Stakeholders Who Are Stakeholders
Who are stakeholders? What and who does this term stakeholder refer to? Are they simply the internal
members of the company? Are they supporters of the company? Yes we understand each question on
your mind regarding stake holder management and we are going to help you get an answer to these
questions. Many people believe that stake holders are only the investors or the profit makers of the
company; however this is not the care in terms of stake holders. Let us get to know and understand the
meaning of stakeholder, stakeholder management and then finally see how you can effectively manage
stakeholders. To get an answer to your questions refer to the notes below as they will guide you
through.
Who is a Stakeholder or What is stakeholder?
Anyone or everyone who is affected by the actions of a business or an organization is a stake holder

Hence it is extremely important to manage stakeholders efficiently at every stage of the company s life
cycle. Management of stakeholders needs to be done very effectively as each stakeholder s powers
differ with their importance and their interest in the business. A few stakeholders have the power of
either blocking your business or letting it roll successfully. You business also depends on their interest
as some may be interested in what the business is doing and how is it performing however some
stakeholders will not even care about your business. For example you are into a project in which your
boss will be extremely interested and so will be your family; however an outsider not directly related
to you will not be as interested. Similarly in a business the owner and the employees will be very
interested however the community and the media will not really be

Land Cover Segregation of Coastal Area using K Means Algorithm Manjari Saha Computer Science
and Engg. Dept., Govt. College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Serampore, Hooghly, West
Bengal, PIN 712201. India. E Mail: cmanjari@gmail.com Abstract Coastal areas provide livelihood
facilities to many and also offer vast recreational and economic activities, and yet, at the same time,
such eco regions require to be managed with special emphasis and consideration of its natural and
cultural resources. Land cover classification of such diverse sea land regions requires a high level of
effort and plays a vital role for the analysis of time based or event based change on certain areas. For
effective utilization of remote sensed images obtained from Earth orbiting satellites, a lot of image
classification methods are available in literature. In this paper, we use the method of unsupervised
classification for the users convenience and flexibility, low computational requirements and moderate
classification accuracy. The objectives of the paper is to classify the land cover by mapping the region
into W S V (Water, Soil, Vegetation) components using the unsupervised K means algorithm, to obtain
land use/cover gray scale image combining the W S V components and thereby finally deriving the
related performance metrics such as histogram and land cover correlation. Keywords Clustering,

Truth vs. Perception
The concept of truth versus perception can be observed in nearly all aspects of life. What is the truth
these days; in newspaper articles, current affair shows or stories that a friend is telling you, is it truth
or is it a version of the truth? The complexities inherent in this concept of truth versus perception will
be discussed in relation to two texts; Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose, and, After the First Death
by Robert Cormier.
What is the key difference between truth and perception , and which is more important? The truth is
the reality of the fact while perception is the truth relative to oneself. The mind, the nature of the
metaphysical of a human being is different to everyone else s. Everyone has lived ... Show more

This is very convincing evidence, that it was the only blade of its particular craftsmanship, it was
identified as property of the boy by his friends and it was also the same blade used to kill his father.
This is the facts presented by the prosecution, the truth . This truth is wavered when the 8th juror
brings out a blade exactly the same as the one as the one the boy had. It is interesting as the
shopkeeper stated that it was rare and unusual yet, the 8th juror brought the same one from a pawn
shop near the boy s house. This contradiction therefore questions the credibility of the shopkeeper s
accounts and brings a shadow of a doubt to this case. The boy s friends did indeed identify it as the
death weapon but with the possibility of this switchblade being an abundant produce, it also presents
the possibility that another person stabbed and killed his father with the same kind of knife.
The next piece of evidence that is debated is the testimony of one of the key witnesses of the
prosecution. The old man living downstairs heard the boy yell, I ll kill you! followed by a thump on
the floor. He then witnessed a young man, supposedly the defendant, running away. The old man said
that after the thump, he ran straight to the door in fifteen seconds and saw the boy running as he
opened the door. During the proceedings of the trial, the old man was dragging his foot slowly across
the floor having recently suffered a stroke. The jurors observed

Determining The Standard Error, Or Standard Deviation Of...
Assignment
Ans 1.1
a) The standard error, or standard deviation of the sample mean, = population standard
deviation/square root of sample size = $10.75/14
b) z = (60 68.30)/10.75 = 0.77
from the z tables we see that the probability that z is less than 0.77 is .2206, so the probability that x is
GREATER than 60 is 1 .2206 = .7794.
c) Now we are dealing with variation of the sample mean, so the standard error is 10.75/sqrt(100) =
1.075
Z = (66 68.30)/1.075 = 2.14, and the associated probability is .0162.
5. 150 138=12 = 1 standard deviation. By the empirical rule, we know that 68% of the data fall within
1 standard deviation of the mean, above and below. Since the normal distribution is symmetrical, 34%
fall within 1 standard deviation below the mean (i.e. between 138 and 150). So a score of 138 is the
equivalent of a z score of 1. Similarly, a score of 162 is the equivalent of a z score of 1.
By the Empirical Rule, approximately 95% of the data fall within 2 standard deviations above and
below the mean, so that would be from 126 to 174.
Same principle as above, but this time it s plus or minus 3 standard deviations, from 114 to 186.
Ans 1.2:
a) The standard error of the mean, also called the standard deviation of the mean, is a method used to
estimate the standard deviation of a sampling distribution. To understand this, first we need to
understand why a sampling distribution is required.
In statistics, point estimation involves the use of sample data to

Countess Of Lovelace Research Paper
August Ada Byron, Countess of Lovelace was born in London, England on December 10, 1815. Her
parents Romantic poet Lord Bryon and Anne Isabelle Milkbanke, had a short marriage and separated a
month after Ada was born. She never met her father, because he left England forever four months after
they separated. He then died in Greece in 1823. Ada s life was struggle between emotion and reason,
poetics and mathematics, and her health. Lady Bryon had Ada receive tutoring in mathematics and
music so that she would not follow her father s footsteps of being a poet. With the love of
mathematics, in 1828 Ada produced a design for a flying machine. Ada and her mom moved to an

married William King in 1835. The King then inherited a noble title in 1838 so they became the Earl
and Countess of Lovelace. They had three children, and both loved horses. Ada and her husband
socialized with many of the interesting minds of the times, including scientist Michael Faraday and
writer Charles Dickens. Charles wanted to make plans for a new calculating machine in 1834 called
Analytical Engine, but his sponsors refused to support the second machine until the first on was done.
In 1842 an Italian mathematician published a memoir in French on the Analytical Engine. Charles
asked Ada to translate it and in a nine month period in 1842 43 she worked on the article. Ada called

Merengue Tipico Essay
This paper will be comparing and contrasting Merengue Tipico music, which is a type of merengue,
and bachata music of the Dominican Republic. Merengue and Bachata are the two most popular music
genres in the Dominican Republic. These two kinds of music represent the Dominican Republic and
its people. Many Dominicans have taken their music and traditions to different parts of the world.
Mainly, the Bachata and Merengue have expanded to different cities of the United States and Latin
America. Although both genres have a lot of characteristics in common, they also have many
differences. Two of the main differences these two genres have are the instrumentation and their artists
and composers.

Each one of these instruments complements Merengue Tipico in a way that no other instrument
would. The tambora is a two headed drum that is more used as a background instrument in Merengue
Tipico. It originated in Africa and was brought to the Caribbean by the West African slaves that came
to work plantation (Larson, 2017). Moreover, the guira is a percussion instrument that is played by
rasping a metal stick against the rough surface of the instrument (Solano, 2017). Also, there is the
saxophone, which is one of the last instruments that was added to the Merengue Tipico, and
contributes to give a better rhythm to it. The other instrument that is essential in Merengue Tipico is
the accordion. This is a musical instrument that has form of a box. It is held and played by pulling the
sides apart and then pushing them together while pressing buttons and keys. However, the instruments
in Bachata are completely different, except that the guira is also played in Bachata. The instruments
used to play bachata are the lead guitar, the segunda guitar, the bass guitar, the bongos, and the güira
(Marracco, 2014). The lead guitar, the segunda guitar and the bass guitar are essential to play Bachata.
These instruments are the ones that make the most improvisation. Followed by the bongos, which are
a pair of single headed drums that are played with hands and fingers (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2017).
Overall, Merengue Tipico and

Of Justice In William Shakespearer, Hamlet, And Thomas...
William Shakespeare s King Lear, Hamlet, and Thomas Hardy s Mayor of Casterbridge each examine
both the search for and the effects of justice. King Lear is a case study of a failed monarch and his
remorse for not having been a better king. Hamlet tasks a teenage boy with avenging his father s
death, prompting questions about morality and righteousness. The Mayor of Casterbridge is a man s
attempts to reconcile his shortcomings with what he feels is right. Tragically, in each of these works
the search for justice, or the character s flawed understanding of it, is ultimately unsuccessful,
resulting in injustice towards others. King Lear is defined by the figurehead monarch s quest for what
he sees as justice for himself. After Goneril and Regan betray him by refusing to house his nights,
King Lear calls upon the heavens avenge him and punish his daughters with a storm. O heavens, he
implores, If you do love old men, if your sweet sway Show obedience, if you yourselves are old,
Make it your cause. Send down, and take my part (2.4.217 220). These lines, uttered in the raw
emotion of a man who feels wronged by those he loves, are representative of Lear s temper and
distress when things don t go his way. His daughters perceived insult to him spurs a helpless call for
justice from the gods, a justice Lear no longer can carry out because he has divested himself of power.
Lear s inability to forcefully delve justice This hearkens back to his overhasty reaction towards

What Is The Real Impact Of Geographical Factors On...
Research Design In examining the empirical data of post Communist reform, I hope to exhibit the real
impact of geographical factors on political and economic reform in an effort to abandon conventional
explanations of this discussion. My intent with this research is to introduce the notion that spatial
issues can be as much of a determinant of state behavior, as any other factor. This is not to prove that
certain explanations are better than others, but rather to underscore the validity in geographical
explanations; even if variables are not exclusively affiliated to the central subject of my study, they
can still hold powerful implications. My research design would organize a geographical positioning
variable (independent) against a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Second, Polity IV offers a much more detailed signal of change than most other indicators of
democracy. The data set ranges from 10 to +10, in which a Polity Score is determined through a
country s placement in one of three categories: autocracies ( 10 to 6), anocracies ( 5 to 5), and
democracies (6 to 10). In this, a 20 point measurement of political class is produced of each country,
every year. To measure economic reform, I chose the Index of Economic Freedom; an annual index
and ranking system created in 1995 through the Heritage Foundation and The Wall Street Journal. This
particular tool evaluates countries on ten economic factors:
1. trade policy 6. property rights
2. taxation 7. banking
3. government intervention in the economy 8. wage and price controls
4. monetary policy 9. regulation
5. capital flows and foreign investment 10. black market
As a means of investigating principled governance I focused solely on the Economic Freedom
measures of trade policy, government intervention, and capital flows and foreign investment. I chose
only these indicators because I believe they provide thorough insight into the conjoining issues of post
Communist legacies and overall geographical access namely, how close they are to a body of water
large enough for ports. The scores for this computation are ranked as follows: Repressed (0 to 49.9),

Helen Keller Speech
As humans, it is only natural to take countless things for granted as we live our daily lives. There is
beauty that surrounds us like the majestic Rocky Mountains, the crisp blue skies, birds sweetly singing
in the early morning, or even the simple sound of someone s loving voice. People are born with the
ability to see and hear the everyday activities going on around them but for some less fortunate, these
abilities are not a characteristic they possess. Living as a deaf or blind person in today s society
certainly would have its challenges but can you imagine the obstacles and battles for someone who
was deaf, dumb and blind living life over one hundred years ago? One incredible woman was faced
with such a challenge and she accomplished more in her lifetime than most women did with out any
handicap and her name is Helen Keller. Helen Keller is a celebrated woman in American history who
accomplished countless achievements and paved the way for the deaf and blind community by
inspiring millions and showing how to prove yourself when the odds are stacked against you.
Before the age of two, Helen was diagnosed with a disease that took away her ability to see and hear.
Her disease was rare and hard to understand and her doctor referred to it as brain fever but may have
been scarlet fever or meningitis. As a young girl, she had minimal ways to communicate. Often, she
would express herself through throwing tantrums or by laughing uncontrollably. Helen states in her

Gender Roles And Expectations
Gender roles and expectations leave a massive, indirect impact on people of western culture. It can
limit both genders as to what they are socially allowed and not allowed to do. While most believe that
the roles appear natural, it is only because it is how they are raised to believe, not because of biology.
It is completely okay to believe and stick to gender roles on one s own terms, but the issue lies when
the individual is oppressed or harassed for straying from the subjective social construct of standards. It
affects a lot of western culture, making different people be able to obtain different professions, wear
certain clothing choices, have dominant or passive roles in relationships, and be accepted as either

Violation of gender role expectations are met with criticism and penalized (Prentice D.A., 26). While
penalizing can be imposed by others, it is mostly self imposed internally. Children as young as two or
three years of age are able to discern genders roles. In cross sex behaviors, females crossing over are
viewed more favorably compared to males crossing over. Socially, women can be accepted wearing
masculine clothing, while men are rarely able to been seen as feminine, such as wearing a dress,
without violence or being harassed. A prediction as to why females crossing to male are view better
upon than vise versa Feinman s differential hypothesis is based on the idea that a woman s movement
into the highly valued male role is more acceptable than a male s movement into the less valued
female role. Punishment for straying from gender roles are more prevalent for those who do not
identify with any gender. There is a problem in our culture if a set of entirely subjective guidelines
implement violence with those who do not follow them. Even women who follow the traditional set
gender roles suffer, as the construct is set to oppress women to be subordinate to men. Women still
manage to stick to their own set of beliefs and are independent and assertive still face feats, as many if

Hiroshima Point Of View
This novel was written in a unique format in which the author, John Hersey, used third person point of
view to introduce six ordinary people who have experienced a horrendous phenomenon. The first
chapter depicts what occurred before the bomb struck. At the time, Hiroshima was conducting several
night air raid warnings which prevented any civilians from getting their sleep. There were daily
weather runs conducted by the Americans which the Japanese disregarded for they only worried over
the B 29s. Father Kiyoshi Tanimoto, minister of the Hiroshima Methodist Church, rose at five o clock
to prepare for a day s journey to Koi, a city away from Hiroshima. Father Tanimoto and a friend had to

Throughout each individual s journey, the destruction and misery that the bomb created can be
observed. Asuna Park is where almost all the the novel s individuals meet. Father Kiyoshi Tanimoto
rose from his hideout and immediately witnessed the destruction of Hiroshima. Fortunately, he met his
uninjured wife after the bomb, but their encounter was brief for their circumstances had them
departing already. Father Tanimoto later took refuge in Park Asano, and unintentionally became the
leader of all the wounded. Toshiko Sasaki remained unconscious for at least three hours, unable to
move. She scream for help until finally three men came to her rescue. He left leg was severely
wounded, and she was later stationed at a shelter with three other damaged people. Dr. Masakazu Fujii
was able to dislodge himself from the timber and, along with other doctors, nurses, and civilians,
sought shelter from underneath the bridge. On the way to the bridge, Dr. Fujii briefly noticed the huge
fire that seemed to consume the surrounding areas. Feeling that the danger has passed, Dr. Fujii
journeyed to his home and later realized his family s home has collapsed. At the same moment,
Hatsuyo Nakamura had discovered her three children were alive and well. One of her neighbor
persuaded Nakamura to take refuge at Asuna Park. The park was still intact which could be used as a
cover against any future possible attacks. While preparing for the migration, she saw Father Wilhelm
Kleinsorge wondering around bewildered. Father Kleinsorge first assisted out of dangerous
environments, dislodged several people, then decided to take shelter in Asuna Park. Before their
departure, Father Kleinsorge and other priests were forced to ignore some of the cries. Even if the
priests attempted to aid those in need, the circumstances prevented it which resulted in thousands of
unnecessary casualties. Dr. Terufumi Sasaki was overwhelmed with

Science In The 1600s
Thought history scientists finding have been ignored, only to be discovered that their information was
beneficial. In the 1600s and 1700s, many astronomers and mechanics were focused on finding a way
to find the longitude of a ship s position at sea. John Harrison, a self taught carpenter and clockmaker
was able to create a solution, but no one with enough power to enforce his studies would listen to his
ideas. Similar to this, when Nicolaus Copernicus discovered that the earth revolved around the sun, no
one believed him because the belief at the time was that the earth was the center of the universe.
Despite no one appreciating what the two had discovered, several years after they had died, their
theories surfaced again and people began ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Copernicus worked in astronomy. Geography is the study of land and the relationships between the
land and the communities living in the area. If one studies geography, they also study the physical
properties of the land and how the people and animals use the land. Astronomy is the study of
astronomic objects, space and the physical universe. Besides this difference, Harrison had an
immediate successor to continue pressing the ideas of using clocks to solve the longitude issue.
Copernicus, on the other hand, had no one to help him continue his work once he had died; no one
wanted to be associated with his work because the Church had renounced it. Both men faced struggles
during their scientific career, but Harrison s work was able to continue to grow while Copernicus s

Significance of Some Historical Incidences
Significance of some historical happenings There are various significant historical incidences that took
place several years in the past which left valuable lessons with the USA citizens and successive
governments. Some of the events took place over 60 years ago but left a lasting mark among the
people that prompted efforts to ensure these events do not happen again. This paper discusses several
unfortunate incidences as well as measures that have been taken to mitigate the issues from happening
again. Halifax Explosion 1917 The Halifax explosion took place on December 6, 1917. A French
cargo ship SS Mont Blanc that was fully loaded with wartime explosives collided with Norwegian
vessel in narrows which is a strait that connects the upper Halifax Harbor and the Bedford Basin. A
few minutes later the volatile cargo went into flames; this was followed by cataclysmic explosions
which was devastating to the Richmond district of Halifax. Close to 2,000 people died from the debris,
buildings that had collapsed and fires and an estimated 9,000 people were injured who might have
been safe were it not the fact that they came out to watch the fire. This was the largest man made
exposition in history. As if this was not enough, some survivors were washed away by water, the blast
had provoked a tsunami and the people who had been blown by the explosion were being rushed over
the shoreline by water. The events of the explosion were quite devastating for people in the area (A E

Why Women Still Can t Have It All By Anne Marie Slaughter
Even today, in 2017, the issue of equality in the workplace is a very real and talked about problem.
Sheryl Sandberg talks about this issue in Lean In: What Would You Do If You Weren t Afraid. She
proposes the idea that the reason women do not receive results equal to their male counterparts is not
because of lack of opportunity, but because they are choosing to pursue different priorities than men.
In Why Women Still Can t Have It All, Anne Marie Slaughter discusses the idea that in today s
economic and social environment, it is not realistic for women to try to have it all. Similarly, Richard
Dorment writes about why it is not just women that can t have it all in his book, Why Men Still Can t
Have It All. There are always at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Critics of Sandberg say she blames women for the problem, but it is apparent that her enthusiasm for
women is misunderstood for criticism. Sandberg quotes and endorses Judith Rodin s statement that
My generation fought so hard to give all of you choices. We believe in choices (645). Slaughter and
Dorment s articles focus more on the cause and effect of this phenomenon, but their messages at the
root are the same. In recent history, the majority of the movement regarding the gender gap in the
workplace has been in response to the opportunity available to males versus female. Today however,
that debate topic has shifted to explain why opportunity does not grantee professional success and
what role society plays on that restriction. It was already said by Sandberg that a difference in biology
affects the choices individuals make, and that issue alone is independent from any social construct that
would usually affect choices. Slaughter outlines one of these societal flaws is in the unspoken rules or
norms of hiring and firing in Washington. She states, to admit to, much less act on, maternal longings
would have been fatal to their careers. Often a euphemism for being fired is saying that one is leaving
to focus on homemaking. It seems to be implied by the authors that often, merely having a family that
deserves time and

Tell Tale Heart Literary Analysis
Imagine an elderly man with the eye of a vulture that has the power to vex a man forcing him to
become a murderer. In Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe this unlikely scenario comes to life. A
young man contracts a disease after the elder roommate s eye possesses him. This disease heightens
his senses so he can hear the voices from heaven, hell, and everything in between. Poe creates a
dreadful and abhorrent story through characterization, literary techniques, and an insidious plot.
Poe uses characterization to develop realistic characters readers can relate to. From the start the
narrator does not hide his methodical side well. He stalks the old man for seven consecutive nights,
taking an hour each time to open the door wide enough ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrator was insidious before and after the murder. He has a preconceived plan but object there
was none. Passion there was none (Poe 303). The narrator said the old man s eye vexed him but he
could not be vexed if the old man slept with his eyes closed and as a result he could not commit the
murder for seven nights. For these nights he was calm and light hearted. He is laughing during his
stalking mission. The giggling portrayed the narrator as carefree even though he was aware of the
deed he was about to commit. With this knowledge he was patient, as if he had all the time in the
world. The narrator devoted countless hours to stalking the elderly man because he was intrigued in
the murder. On the night of the murder everything changes; he feels surges of adrenaline he mistakes
as power. The narrator is empowered and building confidence. He carries the confidence even when
the policemen arrive. He seems cool, calm, and collected, For what had [the narrator] to fear? (Poe
306). He knows the policemen cannot find evidence because he performed the perfect murder. The
policemen are convinced by his calm manner. Soon after the narrator seems pale and feels a headache.
His powers hear a pounding making the narrator grow angry as the policemen continue talking
merrily. He feels as though they are taunting him and show no respect to the pain he is enduring. The
narrator cannot take any more pain so he confesses the dreadful

The Main Theme Of Steve Bruce s God Is Dead
The main theme of Steve Bruce s God is Dead is about secularisation. In this book he argues that
secularisation is not a single notion and goes on to explore the many factors he believes has
contributed to secularisation. Bruce takes a sociological point of view as he draws on tradition starting
from Durkheim and Weber to more recent sociologist such as Martin and Niebuhr. Bruce states that
the aim of the first chapter is to clear the way for sensible debate about secularisation (2002: p.1) and
to lay out what modern sociologists actually mean by secularisation. Within this book Bruce uses a
range of literature from other sociologists regarding the secularisation debate in order to present and
argue that secularisation is occurring. Bruce does acknowledge that there are many interpretations of
what secularisation is and does say that there is no one secularisation theory (2002: p.2). But rather,
there are groups of similar explanations that adhere to each other quite well. According to Bruce trying
to define secularisation before offering explanations of it is harder as scholars tend to combine their
definitions. However he does use other sociologists definitions of secularisation, he uses Berger and
Luckmann s definition that shows the decline of religious social power, as they define it as, the
progressive autonomization of societal sectors from the domination of religious meaning and
institutions . The second definition of secularisation that Bruce gives is Wilson s

The Yellow Birds By Kevin Powers
Athletes train for countless hours in hopes to help their teams win games, but sometimes they can t
always come out on top. Students put in long hours studying for tests attempting to earn a good grade.
There are times where that effort is rewarded with a poor grade. Gifts are bought with the idea that
whoever is receiving the present is going to love it, but the buyer realizes that they messed up because
the gift is absolutely hated. These are examples of instances where people were trying to do good
things but ultimately failed. In the novel, The Yellow Birds by Kevin Powers you see characters that
have the intent to do good, but come up short and fail. Everybody has instances throughout their lives
where they will try extremely hard, but fail in the end. A lot of these instances may even be just the
smallest things, but when they happen it is never a good feeling. You will get feelings of
disappointment, and anger, but the problems that occur in Kevin Power s book are much more than
that. The book The Yellow Birds is a fictional story, but the thing that makes it so good is that the
author was in the war himself. Even though this great story is made up, Kevin Powers definitely had
an advantage on explaining how powerful the war really was on people. What was written in the book
could be very similar to things he had experienced himself while he served our country. Just by

Analysis Of Yevgeny Zamyatin s The Road For Future...
Yevgeny Zamyatin s We is known as the first dystopian novel and has paved the road for future
dystopian novels, like George Orwell s 1984. Both We and 1984 are scarily relevant to the 21st
century and act as warnings against the natural outcomes of totalitarianism. We s protagonist is
numbered D 503, a mathematician and the engineer behind the Integral. He lives under the careful
watch of the Guardians and stays loyal to the authoritarian rule of the Benefactor. He lives in a city
state called the One State (or United State), which was created as a result of the 200 Years War in
which the city won over the country and has protected itself from the primitive world by building a
wall around itself. This plot greatly influenced Orwell to write his own version of this dystopia in
1984. The novel 1984 by George Orwell leaves its readers thinking whether the world is capable of
successfully functioning under a government of extreme totalitarianism. However, ruled by the
intangible body called Big Brother, which consists of the ministries of love, war, and truth, the

Developing a learning tool to encourage education in a stem subject
Introduction
The aim for this project as has been mentioned is to develop a learning tool to encourage education in
a stem subject, I narrowed this down to developing a game that would help a student learn maths
specifically. Since then I have narrowed this further and have specified that this would be for around
the academic year 7 so around the age of 11 but would still be appropriate for 10 or 12 year olds. To
achieve this aim the objectives will be for one to train in game development as well doing research to
help establish the game mechanics or gamification elements wanted in the game.

As with a lot of articles on the subject of gamification this paper states that the intent of this report is
to define gamification, deconstruct the process of gamifying a learning a learning program, explore
the limitations, and review successful implementations of gamification . In section 2 What is
Gamification the paper gives the example of gamification in action, it talks about an initiative put
forward by Volkswagen where a staircase was put in the Odenplan sub way in Stockholm which

Art Class Analysis
When I first arrived at Boston College, I learned and heard through my peers that taking an art class
was something everyone did Junior or Senior year in order to fulfill the core. I had inferred that an art
class was something easier than other classes that provided more traditional classroom academics.
However, I found this to be strange as I never believed that an art class was easy; in fact I believe that
an art class can be much more difficult than a class like English, Math, or History. With classes such
as those, there are guidelines, structures, and rules you must follow in a strict way in order to do well.
In Art however, these guidelines, rules, and structures are much more transparent and open to
interpretation. In highschool, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comuting Using Motorcycle Or Car
Commuting using Motorcycles or Car, one of the most discussed topics between car goers and
motorcycle goers and also the ones in between. Discussions between each side always end up with
different ideas about the following: Time, Costs, Safety, Fun factor.
In the city, roads are narrow with no more than three lanes and filled with traffic lights and stop signs,
because of that cars usually get held up by traffic and leads to congestion. This phenomenon usually
leads to an effect commonly called late to work . With that in mind, motorcycle commuting saves time
because they are allowed to filter traffic in a congested condition (different rules may apply for
different countries). A testimony by a motorcycle magazine editor theoretically calculated he saved up
to 24 hours each month just by commuting on motorcycles in San Francisco, one of the megalopolises
in Northern California. @testimony san fran On the other part of the world, in Sydney AUS, a race
type study was done by The Herald, local newspaper publisher. Purpose of the race was to find out
which mode of transport is the fastest way from North Shore towards the Parliament House on
Macquarie Street during peak hours. The race includes a car, bicycle, scooter, on foot and public
transport (bus and train). The winner was scooter with only 25minutes and 12 minutes faster than a
car. This shows that motorcycle saves almost 50 percent of the time spent in the car in traffic.

Bison In The 19th Century
In spite of the Native Americans, Bison were hunted near extinction in the 19th century. Stats show
that bison population decreases in the late 1880s. They were hunted for fur, with the rest of the animal
left behind to decay in the ground. After they rotted their bones were found packaged and shipped
East. Main purpose the U.S. military hunted buffalo was to deprive Native Americans of food because
that was what they lived off of, also to clear the great plains and make space for railroads. In 2005
hunting buffalo became illegal, U.S. Senate offered each states American tribes two hunters license

Most of us are not neutral in feeling, but, as human beings, we have to remember that, if the issues
between East and West are to be decided in any manner that can give any possible satisfaction to
anybody, whether Communist or anti Communist, whether Asian or European or American, whether
White or Black, then these issues must not be decided by war. We should wish this to be understood,

Carburetor Essay
FUEL INJECTION
A fuel injector is a device or technology that introduces the fuel into the combustion unit of an internal
combustion engine. It is an alternative method to carburetor. Fuel is injected into the cylinder where
combustion happen. In order to burn , fuel must be vaporized to be and make sure the air at correct
ratio . This job can be performed by either a carburetor or a fuel injection system.
If there is not enough fuel mixed with the air, the engine runs lean and either will not run or damages
the engine.
How fuel injector is better than carburetor
In new cars, fuel injection is becoming universal because it provides a better fuel efficiency and much
lower emissions
Carburetor is used in older cars , but it is still used in machines like lawnmovers and chainsaw
First take a look at carburetor
The carburetor has been the device that supplied fuel to the engine . It uses in older cars and simple
machines likelawnmover and chainsaw . But carburetor got complicated to handle different tasks .
The carburetor has 5 different circuit
 Main circuit Provides just enough fuel for fuel efficient cruising
 Idle circuit Pr0vides just enough fuel t0 keep the engine idling
 Accelerator pump Provides an extra burst of fuel when the accelerator pedal is first depressed,
reducing hesitation before the engine speeds up
 Power enrichment circuit Provides extra fuel when

What Is The Theme Of Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
Outliers are far more than successful people who have created their own success stories. What we see
on the outer wall are highly intelligent people with strong ambitions, however, Outliers written by
Malcolm Gladwell proves this view incorrect. Gladwell takes us through examples of how some of the
most successful people in the world have been influenced by cultures and communities even to
parenting styles. In Outliers, the focus is not on how people flourish; instead, it s everything that s
around them that plays a role in Gladwell s explanation of success.

film at first glance, Apocalypse Now is a thriller/drama about the human psyche. Using no surrealist

Willards voice over plays an essential part in the film; since he is the protagonist, the voice over gives
context to everything that is happening, and functions to create his character. Willards voice over

America The Beautiful By Katharine Bates America The...
One of the most iconic patriotic songs, America The Beautiful was originally written by Katherine Lee
Bates, who was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970 (Songwriters Hall of Fame) as a
result of her success. The melody, created separately, was produced by choirmaster and organist
Samuel A. Ward. The melody was originally developed for one of his works called Materna . The
poem by Bates and the music by Ward was combined and published in 1910 as the final product,
America the Beautiful . This recording of America the Beautiful is performed by the United States
Navy and Sea Chanters chorus, which adds to its patriotic significance. The original hymn
copyrighted by Katharine bates has as many as four verses (The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American

The Most Common Form Of Dementia
The second most common form of dementia is vascular dementia, which happens when there is a
blockage in the blood vessels that is in the vast system of the arteries that feeds the brain. Vascular
dementia is known to affect the thinking process and older people are generally more prone to
developing this disorder. Vascular Dementia, also known as multi infarct dementia, occurs when cells
in the brain are deprived of oxygen. Mini strokes, also known as silent strokes, are the cause of partial
blockage of the blood vessels. The people that suffer from strokes have a 30% chance of getting
dementia within three months of their stroke (Kumral and Özgören, 2017).

Which older people are more prone to blockage of these arteries
Correspondingly, there are two pathways that transports blood to the brain called internal carotid
artery and vertebral artery. The internal carotid artery has three layers call the tunica adventitia, tunica
media, and tunica intima. Tunica intima is made up of smooth muscle cells and elastin. The basilar
artery forms and it branches out to the posterior cerebral arteries. The posterior cerebral arteries form
the internal carotid arteries and when they connect they make cerebral arterial circle ( circle of willis).
The middle cerebral arteries branch out two separate arteries called the anterior cerebral arteries. Each
of these arteries are the force that direct the blood flow to the brain. There are three tiny vascular
systems that work together to profuse the deep brain. Which are the pial, subependymal, and
lenticulostriate arteries. The small area of white matter that depends on blood flow is called the
subcortical shed water area. The subcortical is more prone than other areas of the brain to have
ischemia. The leading cause of ischemia is the fibrin builds up and this cause a narrowing of the
lumen. Which does not allow the flow of red blood cells and deprives the white matter of tissue of
oxygen. The tissue then losses density and produces white matter lesions. The neurons become
demyelinated which leads to loss of cognitive ability.
Furthermore, the symptoms displayed by vascular dementia will

An Example Of Physical Abuse
Abuse is behaviour towards a person which deliberately or unintentionally causes harm to them. It is a
violation of an individual s human and civil rights and in the worst cases can result in death. There are
6 types of abuse: Physical Abuse Sexual Abuse Emotional Abuse Financial Abuse Neglect
Discrimination Physical Abuse Physical Abuse is when someone physically causes you harm, this can
include things such as; hitting, kicking, pulling hair, pinching, scratching, shaking or (in a care related
situation), giving someone too much or not enough medicine. An example of physical abuse in care
setting is if you are to punch or kick someone intentionally to cause harm to them. Another example
would be a personal carer not giving an elderly person the correct amount of medicine at the right
times to cause harm. Sexual Abuse Sexual Abuse is when someone is making you do sexual things
and actions which might make you sad, angry or frightened. This includes things such as; being
touched when you do not want to be, being made to touch other people in ways you do not want to,
undressing or having sexual intercourse with someone when you do not want to, or being made to
watch or say sexual things when you do not want to. Sexual abuse is not always between strangers,
and can be between husband and wife, or two members of the family. An example of this is if a

Analysis Of Tomorrow When The War Began
Tomorrow, When the War Began , written by John Marsden, is the first of seven books from the
Tomorrow series. Through the first person perspective of the character Ellie Linton, Marsden told the
story of a group of teenager who found themselves in the war zone after coming back from a
bushwalking trip to Hell . They later came to the realisation that an unknown force had invaded their
country. In order to survive, the group had to stick with each other and fight to win back their town.
The characters changed as the story progressed, they become more independent, they think more
strategically and built a stronger bond between each other. Marsden used various text features like the
narrative point of view, symbolism and contrast to draw sympathy from the audience. Marsden told
the story through the narrative view of Ellie Linton. She was assigned the role of writing down the
events occurred to leave a record of their experience of the invasion. Since the text was written from
what Ellie sees, hears and thinks, she included pronouns like I, you, we, us to include the readers to
the text. It makes the readers feel like they are a part of the group and they are participating in the
teens operations. She also included various emotions like bravery, love and fear within her writing.
Ellie showed that she is scared to lose her friends and her own life from being in the war zone. This
feeling developed at a very early stage of the story as she thought For the first time, we

Fig 1. Structure of HIV 1. Adopted from eMedWiki.
The HIV life cycle occurs in six stages namely; Fusion, Reverse transcription, Integration,
transcription, assembly, and budding. Inorder for the virus to proceed to each stage and continue to
replicate into new viral cells, it requires catalytic enzymes such as reverse transcriptase (RT),
Intergrase (IG), and protease (PT). These replicating enzymes and cycle phases have been identified as
potential therapeutic drug targets for HIV therapy (Fig 2), therefore leading to the development of
novel anti retroviral drugs as stated below;
Fusion Inhibitors (FIs) and Entry inhibitors (EIs): They prevent entry of the viral capsid into the host
CD4+ T cell, by inhibiting the viral Gp41 and Gp120 from binding and fusing with chemocokine
coreceptors CCR5 or CXCR4 on the surface of the host cell. This further prevents the release of viral
replicating enzymes (reverse transcriptase, Intergrase, and protease) from the viral capsid into the host
cell. (Wilen et al., 2011). Examples are Enfuvirtide (FIs) and Maraviroc (EIs).
Reverse transcriptase Inhibitors (RTIs): There are 3 different classes of RTI and these include
nucleoside RTIs (NRTIs), Non nucleotide RTIs (NNRTIs), and nucleotide RTIs (NTRTIs). Inorder to

Analysis Of AinT No Rest For The Wicked
Ain t No Rest for the Wicked is a song by Cage the Elephant, and released as a single on June 16,
2008, but released in 2009 on the album Cage the Elephant . This song was written in the middle of
the Great Recession of 2007 2009 in the United States and is heavily influenced by the economic
issues during that time period. Matthew Schultz, a member of the band, told an interviewer about how
he came up with the song and what inspired him to write it. Schultz explained how he was working in
construction at the time he wrote the song, and how he asked a drug dealer why he did not stop doing
drugs and selling them, to which he replied, There ain t no rest for the wicked ( Cage the Elephant )
and that he has to work without rest in order to earn money, even if it meant that he could be arrested.
Ain t No Rest for the Wicked is a first person narrative and has a motif of events that reference
Marxist criticism because it focuses on the idea that society is greatly impacted by the state of the
economy and that people are willing to commit immoral acts to make a living. In the first verse of Ain

Violence Is A Straightforward Premise
Violence has a straightforward premise. We have a tendency to focus on what Žižek calls subjective
violence: demonstrations of strike, murder, dread and war. However, there are two different
assortments of target brutality: the symbolic violence found in speech , and systemic violence, the
often catastrophic consequences of the functioning of our economic and political systems . Žižek then
embarks to break down these types of objective violence, however he winds up concentrating totally
on the systemic assortment.
What never ceases to surprise is how the very same people who commit terrible acts of violence
towards their enemies can display warm humanity and gentle care for the members of their own
group. The display of contradictions is not in the least pointless: all the time it drives Žižek to turn up
real gems. His analysis of the suspect motivations of what he calls liberal communists the informed,
liberal working classes is a good example of parody: Liberal communists also love the student protests
which shattered France in May 1968: what an explosion of youthful energy and creativity! However a
main idea that stood out to me the most, was his idea on tolerance: My duty to be tolerant towards the
Other effectively means that I should not get too close him, intrude on his space. In other words, I
should respect his intolerance of my over proximity.

Taming Of The Shrew Identity
Taming of the Shrew: People Act the Way They are Treated Society has a tendency to believe that the
way one perceives another individual is how they truly are. It is human nature to construct one s
personality based on the way one may speak or behave. However, it is also human nature to accept
these roles created by others. In this modern day society, the majority believe that they are in charge of
their own individuality. Yet, the way others behave towards a particular individual is what shapes one
s identity. This is well demonstrated by William Shakespeare in Taming of the Shrew. In this play,
many characters easily mold into various other personas. Throughout the entire play, Shakespeare
constantly emphasizes how individuals behave differently based on how others look upon them. This
is shown repeatedly through the lives and experiences of Katherina, Bianca and Christopher Sly. To
begin with, Christopher Sly changes his entire identity based on how his peers were behaving towards
him. After being treated differently for a short amount of time, Sly changes his entire persona. When
Sly wakes up confused, as he is surrounded by his servants, whom constantly refer to him as a lord.

attractive to the elite high school and college players that have the ability to play professionally. Not to

Into The Wild Personal Response
Into the Wild a story that gave a life event and a deranged experience. I personally believe no one
would want to experience what Mcandless went through ever. Unless of course they like to be lonely
like sir and have freedom. like McCandless himself. Even then I would still think people out in this
world would not want to live what he went through, So frightened to know you prefer being alone
with no ones help. To come to think that freedom does exist and you ll have it one day but, will you
really?
McCandless was a tough soldier went through tough times but to him it was all an experience and as
far as we know might ve enjoyed every little moment he spent out in the wild. I guess it is true when
they say God gives his toughest wars to his toughest soldiers Mcandless was one hell of a soldier. ...

We have a young and wild mentality that might lead us toward the wrong directions. Which is why
sometimes we have to think twice before we take action. In Chris s case actions were not taking he
took it for granted took his young early ages of life as they would come back one day. Us as teens or
young adults don t acknowledge the purpose of life we take it for granted. It s crazy but almost
nobody acknowledges the purpose of life. Which is why I wonder , is it because we don t know the
purpose or we just tend to have fun within our lives. Sometimes that fun is out of control and isn t the
right path. Sometimes it leads to bad habits, bad reputation, or even worse death. Who wants death to
come knock at our door step for taking the wrong direction for not acknowledging what life is really
worth for thinking you re the big bright brain and anything anyone says or does is not relevant. So I
ask Is it worth it? Is it worth taking the wrong direction? All because you thought it would be the best
decision you have ever made. All because you want to be alone or have

Obsession With Drag Queens
The Gayest Summer Ever My obsession with drag queens has intensified, especially over the past
couple months; and it all began when I went to my cousins house in St. Louis. Ronni and Dorothy are
my only cousins that are my age, and like me, they are both quite different from your average fifteen
year old girl. Their obsession with drag queens started long before I came over this year, so they
basically convinced me it was the best thing ever, and I haven t been the same since. Every summer
we plan to have a little get together type thing that usually lasts about a week, week and a half. When
Ronni and I were planning what all we would do, she told me we would be going to Pride St. Louis,
which is a support event for the LGBT+. Being a supporter, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although she only sang three songs, it was most definately worth it because we we in the front row
against the catwalk and got to touch her. She. Was. Glorious. I just thought to myself, I will never love
anyone as much as I love this person, right here. We were convinced we d be able to meet her after the
show, but unfortunately security was being extremely rude, so we left, disappointed. Luckily enough,
we got taco bell afterwards, so with that, I could sleep happily. As we arrived back at Ronni s house, I
got ice cream, and ran back to my room where my laptop was, and began my PCD (post concert
depression) stalking. I started by rewatching season 6, to watching live preformances on youtube, to
memorizing and buying every song she had written/sang. In other words, I was super sad to leave, and
I couldn t get enough of Adore Delano. I had to leave a couple days after Pride, so I still had PCD by
the time I got home. I began watching all of Rupaul s Drag Race and Rupaul s Drag Race Allstars, and
finished within a week. By then I had chosen a group of about 15 drag queens that I loved, and stalked
all of them. I also began getting into other queen s music, so now about 30 songs on my phone are
sang by drag

Evolution Of Moses Research Paper
The two key figures in Hebrew culture, God and Moses, evolve throughout the bible, but their
evolution is best seen in Exodus. The development of character is revealed when individuals are
placed in stressful situations, certainly in the bible both God and Moses are presented with challenging
situations which cause them to undergo change. However, because the book we are reading is the
bible, every action performed by a character and every change undergone is representative of the ideal
choice from the standpoint of the Hebrew culture. This means that every action taken by God and
Moses is written to teach a lesson to the reader. The evolution of God is interesting to track because
we are taught that God is perfect and immutable, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, because Moses is to become the leader of the Hebrew people, he is mentioned outside
exodus and his development is made clear through the Midrash, and much later in the bible in Acts.
One of the ways we see a definite change in Moses is shown in his humility. In Acts 7.25, he believes
that the Hebrews would see him as their savior after he killed the abusive taskmaster, but that isn t the
case. There is a huge change after 40 years of shepherding, when Moses is asked by God to return to
Egypt in Exodus 3.11, he responds Who am I that should go to Pharaoh? showing that he has been
humbled by his stay in a strange land. Another change that occurs during this time, is Moses proving
to God that he can be leader of God s chosen people. This happens in the midrash of Exodus and
referenced in Luke 15.4 6, and is the story of Moses and the lost Sheep. The message presented is that
if Moses would spend the whole day to go after a lost sheep, what would he to find a lost member of
his own flock . This change in Moses is the reason why God allows him to return to Egypt and lead

Grocery industry is a highly competitive market with thin profit margins. Super markets are dominant
players in the grocery industry. They use grocery offerings to drive traffic to their higher profit margin
retail items. With its operations efficiency, Walmart, the largest grocery retailer has been able to offer
significant price drops. This also forces other grocery stores to drop prices which keeps the profit
margin thin. Even with all the advantages of operational efficiency and economies of scale, Walmart s
share in grocery sales was down at 51% in 2011.
Industry Analysis:

area format with limited products which has put them in the top rank for sales per square feet.

Biography of Henry Food
Henry Ford is the man who forever changed American automobiles. Henry Ford converted the
automobile from a luxury toy to a mainstream item of American society. During the beginning of the
20th century, the automobile was considered a luxury for the wealthy but Ford was determined to
create an affordable and reliable car that a majority of Americans could invest in. This model that
Henry Ford created was called the Model T, and it is one of the main reasons why Henry Ford is
remembered as an extremely influential person in American society. Ford s ability to apply new ideas
to complicated problems and create something that is convenient for the average american is the cause
of his success; his assembly line, fordism and implementation also contributed immensely to this
success. Henry Ford was born in GreenField Township, Michigan on July 30th, 1863. He is the
founder of Ford Motor Company which still exists today; he was also one of the principal American
industrialists during the 20th century. At the start of the 20th century, automobiles were considered
toys for the wealthy, Ford was determined to change this perspective. Henry Ford wanted to change
the image of an automobile for America, he urged the creation of a cheaper, more affordable and
reliable car that all could enjoy and invest in. Although, Ford never physically created/invented
anything, his input was always highly praised. Ford produced the Model T in 1908; it was in the
economic range of most Americans

Pros Of Confounding
To become a more thorough researcher, one must be able to evaluate and analyze the various
components of their study, including that of the independent and dependent variables, the participants,
the experimental setting. Even during the process of designing one s study, trying to design a study
that does not have confounding variables, it can be a difficult task with much benefits. According to
Halpern et al. (2007), the fundamental goal of psychological research: to discover the causes and
consequences of behavior (Halpern, Roediger, Sternberg, p. 131, 2007). Thusly, for psychological
research to show proper and true results without any alternate explanations, the study must be free of
confounding variables. If there are confounding variables ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having many measures in my study, with multiple readings and questionnaires, the order of the
materials could have become a confound variable. For example, if I were to let participants read the
manipulated trial transcript then complete the questionnaires, they could guess the purpose of the
study (which is not juror decision making). I believe that besides one analyzing their study, having
peer reviews is very beneficial for founding out confounds that could occur in one s study. For my
peer review group, the suggestion of changing the ages was beneficial because not only have I haven t
thought about the issues with the previous ages (18, 23), but I understand why the new ages (17, 21)
are more suitable. With the change of the ages at a more appropriate age, my chances of confounds
have decreased and could decrease suspicions from participants regarding the age difference. This
chapter has also made me aware of what experimental methods to lean on if I wanted to perform a
study that was correlational. Overall, being able to critically analyze the study and make changes to
avoid confounds is the best for experimental and correlational studies to remain internally valid for not
only that current study, but future research as

Why Is Christopher Columbus Bad
Christopher Columbus: A Villain In an attempt to get to Asia, Italian explorer Christopher Columbus
discovered the Americas. His efforts were funded by Spain because, like Columbus, they wanted gold,
wealth, and power. Columbus had ideas that Earth was smaller than it really was and was also
unaware of the land mass that is the present day Americas. So when he thought he arrived at Asia, he
was really no where close. During his expedition, Columbus and his crew came across many Native
Americans, specifically, the Arawaks. They treated the natives terribly even when the natives were
very kind to them. They took the natives as slaves, inflicted diseases upon them and tricked them. The
natives offered them many things upon their arrival to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately Columbus did anything but return the favor. He took many of them as prisoners in
hopes that they would be able to give him information as too where gold may be. The Spaniards and
Columbus would make the natives work for months of end and the Arawak husbands and wives would
only see each other once every eight months or so. The way these people were treated was abusive,
and all of it was inflicted upon them by Columbus and the Spaniards that were along with him. The
natives died by the thousands. For example, in 1515 there was about 50,000 natives and in 1550 there
was about five hundred. When any of the natives had tried to escape or run away they were hunted
down, or if they had not done they re job well enough and did not earn a copper token, their hands
were cut off. Once it was decided there was no gold left, the Spaniards took the natives as slaves and
brought them back to Spain to be sold. However on the way back to Spain, two hundred out of the five
hundred natives had died. The Spaniards would make the natives carry them around if they were
feeling tired or did not want to walk somewhere, they compared the natives to animals. It is clear that
Columbus was nothing but an inhumane villain with no consideration for other

Reflection Paper On Court Hearing
This reflection paper is over my fifth week at my practicum site. This week I was in the office on
Monday and Tuesday. This week I was able to attend a court hearing and I wrote up my visitation log
from the visit that happened last week.
There are a lot of things that has to happen when the Department of Children and Family Services
(DCFS) take protective custody (PC) of a child. After DCFS has taken PC over a child or children
they have to have court within 2 days. The court date is considered the first court hearing. The
perpetrator is encouraged to come and they have been appointed and attorney. The attorney will be
there to represent their client at this first initial court hearing.
The first court hearing consists of many different things. The first thing that happen is the investigator
is called to the stand and asked questions about what happened during the investigation that were
significant enough to take PC. This is a precaution step to make sure the kids were removed for a
legitimate reason. At this point the judge can sign off on the order of PC or return the kids home to the
perpetrator. The investigator explained this process to me prior to going into the courtroom and she
said the judge never sends the kids back home. The perpetrator can be called to the stand but most of
the time they are not. The next thing that is put in place is a permanency order for the child. The
permanency order is put in place for temporary housing. The last thing that is filed

College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Serampore, Hooghly, West Bengal, PIN 712201. India. E Mail: cmanjari@gmail.com Abstract Coastal areas provide livelihood facilities to many and also offer vast recreational and economic activities, and yet, at the same time, such eco regions require to be managed with special emphasis and consideration of its natural and cultural resources. Land cover classification of such diverse sea land regions requires a high level of effort and plays a vital role for the analysis of time based or event based change on certain areas. For effective utilization of remote sensed images obtained from Earth orbiting satellites, a lot of image classification methods are available in literature. In this paper, we use the method of unsupervised classification for the users convenience and flexibility, low computational requirements and moderate classification accuracy. The objectives of the paper is to classify the land cover by mapping the region into W S V (Water, Soil, Vegetation) components using the unsupervised K means algorithm, to obtain land use/cover gray scale image combining the W S V components and thereby finally deriving the related performance metrics such as histogram and land cover correlation. • 4. Truth vs. Perception The concept of truth versus perception can be observed in nearly all aspects of life. What is the truth these days; in newspaper articles, current affair shows or stories that a friend is telling you, is it truth or is it a version of the truth? The complexities inherent in this concept of truth versus perception will be discussed in relation to two texts; Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose, and, After the First Death by Robert Cormier. What is the key difference between truth and perception , and which is more important? The truth is the reality of the fact while perception is the truth relative to oneself. This is very convincing evidence, that it was the only blade of its particular craftsmanship, it was identified as property of the boy by his friends and it was also the same blade used to kill his father. This is the facts presented by the prosecution, the truth . This truth is wavered when the 8th juror brings out a blade exactly the same as the one as the one the boy had. It is interesting as the shopkeeper stated that it was rare and unusual yet, the 8th juror brought the same one from a pawn shop near the boy s house. This contradiction therefore questions the credibility of the shopkeeper s accounts and brings a shadow of a doubt to this case. The boy s friends did indeed identify it as the death weapon but with the possibility of this switchblade being an abundant produce, it also presents the possibility that another person stabbed and killed his father with the same kind of knife. The next piece of evidence that is debated is the testimony of one of the key witnesses of the prosecution. The old man living downstairs heard the boy yell, I ll kill you! followed by a thump on the floor. He then witnessed a young man, supposedly the defendant, running away. The old man said that after the thump, he ran straight to the door in fifteen seconds and saw the boy running as he opened the door. During the proceedings of the trial, the old man was dragging his foot slowly across the floor having recently suffered a stroke. The jurors observed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Determining The Standard Error, Or Standard Deviation Of... Assignment Ans 1.1 a) The standard error, or standard deviation of the sample mean, = population standard deviation/square root of sample size = $10.75/14 b) z = (60 68.30)/10.75 = 0.77 from the z tables we see that the probability that z is less than 0.77 is .2206, so the probability that x is GREATER than 60 is 1 .2206 = .7794. c) Now we are dealing with variation of the sample mean, so the standard error is 10.75/sqrt(100) = 1.075 Z = (66 68.30)/1.075 = 2.14, and the associated probability is .0162. 5. 150 138=12 = 1 standard deviation. By the empirical rule, we know that 68% of the data fall within 1 standard deviation of the mean, above and below. Since the normal distribution is symmetrical, 34% fall within 1 standard deviation below the mean (i.e. between 138 and 150). So a score of 138 is the equivalent of a z score of 1. Similarly, a score of 162 is the equivalent of a z score of 1. By the Empirical Rule, approximately 95% of the data fall within 2 standard deviations above and below the mean, so that would be from 126 to 174. Same principle as above, but this time it s plus or minus 3 standard deviations, from 114 to 186. Ans 1.2: a) The standard error of the mean, also called the standard deviation of the mean, is a method used to estimate the standard deviation of a sampling distribution. To understand this, first we need to understand why a sampling distribution is required. In statistics, point estimation involves the use of sample data to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Merengue and Bachata are the two most popular music genres in the Dominican Republic. These two kinds of music represent the Dominican Republic and its people. Many Dominicans have taken their music and traditions to different parts of the world. Mainly, the Bachata and Merengue have expanded to different cities of the United States and Latin America. It originated in Africa and was brought to the Caribbean by the West African slaves that came to work plantation (Larson, 2017). Moreover, the guira is a percussion instrument that is played by rasping a metal stick against the rough surface of the instrument (Solano, 2017). Also, there is the saxophone, which is one of the last instruments that was added to the Merengue Tipico, and contributes to give a better rhythm to it. The other instrument that is essential in Merengue Tipico is the accordion. This is a musical instrument that has form of a box. It is held and played by pulling the sides apart and then pushing them together while pressing buttons and keys. However, the instruments in Bachata are completely different, except that the guira is also played in Bachata. The instruments used to play bachata are the lead guitar, the segunda guitar, the bass guitar, the bongos, and the güira (Marracco, 2014). The lead guitar, the segunda guitar and the bass guitar are essential to play Bachata. These instruments are the ones that make the most improvisation. • 8. Of Justice In William Shakespearer, Hamlet, And Thomas... William Shakespeare s King Lear, Hamlet, and Thomas Hardy s Mayor of Casterbridge each examine both the search for and the effects of justice. King Lear is a case study of a failed monarch and his remorse for not having been a better king. Hamlet tasks a teenage boy with avenging his father s death, prompting questions about morality and righteousness. The Mayor of Casterbridge is a man s attempts to reconcile his shortcomings with what he feels is right. Tragically, in each of these works the search for justice, or the character s flawed understanding of it, is ultimately unsuccessful, resulting in injustice towards others. King Lear is defined by the figurehead monarch s quest for what he sees as justice for himself. After Goneril and Regan betray him by refusing to house his nights, King Lear calls upon the heavens avenge him and punish his daughters with a storm. O heavens, he implores, If you do love old men, if your sweet sway Show obedience, if you yourselves are old, Make it your cause. Send down, and take my part (2.4.217 220). These lines, uttered in the raw emotion of a man who feels wronged by those he loves, are representative of Lear s temper and distress when things don t go his way. His daughters perceived insult to him spurs a helpless call for justice from the gods, a justice Lear no longer can carry out because he has divested himself of power. Research Design In examining the empirical data of post Communist reform, I hope to exhibit the real impact of geographical factors on political and economic reform in an effort to abandon conventional explanations of this discussion. My intent with this research is to introduce the notion that spatial issues can be as much of a determinant of state behavior, as any other factor. It is completely okay to believe and stick to gender roles on one s own terms, but the issue lies when the individual is oppressed or harassed for straying from the subjective social construct of standards. Sheryl Sandberg talks about this issue in Lean In: What Would You Do If You Weren t Afraid. She proposes the idea that the reason women do not receive results equal to their male counterparts is not because of lack of opportunity, but because they are choosing to pursue different priorities than men. In Why Women Still Can t Have It All, Anne Marie Slaughter discusses the idea that in today s economic and social environment, it is not realistic for women to try to have it all. Sandberg quotes and endorses Judith Rodin s statement that My generation fought so hard to give all of you choices. We believe in choices (645). Slaughter and Dorment s articles focus more on the cause and effect of this phenomenon, but their messages at the root are the same. In recent history, the majority of the movement regarding the gender gap in the workplace has been in response to the opportunity available to males versus female. Today however, that debate topic has shifted to explain why opportunity does not grantee professional success and what role society plays on that restriction. It was already said by Sandberg that a difference in biology affects the choices individuals make, and that issue alone is independent from any social construct that would usually affect choices. Slaughter outlines one of these societal flaws is in the unspoken rules or norms of hiring and firing in Washington. She states, to admit to, much less act on, maternal longings would have been fatal to their careers. Often a euphemism for being fired is saying that one is leaving to focus on homemaking. In this book he argues that secularisation is not a single notion and goes on to explore the many factors he believes has contributed to secularisation. Bruce takes a sociological point of view as he draws on tradition starting from Durkheim and Weber to more recent sociologist such as Martin and Niebuhr. Bruce states that the aim of the first chapter is to clear the way for sensible debate about secularisation (2002: p.1) and to lay out what modern sociologists actually mean by secularisation. Within this book Bruce uses a range of literature from other sociologists regarding the secularisation debate in order to present and argue that secularisation is occurring. Bruce does acknowledge that there are many interpretations of what secularisation is and does say that there is no one secularisation theory (2002: p.2). But rather, there are groups of similar explanations that adhere to each other quite well. According to Bruce trying to define secularisation before offering explanations of it is harder as scholars tend to combine their definitions. However he does use other sociologists definitions of secularisation, he uses Berger and Luckmann s definition that shows the decline of religious social power, as they define it as, the progressive autonomization of societal sectors from the domination of religious meaning and institutions . Everybody has instances throughout their lives where they will try extremely hard, but fail in the end. A lot of these instances may even be just the smallest things, but when they happen it is never a good feeling. You will get feelings of disappointment, and anger, but the problems that occur in Kevin Power s book are much more than that. The book The Yellow Birds is a fictional story, but the thing that makes it so good is that the author was in the war himself. Even though this great story is made up, Kevin Powers definitely had an advantage on explaining how powerful the war really was on people. What was written in the book could be very similar to things he had experienced himself while he served our country. • 19. Analysis Of Yevgeny Zamyatin s The Road For Future... Yevgeny Zamyatin s We is known as the first dystopian novel and has paved the road for future dystopian novels, like George Orwell s 1984. Both We and 1984 are scarily relevant to the 21st century and act as warnings against the natural outcomes of totalitarianism. We s protagonist is numbered D 503, a mathematician and the engineer behind the Integral. He lives under the careful watch of the Guardians and stays loyal to the authoritarian rule of the Benefactor. He lives in a city state called the One State (or United State), which was created as a result of the 200 Years War in which the city won over the country and has protected itself from the primitive world by building a wall around itself. This plot greatly influenced Orwell to write his own version of this dystopia in 1984. The novel 1984 by George Orwell leaves its readers thinking whether the world is capable of successfully functioning under a government of extreme totalitarianism. However, ruled by the intangible body called Big Brother, which consists of the ministries of love, war, and truth, the government develops an image of him that is almighty. Though not a physical character, it s presented to the people of Airstrip One as a supreme figure that has the power to conduct surveillance and watch over everyone. Petrified of a lack of freedom and excessive censorship in the future, Orwell and Zamyatin were among the first to have penned the consequences of an abusive and illogical government. Through the ... Art Class Analysis When I first arrived at Boston College, I learned and heard through my peers that taking an art class was something everyone did Junior or Senior year in order to fulfill the core. I had inferred that an art class was something easier than other classes that provided more traditional classroom academics. However, I found this to be strange as I never believed that an art class was easy; in fact I believe that an art class can be much more difficult than a class like English, Math, or History. Vascular Dementia, also known as multi infarct dementia, occurs when cells in the brain are deprived of oxygen. The basilar artery forms and it branches out to the posterior cerebral arteries. The posterior cerebral arteries form the internal carotid arteries and when they connect they make cerebral arterial circle ( circle of willis). The middle cerebral arteries branch out two separate arteries called the anterior cerebral arteries. Each of these arteries are the force that direct the blood flow to the brain. There are three tiny vascular systems that work together to profuse the deep brain. Which are the pial, subependymal, and lenticulostriate arteries. The small area of white matter that depends on blood flow is called the subcortical shed water area. The subcortical is more prone than other areas of the brain to have ischemia. The leading cause of ischemia is the fibrin builds up and this cause a narrowing of the lumen. Which does not allow the flow of red blood cells and deprives the white matter of tissue of oxygen. We have a tendency to focus on what Žižek calls subjective violence: demonstrations of strike, murder, dread and war. However, there are two different assortments of target brutality: the symbolic violence found in speech , and systemic violence, the often catastrophic consequences of the functioning of our economic and political systems . Žižek then embarks to break down these types of objective violence, however he winds up concentrating totally on the systemic assortment. What never ceases to surprise is how the very same people who commit terrible acts of violence towards their enemies can display warm humanity and gentle care for the members of their own group. The display of contradictions is not in the least pointless: all the time it drives Žižek to turn up real gems. His analysis of the suspect motivations of what he calls liberal communists the informed, liberal working classes is a good example of parody: Liberal communists also love the student protests which shattered France in May 1968: what an explosion of youthful energy and creativity! However a main idea that stood out to me the most, was his idea on tolerance: My duty to be tolerant towards the Other effectively means that I should not get too close him, intrude on his space. In this modern day society, the majority believe that they are in charge of their own individuality. Yet, the way others behave towards a particular individual is what shapes one s identity. This is well demonstrated by William Shakespeare in Taming of the Shrew. In this play, many characters easily mold into various other personas. It is interesting to see that religion is a topic that not just psychologists are interested to study, but that there are other professionals who are passionate to study about religion like anthropologists, sociologists among others, each of them seeing religion in their own ways and also coming up with their own theories that we can all learn from for us to have our own opinion about ... • 42. Into The Wild Personal Response Into the Wild a story that gave a life event and a deranged experience. I personally believe no one would want to experience what Mcandless went through ever. Unless of course they like to be lonely like sir and have freedom. like McCandless himself. Even then I would still think people out in this world would not want to live what he went through, So frightened to know you prefer being alone with no ones help. To come to think that freedom does exist and you ll have it one day but, will you really? McCandless was a tough soldier went through tough times but to him it was all an experience and as far as we know might ve enjoyed every little moment he spent out in the wild. I guess it is true when they say God gives his toughest wars to his toughest soldiers Mcandless was one hell of a soldier. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We have a young and wild mentality that might lead us toward the wrong directions. Which is why sometimes we have to think twice before we take action. In Chris s case actions were not taking he took it for granted took his young early ages of life as they would come back one day. Us as teens or young adults don t acknowledge the purpose of life we take it for granted. It s crazy but almost nobody acknowledges the purpose of life. Which is why I wonder , is it because we don t know the purpose or we just tend to have fun within our lives. Sometimes that fun is out of control and isn t the right path. Sometimes it leads to bad habits, bad reputation, or even worse death. Who wants death to come knock at our door step for taking the wrong direction for not acknowledging what life is really worth for thinking you re the big bright brain and anything anyone says or does is not relevant. • 43. Obsession With Drag Queens The Gayest Summer Ever My obsession with drag queens has intensified, especially over the past couple months; and it all began when I went to my cousins house in St. Louis. Ronni and Dorothy are my only cousins that are my age, and like me, they are both quite different from your average fifteen year old girl. Their obsession with drag queens started long before I came over this year, so they basically convinced me it was the best thing ever, and I haven t been the same since. Every summer we plan to have a little get together type thing that usually lasts about a week, week and a half. When Ronni and I were planning what all we would do, she told me we would be going to Pride St. Louis, which is a support event for the LGBT+. Being a supporter, ... We were convinced we d be able to meet her after the show, but unfortunately security was being extremely rude, so we left, disappointed. Luckily enough, we got taco bell afterwards, so with that, I could sleep happily. As we arrived back at Ronni s house, I got ice cream, and ran back to my room where my laptop was, and began my PCD (post concert depression) stalking. I started by rewatching season 6, to watching live preformances on youtube, to memorizing and buying every song she had written/sang. In other words, I was super sad to leave, and I couldn t get enough of Adore Delano. I had to leave a couple days after Pride, so I still had PCD by the time I got home. I began watching all of Rupaul s Drag Race and Rupaul s Drag Race Allstars, and finished within a week. By then I had chosen a group of about 15 drag queens that I loved, and stalked all of them. I also began getting into other queen s music, so now about 30 songs on my phone are sang by drag ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Evolution Of Moses Research Paper The two key figures in Hebrew culture, God and Moses, evolve throughout the bible, but their evolution is best seen in Exodus. The development of character is revealed when individuals are placed in stressful situations, certainly in the bible both God and Moses are presented with challenging situations which cause them to undergo change. However, because the book we are reading is the bible, every action performed by a character and every change undergone is representative of the ideal choice from the standpoint of the Hebrew culture. This means that every action taken by God and Moses is written to teach a lesson to the reader. The evolution of God is interesting to track because we are taught that God is perfect and immutable, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, because Moses is to become the leader of the Hebrew people, he is mentioned outside exodus and his development is made clear through the Midrash, and much later in the bible in Acts. One of the ways we see a definite change in Moses is shown in his humility. In Acts 7.25, he believes that the Hebrews would see him as their savior after he killed the abusive taskmaster, but that isn t the case. There is a huge change after 40 years of shepherding, when Moses is asked by God to return to Egypt in Exodus 3.11, he responds Who am I that should go to Pharaoh? showing that he has been humbled by his stay in a strange land. Another change that occurs during this time, is Moses proving to God that he can be leader of God s chosen people. This happens in the midrash of Exodus and referenced in Luke 15.4 6, and is the story of Moses and the lost Sheep. The message presented is that if Moses would spend the whole day to go after a lost sheep, what would he to find a lost member of his own flock . This change in Moses is the reason why God allows him to return to Egypt and lead his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Pros Of Confounding To become a more thorough researcher, one must be able to evaluate and analyze the various components of their study, including that of the independent and dependent variables, the participants, the experimental setting. Even during the process of designing one s study, trying to design a study that does not have confounding variables, it can be a difficult task with much benefits. According to Halpern et al. (2007), the fundamental goal of psychological research: to discover the causes and consequences of behavior (Halpern, Roediger, Sternberg, p. 131, 2007). Thusly, for psychological research to show proper and true results without any alternate explanations, the study must be free of confounding variables. If there are confounding variables ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having many measures in my study, with multiple readings and questionnaires, the order of the materials could have become a confound variable. For example, if I were to let participants read the manipulated trial transcript then complete the questionnaires, they could guess the purpose of the study (which is not juror decision making). I believe that besides one analyzing their study, having peer reviews is very beneficial for founding out confounds that could occur in one s study. For my peer review group, the suggestion of changing the ages was beneficial because not only have I haven t thought about the issues with the previous ages (18, 23), but I understand why the new ages (17, 21) are more suitable. With the change of the ages at a more appropriate age, my chances of confounds have decreased and could decrease suspicions from participants regarding the age difference. This chapter has also made me aware of what experimental methods to lean on if I wanted to perform a study that was correlational. Overall, being able to critically analyze the study and make changes to avoid confounds is the best for experimental and correlational studies to remain internally valid for not only that current study, but future research as ... His efforts were funded by Spain because, like Columbus, they wanted gold, wealth, and power. Columbus had ideas that Earth was smaller than it really was and was also unaware of the land mass that is the present day Americas. So when he thought he arrived at Asia, he was really no where close. During his expedition, Columbus and his crew came across many Native Americans, specifically, the Arawaks. They treated the natives terribly even when the natives were very kind to them. They took the natives as slaves, inflicted diseases upon them and tricked them. He took many of them as prisoners in hopes that they would be able to give him information as too where gold may be. The Spaniards and Columbus would make the natives work for months of end and the Arawak husbands and wives would only see each other once every eight months or so. The way these people were treated was abusive, and all of it was inflicted upon them by Columbus and the Spaniards that were along with him. The natives died by the thousands. For example, in 1515 there was about 50,000 natives and in 1550 there was about five hundred. When any of the natives had tried to escape or run away they were hunted down, or if they had not done they re job well enough and did not earn a copper token, their hands were cut off. Once it was decided there was no gold left, the Spaniards took the natives as slaves and brought them back to Spain to be sold. However on the way back to Spain, two hundred out of the five hundred natives had died. The Spaniards would make the natives carry them around if they were feeling tired or did not want to walk somewhere, they compared the natives to animals. • 49. Reflection Paper On Court Hearing This reflection paper is over my fifth week at my practicum site. This week I was in the office on Monday and Tuesday. This week I was able to attend a court hearing and I wrote up my visitation log from the visit that happened last week. There are a lot of things that has to happen when the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) take protective custody (PC) of a child. After DCFS has taken PC over a child or children they have to have court within 2 days. The court date is considered the first court hearing. The perpetrator is encouraged to come and they have been appointed and attorney. The attorney will be there to represent their client at this first initial court hearing. The first court hearing consists of many different things. The first thing that happen is the investigator is called to the stand and asked questions about what happened during the investigation that were significant enough to take PC. This is a precaution step to make sure the kids were removed for a legitimate reason. At this point the judge can sign off on the order of PC or return the kids home to the perpetrator. The investigator explained this process to me prior to going into the courtroom and she said the judge never sends the kids back home. The perpetrator can be called to the stand but most of the time they are not. The next thing that is put in place is a permanency order for the child. The permanency order is put in place for temporary housing. The last thing that is filed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
