(where things get smaller and farther away until they disappear)

(lines that move towards the vanishing point)

We use them in art to create the illusion of DEPTH, FORM and SPACE!


Let’s Try One-Point Perspective!


Step 1:
Draw a shape anywhere on your page

Step 2:
Draw orthogonal lines from each corner to the vanishing point

parallel lines - same angle!

Step 3:
Draw lines parallel to the sides of each shape to show how long they will be.


Step 4:
Add darker lines along orthogonals to complete your shapes!


Step 5:
Erase your orthogonal lines.


Step 6:
You’re done! Add details to make things interesting! Remember your orthogonal lines to
make objects recede!

Let’s Try Two-Point Perspective!


You can also use TWO vanishing points!
This is called Two-Point Perspective!


Step 1:
Begin with a line! (This “line” is the corner of a shape)


Step 2:
Draw orthogonal lines from both ends of your line to each vanishing point.


Step 3:
Draw parallel lines to the corner of your shape that determine how long and
wide your shape will be.

Step 4:
Draw darker lines over your orthogonal lines to complete the shape.


Step 5:
Erase your orthogonal lines!


Step 6:
You’re done! Add details to make things interesting!
Remember your orthogonal lines to make objects recede!
