2. Determinism in Nella Larsen’s Quicksand Essay
Determinism in Nella Larsen s Quicksand
During the Harlem Renaissance, many literary works concentrated on celebrating African American
heritage. However, many other writers also began concentrating on the darker theme of naturalism. Nella
Larsen s Quicksand illustrates many elements of this movement. These include a biological determinism,
where man is conceived of as controlled by his primitive animal instincts and a sociological determinism,
whereby the weak are destroyed and the strong survive in a world of struggle and chance. Helga Crane,
Larsen s protagonist in Quicksand, illustrates the elements of both biological and sociological determinism
in her inability to suppress her natural animal instinct to flee uncomfortable ... Show more content on

Clearly, Helga is internally struggling with her sexual desire for Dr. Anderson by disguising it with anger
towards him. However, instead of confronting these emotions, Helga again allows her natural instinct of
flight to take over in order to deal with the situation.
Helga also illustrates her inability to control the instinct of flight in Copenhagen. During her stay, she is
incited to make an impression and to inflame attention and admiration (74). Helga s desire to attract
attention is overshadowed by her internal struggle with her natural instincts. In Copenhagen she
instinctively...wanted to combat this searching into one thing which, here, surrounded by all other things
which for so long she has so positively wanted, made her a little afraid. Started vague premonitions (79).
Helga is searching for happiness but she intuitively knows from her premonitions that her search is futile
because of her inability to remain in a place that becomes uncomfortable.
By the time Helga s desire to leave Alabama is evident, it is clear that Helga s natural instinct to constantly
escape the reality of her life has become her downfall. This time, she has responsibility towards her children
who she wanted not to leave if that were possible (135). Perhaps, when she began to have her fifth child ,
Helga decides to stay in Alabama, thereby fighting the inner demons that have controlled her life (135).

1. Native Americans were people who lived in the Western Hemisphere thousands of years before the first
Europeans. Native Americans developed diverse cultures and had many different groups that ranged from
the Maya to the Aztecs to the Incas to the Hopis and to the Anasazi. In Central America the Aztecs had a
large powerful empire, while along the eastern coast of North America Indians lived in smaller tribes and
invested in both agriculture and hunting and gathering. They showed genuine respect for and adapted well
to their environment. This included the use of dry farming and irrigation. It was the male s job to deal with
warfare and hunting and the females job to nurture the children, plant and gather crops and to prepare the

4. Carol Dweck s Mindset
A wise person said, Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts. The
book, Mindset written by Carol Dweck, is about the growth mindset and the fixed mindset. Dweck analyzed
how these mindsets have an impact on a person s ability to succeed academically. The book is crucial
because it contains many brilliant ideas which, if individuals follow, will lead them to success. In her book,
there are three chapters that cover learning, effort, failure, ability, accomplishment, and sports talent. Carol
Dweck s text Mindset addresses the current concern regarding academic success, with which I agree. To

People with the growth mindset care more about learning and are eager to learn. Dweck did a study of brain
waves in the lab at Columbia. For example, Dweck explains that only people with a growth mindset paid
close attention to information that could stretch their knowledge (Dweck18). This shows that individuals
with a growth mindset are more passionate and motivated toward learning because they believe learning
will make them grow and succeed. Anyone can learn and change how smart they are. Dweck did research
for the students who entered the university and weren t fluent in English. Also, she measured their mindset.
Dweck told the students that they have a definite amount of intellect and they can t do much about it. For
instance, those who learn with a growth mindset agree that: You can always substantially change how
intelligent you are (Dweck 17). This indicates that students with a growth mindset firmly agree that an
individual can constantly change how clever said individual is. People with the growth mindset strongly
concur that success is about learning and gaining knowledge, so they don t want to miss an opportunity to
eliminate their language barrier. They have confidence that improving will expand their learning
capabilities. The growth mindset can motivate you to continue when you have a

I went to Keiki Hau oli Children s Center preschool room for my prosocial observation assignment. During
my visit, it was indoor free play time, meanwhile teachers were offering breakfast. The schedule is not rush,
they can play indoor and outdoor with free choices for one hour. First, the room was organized by the
section. Each section has double or multiple amount of toys for children to play with their friends. For
example, on a shelf, there are three baby dolls and their matching clothes. Children interact each other by
asking questions such as, Baby is hungry. What can I do? Another child said, I will show you. She used her
baby bottle to pretend feeding a baby. There is big open floor space in the back of the room for the children
to play freely. Children were playing with blocks and cars on that open floor. Some were playing with
Kapla on a low table with one caregiver. Other children were sitting at the carpet, listening a story. Children
play peacefully because there are variety of activity choices they can play. Two things if I am able to
change, I will change the floor arrangement and add more books. First, I will move free floor space from
back of the room to the middle close to the entrance because I can hear them well, so I could interact with
them more. I like ocean, nature, and Hawaiian culture area. They display nicely, but they are not create any

6. Should Child Soldiers Be Granted Amnesty Essay
Child soldiers should be granted amnesty. The reason child soldiers should be considered as victims are
because they are forced into labor, drugged, and threatened into service. Many of these child soldiers, after
being rescued and rehabilitated, are able to be adopted into loving families and lead normal lives. However,
those who are sent back to where they became child soldiers will surely commit those crimes again.
The first reason that child soldiers should be considered as victims are that they are drugged. In many cases,
after the child is taken away from their family, the warlords and their older soldiers will give the children
drugs such as cocaine, marijuana and narcotics to make them more obedient. In the case of a boy named

7. Essay about St. Catherine of Siena
St. Catherine of Siena
Catherine of Siena was born in Italy in 1347 at a time when political and religious changes were affecting
the hierarchy of the Catholic Church. Dedicating her life to the Holy Spirit from a very young age,
Catherine pursued a life of purity and simplicity that served as a background to her great literary work, The
Dialogue of the Divine Providence . Her work focuses on the importance of prayer and its transcendent
power in human life.
In the early stages of Catherine s life the surfacing modern age was bringing with it social turmoil which
spread throughout Europe (Giordani 3). During Catherine s lifetime, according to Mary Ann Sullivan in her

your most holy son, our one Lord Jesus Christ; and I promise Him and you that I will never choose myself

based on a story she once heard about a woman pretending to be a man and becoming a monk in order to

Raymond of Capua deduces in his book The Life of Saint Catherine of Siena that the marriage between
Catherine and Christ was granted by the Virgin Mary based on the mercy Mary bestows on everyone who
prays to her. He writes, Catherine turns to one who distributes her graces most generously who, being
unable to refuse even sinners, and never rejects anyone, who gives to wise and foolish alike...How can such

ART 101 My family and I recently visited the Orlando Museum of Art in Orlando, Florida. The museum

the gallery I was fascinated by one painting in particular. The piece was called Ante Meridian , oil on board,
c.a. 1935 by Frederick Judd Waugh (American 1861 1940). This representational painting was of a
presumably north eastern coast line where waves were battering the cliffs and rocks during a stormy day.

By his vertical placement of the cliff in the right forefront of the picture plane, he further emphasizes the
illusion of space. Second, the diminishing size of the sea, cliffs in the background, and the jetty all express
depth in the overall scene. The violent cove appears to move away from us in to the open sea. Ante
Meridian is an example of atmospheric perspective. The foreground colors are bold and rich, whether it is
the white wave caps or the cliff façade, but as the scene retreats in to the distance, the sea, background
rocks, and sky become bluer, paler, and less distinct. The objects in the distance are blurrier to demonstrate
this open space even more. The implied changes in the position of the thrashing waves give you the feeling
of motion. The overlapping relationship of the storm clouds to the apparent clear sky, as well as the curve of
the rain clouds all imply these dark storm clouds are moving out to the left. Waugh also gave a slight
glimmer of sunlight beating down on the rocks in the background to further illustrate the idea that the storm
is moving on and the sun is breaking through. This bit of sunlight is the only vibrant color in this paining.
The whole aspect of the sea is implied motion. I believe with every short, wide brush stroke used to paint
the surf, Waugh intended to imply motion. The very nature of water is movement but he went beyond what
we know and tried to convey not just motion but

writes about the East St. Louis Race Riot of 1917 that was a result of black workers replacing white
workers that were unionizing and protesting. DuBois expresses how the race institutions and
disfranchisement promote racial tensions that unilaterally destroy any sense of cultural unity in the Middle

guaranteed the same rights after the Civil War and that the disenfranchisement through local laws such as
those of Jim Crow would serve as a lesson to the nation. He states at the end of his piece about the riots that

17. Ordinary Men by Christopher Browning
The purpose of history is to understand the past so that we can take wisdom from those experiences and
improve the present and the future. The events that occurred during the Final Solution are so horrendous
that often it is viewed as so repugnant that we label the people involved as purely evil, they are
dehumanized. This is dangerous, as it doesn t allow us to obtain wisdom, perspective, and empathy for
those involved. Ordinary Men allows an opportunity to see these events from the eyes of the perpetrators
and their journey that led to what seems to people today as ruthless, unscrupulous murder. When in fact
these people were literally ordinary men who were introduced to unordinary circumstances which caused
them to abandon their humanity. If we discredit these people as inhuman we fail to learn the lessons of
human nature so we can avoid them in the future. Winston Churchill embodies the lessons learned from
Ordinary Men as he said Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The massacre in
Jozefow was first to introduce the men of Battalion 101 to mass murder. The orders were that males of
working age were to be sent Lublin to serve as work Jews, while the women, children and the elderly were
to be exterminated by gunshot immediately. Major Wilhelm Trapp, the battle commander, found these
orders repulsive and one of his officers having learned about the upcoming massacre asked to be reassigned

Proof of volcanic activity related to the break up of Australia and Antarctica is seen at Bunbury, which is

20. The Social Changes And Political Revolutions
To begin with, The social changes and political revolutions are to be sought, not in men s brains, not in man
s better insight into eternal truth and justice, but in changes in the modes of production and exchange by
Engels. Basically what Engels s means by that is the materialist formation of history starts from the scheme
of the production and how exchanges of things are produced, and that is the basis of all social structure.
Fundamentally, as in every society it has emerged in history and it still is happening that the manner in
which wealth is distributed and how the society is divided into classes or estates is dependent upon what is
produced, and how it is produce, and how the products are exchanged. And this is what that needs to be
sorted out. Therefore, the mode of production is playing a big role in today s society and also as it did back
in the days. Everything is dependent; one person is dependent on other in this society. Moreover, society is
divided into two groups; one group is whom who are ruling over the other group by taking his/her rights;
capitalism is playing its role. Moreover, changes in the productive forces are more powerful cause of
revolution. In conclusion, Engels takes an historical materialist approach. He indicates that the capitalist
mode of production is fundamentally contradictory and from this he traces a series of social and economic
conflicts that follow inevitably from this basic contradiction by establishing Historical

21. The Cold War And The War Era
The Cold War era was an infamous time in United States history. The stand off between the USSR and the
US lasted nearly forty five years, and began shortly after World War II had ended. Even though the USSR
and the US had been Allied Powers during the war, Stalin s ruling of his country frightened the United
States, and the US s late entry in the war caused Russian resentment. The tension the Cold War caused
terrified everyone and pressured the United States government to start preparing for desperate measures.
The US began mass producing nuclear bombs, increasing production four times over, and even started
working to create the first fusion hydrogen bomb (History, 2009). It the stress of the Cold War that caused
Rocky Flats to be constructed. Rocky Flats was a plutonium processing plant in Colorado, just 26km north
west of Denver (Coates, 2014). During its life it manufactured fission cores that were to be used to detonate
hydrogen bombs. The science they used to construct the fission cores utilized the discoveries made during
WWII. However after the FBI s raid in 1989, it was quickly shut down for good. Although the site has
received a massive cleanup from the government and community, its impact on Colorado can still be seen
today. The Rocky Flats plutonium plant was a top secret plutonium processing plant that spanned over
6,500 acres of federal property and employed nearly 4,000 people (Draper, 2014). It was a massive
establishment, as can be seen in the photo on the

Nursing and Electronic Medical Records Thomas Stinde April 28, 2016 Coconino Community College
Nursing and Electronic Medical Records In our society today, we have a broad range of computer
technology for our use. This technology in the nursing field is called informatics. Informatics is defined as a
combination of computer science, information science, and nursing science designed to assist in the
management and processing of nursing data, information, and the knowledge to support the practice of
nursing and the delivery of nursing care (Thede, 1). Nearly anywhere we go, and whatever career we
choose we all need to have basic computer skills. Computers are used in the health care profession due to an
increase of productivity they can provide, therefore allowing for better patient care. Computers also allow
for hospitals, doctor s offices, and other healthcare facilities to change over to and begin keeping electronic
medical records (EMR). An EMR has the medical information that the doctors and nurses obtain when you
have an office visit. The patient s paper medical record is put into an EMR program is basically made into a
digital version of that patient s medical information. The patient s healthcare provider can then use these
EMRs for diagnoses and treatment. There can be advantages and disadvantages for healthcare providers to
transition to an EMR system, and those providers will have to decide which one will outweigh the other.

23. Essay on Visual Acuity as a Function of Retinal Eccentricity
Visual Acuity Measured as a Function of Retinal Eccentricity
Visual acuity is a measure of an observer s ability to see fine spatial detail (Cavonius amp; Schumacher,
1966). There are a number of factors that affect visual acuity, such as illumination and contrast, and various
ways to measure it (Kalloniatis amp; Luu, 2005). One way to measure visual acuity is through target
detection which requires the perception of the orientation of a stimulus such as a Landolt C or a Snellen E
(Kalloniatis amp; Luu, 2005). The participant in the current experiment was referred to have their acuity
tested. Target detection of a stimulus was used to measure the participant s visual acuity as a function of
retinal eccentricity of the target. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The height and width of this optotype is designed to be five times the thickness of the stroke width and gap
width, therefore the size of each critical detail is 1/5th of the overall height (Kalloniatis amp; Luu, 2005).
Four stimulus sizes were used in the experiment as visual acuity was to be tested at four eccentricities (0˚,
20˚, 40˚ and 60˚). These four stimulus sizes were calculated using the approximate minimum angle of
resolution (MAR) of each eccentricity obtained from Millodot et al. s (1975) normal data. This value was
then used to find the gap size and hence the stimulus size using a distance of 600cm. The reason for using
the distance value of 600cm was because it is close to the threshold and therefore would be the starting
point of stimulus presentation for each of the eccentricities. The formula used was: gap size =
600*tan(MAR˚) ˃˃ size = 5 (600*tan(MAR˚))
The stimulus sizes (and critical feature sizes) calculated and used for the eccentricities 0˚, 20˚, 40˚ and 60˚
were 0.9cm (0.18cm), 2.2cm (0.44cm), 6.13cm (1.23cm) and 17.5cm (3.5cm) respectively.
Procedure
As already stated, it was decided by the experimenter to test visual acuity at the following eccentricities: 0˚,
20˚, 40˚ and 60˚. Measuring the MAR at each of these eccentricities would give a good indication of where
the participant s visual acuity measure lies in comparison to normal data. Exact vertical and horizontal

It is thought that the change in ocean currents is caused by plate tectonics generating more heat. It is said

Negative :
The risk weighted assets will increase sharply since Basel 3 has increased the capital adequacy ratio of the
banks to defend against the operational crisis in the future . Also , Basel 3 updated the standard of the main
factor of Tier 1 as well as Tier two capital whose baseline has raised from 4% to 6% . Although transition
period of carrying out Basel 3 regulation is long , the banks with lower capital adequacy ratio might suffer
from the huge pressure of supplying sufficient capital .
Recent years , in order to reach the baseline , banks have to finance billions of dollars . A bank should
finance 30 billion dollars with 5% capital adequacy ratio , but if the ratio raised up to 7% , it might need

30. Industrialization Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was a revolution in every sense of the word, as it altered almost every aspect of
live in the nineteenth century including technology, government, communication, environment and
eventually society as a whole.1 Although industrialisation created many positives for modern society, for
people in Britain up to the end of the nineteenth century it had many significantly negative consequences.
With the long term advances made for society came the then current development of overcrowding cities
abundant with pollution, health problems and poor living conditions for the working class. These poor
conditions continued into the work place with young children exploited as workers as young as the age of
four or five.2 There were consequences of the Industrial Revolution for people outside of the core of
Britain. India, being the periphery in the model were exploited for their raw materials which were exported
to Britain.
Through research the primary interpretation of the industrialisation has been positive, with some light now
being put upon some of the negative aspects of the industrial revolution, through sources which were
obtained in those times. The British Child Labour Inquiry (as cited in Stearns, Gosch, Grieshaber and
Belzer, 2012, pp. 121 122) acts as one of these primary sources. It was an inquiry conducted on Abraham
Whitehead on the conditions for British children who were forced to work in wool mills. This interview

This book is about ten strangers who receive invitations from U.N. Owen to meet at Soldier Island (off in
England), the island that used to be owned by an American who hosted big parties. So because they thought
there would be a huge event, each individual gladly accepts. Little did they know that no one else was going
to be on that island. The guests arrive and meet each other, except they still have no clue who Mr. or Mrs.
U.N. Owen is. As they eat dinner, a gramophone plays announcing why each guest has been invited,
because they all have committed murder that the law can t touch. As their vacation goes by, each soldier or
guest dies off one by one in a particular manner, their deaths follow those of the poem by Frank Green titled
Ten Little Soldiers or Ten Little Indians. The setting is on Soldier Island. Aan island in Devon, England.
There are no hills or caves, it is just a piece of land with a large house standing on it. The book takes place
at early August. From the eighth to the twelfth. There are so many main characters because the book was
about all ten guests. I think the most important character is the murderer himself who is given a better
description in the end of the book. Justice Wargrave also known as U.N. Owen. Wargrave was accused of

is unusual, and in patients with a history of hypertension, spontaneous resolution of hypertension over the

present, even in association with advanced heart failure. The pleural effusions in a patient with AL
amyloidosis may simply represent heart failure, but patients with cardiac amyloid may also have pleural
infiltration with amyloid, resulting in disproportionately large effusions that are diuretic resistant and
rapidly recur after a pleural tap. Splenomegaly is rare, whereas hepatomegaly is common and is due either
to congestion from right heart failure or to amyloid infiltration When extensive amyloid infiltration of the
liver is present, the organ is rock hard and not tender, often extending several centimeters below the costal
margin and crossing the midline. This contrasts with the firm, sometimes tender, liver of heart failure.
Peripheral edema may be profound, and if it appears disproportionate to the degree of heart failure, the
possibility of associated nephrotic syndrome should be considered. In addition to autonomic dysfunction,
amyloidosis may cause a sensory neuropathy, and the patient may complain of numbness or painful

Essentially the rent gap theory is based on the classic economic law of supply and demand (Smith, 1979).
According to Smith when there is a disparity between income collected from rent and the potential
achievable rental income, investors will seek to renovate and increase rent (Smith, 1979). Ley rejects Smith

opinion on how people behave and should behave when caught in tough situations. Instead of focusing on

situation would correspond with a specific theme in the chapter. Throughout the book, Aronson and Tavris

concept corresponds to a chapter or section in the book, these ideas are: confirmation bias, revision of

36. Selecting Shop Location For A Seller
According to Hotelling (1929), selecting shop location for a seller is crucial because consumers tend to buy
the products that located near their home. Therefore, products are differentiated by the shop locations,
which is known as spatial model of product differentiation. The buyer considers the ground price and
transportation cost when choosing the products. Those considerations become differentiation factors of
products from the buyers. To get deeper understanding about spatial model of differentiation, Hotelling
illustrates that the buyers are evenly distributed along a main street of a town. Suppose the seller operates
one shop only which is located in the center of Main Street. Consumers have to pay transport cost to buy the
product. The transport cost (t) is based on the distance between the shop and consumers home (location).
We can assume that consumers are willing to pay full quote of price (price of the product and transport cost,
p + tx) for a product if it less than reservation price (V). The graph above illustrates the condition of market
with one shop only. It shows us that the full quote of price increases as the distance of consumers location
become farther from the shop. In contrast, if the distance gets beyond x1, it will make transport cost and
price exceed consumers reservation price, and consumers are not willing to buy the products. Another
example, suppose the condition of the market is similar with the first graph, except there are two

This hypothesis had lead scientists to believe that being within sight distance of a pre 1972 fogger truck
spraying DDT may be associated with the estrogen receptive tumors, the most common type of breast
cancer diagnosed among American women (White). While DDT is still banned, there is the factor of
biological magnification that is still present today. Biological magnification is the process in which
chemicals of small doses are absorbed into the fatty tissues of animals through the water they drink, and as
they are absorbed into the fatty tissues, they are then passed down to the offspring of the animals through
the mother s milk, and are absorbed into the offspring s fatty tissues. This is present in humans just as much
as animals, and has lead to the fact that DDT still exists in our ecosystem to this day. Pesticides and other
chemicals also enter the ecosystem through water sources. DDT is commonly known to be soluble in water,
and have great biological magnification factors in the ecosystem of the Long Island Sound. In a study used
in research done by Marietta College, there was biological magnification of eight hundred times from the

Paradoxical Neutrality in Humanity Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter introduces adultery between
Hester and Dimmesdale to oppose Puritanism, which believes in absolute goodness or wickedness. These
two sinners mutual crime and yearning for redemption indicate the dualism in humanity. The conflicted
irony between their inner selves and outward characters heightens the tension in the novel, which dissolves
with the unity of private and public selves. Hawthorne s use of contrast in The Scarlet Letter reveals duality
in Hester and Dimmesdale s identities to criticize Puritanism s inflexible judgment of people and to promote
tolerance within humanity, which resolves with the acceptance of one s unchanging identity at the end.
Hawthorne evokes the ironic darkness behind Dimmesdale s pure, public mask to indicate sin s existence in
all humans, including the elects. Dimmesdale fails to overcome his past honourable public image and to
reveal the truth about his sin because the townspeople ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The letter A symbolizes the drastic transformation of the Puritan s community s opinion about Hester. As
the meaning changes from scorn and bitterness to awe and reverence , the original isolating symbol
becomes symbol for people to accept. The ending represents Hawthorne s vision of the Puritan s evolving
tolerance towards humanity. At least through Dimmesdale and Hester s journey in this novel, their two polar
positivity and negativity eventually blends into a paradoxical shade of grey, which constructs one s
authentic identity and leads them to

42. Analysis Of A Doll House By Henry James
In Daisy Miller by Henry James the author takes us on an adventure of a self centered American woman
who has no desire to conform to society. On the contrary in A Dolls House, Henrik Ibsen shows Nora as
woman who is also not bothered by society, but for less selfish reasons. Both women are willing to do what
is necessary for Daisy it is what is necessary to fulfill her own needs and for Nora what is necessary to
fulfill the needs of the ones she loves. Despite the motives of both women, each author shows the
empowerment behind each character. James and Ibsen discuss how the power of women is portrayed
through independence, courage and innocence. Independence is something everyone craves but may not
always achieve. Your roots may grow this characteristic early in life or a life changing event may cause you
to seek it. Daisy Miller travels throughout Europe unchaperoned until she comes across a gentleman,
Winterbourne. James sets the tone of Daisy s adventures after she meets Winterbourne by noting, A young
man was not at liberty to speak to a young unmarried lady except under certain rarely occurring conditions
(pg 5), which shows the outlook of the European Society. Despite the European ways, Daisy engaging with
Winterbourne shows her independence from society. On the other hand, Nora plays the domesticated
woman however, Nora s independence is not portrayed as her roots as it is for Daisy. The author does not
give Nora her independence until she has discovered her

43. Why Is Brutus Justified In Killing Julius Caesar
Is it ever just to kill another human being? No, one cannot justly kill someone. Everyone has a time; and
humans can t alter the fates of another. In William Shakespeare s play Julius Caesar, the main character,
Julius Caesar is made out to be an ambitious and arrogant dictator in Rome. He is surrounded by childhood
friends, including his best friend and murderer, Brutus. Brutus is manipulated by Cassius, a roman senator
and part of the conspiracy, into believing romans want Julius Caesar dead, so they form a conspiracy to kill
Caesar. Although, the Romans say Brutus is honorable, Brutus is not justified in killing Julius Caesar
because the conspiracy is driven by jealousy, he is manipulated into believing Caesar should die and romans

Tricking him into doing what s good for the people . The next way they try to manipulate Brutus is by
flattering him. In the play Brutus is a very self conscious character. He might be the same as Caesar but he
doesn t see this. I have heard Where many of the best respect in Rome, Except Immortal Caesar speaking of
Brutus and groaning underneath his age s yoke Have wish d that noble Brutus had his eyes (I.ii.60). Cassius
is convincing Brutus into believing he really is a brave and noble man. By doing this Brutus will be more
offended by Caesar s remarks and want to join the conspiracy. To wrap up, Brutus is in fact manipulated
into killing Caesar. Lastly, Romans change rulers so quickly. The Romans show repeatedly throughout the
play that their opinions are easily altered. Additionally, in the beginning of the play Caesar kills Pompey.
Just before his death the Romans worshiped and loved Pompey. Then directly after his defeat they cheered.
Praising Caesar for his victory in killing their deceased idol. With patient expectation to see the great
Pompey pass the streets of rome... That comes in triumph over pompey s blood? (I.i.34 51) Although
technically their indecisive behavior could also support the killing of Caesar. The Romans are so easily
wavered yet this happens in another place in Shakespeare s play Julius Caesar. Shortly after Caesar s

45. Narrow Views On The United States
Narrow Minds: Narrow Views
Contrary to what many people thing, the dramatic event that happened in New York on
September 11, 2001 when Muslim origin terrorist perpetuated the killing of innocent people in the United
States was very devastating not just to Americans but also to the rest of the world.
The world felt the consequences of this terrorist attack against America apart from condemning it because it
was a horrible and inhumane event, but also by America government official s racial profiling citizens of all
nationalities that set foot into America territory. As citizens of the United
States, we are concerned about criminality undermining our society; drugs, terrorist attacks and violence are
increasing in our communities. Although crime is a serious problem in our society, government resources
are limited and we live under a terrorist threat. However, racial profiling is not the solution to reduce our
social issues because it is unconstitutional, promotes distrust in government agencies, and prevents America
from finding a more inclusive solution.
Many people have different ideas of what constitutes Racial Profiling but, According to
Jody Feder, in Racial Profiling: Legal and Constitutional Issues, Racial profiling is the practice of targeting
individuals for police or security detention based on their race or ethnicity in the belief that certain minority
groups are more likely to engage in unlawful behavior (4).
The belief that certain appearances in people
