ASSIGNMENT
Identify the parts of speech in each sentence. Underline once the nouns, twice
the pronouns, cross-out the verbs, encircle the adverbs, box the prepositions,
put star above adjectives, heart above conjunctions and exclamation point
above interjections.
1. You have to believe in yourself if you ever expect
to be successful at something.
2.We left for the mountain just before six in the
morning.
3.We first went to the store to buy a few things.
4. We had a breakfast at a café near the rail station.
5. My friend wasn't strong enough to lift his heavy
rucksack.

  • 5. Kinds of 1. Personal 2. Compound Personal 3. Interrogative 4. Indefinite 5. Demonstrative
  • 6. The students dance to the beat of “Dancing Queen”.
  • 9. Is a word used to express an action, condition, or a state of being.
  • 10.
  • 11. Tells what the subject does Physical Mental Example: 1. Kingkong stomps through the streets of New York. 2. Everyone fears Kong.
  • 12. Links its subject to a word in the predicate. Example: Is, am, are, was, were, been, being King kong is a huge gorilla.
  • 14. Is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective or another adverb.

  • 24. Some examples of conjunctions: For And Nor But Or Yet So
  • 25. Examples:  John sang and Mary danced.  I’m not going, nor is Joan.  John was there but Peter was not.  Hurry or you’ll be late.

  • 27. Preposition - Is a word or group of words used to express the relationship between a noun or pronoun and some other words in the sentence.

  • 30. INTERJECTIONS An interjection is a word that expresses feeling or emotion and functions independently of a sentence. Interjections can express a variety of feelings, such as joy, fear, anger, surprise, exhaustion, dismay, or sorrow.

  • 33. ASSIGNMENT Identify the parts of speech in each sentence. Underline once the nouns, twice the pronouns, cross-out the verbs, encircle the adverbs, box the prepositions, put star above adjectives, heart above conjunctions and exclamation point above interjections. 1. You have to believe in yourself if you ever expect to be successful at something. 2.We left for the mountain just before six in the morning. 3.We first went to the store to buy a few things. 4. We had a breakfast at a café near the rail station. 5. My friend wasn't strong enough to lift his heavy rucksack.
