Essay on Td Canada Trust
TD Canada Trust
Executive Summary After the completion of a mega merger, TD Canada Trust seeks to reposition the
brand in order to retain customers and realize steady revenue growth. To examine the investment
return of the new brand campaign comfortable banking , Executive VP Armstrong led his team
developed a linkage analysis system and proposed a new branch incentive plan. This essay aims to
evaluate the linkage analysis model and its effectiveness, also to comment on the incentive plan based
on results of linkage analysis .
The Merger between the Green and the Red
In 1999, an $8 billion mega merger between TD Bank and Canada Trust lifted the former fifth largest
commercial bank to its third largest place. The former ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The immediate purpose that Armstrong has set for the linkage analysis is to measure the impact that
specific enhancements for reductions of key customer satisfaction drivers would have on branches
financial performance. From a technical point of view, the regression model is well developed with the
data provided. Each factor s weighed impact to the final gross contribution is indicated in the results.
Interpretation of the linkage analysis results
While the process of model development may seem compelling, major flaws exists in the linkage
analysis , diminishing its credibility.
Armstrong s team used branch level data from the CSI system as the primary source of research. As a
result the concept of comfortable banking is directly translated into customers satisfaction during their
interaction with tellers in the bank, since almost every criteria in the CSI is measuring representative
service behaviors. One thing that the team failed to see is that comfortable banking could include a
much wider scope of services that customers value therefore consider important to their experience:
the products itself and services provided outside the bank for instance. According to Armstrong,
comfortable banking positioning stands for the branding of the overall experience TD Canada Trust
delivers to its clients. The financial products, as the core business of any banks throughout the world,
should be counted as part of the service, too.

Abutment Teeth
Proper selection of abutment teeth is an important component of removable partial dentures (RPDs)
design and should account for the need of abutment teeth to withstand forces (vertical, horizontal and
torque) normally directed towards the missing teeth as well as the abutment teeth itself. This essay
will focus on the periodontal considerations when selecting abutment teeth for the RPD.
Chronic periodontitis is a slowly progressive inflammatory disease that results in the destruction of
periodontium (Armitage and Cullinan, 2010, Shaddox and Walker, 2010). It is characterized by
clinical attachment greater than or equal to 5mm and radiographic evidence of alveolar bone loss
(Cabanilla, Neely and Hernandez, 2008). Teeth with active periodontal ... Show more content on

Due to the higher than usual occlusal forces transmitted to the abutment through the prosthesis,
clinician must evaluate the abutment teeth carefully .Several studies have reported unfavorable
outcomes of abutment teeth compared to that of non abutment teeth, with the survival rate of abutment
teeth reported to be significantly lower than non abutment teeth (Tada et al., 2013, Wagner and Kern,
2000). A study following a group patients for 5 years found that of the total abutment teeth lost, 42%
were due to periodontal disease (Tada et al., 2013). Another study reported tooth loss of 18.8%
attributable to periodontal complications (Cabanilla et al., 2008). It is postulated that the horizontal
and lateral stress transmitted to the abutment teeth may lead to breakdown of periodontium and
increase tooth mobility (Jorge et al., 2006). While there may be disparities in the findings, both studies
have shown the possible periodontal complications related to RPDs. It has been shown that RPDs
enhance plaque formation and retention especially on tooth surface in direct contact with denture
thereby increasing the risk of adverse periodontal reactions (Petridis and Hempton, 2000). This
quantitative change in dental biofilm has been shown to be associated with an increased PD and
bleeding on probing

Catastrophe Research Paper
When an epidemic or catastrophe affects a community or nation depending on the resilience of the the
community there can be different outputs that help limit the aftermaths of the disaster. How the group
of people respond or deal with the situation at hand will have a big impact on how it will affect their
lives moving on. As humans the direr the situation we find ourselves in, the more likely we are to
make a rush or unsound decision. These decisions shape how our lives may be impacted moving on
whether for the duration of the catastrophe or many years to come. When the black death hit Europe in

The situation was so dire that almost everyone expected death and did not care about any mortal
possession. In some places, people shut themselves in their homes to prevent contact with other people
to prevent themselves from coming into contact with those affected. Some farmers let go of their
livestock and farms they left ripe wheat uncut because they felt there was no need as the world was
coming to an end. Even family members and kinsfolk forsook each other as if their ties meant or blood
meant nothing, parents abandon their children everyone was on their own. To make matter worse the
physicians and doctors that were trying to treat the disease where dying before they could even
diagnose it in some cases the doctors died even before the patients they were treating this made many
doctors flee or shut themselves in their homes. Family members and beloved people were dying and
there were not even graves nor mass graves to bury them nor did anyone shed a tear. The Europeans
lost hope sympathy and empathy among themselves. To make matters worse they had no one to look
up to as Priest refuse to come to hearing of those dying in fear of death and notaries refused to make
wills of those that were dying. Also, monarch and nobles that ruled them fled to safe haven cut off

13-In-1 Research Paper
A handheld tool set with multiple tools is great to have for around the home, while out biking or
camping. You won t have to worry about something breaking down and not having the right tools for
the job. Nobody carries a toolbox out with them on a bike ride, but a tool for repairs is essential.
Around the Home
It s handy to have a Snap On tool for repairs like the 870456 13 in 1 Multi function Tool. While you re
home, you could dig through your toolbox for the correct tool, but it s easier to have everything you
need in one piece. For example, the 13 in 1 has stainless steel tools like a small knife, an awl and two
screwdrivers. This is a tool you can carry in your pocket while you walk around the home making
small, maintenance repairs.

Truck Drivers
Truck drivers or truckers are considered transporters because their work entails driving container loads
of various products to designated locations. Trucking companies ensure that people living in remote
areas get the supplies they need for daily living. This means truck drivers put in long hours, face
season changes the best way that they can and brave the rather insecure nature of their trade to meet
their deadlines.
Qualifications for Truck Driving
1.CDL For you to apply for trucking company jobs you must acquire a Commercial Driver s License
(CDL) which permits you to operate a commercial motor vehicle. Commercial motor vehicles weigh
26, 000 pounds or higher while the vehicle in tow should weigh more than 10,000 pounds. A more
inclusive definition of commercial motor vehicles incorporates school buses, vehicles carrying sixteen
or more passengers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If your CDL classification is Class A, you need your own insurance because you will most probably
qualify for local truck driving company jobs. Class B and C CDL may guarantee you CDL trucking
jobs like driving a tour bus or school bus and your employer may provide insurance as a work benefit
which is an advantage.
3.Physique There is physical labor involved while working for trucking company jobs such as loading
and unloading of supplies and fixing small mechanical problems that arise while you are on the road.
It would be prudent to ensure you prepare your body through lifting weights and strength training.
Types of Trucking Company Jobs
You can choose from various trucking company jobs such as a heavy tractor trailer truck driver with a
high school education and a CDL or an oil field truck driver, who sometimes hauls hazardous
materials and attracts a higher salary due to the dangerous nature of the work.
Other truck driving jobs include:

Skellig Essay Questions
Skellig Essay
Analyse the themes of imagination, belief and disbelief in the novel.
Skellig, a novel by David Almond, is something rare; something that encapsulates the fleeting nature
of childhood. Almond uses many different literary techniques to achieve this, and I will be focusing on
and discussing three of the most prominent: imagination, belief and disbelief, throughout my essay.
Using these themes as a base, Almond incorporates many controversial topics into the book, making a
statement about his own beliefs and disbeliefs, and leaves the rest up to the reader s imagination.
Imagination takes its hold in the reader s brain from page one, and continues to keep the readers mind
on edge all the way through to the very last page. A true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

She said. I m drawing, painting, reading, looking. I m feeling the sun and the air on my skin. I m

who has an abundance of opinions, someone who fills her conversations with poetry, and things she
has learnt. She is the one who teaches Michael about the Archaeopteryx, about sculpting, drawing,
William Blake, and about friendship. As Michael and Mina have to choose to believe their eyes when
they see Skellig s true form, and to keep helping him without any parental or adult supervision What is

The negative effects can be seen in that competition for jobs in American society is so competitive that
author John Michael Roberts asserts that people, Work for free (28). While Americans tend to believe
that competition brings out the best in people, the Marxist theory states that it actually brings out the
worst in people such as greed, selfishness, and unethical actions. This can be seen by how the
characters of The Lesson and Callie s family are living in extreme poverty despite being in the richest
nations in the world. Danzinger and Danzinger assert, The child poverty rate in the US is high in
relation to the rate in other industrialized countries (57). This high poverty rate can be seen in The

the richest states in the United States. Miss Moore sees that it is unjust for kids to be living in such
poverty and says, Imagine for a minute what kind of society it is in which some people spend on a toy
what it would cost to feed a family of six or seven ( The Lesson , Bambara 151). While some people
get rich off competing, some get left behind and many times the ones that do get ahead had to do
something unethical. Sylvia notices all of the unethical practices it takes to get ahead in a competitive

The Improvisational Brain By Amanda Martinez
Learning to create music or a speech spontaneously is not an easy task. Any professional musician will
say that improvisation is not as easy as just making it up as one goes along. In fact, the musicians that
make improvisation look simple are the ones who have put in countless hours of time and study to
make it look effortless. The Improvisational Brain by Amanda Martinez tells about a neuroscientist
that studied the science behind how the brain works in order to improvise. In order to be able to be a
good improviser, one must learn to shut down the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and let the creativity
and skill take over. What about those that have limited ability? Should they learn to improvise as well?
One would argue that it is not important to learn to improvise, whether it be music or otherwise.
However, improvising can give a person a sense of freedom from the ordinary. This notion of trying to
tell your own story, without the constraints of caring how well it s going as you re saying it, was really
pretty intriguing (Martinez p. 7). Although many struggle being able to shut down the part of your
brain that allows one to improvise, it is important to teach children and adults alike how to improvise
because it teaches creativity, divergent thinking, and encourages better communication skills.
Improvising is defined by Merriam Webster dictionary as, to make, invent, or arrange offhand. A
classical pianist, Robert Levin said of improvisation, It s an act of

The Brand Of Soap And New Delhi By Recording Signals Using...
Abstract The aim of this research work is to classify the most favored brand of soap in New Delhi by
recording signals using wireless EEG through Neuromarketing. A set of four major soap brand
advertisements i.e. Pears, Lux, Cinthol and Dove are considered for this research. The advertisement
(video) of above these brands are used to stimulate the subjects (9 male and 9 female with age range
of 22 30 years) The response of the brain for the stimuli were composed using a 14 channel wireless
headset which has a sampling frequency of about 128 Hz. The recorded signals are processed using
fourth order Butterworth band pass filter. Then feature extraction is done to extract desired features
from the EEG signal. The mean value and then power of mean value of each soap brand is calculated.
The frequency spectrum of above soap brands is obtained through time frequency analysis using Short
Time Fourier Transform (STFT).The results so obtained are plotted in graphs for final analysis. The
present experimental results are analysed and it is indicated that the subjects are mostly inspired on

Resilience Across Lifespan
Resilience across a lifespan can happen different ways from physical development to cognitive
development. We also have social and emotional development. Throughout this paper resilience will
be applied to all of the above mentioned concepts. Resilience across a lifespan is described through
theories, measures, and even personality characteristics. Resilience has also been applied to the
impacts of disasters and traumatic experiences in which will also be touched on throughout this paper.
Resilience is described as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy,
threats, or significant sources of stress (American Psychological Association, 2016). Resilience is an
ordinary thing in human beings. It is often described as bouncing back, which refers to bouncing back
from difficult times or situations. As a person grows older resilience grows as well. A person s past
can most certainly affect how a person uses resiliency in the present. If a person is not affected
negatively a lot in their past when it comes time for a person to bounce back, they will not bounce
back as smoothly as a person who has had a very traumatic past and has learned how to bounce back
in a smoother fashion. A person s past determines their resiliency in the present and a person s present
determines their resiliency efforts in the future. Resiliency is different for each and every person.
Resiliency also can grow with a person or can dissipate

Monster Vs. Monsters In Beowulf
Monsters vs. Monsters Fear, hate, feeling unwanted, being lonely, disliked, or even being called ugly

that are dead. Here, today there are several reasons that evil compels each individual, but the main one
is because humans are so sinful. We live in a world where evil is so popular, which people don t think
about.the harm it will cause they just go overlook it and go on about their day. Today s society also

Informative Speech About Transgender
Save it for me, Jesus! Don t let me die, Lord. Don t let me die! The old woman prompted up on her
elbows and scooted as fast as she could towards the table, but the transgender rushed past her. Oh,

and puffed while looking at the ceiling. The fight continued on without her. Have mercy, Jesus.
Knowing she needed the syringe to walk out of that room alive, she tried to get back into the fierce

you have given me the authority to tread on these serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the

the businessman and rushed past him to get under the table. The businessman reached for his shirt, but
grabbed his hair and pulled, his wig came off. He freaked out, threw the wig to the side and grabbed

The Causes And Impacts Of The International Space Station
The International Space Station commonly known as the (ISS) is a large spacecraft that orbits around
Earth. This space station serves as a home for the crews of astronauts and cosmonauts. The space
station is also a unique science laboratory. Several nations such as Canada, Japan, the Russian

Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United

SeaWorld had again brought heartbreak to a mother from breeding with Kohana. Former SeaWorld
Trainer John Hargrove wrote a book about SeaWorld and working there. Hargrove stated, within five
years of her stay in Loro Parque, Kohana had given birth twice and twice had rejected her calves. Her
second rejected calf died within its first year. Kohana was too young when she was separated from
Takara to have fully learned what orca motherhood entails. (Hargrove 156). It is enthralling how
SeaWorld has created three horrible lives; Kohana, who gave birth too young, and her two calves she
rejected, one of which whom died, because SeaWorld wanted to make more money by renting them.
These are living creatures and SeaWorld is treating them as if they are merchandise, renting them
across the world, pasting their faces onto shirts and mugs.
SeaWorld continued to hurt more mothers and calves. Hargrove states, 19 calves were taken from their

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Epilepsy
Business Understanding
According to World Health Organisation (2017), around 50 million people worldwide have epilepsy.
Unfortunately, epilepsy cannot be cured, but could be controlled by pharmacological or electrical
treatment based on seizure prediction (Moghim Corne, 2014). Since EEG has advantages such as
speed, high time resolution and non invasive natures, it maintains one of the most frequently used
tools in predicting epilepsy (Hasan et al. 2017).
Electroencephalography (EEG) has a broad use in both medical practices and medical research for
diagnosing and identifying epileptic seizures, syncope (fainting), cognitive psychologies, and
psychophysiological research (Niedermever, 2004). Commonly used in identifying epilepsy, the EEG
helps the doctors to distinguish types of seizures, the reasons to trigger the seizures and also the
treatment needed. Types of EEG are different according to test aims, facilities, medical and patients
situations, and are generally separated into 4 types: Routine EEG, Sleep EEG, Ambulatory EEG and
Video EEG. All of the types would record electrical activities of the brain, investigate their potential
fluctuations and brain waves, and perform analysis to convert the data into useful information in
identifying the seizures. Usually, the EEG test will last for 20 to 40 minutes, and will be conducted by
attaching scalp with the electrodes which are connected to an EEG recording machine (NHS, 2017).
There are three main cases to be solved in this project. First is to identify whether an EEG showing
seizure or not. Second is to identify the 5 categories of EEG. Third is to identify the classification of
EEG, whether it is indicating healthy brain activity, potential epileptic seizure or actual epileptic
seizure.
Data Understanding
The given data set contains fields such as ID, X1 to X178 which represents the 1 second EEG result
and y which represents the EEG type. This data set will be used for model generation. The data set
contains no missing values and distributed nicely with sufficient number of rows for creating models.
In addition, all the field in the data set is essential for the model generation, this implies that all fields
will be used. However, there will be

Descartes And Hume Essay
There are three ways in which one is able to find truth: through reason (A is A), by utilizing the senses
(paper burns) or by faith (God is all loving). As the period of the Renaissance came to a close, the
popular paradigm for philosophers shifted from faith to reason and finally settling on the senses.
Thinkers began to challenge authorities, including great teachers such as Aristotle and Plato, and
through skepticism the modern world began. The French philosopher, René Descartes who
implemented reason to find truth, as well as the British empiricist David Hume with his usage of
analytic synthetic distinction, most effectively utilized the practices of skepticism in the modern
world.
René Descartes was the first philosopher to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For in Descartes terms, it was plausible to doubt that one has a body, but impossible to doubt the
existence of one s mind; therefore ...self and mind must be identical (Palmer 162).
Hume on the other hand, took a different approach to the idea of self. He believed that there in fact
was no such thing as selfhood. Instead he asserts that it must be some one impression, that gives rise
to every real idea. But self...is not any one impression, but that to which our several impressions and
ideas are supposed to have a reference... (597). By this he implies that in order to form concrete ideas,
ones impressions of pain, pleasure, joy, etc. must be invariable throughout time. This, Hume states, we
know without a doubt to be impossible. Passions succeed each other over time and give rise to new
passions, therefore ...it cannot be from any of these impressions...that the idea of self is derived, and
consequently there is no such idea (597).
Although like Descartes, Hume practiced the art of radical skepticism, he felt that if he could not
utilize his senses to prove something it was meaningless. Hume continued development of Leibniz s
analytical synthetic distinction, or in Hume s words ...a distinction between relations of ideas and
matters of fact (Palmer 197). Analytical propositions are true by definition and are a priori, and
therefore necessarily true. Synthetic propositions are not true by

Oral Tradition Paper
It was the intention of this paper to situate The Oral Tradition Workshop for Educators and other
intercultural programs in Esmeraldas into the greater context of intercultural educational programs
globally. First, it aimed to illustrate that intercultural education is often a response to long standing
historical, political, and economic marginalization of one group by the dominate culture. For Afro
Ecuadorians, as in the cases of Europe and Latin America, the focus on intercultural education
emerged as a response to historical marginalization after the amendment to the constitution in 1998
calling for expanded collective rights of indigenous groups and Afro Ecuadorian. At the heart of
intercultural education programs is the assumption that the school and its key actors (students,
educators, administrators) play a critical role in eradicating inequality and negotiating spaces between
cultures (Aikman, 1997). This belief is evident in all of the cases presented in the paper as well as the

These policies have left Afro Ecuadorians disproportionally poorer and less educated than other
groups in Ecuador. Thus, policy leaders intended to improve these conditions through inclusive
education policies that recognize the significance of the contributions of Afro Ecuadorians in the
national discourse.
The TTOA workshop is an example of this initiative. The decision to use the TTOA workshop to
explore the development of intercultural programs in the region is due to the fact that, in many ways,
the program is a replica of other intercultural education initiatives in the region. First, Juan Garcia, a
pioneer of Afro Ecuadorian educational programs, created it. It also aimed to emphasize the
historically, political, and economic significance of Afro Ecuadorians in the larger context of

AP Biology Lab Report: How the Amount of Motor Oil Affects Hatching Viability of Brine Shrimp
Eggs
Question
How does the amount of motor oil in the environment of a brine shrimp affect the hatching viability of
brine shrimp eggs?
Hypothesis
If hatching viability is affected by the amount of motor oil in the environment of the brine shrimp
eggs, then when the amount of motor oil is increased the hatching viability will decrease.
Experimental Design
The independent variable was the amount of motor oil in 2% salt solution because it is the variable
that was being tested and purposefully manipulated. The dependent variable was the hatching viability
of the brine shrimp tested (which was calculated by adding the number of brine shrimp swimming at
24 hours to the number of brine shrimp swimming at 48 hours, and then divided by the total number
of eggs initially placed in the petri dish). The control group was a petri dish of brine shrimp in 30 ml
of 2% salt solution with no motor oil. The constants, or variables that need to be controlled, were the
salinity percentage of the salt solution (2%), the amount of salt solution in each petri dish (30 ml), the
total time the brine shrimp were left in the petri dishes (48 hours), and the frequency of when the brine
shrimp were checked (every 24 hours).
Procedure
Materials:
Approximately 100 brine shrimp eggs
Scissors
Pipet
Paintbrush

Southern Gothic Lit In Fried Green Tomatoes
How Southern Gothic Lit. in Fried Green Tomatoes helps you find your inner Tawanda Southern
gothic lit is a writing genre from the south, which means that stories that are written under this format
usually focus on grotesque themes. The writing usually focuses in characters that are in pain or that

or unusual events. For example in Desiree s baby the writer makes it seem like the girl is the one that s
not full white and it causes her pain seeing that her husband doesn t lover her or their baby because
she is not full white, but in reality he s the one that s not full white, and the pain he caused her could

The Frontiers of American History in Last Child of the...
In the second chapter of Last Child of the Woods, Richard Louv makes the claim that there have been
three frontiers in the course of American history. The first phase was the original frontier, before the
Industrial Revolution. This was the time of the prairie schooner, the cowboy, the herds of bison that
were thousands strong. This was a rough, hard time, when man and nature were constantly thrown
together. There was wilderness to spare, and people were willing to move West to get to it. The second
phase came into being after the Industrial Revolution. Land that was available to homesteaders had
run out. Yet the American people still considered themselves frontier explorers. Times had been trying
during the Westward Expansion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only are they taught that building things outside are bad, but because of the disappearance of
natural spaces within cities, nature is not as accessible to kids. This leads to what Louv calls, Nature
Deficit Disorder, the lack of relationship between children and nature.
Richard Louv uses Logos in several different ways throughout this selection. He collects research
from many different studies, interviews parents, and finds sources from history. In his second chapter
especially, he uses numerous examples of scientific experiments to back his point that people really do
not have an adequate realization of the difference between humans and animals. In his third chapter,
he conducted an interview with a parent who had moved to a certain neighborhood because of the
abundance of outdoor areas. Louv uses this interview to illustrate his point that even if nature is
available, it really is not supposed to be used for unstructured recreation. In his second chapter, he
draws on U.S. Census Bureau reports to illustrate the decline of the family farm. He uses historical
events and ideas to show his idea of the romanticizing of the American frontier. Through these
concrete examples, he is able to persuade the reader that his ideas and theories are valid. I think that
Louv is right in his opinion that kids are losing touch with nature. This epidemic is not just in big
cities, but wherever technology has a hold. Technology has become

Luncheon Grass
This paper will be a visual description of Luncheon on the Grass (Musée d Orsay), an oil painting
made by a leading French artist in the transition from realism to impressionism Édouard Manet, in
1863. A horizontal composition of 208 cm x 264.5 cm, the painting represents a luncheon in the forest.
In the foreground of the painting there are two men and a woman having lunch. While they are
casually having lunch, the two men are fully dressed, while the woman is fully naked, however, her
hand rests on her leg, hiding her pubic area. She is wearing an orchid in her hair, a bracelet, a ribbon
around her neck, and mule slippers. The man on the right is wearing a black flat round hat, a black
jacket, a white shirt, an orange tie, grey trousers and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the foreground, in front of them, there are the woman s clothes, a basket of fruit, and a round loaf of
bread. In the background, there is another woman barely dressed in a white dress who is bathing in a
stream. She is too large compared to the rest of the people in the scene which makes her look like she
s floating above them. There is a small boat farther on her right. The luncheon takes place in nature
where the figures are surrounded by trees and grass, however, the roughly painted background lacks
depth and the perspective is ignored giving the viewer the impression that the scene is more suggested
than painted and that it does not take place in an outdoor, but in a studio. This impression is reinforced
by an unrefined light that casts no shadows. Nevertheless, flat application of color, and lack of subtle
gradation are obvious in the painting. Manet did not hide the brushstrokes on purpose, there are even
some parts that look unfinished. Moreover, although there are some elements of fore shortening in the
painting, they are still misplaced. All of this adds together to make the viewer feel that the painting is

The Speech-Language Pathology Strategic Planning Committee
Over the past year, I have been involved in several committees at the department and college levels.
When I began my service at UDC, I was a member of the Faculty Senate for two years. This allowed
me to learn the university culture and the importance of shared governance. Thereafter, the
committees in which I volunteered to serve were, not only interdisciplinary and collaborative, but
were those that served the needs of students. For example, in the past, I served as a member of the
College of Arts and Sciences Grievance Committee which met as needed to resolve instructor/student
conflicts. My colleagues on the Committee were representatives of every division in the College. The

The charge of this committee was to make recommendations regarding the programs mission, vision,
strategic initiatives, curricular changes and/or adjustments. Additionally, the SPC identifies critical
strategic issues facing the program and provides recommendations of alternative strategic options.
Even though, we all must remain current with trends in the profession, advances in evidence based
practices, and the needs of all stakeholders of speech language pathology, it falls to the SPC to provide
recommendations relative to those market trends, the needs of the community program and making the
program more viable and competitive than it is presently. Therefore, the SPC is mandated to develop
measureable strategic goals for development and implementation for five year interim periods. In the
beginning of the academic year, the SPC met with faculty and staff to review the current strategic plan
and to map out potential changes and future goals that the SPC will formulate. As a former SLP
program director, I am well familiar with past goals of the program (since I drafted them), including
curricular changes, teaching and employment needs as well as needs of the students as they progress
through their matriculation. Additionally, as a former program director I managed the elimination of
the undergraduate division of the program and wrote a monograph recommending a doctoral program
in speech language pathology to be created once the university forms an infrastructure to
accommodate such a program. As always, the strategic plan is student driven. Those goals that ensure
students are ready to take the board examination (PRAXIS), are ready for employment and patient
engagement are the primary concerns of the SCP. As a former coordinator/program director and
current associate professor, researcher and clinical consultant, student needs are considered

Unrealistic Expectations Of Social Media
Magazines have been constantly blamed for portraying an unrealistic expectation of what a women s
body should look like. Now with technology and the creation of Tumblr, Instagram, and YouTube
many people are finding it difficult to have a healthy mentality of themselves. Social media can affect
the relationship a person has with themselves compared to others. Examples of this are the creation of
unrealistic body image expectations, setting a high bar on goals and a portrayal of extravagant
unrealistic lifestyles. Instagram, a social media with 300 million users, has caused many people to

Whether it is in a person s career, their relationships, or their social lives, humans want more. And as
any other goal, if a person is unable to reach it, they beat themselves up, which leads to an unhealthy
mental stability. For example, recently a famous Instagram 18 year old blogger named Essena O Neill,
proclaimed that she was going to quit social media. In her YouTube video, which now has millions of
view, she explained the reality behind all her photos. All those photos of me in the beach, smiling, and
enjoying myself were fake. I spent hours posing, sucking in my stomach, and acting happy but I was
actually miserable, she states. Essena furthermore explains how when she was 16, she saw happiness
as having millions of followers on Instagram like her role models. Essena, was well known for her
Instagram pictures of her in a bikini, her expensive dinners, and her thin figure. She was very popular
along teenage girls, which looked up to her for fitness tips. But Essena explained that she was actually
binge eating to maintain her thin figure. Besides her strict calorie restrictions, she proclaimed that she
would save photos of models and use them as inspiration. A lot of times, the things that a person post
on social media, are not true. Not only did Essena tackle the truth behind Instagram photos but also
exposed the reality behind a lot of online relationships. Essena, explained how she believed a model

Merit-Based Appraisal
Should colleges continue to award merit based aid or only award need based aid?
As I reading Ch. 10 I found myself going back and forth on this topic. Merit based is great because
those who work really hard in high school and show the discipline to put their future before video
games, or just hanging out all with friends all of the time deserve the opportunity to go to college. And
with the rising cost of some of these institutions, even if they are considered middle class or higher,
they may not be able to afford it. Not everyone s parents agree with what career choice they make
which leads to these kids striking it out on their own.

The Growth Of Early Los Angeles
To tell the story of the growth of early Los Angeles it is necessary to visit the culturally significant
union station in old downtown on Alameda street. The buildings owes it begging to the American
phenomenon of the railroad, the institution that allowed for American expansion into the modern era
and more specifically the growth of the west coast metropolis of Los Angeles that prior was just a
small Spanish town. Just across the street from the Avila adobe, one of the first and oldest existing
Spanish settlements in L.A., lays Union station, a building that holds on to the city s Spanish roots
through Spanish mission style architecture. At the time of its erection, the building not only told the
story of the small Spanish town that Los Angeles was but also hinted at the industrial metropolis that
Los Angeles would be through the art deco language. Through the fine usage and mixture of elements
at a macro and micro scale, Union Station successfully mixes the two languages of Art Deco modern
and Spanish mission style to form a landmark that is a remnant of a significant transitional period in
LA s history. Just like many other U.S cities during the early 20th century los angles experienced a
period of unprecedented industrial growth and population increase that followed. Furthermore there
was the need for a transportation hub that would serve as a common stop for vital transcontinental rail
lines that supported the city s industry, which included the Union Pacific

After climbing the fence I used to walk or run to my house. After getting home, I usually took a quick
nap, then enjoy the day watching cartoons. This cartoon where shows like Clifford, what s New
Scooby Doo, Ed Edd n Eddy, Codename Kids Next Door, Johnny Bravo, Static Shock, Justice
League, Samurai Jack, Top Cat, Robot Boy etc. While watching the cartoons I used to mimic what the
characters were saying. Some examples when I watch Ed, Edd n Eddy I used say phrases like dork,
sockhead, Son of a Shepherd .... Ironically this how I learned how to speak, write, and read English, as
well as draw. Sometimes for the fun of it, I used to draw cartoon characters because I like how they
look. I sat down, grabbed a random paper, crayons and draw what I remembered about a character.
This where my passion for drawing came from. Unfortunately, not everyone agrees with my method
since they found it was considered ditching. I sent multiple times to Mrs. Rodriquez office and she
always asks me Why do I ditch or How do it . I replied I just climb the fence and because is boring.
My used to come to the office as I waited for her in an empty room. The principle would tell me that
she was worried about me since she believed I wasn t learning, and she gave my mom statistics stating
if I keep this behavior at an early age I would end up dropping out in the future and possibly
incarcerated. I never believe this

External Stakeholders And Financial Information
For my final paper, the topic that I have chosen is how external stakeholders use financial information
to make decisions in a company. One thing that I have noticed is that you cannot tell if a company is at
its best or its worse. Loan companies, banks and are eager to see where companies match up against
other competitors. These companies take the most risk by investing money into units that are not
started, maintained, or organized by themselves. Many factors can come into play when stakeholders
are looking to make a decision on where to place their money. Those factors may include items that
are being sold or produced, the message the company has to offer, etc. More importantly, stakeholders
use financial information to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are people and companies that may have an interest in what goes on with known businesses or
companies. Stakeholder s main interests are profit growth and dividends because their goal is to get a
return on the money they invested. Investors are stakeholders that buy shares in a company.
(Baskerville, May 2011). Their primary interest in knowing that the company is doing well so that
they can put their money into the company for a greater return. Lenders are external stakeholders who
lend money to that enterprise on either a short or a long term basis usually charging a fee or interest to
make some money in return. Lenders are regularly composed of banks or other types of financial
institutions. Suppliers are also interested in how a company is doing because they want to make sure
that they will get paid for their products and services at a later time. Customers are stakeholders that
want to know the financial strength of a company because they want to know that their supplier is
going to be a dependable source. Competitors are also financial stakeholders because they have a need
to know where their companies lie in the market and the only way to see that is by comparing their
group to others. Media plays an important part as external stakeholders because they use the
information to publish in their mass communications outlets (Baskerville, May 2011). Labor unions
although are not interesting in putting their money into a business they

Heart Disease And Stroke Research Paper
Heart disease and stroke are among the widespread and costly health problems being faced by our
society today. According to World Health Organization, an estimated 17 million people die of
cardiovascular diseases every year, particularly heart attacks and strokes. Cardiovascular diseases are
also the leading cause of death or severe disability in the United States of America. In relation to this,
various organizations have been established for health improvement and safety of the public. One of
these organizations is the American Heart Association or AHA, which was formerly known as

The Effect Of Endometriosis On Vitro Fertilization
The Effect of Endometriosis on In Vitro Fertilization By: Brittany Pangilinan Abstract The success of
in vitro fertilization treatment is compromised when a patient is suffering from endometriosis.
Endometriosis creates scar tissue and adhesions on the women s ovaries and other reproductive
structures preventing the joining of the egg and sperm during fertilization. In vitro fertilization was
created in 1977 to manually join the egg and sperm in hope of fertilization in patients who cannot
conceive on their own. Researchers have found a strong correlation between the severity of the
condition and the patient s success in IVF treatment. The future in IVF and endometriosis research can
soon uncover the cause of endometriosis, further revealing different modes of alternatives in
reproduction. Literature Review Endometriosis occurs when the endometrial tissue, normally located
inside the uterus, lines the outside. The condition most commonly affects the ovaries and peritoneum,
and affects approximately 10% of women in the United States (Barnhart et. el. 2002). The misplaced
endometrial tissue continues to act as it would in the usual situation; the tissue thickens, breaks down,
and bleeds with the menstrual cycle. Since there is no exit path for the tissue to leave the body, the
tissue becomes trapped inside the abdomen, causing severe pain (Mayo Clinic, 2013). When the
ovaries are affected from endometriosis, cysts called endometriomas may form. The surrounding

Organelles In Animal Cells Essay
Organelles are the internal structures of the cell that are important for the cell to survive. Each
organelle has a specific function for the cell. The types of organelles in the cell can be different from
each other depending on the type of cell. Plant cells and animal cells both have a cytoskeleton,
endoplasmic reticulum (smooth and rough), golgi apparatus, mitochondrion, nucleus, plasma
membrane, and ribosomes. Animal and plant cells also have vacuoles, but they are rarely found in
animal cells. Vacuoles in animal cells are very small compared to the vacuoles in plant cells.
Lysosomes are also rarely found in plant cells but mostly found in animal cells. The cytoplasm is a
semifluid in the plasma membrane. It is in all eukaryotic cells. In prokaryotes, this is where the
chemical processes of the cell take place. In eukaryotic cells, this is where organelles perform their
functions. Cellular respiration also takes place here. One of stages of cellular respiration is glycolysis.
Glycolysis is when glucose breaks down to form two pyruvates and 4 ATP. Its net result of 2 ATP is
important for another process called the Krebs Cycle. This process is important because it begins
cellular respiration. The cytoplasm also gives the cell its shape; without it, the cell would be deflated
and substances would not be able to move throughout the cell. Organelles would have difficulty
functioning too. It has been misunderstood that organelles float freely in the cytoplasm even

Chaparral Biome In Southern California
A chaparral biome is a plant community shaped by a specific climate characterized by hot, dry
summers, and rainy winters. This climate is known as the Mediterranean climate and it occurs in
regions located within the Mediterranean Basin. Although Mediterranean climate is common within
the Mediterranean Basin, it is not exclusive to this area. It can also be experienced in many other areas
throughout the world including Cape Town located in South Africa, the western coast of South
America, and the western coast of the United States of America. These area s specific climate are what
allows them to be categorized them as chaparral biomes. This essay will focus on the latter of these
aforementioned chaparral biomes, specifically the chaparral biome found in Southern California. ...

A biome can be best described as a group of flora and fauna in a specified habitat that live together
and occur naturally. Meanwhile, a chaparral, which roots from the Spanish word chaparro (meaning
scrub oak), is a community of plants that mainly consist of dense trees and shrubs that have adapted to
the Mediterranean climate. This climate is an essential characteristic of this biome. Another essential
characteristic of this biome is its susceptibility to droughts and wildfires. This is caused by the lack of
rainfall it receives per year. For comparison s sake, the average yearly amount of rainfall the
contiguous United States receives is 30.21 inches (or 767 millimeters) while chaparral biomes receive
a mere 10 to 15 inches of rainfall a year. Wildfires are a major aspect to the chaparral cycle because
they clear the land of dead vegetation in order to make room for new

Both Nippon and Sumitomo were in their own right players in the steel business. Nippon was first

Porter s Value Chain

In order to determine the advantages of TMF in the competitive environment, Michael Porter s value
chain is used. Porter states that this competitive advantage can be obtained by lowering the production
costs and add value to the products or services. The chain is divided into primary and support
activities. The primary activities add value directly to the organisation, where the support activities
can add value indirectly to the company (Mind Tools, n.d.).

To determine what organisational culture is present in the company, every member of the management
team is scored according to the information.
Huib van Balen is leading the organisation in a personal way. As a CEO, he is operating towards the
person organisation culture, as he launches friday afternoon drink and lunch sessions, to receive input
from his colleagues. This is not only for oriented to the employees, but also to the company itself,
because this input from the team, is reinforcing his ideas about TMF. Huib is aware of the strengths
and weaknesses of his management team, which is aiming at the person culture.
Cees van Balen is operating differently, due to the fact that he is leading a department. Cees is more
focussed on the tasks and work hard. As a result, they achieve to reach the highest staff turnover.
However, his employees do not always feel involved in the process and decision making. This is a
result of Cees behaving like The Boss . A preference in the power and task culture can be measured.

My Food Allergies
Have you ever been offered a disgusting looking homemade meal by a loved one and you didn t know
how to turn it down because you didn t want to offend them? That s really unfortunate for you because
I m guessing you had to suffer through the horrid taste and finish the entire dish. But for me, I have a
secret answer so that I never have to eat anything I don t want. With one sentence containing one
magic word, I can turn down any nasty looking meal. Want to know what it is? Allergies. That is my
magic word. All I have to say is, I probably can t eat that because I have egg, peanut, and treenut
allergies but thank you so much for the thought! Just like that, I am safe from the horror with no blood
on my hands because the person who made the food is too scared that I could die if they feed it to me.
This is just one advantage of having an anaphylactic food allergy but I figured it was a useful tool to
share if you ever find yourself in that situation and need to use a quick white lie. I see my food
allergies as a positive in my life not only because of the excuses I can make with food, but because
they give me such a different mindset than everyone around me. My allergies are part of my identity
and part of what makes me, me. They have transformed me from feelings of insecurity to achieving
self actualization and owning my differences. If somebody didn t know that I had food allergies and
saw me living my daily life, they would be able to observe that I am a very hard

How I Were Myself From The Middle Of A Miss
How I found myself in the middle of a Miss Popular and a Miss Sank contest and several hopeful

come close to being correct, but their attention wasn t pointed at me. who wouldn t think the same
thing if they were in my place. One talking as if they knew the two of them would get along because
they were the best looking women in the building after all and the other one wanted to know when I
was going to have an overnight visit, or equivalent. And to make sure there was no room for
misinterpretation, if she could use the other end of the hotel floor or the other bathroom on my jet. Of
course, there was more and the more Lila talked the more Pena pointed out she was close friends with
Josh s best friend. I winced when I heard the comeback before it was said and knew I should take a
moment to go look for a parashoot. Lila was extremely overwhelmed that Pena had made it perfectly
clear the two of them were just friends and would be more than happy to take her friend off the market
so she would no longer have to worry that he would ever be lonely again. It was clear that as his friend
she would be the first to tell him how happy she was that he had finally found happiness with someone
much better then here. Things started to get ugly (if they hadn t already) when my

  • 2. Essay on Td Canada Trust TD Canada Trust Executive Summary After the completion of a mega merger, TD Canada Trust seeks to reposition the brand in order to retain customers and realize steady revenue growth. To examine the investment return of the new brand campaign comfortable banking , Executive VP Armstrong led his team developed a linkage analysis system and proposed a new branch incentive plan. This essay aims to evaluate the linkage analysis model and its effectiveness, also to comment on the incentive plan based on results of linkage analysis . The Merger between the Green and the Red In 1999, an $8 billion mega merger between TD Bank and Canada Trust lifted the former fifth largest commercial bank to its third largest place. The former ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The immediate purpose that Armstrong has set for the linkage analysis is to measure the impact that specific enhancements for reductions of key customer satisfaction drivers would have on branches financial performance. From a technical point of view, the regression model is well developed with the data provided. Each factor s weighed impact to the final gross contribution is indicated in the results. Interpretation of the linkage analysis results While the process of model development may seem compelling, major flaws exists in the linkage analysis , diminishing its credibility. Armstrong s team used branch level data from the CSI system as the primary source of research. As a result the concept of comfortable banking is directly translated into customers satisfaction during their interaction with tellers in the bank, since almost every criteria in the CSI is measuring representative service behaviors. One thing that the team failed to see is that comfortable banking could include a much wider scope of services that customers value therefore consider important to their experience: the products itself and services provided outside the bank for instance. According to Armstrong, comfortable banking positioning stands for the branding of the overall experience TD Canada Trust delivers to its clients. The financial products, as the core business of any banks throughout the world, should be counted as part of the service, too. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Abutment Teeth Proper selection of abutment teeth is an important component of removable partial dentures (RPDs) design and should account for the need of abutment teeth to withstand forces (vertical, horizontal and torque) normally directed towards the missing teeth as well as the abutment teeth itself. This essay will focus on the periodontal considerations when selecting abutment teeth for the RPD. Chronic periodontitis is a slowly progressive inflammatory disease that results in the destruction of periodontium (Armitage and Cullinan, 2010, Shaddox and Walker, 2010). It is characterized by clinical attachment greater than or equal to 5mm and radiographic evidence of alveolar bone loss (Cabanilla, Neely and Hernandez, 2008). Teeth with active periodontal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the higher than usual occlusal forces transmitted to the abutment through the prosthesis, clinician must evaluate the abutment teeth carefully .Several studies have reported unfavorable outcomes of abutment teeth compared to that of non abutment teeth, with the survival rate of abutment teeth reported to be significantly lower than non abutment teeth (Tada et al., 2013, Wagner and Kern, 2000). A study following a group patients for 5 years found that of the total abutment teeth lost, 42% were due to periodontal disease (Tada et al., 2013). Another study reported tooth loss of 18.8% attributable to periodontal complications (Cabanilla et al., 2008). It is postulated that the horizontal and lateral stress transmitted to the abutment teeth may lead to breakdown of periodontium and increase tooth mobility (Jorge et al., 2006). While there may be disparities in the findings, both studies have shown the possible periodontal complications related to RPDs. It has been shown that RPDs enhance plaque formation and retention especially on tooth surface in direct contact with denture thereby increasing the risk of adverse periodontal reactions (Petridis and Hempton, 2000). This quantitative change in dental biofilm has been shown to be associated with an increased PD and bleeding on probing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Skellig, a novel by David Almond, is something rare; something that encapsulates the fleeting nature of childhood. Almond uses many different literary techniques to achieve this, and I will be focusing on and discussing three of the most prominent: imagination, belief and disbelief, throughout my essay. Using these themes as a base, Almond incorporates many controversial topics into the book, making a statement about his own beliefs and disbeliefs, and leaves the rest up to the reader s imagination. • 9. The Improvisational Brain By Amanda Martinez Learning to create music or a speech spontaneously is not an easy task. Any professional musician will say that improvisation is not as easy as just making it up as one goes along. In fact, the musicians that make improvisation look simple are the ones who have put in countless hours of time and study to make it look effortless. The Improvisational Brain by Amanda Martinez tells about a neuroscientist that studied the science behind how the brain works in order to improvise. In order to be able to be a good improviser, one must learn to shut down the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and let the creativity and skill take over. What about those that have limited ability? Should they learn to improvise as well? One would argue that it is not important to learn to improvise, whether it be music or otherwise. However, improvising can give a person a sense of freedom from the ordinary. This notion of trying to tell your own story, without the constraints of caring how well it s going as you re saying it, was really pretty intriguing (Martinez p. 7). Although many struggle being able to shut down the part of your brain that allows one to improvise, it is important to teach children and adults alike how to improvise because it teaches creativity, divergent thinking, and encourages better communication skills. Improvising is defined by Merriam Webster dictionary as, to make, invent, or arrange offhand. A classical pianist, Robert Levin said of improvisation, It s an act of ... Abstract The aim of this research work is to classify the most favored brand of soap in New Delhi by recording signals using wireless EEG through Neuromarketing. A set of four major soap brand advertisements i.e. Pears, Lux, Cinthol and Dove are considered for this research. The advertisement (video) of above these brands are used to stimulate the subjects (9 male and 9 female with age range of 22 30 years) The response of the brain for the stimuli were composed using a 14 channel wireless headset which has a sampling frequency of about 128 Hz. The recorded signals are processed using fourth order Butterworth band pass filter. Then feature extraction is done to extract desired features from the EEG signal. The mean value and then power of mean value of each soap brand is calculated. The frequency spectrum of above soap brands is obtained through time frequency analysis using Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT).The results so obtained are plotted in graphs for final analysis. The present experimental results are analysed and it is indicated that the subjects are mostly inspired on Dove brand of soap compared to other brands. Throughout this paper resilience will be applied to all of the above mentioned concepts. Resilience across a lifespan is described through theories, measures, and even personality characteristics. Resilience has also been applied to the impacts of disasters and traumatic experiences in which will also be touched on throughout this paper. Resilience is described as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress (American Psychological Association, 2016). Resilience is an ordinary thing in human beings. It is often described as bouncing back, which refers to bouncing back from difficult times or situations. As a person grows older resilience grows as well. A person s past can most certainly affect how a person uses resiliency in the present. If a person is not affected negatively a lot in their past when it comes time for a person to bounce back, they will not bounce back as smoothly as a person who has had a very traumatic past and has learned how to bounce back in a smoother fashion. A person s past determines their resiliency in the present and a person s present determines their resiliency efforts in the future. Resiliency is different for each and every person. The old woman prompted up on her elbows and scooted as fast as she could towards the table, but the transgender rushed past her. Oh, help me, Jesus. Whooo, help me, Lord! Out of breath, the old woman rolled onto her back and huffed and puffed while looking at the ceiling. The fight continued on without her. Have mercy, Jesus. Knowing she needed the syringe to walk out of that room alive, she tried to get back into the fierce fight, reciting scriptures to build her strength. Help me get up, Lord. I m more than a conqueror. God, you have given me the authority to tread on these serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt me... All things are pos Someone kicked her in the mouth and brought her words to a stinging shut up. She tumbled over on her back where she stayed and gave up the physical fight, but she kept belting out scriptures one after the other. The transgender moved as fast as he could, but others were ahead of him. He stood and took a deep dive over the others, landing next to the businessman and rushed past him to get under the table. The businessman reached for his shirt, but grabbed his hair and pulled, his wig came off. He freaked out, threw the wig to the side and grabbed hold of the transgender s shirt. He turned on his back and started kicking his oppressor. The others continued fighting, they could see the syringe, some could even feel it with the tips of their fingers. They reached for it, but arms were snatched, pulled, held, bent and slapped away. The syringe was quickly swooped up, but a present danger awaited the college student who made it to it first. This space station serves as a home for the crews of astronauts and cosmonauts. The space station is also a unique science laboratory. Several nations such as Canada, Japan, the Russian Federation, the United States, and eleven Member States of the European Space Agency (Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom) worked together to build and use this space station. The space station is made of parts that were assembled by astronauts, in space itself. NASA is using this space station to learn more about the living and working conditions in space. These discoveries will help make it possible for them to find out if it is feasible to send humans farther into space than ever done in the past. Political: The International Space Station was first considered in the waning years of the Cold War. A space station called Mir was prepared to be launched by the Soviet Union, which went into orbit in 1986. The United States wanted to match its rival.During his 1984 State of the Union address, President Ronald Regan announced his plans for a U.S led project. • 20. Seaworld Is Not A Killer Whale Program And The Number Of... Captivity has been a controversial subject for as long as it has existed. In the past decade, SeaWorld has been under scrutiny for their killer whale program and the number of incidents regarding them. Almost as big as a school bus, these animals are incredibly intelligent. Their brain s are so much larger than humans. One may think that is because they are so massive, but body size does not determine brain size. Many animals much larger than humans have brains much smaller. Killer whales even have a center of their brain that processes emotions; humans do not have that. SeaWorld has taken social animals who swim almost 100 miles a day, to an introverted, almost immobile bathtub, baking in the sun. Nothing good can come from changing their ... She stayed in the corner of the pool, like, literally just shaking and screaming, screeching, crying. (Blackfish). It is so poignant to read about a mother losing her child. To hear what it looks and sounds like is unfathomable. No one can understand what Katina was feeling, breaking the deeply rooted bond she had with her child. After the agonizing event with Katina, SeaWorld had again brought heartbreak to a mother from breeding with Kohana. Former SeaWorld Trainer John Hargrove wrote a book about SeaWorld and working there. Hargrove stated, within five years of her stay in Loro Parque, Kohana had given birth twice and twice had rejected her calves. Her second rejected calf died within its first year. Kohana was too young when she was separated from Takara to have fully learned what orca motherhood entails. (Hargrove 156). It is enthralling how SeaWorld has created three horrible lives; Kohana, who gave birth too young, and her two calves she rejected, one of which whom died, because SeaWorld wanted to make more money by renting them. These are living creatures and SeaWorld is treating them as if they are merchandise, renting them across the world, pasting their faces onto shirts and mugs. • 21. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Epilepsy Business Understanding According to World Health Organisation (2017), around 50 million people worldwide have epilepsy. Unfortunately, epilepsy cannot be cured, but could be controlled by pharmacological or electrical treatment based on seizure prediction (Moghim Corne, 2014). Since EEG has advantages such as speed, high time resolution and non invasive natures, it maintains one of the most frequently used tools in predicting epilepsy (Hasan et al. 2017). Electroencephalography (EEG) has a broad use in both medical practices and medical research for diagnosing and identifying epileptic seizures, syncope (fainting), cognitive psychologies, and psychophysiological research (Niedermever, 2004). Commonly used in identifying epilepsy, the EEG helps the doctors to distinguish types of seizures, the reasons to trigger the seizures and also the treatment needed. Types of EEG are different according to test aims, facilities, medical and patients situations, and are generally separated into 4 types: Routine EEG, Sleep EEG, Ambulatory EEG and Video EEG. All of the types would record electrical activities of the brain, investigate their potential fluctuations and brain waves, and perform analysis to convert the data into useful information in identifying the seizures. Usually, the EEG test will last for 20 to 40 minutes, and will be conducted by attaching scalp with the electrodes which are connected to an EEG recording machine (NHS, 2017). There are three main cases to be solved in this project. First is to identify whether an EEG showing seizure or not. Second is to identify the 5 categories of EEG. Third is to identify the classification of EEG, whether it is indicating healthy brain activity, potential epileptic seizure or actual epileptic seizure. Data Understanding The given data set contains fields such as ID, X1 to X178 which represents the 1 second EEG result and y which represents the EEG type. This data set will be used for model generation. The data set contains no missing values and distributed nicely with sufficient number of rows for creating models. In addition, all the field in the data set is essential for the model generation, this implies that all fields will be used. However, there will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Descartes And Hume Essay There are three ways in which one is able to find truth: through reason (A is A), by utilizing the senses (paper burns) or by faith (God is all loving). As the period of the Renaissance came to a close, the popular paradigm for philosophers shifted from faith to reason and finally settling on the senses. Thinkers began to challenge authorities, including great teachers such as Aristotle and Plato, and through skepticism the modern world began. The French philosopher, René Descartes who implemented reason to find truth, as well as the British empiricist David Hume with his usage of analytic synthetic distinction, most effectively utilized the practices of skepticism in the modern world. For in Descartes terms, it was plausible to doubt that one has a body, but impossible to doubt the existence of one s mind; therefore ...self and mind must be identical (Palmer 162). Hume on the other hand, took a different approach to the idea of self. He believed that there in fact was no such thing as selfhood. Instead he asserts that it must be some one impression, that gives rise to every real idea. But self...is not any one impression, but that to which our several impressions and ideas are supposed to have a reference... (597). By this he implies that in order to form concrete ideas, ones impressions of pain, pleasure, joy, etc. must be invariable throughout time. This, Hume states, we know without a doubt to be impossible. Passions succeed each other over time and give rise to new passions, therefore ...it cannot be from any of these impressions...that the idea of self is derived, and consequently there is no such idea (597). Although like Descartes, Hume practiced the art of radical skepticism, he felt that if he could not utilize his senses to prove something it was meaningless. • 23. Oral Tradition Paper It was the intention of this paper to situate The Oral Tradition Workshop for Educators and other intercultural programs in Esmeraldas into the greater context of intercultural educational programs globally. First, it aimed to illustrate that intercultural education is often a response to long standing historical, political, and economic marginalization of one group by the dominate culture. For Afro Ecuadorians, as in the cases of Europe and Latin America, the focus on intercultural education emerged as a response to historical marginalization after the amendment to the constitution in 1998 calling for expanded collective rights of indigenous groups and Afro Ecuadorian. At the heart of intercultural education programs is the assumption that the school and its key actors (students, educators, administrators) play a critical role in eradicating inequality and negotiating spaces between cultures (Aikman, 1997). AP Biology Lab Report: How the Amount of Motor Oil Affects Hatching Viability of Brine Shrimp Eggs Question How does the amount of motor oil in the environment of a brine shrimp affect the hatching viability of brine shrimp eggs? Hypothesis If hatching viability is affected by the amount of motor oil in the environment of the brine shrimp eggs, then when the amount of motor oil is increased the hatching viability will decrease. Experimental Design The independent variable was the amount of motor oil in 2% salt solution because it is the variable that was being tested and purposefully manipulated. The dependent variable was the hatching viability of the brine shrimp tested (which was calculated by adding the number of brine shrimp swimming at 24 hours to the number of brine shrimp swimming at 48 hours, and then divided by the total number of eggs initially placed in the petri dish). The control group was a petri dish of brine shrimp in 30 ml of 2% salt solution with no motor oil. The constants, or variables that need to be controlled, were the salinity percentage of the salt solution (2%), the amount of salt solution in each petri dish (30 ml), the total time the brine shrimp were left in the petri dishes (48 hours), and the frequency of when the brine shrimp were checked (every 24 hours). In the second chapter of Last Child of the Woods, Richard Louv makes the claim that there have been three frontiers in the course of American history. The first phase was the original frontier, before the Industrial Revolution. This was the time of the prairie schooner, the cowboy, the herds of bison that were thousands strong. This was a rough, hard time, when man and nature were constantly thrown together. There was wilderness to spare, and people were willing to move West to get to it. The second phase came into being after the Industrial Revolution. Land that was available to homesteaders had run out. Yet the American people still considered themselves frontier explorers. Not only are they taught that building things outside are bad, but because of the disappearance of natural spaces within cities, nature is not as accessible to kids. This leads to what Louv calls, Nature Deficit Disorder, the lack of relationship between children and nature. Richard Louv uses Logos in several different ways throughout this selection. He collects research from many different studies, interviews parents, and finds sources from history. In his second chapter especially, he uses numerous examples of scientific experiments to back his point that people really do not have an adequate realization of the difference between humans and animals. In his third chapter, he conducted an interview with a parent who had moved to a certain neighborhood because of the abundance of outdoor areas. Louv uses this interview to illustrate his point that even if nature is available, it really is not supposed to be used for unstructured recreation. In his second chapter, he draws on U.S. Census Bureau reports to illustrate the decline of the family farm. He uses historical events and ideas to show his idea of the romanticizing of the American frontier. Through these concrete examples, he is able to persuade the reader that his ideas and theories are valid. I think that Louv is right in his opinion that kids are losing touch with nature. The luncheon takes place in nature where the figures are surrounded by trees and grass, however, the roughly painted background lacks depth and the perspective is ignored giving the viewer the impression that the scene is more suggested than painted and that it does not take place in an outdoor, but in a studio. This impression is reinforced by an unrefined light that casts no shadows. Nevertheless, flat application of color, and lack of subtle gradation are obvious in the painting. Bradshaw 12 May 2015 CRJ 451: Module 1 Homework PART I Outline the four major clusters of depressive symptoms and explain each one in detail: Emotional; Cognitive; Motivational; Somatic. There are four noteworthy groups of depressive indications; emotional, cognitive, motivational and somatic.. Each of these bunches of depressive manifestations sway both conditionally and autonomously upon the discouraged person. Actually, as one arrangement of bunches starts to influence the individual another effects and fortifies the depressive impact (Dahlgren, 2008). Emotional Symptoms Sadness is the most obvious and broad Emotional Symptoms in misery. Discouraged individuals may even eloquent their dejection by such proclamations as I feel dismal. This enthusiastic side effect is felt more regrettable in the morning for the most part because of not having possessed the capacity to rest. Emotions of nervousness are likewise present alongside a loss of delight and loss of interest (Dahlgren, 2008). • 39. The Growth Of Early Los Angeles To tell the story of the growth of early Los Angeles it is necessary to visit the culturally significant union station in old downtown on Alameda street. The buildings owes it begging to the American phenomenon of the railroad, the institution that allowed for American expansion into the modern era and more specifically the growth of the west coast metropolis of Los Angeles that prior was just a small Spanish town. Just across the street from the Avila adobe, one of the first and oldest existing Spanish settlements in L.A., lays Union station, a building that holds on to the city s Spanish roots through Spanish mission style architecture. At the time of its erection, the building not only told the story of the small Spanish town that Los Angeles was but also hinted at the industrial metropolis that Los Angeles would be through the art deco language. Through the fine usage and mixture of elements at a macro and micro scale, Union Station successfully mixes the two languages of Art Deco modern and Spanish mission style to form a landmark that is a remnant of a significant transitional period in LA s history. Just like many other U.S cities during the early 20th century los angles experienced a period of unprecedented industrial growth and population increase that followed. Furthermore there was the need for a transportation hub that would serve as a common stop for vital transcontinental rail lines that supported the city s industry, which included the Union Pacific ... Sometimes for the fun of it, I used to draw cartoon characters because I like how they look. I sat down, grabbed a random paper, crayons and draw what I remembered about a character. This where my passion for drawing came from. Unfortunately, not everyone agrees with my method since they found it was considered ditching. I sent multiple times to Mrs. Rodriquez office and she always asks me Why do I ditch or How do it . I replied I just climb the fence and because is boring. • 41. External Stakeholders And Financial Information For my final paper, the topic that I have chosen is how external stakeholders use financial information to make decisions in a company. One thing that I have noticed is that you cannot tell if a company is at its best or its worse. Loan companies, banks and are eager to see where companies match up against other competitors. These companies take the most risk by investing money into units that are not started, maintained, or organized by themselves. Many factors can come into play when stakeholders are looking to make a decision on where to place their money. Those factors may include items that are being sold or produced, the message the company has to offer, etc. More importantly, stakeholders use financial information to ... Stakeholder s main interests are profit growth and dividends because their goal is to get a return on the money they invested. Investors are stakeholders that buy shares in a company. (Baskerville, May 2011). Their primary interest in knowing that the company is doing well so that they can put their money into the company for a greater return. Lenders are external stakeholders who lend money to that enterprise on either a short or a long term basis usually charging a fee or interest to make some money in return. Lenders are regularly composed of banks or other types of financial institutions. Suppliers are also interested in how a company is doing because they want to make sure that they will get paid for their products and services at a later time. Customers are stakeholders that want to know the financial strength of a company because they want to know that their supplier is going to be a dependable source. Competitors are also financial stakeholders because they have a need to know where their companies lie in the market and the only way to see that is by comparing their group to others. • 43. The Effect Of Endometriosis On Vitro Fertilization The Effect of Endometriosis on In Vitro Fertilization By: Brittany Pangilinan Abstract The success of in vitro fertilization treatment is compromised when a patient is suffering from endometriosis. Endometriosis creates scar tissue and adhesions on the women s ovaries and other reproductive structures preventing the joining of the egg and sperm during fertilization. In vitro fertilization was created in 1977 to manually join the egg and sperm in hope of fertilization in patients who cannot conceive on their own. Researchers have found a strong correlation between the severity of the condition and the patient s success in IVF treatment. The future in IVF and endometriosis research can soon uncover the cause of endometriosis, further revealing different modes of alternatives in reproduction. Literature Review Endometriosis occurs when the endometrial tissue, normally located inside the uterus, lines the outside. The condition most commonly affects the ovaries and peritoneum, and affects approximately 10% of women in the United States (Barnhart et. el. 2002). The misplaced endometrial tissue continues to act as it would in the usual situation; the tissue thickens, breaks down, and bleeds with the menstrual cycle. Since there is no exit path for the tissue to leave the body, the tissue becomes trapped inside the abdomen, causing severe pain (Mayo Clinic, 2013). When the ovaries are affected from endometriosis, cysts called endometriomas may form. The surrounding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Organelles In Animal Cells Essay Organelles are the internal structures of the cell that are important for the cell to survive. Each organelle has a specific function for the cell. The types of organelles in the cell can be different from each other depending on the type of cell. Plant cells and animal cells both have a cytoskeleton, endoplasmic reticulum (smooth and rough), golgi apparatus, mitochondrion, nucleus, plasma membrane, and ribosomes. Animal and plant cells also have vacuoles, but they are rarely found in animal cells. Vacuoles in animal cells are very small compared to the vacuoles in plant cells. Lysosomes are also rarely found in plant cells but mostly found in animal cells. The cytoplasm is a semifluid in the plasma membrane. It is in all eukaryotic cells. In prokaryotes, this is where the chemical processes of the cell take place. In eukaryotic cells, this is where organelles perform their functions. Cellular respiration also takes place here. One of stages of cellular respiration is glycolysis. Glycolysis is when glucose breaks down to form two pyruvates and 4 ATP. Its net result of 2 ATP is important for another process called the Krebs Cycle. This process is important because it begins cellular respiration. The cytoplasm also gives the cell its shape; without it, the cell would be deflated and substances would not be able to move throughout the cell. Organelles would have difficulty functioning too. It has been misunderstood that organelles float freely in the cytoplasm even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Allergies. That is my magic word. All I have to say is, I probably can t eat that because I have egg, peanut, and treenut allergies but thank you so much for the thought!
