Jay Patel Genzyme s CSR Dilemma: How to play its HAND 07 13 2015 Due: Thursday, 16th, 2015
BACKGROUND ABOUT THE COMPANY. Genzyme is an American Biotechnology party based in
Cambridge, Massachusetts. Genzyme is third biggest biotechnology company with over 10,000

Transculturacion
The theory of transculturación was first imagined by Fernando Ortiz of Cuba in 1940. He had
dedicated his life studying his fellow Cubans and their way of life. The phenomenon of
transculturación can best be described as being expres(ando) las diferentes fases del proceso transitivo
de una cultura a otra, el proceso implica también necesariamente la pérdida o desarraigo de una
cultura precedente . In this essay I will be analysing the political changes in Haiti after the French
colonial days as described in Alejo Carpentier s novel El reino de este mundo . Because two strongly
distinctive and contrasting cultures are presented throughout this novel I will be analysing whether or
not the process of transculturación does develop or if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whilst the author in Motivos de Son (1930), writes from the perspective of a black man, in his later
work Songoro Cosongo (1931) the content of his writing develops into writing about the African
American integrated population from a different perspective. Poesía mulata is the term Nicolás
Guillén uses to coin his inditing. It consists of a form of poetry which expresses the unification of both
cultures as they are no longer considered as the black culture or white culture but rather a blend of
both, merging together. In his work of poetry Mulatto verses he even goes further then saying that the
Cubans have influenced the Africans but he goes further then this by expressing the idea that both
cultures may have influenced each other. Nicolás Guillén s work wishes to explore the black
experience in Cuba, he achieves this by internalising and writing as if he were part of that world.
Nevertheless the author remains a white Cuban, thus his point of view is observatory and does not

Verizon is slightly ahead of Sprint s thin roaming list, AT T s 215 country international roaming is

Virgilian Motifs In Shakespeare s The Tempest

Virgilian Motifs in Shakespeare s The Tempest
Shakespeare s comedy, The Tempest, introduces a love story between Miranda, the daughter of the
former duke of Milan, and Ferdinand, the son of the king of Naples. While Miranda and Ferdinand s
love story resembles the pattern of Dido and Aeneas s love story in Virgil s epic poem The Aeneid,
Shakespeare s modification of the old material in the new context alters the tragedy into a happily ever
after, giving the readers an opportunity to reassess the characters through the new context.
The Tempest sets its background location on an island, where Miranda and her father Prospero have
lived for twelve years prior to when the story takes place. Prospero uses to ... Show more content on

In their first sight, both male protagonists recognize both female protagonists as beautiful goddesses.
When Aeneas meets Dido, he praises that [her] features [are] hardly a mortal s looks / and the tone of
[her] voice is hardly human either (Aen. 1. 395 403; Fagles, p. 58). He says that she is undoubtably a
goddess (Aen. 1. 395 403; Fagles, p. 58). Similar scene is found in The Tempest, where Ferdinand
calls Miranda the goddess / On whom these airs attend (Tempest 1. 2. 422; Orgel, p. 124). These two
scenes form a set of parallel between the old story and the new context, and they clearly indicate that
both male protagonists fall in love with both female protagonists when they first meet each other. In
both stories, the storm causes shipwreck and leads the male protagonist to the female protagonist. In
The Tempest, the storm brings Ferdinand to Miranda who lives on an island; similarly, in The Aeneid,
the storm brings Aeneas to Dido who lives in Carthage. Both Ferdinand s ship and Aeneas s ship are
sailing to Italy, yet the storms lead them astray from their destined

Story Of Bottled Water
What is your opinion on the topic after reading/viewing the selection? Do you agree or disagree with
the author? Why or why not?
I watched The Story of Bottled Water . This video s main goal is to persuade you not to buy bottled
water. The producers of the video gave examples showing a bad light on bottled water. One example
highlighted how water bottles were sitting in landfills in India and polluting the world. I agree with the
fact about how it is bad that the bottles are causing pollution. At another point in the video they said
that being seen drinking out of a bottle of water was getting to the same level as being seen smoking
while pregnant. I disagree with that statement. I think that is very extreme and just not true. My
opinion on this topic after watching the video is that the problem is not the bottles of water and their
companies, it is the factories in India that are not actually recycling the bottles. That seems to be the
main problem. Examine the title of the poem. What do you think it means? Read the poem several

Myringotomy With Shrombs Research Paper
Myringotomy With Tubes, Pediatric A myringotomy with tubes is a surgical procedure to drain fluid
from the eardrum and place a tube (pressure equalization tube) in the ear. In this procedure, a small
hole is made in the eardrum. The fluid is drained. Then the pressure equalization tube is placed. This
allows air to flow (ventilation) into the middle ear space. The tube can keep the hole in the eardrum
open for several months. This gives the child s ear condition time to heal and helps prevent more ear
infections. The procedure usually is done in both ears. Children may need this procedure if they get
ear infections often. They also may need it if fluid has built up behind the eardrum. A buildup of fluid
can make it hard for a child to hear. This can delay speech ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

rare unless the procedure is repeated several times. BEFORE THE PROCEDURE Myringotomy is
usually done using medication to make your child sleep during the procedure (general anesthesia). Ask
your health care provider when your child needs to stop eating, drinking, or bottle feeding before
surgery. PROCEDURE This is what may happen during the procedure: Your child will be taken into
the operating room for general anesthesia and surgery. In most cases, your child will get general

The Media s Impact On Public Opinion
The media has always had a powerful impact on public opinion in Britain. With several different types
and means of communication, such as TV, newspapers, social networking and radio, it is difficult for
the public to not be even slightly impacted by the opinion of thousands that surrounds them every day.
However, with newspapers spinning stories to promote the party they favour (such as the Daily Mail
in favour of Conservatives or the Mirror in favour of Labour ) or to disparage the opposition, is it clear
there is any obvious influence from the media towards the public in relation to reporting on British
Politics?
Since January 2001, the total circulation of the UK s ten major national newspapers has declined . It
could be said that the press choose to slander politicians to gain attention from the public to push
sales, rather than inform the public on the real political issues at hand. For example, women s
magazines discuss political issues such as abortion and the tampon tax , rather than commercial
newspapers that publish stories such as scrutinizing politician Jeremy Corbyn for his subtle head nod
at the remembrance Sunday cenotaph. In a declining market for their product, newspaper titles battle
against each other for audiences and advertising revenue in their respective market segments, while
the press as a whole is engaged in competition with other media sectors, such as the news via the
internet, which makes it easier for the public to instantly engage with

The Van Gogh s Life
It was on March 30, 1853, in Groot Zundert, Holland, that Vincent Willem Van Gogh was born to a
preacher and an artist. His father, Theodorus Van Gogh, was described as an austere country minister
who raised his sons in a religious atmosphere, while his mother, Anna Cornelia Carbentus, imparted
on Vincent her love for color and art. While Vincent Van Gogh became known later in time for his
heartbreaking backstory and troubled mind, melancholia remained a continuous theme in his life story
even prior to his birth. In fact, Van Gogh was born exactly one year after Theodorus and Anna s first
son, also named Vincent, was delivered stillborn. This tragic timing led Vincent Van Gogh to grow up
with his name and birthdate already etched onto the headstone of his dead brother. At fifteen years of
age, the Van Gogh family financial troubles forced their son Vincent to leave school and work at his
Uncle s art dealership; even after leaving school this early in his life, Van Gogh was already fluent in
French, German, and English, and had Dutch as his native language. This allowed for no language
barrier when he was transferred to a London art gallery, where he fell in love with both English culture
and Eugine Loyer. The landlady s daughter, who was engaged to another man at the time, became the
first of many heartbreaks in Vincent s life, and her rejection of his marriage proposal sparked a
breakdown for the tenant. After, telling customers not to buy worthless art out of anger,

The Usage Of Law Enforcement Cameras
A career in front of the camera is the dream job for numerous Americas. Little do they know they may
have already been on camera. Every day people in the United States of America are caught in the lens
of law enforcement cameras. These cameras sound nefarious due to their constant watching of people.
However, law enforcement cameras are anything but nefarious as their intent is to stop actions that
may rightly be deemed nefarious. The cameras the law enforcement use may be on the street, a
member of the law enforcement, a police car or a traffic light. With all the cameras, their purpose is
for the good of the people and to enforce laws. However, there is controversy surrounding the usage of
the law enforcement cameras due to how some people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout his article, he discusses both sides of the issue. He begins by stating that many believe
cameras are needed to maintain security in modern times. However, he also mentions that the cameras
are expensive to acquire, maintain and that they are an invasion of privacy. Brasch mentions that with
the cameras there is less overtime paperwork from officers having to defend themselves or explain
how a traffic stop happened in court and that it keeps more people honest (2). Brasch then goes on to
include information about a police department that got rid of the law enforcement cameras in their
department due to the cost and maintenance. He also mentions a police department that will not install
any cameras because they believe it is against individual rights. The author then goes on to include
that the cameras would help clear up situations that are difficult to understand such as police officer
related deaths. Other opinions believe the cameras would not help clear up the controversy caused
when there is shooting incidents. The author concludes that although cameras have pros and cons not
all problems can be solved with them. This article is very informative to read when one wants to be
informed about law enforcement cameras. Brasch provides support for each point he makes on both
sides of the argument. He also maintains a neutral tone in his writing, the only bias coming from the
quotes he takes from sources. However, Brasch does not elaborate long on the opinion that cameras
invade privacy. This is a weakness for his article since the opinion can easily be disproved by looking
to other sources for information. The article Public Video Surveillance: Is It An Effective Crime
Prevention Tool? by Marcus Nieto states that the cameras surveillance is physically

Losing one s hair is one of the many things that makes chemotherapy difficult. In fact, it is estimated
that six percent of cancer patients will refuse to get chemotherapy because they do not want to lose

Hair loss is an outward sign that one is sick. When many people lose their hair, they feel as though
they lose their identity. They often look in the mirror and are not able to recognize themselves. That is

The good news is that there is a new device designed to help reduce chemotherapy induced hair loss.

Color And Symbolism In Doctor Zhivago Film
Doctor Zhivago Unlike The Grand Budapest Hotel where the filmmakers are banking on additional
viewings, Doctor Zhivago decides to use color sparingly, but effectively, on the first viewing. By
doing this, the filmmakers of Doctor Zhivago are ensuring that everyone who watches the film leaves
with an understanding of the color choices; one doesn t have to watch the film multiple times to get it .
The goal of Doctor Zhivago was to illustrate that eternal love and hope amidst war and strife is
possible which is reinforced by connecting war with neutral colors. However, even amongst saddening
times, perseverance will bring about moments of color and positivity. In addition, color can also

Even though Yuri s surroundings are usually neutral, the filmmakers demonstrate Design as

the yellow stands out visually, the audience is able to make the connection that Lara stands out to Yuri
despite the chaos in Moscow. As Yuri looks at the field of daffodils, he himself is reminded of Lara
and smiles. The shot then slowly fades out from the daffodils and transitions onto Lara s face. The
color yellow symbolizes the pulsation of life that has figured throughout the story which ties into how
Zhivago means life (The Art of Film, p. 72 73). In such a war torn setting, these little daffodils
symbolize love, hope, and life among the neutrals and the chaos. The film successfully communicates
the importance of perseverance through the color yellow by slowly slowly sprinkling it throughout the
film, allowing yellow to [acquire] emotional meaning in sequence and in time (The Art of Film, p. 72

In fact, the entirety of the story is built on their daughter, Tanya, listening to their love story. Their

Was Rockefeller A Robber Baron Or A Captain Of Industry
John D. Rockefeller: Robber Baron or Captain of Industry? John D. Rockefeller could be thought of
as both a robber baron and a captain of industry because he did many things throughout his career that
would make you believe this. In my opinion, Rockefeller was more of a captain of industry because he
did a lot of philanthropic work after his retirement from the oil business. Although, he did use illegal
and very unethical tactics in order to gain his wealth, and he completely ran his competitors out of
business. He would do anything to gain more fortune for himself. When people think of John D.
Rockefeller, only one question comes to mind. Was he a robber baron or a captain of industry? In a

Rockefeller was a captain of industry because, unlike a robber baron who is ruthless in their business
practices, he was extremely generous when it came to money. He gave half a billion dollars, which is
more than ⅓ of his total net worth, to multiple different charities. Rockefeller did create an oil
monopoly, which is when a single company or group owns most of a market for a certain product they
are trying to sell, or a company that completely dominates a particular industry. There are some
advantages to creating a monopoly, like the avoidance of duplicated products being sold. They are also
able to avoid competition and be more efficient with the products they are selling because they can
afford to have the latest machinery and technology to help them. There are also some disadvantages.
Consumers can be charged higher prices for lower quality goods, and the lack of competition could
also lead to lower quality goods. Some would say that this is very greedy because monopolies are
usually associated with robber barons, but I think Rockefeller was an exception to this. As a captain of
industry, Rockefeller was in no way greedy with the money he made from his oil

of capital, technology, managerial know how, or marketing skills to carry out production or business

Partly because of their size, MNCs tend to dominate the sectors in which they specialize. As a result,
their transnational business ventures offer much debate about their impact on developing countries;
many arguments have been proposed on this subject alone ( ). This paper will be used to illustrate the
opportunities created by MNCs for less developed countries. A historical account will be presented
identifying the general impact of MNCs on developing countries up to the 21st century. Contemporary
views will also be used for the purpose of evaluating the influence of MNCs in the areas of growth

The earliest version of the modern MNC is visible in the imperialistic and colonizing ventures by
Western Europe, dating back to the 16th century. The modern version of the MNC was apparent with

The Harlem Renaissance By Zora Neale Hurston

The Harlem Renaissance was a period from the end of World War I through the middle of the Great
Depression, during which a group of talented African American writers produced a body of poetry,

contributors to the Harlem Renaissance period. Hourston grew up in this culturally affirming setting
due to her father s mentality, despite frequent confrontations with her preacher father, she lived a

The Detroit Lions And Chicago Lions
The Detroit Lions started the 2016/2017 season on September 11th, with a close win over the
Indianapolis Colts. This game was a major back and forth battle that could ve easily been in favor of
the Indianapolis Colts but instead went to the Detroit Lions with the score of 39 to 35. This game for
sure was a great way to start the season for the Detroit Lions and also showed the potential that they
have going into the season and because of that it raises many questions of how the Detroit Lions are
going to do in the upcoming season. In this essay I will explore the claim that the author uses ethos,
logos, and pathos to express to the audience that years after the great legend Barry Sanders (who
played for the Detroit Lions from 1989 till 1998) the Detroit Lions may once again be a power house
in the run game again. I argue the fact that it is a little too early to make a speculation like that about
the season but only time will tell as the seasons continues.
Now the article, Years after Barry, the Detroit Lions run game pretty sweet again? written by Dave
Birkett starts out by recapping on the Lions vs. Colts game. He then explains throughout the article
about how the Detroit Lions may once again have a strong running force after years of being the worst
when it comes to the run game. He uses stats and also statements from coaches, and players to give the
reader an insight on where he s coming from.

here, there s nothing which can compare to the priceless freedom granted by a self drive road trip. Plus
you can choose the tunes and, let s face it, that s really rather priceless.
We admit, one needs a healthy dose of adventure lust, steely nerves and quite a bit of cash to enjoy a
fantastic road trip in Costa Rica, but the rewards of undertaking such an adventure are simply
sensational. The country s most enticing attractions are way off the beaten path, hidden at the end of
pot holed roads, winding forest tracks and far away from civilization. Besides, the scenery along every
road in Costa Rica, whether on the coast or interior, is utterly breathtaking. Having the freedom to just

Thrill seeking daredevils take on the challenge of the Monkey Trail during dry season every year. This
is one of Costa Rica s most perfidious roads, although road is a bit of a stretch. With four river
crossing and very steep gravel stretches, this is about as extreme as Costa Rica gets, and only
advisable for experienced and return visitors. But boy is it fun! The variation in Costa Rica is also
very unique. In just a single day, you could be cruising along spectacular beach roads, gravel trails
through thick forests and winding mountain pass roads. Even if you skip the hard bits and stick to well
paved roads, you re bound to have a sensational time. The most enjoyable parts, for many, is stopping

Comparing Oroonoko And The Vampyre
The philosophical question of whether humans are inherently evil or inherently good is a constant
reminder of the inevitable influence that outside forces can have on a person. Are people susceptible to
evilness or do we simply learn evilness from our corrupt and undesirable surroundings? This question
is addressed in both Oroonoko by Aphra Behn and The Vampyre: A Tale by John William Polidori,
where the theme of Betrayal is the inevitable soul of each story. The main focal point of Oroonoko
follows the lies, deceit, and betrayal that the honorable Prince Oroonoko faces. The narrator describes
him as someone whose honour was such as he never had violated a word in his life himself, much less
a solemn asseveration, (Behn, 123). Aphra Behn focuses on the theme of betrayal on account of the

Oroonoko was facing the same discrepancies as English political figures by not receiving the
honorable recognition he was born to receive, and having stronger outside forces, like the captain and
his crew, come into his life and dictate his path. Behn uses Oroonoko s character and the theme of
Betrayal in order to reconcile both primitive and European culture to show the similarities of these
different cultures. Oroonoko is deceived and tricked by the sea captain to board his ship, only to
realize too late that it was a scheme of enslavement. Here on, the honorable Prince and his crew is
shackled and ripped from their homeland and transported to Suriname, a continent light years away.
Come, my fellow slaves, let us descent and see if we can meet with more honor and honesty

Meaning In Art
The meaning of a unadorned sculpture that one passes by on a routine bases, can end up having a
much more monumental and deep meaning than what an individual may have discerned. Untitled is
just one example of the multiple pieces of artwork that stands tall throughout the Lewis and Clark
Community College campus. A strong representation of many different feelings is given off to the
buildings, its surroundings, and the students and faculty that walk among it. Each physical
characteristic comes together to design the horse and can be analyzed to have meanings like
recognition, nobility, and guidance. Outside Trimpe Hall on Lewis and Clark Community College
campus sits a majestic, light brown, wood colored figure. It is placed directly on the ground, along the
side of a little stone pathway. Little patches of grass are peeking up through the mulch. The shape of
the statue resembles that of a horse. As you move closer to the artwork you notice pieces of logs are
carved in a perfect way in order to intertwine between each other leaving just the right amount of
spaces in between. The front end, which faces the parking lot, is slightly facing downwards, as if it
were avoiding something in the distance. The horse has a strong stance with a sturdy body structure.
Architecturally, the horse holds a beautiful and artistic role on the campus. Each characteristic that the
artist uses to make up the horse has a reasoning behind it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Benefits Of Higher Education
A higher education can help with people s emotional state and the health of that person. There is also
the case that you don t have to be in college for that long to start working and gain a high paying
wage. And. beyond money, education seems to make people happier and healthier
(D). Not only does seeking a higher education gets you a higher paying wage it also makes you a
happier person. This could work by the interaction with fellow students on the campus and more
knowledge than the average human. Money isn t the only reason why people are happier after college
it is also that getting that higher education helps boost their confidence about themselves. When

When gaining a higher education the wage is actually going down not up. On the graph it shows that
from 2001 to 2010 the wage difference is slowly declining(Source C). The graph is showing that when
looking at how much a college graduates makes after college it isn t as much as it use to be. There isn
t going to be a substantial wage growth for the new college graduates. A higher education may not be
what everyone thinks it is, being a source to making more money when you get out of high school.
When the wages are going down for the college graduates, then it becomes apparent how expensive
college really is. College cost is exceedingly high as of right now and may become higher as time goes
by. Both cost and demand for college education have grown significantly in the years since Mr. Thiel
was a student. He sees that rise as irrational (E). College is starting to become more expensive and it
doesn t make sense that it is according to Mr. Thiel. There is no way to see if it will get higher, but if it
does then is college really worth the price. The price of college is going up and the wage for new
college graduates is starting to decrease. People are starting to realize this and just want to start
making money to support a family as soon as they can. Two thirds say a major reason for not
continuing their education is the need to support a family. Also 57 percent say they would prefer to

James Berger s After The End
Reading Response on James Berger s monograph After the End James Berger s After the End:
Representations of Post Apocalypse gives a detailed and broad overview of specific representations of
post apocalypses in American culture. In the three parts of the book, Berger focuses on the
problematic of post apocalyptic representation, representations of the Holocaust and post apocalyptic
phenomena in recent American culture. In the first part, he examines post apocalyptic representation
as a paradoxical, oxymoronic discourse (19) and connects apocalypse with the idea of trauma,
describing these post apocalyptic representations as symptoms of historical trauma. Additional, he
includes the figures of the angel and the survivor in his analysis as post traumatic [and] post

He uses two novels to better interpret how the traumas of the holocaust are anchored in western
societies and to depict how the end would look like, namely like apocalypses that already occurred. In
the third part, Berger turns to more recent post apocalyptic phenomena of American culture, analyzing
Reaganism as the most conspicuous and politically powerful instance of [...] American post
apocalypticism (134). Reaganism sees America as an already achieved utopia, meaning the apocalypse
has already happened and therefore also traumas were generated, which were largely disavowed.
However, Berger puts the 1960s in contrast to Reaganism as apocalyptic because of their critique of
American history (cf. 140) and additional depicts the social disintegration of this period as its main
trauma (156). The analysis of two post apocalyptic novels concerning their historical traumas
underlines his findings of the third part and give evidence of, nostalgia, the repetition of traumas and
social movements. In the epilogue, Berger finally concludes that the process of rebuilding traumas
continues in American post apocalyptic culture and

Miscommunication In Oleanna Play
Oleanna by David Mamet is a two character play in which the issue of miscommunications and
excessive political correctness is explored in the matter of 3 Acts. The play is about student teacher
relationships and sexual harassment. The topic discussed in this play could be considered very
sensitive which causes Oleanna to become a controversial text. This play was written in 1990 s not
only did it spark a great deal of controversy but also stimulated discussions and arguments. If this text
had been written in the 21st century the context of this play would differ in many ways based on the
way communication has changed, the way modern society reacts to topics such as sexual harassment,

How Corruption Varies With Culture
Corruption varies with culture Introduction Mr. Biswas, Mr. Lee and Mr. Lai are the natives of
different countries. While doing business they face various difficulties due to corruption. It is hard to
understand the practice of tipping in discrete cultures. In their country, organizations have to pay bribe
in form of money or gift to the government officials to get their work done in an appropriate time to
get the advantage over their competitors as well as to reduce their tax burdens. But due to difference in
culture norms and values it is complicated to say that which activity is considered as immoral,
unethical or illegal. Q 1) Corruption means actions taken to get personal benefits by providing goods

Hence, in some other countries organizations want the purchasing agent to deal with their companion
or friends due to strong level of trust. He doesn t even check their financial information, as they
believe that it will disrespect others (Hooker 2003). Tipping refers to giving money as a gift to the
workers with a good intention or when satisfied with the services provided by them (Lynn 1988). As
Pearl (1985) states that consumers gives tips more then $9 billion annually in US. These tips are given
mostly to those people who provide services such as bartenders, hairdressers, bellhops, designers, taxi
drivers, delivery person (Star 1988). Tipping is an interesting form of consumer behavior and a major
economic activity. Tipping in the private sector is a form of corruption as Eicher (2005) illustrates
three criteria s (a) The payment is optional and not compulsory (b) The size of payment can be
bargained (c) Trust and social contract has not been broken. As, corruption contravenes all three
conditions but tipping doesn t as it is largely depend on social norms and customs. It is done due to

The Psychology Of Addictions Of Freud And Halsted
Addictions are when a person cannot control their actions or urges when dealing with the object of
their addiction.
Addictions are sometimes formed from habits. For example, if you take a drug for a medical condition
then you may develop an addiction to the drug.
Sigmund Freud, born 1856 and William Halsted, born 1852, are considered two main contributors to
the psychology of addictions. The 1880s is when Freud and Halsted s experimentation with cocaine
started, as they were unaware that cocaine is extremely addictive, they became addicted to it
themselves.
One of the effects of being addicted to something is tolerance. Tolerance occurs when, after some time
taking a drug, your body becomes desensitized to it, making it so more is necessary

Mary Wollstonecraft Metaphors
~ The utilization of metaphors and similes throughout Mary Wollstonecraft s piece conveys the
argument that she poses to society. The added effect of the powerful metaphors incorporated into her
writing is evidently necessary in order to illuminate her main viewpoints. Mary Wollstonecraft
compares the way women act to mere animals and the way such children should be expected to act .
The comparison between mere animals and women depicts how society has stripped away women s
dignity by poorly educating them. She further explains that women are portrayed as acting like
children and are not able to act like stable adults in their relationships. To Wollstonecraft, women were
currently seen as ignorant as they would nickname God s creatures ... Show more content on

Mary Wollstonecraft adds on to her argument by comparing the way women were viewed as
insignificant objects of desire by their male counterparts. At the time, society crafted women into
physical entities for men that would provide pleasures for them at any time they wished. Without the
proper education, women could do little to prove themselves to be worth more than just objects. The
metaphor that Wollstonecraft utilized was key in advocating for the education of women as it
represented how they were defenseless and only seen to be slaves in the eyes of men. She comparison
is vital to the piece as she is stating how women were seen in her time and how there needed to be
reform in order to improve their stance in society. Moreover, she illuminates that once women short
lived bloom of beauty is over, they will be useless in their relationships. She compares the minimal
importance of beauty in a relationship of that of a flower. Beauty only gets women so far in a
relationship, and education will improve women s roles in the relationship. She presents the metaphor

Student Athletic Policy Paper
Many policies in interscholastic sports may be controversial none more so than the play to play or
activity fee for student athletes. In this paper, three policies at Enterprise High School and Enterprise
City Schools are discussed. From the activity fee students are paying, fundraising being part of head
coaches duties, and finally the existence of multiple booster clubs for the athletic department.
Enterprise High School does not have a formal handbook for athletic. When asked the athletic director
Trent Trawick response was the athletic department at Enterprise does not need a handbook for
athletics. We comply with all Alabama High School Athletic Association bylaws and Enterprise city

Each sport assesses an activity fee. For example, if a student athlete plays basketball and runs track
that athlete or their family will pay two separate fees, one for each sport. The activity fees are typically
around three hundred dollars, however the EHS athletic director does not mandate an amount. It is up
to the head coach to decided how much an activity fee is and what the proceeds will be used for. If a
lower income family has multiple athletes play a variety of sports the current activity fee format may
seem as an extreme difficulty which ultimately can harm sports participation. To ensure equitable
participation across all income levels, barriers to sports participation that may disproportionately
affect lower income students such as pay to play fees, equipment costs or lack of school supported
transportation, need to be addressed. (Colabianchi, 2012). Student athlete can ease the tension of the

the Platano Curtain, he acted like it was his very own plantation, acted like he owned everything and

their husbands on wedding nights and then would brag publicly about the great honeymoon he had the
night before. His eye was everywhere; he had a secret police that out stasi d the stasi, that kept watch

Narrative Essay About A Water Ride
Personal Narrative Draft 4:
In this story I will be talking about the amazing water ride in Universal studios, Singapore. I still
remember till this day, how many times I rode that ride. For last 7 years we have been going to a lot of
amusement parks like 6 Flags, Disneyland, MGM Studio, Lego Land, Epcot Center,Etc. When me, my
mom, my dad, and my sister jumped in the car, I was as ready as can be.
I was very excited when I read the map of Universal Studio. All of a sudden I became greedy and
wanted to go to the Harry Potter ride, Transformer ride, Indiana jones ride, Star wars ride, etc. While
we did all the rides, me and my Mom were doing some of the scary rides, while my dad and my sister
were doing some kid rides. My whole family continues this for hours until we came to the last ride.
Splash Mountain. I wish this wasn t the last ride. It looked so awesome and thrilling, I thought.
Unfortunately I was correct. Anyways, when we reached the ride location, the waiting time on the gate
read 3 hours!!! Me and my Dad stared at other people go down, screaming, yelling, and getting wet on
the HUGE slide. Me and my Dad were tempted to go on that stunning water ride. Weirdly many
people were looking at me.

Texas Annual Budget
The discussion of Texas and its legislature procedures has been an arising issue for a few decades now.
The State of Texas meets every 140 days like three other States; Montana, Nevada, and North Dakota
(Fernandez 2013). All of these States including Texas hold session every other year. There have been
some basic arguments brought up on both sides of the subject, but I m a supporter in changing the way
Texas holds sessions. The discussion of Texas being well served as a biennial legislature brings to
light a few issues that I believe should be addressed. I am all for a small government but Texas is too
big of a State, and it has too much economic diversity to not be looking at annual budgets. The format
Texas uses is way outdated. Texas population has grown in 137 years from I million ... Show more

The responsibilities of the legislature have become so demanding to where they can no longer be seen
on an alternate year basis. Some of the benefits for going to an annual session would be: More
meetings which would help to raise the position of legislature, and thereby help to check the flow of
power to the executive branch. I am also convinced that having an annual session would be beneficial
for the oversight of the administration, and it would put administrative accountability for the execution
of legislative policies to be easily enforced. The States may respond more rapidly to new federal laws
which require state participation Annual session would eliminate the need for any special sessions The
annual sessions may help policy making process more timely and orderly There are always a couple of
bills that end up failing to get heard or advanced because of the way Texas holds sessions. Here are a

Virgilian Motifs In Shakespeare s The Tempest Zhenni Zhu Professor Stieber HSS 1 23 December 2014 Virgilian Motifs in Shakespeare s The Tempest Shakespeare s comedy, The Tempest, introduces a love story between Miranda, the daughter of the former duke of Milan, and Ferdinand, the son of the king of Naples. While Miranda and Ferdinand s love story resembles the pattern of Dido and Aeneas s love story in Virgil s epic poem The Aeneid, Shakespeare s modification of the old material in the new context alters the tragedy into a happily ever after, giving the readers an opportunity to reassess the characters through the new context. When Aeneas meets Dido, he praises that [her] features [are] hardly a mortal s looks / and the tone of [her] voice is hardly human either (Aen. 1. 395 403; Fagles, p. 58). He says that she is undoubtably a goddess (Aen. 1. 395 403; Fagles, p. 58). Similar scene is found in The Tempest, where Ferdinand calls Miranda the goddess / On whom these airs attend (Tempest 1. 2. 422; Orgel, p. 124). These two scenes form a set of parallel between the old story and the new context, and they clearly indicate that both male protagonists fall in love with both female protagonists when they first meet each other. In both stories, the storm causes shipwreck and leads the male protagonist to the female protagonist. • 8. Story Of Bottled Water What is your opinion on the topic after reading/viewing the selection? Do you agree or disagree with the author? Why or why not? I watched The Story of Bottled Water . This video s main goal is to persuade you not to buy bottled water. The producers of the video gave examples showing a bad light on bottled water. One example highlighted how water bottles were sitting in landfills in India and polluting the world. I agree with the fact about how it is bad that the bottles are causing pollution. At another point in the video they said that being seen drinking out of a bottle of water was getting to the same level as being seen smoking while pregnant. I disagree with that statement. I think that is very extreme and just not true. My opinion on this topic after watching the video is that the problem is not the bottles of water and their companies, it is the factories in India that are not actually recycling the bottles. That seems to be the main problem. Examine the title of the poem. What do you think it means? Read the poem several times, then look at the title again. What do you think it means now? ... In this procedure, a small hole is made in the eardrum. The fluid is drained. Then the pressure equalization tube is placed. This allows air to flow (ventilation) into the middle ear space. The tube can keep the hole in the eardrum open for several months. This gives the child s ear condition time to heal and helps prevent more ear infections. The procedure usually is done in both ears. • 10. The Media s Impact On Public Opinion The media has always had a powerful impact on public opinion in Britain. With several different types and means of communication, such as TV, newspapers, social networking and radio, it is difficult for the public to not be even slightly impacted by the opinion of thousands that surrounds them every day. However, with newspapers spinning stories to promote the party they favour (such as the Daily Mail in favour of Conservatives or the Mirror in favour of Labour ) or to disparage the opposition, is it clear there is any obvious influence from the media towards the public in relation to reporting on British Politics? Since January 2001, the total circulation of the UK s ten major national newspapers has declined . It could be said that the press choose to slander politicians to gain attention from the public to push sales, rather than inform the public on the real political issues at hand. For example, women s magazines discuss political issues such as abortion and the tampon tax , rather than commercial newspapers that publish stories such as scrutinizing politician Jeremy Corbyn for his subtle head nod at the remembrance Sunday cenotaph. In a declining market for their product, newspaper titles battle against each other for audiences and advertising revenue in their respective market segments, while the press as a whole is engaged in competition with other media sectors, such as the news via the internet, which makes it easier for the public to instantly engage with ... • 11. The Van Gogh s Life It was on March 30, 1853, in Groot Zundert, Holland, that Vincent Willem Van Gogh was born to a preacher and an artist. His father, Theodorus Van Gogh, was described as an austere country minister who raised his sons in a religious atmosphere, while his mother, Anna Cornelia Carbentus, imparted on Vincent her love for color and art. While Vincent Van Gogh became known later in time for his heartbreaking backstory and troubled mind, melancholia remained a continuous theme in his life story even prior to his birth. In fact, Van Gogh was born exactly one year after Theodorus and Anna s first son, also named Vincent, was delivered stillborn. This tragic timing led Vincent Van Gogh to grow up with his name and birthdate already etched onto the headstone of his dead brother. At fifteen years of age, the Van Gogh family financial troubles forced their son Vincent to leave school and work at his Uncle s art dealership; even after leaving school this early in his life, Van Gogh was already fluent in French, German, and English, and had Dutch as his native language. This allowed for no language barrier when he was transferred to a London art gallery, where he fell in love with both English culture and Eugine Loyer. The landlady s daughter, who was engaged to another man at the time, became the first of many heartbreaks in Vincent s life, and her rejection of his marriage proposal sparked a breakdown for the tenant. Every day people in the United States of America are caught in the lens of law enforcement cameras. These cameras sound nefarious due to their constant watching of people. However, law enforcement cameras are anything but nefarious as their intent is to stop actions that may rightly be deemed nefarious. The cameras the law enforcement use may be on the street, a member of the law enforcement, a police car or a traffic light. However, he also mentions that the cameras are expensive to acquire, maintain and that they are an invasion of privacy. Brasch mentions that with the cameras there is less overtime paperwork from officers having to defend themselves or explain how a traffic stop happened in court and that it keeps more people honest (2). Brasch then goes on to include information about a police department that got rid of the law enforcement cameras in their department due to the cost and maintenance. He also mentions a police department that will not install any cameras because they believe it is against individual rights. The author then goes on to include that the cameras would help clear up situations that are difficult to understand such as police officer related deaths. Other opinions believe the cameras would not help clear up the controversy caused when there is shooting incidents. The author concludes that although cameras have pros and cons not all problems can be solved with them. This article is very informative to read when one wants to be informed about law enforcement cameras. Brasch provides support for each point he makes on both sides of the argument. He also maintains a neutral tone in his writing, the only bias coming from the quotes he takes from sources. However, Brasch does not elaborate long on the opinion that cameras invade privacy. Rockefeller did create an oil monopoly, which is when a single company or group owns most of a market for a certain product they are trying to sell, or a company that completely dominates a particular industry. There are some advantages to creating a monopoly, like the avoidance of duplicated products being sold. They are also able to avoid competition and be more efficient with the products they are selling because they can afford to have the latest machinery and technology to help them. There are also some disadvantages. Consumers can be charged higher prices for lower quality goods, and the lack of competition could also lead to lower quality goods. This game was a major back and forth battle that could ve easily been in favor of the Indianapolis Colts but instead went to the Detroit Lions with the score of 39 to 35. This game for sure was a great way to start the season for the Detroit Lions and also showed the potential that they have going into the season and because of that it raises many questions of how the Detroit Lions are going to do in the upcoming season. • 31. Mary Wollstonecraft Metaphors ~ The utilization of metaphors and similes throughout Mary Wollstonecraft s piece conveys the argument that she poses to society. The added effect of the powerful metaphors incorporated into her writing is evidently necessary in order to illuminate her main viewpoints. Mary Wollstonecraft compares the way women act to mere animals and the way such children should be expected to act . The comparison between mere animals and women depicts how society has stripped away women s dignity by poorly educating them. She further explains that women are portrayed as acting like children and are not able to act like stable adults in their relationships. To Wollstonecraft, women were currently seen as ignorant as they would nickname God s creatures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mary Wollstonecraft adds on to her argument by comparing the way women were viewed as insignificant objects of desire by their male counterparts. At the time, society crafted women into physical entities for men that would provide pleasures for them at any time they wished. Without the proper education, women could do little to prove themselves to be worth more than just objects. The metaphor that Wollstonecraft utilized was key in advocating for the education of women as it represented how they were defenseless and only seen to be slaves in the eyes of men. She comparison is vital to the piece as she is stating how women were seen in her time and how there needed to be reform in order to improve their stance in society. Moreover, she illuminates that once women short lived bloom of beauty is over, they will be useless in their relationships. She compares the minimal importance of beauty in a relationship of that of a flower. Beauty only gets women so far in a relationship, and education will improve women s roles in the relationship. • 34. Student Athletic Policy Paper Many policies in interscholastic sports may be controversial none more so than the play to play or activity fee for student athletes. In this paper, three policies at Enterprise High School and Enterprise City Schools are discussed. From the activity fee students are paying, fundraising being part of head coaches duties, and finally the existence of multiple booster clubs for the athletic department. Enterprise High School does not have a formal handbook for athletic. When asked the athletic director Trent Trawick response was the athletic department at Enterprise does not need a handbook for athletics. We comply with all Alabama High School Athletic Association bylaws and Enterprise city school board policies. (Trawick, 2017). The policies discussed in this paper are from Enterprise school board policies and job descriptions for head coaches. It is important for schools to maintain proper policies and procedures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each sport assesses an activity fee. For example, if a student athlete plays basketball and runs track that athlete or their family will pay two separate fees, one for each sport. The activity fees are typically around three hundred dollars, however the EHS athletic director does not mandate an amount. It is up to the head coach to decided how much an activity fee is and what the proceeds will be used for. If a lower income family has multiple athletes play a variety of sports the current activity fee format may seem as an extreme difficulty which ultimately can harm sports participation. To ensure equitable participation across all income levels, barriers to sports participation that may disproportionately affect lower income students such as pay to play fees, equipment costs or lack of school supported transportation, need to be addressed. (Colabianchi, 2012). Student athlete can ease the tension of the sport activity fee through fundraising for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay about Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao Jeffrey Fisher Final Paper Eng 102 Professor Peterson Trujillo and the Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao is not a happy book. The Author, Junot Diaz, does a great job fooling the reader into believing the story is about the De Leon family, specifically Oscar who is an over weight nerd trying to find the love of his life, but due to a family fuku or curse Oscar is having a lot of trouble doing so. Instead, the story actually portrays the dark history of the Dominican Republic under the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo. Upon reading the stories of Oscar s relatives the reader feels a powerful message of fear and oppression due to the actions of the Trujillo regime. Even after the demise of ... Since Trujillo s henchmen disposed of opponents this way (Abrams, P. 13), he was accused of slandering Trujillo. Abelard spent the rest of his life tortured in prison and all records of his writing and identity were completely demolished by Trujillo and company. Both these stories show the power Trujillo had on his people. Trujillo wanted to make his presence felt everywhere in the Dominican Republic. This is shown when Diaz states Homeboy dominated Santo Domingo like it was his very own private Mordor; not only did he lock the country away from the rest of the world, isolate it behind the Platano Curtain, he acted like it was his very own plantation, acted like he owned everything and everyone, killed whomever he wanted to kill, sons, brothers, fathers, mothers, took women away from their husbands on wedding nights and then would brag publicly about the great honeymoon he had the night before. His eye was everywhere; he had a secret police that out stasi d the stasi, that kept watch on everyone, even those everyone s who lived in the states; a security apparatus so ridiculously mongoose that you could say a bad thing about El Jefe at eight forty in the morning and before the clock struck ten you d be in the Cuarenta having a cattleprod shoved up your ass. • 36. Narrative Essay About A Water Ride Personal Narrative Draft 4: In this story I will be talking about the amazing water ride in Universal studios, Singapore. I still remember till this day, how many times I rode that ride. For last 7 years we have been going to a lot of amusement parks like 6 Flags, Disneyland, MGM Studio, Lego Land, Epcot Center,Etc. When me, my mom, my dad, and my sister jumped in the car, I was as ready as can be. I was very excited when I read the map of Universal Studio. All of a sudden I became greedy and wanted to go to the Harry Potter ride, Transformer ride, Indiana jones ride, Star wars ride, etc. While we did all the rides, me and my Mom were doing some of the scary rides, while my dad and my sister were doing some kid rides. My whole family continues this for hours until we came to the last ride. Splash Mountain. I wish this wasn t the last ride. It looked so awesome and thrilling, I thought. Unfortunately I was correct. Anyways, when we reached the ride location, the waiting time on the gate read 3 hours!!! Me and my Dad stared at other people go down, screaming, yelling, and getting wet on the HUGE slide. Me and my Dad were tempted to go on that stunning water ride. Weirdly many people were looking at me. Hey. Bro. Your braces are really cool. Where did you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 37. Texas Annual Budget The discussion of Texas and its legislature procedures has been an arising issue for a few decades now. The State of Texas meets every 140 days like three other States; Montana, Nevada, and North Dakota (Fernandez 2013). All of these States including Texas hold session every other year. There have been some basic arguments brought up on both sides of the subject, but I m a supporter in changing the way Texas holds sessions. The discussion of Texas being well served as a biennial legislature brings to light a few issues that I believe should be addressed. I am all for a small government but Texas is too big of a State, and it has too much economic diversity to not be looking at annual budgets. The format Texas uses is way outdated. The responsibilities of the legislature have become so demanding to where they can no longer be seen on an alternate year basis. Some of the benefits for going to an annual session would be: More meetings which would help to raise the position of legislature, and thereby help to check the flow of power to the executive branch. I am also convinced that having an annual session would be beneficial for the oversight of the administration, and it would put administrative accountability for the execution of legislative policies to be easily enforced. The States may respond more rapidly to new federal laws which require state participation Annual session would eliminate the need for any special sessions The annual sessions may help policy making process more timely and orderly There are always a couple of bills that end up failing to get heard or advanced because of the way Texas holds sessions.
