The Care Of Heart Failure Patients Essay
Does the Use of Telemonitoring in the Care of Heart Failure Patients Reduce Hospitalization?
The heart is a vital organ that the body needs in order to survive and according to the Center for
Disease Control (CDC) 5.7 million people in the United States suffer from heart failure (HF) and
about half of heart failure patients die within five years of diagnosis, (CDC, n.d.). Heart failure is the
inability of the heart to pump blood sufficiently in order to meet the body s need. Heart failure is the
main reason for inpatient hospitalization and readmission in adults over 65 years old (Smith, 2013).
Advances in technology continue to change the practice of nursing and healthcare. Telemonitoring is
one major advance in technology that is changing the role and practice of nursing today.
Telemonitoring involves healthcare workers remotely monitoring patient s vital signs daily with the
goal of early detection of deteriorating conditions. This systematic review will present available data
regarding telemonitoring in heart failure patients and hospitalization.

How Is Fahrenheit 451 Similar To The Real World
Fahrenheit 451 society and the Real World (option 2) Society. A society is a group of people and a
community involved in persistent social interaction, or a large social grouping sharing the same
geographical or social territory, typically subject to the same political authority and dominant cultural
expectations. But when you think of equality, how far should society go to insure equality? Many
people believes that every person deserves to be treated fairly and equally in society. Should a society
take away a person s freedom to make sure that every person is treated fairly and equally? Fahrenheit
451 is a story where society has gone ultimately strict, where society controll the people s freedom
and choice to make sure everyone is equal. Even though this story is very different from the real
world, it has some similarities with the real world. This essay will explain the differences and
similarities from the society of Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury s and the real world. They are
different because society in Fahrenheit 451 ban books and firemen burns books and start fire, but they

The Innocence of Daisy Miller Essay
In 1878, Henry James wrote, Daisy Miller, a novella about a young American girl and her travels in
Europe. Daisy Miller is a complex short story with many underlying themes such as appearance
versus reality, knowledge versus innocence, outward action versus inward meditation, and Nature
versus urbanity. In this short story, one is left to judge whether Daisy Miller, the main character of the
story, is a pretty American flirt or a misunderstood, modern young woman. By probing into the
complexities and contradictions of Daisy s character, it is obvious that Ms. Miller is merely a
misunderstood young woman.
Through his novel, Henry James shows his readers that the gap between what people believe to be true
and the actual truth can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He decides a pretty American flirt would be acceptable for him to know. Mainly he wants an excuse to
spend time with her. His desire for her to be innocent and undesigning reflects not only on her true
personality but also on his lust for her.
Mrs. Costello s character symbolizes old money and culture, even though she is American, and thus
sets up a stark contrast to Daisy Miller, a character devoid of much ritual or formality. Mrs. Costello
had lived much of her life in Europe and had kept a society so intentionally exclusive in America that
she has separated herself from any of the qualities associated with the innocence and natural
spontaneity of an American.
She believes the Miller s to be common and tells Winterbourne to stay away from them. However,
Daisy represents to Winterbourne what he lacks, standing as a metaphor of what all of Europe lacks,
as long as Daisy does not go too far with her social freedom.
Winterbourne is largely blinded to the honesty and innocence that Daisy imparts because he has
trouble recognizing a manner that has become foreign to him. Thus when Daisy walks calmly along
with both Giovanelli and Winterbourne in the Pincio and does not seem anxious to get rid of
Winterbourne, Winterbourne is perplexed (36 37). He does not realize that she does not know better
and she will ruin herself because of it.

The effects of green fluorescent protein on E. coli bacteria
Introduction:
Genetic transformation occurs when genes are inserted into another gene to change the organism s
trait (Weedman2016). In this experiment, we proceeded to transform the E. coli bacteria with a gene
that contained green fluorescent protein. The green fluorescent protein is used in experiments because
it beams a green color under a UV light (Chalfie2008). Typically, it is used to mark the expression of
genes, which is why it serves as the symbol for all gene expressions (Tsien1998). In the experiment,
we will be using pGLO as the organisms that will transmit the disease, otherwise known as a vector.

Ester Lucero Essay
Cassie Essary Tim Petete Ethnic American Literature November 12, 2009 Angel s Psyche in Ester
Lucero One of the most fascinating aspects of any story is the formation of it scharacters. The way the
author chooses to describe them, give them personalities, is how the reader will see their lives. A
character s psyche and the way he thinks about events around him change the way a reader perceives
the story. Authors have an amazing chance to shape and bend a story to fit what they want it to be
through the characterization of the people they write about. If an author is incapable of making
characters believable and understandable, the story won t survive. In Isabel Allende s Ester Lucero ,
Angel is described in a way that makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, Angel seems to have fixated on Ester as a way of getting past his ownproblems. Ester became
something that he desperately wanted, but could never allow himself to have. She was a child, and he
would not allow himself to touch her for that reason, and because his obsession with her is what keeps
him going. Ester became the focus of all his attention so he didn t have to deal with anything else in
his life. Another issue with Angel is the fact that he has a bullet in his groin. The women of the town
question his masculinity and begin to wonder if maybe the malaria or that bullet he has there in his
crotch rid him forever of a taste for women (Pearson 10). They don t realize that he has become
completely engrossed with Ester and therefore uninterested in the other women of the town. Since
Angel does have a bullet in his groin, and purposefully chose an unavailable girl to fixate on, it makes
the reader wonder if the bullet did cause some sort of dysfunction. Perhaps the reason that Angel
deliberately chose a girl that he could never have was because he knew women wouldn t want him if
they knew that he was impotent. Early on, when it is Angel s turn with a bride for the moment he
found no consolation ...he would have to search for that girl, if for no other reason than to determine
whether she was a mirage (Pearson 9). This passage

Derrick s own fleet of refrigerated trucks to six major wholesale distributors.
Annual sales are currently around the £10m level, distributed among the wholesalers as indicated in

The cold stores cost is approximately £500000 p.a. to run, but excess capacity can be hired out to
other non competing firms.
The requirement of meeting the sometimes uniquely specific requirements of customers has been
causing Derrick s management some serious headaches recently. They recognize the importance of a
client focused approach to marketing and distribution, but are beginning to feel that they are being
exploited by some customers who are never satisfied with the level of service provided, however
extensive it may be and this is costing them a lot of money.
So, to analyze the current situation we will form a BCG matrix and recommend decision on its results.
BCG matrix will help us to examine distributors in he company s portfolio on the basis of their related
market share and industry growth rates.
In other words, it is a comparative analysis of business potential and the evaluation of environment.
According to this matrix, business could be classified as high or low according to their industry
growth rate and relative market share.

My Personal Strengths And Strengths
Trying to decide what your personal strengths are, is hard. For myself, I have grown in my strengths,
and I ve experienced my weaknesses. My personal strengths consist of: positivity, encouragement,
laughter, and love. I pick these four because I feel that I am truly strongest in these aspects of my life.
Being positive is a big factor in everything I do. I always want to be happy and joyful; not only to
display Christ in me, but to make others feel the way I do. I want others to appreciate life and to feel
any kind of uplift in his or her spirt. Positivity plays into encouragement. I make it my goal to make
others feel better about themselves. My goal coming into college was to learn and know every
person(s) name that I got the chance to meet. Just taking a few minutes out of your day to truly get to
know someone, is such a blessing. It not only blesses me in new friendships, but it also blesses others
because they feel that someone genuinely cares about them. Laughter is another characteristic I strive
to pour out onto others. I laugh at practically everything. I love to laugh, and I love to make people
laugh. I ve learned the importance of laughter, and I just want to make one person smile every day.
Love is my last of the four attributes. Love is so important to me. I love creation (Trees, birds,
squirrels), God, and I love people. I just want the love that God has given me, to pour out onto others.
I want others to know that I love them. These are my personal strengths

Brrexit Causes And Disadvantages
Envision a place, any place in the world, where people come and go, a serene environment that
collaborates with the surrounding areas, all around living in unison. These places help each other like
a well oiled machine, when one country is down it is up to the others to help it get to its rightful place.
Think of this as a union. But, then envision just one of the collaborating countries feeling the need to
leave or break away from this union damaging not only the structure of the union but the overall
welfare of their own nation. Think of this as an exit. This example given above is an example of the

The cost to make batteries will be very high.
Making the cars so that the batteries will fit can also be very costly. the cost to make a new industry is

Doing away with gas car factories will be high because of the cost of laying off workers.
A new infrastructure will have to be made if gas cars are replaced with electric cars.
White did mention that it would be possible for green cars to prevail over gasoline vehicles.
The development of green cars will be a huge step for promoting a healthier and cleaner environment
(nizam, 2012).
In three more years most cars will be hybrid cars.
The green cars will cut off when the car isn t moving which will reduce emission.
Cost is a big problem and technology still, holds the promise to deliver affordable green cars.
Maybe Americans need to be convinced that electric cars are and will be reliable.
Car makers should think about making battery life that will meet the car owners needs and surpass the
capabilities that gasoline cars have.

Scott Fitzgerald reveals in the short story An Alcoholic Case that some challenges are remarkably
difficult to overcome. For example, the nurse becomes fed up with the cartoonist because she feels it
is hopeless to help him if he does not want to help himself. It was so utterly senseless as she put a
bandage on her finger where she had cut it while picking up the glass she made up her mind she would
never take an alcoholic case again (Fitzgerald). When the cartoonist felt he would never get better, he
came to the decision that he wanted to die and there was nothing the nurse could have done to stop
him. She knew death she had heard it, smelt its unmistakable odour, but she had never seen it before it
entered into anyone, and she knew this man saw it in the corner of his bedroom; that it was standing
there looking at him while he spat from a feeble cough and rubbed the result into the braid of his
trousers. It shone there crackling for a moment as evidence of the last gesture he ever made
(Fitzgerald). These quotes show that the nurse had a hard time taking care of the cartoonist as he had
difficulty overcoming his alcohol

Role Of Stephen King s Stories
The Role of Stephen King s Stories in Modern American Literature Stephen King is one of the most
prolific writers of this century. He has written a number of short stories and novels many of which
have been turned into movies. One of the reasons that King s works are popular with readers is due to
the fact that his stories give the reader something outside of the formulaic formula that many books
are inclined to follow or endings that are predictable and derivative. King also made his foray into
horror in the 1970 s when the genre was kind of lackluster. King offered the reader something
different in that he did not shy away from the gore, gratuitous violence or cheap shocks. One of the
reasons that King s works have so much power when it comes to the imagination is because he
himself is a horror aficionado, who writes according to his worldview. Readers can also see the
influence that Classic literature has had on the works of King. Just as the works of the Ancient Greeks
and later Shakespeare focused on certain themes, such as man versus nature, good versus evil or love
versus hate, so do the works of King. However, in his works King tends to twist the traditional plot of
Shakespeare and the Classic by having his characters go from hero to villain or showing the loss of
man s honor or humanity in the wake of horror. One of the things seen often times in his writing is the
alienation of both the individual and of society. Publication of Mile 81 Mile 81 was

Notice that the Reynolds number is given in logarithmic scale. Then, we exit the diagram horizontally,
starting from the point defined above, towards the left of the diagram. Page 1 of 4 The Colebrook
White formula was proposed in the first half of last century, and allows for the computation of f . It is
expressed as follows: 1 = − 2 log10 f  ε 2.51  +  3 .7 D ℜ f      (1) where ε or ks
indicates the pipe equivalent roughness, D is the pipe diameter, and ℜ is the Reynolds number. The
main characteristic of Equation (1) is that it is implicit. It can be observed that the Darcy Weisbach
coefficient appears at both sides in (1), and there is no way of obtaining it solely as a function of
known variables. Therefore, a numerical method needs to be applied to compute that coefficient.
Equation (1) can be expressed as:  ε 1 2.51 + 0.869 ln  +  3.7 D ℜ f f   =0   (2) where
the logarithm on base 10 has been converted to the natural logarithm. Multiplying by f , Equation (2)

Essay about Home Schooling
Home Schooling
Home Schooling in the United States is on the rise. In the 1980 s home schooling was a choice that
parents could make with their children if they so desired. By the early 1990 s about three hundred
thousand children were in a home school environment. Today there are about two million students
being taught at home. Children being taught at home are increasing by a rate of seven to fifteen
percent every year. Home schooling is a choice every parent has to make; these days more and more
parents are choosing to educate at home. When choosing to educate at home it is important to think
about the positive and negative aspects, the technological advancements that have been made, and
what laws and regulations you must follow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now this child scores in the top percentile of standardized testing. He is also two grade levels ahead of
his age group (Gershaw).
Another pro of home schooling is the idea of religious freedom. Religion is very important to many
families. Some parents do not feel that parochial schools will provide their child with the information
needed to worship properly. Other families practice odd or unpopular religions which are not taught in
schools of any type. Many extremely religious families choose to home school for the mere fact the
school systems do not teach religion to the level of importance in which they find it to be.
Although home schooling may appear as a good idea there are some negative aspects you should take
into consideration too. The first problem with being home schooled is the lack of interaction with the
diverse world. The reason this is a problem is that children will not get to meet and learn from
different ethnicities and cultures. The child will only be listening to his or her parent s or instructor s
ideas and viewpoints on different ideas and different issues in the world which may leave the child
ignorant or bias depending on his or her instructor s orientation on matters. If the parent has ignorant
views on a situation this could be inherited and passed on to the child.
Home schooling poses time restraints. This would be a huge problem for a single parent because it
would not be possible for the parent to work and then

Josef Mengele s Medical Experiments During The Holocaust
The Holocaust was an awful time during which millions of people were killed, tortured, and forced
into labor. Auschwitz is one of the most well known concentration camps during the Holocaust. The
Auschwitz concentration camp held many Jews as prisoners against their will. This camp out of them
all killed the most people and was considerably known as the worst. The Jews were treated like slaves
and were forced into labor. They lived in conditions that no one should ever have to live in. For the
Jews in Auschwitz, life was almost unbearable as over a million people had to live through brutal
conditions.
The living conditions in Auschwitz were insufferable. Jews were forced into concentration camps by
Nazis and were treated horribly. A major problem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Josef Mengele was a doctor that performed horrible operations on people of Auschwitz. He studied
twins, people with dwarfism, and people with an eye disease called noma. Most of Mengele s patients
were children. During Mengele s experiments that lasted for hours, people were starved, exhausted,
and scared ( Auschwitz Birkenau: Nazi Medical Experimentation. ). After Mengele was finished with
his research on people he would kill them. When they were killed he examined their inner organs for
any more research that could be done ( Auschwitz Birkenau: Nazi Medical Experimentation. ). The
reasoning for his experiments are still unknown today.
The horrible conditions in Auschwitz left Jews suffering and many even dead. Jews had to live in
barracks that were unsanitary and caused many illnesses and disease. They were also forced into labor
that was hard and unbearable. Executions took place to innocent people. Death marches were
conducted that left many people dead. Medical experiments were done to harmless children and some
adults. Every day in the camp, prisoners feared for their life or the life of a loved one. Even though we
cannot take back what happened during the Holocaust, we can still remember how many lives were

Handover Patient Communication
1)
Communication skills throughout the simulation were advantageous. This included communication
with other participants, other medical staff such as Dr. Black and communication with the patient.
Specifically, when communicting with the patient, if this communication is poor it can increase the
patients feelings of stress and fear, thus overall leading to increased anxiety and a loss of confidence in
the medical team (Razera Braga, 2011, p. 635). This leads the to mistrust of the medical staff from
both patients and their families, possibly resulting in a decline of the patients condition. Therefore it is
vital, especially in a post operative situation that the patient is spoken to clearly and throughly whilst

Bright was experiencing some central chest pain, radiating to his left shoulder and jaw. He rated this
pain as a 6/10. Glyceryl trinitrate spray was administered but he is still experiencing pain.
Observations were fine when he came to us here at the ward, but now his blood pressure and
respiratory rates have increased.
Additionally, Mr. Bright is beginning to feel quite nauseous.
He is experiencing pain in his femoral artery site.
Background:
Mr. Bright is a type 2 diabetic with a history of hypertension of 10 years and an increasing unstable
angina which is the reasoning for the PCI. The PCI was a tough procedure to the right coronary artery,
with some myocardial ischemia identified and a 10% residual stenosis. Additionally, Mr. Bright
smokes 20 cigarettes per day.
Assessment:
A spray of the GTN was administered sublingually as this has subsided the chest pain however the
wound site pain remains.
The wound site is beginning to grow in redness and warmth, Mr. Bright may have a haematoma
forming here.
Recommendation:
I would recommend giving Mr. Bright some of his PRN morphine.
Additionally I would recommend some kind of anti emetic to subside the current nausea and prevent
additional nausea often associated with morphine

Erikson Identity Crisis
Erik Erikson is a figure in psychology who examined many factors about the personality. One of his
theories revolves around identity crises, which he believed countless people have gone through during
their lives in order to solidify their identity. Since his findings on this topic in the 1970s, others have
done studies on identity crises and how they affect development as well. The concept of an identity
crisis is quite important in discovering how the ego grows and identity develops, and it has been
referenced many times in popular culture. Being that it is so relevant to everyone s lives as Erikson
believes, I picked this as a topic for this paper in order to understand the concept more. In this paper, I
define Erikson s idea of identity crisis and then compare it to three other works which revolve around
the subject. Then I compare each article to Erikson, my personal experience, and occasionally to each
other in order to demonstrate how Erikson s ideas on identity crisis are valid in a modern setting.
Identity crisis can be defined as a mental state where an individual is easily upset by a sudden or
intense stimulus where their egos seems to have lost any shook absorbing capacity (Frager, 2013, p.
165). Furthermore, he states that these individual s egos seemed to have lost any shock absorbing
capacity and their sensory systems [are] in a constant startled state (Frager, 2013, p. 165). He coined
this term while treating soldiers at Mount Zion Veterans

The Circular Plot In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
The Circular Plot in Of Mice and Men
The author, John Steinbeck, utilizes a circular plot structure in his novel, Of Mice and Men, to show
how prejudice and the impossibility of wishful desires will always be prevalent in society. He
integrates multiple examples through the characters of this story; each individual representing a role in
society. As Lennie and George travel from ranch to ranch, their dreams are challenged and Lennie is
one of many who faces discrimination.
To commence, repetition is used to introduce how Lennie has always been discriminated against due
to his mental disability. For example, as they arrived on the new ranch, Lennie claims George said he
was his cousin to the boss they had met. Conversely, George retorts that what he said was a lie,
declaring that if he was a relative of [Lennie], [he d] shoot [himself] (Steinbeck 24). This illustrates
how Lennie is often ridiculed for his condition, George concealing it to avoid losing their opportunity
of receiving the Job on the ranch. This moment is one of many situations George has mistreated
Lennie to some extent. Further evidence is when George explains to Slim what had discouraged him
from mocking Lennie. He confesses to Slim that he played jokes on Lennie because it made him
appear smart alongside of him, only stopping when he orders Lennie to jump in the lake. Lennie
couldn t swim a stroke and he was so nice to [George] for [pulling] him out of the water in time to
save his life (Steinbeck

The Life Of James Baldwin s Struggle For Sexual Performance
James Baldwin survived as not an unusual figure; he existed as a black man in the mid twentieth
century disgruntled with the way America treated him. As much as he protested through his literary
works and often times through recorded interviews, Baldwin frequently made the clear statement he is
not the victim. In fact, he would go as far to say white people are the victims, although what they were
victims of remained not as straight forward. The two main topics Baldwin favored writing on were
race and sex. In the short story, Going to Meet the Man, the main character, Jesse, is dissatisfied with
his sexual performance, or lack thereof, and is intrigued by the sexuality of black people. Did James
Baldwin justify himself as the superior being and the white person as the victim in his own assumption
which argued white people long to have the sexual capabilities of black people? Through his short
story, Baldwin infers white people are inferior sexual performers; they are intrigued by the sexual
capabilities of black people, and comforts himself by exposing an example of white lack of
superiority.
In the opening of Going to Meet the Man, Baldwin constructs his presentation displaying the limited
sexual abilities of the white man. The fictional character Jesse, portraying white males in general,
cries, it s not my fault! He tried again; he wretchedly failed again. Then he just lay there, silent, angry,
helpless (Baldwin 229). Baldwin strategically places these select words at

`` Barbie Doll `` By Marge Percy
Marge Percy Barbie Doll is a social commentary about the demanding pressures that the mass media
produces about how women should look like and what type of body they should have. Women in the
1970s faced high standards and these standards still go on to this day. These high demands lead
women to go above and beyond to meet standards that society has placed upon them. Some of these
drastic measures can lead to consequences. In Barbie Doll the main character decided to undergo
plastic surgery to fix her big nose and fat legs . Unfortunately she ended up dying in her struggle to
meet the standard that the media has placed on her at an exceptionally young age. Her untimely death
is a symbol and the theme of the poem that these women will work themselves to death to meet
societies demands and most of the time it is all for nothing. All this women wanted was people to
accept the way she looked and not critique her looks and it was not until her funeral day, when it no
longer mattered, that she finally got that acceptance. The poem starts off just saying how the main
character was born as usual . There is nothing wrong with the main character and she is just a normal
girl that played with Barbie dolls. It is not until the fifth line that the magic of puberty finally hits the
author. Sadly, it is during this time when the human mind is so fragile, that the high standards of the
mass media on how a women should look start to bear down, crash, and take over a lot

She is sharp tongued, quick tempered, and prone to violence, particularly against anyone who tries to
marry her. Her hostility toward suitors particularly distresses her father.
But her anger and rudeness disguise her deep seated sense of insecurity and her jealousy toward her
sister, Bianca.
She does not resist her suitor Petruccio forever, though, and she eventually subjugates herself to him,
despite her previous repudiation of marriage.
Widely reputed throughout Padua to be a shrew, Katherine is foul tempered and sharp tongued at the
start of the play. She constantly insults and degrades the men around her, and she is prone to wild
displays of anger, during which she may physically attack whomever enrages her. Though most of the
play s characters simply believe Katherine to be inherently ill tempered, it is certainly plausible to
think that her unpleasant behavior stems from unhappiness. She may act like a shrew because she is
miserable and desperate. There are many possible sources of Katherine s unhappiness: she expresses
jealousy about her father s treatment of her sister, but her anxiety may also stem from feelings about

Jacqueline Gandara
The Math Autobiography of Jacqueline Gandara Mathematics is the study of the sciences of numbers,
quantities, geometry and forms. ( Mathematics dictionary definition | mathematics defined , 2016) It is
a subject that is simple as well as complex. Over the years I have learned that math is not my cup of
tea. I think I liked it more when I was younger, when it was simple, and easier. I guess you could say
that I liked basic math, like adding, subtracting, and multiplying. Growing up, I actually had no
problem with basic math. It was easier when I was in elementary school. It was until I arrived to
middle school and high school that I realized that math wasn t as simple as I thought it was. Math did
not really influence my life until I reached ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I use math to shop for things at the store, to cook, bake, and to keep track of my expenses. Math will
also be used in the career I have chosen. According to CFNC.org, math is a necessary skill for a career
in Customs and Border Protection, but it is not as important as reading comprehension, writing and
speaking skills. Level 2 math is used in this career and it is most likely not used on a daily basis.
(Corporation, 2016) However, basic math is necessary to get through some of the rules and
regulations. For example, let s say someone attempts to cross the border with 39, 12 oz. cans of beer
and 6, 12 oz. cans of ale. This is legal by law if the person meets the legal drinking age of 21.
However, there is a limit of 40 oz. of liquor, wine or 24, 12 oz. cans or bottles of beer or ale. This
person has passed the limit so, he has to pay a fine of 94 cents for every can that he has gone over. You
have to use your basic math skill to figure out how much money this man owes for bringing extra
liquor. 45 cans (what this guy is bringing) minus 24 (the limit) equals 21 cans. 21 multiplied by $0.94
cents is $19.74. This man owes a total of $19.74 for his extra liquor. (Corporation, 2016) The math
class I plan to take for my major is college Algebra. Even though I probably will not use it in my
career, I have chosen to take it because I am pretty good at it and it is also essential for a bachelor s

Tampa, U.S.A. simpsond@mail.usf.edu I. INTRODUCTION
Engineering has been an essential part of society since man created the wheel. Even from the days in
ancient Egypt when the pharaohs built the pyramids they used their own form of engineering.
Engineers were always a very prestigious occupation. It was roman engineers who allowed the city of
Rome to be built from the palaces to the aqueducts. After the roman engineers built the aqueducts then
engineering evolved to a more renaissance approach including building castles and moats. Kings and
queens would use engineers for personal statues of themselves or for improvements on their castles.
The foundation of engineering completely changed when Isaac newton invented calculus and put a
formula to gravity. A couple hundred years later, many engineers focused on improving machinery in
the industrial revolution, along with many improvements in the medical field. Lately some of the more
popular feats of engineers include large skyscrapers being built across the world, and one of the best
inventions of all which is the computer. Computer scientist and electrical engineers have been at the
forefront of our most recent technological advancement and will continue to push our technological
boundaries to the limits.

It Was Not Fair, By The Brown V. The Board Of Education
It was Not Fair Knowledge overcomes ignorance and was the best weapon in the fight against

inferiority was what caused black children like Moses attend schools were children who looked like

was clear: NO. Therefore, Moses had to wake up, pretend there was no school right across the street
and walk or ride his bike two miles to the school where the law said he belonged. This was in 1958,
four years after the Brown v. the Board of Education. By knowing what Brown v. the Board of
Education was, the effects before the case and the outcomes, it is better understood why children like
Moses did not have to walk long distances to attend a school when there was one right across the

which the Equal Protection Clause was being violated in segregated schools because the city s black

Winterbourne is largely blinded to the honesty and innocence that Daisy imparts because he has trouble recognizing a manner that has become foreign to him. Thus when Daisy walks calmly along with both Giovanelli and Winterbourne in the Pincio and does not seem anxious to get rid of Winterbourne, Winterbourne is perplexed (36 37). He does not realize that she does not know better and she will ruin herself because of it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ester Lucero Essay Cassie Essary Tim Petete Ethnic American Literature November 12, 2009 Angel s Psyche in Ester Lucero One of the most fascinating aspects of any story is the formation of it scharacters. The way the author chooses to describe them, give them personalities, is how the reader will see their lives. A character s psyche and the way he thinks about events around him change the way a reader perceives the story. Authors have an amazing chance to shape and bend a story to fit what they want it to be through the characterization of the people they write about. If an author is incapable of making characters believable and understandable, the story won t survive. In Isabel Allende s Ester Lucero , Angel is described in a way that makes ... Ester became something that he desperately wanted, but could never allow himself to have. She was a child, and he would not allow himself to touch her for that reason, and because his obsession with her is what keeps him going. Ester became the focus of all his attention so he didn t have to deal with anything else in his life. Another issue with Angel is the fact that he has a bullet in his groin. The women of the town question his masculinity and begin to wonder if maybe the malaria or that bullet he has there in his crotch rid him forever of a taste for women (Pearson 10). They don t realize that he has become completely engrossed with Ester and therefore uninterested in the other women of the town. Since Angel does have a bullet in his groin, and purposefully chose an unavailable girl to fixate on, it makes the reader wonder if the bullet did cause some sort of dysfunction. Perhaps the reason that Angel deliberately chose a girl that he could never have was because he knew women wouldn t want him if they knew that he was impotent. Early on, when it is Angel s turn with a bride for the moment he found no consolation ...he would have to search for that girl, if for no other reason than to determine whether she was a mirage (Pearson 9). My personal strengths consist of: positivity, encouragement, laughter, and love. I pick these four because I feel that I am truly strongest in these aspects of my life. Being positive is a big factor in everything I do. I always want to be happy and joyful; not only to display Christ in me, but to make others feel the way I do. I want others to appreciate life and to feel any kind of uplift in his or her spirt. Positivity plays into encouragement. I make it my goal to make others feel better about themselves. My goal coming into college was to learn and know every person(s) name that I got the chance to meet. Just taking a few minutes out of your day to truly get to know someone, is such a blessing. It not only blesses me in new friendships, but it also blesses others because they feel that someone genuinely cares about them. Laughter is another characteristic I strive to pour out onto others. I laugh at practically everything. I love to laugh, and I love to make people laugh. I ve learned the importance of laughter, and I just want to make one person smile every day. Love is my last of the four attributes. Love is so important to me. I love creation (Trees, birds, squirrels), God, and I love people. When the cartoonist felt he would never get better, he came to the decision that he wanted to die and there was nothing the nurse could have done to stop him. She knew death she had heard it, smelt its unmistakable odour, but she had never seen it before it entered into anyone, and she knew this man saw it in the corner of his bedroom; that it was standing there looking at him while he spat from a feeble cough and rubbed the result into the braid of his trousers. • 17. Role Of Stephen King s Stories The Role of Stephen King s Stories in Modern American Literature Stephen King is one of the most prolific writers of this century. He has written a number of short stories and novels many of which have been turned into movies. One of the reasons that King s works are popular with readers is due to the fact that his stories give the reader something outside of the formulaic formula that many books are inclined to follow or endings that are predictable and derivative. King also made his foray into horror in the 1970 s when the genre was kind of lackluster. King offered the reader something different in that he did not shy away from the gore, gratuitous violence or cheap shocks. One of the reasons that King s works have so much power when it comes to the imagination is because he himself is a horror aficionado, who writes according to his worldview. Readers can also see the influence that Classic literature has had on the works of King. Just as the works of the Ancient Greeks and later Shakespeare focused on certain themes, such as man versus nature, good versus evil or love versus hate, so do the works of King. However, in his works King tends to twist the traditional plot of Shakespeare and the Classic by having his characters go from hero to villain or showing the loss of man s honor or humanity in the wake of horror. One of the things seen often times in his writing is the alienation of both the individual and of society. Publication of Mile 81 Mile 81 was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Notice that the Reynolds number is given in logarithmic scale. Then, we exit the diagram horizontally, starting from the point defined above, towards the left of the diagram. Page 1 of 4 The Colebrook White formula was proposed in the first half of last century, and allows for the computation of f . It is expressed as follows: 1 = − 2 log10 f  ε 2.51  +  3 .7 D ℜ f      (1) where ε or ks indicates the pipe equivalent roughness, D is the pipe diameter, and ℜ is the Reynolds number. The main characteristic of Equation (1) is that it is implicit. It can be observed that the Darcy Weisbach coefficient appears at both sides in (1), and there is no way of obtaining it solely as a function of known variables. Therefore, a numerical method needs to be applied to compute that coefficient. Equation (1) can be expressed as:  ε 1 2.51 + 0.869 ln  +  3.7 D ℜ f f   =0   (2) where the logarithm on base 10 has been converted to the natural logarithm. Other families practice odd or unpopular religions which are not taught in schools of any type. Many extremely religious families choose to home school for the mere fact the school systems do not teach religion to the level of importance in which they find it to be. Although home schooling may appear as a good idea there are some negative aspects you should take into consideration too. The first problem with being home schooled is the lack of interaction with the diverse world. The reason this is a problem is that children will not get to meet and learn from different ethnicities and cultures. The child will only be listening to his or her parent s or instructor s ideas and viewpoints on different ideas and different issues in the world which may leave the child ignorant or bias depending on his or her instructor s orientation on matters. One of his theories revolves around identity crises, which he believed countless people have gone through during their lives in order to solidify their identity. Since his findings on this topic in the 1970s, others have done studies on identity crises and how they affect development as well. The concept of an identity crisis is quite important in discovering how the ego grows and identity develops, and it has been referenced many times in popular culture. Being that it is so relevant to everyone s lives as Erikson believes, I picked this as a topic for this paper in order to understand the concept more. In this paper, I define Erikson s idea of identity crisis and then compare it to three other works which revolve around the subject. Then I compare each article to Erikson, my personal experience, and occasionally to each other in order to demonstrate how Erikson s ideas on identity crisis are valid in a modern setting. Identity crisis can be defined as a mental state where an individual is easily upset by a sudden or intense stimulus where their egos seems to have lost any shook absorbing capacity (Frager, 2013, p. 165). The Circular Plot In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men The Circular Plot in Of Mice and Men The author, John Steinbeck, utilizes a circular plot structure in his novel, Of Mice and Men, to show how prejudice and the impossibility of wishful desires will always be prevalent in society. He integrates multiple examples through the characters of this story; each individual representing a role in society. As Lennie and George travel from ranch to ranch, their dreams are challenged and Lennie is one of many who faces discrimination. To commence, repetition is used to introduce how Lennie has always been discriminated against due to his mental disability. For example, as they arrived on the new ranch, Lennie claims George said he was his cousin to the boss they had met. Conversely, George retorts that what he said was a lie, declaring that if he was a relative of [Lennie], [he d] shoot [himself] (Steinbeck 24). This illustrates how Lennie is often ridiculed for his condition, George concealing it to avoid losing their opportunity of receiving the Job on the ranch. This moment is one of many situations George has mistreated Lennie to some extent. Further evidence is when George explains to Slim what had discouraged him from mocking Lennie. He confesses to Slim that he played jokes on Lennie because it made him appear smart alongside of him, only stopping when he orders Lennie to jump in the lake. The Life Of James Baldwin s Struggle For Sexual Performance James Baldwin survived as not an unusual figure; he existed as a black man in the mid twentieth century disgruntled with the way America treated him. As much as he protested through his literary works and often times through recorded interviews, Baldwin frequently made the clear statement he is not the victim. In fact, he would go as far to say white people are the victims, although what they were victims of remained not as straight forward. The two main topics Baldwin favored writing on were race and sex. In the short story, Going to Meet the Man, the main character, Jesse, is dissatisfied with his sexual performance, or lack thereof, and is intrigued by the sexuality of black people. Did James Baldwin justify himself as the superior being and the white person as the victim in his own assumption which argued white people long to have the sexual capabilities of black people? Through his short story, Baldwin infers white people are inferior sexual performers; they are intrigued by the sexual capabilities of black people, and comforts himself by exposing an example of white lack of superiority. In the opening of Going to Meet the Man, Baldwin constructs his presentation displaying the limited sexual abilities of the white man. Women in the 1970s faced high standards and these standards still go on to this day. These high demands lead women to go above and beyond to meet standards that society has placed upon them. Some of these drastic measures can lead to consequences. In Barbie Doll the main character decided to undergo plastic surgery to fix her big nose and fat legs . Unfortunately she ended up dying in her struggle to meet the standard that the media has placed on her at an exceptionally young age. Her untimely death is a symbol and the theme of the poem that these women will work themselves to death to meet societies demands and most of the time it is all for nothing. All this women wanted was people to accept the way she looked and not critique her looks and it was not until her funeral day, when it no longer mattered, that she finally got that acceptance. The poem starts off just saying how the main character was born as usual . There is nothing wrong with the main character and she is just a normal girl that played with Barbie dolls. It is not until the fifth line that the magic of puberty finally hits the author. Sadly, it is during this time when the human mind is so fragile, that the high standards of the mass media on how a women should look start to bear down, crash, and take over a lot ... ( Mathematics dictionary definition | mathematics defined , 2016) It is a subject that is simple as well as complex. Over the years I have learned that math is not my cup of tea. I think I liked it more when I was younger, when it was simple, and easier. I guess you could say that I liked basic math, like adding, subtracting, and multiplying. Growing up, I actually had no problem with basic math. It was easier when I was in elementary school. It was until I arrived to middle school and high school that I realized that math wasn t as simple as I thought it was. Math did not really influence my life until I reached ... Level 2 math is used in this career and it is most likely not used on a daily basis. (Corporation, 2016) However, basic math is necessary to get through some of the rules and regulations. For example, let s say someone attempts to cross the border with 39, 12 oz. cans of beer and 6, 12 oz. cans of ale. This is legal by law if the person meets the legal drinking age of 21. However, there is a limit of 40 oz. of liquor, wine or 24, 12 oz. cans or bottles of beer or ale. This person has passed the limit so, he has to pay a fine of 94 cents for every can that he has gone over. You have to use your basic math skill to figure out how much money this man owes for bringing extra liquor. 45 cans (what this guy is bringing) minus 24 (the limit) equals 21 cans. 21 multiplied by $0.94 cents is $19.74. This man owes a total of $19.74 for his extra liquor. (Corporation, 2016) The math class I plan to take for my major is college Algebra. Foundations Of Engineering Lab Report Foundations of Engineering Lab Report Project 2 Dominic Simpson Department of Civil Engineering University of South Florida Tampa, U.S.A. simpsond@mail.usf.edu I. INTRODUCTION Engineering has been an essential part of society since man created the wheel. Even from the days in ancient Egypt when the pharaohs built the pyramids they used their own form of engineering. Engineers were always a very prestigious occupation. Kings and queens would use engineers for personal statues of themselves or for improvements on their castles. The foundation of engineering completely changed when Isaac newton invented calculus and put a formula to gravity. A couple hundred years later, many engineers focused on improving machinery in the industrial revolution, along with many improvements in the medical field.
