This document discusses factors that contribute to non-violence and violence in educational settings. It outlines four main ways to decrease school violence: increasing parent and community involvement, implementing character education programs, teaching violence prevention and conflict resolution curricula, and establishing bullying prevention programs. It then discusses specific strategies within each of these areas and additional approaches to reducing violence in schools. Contributing factors to classroom bullying and school violence mentioned include home environment, depression, accessibility to weapons, stress/anxiety, media effects, group pressure, lack of counseling, and lack of guidance for dealing with difficulties.
