ISSUE Under Florida statutes and cases pertinent to inadvertent disclosure, is Mr. Beene required to
return the privileged documents when (1) the products liability team inspected each document
included in the discovery; (2) the inadvertent disclosure occurred once; (3) the degree of disclosure
was miniscule; (4) timely objections were made at the deposition; and (5) opposing counsel had
already built a case around documents that included correspondence that were intended to be
privileged? BRIEF ANSWER Yes. This is due to the fact that reasonable precautions were taken by
having the products liability team examine each document, and furthermore, having a paralegal sit in
with Mr. Beene while he was sifting through the documents. The second and third factors are not
being disputed solely for the reason that the inadvertent disclosures occurred once, and the extent of

Personal Narrative-Lasting Life In High School
It was definitely past the dormitory s lights out, but there I was, walking across the hallway into the
dimly lit room, in the dead of twilight. Harrison and Thomas were busy with their noses buried in
books when I burst in. Hey, guys... I could barely contain my excitement into a whisper. Our first
midterms came out today! Isn t it strange how Exeter puts them on an eleven point scale and Harrison
scowled as both of them peered up at me. Dude, honestly. Who the fuck cares. They re high school
grades...can you let us study? Thomas nodded in agreement and returned back to reading. You don t
want to share each other s grades? Compare them? Harrison put his book down. You know what, let s
do that. If you tell us yours first...

But I never stopped touring. I took a harsh bow, but I had to keep trying until I did it right. So another
school year later, I made sure nobody I toured ever thought of having to ask me that question again.
Andrew, do you know why your parents hired a private college counselor? They re worried about you.
Your mom in particular you wouldn t believe the expression she had on her face when she told me
about how much sleep you ve been getting. She s worried for your mental health. And the grades you
ve been getting, too. I stopped trying to block out what people told me, what I told myself. Instead I
internalized it. I stopped trying so hard, I gave up on a few classes and activities, I quit. I drove myself
to the ground until I found myself back home over break sitting in some Dr. Ernie O Leary s office.
Let me break the news for you. I know what my limits are and aren t. You re not getting into an Ivy

Food Intake-3 Days
Food Intake 3 Days Edgar Burgos Cruz University of Phoenix SCI/220 Human Nutrition September
12, 2013 Prof. Pierre Edvrard Pharel Food Intake 3 Days During this week, I Edgar Burgos had to
conduct a food intake for 3 consecutive days. This paper will describe my nutritional endeavor for the
past three days. I will provide different aspects of my nutritional needs and an in depth analysis on
how proteins fats carbohydrates and fiber take part in my everyday diet and what are these functions.
This is intended to broaden my views of a healthy lifestyle, and how to achieve it through a variety of
food groups. During the 3 days food intake, I ate chicken, steak, beans, eggs and turkey which
provided proteins. For carbohydrates I had: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was kind of surprised by the numbers because I have never studied my daily intakes before and they
are showing that I eat a lot of carbohydrates. Macronutrients are relatively needed in large amounts. I
had consumed a vast quantity of these nutrients during my three day period. For example, 21 water
bottles along with the above mentioned proteins, carbohydrates and lipids. Micronutrient Intake
Ranges Macronutrients are an important part of your daily intake since they provide the body with
calories and energy. These nutrients are needed for metabolism and growth of the body. The three
macronutrients are carbohydrates, protein, and fat (McKinley Health Center, 2008). It is important to
that macronutrient intake be within the recommended intake range. Having a diet that consists of too
much or too little of a macronutrient could be harmful to the body. If you eat too many
macronutrients, you could gain fat and if you eat too little macronutrients you could lose healthy fat,
which would cause the body to break down. If you consistently eat too little protein, carbohydrates, or
lipids, the body would be malnourished, which could have devastating effects on your health. Fiber
Intake Ranges My fiber intake was 41.1% of the recommended daily intake. I definitely feel that my
fiber intake over the three days is about right. Fiber is an important part of a diet and a male such as
me should consume 38 grams of fiber each

Class And Gender Analysis
Class and Gender can Change a lot of Things Many centuries prior to the nineteenth one there has
been numerous indications of the severity in horrible treatment of women, men and children. As one
would look into any decent history book, their would be pages on chapters of the treatment of the
civilization in them. Depending on what century one was looking into determined the good or bad
treatment. However some of the most documented treatment would have to be in the nineteenth
century. Thus far in the semester we have discussed numerous cases of men, women and children
being treated with little to no fairness within the Northern Hemisphere. Even though this showed the
people that the world did not owe them anything and they should work hard ... Show more content on

Although what one reads in a history book today seems outrageous, the aspect of the gender and class
roles have not changed as much as much as one would like to think. Al of the sources we have read
has in more ways than one related back into today s social and gender standards. Women are still more
then likely to be the homemakers . Women are also held to the responsibilities of the children to
ensure them getting ready on time, and are respectable in a group seating. Women are still paid less
than men. Men are still recognized as the breadwinners. Also, class plays a huge outcome in the stance
of where you live, how hard you work, and if you are educated or not. This just reinstates the role of
men and women, what they have been and what they will be for years to come. As much as these
sources were put in place to show the live within the nineteenth century I believe this is a perfect
example of history repeating

The Negative Chain Of Effects Of Violence In The Media
No one can be protected from the constant bombardments of violence in the media. Violence has been
apart of our world ever since the beginning of time, and therefore has become a part of our daily lives.
Acts of violence are ubiquitous and can be witnessed in myriad forms; whether it s on the news, social
media, films, shows, video games and even cartoons. A young child can watch gory films as well as
play violent video games without any adult supervision easily with no problem if he or she wanted to.
Trying to avoid this scenario from happening would not only be fatuous but also preposterous.
Advanced technology has facilitated the access to any sort of violent content for any individual, with
little to no boundaries. Violence manifested in the media has caused a negative chain of effects in our
society by promoting violence to children, changing our morality and encouraging violence in real
life.
With this object in mind, violence in the media is negatively influencing our society by constantly
promoting vicious behavior to children in ample forms, with no regulations what so ever. Violence has
become one of the most popular and most favorite form of entertainment for young people from these
past generations. Currently, video games like Mortal Kombat and Grand Theft Auto are some of the
popular gruesome video games among today s youth. I have two younger siblings, who both happen to
enjoy playing these two video games. I ll sporadically play Mortal Kombat with my brother,

A Brief Note On Culture And Everyday Life
Culture and Everyday Life
The term culture itself, is very broad. It is defined in many different ways by many different people
around the world. Culture includes all the aspects from your everyday life. Most people don t know it,
but everything you do is part of your culture; it is a tradition. Culture consists of things such as
clothes, family, food, and religion, all the way to recreation, gender roles, music, and art. However,
when you enter a new type of environment with your own cultural heritage, it forces you to adapt and
change. With this, a person s culture consistently informs the way we view the world and others. This
is especially true when people s cultural traditions are confronted with a new culture and environment.

Mira chooses to have a green card when she comes to America, so that when she is done with her job,
she can go back to India to enjoy the rest of her life. On the other hand, Bharati does not. She chooses
to become a US citizen, and she chooses to start doing and believing in the things a normal American
would. Along with the two sisters being confronted with the new culture, they both make decisions
depending on the new culture they have chosen for themselves. When Bharati is explaining certain
decisions she is making, she says By choosing a husband who was not my father s selection, I was
opting for fluidity, self invention, blue jeans and T shirts, and renouncing 3,000 years of caste
observant, pure culture marriage in the Mukherjee family (70). Not only does this show the connection
between the two sisters growing weaker, it is showing that they are becoming their own people and
choosing what they want to do in life and how they are going to do them. As you can see, Bharati is
rebelling against her Indian cultural heritage because she is not following the rule of having an
arranged marriage. Otherwise, Mira, is choosing to go back to India and marry her spouse that was
already picked for her. As you can see, when Bharati and Mira arrived in the United States from India,
the new American culture challenged the two sisters and even forced one of them to change, and adapt

DIY Driveway Gates
DIY Driveway Gates
A lot of people want the fenced in yard and driveway gate so that they can know when their kids or
pets are outside, they are safe. They like knowing that people cannot simply wander onto their
property and it makes a house look nice if you have a nice driveway gate up. However, hiring a
professional to install a gate, much like hiring someone to install a garage door, can be costly. A lot of
people don t have that money to invest in their property, so instead they attempt to create their own
gate in an effort to save a little money. The problem is, most people do not realize all that they must

Importance Of The Micro Economic Environment
Activity one: 1.1Explain the importance of the micro economic environment to business
organisations: Microeconomics looks at how individual players in the economy, such as households
and firms, interact. It focuses on the impact that their economic choices have on the allocation of
scarce resources to meet unlimited demand. These interactions match what one party wants or
demands in economic term and what the other gives in exchange (supply). Each time someone buys a
chocolate bar from a newsagent or undertakes the morning paper round, there s an interaction between
supply and demand (ESRC). (P) Demand curve Equilibrium point of D S Supply curve (Q) Fig1.1:
equilibrium of consumer demand curve and firm s supply The Above picture clearly illustrate that
where the Demand and supply curves intersect, that is called equilibrium point of demand and supply
where consumer demand is equal to supply from firms or production sector and Q shows quantity and
P shows price. The collective way of all the decisions on demand and supply, use of resources and
opportunity costs made by millions of people or firms sets the price for goods, services, assets and
labour demand and supply therefore form the main principle that underlines all microeconomics
(ESRC). The microeconomics environment is the study of individuals and firms or organisations,
which are directly linked to business. The study of microeconomics focus on subsisting and
prospective stakeholders of company.

Essay about Government Regulations and Rights
American citizens are getting tired of the governments increasing control of the economy, health care,
and a dodgy recovery plan (Engstrom, 2). According to a national survey, Voters are starting to realize
that the regulations implemented by government are beginning to intrude more so on people s personal
lives (Thompson and Tringali, 2). The survey also said that, A majority of both conservatives (61%)
and liberals (54%) say they are both negatively impacted by regulations that tell American business
which workers to hire (Thompson and Tringali, 2). Most people believe that government intervention

Lawmakers and regulators construct complex cost benefit calculations to justify the rules, but they
never account for the erosion of liberty inherent in each and every one said Diane (Katz, 1). Seventy
four percent of voters in the United States believe that businesses and consumers are over regulated
(Thompson and Tringali, 2). Also, majorities agree that the increasing number of regulations have
created uncertainty for large and small businesses (66%), and that agencies who enforce regulations
fail to consider that their decisions lead to increased prices for consumers and job losses (69%),
according to a poll (Thompson and Tringali, 2). Ironically, Barak Obama has been trying to convince
and persuade voters that he does actually care about jobs (Barone, 1). A lot of Americans are putting

The 80-20 Rule
The 80 20 rule is a universal principle that states that for any group of people or things that have a
common attribute, 20% of them will have 80% of the attribute. However, the actual 80/20 split doesn t
always hold up in the real world. Sometimes it is 90/10 or 70/30 or some other ratio that favors
unevenness. The main point is that things are not distributed evenly. This observation holds true for
things such as the distribution of wealth among the population, or of the distribution of talent among
the population. It doesn t matter if the talent is musical, athletic, or ability to make sales. For example,
within any business organization, academic school, or sports team, there will always be a few top
performers. As mentioned before, the 80 20 rule doesn t just apply to people. Vilfredo Pareto for
example, the man who first noticed this rule, found that 80% of the peas in his garden were ... Show

Exploitation however, is straightforward. Simply spend more time and more resources on the few
things that bring the most results while spending less time and resources on whatever brings in
marginal results. Most of us do this intuitively with our choice of careers. Few people would ignore
their natural talent for engineering to become concert pianists if they had little talent for it. In terms of
inbound marketing, you should use the 80 20 rule in a deliberate way. You will need to have plenty of
data to accurately sort out your top performers from the rest. As an example of this, suppose you are
repurposing your blog content into other content formats such as video, podcasts, white papers,
ebooks, and slide shows and are then submitting these to the big distribution centers for each type of
content. This is a fair amount of work and if your time and resources are limited, you should use the
80 20 rule to choose which content formats to focus

Chiropractic Ethical Dilemmas
In the past century, chiropractors were shunned and undermined as unethical medical doctors with the
sole belief that it was unethical to associate with any of these kind of practitioners. The article which I

history and events of the struggle of the chiropractors back in the early 1800s up until the late 1900 s.
The article also explains how Chester Wilk along with four other chiropractors sued the AMA due to
violations of section 1 and 2 of the Sherman Antitrust Act. Through these significant events, the future
of chiropractic has been created into what it is as of today.

The Place Of The Room

Pineapple Express Character Analysis
Similarities with fictional characters Have you ever thought of which fictional characters you relate
too? I am a person who is funny, intelligent and lazy. I chose 3 fictional character that I relate to the
most. The three fictional characters that most represent my personality are Saul Silver from Pineapple
Express for his funny personality, Chris Gardner from the Pursuit of Happiness for being intelligent
and his willingness to strive for success, and Patrick from Spongebob Squarepants for his laziness,
always being late to things he had to do.
Saul Silver from the movie Pineapple Express has a silly personality, which I believe is a
characteristic that I posses as well. A scene from the movie which Saul shows that character trait is
when his friend Dale Denton gets arrested for selling marijuana to kids and Saul had gone off to buy
burritos for them to eat. Next he came back and had seen what happened, as the cop was driving away
with his friend in the back seat he decided to get hit by the cop car so the officer could get out of the
vehicle. Then after that occurred Saul crawled around the car and hopped in the front seat and drove
away with his friend. When Saul was struck by the car he spilled a red smoothie all over the front
windshield. On that occasion he put his foot through the windshield to create an opening so he can
see, despite that wasn t the case his foot ended up getting stuck. This character trait hurts the character
because it gets him in sticky

A Better Person InThe Alchemist, By Paulo Coelho
Imagine the impact of helping someone when they need it. When you help someone, it can make
someone s day, or make them want to help someone else, including you. Because of this, not only you
feel better but others will want to help you to. Characters who help someone will receive a benefit,
even if they do not know it at the start. In the novel, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho, Santiago learns,
When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too. First, good
came after bad. Next, Santiago helps people who eventually help him. Last, important lessons make
Santiago become a better person.
First, good came after bad. For example, while Santiago is at Tarifa after he is robbed, he meets a
crystal merchant who allows him to clean his shop, which results in him getting a job there. When
they had eaten, the merchant turned to` the boy and said, I d like you to work in my shop. Two
customers came in today while you were working, and that s a good omen (49). Good comes to
Santiago after he goes through the bad. He is robbed, and then he gets offered a job that will pay him,
so he has a chance to regain the money he just lost. Finally, since he still tries to become better, he gets
a job which will help him gain money for the journey. To conclude, Santiago learns that even if
something bad happens, if you still strive to become better, you will be awarded.
Next, Santiago s friends help him become better. To clarify, when Santiago is on the

Term Paperm on Personal Legend
THE ALCHEMIST By Paulo Coelho New York: Harper Collins Publishers, 1993 ISBN # 0 06 250218
2 (paper) 174 pages Comments by Bob Corbett November 2009 This is a lovely book, tender but
profound. It is about the importance of seeking one s own meaning of life and spending one s life
fulfilling it. Coelho calls it seeking one s Personal Legend. It reminds me very much of what the
Existentialists would have called authenticity. However, unlike the Existentialists who write rather
darkly about this process of seeking one s own meaning system, Coelho s young shepherd boy is
seeking his Personal Legend in something much like a fairly tale. However, Coelho at least gives us a
process and set of obstacles we might well expect, and his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Coelho writes a beautiful and moving legend of the boy s journey and enlightenment. I did find the
title rather odd. There is an alchemist in the novel whom the shepherd boy meets and who, indeed,
helps him in many ways and actually sort of makes the shepherd boy into an alchemist himself. But
the use of the definite article the in the title seems a bit confusing. It would seem, on Coelho s account,
that anyone who actually achieves his or her Personal Legend becomes an alchemist, changing the
baser life we have from birth into the gold of our own Personal Success. But this is a journey upon
which any person may embark. On the other hand Coelho seems right to me in bringing in the
influential alchemist whom the boy meets in the north African desert. I think most of us who have
seriously undertaken this journey meet people along the way who teach us and inspire us toward this
mysterious and even occult route toward our Personal Legend. I m 70 now and still on my journey,
and like the boy, have arrived at various stages I once was almost sure were arrival points, only to
discover another stage of enlightenment along the way. Everyone who is such a seeker should read
this optimistic book of one who seems to have succeeded in the process of turning a potentially base
life into a golden achievement, a true alchemist s

The Importance Of Fluency Instruction For Reading...
Data In looking at the raw data, all but one of my five sixth grade students in my class scored below
the 50 percentile. This shows a need for fluency instruction and possibly a reason why students
struggle in the area of reading comprehension. I administered the fifth grade level passage of the
words per minute assessment, all of my students were reading at an independent level, but struggle to
read the text fluently, thus affecting their comprehension. Most of the students scored 3/5 on
comprehension part of the assessment. Based on this data it is clear that my students need some
aspects of fluency instruction. Because I had seven students total in my class, I did a whole class
choral reading lesson with the entire group. The two readers I did not assess I knew would benefit
from fluency based on observations of student s reading fluency when they have volunteered to read
aloud in class. All of my students need some type of fluency instruction and there was not a single
student who has mastered an area of fluency instruction.
Technical Reflection
In administering the word per minute assessment, I think I excelled at making the students feel
comfortable while giving the assessment. I had the student working with me at a small table while the
rest of the class did independent work. I let the student know I was going to record them, so I could
listen to it later. Then, I just listened to the student read. I have found from previous experience giving

Every nation has various forms of representing its people, their believes and culture through their
unique rituals, fascinating customs, and their possessions. All of these representations of culture
behold a specific meaning and unique purpose that has to be passed on to the next generation. The
same can be said about Russian famous Babushka Dolls. Babushka Dolls are also called Russian
Nesting dolls or Matryoshka, which is a famous Russian wooden set of dolls that are designed in a
very specific way, so that the wooden figures of decreasing size could be placed one inside another. In
order to do so, each figure could be taken apart in two halves like plastic Easter eggs. These dolls are
decorated in different styles, but the original way had changed since the first Matryosha was made in
1890 by Vasily Zvyozdochkin, who is a Russian turning craftsman, and painted by Sergey Malyutin,
who is a Russian painter and a stage designer (Terletski). Nowadays, anyone, mostly tourists, can
purchase Matryoshkas at any craft stores in Russia. However, Russian Nesting Doll is not just a very
popular souvenir, but it is also an interesting representation of our culture because it is considered to
be a very educating toy for children, a remarkable representation of female beauty, and also a symbol
of a family and fertility.
Russian Nesting Dolls is the best educating toy for children of the age of about from three and above.

Joshua Specific Instruction
Specific Instruction: Walking to you Purpose through OBEDIENCE!
Scripture: Joshua 6: 1 27
This particular scripture in the Bible illustrates what happens when you follow God s instruction. God
has given Joshua specific instruction to ensure his army s victory over Jericho. They were instructed to
march around the city, blow horns and do what I m sure they though; really weird things. I could only
imagine Joshua telling his troupes Hey we need to go walk around this City a few times and then go
back to our camps I would imagine they were tired, with little food and energy. I would also assume
they probably were a bit reluctant and did not see the need to walk around the city, blow horns etc. I
sure they thought why aren t we preparing to fight? How is this helping us? This does not make any
sense? Although the instruction from God was a bit strange and uncomprehensive, still they obeyed
and put their faith in the Lord, that he will fulfill his promise. Because they did what was told to him,
they defeated a city that outnumbered the army of Israelites with more military resources. Everything
that God said would come to pass, DID! Their obedience got them to victory! ... Show more content

A Hanging George Orwell Analysis
George Orwell, an experienced Assistant Superintendent in the British Imperial Police, composed A
Hanging after his resignation in 1927. The narrative is a personal testimony set in the 1920 s in
Burma. Orwell uses the classical techniques of formal argument to depict the death of an unknown
prisoner, while taking a position against the death penalty. George Orwell s Abolitionist message in A
Hanging is conveyed through the prisoner, dog, functionaries, and their actions, words, and body
language.
The writer implies the prisoner s humanity by describing his emotions and ability to reason. After the
execution, the Eurasian boy tells Orwell when the prisoner found out he would be hung, he pissed on
the floor of his cell (Orwell 102). The boy s story signifies the prisoner s human characteristics
through his reaction, as he was so scared he urinated on himself. As John Rodden notes, this
happening creates sympathy (73). The action humanizes the prisoner, connecting the readers to him.
Likewise, George Orwell details the condemned man s human like traits by describing the prisoner
avoiding a puddle directly before his execution. This simple act causes a realization that the prisoner is
also human. John Rodden states, The narrorator reinforces this point by drawing attention to the
prisoner s humanity, as he a dead man walking diligently sidesteps a puddle (72). Rodden suggest that
the dead man still has dignity to sidestep the puddle. The illustration of the prisoner s response to his
death sentence and his avoidance of the water brings to the reader s attention that capital punishment
is taking another human life.
George Orwell conveys the prisoner as human in order to emphasis the dehumanization of capital
punishment. As George Orwell states, He and we were a party of men walking together, seeing,
hearing, feeling, understanding, the same world, and in two minutes, with a sudden snap, one of us
would be gone (101). Orwell implies the prisoner is no different from him; yet, by killing the
condemned man he is taking away his humanity. The author explains the prisoner s gait and stance as
steady, bobbing from side to side with his knees bent. He does not protest, as he has accepted his fate.

Amyloid Cascade Hypothesis
The amyloid cascade hypothesis is the most widely accepted of the AD pathogenesis hypotheses. Its
principle is that the accumulation of Aβ plays a major role in AD pathogenesis, and the disease is
analyzed as a series of abnormalities in the process and secretion of the amyloid precursor protein
(APP), where an inequality between production and clearance of amyloid β is the triggering event and
the most important factor responsible for other abnormalities observed in AD (Hardy et al, 2002;
Cummings et al, 2007). Amyloid β is a peptide with high resistance to proteolytic degradation. It
consists of 37 43 amino acids with different isoforms (Deane et al, 2009). Aβ is the result of sequential
cleavage of the amyloid precursor protein (APP), generating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Autosomal dominant mutations in APP, PSEN1, or PSEN2 that alter APP processing and the
production or self aggregation of Aβ, promote aggregation and accumulation of Aβ in brain causing
early onset AD (Bertram et al., 2010).
It has been found that the oligomeric forms of Aβ were more dangerous than its monomers, acting
intracellularly and extracellularly leading to the disruption of several downstream mechanisms, such
as the disruption of intracellular calcium homeostasis (Camandola and Mattson, 2011), and
impairments of axonal transport and mitochondrial functions (Decker et al., 2010; Querfurth and
LaFerla, 2010; Sheng and Cai, 2012). In addition, several lines of evidence suggest that Aβ regulates
neuronal and synaptic activities and that its accumulation in the brain causes aberrant network activity
and synaptic depression (Palop and Mucke, 2010). Impairments of inhibitory interneurons and
aberrant stimulation of glutamate receptors result in excitotoxicity, and play important upstream roles
in this pathogenic cascade. These impairments also lead to a positive feedback loop, where aberrant
neuronal activity augments Aβ production, which in turn leads to further neuronal damage (Palop and

Social Responsibility And Shareholder Theory
In recent years, society insistently demands from corporations actively participate in his life. The main
idea is next, inasmuch as corporation is extracted from society a certain income, they therefore obliged
him to pay. What is a social responsibility of business today? What should do executives only satisfy
shareholders or they have also obligations to society?
One of the most famous studies about social responsibility and shareholder theory presents in the
article of economist Milton Friedman named The Social Responsibility of Business Is to Increase Its
Profits , which has been published in 1970n. In this article author, who has subsequently rewarded
with the Nobel Prize, was formulated main points of shareholders theory and denounced the whole
concept of socially responsible business. Friedman declared, There is one and only one social
responsibility of business to use its resources and engage in activities designed to increase its profits
so long as it stays within the rules of the game (214). He defenses his view using next arguments.
First, he pointed that the primary responsibility of managers is the fulfillment of desires owners of the
company, hence shareholders. The wishes of shareholders are reduced mainly to one thing, namely to
bring the company the highest possible income. In this case executive s responsibility is to conduct the
business in accordance with their [shareholders] desires, which generally will be to make as much
money as possible

When a business use scenario planning to explore the macro environment regarding to social,
technological, economic and political issues , it will obtain significant achievement (Ratcliffe,2000).
For instance, nowadays ANZ is considered as the best famous bank for the fact of connection between
Australian banks. Additionally, it is also in a well establishment in Asia market because it has planning
to be active in Asia. It is clear that ANZ will be further to obtain long term sustainable growth and
profitability.
Different from scenario planning, forecasting is concerned with what will happen. Vander Heijden
(2005) shows that the scenario planning is designed to get people to ask question whereas the task of
forecasting is giving the answer (p.6). According to Choi (2011), forecast will be suggested by
managers which helps to strengthen the relationship between returns of future profits. It is also
increasing the company s future profitability. This report will argue that when Australian banks adopt
forecasting and scenario planning, they definitely have enjoyed success in Asia in time.

Kimba K Cine 105 Tues/ Thurs 6:00 p.m. Fear Loathing in Las Vegas/ Film Analysis August 14, 2011
In the film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Johnny Depp delivered an over the top performance with
his depiction of Hunter S. Thompson, the notoriously wild and drug addicted father of gonzo
journalism. His acting is considered believable as Depp applied a variety of techniques to accurately
portray this author. Depp used facial expressions to convey the roller coaster of tumultuous emotion in
which Thompson openly existed. Throughout the film, Depp applied many exaggerated facial
expressions; opening his eyes widely, or squinting, and shooting quick darting glances about, each
time clutching a cigarette holder in his teeth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He alludes to the fact that he should have as well, and further ruminates on his past. The audience is
offered an accompanying montage of hippies frolicking and Thompson s version of being alive and
there in that corner of the world, during better times. Thompson states We were doing what was right,
and we were winning. The romanticized image is next shattered when he awakens with a Z on his
forehead in a trashed hotel room with Gonzo missing. These narrated thoughts continue to portray
Thompson as introspective when he leaves Vegas in pursuit of Baker. His constant state of paranoia
prevents him from reading the telegram, and without Gonzo to stabilize him, he runs literally away.
His narration at this point in the film allows for a critical analysis of the life of the character himself.
He stammers, The weasels are closing in, waves of paranoia, intolerable vibrations in this place,
madness while begging the lord for a few more hours to get out. This shows the anxious state of the
character and speaks of his inability to behave this manner without the support system of Gonzo to
hold him up. As Gonzo is his attorney, he is privy to the truth of Thompson s shortcomings and aids in
steering him back on track when deemed necessary. Without Gonzo there to do so, he becomes self
critical of his situation and destructive behavior and examines his lost

All of these contra indications will prohibit treatment, and client should seek medical/treatment advice
at their earliest convenience, and offer to reschedule. You must not give any medical advice as this is
not professional and may cause your client distress and alarm, but explain to your client the concerns
you have and why you would not look to apply any treatment to eyelash or eyebrows. A doctors note

Inflammation is an area raised up from skin surface and normally can be found to have skin irritation

surrounding area has any inflammation, but again, explain your concerns in a manner that does not
alarm them, ask they seek medical advice before proceeding (providing a doctors note should the

Summary Of Chaim Potok s The Chosen
In the world today finding someone full of wisdom is rare. In the book The Chosen, Chaim Potok
depicts four extremely wise men: Reb Saunders, David Malter, Reuven Malter, and Danny Saunders.
The younger boys Reuven Malter and Danny Saunders, are the sons of Reb Saunders and David
Malter. These men demonstrate knowledge in many areas of their lives, and all strive to improve, learn
more about God, and understand the world around them. The fathers and their sons seek wisdom and
knowledge through schooling, show wisdom in their relationships and friendships with each other, and
pursue personal excellence.
These two families embrace education as essential, and the families do not take it lightly. The boys
were expected to do well and at times school consumed their entire lives. Reuven, who planned to
become a rabbi like his father, was an excellent mathematician, and thought logically. Danny loved
psychology and reading, but due to his father being a very strict Hasidic Jewish Rabi, he did not allow
Danny the luxury to study books other than the Talmud. But to study Torah is not such a simple thing.
Torah is a task for all day and all night. (132). As a result, Danny often snuck to a place in the library
to read and study other things. He could not get enough and even began questioning whether or not he
wanted to be a rabbi as expected. His father was counting on him to take his place, and if he did not it
would disgrace the family. Both fathers held similar views on schooling and the importance of
education and wisdom. They knew that in order for their sons to fulfill their roles in life or to follow
their dreams the boys needed an education.
The relationships between the boys brought the families a little closer than before. Although Reb
Saunders and Mr. Malter did not agree on their theology they had one huge thing in common, Danny
and Reuven were best friends. Their fathers poured wisdom into their friendship so that it could be
strong and lasting. You remember what the Talmud says. If a person comes to apologize for having
hurt you, you must listen and forgive him. (63). Mr. Malter explained to Reuven that he should forgive
Danny who had come to ask for forgiveness after hitting Reuven in

minutes. To complete a typical transaction, the customer swipes a finger, enters a PIN and selects a
payment source.
Why biometric payment In order to get consumers and merchants to use biometric payment there has
to be benefits in using it. With identity theft and fraudulent activity increasing, biometric based
solutions can provide increased security and confidentiality of personal and financial data. This is
more secure than PIN numbers, passwords, social security numbers and signatures. Biometrics can
authenticate an individual trait that are difficult, if not impossible, to copy or forge. People misplace
things. Credit cards, check books, wallets even cell phones can be misplaced, lost or stolen.
Fingerprints are portable, reliable and they are always in your possession. It is also convenient, no

Disruptive Behaviors In The Classroom
Students will always display disruptive behaviors in classrooms. Sometimes one teacher is responsible
for twenty five students, so disruptive behaviors will surely happen. I think what is important is how
educators handle these situations. Some common disruptive behaviors for a third grade classroom are
calling out, talking, breaking the classroom rules, talking back, not focusing on the lesson, yelling, and
staying seated. The key to managing disruptive situations and maximizing learning in a third grade
classroom is good classroom management. Being an effective classroom manager is the most
important role for a teacher, and with good classroom management, a teacher can stop the disruptive
behaviors from continuing. Classroom management is difficult for early teachers. If students are not

Throughout the first weeks, the effective managers spend quite a bit of time teaching rules and
procedures. Some use guided practice, others use rewards to shape behavior (Woolfolk 525). By
making clear class room rules, teachers can establish procedures for rule breaking, or disruptive
behavior in class. If I saw a disruptive behavior such as a student who repeatedly calls out in my
classroom during a lesson, I would handle the situation by understanding that this student WANTS to
answer questions, they want my personal reassurance because they are answering the questions I ask,
just not how I want them to respond. I would be sure to make eye contact with them, and go over the
class room rule of not calling out, we must raise our hands . If the behavior continued and was

The Horse After The Kentucky Derby By Heidi Van De Motter
From Track to Triumph
Do you ever wonder what happens to the horses after the Kentucky Derby? Some retire peacefully
after a life on the track, some are rehomed but many are sold to slaughter for the sake of a paycheck.
Luckily, there are activists in the equestrian world standing ready to take these in these helpless
athletes. Gallop On, a non profit thoroughbred rescue located in northern Ohio, was founded to do just
that.
Heidi Van De Motter, the owner of Gallop On, currently has 15 horses in her care. Her goal is to have
them retrained and sold for the use of another sport.
Thousands of Thoroughbred racehorses will have only a three to four year racing career if any at all.
There may be no future for them at all and possibly slaughter. Van De Motter said.
Horses are trained by Heidi s interns in basic dressage and jumping, very different from their past of
galloping counter clockwise around a racetrack. Thoroughbreds have acquired a false stigma, similar
to that of pitbull dogs, making them difficult to home. The thoroughbred is a flighty breed, they are
designed to be fast and agile. These biological tendencies are reinforced after race training when they
are taught only to gallop as fast as possible.
Very few people invest money in the training of their retired racehorses. That puts them at an extreme
disadvantage in the sport horse world. Steuart Pittman, president of the Retired Racehorse Project,
said.

Friedrich Nietzsche, The German Philosopher
Tia Holenstein Professor Tevanyan RS 100 20 October 2015 Nietzsche and Agnosticism I chose to
conduct my research on Friedrich Nietzsche, the German philosopher. One of the main reasons I
decided on him, is because of my personal beliefs. I am agnostic and Nietzsche s philosophy has an
atheistic view on religion, which I resonate with. Nietzsche was born in a small village in Germany on
October 15th 1844. He often spoke of an idea called life affirmation , which basically means
questioning everything honestly. He is one of the most famous philosophers and he had an interesting
look at philosophy. He believed philosophy was not a critique of words by means of other words
(untimely meditations) but it is a practical way to help your self grow, overcome and become a greater
person. By doing this one would be able to affirm life no matter what tragedies you are faced with,
There are heights of the soul from which even tragedy ceases to look tragic (Beyond Good and Evil).
He considered himself to be a teacher to these great individuals or the higher man his target audience.
Inside the higher man there are different instincts/drives that are forever battling making them a
chaotic being. This results in suffering and possible self destruction. To reach life affirmation one must
take hold of this chaos inside of them. Because that isn t an easy thing to do, a person might give in to
a Herd Instinct . The Herd instinct exists in everyone and is easy to fall into. It is

Carbon Fiber Essay
INTRODUCTION
Background
Aerospace design applications rely heavily on weight reduction, structural integrity and optimize
performance. Engineers and designers have adopted carbon fiber composite due to its high modulus
reinforcement fibers embedded in an epoxy matrix. Also called graphite fiber or carbon graphite,
carbon fiber consists of very thin strands of the element carbon. Each fiber is 5 10 microns in diameter
as shown on Figure 1, one micron (um) is 0.000039 inches. Carbon fiber composite material is a
special candidate for aerospace applications because of its high tensile strength, corrosion and fire
resistant properties, which provides functional integrity by design, results in high strength and light
weight construction that could be formed into practically any shape or form. These fibers are
constructed with multiple laminate which are bonded together with a matrix or resin system. When
combined with resin and wound or molded to form composite materials, a high strength to weight
ratio is achieved.
Figure 1.

Carbon Composite Materials Under industrial production now, carbon fibers are classified into PAN

rayon based. The manufacturing of carbon fiber involves a chemical and mechanical process. Mixing

Royal Australian Marines in the Play, Our Country is Good
Our Country is Good is set in the late 1700s in Australia. The play is about Royal Marines who were
sent to colonize the country and the convicts sent there also to spend out their sentencing. The play
focuses on how the group of convicts, along with Second Lieutenant Clark, put on a play for the King
because he was suffering from an illness during that time. Second Lieutenant Clark decides to put on a
play called the Recruiting Officer by George Farquhar, which was a very popular play in the time
period.
Many things come into play after the announcement of the play being put on by convicts. There are
several themes in the play, such as the judicial system and punishment, and sexuality. The underlining
theme, the one with the repeating patterns and symbol, was redemption and theater as a humanizing
experience. The judicial system used in Australia during that time period was during the Georgian era,
which was the system used in England. This was the harshest system of Europe, and possibly the
world during the era. Any crime, especially crimes that were minute, was punishable by hanging. The
public usually gave punishments for crimes to the criminals. In that era, the public was more
concerned about crimes such as theft and less concerned about crimes such as murder. The judicial
system and its way of giving punishments mostly did not fit the crimes; criminals would be hanged for
stealing food or money. Equality in sexes is another evident theme of the play. The convict

A Comparison Of Pablo Picasso And Zaha Hadid
Does one ever question what opposition to cultural trends can lead someone? What if they were to
question they type of success that could erupt from dislocating and distorting one s work into a brand
unique to no one but yourself? Pablo Picasso and Zaha Hadid were two of the most successful artists
within the modernist movement. Both Picasso and Hadid laid the foundation for their success with a
strong educational background. Each artist understood their sheer talent and works would not
contribute to their succession alone. Picasso and Hadid sought the importance of defining one s brand
on a global scale. Building a connection between a consumer and their product, both Picasso and
Hadid knew that their talent and business practices would allow them to convey themselves naturally
in a world immersed with commercialization. Their profound ability to know which patrons
(sponsors) to conduct business with, and proper distribution without flooding the market, allowed
Picasso and Hadid s work to stay in demand.
Born to on October 25, 1881 to Jose Ruiz Blaso, Pablo Picasso did not know that he would become
one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Displaying an extraordinary talent for art at a
young age, Picasso s father (a professor of art) decided to mentor Picasso s passion for the lapiz. With
the death of his sister at age thirteen, his family moved to Barcelona, where his father took a position
in the School of Fine Arts. Pablo s father successfully

Comparison Of In The Atlantic And In The Atlantic
In various occasions there have been several scandals with celebrities and other important people.
Some celebrities and athletes have successfully dodged the media attention on some scandals.
However, Ryan Lochte was not fortunate enough to keep his scandal a secret, and was soon exposed
to the world of his wronging s during the Olympic Games. Soon after his exposure, many companies
that sponsored Lochte wanted out. Speedo was one of the main brands to discontinue Lochte s sponsor
and released an explanation on twitter. In addition, The Atlantic wrote about the issue with Lochte and
the several companies that were quick to end their sponsorship with Lochte. Both texts are different,
but each are a representation of what happens when someone like Lochte makes mistakes. While the
speedo tweet only focuses on Lochte and their brand, The Atlantic expands on the various decisions of
other companies. While both authors do an excellent job of conveying and interpreting their reasoning,

The Atlantic is a well known news site that provides articles of the news to the public for free.
Furthermore, Calamur is the senior editor at The Atlantic, and is not some random individual who
writes blogs and uploads them online, he is the real deal. In addition to his credibility as an author,
Calamur does not only limit himself to speedo s leaving, he incorporates the other three sponsorships
that have ended their deal with Lochte. Not only speedo ended Lochte s sponsorship, but also Ralph
Lauren, Gentle Hair Removal, and Airweave. All four of the companies were official suppliers
specifically for Team USA (Calamur). As the reader reads through the article, there is more
information the article has to offer and involves some of the background info concerning the Lochte
situation. After reading the article, the author has firmly and efficiently presented his ethos through the

Essay The Extinction of The Dinosaurs
Rapid climate change also ends up on the suspect list of possible dinosaur extinction events. During
the latter part of the Cretaceous Period continents broke up causing volcanoes to erupt and fill the sky
with gas and ash resulting in a drastic climate change ( Dinosaurs Climate Change and Biodiversity ).
The shifting of continents changed the Earth s landscape, altering weather patterns and overall climate
( Dinosaur Extinction Theories ). Also, over a long period of time, climate gradually changed. Ocean
habits changed, temperatures grew much more extreme causing scorching summers and frigid winters
(Norell, Dingus, and Gaffney). Radical temperature changes like these led to a green house effect,
making life for the dinosaurs a lot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They say as mammals continued to evolve, they drove the dinosaurs into extinction ( What Killed the
Dinosaurs ). Not only did mammals likely compete with dinosaurs for resources, many species
survived the end Cretaceous extinction and subsequently came to dominate Earth. ( What Killed the
Dinosaurs? ). This is primarily because the early mammals were a lot smaller than the mammals that
exist today. Some of the world s earliest mammals were the multituberculates, a group of small rodent
like animals that first emerged on Earth about 165 million years ago. (Welsh, Jennifer). Scientists
predict that any mass extinction event that caused animals to go extinct affected larger animals than it
did the smaller animals, such as mammals ( Dinosaurs Became Extinct due to Laying Eggs ).
Mammals remained small for almost 100 million years, while they out competed small and baby
dinosaurs for food, shelter and resources until they were extinct. Once the dinosaurs were out of the
way mammals were able to evolve and grow large in size like the mammals that exist today today
(LiveScience). Fossil evidence sheds some light on this theory as well. Fossils of mammals believed
to date back to about eighty five million years ago show that mammals began to change rapidly and
grow. This matches up with other mammal groups, including recently discovered species from the
Late Cretaceous (between 100 million and 65 million years ago) showing highly specialized

Bill Of Right At The International Level
Bill of rights
The idea of a bill of right at the international level was conceived at the time of framing the charter of
the U.N.at the San Francisco conference in 1945, at which the organization was established. President
Truman of the US in his closing speech to the conference stated that under the charter we have good
reason to expect the framing of an international bill of rights, acceptable to all the nations involved.
That bill of rights will be as much part of international life as our own bill of rights is a part of our
constitution. (1) International bill of human rights consists of the UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF
HUMAN RIGHTS (UDHR), the international covenant on civil and political rights along with its
protocol and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also emphasized the need for international protection of human rights. The conscience of human
beings worldwide was shocked by Mussolini s fascist government of Italy, the Spanish civil war and
the Franco regime. The most significant formulation of this vision of a new international legal order
was the message to the US congress, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in January 1941 in which he
referred to the four freedoms : freedom of speech and expression, freedom of worship, freedom from
want and freedom from fear which were among the foundations upon which planning for the united
nation was started. In 1945 at the San Francisco Conference, where the UN Charter was finally
drafted, several actors contributed to the greater emphasis on human rights. Although the suggestion
of creating a commission on human rights was controversial among the great powers, the US finally
achieved its adoption. Thus, a commission on human rights was the only one explicitly mentioned in
the UN charter, and consequently, the human rights issue had got a flying start within the United
Nations. United nation was formally established on 24th October 1945.Human rights issue were
assigned to the economic and social council (ECOSOC), at the first session of which the nuclear
commission on human rights was set up. This commission met in April/May 1946 and made
recommendation on composition and terms of reference. These matters were finally decided by the
ECOSOC s second session, in which full

  • 2. Speedy Motors Inc ISSUE Under Florida statutes and cases pertinent to inadvertent disclosure, is Mr. Beene required to return the privileged documents when (1) the products liability team inspected each document included in the discovery; (2) the inadvertent disclosure occurred once; (3) the degree of disclosure was miniscule; (4) timely objections were made at the deposition; and (5) opposing counsel had already built a case around documents that included correspondence that were intended to be privileged? BRIEF ANSWER Yes. This is due to the fact that reasonable precautions were taken by having the products liability team examine each document, and furthermore, having a paralegal sit in with Mr. Beene while he was sifting through the documents. Macronutrients are relatively needed in large amounts. I had consumed a vast quantity of these nutrients during my three day period. For example, 21 water bottles along with the above mentioned proteins, carbohydrates and lipids. Micronutrient Intake Ranges Macronutrients are an important part of your daily intake since they provide the body with calories and energy. These nutrients are needed for metabolism and growth of the body. The three macronutrients are carbohydrates, protein, and fat (McKinley Health Center, 2008). It is important to that macronutrient intake be within the recommended intake range. Having a diet that consists of too much or too little of a macronutrient could be harmful to the body. If you eat too many macronutrients, you could gain fat and if you eat too little macronutrients you could lose healthy fat, which would cause the body to break down. If you consistently eat too little protein, carbohydrates, or lipids, the body would be malnourished, which could have devastating effects on your health. Fiber Intake Ranges My fiber intake was 41.1% of the recommended daily intake. I definitely feel that my fiber intake over the three days is about right. Class And Gender Analysis Class and Gender can Change a lot of Things Many centuries prior to the nineteenth one there has been numerous indications of the severity in horrible treatment of women, men and children. As one would look into any decent history book, their would be pages on chapters of the treatment of the civilization in them. Depending on what century one was looking into determined the good or bad treatment. However some of the most documented treatment would have to be in the nineteenth century. Women are also held to the responsibilities of the children to ensure them getting ready on time, and are respectable in a group seating. Women are still paid less than men. Men are still recognized as the breadwinners. Also, class plays a huge outcome in the stance of where you live, how hard you work, and if you are educated or not. Violence has been apart of our world ever since the beginning of time, and therefore has become a part of our daily lives. Acts of violence are ubiquitous and can be witnessed in myriad forms; whether it s on the news, social media, films, shows, video games and even cartoons. A young child can watch gory films as well as play violent video games without any adult supervision easily with no problem if he or she wanted to. Trying to avoid this scenario from happening would not only be fatuous but also preposterous. Advanced technology has facilitated the access to any sort of violent content for any individual, with little to no boundaries. Violence manifested in the media has caused a negative chain of effects in our society by promoting violence to children, changing our morality and encouraging violence in real life. With this object in mind, violence in the media is negatively influencing our society by constantly promoting vicious behavior to children in ample forms, with no regulations what so ever. • 8. A Brief Note On Culture And Everyday Life Culture and Everyday Life The term culture itself, is very broad. It is defined in many different ways by many different people around the world. Culture includes all the aspects from your everyday life. Most people don t know it, but everything you do is part of your culture; it is a tradition. Culture consists of things such as clothes, family, food, and religion, all the way to recreation, gender roles, music, and art. However, when you enter a new type of environment with your own cultural heritage, it forces you to adapt and change. With this, a person s culture consistently informs the way we view the world and others. • 11. Importance Of The Micro Economic Environment Activity one: 1.1Explain the importance of the micro economic environment to business organisations: Microeconomics looks at how individual players in the economy, such as households and firms, interact. It focuses on the impact that their economic choices have on the allocation of scarce resources to meet unlimited demand. These interactions match what one party wants or demands in economic term and what the other gives in exchange (supply). Each time someone buys a chocolate bar from a newsagent or undertakes the morning paper round, there s an interaction between supply and demand (ESRC). The collective way of all the decisions on demand and supply, use of resources and opportunity costs made by millions of people or firms sets the price for goods, services, assets and labour demand and supply therefore form the main principle that underlines all microeconomics (ESRC). However, the actual 80/20 split doesn t always hold up in the real world. Sometimes it is 90/10 or 70/30 or some other ratio that favors unevenness. The main point is that things are not distributed evenly. This observation holds true for things such as the distribution of wealth among the population, or of the distribution of talent among the population. It doesn t matter if the talent is musical, athletic, or ability to make sales. For example, within any business organization, academic school, or sports team, there will always be a few top performers. As mentioned before, the 80 20 rule doesn t just apply to people. Saul Silver from the movie Pineapple Express has a silly personality, which I believe is a characteristic that I posses as well. When you help someone, it can make someone s day, or make them want to help someone else, including you. Because of this, not only you feel better but others will want to help you to. Characters who help someone will receive a benefit, even if they do not know it at the start. Term Paperm on Personal Legend THE ALCHEMIST By Paulo Coelho New York: Harper Collins Publishers, 1993 ISBN # 0 06 250218 2 (paper) 174 pages Comments by Bob Corbett November 2009 This is a lovely book, tender but profound. It is about the importance of seeking one s own meaning of life and spending one s life fulfilling it. Coelho calls it seeking one s Personal Legend. It reminds me very much of what the Existentialists would have called authenticity. Coelho writes a beautiful and moving legend of the boy s journey and enlightenment. I did find the title rather odd. There is an alchemist in the novel whom the shepherd boy meets and who, indeed, helps him in many ways and actually sort of makes the shepherd boy into an alchemist himself. But the use of the definite article the in the title seems a bit confusing. It would seem, on Coelho s account, that anyone who actually achieves his or her Personal Legend becomes an alchemist, changing the baser life we have from birth into the gold of our own Personal Success. But this is a journey upon which any person may embark. On the other hand Coelho seems right to me in bringing in the influential alchemist whom the boy meets in the north African desert. I think most of us who have seriously undertaken this journey meet people along the way who teach us and inspire us toward this mysterious and even occult route toward our Personal Legend. I m 70 now and still on my journey, and like the boy, have arrived at various stages I once was almost sure were arrival points, only to discover another stage of enlightenment along the way. The two readers I did not assess I knew would benefit from fluency based on observations of student s reading fluency when they have volunteered to read aloud in class. All of my students need some type of fluency instruction and there was not a single student who has mastered an area of fluency instruction. Technical Reflection In administering the word per minute assessment, I think I excelled at making the students feel comfortable while giving the assessment. I had the student working with me at a small table while the rest of the class did independent work. I let the student know I was going to record them, so I could listen to it later. Scripture: Joshua 6: 1 27 This particular scripture in the Bible illustrates what happens when you follow God s instruction. God has given Joshua specific instruction to ensure his army s victory over Jericho. They were instructed to march around the city, blow horns and do what I m sure they though; really weird things. I could only imagine Joshua telling his troupes Hey we need to go walk around this City a few times and then go back to our camps I would imagine they were tired, with little food and energy. I would also assume they probably were a bit reluctant and did not see the need to walk around the city, blow horns etc. I sure they thought why aren t we preparing to fight? How is this helping us? This does not make any sense? Although the instruction from God was a bit strange and uncomprehensive, still they obeyed and put their faith in the Lord, that he will fulfill his promise. • 24. A Hanging George Orwell Analysis George Orwell, an experienced Assistant Superintendent in the British Imperial Police, composed A Hanging after his resignation in 1927. The narrative is a personal testimony set in the 1920 s in Burma. Orwell uses the classical techniques of formal argument to depict the death of an unknown prisoner, while taking a position against the death penalty. George Orwell s Abolitionist message in A Hanging is conveyed through the prisoner, dog, functionaries, and their actions, words, and body language. The writer implies the prisoner s humanity by describing his emotions and ability to reason. After the execution, the Eurasian boy tells Orwell when the prisoner found out he would be hung, he pissed on the floor of his cell (Orwell 102). The boy s story signifies the prisoner s human characteristics through his reaction, as he was so scared he urinated on himself. As John Rodden notes, this happening creates sympathy (73). The action humanizes the prisoner, connecting the readers to him. Likewise, George Orwell details the condemned man s human like traits by describing the prisoner avoiding a puddle directly before his execution. This simple act causes a realization that the prisoner is also human. John Rodden states, The narrorator reinforces this point by drawing attention to the prisoner s humanity, as he a dead man walking diligently sidesteps a puddle (72). Rodden suggest that the dead man still has dignity to sidestep the puddle. The illustration of the prisoner s response to his death sentence and his avoidance of the water brings to the reader s attention that capital punishment is taking another human life. George Orwell conveys the prisoner as human in order to emphasis the dehumanization of capital punishment. As George Orwell states, He and we were a party of men walking together, seeing, hearing, feeling, understanding, the same world, and in two minutes, with a sudden snap, one of us would be gone (101). Orwell implies the prisoner is no different from him; yet, by killing the condemned man he is taking away his humanity. The author explains the prisoner s gait and stance as steady, bobbing from side to side with his knees bent. He does not protest, as he has accepted his fate. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Amyloid Cascade Hypothesis The amyloid cascade hypothesis is the most widely accepted of the AD pathogenesis hypotheses. Its principle is that the accumulation of Aβ plays a major role in AD pathogenesis, and the disease is analyzed as a series of abnormalities in the process and secretion of the amyloid precursor protein (APP), where an inequality between production and clearance of amyloid β is the triggering event and the most important factor responsible for other abnormalities observed in AD (Hardy et al, 2002; Cummings et al, 2007). Amyloid β is a peptide with high resistance to proteolytic degradation. It consists of 37 43 amino acids with different isoforms (Deane et al, 2009). Autosomal dominant mutations in APP, PSEN1, or PSEN2 that alter APP processing and the production or self aggregation of Aβ, promote aggregation and accumulation of Aβ in brain causing early onset AD (Bertram et al., 2010). It has been found that the oligomeric forms of Aβ were more dangerous than its monomers, acting intracellularly and extracellularly leading to the disruption of several downstream mechanisms, such as the disruption of intracellular calcium homeostasis (Camandola and Mattson, 2011), and impairments of axonal transport and mitochondrial functions (Decker et al., 2010; Querfurth and LaFerla, 2010; Sheng and Cai, 2012). In addition, several lines of evidence suggest that Aβ regulates neuronal and synaptic activities and that its accumulation in the brain causes aberrant network activity and synaptic depression (Palop and Mucke, 2010). Impairments of inhibitory interneurons and aberrant stimulation of glutamate receptors result in excitotoxicity, and play important upstream roles in this pathogenic cascade. These impairments also lead to a positive feedback loop, where aberrant neuronal activity augments Aβ production, which in turn leads to further neuronal damage (Palop and Mucke, 2010; Bero et al., 2011; Verret et al., ... These men demonstrate knowledge in many areas of their lives, and all strive to improve, learn more about God, and understand the world around them. The fathers and their sons seek wisdom and knowledge through schooling, show wisdom in their relationships and friendships with each other, and pursue personal excellence. These two families embrace education as essential, and the families do not take it lightly. The boys were expected to do well and at times school consumed their entire lives. Reuven, who planned to become a rabbi like his father, was an excellent mathematician, and thought logically. Danny loved psychology and reading, but due to his father being a very strict Hasidic Jewish Rabi, he did not allow Danny the luxury to study books other than the Talmud. But to study Torah is not such a simple thing. Torah is a task for all day and all night. (132). As a result, Danny often snuck to a place in the library to read and study other things. He could not get enough and even began questioning whether or not he wanted to be a rabbi as expected. His father was counting on him to take his place, and if he did not it would disgrace the family. Both fathers held similar views on schooling and the importance of education and wisdom. They knew that in order for their sons to fulfill their roles in life or to follow their dreams the boys needed an education. The relationships between the boys brought the families a little closer than before. Although Reb Saunders and Mr. Malter did not agree on their theology they had one huge thing in common, Danny and Reuven were best friends. Their fathers poured wisdom into their friendship so that it could be strong and lasting. You remember what the Talmud says. Some retire peacefully after a life on the track, some are rehomed but many are sold to slaughter for the sake of a paycheck. Luckily, there are activists in the equestrian world standing ready to take these in these helpless athletes. Gallop On, a non profit thoroughbred rescue located in northern Ohio, was founded to do just that. Heidi Van De Motter, the owner of Gallop On, currently has 15 horses in her care. Her goal is to have them retrained and sold for the use of another sport. Thousands of Thoroughbred racehorses will have only a three to four year racing career if any at all. There may be no future for them at all and possibly slaughter. Van De Motter said. Horses are trained by Heidi s interns in basic dressage and jumping, very different from their past of galloping counter clockwise around a racetrack. Thoroughbreds have acquired a false stigma, similar to that of pitbull dogs, making them difficult to home. The thoroughbred is a flighty breed, they are designed to be fast and agile. These biological tendencies are reinforced after race training when they are taught only to gallop as fast as possible. Very few people invest money in the training of their retired racehorses. That puts them at an extreme disadvantage in the sport horse world. Steuart Pittman, president of the Retired Racehorse Project, said. The jockeys and handlers are experienced with this ... Friedrich Nietzsche, The German Philosopher Tia Holenstein Professor Tevanyan RS 100 20 October 2015 Nietzsche and Agnosticism I chose to conduct my research on Friedrich Nietzsche, the German philosopher. One of the main reasons I decided on him, is because of my personal beliefs. I am agnostic and Nietzsche s philosophy has an atheistic view on religion, which I resonate with. Nietzsche was born in a small village in Germany on October 15th 1844. He often spoke of an idea called life affirmation , which basically means questioning everything honestly. He is one of the most famous philosophers and he had an interesting look at philosophy. He believed philosophy was not a critique of words by means of other words (untimely meditations) but it is a practical way to help your self grow, overcome and become a greater person. By doing this one would be able to affirm life no matter what tragedies you are faced with, There are heights of the soul from which even tragedy ceases to look tragic (Beyond Good and Evil). Each fiber is 5 10 microns in diameter as shown on Figure 1, one micron (um) is 0.000039 inches. Carbon fiber composite material is a special candidate for aerospace applications because of its high tensile strength, corrosion and fire resistant properties, which provides functional integrity by design, results in high strength and light weight construction that could be formed into practically any shape or form. These fibers are constructed with multiple laminate which are bonded together with a matrix or resin system. The play is about Royal Marines who were sent to colonize the country and the convicts sent there also to spend out their sentencing. The play focuses on how the group of convicts, along with Second Lieutenant Clark, put on a play for the King because he was suffering from an illness during that time. Second Lieutenant Clark decides to put on a play called the Recruiting Officer by George Farquhar, which was a very popular play in the time period. Many things come into play after the announcement of the play being put on by convicts. There are several themes in the play, such as the judicial system and punishment, and sexuality. The underlining theme, the one with the repeating patterns and symbol, was redemption and theater as a humanizing experience. The judicial system used in Australia during that time period was during the Georgian era, which was the system used in England. This was the harshest system of Europe, and possibly the world during the era. Any crime, especially crimes that were minute, was punishable by hanging. Building a connection between a consumer and their product, both Picasso and Hadid knew that their talent and business practices would allow them to convey themselves naturally in a world immersed with commercialization. Their profound ability to know which patrons (sponsors) to conduct business with, and proper distribution without flooding the market, allowed Picasso and Hadid s work to stay in demand. The shifting of continents changed the Earth s landscape, altering weather patterns and overall climate ( Dinosaur Extinction Theories ). Also, over a long period of time, climate gradually changed. They say as mammals continued to evolve, they drove the dinosaurs into extinction ( What Killed the Dinosaurs ). Not only did mammals likely compete with dinosaurs for resources, many species survived the end Cretaceous extinction and subsequently came to dominate Earth. ( What Killed the Dinosaurs? ). This is primarily because the early mammals were a lot smaller than the mammals that exist today. Some of the world s earliest mammals were the multituberculates, a group of small rodent like animals that first emerged on Earth about 165 million years ago. (Welsh, Jennifer). Scientists predict that any mass extinction event that caused animals to go extinct affected larger animals than it did the smaller animals, such as mammals ( Dinosaurs Became Extinct due to Laying Eggs ). Mammals remained small for almost 100 million years, while they out competed small and baby dinosaurs for food, shelter and resources until they were extinct. Once the dinosaurs were out of the way mammals were able to evolve and grow large in size like the mammals that exist today today (LiveScience). Fossil evidence sheds some light on this theory as well. Fossils of mammals believed to date back to about eighty five million years ago show that mammals began to change rapidly and grow. This matches up with other mammal groups, including recently discovered species from the Late Cretaceous (between 100 million and 65 million years ago) showing highly specialized ... The conscience of human beings worldwide was shocked by Mussolini s fascist government of Italy, the Spanish civil war and the Franco regime. Roosevelt in January 1941 in which he referred to the four freedoms : freedom of speech and expression, freedom of worship, freedom from want and freedom from fear which were among the foundations upon which planning for the united nation was started.
