- Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are a system of alternate schools in India for talented children from rural areas. - There are 661 JNVs across 28 states and 7 union territories that provide free education, boarding, uniforms and textbooks. - Admission is through an entrance exam and 75% seats are reserved for rural students, with quotas for SC/ST students and girls. - Students follow a daily routine that includes periods, games, supervised study and self-study.
