INTRODUCTION
An essay is a “short formal piece of
writing..dealing with a single subject”. It is
typically written to try to persuade the reader
using selected research evidence. In general,
an academic essay has three parts-
An Introduction,
A Body, or Middle section,
A Conclusion.
CONTI…
SAQs are open-ended questions that require
students to create an answer. They are
commonly used in examinations to assess
the basic knowledge and understanding of
a topic before more in- depth assessment
questions are asked on the topic.
DEFINITION OF ESSAY-
 ESSAY is derived from the French word
essayer, which means “to attempts”, or “to
try”.
 An essay is a short form of literary
composition based on a single subject matter,
and often gives the personal opinion of the
author.
 The Oxford Dictionary describes it as “a short
piece of writing on a particular subject”.

 Another limitation of essay questions

 Only few questions can be included in
a given test so that some areas are
measured thoroughly, but many others
are neglected.
BLUFFING-A SPECIAL
SCORING PROBLEM
It is possible for students to obtain higher
scores on essay questions than they
deserve by means of clever bluffing. This is

CONCLUSION
An essay is a piece of writing, usually from an
author’s personal point of view. Essay are non-
frictional but often subjective; while expository,
they can also include narrative. Essay can be
literary criticism, political manifestos, learned
arguments, observations of daily life,
recollections, and reflections of the author.
Whereas, in a short answer question, the student
types in a word or phrase in response to a question
that may include image. Answer may or may not be
case sensitive. The answer could be a word or a
phrase, but it must match one of your acceptable
answers exactly. It’s a good idea to keep the required
answer as short as possible to avoid missing a correct
answer that’s phrased differently.
