Analysis Of Fences By August Wilson
All people deal with emotions in everyday life and most will have problems controlling their emotions
at some point in time. However, when emotions get out of hand people can start having problems in
their daily life. In August Wilson s play Fences, he uses his piece to explain that someone unable to
control their actions caused by selfish, hatred, or angry emotions will cause issues in one s personal
life, general decisions, and in family life. Wilson hopes to target people who can t control their
emotions and wishes to prevent the negative effects of uncontrolled actions caused by negative
emotion. The inability to control one s emotions can harm their friends, decision making, and family.
Wilson main reason of writing the play is to show the audience that uncontrolled emotion can be
harmful in one s life. In Wilson s play, he uses the character Troy, a man who is a married man with a
rough history and has anger issues. Troy personal life is heavily influenced by his emotion especially
the anger from his past. Troy spends the majority of the play stating that he was unable to play
baseball due to his race even though he claims to be better than the majority of players playing at the
time. All through the play, Troy told Rose his wife, Cory, and Bano about how if he was white he
would be a professional baseball player and how his life would be better (1.1.80 90). The main reason
Wilson has Troy behave that way is to show how being angry in the past will hurt one s

No Good Deed Character Analysis
Format, premise, character traits and relationships for the episode analyzed. Daniel, you chose a great
format style for the series, No Good Deed, your analysis was broken down quite well. I do agree with
this series can fall under the drama comedic style of the webisode. You mentioned, Ernest Fiddler, is
blunt and straight to the point. If his son makes a mistake, Ernest tells him his errors without a filter.
The script stated by Ernest to Roy, One, don t let those quacks put me on life support, tubes all stickin
out of me and whatnot. When it s my time, it s my time. This statement proves he was blunt and direct
in his speech. You also mentioned, The main protagonist, Roy Fiddler, has a good sense of justice.
Roy always strives to do what is right, unaware of the problems he might encounter. This is shown in
the script, Roy looks at the flowers and smiles, an idea coming to him. Checking no one s looking, he
ditches the coffee line and salvages the flowers from the trash. Roy had a good sense to do something
good, however, his good deed turns deadly when his father goes into a coma due to an allergic
reaction. Overall, your format, premise, character traits and relationship was well documented. ...

The Communication Between Alistair And The Natives
(1) Identify the two characters that provide a form of communication, and how they serve in the
context of communication to others an ability to enable communication among many characters.
Ada s daughter,Flora, is Ada s communication to everyone. Ada is mute and so she can t really
communicate with people in a traditional manner. She carries out Ada s wishes and acts to protect Ada
in her ways although ultimately, her actions led to Alistair s anger and causing her mother pain.
George Baines is the communication between Alistair and the natives. While the natives could speak
some very basic English, Baines as a bridge in terms of communication between the natives and
Alistair by not only translating for him but also carries out orders to the natives.
(2) Describe scenes in support of your two chosen characters, be sure to consider if your choices
match the above. Give a reason why you think the two you choose provide communication.
When Ada and Flora asked Baines to take them to the beach to get the piano, Ada couldn t get her
point across and convince Baine to take her. Ultimately, Flora was able to not only translated her
mother s wishes but also convince Baines to reluctantly take them to the beach. spend the day on the
beach with Ada playing music. Baines is then taken by the transformation in Ada when she plays her
piano. I chose this because it clearly shows that often time, Ada s means of communication doesn t
work and that anger would only get her so far. Flora

America Revealed The Food Machine
Modern day farming has transformed from the farming process of last century. Instead of farmers
producing for their families, farmers are now similar to input/output managers supplying massive
manufacturers that feed the country.
1. This change in productivity has turned the American food business into an assembly line style
industry. The elements that feed this productivity increase are the same as the factors found in the text
(Stevenson, Page 60). The industry has standardized their methods, increased their capital, improved
quality, put supportive management in place, and developed new technologies. For example, the beef
market is very large in this country. In order

The Global Health Care System
There are many nonprofit, government groups that assist with or focus on international issues and
raise awareness for international countries that may need assistance, the most common assistance
today is health issues. Services that nonprofit, government groups assist with can range from
supplying water, food, vaccines, clothing, etc. All of this would include the undertaking of their health
and assisting with health issues that may arise from not having enough of these items or supplements
to live or lead a healthy lifestyle. Many of these organizations are non profit organizations and only
can survive to provide aide and services to the poverty level through charitable contributions. The
issue today with the global health care system is that the poverty level is so high in many
underdeveloped countries that only so much aide can be provided or depending on where aide does
need to be provided the resources are simply not available and resources are very limited in order to
make any improvement, water contamination is a major issue for many underdeveloped countries and
the spread of diseases at times can be very rapid. So speaking of organizations that provide health care
aide within the global health system can range from various types and what their mission, vision and
ultimate goal is in the end. The following are nonprofit organizational groups that focus on
International Countries to provide aide in some sorts: AboutFace International Aficare American

The Issue Of Independence From Britain
Once the Americans solved the issue of independence from Britain, they were immediately confronted
with another critical issue, what to do with slavery. On one hand, the South zealously supported
slavery and the expansion of it. The North, on the other hand, was very much against the survival and
expansion of slavery. The conflicting ideology created a problem in the new nation, through which
compromises did little to remedy. This gave rise to the development of sectionalism in the states.
Throughout the early development of the U.S., the main political crisis, slavery, along with a few other
minor crises were bandaged with compromises, but it was not until the Compromise of 1877 that the
crises were finally dealt with for good. Political divisions first came about when Secretary of the
Treasury Alexander Hamilton offered a financial plan in 1790 and 1791. Hamilton s immediate goals
were to establish the nation s financial stability, bring to the government s support the country s most
powerful financial interests, and encourage economic development. He had a long term goal of
making the U.S. a commercial and military power. Hamilton sought to achieve his goals by modeling
the U.S. after Great Britain. He also created a five part program. It consisted of creating credit
worthiness, creating national debt, a national bank, a tax on producers of whiskey, and the imposition
of a tariff and government subsidies to encourage the development of factories that could

Frederick Douglass Struggles
There are many children in the world today that hate school and wish they didn t have to go, but years
ago to these two kids school meant everything to them but sadly they couldn t go. One being a black
slave and the other, a blind and deaf girl. As a black slave you would never be allowed to learn
anything, and being blind and deaf, well that s self explanatory. Even though they had those troubles,
they let nothing stop them. Both The Story of My Life and Narrative of the Life of Frederick
Douglass, an American Slave share the central idea of powering through their struggles so they can
gain knowledge, but they do so in different ways. For Helen Keller, the hardest thing in her life was

Helen Keller says, I slip back many times, I fall, I stand still, I run against the edge of hidden
obstacles, I lose my temper and find it again and keep it better, I trudge on, I gain a little, I feel
encouraged, I get more eager and climb higher and begin to see the widening horizon. Every struggle
is a victory. One more effort and I reach the luminous cloud, the blue depths of the sky, the uplands of
my desire, (243). This applies to everyone because you have to fail before you can succeed, and these
two faced some tough challenges but they powered through them and accomplished there goal, which

schools, then the powers that be are definitely in charge, because they own all those outlets. We need

Cruelty And Violence In Grimm s Fairy Tales
Tales were a dominant part of everyone s life for countless years. The most famous tales today come
from Disney, but they were not quite created by them. A considerable amount of these stories originate
from the Grimm brothers, these particular stories are surrounded with violence, cruelty and monsters.
The creation of these types of tales are to scare children. Just as important is the narration of scary
stories and other stories.
A large majority of stories are used to scare children. There was a tremendous amount of violence,
abuse and cruelty in the Grimm brothers fairy tales, In many folk tales and oral traditions, these
predators are imaginary creatures such as trolls, ogres and giants who are used to to keep children
away from dangerous situations (Davis Boidinot, Violence ans Fear in Folktales) .These stories scared
children to teach a lesson on different topics relevant to the situation. These lessons can range from

gift if someone had the ability to tell a story. The narrator needed to do several things to be considered
a good narrator, to keep his listeners in suspense, the storyteller had several tricks in his bag ... He
supported his words by the mimicry of his face and by appropriate gestures. .. He also used the

the stories orally; the oral tradition was a major part of the story. Oral narration was really part of life:
people told stories from all kinds of contexts at the loom, in the field, with the needle or adze or brush

Whether an individual dances for fun or they dance competitively, dancing is a great way to meet new

communities. A discourse community is a group of people who share certain language using

Social media plays an immense role in our communication between the group. Facebook is used to
view pictures and videos of the performances, and to view the itinerary for the day. Twitter is used for
the teammates to ask questions to fellow teammates if they either deem it too personal or
embarrassing for the group texts. The team uses group texts for information, to ask general questions,
send funny pictures, and basically to get to know each other and talk. We are like a second family so it
would be a bit bizarre to be around each other for at least fifteen hours a week and not develop some
type of relationship. Our methods of intercommunication qualifies my group a discourse community.
The third reason why my group is a discourse community is because we have multiple forms of
feedback to improve performance. The most utilized form of feedback are the videos that are recorded
of our performances. By recording our performances, the choreographer and the rest of the team can
view items that need to be fixed. Some examples of fixable items include technique, counts or count
structure, and performance. To perform means the dancer is engaging with the audience, smiling (or
portraying the character assigned), and having their chin up. Even if the dancer is nervous during a
performance, having their chin up can give off the illusion that they are confident in what they are
doing. Another form of feedback that is utilized are the judges. The judges

Robinson Crusoe Book Analysis
In Daniel Defoe s Robinson Crusoe, it tells the story of young man from the city York. The original
name of Robinson was Kreutznar but was called Crusoe instead because so many people would
butcher his name. Robinson was the third son for his father and mother. The first born son for
Robinson s father was in the military as Lt. Col and was killed in action near the famous battle at
Dunkirk. The second son of the family was more or less a disappointment, since neither Robinson or
his parents knew what happened to him. With Robinson coming from a family of decent wealth, it was
now on to him to do well for himself. It seems from an early age Robinson doesn t plan on going on
the path his father wanted him to. In the book, Robinson says not bred to any trade, my head began to
be fill d very early with rambling thoughts (Defoe 5). With all the education that his father was
providing him, he didn t have any interests in the direction that his father was steering him to which
was law. It seems Robinson wants to venture on his own path and prove that he can be successful on
his terms and not that of his father and mother. Robinson wanted to be out in the sea, but his parents
didn t want that for him and wouldn t give him permission to leave. Until, one day a friend of his was
leaving on a ship and a naïve Robinson against his parents wishes followed his friend. The journey
doesn t end up going well and gives Robinson a wakeup call that he should listen to his parents. In the

Under The Dome Stephen King
Stephen King s Under the Dome presents a unique story that is both thought provoking and
entertaining. The introduction of the dome creates compelling social dynamics that would otherwise
not have been possible. In many ways the dome is a microcosm of earth complete with its own
conflicts, environmental disasters, and just about every social issue imaginable. The alien entities were
equally thought provoking. From their perspective humans were nothing more than ants to be toyed
with. They had no empathy or compassion, only pity. Julia Shumway s interaction with the entity
causes an introspective evaluation on how we treat other people.
James Big Jim Rennie steals the show as the novel s villain. Rennie is a bit of a paradox. On one hand

Health Literacy Paper
An understanding of literacy, and health literacy is crucial to understand their impact on client health
outcomes. Further, a nurse s ability to better educate clients lies in his or her understanding of these
terms. Literacy is a multilayered, dynamic and complex topic; however, in short literacy is a set of
skills including reading, writing oral skills, numeracy skills, and skills that enable us to acquire
knowledge and information (Keefe Copeland, 2011). Literacy can be understood through various
theoretical lenses. Keefe Copeland also highlight five principles we must keep in mind when thinking
about literacy (2011). Firstly, all people are capable of acquiring literacy, however methods of
acquiring literacy vary greatly. Literacy is also a human right, given its ability to shape human
experience Literacy also serves as a crucial empowerment tool. Social interaction also contributes to
literacy; it is developed through human ability to build relationships. Lastly, literacy is not the
responsibility of an individual alone. Community, and human interaction nurture literacy as well.
All clients possess a degree of health literacy, and like literacy, it is a human right. It is a client s
ability to understand written, spoken or numerical information, and make health care related decisions
based on the information (Eadie, 2014). A client s health literacy also has a social component, often
being influenced by their socioeconomic status, immigration status and language

Student Financial Aid For Students
Staring from the 1940s, Student financial aid began to play a significant role in prompting student
access, persistence and completion rate of American Higher Education. Since students can be regarded
as the output of the education, student financial aid also contributes to the social mobility and the
improvement of economics. Federal government, state governments and institutions jointly provide
the funding to certain groups of students. Among all types of financial aid, need based aid and merit
based aid are most important financial aid for students. Higher Education Act of 1965 is a milestone of
the development of need based aid. The Law was intended to strengthen the educational resources of
our colleges and universities and to provide financial assistance for students in postsecondary and
higher education. Specifically, the Pell Grant is the foundation of the federal financial aid system.
While the social turbulence of the 1960s may have been the impetus behind the Pell program, the
groundwork for broad based aid programs is more appropriately attributed to the GI Bill. After 1965,
the Higher Education Act of 1965 was reauthorized several times to achieve the goals. Need based aid
is essential for college access and success. According to Turner s research (2013), every $1000
decrease of tuition price will lead to 4% of increase in college attendance. Evidence suggests that
reducing college costs can increase college entry and persistence (Dynarski Clayton,

The Cause that Led to the Beginning of the Peloponnesian War
Ancient Greece during 4th Century BC was home to the city states of Sparta and Athens, who during
this time were the superpowers of the region. The Peloponnesian war between these city states and
their respective allies lasted from 431 404 BC, although conflicts between the two had dated back
further. Major fighting in the war occurred from 431 421 and ended in Athenian victory. However,
renewed conflict raged between 413 and 404 which resulted in Spartan victory.
The Peloponnesian war between Athens and Sparta evolved from a string of events which I am going
to look at to see if there was a single cause for this war.
In 435 BC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Potidaea was a member of the Delian League, Athens and her allies, it had maintained the
right to receive magistrates from its mother city every year. Tired of paying tribute to Athens and
resentful of Athenian rule the citizens of Potidaea supported a revolt to expel Athenian power.
Both sides sent forces to Potidaea and once again Athenians were battling with Corinthians. Due to
aiding the people of Potidaea, Corinth faced an embargo by Athens which enraged Sparta. Any
appeals to Athens to stop the embargo were ignored, forcing the Spartans to coviene the
Peloponnesian council and lead the two cities one more step closer to war.
Thucydides wrote the growth of the power of Athens and the alarm which this inspired (in Sparta)
made war inevitable. This comment shows another element that contributed to the cause of the
Peloponnesian war.
After the Persian wars, there was a development of Athenian control when the Delian league was
formed which was an alliance of cities based around Athens. Each city contributed funds to help

Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels
Even in today s society, jokes about the repercussions of educating women find their way into the
popular culture, though they are generally very tongue in cheek. For example, in Pitch Perfect 2, a
recent film, a comedic relief, narrating character says of the girls acapella performance, This is what
happens when you send girls to college (Pitch Perfect 2). The character implies that when girls are
given education and freedom, they will default to partaking in foolish behavior. This was a common
idea in the eighteenth century as people legitimately denied women schooling based on such a
concept. In the last paragraph on page 55 of Gulliver s Travels (1726), Swift comments on the
education and roles of women in Lilliputian society using specific word choice and juxtaposition of
male and female schooling. With this, he asserts that, while the Lilliputians regarded women with
similar gender based expectations as the English, they did offer women some form of equality through
the basis of education. This, of course, contrasts the treatment of women in European society which
feared that female education would empower women to leave behind their traditional roles. Through
his addressal of the fact that women can be educated and still succeed as mothers and wives, Swift
presents that society could benefit from teaching girls basic information while still keeping them in
their customary places.
For instance, he comments that Chambermaids practiced common Follies (Swift 55).

Dust Storms In The 1930 s

the United States and Canadian prairies in the 1930 s. Drought came in three waves, 1934, 1936, and
1939 1940. Some regions experienced drought conditions for as many as eight years.
The drought of the 1930 turned soil into dust, in which the destroying winds blew away in humongous
clouds that sometimes blocked the skies. Choking waves of dust named black blizzards or black
rollers traveled across the country. Great dust storms spread from Dust Bowl era. The drought is the

the wealthy market. This new show runs alongside The Big 5 and will focus on interior fit out
products. That means it will cover everything from bathrooms and kitchens, to the individual products
and materials that are necessary to create original interior designs and fit outs.
The other reasons for choosing The Big 5 Kuwait International Fair is that, the country has a large,
modern, exhibition facility readymade to host exhibitions of all sizes, as well as present conference
events. Kuwait s economy too has a significant influence. The country has the highest budget surplus
as a percentage of GDP of any Gulf state at 25 percent and this budget is earmarked for spending on
housing, infrastructure and healthcare. This creates huge opportunities for exhibitions and conferences
that address these subjects (Mellor, 2015).

as they walked through the front door. They made their way to the kitchen where they knew dinner

Internal And Domestic Conflict During The Cold War Era
The words of Lewis carrol Let craft, ambition, spite Be quenched in reason s night, Till weakness turn
to might, Till what is dark is light, Till what is wrong is right. The conventional political analysts gave
two fold international relationship doctrine war and peace. Pace has meant international peace, while
war has referred to major interstate armed conflicts. The security within borders has been identical to
national security. National security and national defense have become virtually synonymous, and
emphasis has been put on the military aspects of security. The traditional arrangements for peace and
security have been balance of power and collective security. However, the post cold war era has
brought to the fore the problem of internal and domestic conflict. Globalisation and communication
are deeply intertwined in international relations. Probably, there is no globalization without media and
communication. The breaking up of space and time, brought about by electronic media, has led to
individuals being able to interact with one another and within frameworks of mediated interaction,
regardless of social disparities. The countries are no more impermeable to the events and happenings
of other nations around the world. David Held and Anthony Mc grew s definition of globalization
which denotes the expanding scale, growing magnitude, speeding up and deepening impact of
transcontinental flows and patterns of social interaction.

Pool Halls Research Paper
When putting together a bar there is a lot more than what hits the eye. A study by the sociology
department at Ohio State University conducted a study about pool halls. What they found was that
when you out the pool table in the front of bar people take less care of something that they have easy
access to. When you put the pool table at the back you get more traffic at the bar raising the number of
drinks sold thus giving the bar more money. With the pool tables in the back people will spend more
time at the bars and less time at the pool table.
The people who go there to just play pool and know how to play pool will be able to play without
people walking in their way. The people who will continue to come and continue to come will set a ...

Examples Of Juxtaposition In Romeo And Juliet
Juxtapositions are prominent throughout many pieces of literature. Juxtapositions such as oxymorons
and paradoxes force the reader to infer important information about the characters they are reading
about. One good example of this is William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet play. Shakespeare uses
juxtaposition in the drama Romeo and Juliet to indirectly characterize the complexity of their
relationship. Shakespeare uses juxtaposition to indirectly characterize Romeo as someone who lives a
mysterious life. Juliet describes Romeo as whiter than snow on a raven s back (3.2.19). Ironically,
Shakespeare describes Romeo as the bright spot in Juliet s life even though her spouse is the one to
end her cousin s life. She also describes him as someone

Holden Caulfield Loneliness
To feel lonely when surrounded by people is the worst feeling imaginable. In the novel, The Catcher
in the Rye , author Jerome David Salinger presents anti hero, Holden Caulfield, as a reclusive teenager
in the 1950s who assumingly suffers from a mental disorder. This novel starts off in the autumn at
Pencey Prep, a private boys preparatory school and later in New York, while the last chapter takes
place in a mental asylum. Holden who suffers from disorders such as depression and anxiety is
misunderstood by society and therefore is pushed into isolation and loneliness. He admits to being
lonely and depressed throughout the book. Right before Holden decides to leave Pencey forever to go
to Manhattan, he shares his feelings after getting in a fight with his roommate Spencer, I got feeling so

Holden shares, I thought probably I d get pneumonia and die (154). His isolation from others around

How Human Resource Policies Influence the Performance of Medium Sized Manufacturing Firms
1. Introduction Globalization has created a paradigm shift in the ways by which firms conduct their
business. The convergence of world economies has minimized and in some cases eliminated both
legislative and geographical barriers to international production and sale of goods and services. The
flip side of this process is the increased competition for world markets created especially by the threat
of multinational firms to local firms (Garry Litan, 1998). Local firms must find ways to compete and
survive the threat of take over and crowding out of the market by multinational producers who enjoy
favorable economies of scale. This is effectively achieved by ways of in themselves creating this very
economy of scale; expanding business operations helps them lower the marginal cost of production
allowing them to therefore provide a favorable pricing policy within the market. In achieving the
aforementioned, firms must build up capacity. The attention of managers and researchers alike has
been commonly directed towards assets in the sense of physical (fixed and current) and monetary
assets (optimal capital structure) of the firm in achieving this objective. Perhaps as an oversight or of
limited interest is the aspect of human

Truly Experience The Pantheon Of Ancient Rome
Truly Experience the Pantheon The Pantheon happens to be the best preserved building from the times
of Ancient Rome. Its large dome is an everlasting testimony to the architectural genius of the Romans
and the building still remains basically in tact and offers a unique opportunity for many visitors to
journey back in time to 2,000 years ago and experience the Roman glory. Atmosphere and Interior As
you make your way towards the bronze doors, and walk under the rectilinear porch, the height and
width of the building will fill your vision completely. You have plenty of room to move around and
how you see in this area. The rotunda happens to be one of the most remarkable features that the
Pantheon has, it was the biggest domed structure until 1912. The interior of the Pantheon is more
dramatic and stunning in comparison to its exterior. When you walk inside, you are bombarded with
various colours of light that reflect off of a variety of surfaces. The alcove that is just opposite the
door, is the most impressive and it touches the ceiling. It has decorative cornice and red porphyry
frieze as well as being flanked by Corinthian marble columns in a Phyrgian purple. Each of the
alcoves will have two columns in either Numidian yellow or Phyrgian purple. Each of the alcoves also
have three small areas for statues that is surrounded by seven other windows that are located on the
rotunda walls. Due to the use of concrete, the idea was that the architecture would be able to be a

The Effect Of Automatic Processes Interfering With...
Whether your mom is telling you a list of chores to do while you are watching your favorite TV show
or studying for an exam in a noisy room, these are common occurrences that may be affecting you in
ways you don t realize. What people may not know is how these instances could cause hindrances
when processing information; this is an underlying problem and has been known as interference.
When you have attention on more than one thing you may be experiencing interference and this can
inhibit cognitive processes. The effects of automatic processes interfering with controlled processes
have been known to have been tested through something called a Stroop experiment. The
revolutionary study by, Stroop (1935) used 5 different colors; purple, brown, green, blue, and red in a
color word naming task. Subjects had to say the color of the word while it was printed in different
color ink. For example, the word blue would be written in the color red. They first did this using the
colored words and then repeated the process with the words printed in black. They found that the
colored word condition suggested a 2.3s longer reaction time than the black word condition. This is
due to the inference of automatic word reading in the color word condition. Previous research also
suggests that there can be interference with the use of the symbol of an arrow or the written words
right and left in an experiment conducted by, Baldo, Shimamura, and Prinzmetal (1998). Their
findings suggested

Comparison and Contrast between Two Book Chapters
This paper will compare and contrast the contributions of Michael Dell, founder and CEO of Dell
Computer, and Andy Grove, cofounder and former CEO of Intel. The paper presents each person;
talks about their main contributions for their companies, problems they experienced, and their
similarities and differences; and concludes by discussing the factors that may have impacted their
success. The data for this paper is taken from the book, What the Best CEOs Know; 7 Exceptional
Leaders and Their Lessons for Transforming Any Business (Krames, 2003).
Introduction of Professionals and Their Contributions Michael Dell is the founder and CEO of Dell
Computer Corporation. He took Dell Computer public and the stock became the number one stock of
the 1990 s, soaring almost 90,000 percent (Krames, 2003, p. 58 59). Michael Dell expanded the direct
selling model because he believed a very close relationship with the customer and vendor would lead
to success. His philosophy basically said, Managers hoping to create successful brands cannot do it by
imposing their own views on the marketplace ... there needs to be a mechanism in place whereby the
company learns to make the products that its target customers actually want (Krames, 2003, p. 59).
With this philosophy, he built a company that continuously attempts to interact with the customer at as
many levels as possible to provide the customer with what they want at the price they want. Andy
Grove is the cofounder and former CEO of Intel.

Theories Of Personality Paper
Theories of personality, among many other theories in the field of psychology, must use some sort of
scientific basis in order for the theory or research to be looked upon by others as credible. Psychology
is the scientific study of the mind and behavior, therefore it should be crucial for theories of
personality to be evaluated according to scientific criteria. Forming a hypothesis, testing it out,
observing, racking up data it should all be used during research. There needs to always be a theory in
conjunction with research (Cloninger, S. 2013). Scientific criteria gives psychologists or reseachers a

on technology that they are not prepared for any type of service interuptions. With non disaster related

Amazon has many reports of fraud concerning both buyers and sellers. Since Amazon is only the
company who brings the two parties together, they will investigate but are not liable for fraud. The ads
that Google uses have been unknowingly infected with viruses and malware (Mills, 2010). The people
behind the Google viruses and the Amazon fraud have one goal; to steel your money. With these sites
being accessible on mobile devices, makes it that much easier to acquire. Devices such as cell phones
and laptops can make people lose focus on what they are doing. For example, in the article Tweet less,
kiss more , Bob Herbert talks about a certain female driver who almost caused an accident along the
Washington New York Highway. She was talking on her cell phone while driving recklessly by
changing lanes carelessly. That careless driving could have caused a serious accident in which could
have led to severe bodily injury or, worse, death to her or other drivers. This act shows that over
reliance on communication devices may cause people to lose concentration and focus when it is
needed the most. Technology has had a huge effect on the way people communicate. A lot of people
have gotten rid of their old wired phones in favor of only having a cell phone. A study in June 2010

A Personal Relationship Can Be A Roller Coaster Ride
A personal relationship can be a roller coaster ride. There are many choices to choose to solve a
conflict. According to Jack Gibb, there are kinds of behavior contribute to defensiveness and the
opposition.
One of Gibb s categories of defensive and supporting behavior is controlled versus problems
orientation. Control can affect relationships. One of the best examples is my relationship with my
eldest sister. My eldest sister is the breadwinner of my family. She is a second mother. However, she is
still my sister. Sometimes, she is controlling. For example, I am doing homework after I worked. She
will command Finish your homework for an hour only and clean the restroom! I will take a shower
after an hour and a half! with her eyes open, tight lipped and pouted lips. The way she communicated
seems to be striking a solution for her needs with less regard to my needs rather than finding a solution
that satisfies our needs. Hence, we fight and argue most of the time. On the other hand, my mother
would command calmly we need to do our household chores on Saturdays and Sundays when
everyone is not busy and tired. My mother created a schedule that will wash dishes every night. My
mother focused on finding solutions that will satisfy everyone s need. Therefore, my mother will not
hear any complaints and arguments around the house.

Deliquency And Juvenile Delinquency
Introduction
An estimated 70% of juveniles that are in the juvenile system have an elementary academic
achievement level, and have learning disabilities. [1]. Poor school performance, skipping school, and
dropping out at a young age are all connected to delinquency. There was an increase in the rates of
juvenile delinquency after dropping out from school [2]. Juveniles who go to school consistently and
have a strong academic performance, ideally go on to college and have a successful career and bright
future [1]. There seems to be a connection between academic performance and delinquency. It seems
that young people with a lower academic performance are more delinquent than young people with a
higher academic performance [3,4].

What is linking academic performance and delinquency together, and what kind of association do they
have with each other, is it negative or positive?
Studies suggest that improving educational performance and behavior will more than likely result in
positive outcomes. It also suggests that coming up with innovative educational strategies are the most
effective solution to improve delinquency and academic performance [2]. Educational programs
intended to address delinquency and poor academic performance that teaches self control and social
class, will probably be more successful in improving education outcomes for juvenile delinquents [2]
[7]. The purpose of this study is to find the link between academic performance and delinquency, and

Graffiti And Street Art By Christine Graff
From the early humans who painted on cave walls to the angst ridden teenager getting their kicks from
spray painting profanities on the side of a small business, human beings seem to have an intrinsic
desire to paint images on the walls that surround them. This has led to many individuals painting on
walls without permission. Although the walls cannot speak, city officials and the owners of businesses
can and when they do, Graffiti is usually one of the words used to describe the images produced.
However, although often overlooked, a line does exist between graffiti and street art. Christine Graff
writes Graffiti is defined as writing or drawings scribbled, scratched, or sprayed illicitly on a wall or

Street art is a viable way to breathe life into suffering areas of a town. A prime example of this in
action is the Wynwood Walls project started by Tony Goldman, who saw the massive empty walls of
the warehouses in the Wynwood district of Miami, Florida as massive canvases. Goldman sought to
bring the best street artists from all over the world in order to not only revitalize a mostly dead district,
but also to legitimize street art, which he felt was minimalized and often looked down upon. The area
has now become an international tourist attraction, bringing in those who wish to see the massive
murals that populate the area (About Wynwood Walls).
Another urban rejuvenation project called the Heidelberg Project, founded in 1986 by Tyree Guyton,
has become a tourist attraction and a source of local pride.
Guyton returned to Heidelberg Street and was upset at the state of his childhood home. Drugs, racism
and violence had turned the once average neighborhood into a desolate ghetto. With encouragement
from his grandfather, Guyton decided that he would take action and attempt to turn the dying
neighborhood into a thriving community. Guyton, his grandfather and the neighborhood children
worked together to clean up the neighborhood and use the objects collected during the cleanup to turn
the neighborhood into a vibrant piece of art. The project, although destroyed multiple times,

illustrate the benefits for those who have their company in consideration. According to Dale Carnegie,
he was once approached by the company that owns the grand ballroom that he lectures in. The
company said that they were going to be charging Carnegie at a higher price. Rather than speaking
from his own experience, Carnegie explained to the company how charging him more would actually
be detrimental to their company. By only speaking calmly about the company and not himself, he was
able to effectively convince the company not to overcharge him.
In my personal life, if I ever want to convince someone to do what I desire, I always lay out how it
would benefit them. When I want my friends to accompany me to places that they have no desire to go
to, I try to illustrate the

Yes, I am aware this is a Contradiction
I believe that the Broncos are going to own this football season. Yes, I believe that, but that s not my
main belief. Could I go on and on for pages and pages on that belief? You bet I could, but I m not
going to. Instead I m going to tell you why I believe I shouldn t have to write this essay. The number
one reason why I believe I shouldn t have to write this $#$#1$#$# is that I m not in school, which
means that I don t want to do anything that is work related. I just want to sit on my butt, watch movies,
be obnoxious, and maybe improve my nonexistent Call of Duty skills. Video games and I don t really
get along, in fact, besides for Guitar Hero, we never have. Instead of wasting my time here, I want to
go and obliterate some aliens or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following that we had reason number two: I ve already done this essay before. So that indeed puts us
at number three. Reason number three: I am a girl of many beliefs and therefore should not be forced
to simply choose one AGAIN. Remember, I ve had to make the decision of what belief to write about
many times before, and I nearly yanked my hair out every time. This time I m calling it quits. I refuse
to make a decision, and I refuse to write this essay. So let me perish in the flames of failure, or in
simpler terms let me fail, but forcing an indecisive girl like myself to make a decision such as this is
just plain barbaric. Welcome to the world of reason number four. Yes, that s right, I actually have more
than three reasons to support my argument. I bet I would make a decent lawyer. It s too bad the world
will be denied my arguing skills, because that s absolutely NOT the career path I choose to take. I ll
stick to my original plans, thank you very much. I would tell you, but that is not part of my argument
and would only detract from the seriousness and importance of my point. Reason number four is that
all of my beliefs really are simple. They shouldn t take much explaining. In fact, I don t know how I
managed to write all of those previous essays. If I remember right, there was a good amount of me
adding a bunch of things that didn t need to be in there, in short they were completely filled with
redundancy. These essays were very much like Stephenie

Cesar Chavez Accomplishments
Cesar Chavez was a great man who touched the lives of many, founded the National Farm Workers
Association, was willing to die for his cause as an inspiration to many. Though I myself cannot be this
prodigious man, I can certainly do my best to make him proud. Therefore, I would like you to contrive
in yourself, as I have in mine, the qualities of this great man which elicit his success. To begin, Cesar
Chavez launched his career with a community service organization, then risked his life during hunger
strikes, worked his way towards making change and ultimately succeeded in his valiant efforts by the
time of his death in 1993. First, Cesar began his career in labor organizing in 1952 when Father
Donald McDonnell and Fred Ross recruited him

All Quiet on the Western Front by Ericha Maria Remarque
I think it [war] is more of a kind of fever. No one in particular wants it, and then all at once there it is.
We didn t want the war, the others say the same thing and yet half the world is in it all the same. (206)
Erich Remarque describes how war is an odd sort of happening through Albert Kropp, one of the most
intelligent young men of Paul Bäumer s company. Remarque, himself a German World War 1 veteran,
uses the characters of Paul s company to channel his frustrations from his experiences during the war.
The vivid imagery used to describe bombardments and life at the front allows the reader to visualize
the reality of warfare. It s bloody, messy, and repulsive. Extreme detail aids Remarque in exposing the
atrocities of war, and its repercussions. All Quiet on the Western Front focuses on an anti war theme,
and how war itself has no purpose other than to be savage and wasteful.
Some aspects of the novel serve as symbol for important things Remarque would like the audience to
note. Kemmerich s boots are the most prominent example. The soft leather boots are passed down
from man to man after one dies, and it isn t thought of in depth. Kemmerich takes them from a
deceased airman, and after he dies, Müller is the owner. Paul then inherits the boots from Müller. The
footwear symbolises the nonchalance of war, and how one must remain practical. Paul realizes this as
he observes Müller hound Kemmerich for his boots. Schoolmaster Kantorek, the old teacher of Paul,

Introduction Of Mapreduce Programming Model
Introduction to MapReduce Programming Model MapReduce is a programming model and an
associated implementation for processing and generating large data sets with a parallel, distributed
algorithm on a cluster [1]. Before the introduction of MapReduce, biggest challenge in front of Google
was processing large input data and distributed computations. There was no solution for parallelizing
the computations, distributing the data, and handling failures. In order to solve these problems, Google
introduced the concept of MapReduce for parallel computation in a distributed system for synthesizing
large datasets. MapReduce programming paradigm is similar to the concept of map and reduce
primitives which are present in Lisp and many other functional languages. The input to a MapReduce
program is a (key, value) pair. The output is a set of (key, value) pairs. There are two main functions, a
map function and a reduce function. Map function takes an input (key, value) pair and produces a set
of intermediate (key, value) pairs. The MapReduce library looks for all the values of one key and
groups them together. These are then passed to reduce function. The reduce function gets an
intermediate key and all the values associated with it and merges these values together to form a
possibly smaller set of values. The original implementation of MapReduce was done by Google but
now other companies are using their own implementation of MapReduce. For example, Amazon s

Fipronil Overpopulation
Microbial population may be affected by many factors, including environmental changes and pollution
by xenobiotic chemicals. In short term experiments pesticides may stimulate, inhibit or have no effect
on microbial numbers (Lo, 2010). The effect of pesticides on the soil microbial population may
stimulate or reduced depending upon the application rate or dose of the pesticide and type of pesticide
used (Sebimo et. al., 2011). According to Kalia and Gosal (2011) the application or extensive use of
pesticides has led to a rapid decline in the quality of organic matter in soil it also affects the diversity
of microbial flora and fauna.

The inhibition of fungi growth is dependent on the chemical nature of the applied insecticide.
Inhibition of fungal growth increased with increase in pesticide rate (Zain et. al., 2013). According to
his study, significant increases in fungal growth inhibition were observed to increase in herbicide
concentration since 0.5X to 2X of its field recommended rates. The population of fungi was affected
by butachlor at high concentrations. The number of actinoomycetes declined significantly after the
application of butachlor at different concentrations ranging from 5.5 µg/g to 22 µg/g dried soil. The
decrease in the population of total bacteria due to compatative influence and the toxic effect as well as
the persistent periods of the treated pesticides in the different soils (Adhikary et.al., 2014). Fipronil
was very effective and had a significant inhibitory effect on population of bacteria, fungi and
actinomycetes of both rhizosphere and nonrhizosphere soil samples (Saramanda and Kaparapu,

The And Substance Abuse By Paula Dominguez
Introduction Paula Dominguez is a 45 year old bilingual Hispanic female. She is a single mother of
three, but all of her kids where removed from her care due to general neglect and no provision of
support. She has a history with addiction, which led to a past incarceration, but is currently in
treatment for her alcohol and substance abuse. She currently only has supervised visits with her eldest
son, Alex, but is requesting unsupervised visits and reunification services for him. Alex is 16 has a
PPLA and is currently in a group home. He was molested by his stepdad when he was 10, which

Guardianship. Carmen was considering adopting both of the younger boys, but has recently changed
her mind due to her inability to handle the boy s escalating behavioral problems. There are many
factors which are contributing to the family s need for intervention services, such as mental and
behavioral health diagnosis, substance abuse, and a history of abuse and neglect. Alternatively, there
are many strengths and protective factors this family possesses, such as a desire to remain unified as a
family, active participation in individual and family counseling, and involvement in extracurricular
activities, that the family can use to mitigate existing problems.

Propaganda and Its Effect on America Essay
Propaganda and Its Effect on America
Thesis: Propaganda was a tool that leaders used to get people involved in wars of the past.
Propaganda, a term that only reminds people of corruption and manipulation. Others, it reminds of
advertising and raising American spirit. Well, they are both right. [ Propaganda Pg. 1, sec.1]
Propaganda is a specific type of message presentation aimed at serving an agenda. At its root,
propaganda is to propagate (spread around) a certain position or point of view, rather than just
reporting the facts. Most propaganda is associated with politics or war time. It is used to help unite
countries, especially the U.S. in the past. [Pg. 1, sec. 1]

  • 2. Analysis Of Fences By August Wilson All people deal with emotions in everyday life and most will have problems controlling their emotions at some point in time. However, when emotions get out of hand people can start having problems in their daily life. In August Wilson s play Fences, he uses his piece to explain that someone unable to control their actions caused by selfish, hatred, or angry emotions will cause issues in one s personal life, general decisions, and in family life. Wilson hopes to target people who can t control their emotions and wishes to prevent the negative effects of uncontrolled actions caused by negative emotion. The inability to control one s emotions can harm their friends, decision making, and family. Wilson main reason of writing the play is to show the audience that uncontrolled emotion can be harmful in one s life. In Wilson s play, he uses the character Troy, a man who is a married man with a rough history and has anger issues. Troy personal life is heavily influenced by his emotion especially the anger from his past. Troy spends the majority of the play stating that he was unable to play baseball due to his race even though he claims to be better than the majority of players playing at the time. All through the play, Troy told Rose his wife, Cory, and Bano about how if he was white he would be a professional baseball player and how his life would be better (1.1.80 90). • 7. The Issue Of Independence From Britain Once the Americans solved the issue of independence from Britain, they were immediately confronted with another critical issue, what to do with slavery. On one hand, the South zealously supported slavery and the expansion of it. The North, on the other hand, was very much against the survival and expansion of slavery. The conflicting ideology created a problem in the new nation, through which compromises did little to remedy. This gave rise to the development of sectionalism in the states. Throughout the early development of the U.S., the main political crisis, slavery, along with a few other minor crises were bandaged with compromises, but it was not until the Compromise of 1877 that the crises were finally dealt with for good. Political divisions first came about when Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton offered a financial plan in 1790 and 1791. Hamilton s immediate goals were to establish the nation s financial stability, bring to the government s support the country s most powerful financial interests, and encourage economic development. He had a long term goal of making the U.S. a commercial and military power. Hamilton sought to achieve his goals by modeling the U.S. after Great Britain. He also created a five part program. It consisted of creating credit worthiness, creating national debt, a national bank, a tax on producers of whiskey, and the imposition of a tariff and government subsidies to encourage the development of factories that could ... Since students can be regarded as the output of the education, student financial aid also contributes to the social mobility and the improvement of economics. Federal government, state governments and institutions jointly provide the funding to certain groups of students. Among all types of financial aid, need based aid and merit based aid are most important financial aid for students. Higher Education Act of 1965 is a milestone of the development of need based aid. The Law was intended to strengthen the educational resources of our colleges and universities and to provide financial assistance for students in postsecondary and higher education. Specifically, the Pell Grant is the foundation of the federal financial aid system. While the social turbulence of the 1960s may have been the impetus behind the Pell program, the groundwork for broad based aid programs is more appropriately attributed to the GI Bill. After 1965, the Higher Education Act of 1965 was reauthorized several times to achieve the goals. Need based aid is essential for college access and success. Analysis Of Gulliver s Travels Even in today s society, jokes about the repercussions of educating women find their way into the popular culture, though they are generally very tongue in cheek. For example, in Pitch Perfect 2, a recent film, a comedic relief, narrating character says of the girls acapella performance, This is what happens when you send girls to college (Pitch Perfect 2). The character implies that when girls are given education and freedom, they will default to partaking in foolish behavior. This was a common idea in the eighteenth century as people legitimately denied women schooling based on such a concept. In the last paragraph on page 55 of Gulliver s Travels (1726), Swift comments on the education and roles of women in Lilliputian society using specific word choice and juxtaposition of male and female schooling. With this, he asserts that, while the Lilliputians regarded women with similar gender based expectations as the English, they did offer women some form of equality through the basis of education. This, of course, contrasts the treatment of women in European society which feared that female education would empower women to leave behind their traditional roles. Through his addressal of the fact that women can be educated and still succeed as mothers and wives, Swift presents that society could benefit from teaching girls basic information while still keeping them in their customary places. For instance, he comments that Chambermaids practiced common Follies (Swift 55). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Research Proposal How Human Resource Policies Influence the Performance of Medium Sized Manufacturing Firms Name: Instructor: Institution: Course: Date: How Human Resource Policies Influence the Performance of Medium Sized Manufacturing Firms 1. Introduction Globalization has created a paradigm shift in the ways by which firms conduct their business. The convergence of world economies has minimized and in some cases eliminated both legislative and geographical barriers to international production and sale of goods and services. The flip side of this process is the increased competition for world markets created especially by the threat of multinational firms to local firms (Garry Litan, 1998). Local firms must find ways to compete and survive the threat of take over and crowding out of the market by multinational producers who enjoy favorable economies of scale. This is effectively achieved by ways of in themselves creating this very economy of scale; expanding business operations helps them lower the marginal cost of production allowing them to therefore provide a favorable pricing policy within the market. In achieving the aforementioned, firms must build up capacity. The attention of managers and researchers alike has been commonly directed towards assets in the sense of physical (fixed and current) and monetary assets (optimal capital structure) of the firm in achieving this objective. Perhaps as an oversight or of limited interest is the aspect of human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Its large dome is an everlasting testimony to the architectural genius of the Romans and the building still remains basically in tact and offers a unique opportunity for many visitors to journey back in time to 2,000 years ago and experience the Roman glory. Atmosphere and Interior As you make your way towards the bronze doors, and walk under the rectilinear porch, the height and width of the building will fill your vision completely. You have plenty of room to move around and how you see in this area. The rotunda happens to be one of the most remarkable features that the Pantheon has, it was the biggest domed structure until 1912. The interior of the Pantheon is more dramatic and stunning in comparison to its exterior. When you walk inside, you are bombarded with various colours of light that reflect off of a variety of surfaces. The alcove that is just opposite the door, is the most impressive and it touches the ceiling. It has decorative cornice and red porphyry frieze as well as being flanked by Corinthian marble columns in a Phyrgian purple. Each of the alcoves will have two columns in either Numidian yellow or Phyrgian purple. Whether your mom is telling you a list of chores to do while you are watching your favorite TV show or studying for an exam in a noisy room, these are common occurrences that may be affecting you in ways you don t realize. What people may not know is how these instances could cause hindrances when processing information; this is an underlying problem and has been known as interference. When you have attention on more than one thing you may be experiencing interference and this can inhibit cognitive processes. The effects of automatic processes interfering with controlled processes have been known to have been tested through something called a Stroop experiment. The revolutionary study by, Stroop (1935) used 5 different colors; purple, brown, green, blue, and red in a color word naming task. Subjects had to say the color of the word while it was printed in different color ink. For example, the word blue would be written in the color red. They first did this using the colored words and then repeated the process with the words printed in black. They found that the colored word condition suggested a 2.3s longer reaction time than the black word condition. This is due to the inference of automatic word reading in the color word condition. Previous research also suggests that there can be interference with the use of the symbol of an arrow or the written words right and left in an experiment conducted by, Baldo, Shimamura, and Prinzmetal (1998). Therefore, I would like you to contrive in yourself, as I have in mine, the qualities of this great man which elicit his success. To begin, Cesar Chavez launched his career with a community service organization, then risked his life during hunger strikes, worked his way towards making change and ultimately succeeded in his valiant efforts by the time of his death in 1993. First, Cesar began his career in labor organizing in 1952 when Father Donald McDonnell and Fred Ross recruited him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. All Quiet on the Western Front by Ericha Maria Remarque I think it [war] is more of a kind of fever. No one in particular wants it, and then all at once there it is. We didn t want the war, the others say the same thing and yet half the world is in it all the same. (206) Erich Remarque describes how war is an odd sort of happening through Albert Kropp, one of the most intelligent young men of Paul Bäumer s company. Remarque, himself a German World War 1 veteran, uses the characters of Paul s company to channel his frustrations from his experiences during the war. The vivid imagery used to describe bombardments and life at the front allows the reader to visualize the reality of warfare. It s bloody, messy, and repulsive. Extreme detail aids Remarque in exposing the atrocities of war, and its repercussions. All Quiet on the Western Front focuses on an anti war theme, and how war itself has no purpose other than to be savage and wasteful. Some aspects of the novel serve as symbol for important things Remarque would like the audience to note. Kemmerich s boots are the most prominent example. The soft leather boots are passed down from man to man after one dies, and it isn t thought of in depth. Kemmerich takes them from a deceased airman, and after he dies, Müller is the owner. Paul then inherits the boots from Müller. The footwear symbolises the nonchalance of war, and how one must remain practical. Paul realizes this as he observes Müller hound Kemmerich for his boots. Schoolmaster Kantorek, the old teacher of Paul, serves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Introduction Of Mapreduce Programming Model Introduction to MapReduce Programming Model MapReduce is a programming model and an associated implementation for processing and generating large data sets with a parallel, distributed algorithm on a cluster [1]. Before the introduction of MapReduce, biggest challenge in front of Google was processing large input data and distributed computations. There was no solution for parallelizing the computations, distributing the data, and handling failures. In order to solve these problems, Google introduced the concept of MapReduce for parallel computation in a distributed system for synthesizing large datasets. MapReduce programming paradigm is similar to the concept of map and reduce primitives which are present in Lisp and many other functional languages. The input to a MapReduce program is a (key, value) pair. The output is a set of (key, value) pairs. There are two main functions, a map function and a reduce function. Map function takes an input (key, value) pair and produces a set of intermediate (key, value) pairs. The MapReduce library looks for all the values of one key and groups them together. These are then passed to reduce function. The reduce function gets an intermediate key and all the values associated with it and merges these values together to form a possibly smaller set of values. The original implementation of MapReduce was done by Google but now other companies are using their own implementation of MapReduce. For example, Amazon s Amazon Elastic ... • 48. Fipronil Overpopulation Microbial population may be affected by many factors, including environmental changes and pollution by xenobiotic chemicals. In short term experiments pesticides may stimulate, inhibit or have no effect on microbial numbers (Lo, 2010). The effect of pesticides on the soil microbial population may stimulate or reduced depending upon the application rate or dose of the pesticide and type of pesticide used (Sebimo et. al., 2011). According to Kalia and Gosal (2011) the application or extensive use of pesticides has led to a rapid decline in the quality of organic matter in soil it also affects the diversity of microbial flora and fauna. The highest count of heterotrophic bacteria was recorded for the concentration of 1000ppm. A large number of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The inhibition of fungi growth is dependent on the chemical nature of the applied insecticide. Inhibition of fungal growth increased with increase in pesticide rate (Zain et. al., 2013). According to his study, significant increases in fungal growth inhibition were observed to increase in herbicide concentration since 0.5X to 2X of its field recommended rates. The population of fungi was affected by butachlor at high concentrations. The number of actinoomycetes declined significantly after the application of butachlor at different concentrations ranging from 5.5 µg/g to 22 µg/g dried soil. The decrease in the population of total bacteria due to compatative influence and the toxic effect as well as the persistent periods of the treated pesticides in the different soils (Adhikary et.al., 2014). Fipronil was very effective and had a significant inhibitory effect on population of bacteria, fungi and actinomycetes of both rhizosphere and nonrhizosphere soil samples (Saramanda and Kaparapu, ...
