Post-Civil War America
Post Civil War America
The highest court in the United States (the Supreme Court) made a ruling in 1857 that Africans
(blacks) had no rights, could not become U.S citizens, and that Congress had no powers to abolish
slavery. The aftermath of the ruling saw the United States suffer one of the bloodiest wars in world
history the Civil War. In less than ten years since the ruling was made, Congress together with the
Northern states addressed the biases in the ruling. The biases were addressed through the
amendment of the constitution and the civil rights statute. Through the 13th Amendment, slavery
was abolished in all parts of the United States. The 14th Amendment and the Civil Rights Act of
1866 guaranteed citizenship for all qualified, natural born, and naturalized Americans, inclusive of
former slaves and free blacks. The civil rights statute, in addition, authorized the transfer of cases
from state to federal courts in cases where citizens rights could not be enforced through state
systems of justice. The 14th Amendment also prohibited states from infringing the rights enjoyed
by American citizens, as well as, ensuring every citizen had the right to due process and equal
protection of the law (Kaczorowski, 1987, p. 45).
The Congressional Republicans held the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The theory of constitutionalism advocated by revolutionary congressional Republicans was
rejected. The revolutional aspect of the theory saw its rejection by the Supreme Court. The
Supreme Court, while keeping a modified theory of state sovereignity, re established the American
federalism theory which observed state rights, and gave the states the powers to exercise authority
over its citizens and securing their civil rights. The Supreme Court decision strengthened the status
of the state in the federal system (Kaczorowski, 1987, p.

Would the change pose a threat to a familiar or established situation where routine, predictability
and comfort rule the day? But then on reflection, changes could have a positive effect, perhaps a
change could open up an opportunity to learn new technologies and thereby an advancement in
personal and professional development. In order to move forward and keep ahead, I believe an
organization need change leaders who have capabilities to have their workforce go from change
avoidance to change acceptance. One of the most significant strengths of an effective leader is
the ability to create a positive work climate where people are energized to do their best work, free
of unnecessary distractions (Cronkite, n.d.). During this part of the change process I feel the
change leader would have better success if he would be tactful and harness the skills of others by
working in a collaborative rather than hierarchical way. Leadership in an organization involves
instilling motivation and enthusiasm in the employees. An effective leader knows how to manage
and tackle difficult situations and people. Many reasons can cause a force of change in
organizations but I feel it s up to change leaders to manage these planned and unexpected changes.

The Pilgrim s Progress By John Bunyan
The Pilgrim s Progress written by John Bunyan was a very deep and touching story to me. After
reading it and trying to interpret what it was saying I decided that I could actually relate more to
this story than I realized through my faith as a follower of Jesus Christ. John Bunyan uses a
dream of the main character, Christian, to describe a life changing event for Christian to grow
spiritually while traveling and meeting new people and having first time experiences. The Pilgrims
Progress is an allegory to the Bibleand Christianitythat portrays what we as Christians believe in.
Bunyan uses the pilgrimage of Christian to express this allegory using the experiences and
people Christian comes into contact with to explore the struggles and challenges of life on
earth Christians faces daily when seeking eternal life. The first challenge Christian faces is his
guilt. As a Christian, I was always taught right from wrong according to the Bible and when I am
in the wrong for something, I feel guilty because I know it is wrong and that it is not necessarily
how God wants me to live my life or what he wants from me. The guilt arises because I am
promised eternal greatness after my life here on earth as long as I believe in JesusChrist and I
continue to strive to be a Christian, and well lets face it, who would not feel guilty being
promised such an amazing thing in exchange for being a good person and following the biblical
scripture of Christ. I dreamed, and behold, I saw a man

Essay Volcanoes
Affects of Volcanoes
The plates which are about 20 miles thick, make up the earth s crust and are a chief cause of
volcanic activity. These plates are always in motion. They move very slowly, however some at
times bump in to each other. These movements put a lot of pressure on the surface rock. Volcanoes
obtain their energies from such movement and pressure. Volcanoes form at the boundaries of
these plate where two types of movement occurs, two plates will collide with each other or the
plates will move apart from each other. Some of these plates layers are cooled and are made up of
rigid rocks.

Also lava flow is more life threatening but can produce a lot of property damage as well as
economic loss. Volcanicash can collapse roofs and damage crops, especially if they become wet
from rainfall. Debris flows called lahars that are mixtures of volcanic debris and water made from
melted snow or ice or heavy rainfall. If anything comes in the path of lahar can destroy and also
travel quickly through valleys.
Indirect hazards are usually non volcanic effects that accompany or follow eruptions. Examples
are rainfall caused debris flow, and post eruption disease and famine. Tsunamis are large seismic
sea waves generated by sudden movement of the seafloor. This sudden seafloor movement can be
caused by a large earthquake or by the collapse of an island volcano during or after an eruption.
Tsunamis can devastate low lying coastal areas and can be deadly if people living in such areas are
not evacuated. Indirect hazards also include volcanic deposits from large eruptions. These deposits
can blanket farm fields and grazing lands, leading to the loss of crops and livestock and ultimately
to the starvation of people dependent on them for life. During the period from the 17th century to
the 19th century, tsunamis and posteruption starvation and disease caused most eruption related
deaths.
Possible future activity can be noticed sometimes by predicting the next

Stephen Nathanson s Essay An Eye For An Eye
In Stephen Nathansons paper on An eye for an eye he discusses some of the heated contravercy
surronding the death penalty, and his personal views on the issue. Nathanson believes that by
renouncing the death penalty, we show our determination to accord at least minamal respect even
to those whom we believe to be personally vile or moraly vicious . Proclaiming that by abolishing
the death penaltywe are sending two very important messages. First, as human beings we deserve
to be respected as such, and be allowed a sence of dignity. To abolish the death penalty we are
coveying that human life holds value depite any vile deeds that may or, may not have been

In fact, states that do not employ the death penalty have consistantly lower murder rates than the
staes that do. Haag argues that, the death penalty, because of its finality, is more feared than
imprisonment, and deters, some prospective murdered not deterred by the threat of imprisonment .
Van den Haag also argued that people commit crimes because of their beliefs, and because they will
benefit somehow from committing the crime. Van den Haag believed that any temporary or
permanent incapacitation only reduces the crime rate if there are no more compensating increase
in crime by other people. However, if no strong deterrents such as the death penalty existed, an
increase in crime and criminals will still be a factor. Although, I personally do not support the
death penalty because of my own moral standing I do however concied that there must be
punisments that fit the crime in place. However, if someone has their mind set on doing something
for whatever reason not too much can deter them from doing so including the fear of death. I dont

Freedom of Humanity Depends on the Connection with Nature
The Bear is a book written in 1942 by William Faulkner that deals with the life of an ancient bear
named Old Ben. Old Ben affects the lives of most hunters that know him, and most importantly it
he has a great influence on Ike and the wilderness. The Bear is not only about the life of Old Ben,
but it is also about the wilderness, racism, possession of land, and the meaning of humanity. The
interpretation of wilderness Faulkner present in his book is that the forest represents an essential
connection among liberty and humanity (Radloff). Through allusion, William Faulkner uses
imagery and symbolism to connect liberty and humanity with the wilderness. William Faulkner,
with the successful use of imagery, explains that the only way... Show more content on

On this occasion, Old Ben [does] not emerge, appear: it [is] just there, immobile, fixed in the
green and windless noon s hot dappling (Faulkner 202). When Ike happens to be near the bear,
Old Ben chooses to have the posture of a man (LaBudde 227). Even though Ike is scared of the
bear (Faulkner 200), because of the bond that he shares with Old Ben, he is not afraid to go into
the wilderness [without] the gun by his own [free] will (Faulkner 200). The importance of Ike s
connection with the wilderness is that in acquiring wisdom from the wild, Ike learns of God (Utley
232).
William Faulkner with the use of symbolism of land successfully explains that humans cannot truly
own nature. Fathers constantly pass on the crime of trying to tame nature to their sons, creating a
vicious cycle of abuse of land (Vickery 210). This means that [God] created man to be his
overseer on the earth (Faulkner 247). He did not create humans to become owners of land. During
Ike s lifetime, the sin that was originally present during the generation of [Ike s] grandfather and
then his father (Faulkner 251) tries to claim possession of the lands that do not officially belong to
it. Since Ike has a better understanding of nature, he feels in his heart that the possession of nature
is simply impossible by man (Breaden 273).

World War 1 Propaganda Poster Analysis
INTRO In the era of World War I, you had two very important choices, to fight for your Country,
or to to die with it. This essay will be expressing my opinions on the three main points of the
Propaganda poster, Will you fight now that proves it is the most persuasive poster of the era.
First, the use of scare tactics present throughout the poster was used to persuade and sway the
men of America to enlist. Second, the use of the burning barn was more than just a scare tactic, it
represents America under German invasion that was very possible if the men back home did not
enlist. Finally, the use of a family being executed by German foot soldiers is set in the headland of
America, shown by the man being pinned against a grain silo about to be executed by the German
invaders.

Third, The Navy Needs You! depicts an angel over a Navy sailor with the words Don t read

Music of the South
As you are driving down the road of the countryside of the American South, you see the dry fields
of grass spread for miles. You turn on the radio and all you hear is country music or the blues. This
is the culture and music of the South. The South has two types of music, country music of the
whites and the bluesof the blacks. Due to the isolation and conservatism of the South, the South
had their own forms of rural music. First, we look at the blues and how grief can become a form
of popular music. Great blues singers include Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith, B.B. King, and Muddy
Waters. Secondly, we look at the origins of country music. Examples of great country singers

Frankenstein And Individualism
Romanticism is the active search for expression and understanding, whether scientifically or
creatively and the composers of texts are significant in providing insight and understanding of the
various perceptions of these individuals. There are countless concepts and ideologies that contribute
to the way of thinking that is Romanticism. However, two themes consistent in and central to texts
that express Romantic concerns is that of the transcendent world; a world most commonly
manifested in the realm of the imagination and within the expression and search for the divinity that
links one human being to another and creates individualism between persons.

This law defying creation, being the first and only of its kind, is an individual. Schlegel s
discussion of German Romanticism in Philosophy argues the belief that philosophy is the inner
mental life and highlights the importance of individualism for the human condition. An
individual is a being who is different from the rest, and who defies the laws of an average being
in some way. Because the Creature is cast out by society, he is forced to live in the forest, to
survive in wildlife, and thus becomes very close to nature. The monster is aware that he is
alone, and informs De Lacey that he is ...an unfortunate and deserted creature; I look around, and
I have no relation or friend upon earth . In hopes of receiving some comfort and love, which he
so desperately craves. Mary Shelley uses ice to signify the Creature in her novel Frankenstein .
The ice, representing the individual, shows the reader the talents of an individual and what it
meant to be an individual in the romantic era. Ice is often used to show solitary and lifelessness,
which bring a sombre mood, and add to the intensity of the interactions between Victor and the
Creature. The monster tells Frankenstein to Follow me; I seek the everlasting ices of the north,
where you will feel the misery of cold and frost, to which I am impassive . He wishes to meet in a
place that is cold and deadly, just like the monster that he has become due to the hate and rejection

success. The answer is simple, Howard Roark was the only one to achieve true success in the
end. The paths of these two men were very clearly divided, Keating choose one of kissing butt

staying true to himself. The first example of this is in the college. The Dean of Stanton expels

Balloon Angioplasty Essay
1. Introduction Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the world accounting for
17.5 million people, or more than 30% of all deaths. Atherosclerosis leads to coronary artery
disease, which is a manifestation of ischemic heart disease [1,2]. When an artery narrows, or
becomes blocked, intervention is required to restore normal blood flow. In patients with multi
vessel coronary artery disease, coronary artery bypass graft surgery in generally accepted as a
better method due to the greater risk of developing recurrent ischemic events. However, in those
with a single vessel obstruction, the non surgical procedure known as percutaneous coronary
intervention (PCI) has been shown to be as effective in treating stenosis [2]. PCI is achieved
using balloon angioplasty, which was first introduced in 1977 [1]. 1.1 Bare Metal Stents (BMS)
By the mid 1980 s, bare metal stents (BMS) were developed to overcome the limitations of
balloon angioplasty [1]. Coronary stents are metal lattices that hold the vessel open, which
prevents recoil following angioplasty [2]. They are delivered using a catheter mounted balloon
inserted either in the brachial or femoral artery, which is then threaded to the site of blockage in the
coronary artery. The balloon is inflated, and the stent is released covering the stenosed lesion...

(9.5%); planned surgery within 12 months (5.5%); and anticipated poor dual antiplatelet therapy
(DAPT) compliance (1.7%). Patients often receive BMS over DES to avoid long term DAPT; this

Non-Rapid Eye Movement
The first stage is called the Non Rapid Eye Movement (NREM 1) sleep. This stage occurs
between wakefulness and sleep, and it typically lasts between 1 to 10 minutes immediately
following sleep onset. ( Stages of Sleep Non REM and REM Sleep Cycles | Tuck Sleep ) The
body muscles are not inhibited, and the eyes roll while the eyelids may remain slightly open. In
addition, breathing rate, blood pressure, and braintemperature decrease. The brain activity
transitions from exhibiting alpha waves (8 13 Hz) to theta waves (4 7 Hz). (Foundation) Some
people in NREM 1 sleep may experience sudden twitches or hypnotic jerks, and even albeit rarely
hypnagogic hallucinations. (Stickgold and Walker)
The second stage of the sleep cycle is the Non Rapid Eye Movement (NREM 2) sleep. This lasts
about 20 minutes and is characterized by decreases in the heart rate and body temperature. In
this stage, theta activity is observed. ( Stages of Sleep Non REM and REM Sleep Cycles | Tuck
Sleep ) Any remaining alpha waves from the previous episode of wakefulness are interrupted by
sleep spindles, which are bursts of high frequency activity originating from the reticular nucleus
of the thalamus. (Stickgold and Walker) Muscular activity decreases and conscious awareness of
the external environment disappears. NREM 1 and NREM 2 together are often referred to as light

It was a scorching hot day and the wind was blowing the trees of the overgrown frost. I was at

Track Developmental Milestones
The reason why Ms. Carolyn stated that it is important to track developmental milestones is
because you will never know when you will catch something different from the child. It also helps
with making a milestone checklist because it helps with keeping up with each child s progress.
Because of using a checklist, it helps keep Ms. Carolyn in check and helps with thinking of things
her children should be doing next. It s also important to track developmental milestone because it s
useful for the families of the children. The reason why it is important for the families is because it
can give great information with families so they know what to look for next along with her. One of

S.E. Hinton, the author of The Outsiders, wished to emphasize a certain concept or idea in the

identity. The most important concept in the The Outsiders was the concept of class conflict.
Class conflict is the conflict between two or more classes, in this case the Greasers and Socials,
in a community. This conflict was going on because the Socials, or Socs, were rich and lived on
the West Side of town. On the other hand, the Greasers lived on the East Side of the town, and
were mostly poor. The public perceived them in different ways, which fed this class conflict. The

Gideon replies, countering what the stranger said, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why
then is all this befallen us? (Judges 6:13) The first Lord used in this sentence is aМ‚doМ‚n, it s
root meaning: (meaning to rule); sovereign, that is, controller (human or divine): lord, master,
owner (Strong s Concordance H113). Here we see Gideon addressing the stranger politely, but
he doesn t realize that he is talking to an angel of the Lord. Gideon also presents more doubts to
the stranger later on in verses 13, and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of,
saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and
delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. Gideon at this point may be wary, he doesn t know
this person , plus he was just interrupted, his hiding place for threshing wheat was found out.
Gideon s language contains questions and he also states his doubts, he mentions that he believes
the Lord has forsaken them. So far the characteristics Gideon portrays is fearfulness, and doubt. In
verse 16 of Judges 6, the Lord tells Gideon, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the
Midianites as one man. This obviously perks Gideon curiosity as we see in the next verses (17
18); he starts to realize with whom he may be conversing.

Examples Of Moral Truths In Hamlet
Hamlet moral truths Hamlet has shown there are many moral truths that we can pattern our life
after. He has had a difficult life but he has taught many things that we can add to our life and in
this essay, you will see some of those moral truths. Neither a borrower or nor a lender be. For loan
oft loses both itself and friend. And borrowing dulleth edge of husbandry. This above all, to thine
own self be true. And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.
(page 22 Hamlet) He teaches hear that we do not borrow or lend what we have if we do the we
may lose a friend. It can cause problems with you and your friend. Hence, what does it mean to be
true to yourself? Can you fudge really, what you are saying or do you have to be completely honest

Ethical Decision Making
We do not quite say that the new is more valuable because it fits in; but its fitting in is a test of
its value a test, it is true, which can only be slowly and cautiously applied, for we are none of us
infallible judges of conformity. , the famous poet T. S. Elliot once said. Ethicsand conformity go
hand in hand; it is hard to talk about one subject without involving the other. The past two weeks of

If it does decide carefully, for the outcome is yours to deal with. Each individual person has their
own set of ethics. This set of moral principals can vary radically, depending on the subject,
circumstance, or even upbringing. On any given day an individuals morals can change
depending on the happenings of that day or previous days. One tiny event may have such a
large impact on an individual that they may choose to rethink their whole ethical system. The
ethics you determine are yours and yours alone. You do not need a book explaining why you
feel the way you do. Each individual has suffered through different hardships and has breezed
through different high periods in their life. Ethics build as a person ages and experiences more.
The more you have seen and witnessed, the more able you are to draw conclusions as to whether
you have a point of view on that particular subject. In addition to individual and personal codes of
ethics, each person also has their own method of making decisions. Hypothetically speaking, a

Are You John Jones Propaganda Analysis
The ability to influence a single person is something that almost all people are exposed to within
their life time. To influence someone through status of power can be easy. To influence someone
through persuasion is a skill. To persuade, most people would appeal to a logical, or emotional
argument. While the past two examples are on a personal level, it is possible to influence large
groups of people through status of power, or persuasion. Ultimately, persuasion is the best when a
person has no direct authorityover a diverse group. An efficient and widely used tool of persuasion
is propaganda. A simple way to connect with propaganda is to think of commercials on TV.
Propaganda and commercials follow the same format for their creation and share many different

The moral of Mauro Senesi s short story, The Giraffe is that change is not widely accepted, even

because change is uncertain. In this short story, the group of boys who lead the Giraffe around
town, act as those who are willing to accept and take the risk of allowing change, whereas the
rest of the town reject change by not giving the Giraffe a chance to prove its worth. I believe
Mauro Sensi intentionally created a close relationship between the boys and the Giraffe because

The collective bending of numerous myosin heads (all in the same direction), combine to move the

Scientists have come a long way in the research relating to muscle contraction. In the past several

Sociological Functionalism And The Functions Of Religion

Theoretical Prospective:
Structural Functionalism:
Functionalism is a theoretic scheme used in sociology which explains the social order, the
relationship between different parts and their role in stability of the society. When it is applied to
the sociological study of religion, this approach explains religion as functional body within society
because it forms social cohesion and integration by disclosing the bonds between people. Different

Durkheim s vision continues to control sociological thinking today on the functions of religion.
Firstly, religion gives meaning and purpose to life. Most of the things in life are hard to
recognize. That was surely true, as we came to know in early times, but even in today s highly
scientific age, most of life and death remains unknown, and religious faith and belief help many
people make sense of the things science cannot tell us.
Secondly, religion reinforces social unity and stability. This was is Durkheim s most important
vision. Religion enhances social stability in two ways. As it gives people a general set of beliefs
and hence is an essential agent of socialization. Moreover the collective practice of religion, such as
in houses of worship, brings people of various religions together physically which facilitates their
communication and other social interference thus promotes their social

Gosling polled the group using a standard Five Factor model personality test which measured
extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and openness to new
experiences (Steele, Evans, Green, 2008). Then researchers rated the same subjects based solely on
their Facebook profiles, which usually included pictures and lists of interests.
The researchers found a correlation between assessments in four of the five categories. Gosling was
not surprised that emotional stability was the only attribute showing no significant results across
personal and online assessments because it is a quality that people are good at concealing across
most media (Wilson, 2007). Although the extroversion category showed the highest correlation,
research suggests that openness to new experience is perhaps exhibited better online than in person.
Judith Donath, an associate professor at the Media Laboratory at MIT who reviewed Gosling s
research, divides the content of social networking sites into signals and unintended cues. According
to Donath, Facebook users do not intend to share super personal information on their profiles.
People who happen to share a personal status update might be perceived as over sharing without

drugs created the energy of the album because of the relationship LSD brought to The Beatles.
Before November of 1966, the band had been divided in half with the people who took LSD
(George Harrison and John Lennon) and the ones who did not (Paul McCartneyand Ringo Starr). In
November of 1966, Paul McCartney agreed to try LSD. This agreement closed the gap between

The record follows the idea of The Beatles being Sergeant Pepper s band, as some sort of alter
ego, and has a beginning, middle, and end. This allowed the band to present themselves as
something new and fresh by adopting the persona of a fake group (Gould 385). The concept
album model set by The Beatles has been used over the past four decades by many other groups.
This was not the only way that the album was revolutionary, though, the diverse compositions
that allowed the album to be a cross between the uniformed brass bands of Lancashire and the
ornately named acid rock groups of California caused a massive explosion of aesthetics (Gould
418). The contrast of the instruments and compositions used from song to song in the album,
namely the soft ambience of imported paisley carpets and a haze of smoldering incense in
George Harrison s Indian influenced song, Within You Without You vs the 40 piece orchestra in A
Day in the Life , set the tone for many albums to come (Gould 387). The effect Sergeant Pepper s
Lonely Hearts Club Band had on the music industry and the people of the 1960s was undeniably

within the reader, causing them to wonder if all of theses events within the South of Argentina

Why China Is The Biggest Internet Market Globally Essay
Many market opportunities have helped the Alibaba Group thrive in the recent years. The location
is the first advantage because China has over 560 million users of internet spending over 20 hours
online a week. China is the biggest internet market globally (Bhasin, 2016). This is twice the size
of internet users in United States of America. China is gradually shifting the traditional retailing in
favor of latest trend of e tailing. The good relationship with the government of China has enabled it
to carry its operations so well in the market. For example, Alibaba Groupwas among the companies
selected by the government of China to join the Internet banking. This is a huge opportunity
especially where banks are state owned (Shiying Avery, 2009). The cost cutting associated with the
huge volume of sales. For example, Tmall and Taobao accounted for over 50 percent of all the
Chinese delivered parcels. Tmall s and Taobao s combined transaction volume in 2012 was about
one trillion yuan. This figure was more than eBay and Amazon transaction volumes combined.
Marketing strategies are so essential for the success of any business. To understand this better, I can
briefly discuss the Alibaba s marketing mix. The Alibaba s main product is Alibaba.com, their E
commerce portal. It is the leading business to business portal in the entire world (Bhasin, 2016).
Alibaba focuses on B2B market where it is the leader while most of other E commerce portals such

Christianism And Colonialism
Christianity in colonial Africa During the nineteenth century, the interests of multiple nations led to
a wave of imperialism that afflicted the continent of Africa. The imperialistic interests coupled with
their strong ideals and beliefs influenced to a great extent the continent. Prior to imperialism, the
populous had a preexisting culture and belief system that dictated their way of life. However, as a
consequence of imperialism, the new belief system and education that Christianity brought with it
changed the lives of the people of Africaand brought about a cultural shift that is present in post
colonial times. Examples of this are demonstrated in the novels, Things Fall Apart by Chinua

The novel notes that The Church had come and led many astray (Achebe p.174). The many
stemmed from all levels of hierarchy within the Igbo society. For example one of the converts
included Ogbuefi... who had taken two titles... (Achebe p.176) which was very significant because
of the level of importance that titles were regarded with within the Igbo society. One of the largest
pieces of evidence from the novel comes from Obierika who describes the manner in which the
cultural shift occurred. He says, He came... with his religion... allowed him to stay detailing the
manner in which the missionaries came. The acculturation becomes apparent when Obrierika says
...he won our brothers, and our clan can no longer act like one (Achebe p.176). This demonstrates
the instability of the Igbo society as a result of the introduction and further influence of the Christian
faith and its teachings. The Church s followers being members of the Igbo people as well made it
difficult for the Igbo people to fight back, thus debilitating the clan s ability to function as a unit.
The end result being the complete acculturation of the Christian faith leading to postcolonial times

The Tragedy Of Hamlet
In The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare, many scholars are known
to debate the controversial topics that are present within the play. This includes whether or not
Hamlet is pretending to be mad, if an Oedipus complex is present within the play, and if it is the
reason for his delay to action. In Hamletthere is evidence that Hamlet is only feigning madness and
in reality identifies with Claudius, thereby delaying Claudius death. This is largely in part due to
the Oedipus complex that is present within Hamlet. In Hamlet it is debated whether or not Hamlet s
madness in the playis real. However, the evidence points to the idea that Hamlet is only pretending
to be mad. When Hamlet tells Horatio As I perchance hereafter... Show more content on

Ultimately, the reason for the delay to action in Hamlet is left ambiguous but, one such credible
explanation is that the delay is due to the Oedipus complex. Hamlet sees his own sexual desires
manifested in Claudius so therefore he is unable to take action and kill the man he identifies with.
Sigmund Freud states that, Hamlet is able to do anything except take vengeance on the man who
did away with his father and took that father s place with his mother, the man who shows him the
repressed wishes of his own childhood realized (41). Hamlet is unable to punish Claudius for
killing his father because Hamlet realizes that he himself is literally no better than the sinner whom
he is to punish (Freud 41). This idea is confirmed in the last moments of the play when Hamlet s
mother dies. Hamlet throughout the play struggles to kill Claudius because he represents Hamlet s
childhood wishes, however, only after Gertrude dies is Hamlet s childhood wishes killed along with
her. Hamlet is finally able to kill Claudius because Gertrude has now died. Because Gertrude is
the object of Hamlet s desire, and she has now died, Hamlet s desire for his mother has also died
(Schaeffer). With nothing left to cause him to identify with Claudius, Hamlet is finally able to
complete the task that was given to

Deforestation And Its Effects On Deforestation
Rainforests are found typically in tropical areas with a constant heavy rainfall in its biodiversity.
When areas of rainforests are destroyed, it s not just the trees that disappear. It s time for the
government to take action on deforestation. Rainforests are an important location for indigenous
people and animals because that s where their home belongs. Yet the government and organizations
ignore those facts and just demolish their homes in order to gain a new location for productions. It
s a topic that s constantly debated in politics and society should take a recognition on what s
happening in deforestation. More than half of the world s rainforests are destroyed and is in danger
by humans, therefore, the government shouldn t allow deforestation anymore in order to save the
remaining rainforests in the environment because it affects habitats, species, and indigenous
people. Loss of habitats is an evident threat in the rainforestas the facilities continue to form new
funds to buildings and resources. In deforestation, people can profit and revenue on the resources
to inhibit for society to use. They profit on the resources they sell to other countries after they
obtain the sources they received from the rainforests. Rather than the facilities looking at a profit
for their own benefits, the destruction of the land will cause the species to never return back nor
will it provide shelter for them in their adapting habitat. Even if deforestation is to distribute goods

Optic Nerve Construction
There are many structures in the eye, some of which include; the retina, rods and cones, the macula,
the central fovea, the cranial nerve, the optic chiasm and the lateral geniculate nucleus. The retina is
a layer at the back of the eye containing cells that are sensitive to light, it triggers impulses through
the optic nerve. Rods and cones are specialized receptors which sense light and color. The macula
is an area about the diameter of a pencil head and is close to 100 times more sensitive to small
visual features than the rest of the retina. The central fovea is an area of the retina in the center of
the macula that has an extremely high resolution. The cranial nerve is responsible for nerve
impulses that travel along the optic nerve... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

even though the eye may be different from what evolutionists think the ideal eye would look like, it
still functions at the highest rate possible and can not be redesigned to make it faster or more

An explosion rocked the town, widows shattered and cars alarms wailed, A line of twenty Abram

Loss Of Identity In Alan Moore s Watchmen
Rorschach s journal from the grave: It has been sometime since the comedian died. From then on
nothing has been a laughing matter. Us watchmen have been through nuclear war, murder, and ice
cold twists and turns. I feel like our story could be influential to anyone s life.
Through Alan Moore s exquisite writing and plot twists he encompasses identity, real world
problems, and nonВsuperhero like storytelling.
Identity is one reason why Alan Moore s Watchmenis one of the most influential books of all time.
Each character in this novel has their own identity and viewpoint of the world. The most amazing
example of this is Rorschach. He is my favorite character in this book simply because his
viewpoint on the world is to lookout for himself and what he ... Show more content on

The fact that this takes place in USA late 1900s makes this book more relatable. Also this novel
has problems such as love, hatred, and violent crime. These real world problems are what makes
this novel even relatable. There is nothing like seeing superheros go through the same struggles we
go through daily. Finally, another reason why this book is very influential is that even though it is
a novel about superheroes it does not follow how, normally, a superhero story would be told. For
example, in
Superman comics, the clear villain is Lex Luthor and the clear hero is none other than
Superman. However in Watchmen Adrian Veidt was thought to be a superhero for most of the
novel until it was revealed that he was actually a villain. Also, the watchmen are supposed to be
heroes yet most of them come from terrible or violent backgrounds. This makes this novel that
much more riveting.
In Summation, Alan Moore s Watchmen is one of the best novels of all time. I believe it is
because this book is the embodiment of identity, real world problems, and nonВsuperhero like
storytelling. Identity in this novel is led by in my opinion the best character Rorschach

Essay On Writing Class
Attending the reading that was in the evening of the conference for Jory Franklin and Patrick
Madden was enlightening for me as a growing writer. This semester I ve been focusing on creative
non fiction, taking both the literature class and the advanced creative writing class for it, so the
reading was a great addition to my semester. I am glad that I attended the conference and that I
came with a lot insights and things to contemplate. From the keynote that was earlier that morning,
I some idea of what kind of professors Pat and Joey were. They all quite creative in their teaching
methods and that seems to translate to their writing. Joey writes from personal experience and
reflects interestingly upon those experiences. He connects ideas that don t, at first glance, seem
connected. Pat, who took physics as an undergrad, combines the personal essaywith science to

The possibilities and combination are endless and if something isn t working perhaps something

probably won t catch on any time soon. Most likely due its difficulty to use all the letters of the
alphabet. The other thing I learned, or rather the idea was reemphasized, was that no subject, no
moment in my life is off limits. I don t have to be the Queen of England to tell an interesting
story. It is the skill of the writer that makes or breaks an essay or story. Every life is different and
we aren t going to take the same things away from the same experience. That is one of the
reasons to write, is so people know your side of the story. The human life is fascinating no matter

The Yellow Press Book Summary
1. The Yellow Press as defined in our book was a battle to sell more newspapers that pitted the
New York World owned by Joseph Pulitzer and the New York Journal owned by William
Randolph Hearst against one another (book p. A 70). Hearst used the color yellow to print his
comics mixing facts with sensationalizing accounts of crime and political corruption with
aggressive appeals to patriot sentiments (book p. 667). Pulitzer and Hearst send reporters to Cuba.
They sent back reports of Spanish cruelty some of which are factual and some that were not. These
stories begin to rile the American people. Also at this time, Thomas Edison invents the motion
picture camera and people are shown newsreels of the Cuban struggles. Atrocities are shown...

The Filipinos had been fighting the Spanish prior to the arrival of the U.S. Aguinaldo knew he
needed a major power to help him with his struggle. Aguinaldo met with Dewey in Hong Kong
and sailed with him to the Philippines. After Dewey s naval victory in the Manila Bay,
Aguinaldo believed he could begin Filipino independence so he formed his government based
on the U.S. Constitution. However, the U. S. turned against him when they annexed the island
nation. McKinley justified his position saying it would take them 100 years to understand what
true freedom means (book, p.672). At the time of the insurrection, America was becoming
aware of the atrocities committed by American troops such as the burning of villages, torture of
POW s, and rape and execution of civilians (book, p.677). Aguinaldo was not treated fairly at all.
If the U.S. was not so short sighted, he could have founded his government. We could have had a
stronger ally during WWII. We were lucky the Japanese were more brutal than we were.
However, in our defense, we did our best to Americanize the island nation by modernizing their
infrastructure, education and medical treatment systems (book, p. 672). Why was this war so
little remembered by the American people? I believe this had a lot to do with Douglas McArthur.
He loved the Filipino people and it about killed him to leave them to the Japanese. He vowed to
return and return he did. He along with his Filipino guerillas defeated the Japanese. After winning
WWII, the Philippines were granted their independence. I believe this is why no one knows about

The Five Domains of High Performance * Strategy An organization s human capital must be
aligned to the business strategy so that every employee is focused on the same goal. *
Leadership Leaders must communicate performance expectations, develop and promote the right
people and convince employees that their behaviors are critical to success. * Talent HR strategy
must be developed around the business model to ensure that the proper human capital
components are put in place to drive business value. * Culture The values and beliefs at all levels
and in all departments must be aligned, and existing and future leaders should be role models for
this culture. * Market Every employee in the organization should understand the marketplace and
customers and should know how his or her job impacts business results. Table 1 Trader Joe s is an

Essay about Historical Analysis of the Military Draft Policy
Historical Analysis of the Military Draft Policy
The Constitution adopted in 1789 gave Congress the power to raise and support armies, but it
neither mentioned nor prohibited conscription. The Framers left that issue to the future, although
most of them believed that the United States like Britain would enlist its men rather than conscript
them, and would pay for its armies through the power to tax. Not until World War I did the United
States rely primarily upon conscription. The Selective Service Act of 1917 was adopted in large
part because a civilian led preparedness movement had persuaded many Americans that a selective
national draft was the most equitable and efficient way for an industrial society to raise a wartime
army. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drawing continued until all days of the year had been matched to lottery numbers. (Berger
1981)
In 1973, the draft ended and the U.S. converted to an All Volunteer military. The registration
requirement was suspended in April 1975. It was resumed again in 1980 by President Carter in
response to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Registration continues today as a hedge against
underestimating the number of servicemen needed in a future crisis. (Berger 1981)
Draft Procedure and Policy
When a crisis occurs which requires more troops than the volunteer military can supply,
Congress passes and the President signs legislation which starts a draft. It should be noted that
the President cannot initiate a draft on his own. Congress would first have to pass legislation
(both the House and Senate), and the President would have to sign the bill into law. A lottery
based on birthdays determines the order in which registered men are called up by Selective
Service. The first to be called, in a sequence determined by the lottery, will be men whose 20th
birthday falls during that year, followed, if needed, by those aged 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25. The
Agency activates and orders its State Directors and Reserve Forces Officers to report for duty.
Registrants with low lottery numbers are ordered to report for a physical, mental, and moral
evaluation at a Military Entrance Processing Station to determine whether they are

The Virtue Of Silence Essay
THE VIRTUE OF SILENCE
Of all the virtues that most men and women disregard, it is silence. People go about in their
everyday lives not even noticing the beauty of one s quot;inner silence. quot; Try an experiment:
Close your eyes. Tune out the sounds from everything that s surrounding you, and focus on what
is going on inside you. Take a deep breath and just listen. How many inner voices did you hear?
Most people do not even realize the amount of noise that is carried around in the human body. As
you can see, even in the remarkably noisy age we live in, the real noise is on the inside. But even
these noises can dissappear if one wishes. All one needs to do is study one of many religions, such
as Buddhism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One has to be able to drown out all sounds so that there is no sound to be heard. It s as though it
doesn t exist.
The Christian and Jewish methods, however, differ greatly. These two separate religions believe
that to go about reaching a state of perfect silence and meditation, one must pray to God. Both of
these religions teach that if a person wanted to drown out the rest of the world, including one s own
self, that person must pray. A meditative prayer where people fall into a trance, allowing only
thought to occur. No sound can penetrate their thoughts. Absolute, utter silence.
Christianity, and mainly Monasticism, believe that silence keeps the heart and soul pure. By not
speaking, one may not taint their lips with quot;evil quot;. Hence, in monasteries, monks take on
vows of silence. They believe that with the help of God they can overcome the urge to speak
evil against anyone else, thus keeping there souls pure. This, however, is much harder than it
seems. Jews and Buddhists do not always need to keep silent. Jews meditate and pray on a
weekly basis. Buddhists, too, don t feel as though they need to take on a full time vow like the
monasteries demand. It is detrimental to a monastic lifestyle that a vow of silence be kept. Its
importance is to help a monk concentrate on his prayers and his love of God. People who disregard
this important rule of monasticism are not tolerated because

Internal Controls Protect Businesses Essay
American stockholders have billions if not trillions of dollars invested in various publicly traded
companies throughout the country. With that much money involved, it is only wise that there be
control measures and safeguards put into place protect these investments from any unlawful or
irresponsible activity. Publicly traded companiesare required by law to develop such measures.
These measures are often referred to as internal controls. These internal controls exist for two main
reasons. One reason being, to keep the employees honest. With so much money and other assets
involved in business every day, the temptation to steal or misuse those assets cannot be ignored.

Internal controls are can be set up in several different ways based on several basic principles. One
very important principle is to establish responsibility. It is important to clearly identify who is in
charge and who is accountable for certain tasks. Without accountability, individuals will simply pass
the buck and avoid taking responsibility whenever something bad happens.
Companies must also set up physical control measures to safeguard assets. Several examples of
such safe guards are limiting access to cash through the use of safes and pass code protected
registers. Security cameras and alarm systems are also effective control measures.
Companies also segregate or separate related tasks and assign them to different individuals. This
makes it extremely difficult for employees to steal or misuse assets because they cannot
completely conceal their activities. For example, where I work, there are over 100 company
vehicles. Supervisors assign the vehicles, while employees drive the vehicles, and a separate
vehicle management officer (VMO) maintains vehicle usage records. If someone wanted to use a
vehicle in an unauthorized manor, they would have to somehow fraudulently obtain a vehicle from
a supervisor, use the vehicle without other employees finding out, and then conceal the use of fuel
and mileage from the VMO. The task is not impossible, but extremely difficult to accomplish. Using

  • 2. Post-Civil War America Post Civil War America The highest court in the United States (the Supreme Court) made a ruling in 1857 that Africans (blacks) had no rights, could not become U.S citizens, and that Congress had no powers to abolish slavery. The aftermath of the ruling saw the United States suffer one of the bloodiest wars in world history the Civil War. In less than ten years since the ruling was made, Congress together with the Northern states addressed the biases in the ruling. The biases were addressed through the amendment of the constitution and the civil rights statute. Through the 13th Amendment, slavery was abolished in all parts of the United States. The 14th Amendment and the Civil Rights Act of 1866 guaranteed citizenship for all qualified, natural born, and naturalized Americans, inclusive of former slaves and free blacks. The civil rights statute, in addition, authorized the transfer of cases from state to federal courts in cases where citizens rights could not be enforced through state systems of justice. The 14th Amendment also prohibited states from infringing the rights enjoyed by American citizens, as well as, ensuring every citizen had the right to due process and equal protection of the law (Kaczorowski, 1987, p. 45). But then on reflection, changes could have a positive effect, perhaps a change could open up an opportunity to learn new technologies and thereby an advancement in personal and professional development. In order to move forward and keep ahead, I believe an organization need change leaders who have capabilities to have their workforce go from change avoidance to change acceptance. One of the most significant strengths of an effective leader is the ability to create a positive work climate where people are energized to do their best work, free of unnecessary distractions (Cronkite, n.d.). During this part of the change process I feel the change leader would have better success if he would be tactful and harness the skills of others by working in a collaborative rather than hierarchical way. Leadership in an organization involves instilling motivation and enthusiasm in the employees. An effective leader knows how to manage and tackle difficult situations and people. Many reasons can cause a force of change in organizations but I feel it s up to change leaders to manage these planned and unexpected changes. • 4. The Pilgrim s Progress By John Bunyan The Pilgrim s Progress written by John Bunyan was a very deep and touching story to me. After reading it and trying to interpret what it was saying I decided that I could actually relate more to this story than I realized through my faith as a follower of Jesus Christ. John Bunyan uses a dream of the main character, Christian, to describe a life changing event for Christian to grow spiritually while traveling and meeting new people and having first time experiences. The Pilgrims Progress is an allegory to the Bibleand Christianitythat portrays what we as Christians believe in. Bunyan uses the pilgrimage of Christian to express this allegory using the experiences and people Christian comes into contact with to explore the struggles and challenges of life on earth Christians faces daily when seeking eternal life. The first challenge Christian faces is his guilt. As a Christian, I was always taught right from wrong according to the Bible and when I am in the wrong for something, I feel guilty because I know it is wrong and that it is not necessarily how God wants me to live my life or what he wants from me. The guilt arises because I am promised eternal greatness after my life here on earth as long as I believe in JesusChrist and I continue to strive to be a Christian, and well lets face it, who would not feel guilty being promised such an amazing thing in exchange for being a good person and following the biblical scripture of Christ. I dreamed, and behold, I saw a man ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples are rainfall caused debris flow, and post eruption disease and famine. Tsunamis are large seismic sea waves generated by sudden movement of the seafloor. This sudden seafloor movement can be caused by a large earthquake or by the collapse of an island volcano during or after an eruption. Tsunamis can devastate low lying coastal areas and can be deadly if people living in such areas are not evacuated. Indirect hazards also include volcanic deposits from large eruptions. These deposits can blanket farm fields and grazing lands, leading to the loss of crops and livestock and ultimately to the starvation of people dependent on them for life. During the period from the 17th century to the 19th century, tsunamis and posteruption starvation and disease caused most eruption related deaths. Stephen Nathanson s Essay An Eye For An Eye In Stephen Nathansons paper on An eye for an eye he discusses some of the heated contravercy surronding the death penalty, and his personal views on the issue. Nathanson believes that by renouncing the death penalty, we show our determination to accord at least minamal respect even to those whom we believe to be personally vile or moraly vicious . Proclaiming that by abolishing the death penaltywe are sending two very important messages. First, as human beings we deserve to be respected as such, and be allowed a sence of dignity. • 8. Freedom of Humanity Depends on the Connection with Nature The Bear is a book written in 1942 by William Faulkner that deals with the life of an ancient bear named Old Ben. Old Ben affects the lives of most hunters that know him, and most importantly it he has a great influence on Ike and the wilderness. The Bear is not only about the life of Old Ben, but it is also about the wilderness, racism, possession of land, and the meaning of humanity. The interpretation of wilderness Faulkner present in his book is that the forest represents an essential connection among liberty and humanity (Radloff). Even though Ike is scared of the bear (Faulkner 200), because of the bond that he shares with Old Ben, he is not afraid to go into the wilderness [without] the gun by his own [free] will (Faulkner 200). The importance of Ike s connection with the wilderness is that in acquiring wisdom from the wild, Ike learns of God (Utley 232). William Faulkner with the use of symbolism of land successfully explains that humans cannot truly own nature. Fathers constantly pass on the crime of trying to tame nature to their sons, creating a vicious cycle of abuse of land (Vickery 210). This means that [God] created man to be his overseer on the earth (Faulkner 247). He did not create humans to become owners of land. During Ike s lifetime, the sin that was originally present during the generation of [Ike s] grandfather and then his father (Faulkner 251) tries to claim possession of the lands that do not officially belong to it. Since Ike has a better understanding of nature, he feels in his heart that the possession of nature is simply impossible by man (Breaden 273). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, two themes consistent in and central to texts that express Romantic concerns is that of the transcendent world; a world most commonly manifested in the realm of the imagination and within the expression and search for the divinity that links one human being to another and creates individualism between persons. Atherosclerosis leads to coronary artery disease, which is a manifestation of ischemic heart disease [1,2]. When an artery narrows, or becomes blocked, intervention is required to restore normal blood flow. In patients with multi vessel coronary artery disease, coronary artery bypass graft surgery in generally accepted as a better method due to the greater risk of developing recurrent ischemic events. However, in those with a single vessel obstruction, the non surgical procedure known as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has been shown to be as effective in treating stenosis [2]. PCI is achieved using balloon angioplasty, which was first introduced in 1977 [1]. 1.1 Bare Metal Stents (BMS) By the mid 1980 s, bare metal stents (BMS) were developed to overcome the limitations of balloon angioplasty [1]. Coronary stents are metal lattices that hold the vessel open, which prevents recoil following angioplasty [2]. They are delivered using a catheter mounted balloon inserted either in the brachial or femoral artery, which is then threaded to the site of blockage in the coronary artery. The balloon is inflated, and the stent is released covering the stenosed lesion... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Class conflict is the conflict between two or more classes, in this case the Greasers and Socials, in a community. This conflict was going on because the Socials, or Socs, were rich and lived on the West Side of town. On the other hand, the Greasers lived on the East Side of the town, and were mostly poor. (Judges 6:13) The first Lord used in this sentence is aМ‚doМ‚n, it s root meaning: (meaning to rule); sovereign, that is, controller (human or divine): lord, master, owner (Strong s Concordance H113). Here we see Gideon addressing the stranger politely, but he doesn t realize that he is talking to an angel of the Lord. Gideon also presents more doubts to the stranger later on in verses 13, and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. Gideon at this point may be wary, he doesn t know this person , plus he was just interrupted, his hiding place for threshing wheat was found out. Gideon s language contains questions and he also states his doubts, he mentions that he believes the Lord has forsaken them. So far the characteristics Gideon portrays is fearfulness, and doubt. In verse 16 of Judges 6, the Lord tells Gideon, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man. This obviously perks Gideon curiosity as we see in the next verses (17 18); he starts to realize with whom he may be conversing. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The location is the first advantage because China has over 560 million users of internet spending over 20 hours online a week. China is the biggest internet market globally (Bhasin, 2016). This is twice the size of internet users in United States of America. China is gradually shifting the traditional retailing in favor of latest trend of e tailing. The good relationship with the government of China has enabled it to carry its operations so well in the market. For example, Alibaba Groupwas among the companies selected by the government of China to join the Internet banking. This is a huge opportunity especially where banks are state owned (Shiying Avery, 2009). The cost cutting associated with the huge volume of sales. For example, Tmall and Taobao accounted for over 50 percent of all the Chinese delivered parcels. Tmall s and Taobao s combined transaction volume in 2012 was about one trillion yuan. This figure was more than eBay and Amazon transaction volumes combined. Marketing strategies are so essential for the success of any business. To understand this better, I can briefly discuss the Alibaba s marketing mix. The Alibaba s main product is Alibaba.com, their E commerce portal. Christianism And Colonialism Christianity in colonial Africa During the nineteenth century, the interests of multiple nations led to a wave of imperialism that afflicted the continent of Africa. The imperialistic interests coupled with their strong ideals and beliefs influenced to a great extent the continent. However, as a consequence of imperialism, the new belief system and education that Christianity brought with it changed the lives of the people of Africaand brought about a cultural shift that is present in post colonial times. The Church s followers being members of the Igbo people as well made it difficult for the Igbo people to fight back, thus debilitating the clan s ability to function as a unit. The end result being the complete acculturation of the Christian faith leading to postcolonial times in which the Igbo culture like many of the other cultures existing at the time have been phased out due to the cultural shift. This includes whether or not Hamlet is pretending to be mad, if an Oedipus complex is present within the play, and if it is the reason for his delay to action. In Hamletthere is evidence that Hamlet is only feigning madness and in reality identifies with Claudius, thereby delaying Claudius death. This is largely in part due to the Oedipus complex that is present within Hamlet. In Hamlet it is debated whether or not Hamlet s madness in the playis real. Ultimately, the reason for the delay to action in Hamlet is left ambiguous but, one such credible explanation is that the delay is due to the Oedipus complex. Hamlet sees his own sexual desires manifested in Claudius so therefore he is unable to take action and kill the man he identifies with. Sigmund Freud states that, Hamlet is able to do anything except take vengeance on the man who did away with his father and took that father s place with his mother, the man who shows him the repressed wishes of his own childhood realized (41). Hamlet is unable to punish Claudius for killing his father because Hamlet realizes that he himself is literally no better than the sinner whom he is to punish (Freud 41). This idea is confirmed in the last moments of the play when Hamlet s mother dies. Hamlet throughout the play struggles to kill Claudius because he represents Hamlet s childhood wishes, however, only after Gertrude dies is Hamlet s childhood wishes killed along with her. Hamlet is finally able to kill Claudius because Gertrude has now died. Because Gertrude is the object of Hamlet s desire, and she has now died, Hamlet s desire for his mother has also died (Schaeffer). It is important to clearly identify who is in charge and who is accountable for certain tasks. Without accountability, individuals will simply pass the buck and avoid taking responsibility whenever something bad happens. Companies must also set up physical control measures to safeguard assets. Several examples of such safe guards are limiting access to cash through the use of safes and pass code protected registers. Security cameras and alarm systems are also effective control measures. Companies also segregate or separate related tasks and assign them to different individuals. This makes it extremely difficult for employees to steal or misuse assets because they cannot completely conceal their activities. For example, where I work, there are over 100 company vehicles. Supervisors assign the vehicles, while employees drive the vehicles, and a separate vehicle management officer (VMO) maintains vehicle usage records.
