette s three superstar businesses have in common. Gillette razors, Oral B toothbrushes and Duracell batteries are all consumer businesses where the emphasis is on mass production and mass marketing of a low tech but innovation hungry products sold at low unit prices through supermarkets, drugstores and other mass market retail outlets, such as filling stations. Gillette s parenting skills appear to apply in such industries. One can then ask how well the other businesses fit the pattern. It seems fairly clear that toiletries do not. The pens business is, however, less clear cut it can be argued that Papermate s downmarket pens fit the bill, but Parker s and Waterman s more up market products do not (though the Parker brand appears to be less exclusive than once it was). The Braun range is even more problematic is it really as obvious as the article makes it seem that Gillette, which has made a success of electric toothbrushes cannot do the same with electric shavers and kettles? Tefal has made a point of introducing small,

Urbanization is the process by which cities form and expand. As trade expanded, a city s popularity could grow and more merchants would want to travel there to receive more business and customers. Paris was located at the cross of major trade routes and merchants who set up there could make more profit as more people would pass through Paris compared to other cities. This led to more merchants wanting to set up in Paris and Paris grew to be a large, influential city. The rise in Paris s economy from the merchants and customers transactions led to Paris s wealth, and its expansion and urbanization. • 14. Understanding The Intricacies Of Ministry A Practical Approach to Understanding the Intricacies of Ministry For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them. Aristotle, The Nicomachean Ethics Like any other profession, the call to ministry requires intense preparation. In fact, the process of personal and professional development of clerical leaders demands the necessary interplay between theory and praxis. Certainly, while courses in exegesis, ethics, systematic theology and critical interpretation among others are designed to expand the theoretical, supervised ministry transports the budding theologian directly into the practical realm of ministry through practice . Over the course of the semester I have gleaned valuable insights through baptism by emersion into the often unseen realities that shape ministry within the context of local congregations. Often the external structures visible to members of the laity do not accurately reveal the internal elements of planning, organizing, and coordination required for effective ministry. Certainly, my experience has reaffirmed the notion that ministry can be demanding. In other words, I have come to the conclusion that the call to ministry is a call to challenging, yet meaningful work. At the very onset of the supervised ministry process, I relished the opportunity to increase my understanding of the life, and work, of the 21st century minister, I had a myriad of questions concerning issues such as the daily demands on the minister s
  • 15. Nt1310 Unit 2 Case Study Betas Looking at the betas (Exhibit1) we can clearly define two different segments in the sample. Segment1 is a steady segment, the customers in this group are not much affected by both actions and external factors, and moreover, they have a positive base. Therefore, they are probably willing to continue their relationship even without any solicitations from the company. On the other side, we find Segment2. The customers in this segment are much more unstable as both the action and the external betas are higher values than in Segment1. Also, this segment shows a negative base, that, combined with the strong negative external beta coefficient, means the company has to activate some kind of solicitations in order to maintain the customer, otherwise she is going to be predictably lost. Though, the most significant indicator is the third, the Hit Ratio. The value itself is not that bad, it is over sixty percent, but the big concern is that the Hit Ratio of the model is exactly the same as the proportion of retention in the model. Hence, we would reach the same accuracy in the result just assuming that all the members of our sample are going to be retained. It could be due to the combined effects of having a high percentage (q1) of customers in segment1 which is, as we saw in the betas analysis, the group that naturally tend to be retained. Anyway, all the three indicators clearly show the ineffectiveness of our
  • 16. Hedgehog Pathway Essay The hedgehog (Hh) signalling pathway is important in ensuring normal and correct development of an organism during embryogenesis (Motoyama et al., 2003), and many important aspects of this pathway are conserved in animals as distinct as the fly and the human (McMahon and Ingham, 2001; Varjosalo and Taipale, 2008), accentuating further the importance of the pathway. Volhard and Wieschaus discovered the hedgehog genein the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster in the late 1980s, in their search for mutations that would disturb the body plan of fly larvae. They were able to find genes involved in the segmental pattern of the larva that, when mutated, would alter this segmentation (Nusslein Volhard and Wieschaus, 1980). Depending on the situation, the hedgehog signalling can result in different outcomes, for example it could act as a morphogen, a long range signalling molecule that acts in a dose specific way to induce and establish cell fate within a cell population, or it could act as a mitogen to stimulate cell proliferation, regulating organ development (Ingham and McMahon, 2001; Jiang and Hui, 2008). Human embryos in which hedgehog signalling is defect, acquire brain, face and other abnormalities, demonstrating the vital importance of the pathway during development (Briscoe and ThГ©rond, 2013), while over activation of the hedgehog pathway in adults is known to lead to different types of cancer (Gupta, Takebe, and LoRusso, 2010; Jiang and Hui, 2008). • 25. Don Quixote By The Spanish Author Cervantes Essay Don Quixote, a novel by the Spanish author Cervantes, is widely considered the first modern novel because of the depth of character development within the story (Q A, p. 3). One such well developed character is Sancho Panza, a lowly peasant who follows Don Quixote throughout the story and is witness to his many adventures. The reason for Sancho s dedication to Don Quixote is multi faceted and stems from his greed for personal riches and fame, his curiosity about Don Quixote s madness, and his eventual true loyalty to his master. Sancho s ability to change his tune depending on the situation makes him one of the more complex and interesting characters in the novel. Many of the qualities that he possesses contradict one another; for example, he can be a greedy opportunist, but at the same time, he serves his master well on many occasions. Another example of Sancho s complexity is seen when Don Quixote often comments upon Pancho s uneducated simplemindedness; however, several times in the story Sancho displays a surprising amount of practical wisdom. Also, at times throughout the novel, Sancho berates Don Quixote for his delusional fantasies, but at other times, Sancho allows himself to be caught up in Don Quixote s madness. As is the case for most real life people, Sancho Panza is full of contradictions and flaws, but these faults help to make him one of the most realistic characters in the novel. From Sancho s first appearance in the novel (First Part, Chapter VII), as

  • 27. Disadvantages Of Federalism Federalism is a type of government where the power is divided between local governments and federal governments. The U.S., India, Australia, Russia and Brazil are some examples of federalist countries. While this type of practice has its upsides, it has downsides as well as alternatives. One alternative to a federal system would be a unitary system. While a federal government(such as the one in the U.S.) divides power between national governments and local governments, a unitary government does not and all the power is in the national government ex if the U.S. used a unitary government, marijuana would either be legal or illegal in the whole country compared to in the current federal government where various states have marijuana legalized such as; Washington, California, Colorado, and others haven t legalized this drug; Texas, Idaho, Utah. A common misconception about a unitary government is that it is a dictatorship, which is not the case at all, they can still be democracies like France, question is would the people be more comfortable with all the power in the central government or a division of that power to local or state governments. The balance of power between the federal and state government has had some changes over time, with laws being put in place to ensure each has a fair area to control. Kids should not have to experience stress because of the pressure parents may put on them, nor should they need to believe that a loss is unacceptable. There s just no reason why sports should have any negative aspects at all. Especially when there are so many positive things that sports can do for a child if introduced and carried out in the right way, specifically at a young age. Over time, these youngsters may be permanently emotionally exhausted causing some to turn to steroids in hope to gain an edge or perhaps give up on sports, and exercise, altogether. Intense training, of coaches from club or travel teams, becomes an enticement to win the next season which may carry on to the off season to train and become better than the best. But where s the fun in that? When will kids have the time to try out other sports? An increase in the number of reported instances of parents engaging in abusive, violent, and controlling behavior toward coaches,

Gender Stereotypes in Little Red Cap and The Grandmother The folk tale of Little Red Riding Hood has numerous variations and interpretations depending on what recorded version is being read or analyzed. Little Red Cap, by the Grimm Brothers, and The Grandmother, as collected by Achille Millien, are different in numerous ways: the depth of the narrative structure, characters involved, length yet, the moral lesson is largely unchanged between the two versions. One of the more glaring differences between the two versions is the way that the narrator and the actions of the characters are used to describe the young girl, female, and the wolf, male. Being either female or male are matters of biological makeup. The characteristics of femininity and masculinity that are associated with being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The majority of the story is reiterated through dialogue that allows the girl s words, but also her actions, to speak of her sweetness, or lack thereof, rather than an arbiter such as the narrator. The reader must decide whether or not the actions of the young girl are of merit. For example, the story begins, There was a woman who had made some bread. She said to her daughter, Go and carry a hot loaf and a bottle of milk to your grandmother. So the little girl set forth (Millien). It is safe for the reader to assume that the young girl is obedient because that is all the reader has seen of the young girl, she has not taken any other action and there is not a narrator who prescribes any other attribute. The lack of a narrator preemptively assigning causal relation between the young girl s action and her reception in the community allows the act of obedience to represent a virtuous quality, rather than a virtuous quality that is inherently feminine, as the Grimm brother version does with the quality of being sweet. After defining the young girl as sweet in the Grimm version the mother gives the girl instructions to take cake and wine to the ailing grandmother. The instructions given by the mother are, Mind your manners and give her my greetings. Behave yourself on the way, and do not leave the path, or your might fall down and break the glass [. . .] (Grimm). The instructions given by the mother indicate

This theoretical example was actually tested to see the effects of simulating gravity for humans through use of a spinning centrifuge on Earth. The experiment s design was to determine whether or not the subjects would develop an symptoms of AMS or acute motion sickness. (Antonutto, 1992) The researchers discovered that none of the subjects developed any symptoms as a result of the substitution of centripetal forcefor gravitational force.(Antonutto, 1992) This gives a lot of hope for that method of combatting muscular atrophy, spinal disk elongation, and the other previously mentioned effects, but this seems very resource intensive to implement on all future designs, there is also very low practicality in this design. Every portion of the ship would need to be build orientated along the interior curve of the ship. This would be very disorientating for taking off and landing with proper orientation to the ground. There is another method of ensuring an astronaut s simulation of gravity to prevent the reversible side effects of weightlessness. Instead of making the entire vessel emulate gravity through centripetal force, there is available technology that can create a force to act on the individual. It is an exercise method and accompanying apparatus that claims to reduce muscular atrophy and loss of bone density more

This test told that if past values of a variable (y) significantly contribute to forecast the future value of another variable (x) then y is said to Granger cause x. Conversely, if past values of x statistically improve the prediction of y, then we can conclude that x Granger causes y (ibid). This paper also uses the tool of the Granger causality test to examine the causality relationship between SDP and EC. This paper used (Oxley and Greasley1998), a three stage procedure to test the direction of causality which is also used by (Ghosh, S., 2002). This implies that even if SDP and EC are individually non stationary but their combined effect is stationary that is they are co integrated. Further implies that there is long run relationship between SDP and EC in Assam. The long run relationship among the variables merely shows the degree of association, but we cannot say the direction of the relationship that is whether SDP causes EC or EC causes SDP. So, we have used Granger causality tests to examine the direction of linkage among the variables. But for a VAR system with co integrated variables the Granger causality test must be conducted in a vector error correction model (VECM) setting (Greene 2008). However, the absence of residual serial correlation, absence of heteroskedasticity of the individual equations has also confirmed the correct order of VECM selection. The Role Of Women In SophoclesAntigone Sophocles Antigone follows the events that occur after the legendary battle in which brothers Eteocles and Polyneices kill each other, and Creon becomes the king of Thebes. The driving action of the play involves Antigone s burial of her brother Polyneices, an act that Creon decreed illegal. When watching this play, a modern audience will not always consider the role or opinion of women in the 5th century B.C.E., and may instead consider Antigone s defiance as justified, because the modern audience will consider the roles and expectations of women in today s society. Furthermore, a modern audience may see justification in Antigone s defiance since not only was she burying her brother, but she was also fulfilling the decree of the gods, which she deemed to be morally right. Therefore, the differences between the roles and expectations of women will have an effect on the way that a 5th century B.C.E. ancient Greek and a modern, western audience will perceive Antigone s defiance of Creon. When examining the audience s interpretation of Antigone s defiance of Creon s decree, it is first important to understand how the two time periods modern and ancient Greek view the role of women in society. Firstly, women in a modern, western society have agency and autonomy over their decisions; whereas in the past women would generally be encouraged to stay at home and become a mother, today they are encouraged to pursue a career, go onto post secondary education, or run a business,

It also appears that when controlling for variance explained by demographic variables and attachment to Israel, education level emerges as a predictor for rejection of peaceful solutions. Individuals who are more educated were more likely to refuse concessions to the Palestinians. This finding can per haps be explained by the influence of millions of dollars invested in engaging Jewish college students with Israeli culture and the Israeli view of the conflict; thus spending more time informal education leads to more refusal to compromise with the Palestinians (Beinart, 2010, 2012). The central focus of this study was the question of which belief suggested by theorists best predicts individuals support for or rejection of peaceful solutions to the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Our findings are in line with previous research from Israel that suggests that dehumanization and a zero sum view on the conflict serve an important role in predicting individuals support for the perpetuation of conflict (Halperin et al., 2008; Halperin Bar Tal, 2011; Hammack et al., 2011; Maoz Eidelson, 2007; Maoz McCauley, 2005, 2008). This could reflect how the Birlings have all taken part to make such a disaster of Eva Smith. Furthermore, moonshine was illegal to make so could reflect the seriousness of their crimes on Eva. Contrastingly, the word moonshine could also reflect how Mr Birling is glad that he and his family are out of the limelight. However, while the physical and psychological wars waged on, America s homefront saw a continuation of fighting in the form of social movements aimed at attaining equality for all Americans. Minorities like African Americans and Mexican immigrants continued to face discrimination and racism during WWII but were shaped in different ways by the war. The Cold Warera in America is a very complex subject marked by heightened tensions, fear, and paranoia among citizens. Much in the same way that WWII shaped the plight of minorities and immigrants on the homefront, the Cold War era also effected what it meant to be an American by shaping the conformist social class. Reaction to this conformity would also be shaped by the Cold War era, and Americans would eventually become critical to these effects. The first few decades of the 20th century marked a progressive period in America that set the framework for many of the social movements and ideals that would continue to shape the country throughout the rest of the century. African Americans continued to push for equal rights through the early 20th century and post WWI. However, with the onset of WWII, the attention of citizens and lawmakers shifted from social movements on the homefront and instead focused largely on supporting the

The Military Decision-Making Process The military decision making process was created and implemented to help understand the mission, produce various courses of action, and to develop a plan to achieve the set outcome(s). This process is a combination of theoretical and highly detailed characteristics of planning and incorporates actions taken by the commander, and the staff. The military decision making process allows leaders to apply carefulness, clear and precise sound judgment, common sense, and concrete knowledge. These characteristics are needed to understand static and ever changing situations and to develop solutions to whatever the problem may be. This process improves understanding of all parties involved in the operation and guides the element throughout the preparation

Timeline of events and causes of the Challenger Space shuttle accident In 28 January 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger was launched for the Last time and exploded less than 2 minutes after the lift off resulting in the deaths of all seven crew members on board (Space shuttle challenger: Wikipedia, 2006). The failure of the solid rocket booster o rings was attributed to several factors, including faulty design of the solid rocket boosters, insufficient low temperature testing of the O ring material and lack of communication between different levels of NASA management. A timeline of the events leading up to the explosion of the Challenger Space shuttle: (Times in EST) January 22 [3:43 p.m.]Lift off was initially scheduled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once functional, the shuttle became exposed to operational demands from a multitude of users as NASA endeavoured to live up to its promises. Coordinating the needs of political, commercial, military, international and scientific communities placed immense pressures on the shuttle management team (nasa: government, 2006). Political pressure to provide a reliable reusable space vehicle with rapid turn around time and deployment seriously hindered the ability for effective systems integration and development. It was not feasible to construct any complete management support systems that could integrate all of the factors associated with such a diverse group in the operational environment. The push of the Reagan administration to declare the shuttle operational before the developmental stage was completed created uncertainty and low NASA employee morale The process of selling the concept of a re usable space transportation system to the American public and its political system started in the late 1960 s, following the successful Apollo mission. The space shuttle was approved as a method for operating in space without a firm definition of what it goals would be (unlike previous NASA programmes). Support for the project, both politically and economically, was not very strong (nasa: government, 2006). These factors created an environment in NASA preceding the
  • 59. Operating System Structure Of A Single Large Executable... OPERATING SYSTEM STRUCTURE The operating system can be defined as a collection of written procedures, linked together into a single large executable binary program. The most useful and better approach is divide the task into small components /modules instead of having one monolithic system so that the operating system can function properly and can be modified easily. Input, output and functions should be clearly defined in each of the system modules as far as we can finally come with large and complex system. Simple structure, layered structure, microkernel, client server systems and virtual machines are among different structures of operating system. 1 Simple Structure Well defined structures are very important in operating systems. Scope, functionality and well designed modules are main factor to consider to make sure the system will satisfy user needs and provides a good service to users.MS DOS is a good example of Simple structure because of its history which starts with small, simple and limited system that did not consider about the number of users and possibility of become popular operating system that can be able to accommodate as many users as possible.MS DOS do not consider the matter of separation between the interfaces and levels of functionality. As Silberschatz (2013), stated that an application programs are able to access the basic I/O routines to write directly to the display and disk drives. Such freedom leaves MS DOS vulnerable to errant (or malicious)

There are critics of the concept of human security which claim that if all the components of well being are included, the term will become essentially meaningless, as it permits the inclusion of practically everything that affects any larger groups of individuals adversely.1 2.3.RELATION OF TRADITIONAL SECURITY AND HUMAN SECURITY Human security is a very broad concept of security and has been developed in order to challenge traditional security studies, after people realized that nowadays poverty, diseases, and natural disaster are a much bigger threat to the security of people than war. However even though human security has emerged as a challenge of ideas, human and traditional/national security are not mutually exclusive concepts. Many people have argued that it is not possible to attain human security without traditional security and the other way around. 1 Security Studies Today Terry Terriff, Stuart Croft, Lucy James, Patrick Morgan 1999 RANGSIT UNIVERSITY
