The Parthenon is a temple built in Greece between 447-432 BC. It was constructed on the Acropolis in Athens as a temple for the goddess Athena. The Parthenon was built in the classical style by famous architects including Iktinos, Kallikrates, and Phidias. It has 8 columns along the width and 17 along the length and was constructed entirely of white marble. The Parthenon seen today is the second temple, as the original was destroyed by Persians in 480 BC.
