The Importance Of Title IX
Under Title IX, a school is permitted to provide certain sex segregated areas, such as restrooms and
housing, as well as certain single sex classes and sports teams. Transgender students must be allowed
to participate in activities and access facilities consistent with their gender identity. Restrooms: While
a school may make individual user restrooms an option, they are not permitted to require transgender
students to use these facilities, or restrooms inconsistent with their gender identity when other students
are not required to do so. Athletics: Title IX regulations allow a school to sponsor sex segregated
sports based on competitive skill, level of contact, and/or relevant research based medical knowledge

Psychological Torture and the Fairness of Poverty in “The...
Psychological Torture and the Fairness of Poverty The Lesson , by Toni Cade Bambara, is a first
person narration of a young girl named Sylvia who through the teachings of Miss Moore learns about
the socioeconomic gap between the wealthy and poor. White Torture , by Farnoosh Moshiri, is a short
story told in third person of a woman enduring the psychological pain of torture which results in the
audience questioning the morality of the subject at hand. While both stories differ greatly in tone and
theme, they both demonstrate the potential of short stories when utilized properly. Bambara s use of
Sylvia as the protagonist of the narrative gives the story a somewhat playful tone while tackling a
subject that is far from it. While in the taxi Sylvia thinks to herself, So we heading down the street and
she s boring us silly about what things cost and what our parents make and how much goes for rent
and how money ain t divided up right in this country (Bambara 1143). This quote shows that by using
Sylvia s first person take with the story, Bambara gives us a humorous approach of a child that must
slowly come to the terms with the reality of wealth in the country. Moshiri s story White Torture, goes
with a third person approach when telling her story. The woman who is the focal point of the story is
never named and we only get glimpse of her history based on short flashbacks. The only real concrete
information the audience is given is that she is in a holding facility

Clinton Impeachment Analysis
Considering what you learned and know about Clinton, was impeachment an appropriate response?
No, I do not think that the impeachment an appropriate response. In the New York Times Overview,
one quote that really stands out is from Mr. Gephardt Our founding fathers created a system of
government of men, not of angels, No one standing in this House today can pass a puritanical test of
purity that some are demanding that our elected leaders take. If we demand that mere mortals live up
to this standard, we will see our seats of government lay empty and we will see the best, most able

Paris Was Becoming The World s Hub For Art Innovators
Beginning towards the end of the nineteenth century, Paris was becoming the world s hub for art
innovators; a place that is widely regarded as the birthplace of modern art. Artists of all disciplines,
from sculptors to musicians, made their way to this city to pursue their passions in a community of
like minded and passionate individuals. These artists came from all over the world, in a time before
the world was made flat with commercial aviation. Once they arrived, they often found themselves in
suboptimal living conditions, sometimes even lacking running water. Despite these obstacles,
Montmartre, a hillside neighborhood on the north bank of Paris, managed to draw an impressive
artistic crowd, and would eventually foster the birth of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This type of artistic suppression was happening all over the world in varying degrees. It drove many
artists out of their homelands to places that were more accepting of their artistic expression. Although
Kandinsky didn t find himself in the company of the cubists of Montmartre, his story demonstrates the
artistic atmosphere of the world at the time. Many artists were eager to find a haven where they could
freely express themselves in the company of like minded individuals, and to many of them, that place
was Montmartre. Although there were certainly critics of modern artists within Paris itself, their
general response to the artistic pioneers was more akin to arrogant dismissal as opposed to the outright
suppression of places such as Russia. Another factor to consider is the somewhat overlooked
economic theory of knowledge spillover. As described by Jane Jacobs in the 1960 s, it explains the
obscure rise of particular industries in certain cities. This concept seeks to prescribe a name to the
process of like minded individuals who live together in a community sharing ideas with each other in
casual conversations and various other exchanges. Some examples include the steel industry of
Pittsburgh, the technology industry of San Francisco, and more pertinently, the art industry in Paris at
the turn of the twentieth century. The theory claims that innovations arise most quickly in areas

Cosmetic Surgery Of Breast Augmentation
Breast Augmentation
Today, more and more women think about cosmetic surgery to make their bodies look perfect. The
most popular kind of plastic surgery is breast augmentation. Some women want to enlarge their
breasts; the others wish to correct their sagging bust, and they go to a surgeon and ask him or her to
change their body. A short term effect of such operation is full satisfaction with the new appearance
and improvement of sexual life. Women often feel excited and think that their life will change for the
best. However, such feelings are often temporarily, and they may develop into something worse.
Therefore, there is another side of breast augmentation, which is less pleasant than the previous one.
Such long term effects as depression, pain, discomfort, various infections as well as suicide are
experienced by many women who underwent a plastic surgery. Consequently, the theme of breast
augmentation is important since it relates to thousands of women who hesitate whether to change their
breasts or not, especially those women who have already made an operation. Although breast
augmentation helps women become more self confident in their beauty, this type of cosmetic surgery
has also many negative effects such as unwillingness to breastfeed, different health problems, and
even suicide.
The first attempts of breast augmentation appeared in 1895 when a lipoma was transferred to the
breast (Ramachandran). After that, some injections were tried; and only in 1962, the modern

How Did Henri Matisse Create A Motif
Henri Matisse is a well known French painter that was born 1869 and later dies in 1954 at the age of
84 years old. Being well known and famous for several paintings, he was given a charge by a well
known Russian Sergri Shchukin. He was charged to produce three canvases to decorate Sergei
mansion staircases in Moscow. On incident, the painting now recognized as Dance I was just a sketch
that Matisse had created. The initial sketch and final version of the painting is quite similar in concept.
Matisse did use the idea of another famous painting Bonheur de Vivre. The idea he used was the
motif. A motif is a distinct decorative pattern or design. Many of early 1900 art pieces expressed
pleasure joy and happiness. The painting of Dance I has the same concept and has what some believe
to be bean dolls joyously dancing with one another. Unlike the paintings that Michelangelo produced
using large and realistic humans, the bean dolls do not have actual physiques. The make of their
bodies is not as realistic. The women in the painting Two Fridas was not as detailed as Michelangelo
figures but they had more of a composition than the bean dolls that Matisse produced. Matisse often
made his drawings seem to be effortless, amazing other painters and followers. Because Matisse
produced such simple but yet paintings that individuals were able to interpret and understand allowed
him to stand out from other painters. Some painters spend hours trying to figure out ... Show more

art they need to be open to other opinions. For example, when I first looked at the painting titled

example how we see things differently as humans even though we are looking at the same

Women s Roles During The American Armed Forces
Combat roles are grueling and nerve breaking, with a lot of commitment and endurance required.
Masculinity is the most suited trait for anyone to fit adequately and perform effectively. Mostly, men
fit well in these roles due to their masculinity. However, women too, can perform as equally as
effective as men. The effectiveness and suitability of inclusion of women in major combat roles in the
American Armed forces has faced heated debates, between people who believe that the combat roles
are most suited for men, and those that term these people as sexists and argue that women aren t as
qualified and capable of fighting in war. In essence, women can be as effective as their male
colleagues in these combat roles.
Combat roles in the military and armed forces entail soldiers fighting at the battleground, under the
most adverse conditions, with heavy artillery and other supplies. Combat roles involve endurance and
physical strength, which most women might lack, whereas the opportunity to represent the county at
war needs to be open to all who are willing to sign up as a show of fairness in creation of opportunity.
Feminist proponents want more women included in combat positions and serving at the war front,
whereas opponents of the move, in public discourses, view this as unnecessary since women are
weaker. Personally, I think women should sign up and be allowed to fight just like their male
counterparts. The United States Armed Forces comprises of the Army, the Marine Corps,

The Universal Declaration Of Human Rights
With the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), the concept of human rights has gradually
become one of the most commonly accepted universal norms, referred to in United Nations
resolutions, national constitutions and regional and international treaties. Even so, human rights
violations occur on an almost daily basis in countries around the world. The term seems to be at the
forefront of contemporary political discourses, with its meaning at most times remaining unclear. In
theory, human rights serve the sole purpose of protecting the inherent dignity of all representatives of
the human family (UDHR 1948) However, there is much disagreement when it comes to theoretically
justifying that each human being has rights by virtue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will then serve as a basis for my main argument that human rights are socially constructed and do
not exist outside of the realm of politics. This will then feed into the second part of the question where
I shall discuss the prioritisation of community values over an alleged universal foundation.
Structure
The first part of the essay will concern itself with a more genealogical approach by looking at early
philosophical origins of human rights and how these evolved over the years. With this I seek to outline
the fact that while efforts to institutionalise human rights were initially a reaction towards global
injustice and oppression, in contemporary politics they are used to create power relations, and
implicitly, inequality. This will provide a good basis for the second part in which I will look at the
incompatibilities within the theory religion versus Rawls consensus based theory. Analysing the
multitude of frameworks with their different ways of approaching and grounding rights underlines and
reinforces the fact that there can t be a universal foundation for human rights. The third part will deal
with the fact that trying to ground rights into one universal foundation creates an exclusion of those
who are different and how we can seek to move away from this problem.
Natural Law and Natural Rights
The origin of the modern rights discourse is that of natural law dating back to antiquity. Plato was one
of the first advocates for a universal

Essay Comparing Half Caste And Search For My Tongue Culture
Comparing Half Caste and Search for my Tongue
Culture. It s a very complicated term, with many different interpretations, but what does it actually
mean? In this essay I will compare two poems from completely different cultures to see if we get any
comparisons, the poems I have chosen to write about are Half Caste by John Agard and Search for my
Tongue by Sujata Bhatt, I have chosen these because I feel they raise some very significant points. But
back to the question mentioned earlier, what is culture? Everyone has a different view on culture, but
to me it is a huge influence on our everyday lives, many different issues contribute to the term Culture
from the way we dress, to our beliefs, attributes, how we live, and
even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, John Agard was originally from Guyana but moved to
England in 1977, his mother was Portuguese but born in Guyana and his father is black. One of the
things he likes about living in England is the wide range of people he meets: The diversity of cultures
here is very exciting . He is very passionate about his culture and gets highly agitated by the view of
racial origins, which is implied in the word Half Caste . This term is now considered rude and
insulting.
The other poem that I am studying is Search for my Tongue by Sujata
Bhatt; once again I have done some preliminary research just to get a feel for the author herself. I was
able to find out that; Sujata Bhatt was born in the Indian state of Gujarat, where her mother tongue
was
Gujarati. Later, her family lived for some years in the United States, where she learned English. She
now lives in Germany. She has chosen to write poems in English, rather than Gujarati. But a number
of her poems, including the one I am studying, are written in both languages.
In an interview with the BBC she says, I have always thought of myself as an Indian who is outside
India . Her mother tongue is for her an important link to her family, and to her childhood, That s the
deepest layer of my identity , and therefore is a very sensitive issue for her.
Now for the difficult information, what are the poems about?! I

Essay Similarities between Greek and Egyptian Mythologies
The ancient world was comprised of mysteries. There were no scientific explanations for the structure
of the world, the existence of humans, or the meaning of life. To explain these dilemmas they turned
to religion and mythology. However, as were often isolated geographically there was no universal
answer to any of these questions, though many cultures many have derived similar solutions to certain
questions, despite being separated by large physical distances, such as the Greeks and Egyptians.
Although there are minor differences, Greek and Egyptian mythologies share many similarities.
One parallel between Greek and Egyptian creation stories is that they both begin with a God or Gods
being created from the universe. The creation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Greek and Egyptian mythologies, there is a supreme God. In Greek tradition this was Zeus, Zeus
was now King of all the gods and lived on Mount Olympus. (Corsar, Reid Rooney, and Smith 9) In
Egyptian mythology, this position was first held by Osiris, and the other deities herald him by saying
He lives, the King of Upper and Lower Egypt, beloved of Ra, living forever! Heir of Geb, Osiris,
beloved of the gods, Osiris, given life, endurance, joy, health, all happiness, like Ra! (Kaster 81) After
being murdered by Set, he became ruler of the Netherworld, and was replaced as King of Upper and
Lower Egypt, by his son, Horus. The idea of a supreme deity is common in both Greek and Egyptian
traditions.
Some Greek deities can also be identified with Egyptian ones, in particular the Greek Dionysus and
the Egyptian Osiris. They both preside over fertility, in addition to their other duties. Another
similarity is that they are both twice born. Dionysus was born first from Semele s womb and then later
from Zeus s thigh. Osiris was the son of Geb and Nut and was resurrected by Isis after being murdered
by Set. (Livingston, Greek and Egyptian Religious Parallels) Other Gods and Goddesses that are
similar include Horus and Apollo, Isis and Demeter, Hathor and Aphrodite, Neith and Athena and Bast
and Artemis. (FOOTNOTE GREEK AND EGYPTIAN RELIGIOUS PARALLELS) There appears to
be an overlap between many deities in Greek and Egyptian mythologies.

Truman s Ethical In The Movie The Truman Show
Everyone deserves the right to live in the real world and have real relationships. It is unethical to have
your whole life rehearsed. In the movie The Truman show directed by Peter Weir they create a fake
town where they convince the star of the show that it is the real world. Their fake town is full of
hidden cameras to capture every moment of his life. Truman is completely oblivious to the fact that it
is just a movie. Throughout the movie they do everything they can to keep him from finding out the
truth about the Truman show. The movie The Truman show shows that what Christof did was
unethical. Through hiding the truth about his life from him, also when Christof deceived Truman by
making him think that he was living in the real world for his own personal gain, and having everyone
in his life be actors.
Throughout the Truman show they lie and are always hiding the truth about what his purpose
is.Truman is unaware that he is the start of a world wide TV show called The Truman show he
believes that he is just living his normal life like everyone else. One example of Truman being lied to
is when Truman was younger, him and his dad went out on a boat. While they were on the boat a big
storm hit and his dad fell off the boat and drown. His dad did not actually die, he just acted like he did
because that s what the director told him to do. What they did to him by faking his dads death was
very cruel. No one should ever have to go through that. Even if everyone knew it was fake Truman did
not.
In The Truman show they are constantly convincing Truman that the town he lives in is the real world.
They convince him by making the fake town look real, like by giving him a job, a wife, a house, and
lots of friends. The way they make their world is unrealistic as it is to perfect to be real. They distract
Truman every time he gets close to figuring it out. When Truman went to the Hospital to see his wife
at work. While he was on his way to the operating room many of the actors try to stop him because it
is not a real operating room. Truman makes it all the way there and then gets lead out of the Hospital.
Truman is also distracted when he wants to leave to go to New Orleans. He is stopped when the ticket

The Glorious Mansa Musa Essay
Mansa Musa, the venerable emperor of Mali, famous throughout Africa, revered by his people, was a
true renaissance man. Why has history forgotten such a man when it has remembered Julius Caesar,
Henry VIII or Napoleon, but not this man? It is because small minded white men only respect other
white men, they see all others as inferior. The white dominance of history is obvious when only
recently are Asians being recognized, only recently people have heard of men like Genghis Khan or
Confucius. Yet Africans have also had great people who need to be recognised and acknowledged.

legend in the eyes of the people, a man so rich, but generous, powerful, yet humble, and intelligent,
but not aloof.
Mansa Musa had a vision of making Timbuktu the educational center of Africa. While on his hajj he
collected the greatest scholars in Africa. He convinced some of the of the finest minds of Cairo to
come, for Mali would only have the best. The mosque of Sankore became the primary teaching centre
and laid the foundations of the University of Sankore (Coleman De Graft Johnson). With Musa s
patronage the University of Sankore became one of the finest universities of the time. The university
unlike European universities at the time had no central administration or required courses, instead
students focused on specific topics such as religious studies, law and literature(Khiar, Zulkifi).
Because of the University of Sankore today colleges and universities allow people to major in a

Music Concert Review Essay
October 28th was the day of the Latin Music Recital in the Caine Performance Hall. This was only
one of many performances that week. Latin is a genre of music that unless I have come across it at
other such events I have not heard it otherwise. Thus it is a genre that I had to do some research on in
order to better appreciate what I was hearing. This concert was basically split into two parts each part
had a main soloist on guitar that was accompanied by other musicians. The concert hall, since this was
going to be mainly solo music to begin with, had all of the sound absorbing curtains up so that all
would be able to hear the solo guitarist. A main center spot light on stage helped me to know where to

instrument. The guitar soloist was on stage and performed roughly six or eight pieces, none of which
were announced by title. At the conclusion of those six or eight pieces the guitarist then introduced a
clarinetist and a flutist who would take turns playing solos with her. The two other players switched

Strindberg s The Stronger Essay
Strindberg s The Stronger
In The Stronger Strindberg focuses upon the role and importance of women at the turn of the 20th
century. This is portrayed through a conversation of two women who have different lives and social
statuses. Mrs. X is married and therefore socially stronger. Miss Y is unmarried and rather poignantly,
doesn t speak.
At the turn of the 20th century, women were seen as 2nd class citizens to men. However, this entire
play is set in a women s cafĂŠ where
Strindberg s purpose is to allow the two characters to fully express their feelings rather than be
influenced and controlled by men. Since the play focuses upon the role and importance of marriage
and family, the setting of Christmas is significant. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strindberg has used this direction to show the audience that Mrs X knows that Miss Y is stronger
through silence. She is trying to fight her strength and get a reaction from her, thus taking away her
power.
Stage directions can also be used to reveal a characters emotion. For example, Miss Y glances up from
her paper, nods perfunctually, then goes on reading. This is the first time in the play that the characters
are together. Strindberg has used this direction to show the audience how Miss Y feels about Mrs X.
She is intimidated by Mrs X and uses the paper as a barrier . She doesn t reciprocate Mrs Xs greeting
and is being defensive. This signals a weakness to the audience and the direction has been used to
reveal a little bit of
Miss Y s personality.
The personalities of the characters can be explored by stage directions. For example, (With Malken s
pop gun) Loads it, points it and pops it at Miss Y who looks momentarily startled Here, Mrs X is
striving for a reaction and attention from Miss Y. She has gone too far and invaded Miss Y s personal
space. Mrs X has used a child s toy to do this and is being childish. Mrs X has lost her strength.
Strindberg has used this stage direction to show the audience how persistent Mrs X is when seeking
attention from Miss Y.
Strindberg also uses stage directions to help build tension.

Gulliver s Travels Essay
Gulliver s Travels: British Society and American Society
Time is a dressmaker specializing in alterations. In Jonathan Swift s fictional novel, Gulliver s Travels,
Lemuel Gulliver, is the narrator and protagonist who goes on four adventurous voyages. He is a
practical minded Englishman trained as a surgeon who takes to the seas when his business fails. The
details in his style of narration makes it clear that he is bright or intelligent, and well educated, but his
insights are naĂŻve and gullible. Throughout his journeys, Gulliver is a serious first person narrative
that hardly shows any signs of self reflection or deep emotional response. Certainly, sometimes his
obsession with the facts of navigation, becomes difficult to comprehend, as his fictional editor,
Richard Sympson, makes it clear when he explains having had to cut out nearly half of Gulliver s
repetition. In Gulliver s Travels, Swift introduces many places that serve as a looking glass ... Show

Chronic Kidney Disease Analysis
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a leading cause of the critical mortality and morbidity, the Global
Burden of Diseases 2010 study reported that CKD contributes to approximately 740,000 deaths
annually, making it the 18th leading cause of death (Benigni et al. 2010, Lozano et al. 2012). CKD is a
progressive condition as either kidney damage or decreased kidney function over time (Figliuzzi et al.
2014). The main causes of CKD include glomerulonephritis, diabetic kidney disease, hypertensive
nephropathy, polycystic kidney disease and other factors, which gradually decrease the glomerular
filtration rate (Karczewski and Malkiewicz. 2015). The major outcomes of CKD include progression
to kidney failure, complication of decreased kidney function, and cardiovascular disease. Moreover,
patients with CKD are at high risk for progression to the end stage renal disease (ESRD) (Levey et al.
2003). The increasing number of patients with CKD, medicare spending on these patients exceeds $29

France Is The Most Romantic Place On Earth

One of its most well known landforms is the Eiffel Tower. Another is The Louvre which is an art

because I ve always wanted to go there. Climate Geology France has long hot summers and cool
winters. Southern France remains balmy throughout spring which is March May and in autumn which
is September October, which are much better times to visit. Prices are also much cheaper.
Northeastern areas have warm summers and colder winters. The winters have rainfall distributed
throughout the year and snowfall likely in winter. Summer which is June August, is the peak season.
During this time it is warm and sunny across much of the country. One of the prettiest natural
spectacles occurs in Provence, which is between the last week of June and first week of August. This

Oxygen Diffusion
Respiration, too, is essential to human life. In fact we breathe 15 25 times per minute. When you suck
air in, you use your diaphragm and intercostal muscles to contract and expand your chest cavity,
which shrinks when you exhale. You breathe in air, and it goes through your mouth or nose into or
epiglottis. From there, it transfers into your trachea, and then into the vocal cords, which are in the
larynx. Next, it travels until it reaches the bronchi, and is then relayed into both of your lungs. Air
goes along a path of bronchioles which become smaller and smaller until it arrives at the alveoli.
Inside these, oxygen concentration is high, and as a result of this, oxygen diffuses from the alveolar
membrane into the pulmonary capillary. When this process begins, hemoglobin located in your
erythrocytes is bounded with carbon dioxide, and a minuscule amount of oxygen. Oxygen is then
bound to hemoglobin, and carbon dioxide is released. (Freudenrich, 2000)

Food companies do best on Instagram because their customers become appetized after seeing pictures
of appealing food. Mike could post pictures of fresh made fudge and candy to entice people to stop by.

Different Cultures That We May Encounter As Therapists
Thus far in the course we have learned how important it is to have basic knowledge on various
cultures that we may encounter as therapists. According to Choudhuri, Santiago Rivera, Garrett
(2012), culture is defined as the personification of a worldview through learned and transmitted
beliefs, religious and spiritual traditions, psychological processes, values, and practices. Moreover, it
is a way of life that is shaped by ecological, historical, economic, and political factors on a specific
group of people (Choudhur et al., 2012). I have learned culture goes beyond just race and ethnicity.

Dominicans were a part of the Dominican culture.

In terms of sources, I happened to find two interesting articles exploring cultural components of a

consumers think about organic food. I choose this article because I was interested in exploring if
Spanish food can be healthy or organic. While I was in the market, I saw plenty of vegetables and
produce, but I was unsure if there were any organic products. The article explored the view of organic
food on the Spanish culture (Vega‐Zamora, Torres‐Ruiz, Murgado‐Armenteros, Parras‐Rosa, 2014). It
was viewed as higher value and more expensive product. Due to this view of organic food,
consumption is greatly impacted in the Spanish culture. Similar to the article above, I found another

ut camp really changed my life. This happened while I was new to Boy Scouts. It started off with me
at my house and my parents wanting me to go camping. The problem was that I did not want to go to

My friend was about the same at that time. There was a leader that was kind, caring and
understanding. The mood went from sad to happy and the tone went from depressing to exciting. This
event changed my life for the good. That day that I traveled to camp, I was scared. I knew that it
would be very far away from home and I would be far away from home for a long time. Even though I
pleaded to stay home my parents kept saying, You will enjoy camping.

Themes in John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men Essay
John Steinbeck, an American novelist, is well known for his familiar themes of depression and
loneliness. He uses these themes throughout a majority of his novels. These themes come from his
childhood and growing up during the stock market crash. A reader can see his depiction of his
childhood era. In Of Mice and Men, Steinbeck shows the prominent themes of loneliness, the need for
relationships, and the loss of dreams in the 1930s through the novels character. Lennie Small, a
mentally impaired man, is first introduced to us traveling with George. George, however, is not related
to Lennie. Lennie travels with George because no one else understands him like he does. Lennie says,

George Milton is a hard working man who travels beside Lennie, yet he would rather travel by
himself. He would not have to worry about anyone but himself. He travels with Lennie, and we often
find him telling Lennie how much better off he could be without him. One simple reaction to Lennie
sets George off on a rant enough to say, God a mighty, if I was alone I could live so easy. I could go
get a job an work, an no trouble. No mess at all, and when the end of the month come I could take my
fifty bucks and go into town and get whatever I want. Why, I could stay in a cathouse all night. I could
eat any place I want, hotel or any place, and order any damn thing I could think of. An I could do all

An whatta I got ... I got you! You can t keep a job and you lose me ever job I get. Jus keep me shovin
all over the country all the time. (Steinbeck 12) This is important because it shows that George wants
to be alone but does not truly want to be lonely. Lennie is George s responsibility. George views
Lennie as a brother, friend, and partner in crime. Without Lennie, George is lonely but he knows that
he saves Lennie from his own personal misery in the end. George knows he needs Lennie just as much
as Lennie needs him. He needs his friendship and is lonely after he takes that friendship away from
himself. After killing Lennie, there is a shift in George s attitude. Killing

to Taxation for professional tax accountants. Introduction about the ICAEW Code of Ethics The
purpose of ICAEW code of ethics is to set a professional standard of the ethical obligations that
professional accountants can follow. The professional accountants have a moral obligation to take into

The Ethics code and the guidance is an important complement to the legal system of the accounting, it
covers the issues which are tend to fall into the gray areas, such as behaviors that are not forbidden,
yet not specially permitted by the law. (John Wily Sons, 2015) It cannot be replaced by other legal
accounting system. Strengthen the accounting professional ethics can effectively improve the level of
professional accountants. If the accountant does not have the awareness of this ethics and lack of the
professional skills, it will be difficult to ensure the authenticity and reliability of the information. So
the ethics and the guidance played an important supplement to the legal system for accounting. For
example, when a tax accountant is facing a situation where the client wants to fudge their income to
avoid paying a high tax. The client may pay the accountant fees for helping them evade tax. In doing
this, the accountant may be long term benefit, But if their actions are exposed, severe penalties would

accountant to reject the illegal actions such as tax evasion.(Swails,2000)

The Rabbits-Deconstruction of Visual Essay
John Marsden s and Shaun Tan s epic picture book, The Rabbits , is an allegorical fable about
colonisation, told from the perspective of the natives. An unseen narrator describes the coming of
rabbits in the most minimal detail, an encounter that is at first friendly and curious, but later darkens
as it becomes apparent that the visitors are actually invaders. My chosen image (above), embodies the
overall style of the book which is deliberately sparse and strange. Both text and image conveys an
overall sense of bewilderment and anxiety as native numbat like creatures witness the environmental
devastation under the wheels of a strange new culture, represented by the rabbits. The image projects a
painting of a striking sunset and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This metaphorically suggests that the rabbits have already begun to construct their homes, and now
nobody can stop them. Their forceful invasion into the native indigenous landscape is further
emphasised by the dead lizard featured in the foreground, which has been brutally squashed with
seemingly no remorse. Furthermore, the buildings in the background are entirely formed by jigsaw
pieces. Thus Tan presents us with a visual allegory of the rabbit society as manipulative and un
relentless nature. The small strip across the top of the visual, presents us with an alternate world that is
natural and heaven like where numbat like creatures are suspended upon tree branches. The gaze of
the numbat like creatures leads us to the quote, They didn t live in trees like we did . Through the
inclusion of text Tan portrays that the numbat like creatures don t understand the rabbits. This quote
does not show any strong emotions, but instead the blatant tone bestows a clueless feeling to us, the
responders. This section is very small in contrast to the rest of the image showing the rabbits. This
symbolically represents the unprecedented manner in which the rabbits came and quickly made their
own houses . At observing the picture more closely, we can conclude that where the numbat like
creatures are sitting, the sky is lighter compared to where the rabbits are placed; implying that the
lighter colour is the time the numbat like creatures were familiar

Classification of mental disorders keeps improving and changing over time with the goal of providing
more accurate diagnosis and proper intervention. As guides for clinician, the formal Diagnostic
Statistical Manual has categorical description of a variety of illnesses that are classified based on
symptoms (Kite, Gullifer Tyson, 2012). Recently, the new version of the DSM raises many
controversies since it suggests merging Asperger syndrome into the category of autism disorder to
reduce confusion and therefore eliminating their differentiation. Their common diagnosis would now

High functioning autism in adulthood without delay in language development is similar to adult who

anatomic structure of the brain finds out that autism and Asperger could be cause by abnormalities in
mini columnar organization and suggests that they may share similar biological pattern regardless the

more dispersed cells than normal functioning individuals. Given this clinical overlap between the two

Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton
Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton is set in a small New England town in the early twentieth century. It
revolves around three main characters: Ethan Frome, a rural farmer; Zeena Frome, his chronically ill
wife; and Mattie Silver, Zeena s cousin who lives with them in a serving capacity. These characters
each have their own journey through this story, but those journeys entwine and affect everyone else
with the actions each character takes. Ethan Frome as the title character perhaps has the most
important journey in this novel, though, and several recurring themes affect each of his actions and
decisions. Marriage, love and desire, and desire versus duty are the themes most guiding Ethan Frome
as he works through his feelings for the two women in his life because they define every step of his
journey from beginning to end.
To begin, Ethan s unhappy marriage with Zeena is the starting point from which all of his decisions
are made. The marriage itself happened under almost false pretenses when Zeena came to help care
for his sick mother. After being in such an oppressive, silent environment for so long, Zeena s
volubility was music in his ears, and her capable, competent attitude restored his shaken balance and
magnified his sense of what he owed her (26). This initial exposure to Zeena led Ethan to a kind of
bedazzlement, so when he saw her ready to leave after his mother s funeral, he was seized with an
unreasoning dread of being left alone on the farm and asked her to stay

More specifically, the role of women in society changed. While men were away at war, women often
took over business operations. In fact, by 1918, nearly three million women were employed in the
textile, food, and war industries. Many restrictions on women s participation in these industries were
torn down during World War 1. Women slowly started gaining more social responsibilities. They
started working as streetcar conductors and radio operators; they also worked in logging camps and
steel mills. During the war, they not only had to support their households, but also the war effort. After
the war, their labor was far from over. It was now more socially acceptable to continue working. In
addition, many men died in the war and women had to work single handedly to support their family.
The public view of war changed after World War 1. Before the war, the public had seen war as it was
in the 1800s with large armies attacking each other in open fields in battles that rarely lasted for more
than a day. However, new technology and tactics made warfare much more gruesome. One tactic
became known as trench warfare. When the British released a realistic film about the Battle of the
Somme, a battle fought by Britain and France against Germany, the public was shocked. Soldiers no
longer participated in distinct battles; they could be attacked at any time of day. This constant state of
fear had obvious psychological effects. The public became disillusioned about war due to the large
body counts as well. Pacifism became more popular as a result. The growth of independence
movements was another important effect of the war. In territories controlled by Russia and England in
particular, independence movements became common. The colonies had been largely neglected over
the four years the countries were at war, and they finally saw their opportunity to rise up. During the
war, the colonies had quietly become less reliant on

Clinical Decision Support Systems ( Cdss )
Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) can be described as information systems to improve the
decision making ability of people interacting with it(Niès et al., 2010). Hospitals with integrated
Health Information Systems (HIS) are encouraged to utilize CDSS(Jonathan Teich, Saldana, Levick,
2012). Multiple fragments such as Electronic Health Record(EHR), laboratory information system,
Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), radiology information system and pharmacy
information system combine together to form an integrated HIS(Niès et al., 2010). Each piece of the
HIS is essential to generate proper CDSS suggestions in the form of on screen alerts, that have been
found to be most effective(Shojania et al., 2009). Diagnostic laboratory testing has been steadily
increasing over time in many medical settings all over the world. Hence, proper laboratory testing is
crucial for better patient health(van Walraven Naylor, 1998). Laboratory testing of patients can be
inappropriate, and mostly it is repetitive testing(Neilson, 2004). The integrated HIS itself can also be a
factor in encouraging repetitive examination, it can be based on different factors such as, when there is
a disconnect between the HIS workflow and the physician s workflow, test ordered in another
department may not be shown in another department, tests taken by the patient at a different location
of the same hospital group, patient recently taking the test in a different hospital group(Koppel Ross,

Meerkat Manor: Hunter Gatherers
After watching Meerkat Manor, I believe that the group of Meerkats, called Whiskers, most resemble
the hunter gatherers. To start off, the elders within the Meerkat group would continuously hunt and
gather the food for offspring and those who cannot take of themselves anymore. Just like traditional
hunter gathers, the men would leave to gather the larger preys while the women would stay and
babysit the kids while gathering nuts, berries, herbs, and small prey which they would use to feed the
children of the group to take care and support them through their lives.
Furthermore, the hunter gatherers travel in large groups called hordes, which is what the whiskers

that develops or explains a theme in a literary work (literarydevices).
Example:

Edmund; therefore, Goneril poisons her own sister. However, once Edmund the Bastard is mortally
wounded, Goneril kills herself and confesses that she poisoned Regan.
Concept and Analysis: The motif of violence is evident in King Lear such as when Cornwall puts out
Gloucester s eyes, and Goneril poisons her own sister and eventually kills herself. As Cornwall s
servants captures Gloucester, Cornwall injures and punishes Gloucester as he thinks that Gloucester is
a traitor. Gloucester seeks for help from the servants saying Give me some help! [As Servants hold the
chair, Cornwall forces out one of Gloucester s eyes.] O cruel! O you god! (3. 7. 83 85). This reveals a
motif of violence because it displays a violent act as the servant keeps hold of Gloucester while
Cornwall disgustingly and violently puts out Gloucester s one eye. In addition, Regan is not satisfied
with only one eye wounded; therefore, she states One side will mock another. Th other too (3. 7. 86),
revealing the motif or recurring image of violence because Regan s order intensifies the violence that

The management of cash is essential to the survival of any organization. Managing an organization s
financial operation requires knowledge of the economy and ways to maximize revenue. For any
organization to operate on a daily basis adequate cash flow is required. Without cash management the

inconsistencies in the market. Cash is also needed to keep the cycle of the company s operations
going.
Many organizations have maximized the use of cash on hand by effective cash management
techniques and the use of short term financing. This paper will discuss various cash management
techniques and short term financing methods used by organizations. ... Show more content on

In the business world companies are always trying to maximize their earning potential by strategically
investing in short term financing. In terms of finance short term may mean months or even a couple of
years. The type of finance method that is used is contingent on the specific needs of the corporation.
These methods include trade credit, bank credit, financing through commercial paper, foreign
borrowing, and the use of collateral, accounts receivable financing, inventory financing and hedging
to reduce borrowing risk. Trade credit is the practice of purchasing goods now and paying for them
later. Trade credit is widely used and is the least expensive and most convenient form of short term
financing (McHugh, McHugh Nickels, 1999, p. 573). When a company purchases goods on credit an
invoice is received outlining the terms of repayment. An invoice contains terms such as 2/10, net 30.
The total bill is due in 30 days, but the supplier has extended a discount if the amount is paid in full
within 10 days. Finance managers use the information on the invoice to perform an analysis to find
out if the discount is worth paying the invoice in advance or if there is opportunity for more earning
potential if invested elsewhere.
Banks issue credits to organizations seeking funds for there ventures. The bank usually prefers a self
liquidating loan in which the use of funds will ensure a built in or automatic repayment scheme (Block

  • 3. Psychological Torture and the Fairness of Poverty in “The... Psychological Torture and the Fairness of Poverty The Lesson , by Toni Cade Bambara, is a first person narration of a young girl named Sylvia who through the teachings of Miss Moore learns about the socioeconomic gap between the wealthy and poor. White Torture , by Farnoosh Moshiri, is a short story told in third person of a woman enduring the psychological pain of torture which results in the audience questioning the morality of the subject at hand. While both stories differ greatly in tone and theme, they both demonstrate the potential of short stories when utilized properly. Bambara s use of Sylvia as the protagonist of the narrative gives the story a somewhat playful tone while tackling a subject that is far from it. While in the taxi Sylvia thinks to herself, So we heading down the street and she s boring us silly about what things cost and what our parents make and how much goes for rent and how money ain t divided up right in this country (Bambara 1143). This quote shows that by using Sylvia s first person take with the story, Bambara gives us a humorous approach of a child that must slowly come to the terms with the reality of wealth in the country. Moshiri s story White Torture, goes with a third person approach when telling her story. The woman who is the focal point of the story is never named and we only get glimpse of her history based on short flashbacks. The only real concrete information the audience is given is that she is in a holding facility ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If we demand that mere mortals live up to this standard, we will see our seats of government lay empty and we will see the best, most able people unfairly cast out of public service. • 5. Paris Was Becoming The World s Hub For Art Innovators Beginning towards the end of the nineteenth century, Paris was becoming the world s hub for art innovators; a place that is widely regarded as the birthplace of modern art. Artists of all disciplines, from sculptors to musicians, made their way to this city to pursue their passions in a community of like minded and passionate individuals. These artists came from all over the world, in a time before the world was made flat with commercial aviation. Once they arrived, they often found themselves in suboptimal living conditions, sometimes even lacking running water. Despite these obstacles, Montmartre, a hillside neighborhood on the north bank of Paris, managed to draw an impressive artistic crowd, and would eventually foster the birth of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This type of artistic suppression was happening all over the world in varying degrees. It drove many artists out of their homelands to places that were more accepting of their artistic expression. Although Kandinsky didn t find himself in the company of the cubists of Montmartre, his story demonstrates the artistic atmosphere of the world at the time. Many artists were eager to find a haven where they could freely express themselves in the company of like minded individuals, and to many of them, that place was Montmartre. Although there were certainly critics of modern artists within Paris itself, their general response to the artistic pioneers was more akin to arrogant dismissal as opposed to the outright suppression of places such as Russia. Another factor to consider is the somewhat overlooked economic theory of knowledge spillover. As described by Jane Jacobs in the 1960 s, it explains the obscure rise of particular industries in certain cities. This concept seeks to prescribe a name to the process of like minded individuals who live together in a community sharing ideas with each other in casual conversations and various other exchanges. Some examples include the steel industry of Pittsburgh, the technology industry of San Francisco, and more pertinently, the art industry in Paris at the turn of the twentieth century. The theory claims that innovations arise most quickly in areas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Cosmetic Surgery Of Breast Augmentation Breast Augmentation Today, more and more women think about cosmetic surgery to make their bodies look perfect. The most popular kind of plastic surgery is breast augmentation. Some women want to enlarge their breasts; the others wish to correct their sagging bust, and they go to a surgeon and ask him or her to change their body. A short term effect of such operation is full satisfaction with the new appearance and improvement of sexual life. Women often feel excited and think that their life will change for the best. However, such feelings are often temporarily, and they may develop into something worse. Therefore, there is another side of breast augmentation, which is less pleasant than the previous one. Such long term effects as depression, pain, discomfort, various infections as well as suicide are experienced by many women who underwent a plastic surgery. Consequently, the theme of breast augmentation is important since it relates to thousands of women who hesitate whether to change their breasts or not, especially those women who have already made an operation. Although breast augmentation helps women become more self confident in their beauty, this type of cosmetic surgery has also many negative effects such as unwillingness to breastfeed, different health problems, and even suicide. The first attempts of breast augmentation appeared in 1895 when a lipoma was transferred to the breast (Ramachandran). After that, some injections were tried; and only in 1962, the modern ... • 8. How Did Henri Matisse Create A Motif Henri Matisse is a well known French painter that was born 1869 and later dies in 1954 at the age of 84 years old. Being well known and famous for several paintings, he was given a charge by a well known Russian Sergri Shchukin. He was charged to produce three canvases to decorate Sergei mansion staircases in Moscow. On incident, the painting now recognized as Dance I was just a sketch that Matisse had created. The initial sketch and final version of the painting is quite similar in concept. Matisse did use the idea of another famous painting Bonheur de Vivre. The idea he used was the motif. A motif is a distinct decorative pattern or design. Many of early 1900 art pieces expressed pleasure joy and happiness. The painting of Dance I has the same concept and has what some believe to be bean dolls joyously dancing with one another. Unlike the paintings that Michelangelo produced using large and realistic humans, the bean dolls do not have actual physiques. The make of their bodies is not as realistic. The women in the painting Two Fridas was not as detailed as Michelangelo figures but they had more of a composition than the bean dolls that Matisse produced. Matisse often made his drawings seem to be effortless, amazing other painters and followers. Because Matisse produced such simple but yet paintings that individuals were able to interpret and understand allowed him to stand out from other painters. • 9. Women s Roles During The American Armed Forces Combat roles are grueling and nerve breaking, with a lot of commitment and endurance required. Masculinity is the most suited trait for anyone to fit adequately and perform effectively. Mostly, men fit well in these roles due to their masculinity. However, women too, can perform as equally as effective as men. The effectiveness and suitability of inclusion of women in major combat roles in the American Armed forces has faced heated debates, between people who believe that the combat roles are most suited for men, and those that term these people as sexists and argue that women aren t as qualified and capable of fighting in war. In essence, women can be as effective as their male colleagues in these combat roles. Combat roles in the military and armed forces entail soldiers fighting at the battleground, under the most adverse conditions, with heavy artillery and other supplies. Combat roles involve endurance and physical strength, which most women might lack, whereas the opportunity to represent the county at war needs to be open to all who are willing to sign up as a show of fairness in creation of opportunity. Feminist proponents want more women included in combat positions and serving at the war front, whereas opponents of the move, in public discourses, view this as unnecessary since women are weaker. Personally, I think women should sign up and be allowed to fight just like their male counterparts. The United States Armed Forces comprises of the Army, the Marine Corps, ... • 10. The Universal Declaration Of Human Rights With the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), the concept of human rights has gradually become one of the most commonly accepted universal norms, referred to in United Nations resolutions, national constitutions and regional and international treaties. Even so, human rights violations occur on an almost daily basis in countries around the world. The term seems to be at the forefront of contemporary political discourses, with its meaning at most times remaining unclear. In theory, human rights serve the sole purpose of protecting the inherent dignity of all representatives of the human family (UDHR 1948) However, there is much disagreement when it comes to theoretically justifying that each human being has rights by virtue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This will then serve as a basis for my main argument that human rights are socially constructed and do not exist outside of the realm of politics. This will then feed into the second part of the question where I shall discuss the prioritisation of community values over an alleged universal foundation. Structure The first part of the essay will concern itself with a more genealogical approach by looking at early philosophical origins of human rights and how these evolved over the years. With this I seek to outline the fact that while efforts to institutionalise human rights were initially a reaction towards global injustice and oppression, in contemporary politics they are used to create power relations, and implicitly, inequality. This will provide a good basis for the second part in which I will look at the incompatibilities within the theory religion versus Rawls consensus based theory. Analysing the multitude of frameworks with their different ways of approaching and grounding rights underlines and reinforces the fact that there can t be a universal foundation for human rights. The third part will deal with the fact that trying to ground rights into one universal foundation creates an exclusion of those who are different and how we can seek to move away from this problem. Natural Law and Natural Rights The origin of the modern rights discourse is that of natural law dating back to antiquity. Plato was one of the first advocates for a universal ... • 11. Essay Comparing Half Caste And Search For My Tongue Culture Comparing Half Caste and Search for my Tongue Culture. It s a very complicated term, with many different interpretations, but what does it actually mean? In this essay I will compare two poems from completely different cultures to see if we get any comparisons, the poems I have chosen to write about are Half Caste by John Agard and Search for my Tongue by Sujata Bhatt, I have chosen these because I feel they raise some very significant points. But back to the question mentioned earlier, what is culture? Everyone has a different view on culture, but to me it is a huge influence on our everyday lives, many different issues contribute to the term Culture from the way we dress, to our beliefs, attributes, how we live, and even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, John Agard was originally from Guyana but moved to England in 1977, his mother was Portuguese but born in Guyana and his father is black. One of the things he likes about living in England is the wide range of people he meets: The diversity of cultures here is very exciting . He is very passionate about his culture and gets highly agitated by the view of racial origins, which is implied in the word Half Caste . This term is now considered rude and insulting. The other poem that I am studying is Search for my Tongue by Sujata Bhatt; once again I have done some preliminary research just to get a feel for the author herself. I was able to find out that; Sujata Bhatt was born in the Indian state of Gujarat, where her mother tongue was Gujarati. • 12. Essay Similarities between Greek and Egyptian Mythologies The ancient world was comprised of mysteries. There were no scientific explanations for the structure of the world, the existence of humans, or the meaning of life. To explain these dilemmas they turned to religion and mythology. However, as were often isolated geographically there was no universal answer to any of these questions, though many cultures many have derived similar solutions to certain questions, despite being separated by large physical distances, such as the Greeks and Egyptians. Although there are minor differences, Greek and Egyptian mythologies share many similarities. One parallel between Greek and Egyptian creation stories is that they both begin with a God or Gods being created from the universe. The creation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Greek and Egyptian mythologies, there is a supreme God. In Greek tradition this was Zeus, Zeus was now King of all the gods and lived on Mount Olympus. (Corsar, Reid Rooney, and Smith 9) In Egyptian mythology, this position was first held by Osiris, and the other deities herald him by saying He lives, the King of Upper and Lower Egypt, beloved of Ra, living forever! Heir of Geb, Osiris, beloved of the gods, Osiris, given life, endurance, joy, health, all happiness, like Ra! (Kaster 81) After being murdered by Set, he became ruler of the Netherworld, and was replaced as King of Upper and Lower Egypt, by his son, Horus. The idea of a supreme deity is common in both Greek and Egyptian traditions. Some Greek deities can also be identified with Egyptian ones, in particular the Greek Dionysus and the Egyptian Osiris. They both preside over fertility, in addition to their other duties. Another similarity is that they are both twice born. Dionysus was born first from Semele s womb and then later from Zeus s thigh. Osiris was the son of Geb and Nut and was resurrected by Isis after being murdered by Set. (Livingston, Greek and Egyptian Religious Parallels) Other Gods and Goddesses that are similar include Horus and Apollo, Isis and Demeter, Hathor and Aphrodite, Neith and Athena and Bast and Artemis. • 13. Truman s Ethical In The Movie The Truman Show Everyone deserves the right to live in the real world and have real relationships. It is unethical to have your whole life rehearsed. In the movie The Truman show directed by Peter Weir they create a fake town where they convince the star of the show that it is the real world. Their fake town is full of hidden cameras to capture every moment of his life. Truman is completely oblivious to the fact that it is just a movie. Throughout the movie they do everything they can to keep him from finding out the truth about the Truman show. The movie The Truman show shows that what Christof did was unethical. Through hiding the truth about his life from him, also when Christof deceived Truman by making him think that he was living in the real world for his own personal gain, and having everyone in his life be actors. Throughout the Truman show they lie and are always hiding the truth about what his purpose is.Truman is unaware that he is the start of a world wide TV show called The Truman show he believes that he is just living his normal life like everyone else. One example of Truman being lied to is when Truman was younger, him and his dad went out on a boat. While they were on the boat a big storm hit and his dad fell off the boat and drown. His dad did not actually die, he just acted like he did because that s what the director told him to do. What they did to him by faking his dads death was very cruel. No one should ever have to go through that. Even if everyone knew it was fake Truman did not. In The Truman show they are constantly convincing Truman that the town he lives in is the real world. They convince him by making the fake town look real, like by giving him a job, a wife, a house, and lots of friends. The way they make their world is unrealistic as it is to perfect to be real. They distract Truman every time he gets close to figuring it out. When Truman went to the Hospital to see his wife at work. While he was on his way to the operating room many of the actors try to stop him because it is not a real operating room. Truman makes it all the way there and then gets lead out of the Hospital. Why has history forgotten such a man when it has remembered Julius Caesar, Henry VIII or Napoleon, but not this man? Latin is a genre of music that unless I have come across it at other such events I have not heard it otherwise. Thus it is a genre that I had to do some research on in order to better appreciate what I was hearing. This concert was basically split into two parts each part had a main soloist on guitar that was accompanied by other musicians. The concert hall, since this was going to be mainly solo music to begin with, had all of the sound absorbing curtains up so that all would be able to hear the solo guitarist. • 24. Oxygen Diffusion Respiration, too, is essential to human life. In fact we breathe 15 25 times per minute. When you suck air in, you use your diaphragm and intercostal muscles to contract and expand your chest cavity, which shrinks when you exhale. You breathe in air, and it goes through your mouth or nose into or epiglottis. From there, it transfers into your trachea, and then into the vocal cords, which are in the larynx. Next, it travels until it reaches the bronchi, and is then relayed into both of your lungs. Air goes along a path of bronchioles which become smaller and smaller until it arrives at the alveoli. Inside these, oxygen concentration is high, and as a result of this, oxygen diffuses from the alveolar membrane into the pulmonary capillary. When this process begins, hemoglobin located in your erythrocytes is bounded with carbon dioxide, and a minuscule amount of oxygen. Oxygen is then bound to hemoglobin, and carbon dioxide is released. (John Wily Sons, 2015) It cannot be replaced by other legal accounting system. Strengthen the accounting professional ethics can effectively improve the level of professional accountants. If the accountant does not have the awareness of this ethics and lack of the professional skills, it will be difficult to ensure the authenticity and reliability of the information. For example, when a tax accountant is facing a situation where the client wants to fudge their income to avoid paying a high tax. The client may pay the accountant fees for helping them evade tax. In doing this, the accountant may be long term benefit, But if their actions are exposed, severe penalties would come. So the ethics code and guidance constrain the behaviors of accountant. • 32. The Rabbits-Deconstruction of Visual Essay John Marsden s and Shaun Tan s epic picture book, The Rabbits , is an allegorical fable about colonisation, told from the perspective of the natives. An unseen narrator describes the coming of rabbits in the most minimal detail, an encounter that is at first friendly and curious, but later darkens as it becomes apparent that the visitors are actually invaders. My chosen image (above), embodies the overall style of the book which is deliberately sparse and strange. Both text and image conveys an overall sense of bewilderment and anxiety as native numbat like creatures witness the environmental devastation under the wheels of a strange new culture, represented by the rabbits. The image projects a painting of a striking sunset and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This metaphorically suggests that the rabbits have already begun to construct their homes, and now nobody can stop them. Their forceful invasion into the native indigenous landscape is further emphasised by the dead lizard featured in the foreground, which has been brutally squashed with seemingly no remorse. Furthermore, the buildings in the background are entirely formed by jigsaw pieces. Thus Tan presents us with a visual allegory of the rabbit society as manipulative and un relentless nature. The small strip across the top of the visual, presents us with an alternate world that is natural and heaven like where numbat like creatures are suspended upon tree branches. The gaze of the numbat like creatures leads us to the quote, They didn t live in trees like we did . Through the inclusion of text Tan portrays that the numbat like creatures don t understand the rabbits. This quote does not show any strong emotions, but instead the blatant tone bestows a clueless feeling to us, the responders. This section is very small in contrast to the rest of the image showing the rabbits. This symbolically represents the unprecedented manner in which the rabbits came and quickly made their own houses . At observing the picture more closely, we can conclude that where the numbat like creatures are sitting, the sky is lighter compared to where the rabbits are placed; implying that the lighter colour is the time the numbat like creatures were familiar ... • 33. Formal Diagnostic Analysis Classification of mental disorders keeps improving and changing over time with the goal of providing more accurate diagnosis and proper intervention. As guides for clinician, the formal Diagnostic Statistical Manual has categorical description of a variety of illnesses that are classified based on symptoms (Kite, Gullifer Tyson, 2012). Recently, the new version of the DSM raises many controversies since it suggests merging Asperger syndrome into the category of autism disorder to reduce confusion and therefore eliminating their differentiation. Their common diagnosis would now include early delayed linguistic and cognitive development which is only the case for autism but not for Asperger. Beside the genetic argument, the outcome of high functioning autism adult is almost indistinguishable to individual with Asperger to the point that it is difficult to view them separately. High functioning autism in adulthood without delay in language development is similar to adult who previously diagnosed with autism and delayed language development. A study analyzing neuro anatomic structure of the brain finds out that autism and Asperger could be cause by abnormalities in mini columnar organization and suggests that they may share similar biological pattern regardless the intelligence. Individuals suffering from autism or Asperger have smaller mini columns in brain and more dispersed cells than normal functioning individuals. Given this clinical overlap between the two disorders, it is difficult to tell them apart. Studies support their genetic and neurobiological similarities (Frith, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton is set in a small New England town in the early twentieth century. It revolves around three main characters: Ethan Frome, a rural farmer; Zeena Frome, his chronically ill wife; and Mattie Silver, Zeena s cousin who lives with them in a serving capacity. These characters each have their own journey through this story, but those journeys entwine and affect everyone else with the actions each character takes. Ethan Frome as the title character perhaps has the most important journey in this novel, though, and several recurring themes affect each of his actions and decisions. Marriage, love and desire, and desire versus duty are the themes most guiding Ethan Frome as he works through his feelings for the two women in his life because they define every step of his journey from beginning to end. To begin, Ethan s unhappy marriage with Zeena is the starting point from which all of his decisions are made. The marriage itself happened under almost false pretenses when Zeena came to help care for his sick mother. After being in such an oppressive, silent environment for so long, Zeena s volubility was music in his ears, and her capable, competent attitude restored his shaken balance and magnified his sense of what he owed her (26). This initial exposure to Zeena led Ethan to a kind of bedazzlement, so when he saw her ready to leave after his mother s funeral, he was seized with an unreasoning dread of being left alone on the farm and asked her to stay ... The heir to the Austro Hungarian Empire, Archduke Franz Ferdinand was under fire for the decision to annex the Balkans. This decision infuriated Serbian nationals there who believed they should be allowed to join Serbia who was newly independent; the decision also strengthened Serbian nationalist groups. Franz Ferdinand was in Sarajevo to inspect his troops there on the day he was assassinated. The Black Hand Gang was responsible for the death of the Archduke and his wife. In fact, by 1918, nearly three million women were employed in the textile, food, and war industries. Many restrictions on women s participation in these industries were torn down during World War 1. Women slowly started gaining more social responsibilities. They started working as streetcar conductors and radio operators; they also worked in logging camps and steel mills. During the war, they not only had to support their households, but also the war effort. After the war, their labor was far from over. It was now more socially acceptable to continue working. In addition, many men died in the war and women had to work single handedly to support their family. The public view of war changed after World War 1. Before the war, the public had seen war as it was in the 1800s with large armies attacking each other in open fields in battles that rarely lasted for more than a day. However, new technology and tactics made warfare much more gruesome. One tactic became known as trench warfare. When the British released a realistic film about the Battle of the Somme, a battle fought by Britain and France against Germany, the public was shocked. Soldiers no longer participated in distinct battles; they could be attacked at any time of day. This constant state of fear had obvious psychological effects. The public became disillusioned about war due to the large body counts as well. Pacifism became more popular as a result. The growth of independence movements was another important effect of the war. In territories controlled by Russia and England in particular, independence movements became common. The colonies had been largely neglected over the four years the countries were at war, and they finally saw their opportunity to rise up. During the war, the colonies had quietly become less reliant on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Clinical Decision Support Systems ( Cdss ) Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) can be described as information systems to improve the decision making ability of people interacting with it(Niès et al., 2010). Hospitals with integrated Health Information Systems (HIS) are encouraged to utilize CDSS(Jonathan Teich, Saldana, Levick, 2012). Multiple fragments such as Electronic Health Record(EHR), laboratory information system, Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE), radiology information system and pharmacy information system combine together to form an integrated HIS(Niès et al., 2010). Each piece of the HIS is essential to generate proper CDSS suggestions in the form of on screen alerts, that have been found to be most effective(Shojania et al., 2009). Diagnostic laboratory testing has been steadily increasing over time in many medical settings all over the world. Hence, proper laboratory testing is crucial for better patient health(van Walraven Naylor, 1998). Laboratory testing of patients can be inappropriate, and mostly it is repetitive testing(Neilson, 2004). The integrated HIS itself can also be a factor in encouraging repetitive examination, it can be based on different factors such as, when there is a disconnect between the HIS workflow and the physician s workflow, test ordered in another department may not be shown in another department, tests taken by the patient at a different location of the same hospital group, patient recently taking the test in a different hospital group(Koppel Ross, ... To start off, the elders within the Meerkat group would continuously hunt and gather the food for offspring and those who cannot take of themselves anymore. Just like traditional hunter gathers, the men would leave to gather the larger preys while the women would stay and babysit the kids while gathering nuts, berries, herbs, and small prey which they would use to feed the children of the group to take care and support them through their lives. Furthermore, the hunter gatherers travel in large groups called hordes, which is what the whiskers have been shown to do within Meerkat Manor. These large groups of Meerkat claimed land using scent, and followed the rules that were set up the leader, who was usually a female within the hunter gatherer society. In this case, Flower was the head of the horde as she made the rules and commands that the group must follow. • 38. Symbolism In King Lear Camile Kaye Agbigay January 9, 2016 Lit Device #11 King Lear/William Shakespeare Motif: A motif can distinguish as an image, action, sound, or other figures that possess a significant symbol and contributes to the development of a theme. A motif is a recurrent idea, symbol, or image that develops or explains a theme in a literary work (literarydevices). Example: GLOUCESTER He that will think to live till he be old, Give me some help! Regan orders to puts out Gloucester s another eye because one eye can still work. Goneril, one of King Lear s daughters, discovers that her sister, Regan, has a sexual desire for Edmund; therefore, Goneril poisons her own sister. However, once Edmund the Bastard is mortally wounded, Goneril kills herself and confesses that she poisoned Regan. Concept and Analysis: The motif of violence is evident in King Lear such as when Cornwall puts out Gloucester s eyes, and Goneril poisons her own sister and eventually kills herself. As Cornwall s servants captures Gloucester, Cornwall injures and punishes Gloucester as he thinks that Gloucester is a traitor. Gloucester seeks for help from the servants saying Give me some help! [As Servants hold the chair, Cornwall forces out one of Gloucester s eyes.] O cruel! O you god! (3. 7. 83 85). This reveals a motif of violence because it displays a violent act as the servant keeps hold of Gloucester while Cornwall disgustingly and violently puts out Gloucester s one eye. In addition, Regan is not satisfied with only one eye wounded; therefore, she states One side will mock another. Th other too (3. 7. 86), revealing the motif or recurring image of violence because Regan s order intensifies the violence that they are doing to Gloucester. In the business world companies are always trying to maximize their earning potential by strategically investing in short term financing. In terms of finance short term may mean months or even a couple of years. The type of finance method that is used is contingent on the specific needs of the corporation. These methods include trade credit, bank credit, financing through commercial paper, foreign borrowing, and the use of collateral, accounts receivable financing, inventory financing and hedging to reduce borrowing risk. Trade credit is the practice of purchasing goods now and paying for them later. Trade credit is widely used and is the least expensive and most convenient form of short term financing (McHugh, McHugh Nickels, 1999, p. 573). When a company purchases goods on credit an invoice is received outlining the terms of repayment. An invoice contains terms such as 2/10, net 30. The total bill is due in 30 days, but the supplier has extended a discount if the amount is paid in full within 10 days. Finance managers use the information on the invoice to perform an analysis to find out if the discount is worth paying the invoice in advance or if there is opportunity for more earning potential if invested elsewhere.
