Reflective Essay On Astronomy
The last time I remember learning about astronomy formally was as far back as elementary school,
where we learned about the basics of our solar system s planets and other ideas about space commonly
known by most people. Having never studied astronomy at a higher level, going into this class felt
similar to traveling to a foreign country, or sailing in foreign waters, so to speak. Many of the concepts
and facts have been things I have had little to no prior knowledge of. But regardless of any of that, I
cannot express the importance of this area of study in my life. In the past I have read comments
online, as well as heard things in real life, about how some subjects have no value in being studied
unless one is majoring in them. While my major is not astronomy, much less even science, I still could
not disagree more with this sort of thought. I can relate to some of the concepts of astronomy on a
very deep and personal level, to the point where my psychological state is affected, and I will explain
these thoughts in detail later. While these areas of great interest have not yet been covered in the
course, I cannot say that I have not found all of the current topics fascinating. As one who has a deep
interest in mathematics, I found a few of the concepts rather thought provoking, and I will again this
later. I will lastly discuss what I thought of the material as a whole, what I got most out of it, and what
my experiences were during and after learning it. Out of everything

With regards to matrimony, all lawful marriages should be respected regardless if the state abides with
such roles or not. The law went further to highlight the essence of existence of each resident,
emphazing the right of self determination, communication and access to persons and services inside
and outside the facility. In addition, a nursing home facility must protect and promote the rights of
each resident, including each of the following rights: maintain and establish an infection control
program to prevent the development and transmission of diseases and provide a safe, sanitary and
comfortable environment. Under such infection control program, the facility must investigate, control,
and prevent the spread of infection in the facility; decide the type of isolation procedure to apply to
each individual resident who is suffering from an infectious disease; and maintain a record of
incidents and corrective actions related to each infection. To prevent the spread of infection, the
facility must isolate the resident and prohibit employees with a contagious disease or infected skin
lesions from direct contact with residents or their food. Mandatory implementation of hand hygiene
before and after contact with residents must be implemented to avoid the spread of diseases. The

The Legalization Of Physician Assisted Death
The idea of committing euthanasia and physician assisted suicide (PAS) had a historical root in the
nineteenth century and referred as skillful alleviation of suffering 1 in Latin transcripts. Recently the
theme of the legalization of physician assisted death (PAD) in Canada boosted in 2012. The decision
of the British Columbia Supreme Court in the case of Carter v. Canada (Attorney General) was the
threshold of the theme. It ruled that the Canadian Criminal Code 2 prohibition against PAD was
discriminatory. According to the decision, the section 241 of the Code abuses the section of 12 of the
Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The adjudication is being finalized by the Supreme Court
of Canada in 2015 by granting a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In term of jurisprudence, assuming the legalization of euthanasia and PAD based on the court s
decision in Carter v. Canada has no legal ground. First of all, there is a new law only regarding PAD,
whereas there is nothing about euthanasia. Secondly, euthanasia and PAD are two different legal
terms. In brief, euthanasia means the deliberate act undertaken by one person with the intention of
ending the life of another person to relieve that person s suffering , according to the Canadian Senate
1995 report 3. In PAS, a physician, at the request of a competent patient, prescribe a lethal quantity of
medication, intending that the patient will use the medicals to commit suicide 4. Thirdly, according to
section 241 of the Canadian Criminal Code, there is a punishment for a doctor who assists a person to
commit suicide. This sentencing revised through a decision from the Supreme Court of Canada that
declared it should discriminate. In fact, derogating section 241 of the Canadian Criminal Code
regarding the prohibition of PAD is vastly different from legalizing euthanasia or PAD. The Supreme
Court of Canada in Carter v. Canada case provided: ...we should issue the following declaration:
Section 241 and s.14 of the Criminal Code unjustifiably infringe s.7 of the Charter and are no force or
effect to the extent that they prohibit physician assisted death for a competent adult person who (1)

Pop Culture A variety of different genres make up what we read, listen to and watch in society. Each

The history of sports has brought greater impacts to the love of the games. They have been changed by
the way play through generations. Jay Weiner wrote How to take back sports and the essay reflects off
the significant of sports in our past. He talks about how sports in the past represent a piece in our
history. It symbolizes how sports have grown as an entertainment in our society. Without sports in our
lives there would be a huge hole in our history. People do not realize some of the greatest athletes
were the reason why conflicts around the world became solved between different people. It set up
success in different aspects of politics. One good example that can relate to this subject is the famous
baseball player Jackie Robinson. Being the only African American in the major leagues at the time set
him up to be a role model to other black athletes. His success taught how discrimination against blacks
was not tolerated. According to Weiner, he made his point when he gathered a variety of black athletes
and symbolized them as a figure in society for what they have accomplished. Sports have impacted
our whole with a positive respect. Most would not be where they are right now if it wasn t for sports.
Kids in our generation love to play with toys as if the toys are a part of a real family. But it is often
that most kids think that their stuffed animals are actually real people. Technology and the way toys

Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson And Edgar Lee Masters
Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, and Edgar Lee Masters were three literacy scholars, who without a
doubt evolved American literature. They were each able to break the ancient stigmas, and created
supplementary freedom when it came to what a piece of literature can offer. They were known to
speak upon various topics that were recognized as inappropriate within the society, but that didn t stop
them from stating their beliefs. Common similarities that these literacy masters shared amongst each
other were constant themes of death, afterlife and religion. Although these three themes made a
regular occurrence in their pieces of literature, each writer had different views towards the various
themes which were displayed throughout their texts, and pieces of poetries. Walt Whitman s thoughts
towards the topic of religion, and the afterlife was displayed throughout one of Whitman s most
prodigious works, Song of Myself. He intertwines his most deepest, and intimate beliefs on self
spirituality, and death. In section 48 of Song of Myself he mentions that, I have said that the soul is not
more than the body, / And I have said that the body is not more than the soul, / And nothing, not God,
is greater to one than one s self is... (Whitman, Walt) In section 49, Whitman continues to add, And as
to you Life I reckon you are the leavings of many deaths, / (No doubt I have died myself ten thousand
times before.) (Whitman, Walt). It seems as though Whitman is implying to readers that

Two Mad Scientists Trying to Play God
By Bonique Obermuller
ENG 4UO
Terry Pratchett once said, God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of His
own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players. In the
novels Frankenstein by Mary Shelly and The Island of Dr. Moreau by H.G. Wells the characters Victor
Frankenstein and Dr. Moreau are scientists who take their experiments too far. Both Victor and
Moreau are very smart men who want to experiment with nature. Victor is smart and curious. Victor
wants to fight disease and discover the mysteries of nature. Moreau is a very ruthless barbaric man
who does not take the feelings of others into consideration. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

And it is here, on this very island, that I sir, have found the very essence of the Devil. (The Island of
Doctor Moreau) His work is different to Victors because it surrounds the concept of fabricating these
grotesque part human part animal hybrid creatures. It seems that Moreau wants to become a kind of
God like figure, and to rule over his new race of people . One can say that Moreau is an impatient
man. It is understood that he wants to create life but the speed with which he wants to do is like that of
God in the book of Genesis. He said, Each time I dip a living creature into the bath of burning pain, I
say, This time I will burn out the entire animal, this time I will make a rational creature of my own.
After all, what is ten years? Man has been a hundred thousand in the making (The Island of Doctor
Moreau 146 147). In his opinion one one hundred thousand years was much too long for him; like the
God in the Christian Religion, create a problem solving thinking creature with a conscience after the
image of himself and other humans. Hence, both men in their own way demonstrate a scientist
perusing their experimentations and trying to play an all powerful God; and attempt to bend the laws
of nature to fit their sinister agendas.
Although there are similarities between Victor and Moreau that cannot be ignored, the differences are
also pronounced. Especially differences in character more so the difference in the way they perceive

Pros And Cons Of Gentrification
GEO 793 BRIEF
INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Wendy Burton, JOR 611
TO: Toronto City Council
FROM: Nusratara BEGAM (500383654)
NEIGHBORHOOD: Liberty Village
RECOMMENDATION: For Liberty Village, I, hereby, make the suggestion for a closer examination
of gentrification. Gentrification constitutes transformation of neighbourhood social spaces in ways
that remodel a place in line with the needs as well as desires of new residents and capital investors
(Kern, 2016).
DISCUSSION: Presently, Liberty Village is undergoing a transformation in order to implement a
creative class employment center amidst a historical industrial buildings theme; hence, adorning a
distinct character (Catungal et al., 2009). The area has been a site for one of the oldest European
settlements in Toronto (Wieditz, 2007). Businesses in Liberty Village can utilize the advantage of
being located close to downtown while simultaneously possessing the advantage of being in a
community, which differs from a standard office tower within the downtown core (Catungal et al.,
2009). Although Liberty Village is in close proximity to downtown, it is a disparate entity and, in fact,
separate; elements that enhance its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

City as both a socio spatial process that is highly unsustainable and socially unjust. Furthermore, we
need to establish an understanding not just as an unfortunate by product of market led or state
facilitated development in Toronto s inner city (and beyond), but as an integral part of Toronto s
planning as well as policy

First Impressions Essay
First impressions are what set the tone in any situation, personal or professional, and ultimately
determine how we proceed behaviorally in that situation. Within a matter of seconds, a person will
make their assessment of another person or a situation an assessment that will carry through the
remainder of the relationship. And while what we say may have an impact on how another person
perceives us, studies have shown that much of our first impressions are based on body language. Body
Language is comprised of various elements that when projected collectively, send non verbal cues as
to a person s overall personality. Something as simple as a handshake or a person s posture can make a

They are rejuvenated by interactions with others and take great joy in socializing. Introvert is
conversely defined as one whose personality is characterized by the state of or tendency toward being
wholly or predominantly concerned with and interested in one s own mental life. While introverts are
not necessarily self centered, per se, their behaviors are less focused on others. They tend to enjoy
being alone and gain great satisfaction from private time, not needing the social interactions to fulfill
them. In the scenario in which John is defined as an extrovert, we see that his out of office venture is
filled with human interaction. While any trip to the store may involve some interaction, John is unique
in that he finds the opportunities to interact. He proactively seeks out chances to talk to and socialize
with the people along his travels. We find in John the Extrovert , that he knows people everywhere he
goes. As we meet John the Introvert , we clearly see a very different experience. Although the sunny
day gleamed along the street, John opts for the shady side of the street. One could conclude that the
shade somehow offers a sense of shelter, both literally and figuratively. Like John the Extrovert, John
the Introvert also sees a lady he has met before, but

How Does Huck Finn Change Throughout The Novel
Huck changes a lot throughout the book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He acts differently at
the end than he does in the beginning. He becomes more mature and gains valuable life experience in
his journey. There are many different signs in the book where he changes. Huck s relationship with
Jim changes dramatically throughout this book. At first he thinks he is just a runaway slave. He plays
tricks on him. He puts a snakeskin in his bed and he gets bit. He feels bad for it. Then he plays another
trick when a fog separates them. He tells Jim that it was all a dream. Huck feels bad again and tells
him the truth in under 15 minutes. Jim is sad that Huck would lie to him. Huck becomes attached to
him after spending valuable time with Jim. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and say we wouldn t borrow the others (65). He also sees that stealing and lying from Mary Jane and
Susan is wrong. The king and the duke were going to steal money from them. Huck doesn t want them
to do that. He knows it is wrong. He doesn t want to steal from kind people. He actually tells Mary
Jane the truth about what is really going on. The Huck in the beginning of the book wouldn t have
done that, but he becomes more conscious of what is right and wrong. He comes up with a plan to let
them keep the money. It doesn t exactly go so smoothly, but they got their money back. His morals do
change about lying and stealing. Huck s moral development does change in this novel. His
relationship with Jim grows closer. He has a different approach to religion. He actually tries to pray
again. Lastly his stances on lying and stealing become clearer to him. He learns what is right and

The Speech-Language Pathology Strategic Planning Committee
Over the past year, I have been involved in several committees at the department and college levels.
When I began my service at UDC, I was a member of the Faculty Senate for two years. This allowed
me to learn the university culture and the importance of shared governance. Thereafter, the
committees in which I volunteered to serve were, not only interdisciplinary and collaborative, but
were those that served the needs of students. For example, in the past, I served as a member of the
College of Arts and Sciences Grievance Committee which met as needed to resolve instructor/student
conflicts. My colleagues on the Committee were representatives of every division in the College. The

The charge of this committee was to make recommendations regarding the programs mission, vision,
strategic initiatives, curricular changes and/or adjustments. Additionally, the SPC identifies critical
strategic issues facing the program and provides recommendations of alternative strategic options.
Even though, we all must remain current with trends in the profession, advances in evidence based
practices, and the needs of all stakeholders of speech language pathology, it falls to the SPC to provide
recommendations relative to those market trends, the needs of the community program and making the
program more viable and competitive than it is presently. Therefore, the SPC is mandated to develop
measureable strategic goals for development and implementation for five year interim periods. In the
beginning of the academic year, the SPC met with faculty and staff to review the current strategic plan
and to map out potential changes and future goals that the SPC will formulate. As a former SLP
program director, I am well familiar with past goals of the program (since I drafted them), including
curricular changes, teaching and employment needs as well as needs of the students as they progress
through their matriculation. Additionally, as a former program director I managed the elimination of
the undergraduate division of the program and wrote a monograph recommending a doctoral program
in speech language pathology to be created once the university forms an infrastructure to
accommodate such a program. As always, the strategic plan is student driven. Those goals that ensure
students are ready to take the board examination (PRAXIS), are ready for employment and patient
engagement are the primary concerns of the SCP. As a former coordinator/program director and
current associate professor, researcher and clinical consultant, student needs are considered

The Iron Cage By Sociologist Max Weber
Have you ever felt trapped within the daily responsibilities and tasks that make up your daily agenda
or planner? Have you ever felt as an individual who s not living his or her own life, but rather living
by the standards and norms opposed and followed by the members of our modern day society? If your
answer is yes to any of the two questions above, then you are experiencing and living what is known
today as the Iron Cage . The Iron Cage refers to a very simple, yet complex theory developed by
sociologist Max Weber. In his theory which addresses a sociological problem regarding standards of
living; Dr. Alana Bibeau further deliberated on how Weber argues, that an individual s life is being
transformed not only by the ideas of efficiency, but shaped by the increasing means of rationality and
calculability. Though it can be argued by some that the increasing means of efficiency, rationality, and
calculability have no impact on the identity and development of a person, I stand strong to the belief
that the increasing means of these three factors, contribute to an individual s loss of identity; at the
same time these three factors also contribute and shape an individual s life, this of course, going in
accordance with what society has been idealized with within the context of Weber s theory of the Iron
Cage .
For my first experimental project, my group and I focused on how wellness centers are Iron Caged

Desmond Tutu Statement On Oppression
Humanity has always oppressed and discriminated against one another since the beginning of time.
Never at a point in history has everyone been completely equal in their civil rights and treatment.
Whether the discrimination stems from the color of one s skin to their religious beliefs to anything that
separates them from the larger population, a target has been placed upon them for others to attack. In
this paper I will investigate how Desmond Tutu s statement on oppression relates to primary texts that
I viewed during the course of this semester.
As Desmond Tutu stated, If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the
oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse
will not appreciate your neutrality. (1984) This example has been illustrated in human treatment of one
another since the start of recorded history. Those who are viewed as different were persecuted in a
variety of ways such as Perpetua being imprisoned and sentenced to death for her religious beliefs to
that of Martin Luther King Jr. who was murdered due to his advocating of equal rights for all.
Neutrality in situations of injustice helps nobody but the oppressor

Sleep Deprivation And Its Effects On Children Essay
According to the Sleepless in America (American Academy of Sleep Medicine, 2014), the

symptoms. Thus we heard suggestions that we should have at least eight hours of sleep a night. In fact,
the duration of sleep affected by multiple factors, such as human has different sleep needs at the
different age, and according to the Openstax (2014), by the time we are 65 years old, we average

seven hours of sleep are less healthy, and I will use some current scientific data to support the claim
that six to seven to eight hours are sufficient for the most population. Adolescents need eight hours of

Essay on Three Recomendations for the Democratic Republic...
Three Recommendations for the DRC
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has undergone two recent wars in 1998 and 1999 2008
with Ugandan rebels and Uganda itself. In the wake of these wars, an estimated 6 million people lost
their lives due to war induced causes. Horrific human rights abuses such as systematic rape and
murder have created a horrific humanitarian crisis in the DRC (The International Coalition for the
Responsibility to Protect website, n.d.). Currently, this violence is associated with conflict materials;
in the area of the DRC, this is not related just to diamonds, but it is related to this and the mining of
gold, copper, cobalt, gold, tantalum and tin. Neither the military nor the government appears to have
concern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The final recommendation for the DRC is a focus on governmental corruption. Many times the
different governmental organizations, municipalities and departments fail to follow the budget passed
by the national legislature, instead using the money for the politicians and bureaucrats own purposes.
By increasing transparency within these ministries, strengthening financial reporting and cash
management procedures, as well as auditing the results, the government could deal with the high level
of corruption and instead spend the money on the citizens and their needs as was expected with the
passage of the budgets. In doing so, the country s poorest citizens will have access to social services
designed to improve health, education and agriculture (Congo Kinshasa: World Bank supports strong
financial management in Democratic Republic of Congo, 2014). With financial integrity the funds can
be utilized for the populations for which they were intended, not to line the pockets of the bureaucrats.
Conclusion
With reform the DRC s government can offer transparency and auditing tools to ensure that the
budgets that are passed are implemented and the monies go to the people for whom they were
intended. This can ensure access to resources such as access to services intended to improve health
outcomes, education and agriculture. Access to health care can

who was jewish that thought and said this: In spite of everything, I still believe people are really good
at heart. Even through the hatred of everyone to her family and herself, they still pushed through and
saw the good in everyone, and after reading the play with her family going in hiding, I agree with
Anne s famous quote. One of the reasons i side with Anne is the way she does kind actions during the
play, mainly at hanukkah. Although i do agree that Anne s quote is true, there are two sides to the
conversation, and i can see why people don t agree with Anne s quote due to Mr. Van Daan s actions
throughout the play. Although i saw mainly kindness in Anne s actions based on Anne s diary, what
convinced me the most to side with Anne was when they had hanukkah together. On page 74 the

My Favorite Reading Of Reading
When I was in elementary and middle school, I loved to read. I could spends hours on end reading

to do was going to the Round Rock Public Library, picking up several books, and immersing myself in

texts as the hero often overcame the many obstacles that stood in his way. I loved to read for my
personal enjoyment and I was always excited when we had free time in between lessons, or activities

My love for sports began when I was five year olds and since then, it has been one of my biggest
passions. I would set an alarm for 6:30 and wake myself up every morning just to watch Sportscenter
before school started. Keep in mind, I was five and six years old. As a result, my biggest goal in life is
to become a sports journalist, preferably at ESPN. If I am given the option to read, or want to kill time
before school, I spend my time reading sports articles and biographies to further my knowledge on the
topic. Now it may seem hypocritical of me to claim I am not an avid reader when the reality is that I
read quite a lot. I suppose I make this claim because I do not read books or novels that many consider
to be classics or important works of art and literature. Instead, I focus on the works of journalists
whom I aspire to be. Whereas most would consider Shakespeare, Dickinson, Twain, and Steinbeck,
etc. as the great authors of literature, I have a different list. The work of Bob Costas, Tim Kurkjan, and
Buster Olney have influenced by decision in becoming a journalist.
Earlier I made a claim suggesting I do not like to read for fun. We found that my claim was mostly
untrue because I do read for fun, but it s very different from most. There are many series and books
that I enjoy reading other than what s on CBS Sports, ESPN, and Bleacher Report. After going

Berlin Wall in Germany
Abstract
This assignment is submitted as partial requirement of Global Trade. This report depicts the sequences
of Berlin Wall. The Berlin Wall, erected November 13, 1961, served to separate communist East
Germany from Western influences. Intended to protect East Germans, the wall actually was erected to
prevent them from leaving the country. The Wall finally came down August 13, 1989, reuniting
families and symbolizing the end of the cold war was near.
The initial plans for Allied occupation of Germany were prepared in 1944 in London by the European

The Berlin Wall was erected in the dead of night and for 28 years kept East Germans from fleeing to
the West. Its destruction, which was nearly as instantaneous as its creation, was celebrated around the
world.
2.1 A Divided Berlin
At the end of World War II, the Allied powers divided conquered Germany into four zones, each
occupied by either the United States, Great Britain, France, or the Soviet Union (as agreed at the
Potsdam Conference). The same was done with Germany s capital city, Berlin.
As the relationship between the Soviet Union and the other three Allied powers quickly disintegrated,
the cooperative atmosphere of the occupation of Germany turned competitive and aggressive.
Although an eventual reunification of Germany had been intended, the new relationship between the
Allied powers turned Germany into West versus East, democracy versus Communism.
In 1949, this new organization of Germany became official when the three zones occupied by the
United States, Great Britain, and France combined to form West Germany (the Federal Republic of
Germany). The zone occupied by the Soviet Union quickly followed by forming East Germany (the
German Democratic Republic).
This same division into West and East occurred in Berlin. Since the city of Berlin had been situated
entirely within the Soviet zone of occupation, West Berlin became an island of democracy within
Communist East Germany.

Changing role of the school principal
The techno century s Leadership From Principals to CEO (Chief Education Officer)
Abstract
The techno century s principalship From Principals to CEO (Chief Education Officer)
The role of the principal is multi faceted. The techno century s principalship in its epitomized role is
about ensuring the relevance of aims, content, practices, and outcomes of formal education to digital
generation. In accepting this coveted role, individual and organisational capability will be imperative,
as will the development of individuals and communities to create and walk the new paradigms.

These shall be leaders having a strong moral purpose and commitment to working to help all schools
improve performance. This view that, in the techno century the days of the self contained, stand alone
school will be superseded, is also argued by the eminent Australian educationalist Hedley Beare: The
best schools are part of a living ecology of learning localities and sites, and can access learning
modules from almost anywhere. The school, therefore, acts not as a sole and exclusive provider of
programs for students enrolled, and does not assume its own curriculum offerings are confined to its
own campus. Rather, it acts as a learning broker to find, contract in, and then manage what is available
on its web of contacts. The opportunities for leadership within this model are immense. The walls of
the school are removed and educators of all levels can contribute to the development of individuals,
groups, schools, and networks both national and international. The challenge for each nation is to
develop the culture and the capacity for the new style of leadership.
Now as effective leadership is recognised as a key feature of successful schools, however, is the style
of leadership needed in the techno century the same as what was required in the 20th century? We can
use examples from industry and business to help us understand leadership for the techno century. Jim

Descriptive Essay About Being Alone
We are dark as the moonless night, yet just as bright; intense and mysterious as the forces that shaped
us. Living in the shadows we fade from sight and mind, but we are always there, forever defending
what is ours. Porous and jagged, we absorb or repel anything as well as anyone who seeks to oppose
us. Whilst the ranks of our enemies dwindle over time we endure, unwavering in our determination.
Alone we are weak, ineffective, and ultimately meaningless. Together we are strong, steadfast and
spectacular in our simplicity. We as one eternally serve the greater purpose, all with the pride and
patience only our kind possess.
At first, we were one, mighty and strong, we were great, but without meaning in our existence,
without scope or direction. Then, there was heat; blinding, raging heat stronger than even the forces
that shaped us, it tore us apart. Shattered our very view of the world and separated us from one
another. As suddenly as the groundbreaking warmth appeared it was gone, leaving me all alone in the
bitter cold to fend for myself. For the first time I was on my own, my reality broken in an instant into
a million tiny pieces; it was overwhelming and strange, yet stunning along with euphoric.
In the beginning the silence was empty and lacking. After a lifetime of togetherness, the lonely feeling
of isolation cut deep within me. To have a mind of my own was both invigorating and petrifying,
thoughts echoing far enough in the vastness to be lost on their own

Courage And Its Three Factors

Writing for Wisdom
29 September 2015 Fortitude and Its Three Factors Fortitude is one of the Cardinal Virtues that have
been around since the ancient world before Christ. This virtue is defined by dictionary.com as mental
and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously. I believe
that this definition is adequate but that it does not encompass the essence of fortitude. This definition
does not go deep enough. Fortitude is having the courage, bravery, and strength to face the pain,
suffering, and problems that we go through during the course of our lives. Courage is one of the key
factors of fortitude. It is defined as the quality of mind that enables a person to face the difficulty,
danger, pain, etc., without fear at thefreedictionary.com. In other words courage is a state of mind that
allows people to be able to face extremely difficult things despite their fear and to
Vaughan 2 work through that fear to keep going to face another day. Soldiers are an example of people
who embody courage. Every day they wake up with the knowledge that they might die and that they
are going to go to battle against people who want to kill them. Many people would buckle under this

CSIS to Act as a Police Force Leading to Self Monitoring Amendments to Bill C 51 allows CSIS, the

grounds to believe a particular activity constitutes a threat to the security of Canada, the service takes
measures, within or outside of Canada, to reduce the threat (Government of Canada, Bill C 51, Section
42, 1). Previously, the role of CSIS was to collect information. Now however, if CSIS believes

The objective with this amendment to the bill is to remove terrorist propaganda by allowing CSIS to
have a more policing function. This will allow terrorist propaganda to be stopped a source that is
common in today s society the internet. I believe the second prong is invalid. Allowing CSIS to have
control over all information with warrants whenever they like is extremely excessive in proportion to
the vast amounts of people and information that is posted online on any given medium. The third
prong is also invalid. I believe this measure greatly impairs the freedom of expression for citizens.
Individuals police themselves and regulate their behaviours because they know they are being
watched. These severely limits discussions of public interested that should be allowed to take place in
a public sphere such as the internet. Finally, I believe the fourth prong which asks whether the
measures taken are proportional the objective is invalid. The new role that CSIS has seriously
undermines the privacy of citizens. This new power and lack of privacy can ultimately restrict the
expression, posting and arguably the thinking of citizens. Three of the four prongs of the Oakes Test

How Poetry Can Create An Atmosphere Of Awareness
Poetry, written by many people from all walks of life, and times of history. Each piece serves a
purpose. Weather to inform us of our impending doom, or to lighten our hearts on the subject of death.
Some poets use this tool to express love to their significant others, and many use the tool to create an
atmosphere of awareness. Poetry can have many different meanings. They come in epics, short
phrases, misguided sentences, abstract pictures, song lyrics, haikus and regular five line paragraphs.
Poetry is a form of entertainment that we use, in some ways to express ourselves and connect to
others. Poetry can also be a way for people to be creative and contribute to society if they aren t good
at painting or acting. Not to say that poetry is for the cast off artists, instead there is a certain breed of
crazy and disturbed you have to be in order to create lasting poetry. Aristotle states that poetry is not to
report what has happened, but what will. Pg. 688. That is to say that a poet can predict the future and
warn people of what could come of their actions, which is one purpose of poetry. J. M. ARMSTRONG
agrees with Aristotle, that a poet shouldn t tell what happened but what will, The poet, on the other
hand, looks for causal relations among fictional or non fictional events, for he cares whether his
composition has a plot with events that happen because of other events and not merely after them .
This is really important in the evidence that poetry is more than just

Difference Between Knowing The Gospel And Being Consumed...
The title of chapter one is called A People Formed. The authors begin to talk about the difference
between knowing the gospel and being consumed by the gospel. They also describe the importance of
understanding the gospel and what the gospel means for the church. It is mentioned that Sin has
fractured the shalom of the universe. (9) God spoke and formed an entire nation , a community of
faith. The gospel creates a collective people. In chapter two, the authors talk about worship and what it
means to rejoice. They also describe our fleshly tendency to idolatry. They use the story of the
Samaritan woman at the well to depict this. The wrong wells never truly satisfy us, and our worship
suffers when we continue to go back to them. It is said that we would rather worship creation than the
Creator. The authors also talk about our tendency to try to cover up our sin. We are all to often running
from God and simultaneously running towards the things that make the situation worse. In our
ignorance we strip God of his authority and power. Chapter three describes community. We are a
family of believers that unite despite race, nationality, economics, and politics, because Christ unites
us. Out of this divinely constructed community flows God s plan for humans to be in relationship with
one another. The authors mention that a community is only as strong as what it is built upon. They say
that, unity in the gospel is much deeper than surface uniformity (45). In Chapter

Benjamin Franklin And The Virtue Of Determination
Determination is Key
Determination is a virtue in which everyone desires but not everyone achieves. In the journal reading
of Benjamin Franklin s autobiography he attempts to become morally perfect. Ultimately, the virtue of
determination is achieved if one follows Benjamin Franklin s steps of setting a goal, creating steps for
that goal, and following through the steps of the goal with patience.
In order for one to start the process of acquiring the determination virtue, an individual must know
what they want to achieve and set a goal for him/her self. Benjamin Franklin was a self made man,
meaning he was successful because of his determination to get to a place of accomplishment.
Benjamin Franklin set a goal for himself by making a list of morals and ethical principles. An
individual can set an objective for themselves as well. For example, a high school student wanting to
become an Orthodontist can set a desire of getting into Dental School in order to make their aspiration
happen. With that mindset follows the determination because of the ambition presented. Benjamin
Franklin used the list of morals and ethical principles as a start to encompass his mission of making
the list of morals and ethical principles perfect. A student can use his/ her motivation to commence
what they want to get out of their future. Therefore, a high school student can make a connection with
Benjamin Franklin in a positive way. In addition, Benjamin Franklin set a goal however, also

The Importance Of Pyrite Recovery From Gangue
Gangue is one of the largest accumulating solid, and is particularly rich in pyrite. Therefore, pyrite
recovery from gangue is not only significant for the environmental protection, but also for the
development and production of chemicals. The dry separation methods, leading to the decreased waste
and cost effectiveness, have received significant attention of many scholars. In this study, the vibration
energy was introduced to promote the separation of particles. The interactions and effect of
comparison of the gas velocity, vibration intensity, and bed height were investigated. Moreover, the
sulfur migration for pyrite recovery from the gangue has been studied by several analytical techniques.
The results show that the segregation efficiency was directly related to the interaction between various
factors. After the separation, the sulfur content of the concentrates of 6+3, 3+1, and 1+0.5 mm was
37.94, 35.43, and 30.61%, respectively. The sulfur segregation s standard deviation (SSSD) was 0.70,
achieving a satisfactory separation efficiency, indicating that pyrite was the foremost material in the
concentrate, and S and Fe migrated in the form of pyrite during the separation process, indicating that
pyrite could be effectively enriched by the dry method of vibration fluidized bed after the separation.

These four high schools had until January 1st, 2017 to change their mascot name to comply with this

possible? In addition, from the evidence it can be concluded as both a YES and NO . Therefore, YES,
a history of Athenian women is possible because all the literary documentation written by Athenian
men, allows us to see men s portrayal of Athenian women as counterfactual and acrimonious.
Therefore, it is also a NO; a history of Athenian women is not possible because women s biographies
could never been depicted. although there

Cotton Mather And The Salem Witch Trials
The period of the Salem Witch Trials was an extremely dark time in New England because mass
hysteria ran rampant, and over 200 people were accused of witchcraft (Blumburg). Trials were held
for the accused witches , and author Cotton Mather was given the task of documenting a number of
the trial proceedings. Mather was an esteemed adult in the Puritan community. Looking back at the
accomplishments in his early life it is quite easy to see why he was held in such high regard. Cotton
Mather was born February 12th, 1663 to a family of highly reputed New England Puritan priests
(Walker). At only 12 years old, following in his father s footsteps, Mather began his education at
Harvard College. Mather faced many hardships and trying times throughout his life. As a child,
Mather developed a bad stammer; because of his speech impediment, many presumed that he would
never be able to enter the ministry (Franklin). Mather was also prone to nervous disorders that drove
him to ecstasy and despair (150). Along with these hindrances, he faced numerous hardships. Mather
lost his first two wives and then lost his third to insanity. As well as losing his wives, he lived to see
all but two of this fifteen children pass away. Increase Mather, Cotton s father, was President of
Harvard, where both he and his son attended. Trying to live up to his father, Cotton aspired to become
president of the college as well, but he was declined and never received the position. Multiple peers of

The Chosen Service User Groups Of People With A Physical...
This assignment will initially define and discuss the chosen service user groups of people with a
physical disability and a young carer. Following this there will be a discussion on identifying the
needs of the young carer and the person they care for, the range of roles the young carer might provide
and the issues involved providing informal care support, the range of support available for both
groups, and the role of policy and legislation.
A person with a physical disability is someone who has physical impairments which they may have
been born with or happened to gain in a result of an injury. Having a physical disability limits you
from doing daily activities yourself.
The Equality Act have stated the definition of someone with a ... Show more content on

Being a young carer for someone who has a physical disability can be very overwhelming so it is
important that the young carers needs are being met. Taking a break from caring such as going away
on holiday, this would be the time for the young carer to relax and just look after themselves for a
short period of time, not worrying about no one but themselves.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is extremely important for a young carer as they tend to forget about
their own health because they are focused on the person they are caring for. Ways the young carer
could maintain a healthy lifestyle is, making sure they have a balanced diet, making sure they do some
form of exercise for 30 minutes a day and to even attend screenings every once in a while at their local
doctors to make sure there isn t any medical problems to be addressed.
Having a social life is definitely something what a young carer should fit into their lifestyle. A social
life can consist of going out for meals, meeting up with a group of friends, going out doing fun
activities and going out on night s outs. Having a social life would be something the young carer could
look forward to and most importantly the young carer would feel like a normal teenager having fun.
Staying in education is very important for a young carer. Getting an education would lead the young
carer to become successful and get good job. Young carers would

A Comparison Of The Film Mulholland Dr.
Sunset Boulevard was one of the first films to cover the gray area between glory and the fall of a
celebrity, but not the only one. Borrowing many plot points from this film, a lesser known 2001 neo
noir movie Mulholland Dr. tells the story of a young starlet named Diane (or Betty, in Diane s dream)
who orders the killing of her girlfriend Camilla (or Rita), who got the role Diane auditioned for. After
a series of dreams and illusions, crushed by the weight of truth and guilt, Diane takes her own life in
her apartment. There are many similarities shared between the two films as both Norma and Diane
suffer from mental health conditions and could not wake up from the illusion induced by the mental
disorder (Diane committed suicide as soon as she came back to reality). Their fantasies about
themselves and the film industry were not an imagined scenario that represents the realization of their
impossible desires, since their wish to enter (or re enter) the industry was not totally impossible; but
rather, the fantasy allows them to desire.6 Norma s fantasy of still being wanted by the industry leads
to her going to Cecil B. DeMille s studio in real life, wanting to work with him again to produce her
film Salomé. A better illustration of this idea is Diane s fantasy with her failed audition, in which she
found closure. In her dream, a Cowboy talked to the director of the film she was auditioning for,
telling him that the rest of the cast can stay, that s up to you. But the

  • 2. Reflective Essay On Astronomy The last time I remember learning about astronomy formally was as far back as elementary school, where we learned about the basics of our solar system s planets and other ideas about space commonly known by most people. Having never studied astronomy at a higher level, going into this class felt similar to traveling to a foreign country, or sailing in foreign waters, so to speak. Many of the concepts and facts have been things I have had little to no prior knowledge of. But regardless of any of that, I cannot express the importance of this area of study in my life. In the past I have read comments online, as well as heard things in real life, about how some subjects have no value in being studied unless one is majoring in them. While my major is not astronomy, much less even science, I still could not disagree more with this sort of thought. I can relate to some of the concepts of astronomy on a very deep and personal level, to the point where my psychological state is affected, and I will explain these thoughts in detail later. While these areas of great interest have not yet been covered in the course, I cannot say that I have not found all of the current topics fascinating. As one who has a deep interest in mathematics, I found a few of the concepts rather thought provoking, and I will again this later. I will lastly discuss what I thought of the material as a whole, what I got most out of it, and what my experiences were during and after learning it. Out of everything ... The Legalization Of Physician Assisted Death The idea of committing euthanasia and physician assisted suicide (PAS) had a historical root in the nineteenth century and referred as skillful alleviation of suffering 1 in Latin transcripts. Recently the theme of the legalization of physician assisted death (PAD) in Canada boosted in 2012. The decision of the British Columbia Supreme Court in the case of Carter v. Canada (Attorney General) was the threshold of the theme. It ruled that the Canadian Criminal Code 2 prohibition against PAD was discriminatory. In term of jurisprudence, assuming the legalization of euthanasia and PAD based on the court s decision in Carter v. Canada has no legal ground. First of all, there is a new law only regarding PAD, whereas there is nothing about euthanasia. Secondly, euthanasia and PAD are two different legal terms. In brief, euthanasia means the deliberate act undertaken by one person with the intention of ending the life of another person to relieve that person s suffering , according to the Canadian Senate 1995 report 3. In PAS, a physician, at the request of a competent patient, prescribe a lethal quantity of medication, intending that the patient will use the medicals to commit suicide 4. They were each able to break the ancient stigmas, and created supplementary freedom when it came to what a piece of literature can offer. They were known to speak upon various topics that were recognized as inappropriate within the society, but that didn t stop them from stating their beliefs. Common similarities that these literacy masters shared amongst each other were constant themes of death, afterlife and religion. Although these three themes made a regular occurrence in their pieces of literature, each writer had different views towards the various themes which were displayed throughout their texts, and pieces of poetries. Walt Whitman s thoughts towards the topic of religion, and the afterlife was displayed throughout one of Whitman s most prodigious works, Song of Myself. He intertwines his most deepest, and intimate beliefs on self spirituality, and death. It seems that Moreau wants to become a kind of God like figure, and to rule over his new race of people . One can say that Moreau is an impatient man. It is understood that he wants to create life but the speed with which he wants to do is like that of God in the book of Genesis. These shall be leaders having a strong moral purpose and commitment to working to help all schools improve performance. This view that, in the techno century the days of the self contained, stand alone school will be superseded, is also argued by the eminent Australian educationalist Hedley Beare: The best schools are part of a living ecology of learning localities and sites, and can access learning modules from almost anywhere. The school, therefore, acts not as a sole and exclusive provider of programs for students enrolled, and does not assume its own curriculum offerings are confined to its own campus. Rather, it acts as a learning broker to find, contract in, and then manage what is available on its web of contacts. The opportunities for leadership within this model are immense. The walls of the school are removed and educators of all levels can contribute to the development of individuals, groups, schools, and networks both national and international. The challenge for each nation is to develop the culture and the capacity for the new style of leadership. Now as effective leadership is recognised as a key feature of successful schools, however, is the style of leadership needed in the techno century the same as what was required in the 20th century? We can use examples from industry and business to help us understand leadership for the techno century. Jim Collins has a five level hierarchy of leadership: Level V: Executive. Builds enduring ... • 24. Descriptive Essay About Being Alone We are dark as the moonless night, yet just as bright; intense and mysterious as the forces that shaped us. Living in the shadows we fade from sight and mind, but we are always there, forever defending what is ours. Porous and jagged, we absorb or repel anything as well as anyone who seeks to oppose us. Whilst the ranks of our enemies dwindle over time we endure, unwavering in our determination. Alone we are weak, ineffective, and ultimately meaningless. Together we are strong, steadfast and spectacular in our simplicity. We as one eternally serve the greater purpose, all with the pride and patience only our kind possess. At first, we were one, mighty and strong, we were great, but without meaning in our existence, without scope or direction. Then, there was heat; blinding, raging heat stronger than even the forces that shaped us, it tore us apart. Shattered our very view of the world and separated us from one another. As suddenly as the groundbreaking warmth appeared it was gone, leaving me all alone in the bitter cold to fend for myself. For the first time I was on my own, my reality broken in an instant into a million tiny pieces; it was overwhelming and strange, yet stunning along with euphoric. Allowing CSIS to have control over all information with warrants whenever they like is extremely excessive in proportion to the vast amounts of people and information that is posted online on any given medium. The third prong is also invalid. I believe this measure greatly impairs the freedom of expression for citizens. Individuals police themselves and regulate their behaviours because they know they are being watched. These severely limits discussions of public interested that should be allowed to take place in a public sphere such as the internet. Finally, I believe the fourth prong which asks whether the measures taken are proportional the objective is invalid. The new role that CSIS has seriously undermines the privacy of citizens. They also describe the importance of understanding the gospel and what the gospel means for the church. It is mentioned that Sin has fractured the shalom of the universe. (9) God spoke and formed an entire nation , a community of faith. The gospel creates a collective people. In chapter two, the authors talk about worship and what it means to rejoice. They also describe our fleshly tendency to idolatry. They use the story of the Samaritan woman at the well to depict this. The wrong wells never truly satisfy us, and our worship suffers when we continue to go back to them. It is said that we would rather worship creation than the Creator. The authors also talk about our tendency to try to cover up our sin. We are all to often running from God and simultaneously running towards the things that make the situation worse. In our ignorance we strip God of his authority and power. Chapter three describes community. We are a family of believers that unite despite race, nationality, economics, and politics, because Christ unites us. The dry separation methods, leading to the decreased waste and cost effectiveness, have received significant attention of many scholars. In this study, the vibration energy was introduced to promote the separation of particles. The interactions and effect of comparison of the gas velocity, vibration intensity, and bed height were investigated. Moreover, the sulfur migration for pyrite recovery from the gangue has been studied by several analytical techniques. The results show that the segregation efficiency was directly related to the interaction between various factors. After the separation, the sulfur content of the concentrates of 6+3, 3+1, and 1+0.5 mm was 37.94, 35.43, and 30.61%, respectively. The sulfur segregation s standard deviation (SSSD) was 0.70, achieving a satisfactory separation efficiency, indicating that pyrite was the foremost material in the concentrate, and S and Fe migrated in the form of pyrite during the separation process, indicating that pyrite could be effectively enriched by the dry method of vibration fluidized bed after the separation.
