Definition Of Humanity In Blade Runner
The film that will be thoroughly analysed throughout this essay is Blade Runner which is based
on the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? . This film was produced by Ridley Scott,
who explores how replicants associate in human society. The creators of the desirable replicants
display a company slogan that reads More humanthan human . The concept and definition of this
will be thoroughly analysed throughout this essay and its relation to the characters will be stated.
The definition of humanity and the true meaning of being human will be furthered explored in
relation to the film. The classification of being human is complicated as replicants and humans
display many similarities. The ethical aspects of the film contradict the ... Show more content on

As the film develops it is obvious they both struggle to understand their emerging emotions.
When the character of Deckard is evaluated it is obvious he struggles to come to terms with the
coldness of retiring the Replicants. This puts him in a predicament as he faces a psychological
battle. Although he is completing the task for the wellbeing of the remaining citizens he turns
to drinking as a form of comfort, displaying signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). In
comparison, over the journey of the story Roy, the alleged antagonist, developed emotions. This
caused the difference between humans and robots to decrease. At the beginning of the film,
Replicants are perceived as corrupt but this stereotype is broken when Roy Batty saves the life
of Deckard. He could ve allowed Deckard to fall to his death but he was overcome with emotion
and couldn t complete the task of murder. After saving him, Roy was retired as his intended four
year life span was complete. The was audience is left to question his development and evolution
towards humanity. The author demonstrated that through Roy s actions his purpose in this world
was accomplished and he had indeed become human. Overall the difference between being
labelled as good or bad is stereotyped. Replicants were perceived as bad people due to their
characterisation, this was broken through the development of emotion.

New Jersey History
When people think about New Jersey in todays time they think of beautiful beaches, good diners,
and its nickname the garden state . But what most people don t know is its history. Some don t
even know it was one of the thirteen original colonies. New Jersey also has a few sports teams that
people may recognize like the New JerseyDevils and the Atlantic City Cardsharks. New Jersey
one of the thirteen original colonies, was founded in 1664 by Lord Berkley and Sir George
Carteret because the king of France wanted to explore the unknown land in between
Newfoundland and Florida, the Dutch, Swedes, and the Finnish wanted to settle there because
of trading, and because the British took over because they wanted to add it to their colonies.
Giovanni Da Verrazano was the first European that traveled across the ocean in 1524 (Tamara Orr).
He was looking for an unknown area between Florida and Newfoundland. He ended up in what
people know today as New Jersey. He anchored off in Sandy Hook. The colonial history of New
Jersey started after Henry Hudson sailed through Newark Bay in 1609 (A Short History of New

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Immanuel Kant
Born in 1724 Immanuel Kant was a German philosopher whose work is considered to be the
highlight of modern philosophy. His work impacted ethics in a very big way. The fact that his
writing is among the most difficult to understand Kant believed the reason for this was the
source of morality, and his Critique of Pure Reason. Kant s theory, better known as deontological
theory holds truth in believing that doing the right thing and good will are motivating factors in
the ethical decision making process. His theory is an example of deontological theory but with
several weaknesses as well as strengths. I believe that lying is wrong just like Kant but I don t
agree that lying for the right reasons makes you a bad person. Kant s theory is an example of a
deontological moral theory. According to these theories, the rightness or wrongness of actions does
not depend on their consequences but on whether they fulfill our duty. Kant believed that there was
a supreme principle of morality, and he referred to it as The Categorical Imperative(CSUS, 2012).
A great example of Categorical Imperative would be Don t lie even though you might be lying to
benefit the other person it doesn t matter you shouldn t lie because it s the wrong thing to do. Kant
believed that in order to act in a morally correct manner everyone should act from duty. He also
believed that it wasn t the consequences of a person s actions, but their motivations that were

How To Manipulate Cognitive Dissonance
If one is trying to pull a thought or feeling in closer, or push it away, they may be attempting to
manipulate their cognitive dissonance. If one knows that they are not happy with their actions,
they can dilute that feeling of cognitive dissonance by decreasing the negative or enhancing the
positive attitudes about it (Smith Mackie, n.d.). One might be a smoker for instance, and know
that smoking is bad for them, but continue smoking anyway. A perception of a clash of unsuitable
elements is a way to describe the way one feels when their actions and beliefs are at odds
(McLeod, 2014). So, if one is unhappy about the things they do because they do not match what
they think they should do, they will be said to be experiencing cognitive dissonance.

Analyzing Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory
Conducting research on social learning is all well and good, but Albert Bandura saw a way to put
all he had learned to work. He recognized that not putting his new found knowledge to use would
result in nothing more than wasted time and research. So, Bandura began a crusade. However, his
cause would not be the only favorable affect Social Learning Theory would inspire. After
conducting the filmed Bobo doll experiment, Bandura noticed how children reacted to violenceon a
screen. As such, he made the connection between increased rough behavior in children after
watching violent televisionshows or playing gory video games. So, he showed his research to the
Federal Communications Commission and television broadcasters. This information moved them
to put some restrictions on how much violence could be aired on television. However, that was
back in the 1990 s and today s society has slacked. Now, it is a common sight to watch children
kick, punch, karate chop, clobber, and attack each other while playing.... Show more content on

Bandura also noticed that the theory works the other way around, too. After all, when children
see positive behavior they will emulate the good actions just as they would the negative. This
part of the theory benefits Christians in a mighty way. God knew when He created us that we
would need interaction with others. It is because God made people to learn socially and by
modeling other s behaviors that Christians desire to act as Christ like as possible. Another vital
implication of Social Learning Theory is the need for believers to go to church. On their own, a
Christian becomes bogged down and burnt out in the world. Church can reenergize and reignite a
Christian. As my Pastor illustrates it, a single charcoal briquette on the sidewalk will go cold
rapidly on its own, but put a whole mountain of briquettes out and they will be warm and toasty

Life Depicted In Thornton Wilder s Our Town
People live in perpetual motion their whole life. Our Town, by Thornton Wilder portrays
characters who live the same lives as their parents. They do not think of adapting their own lives
to make them happier and better suited for themselves instead of their parents. He points to
characters doing the same as others that are usually described by others as special. Their
mundane lives show that Wilder believes that lives are monotonous and that they need to be
improved upon. By repeatedly showing similarities in the characters lives, Wilder conveys the
message that humans live the same lives as each other because they are scared of change.
Romantic love is the same for each person: self serving and conceited. Emily and George have

People live in the same place as others in their family before them because they are petrified of
new events. As the play opens, the stage manager is giving a tour of the town. He shows the
different churches, shops, and houses. Then, he makes a morbid turn on his tour to say, The
earliest tombstones in the cemetery up there on the mountain say 1670 1680 they re Grovers
and Cartwrights and Gibbses and Herseys same names as are around here now (32). People have
infinite places to choose for where to live. One s location chooses their friends, culture, mindset,
leisure activities, and job, therefore deciding who they are as a person. Location determines
perspective by providing a set of experiences that determine one s values and ideals. These ideals
then determine how one goes about their life, and in doing so makes them the same person as
their ancestors decades and centuries ago. Living in the same town as family members creates the
same life as they have by creating the same life

More than 850 million people in developing countries are excluded from a wide range of
information and knowledge, with the rural poor in particular remaining isolated from both
traditional media and new information and communication technologies which would improve their
livelihoods.
The report of Ninth United Nations Communication for Development Roundtable says
Communication for Development lies at the heart of the challenge to actively involve poor people
in decision making procedures which affect their lives and to enable them to manage
communication processes and media. When successful, Communication for Development is a
powerful tool to mitigate poverty and hunger and to promote democratic processes and social

There are 2 areas that I am particularly interested in, Assessment and Selection and Induction as I

Assessment and Selection:
1. Ensure all internal and external interviewers and assessors are competent and fully trained in the
chosen approach, including those sourced from third parties.
In this area I could development a training programme that all interviewers and assessors would
have to undertake before being able to take part in recruitment events. The training could be both a
mix of soft skills and practical work to develop role playing and interview techniques. I would also
require everyone to pass a practical assessment at the end.
2. Develop and deliver assessment and selection processes to enable the organisation to make
informed choices about candidates based on a full range of information.
In this area I would have to evaluate what we needed to assess at the interview. What will the

Essay On The Sandman
The Sandman, A Hand crafted Nightmare A bedtime story is meant to guide children into a
peaceful sleep. That, however, is not the case when one talks about Paul Berry s The Sandman.
According to a friend of his, the late internationally respected animator Paul Berry started his
career in his home country the United Kingdom. There, he had worked on The Wind in The
Willows and The Fool of the World, done solely in stop motion. His Oscar nominated short The
Sandman placed his name onto the global stage and led him to many opportunities oversea,
including a position in Nightmare Before Christmas production team. Since its release in 1992,
The Sandman had become the recipient and winner of many film awards around the world
(Purves). With its story based on E.T.A. Hoffmenn s novella Der Sandmann (Willig), the magical
nighttime fairy is not what viewers typically know him for. A dark twist to a gentle bedtime story,
combined with clever use of color and distinctive style, turned The Sandman into a great piece of
stop motion animationstill known and enjoyed by animators today. The Sandman, contrary to its
name, is not your usual folklore. As film critic Caren Willig noted,... Show more content on

John Smith And Pocahontas Comparison
Love and compassion merely describes the surface of the story of Pocahontas. An individual
might only be able to see Disney s version, but upon further analysis, an individual can find that
the story is much more political and not as happy as it seems. In John Smith s account of
Pocahontas, Pocahontas is a woman who falls in love with him even against her father s warnings.
He was captured and supposed to be killed. This did not happen, as Pocahontasjumped in front of
Smith to save him. This is from the account of John Smith, and for generations, most of us have
watched the movie Pocahontas and fell for its plot. Deeper into the plot, it seems that Smith saves
Jamestown and the village in which Pocahontas resides in. Although John Smith is painted as a...

This event occurred in the early 1600 s, and as many stories are passed down, the content changes.
John Smith was a self promoter, and would lie in order to maintain his image. In fact, the story of
John Smith s romance with Pocahontas was fabricated simply because Smith wanted to maintain a
positive public identity. Smith was known to be an abrasive, ambitious, self promoting mercenary
soldier by his fellow colonists. Pocahontas s name meant the naughty one, and her real name was
Matoaka. She was simply named that because it fit in with Smith s account of Pocahontas.

Analysis Of Les Miserables
Les Miserables is by far one of my favorite stories/ movies. There are so many underlying views
though out. The original author of Les Miserables was Victor Hugo. Victor Hugo himself is a very
interesting gentleman that lived in a very complicated time period with lots of political issues,
which I believe come out in this movie.
Jean Valjean, is who Hugo chose as the hero of Les Miserables ultimately. However, in the
beginning it starts out by portraying him as a bad guy and someone who focuses on his hate. His
hate is directed at Inspector Javert, the officer who sentences him to his prison term, which was
hard labor. Jean Valjean s hatred for him, the inspector, and his vengeance tends to only fester
throughout the movie.
Once paroled, Jean Valjean discovers the bishop of Digne along his path. The bishop takes him
in and gives him a place to stay along food. Jean Valjean decides to steal the bishops silverware.
When the bishop discovers that Jean Valjean has stolen his silver he shows him mercy and tells
him kindly, Jean Valjean, my brother, you no longer belong to what is evil, but to what is good. I
have bought your soul to save it from black thoughts and the spirit of perdition, and I give it to God
. This explains the importance of forgiveness and ultimately helps Jean Valjean understand that
taking vengeance upon Javert, the inspector that sentenced him to hard labor, is not the answer.
The movie shows Jean Valjean s life from a sinner basically being redeemed by

I Am At Cedar Park
After months and months of waiting for a decision, I had come up with my own solution. The
money didn t seem as if it would come through for my brother and me to go to the private school

this morning I had just run the Color Run with one of my best friends, and I had just finished
hanging out with a group of my favorite people since we had to do a school project. It seemed as
if God was calling me to stay at Cedar Park, and then when my mom came to pick me from my
friend s house, she said that one sentence that changed my life; The money came through,
welcome to Hyde Park. I couldn t believe it. Up until this past weekend I was all for resigning from
my life at Cedar Park to go pursue a life at a new exciting school where I knew no one but my
brother. It had been a dream of mine since the summer before my sophomore year; I yearned for
the knowledge of how to find myself in a new place and to have the ability to play sports since I

The Partition Of India By Bapsi Sidhwa
Before the Partition of India, in 1947, India was considered a country with a reasonably peaceful
history. However, during and after the Partition, sexual violence, both towards men and women,
escalated, resulting in the rape and abduction of over 80,000 women. Cracking India, by Bapsi
Sidhwa, tells a story that highlights these violent acts by both Muslims and Hindus, through the
eyes of a disabled young Parsi girl named Lenny, who witnesses first hand the violenceof Partition
when she mistakenly participates in the abduction of her ayah, Shanta. Throughout Cracking India,
Lenny observes as the religions involved in Partition become increasingly violent towards both men
and women, within their own religions and against others. Lenny, who begins the novel as a very
naГЇve young Parsi girl, comes to understand that the foundations of violence in her surroundings
are largely gendered and that the experience of this violence is differentiated along gender lines
(Rastegar 27). Lenny witnesses the evolution of Ayah s suitors, (who are Parsi, Hinduand Muslim),
from men interested in being with Ayah to men who are desperate to control Ayah. As Partition
gets more violent, Ice Candy Man, one of Ayah s suitors who is Muslim, takes on the role of a
minor nationalist leader in their area and eventually coordinates a mob of Muslims to come to the
Sethi house an abduct Lenny, who is Hindu (Rastegar 27). When Lenny witnesses the change in

Joseph Haydn Farewell
It has been said that Franz Joseph Haydn is the father of the symphony and as so he is known for
his creative takes on traditional classic music which influenced composers for centuries to follow.
Haydn was not only a composer of symphonies, but wrote many pieces of sacred and secular vocal
music, chamber music, keyboard music, and operas. One of his most famous symphonies was the
SymphonyNo. 45, which was created during his operatic hiatus in EszterhГЎza and serves as a
petition or request of sorts towards the prince Nikolaus EsterhГЎzy. The piece, now commonly
referred to as Farewell , relayed the message that the court orchestra in EszterhГЎza wished to

Haydn is considered as the inventor of the string quartet, as he established the forms and styles.
Haydn was among the first composers to merge fugue into the classical style of music, evolve
the rondo form to include more tonal logic, and experiment with the double variation form. Also
as a composer, Haydn is most known for his infusion of humor, such as the startling chord during
a slow movement in his Surprise symphony or his false endings in various quartets. Haydn began
his work just as the influence of the High Baroque era was fading out and a new style had yet to
develop. As the genre of Classical music spawned and matured, so did Haydn s music; his later
work is notably more complex and urbane when compared to his earlier pieces. Haydn s career
never reached the magnitude and publicity of his contemporaries (Beethoven, Mozart, Bach), but
that does not mean his music was not irrefutably technically masterful, generically appropriate and
rhetorically convincing (Webster and

The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall Character Analysis
In The Jilting of Granny Weatherall by Katherine Anne Porter the character Granny Weatherall
has an interesting past that molds her personality. Granny Weatherall has many layers to her
character, ranging from a loving mother to an independent woman who refuses help when she
needs it most. Her life is constantly changing, and with it her personality and view on life shifts
as well. The short story is told through the eyes of Granny Weatherall in her last moments of
life. Being the independent woman she is, it is hard for her to grasp the fact she is dying and
there is nothing she can do to stop it, so she recollects on the parts of her life that developed her
personality. Granny Weatherall s complex personality and character depth causes her to become
such an amazing individual that has many different levels to be discovered and enjoyed. The
loss of Granny Weatherall s husband forced her to become an independent woman. Her
independence made her stronger and she displayed her stubbornness to strive any time she
could. Although she was a woman who was not extraordinarily strong, she tended to the land by
herself, such as when She had fenced in a hundred acres once, digging the post holes herself and
clamping the wires to upkeep her land (Porter 79). Even without a husband, she was able to do
many difficult tasks by herself. Mrs. Weatherall did not need help from others and often refused
it, even in her final moments of life Granny Weatherall told the doctor Leave a well woman
alone. I ll call for you when I want you (Porter 78). Granny Weatherall was able to raise her three
children, without the help of her late husband, and the children grew up loving their mother.
Granny Weatherall s level of commitment adds to her independence, due to the fact that after her
husband passed, she refused to marry again and continued to strive without a partner. Not only is
Granny Weatherall able to take care of herself, but she displays her compassion for others and
asks for nothing in return. Granny Weatherall s independence defines the amazing woman s legacy
of being capable of doing so much, without the help of others. Granny has an air of bitterness
around her, due to her being jilted and the loss of her husband and

Physical and Behavioral Responses to Starvation and...
Physical and Behavioral Responses to Starvation and Famine in Two Populations
Introduction
Famine is an event in which food and resources are inaccessible and the majority of a population is
endangered (Shipton, 1990). When applied to starvation this definition is accurate with one
additional idea: starvation is the result of inaccessibility to resources. Many factors contribute to the
progression of famine and the resulting starvation. One of the key factors to consider is the
delineation between naturally occurring and man made starvation and famine.
Naturally occurring famine is the result of agricultural or environmental causes such as lack of
rainfall or poor soil conditions. Man made famine is the deliberate denial of food ... Show more

and analysis of starvation in human subjects and is commonly used for interpreting starvation and
famine experiences under less controlled populations and circumstances. The results of the study
filled the urgent need after World War II for information on the physical changes that occur because
of semi starvation and what approach should be taken in rehabilitating starving people. The
parameters in addition to continuous residence at the Laboratory of Physiological
Hygiene at the University of Minnesota included strict dietary controls during the three stages of
the study: a twelve week control, a twenty four week semi starvation, and a twelve week period of
restricted rehabilitation. The diet consumed during the semi starvation period reflected the diet
typical of European areas that had or were experiencing famine. The food proportions and diets
were adjusted to each subject according to body size and relative obesity (Keys et al.,
1950).
Detailed accounts of the physical responses of the subjects and morphology of the body as it
underwent nutritional restriction were included in the study. There was an average decrease of
twenty five percent muscle tissue and subcutaneous fat, which caused much of the body to become
atrophied. The bones of the upper torso (specifically the clavicle and rib bones) became prominent
as soft tissues diminished. Dental caries, an expected

ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE MANAGEMENTTHE NEW IMPERATIVE
ABSTRACT
Change management is a systematic approach to dealing with change, both from the perspective of
an organization and on the individual level. A somewhat ambiguous term, change management has

This research paper is intended for everyone expected to lead, manage and implement change. It
covers every aspect of managing change, including essential principles, managing stakeholders,
dealing with resisters, building effective change teams and more.
Introduction
Significant organizational change occurs, for example, when an organization changes its overall
strategy for success, adds or removes a major section or practice, and/or wants to change the very
nature by which it operates. It also occurs when an organization evolves through various life cycles,
just like people must successfully evolve through life cycles. For organizations to develop, they
often must undergo significant change at various points in their development. That s why the topic
of organizational change and development has become widespread in communications about
business, organizations, leadership and management.
Leaders and managers continually make efforts to accomplish successful and significant change it s
inherent in their jobs. Some are very good at this effort (probably more than we realize), while
others continually struggle and fail. That s often the difference between people who thrive in their
roles and those that get shuttled around from job to job, ultimately settling into a role where they re
frustrated and ineffective.
There are many schools with educational programs about organizations, business, leadership and
management. Unfortunately, there still are not

My Most Memorable Experience In My Life
My heart was pounding out of my chest as I walked through the frigid, pitch black forest alone. I
could hear was the sound of the night wind blowing against the trees, crickets chirping in the tall
grass all around me, the stream flowing peacefully on my right, and my unsteady breath, which
seemed like the loudest. I walked, step by step, along a path I could barely make out. Am I going
off the trail? I questioned myself, and kept walkingthrough the silent forest. I was on my first, and
only solo night hike in Yellowstone, Wyoming. This was a night that I will remember forever.
Over the summer, I took a trip to Yellowstone, Wyoming with thirty eight other eighth graders and
high schoolers. The trip lasted almost two weeks and was one of the most memorable experiences
in my life, but there was one night that impacts me every single day since. On the third night that
we were staying at our campsite, my friends and I were getting ready for bed and hanging out
around the bonfire when the camp counselors made an announcement.
Everyone meet at the bonfire at 10:30 and bring nothing with you. No backpacks, phones,
flashlights, absolutely nothing. Dress warm because it s going to be cold tonight! announced Miss
Flower, one of the counselors.
My friends and I looked at each other, confused. What were we going to do? Where are we
going? What is going on? There were so many questions overfilling our minds, that none of the
counselors would answer. Time seemed to pass so slowly as we waited for an hour until we
were supposed to meet. No one had any idea what was going on, or what the night was going to
hold. When it was finally time, we hurried over to the bonfire to figure out what was happening.
We were shocked when Miss Flower just told us to just follow her and the other counselors down
the dirt road by our tents. She didn t answer any questions, where we going, what we were doing,
absolutely nothing.
We followed the counselors down the path, which led us to a one lane highway. Everyone crossed
quickly, even though there were no cars to be seen. There were no lights anywhere, except the soft
illumination from the stars above us. After crossing the highway, we walked in tall grassfor a few
minutes which

The And Pathophysiology Of Diabetes
Diabetes mellitus is becoming an increasingly prevalent chronic disease which affects not only the
sufferer, but also affects their family, society and numerous healthcare disciplines. According to the
International Diabetes Federation (2013), an astounding 382 million people worldwide are living
with diabetes. There are several different sub types of this disease which include: Type 1 (T1DM),
Type 2 (T2DM) and Gestational diabetes mellitus. Within Australia, an enormous 85.3% of the
population living with this disease are suffering from T2DM (Australian Bureau of Statistics,
2012). These statistics highlight the severity of T2DM as it is rapidly becoming the type of greater
concern, especially since this adult onset disease is becoming... Show more content on

(Mazze, Strock, Simonsen, Bergenstal, 2004, p. 81). Obesity is another condition which can result
in metabolic syndromes which also play a role in the development of T2DM along with other
diseases including coronary heart disease, all of which are major contributors to patient morbidity
and mortality (Craft Gordon, 2011, p. 1068).
Pathophysiology
As previously mentioned, T2DM is characterised by insulin deficiency and insulin resistance
within peripheral tissues such as muscle, liver, and adipose tissues (Mazze, Strock, Simonson,
Bergenstal, 2004, p. 79). It was also noted that other conditions, namely obesity, were recognised to
be positively correlated to the progression of T2DM.
Insulin deficiency refers to when a person fails to secrete adequate levels of insulin during
digestion of meals (Naseem et al., 2012). Producing adequate levels of insulin is essential for
being able to overcome the increase of glucose levels in the body while eating, this is achieved by
sending signals to the liver to reduce its production of endogenous glucose. However, after
prolonged exposure to this disease, this affects the ability of ОІ cells to respond to rises in glucose
levels. (Mazze, Strock, Simonson, Bergenstal, 2004, p. 80). Located in the pancreas, ОІ cells, or
Beta cells, are responsible for the production and storage of insulin (Resnick, 2014).
Insulin resistance, however, occurs when insulin receptors within cells of the body

Fourth Amendment Framework
Overview Reading five of the text, Privacy, and Law Enforcement, and National Security covers: 1)
The Intelligence Community, 2) The Fourth Amendment Framework (Keith vs. U.S.), and 3) The
Foreign Intelligence Gathering. We gain further understanding of intelligence agencies and their
functions, the Fourth Amendments application to domestic and overseas cases, and the Foreign
IntelligenceService Act.
The Intelligence Community The author poses a question: Should the law treat investigations
involving national security differently than other criminal inquiries? (Solove, 2015, p. 155). The
text cites both aspects of this question, saying the Fourth Amendment and ECPA apply differently

Senator Church s summary of the committee findings states: There has been, in short, a clear and
sustained failure by those responsible for controlling the intelligence community, and to ensure its
accountability. , (Fourth Amendment Framework, 2015, p. 164). This chapter discusses the Fourth
Amendment and the Foreign Intelligence Services. The reading says that Keith vs. United States
District Court did not cover this, as the case occurred domestically, leaving wide open what
government authorities can do with foreign cases. Two cases listed in the section speak of Fourth
Amendment and foreign surveillance. In U.S. vs. Butenko, (1974), the Court found that: foreign
intelligence gathering is clandestine and a highly structured activity , (National Security, 2015, p.
165). The court judgment in U.S. vs. Hung, (1980), similarly reasoned that the warrant needed in

Context In The Old Testament
Context is the influence of circumstances around a setting, event, or situation. In our understanding
of the Old Testament, context has played a tremendous role. Whether it is literary, geographical,
or social, each one strongly affected the writing of the Old Testament. Artifacts found from the
time of the Old Testament, such as old tools or early forms of writing, like the Mesha Inscription
and the Merneptah Stele, also provide context, helping our understanding of the way in which the
Israeli people lived. Many of the stone tools discovered show us that humans have lived in the
Palestinian region for millions of years; however, the tools found of the Israelites show us they
settled on the hills of Palestine instead of on the Coastal plain.

Princess Diana at the time of her death was arguably the world s most renowned celebrity.
Privately, Diana felt she was just an ordinary person; however, she was much more. She was
known to be an advocate for the helpless and the hopeless. Diana s influence was felt worldwide
through her vast humanitarian activities, which consisted of working with and starting many
charities. Diana used her royal title and her celebrity to raise awareness about many forgotten or
overlooked causes. As a result of her worldwide travels, Diana became the people s princess and
the public was intrigued with her devotion, consideration, and graciousness. Diana s wide and

John s audience might recognize the Royal Family and the paparazzi as the wind that blew
against Diana s candle and ultimately snuffed it out. John continues to use picture words in the
chorus to symbolize the struggles Diana faced. In line 12, when the rain set in allows the
audience to picture her hard times. Still, Diana was a resilient woman, and her grieving audience
would realize that she persevered over many obstacles in her life. She married at the age of 19,
and anyone s marriage is difficult by itself. Add to the fact that she was thrust onto the world
stage when she married into the Royal Family made it that much harder. John s lyrics suggest
that Diana remained positive and rarely let the dark times get her public persona down. Next,
John uses the image your candle s burned out long before (line 15, 31, 47),and the audience is
able to picture a candle snuffed out before it had completely burned. This shows that Diana died
early. However, John does not want to leave his audience with the idea that Diana lived a short
life and then died in vain. John s powerful repetition of your legend never will (line 16, 32, 48)
shows that Diana did not die in vain. John s lyrics fill his audience with hope by reminding them
that Diana s life will be remembered and that she did as much in death as she did in life. The

Kyoto Protocol Essay
Global climate change has been a concern for everyone since scientists first discovered that our
actions from polluting can have drastic effects on our environment. Many scientists began to note
the changes in the atmosphere and temperature, global warming, in the mid 1800 s. Many people
believe that the Earth s climate cycles and changes periodically over time. Many believe that the
changes occur as a result of human activity. The big questions is what effect is our activity having
on the environment.
The costs benefits of global climate change

The Kyoto Protocol has several provisions that allow for geographic flexibility. Reductions in costs
can also be done through international trade of emissions rights. This will also depend largely on
how many countries participate in this trade. The economic costs will also depend on the length of
time a country has to enact the changes needed to fit their requirements. The longer a country
procrastinates the more expensive it will be.
Recommend a policy for climate change
There are many ideas out there on how to reduce GHG through various policies, but, coming up
with an idea on short notice is not an easy task. The best thing to do is come up with some goals
that have worked over time and put those together as one idea.
The first though would be working as a whole. Done just make this a political objective, make it
a national objective. Get the people of our country involved. Ask them for ideas and what they can
do to help out. Find ways for smaller communities to get involved and set up models for cities to
help them with ideas to reduce emissions. Many cities like Tokyo, Japan have train systems that
reduce the number of cars used by the public.
The plans have to be more individualized by area because some may need more attention than
others. Some parts of the US might not need any adjustments while other places need more.
Southern California, for example has immense smog issues and is

Solution Essay On World Hunger
First of all, what exactly causes the global hunger crisis and what has been put in place to help fix
this problem? The problem itself is best understood by saying One of the greatest challenges this
world faces is how to ensure that a growing population... has enough foods to meet their needs.
(Business Insider) The report also states that in order to have enough foodfor the estimated 10
billion people in the year 2050, food production must increase by 50% globally. Also in the report
by Business Insider, statistics proved that in areas of greater conflict and fluctuation in climate the
problem of world hungeris harshest. Another reason for the world hunger epidemic is food
availability. Food availability has been affected through reduced import capacity while access of
food has deteriorated in part due to fiscal potential to protect poor households against rising
domestic food prices (BI). This makes sense because due to the climate changes like drought, an
entire season of crops could be ruined and leave thousands without food and with no other way to
get it. The drought has caused remaining crops to be sold at insanely high prices, high enough that
the poor population cannot get the food that they need. The negative effect that war has on food
production is that the men that are supposed to farm and grow the crops for many in their city and
country to eat either have to stop what they are doing and join the war or sell their food to the war
efforts. The latter takes

God One Cannot Suffer Without Merited Suffering Analysis
Religion has always played an instrumental role in the foundation of society, 17th century France
perfectly exemplifies this heavy reliance on religion when faced with the dilemma of animals
souls. European life, along with Descartes theory on animal souls, depend exclusively on the
presence of God, if animals souls were to be proven, the trust in Godwould be diminished along
with any justification given to humans for the treatment of animals, leaving the question of true
human purpose.
(I) Religion and the bible were looked to by many as a guide of right and wrong ways to live, the
existence of animal souls would have made the treatment of animals unjust.

Of what use then is the true idea of a good God? It is of value in that when he acts he acts always
for the good, and produces no good (Yvon 21). Yvon s theory of an unfair God, and counter
argument against Descartes automata, once again questioning the foundation many have built their

the bounds of living in that time would also be doubted.

Factors Affecting The Vital Capacity Of A Normal Woman
The approximate vital capacity for a normal woman can be calculated using the formula: VC = h
(21.78 0.101a), where h is centimetre and a is the age of years. Jeannie is 17 years old and she
is 170 cm tall, substituting the variables h=170 and a = 17, the answer is VC = 170 (21.78 0.101
(17)) = 3410.71. However, based on the information that was gathered during the interview living
with a smoker, medical history and frequency of exercise, etc., it was suggested that Jeannie s vital
capacity would be lower than normal, and Jeannie s breathing rate would be higher than average.
Rationale The hypothesis of the factors affecting the vital capacity and breathing rate is that one s
vital capacity and breathing rate are affected by his/her surrounding, including living situation and
lifestyle habits, etc. The suggested considerations are gender, age, height, his/her current health
condition, medical history, smoking habits, connections with second hand smokes, frequency of
exercise, and living environment. Gender may affect one s vital capacity because males have
some missing genetic information (XY) while females have the entire set of genetic information
(XX), perhaps the missing genetic information dictates one s vital capacity similar to why males
have a higher chances of being colour blind than females; or the extra genetic information females
having suppresses the growth of lungs sizes and body sizes which leads to a normal male has a
greater vital capacity than a

Wonder Woman is an iconic superhero with her lasso of truth she is able to make anyone tell the
truth. It sounds farfetched but for William Mouton Marston it wasn t. Marston was one of the main
developers who worked on the polygraph. After the polygraph was finished was ridiculed and went
on to create Wonder Woman (Dujack). The polygraph is what Marston based Wonder Woman s
lasso of truth on. In reality both the polygraph and the lasso of truth are fictitious dreams that might
one day rid the world of criminals and lies.
There are many instances in which the polygraph is proven to be at fault such as with Cleve
Backster. He was a polygraph examiner and believed strongly in the polygraph and its results.
Backster one day decided to attach a houseplant that was in his office to the machine. He then
would light the plants leaf on fire to see if the polygraph would have a spike in action. To his
surprise as he struck the match the polygraph jumped signifying a response (Eells). Instead of
considering that the polygraph went off randomly Backster instead assumed the plant had feelings
and could even read his mind. This discovery lead to many scientific research projects in which
scientists were unable to replicate Backster s results. Rather than dismiss the event and polygraph
as unreliable Backster dedicated the rest of his life to proving his discovery. The polygraph has

Pumpkins By Francine Prose
Francine Prose s short fictional piece, Pumpkins, was about a therapist who was having an
epiphany, with how this sudden incident that has happened in town, affects him so greatly. The
short piece also played with the significance of the pumpkin in an interesting way. One thing that
I noticed in my first read of Prose s short piece was that it has a very serious and heavy tone. For
example, just within the first two lines, There was a terrible accident. A truck full of Halloween
pumpkins is speeding... . As well as the beginning sentence of paragraph two. The second thing that
I had noticed in Prose s piece was that the story was being told through the therapist perspective.
Although it took me several reads to catch this, each time I read

Classification of Restaurant Customers Essay
Restaurant Customers At some point in your life you will earn the responsibilities of server. A
majority of you will spend your time serving customers in a restaurant setting, where you may be
more commonly known as a waiter or waitress. Your customers belong to a special group of
customers that can be broken down into five different types. These different types of customers
each require an appropriate kind of service. The better you are at delivering the appropriate
services the better server you will become and the more job satisfaction and tips you will receive.
This is why it is important for you to know how to recognize what type of customer you are

silverware is dirty and maybe it s just a water spot, or the air conditioner is set too low, and any

may notice that these persnickety customers tend to be older women. It is nearly impossible to
please these people so don t take it personally. And even though you re praying that they leave
soon, try just to smile, promptly get what they ask for and remember to always be polite. A
further type of restaurant customers is the celebrators. These customers will usually be dining
out for a special occasion. It could be a birthday, an anniversary, a victory or anything else they
want to celebrate. These people are always in a great mood and especially easy to please. You
should quickly find out what they are celebrating and act accordingly. Typically, restaurants will
give a dessert for birthdays and anniversaries. At some restaurants, waiters and waitresses sing to
the person with a birthday. This is a great way to increase your tip for this table. Be sure to make
these customers feel special in whatever way you can. They will surely appreciate it and reward
you appropriately. The final type of restaurant customer is the typical family. This is a group of

The Impact of Change Management on the Success of Project Management.
Stuart Riley

Change Management, if implemented well, has the ability to make transitions positive, possible
and profitable. It goes without saying that change is a part of life. From the moment we are born
until the moment we pass away, change is occurring in us and around us. That being the case, it
needs to be clearly stated that organizations, companies and institutions are much like individuals.

If we were dealing with inanimate objects with no feelings, thoughts, or consciousness, change
would certainly be more easily implemented. As I stated earlier, organizations are made up of
and rely on people. People often look to their leaders when change is to be implemented. Some
might suggest that Leadership is about change. In the 2008 Presidential Election, Barrack
Obama ran his campaign based on the slogan Change you can believe in . That being said, what
does a leader do when he or she runs into strong resistance to change and what does that
resistance look like? Resistance can manifest itself in several different ways. According Paul R.
Lawrence, Such resistance may take a number of forms persistent reduction in output, increase in
the number of quits and requests for transfer, chronic quarrels, sullen hostility, wildcat or
slowdown strikes, and, of course, the expression of a lot of pseudo logical reasons why the
change will not work . Lawrence made this observation in 1969 and remarkably, today s experts
agree that not much has changed with respect to the manner in which resistance manifests itself in
the modern workplace Kotter and Schlesinger (1979) mention that negative responses to change
from individuals and groups can vary from passive resistance to aggressive attempts to undermine
it. The experts agree that people are resistant to change and if the change managers don t win over

The Eugenics Movement
Episode 1 At the beginning of the 20th century, power and prestige was held by the majority of
(if not only) White people. African Americans were living under Jim Crow laws, Native
Americans were forced into reservations and all of the new immigrants were in crowded ghettos.
Those that were a race other than White were at the bottom of the social and political hierarchy.
One of the aims of the Eugenics Movement was racial purification. Using the concept of Mendelian
genes, scientists would try to breed the best, smartest, most talented, most beautiful and always
white individuals and breed out the worst and weakest colored individuals. Mixed racepeople were
seen as not put together because it was a combination of the best and worst traits someone could
have. Frederick Hoffman, presented data, statistics and a theory that claimed African Americans
would become extinct because of high death and disease rates that were caused by African
Americans being biologically lesser than Whites. However, his analysis was flawed because it
failed to mention how systematic poverty and social neglect could be affecting the health of
African Americans. Biological scientists believe our racial classification system is inherently
flawed because genetically we are the most similar of all species. The film says that if we
compare 2 identical penguins, there is twice the amount of genetic difference than you would see
compared to looking at the DNA of a black man and a white man. Even

Hamlet Revenge Vs Revenge Essay
No trait is more justified than revenge in the right time and place (Meir Kahane). In the play
Hamlet by William Shakespeare revenge is a prominent theme throughout. Revenge causes various
characters to act blindly through their anger and emotion, rather than through reason. The desires of
Hamlet, Laertes and Young Fortinbras each exhibit how the overall theme of Hamletrevolves around
revenge. Hamlet must get revenge on Claudius for killing his father. Laertes must avenge his father
and sister by demanding retribution on Hamlet. Young Fortinbras rescues his fathers long lost
nobility by gaining territory. Each character losing their fathers are determined all through the play
by this yearning and requirement for revenge.
The theme of revenge is prevalent very early in the play; the play starts off with Hamlet father
being killed by his Uncle Claudius. Hamlet unknowingly who killed his father is introduced with ...

Hamlet was overwhelmed with the thought of his own family murdering his father, and after using
the play to find out if the ghost was telling the truth or not, swore vengeance for his father s
death. Directly after the play Claudius goes off on his own to pray, while doing so he asks for
forgiveness. This is Hamlets perfect chance to get revenge on Claudius for killing his father.
Now might I do it pat. Now he is a praying. And now I ll do t. And so he goes to heaven. And so
am I revenged. That would be scanned. A villain kills my father, and, for that, I, his sole son, do
this same villain send. To heaven. (3.3.77 83). But he though he should not kill him at this point
because he didn t know if he was asking for forgiveness. Hamlet wants to wait for a time where
Claudius is committing a sin, where then he will kill him knowing he will not go to heaven.
Unfortunately for Hamlet, the sin Claudius is planning of performing next is not alone but with

Comparison Of Baz Luhrmann s Romeo And Juliet
In the Baz Luhrmann version of Romeo and Juliet he modernised many scenes such as the
balcony scene (pool scene), fight scenes and tomb scene. The scenes aren t the only thing that is
modernised the costumes and props are also modernised. The pool scene which is known as the
balcony scene in the play has been modernised by adding an elevator in which Juliet came down
and meet Romeo. this is done so the audiences can relate to the scene. During the movie there are
about 4 5 fight scenes in which all have guns, but in the play it would be fought with swords. The
petrol station fight scenes are modernised by setting it at a petrol station, but in the play it is in the
town square At then end of the movie Romeo goes to see Juliet where she is

Mariott Corporation Case Study
Marriott s corporation: the cost of capital What is the weighted average cost of capital for
Marriott Corporation? Are the four components of Marriott s financial strategy consistent with
its growth objective? Marriott Corporation is an international company who s the growth over
the year has been more than satisfactory. In 1987, Marriott s sales grew up by 24% and its return
on equity stood at 22%. Moreover the sales and earnings pr share has doubled over the previous
year. The company operates in three divisions: lodging, contract services and restaurants which
represents 41%, 46% and 13% of sales in 1987 respectively. Marriott is determined to develop and
to enhance its position in each division. This main goal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To determine the opportunity cost of capital, Marriott required three inputs: debt capacity, debt
cost, and equity cost consistent with the amount of debt. The cost of capital depends on each
division. In fact the evaluation of the WACC is an appropriate tool to calculate the cost of
capital for the corporation as a whole and for each division. The cost of equity One of the two
major component of WACC is the cost of equity. The cost of equity model takes into account
three values which we must calculate a risk free rate (rf), risk premium rate (expected market
return rf), and Beta Value. Before doing the calculations, we will justify our choices. We based it
on the Stocks, Bonds, Bills and Inflation (SBBI). This workmanship is a standard reference
source for business appraisers. It has been published annually since 1983. The beta value As it is
said in the case, we already know the equity beta (0,97). But the capital structure (leverage)
affects beta estimates. In order to eliminate the effect of leverage, we will calculate the asset beta,
which reflects the sensitivity of the firm s assets abstracting from capital structure. That is why
we have to convert the equity beta into the asset beta. Then we can calculate the equity beta
without the leverage effect. To calculate the asset beta, we need the current debt value. The ratio
D/V for the company is set at 41% so we can find the ratio E/V is set at 59%. It comes from the

The Current Epidemic Facing Society Essay
#Sorry Not Sorry The Current Epidemic Facing Society: Not Stop Negativity Let us flashback to
1994 for a moment. The Internet was new and only in some homes and workplaces. Cellphones
were the size of handbags and could only make calls sometimes. Most people only had one
phone line in their homes. People went to the library to research and learn, or they consulted an
expert. Most tuned into the radio or local television stations once or twice a day to hear the
news, or they read about it in the newspaper or magazines while they drank their morning coffee.
Now, flash forward to today. We have everything we had twenty years ago and more, but it is all
faster, easier to access, global, and is in most of our hands within one device. Is this better or
worse? Well, let me ask you this, How do you feel, and what was the last thing you read or saw on
your phone, tablet, or computer? It was not something positive was it? Our current advances in
technology have resulted with a boom of popularity of social media and access to the Internetfor
daily communication and is resulting in a larger dose, and harder to avoid, spread of
intercontinental negativity, and, it is becoming the social norm. Unfortunately, we like it.
#sorrynotsorry If you don t have anything nice to say; then it s best to not say anything at all. We
have all heard this before from our parents or teachers, however do we still practice it today?
Maybe face to face we do, but one huge effect of

This film was produced by Ridley Scott, who explores how replicants associate in human society. The creators of the desirable replicants display a company slogan that reads More humanthan human . The concept and definition of this will be thoroughly analysed throughout this essay and its relation to the characters will be stated. The definition of humanity and the true meaning of being human will be furthered explored in relation to the film. The classification of being human is complicated as replicants and humans display many similarities. The ethical aspects of the film contradict the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the film develops it is obvious they both struggle to understand their emerging emotions. When the character of Deckard is evaluated it is obvious he struggles to come to terms with the coldness of retiring the Replicants. This puts him in a predicament as he faces a psychological battle. Although he is completing the task for the wellbeing of the remaining citizens he turns to drinking as a form of comfort, displaying signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). In comparison, over the journey of the story Roy, the alleged antagonist, developed emotions. This caused the difference between humans and robots to decrease. His work impacted ethics in a very big way. The fact that his writing is among the most difficult to understand Kant believed the reason for this was the source of morality, and his Critique of Pure Reason. Kant s theory, better known as deontological theory holds truth in believing that doing the right thing and good will are motivating factors in the ethical decision making process. His theory is an example of deontological theory but with several weaknesses as well as strengths. I believe that lying is wrong just like Kant but I don t agree that lying for the right reasons makes you a bad person. Kant s theory is an example of a deontological moral theory. According to these theories, the rightness or wrongness of actions does not depend on their consequences but on whether they fulfill our duty. Kant believed that there was a supreme principle of morality, and he referred to it as The Categorical Imperative(CSUS, 2012). A great example of Categorical Imperative would be Don t lie even though you might be lying to benefit the other person it doesn t matter you shouldn t lie because it s the wrong thing to do. If one knows that they are not happy with their actions, they can dilute that feeling of cognitive dissonance by decreasing the negative or enhancing the positive attitudes about it (Smith Mackie, n.d.). One might be a smoker for instance, and know that smoking is bad for them, but continue smoking anyway. A perception of a clash of unsuitable elements is a way to describe the way one feels when their actions and beliefs are at odds (McLeod, 2014). He recognized that not putting his new found knowledge to use would result in nothing more than wasted time and research. So, Bandura began a crusade. However, his cause would not be the only favorable affect Social Learning Theory would inspire. After conducting the filmed Bobo doll experiment, Bandura noticed how children reacted to violenceon a screen. As such, he made the connection between increased rough behavior in children after watching violent televisionshows or playing gory video games. So, he showed his research to the Federal Communications Commission and television broadcasters. This information moved them to put some restrictions on how much violence could be aired on television. However, that was back in the 1990 s and today s society has slacked. Now, it is a common sight to watch children kick, punch, karate chop, clobber, and attack each other while playing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is because God made people to learn socially and by modeling other s behaviors that Christians desire to act as Christ like as possible. Another vital implication of Social Learning Theory is the need for believers to go to church. On their own, a Christian becomes bogged down and burnt out in the world. Victor Hugo himself is a very interesting gentleman that lived in a very complicated time period with lots of political issues, which I believe come out in this movie. Jean Valjean, is who Hugo chose as the hero of Les Miserables ultimately. However, in the beginning it starts out by portraying him as a bad guy and someone who focuses on his hate. His hate is directed at Inspector Javert, the officer who sentences him to his prison term, which was hard labor. Jean Valjean s hatred for him, the inspector, and his vengeance tends to only fester throughout the movie. Once paroled, Jean Valjean discovers the bishop of Digne along his path. The bishop takes him in and gives him a place to stay along food. Jean Valjean decides to steal the bishops silverware. When the bishop discovers that Jean Valjean has stolen his silver he shows him mercy and tells him kindly, Jean Valjean, my brother, you no longer belong to what is evil, but to what is good. I have bought your soul to save it from black thoughts and the spirit of perdition, and I give it to God . The And Pathophysiology Of Diabetes Diabetes mellitus is becoming an increasingly prevalent chronic disease which affects not only the sufferer, but also affects their family, society and numerous healthcare disciplines. According to the International Diabetes Federation (2013), an astounding 382 million people worldwide are living with diabetes. There are several different sub types of this disease which include: Type 1 (T1DM), Type 2 (T2DM) and Gestational diabetes mellitus. Within Australia, an enormous 85.3% of the population living with this disease are suffering from T2DM (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2012). Obesity is another condition which can result in metabolic syndromes which also play a role in the development of T2DM along with other diseases including coronary heart disease, all of which are major contributors to patient morbidity and mortality (Craft Gordon, 2011, p. 1068). Pathophysiology As previously mentioned, T2DM is characterised by insulin deficiency and insulin resistance within peripheral tissues such as muscle, liver, and adipose tissues (Mazze, Strock, Simonson, Bergenstal, 2004, p. 79). It was also noted that other conditions, namely obesity, were recognised to be positively correlated to the progression of T2DM. Insulin deficiency refers to when a person fails to secrete adequate levels of insulin during digestion of meals (Naseem et al., 2012). Producing adequate levels of insulin is essential for being able to overcome the increase of glucose levels in the body while eating, this is achieved by sending signals to the liver to reduce its production of endogenous glucose. However, after prolonged exposure to this disease, this affects the ability of ОІ cells to respond to rises in glucose levels. (Mazze, Strock, Simonson, Bergenstal, 2004, p. 80). Located in the pancreas, ОІ cells, or Beta cells, are responsible for the production and storage of insulin (Resnick, 2014). Whether it is literary, geographical, or social, each one strongly affected the writing of the Old Testament. Artifacts found from the time of the Old Testament, such as old tools or early forms of writing, like the Mesha Inscription and the Merneptah Stele, also provide context, helping our understanding of the way in which the Israeli people lived. Many of the stone tools discovered show us that humans have lived in the Palestinian region for millions of years; however, the tools found of the Israelites show us they settled on the hills of Palestine instead of on the Coastal plain. ... • 29. Solution Essay On World Hunger First of all, what exactly causes the global hunger crisis and what has been put in place to help fix this problem? The problem itself is best understood by saying One of the greatest challenges this world faces is how to ensure that a growing population... has enough foods to meet their needs. (Business Insider) The report also states that in order to have enough foodfor the estimated 10 billion people in the year 2050, food production must increase by 50% globally. Also in the report by Business Insider, statistics proved that in areas of greater conflict and fluctuation in climate the problem of world hungeris harshest. Another reason for the world hunger epidemic is food availability. Food availability has been affected through reduced import capacity while access of food has deteriorated in part due to fiscal potential to protect poor households against rising domestic food prices (BI). This makes sense because due to the climate changes like drought, an entire season of crops could be ruined and leave thousands without food and with no other way to get it. The drought has caused remaining crops to be sold at insanely high prices, high enough that the poor population cannot get the food that they need. The negative effect that war has on food production is that the men that are supposed to farm and grow the crops for many in their city and country to eat either have to stop what they are doing and join the war or sell their food to the war efforts. Factors Affecting The Vital Capacity Of A Normal Woman The approximate vital capacity for a normal woman can be calculated using the formula: VC = h (21.78 0.101a), where h is centimetre and a is the age of years. Jeannie is 17 years old and she is 170 cm tall, substituting the variables h=170 and a = 17, the answer is VC = 170 (21.78 0.101 (17)) = 3410.71. However, based on the information that was gathered during the interview living with a smoker, medical history and frequency of exercise, etc., it was suggested that Jeannie s vital capacity would be lower than normal, and Jeannie s breathing rate would be higher than average. Rationale The hypothesis of the factors affecting the vital capacity and breathing rate is that one s vital capacity and breathing rate are affected by his/her surrounding, including living situation and lifestyle habits, etc. The suggested considerations are gender, age, height, his/her current health condition, medical history, smoking habits, connections with second hand smokes, frequency of exercise, and living environment. Gender may affect one s vital capacity because males have some missing genetic information (XY) while females have the entire set of genetic information (XX), perhaps the missing genetic information dictates one s vital capacity similar to why males have a higher chances of being colour blind than females; or the extra genetic information females having suppresses the growth of lungs sizes and body sizes which leads to a normal male has a greater vital capacity than a ... African Americans were living under Jim Crow laws, Native Americans were forced into reservations and all of the new immigrants were in crowded ghettos. Those that were a race other than White were at the bottom of the social and political hierarchy. One of the aims of the Eugenics Movement was racial purification. Using the concept of Mendelian genes, scientists would try to breed the best, smartest, most talented, most beautiful and always white individuals and breed out the worst and weakest colored individuals. Mixed racepeople were seen as not put together because it was a combination of the best and worst traits someone could have. The cost of capital depends on each division. In fact the evaluation of the WACC is an appropriate tool to calculate the cost of capital for the corporation as a whole and for each division. The cost of equity One of the two major component of WACC is the cost of equity. The cost of equity model takes into account three values which we must calculate a risk free rate (rf), risk premium rate (expected market return rf), and Beta Value. Before doing the calculations, we will justify our choices. We based it on the Stocks, Bonds, Bills and Inflation (SBBI). This workmanship is a standard reference source for business appraisers. It has been published annually since 1983. The beta value As it is said in the case, we already know the equity beta (0,97). But the capital structure (leverage) affects beta estimates. In order to eliminate the effect of leverage, we will calculate the asset beta, which reflects the sensitivity of the firm s assets abstracting from capital structure.
