Essay On The Potato Famine
When the Potato Famine struck Ireland, in 1845 about one million of the Irish immigrated to the
United States. Most were severely poor, and were suffering from sickness from diseases, and
starvation. These famine immigrants were one of the first giant floods of foreigners to come to the
United States and it was very stressful for Americans. The Irish left their country due to diseases
completely ruining their potato crops (which is known as the Potato Famine), and it left millions of
their people without food, which led them to starve. It killed over a million people and brought up a
lot of anger towards the British since they barely provided any help towards to Irish. When the Irish
arrived, the saw how tough their lives were going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem was that those Canadian ships were not built for passenger travel and were in such
terrible conditions. The passengers on those boats ended up going through hell because of those
conditions. Coffin ships is what the Canadian ships became known as because so many of the people
of those ships died during their journey. Many of the immigrants were kept in quarantine as well due
to the fevers they had. Hundreds of poor people, men, and women, and children of all ages, from the
driveling idiot of ninety to the babe just born; huddled together without light, without air, wallowing
in filth and breathing a fetid atmosphere, sick in body, dispirited in heart...; the fevered patients lying
between the sound in sleeping spaces so narrow as almost to deny them the power of indulging by a
change in position, the natural restlessness of the diseased; by their agonized raving distributing those
around them and predisposing them, through the effects of imagination, to imbibe the contagion;

the voice of spiritual consolation, and buried in the deep without the rites of the church (Steven de

Mediated Clot Reaction Process
Differences in the integrin αIIbβ3 mediated clot retraction process between PECAM 1 / and wild type
platelets
At the experiment outset, the PECAM 1 deficient mouse population was healthy and displayed normal
Mendelian inheritance ratios.12 In addition, the population was within a haematologically normal
range and displayed normal platelet production.12 During the first months of life, when compared to
the age and sex matched population of wild mice, the homozygous PECAM 1 knockout mouse
population struggled to grow, with lower average body weights.17 Research performed by Mahooti et
al,18 which assessed tail bleeding duration, suggested that the PECAM 1 / group displayed longer
bleeding times and, therefore, an in vivo bleeding defect. In sharp contrast, similar research by
Vollmar et al19 suggested that the PECAM 1 deficient population displayed normal tail bleeding
times. Initially, it was proposed that the potential reason for this difference was an artefact created by
different experimental techniques. Further investigation, using hematopoietic reconstitution of
irradiated PECAM 1 / mice to evaluate any reversal of prolonged tail bleeding, showed that the
discrepancy was probably caused by an underlying endothelial defect rather than a platelet defect.18
In vitro evidence suggested that modulation of integrin αIIbβ3 mediated functions was influenced by
engagement of the PECAM 1 group, so the next stage involved testing if a fundamental integrin

English Reflection
In my previous English courses, I had no knowledge of writing an essay, or even a proper sentence.
Writing did not seem like anything important in my life, or that it would affect me anyway in the
future. I had despised my own writing and loathed having to write essays for any of my classes. When
I had enrolled in Composition I, I had no idea what I was going to do to pass. However, in class, we
had done collaborative work, which had helped me progress myself. Collaborative work had consisted
of multiple students helping each other, sharing ideas, and peer reviews. This was a change of pace for
me since I had not done that before. In previous classes, I had done individual work, which was solely
myself correcting and working on my work. Between collaborative work and individual work, I
enjoyed working with partners and sharing each other s experiences to benefit ourselves. Over this
class I have developed my writing skills, learned from my previous mistakes, and understood the
writing process.
To begin with, before taking this class I would have grammar errors, low level word choices, sentence
fragments, contractions, and no sentence variety. The grammar in my essays would be something that
I had never worked on or learned from. My word choices were that of a middle schooler and would
sound childish at times. I had never taken the time to learn about the sentence variety and
combinations that were possible. My knowledge of sentence variety was limited to only compound

Exciting Modifications
Since you have moved much has changed. Exciting modifications have transpired during past year.
Events including youth group, orchestra, and my own personal interests have taken dramatic turns.
Changes for the better and worse have been established. Youth group has altered noticeably only
recently. Instead of Impact it is titled six7; similarly, they have changed their logo as well. Although I
will constantly support youth group as a whole, I am having trouble adjusting to this change.
Currently we are in a lesson series called I Am. It elaborates on topics about self confidence. Pete does
a wonderful job engaging the audience, which is an impressive feat. Our friends are doing fine. They
are involved with multiple activities. This and youth group keeps them occupied. All in all, youth

of the year. The difference between Honors and regular orchestra is that you need to try out for
Honors. There are 13 members; three first violins, three second violins, four violas, two cellos, and
one bass. I was fortunate to be placed as a second violin. My family is immensely proud. Our music
this year is exhilarating. We are playing contemporary songs and multiple classics. I have practiced
often only to find that the music is interestingly challenging. In addition, I have met numerous people
due to the incoming seventh graders. Having doubled the size of our orchestra to a truly incredible
size, the seventh graders are extraordinarily talented and enthusiastic. The orchestra program has, and

Jeans care at home stipulate
There is no need to clarify the fashion appeal of denim jeans in the fashion world. Jeans are now a

Since the development of the radio, people have proposed that communications technology provide
major improvements in the delivery of education. Research on teaching machines dates back to the
1940 s before the general introduction of computers into the marketplace. Since that time there has
been continual research development and implementation of techniques for using information
technology in various aspects of education. OTA investigated what is known and what has been
proposed about possible applications of information technology to education. Information technology
is capable of becoming major resources for the delivery of educational services over the next decade:
It can be an affairs delivery mechanism existing forms of education.
It provides capabilities for responding to new demands that traditional schoolroom education cannot

Defining The Corporate Veil Its Legal And Ethical...
Defining the Corporate Veil Its Legal and Ethical Boundaries
Introduction
What is a viable reason for the Courts to pierce the Corporate Veil? The economy improves as
businesses expand and increase in revenue. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) dictates that
corporations go above and beyond in taking responsibility for the effect the corporation on has on the
environment and the social wellbeing. With as many people in production, the lower the employment
rate can be expected and the better the economy.
Through research, we will evaluate and define the Corporate Veil, identify legal and ethical dilemmas
and explain legal and ethical business decisions within the business organization.
What is the Corporate Veil?
A Corporation or LLC allows the individual to become a separate entity from the Corporation. Many
business owners and entrepreneur enter a partnership or corporation to protect their personal assets.
This is especially important when you are in the business to expand the business and market the
product/service. The corporate veil is defined as a situation in which courts put aside limited liability
and hold a corporation s shareholders or directors personally liable for the corporation s actions or
debts (LII, n.d.). There is an invisible shield that the veil separates the corporate entity and provides
protection for the people (directors, shareholders, etc.) also known as the alter ego , and keeps them
covered from personal liability behind the

The Marketing Mix Of Starbucks
II) Marketing Mix
The marketing mix is the set of tactical marketing tools that the firm blends to produce the response it
wants in the target market. It consists of everything the firm can do to influence the demand for its
products (Kotler et al., 2013, p.53). Its main characteristics can be categorised into a 4Ps framework.
a) Product
Starbucks was initially known as a premium coffee chain for high standard coffee lovers. However,
throughout the years and the fierce competition, Starbucks has expanded its product portfolio to match
new customer needs. They introduced the brands Tazo Tea and Fizzio offering caffeine free
handcrafted sodas (Mintel, 2014). They also launched innovative beverages like the Frappuccino, and
created an extensive food menu. In fact, a study has shown that around 22% of hot drink purchasers
were very interested in seeing baked goods on the menu of coffee shops (Mintel, 2014). They also do
their best to introduce seasonal offerings, such as the gingerbread for Christmas (Erin, 2010). They
now host 8 main categories of drinks and 7 of food to attract a wider range of consumers (i.e. the non
coffee lovers). Nevertheless, beverages still account for 60% of sales in the store (Statista, 2015).
Beyond serving drinks and food, Starbucks enables its customers to purchase Starbucks coffee and
cappuccino makers, to extend the Starbucks experience at home, in a Starbucks mug. Each product is
unique since the barista personalises it with the

Therapeutic Effects of Yoga on Depression in Men and Women This paper will explore what
depression is, how depression effects males and females, and offer insight into how yoga can be a
form of treatment for depression. According to the 2013 research of Holger Cramer, Romy Lauche,
Jost Langhorst, and Gustav Dobos, depression has formerly been described as reflecting a primary
disorder of biomedical and neurophysiological functions with evidence that alterations certain
neurotransmitters including noradrenaline, serotonin, dopamine, and GABA play a major role in the
pathophysiology of depression (Cramer, et., 2013). Additional research regarding yoga practice and
increased levels of dopamine, GABA and serotonin is widely available. The balancing of these
neurotransmitters is widely suggested as essential to depression treatment by many researchers and
clinical therapeutic practitioners today. According to the National Institute of Mental Health,
depression is a serious but common illness that interferes with daily life and causes pain for you and
the your loved ones (National Institute of Mental Health, 2015). Depression affects males and females;
however, females are more likely to be diagnosed with depression at any given year. Mental health
problems such as depression, anxiety and insomnia are amongst the most common reasons for
individuals to seek out treatment

The Core Elements of Person-Centered Counseling
Person centered counseling (PCC) is one of the key models of understanding for the dynamic force
that lies behind the therapist/client relationship. This particular model focuses on the three core
elements of unconditional positive regard, empathic understanding and congruence, all of which
related to the establishment of a level of trust, understanding, respect and honesty between the two
players. But what happens when the domain of person centered counseling gets usurped by a
computer centered reality ?
Can there really be person centered counseling in the day and age of digital manipulation and
engagement? What does it mean when gaming addictions are a leader on the scoreboard of issues of
concern to many young people? And if there can be an equivalent contemporary model, what are the
implications of this for the use of the kinds of therapeutic interventions that are likely to be the best for
dealing with problem computer usage?
This paper provides a brief overview of the three core elements of the PCC model and then seeks to
explore how they are likely impacted by the evolution of the fast paced realities of computer and
technological immersion. Clients and therapists are already finding themselves engaged together on
many fronts in the dynamic universe of cyberpsychology where the rules about what is real or ideal
and how human perceptions of these transfer to real life are just beginning to be understood.
First, however, it needs to be recognized that this

Queen vs. Dudley and Stephens
Regina v. Dudley and Stephens
There have been many criminal cases in the history, which brought controversy, whether murder could
be justified under different circumstances. One of the famous cases tells a story of four shipwrecked
men, which were lost in the high seas. The story was named The Lifeboat Case , regarding the tragic
and life changing decision that was made in extreme circumstance. Four seamen, Thomas Dudley,
Edward Stephens, Brooks and seventeen year old Richard Parker were in high seas and due to the
storm that hit them very bad, they had to put themselves into an open boat. They did not have any
supply of water and food, except 1 lb. tin of turnips. On the fourth day of this journey, they caught a
small turtle and it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the ship started to sink, men barely managed to get into a lifeboat and by the time they were trying
to save their lives, all of supplies of water and food were gone. Professor Teuber clarifies it, saying:
Unfortunately, the emergency supply of water that they had hastily thrown overboard next to the
dinghy was swept away by the waves (people.brandeis.edu). Since Teuber acknowledged that Dudley
was the captain of the ship, it might also be the reason of why all decisions were made by Dudley. He
might have felt himself responsible for men s life and tried to save as much as he could, by sacrificing
one. One of the details Teuber mentioned was that the rest of seamen were rescued by a German boat,
called Montezuma , which was heading home from South America. As soon as they delivered men to
Falmouth and started questioning them, it was clear that they have committed a crime. However,
Brook s name wasn t mentioned as one of the prisoners throughout the story. And Teuber reveals the
reason, saying: The upright Dudley immediately insisted that he was the ringleader and that Brooks
was completely innocent (people.brandeis.edu). So that s why Brooks played as a prosecution s
witness. The most remarkable situation in this case, was the peace between Dudley and the Richard s
brother Daniel Parker. He even came to court and shook Dudley s hand. By the way, the initials C.J

Sympathy For Sylvia In A White Heron

The Importance Of My High School Band
I play the French horn in my high school band. Our band is small only 25 30 members but we are a
family. Each class I see the determination on each person s face to do well because there s the constant
pressure of letting the rest of the band down. Because we are so small, each person has to play to the
absolute best of their abilities; each individual person needs to be a strong player in order for our band
to sound good. I ve played in larger bands on several occasions and I was shocked to see that some
kids would just... not play. Our band cannot afford that leniency.
Our size in itself is a challenge. However, I have personal struggles within the band as well. There
have only been two French horn players in my band for the entirety of my high school career: myself
and the number one horn player in the state, Cross. My whole life I have played second to an amazing
musician but while I improved by playing with him, I also never received any recognition for my
personal achievements or was ever granted the primary leadership position.
I often struggle to comprehend how good of a player I am, especially because I have performance
anxiety which hinders me during auditions and most performances. I constantly compare myself to
this amazing player who auditions well, who is regularly being recognized for musical achievements,
and who can never quite understand the concept of humility. He never understood my struggle, so I
was left adrift in an overwhelming sea of ineptitude.

by proving that the holding company was aware of the subsidiary s insolvency status this will allow
the subsidiary s liquidator to obtain assets from holding company to fund subsidiary s liabilities.

Parable Of The Sower Critical Analysis
In The Parable of the Sower, author Octavia Butler realistically describes the dystopia of the U.S that
is currently ruled by poverty, crime, and chaos. Lauren, the main protagonist, evolves and goes on a
physical and emotional journey to create her own beliefs and prepare for life behind the wall. Lauren
lives in the community of Robledo that is guarded by a wall that is meant to protect them from crime
although it often fails to do so. Being the daughter of a Baptist, Lauren is challenged to conform and
participate in the religious passivity of the community. Not having enough water, food, and safety

If we change into the perspective of a conformist, one would cringe at her willingness to put herself in
more danger and one would label her attitude as rebellious and childish. Lauren clearly has different
opinions and beliefs than the rest of the community, a voice she often exercises. Lauren is capable and
smart to help her community; however, it is hard when they always dismiss her. Although the rest of
her community has conformed and resigned to their situations Lauren defies that ideal. Throughout the
entire novel Lauren does not give up or conform to her faith she continues to fight and seek solutions
to her problems regardless of the passivity of the community. Thus, from a conformist point of view
Lauren is dangerous and an arrogant person who might jeopardize the safety of the society because in
those set of lenses she does not accept and appreciate the life she was given. Moving on, in a different
case, from a survivalist point of view, Lauren is an admirable and brave character who recognizes
there is a problem and fearlessly decides to address it. Wishing to help the community Lauren bravely
tries to explain and convince Joanne that they must take action, she says, We can stop denying reality
or hoping it will go away by magic. (Butler pg. 58) She shows her frustration on the dismay of the
community that ignores and denies the problems present. Lauren understands that thief s will continue

What Are Your Struggles Essay
Struggles can come from everywhere, but the hardest ones are from within. Our weaknesses, our flaws

inside of me breaks. I think what hurts the most is when I give my all to someone, through thick and
thin, there for them, I stick with them, no matter what. Then one day they just give up. They won t
even fight for me, unlike how I did. The one thing I never have done they did with no hesitation. This
is why I have trust issues, I give my 100% in everything yet that person won t even care. As if
whatever we had was never a thing? People give up too quickly but I give in so easily. Life is unfair, it
seems like I m giving everyone everything and they re just walking away with it. Sometimes giving
someone a second chance is like giving someone an extra bullet for the gun because they missed the
first time. I have had many bad experiences with friendship in the past, just don t want to struggle with
anymore, that s why I have had one true friend for the past ten years,

The Scapegoat Research Paper
The doctrine of the escape Goat in the Old Testament
In the law of Moses, the scapegoat bore the burden of the sins of the people. What is a scapegoat and
what is the origin of that word? The word scapegoat has two meanings. The most common is one that
bears the blame for others. That person may or may not be guilty of . The original meaning was a goat
was present upon whose head are symbolically placed the sins of the people after which the goat is
sent into the wilderness in the biblical ceremony for Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement. On the one
hand, the goat takes upon him the sins of the people, and on the other hand, he is set free in the
wilderness. The first meaning of the word given above refers to one who is blamed (and usually ...

The reason for this barbarous custom was that on one occasion the scapegoat returned to Jerusalem
after being set free, which was considered such an evil omen that its recurrence was prevented for the
future by the death of the goat . The scapegoat is not intended to escape but instead to be cast out into
an uninhabited wilderness to be gone forever from the people. That much is in the actual Law of
Moses, as understood by those who performed the ceremony. The Christian interpretation of the
scapegoat has seemed obviously that the scapegoat bore all the sins of Israel and so did Christ who
outdated the laws of mosses in our time. The bible make it clear that Christ suffered for our sins and
paid for them in full. That is the whole point of the Atonement, and that is a core belief of true
Christians. And even if He is a goat in this case, the other goat of this pair seems like a much better
candidate. After all, he was the one chosen to be for Jehovah , and he was sacrificed to atone for the
sins of mankind, as was Christ. If the scapegoat represents Christ who bore all of our sins, then what
was the point of the other goat which was sacrificed to pay for them? Most commentators conclude
that both goats represent Christ, but have no compelling explanation for the difference between them.
The good example of scapegoat is between Barabbas and Jesus. Jesus and Barabbas were judged by
Pilate, who found no guilt in him. There was a tradition of releasing one prisoner at Passover. So the
governor asked crowd to chosen whom to release among the prisoners, and the they Barabbas to be
free. The governors had no answer, but persecute Jesus, and released Barabbas who was the real
criminal (Mat.

Wesco
1. What is your action plan? Do you recommend that WESCO be proactive in Managing its NA
program or would you prefer that WESCO adopt a passive approach? Action Plan: WESCO should
definitely adopt a proactive approach in managing its NA program. A proactive approach in managing
the NA program would definitely fulfill the company s visions of becoming a $ 3 billion company
with an average EBIT of over 5% by the year 2000 (from its 1996 figures of $ 2.2 billion company
with an EBIT of around 3%.) Though the current position was not conducive to continue the program
further, because the company was already at a loss of complete 2% in their revenue as compared in the

 As in the case of WESCO s success story with an industrial customer in the paper segment,
WESCO conducted a complete energy audit and recommended more energy efficient systems for all
their plants. They also reduced inventory and implemented EDI procurement.  Customer s
sometimes even wanted a complete solution and wanted WESCO to handle their new projects in
designing specifications and installation of new systems.  Value is also added in NA projects in
terms of managing customers inventory saving customers time and therefore cost. This also helps the
customer to reduce their procurement cost and gives the customer the opportunity to standardize
procurement. Thus summarizing, WESCO adds value to its customers in terms of: Transaction cost
reductions, Energy savings, Inventory reductions. This ultimately led to cost savings to the customer.
3. Why do you think the NA program is delivering on its promises? WESCO s NA program had been
established under the premise that large contracts could mean significant savings for both customers
and WESCO. In exchange for giving their EES business to WESCO, NA Customers received
competitive, year long, national pricing regardless of volume. Once a client enters into an agreement
with Wesco for its NA program there might be good chances the customer might give its EES business
also to the company. This

How Does Love Effect Biological Drugs
Many people state love is a drug. It has been proven that stages in love effect biological components.
An example of this is would include stages like falling in love with a surge of dopamine, or cuddling
concludes in serotonin levels being high. Cocaine blocks the reuptake of serotonin, dopamine, and
norepinephrine increasing their consecration in the synapses which amplifies the chemical reactions.
In MRI studies, it has been seen that the same pathways are being lit for love and cocaine use. Both
love and cocaine effect the reward pathway. Although both reach all areas of the brain the euphoric
effects are mediated to a few specific areas such as the prefrontal cortex, nucleus accumbens, and the
ventral tegmental area (VTA) (NIH, 2016).

Conflict Between Narcissism And Aggression Essay
Correspondingly, the propaganda of both Croats and Serbs indulged their populations to believe that
each side was responsible for their suffering.
Further there is a psychological dimension of the ethnic nationalism that is centered around peoples
perceptions when questioning their identity. Conflict is a process driven by collective needs and fears
that comes from a psychological aspect. Psychology drives attitudes and behaviours of individuals and
groups. Using Freud s analysis, Ignatieff focuses our attention on the relationship between narcissism
and aggression. Narcissism is a personality trait that involves arrogant behavior, a lack of empathy for
other people, and a need for self admiration.
Ignatieff exploration of Freud s analysis conduces him to the assumption that nationalism and
narcissism are two allied expressions. He says:
A nationalist takes the neutral facts about people their language, habit, culture, tradition, and history
and turns these facts into a narrative, whose purpose is to illuminate the self consciousness of a group,
to enable them to think of themselves as a nation with a claim to self determination. A nationalist, in
other words, takes minor differences indifferent in themselves and transforms them into major
differences (45).
This passage shows that nationalism is a sort of narcissism. Yugoslavs nationalists wanted a nation
where all walks of people in Yugoslavia could live together as one single group. They neglected minor
differences

Summary Of Looking Backwards By Edward Bellamy
In the second book, Looking Backwards, Edward Bellamy demonstrates the worldview question what
is the zeitgeist . In humanities zeitgeist is defined as the spirit of the times.Throughout the book
Bellamy gives the reader different time frames to look at, to help examine the zeitgeist. The time
frames presented in the book involve the 19th century and the 20th century. Bellamy distinguishes the
time periods through his characters Julian West and Dr. Leete. All through the book, Julian West
represents the 19th century aristocratic beliefs and Dr. Leete represents the 20th century utopia belief.
With that, it is helpful for one to analyze the characteristics of the worldview features that are present
in all cultural artifacts to understand the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Leete, the reader gains a better understanding of how much things have changed in the 20th century.
The city of Boston, that was once spread out, has changed to more of a compact and busy area. Also,
the buildings have changed into more modern structures with technology (pg.55). During his time
with Dr. Leete and his family he sees that many things have changed, since the 19th century. One of
the major things that have changed is that everyone lives on the same fixed income (pg.96). With their
income they are allowed to spend it on whatever they see is important. Compared to the 1800 s there
are a variety of shopping stores that sell both; wants and needs. It is also important to note that music
has changed, too. During the 19th century it was performed by individuals and bands live, but now
one can listen to performers through technology (pg. 97). Even the political and economic systems
have changed. For example, they use a method of electing officials by votes of the retired members of
guilds (pg.147). Economically the country has gotten rid of private capital and they are able to
calculate expected demand for goods and services. This is due to the fact the nation is the only
producer of them. Another change involves trade with other countries. There is equality between
women and men when it comes to jobs and opportunities. As a society they have put more emphasis
on education and what it can provide for an individual, or a society. If the 19th

Gay, Lesbian And Transgender People
Before I begin today, I d like to ask you all a question. Raise your hand if you support the rights of
gay, lesbian and transgender people? Well, unless the government were looking for someone to arrest
for homosexuality the question I just asked wouldn t have even been posed prior to the 1960 s. Why?
Simply because unless you were homosexual, it was assumed everyone in society shunned same sex
relationships.
55 years later and there s been a significant amount of change, according to Australian marriage
Equality.org 64% of Australians support marriage equality and 81% of young people (18 24 years)
support [gay marriage] , however it s far from over, and the road to complete equality still has a few
speed bumps to go.
These speed bumps consist of groups of people like the homophobic. Homophobia is the fear or hatred
towards gay, lesbian and transgender people. People and social groups may feel this way due to
religion, parents beliefs or don t understand the ideology behind it.
But same sex relationships aren t something that have recently been a hot topic, for many years prior
to even white inhabitants in our country, same sex relationships have occurred. In numerous
Indigenous tribes, homosexuality was completely forbidden however in some tribes; similar to
practices in ancient Greece, unmarried men entered into sexual relationships with youths with the
expectation that the relationships would end once they married. Some tribes even believed that

“The hunting community ensures that wildlife populations...
The hunting community ensures that wildlife populations of game species are sustainable from one
generation to the next (Gibbons 1). Land can only feed and house so many animals before all life
naturally dies off and kills the surrounding area. Once animals are over populated something must be
done to restore balance to the ecosystem. Natural selection in the environment is not enough for many
animals to keep populations at a manageable rate. This is where hunters come in, hunters help to lower
populations in environments to allow other animals and life to thrive in a humane way that costs less
than any other method of control. It is common now for ecosystems to become over run with a species
of animal that will overtake the area they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each environment can only handle so many animals before the environment crumbles and the over
populated animals starve to death and overlap into other animals food and kill off many other animals.
Wildlife levels have been on the rise and are now at a point of overflowing their carrying capacities
(Emmons 3). So the need for controlling animal populations is growing. Thanks to the increase of
population of humans, we are taking more and more land which is making many environments
become much smaller or disappear. With the shrinking environments it becomes easier to reach the
carrying capacity because the carrying capacity shrinks due to the limited environment they can
access. Hunting is now a necessary mechanism for the population control of many wildlife
populations (Emmons 3). It is safer and easier for people to open hunting in many places then it is for
the government to trap and move animals to different locations where they would survive better.
Hunting promotes a better ecological balance so that forests and other landscapes can thrive as a
whole along with all of the animals that rely on the same land as those that are over populated.
Hunters not only help the environment by controlling populations, they work with conservation and
ecological groups to build and conserve wildlife and land. Hunters and environmentalists share a
common love, that of beautiful forests and landscapes and watching animals even though their
intentions are

My Diet Of The Junk Food Should Have A Big Contribution...
Based on my calculations, my percentages for each macronutrient are in with my recommended
ranges except for fats. In my carbohydrates I am in close range with my recommended percentage by
.02 percent. For my fats I am 10 % over which in not in my recommended range. For my protein I am
in the recommended range I am 1% over. For my overall diet I am in good standing position for my

less than my recommended intake. In my red and orange vegetables I ate 4 and half cups less than my
recommended value. For my beans and peas I ate a cup and a half less than my recommended value.
For starchy vegetables I am 4 cups lower then my recommended intake. For grains I m on the low

The Key Themes In Animal Farm By George Orwell
Animal Farm, an allegorical novel by George Orwell, depicts a very clear picture of the events leading
up to the 1917 Russian Revolution and the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union. The techniques Orwell
has used when writing this piece allows his robust view points and prominent reoccurring themes to
become clear. A couple of themes that stood out the most to me was the use of education and
intelligence, as well as corruption of power and leadership to fuel oppression. Orwell uses the imagery
of a farm and the farmyard animals to represent Russia and the dominant figures of the time. Other
techniques such as satire were also used to portray his opinions and key messages.
One of the key themes in Animal Farm was the use of intelligence ... Show more content on

Orwell s novel proves that Stalin wasn t the world s first corrupt leader and Trump won t be the last,
which is why I have confidence that Animal Farm will always relate to how it is difficult for some to
have power without the temptation of abusing it.
Further on in the text, the pigs discover a children s book which they use to teach themselves how to
read and write. However, when they are finished with the book they destroy it preventing any of the
other animals from finding it and becoming equally as smart as the pigs. By using their skills and
leadership positions to their advantage, the pigs don t contribute to the physical, labor intensive jobs,
but take control of the organization and direction of Manor Farm. This theme of using intelligence and
education to manipulate a population is not only prevalent during the time Orwell wrote the novel, but
is also significant in the world we live in today.
At the beginning of the text, the character Old Major states that in order to move forward the animals
must be [in] perfect unity, perfect comradeship in the struggle . When Old Major dies, the animals are
left deprived of a leader causing Napoleon and Snowball to fight. Napoleon wins by manipulating the
other animals and hence becoming the leader . As the novel progresses, Napoleon continues to gain
power and soon appears as a dictator, by oppressing the animals. He used force to brain wash and
manipulate the animals, making them work

The Pros And Cons Of Texas Seceded From The United States
This research assignment goes through the idea of Texas seceding from the United States. The
introduction goes through a thorough explanation of the history of Texas and the many difficult
challenges the territory had to face in becoming a state. The first idea implemented is how many times
Texas has seceded and the reasons for seceding. The next follows information on why Texas would be
better off seceding from the United States and why it should have stayed as a Republic. In contrast,
the similar idea develops advantages and disadvantages of having Texas seceded from the Union. As a
result, it then transitions into another idea, is Texas better off with staying with the United States after
all. In that slide it also talks about how the Texas

Beowulf As An Epic
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word epic? Something epic could be
associated with an event or action of something heroic or impressive. This is similar to what an epic
poem is. Beowulf is an epic poem, a long narrative poem that is usually about the deeds of a heroic
figure. Occasionally stories that are passed down orally through different generations are transformed
into epic poems. The people who heard the story of Beowulf experienced it not be text, but by hearing
it from scops. Scops were poets who entertained people by memorizing and telling stories like
Beowulf. These poets memorized 3,200 lines of the poem. Beowulf is on of the first works of English
literature. It might have been recorded in writing in Old English around 700 A.D. by an Anglo Saxon
poet. Since Beowulf originated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weapons were only wielded by men. The most common weapon carried by Anglo Saxons are knives,
although knives were typically used more as utensils or tools instead of weapons. A weapon that is
easily accessible as they were, in many instances, used for cutting down trees, are axes. Axes could be
brought into a battle for close quarters combat (Anglo Saxon Discovery). Spears held during the
activity of hunting were also deployed in battles. Anglo Saxons laws suggest that these spears, often
more than two meters long, should be owned and available to all male citizens (Anglo Saxon
Discovery). Swords were also evident amongst Anglo Saxons, however swords are more expensive
and required more work to construct, therefore swords were seldom found. Protection such as chain
mail and helmets were only possessed by rich and high ranked warriors. Weapons are armed by Anglo
Saxon men primarily to boast his ranking within society as much as it is used for battle (Anglo Saxon
Discovery). An Anglo Saxon who wore a helmet, chain mail and wielded a sword can be considered as
a powerful and respected

Most were severely poor, and were suffering from sickness from diseases, and starvation. These famine immigrants were one of the first giant floods of foreigners to come to the United States and it was very stressful for Americans. The Irish left their country due to diseases completely ruining their potato crops (which is known as the Potato Famine), and it left millions of their people without food, which led them to starve. In sharp contrast, similar research by Vollmar et al19 suggested that the PECAM 1 deficient population displayed normal tail bleeding times. Initially, it was proposed that the potential reason for this difference was an artefact created by different experimental techniques. Further investigation, using hematopoietic reconstitution of irradiated PECAM 1 / mice to evaluate any reversal of prolonged tail bleeding, showed that the discrepancy was probably caused by an underlying endothelial defect rather than a platelet defect.18 In vitro evidence suggested that modulation of integrin αIIbβ3 mediated functions was influenced by engagement of the PECAM 1 group, so the next stage involved testing if a fundamental integrin αIIbβ3 platelet ... Writing did not seem like anything important in my life, or that it would affect me anyway in the future. I had despised my own writing and loathed having to write essays for any of my classes. When I had enrolled in Composition I, I had no idea what I was going to do to pass. However, in class, we had done collaborative work, which had helped me progress myself. Collaborative work had consisted of multiple students helping each other, sharing ideas, and peer reviews. This was a change of pace for me since I had not done that before. In previous classes, I had done individual work, which was solely myself correcting and working on my work. Between collaborative work and individual work, I enjoyed working with partners and sharing each other s experiences to benefit ourselves. Over this class I have developed my writing skills, learned from my previous mistakes, and understood the writing process. To begin with, before taking this class I would have grammar errors, low level word choices, sentence fragments, contractions, and no sentence variety. The grammar in my essays would be something that I had never worked on or learned from. My word choices were that of a middle schooler and would sound childish at times. I had never taken the time to learn about the sentence variety and combinations that were possible. My knowledge of sentence variety was limited to only compound and ... The Core Elements of Person-Centered Counseling Person centered counseling (PCC) is one of the key models of understanding for the dynamic force that lies behind the therapist/client relationship. This particular model focuses on the three core elements of unconditional positive regard, empathic understanding and congruence, all of which related to the establishment of a level of trust, understanding, respect and honesty between the two players. But what happens when the domain of person centered counseling gets usurped by a computer centered reality ? Can there really be person centered counseling in the day and age of digital manipulation and engagement? Professor Teuber clarifies it, saying: Unfortunately, the emergency supply of water that they had hastily thrown overboard next to the dinghy was swept away by the waves (people.brandeis.edu). Since Teuber acknowledged that Dudley was the captain of the ship, it might also be the reason of why all decisions were made by Dudley. He might have felt himself responsible for men s life and tried to save as much as he could, by sacrificing one. One of the details Teuber mentioned was that the rest of seamen were rescued by a German boat, called Montezuma , which was heading home from South America. As soon as they delivered men to Falmouth and started questioning them, it was clear that they have committed a crime. However, Brook s name wasn t mentioned as one of the prisoners throughout the story. And Teuber reveals the reason, saying: The upright Dudley immediately insisted that he was the ringleader and that Brooks was completely innocent (people.brandeis.edu). So that s why Brooks played as a prosecution s witness. The most remarkable situation in this case, was the peace between Dudley and the Richard s brother Daniel Parker. The first meaning of the word given above refers to one who is blamed (and usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason for this barbarous custom was that on one occasion the scapegoat returned to Jerusalem after being set free, which was considered such an evil omen that its recurrence was prevented for the future by the death of the goat . The scapegoat is not intended to escape but instead to be cast out into an uninhabited wilderness to be gone forever from the people. That much is in the actual Law of Moses, as understood by those who performed the ceremony. The Christian interpretation of the scapegoat has seemed obviously that the scapegoat bore all the sins of Israel and so did Christ who outdated the laws of mosses in our time. The bible make it clear that Christ suffered for our sins and paid for them in full. That is the whole point of the Atonement, and that is a core belief of true Christians. And even if He is a goat in this case, the other goat of this pair seems like a much better candidate. After all, he was the one chosen to be for Jehovah , and he was sacrificed to atone for the sins of mankind, as was Christ. If the scapegoat represents Christ who bore all of our sins, then what was the point of the other goat which was sacrificed to pay for them? Most commentators conclude that both goats represent Christ, but have no compelling explanation for the difference between them. The good example of scapegoat is between Barabbas and Jesus. Jesus and Barabbas were judged by Pilate, who found no guilt in him. There was a tradition of releasing one prisoner at Passover. So the governor asked crowd to chosen whom to release among the prisoners, and the they Barabbas to be free. The governors had no answer, but persecute Jesus, and released Barabbas who was the real criminal (Mat. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Action Plan: WESCO should definitely adopt a proactive approach in managing its NA program. An example of this is would include stages like falling in love with a surge of dopamine, or cuddling concludes in serotonin levels being high. Cocaine blocks the reuptake of serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine increasing their consecration in the synapses which amplifies the chemical reactions. In MRI studies, it has been seen that the same pathways are being lit for love and cocaine use. Both love and cocaine effect the reward pathway. Although both reach all areas of the brain the euphoric effects are mediated to a few specific areas such as the prefrontal cortex, nucleus accumbens, and the ventral tegmental area (VTA) (NIH, 2016). ... • 26. Conflict Between Narcissism And Aggression Essay Correspondingly, the propaganda of both Croats and Serbs indulged their populations to believe that each side was responsible for their suffering. Further there is a psychological dimension of the ethnic nationalism that is centered around peoples perceptions when questioning their identity. Conflict is a process driven by collective needs and fears that comes from a psychological aspect. Psychology drives attitudes and behaviours of individuals and groups. Using Freud s analysis, Ignatieff focuses our attention on the relationship between narcissism and aggression. Narcissism is a personality trait that involves arrogant behavior, a lack of empathy for other people, and a need for self admiration. Ignatieff exploration of Freud s analysis conduces him to the assumption that nationalism and narcissism are two allied expressions. He says: A nationalist takes the neutral facts about people their language, habit, culture, tradition, and history and turns these facts into a narrative, whose purpose is to illuminate the self consciousness of a group, to enable them to think of themselves as a nation with a claim to self determination. A nationalist, in other words, takes minor differences indifferent in themselves and transforms them into major differences (45). This passage shows that nationalism is a sort of narcissism. Yugoslavs nationalists wanted a nation where all walks of people in Yugoslavia could live together as one single group. They neglected minor differences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In humanities zeitgeist is defined as the spirit of the times.Throughout the book Bellamy gives the reader different time frames to look at, to help examine the zeitgeist. The time frames presented in the book involve the 19th century and the 20th century. Bellamy distinguishes the time periods through his characters Julian West and Dr. Leete. Leete, the reader gains a better understanding of how much things have changed in the 20th century. The city of Boston, that was once spread out, has changed to more of a compact and busy area. Also, the buildings have changed into more modern structures with technology (pg.55). During his time with Dr. Leete and his family he sees that many things have changed, since the 19th century. One of the major things that have changed is that everyone lives on the same fixed income (pg.96). With their income they are allowed to spend it on whatever they see is important. Compared to the 1800 s there are a variety of shopping stores that sell both; wants and needs. It is also important to note that music has changed, too. During the 19th century it was performed by individuals and bands live, but now one can listen to performers through technology (pg. 97). Even the political and economic systems have changed. For example, they use a method of electing officials by votes of the retired members of guilds (pg.147). Economically the country has gotten rid of private capital and they are able to calculate expected demand for goods and services. This is due to the fact the nation is the only producer of them. Another change involves trade with other countries. There is equality between women and men when it comes to jobs and opportunities. As a society they have put more emphasis on education and what it can provide for an individual, or a society. If the 19th ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Gay, Lesbian And Transgender People Before I begin today, I d like to ask you all a question. Raise your hand if you support the rights of gay, lesbian and transgender people? Well, unless the government were looking for someone to arrest for homosexuality the question I just asked wouldn t have even been posed prior to the 1960 s. Why? Simply because unless you were homosexual, it was assumed everyone in society shunned same sex relationships. 55 years later and there s been a significant amount of change, according to Australian marriage Equality.org 64% of Australians support marriage equality and 81% of young people (18 24 years) support [gay marriage] , however it s far from over, and the road to complete equality still has a few speed bumps to go. These speed bumps consist of groups of people like the homophobic. Homophobia is the fear or hatred towards gay, lesbian and transgender people. People and social groups may feel this way due to religion, parents beliefs or don t understand the ideology behind it. But same sex relationships aren t something that have recently been a hot topic, for many years prior to even white inhabitants in our country, same sex relationships have occurred. In numerous Indigenous tribes, homosexuality was completely forbidden however in some tribes; similar to practices in ancient Greece, unmarried men entered into sexual relationships with youths with the expectation that the relationships would end once they married. Some tribes even believed that particular people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The hunting community ensures that wildlife populations of game species are sustainable from one generation to the next (Gibbons 1). Land can only feed and house so many animals before all life naturally dies off and kills the surrounding area. Once animals are over populated something must be done to restore balance to the ecosystem. Natural selection in the environment is not enough for many animals to keep populations at a manageable rate. This is where hunters come in, hunters help to lower populations in environments to allow other animals and life to thrive in a humane way that costs less than any other method of control. It is common now for ecosystems to become over run with a species of animal that will overtake the area they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each environment can only handle so many animals before the environment crumbles and the over populated animals starve to death and overlap into other animals food and kill off many other animals. Wildlife levels have been on the rise and are now at a point of overflowing their carrying capacities (Emmons 3). So the need for controlling animal populations is growing. Thanks to the increase of population of humans, we are taking more and more land which is making many environments become much smaller or disappear. With the shrinking environments it becomes easier to reach the carrying capacity because the carrying capacity shrinks due to the limited environment they can access. Hunting is now a necessary mechanism for the population control of many wildlife populations (Emmons 3). It is safer and easier for people to open hunting in many places then it is for the government to trap and move animals to different locations where they would survive better. Hunting promotes a better ecological balance so that forests and other landscapes can thrive as a whole along with all of the animals that rely on the same land as those that are over populated. Hunters not only help the environment by controlling populations, they work with conservation and ecological groups to build and conserve wildlife and land. Hunters and environmentalists share a common love, that of beautiful forests and landscapes and watching animals even though their intentions are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. The Key Themes In Animal Farm By George Orwell Animal Farm, an allegorical novel by George Orwell, depicts a very clear picture of the events leading up to the 1917 Russian Revolution and the Stalinist era of the Soviet Union. The techniques Orwell has used when writing this piece allows his robust view points and prominent reoccurring themes to become clear. A couple of themes that stood out the most to me was the use of education and intelligence, as well as corruption of power and leadership to fuel oppression. Orwell uses the imagery of a farm and the farmyard animals to represent Russia and the dominant figures of the time. Other techniques such as satire were also used to portray his opinions and key messages. One of the key themes in Animal Farm was the use of intelligence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Orwell s novel proves that Stalin wasn t the world s first corrupt leader and Trump won t be the last, which is why I have confidence that Animal Farm will always relate to how it is difficult for some to have power without the temptation of abusing it. Further on in the text, the pigs discover a children s book which they use to teach themselves how to read and write. However, when they are finished with the book they destroy it preventing any of the other animals from finding it and becoming equally as smart as the pigs. By using their skills and leadership positions to their advantage, the pigs don t contribute to the physical, labor intensive jobs, but take control of the organization and direction of Manor Farm. This theme of using intelligence and education to manipulate a population is not only prevalent during the time Orwell wrote the novel, but is also significant in the world we live in today. At the beginning of the text, the character Old Major states that in order to move forward the animals must be [in] perfect unity, perfect comradeship in the struggle . When Old Major dies, the animals are left deprived of a leader causing Napoleon and Snowball to fight. Napoleon wins by manipulating the other animals and hence becoming the leader . As the novel progresses, Napoleon continues to gain power and soon appears as a dictator, by oppressing the animals. He used force to brain wash and manipulate the animals, making them work ... This is similar to what an epic poem is. Beowulf is an epic poem, a long narrative poem that is usually about the deeds of a heroic figure. Occasionally stories that are passed down orally through different generations are transformed into epic poems. The people who heard the story of Beowulf experienced it not be text, but by hearing it from scops. Scops were poets who entertained people by memorizing and telling stories like Beowulf. These poets memorized 3,200 lines of the poem. Beowulf is on of the first works of English literature. It might have been recorded in writing in Old English around 700 A.D. by an Anglo Saxon poet.
