These include many easily recognizable phenomena, such as lightning and static electricity, but in
addition, less familiar concepts, such as the electromagnetic field and electromagnetic induction.
4. Electricity sources
People have been trying to solve the electricity issue when faced with an acute shortage of electricity,
so every country wants to increase power production in all possible ways. The most prolific source of
electric energy are the nuclear power plants, but the risk of a catastrophic event, such as Chernobyl in
1986, makes people think twice before accepting this kind of energy source. Of course there are other
ways of acquiring electrical energy, called alternative sources of energy. Wind energy, solar energy,
sea waves energy are the latest resources, but the technology for them is still developing so they can
be used only in a few countries. There are many reasons we are looking towards alternative energy
sources. With many countries, and US cities, signing the Kyoto Treaty, efforts to reduce pollutants and
greenhouse gases are a primary focus in today s culture. Alternative, or renewable energy, sources
show significant promise in helping to reduce the amount of toxins that are by products of energy use.
Not only do they protect against harmful by products, but using alternative energy helps to preserve
many of the natural resources that we

The Benefits Of Organic Farming
As we have been discussing in class, the debate on organic food has been rising. Many say that it is
the way of the future, while many others say it is going back to the ways of the past. When synthetic
chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides are currently some of the most used things in farming
today to help facilitate perfect growing conditions and increase yields, could it be possible for organic
farmers compete with them? If organic farming were to become the go to method of farming, we have
to ask: Is organic farming globally sustainable? While there may be many ways to answer this
question while looking at different aspects of the organic movement and their definitions, one answer
in particular jumped out at me. Organic farming is not globally sustainable because it is not efficient
enough to serve the global market. Sustainability is one of the top issues when it comes to farming
today. Farmers need to consider the effect they are having on their land when using certain practices
and products. For this reason, it is important to remember that organic and conventional farming both
require extensive work to maintain their products and to provide for the consumer. As we have seen in
Steven Shapin s essay What Are You Buying When You Buy Organic , in where he references Michael
Pollan talking about Asparagus, which had been grown in Argentina, [and] air freighted six thousand
miles to the States (433) , the role of the consumer is not limited to those in

The Effect Of The Warring States Period On Modern Japan
The warring states period in Japan was one of constant military dispute. It started in 1467 and went for
136 years and only ended when all the clans unified under the Tokugawa Shogunate in 1603. This
period definitely had a large effect in the making of modern Japan because it was a time of growing
culture and strong economics. The economy grew despite the wars raging and trade was big this
indicates the sophisticated craft and manufacturing industries in Japan. These are the main reasons for
the start of the warring states period and how this era affected modern Japan. The background to the
warring states period is extensive and quite complex. The government at the time was known as the
Bakufu Shogunate or the Shogunal government. It was

Development of Washington D.C.
Washington D.C. is considered by many people to be the most important city in not just the United
States, but in the whole world. Washington D.C., to many, is like the capitol of the free world.
Decisions that have made the world how it is today have happened in is very city which was named
after the first president of the United States. As important as the city itself is, its development is just as
important. That is why, in the following, we will explore how Washington D.C. came to be the great
city it is today.
George Washington himself chose the location of Washington D.C.; north of where the Potomac and
Anacostia rivers meet. The city was officially founded on July 16, 1790. Pierre Charles L Enfant, a

is the National Mall. The National Mall consists of the Capitol Building, the Washington Monument,
and the Lincoln Memorial. First, we will talk about the Washington Monument. The Washington
Monument is a stone obelisk over 500 feet tall and is the centerpiece of the National Mall. The
monument is also made out of 40,000 marble and granite blocks and is the tallest freestanding
structure in the world. You might ask yourself; What is holding this structure together? The answer is
the monuments weight. After six years of construction on the monument, the project ran out of money
because of the young nation going to civil war. The monument was only 150 feet in the air at this
point. Twenty four years later, 1878, construction once again began on the Washington Monument.
Thomas Lincoln Casey was the head engineer on the construction, but was faced with a problem right
away because the original blocks were not available anymore. That is why the bottom portion of the
structure is a different shade than the top portion. Casey had another problem; Congress could not
reach a decision on how the Monument should be

President Donald Trump reduced the Bears Ears National Monument this past December to 201,876
acres from the 1.35 million acres that President Barack Obama set aside in 2016. This reduction was
recommended by the Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke. Other opponents of the creation of the Bears Ears
National Monument include Utah Governor Gary Herbert and several commissioners of San Juan
County where the monument is located. President Trump said the monument should not have been
created over the objections of the citizens of Utah. Not all the citizens of Utah objected to the creation
of this monument. Bears Ears is a sacred site to local members of the Navajo Nation, Hopi, Zuni, and

Analysis Of If By Rudyard Kipling
I chose poetry because it usually carries many rhetorical elements and is open to more interpretation.
Kipling is successful in achieving this through his poetry because of his experiences and audience.
The main audience he is writing to would be his son, but once he circulated his work physically and
then eventually onto the Internet, the poem applied to many different people. I chose Kipling s piece
in particular because of the emotional bond he distinguished with his audience along with the many
interpretations I was able to gain from this piece. Depending on where a person is at in their life
maturity wise, they can get different lessons from this piece and I found that very unique about his
writing and how he was maximizing the use of his literature. In If, a poem by Rudyard Kipling, he
integrates his personal experiences in a parallel structure in order to form an emotional bond to the
audience and leave the ending open with multiple interpretations.
Kipling s person experiences are constructed to leave a message of maturity for both audiences.
Kipling has his poetry set in a parallel structure and left many of the lines open ended for further
interpretation. He guides the reader in the right direction of the mature thing to do, however,
depending on where a person is at, the audience will take their own route with their personal mindset.
Kipling is trying to convey the message that maturity is not age, but rather growing from situations
and how a person handles

Dr M. M s The Chair Essay
The chair creaked as Mr. M. leaned back with his hands to his chin, his face betraying his surprise at
finding out this new information. Two months prior, he was told that he was statin intolerant. This
diagnosis was supported by his reports of muscle cramps and an elevated CK level on routine labs. In
accordance with the research protocol, for which I was the lead coordinator, his statin therapy was
discontinued, yet curiously his symptoms remained. I was not convinced that statin intolerance was
the culprit behind Mr. M s woes. Bits and pieces of information surfaced during his visits eventually
prompting my decision to request a thyroid panel on his behalf. In one visit he revealed in jest his
struggles with constipation. In yet another follow up visit he reminisced on his past as a bodybuilder
and maintained that his recent 20 lbs. weight gain was to be blamed on his wife s wonderful cooking.
It came as no surprise that Mr. M s Thyroid panel revealed an elevated TSH and an almost non
existent T3 and T4 levels, a formal diagnosis of Hypothyroidism was later determined by an
endocrinologist. I had gotten to know Mr. M over a matter of months, eventually finding the root of
Mr. M s problems still remains a powerful source of gratification. Though Mr. M constantly dismissed
and underplayed his symptoms, the true state of his health was eventually gleaned from casual
conversation. I often ponder as to how long Mr. M would go untreated where it not for an intimate and

about a day by day struggle with temptation and addiction because the group members can relate to

the lack of understanding on the disease as well as the taboo of talking about it. Another example that
aid me to understand the role of the group meeting is the fact that each member identified himself or
herself as an addict by the time they mention their name which from my point of view relate to the
fact of acceptance instead of denial about who they are, that even when years passed from the last time
they used they are aware that they are still vulnerable to the drugs and that the support the group
therapy provide is essential to stay clean as a member also mentioned that he was born an addict and
stay an addict for many years but incompletely denial of it because he thought he could stop using
drugs whenever he wanted to but failed each time until he finally join the group and follow the

Causes Of Immigration In America
The United States experienced major waves of immigration during the colonial era, the first part of the
19th century and from the 1880s to 1920. Many immigrants came to America seeking greater
economic opportunity, while some, such as the Pilgrims in the early 1600s, arrived in search of
religious freedom.
From the 17th to 19th centuries, hundreds of thousands of African slaves came to America against
their will. The first significant federal legislation restricting immigration was the 1882 Chinese
Exclusion Act.
Individual states regulated immigration prior to the 1892 opening of Ellis Island, the country s first
federal immigration station. New laws in 1965 ended the quota system that favored European
immigrants, and today, the majority of the country s immigrants hail from Asia and Latin America.
From its earliest days, America has been a nation of immigrants, starting with its original inhabitants
who crossed the land bridge connecting Asia and North America tens of thousands of years ago. By
the
1500s, the first Europeans, led by the Spanish and French, had begun establishing settlements in what
would become the United States. In 1607, the English founded their first permanent settlement in
present day America at Jamestown in the Virginia Colony. Some of America s first settlers came in
search of freedom to practice their faith. In 1620, a group of roughly 100 people later known as the
Pilgrims fled religious persecution in Europe and arrived at present day Plymouth,

I Graduate With A High School Diploma
Orthodontistry

Mrs. Kamerman
December 11, 2015
INTRODUCTION After I graduate with a high school diploma, I would like to become an
orthodontist. Orthodontics has fascinated me since I was in third grade when I got braces. I have had
my braces on for seven years now, therefore I frequently visit my orthodontist. Throughout my
treatment process, I have seen the improvement made in the shape of my mouth. The idea of being
able to drastically improve someone s smile by reforming, straightening, and aligning an individual s
mouth has always intrigued me.
ORTHODONTIST RESEARCH The expertise needed to be successful in orthodontics in is the ability
to easily maneuver your hands. As a student, I should take courses that will prepare me for admission
to the pre dental college of my choice. In general, my high school courses should include chemistry,
biology, english, mathematics, speech, history, sign language, and any other courses that include the
development of hand skills. Courses like so, which specialize in improving my communication skills
and they will also assist in the preparation of my college studies. Critical Thinking is necessary to
achieve mastery in this area because orthodontics requires the ability to identify and solve problems,
therefore a course in which this is taught will be helpful. Orthodontists are usually associated with

As a child growing up, I ve witnessed violence in my neighborhood and schools. I have known people
who have died because of gun violence or people who made the wrong decisions and went to prison. I
had witnessed a friend of mine shot and killed in June 2008. One day a group of friends and I were
sitting on my step talking, and a guy rode towards us on a bike and said: what s up. He continued to
travel in the opposite direction of us towards the corner of my block until I heard a loud noise which
startled me. At first, I taught it was a firecracker, before realizing that it was gunshots. After the loud

The Classical Types Of Love
Love is a special emotion that most individuals strives for. Part of a human s nature is to love and long
for another individual. This feeling has existed since the beginning and will continue to exist until the
end. The term love, however, is very broad. To understand more easily what the term means, the
Ancient Greeks came up with three terms to symbolize the three main types of love. The three
classical types of love are very important to understand, as they will continue to exist until the world
ends. The selected poems read reflect three classical types of love.
One type of love that is present in the selected poems is agape love. Agape love is an unconditional
love that is all about sacrifice. Agape love in the highest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker in this poem shows the highest form of agape love by offering the sacrifice of his life to
defend his country, to which he honors all. Another type of love that is important within the selected
poems is storge love. Storge love is a type of love between family and friends. Two examples of this
kind of love are what parents naturally feel for their children or the love that friends feel for each
other. This kind of love also contains commitment and sacrifice. Storge love is portrayed heavily in
Shakespeare s Sonnet 116. In the poem, Shakespeare explains that love is not just an object or
something that can be played with, but rather it is a commitment one makes to one they love. He also
says that love never alters or withers through a relationship s ups and downs. Shakespeare writes,
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
Oh, no! it is an ever fixed mark,
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth s unknown, although his height be taken. (ll. 1 8)
Shakespeare uses a metaphor in line seven as he uses a star as an object to follow. He uses the star to
suggest that love is a guide, and that lovers can look to. Shakespeare makes it very clear that storge
love is very passionate, serious, and not to be taken lightly. As written in this poem, storge love is

The Importance Of Cultural Identity
We all have unique identities that we develop within our cultures, but these identities are not fixed or
static (Trumbull and Pacheco 8). People should examine their culture to have a better understanding of
how it affects their identity and perceptions. In order to understand one s cultural identity, he or she
need to understand what the term means. According to one source, cultural identity can be defined as,
These different experiences and the new values, beliefs, and ideas they produce contribute to the
dynamic nature of cultures (Trumbull and Pacheco 10). Considering this definition, I realize that my
cultural identity can be best represented by ethnicity because it expresses my individuality as a person.
Various aspects of a person s life that may determine his or her cultural identity includes ethnicity,
language, art, location, food, traditions, and history. After analyzing several texts, the reader
recognizes that three important elements of a person s cultural identity include ethnicity, location, and
food. An important element of a person s cultural identity is ethnicity. A person s ethnicity has an

Borrelia Arthropod Vectors
There are four different strain of the Borrelia genus that is known to be found in arthropod vectors.
The Borrelia bacteria is a spirochete bacterium that is located in the gut of the infected vector. Borrelia
afzelii is commonly found in Asian and European countries, Borrelia garinii is found throughout
Europe, Borrelia burgdorferi and Borrelia mayonii are both strains that are seen here in the United
States. Borrelia burgdorferi and Borrelia mayonii are both found in the vector, a deer tick, or Lxodes
Scapularis. However, the strain Borrelia mayonii is found in the nymph stage of the tick instead of the
adult stage like the strain Borrelia burgdorferi.
Tick are not bugs, but they are small arachnids, that are part of the parasitiform. Ticks in these cases
are considered arthropod vectors which are an arachnid that can transmit the disease causing organism
from themselves to the host that they are feeding on. Ticks are external parasites, and they live by
feeding on the blood of a mammal, bird, reptiles, and amphibians. Tick pick up the disease causing

Abstract:
In order to cope up with the growing problem of traffic congestion several means and methods have
been implemented. For reducing this problem,an efficient method for traffic monitoring can be
implemented by providing the availability of the parking spaces in advance. Since there exist no such
system we intend to develop one using sensors and RFIDs.In proposed system, we consider car park
equipped with sensors(IR) which checks for the availability of parking slots and updates the
information periodically. This updated information is provided to the user via an android application.
Using this application user gets directed towards the parking slot by using the shortest path
algorithm(Dijikstra s). Also to avoid traffic congestion due to parking charges, car is associated with a
unique RFID tag for the wallet parking.

Ethos And Pathos In Bernard Roth s The Achievement Habit
That s a goooooood reason (Roth 42). This is a quote from the second chapter of Bernard Roth s book,
The Achievement Habit. Mr. Roth, a professor at Stanford, effectively uses Aristotle s Rhetorical
Triangle containing ethos, pathos, and logos in chapter 2 of his book to show that reasons are bullshit.
Mr. Roth effectively has ethos in his book. Bernard Roth the Author of the book, The Achievement
Habit: Stop Wishing, Start Doing, And Take Command of Your Life, had multiple different example of
how he is a creditable source. Mr. Roth has been a professor and Standford for 52 years. While being a
professor, in 1996 he helped to design Designer in Society also known as d.school. The hope for the
program is to get students to think differently about how they can reach their goals in life. The
program is a pretty big deal, Wall Street Journal once called it the hottest graduate program. Bernard
Roth got his PhD in Mechanical engineering at Columbia, so he knows his stuff. Lastly, the final thing
that make him a creditable source is Roth was awarded the Honorary PhD from the University of
Paris. The University of Paris only award these Honorary PhD s to people who makes a contribution
to a specific field or to a society in general. Bernard Roth has ethos because he has many degrees and
achievements to back him up.
Second, Bernard Roth shows pathos, this mean emotion, when he says Love is the ultimate
unreasonable activity (Roth 50). This makes Roth sound heartless like he has no capacity for emotion.
Roth then goes into more details and explains that most times when we ask a person why they love
someone they go into a list of reasons, but if you look hard enough you could find all those qualities in
someone else. Some say loves is just a form of projection where you or I might call it fate. When Roth
says loves is unreasonable he is showing a lack of emotion which in it own shape is emotion. Bernard
Roth also says in chapter 2 of his book, Projection is a common response (Roth 47). When we are
guilty of doing something often times we will project it on to someone else. Say one of my friends has
a problem with telling the truth, they might think that everyone is always lying to them. This is how

This type of bid is known to act as competition.
Bid Rotation: Bid rotation is done when all the co conspirators will submit bids. They do this by
agreement and then take turns to be the low bidder on a series of contracts.
After analyzing the information pertaining to Cyber Stalking on the basis where the wife stated that
her ex husband was Cyber Stalking her and trying to ruin her company and career. Without additional
information such as emails and details of anything related to the claim, I will not be able to carry out
on investigation on the basis that the wife is saying her ex husband is Cyber Stalking her because there
is no evidence proving that he did such thing.
Because of the nature of this case, where the wife is accusing the ex husband of cyber stalking it is
important that we as investigators have all details of the claims because cyber stalking is also closely
related to:
Cyberharassment. Cyberharassment differs from cyberstalking in that it may generally be defined as
not involving a credible threat. Cyberharassment usually pertains to threatening or harassing email
messages, instant messages, or to blog entries or websites dedicated solely to tormenting an
individual. Some states approach cyberharrassment by including language addressing electronic
communications in general harassment statutes, while others have created stand alone
cyberharassment statutes.

Loneliness in Cannery Row, by John Steinbeck
As night falls on Cannery Row actuality and fear overwhelms the souls as they lay awake at night. At
this very moment they are alone to think to ponder their existence their importance their meaning.
During the day the things the people of Cannery Row use to fill their void. To give them happiness is
gone and for those long hours of the night they are truly alone. The cats, the parties, and companions
are gone just for a second. But they return in the morning to calm the weary and the broken spirits of
the people in Cannery Row. Each of us just like the people in Cannery Row uses something or
someone to compensate for the loneliness in our lives. Money, relationships, and personal struggles
are evident and bring about loneliness to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Frankie has never had much love he knows what it means and he finds it in Doc. With Doc
he is not alone. Doc is his protection, his comforter. He is also a father figure who he looks up to.
Undoubtedly Doc and Frankie share something and it is there intellectual capacities. Their intellect
predisposes them to a certain form of loneliness. It is of course on the opposite spectrum. Doc is
highly and unusually intelligent while Frankie is on the slow side. They find it hard to fit in with the
people of Cannery Row because they cannot find a place where they fit in intellectually. We can all
think back to the smart kid or who we would refer to as the nerd in high school. They were the kids
who always sat alone at lunch who did not go to dances or social events. Never got asked to prom and
had very little friends. If you are too smart you are a nerd and if you are too slow you are dim witted.
Therefore is safe to say intelligence plays a huge role in loneliness. Doc chooses to be to put all his
time and effort into his work which brings him true happiness. Without Western Biological doc would
feel alone and isolated. Western Biological fills the void in his life. Although Doc has not reached self
actualization all his basic needs have been met. He is satisfied with where he is. No doubt Cannery
Row is known for its parties. Yes this can be looked upon negatively. Cannery row is filled with

Analysis of the Canadian Computer Software Industry
The Canadian Computer Software Industry: An Analysis
Introduction
The involvement has become so involuntary that it has now become a dependence and an addiction, to
an extent that the absence of a computer makes someone completely dysfunctional, thus making the
computer software industry an instrumental new force within the international economy (Kent
Williams 1997 p 140). Our insatiable need for new and updated technologies to accompany us through
almost all walks of life has been resulting in a rapidly growing computer software industry that is
featured in a number of locations around the world. Canada has seen great success in the growth of its
software industry and its ability to export its intellectual products all over the globe.
Computer Software Industry
The computer software industry is a relatively new development on the international market place.
Only a few decades ago, there was no such industry at all. Thanks to a number of innovative software
developers, the rise of the industry has become a booming success. The industry itself increased
dramatically in the 1990s. It was during this period that software was growing in a number of other
supporting industries. Software soon became an integral part of industries like healthcare, business
applications like databases and network structures, personal finance, and education (Kent Williams
1997). The more intertwined it became with other business applications, the more successful software
became as a

Otto Frank No Ordinary Diary
No Ordinary Diary I had never imagined how intensely Anne had occupied her mind with the problem
of Jewish suffering over the centuries, and the power she had gained through her belief in God, this
was a surprise to me, said Otto Frank after he read Anne s diary. Because of the spread of Anne s
diary, now not only can Otto learn about how she felt, but the world can too. Although many difficult
events took place during Anne Frank s childhood before the war, life in hiding and the camps, and her
legacy after the war, she is now known as one of the most famous German Jewish Holocaust victims.
Anne lived her childhood very happily before the war. Anne was born into a small family in Germany.
Annelies Marie Frank, also known as Anne Frank, was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany
( Anne Frank Biography ). There were a variety of religions in Frankfurt during this time. She and her
parents, Edith and Otto Frank, and her older sister, Margot, were German Jewish, and they were an
upper middle class family. The Frank families had lived in Frankfurt for many generations before, too.
Otto was a World War I lieutenant, and he ran a business in Germany ( Anne Frank Biography ). When
Hitler came to power, many things changed. After World War I, the German economy was very
unstable. This was when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

FFA Drones Case
As an agriculture surveyor who is trying to utilize drones to increase the efficiency of the surveying
the land for my customers, I would have a lot to consider before starting usage of the drones.
Currently, the FFA has been given the power to create federal regulations around the operation of
drones, but they have not been clearly defined yet which would make operating drones. Some states
and local municipalities have even also created their own statutes in order to keep up with the
technology. Due to the fragmented rules governing different areas and a lack of clear regulation from
the federal government, operating a drone could open my business up to substantial unforeseen
liabilities. I would need to make sure to I have done enough ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

regulating agencies, lawyers, industry experts, and insurance companies to fully vet the idea and
understand the implications. Some of the issues that should be considered are trespassing, privacy,
negligence, and the regulatory environment. Even then understanding the risk doesn t prevent
something from happening. Implemented effective risk management practices can get very expensive

Economic Characteristics Of The Aztec And Inca Empires
In the 1400 s through the 1500 s there were the Aztec and Inca empires, both were empires that started
out as marginalized peoples who conquered and absorbed other cultures. Aztec and Inca Empires were
based on managing resources, goods, and people in an economy centered on intensive agriculture
including having their currency systems. The economic characteristics of the Aztec and Inca empires
were similar in that they both changed their environment to improve their agricultural system and they
both focused on internal trade networks, however they differed in the way they taxed their people. The
Aztecs were a triple alliance; three city states that banded together for the greater good. The joined
civilizations were Mexico Tenochtitlan, Texcoco, and Tlacopan. The Incas were located around
modern day Peru, and are known as the largest empire in the pre Columbian America.
The economic characteristics of the government differed from how they collected revenue. So, the
Inca government had a totalitarian complex government whether as Aztecs had a decentralized
government that focused on expansion. In document 4, it explains how the Aztecs required conquered
lands to pay a tribute. Aztecs would pay in goods and services rather than currency. From the source
document 5 Pedro de Cieza de Léon describes the Inca rule, that there was a king or emperor, as well
as representatives for each province. As for the aztecs as mentioning that they formed a triple alliance,
they did not end up

Non-Sexual Child Abuse
Child abuse and neglect happens in a variety of situations, for an array of reasons. Children are
infrequently subject to one form of abuse at a time. Adults can experience a range of psychological,
emotional and social problems associated to childhood abuse. Emotional abuse may be similarly
harmful to a child as physical abuse and neglect, some people also say, sexually abused children are
typically: mistreated in other ways as well. Some scholars discovered physical abuse, emotional
abuse, and neglect were same insults that affect wide ranging psychiatric vulnerabilities. Child
maltreatment had equal consequences for boys and girls of different races. Importantly, non sexual

When synthetic chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides are currently some of the most used things in farming today to help facilitate perfect growing conditions and increase yields, could it be possible for organic farmers compete with them? If organic farming were to become the go to method of farming, we have to ask: Is organic farming globally sustainable? While there may be many ways to answer this question while looking at different aspects of the organic movement and their definitions, one answer in particular jumped out at me. Organic farming is not globally sustainable because it is not efficient enough to serve the global market. Sustainability is one of the top issues when it comes to farming today. Farmers need to consider the effect they are having on their land when using certain practices and products. For this reason, it is important to remember that organic and conventional farming both require extensive work to maintain their products and to provide for the consumer. As we have seen in Steven Shapin s essay What Are You Buying When You Buy Organic , in where he references Michael Pollan talking about Asparagus, which had been grown in Argentina, [and] air freighted six thousand miles to the States (433) , the role of the consumer is not limited to those in ... The answer is the monuments weight. After six years of construction on the monument, the project ran out of money because of the young nation going to civil war. The monument was only 150 feet in the air at this point. Twenty four years later, 1878, construction once again began on the Washington Monument. Thomas Lincoln Casey was the head engineer on the construction, but was faced with a problem right away because the original blocks were not available anymore. • 9. Analysis Of If By Rudyard Kipling I chose poetry because it usually carries many rhetorical elements and is open to more interpretation. Kipling is successful in achieving this through his poetry because of his experiences and audience. The main audience he is writing to would be his son, but once he circulated his work physically and then eventually onto the Internet, the poem applied to many different people. I chose Kipling s piece in particular because of the emotional bond he distinguished with his audience along with the many interpretations I was able to gain from this piece. Depending on where a person is at in their life maturity wise, they can get different lessons from this piece and I found that very unique about his writing and how he was maximizing the use of his literature. In If, a poem by Rudyard Kipling, he integrates his personal experiences in a parallel structure in order to form an emotional bond to the audience and leave the ending open with multiple interpretations. Kipling s person experiences are constructed to leave a message of maturity for both audiences. Kipling has his poetry set in a parallel structure and left many of the lines open ended for further interpretation. He guides the reader in the right direction of the mature thing to do, however, depending on where a person is at, the audience will take their own route with their personal mindset. In accordance with the research protocol, for which I was the lead coordinator, his statin therapy was discontinued, yet curiously his symptoms remained. I was not convinced that statin intolerance was the culprit behind Mr. M s woes. Bits and pieces of information surfaced during his visits eventually prompting my decision to request a thyroid panel on his behalf. In one visit he revealed in jest his struggles with constipation. In yet another follow up visit he reminisced on his past as a bodybuilder and maintained that his recent 20 lbs. weight gain was to be blamed on his wife s wonderful cooking. It came as no surprise that Mr. M s Thyroid panel revealed an elevated TSH and an almost non existent T3 and T4 levels, a formal diagnosis of Hypothyroidism was later determined by an endocrinologist. • 12. Causes Of Immigration In America The United States experienced major waves of immigration during the colonial era, the first part of the 19th century and from the 1880s to 1920. Many immigrants came to America seeking greater economic opportunity, while some, such as the Pilgrims in the early 1600s, arrived in search of religious freedom. From the 17th to 19th centuries, hundreds of thousands of African slaves came to America against their will. The first significant federal legislation restricting immigration was the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act. Individual states regulated immigration prior to the 1892 opening of Ellis Island, the country s first federal immigration station. New laws in 1965 ended the quota system that favored European immigrants, and today, the majority of the country s immigrants hail from Asia and Latin America. From its earliest days, America has been a nation of immigrants, starting with its original inhabitants who crossed the land bridge connecting Asia and North America tens of thousands of years ago. By the 1500s, the first Europeans, led by the Spanish and French, had begun establishing settlements in what would become the United States. In 1607, the English founded their first permanent settlement in present day America at Jamestown in the Virginia Colony. Some of America s first settlers came in search of freedom to practice their faith. In 1620, a group of roughly 100 people later known as the Pilgrims fled religious persecution in Europe and arrived at present day Plymouth, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two examples of this kind of love are what parents naturally feel for their children or the love that friends feel for each other. This kind of love also contains commitment and sacrifice. Storge love is portrayed heavily in Shakespeare s Sonnet 116. In the poem, Shakespeare explains that love is not just an object or something that can be played with, but rather it is a commitment one makes to one they love. He also says that love never alters or withers through a relationship s ups and downs. Shakespeare writes, Let me not to the marriage of true minds Admit impediments. Love is not love Which alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove: Oh, no! it is an ever fixed mark, That looks on tempests and is never shaken; It is the star to every wandering bark, Whose worth s unknown, although his height be taken. (ll. 1 8) Shakespeare uses a metaphor in line seven as he uses a star as an object to follow. He uses the star to suggest that love is a guide, and that lovers can look to. • 21. Ethos And Pathos In Bernard Roth s The Achievement Habit That s a goooooood reason (Roth 42). This is a quote from the second chapter of Bernard Roth s book, The Achievement Habit. Mr. Roth, a professor at Stanford, effectively uses Aristotle s Rhetorical Triangle containing ethos, pathos, and logos in chapter 2 of his book to show that reasons are bullshit. Mr. Roth effectively has ethos in his book. Bernard Roth the Author of the book, The Achievement Habit: Stop Wishing, Start Doing, And Take Command of Your Life, had multiple different example of how he is a creditable source. Mr. Roth has been a professor and Standford for 52 years. While being a professor, in 1996 he helped to design Designer in Society also known as d.school. The hope for the program is to get students to think differently about how they can reach their goals in life. The program is a pretty big deal, Wall Street Journal once called it the hottest graduate program. Bernard Roth got his PhD in Mechanical engineering at Columbia, so he knows his stuff. Lastly, the final thing that make him a creditable source is Roth was awarded the Honorary PhD from the University of Paris. The University of Paris only award these Honorary PhD s to people who makes a contribution to a specific field or to a society in general. Bernard Roth has ethos because he has many degrees and achievements to back him up. Second, Bernard Roth shows pathos, this mean emotion, when he says Love is the ultimate unreasonable activity (Roth 50). This makes Roth sound heartless like he has no capacity for emotion. Roth then goes into more details and explains that most times when we ask a person why they love someone they go into a list of reasons, but if you look hard enough you could find all those qualities in someone else. Some say loves is just a form of projection where you or I might call it fate. When Roth says loves is unreasonable he is showing a lack of emotion which in it own shape is emotion. Bernard Roth also says in chapter 2 of his book, Projection is a common response (Roth 47). When we are guilty of doing something often times we will project it on to someone else.
