The Theme Of Identity In John Knowles A Separate Peace
John Knowles wrote A Separate Peace in 1959, introducing readers to a new perspective to World
War II in a harrowing and luminous way. He places the two main characters, Gene Forrester, and
his friend, Phineas at an all boys academy called Devon at the time of World War II, introducing
themes of identity, warfare, and friendship. Knowles sets the theme of identity before Gene pushes
Phineas off the tree by introducing the personalities of both Gene and Phineas. Phineas is, the best
athlete in school (John Knowles20) with an average build and height of 5 81/2, good looking,
charismatic, and perfect in almost any way (Knowles 21) while Gene is, thoughtful and intelligent
(Knowles 32). Nevertheless, he is envious and competitive of Phineas.

Kant s Principles Of The Metaphysics Of Morals
An Analysis of a Few Elements in Immanuel Kant s
Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Morals
Immanuel Kant offered a reorientation on how the established questions of metaphysics can be
resolved. He claimed that man s mind constructs human experience and that reality must agree
with the mind s notions, in contradiction of the view that the mind is a reflection of reality. His
interpretation was that the mind is capable of actively creating experiences instead of passively
being shaped by reality. Kant further believed that man possesses an objective knowledge of the
universe. A priori laws were the basis of this knowledge; but, questioned its possibility. His
assertions specified that the subject provides the laws that create the experiences of objects and
that these laws were a priori laws that man holds about all objects prior to man s experiences about
them. To understand these laws, Kant investigated man s experiences, specifying those which are
given by the mind apart from those which were provided by instincts. He further argued that
morality is derived from reason and this reason is the origin of man s morality, which he referred
to as the Categorical Imperative. According to Kant, if this categorical imperative is defied, man
becomes irrational and immoral. His logic consisted of inducing from people s daily sensible
knowledge of morality, which he referred to as practical reason, into metaphysical understanding.
As Kant attempted to reorient an

One morning, Thor awoke to see his beautiful wife Sif completely bald. Sif was petrified. Thor
knew straight away that his rival Loki was to blame. An incensed Thor went to Loki and asked
why he pulled out her hair. Thor threatened Loki until eventually, he told Thor that the dwarfs were
capable of making anything, including a head of hair for Sif. Lokitraveled to Svartalfheim, the land
of the dwarfs. He decided to find the three dwarfs known as the sons of Ivaldi who were
remarkable craftsmen. To trick the brothers into making Sif s hair, he set up a competition
between the sons of Ivaldi and Brokk and Eitri, who were also talented dwarfish artisans. Loki
challenged them to make three treasures for the gods, including a golden head of hair. Brokk was
suspicious. He would only agree if they receive Loki s head as a prize for winning the competition.
Loki had to ensure the Ivaldi brothers won the competition. Loki went to Eitri and Brokk s forge
where Loki hears Eitri remind Brokk that he must steadily pump the bellows or the creations would
be ruined. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, the Ivaldi brothers presented Gungnir a magic spear for Odin, real gold hair for Sif, and
Skidbladnir a ship for Frey. Next Brock presented Draupnir a self replicating armband and
Gullinbursti a golden flying boar to pull Frey s chariot. Lastly, Brokk revealed Mjolnir, Thors
hammer which never missed its target, always returned to Thor and could change size, but Loki
s interference caused the handle to be too short. The gods said that Mjolnir was the finest gift
despite the error because it would protect Asgard. The gods chose Brokk and Eitri as the victors.
Loki tried unsuccessfully to avoid decapitation, but in a last desperate attempt to avoid a brutal
beheading Loki plead to Odin and said: you can cut off my head, but not my neck because that
would violate the terms of our agreement. Odin agreed so Brokk sewed Loki s mouth shut

The Importance Of Single Parenting
For my reading pleasure, I was able to read Help! I am Raising My Children Alone by
T. D. Jakes concerning single parenting (Jakes, 2011). This book was written as a practical guide
with the intentions to help single parents overcome the obstacles of single parenting and discover
the hidden treasure that lies beneath the struggle. T. D. Jakes is a bishop, therefore there is a
copious amount of faith and biblical scripture woven into his writing, however he does maintain
practicality as well. Jakes (2011) encourage single parents to not give up, despite their
circumstance. He also equips the single parents with thought provoking questions at the end of each
chapter for reflecting, and activities to do with their families that will be beneficial to the growth
and stability of each family.
I would like to begin with a quote. Jakes (2011) states I raise my bow. Even if I am shot, I will
raise my bow. I will lift it above my past, my pain, and my fears (p. 200). These arrows; my
children, are my defense. I believe that this is a powerful statement to abide by to counteract the
negative stigma that often comes with single parenting. Many single parents+ usually see their
mistakes and feel guilty, struggle with past hurts, and may feel at a loss when it comes to raising
their kids. However, Jakes encourages single parents to aim their bow high so that their children
may soar. Single parents seeing their children soar to become great people in society gives purpose
and meaning

The Montessori Method Of Education By Observing Behaviors
Dr. Maria Montessori developed the Montessori Method of education by observing behaviors in
young children which formed the foundation of her educational method. Montessori method is a
child centered educational approach based on scientific clarifications of children from birth to
adulthood. Dr. Montessori s Method has been time tested, with over 100 years of success in
diverse cultures throughout the world. It is a view of the child as one who is naturally eager for
knowledge and capable of initiating learningin a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning
environment. It is an approach that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child
physical, social, emotional and mental.

develop in writing and reading. They are ready to write orderly from left to right and top to

different sections too:
Г Oral language
Г Writing
Г Reading
Г Introduction to grammar/Function of words
Г Introduction to analysis
In both areas (Practical Life and Language) activities are color coded and all of them are placed
orderly regarding children`s height, as a result children can take and put them back comfortably.
Therefore classroom becomes welcoming for children, and they are interested to work with
activities.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is a Middle Eastern conservative country with age old
traditions and belief systems that are derived from the Arab culture. The country has a prevailing
monarchy that is rich in Arab and Islamic heritage and a characteristic homogeneity in culture
(Anon, n.d). It occupies most of the Arabian Peninsula and it shares boundaries with Jordan, Kuwait,
Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Yemen and the Red Sea (Wikipedia). The introduction and
acceptance of Islam as a major religion is seen to be a driving force in its conservatory approach.
This cultural system predominant in KSA cut into various aspects of life and living. In the country,
public expressions of views are highly prohibited. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to his model, Hofstede classed KSA on a scale of about 80 on the power distance index
(Mead and Andrews, 2009, p.37). Saudi Arabiacan also be assumed to be a county with a high
uncertainty avoidance index. Conflict and competition is usually avoided (Mead and Andrews,
2009). The slow paced introduction of westernization into the culture reveals how the society is
resistant to change, the thought of which places undue anxiety and stress on the members of its
community. The attachment to family ties is a manifestation of its collectivistic approach in the
culture of the Saudis. The social identity is derived from a group membership he/she shares.
Loyalty to one s family members supersedes that of the individual; family involvement in personal
life is usually not seen as being invasive or interfering (Anon, 2008). Hofstede scores the Saudis as
having about 40 on the individualistic dimension (Mead and Andrews, 2009). Since this dimension
expresses independence, a low score would mean a higher tendency towards collectivism. Even
though the culture of the Saudis emphasizes hierarchy and autocracy, their mode of conflict
resolution is compromise. The Saudi Arabians believe in relationship building and on solidarity
(Anon, 2008), and thus characteristic of the feministic cultures. However, a masculinity feature is
also observed amongst its members of the society. Sex roles are not equally distributed as it is
expected that females who ought to be gentle,

The Rational Choice Theory Of Cesare Beccaria
The topic I have chosen to write this research paper over is the rational choice theory. The rational
choice theory started with the work of Cesare Beccaria in the late eighteenth century. From that
point forward, the theory has been developed and opened up to incorporate different viewpoints,
like discouragement and routine activity theory. The rational choice theoryis a monetary rule that
expresses that people dependably settle on reasonable and legitimate choices. These choices furnish
individuals with the best advantage or fulfillment, given the decisions accessible and are likewise in
their most elevated self interest.
Rational choice theory accepts that all individuals attempt to effectively expand their preference in
any circumstance and in this way reliably attempt to minimize their misfortunes. The hypothesis
depends on the possibility that all people construct their choices in light of sound figuring s, act
with discernment when picking, and intend to increment either delight or benefit. Rational choice
theory likewise stipulates that all unpredictable social wonders are driven by individual human
activities. Accordingly, if a business analyst needs to clarify social change or the activities of
social organizations, he needs to take a look at the balanced choices of the people that make up the
entirety.
The rational choice theory permits inclinations to be spoken to as genuine esteemed utility
capacities. Monetary basic leadership then turns into an issue of

Before You Exit Research Paper
When I first found out that Orlando based pop band Before You Exit had never signed a record
deal until last month, I was absolutely shocked. Although their line up has changed quite a bit
over the years, Before You Exit has been producing music and touring all over the world since
their formation in 2007. However, this formation was more of a natural coming together, as the
group consists of brothers Connor McDonough (21), Riley McDonough (19), and Toby
McDonough (17). On Saturday, August 8th, I got the opportunity to interview the boys of
Before You Exit at Club Nokia, a few hours before they took the stage on their final night as an

Ethical Decisions In The Workplace
We, as individuals, face ethical decisions everyday whether it be for our job or within ourselves.
I currently am facing an ethical dilemma myself. My boss has asked me to balance the books
for the company by tomorrow morning. He has a meeting in the afternoon with the board to
discuss the numbers, so I know I can not be late, however, there is a complication with my
calculations. I can not get the book to balance out. I am scared that my boss will get fired if he
does not have the numbers on time. Consequently, I must make a decision on how I am going to
get correct numbers to my boss by tomorrow morning.
There are so many options and directions I could go to solve this problem. I have chosen to
solve my issue by going back through each month to ensure that all the amounts balance out. I
understand this will take a great deal of time, but it is crucial to find where I made a mistake.
First, I will make sure that all of the amounts are placed in the correct category. For example, I
want to ensure that money used for rent is credited from cash in bank and debited in rent expense.
After I do that, I should be able to check if the debits and credits equal each other. One major
element to accounting that I have learned is that your credits and debits should always equal each
other and if they do not, then you have made a mistake ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

not 100 percent certain if I will get the book to balance out by tomorrow morning, but I do know
that no matter what I will take responsibility for my work whether it be bad or good. If I do the
right thing, then I can at least walk away knowing that I did not cheat to win, instead I failed, yet I
can use this failure as a learning experience. Overall, taking responsibility, in my opinion, is the
most ethical decision I can make, therefore, that is what I will

death can be an unexpected, merciless, and permanent event and to show how fragile life can

It is easy to ignore the possibility of our friends or family dying at any moment or day. Death
always seems categorized with a person being of older age. If an elderly person passes away
from a disease or an organ failure in a hospital, it is expected. If a little girl is murdered or died in
an accident; then it is an unforeseen tragedy. When at a funeral, the friends and relatives of the
deceased all think about the same thing. The memories of the past clash with the reality of the
present. They wonder how a person who was previously so full of life and character now a
motionless corpse being placed in a dark hole. The realization that this person will never be seen
or interacted with ever again is emotionally crushing. Even if it can be a difficult event to endure,
death is an essential part of the cycle of life. Nobody lives forever. Everything must come to an end

Strategies for Alleviating the Gang Crime Problem Essay
Introduction
The definition of a gang crime by the law enforcement officials takes two dimensions but they
employ one of the definitions in order to measure and tackle this problem in the society. The first
definition considers gang related all crimes committed by individuals who belong to a particular
gang without regard to the circumstances surrounding such crimes or the nature of the offense. This
therefore is a member based definition of gang crime. Another but more restrictive definition is that
a gang crime is committed if and when such occurs as part of the function of a gang or for the
benefit of the gang and therefore is strictly gang motivated. Based on the evidence that gang
motivated crimes constitute more than half of gang ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Peer groups are unorganized and small groups of individuals who have a common background
and share the same space. Their involvement in crime is not at any significant level and therefore
its influence on the identity of the group is not important. Peer groups are the lowest level of
gangs. The intermediate level is comprised of more organized groups of young people in the streets
whose motive of participating in criminal activities is strongly attached to the identity of the group
so that the groups assign themselves names. This level therefore is made up of gangs.
Finally, there are the organized criminal groups whose motive of committing crimes is for
personal gains and this may likely be their main occupation. These organized criminal groups

Evidence in Templeton s article supports her assertions about Ibsen s text, because it explains how
the text can be related to every human s truth. Obviously, Templeton believes that A Doll House
does not represent a societal feminist drama but a societal drama for humans in everyday life.
Templeton says, it is argued, never meant to write a play about the highly topical subject of women
s rights; (28). When researching A Doll House, Templeton realized that numerous critics made Ibsen
s play into a promotion for propaganda feminists (28). Feminists believed that A Doll House was
created to speak on the struggle and rights of women. Joan Templeton s argument about feminism is
convincing because she supports Ibsen s intentions as being a person that just speaks the truth about
humans let alone, not just female society. The worst aspects of The Doll House Backlash:
Criticism, Feminism, and Ibsen was Templeton failing to address other characters in A Doll House.
Addressing other characters could have helped Templeton in her arguments about feminism and
Ibsen. However, having more than one female character that fought against obstacles dealing with

Music And Semantics Influence The Emotions Perceived...
Can the emotions elicited by music and semantics influence the emotions perceived in visual
stimuli? Interim report. Introduction The immediate aim of this study is to examine whether
participants perception of primed facial expressions is influenced more by the emotions elicited
from music, or words played during the rating of the faces. This experiment will also aim to
study how participants empathy and state trait levels will change the way that the music/words
effects their rating of primed neutral faces. The time that the participants take to rate each face
will also be measured as a reaction time to see if the mood induced by the music will have any
effect on the time it takes to assess each face. If this study can dissociate the effects of music and
semantics on the rating of faces then we can conclude that we use separate mechanisms in the
generating of emotionality. Studying the difference in the effects of semantics vs music on
emotions will allow us to determine which medium has a large effect over ones emotions, and just
how significant this difference is. It is widely accepted in the scientific community that music can
influence our emotions, this is the reason that films are heavily reliant on the score to help
influence the viewers emotions in order to make the film a more engaging, emotional experience.

His idea not only helped to revolutionize and industrialize America, but it also established the
foundation of a social and economic infrastructure that exists today. David Gartman defines this
beginning as Fordism :
Henry Ford s revolutionary mass production processes for manufacturing automobiles stands as an
almost universal symbol for modern industrial capitalism. Both its hitherto unimagined material
productivity and its similarly unprecedented impoverishment of the human spirit are simultaneously
captured by the contradictory image of the automobile assembly line. Along such lines and in
other mechanized processes pioneered by Ford, degraded and dehumanized workers toil to
produce the very products that enrich their leisure lives. The incredible productivity of Fordist
mass production makes possible, perhaps even necessary, mass consumption. Historians remind us
that not only did Henry Ford innovate production methods that steadily lowered the price of a
complex, mechanical consumer good, but he also pioneered the transformation of the toiling
masses into consumers by raising his workers wages to an incredible five dollars a day. In liberal
ideology, the sins of Fordist mass production against the human spirit are more than atoned for by
this rise in material prosperity of the masses that is its corollary within industrial capitalism.

played key parts in the fight to lead blacks from their lack of power and equality for themselves.
Having the struggles to deal with within slavery and segregated times, blacks wanted to band
together. King was vital in the making of acts during those times, such as the Civil Rights Act of
1964 ( Martin Luther King Jr. 2). This act was what outlawed most of the discrimination for
colored people. Douglass had his own contributions, but they were in some cases not as major as
the things King put forward to gain equality for blacks. As time went on the two began earning
their unparalleled oratory skills. With the power of just their voices and hands they were
granted with so much more notoriety. Both of them have similar oratory styles. They both had
the amazing ability to move their audience to action (Renfro 1). They were also publishers and
produced many great pieces of work. Douglass published three versions of his autobiography during
his lifetime, revising and expanding on his work each time. My Bondage and My Freedom
appeared in 1855. In 1881, Douglass published Life and Times of Frederick Douglass, which he

Entrepreneur Characteristics
Are You Cut Out to Be a Successful Entrepreneur?
ABSTRACT
First, there was an interview with a successful entrepreneur. Second, there was a talk on
entrepreneurship by a guest speaker, Mr. Azmi Ahmad (the CEO of Skali.com) and later, an
elevator speech by fellow students on various issues related to entrepreneurship. This collective
information and some reading on entrepreneurship journals, books and articles have brought to the
idea on writing this paper, towards certain perspective, on successful entrepreneurial characteristics.
This paper examines the myths associated with what it takes to be an entrepreneur, the profiles and
the common characteristics among these successful entrepreneurs. INTRODUCTION

iii.Sense of Urgency
Entrepreneurs have a never ending sense of urgency to develop their ideas. Inactivity makes them
impatient, tense, and uneasy. They have drive and high energy levels, they are achievement
oriented, and they are tireless in the pursuit of their goals. iv. Comprehensive Awareness
Successful entrepreneurs can comprehend complex situations that may include planning, making
strategic decisions, and working on multiple business ideas simultaneously. They are farsighted and
aware of important details, and they will continuously review all possibilities to achieve their
business objectives.
v.Realism
Entrepreneurs say what they mean and assume that everyone else does too. They tend to be too
trusting and may not be sufficiently suspicious in their business dealings with other people.
vi.Conceptual Ability
Entrepreneurs possess the ability to identify relationships quickly in the midst of complex
situations. They identify problems and begin working on their solution faster than other people. vii.
Status Requirements
Entrepreneurs find satisfaction in symbols of success that are external to themselves. Successful
entrepreneurs find their satisfaction of status needs in the performance of their business, not in the
appearance they present to their peers and to the public. viii. Interpersonal Relationships
Entrepreneurs are more concerned with people s accomplishments than with their feelings.

Challenges of Genre for EFL Teachers
Challenges of Genre for EFL teachers
In teaching English as Foreign Language (EFL), teachers face a number of challenges when the
pedagogy is changed to EFL method. One of the questions is how can teachers know what genre
the students need to learn? This is because based on researches, genre are dependent on the
discourse community. Therefore, how to explain which genre to teach by school teacher to the
students? So, this has become a problem/challenge for EFL teachers to teach genre as researchers
from New Rhetoric Studies argue that genre cannot be taught. They point out that genres are so
changeable and so context dependent that it makes no sense to teach them outside of that particular
context. (Millar, 2011)
Moreover, a basic set of general school genre has been introduced to counter that teaching genre is
as important as other subject matter to the students where they can apply it in many ways.
According to (Hyland, 2003) narration, recounting, argumentation, report and description are
included in these school of genre. In this approach the claim is that if students can control and
produce a few decontextualized genres such as exposition , discussion , and historical recount ,
they can produce texts in the genres of a culture (Johns, 2008) Despite that, this type of approach
may not teach students enough about how to employ and adapt these patterns to different contexts.
More longitudinal studies will be needed to see if learning this core set of text patterns

The Effect Of Enzymes On Enzyme And Substrate
Introduction:
Enzymes defined as biological catalysts that speed the chemical reaction by reducing the
activation energy (Biology Department, 2014). Enzymes play an important biological role in the
cell, as it is important to keep the cell alive by speed up the reaction, which explains why in
absence of enzyme some reactions need long time (Richard Mark, 2001). Also, enzymes regulate
organism intercellular function for example enzymes help to keep human body healthy by defend it
from infection, regulate blood sugar, and maintenance weight (Reece et al., 2014). Reaction rate
can be affected by pH, temperature, and concentration of enzyme and substrate (Biology
Department, 2014). If pH levels are not in the enzyme normal range the active site of the enzymes
will change its shape so the enzyme will not be able to combine with the substrates, which will
prohibit the converting of the substrate to product (Reece et al., 2014). Temperature effect the
molecules movement for enzyme and substrate in the solution so if the temperature increase the
molecules movement will increase and this will increase the rate of reaction until the point that the
energy became so high this will prohibit substrate from binding due to the fact that the active site of
the enzyme were altered (Biology Department, 2014). If enzymes concentration increase the amount
of product per unit time will increase too, while the total amount of product will not change
(Richard Mark, 2001). It is important

As I grow in my Christianity He blesses me with Spiritual Discernment, thus convicting me of my

There is no place for sin when person is at Gods feet. In order to be at His feet, sin must be

Nontestimonial Hearsay Case Study
Q. What factors from Davis suggest that the evidence would be excluded by the Confrontation
Clause? Hearsay Hearsay is a statement, other than the one made by the declarant testifying in the
court, offered in evidence to prove the truth of the matter asserted. Confrontation Clause Under the
Sixth Amendment, Confrontation Clause provides that in all criminal prosecutions, the accused
shall enjoy the right to be confronted with the witnesses against him. Here, we must first determine
if the dialog during the 911 call in question establishes a testimonial or nontestimonial hearsay.
Nontestimonial hearsay will be subject to the FRE and falls outside of the scope of the
Confrontational Clause protection. Therefore, the provision of the Confrontation Clause would be
inapplicable. Testimonial Statement Statements are testimonial when the circumstances indicate

The Divine Comedy By Virgil And Dante
Relationships come in many forms with varying troubles and blessings. In the book, The Divine
Comedy, two of the main characters, Virgil and Dante, can have a seemingly simple relationship,
but when closely examined and reflected on, it is actually quite complex. They venture through the
depths of hell, the complications of a long journey, and the perplexing reality of purgatory.
Throughout their relationship they are faced with different gains and trials that they react to in
various ways. Their circumstances are always changing and the course is rough, but throughout the
entirety of their venture together, there remains one constant element, and that is the love they
share in their relationship. It is outwardly expressed through their actions and words throughout the
entirety of the book.
The question I came across in reading The Divine Comedy is:
Why does Dante use different terms to address Virgil? What do they mean or what is their
significance? How does the development of their relationship affect the story as a whole?
The most common name used by Dante is My guide , which is the most logical name he would
use to call Virgil. This is because Virgil is leading Dante through all these different journeys,
taking every step right by his side. Virgil has an understanding of Dante s uncertainty, and takes
him under his wing. He was chosen for Dante to guide him and that is why Dante uses the
possessive my to refer to him because Virgil was specifically provided

The Problem with Immgration to the United States Essay
The Problem with Immgration to the United States
The first move stopping immigration decided by Congress was a law in 1862 restricting American
vessels to transport Chinese immigrants to the U.S. The Alien Contract Labor Laws of 1885, 1887,
1888, and 1891 restricted the immigration to the U.S. of people entering the country to work under
contracts made before their arrival. Alien skilled laborers, under these laws, were allowed to enter
the U.S. to work in new industries. By this time anti immigrant felling rose with the flood of
immigrants and in this period the anti Catholic, anti foreign political party the Know Nothings, was
already born. The problems and issues are still much the same today, as they were 150 years ago, but

If the businesses can produce products and services at a low price keeping there overhead low,
then we as a consumer will also pay a lower price. Most illegals are skilled workers and helps run
the economy. Other countries economies are also being helped. The workers bring money to
their families out side of the U.S. which in most cases the U.S. dollar has a higher value than
their own. Most people disagree saying the cons of this issue out way the pros. Here are some of
the cons to this hideous problem. Illegal immigrants pay no tax. If they pay no taxes then how
can we as a country pay for public services we as well as they do. Sending money out of our
economy and sending it to their families abroad. If money is taken out of our economy it causes
a monetary problem. this can cause an inaccurate account of money in circulation, which might
cause inflation. Lower wages; if an illegal is willing to work for under the minimum wage then
the employer will not pay more for the job to any other employ. In fact might higher only illegals
and take away jobs form legal residents who are willing to work. When illegals come to this
country they do not get tested for diseases that might infect the population. Which can cause a

Judging People Research Paper
We live in a society that is solely focused on appearance and how we look to others. Look at the
people around you and what is the first thing you notice? You might see their hair color, skin
tone, and their clothing. Though while you are doing that you could be making silent
observations. Why do we do that? People say away from the people who look dangerous and
people will like the people who are attractive. Though when it comes to judging appearance it s
something that is a part of our lives. Is it good? Is it bad? When humans judge one another it comes
from an evolutionary adaptation, however in modern times with a structured society it is not
acceptable to do so.

Our mind should avoid the impulse of determining the causes of events until a wide range of
evidence is gathered and assessed from many different sources and traditions. (Torres, Raymond.
Why Judging by Appearance Can Be Harmful. The Huffington Post. TheHuffingtonPost.com, n.d.
Web. 14 Jan. 2017.) We are quick to make judgements on people s lives completely based on how
we see them at that particular moment. One can make the assumption that you are lazy if you
come into work late or not properly dressed. Though they don t know the true story, you could be
having an off day or something is currently happening in your life. Humans are so focused on
being right on our observations that when we told something other than what we think we refuse
to believe it. Raymond Torrs states that, It s hard to understand the nature of other people or the
natural world, if all we really care to know is any and everything that comes out of our own mind.
This attitude constrains our ability to find out more about any issue. We assume that just because
we call something for what it is or what we think it is, that there isn t a composite of underlying
and interactive factors responsible for our observations. (Torres, Raymond. Why Judging by
Appearance Can Be Harmful. The Huffington Post. TheHuffingtonPost.com, n.d. Web. 14 Jan.
2017.) We shouldn t make simple judgements on people by external appearance because it is
superficial and often unfair. After all, you don t know what circumstances the person might be
facing or who the person really is. Perhaps the person comes from a less fortunate family than you
and cannot afford the kind of stylish clothes your friends wear. However, that does not mean the
person is less intelligent or interesting than you are. People have the lack of discernment which

Picasso s Influence On A Rookie Baseball Player
There are very few things that appreciate with time. Many people love to bank on a rookie

many high income people love to invest in. Pablo Picassos art is some of the most if not the most
prominent, pieces of artwork in the world. Picasso was a trendsetter of sorts, helping start many
movements including introducing the idea of a collagein his later paintings. Picasso had a habit of
drawing his lovers in his paintings. For some of his mistresses, he created lots of art with them as
the main subjects of the paintings, as those were the stronger influences. Many of his paintings
were centered around one of his mistresses, Marie Therese Walter. Picasso met the 17 year old
Walter while he was married to his wife, Olga Khokhlova. Throughout their relationship, which
spanned nine years, she was the centerpiece of his work. Depending on the depiction of the
subject, Picasso showed his emotion toward Walter. The painting, Seated Woman of Walter by
Picasso portrays a unique style, a powerful use of colors, and a different view of Walter in
comparison to paintings of his other mistresses.
One of the unique parts of the Seated Woman painting is the style that is presented by Picasso.

Using The Personal Task Management Software On Computers...
1.Background Rationale
In contemporary society, many people are overwhelmed by the number of tasks that need to be
accomplished [1], this tasks are of different types, ranging from daily based such as meetings at
work, and non daily based buying groceries after work. To help ourselves to remember these tasks,
basic practices are to take notes on the paper based day planners or post it and to use the personal
task management software on computers and/or smartphones. As smartphones are used as an
alternatives to personal computers, taking notes on smartphones is getting more and more popular

Similar to programs on a personal computer, applications can downloaded and installed on a

prominent ones being Apples iOS, Googles Android, Symbian from Symbian foundation, RIM

Action Potential Research Paper
An action potential is the rapid depolarisation of the membrane potential to +40mV from its resting
potential of 70mV. The resting potential of a neuron is the difference in electrical voltage between
the inside and outside of the neuron s membrane.
An action potential is a short electrical impulse generated at the axon hillock which travels the
length of an axon. Its generation happens in three distinct stages, depolarisation, repolarisation and
hyperpolarisation. When the threshold of excitation is reached, depolarisation starts, the threshold
is between 55mV and 65mV in most neurons. When the neuron is stimulated voltage activated
Sodium (Na+) channels open, allowing Na+ ions to rush into the neuron. This reverses the polarity
in the neuron towards its peak of +40mV. At this peak Na+ channels... Show more content on

In this stage, there are too many K+ ions outside the axon, causing the membrane potential to be too
low. The resting membrane potential is returned to 70mV after these ions diffuse.
The propagation of an action potential describes the movement of an action potential along an axon.
This is done through the regeneration of the action potential at different points as Na+ ions move
along the axon. The propagation of an action potential along a myelinated axon is quicker than in
unmyelinated axons. This is due to Saltatory conduction; where an action potential moves from one
node of Ranvier to another, along an axon. Saltatory conduction allows for faster and more efficient
propagation.
Two laws govern the generation and propagation of an action potential, the All or None Law and
the Rate Law. The All or None Law states that if an action potential occurs it will continue to the
terminal buttons without interruption. The Rate Law, however, describes how the different rates of
an action potential represent different stimulus

Rethinking Normal is a symbol of transitioning and accepting your true self as normal despite
contradictions from peers, doctors, parents and society. It encompasses the struggles of
transgenders and any person who isn t conventional in rediscovering their true selves. Rethinking
Normal is the perfect way to describe the author s development of redefining and recreating
herself despite the pressure of others to be normal, as well as Katie s personal struggle in finding
her true self while discovering that normalcy should be based on how people feel about
themselves rather than how others perceptions. The most important thing is she made me feel
normal, made me feel that despite being trans, I was just like everybody else. pg 125... Show more

This book explores the reader to rethink their opinions on social and physical normality. The title
suggests that normality shouldn t be defined so critically and that those of diversity and
marginalization should be included. In this instance, the focus is upon the normalcy of those who
are transgender. One image of us that went viral showed us standing in our bathing suits with the
caption: Does this couple look normal? Because they are. The intention of the caption may have
been good, but what did it even mean by normal? That we passed as cisgender? Were
heterosexual?? White? Able bodied? Attractive? If one of us hadn t been any of those things,
would they still have called us normal? pg

The Gap Between Energy Consumption And Energy Generation
CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND Background
The gap between energy consumption and energy generation is gradually increasing and has
become a significant problem for both domestic and industrial applications. Furthermore,
conventional energy sources, like fossil fuels, are not fulfilling the energy needs of the developing
world. And, although they are still major energy sources for both the industrial and domestic
sectors of the world s economy, they are also responsible for many problem, such as environmental
pollution and climate change. Alternative energy sources are essential for, and the best solution to,
both decreasing the use of fossil fuels and fulfilling energy demands more healthily and cleanly. The
major problem with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The electrical energy method stores electrical energy with the use of batteries. This method is
generally considered the best, most prevalent technique when compared to others. The thermal
energy storage (TES) method, on the other hand, stores energy by changing the internal energy of
materials. There are three types of thermal energy storage; viz., sensible heat, latent heat, and
thermochemical energy storage. These are illustrated in Figure 1 below [1].
Latent heat thermal energy storage (LHTES) is a particularly appealing method due to its having a
high energy storage capacity, with it storing 5 to 14 times more heat per unit volume when
compared to the conventional sensible heat storage method. The latent heat storage method is a
system based on the charging and discharging of heat once a given storage material subject changes
phases from liquid to solid or from liquid to gas. Additionally, the latent heat storage system stores
energy at a constant, or near constant, temperature during the process of changing phases which, in
turn, depends on the characteristic structure of the phase change materials (PCMs).
Figure 1. Different types of thermal energy storage methods [2]
The Motivation of this Study
For three decades, many techniques have been used for the purpose of storing latent heat thermal
energy by applying different phase change materials. PCMs. are also known as latent heat storage
materials.

Google s Strategy For My Personal Leadership Style
In the article Google Grows on People: Bottom up Leadership and Minimalist Management Inspire
Innovation the author looks at the latest developments in management across the globe to find the
most practical implications (Elsevier, 2013). Looking at the success and rapid growth Google has
exspirenced they cen see how they have changed how buisness managementshould be handled.
Researchers asked Google directly to find what their secret was and interviewed twenty eight
employees in various Google sites across the globe. They asked what the key factors were into
making google the inovative empire that it is. The results showed that most people who were
interviewed saw individuals by their talents and diversity (Elsevier, 2013). Leaders where to set
the vision and direction for their teams and make the teams role clear (Elsevier, 2013). By creating
a culture, seeing individuals and building great leadership, Google has been able to build an
environment of flexibility and freedom (Elsevier, 2013). Taking Google into concideration for
my personal leadership style can seem a bit dauhnting at first, but once it is broken down to
seeing the individuals and creating room for growth and innovation it can put it into a better
perspective. Within the teaching setting I can take care to make sure I see all of my students for
who they are as individuals and how God designed them uniquely. Focusing on the individual can

The Outsider
The Outsider Albert Camus
Albert Camus presents ideas of identity and the human condition in his classic novel The Outsider,
through his exploration of gender and cultural representations as well as an insight into absurdum
and existentialism. These concepts of identity and the human condition reflect on the society in
which the novella has been set, demonstrating how women, those of other cultures and those who
are considered to be different are represented. The novella tells a recollection of events of a young
man named Meursault, emotionally detached from a society where he refuses to conform to
society s conventions and in turn a refusal to play the game . The novella begins with the death of
Meursault s mother and ends with his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The culture references in the novella show how culture is represented in society. Those in control
leave the culture that is not in control isolated and divided.
Death plays a major role in the novella The Outsider. The story both begins and concludes with a
death, creating the idea that death is all a part of the human condition; we all die in the end, which
reveals Camus own ideologies of absurdism. Death is explored through the structure of the
novella, through the parallels between the death of Meursault s mother in the beginning and the
lead up to his execution in the end. When Meursault s, he shows what most would consider an
unusual reaction to the death of a love one and accepts it. He shows little emotion to the subject
and demonstrates his understanding of death, it is part of our human condition and he has no
control over it. It s not my fault (page 9). Majority of this absurdist content is addressed as
Meursault awaits his execution in his prison cell. Whilst sitting there one evening, his thoughts
wonder to the memory of Marie, as he tried to reason why she hadn t written to him. It crossed
his mind that she may be ill or dead, and again like with his mother, feels no emotion towards the
possible death of his girlfriend. It was the natural order of things... I wasn t interested in her
anymore if she was dead (page 110). Meursault sees life as

The Military Forces Who Delivered Exemplary Performance
(Challenge Coins)
Custom coins were primarily used to reward members of the military forces who delivered
exemplary performance. This small coin features the organization s distinctive logo. Members carry
it as a proof of their membership.
The use of Challenge coins started during the World War I where all members of the United States
Navy Force, the Flying Squadron received bronze coins. History shows that one of their pilots
successfully escapes captivity from the German troops. He fled to France, where they accused him
of being a spy and sentenced him to death. The French forces were able to verify his identity
through his bronze coin and saved him from the execution.
Thereafter, the members of the armed forces created the medallion challenge. If a member cannot
present his coin, he needs to pay a drink for the challenger.
Nowadays, custom coins still serve as a symbol of camaraderie and solidarity among unit members.
Its popularity extends to various organizations such as the fire department, police units, school
clubs, weddings and many others. Customized coins feature unique elements distinct to the
organization.
Challenge coins are special coins containing inscription of the name and emblem of the
organization. People with significant accomplishments acquire special coins as a form of
recognition.
For the military forces, custom coins are prized possessions. Fellow soldiers ensure that they take
home the military coins of killed or wounded members. It is a great

Teenage Cosmetic Surgery
TEENAGE COSMETIC SURGERY
How young should some one be before they are ready to have cosmetic surgery? According to
the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reports the number of girls eight teen and
younger getting cosmetic surgeries, such as breast augmentations has nearly tripled from 3,872
in the year of 2002 to 11,326 in the year of 2003 ( Farrell 1 ). The increasing number of teenage
girls under twenty having cosmetic surgeries should be aware of the risks, know that their bodies
aren t ready to go under such procedures and that they should not allow the media or low self
esteem influence their decisions.
One cause for teens participating in cosmetic surgery is because the media portrays an unreality
view of beauty. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many teens idolize a celebrity, which is normal, but wanting to be or look like one is a different
subject. Some teens bring in a picture of a celebrity and allow the doctor to show them how they
may be able to have features more like the celebrity. Many cosmetic surgeons discourage anyone
wanting to look exactly like anyone else. This is unrealistic and may indicate a more serious
problem like Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD). BDD is the inability of an individual to see
how they appear. (Palmer). People who have BDD tend to have a distorted view of themselves
meaning they don t see themselves the ways other people do. These teens believe that cosmetic
surgery will solve their physically problems, but looking like some else doesn t help them figure
out who they are.
Brown 5
One of the concerns about plastic surgery on adolescents is that their bodies are still maturing. In
addition to development that may occur in the late teens, growth charts indicate that the average
girl gains weight between the ages of 18 and 21, that is likely to change her desire or need for
breast augmentations as well as liposuction. (Zuckerman
1). A teenager s body may not be fully developed until they reach 18 or maybe even 21. With that
said some cosmetic surgeries, not all but most, can interfere with the body s natural growth. No
matter how much a teenager may want breast augmentations, liposuction, or cheek

  • 2. The Theme Of Identity In John Knowles A Separate Peace John Knowles wrote A Separate Peace in 1959, introducing readers to a new perspective to World War II in a harrowing and luminous way. He places the two main characters, Gene Forrester, and his friend, Phineas at an all boys academy called Devon at the time of World War II, introducing themes of identity, warfare, and friendship. Knowles sets the theme of identity before Gene pushes Phineas off the tree by introducing the personalities of both Gene and Phineas. Phineas is, the best athlete in school (John Knowles20) with an average build and height of 5 81/2, good looking, charismatic, and perfect in almost any way (Knowles 21) while Gene is, thoughtful and intelligent (Knowles 32). • 3. Kant s Principles Of The Metaphysics Of Morals An Analysis of a Few Elements in Immanuel Kant s Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Morals Immanuel Kant offered a reorientation on how the established questions of metaphysics can be resolved. He claimed that man s mind constructs human experience and that reality must agree with the mind s notions, in contradiction of the view that the mind is a reflection of reality. His interpretation was that the mind is capable of actively creating experiences instead of passively being shaped by reality. Kant further believed that man possesses an objective knowledge of the universe. A priori laws were the basis of this knowledge; but, questioned its possibility. His assertions specified that the subject provides the laws that create the experiences of objects and that these laws were a priori laws that man holds about all objects prior to man s experiences about them. To understand these laws, Kant investigated man s experiences, specifying those which are given by the mind apart from those which were provided by instincts. He further argued that morality is derived from reason and this reason is the origin of man s morality, which he referred to as the Categorical Imperative. According to Kant, if this categorical imperative is defied, man becomes irrational and immoral. His logic consisted of inducing from people s daily sensible knowledge of morality, which he referred to as practical reason, into metaphysical understanding. As Kant attempted to reorient an ... An incensed Thor went to Loki and asked why he pulled out her hair. Thor threatened Loki until eventually, he told Thor that the dwarfs were capable of making anything, including a head of hair for Sif. Lokitraveled to Svartalfheim, the land of the dwarfs. He decided to find the three dwarfs known as the sons of Ivaldi who were remarkable craftsmen. To trick the brothers into making Sif s hair, he set up a competition between the sons of Ivaldi and Brokk and Eitri, who were also talented dwarfish artisans. Loki challenged them to make three treasures for the gods, including a golden head of hair. Brokk was suspicious. He would only agree if they receive Loki s head as a prize for winning the competition. Loki had to ensure the Ivaldi brothers won the competition. Loki went to Eitri and Brokk s forge where Loki hears Eitri remind Brokk that he must steadily pump the bellows or the creations would be ruined. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lastly, Brokk revealed Mjolnir, Thors hammer which never missed its target, always returned to Thor and could change size, but Loki s interference caused the handle to be too short. The gods said that Mjolnir was the finest gift despite the error because it would protect Asgard. The gods chose Brokk and Eitri as the victors. • 5. The Importance Of Single Parenting For my reading pleasure, I was able to read Help! I am Raising My Children Alone by T. D. Jakes concerning single parenting (Jakes, 2011). This book was written as a practical guide with the intentions to help single parents overcome the obstacles of single parenting and discover the hidden treasure that lies beneath the struggle. T. D. Jakes is a bishop, therefore there is a copious amount of faith and biblical scripture woven into his writing, however he does maintain practicality as well. Jakes (2011) encourage single parents to not give up, despite their circumstance. He also equips the single parents with thought provoking questions at the end of each chapter for reflecting, and activities to do with their families that will be beneficial to the growth and stability of each family. I would like to begin with a quote. Jakes (2011) states I raise my bow. Even if I am shot, I will raise my bow. I will lift it above my past, my pain, and my fears (p. 200). These arrows; my children, are my defense. I believe that this is a powerful statement to abide by to counteract the negative stigma that often comes with single parenting. Many single parents+ usually see their mistakes and feel guilty, struggle with past hurts, and may feel at a loss when it comes to raising their kids. However, Jakes encourages single parents to aim their bow high so that their children may soar. Single parents seeing their children soar to become great people in society gives purpose and meaning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is a Middle Eastern conservative country with age old traditions and belief systems that are derived from the Arab culture. The country has a prevailing monarchy that is rich in Arab and Islamic heritage and a characteristic homogeneity in culture (Anon, n.d). It occupies most of the Arabian Peninsula and it shares boundaries with Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Yemen and the Red Sea (Wikipedia). The slow paced introduction of westernization into the culture reveals how the society is resistant to change, the thought of which places undue anxiety and stress on the members of its community. The attachment to family ties is a manifestation of its collectivistic approach in the culture of the Saudis. The social identity is derived from a group membership he/she shares. Loyalty to one s family members supersedes that of the individual; family involvement in personal life is usually not seen as being invasive or interfering (Anon, 2008). Hofstede scores the Saudis as having about 40 on the individualistic dimension (Mead and Andrews, 2009). Since this dimension expresses independence, a low score would mean a higher tendency towards collectivism. Even though the culture of the Saudis emphasizes hierarchy and autocracy, their mode of conflict resolution is compromise. The Saudi Arabians believe in relationship building and on solidarity (Anon, 2008), and thus characteristic of the feministic cultures. • 10. The Rational Choice Theory Of Cesare Beccaria The topic I have chosen to write this research paper over is the rational choice theory. The rational choice theory started with the work of Cesare Beccaria in the late eighteenth century. From that point forward, the theory has been developed and opened up to incorporate different viewpoints, like discouragement and routine activity theory. The rational choice theoryis a monetary rule that expresses that people dependably settle on reasonable and legitimate choices. These choices furnish individuals with the best advantage or fulfillment, given the decisions accessible and are likewise in their most elevated self interest. Rational choice theory accepts that all individuals attempt to effectively expand their preference in any circumstance and in this way reliably attempt to minimize their misfortunes. The hypothesis depends on the possibility that all people construct their choices in light of sound figuring s, act with discernment when picking, and intend to increment either delight or benefit. Rational choice theory likewise stipulates that all unpredictable social wonders are driven by individual human activities. Accordingly, if a business analyst needs to clarify social change or the activities of social organizations, he needs to take a look at the balanced choices of the people that make up the entirety. There are so many options and directions I could go to solve this problem. I have chosen to solve my issue by going back through each month to ensure that all the amounts balance out. I understand this will take a great deal of time, but it is crucial to find where I made a mistake. First, I will make sure that all of the amounts are placed in the correct category. For example, I want to ensure that money used for rent is credited from cash in bank and debited in rent expense. This therefore is a member based definition of gang crime. Another but more restrictive definition is that a gang crime is committed if and when such occurs as part of the function of a gang or for the benefit of the gang and therefore is strictly gang motivated. Templeton says, it is argued, never meant to write a play about the highly topical subject of women s rights; (28). When researching A Doll House, Templeton realized that numerous critics made Ibsen s play into a promotion for propaganda feminists (28). Feminists believed that A Doll House was created to speak on the struggle and rights of women. Joan Templeton s argument about feminism is convincing because she supports Ibsen s intentions as being a person that just speaks the truth about humans let alone, not just female society. Introduction The immediate aim of this study is to examine whether participants perception of primed facial expressions is influenced more by the emotions elicited from music, or words played during the rating of the faces. This experiment will also aim to study how participants empathy and state trait levels will change the way that the music/words effects their rating of primed neutral faces. The time that the participants take to rate each face will also be measured as a reaction time to see if the mood induced by the music will have any effect on the time it takes to assess each face. If this study can dissociate the effects of music and semantics on the rating of faces then we can conclude that we use separate mechanisms in the generating of emotionality. Studying the difference in the effects of semantics vs music on emotions will allow us to determine which medium has a large effect over ones emotions, and just how significant this difference is. It is widely accepted in the scientific community that music can influence our emotions, this is the reason that films are heavily reliant on the score to help influence the viewers emotions in order to make the film a more engaging, emotional experience. His idea not only helped to revolutionize and industrialize America, but it also established the foundation of a social and economic infrastructure that exists today. David Gartman defines this beginning as Fordism : Henry Ford s revolutionary mass production processes for manufacturing automobiles stands as an almost universal symbol for modern industrial capitalism. Both its hitherto unimagined material productivity and its similarly unprecedented impoverishment of the human spirit are simultaneously captured by the contradictory image of the automobile assembly line. Along such lines and in other mechanized processes pioneered by Ford, degraded and dehumanized workers toil to produce the very products that enrich their leisure lives. The incredible productivity of Fordist mass production makes possible, perhaps even necessary, mass consumption. Historians remind us that not only did Henry Ford innovate production methods that steadily lowered the price of a complex, mechanical consumer good, but he also pioneered the transformation of the toiling masses into consumers by raising his workers wages to an incredible five dollars a day. Challenges of Genre for EFL Teachers Challenges of Genre for EFL teachers In teaching English as Foreign Language (EFL), teachers face a number of challenges when the pedagogy is changed to EFL method. One of the questions is how can teachers know what genre the students need to learn? This is because based on researches, genre are dependent on the discourse community. Therefore, how to explain which genre to teach by school teacher to the students? So, this has become a problem/challenge for EFL teachers to teach genre as researchers from New Rhetoric Studies argue that genre cannot be taught. They point out that genres are so changeable and so context dependent that it makes no sense to teach them outside of that particular context. (Millar, 2011) Moreover, a basic set of general school genre has been introduced to counter that teaching genre is as important as other subject matter to the students where they can apply it in many ways. According to (Hyland, 2003) narration, recounting, argumentation, report and description are included in these school of genre. In this approach the claim is that if students can control and produce a few decontextualized genres such as exposition , discussion , and historical recount , they can produce texts in the genres of a culture (Johns, 2008) Despite that, this type of approach may not teach students enough about how to employ and adapt these patterns to different contexts. • 26. The Effect Of Enzymes On Enzyme And Substrate Introduction: Enzymes defined as biological catalysts that speed the chemical reaction by reducing the activation energy (Biology Department, 2014). Enzymes play an important biological role in the cell, as it is important to keep the cell alive by speed up the reaction, which explains why in absence of enzyme some reactions need long time (Richard Mark, 2001). Also, enzymes regulate organism intercellular function for example enzymes help to keep human body healthy by defend it from infection, regulate blood sugar, and maintenance weight (Reece et al., 2014). Reaction rate can be affected by pH, temperature, and concentration of enzyme and substrate (Biology Department, 2014). If pH levels are not in the enzyme normal range the active site of the enzymes will change its shape so the enzyme will not be able to combine with the substrates, which will prohibit the converting of the substrate to product (Reece et al., 2014). Temperature effect the molecules movement for enzyme and substrate in the solution so if the temperature increase the molecules movement will increase and this will increase the rate of reaction until the point that the energy became so high this will prohibit substrate from binding due to the fact that the active site of the enzyme were altered (Biology Department, 2014). If enzymes concentration increase the amount of product per unit time will increase too, while the total amount of product will not change (Richard Mark, 2001). It is important ... Throughout their relationship they are faced with different gains and trials that they react to in various ways. Their circumstances are always changing and the course is rough, but throughout the entirety of their venture together, there remains one constant element, and that is the love they share in their relationship. It is outwardly expressed through their actions and words throughout the entirety of the book. The question I came across in reading The Divine Comedy is: Why does Dante use different terms to address Virgil? What do they mean or what is their significance? How does the development of their relationship affect the story as a whole? The most common name used by Dante is My guide , which is the most logical name he would use to call Virgil. This is because Virgil is leading Dante through all these different journeys, taking every step right by his side. Virgil has an understanding of Dante s uncertainty, and takes him under his wing. When the neuron is stimulated voltage activated Sodium (Na+) channels open, allowing Na+ ions to rush into the neuron. This reverses the polarity in the neuron towards its peak of +40mV. At this peak Na+ channels... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this stage, there are too many K+ ions outside the axon, causing the membrane potential to be too low. The resting membrane potential is returned to 70mV after these ions diffuse. The propagation of an action potential describes the movement of an action potential along an axon. This is done through the regeneration of the action potential at different points as Na+ ions move along the axon. The propagation of an action potential along a myelinated axon is quicker than in unmyelinated axons. This is due to Saltatory conduction; where an action potential moves from one node of Ranvier to another, along an axon. Saltatory conduction allows for faster and more efficient propagation. Two laws govern the generation and propagation of an action potential, the All or None Law and the Rate Law. The All or None Law states that if an action potential occurs it will continue to the terminal buttons without interruption. The Rate Law, however, describes how the different rates of an action potential represent different stimulus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Rethinking Normal By Katie Rain Hill Rethinking Normal is a coming of age story about transcending physical appearances and redefining the parameters of normalcy to embody one s true self. Katie Rain Hill memoir on her transition discussed what normal is and how she came to understand that normalcy was completely based on what each person individually makes of it. The title of this book is the perfect description of Katie s struggle in accepting herself despite the opinions of others. Rethinking Normal is a symbol of transitioning and accepting your true self as normal despite contradictions from peers, doctors, parents and society. It encompasses the struggles of transgenders and any person who isn t conventional in rediscovering their true selves. Rethinking Normal is the perfect way to describe the author s development of redefining and recreating herself despite the pressure of others to be normal, as well as Katie s personal struggle in finding her true self while discovering that normalcy should be based on how people feel about themselves rather than how others perceptions. The most important thing is she made me feel normal, made me feel that despite being trans, I was just like everybody else. pg 125... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This book explores the reader to rethink their opinions on social and physical normality. The title suggests that normality shouldn t be defined so critically and that those of diversity and marginalization should be included. In this instance, the focus is upon the normalcy of those who are transgender. One image of us that went viral showed us standing in our bathing suits with the caption: Does this couple look normal? Because they are. The intention of the caption may have been good, but what did it even mean by normal? That we passed as cisgender? Were heterosexual?? White? Able bodied? Attractive? If one of us hadn t been any of those things, would they still have called us normal? pg ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Gap Between Energy Consumption And Energy Generation CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND Background The gap between energy consumption and energy generation is gradually increasing and has become a significant problem for both domestic and industrial applications. Furthermore, conventional energy sources, like fossil fuels, are not fulfilling the energy needs of the developing world. And, although they are still major energy sources for both the industrial and domestic sectors of the world s economy, they are also responsible for many problem, such as environmental pollution and climate change. Alternative energy sources are essential for, and the best solution to, both decreasing the use of fossil fuels and fulfilling energy demands more healthily and cleanly. The major problem with ... This method is generally considered the best, most prevalent technique when compared to others. The thermal energy storage (TES) method, on the other hand, stores energy by changing the internal energy of materials. There are three types of thermal energy storage; viz., sensible heat, latent heat, and thermochemical energy storage. These are illustrated in Figure 1 below [1]. Latent heat thermal energy storage (LHTES) is a particularly appealing method due to its having a high energy storage capacity, with it storing 5 to 14 times more heat per unit volume when compared to the conventional sensible heat storage method. The latent heat storage method is a system based on the charging and discharging of heat once a given storage material subject changes phases from liquid to solid or from liquid to gas. Additionally, the latent heat storage system stores energy at a constant, or near constant, temperature during the process of changing phases which, in turn, depends on the characteristic structure of the phase change materials (PCMs). Figure 1. Different types of thermal energy storage methods [2] The Motivation of this Study For three decades, many techniques have been used for the purpose of storing latent heat thermal energy by applying different phase change materials. Google s Strategy For My Personal Leadership Style In the article Google Grows on People: Bottom up Leadership and Minimalist Management Inspire Innovation the author looks at the latest developments in management across the globe to find the most practical implications (Elsevier, 2013). Looking at the success and rapid growth Google has exspirenced they cen see how they have changed how buisness managementshould be handled. Researchers asked Google directly to find what their secret was and interviewed twenty eight employees in various Google sites across the globe. They asked what the key factors were into making google the inovative empire that it is. The results showed that most people who were interviewed saw individuals by their talents and diversity (Elsevier, 2013). Leaders where to set the vision and direction for their teams and make the teams role clear (Elsevier, 2013). By creating a culture, seeing individuals and building great leadership, Google has been able to build an environment of flexibility and freedom (Elsevier, 2013). Taking Google into concideration for my personal leadership style can seem a bit dauhnting at first, but once it is broken down to seeing the individuals and creating room for growth and innovation it can put it into a better perspective. Within the teaching setting I can take care to make sure I see all of my students for who they are as individuals and how God designed them uniquely. • 46. The Outsider The Outsider Albert Camus Albert Camus presents ideas of identity and the human condition in his classic novel The Outsider, through his exploration of gender and cultural representations as well as an insight into absurdum and existentialism. These concepts of identity and the human condition reflect on the society in which the novella has been set, demonstrating how women, those of other cultures and those who are considered to be different are represented. The novella tells a recollection of events of a young man named Meursault, emotionally detached from a society where he refuses to conform to society s conventions and in turn a refusal to play the game . The novella begins with the death of Meursault s mother and ends with his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The culture references in the novella show how culture is represented in society. Those in control leave the culture that is not in control isolated and divided. Death plays a major role in the novella The Outsider. The story both begins and concludes with a death, creating the idea that death is all a part of the human condition; we all die in the end, which reveals Camus own ideologies of absurdism. Death is explored through the structure of the novella, through the parallels between the death of Meursault s mother in the beginning and the lead up to his execution in the end. When Meursault s, he shows what most would consider an unusual reaction to the death of a love one and accepts it. He shows little emotion to the subject and demonstrates his understanding of death, it is part of our human condition and he has no control over it. It s not my fault (page 9). Majority of this absurdist content is addressed as Meursault awaits his execution in his prison cell. Whilst sitting there one evening, his thoughts wonder to the memory of Marie, as he tried to reason why she hadn t written to him. It crossed his mind that she may be ill or dead, and again like with his mother, feels no emotion towards the possible death of his girlfriend. It was the natural order of things... • 47. The Military Forces Who Delivered Exemplary Performance (Challenge Coins) Custom coins were primarily used to reward members of the military forces who delivered exemplary performance. This small coin features the organization s distinctive logo. Members carry it as a proof of their membership. The use of Challenge coins started during the World War I where all members of the United States Navy Force, the Flying Squadron received bronze coins. History shows that one of their pilots successfully escapes captivity from the German troops. He fled to France, where they accused him of being a spy and sentenced him to death. The French forces were able to verify his identity through his bronze coin and saved him from the execution. Thereafter, the members of the armed forces created the medallion challenge. If a member cannot present his coin, he needs to pay a drink for the challenger. Nowadays, custom coins still serve as a symbol of camaraderie and solidarity among unit members. Its popularity extends to various organizations such as the fire department, police units, school clubs, weddings and many others. Customized coins feature unique elements distinct to the organization. Challenge coins are special coins containing inscription of the name and emblem of the organization. People with significant accomplishments acquire special coins as a form of recognition. For the military forces, custom coins are prized possessions. • 48. Teenage Cosmetic Surgery TEENAGE COSMETIC SURGERY How young should some one be before they are ready to have cosmetic surgery? According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reports the number of girls eight teen and younger getting cosmetic surgeries, such as breast augmentations has nearly tripled from 3,872 in the year of 2002 to 11,326 in the year of 2003 ( Farrell 1 ). The increasing number of teenage girls under twenty having cosmetic surgeries should be aware of the risks, know that their bodies aren t ready to go under such procedures and that they should not allow the media or low self esteem influence their decisions. One cause for teens participating in cosmetic surgery is because the media portrays an unreality view of beauty. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many teens idolize a celebrity, which is normal, but wanting to be or look like one is a different subject. Some teens bring in a picture of a celebrity and allow the doctor to show them how they may be able to have features more like the celebrity. Many cosmetic surgeons discourage anyone wanting to look exactly like anyone else. This is unrealistic and may indicate a more serious problem like Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD). BDD is the inability of an individual to see how they appear. (Palmer). People who have BDD tend to have a distorted view of themselves meaning they don t see themselves the ways other people do. These teens believe that cosmetic surgery will solve their physically problems, but looking like some else doesn t help them figure out who they are. Brown 5 One of the concerns about plastic surgery on adolescents is that their bodies are still maturing. In addition to development that may occur in the late teens, growth charts indicate that the average girl gains weight between the ages of 18 and 21, that is likely to change her desire or need for breast augmentations as well as liposuction. (Zuckerman 1). A teenager s body may not be fully developed until they reach 18 or maybe even 21. With that said some cosmetic surgeries, not all but most, can interfere with the body s natural growth. No matter how much a teenager may want breast augmentations, liposuction, or cheek ...
