Intro For Essay
Crafting an introduction for an essay might seem deceptively simple at first glance, but the task
is fraught with challenges that can make the process quite daunting. The endeavor demands a
delicate balance of creativity, precision, and engagement, as the introduction serves as the
gateway to the entire essay. Striking the right tone, capturing the reader's attention, and
succinctly outlining the scope of the essay are all intricate maneuvers that require a keen
understanding of both the subject matter and the art of effective communication.
One must navigate through the intricate dance of establishing context, introducing key concepts,
and laying the groundwork for the essay's argument or exploration. The pressure to make a
memorable first impression can be overwhelming, and the risk of falling into clichГ©s or generic
openings looms large. The constant battle to avoid verbosity while ensuring that the introduction
is comprehensive enough can add an additional layer of complexity.
Moreover, the task is not only about clarity but also about intrigue – the introduction must
compel the reader to continue, fostering a sense of anticipation and curiosity about the unfolding
discourse. This nuanced dance between information and allure demands not only linguistic
prowess but also a deep understanding of the audience and the overarching purpose of the essay.
In conclusion, writing an introduction for an essay is a subtle yet formidable challenge,
demanding a blend of literary finesse, analytical acumen, and an intuitive grasp of reader
psychology. It's an art that requires time, effort, and skill to master, but the rewards lie in the
ability to captivate and guide the reader into the heart of the essay's narrative or argument. For
those who find themselves grappling with the intricacies of this task, assistance is available.

Five Dimensions Of Verizon Case Study
Verizon Is a cable company used by thousands. Most of the places I have lived in
my life have used either Verizon or Xfinity for their cable service provider. I will
never use Verizon for the rest of my life because of the service I received. I started
my contract in September 2016 and it lasted until May 2016. I was getting my
own apartment in Glassboro in which I needed cable and internet. This was my
first time really setting up the payment for cable and internet. I have never used a
cable service prior. The first impression of the company was over the phone and the
last impression of Verizon ended with me paying $130.00 cancellation fee. The

television service was not much greater. The cable service did not always work
which was stressful for me particularly being a college student. I would constantly
call to Verizon to fix the problems. I fixed the issues most of the time, but it was a
great inconvenience to my day. Responsiveness is the willingness to provide prompt
service and have a willingness to help customers. Verizon s service was not prompt.
Verizon would keep me on the phone for a minimum of 45 minutes, most of my time
just waiting. The automated machines that would assist customers do not help if your
problem is not listed. You will wait on the phone for minutes at a time answering

(MI) is a treatment strategy created to encourage a person to move from
ambivalence to change talk defined as any self expressed language that is an
argument for change (Miller Rollnick, 2012, p. 159). The Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th ed.; DSM 5;) categorizes Substance
Use Disorder as an umbrella diagnosis identifying individuals with a substance
abuse or dependence disorder that designates the social, physical and emotional
consequences of substance abuse. Although there are six use disorders listed
under the Substance Use Disorder category; this paper focuses strictly on Alcohol
Use Disorder (AUD). The purpose of this paper is to examine how MI is an
effective therapeutic intervention for people who have AUD and how change talk
helps patients move past ambivalence. Overview According to the DSM 5, a
diagnosis of substance use disorder is based on evidence of impaired control, social
impairment, risky use and pharmacological criteria (samhsa.gov, 2015). The
National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) reports that 52.7% of Americans
age 12 years and older reported being current drinkers (2015). It is estimated that 17
million Americans have an AUD based on the criteria of the DSM 5. The Substance
Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) defines drinking in
three levels: moderate drinking, binge drinking, and heavy drinking. Moderate

California Floristic Province Essay
The California Floristic Province. The California Floristic Province, is the only hot
spot that occurs largely in the United States; it is home to exceptionally high plant
diversity and varieties of habitat. Stretching along the west coast starting in
southwestern Oregon, it covers 70% of the State of California, and into
northwestern Baja California, Mexico. Why is California Floristic Province a
hotspot? According to the BBC, of nearly 2,000 of the plant species found in the
province, are found nowhere else in the world, in addition, the hotspot is also home
to two spectacular endemic tree species, the giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron

In addition, The Sierra Club, Wilderness Society, Nature Conservancy, Conservation

besides educating the public and lobbying the politicians, is to take legal actions
against individual decision makers who cause distraction of the environment through
their legislature. In other words, if a XYZ Corp. purchases a land for development,
which is a recognized habitat to endangered species, it might be more effective to
target the individuals within the company, rather than the company itself. On top of
that, a negative publicity campaign, employing the social media, might be effective

Have you ever heard of the witching hour? The period between 3 am and 4 am is
often referred to as the witching or devil hour, since that is when paranormal forces
are at their strongest. Some high school students choose to leave their home and
hang out in the streets during this time. Whether you believe in paranormal forces or
not, it is not safe for minors to be outside after midnight. Kids often view curfews as
an unnecessary rule, but there are many benefits to having one. They have often been
implemented by parents, but there is none that is country wide. There should be a

Peter Grandon s Third Wife And Winter Dreams
Life will be more fantastic if we are holding dreams in our minds. However, the
dream should rather be a target. The gap, which between the dream and realistic,
will lead us to push ourselves to reach it. However, if the gap is too large, it is not
a target anymore. Instead of a target, it is a fake world, or a lie, where we would
like ourselves to live, and we will indulge ourselves in the lie. This kind of
exchange thinking of the gap between reality and ideal is called Faustian Bargain,

Persuasive Essay On Drone Warfare
Is one death acceptable for the survivability of hundreds around the world while in
the comfort of your own home? Debatable yes, but is it absolutely necessary? In
essence, the sacrificial death of one person in hopes of saving an entire population
would be the just action even if it means hurting the ones affiliated with the death
of a loved one, so yes, it is necessary. On April 1st, there was an event where
Colonel Powell, a British U.K. officer, had primarily launched an event to capture
number 2, 3, and 5 terrorists on the American list of most wanted terrorists in
Africa. However, these two of these terrorists were once local citizens, one from the
United States and the other belonging to the United Kingdom. Due to the gradual
change of events, Colonel Powell was presented with the only option of killing the
targets with a hellfire missile launched from a drone. Due to some severe
circumstances, a girl named Alia was unfortunately caught in the blast that was
enhanced by the terrorists armed suicide vests. Many tend to argue that the
unfortunate death of Alia was considered an act of injustice, no less firing the
missile from a far away distance, specifically Nevada, and from a drone. This
unfortunate event is an example of how morals are questioned and how Drone
Warfare could be perceived as an invasion of privacy and as an inaccurate and
inhumane method of eliminating targets. I ask you this, would you yourselves want

DumasNumber of Pages: 634Summary and Arrangement of the book: The general
arrangement of the book is that it is broken up into short, event oriented chapters.
Each chapter focuses specifically on the details f a single event with little deviance
in terms of the story line. The chapters build upon each other in a way that creates a
well rounded understanding of the protagonist Edmond DantГ©s life. The fist four
chapters focus on DantГ©s accomplishments and his success. Dumas highlights all
that is positive in DantГ©s life such as him becoming captain of the Pharaon at
such a young age and that he is finally able to marry the love of his life, Mercedes.
The fourth chapter is the turning point in which DantГ©s life turns from joy to
suffering. Chapters five and six are where DantГ©s fate is decided. He is captured
on suspicion of being a Bonapartist, however, upon examination, the officer Villefort
decides that DantГ©s is innocent and is prepared to grant him his freedom and
release him from all charges until DantГ©s let slip the name of whom he was
unintentionally meant to deliver a Bonapartist letter to. Villefort recognizes the name
and address to be that of his own father. In protecting his reputation, Villefort burns
the letter and has DantГ©s imprisoned in the ChГўteau D If. Chapter seven only
finalizes the decision of Villefort to imprison the innocent man to save
The Success Of Registered Nurses
Hard work, knowledge, and interpersonal skills are some of the most important
aspects that will directly impact the success of registered nurses (RNs) within the
medical healthcare field. They are professionals that require an amount of
comprehensive education and skills that are related to assessing, planning, and
intervening to promote patient care ( The Nursing Process, n.d.). In order to become
RNs, associate degrees in nursing (ADN) must be earned from a state approved
training program. The programs may take up to two years to complete through
community colleges, hospital based programs, and/or career centers. As RNs are
taking up more responsibility in the delivery and management of patient care, they
must have a solid academic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, a nurse s assessment of a diabetes patient includes the patient s chief
complaints of hypoglycemia symptoms and laboratory results of low blood glucose
levels. However, the assessment also includes the ability to acknowledge and
understand the patient s response due to the current state, such as the slurring of
speech, clumsy movement as if intoxicated, or profuse sweating while in an air
conditioned facility. The RN s diagnosis would reflect what the patient s
hypoglycemic state has further caused. Such symptoms may include confusion,
drowsiness, and coma like state, or if left untreated, it can result in seizures, loss of
consciousness, and even death. Thus, they will be able to set measurable and
achievable short and long term goals for their patient ( The Nursing Process, n.d.).
Goals for this diabetic patient may include changing eating habits by eating a higher
carbohydrate diet and/or eating more frequently, possibly adjusting to lower
medication dosages, managing lifestyle changes to include a more appropriate
exercise regimen, and continuing to test blood glucose levels on a regular basis. RNs
must possess other necessary qualities and skills that include patience, flexibility,
high levels of honesty, emotional stability, compassion, good organizational skills,
and interpersonal skills (Davila, n.d.).
The Unification Of Germany And Italy
The unification of Germany and Italy was centered around the belief of nationalism.
Nationalism is the belief that one s greatest loyalty should not be to a king or an
empire but to a nation of people who share a common culture and history. The nation
will then become a nation state when it has its independent government. Bonds that
will create a nation state are nationality, language, culture, and religion. Germanyand
Italyboth went to drastic measures to unify their countries In 1815, Italy as divides
after the Congress of Vienna. Some provinces were still under Austrian rule such as
Venetia and Lombardy. The Spanish Bourbon family ruled the Kingdom of the Two
Sicilies while the Pope controlled the Papal States. Seeing the separation of states,
Mazzini, Garibaldi, and Cavour made advancements towards unifying the country.
Mazzini formed a nationalist group called Young Italy. He called for an end to
foreign rule and the unification of Italy based on the common language and culture
of the people. This movement was called the risorgimento. This plan failed and the
former rules of Italian states drove Mazzini and other nationalist leaders into exile.
Next came Garibaldi who was the leader of the Red Shirts. They were volunteers
who followed Garibaldi in Southern Italy. This nationalist group was successful in
gaining control of Sicily in 1860. He then crossed into the mainland and marched
north. After Garibaldi took complete control of Southern Italy, the people voted to
Wood Thrush Populations
The paper explicitly outlined the four key questions, asking (1) Is there evidence
that asymmetrical dispersal and therefore source sink dynamics occur consistently
over time between pairs of Wood Thrush populations? And if so (2), over what
distance(s) does this occur? (3) Do identified sources occur in areas with more
habitat than their dependent sinks? And (4), are source sink dynamics clustered in
any particular part of the species range? (Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 2)
Identifying key words, in this case posit , helps identify the hypothesis quickly.
We posit that, when dispersal occurs from a source to a sink year after year, there
will be a one year time lagged correlation in abundance between the two populations
(Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 1).
The authors often restate their hypothesis multiple times to clarify to readers the
intent of their research. In other words, a decline in abundance in the source
population in one year will result in a decline in the sink population in the following
year, as a smaller source population produces fewer young to ... Show more content

Individuality In Lord Of The Flies Persuasive Essay
Humans have a tendency to join along with whatever the biggest group of people

among all of the boys. Every single boy that joins Jack s tribe abandoned being
civilized to be in the larger group, Ralph and Piggy abandoned their individuality to
have fun with the larger group of boys for a while, and Piggy again lost some
individuality of his own due to him being different. Every boy on the island has

The Tipages And Advantages Of Calcium Silicate Bricks
Calcium silicate bricks are also called sand lime. They are often confused with
concrete bricks but these are much harder and would not scrape quite so easily.
Calcium silicate bricks are manufactured by mixing lime, sand or crushed
silicaceous together, with enough water to allow the mixture completely hydrated
to be moulded under high pressure. The bricks are then moved in and steam in
autoclaved for three to fourteen hours to speed the chemical hardening. Pigments
can be added during the mixing stage. In their natural state, calcium silicate bricks
are white to a creamy off white colour, but the addition of ochres (buff or cream
colours), iron oxides (pink, red, brown or black) or chrome oxide (green) can enable
a very wide variety of colours to be produced. It easily to cut thus increase its

Fifty Shades Darker Analysis
Dakota Johnson of Fifty Shades Darker is believed to be angry with her stepfather
Antonio Banderas. Johnson supposedly blames former stepfather Antonio for her

According to the reports, Dakota was much annoyed with Antonio from the very

who is so much younger than Griffith. The 22 years younger woman Nicole Kempel

old Spanish born Desperado actor Antonio Banderas. According to reports, Dakota
thinks of Banderas as a selfish man who is trying to recapture his youth. Johnson

and the focus on the psychology of characters, not action. The style of Antonioni that
is seen in Zabriskie Point include the focus of objects instead of people and long

silence in Zabriskie Point.
In Zabriskie Point the main focus of the film is on Daria who eventually meets
Mark. Mark is active in campus protests. While participating in a campus protests
the police tear gas some of the protestors to break up the protest. Mark almost
shoots a police officer, but someone else shoots the officer first. Mark escapes
before the police could arrest him. After fleeing the protest Mark takes a bus to a
town with a small airport, steals a plane, and flies out to the desert. While Mark is

McTeague or Animalism Essay
McTeague, or Animalism Unpublished
The last decade of the twentieth century in America saw a rise in programs for
human s self betterment. A popular form of betterment is that of the inner animal.
Interest in Native American animal mysticism, vision quests, and totem animals have
increased dramatically in the past few years. No forms of media have been spared;
Calvin Klein s supermodels come on during sitcom commercials to tell viewers they
need to be a beast, or to get in touch with their animal within. In the last decade of the
nineteenth century, however, animalism was viewed not as a method of self
improvement but as the reprehensible side of humanity that lingered beneath the
surface, waiting for an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, as his financial life begins to slide downhill, McTeague begins the physical
abuse. A slap here, a punch there, until the boxing of ears is a commonplace
occurrence. McTeague acts like a grizzly bear keeping its mate from wandering to
far. Even this doesn t please his sadistic nature. McTeague begins to drink, and his
alcohol sodden brain allows the beast to take full control. He begins biting Trina s
fingers. Although the skin is not usually broken by his chomps, her fingers are
bruised to the point where she finds work difficult if not incapacitating. Eventually,
McTeague does begin to break her flesh with his teeth, and the paint that she works
with poisons her fingers, requiring amputation. Mutilated and finally crushed, Trina
leaves McTeague, causing the beast to take full control of the fallen man.
McTeague s pact with nature is sealed when he kills Trina in the coatroom of a
school. When he flees, he relies on his animal instincts to keep him alive. Like a
deer chased by a wolf, McTeague manages to elude his pursuers until they trap him in
Death Valley. The hunting pack then closes in, and McTeague joins the hunters in a
blood soaked death.
Trina is as much an animal as her husband. She is initially repelled by the dentist s
brutish nature, but as soon as he casts his dominating spell on him, her masochistic
animal nature awakens. She experiences sexual arousal from McTeague s
Hate The Criminal Justice System Through Juvenile
Graffiti...
Reflection I first learned to hate the criminal justice system through juvenile graffiti
around New Haven. I admired the rebellion of the rushed handwriting comparing
cops to pigs on walls and flowing anarchist symbols. The fight against the police
system was first rooted in teenage angst rather than real frustration. My friends and I
would sing along to punk songs written by train hoppers about how corrupt capitalists
and policewere and I gleefully claimed to be a communist, without really knowing
what any of this rebellion really meant. As I grew up I began to see injustice in a
much more real and concerning light, far beyond the mindless slogans. I would
listen in horror as my friends from New Haven told stories of being handcuffed and
put on the ground for merely being parked in a Target parking lot after closing
time. Meanwhile, my white classmates would tell stories of countless just warnings
from the police. As I learned more from both the perspectives of my friends and the
media these inequities seemed to become grossly unjust. However I had always
seen this through a second hand lense, my friends, the media, everything seemed so
far away from my home. My privilege kept me safe from every encountering the real
consequences of the oppressive state. Although I empathized heavily with these
issues, I had the option to disengage from activism at anytime. Throughout this class
I have met people who do not have the option to take a break from violence or

Diversity Within English Essay
Diversity Within English
In order to understand how language variation descriptors are used, we first must
understand what language variation is. We can say that the U.S. is linguistically
diverse because of the multitude of languages spoken here, but we can also find
diversity within these languages. All languages have both dialectical variations and
registral variations. These variations, or dialects, can differ in lexicon, phonology, and
/or syntax from the Standard Language that we often think of as Е’correct Language,
although they are not necessarily less proper than, say, Standard English. It depends
on where, by whom, and in what situation the dialect is used as to whether or not it is
appropriate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are three main types of reactions to these socially significant items. 1. Social
indicators the speaker, and often the listener, is not aware that these items are
socially significant in revealing one s social status, so the speaker makes no
attempt to avoid them when speaking in a more formal style. This would be
someone who wants to take your picture, rather than your photograph. 2. Social
markers the speaker is sensitive to these items and will avoid them in a more formal
style of speech, although the speaker may not be fully aware of why. Examples
would be avoiding contractions, and phrases like gonna or didja. Social markers are
much more prevalent in American English than social indicators.
3. Social stereotypes even speakers who regularly use these types of dialects are
fully aware of the stigma attached to them. Social stereotypes would include the
copula deletion in Black English, and the loosing of sounds a la Joe Pesci that
produce phrases such as doze tree guys.
Closely related to these social class factors are education and occupation. While
occupations often produce their own jargons, a person s occupation will also
determine what style of speech is used. A lawyer and a laborer would not be likely
to use the same dialect on the job. Likewise, a person with little education is not
likely to use the same style of speech as a college professor. This does not imply that
The Safety Of A Food Supply
The stability of a food supply is often the most important thing a society can offer
to its people. However, in a changing global environment filled with bacteria,
viruses, and disease, scientists and farmers have continually tried to find ways to
make food safer for consumers. The normal way currently is to use pesticides and
preservatives to keep diseases at bay and keep foodfrom going bad and possibly
causing harm to those who eat it. Some researchers, however, are still looking for
safer and more effective ways to preserve food, and the idea of food irradiationhas
been around since the early 1900 s. Anything involving radiation often scared
consumers and makes them not trust the quality of the food, because they do not
believe that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The FDA greatly expanded the use of food irradiation in the year 1986, even though
it was already used for things such as wheat, flour, and potatoes. Before this time,
radiation was thought of in food terms as an additive, not a process the food must
go through. In fact, by 1988, some nineteen major countries had laws in place that
allowed for certain foods to be irradiated to help better preserve them. The world is
beginning to realize this form of preservation as a viable option, and the only thing
left is for the consumer and the government to decide whether or not this should be a
commonly used method.
Food irradiation has many variables that make it exactly what it is. There are
different types of irradiation that work on different types of food, and accomplish
different tasks such as sterilization, disease prevention, or even acting as an insect
repellent. The thing that truly defines the different types, however, is the type of
radiation used. The most effective types include electron beam radiation, gamma
ray radiation, and x ray radiation. Electron beam radiation is the shortest in terms of
time needed to irradiate the food, but it also does not penetrate very deep, only
about half a centimeter. This type of ray radiation is used to merely disinfect things
like wheat and some grains. Gamma ray radiation is the use of Cobalt 60 in most
places to irradiate the food. In fact, this type of radiation can penetrate up to six
inches.
Bushido Essay
It has been seen within the world we live in that religion or philosophies in
opposition lead to conflict. It does not even matter if the people in opposition are
from the same nation, ethnic group, or not. Civil wars are often the most brutal of
conflicts, ending friendships and sundering familial ties. Within the fantasy world
of Legend of the Five Rings there are the opposing warrior traditions of Bushido
and Shourido. Bushido is the traditional way of the warrior, a code that has existed
since the first century of The Empire of Rokugan. Bushido is defined by seven
virtues: Compassion, Courage, Courtesy, Duty, Honesty, Honor, and Sincerity
(Carmen et al. 42). Over a thousand years later the code of Shourido came into
existence, with a more individualistic approach slowly gaining a following. This
following swelled with the formation of The Spider Clan which almost wholly
embraced Shourido. Like Bushido, the code of Shourido also has seven virtues which
are: Control, Determination, Insight, Knowledge, Perfection, Strength, and Will
(Carmen et al. 45). Within this fictional society that exists as a feudal Empire the mass

A society built upon this foundation in a world with no means of swift long
distance communications relies upon stability to maintain cohesion. Bushido plays
an important role here as those who rule follow its tenets making their actions
predictable in the day to day lives of those in the lower castes and among each
other. The virtue of Loyalty ensures that political coups are rare; in fact, among the
Imperial line, it has only taken place once in over a thousand years. This stability
allows for a high probability of prosperity barring war or natural calamity. The other
virtues only enhance the Empire s stability as they dictate a whole range of behaviors

Example Of Interpretive Paradigm
5.2 Interpretive Paradigm The interpretive paradigm has its theoretical roots in
hermeneutics, phenomenology and symbolic interactionism. The qualitative research
methodologies are based on interpretive research paradigm. This paradigm believes
that we should conduct research to comprehend social life and describe how people
construct social meaning. It seeks to understand the meaning human actions and
experiences and generate accounts of those meanings from the perspective of the
participants in the research. This approach to social science research rejects the
positivist idea that the research methods of physical sciences can be used in the social
sciences to understand the human behaviour. Interpretivists argue that the

Thus, the reality as we know it is constructed through the meanings and
understandings that we develop through our social experiences and interactions. It
believes that human beings are social beings who create meaning and constantly
engage in making sense of their worlds. In order to explain the social reality,
Interpretivists describe how the meaning system of a group emerges and is sustained
over time; and the theory contains information that is detailed, situated in a context
and involves minimal abstraction. Interpretivists consider the common sense as
powerful everyday theories that are useful in understanding people and are as much
valid as science as they guide our daily lives. Interpretivists thus believe that good
evidence is one which is situated in the context of a person s social interactions, to
which the meanings are assigned. Here, social dialogue is important to generate
findings and knowledge claims as it through the dialogue that conflicting
interpretations emerge and negotiated between the community members. It is through
this dialectical process that we can have a better and sophisticated understanding of
the social environment of the individuals. So, it is important to foster a dialogue

Gucci as plaintiff accuse that Wang s website sells goods with the knowledge that
his product will be mistaken as a genuine goods designed, made, and approved by

are some reason why Gucci is able to file a lawsuit towards Wang in the U.S Federal

sell counterfeit products. The second reason was that website sells and ships their

rid of our yearly calendars and instead have a permanent calendar. In this solar

The moon or the stars do not play a role in this calendar. Since the March equinox
(mean astronomical northward equinoctial year) is slowly drifting towards earlier
dates in March while the Earth s revolutions and rotations, especially the precession
of the equinoxes, are slowly changing the tilt of Earth s axis, the rate of the
equinox drift will increase in the years to come. In order to address this problem,
and align the Sun and the Earth s orbits, the Symmetry454 calendar has a simple
293 year cycle with 52 leap weeks, resulting in the proper alignment for the next
4000 years in respect to the March equinox, the Sun, and the Earth. This
symmetrical leap rule of the 293 year leap cycle results in long term symmetry to
the calendar, allowing the precise timing of the Northward equinox to consistently
fall in the first year of every 293 year cycle. Within each repeating leap cycle, the
same set of years are the leap year years. Having 52 weeks in a regular year allows
for this calendar to be perpetual, meaning it starts on the same weekday every
year, as well as preserving the traditional 7 day week cycle. The way that this is
accomplished by this calendar is to include a leap week at the end of every 5th or
6th year, during the month of December. This leap week insures that day and week
number will stay constant within the years. This leap also ensures that the Orbit of
the sun and Earth stay relatively fixed and synchronized with the seasons over
many centuries. The Epoch of this calendar is the same date as that of the
Gregorian calendar, falling on Monday, January 1 of the year 1 AD. Lastly, because
no Friday will fall on the 13th of a month in the whole year, there s no more bad luck

Overview of Bulimia Essay
Throughout history, women have proved their intellectual strength. Whether it be
gaining the right to vote and breaking the gender barrier from 1848 1920, or
standing up against racial injustice, women have been some of the most influential
people. However, even after all this, women still have an increased desire to be thin
because it is deemed prettier and more desirable. 40% of normal weight adolescent
females regard themselves as fat and aspire to a thinner body, but do not have time to
watch what they eat or exercise (Wade, Keski Rahkonen, Hudson, 2011). It appears
that the pursuit of thinness may have emerged as a way through which women could

eating by bulimics, which is the consumption of an amount of food that is larger

must also be accompanied by a sense of lack of control and usually occurs in
secrecy or as inconspicuously as possible. An indicator of loss of control is the
inability to refrain from eating or to stop eating once started. The consideration of
an episode is subjective to the occasion too, as the quantity of food that might be
regarded as excessive for a typical meal might be considered normal during a holiday
meal. Individuals often do not stop binging until they are to the point of being
uncomfortably full (American Psychiatric Association, 1980). The larger the amount
of food ingested, the more rapid the emptying rate which is why bulimia is rarely
successful as a means of weight control; however, bulimic activity can result in

The Political Nature of Accounting Standard Setting in Australia
The Political Nature of Accounting Standard Setting in Australia
Introduction
There been conflict in most western countries between private sector bodies and the
governmental bodies concerning the process of establishing regulatory arrangements
required for setting accounting standards (Hopwood et.al 2005). The recent changes
by the Australian Federal Government regarding the structure of setting the
accounting standards show a huge shift in power to the government from the
professional bodies. Majority of the users of financial reports often try to influence
the accounting standard with the aim of protecting their own interests. Standard

The board was also accountable to the Attorney General s Department of the Federal
government. The key prerequisites for a well functioning and sustainable capital
market are the predictability and reliability of the accounting standards as they enable
a country to easily recover from a financial crisis. It is therefore important for the
standards to be maintained in a transparent way and this has called for political
intervention.
Politicians have a huge responsibility in ensuring that an effective system is set for
setting accounting standards. This is another major reason as to why setting of
accounting standards in Australia has become political (Hopwood et.al 2005). The
government has been involved in the process so as to oversee the development of a
more transparent, efficient and reliable accounting standards. The government is also
responsible for ensuring that the accounting standards are met by the parties using
them failure to which it is punishable by law. This therefore is a clear indication of
how politics of Australia influence the creation of accounting standards (Pacter et.al
2005).
Impacts of the set accounting standards on wide variety of interest groups

prescribed the wrong medicine or the wrong dosages of medicine, it might become

In addition, because of advanced technology, the cost of modern medicine is way
more expensive that minority of people cannot afford. Long term use of modern
medicine has side effect like nausea, vomiting, skin allergies, etc. It can create
toxicity which directly affects the immunity system in the body. For example,
modern medicine like aspirin that reduces blood from clotting, which helps to cut
the risk of the death, but it has side effects like it might cause the stomach irritation
and bleeding. Doctors use an X ray machine to show injuries and disease from the

On the other hand, it has many advantages in improving the human health. The main
aim of practicing modern medicine is to eliminate the signs and symptoms of

The Way, Meet Vera Stark Essay
When thinking about black actresses in the 1930s through 1950s, a few names
may come to mind like Nina McKinney, Lena Horne, Dorothy Dandridge, and
Hattie McDaniel. However, many other black actresses have graced the big screen
including Suzette Harbin, Theresa Hams, Ethel Moses, Mae Turner, and Hilda
Simms just to name a few. Many of these talented actresses differ in their career
paths, but they all endured some form of racism and sexism which made it
laborious for them to thrive in their careers. By the Way, Meet Vera Stark represents
the hardships of black actresses during the 1930s through 1950s. The protagonist,
Vera Stark, persistently tries to prove to the people around her that she has star
quality for show business. However, she does not reach her potential because of her
race. Although she obtains some gigs, the gigs demean black women during that
time. The offensive parts for black actresses vary from mammy to slave woman to
seductress. The following roles offered black actresses opportunities to one day
acquire star making roles. Unfortunately, those roles did not apply to black
actresses. Only white actors and actresses experienced that fortuity. By the Way,
Meet Vera Stark exposes Hollywood s misconduct of black actresses and further
explains the lack of black representation today. Indeed, roles for black actresses have
increased since the 1930s through 1950s; however the roles have become more
stereotypical like the obnoxious black woman, the token black
Institutionalization Of Social Movement Analysis
Q 1: In general, institutionalization portrays a repeated set of procedures and
relationships wherein the raising of a political issue becomes routine and repeatable
while maintaining minimum uncertainty and risk. The institutionalization of protests
as Meyers describes sees activists promoting mechanisms that will allow them to
interact with government in such a routine way that will enable a fundamental
change for a social movementand the government they influence (Meyers 177).
Meyers outlines six typical mechanisms used through the institutionalization of
protest in the U.S. One typical mechanism has to do with policymakers offering a

Fuel Economy Regulations
Fuel Economy Regulations are Crushing the Economy In 1975, the United States
government passed the first round of regulations on fuel economy for private
passenger vehicles. The corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standards were
intended to gradually increase the average fuel economy of consumer vehicles in an
attempt to reduce the release of the global warming gas carbon dioxide, as well as
reduce the United Statesdependence on foreign oil reserves. This action originally
seemed to be very effective at slowly improving the efficiency of cars and light
trucks, but the bill s period of usefulness has since expired. When President of the
United States, Barack Obama raised the fuel economy mandates via executive order
to 54.5 miles per gallon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sale of many cars that help companies comply with efficiency standards have
remained very minimal, because consumers do not want these less functional or
comfortable products. In January of 2015, the General Motors Company sold
only 542 all electric Chevy Volts, out of 1.5 million total sales (Matthews). As
vehicles are forced to achieve higher fuel standards, many cars are forced to get
smaller, which sacrifices areas such as comfort and utility in many of America s
cars, and consumers simply are not buying this. This lack of desire for fuel
efficient vehicles shows that the government, with its fuel efficiency mandates,
working against the majority opinion of the people. Also, over the years since
CAFE standards were first put in place, the sales of large cars and SUVs has risen
dramatically, reaching 2.9 million of 4.9 million total car sales in 2011 (Gardner).
These large, heavy, high fuel consumption vehicles make it much more difficult for
auto companies to comply with the minimum fuel economy. Even though this
increase in the sale of low efficiency vehicles, average fuel economy has gone
dramatically up, and has, for all years, been somewhat higher than CAFE minimums
(ANWYL). This shows that there is still consumer desire to have fuel efficient
vehicles, but it is not a top concern
British Control Over The Suez Canal
In 1882, Great Britain took over Egypt through military invasions, making it a
protectorate in order to have control over the Suez Canal. The Suez Canal connected
the British Empire in the west to India in the east, making it significant trade route
for Britain to control. During the Cold War, Egypt became an area of great tension,
challenging British control over the canal. There was an increase of nationalism,
along with the rise of Gamal Abdel Nasserto power. His rise to power lead to the Suez
CanalCrisis and Egypts independence from Britain in 1956. The Arab Spring began
in Tunisia in December, 2010, eventually spreading to Egypt in 2011. British control
over parts of Africa during the nineteenth century lead to many crises in the 20th and
21st centuries, including the Suez Canal Crisis and the Arab Spring in Egypt. The
Cold War began soon after the Second World War ended, starting in 1947 and ending
in 1991. The United States and the Soviet Union competed for nuclear superiority,

Intro For Essay

  • 1. Intro For Essay Crafting an introduction for an essay might seem deceptively simple at first glance, but the task is fraught with challenges that can make the process quite daunting. The endeavor demands a delicate balance of creativity, precision, and engagement, as the introduction serves as the gateway to the entire essay. Striking the right tone, capturing the reader's attention, and succinctly outlining the scope of the essay are all intricate maneuvers that require a keen understanding of both the subject matter and the art of effective communication. One must navigate through the intricate dance of establishing context, introducing key concepts, and laying the groundwork for the essay's argument or exploration. The pressure to make a memorable first impression can be overwhelming, and the risk of falling into clichГ©s or generic openings looms large. The constant battle to avoid verbosity while ensuring that the introduction is comprehensive enough can add an additional layer of complexity. Moreover, the task is not only about clarity but also about intrigue – the introduction must compel the reader to continue, fostering a sense of anticipation and curiosity about the unfolding discourse. This nuanced dance between information and allure demands not only linguistic prowess but also a deep understanding of the audience and the overarching purpose of the essay. In conclusion, writing an introduction for an essay is a subtle yet formidable challenge, demanding a blend of literary finesse, analytical acumen, and an intuitive grasp of reader psychology. It's an art that requires time, effort, and skill to master, but the rewards lie in the ability to captivate and guide the reader into the heart of the essay's narrative or argument. For those who find themselves grappling with the intricacies of this task, assistance is available. Similar essays and a wealth of writing support can be accessed through platforms like HelpWriting.net, providing a helping hand in navigating the complexities of essay composition. • 2. Five Dimensions Of Verizon Case Study Verizon Is a cable company used by thousands. Most of the places I have lived in my life have used either Verizon or Xfinity for their cable service provider. I will never use Verizon for the rest of my life because of the service I received. I started my contract in September 2016 and it lasted until May 2016. I was getting my own apartment in Glassboro in which I needed cable and internet. This was my first time really setting up the payment for cable and internet. I have never used a cable service prior. The first impression of the company was over the phone and the last impression of Verizon ended with me paying $130.00 cancellation fee. The servicescape of a company is the physical environment in which the service is performed, delivered,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the employee installed the router and television box my cable and internet was up and running. It did not last long. The internet was extremely slow and the television service was not much greater. The cable service did not always work which was stressful for me particularly being a college student. I would constantly call to Verizon to fix the problems. I fixed the issues most of the time, but it was a great inconvenience to my day. Responsiveness is the willingness to provide prompt service and have a willingness to help customers. Verizon s service was not prompt. Verizon would keep me on the phone for a minimum of 45 minutes, most of my time just waiting. The automated machines that would assist customers do not help if your problem is not listed. You will wait on the phone for minutes at a time answering unnecessary questions that are prompted by the
  • 3. Motivational Interviewing And Alcohol Use Disorder Motivational Interviewing and Alcohol Use Disorder Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a treatment strategy created to encourage a person to move from ambivalence to change talk defined as any self expressed language that is an argument for change (Miller Rollnick, 2012, p. 159). The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th ed.; DSM 5;) categorizes Substance Use Disorder as an umbrella diagnosis identifying individuals with a substance abuse or dependence disorder that designates the social, physical and emotional consequences of substance abuse. Although there are six use disorders listed under the Substance Use Disorder category; this paper focuses strictly on Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). The purpose of this paper is to examine how MI is an effective therapeutic intervention for people who have AUD and how change talk helps patients move past ambivalence. Overview According to the DSM 5, a diagnosis of substance use disorder is based on evidence of impaired control, social impairment, risky use and pharmacological criteria (samhsa.gov, 2015). The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) reports that 52.7% of Americans age 12 years and older reported being current drinkers (2015). It is estimated that 17 million Americans have an AUD based on the criteria of the DSM 5. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) defines drinking in three levels: moderate drinking, binge drinking, and heavy drinking. Moderate drinkers
  • 4. California Floristic Province Essay The California Floristic Province. The California Floristic Province, is the only hot spot that occurs largely in the United States; it is home to exceptionally high plant diversity and varieties of habitat. Stretching along the west coast starting in southwestern Oregon, it covers 70% of the State of California, and into northwestern Baja California, Mexico. Why is California Floristic Province a hotspot? According to the BBC, of nearly 2,000 of the plant species found in the province, are found nowhere else in the world, in addition, the hotspot is also home to two spectacular endemic tree species, the giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum), and the coastal Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens). In addition, The Sierra Club, Wilderness Society, Nature Conservancy, Conservation International, and California Native Plant Society, are key contributors to conservation efforts in the California Floristic Province. One thing than can be done, besides educating the public and lobbying the politicians, is to take legal actions against individual decision makers who cause distraction of the environment through their legislature. In other words, if a XYZ Corp. purchases a land for development, which is a recognized habitat to endangered species, it might be more effective to target the individuals within the company, rather than the company itself. On top of that, a negative publicity campaign, employing the social media, might be effective too.

Pine Needle Drive Case Study We chose 8622 Pine Needle Drive as our best valued home because it either beat the market or every other home across the board when looking at the financial metrics we used to evaluate and compare the different properties. It s asking price of $285,869 is below the estimated market price of $285,902. The propertys 1 yr Market Value Forecast is approximately $314,063 and would be a 9.8% increase in value over the course of just one year. • 6. Research Paper On Curfew Curfew Comments Have you ever heard of the witching hour? The period between 3 am and 4 am is often referred to as the witching or devil hour, since that is when paranormal forces are at their strongest. Some high school students choose to leave their home and hang out in the streets during this time. Whether you believe in paranormal forces or not, it is not safe for minors to be outside after midnight. Kids often view curfews as an unnecessary rule, but there are many benefits to having one. • 7. Peter Grandon s Third Wife And Winter Dreams Life will be more fantastic if we are holding dreams in our minds. However, the dream should rather be a target. The gap, which between the dream and realistic, will lead us to push ourselves to reach it. However, if the gap is too large, it is not a target anymore. Instead of a target, it is a fake world, or a lie, where we would like ourselves to live, and we will indulge ourselves in the lie. This kind of exchange thinking of the gap between reality and ideal is called Faustian Bargain, or deal with the devil. • 9. Persuasive Essay On Drone Warfare Is one death acceptable for the survivability of hundreds around the world while in the comfort of your own home? Debatable yes, but is it absolutely necessary? In essence, the sacrificial death of one person in hopes of saving an entire population would be the just action even if it means hurting the ones affiliated with the death of a loved one, so yes, it is necessary. On April 1st, there was an event where Colonel Powell, a British U.K. officer, had primarily launched an event to capture number 2, 3, and 5 terrorists on the American list of most wanted terrorists in Africa. However, these two of these terrorists were once local citizens, one from the United States and the other belonging to the United Kingdom. Due to the gradual change of events, Colonel Powell was presented with the only option of killing the targets with a hellfire missile launched from a drone. Due to some severe circumstances, a girl named Alia was unfortunately caught in the blast that was enhanced by the terrorists armed suicide vests. Many tend to argue that the unfortunate death of Alia was considered an act of injustice, no less firing the missile from a far away distance, specifically Nevada, and from a drone. This unfortunate event is an example of how morals are questioned and how Drone Warfare could be perceived as an invasion of privacy and as an inaccurate and inhumane method of eliminating targets. I ask you this, would you yourselves want the betterment of humanity in terms of

The chapters build upon each other in a way that creates a well rounded understanding of the protagonist Edmond DantГ©s life. The fist four chapters focus on DantГ©s accomplishments and his success. Dumas highlights all that is positive in DantГ©s life such as him becoming captain of the Pharaon at such a young age and that he is finally able to marry the love of his life, Mercedes. The fourth chapter is the turning point in which DantГ©s life turns from joy to suffering. Chapters five and six are where DantГ©s fate is decided. The Success Of Registered Nurses Hard work, knowledge, and interpersonal skills are some of the most important aspects that will directly impact the success of registered nurses (RNs) within the medical healthcare field. They are professionals that require an amount of comprehensive education and skills that are related to assessing, planning, and intervening to promote patient care ( The Nursing Process, n.d.). In order to become RNs, associate degrees in nursing (ADN) must be earned from a state approved training program. Some provinces were still under Austrian rule such as Venetia and Lombardy. The Spanish Bourbon family ruled the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies while the Pope controlled the Papal States. Seeing the separation of states, Mazzini, Garibaldi, and Cavour made advancements towards unifying the country. Mazzini formed a nationalist group called Young Italy. He called for an end to foreign rule and the unification of Italy based on the common language and culture of the people. This movement was called the risorgimento. This plan failed and the former rules of Italian states drove Mazzini and other nationalist leaders into exile. Next came Garibaldi who was the leader of the Red Shirts. They were volunteers who followed Garibaldi in Southern Italy. This nationalist group was successful in gaining control of Sicily in 1860. He then crossed into the mainland and marched north. We posit that, when dispersal occurs from a source to a sink year after year, there will be a one year time lagged correlation in abundance between the two populations (Tittler, Fahrig Villard 2006, p. 1). I admired the rebellion of the rushed handwriting comparing cops to pigs on walls and flowing anarchist symbols. The fight against the police system was first rooted in teenage angst rather than real frustration. My friends and I would sing along to punk songs written by train hoppers about how corrupt capitalists and policewere and I gleefully claimed to be a communist, without really knowing what any of this rebellion really meant. As I grew up I began to see injustice in a much more real and concerning light, far beyond the mindless slogans. I would listen in horror as my friends from New Haven told stories of being handcuffed and put on the ground for merely being parked in a Target parking lot after closing time. Meanwhile, my white classmates would tell stories of countless just warnings from the police. We can say that the U.S. is linguistically diverse because of the multitude of languages spoken here, but we can also find diversity within these languages. All languages have both dialectical variations and registral variations. These variations, or dialects, can differ in lexicon, phonology, and /or syntax from the Standard Language that we often think of as Е’correct Language, although they are not necessarily less proper than, say, Standard English. Social indicators the speaker, and often the listener, is not aware that these items are socially significant in revealing one s social status, so the speaker makes no attempt to avoid them when speaking in a more formal style. This would be someone who wants to take your picture, rather than your photograph. 2. Social markers the speaker is sensitive to these items and will avoid them in a more formal style of speech, although the speaker may not be fully aware of why. Examples would be avoiding contractions, and phrases like gonna or didja. Social markers are much more prevalent in American English than social indicators. 3. Social stereotypes even speakers who regularly use these types of dialects are fully aware of the stigma attached to them. Social stereotypes would include the copula deletion in Black English, and the loosing of sounds a la Joe Pesci that produce phrases such as doze tree guys. The FDA greatly expanded the use of food irradiation in the year 1986, even though it was already used for things such as wheat, flour, and potatoes. Before this time, radiation was thought of in food terms as an additive, not a process the food must go through. In fact, by 1988, some nineteen major countries had laws in place that allowed for certain foods to be irradiated to help better preserve them. The world is beginning to realize this form of preservation as a viable option, and the only thing left is for the consumer and the government to decide whether or not this should be a commonly used method. Food irradiation has many variables that make it exactly what it is. There are different types of irradiation that work on different types of food, and accomplish different tasks such as sterilization, disease prevention, or even acting as an insect repellent. The thing that truly defines the different types, however, is the type of radiation used. The most effective types include electron beam radiation, gamma ray radiation, and x ray radiation. Electron beam radiation is the shortest in terms of time needed to irradiate the food, but it also does not penetrate very deep, only about half a centimeter. This type of ray radiation is used to merely disinfect things like wheat and some grains. Gamma ray radiation is the use of Cobalt 60 in most places to irradiate the food. In fact, this type of radiation can penetrate up to six inches.

Not just because they were loud, obnoxious, and grumpy, but mainly because there were three of them. No one in Bikini Bottom seemed to know why, and it just became accepted amongst everyone. Fortunately, it was relatively easy to tell them all apart. One of the Jenkinses in particular was the most famous around town. He was green, short, fat, and sported big glasses. It seeks to understand the meaning human actions and experiences and generate accounts of those meanings from the perspective of the participants in the research. Thus, the reality as we know it is constructed through the meanings and understandings that we develop through our social experiences and interactions. It believes that human beings are social beings who create meaning and constantly engage in making sense of their worlds. In order to explain the social reality, Interpretivists describe how the meaning system of a group emerges and is sustained over time; and the theory contains information that is detailed, situated in a context and involves minimal abstraction. Interpretivists consider the common sense as powerful everyday theories that are useful in understanding people and are as much valid as science as they guide our daily lives. Interpretivists thus believe that good evidence is one which is situated in the context of a person s social interactions, to which the meanings are assigned. Here, social dialogue is important to generate findings and knowledge claims as it through the dialogue that conflicting interpretations emerge and negotiated between the community members. It is through this dialectical process that we can have a better and sophisticated understanding of the social environment of the individuals. How great would it be to continuously have the same dates for every holiday year by year? The Symnnetry454 Calendar that s being planned to replace the Gregorian calendar can establish all that! Soon, Friday the 13th won t be a day of bad luck for anyone very again. The Symmetry454 calendar is proposed by Dr. Irv Bromberg, who always wondered how we could get rid of our yearly calendars and instead have a permanent calendar. In this solar calendar, every year contains the same days, on the same timein the week, in the same month. Every year and every month start on a Monday and end on a Sunday, following a simple 454 month/quarter... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The moon or the stars do not play a role in this calendar. Since the March equinox (mean astronomical northward equinoctial year) is slowly drifting towards earlier dates in March while the Earth s revolutions and rotations, especially the precession of the equinoxes, are slowly changing the tilt of Earth s axis, the rate of the equinox drift will increase in the years to come. In order to address this problem, and align the Sun and the Earth s orbits, the Symmetry454 calendar has a simple 293 year cycle with 52 leap weeks, resulting in the proper alignment for the next 4000 years in respect to the March equinox, the Sun, and the Earth. This symmetrical leap rule of the 293 year leap cycle results in long term symmetry to the calendar, allowing the precise timing of the Northward equinox to consistently fall in the first year of every 293 year cycle. Within each repeating leap cycle, the same set of years are the leap year years. Having 52 weeks in a regular year allows for this calendar to be perpetual, meaning it starts on the same weekday every year, as well as preserving the traditional 7 day week cycle. The way that this is accomplished by this calendar is to include a leap week at the end of every 5th or 6th year, during the month of December. This leap week insures that day and week number will stay constant within the years. This leap also ensures that the Orbit of the sun and Earth stay relatively fixed and synchronized with the seasons over many centuries. The Epoch of this calendar is the same date as that of the Gregorian calendar, falling on Monday, January 1 of the year 1 AD. Lastly, because no Friday will fall on the 13th of a month in the whole year, there s no more bad luck for

The excessive consumption of food must also be accompanied by a sense of lack of control and usually occurs in secrecy or as inconspicuously as possible. An indicator of loss of control is the inability to refrain from eating or to stop eating once started. The consideration of an episode is subjective to the occasion too, as the quantity of food that might be regarded as excessive for a typical meal might be considered normal during a holiday meal. Individuals often do not stop binging until they are to the point of being uncomfortably full (American Psychiatric Association, 1980). The larger the amount of food ingested, the more rapid the emptying rate which is why bulimia is rarely successful as a means of weight control; however, bulimic activity can result in gastric ulcers and other

Fuel Economy Regulations Fuel Economy Regulations are Crushing the Economy In 1975, the United States government passed the first round of regulations on fuel economy for private passenger vehicles. The corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standards were intended to gradually increase the average fuel economy of consumer vehicles in an attempt to reduce the release of the global warming gas carbon dioxide, as well as reduce the United Statesdependence on foreign oil reserves. This action originally seemed to be very effective at slowly improving the efficiency of cars and light trucks, but the bill s period of usefulness has since expired. When President of the United States, Barack Obama raised the fuel economy mandates via executive order to 54.5 miles per gallon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sale of many cars that help companies comply with efficiency standards have remained very minimal, because consumers do not want these less functional or comfortable products. In January of 2015, the General Motors Company sold only 542 all electric Chevy Volts, out of 1.5 million total sales (Matthews). As vehicles are forced to achieve higher fuel standards, many cars are forced to get smaller, which sacrifices areas such as comfort and utility in many of America s cars, and consumers simply are not buying this. This lack of desire for fuel efficient vehicles shows that the government, with its fuel efficiency mandates, working against the majority opinion of the people. Also, over the years since CAFE standards were first put in place, the sales of large cars and SUVs has risen dramatically, reaching 2.9 million of 4.9 million total car sales in 2011 (Gardner). These large, heavy, high fuel consumption vehicles make it much more difficult for auto companies to comply with the minimum fuel economy. Even though this increase in the sale of low efficiency vehicles, average fuel economy has gone dramatically up, and has, for all years, been somewhat higher than CAFE minimums (ANWYL). This shows that there is still consumer desire to have fuel efficient vehicles, but it is not a top concern
