Essay On Becoming A Recording Engineer
George Martin was the Beatles recording engineer during their 8 year career. George was the
man who gave life to much of the beatles music. He recorded them, mixed them, and mastered
them. He floated his own ideas into the music while simultaneously keeping it theirs. He is often
considered the fifth beatle due to his role in their music, as he rightly should. The career of a
recording engineer is one where a person can be creative and exercise his passion for music. In
the Recording Engineers line of work, there are two forms of employment. You can either work
in a large studio or work out of your home. Working in a Studio has its pros as well as its cons
just like working at home does. A studio job will mean you will have more work than your self
employed counterpart and more Engineers to work with. This is due to the fact that if the studio
you are working for is a reputable studio, then you will receive the fruits of said reputation.
Though, Working in a studio means you will work full time, or in some cases overtime, to meet a
deadline. Most will also work on holidays and weekends for the same reason. A self employed
Engineer will often set his own hours, but work less frequently. When they work, it is most often
out of their own home studio. This is why most self employed engineers... Show more content on

The industry is expected to grow by about 9% over the next decade with about 117,200

industry. As previously mentioned, if you work in a studio, you will be able to work with other

The Role Of Absolute Monarchy In France
The idea of an absolute monarchy had been the foundation of rule in Europe from the beginning.
However, a constitutional monarchy would provide a greater representation and opportunity for the
subjects of France moving forward. Migrating to a more democratic government through a
constitutional monarchy would better suit the people because it would grant the subjects more
political power while limiting the power of the King, and creating an equitable administration that
would abolish the caste system. Allowing this change created a form of accountability in regards to
the political power of the King to ensure that no ruler could abuse it. Under the absolute monarchy,
there was a divide between the three estates with the third estate, which

Alex Rodriguez Broke Into Spring Camp With The Seattle...
In 1994, an 18 year old kid from Miami named Alex Rodriguez broke into spring camp with the
Seattle Mariners in an attempt to make the team. After almost immediately stepping into a Major
League baseball field he became a household name. Within two years, he was an All Star. Within
five, a regular 40 homer player. By the turn of the century, many were already putting him into the
Hall of Fame discussion.
On August 12, 2016, Rodriguez played what will be his final game as a New York Yankee after an
incredible 12 years in New York. Considering the 41 year old s lack of playing time and declining
production after a resurgent effort in 2015, this may very well be the end of the A Rod era entirely.
And for A Rod, he was prepared to leave the game he fell in love with as a child.
I do want to be remembered as someone who was madly in love with the game of baseball, someone
who loves it at every level, Rodriguez said. Someone who loves to learn it, play it, teach it, coach
it. And also, I m going to be hopefully remembered as someone who tripped and fell a lot, but
someone that kept getting up.
Rodriguez has led a very controversial 22 year baseball career. His lowest moment being when he
was infamously suspended for the entire 2014 season following the Biogenesis investigation. The
longest suspension ever served in Major League Baseball history.
But his story did not end there.
In his 2015 campaign, in an attempt to redeem himself and earn back the love from the fans

Quotes For The Maze Runner
He died saving you. He made the choice himself. Just don t ever waste it. One of the last quotes
from James Dashner s novel, The Maze Runner. This science fiction novel is written as a form of
dystopian literature. This novel is the first of The Maze Runner Series, which consists of two
additional novels, The Scorch Trials and The Death Cure. Some of the main characters include,
Teresa, Chuck, Minho, Alby, and Newt, who all guide Thomas, the protagonist, in their quest to
escape the Glade. The Glade, a meadow the size of several football fields surrounded by vast walls
that form an immense maze, is the main setting of this story based on a post apocalyptic future.

While embarking in this journey, a question must be present at all times, that is, who put these
people here? Little is known of the Creators and their goals, but from what they are doing,
people can assume they don t have the best intentions. Whatever the reason, it makes me sick!
The Grievers, the walls moving, the Cliff they re just elements of a stupid test. We re being used
and manipulated.... They re throwing crazy things at us to see our response, test our will. See if
we ll turn on each other. In the end, they want the survivors for something important. (pg. 305)
However, it turns out, this adventure, is simply a test or a trial, to find the strongest who can
survive the greatest feats. The most successful experiment will work as the model to create a cure
necessary for the survival of the world. In other words, while having good intentions, these Creators
have done sadistic and unjustifiable things in order to get their results. In my opinion, no matter
how good someone s intentions are, lives lost in vain are not

Should Companies Invest in Virtual Mentors?
Turbocharge your career by cultivating multiple channels for information flow
Having a mentor has always helped with professional development and career advancement, but
in today s complex workplace, one mentor won t do. To spark innovation and ideapreneurship,
employees often require relevant information on multiple areas of expertise in real time. That s
why there is a need for multiple mentors and expertise from various domains. The good news is
the rapid expansion of social media inside and outside companies has made it possible for aspiring
leaders to hone their craft from the very best experts in many domains via the internet or
Knowledge Management (KM) systems. They can become your virtual mentors.
That is the finding of a study we conducted (financially supported by The SHRM Foundation) of
HCL Technologies (HCL). The India based IT consulting organization, has over 103,696
employees distributed globally across its very own delivery centers and client sites. HCL
encourages them to use the KM and social collaboration system, internally referred to as Ask HCL,
Edna, arKMedes and MeMe, to help each other and share their expertise.
Today, you can follow and interact with experts on Twitter, blog and Q A sites such as Quora and
GitHub. In addition, organizations are investing time and money on social media tools. Knowledge
sharing networks are not brand new, of course. Communities of practice and BPs virtual networks

Assessing The Population Of 11 Assets
Listed or Pending Contract Assets
Lastly, when reviewing the population of 11 assets in a listed or pending contract status as of
February 28, 2017:
2 of 11 (18%) have days on market of more than 60 days
2 listed assets have a variance (current list price as a percentage of the initial list price) outside of
what RMS believes is an acceptable range
No assets have days on market of more than 100 days
3 assets have reductions of more than 10% since listing
When reviewing days on market together with the historic offers on the property, in our view
many of these have a list price that still appears high, as suggested by the days on market, low
offers (compared to the list price) and/or an ongoing lack of activity.
Based on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because Altisource cannot be directed by RMS to set the list price of an asset, RMS attempts to get
Altisource to recognize assets that are listed too high and to make more appropriate adjustments
when necessary to help generate activity and offers.
RMS continues to review assets where we believe the list price set by Altisource is high relative
to our opinion of market value on those that RMS has reviewed. On listed assets with DOM of
more than 60 days, RMS and Altisource discuss the list price and agent feedback to better
understand the issues and RMS targets these assets for review every 2 weeks.
Another ongoing observation is the frequency of assets in pending contract that fall out because
the buyer fails to return the purchase agreement. This trend continues to be high. Although
Altisource does not provide statistics regarding overall pending contracts that fall out, in our
view, the number is higher than other REO vendors we work with. We believe this likely relates
to the process by which Altisource sells REO assets on the HUBZU website, where there is no
economic penalty to the bidder if they place an offer on a property that is accepted, but
subsequently fails to deliver an executed purchase agreement. In a traditional sale transaction, the
executed purchase agreement and earnest money deposit are the offer and are delivered up front

How Does Marjane Satrapi Use Animation In Persepolis
In the animation Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi uses color in the beginning of the animation
during her present day life and black and white for flashbacks or her past life. The majority of
the animation is the story of Marjane s life in the past so it is in mostly black and white. This is
an interesting way of using color because in a way color is used as a form of timeline, there are
parts of the animation that switch from present to past, so Satrapi just switches from black and
white to color to show time period. I find this concept very appealing and creative. are the growing
tensions of the political climate in Iranin the 70s and 80s, with members of her liberal leaning

Marjane grew up in Iran during the Iran/Iraq war in the 1970s which creates a layer of
complication in her life due to living in a war zone. As a child there was protest going on against
the Shah that was in power at that time. Marjane as a child is a very lively child that is
frustrated by the current events being war and violence. By taking us through her life starting the
flashback at childhood then though teen years we are able to learn about a personal experience
on being an Iranian woman during this time. I did not know that women in Iran during the post
war periods were treated so poorly by men in authority, I also did not know that alcohol was a
forbidden beverage. I learned a lot through this animation by understanding what Marjane went
through in her life. The content of Marjane s life as a teenager was very entertaining to watch.
Marjane went from being so restrained in Iran to smoking pot at punk concerts in Europe. When an
animator is honest in their work it is appealing and easy to watch; which is how I felt about this
animation. Satrapi did not hold back in language, emotion, and details throughout the story of this

These claims on banks can act as money because they are negotiable or repayable on demand, and
hence valued at par. They are effectively transferable by mere delivery, in the case of banknotes, or
by drawing a cheque that the payee may bank or cash. 2. Netting and settlement of payments banks
act as both collection and paying agents for customers, participating in interbank clearing and
settlement systems to collect, present, be presented with, and pay payment instruments. This
enables banks to economies on reserves held for settlement of payments, since inward and outward
payments offset each other. It also enables the offsetting of payment flows between geographical
areas, reducing the cost of settlement between them. 3. Credit intermediation banks borrow and
lend back to back on their own account as middle men. 4. Credit quality improvement banks lend
money to ordinary commercial and personal borrowers (ordinary credit quality), but are high
quality borrowers. The improvement comes from diversification of the bank s assets and capital
which provides a buffer to absorb losses without defaulting on its obligations. However, banknotes
and deposits are generally unsecured; if the bank gets into difficulty and pledges assets as security,
to raise the funding it needs to continue to operate, this puts the note holders and depositors in an
economically subordinated position.

Snap Shot of Religious Structures Through the Ages In ancient times there was always a main
focus or theme to art that was created. Majority of the time this focus was on religion. Religion has
inspired many artists to create great paintings, sculpture, and architecture. In this paper, I will focus
mainly on religious architecture, beginning with Greece, reflecting on Rome, traveling to Tunisia,
and ending in India. Though the structures being covered are different in religion and time period,
they all have one thing in common, they are spaces that create a spiritual experience for an
individual. The Parthenon at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece, built between 447 BCE and 432
BCE to honor the Greek goddess Athena. The Parthenon located in the acropolis is located on the
top of a big hill. This could be a tactic to protect the structure from invaders, however, this is also
symbolic of wanting to be closer to the gods, in this case closer to Athena. This great architectural
piece made of huge slabs of marble creates a sense of grandness only the gods deserved. The
architect included relief sculpture of larger than... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Native American Graves Protection Act Essay
Module 8: Native American Graves Protection Repatriation Act The Native Americans have
been in North America since about 13,000 B.C.E. and even left traces of art in the state of Ohio.
However, those traces have been messed with over the years and an act had to be put in place to
protect their burial mounds in particular. The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation
Act (NAGPRA) was put in place in 1990 to stop people from removing artifacts out of their graves
without meeting certain requirements and have some of them be returned as well. They do not

Other historic and archeological facts can be disturbed by this as well so it is a major issue. An
example of those who would be blamed for the buildings of the mounds in the eighteenth century
would be the Vikings, people from the Lost City of Atlantis, Hindus, or the Lost Tribes of Israel
when it actually turned out to be the Adena Native Americans who did this (O Riley 315).Due to
none of the other Native Americans in the area doing this type of work, it was always thought that
an outside group had done this. However, in the nineteenth century, it became clear that the
Native Americans had done this. An example of a piece that was hard for architects to determine
who the piece was made by was the human effigy pipe (O Riley 315 316). This pipe was dug up

led architects to believing that one of the other groups had made the piece. They were eventually

The Comparison of The Sacrifice of Iphigenia and Iphigenia
In the painting The Sacrifice of Iphigenia, Giovanni Battista Tiepolo uses the people in the painting
to show the suspense of something in their presence, like a disturbance, while in the poem
Iphigenia, Alfred Lord Tennyson uses the same scene to show the suspense is all toward the
sacrifice of Iphigenia. Although in the painting people are fixed on something in the top left corner
of the painting or the cloud holding an animal and a human, there isn t an explanation on what they
were looking at. In the poem you understand the emotion of sadness Iphigenia is expressing, but in

fourth son of twelve children. Part of the family heritage was a strain of epilepsy. One of
Tennyson s brothers was confined to an insane asylum most of his life, another had recurrent

May 11, 2012 Author of disability Nancy Mairs who s a feminist and a cripple, has accomplished a
lot in writing and teaching. Her remarkable personality shows in many of her essays especially in
Disability which was first published in 1987 in the New York Times. In this essay, Nancy Mairs
shows how disabled people are constantly excluded, especially from the media. By giving out facts
and including her personal experiences, Mairs aims for making some changes regarding the

Nancy Mairs starts Disability with self revelations which show through her entire essay, like for
instance: I am a forty three year old woman crippled with multiple sclerosis... ; take it from me...
; I m the advertisers dream... The fact that Nancy Mairs mentions herself a lot makes her essay
lack objectivity. But the reason behind this is that few are the people who can relate to this
topic. So no one really knows what this is about as much as Mairs and all disabled people who
form a minority do. This tells us that the author knows what she s talking about. Since this essay
is addressed to people who don t know much about disability, its purpose is not merely to inform
us about the physical disability itself but also about the psychological effects of the constant
isolation and exclusion of people with disabilities. This makes the essay persuasive rather than
argumentative since the author only mentioned her attitude towards this subject. But what a
better way to do it than having a person with disability talk about his/her personal experiences?
Persuading people of Mairs point of view which is that disabled people should be included in the
daily activities couldn t be done by just stating objective facts. This kind of persuasion needs
examples. To prove that disabled people are unfairly treated, Nancy Mairs gives an example of a
crippled women who was stopped from doing what she wanted to do, though she was still

The Crusades
The precondition for discovering America consisted of events and circumstances occurring over
centuries altering the social, political, economic, and technological landscape of the world.
Events dating back as far as the crusades provided a global exchange of ideas and technology,
which overtime provided the tools necessary to discover the New World. Trade was essential to
global connectivity, growth within a nation, economic stability, and acquiring knowledge. The
Europeans were able to take full advantage of the existing trade networks that ran across
AfroEurasia as well as the Indian Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. These trade routes provided new
resources, luxury goods, and an exchange of cultural as well as technological ideas. Additionally,
the Crusades opened up trade routes with the east, aiding the west in importing eastern luxury

Social And Economical Factors On Youth Essay
I have chosen to research into the social and economical factors that may influence a youth s
likelihood to engage in delinquency as I believe that understanding the factors underpinning youth
offending may help to reduce youth crime levels, as preventive measures can be aimed at the
distinct root causes recognised. I have chosen to particularly look at the link between the social
factor of education in terms of low school attainment and the wider effect on the economy through
looking at youth unemployment and offending. I believe these social and economical factors are
inextricably linked therefore I hypothesise that low school attainment leads to increases in youth
crimelevels due to youths not acquiring the necessary skills to allow a successful entrance to the
labour market.
Methodology:
In carrying out this literature review I have engaged in secondary research in order to provide me
with significant qualitative and quantitative data on this given topic. I collected a range of sources
through library searches where I aimed to research previous studies through the use of the internet
to access online resources, books and journals. Upon doing so I found a few books that
encompassed the social and economical factors I specifically chose to review although I found
many websites that had information on the social economical factors that may affect delinquency.
Findings:

All sources reviewed agreed that there is a correlation

In the beginning of the book, Siddhartha has a sudden realization that the traditional teachings of
the Brahmins does not fulfill or help him in his quest for enlightenment, He had begun to surmise
that his venerable father and his other teachers, that these wise Brahmins had already conveyed the
majority and the best part of their wisdom, that they had already poured out their plenty into his

heart was not stilled (6 7). Despite his upbringings, he begins to stray away from the traditions and
the expectations that both society and his father has for him. As a Brahmin, Siddharthais part of a
caste that is highly prestigious in the Hindu society and they are known for their intellect.
Siddhartha was expected to become a priest and the follow the footsteps of his honorable father.
However, he begins to nurture his own feelings which were not satisfied. The traditional teachings
of the Brahmins seem so rigid and practiced. His feelings are analogous to a vessel , which is not

Hate And Love, And American Values In America
America is a driven nation in which everyone has different motivators which produce varied results
in society and the lives of the Americans. Hate and love, as well as selfishness and selflessness are
the primary motivators of individuals as they cause the most amount of passion and debate. Morals
will impact these values and cause them to change to match the situation along with the feelings of
the individual. At times, these values may contradict each other, such as hate and loveor selfishness
versus selflessness, yet these contradictions are necessary for its inverse to exist. Without hate,
love would not exist. Selfless actions could not be recognized if not for selfish actions. The effect
morals have on the individual would go unobserved if there was not a range of beliefs. Although its
values can contradict one another, American values are what drives America to the success that it
praises itself for.
Hate and love are seen as antonyms when in reality the two ideas come in a pair. In order to
hate, one must have known love before for as it is impossible to hate something without caring
about it in some form. It is very easy for love to develop into hate, and vice versa. Hate will lead
to exclusion and bad choices while love will unify and bind the nation together, making it stronger.
Although an individual s or a nation s goal may be for peace, the result can be hatred if proper

The Steam Engine ( Steam Power )
The Steam Engine
The industrial revolution was a period in history that brought about numerous mechanical
advances that allowed the use of much less manual labor. One of those mechanical advances
was steam power. Steam power was not a new concept to the people of the world; in fact, steam
power dates all the way back to Alexander the Great in the first century, where he designed a
steam powered spinning sphere called an Aeolipile. (5 par 25) However, in the late 18th and
early 19th centuries they sought out to perfect the use of steam in everyday life. The ultimate
goal was to use steam power so the public could rely less on manual labor and let the machines
do the work for them. Steam power was greatly utilized in everyday life in order to ease the
workload for the workers. Thomas Savery was the first person to design an engine from steam that
would later be changed and improved by James Watt for better efficiency. The steam enginewas
changed greatly for a higher speed engine that was installed in locomotives and boats pioneered by
Richard Trevithick. The mining process was changed greatly with the introduction of steam power
and the steam engine.
Steam engines were greatly utilized in mining. The first steam engine produced by Thomas
Savery called The Miner s Friend; was used to pump water from the depths of the mine to the
surface of the land. The Miner s Friend used the steam pressure to force the water from the mine up
and discharge it on land. However, his invention

When Was Toilet Paper Invented
Toilet paper; we use it every day. Most people don t think about who or how toilet paper was
invented. We get distracted by the soft feeling of the tissue wiping our waste. One of these people
who used the invention is possibly James Buchanan, the 15th president of the United States. But
thanks to the man who gave us a smile on our faces, Joseph Gayetty. Although he did not invent
toilet paper for wastes, he did have a role in making it into what it is today. Now, because of him
and companies like Charmin s, toilet papers has the best place to be rolled in, the bathroom. Toilet
paper helps people prevent hemorrhoids, warm waste sticking your butt together, and stress.

Also, there would be no satisfaction without it, which would make us miss out in all it had to offer.
To begin with my first reason, we can use these to prevent hemorrhoids. We use this inventionto
absorb blood from our butts. This idea was made by the creator of toilet paper, Joseph Gayetty.
We always put a lot of pressure to get all the waste out; but when putting too much pressure can
harm your body and get blood stains on your pants. Absorbing the blood with toilet paper can
prevent blood stains on rears, but it s very painful and disgusting. Moving around can feel very

Pros And Cons Of Bug Out Bag
Bug Out Bag Debate: Tarp or Tent for Emergency Shelter
A bug out bag is designed for emergencies, so some inconvenience is to be expected.
When on a family outing you can carry a six or eight person cabin tent in the back of your vehicle.
Weight is not a large factor when you can pack your supplies in the cargo space of an SUV or
pickup.
When packing supplies on your back however, weight can be a deciding factor. What you think
you can carry on your back, and what you can actually carry, are two different things. Twenty
minutes hiking up and down the sidewalk with 30 to 50 pounds strapped on does not mean you
can perform the same way physically while in a crisis when walking over rough and uneven terrain
for hours at a time.
Tents
Most backpacking tents are designed for 1 to 2 people. A one person tentallows approximately 15
square feet of sleeping space. Keep in mind you will have gear as well, so it will be cramped. The
weight can be anywhere from 3 to 6 pounds depending on the model and actual size. ... Show more

How Are Hurricanes Formed
Recently we have had many powerful hurricanes that have left cities in shambles, whole countries
destroyed, and many dead or injured. Many know that hurricanes are sometimes extremely
dangerous especially with current climate change, but what many don t know is just how dangerous
can they be. Which led me to my question how are they formed?
Hurricanes begin to be formed in the ocean, from nearby areas, with high air pressure, reach into
the areas with lower air pressure. One the different air pressures combine, the air becomes warm,
causing it to rise. When it is rising, the nearby air swirls around the area left behind by the air that

Organizational Analysis
How an organization is structured has enormous consequences not only for the success of its
business but, also, for the success of its employees.
Though it is obvious why understanding organizations is critical to business success, nevertheless
it is worthwhile to review these reasons. The structure of a firm either enhances or hinders
efficiency and productivity. In other words, how information flows and to whom, whether and how
many parts of the work process is redundant, how clear and precise is the reporting structure, if and
how new ideas and products are promoted these and many more issues are obvious consequences of
structure and profoundly affect the success of the business.

Information systems are state of the art. The recipients of this information have to be able to act
quickly to stay on top. Thus, they have to be very team centered (to analyze the information and to
translate it into new products and services), and they have to have a great deal of leeway with
respect to decision making and authority (to respond promptly to customer needs).
A growing and successful construction company prided itself on building expensive homes geared
to client needs and adaptable to client wants. However, client requirements were initially not
addressed in depth, methods to solicit this information were not developed (e.g., the use of software
that would enable clients to imagine being inside the house as it was being built), contact was
initiated only when another payment was due, and only the owner could fix the final price of the
house. The net result was that the owner, in effect, convinced buyers what they should want,
thereby dramatically increasing the number of client initiated changes as the clients along the way
became clearer about what they wanted.
Information about customer initiated changes was frequently communicated incorrectly or late to
the field, even more increasing construction costs due to the need to undo work that had been
already completed. Sales people were pre empted at closing regarding sales price, making for rapid

A Journey Of A Month Without Chocolate Essay
Introduction I would like to take you on a journey of a month without chocolate. This may
sound trivial, but it was more impactful than I could have imagined. We will cross several
intersections along the way. Join me as I tell of my experience, including symptoms of
withdrawal, cravings, and temptations. At the crossroads of Expectancies, we will discuss why
I chose to abstain from chocolate, what supports I relied on, and what I expected them to
provide. I will share what motivated me to change, and my expectation of success or failure.
Finally, I will tell you about anything that I anticipated would impede my success. Once we
cross over Expectancies we will travel down the road to Reflections where we will look back on
my experience, highlighting my struggles, successes, insights, and setbacks. I will share with
you how I believed my own biological programming influenced me, what psychological effects I
experienced, and the impact the world around me had on my journey. We will then proceed to
the intersection of Education where I will tell you what I learned about myself, relapse, relapse
prevention, behavior and how my attitude changed. I will share with you how my motivation
changed over the abstinence period. I will identify triggers and what I decide I would do to handle
them in the future. As we come to the end of our journey I will explore what I have learned about

Network architecture is the configuration of an interchanges system. It is a structure for the

Architecture gives the subtle element outline of a system. It is utilized to arrange all the system

Teens And The Media Essay
Portrayal of Teens in the Media
The media, that giant intimidating creation has taken the stereotypes of teens, the way people
view teens, and the way we view ourselves, and has turned it into a delusional monster. The media
at this point in time portrays teenagers as generally bad. Well to be honest, not generally bad, but
mostly horrible. We are seen as the cause for alarmand trouble in society. The media portrays us as
manic delinquents with no solid past and no concrete future.
The main points of teenagers that are warped into a lie are appearance and generalization of
actions. The media spreads the idea that just because some teens choose to get more piercing done,

Teenagers are seen as immature and with no future. But are we not more mature than our adult role
models by not generalizing about them?
I admit that I personally know a few people that have made some choices that have resulted in
jail sentences and other consequences. Just because there are a few teenagers like that does not
mean that we are all alike in that aspect. Another misconception about teenagers is that the inner
city or black teens are involved in gangs. This is one of the lowest and cheapest
misinterpretations. Generalizing by race and where people live (and in turn generalizing because
of social class) makes me sick. I see this as a pitiful portrayal and a complete lie.
The media also portrays teens as spending their time doing nothing. They put us in shows and in
commercials in groups of three or four, complete with the previously discussed tattoos and loose
pants, just sitting around doing nothing. They send the message across that we are basically just a
quot;crime waiting to happen. quot; Which is not the case. About 98% of the teens I know
responsibly arrange and map out their plans. Very few of them sit around with no job waiting to do
something wrong. Another part of this misinterpretation is the attitude of teenagers in general. The
media portrays general teenage attitude (which is portrayed as hating all forms of authority and not
wanting to listen to anyone) as going hand in hand with crime and delinquency.

Antigone or Creon as the Tragic Hero in Antigone Essay
A tragic hero is a character in a play that is known for being dignified but has a flaw that assists in
his or her downfall. Antigone is a Greek tragic piece written by Sophocles. In the theatrical
production the use of power and morality versus law is evident. The promotion to the conflict was
that Creoncreated a law in which enabled Polynieces, Antigone s brother, to be buried in the
proper way. As it is the way of the gods Antigone found it fit to bury her brother causing her to
disobey the law of Thebes. Both Antigone and Creon, the main characters, could represent a tragic
hero. However Creon is more eligible for being the tragic hero because he fits the definition.

moral her act was. Bring her [Antigone] out! Let her die before his eyes... (Scene 3, 130). This
quotes shows that Creon took his position as king seriously to the point where in he was willing
to sacrifice the feelings of his own son. He was willing to be the cause of son s destruction just
to prove that he is the king and always right. I will go... I buried her, I will set her free (scene 5,

relationship with his son to prove that he was the leader of Thebes. Creon says another quote
which shows his loyalty to his kingdom, I call to God to witness that if I saw my country headed
for ruin, I should not be afraid to speak out plainly, (Sophocles, scene 1,24 26). It shows his strong
sense of leadership which catches up with him in the end causing destruction.
Tragic heroes have identifiable flaws which cause their destruction. In this situation Creon s major
flaw was that he was self centered, and never listened he thought he was always right. Haemon
points out that Creon needs to stop being narrow minded and stubborn, ...Not far off when you

According to the National Center for Assisted Living, (2001) assisted living facilities are typically
stand alone facilities, but can often be a part of another facility within the long term continuum of
care such as a nursing home, senior housing complex, retirement community, or independent
living apartments. Assisted living facilities are different in appearance than nursing homes and
other facilities in that they tend to offer a more home like environment. These residences may be
condominiums, a residential house, or apartments with personalized decorations and room
layouts. They typically offer common areas for dining and activities. Approximately half of ALF

Assisted living facilities offer different levels of care depending on the amount of assistance the

for many different reasons. Firstly, they are overall more versatile and practical. Second, teachers

Finally, tablets help reduce clutter and extra papers lying around in a student s folder. According to

textbooks in one slim tablet. This means that there won t be as much stress on the students from
lugging a pounds upon pounds of books around, along with not having to stop at their locker for
every class. Teachers can customize student learning using tablets with hundreds of educational
apps designed for iPad and Android devices (Klindt). Yet another issue is that textbooks become
outdated quickly, making the students fall behind in their education. The tablet s aforementioned
ability to get information practically at your every whim allows for teachers to create lesson plans
that fit their teaching style ( Foreign Language ). If teachers can create individualized lessons, they

Surgical Anatomy
Surgical anatomy of the mandible
The mandible is a U shaped bone that supports the lower teeth and makes up the lower facial
skeleton. It has no bony attachments to the skull. It is suspended below the maxilla by muscles,
ligaments, and other soft tissues, which therefore provide the mobility necessary to function with
the maxilla. The superior aspect of the arch shaped mandible consists of the alveolar process and
the teeth. The body of the mandible extends posteroinferiorly to form the mandibular angle and
posterosuperiorly to form the ascending ramus. A vertical plate of bonethat extends upward as two
processes forms the ascending ramus of the mandible. The anterior of these is the coronoid process;
the posterior is the condyle.(13)

Power Struggle Between Management And Workers In The 19th...
The power struggle between management and workers in the nineteenth century affected all parts
of the industrial growth happening in the urban areas. As the Industrial Workers of the World
worked to expand the workers power over industrial production, the Management Program worked
just has hard to eradicate any workman power and maintain their own form of control. The rising
industrial capitalismin the country affected people s time, work, principles, and the old traditions
they held onto before this urban growth. The functional autonomy of the craftsman, the union work
rule, and the mutual support of diverse trades in rule enforcement and sympathetic strikes are the
three stages of development, which express the constant struggle during the industrial life of the
nineteenth century. Knowledge and control are two qualities of controlling industrial production.
The autonomous craftsman maintained their grip on power during this time through their expertise
and the self direction. None of us ever went to school and learned the chemistry of it form the
books, said James J. Davis (11). These craftsmen grew up with... Show more content on

Strikes became an increasingly unionized. These strikes mainly dealt with wage drops and to
enforce the prior rules set up. The growth of union power led to the protection of the worker and
would force the hand of employers to cooperate. However, strike numbers fluctuated throughout the
years. The use of new management styles and technology affected work tremendously. This text
brought into picture of how this scientific management threatened the craftsmen s fundamental
working styles and prior known traditions. The American industrial world was affected by new
wages, standard rates, union rules, and the ethical changes taking place. This style of urban life will
continue to affect the new workman class. The past will be forever changed, and the conflict will

Essay On Auschwitz Concentration Camp
Firstname Lastname Ms. Glenn A3 13 November 2015 The Harsh Treatment of Prisoners in
Auschwitz Concentration Camp Imagine being stuck in an old, damp building filled with
hundreds of people. You are starving; you haven t had a meal in days. Beaten and torn by the
harsh punishments of the Nazi SS, you are scared. Any second now you can be shot or hit by a
Nazi soldier. A soldier comes...what fate does he bring you? This was the daily life of a Jew in
Auschwitz; controlled by fear and abused by the Nazi SS. They live in such horrendous
conditions in which they can call hell. Auschwitz was an atrocious place with more horrors than
one can imagine. The prisoners were fed very little and were greatly over worked. The labor was

Auschwitz had a very strict schedule that all prisoners were forced to follow otherwise they
would be punished. The prisoners were woken up at 4:00 A.M. Upon being woken up they were
to make their beds and immediately go to the sanitation facility. There they were given a couple
of minutes to wash up before they were to go to breakfast. After breakfast the prisoners attended
roll call. Next, they joined their work teams and worked until the lunch break. After the lunch
break they were to report to the evening roll call. And finally, the prisoners went to eat dinner.
(Levi, 1996) In addition to the strict schedule, Auschwitz had terrible living conditions for the
prisoners. Over 700 people were forced to live together in the old brick barracks. These barracks
lacked insulation or heating, were very damp with leaky roofs, and were infested with rats and
other rodents. (Editors of the Jewish Virtual Library, 2015) However, prisoner accommodations
was not the worst part of Auschwitz. The prisoners were fed 3 meals every day, but they were fed
an extremely small amount, barely getting enough energy to last through the whole day. Those who
were given more physically demanding labor were fed approximately 1700 calories per

An In-Depth Analysis Of Gender Issues In Cosmopolitan...
Introduction
Traditionally gender has been viewed as a simple binary category with certain dichotomies that exist
between the masculine and feminine. The categorization is borne from the belief that because men
and women are biologically different that is, different sexes, there will be a natural difference in the
way they behave within the society (language use being an important aspect of this behavior).
There is little evidence that this belief is based on anything other than stereotyping. Just by virtue
that women and men are biologically different, the society believes that the men and women should
behave different also and that each should be treated differently. The natural belief that men and
women are different has led to the rise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An essential aspect of this issue of Cosmopolitan is that its head editor was a woman, Helen Gurley
Brown, which indicates a female vision in the production of this magazine (Gurley Brown 1965).
Nonetheless, all the other important positions for the magazine, from the president of Hearst
Magazines, Richard E. Deems, to the head of Fiction, William Carrington Guy, were all men
(Gurley Brown 1965). This information paints an interesting picture, because of Gurley Brown s
position at the helm while valuable, still had to accommodate these other male visions on the
magazine. The rest of the positions are mostly filled by women, Fashion and Features,
Merchandising, Copy, Beauty, Staff Manager, and almost all of the Editorial Staff (Gurley Brown
1965). In this sense, Cosmopolitan was slowly turning not only in a women s magazine but in a

Summary Of Made In Los Angeles
Made in Los Angeles The remarkable story of Made in L.A is about three immigrants from
Latina, worked in a garment sweatshop company in Los Angeles. Life in the workplace was not
smooth as challenges from the employer affected them leading them to campaign against the
act. The story illuminates the power of unity, the courage it takes to let known of once rights
and about immigration (Encore Broadcast n.p). This paper seeks to describe the problems in
the documentary and the characters. It will also enlighten on the characters stories and how the
stories amplify the documentary plot and social issues. The paper will even expound on the
theme of conflict to analyze the documentary using the theoretical perspective. The documentary
problem in the story was that the employer was harsh, ruthless and did not give the workers a
conducive environment as they were overworked and still paid low wages below the minimum
and thus the workers merely survived (Encore Broadcast, n.p). The employer could not contend
to overtime and unpaid wages which was a significant problem facing the employees. It was
problematic that the workers worked for 10 14 hours without being given breaks for either
eating or even going to the bathroom which had poor ventilation. Later on, after years of meager
salaries, unpaid minimum and overtime wages and also domestic abuse, Maura Colorado,
Maria Pineda and Lupe Hernandez come together in unison together with other employees in
their struggle and campaigning for negotiable working environment and condition and also for
self empowerment which was a battle against their employer. The Latinos workers were
motivated by the three women and to the extent of the workers announcing a lawsuit for the
garment company which was a problem for the company as its reputation become known to the
public. On the character stories, Lupe Hernandez was born in Mexico City and left at the age of
17. She is five foot tall, and people would make fun of her height, and she defended herself. Lupe
became a fighter at an early age, and no one could afford to mess with her. She learned survival
skills at an early age since she started working in Los Angeles garment factories. She worked in the

Selecting The Appropriate Research Methods
3. Methodology When selecting the appropriate research methods, it was important for me to
carefully consider the approaches that would best fit my research in order to reach meaningful
conclusions. I decided to choose approaches that I see fit around my research topic and would
ensure I achieve the results to come out of my research. As (Walker, 1985, p.46) advocates that Just
as recipes are not simply things that are done to food, but become concepts within which method
and substance are compounded. Methods in research can become an intrinsic part of the project.
The methods we choose are, in this sense, there to be tested, just as much as the substantive
hypothesis . This claims that the methods that are chosen to embark on an area of research are a
vital part of the project and need to be taken into account just as much as the question that the
methods are used to answer it. Therefore, the two approaches I chose to shape my research were a
case studyand appreciative inquiry to allow me to collect the data I had selected which was the
following; questionnaires, interviews and observations.
3.1 Case Study
I have chosen to approach my research by using a case study approach which builds up a rich
picture of a case using different kinds of data collection and gathering the views, perceptions and
ideas of diverse individuals relating to the case. (Yin, 2009, p.15) states The case study method is
most likely to be appropriate for how and why questions . This supports

Gay Fm History
First broadcast at midnight on Sunday 2nd September 1990, Gay FM began life after the board
of 4CCR accepted a 3 page submission for the programme, including 100 signatures in support, and
an example of the gay news items to be used in the show.
Arriving in Cairns from Sydney a few weeks before, with some experience presenting Sydney s
Wild G.A.L.S. (Gay and Lesbian Show), Terry Barrie put together the submission and became host
of the show.
Allocated a challenging time slot, starting at midnight Sunday, the show filled two hours, though
after 5 successful years, in 1995 the board agreed to a 3 hour show at the more accessible time of
9 PM. In that same year, 4CCR expanded its broadcasting capacity north to Port Douglas, south to

Dale, Trevor, Jon, Frank Pagram, Brendan and Ben Woodward all served as presenters and
introduced special guests such as Vicky V, Jeanne Little, Bernard King, Beryl and Miss Kate.
In April 2000, Ben Woodward became the main presenter and introduced the notorious Bad Taste
format with Brendon Files playing Queen Bea, the pair played lots of tacky eighties and nineties
music, read silly articles from Smash Hits magazine, and referred constantly to the iconic
television shows of the time, with Melrose Place and Prisoner: Cell Block H receiving a lot of
attention. With occasional music specials, and the banter bouncing back and forth between the two
presenters, the new light hearted approach won many fans, and much of the show ended up taken
up by callers, some of whom became regular characters in the fun format.
Contributing immensely to bringing the community together, Tropical Gay FM, unfortunately
ceased broadcast in 2004, but Cairns now enjoys Gay Radio again with Andrew Wheatland,

database recovery should a catastrophic event occur. 6. The parameter assignment maxinstances

Summary Of The Nobel Lecture By Toni Morrison
In the world, there are about 6909 different languages being spoken. Millions of people are
speaking those languages all around the globe, but how many of them are actually speaking?
Language is not just about communication with words. Toni Morrison elaborates more on that idea
in her speech the Nobel Lecture. Toni s writing illustrates her beliefs about languageand the deeper
meaning of it. She explains that language should Permit new knowledge or encourage the mutual
exchange of ideas (Morrison). She believes that America is not achieving those ideas for language
but in fact is doing the opposite. American people do not know the meaning and effect of language
and because of that, true language is dying. In the speech, the Nobel Lecture, by Toni Morrison, the
author narrates repetition and connotationin order to emphasize and elaborate ideas and purposes of
language , ultimately exposing her beliefs about language.
In the speech, the word dying and other synonyms like dead are repeated multiple times. We
know that the the bird mentioned in the story is a metaphor for representing language because
Morrison says the heart of such language is languishing, or perhaps not beating at all if the bird
is already dead . That sentence connects how the bird and language are correlated in the speech.
So the reader can infer from the rest of the speech so when she says is the bird dead, she is really
saying is the language dead. Morrison believes that due to the examples of

Federal Emergency Management Agency System
Allison Taggart Federal Emergency Management Agency SEMT335 E1WW January 31, 2015
Federal Emergency Management Agency Creation The Federal Emergency Management
Agency can be traced back to the Congressional Act of 1803. This act was the result of an
extensive fire in a New Hampshire town needing assistance, and is generally considered to be
the first piece of disaster legislation (About the Agency, 2014). Over the next century or so,
disaster legislation was put to use in response to natural disasters including hurricanes,
earthquakes, floods, tornados, etc. approximately 100 times. The Disaster Relief Act of 1950
gave the President authority to issue disaster declarations that allowed Federal agencies to
provide direct assistance to State and local governments (IS 230, 2014). This creation of
legislation led to a complex system of agencies, programs, policies which often overlapped
between state and local governments. Because of this, the National Governor s Association
asked President Carter to centralize federal emergency functions. FEMA was signed into law on
April 1, 1979 by President Carter through Executive Order 12127 (IS 230, 2014). However,
during the 1980 s there were not many large scale disasters in which the agency needed to respond
and it became a quiet administrative department. Then, in 1992 Hurricane Andrew, a category 5
hurricane, struck Florida leaving thousands of citizens without food or water. Local agencies had to
wait five days

Evaluation Of A Likert Patient Preference Questionnaire Essay
As a result of the activities performed above, the following products were produced. Staff
established a Likert patient preference questionnaire (See Fig. 3 in Appendix). Also, each Likert
item was scaled. Barriers to testing were identified to include on the Likert questionnaire.
Dependent variables identified are patient preference before and after the procedure (de
Wijkerslooth et al., 2010; Lin et al., 2012); pain level, recovery monitoring, burden, differences
in procedural time and recovery time (Boellard, van der Paardt, Eberl, Hollmann, Stoker, 2011).
Independent variables included age, sex, ethnicity, region/center (Boellard et al., 2011). The
study would involve four groups: Group 1: Preference OC list with the willingness to undergo
CTC (1875 subjects); Group 2: Preference OC list not willing to undergo CTC (1875 subjects);
Group 3: Preference CTC list with the willingness to undergo OC (1875 subjects); Group 4:
Preference CTC list not willing to undergo OC (1875 subjects). Finally, a comprehensive report
and images of the intestines and surround organs were devised for CT colonography and
colonoscopy. By assessing pre Likert questionnaires, the staff could provide the necessary
environment to make patients feel comfortable. By evaluating the post Likert questionnaires, staff
will be able to cater to the patient s needs better because they can truly see which screening
procedure the patient is most comfortable with. To evaluate specific Likert items, the

  • 2. Essay On Becoming A Recording Engineer George Martin was the Beatles recording engineer during their 8 year career. George was the man who gave life to much of the beatles music. He recorded them, mixed them, and mastered them. He floated his own ideas into the music while simultaneously keeping it theirs. He is often considered the fifth beatle due to his role in their music, as he rightly should. The career of a recording engineer is one where a person can be creative and exercise his passion for music. In the Recording Engineers line of work, there are two forms of employment. You can either work in a large studio or work out of your home. Working in a Studio has its pros as well as its cons just like working at home does. A studio job will mean you will have more work than your self employed counterpart and more Engineers to work with. This is due to the fact that if the studio you are working for is a reputable studio, then you will receive the fruits of said reputation. Though, Working in a studio means you will work full time, or in some cases overtime, to meet a deadline. Most will also work on holidays and weekends for the same reason. A self employed Engineer will often set his own hours, but work less frequently. When they work, it is most often out of their own home studio. This is why most self employed engineers... However, a constitutional monarchy would provide a greater representation and opportunity for the subjects of France moving forward. Migrating to a more democratic government through a constitutional monarchy would better suit the people because it would grant the subjects more political power while limiting the power of the King, and creating an equitable administration that would abolish the caste system. Allowing this change created a form of accountability in regards to the political power of the King to ensure that no ruler could abuse it. • 4. Alex Rodriguez Broke Into Spring Camp With The Seattle... In 1994, an 18 year old kid from Miami named Alex Rodriguez broke into spring camp with the Seattle Mariners in an attempt to make the team. After almost immediately stepping into a Major League baseball field he became a household name. Within two years, he was an All Star. Within five, a regular 40 homer player. By the turn of the century, many were already putting him into the Hall of Fame discussion. On August 12, 2016, Rodriguez played what will be his final game as a New York Yankee after an incredible 12 years in New York. Considering the 41 year old s lack of playing time and declining production after a resurgent effort in 2015, this may very well be the end of the A Rod era entirely. And for A Rod, he was prepared to leave the game he fell in love with as a child. I do want to be remembered as someone who was madly in love with the game of baseball, someone who loves it at every level, Rodriguez said. Someone who loves to learn it, play it, teach it, coach it. And also, I m going to be hopefully remembered as someone who tripped and fell a lot, but someone that kept getting up. Rodriguez has led a very controversial 22 year baseball career. His lowest moment being when he was infamously suspended for the entire 2014 season following the Biogenesis investigation. The longest suspension ever served in Major League Baseball history. But his story did not end there. In his 2015 campaign, in an attempt to redeem himself and earn back the love from the fans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This science fiction novel is written as a form of dystopian literature. This novel is the first of The Maze Runner Series, which consists of two additional novels, The Scorch Trials and The Death Cure. Some of the main characters include, Teresa, Chuck, Minho, Alby, and Newt, who all guide Thomas, the protagonist, in their quest to escape the Glade. The most successful experiment will work as the model to create a cure necessary for the survival of the world. Turbocharge your career by cultivating multiple channels for information flow Having a mentor has always helped with professional development and career advancement, but in today s complex workplace, one mentor won t do. To spark innovation and ideapreneurship, employees often require relevant information on multiple areas of expertise in real time. That s why there is a need for multiple mentors and expertise from various domains. The good news is the rapid expansion of social media inside and outside companies has made it possible for aspiring leaders to hone their craft from the very best experts in many domains via the internet or Knowledge Management (KM) systems. They can become your virtual mentors. That is the finding of a study we conducted (financially supported by The SHRM Foundation) of HCL Technologies (HCL). The India based IT consulting organization, has over 103,696 employees distributed globally across its very own delivery centers and client sites. HCL encourages them to use the KM and social collaboration system, internally referred to as Ask HCL, Edna, arKMedes and MeMe, to help each other and share their expertise. Because Altisource cannot be directed by RMS to set the list price of an asset, RMS attempts to get Altisource to recognize assets that are listed too high and to make more appropriate adjustments when necessary to help generate activity and offers. RMS continues to review assets where we believe the list price set by Altisource is high relative to our opinion of market value on those that RMS has reviewed. On listed assets with DOM of more than 60 days, RMS and Altisource discuss the list price and agent feedback to better understand the issues and RMS targets these assets for review every 2 weeks. Another ongoing observation is the frequency of assets in pending contract that fall out because the buyer fails to return the purchase agreement. This trend continues to be high. Although Altisource does not provide statistics regarding overall pending contracts that fall out, in our view, the number is higher than other REO vendors we work with. We believe this likely relates to the process by which Altisource sells REO assets on the HUBZU website, where there is no economic penalty to the bidder if they place an offer on a property that is accepted, but subsequently fails to deliver an executed purchase agreement. • 8. How Does Marjane Satrapi Use Animation In Persepolis In the animation Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi uses color in the beginning of the animation during her present day life and black and white for flashbacks or her past life. The majority of the animation is the story of Marjane s life in the past so it is in mostly black and white. This is an interesting way of using color because in a way color is used as a form of timeline, there are parts of the animation that switch from present to past, so Satrapi just switches from black and white to color to show time period. By taking us through her life starting the flashback at childhood then though teen years we are able to learn about a personal experience on being an Iranian woman during this time. I learned a lot through this animation by understanding what Marjane went through in her life. The content of Marjane s life as a teenager was very entertaining to watch. Marjane went from being so restrained in Iran to smoking pot at punk concerts in Europe. Majority of the time this focus was on religion. Religion has inspired many artists to create great paintings, sculpture, and architecture. In this paper, I will focus mainly on religious architecture, beginning with Greece, reflecting on Rome, traveling to Tunisia, and ending in India. Though the structures being covered are different in religion and time period, they all have one thing in common, they are spaces that create a spiritual experience for an individual. The Parthenon at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece, built between 447 BCE and 432 BCE to honor the Greek goddess Athena. The Parthenon located in the acropolis is located on the top of a big hill. This could be a tactic to protect the structure from invaders, however, this is also symbolic of wanting to be closer to the gods, in this case closer to Athena. However, those traces have been messed with over the years and an act had to be put in place to protect their burial mounds in particular. The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) was put in place in 1990 to stop people from removing artifacts out of their graves without meeting certain requirements and have some of them be returned as well. Her remarkable personality shows in many of her essays especially in Disability which was first published in 1987 in the New York Times. In this essay, Nancy Mairs shows how disabled people are constantly excluded, especially from the media. By giving out facts and including her personal experiences, Mairs aims for making some changes regarding the relationship between the media and people with disabilities. Nancy Mairs starts Disability with self revelations which show through her entire essay, like for instance: I am a forty three year old woman crippled with multiple sclerosis... ; take it from me... ; I m the advertisers dream... The fact that Nancy Mairs mentions herself a lot makes her essay lack objectivity. But the reason behind this is that few are the people who can relate to this topic. So no one really knows what this is about as much as Mairs and all disabled people who form a minority do. This tells us that the author knows what she s talking about. Since this essay is addressed to people who don t know much about disability, its purpose is not merely to inform us about the physical disability itself but also about the psychological effects of the constant isolation and exclusion of people with disabilities. This makes the essay persuasive rather than argumentative since the author only mentioned her attitude towards this subject. But what a better way to do it than having a person with disability talk about his/her personal experiences? Persuading people of Mairs point of view which is that disabled people should be included in the daily activities couldn t be done by just stating objective facts. This kind of persuasion needs examples. To prove that disabled people are unfairly treated, Nancy Mairs gives an example of a crippled women who was stopped from doing what she wanted to do, though she was still physically able to do ... • 19. Social And Economical Factors On Youth Essay I have chosen to research into the social and economical factors that may influence a youth s likelihood to engage in delinquency as I believe that understanding the factors underpinning youth offending may help to reduce youth crime levels, as preventive measures can be aimed at the distinct root causes recognised. I have chosen to particularly look at the link between the social factor of education in terms of low school attainment and the wider effect on the economy through looking at youth unemployment and offending. I believe these social and economical factors are inextricably linked therefore I hypothesise that low school attainment leads to increases in youth crimelevels due to youths not acquiring the necessary skills to allow a successful entrance to the labour market. Methodology: In carrying out this literature review I have engaged in secondary research in order to provide me with significant qualitative and quantitative data on this given topic. I collected a range of sources through library searches where I aimed to research previous studies through the use of the internet to access online resources, books and journals. Upon doing so I found a few books that encompassed the social and economical factors I specifically chose to review although I found many websites that had information on the social economical factors that may affect delinquency. • 21. Hate And Love, And American Values In America America is a driven nation in which everyone has different motivators which produce varied results in society and the lives of the Americans. Hate and love, as well as selfishness and selflessness are the primary motivators of individuals as they cause the most amount of passion and debate. Morals will impact these values and cause them to change to match the situation along with the feelings of the individual. At times, these values may contradict each other, such as hate and loveor selfishness versus selflessness, yet these contradictions are necessary for its inverse to exist. Without hate, love would not exist. Selfless actions could not be recognized if not for selfish actions. The effect morals have on the individual would go unobserved if there was not a range of beliefs. Although its values can contradict one another, American values are what drives America to the success that it praises itself for. Hate and love are seen as antonyms when in reality the two ideas come in a pair. In order to hate, one must have known love before for as it is impossible to hate something without caring about it in some form. It is very easy for love to develop into hate, and vice versa. Hate will lead to exclusion and bad choices while love will unify and bind the nation together, making it stronger. • 22. The Steam Engine ( Steam Power ) The Steam Engine The industrial revolution was a period in history that brought about numerous mechanical advances that allowed the use of much less manual labor. One of those mechanical advances was steam power. Steam power was not a new concept to the people of the world; in fact, steam power dates all the way back to Alexander the Great in the first century, where he designed a steam powered spinning sphere called an Aeolipile. (5 par 25) However, in the late 18th and early 19th centuries they sought out to perfect the use of steam in everyday life. The ultimate goal was to use steam power so the public could rely less on manual labor and let the machines do the work for them. Steam power was greatly utilized in everyday life in order to ease the workload for the workers. Thomas Savery was the first person to design an engine from steam that would later be changed and improved by James Watt for better efficiency. The steam enginewas changed greatly for a higher speed engine that was installed in locomotives and boats pioneered by Richard Trevithick. The mining process was changed greatly with the introduction of steam power and the steam engine. Steam engines were greatly utilized in mining. The first steam engine produced by Thomas Savery called The Miner s Friend; was used to pump water from the depths of the mine to the surface of the land. (Code of Maryland regulations) According to the National Center for Assisted Living, (2001) assisted living facilities are typically stand alone facilities, but can often be a part of another facility within the long term continuum of care such as a nursing home, senior housing complex, retirement community, or independent living apartments. Assisted living facilities are different in appearance than nursing homes and other facilities in that they tend to offer a more home like environment. These residences may be condominiums, a residential house, or apartments with personalized decorations and room layouts. They typically offer common areas for dining and activities. Approximately half of ALF s are non profit, with the other half being for profit facilities. Very few assisted living facilities are government run. Because licensing regulations vary from state to state, ALF s can be known by various names including residential care, board and care, domiciliary care, personal care etc. Assisted living facilities offer different levels of care depending on the amount of assistance the resident requires. Most of these providers are licensed at level three, which means they can accept patients with low, moderate, or high care needs (University of Maryland, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Tablets Replace Tablets Could Tablets Replace the Textbook? A large scale and prevalent debate in America s schooling systems is should textbooks be replaced with laptops or tablets? Tablets should replace textbooks for many different reasons. Firstly, they are overall more versatile and practical. Second, teachers get better lessonplans. Finally, tablets help reduce clutter and extra papers lying around in a student s folder. According to Leann Widhalm, who has been teaching for 14 years, she believes that tablets do in fact help students and increase their grades. Especially if the educators know how to use them (ГЃlvarez). As it has already been stated, tablets are just all around more versatile. It s quicker to update, and information is far more readily available (ГЃlvarez). In addition, the can hold almost infinite textbooks in one slim tablet. This means that there won t be as much stress on the students from lugging a pounds upon pounds of books around, along with not having to stop at their locker for every class. Teachers can customize student learning using tablets with hundreds of educational apps designed for iPad and Android devices (Klindt). Yet another issue is that textbooks become outdated quickly, making the students fall behind in their education. The tablet s aforementioned ability to get information practically at your every whim allows for teachers to create lesson plans that fit their teaching style ( Foreign Language ). • 46. An In-Depth Analysis Of Gender Issues In Cosmopolitan... Introduction Traditionally gender has been viewed as a simple binary category with certain dichotomies that exist between the masculine and feminine. The categorization is borne from the belief that because men and women are biologically different that is, different sexes, there will be a natural difference in the way they behave within the society (language use being an important aspect of this behavior). There is little evidence that this belief is based on anything other than stereotyping. Just by virtue that women and men are biologically different, the society believes that the men and women should behave different also and that each should be treated differently. • 48. Selecting The Appropriate Research Methods 3. Methodology When selecting the appropriate research methods, it was important for me to carefully consider the approaches that would best fit my research in order to reach meaningful conclusions. I decided to choose approaches that I see fit around my research topic and would ensure I achieve the results to come out of my research. As (Walker, 1985, p.46) advocates that Just as recipes are not simply things that are done to food, but become concepts within which method and substance are compounded. Methods in research can become an intrinsic part of the project. The methods we choose are, in this sense, there to be tested, just as much as the substantive hypothesis . This claims that the methods that are chosen to embark on an area of research are a vital part of the project and need to be taken into account just as much as the question that the methods are used to answer it. Therefore, the two approaches I chose to shape my research were a case studyand appreciative inquiry to allow me to collect the data I had selected which was the following; questionnaires, interviews and observations. 3.1 Case Study I have chosen to approach my research by using a case study approach which builds up a rich picture of a case using different kinds of data collection and gathering the views, perceptions and ideas of diverse individuals relating to the case. • 51. Summary Of The Nobel Lecture By Toni Morrison In the world, there are about 6909 different languages being spoken. Millions of people are speaking those languages all around the globe, but how many of them are actually speaking? Language is not just about communication with words. Toni Morrison elaborates more on that idea in her speech the Nobel Lecture. Toni s writing illustrates her beliefs about languageand the deeper meaning of it. She explains that language should Permit new knowledge or encourage the mutual exchange of ideas (Morrison). She believes that America is not achieving those ideas for language but in fact is doing the opposite. American people do not know the meaning and effect of language and because of that, true language is dying. In the speech, the Nobel Lecture, by Toni Morrison, the author narrates repetition and connotationin order to emphasize and elaborate ideas and purposes of language , ultimately exposing her beliefs about language. In the speech, the word dying and other synonyms like dead are repeated multiple times. We know that the the bird mentioned in the story is a metaphor for representing language because Morrison says the heart of such language is languishing, or perhaps not beating at all if the bird is already dead . That sentence connects how the bird and language are correlated in the speech. So the reader can infer from the rest of the speech so when she says is the bird dead, she is really saying is the language dead. Morrison believes that due to the examples of ... • 52. Federal Emergency Management Agency System Allison Taggart Federal Emergency Management Agency SEMT335 E1WW January 31, 2015 Federal Emergency Management Agency Creation The Federal Emergency Management Agency can be traced back to the Congressional Act of 1803. This act was the result of an extensive fire in a New Hampshire town needing assistance, and is generally considered to be the first piece of disaster legislation (About the Agency, 2014). Over the next century or so, disaster legislation was put to use in response to natural disasters including hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, tornados, etc. approximately 100 times. The Disaster Relief Act of 1950 gave the President authority to issue disaster declarations that allowed Federal agencies to provide direct assistance to State and local governments (IS 230, 2014). This creation of legislation led to a complex system of agencies, programs, policies which often overlapped between state and local governments. Because of this, the National Governor s Association asked President Carter to centralize federal emergency functions. FEMA was signed into law on April 1, 1979 by President Carter through Executive Order 12127 (IS 230, 2014). However, during the 1980 s there were not many large scale disasters in which the agency needed to respond and it became a quiet administrative department.
