With being held as the bloodiest battle of the civil war. The Battle of Gettysburg took place

Greene s Jewelry Case Study Example
Memo Introduction
Greene s Jewelry, the plaintiff in the case of Greene s Jewelry v. Jennifer Lawson (2016), is
owned by Mary Jane and Allen Green and located in Derry, New Hampshire. The company was
originally started in 1957 and has expanded over the last five decades. Greene s Jewelry
currently employs over 500 individuals including Jennifer Lawson who has been employed with
the company for the past three years. Greene s Jewelry is best known for its process for creating
a synthetic gold colored material called Ever Gold. Ever Gold is resistant to scratches,
discoloration, and oxidization. The defendant in this case who was rightfully terminated, Jennifer
Lawson, had been employed as a junior executive secretary in the research and development
department of Greene s Jewelry. The defendant was let go from the company during her pregnancy
because of the company s decision to downsize which eliminated the defendant s role. Prior to the
defendant s departure, it is believed the defendant stole documents pertaining to the process of
creating the company s Ever Gold product and released the information to one of the company s
competitors, Howell Jewelry World. Although the defendant signed a confidentialityagreement, the
defendant has claimed that she was wrongfully terminated due to her pregnancy.
In addition, please keep in mind the decision to eliminate the previous position held by the
defendant, in this case, was decided prior to the defendant notifying the company s

An Analysis Of Theodora And Attendants And Akhenaton,...
The theme of the two art works, Theodora and Attendants, and Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three
Daughters, is Political Authority. This is a theme presented countless times throughout art history,
and is a theme that is still used in art today. It reflects the concerns and desires of the rulers of the
time and is used as a form of propaganda by said rulers to change the minds of the people they are
ruling. Art has power and the rulers use its power to control their people. The presentation of these
pieces reveals that the rulers want their subjects to view them as powerful and divine. Both of these
cultures are also heavily influenced by religion. Both Theodora and attendants and Akhenaton,
Nefertiti, and Three Daughters are forms of political propaganda that use religion to try and
influence their subjects. Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three Daughters, is from the Amarnaperiod in
18th dynasty ancient Egypt, which was around c. 1353 1335 BCE. This was a time where art in
ancient Egypt was vastly different from anything that had come before it, mostly due to Akhenaton
himself. The religion of the time was also very different, as it had become a monotheistic religion
instead of a polytheistic one, where everyone now worships the life giving god Aton, represented
here by the sun who is soaking them in life giving rays and the ankh placed on the sun representing
Aton. Pictured in this work is the PharaohAkhenaton and his family, yet it is not the stiff ceremonial

How Parasitology Is A Very Important Area Of The...
Parasitology is a very important area of the microbiology clinical laboratory of NYU Langone
Medical Center. Medical technologists perform many different types of assays and observe
countless samples under the microscope in order to detect the presence of any parasites causing
infections. Parasitology is the study of parasitic organisms that cause disease within humans.
Parasites are defined as organisms that live in or on another organism and uses its resources. The
major groups of parasitic organisms studied and observed in the clinical laboratory are helminths,
protozoa, and arthropods. Helminths are worm parasites and this group contains the parasitic
subgroups nematodes, cestodes and trematodes. Nematodes are roundworms, cestodes are
tapeworms, and trematodes are flukes. There are thousands of different species of helminths.
Protozoa contains organelles within their cell. There are more than 50,000 species and are very
common throughout the world. Arthropods are organisms with a chitin cytoskeleton, such as
fleas, ticks, spiders, and insects. Although parasitic infections are most often associated with
tropical areas they can also occur in subtropical and more temperate areas, even places such as
New York City. Billions of people all over the world have fallen prey to parasitic infections. People
who live, work, visit, or immigrate from more remote and underdeveloped parts of the world are at
a higher risk of acquiring parasitic infections. The level of symptoms

Comparing Jack London s To Build A Fire And The Open Boat
Nature is an outlet to rejuvenate, a home to millions of organisms, and a supplier of provisioning
resources. However, the greatest provider for mankind is also the most destructive force on planet
Earth with the ability to obliterate millions of lives. With technology rapidly increasing, allowing
humans to accurately foresee weather patterns and construct buildings that are resistant to natural
disaster, several people believe that they have conquered the natural world. Nonetheless, the reality
is that naturealways triumphs over humans as can be seen through Jack London s short story titled
To Build a Fire and The Open Boat by Stephen Crane. The man who travels through the brisk
Yukon trail in To Build a Fire and the crew members that are

As a matter of fact, in To Build a Fire and The Open Boat, nature overrides the characters efforts
to preserve their lives in the freezing arctic and the sea. In To Build a Fire, the protagonist takes
great measures to preserve his life from hypothermia in the 75 degrees below weather, but each
time, nature works against his will. For instance, as he finally succeeds in building a fire to heat
his body, an unexpected pile of snow falls off from the tree above him, dousing the flame: The
snow fell without warning upon the man and the fire, and the fire was dead (London 10). Nature
combats against the man s effort to warm his body, by eliminating an essential source for his
survival, heat. Similarly, in the other story, the power of nature overrules a decision that the
captain makes to elude the waves [that] continued pushing and turning and washing the boat
(Crane 4). To specify, the captain orders the oiler and the correspondent to head towards the
shore to avoid the waves. However, as the dinghy approaches closer to land, the waves get
stronger forcing them to turn back to the open sea. The captain says, We ll never be able to reach
the lighthouse now. Swing her back north, Billie. We ll overturn (Crane 5). The failure to escape
the tempestuous sea and the lack of success in building a fire in the other story elucidates

Compare And Contrast Fort Myers And Porters
Fort Myers Vs Porter Fort Myers and Porter are two amazing cities. Fort Myers located in the
Sunshine State and Porter in the Lone Star State. Porter is more of a suburban area whereas Fort
Myers is more developed as a city. Both these cities have very noticeable differences. One is more
active and alive, and the other is calm. Although these cities are opposites, they have similar
qualities that we can compare to see which city is better. Notably Floridais known for having many
glamorous theme parks, but Texasalso has these attractions. Although not as big as Floridas, Texas
has a few theme parks close to Porter. Two Six Flags theme parks are located in Dallas and San
Antonio Texas. Just three hours North and West of Porter. However within

Within the city there is a lot to do. During the weekend many locals go out on their boats onto the
caloosahatchee river or go fishing. During the winter the Red Sox practice in Fort Myers. Here
they have their summer training camp at the Jet Blue Stadium. Famous people have lived here
in Fort Myers like Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. Tourist still visit their houses along the
Caloosahatchee river. Florida has many stunning beaches, and Fort Myers is not an exception.
There are many beaches one could visit in the Fort Myers area. Whereas in Porter the closest
beach is about an hour away. Locals in Porter have to travel out of the city in order to do
anything. Luckily Houston is very close by. Here many events are held like professional soccer
games in the BBVA compass stadium. In downtown the Houston Texans, a football team, play in
the NRG stadium. As can be seen, Fort Myers and Porter are two amazing cities. It is difficult to
decide which city is better. Both cities are very different from one another. Yet they have
similarities that can be used to compare each other. Some people might prefer a city that is
calmer like Porter, but others might like to go to the beach in the middle of winter. This is what
makes it difficult to decide what city is better. Both cities are great to live in and are growing

reading them. Author, E.E. Cummings, was a painter and a poet who lived in Cambridge,
Massachusetts in 1849. He had a very unconventional writing style and took inspiration from his art.
This essay will be discussing how E.E Cummings used visual techniques, sound effects, and details
to make his writingmeaningful.
Probably because of his painting background, E.E Cummings used several visual techniques in
his work. For instance, he shaped the words on the page to represent the object in the poem. A
perfect example of this is in E.E Cummings poem l(a . (Doc A) In it, he talked about the first

Roman Patrician Research Paper
Ancient Rome was split into two classes: the aristocrats, known as the patricians, and the lower
class, known as the plebeians. They lived harmoniously alongside each other for a while, but after
Rome began to rise from it s ashes the plebeians became resentful and decided to take action. To
fully understand the degree of their anger some light needs to be shined on their situation, and how
the patricians treated them.
While Rome was rebuilding itself after the fall of the Roman Kingdom, it was a Republic.

the country. In this case they were all patricians. There is an obvious downside to this, all decisions

He explains eight developmental stages in which physical, cognitive, instinctual, and sexual
changes combine to trigger an internal crisis whose resolution results in either psychosocial
regression or growth and the development of specific virtues (Erikson, 2012). Since studies
show that the develop of schizophrenia around the ages of 16 through 30 and John was in
graduate school at the time of development it is safe to say that he was in his 20 s. In Erikson
eight stages of development John is in stage six of the eight stages of development which is
intimacy versus isolation. Erikson stated that a person who, as a result of sever disturbances in
the earliest dyadic relationships, fails to develop a basic sense of trust or the virtue of hope may
be predisposed as an adult to the profound withdrawal and regression characteristic of
schizophrenia (Erikson, 2012). Due to earlier difficulties in development intimacy versus isolation
may be impacted by schizophrenia in adulthood. Since this stage is contributed to love it is
obvious that John is having problems in this stage (Reitan, 2013). Due to the development of
schizophrenia at an early stage in the lifespan development it is easy to say the people with
schizophrenia will need support during the later stages of development to ensure that they will be
able to continue with developmental skills and wellness (Reitan,

How Did The Collapse Of The Soviet Union
The collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, also known as the USSR, brought with it a number of
downfalls. This was especially true with regard to businesses that had originated or had ties to the
country, which had been divided into 15 separate republics then. One of the organizations that
suffered dearly with the fall of the Soviet Unionwas the startup aviation company known as Baltia
Air Lines.
With communism gone, and a rush to put democracy in place, Russia s economy and the everyday
life of its inhabitants were falling apart. In a time where many countries were experiencing growth,
Russia s GDP began to suffer. For Baltia Air Lines, this was a huge setback.
In 1991, the United States Department of Transportation selected three new airlines to conduct
flights from the United States to Russia, with Baltia Air lines joining the ranks of Pan American
World Airways, American Airlines, and Trans World Airlines. Of the three newly appointed
airlines, Baltia had a far superior proposal than that of Trans World Airways, as claimed by the
U.S. Department of Transportation. Unfortunately, a number of setbacks led Baltia Air Lines to
place its aviation plans on hold for the time being. Nonetheless, this did not stop Baltia from
pursuing its mission to offer travelers with a non stop flight from the United States to Russia. ...

Should There Be Banned Book The Catcher In The Rye
Censors have been trying to ban books for hundreds of years. They ban books with content that
contains different and/or unpopular viewpoints. Censors not only ban books that are considered
inappropriate but they have also tried to ban books and plays that are known as classics in today
s society. Famous authors such as William Shakespeare have had their work attacked and
criticized by censors. Censors have even banned books like the dictionary and the Bible. Books
have been banned for various reasons. The entire context may have been inappropriate, or the
cover of the book could have had offensive material. There have even been cases where books
have been banned for one word out of place. When The Catcher in the Rye was published in
1951, it was put on the banned book list after a short period of time since many people felt that the
book was extremely inappropriate due to its crude language, violence and sexual content. The main
character Holden Caulfield and his actions in this book continue to be surrounded with a large
amount of controversy to this day. Censors and the public are not able to come to a consensus as to
whether high school students are mature enough to read this book and whether books that are
available to the public should undermine morals, contain violence and offensive language and

The Importance Of A Foreign Country Has Changed My Life
Studying in a foreign country has been something I have desired to do since high school. My
family s financial situation has kept our adventures centralized to Ohio. I have never been
presented with an opportunity to travel outside of the United States. I knew going abroad in
college was my best chance to finally experience a new country and a new culture within my
financial needs. Yet, I didn t just want to go to abroad for a few weeks, I wanted to study abroadfor
an entire semester. I wanted to immerse myself in an unfamiliar culture. To let go of what I know
here and observe from their perspective. Through my program I hope to appreciate the diversity
another country has to offer. In spring 2017, I plan to travel to Thailandand participate in study
abroad program through CISabroad. The program runs for an entire semester. I will be taking
classes at Mahidol University with Thai and other international students.
It was more that this program picked me then I picked this program. My field of study at Ohio
University is Wildlife and Conservation Biology. As I looked through programs it was extremely
difficult to find a program with classes that would work for my major. This was the only
program that offered a variety of courses specifically related to wildlife and ecology. It also
worked out well financially since the program s cost was lower than average. Though this course
might have been my only viable option I am glad it was. The more I learn about Thailand the

Facilitated Diffusion Research Paper
Facilitated diffusion is a process of passive transport across a biological membrane. Passive
transport is the diffusion of substances across a membrane. This is a spontaneous process and
cellular energy is not expended. Molecules will move from where the substance is more
concentrated to where it is less concentrated.
The cell membrane of eukaryotic cells is composed of a phospholipid bilayer. These
phospholipids are composed of a polar head, made up of a phosphate group, and two non polar
fatty acid tails. This amphipathic nature of phospholipids creates a semi permeable membrane, fluid
enough to allow for the growth and movement of the cell but solid enough to hold the shape of the
cell. The phospholipids of the membrane are arranged tail to tail which create a protective,
hydrophobic region in between the bilayer. This hydrophobic area prevents many types of
molecules from entering the cell including large, polar or charged molecules. This is an important
feature for the regulation of substances and concentrations inside and outside the cell. However, it
can become a problem because most vital molecules are unable to pass through the membrane
through simple diffusion. For example, water is essential for a cells survival. Water is also a polar
molecule. The cell allows water to pass in and out by using the process facilitated diffusion. ... Show

There are two types of bulk transport: exocytosis and endocytosis. These both require ATP.
In exocytosis, materials are exported out of the cell through secretory vesicles. In this process, the
Golgi complex packages macromolecules into transport vesicles that travel to and fuse with the
plasma membrane. This fusion causes the vesicle to spill its contents out of the cell. This is
important in expulsion of waste materials out of the cell and in secretion of cellular products such
as hormones or digestive

Colonel Edwin Hillandale, An Air Force Officer
Another character providing a keen understanding of the SOF Imperatives was Colonel
Hillandale. Colonel Edwin Hillandale was an Air Force officer assigned as a liaison in the
Philippines. In the course of his duties, he began working with Ramon Magsaysay. Magsaysay
was having difficulty with his campaign efforts in a communist held province. This led
Hillandale to assist Magsaysay in his efforts. Hillandale refutes the communist messaging of
Americans being rich elitists who care who do not care about Filipinos. He accomplishes this by
eating the local food, being fluent in their language and by displaying a great knowledge of their
culture. He also uses his musical talents to attract a larger audience to hear his message. He told
the local Filipinos he could not afford a meal because the bulk of his paycheck went to
supporting his family, much like the Filipinos themselves. He played to the cultural obligations
of the Filipino people saying he had never met a Filipino who would not feed a hungry man. This
comment prompted all of the villagers to volunteer to feed him. He continued his engagements
for a few weeks. After the Filipinos met and identified with Hillandale, they no longer believed
the anti American propaganda spread by the Russians. Thanks to Hillandale s efforts, Magsaysay
enjoyed a landslide victory in the province. Hillandale use of the SOF imperatives made it easy

An argument against this point is that an increase in the supply of labour will lead to a decrease
in labour shortages in certain jobs. Especially in jobs that local people don t find attractive for
example low pay jobs like cleaners. Not only will people take low pay jobs but also skilled
workers who have good qualifications will benefit the UK economy and its services for example
highly skilled jobs such as doctors. My final judgement is that the initial argument is a weak one
because the migrant workers will benefit the UK economy by taking jobs that have a shortage
of labour that maybe would not get done otherwise. An advantage to the UK of free movement
of labour within the EU is that migrant workers who come to UK could contribute to the
positive multiplier effect. This is when an initial increase in aggregate demand can have a
greater impact on GDP. The workers will be spending in the UK, boosting aggregate demand and
GDP. The rise in GDP will create more jobs as firms look to expand. An argument against this
point is that shortages may appear when migrants return home because overall they want to help
their families in their own country. Spending may be decreased because of this which will
decrease aggregate demand and GDP. Also, this could lead to a difficulty in long term stability
because if they can leave as easily as they can arrive then there will be a shortage of

oblique, internal oblique, transverse abdominus, and rectus abdominus; also referred to as the
abdominal wall muscles. The external oblique is the largest and strongest abdominal muscle in the
body. Next the internal oblique although it s not visible to the eye, in order to view it the external
oblique and rectus abdominus must be removed. Following we have the transverse abdominus
which is the deepest of the abdominal muscles. Lastly and most popular the rectus... Show more

There are three unique muscles which serve a dual process, the internal intercostals, lateral
iliocostalis thoracic, and latissimus dorsi. They all keep their same origin and insertion points
but differ by functions. They elevate the ribs and rib cage during inhalation and also depress the
ribs and rib cage during exhalation. Another muscle is the lateral iliocostalis lumborum also
works with the lateral iliocostalis thoracis to stabilize the back ribcage. Next the serratus
posterior inferior is v shaped and is found further down the spinous process, and helps with
muscle rotation. Another word for serratus is jagged. The next muscle is the transverse thoracic it
look like legs of a spider but separates the thoracic cage. Second to last are the subcostals and these
muscles resemble the internal intercostals but may skip one or more ribs. Finally the quadratus
lumborum can be seen only when the abdominal contents have been removed. Although some of
these muscles are different in origin and insertion points there functions play a major role during
exhalation in which they pull down on the rib cage in order to reduce air

Occupations and Industries in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and...
I am researching the industries, and occupations performed during 1930 in New Orleans,
Louisiana and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Census data is used from district one of both areas and
further research details how diverse each district is pertaining to origin of birth of individuals
collected in the census data. Comparing the two regions will marginally depict which industries
and occupations arose prominent and clarify their popularity. My father s origin is from Pittsburgh
and my mom s origin is from New Orleans. Conducting this research will provide possible insight

Food services, industrial, personal business, retail and specific shops, state services, auto, river, and
miscellaneous were the main industries. Industrial and personal business surprisingly showed
prominence over the other eight industries New Orleans citizens operated in. Industrial
employment embodied 27.5 percent of the working population, and personal business represented
24.2 percent. Notably, the marine industry was one of the lowest industries in district one
exhibiting only 5.7 percent of the population.
An equivalent simplification process was used for the seventy distinct types of industries listed by
Pittsburgh s fifteenth census. Entertainment, water services, retail and general stores, food services,
industrial work, transportation, general and state services, and self business signified the eight main
industries. Differentiating from the theories specified, water services commanded the data pool by
comprising 27.1 percent of the census population s employment. Unexpectedly, industrial work only
comprised 17.5 percent of the population making it the third largest behind general and state
services, which housed around 21.7 percent.
While researching secondary sources on the southern area of Louisiana, I found during 1930, the
state was beginning to focus on region and structural improvement work because of desired
stimulation into the decreasing economic stability of the state. Marie

The Pale Blue Dot
As we often disregard or remain ignorant to our inadvertent or purposeful killing of our planet,
Carl Sagan gives us a lesson in humility and a reminder of our folly and obscurity as humans. The
Pale Blue Dot is where our species has lived forever, where we fritter our time away on things that
in retrospect were quite inane or detrimental, but made perfect sense at the time. War and
overheating of our planet we do a lot of unscrupulous things it seems, although in the end, in the
grand scheme of the universe it s all pointless. To those on Eartheverything happening on our
planet is relative. We are conceited, thinking we are at the center of the universe, as if everything

Images of the way we embellished our planet with innovation, love and courage were juxtaposed
with images of the blood, scars, and destruction we also paint our planet with. This video made me
wonder how humans will proceed in the future with the issue of climate change. Will we come to
our senses and mitigate the damage caused by our wrongdoings to our only home? Or will we
continue to display the human race as a contradictory race, one that is conceited and yet will be
its own downfall? I believe Sagan made this video to encourage us to look at all the things
humans have done in the past and remind us that we may be the generation that continues or
exterminates our existence and renders all efforts and history void. He probably wanted to remind
us of our small, unimportant world and how it s our duty to protect and sustain life on it since it is
the only life we know. We are encouraged to humble ourselves because we are not the center of the
universe, and there s no one out there to pity or remember the parasitic human race. At the moment

Essay on Military Draft
Military Draft
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, the United States military now maintains a force of
around 1.4 million active duty personnel. In times of relative peace, this is sufficient to protect U.S.
interests at home and abroad. But when the United States engages in a larger scale operation, the
military may need to call up reserve forces. In a major conflict, the United States may even institute
the draft, drawing soldiers from the general civilian population.
The idea of a military draft, also called conscription, has been around in one form or another since
ancient times. In its relatively short history, the United States has implemented a number of
different conscription systems to fill its military ranks in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A few select groups of men are also excused automatically. These groups include: men who are
actively serving in the military, men who are attending a military service academy or select

student, visitor or diplomatic visas, certain foreign agricultural workers, men who are confined to a
hospital or psychiatric institution, handicapped men who cannot function in public, and inmates.
All other men between 18 and 25 are legally required to register with the SSS within 30 days of
reaching eligibility. Men can register via mail, over the Internet, at the post office or with a high
school Selective Service Registrar. The SSS keeps the names and addresses of all registered
men on file so they can be called up easily if the draft is reinstated. Most U.S. citizens become
eligible on their 18th birthday; others become eligible the day they are no longer exempt (the day
they drop out of a military academy, for example). Eligible aliens are required to register within 30
days of entering the country.
The government may prosecute a potential draftee who does not register with the SSS. If
convicted, the man would face up to five years in jail and a fine of up to $250,000. Today, the
government is unlikely to take such extreme action. Instead, it encourages registration by
withholding government benefits from potential draftees in violation. This includes federal

Conclusion: Cheever s use of literary devices drives the plot of the ideal mid century lifestyle.
Literary Analysis of The Swimmer The Swimmer by John Cheever was published in 1964. The
short story show the reader the emptiness many experienced during the mid century white flight.
The Swimmer gives a view into the life of Ned Merrill, an affluent suburban man s life. Cheever
uses symbolism, imagery, and tone to convey the theme of narcissism and suburban emptiness
during the 1960 s. In The Swimmer, Cheever uses symbolism as a tool to portray the theme of
the short story. One symbol the author uses throughout the story is pools. The description of
each pool shows the reader how Ned Merrill changes as a character. At the beginning of the story,
the pools represent Merrill s youthfulness and energy. The first pools Ned encounters represent his
life at a high point. These pools are described as a type of paradise (The Swimmer Symbols).

.2.2.6 Heartbeat Sensor
The Heartbeat sensor works on the principle of photoplethysmography which is a method of not
invading the body for measuring heartbeat. It provides a simple way to obtain the function of the
heart. The heartbeats can be measured based on the principle of psycho physiological signal
which is used as a stimulus for the virtual reality system. The blood flow in the finger changes
every instant. The sensor shines a small very bright LED through the clip and measures the light
that gets transmitted to the Light Dependent Resistor. The signal firstly gets amplified after which
it is inverted and filtered. In order to calculate the heart rate based on the blood that flows to the
fingertip, the sensor is connected to a LM358 OP AMP for observing the heartbeat pulses. The
module gives a direct output digital signal when connected to a microcontroller. It is compact in

Symbols In Lord Of The Flies Research Paper
Friedrich Nietzsche once said, Words are but symbols for the relations of things to one another
and to us. According to dictionary.com, a symbol is something used for or regarded as
representing something else. There are many important symbols represented in The Lord of the
Flies by William Golding. These include the beast, the conch, and the signal fire. The beast, the
conch, and the signal fire are important symbols because they teach a lot to the boys and make
them who they are on the island. Who is the beast?; what is the conch?; and why is it important
to keep the fire? There is a beast in The Lord of the Flies. The beast is a figure of speech. It
represents the evil in all of us. The beast also stands for the devil in The Bible. Simon realizes
this after Jacks becomes obsessed with hunting and after he leaves to make his own tribe. All of
the boys on the island start to turn on each other; two of the boys are killed. Jack keeps
referencing to a beast on the island every time he hunts or kills a pig. There isnt a real, physical

I Am A Believer Of Growth Is Essential For Long Term Success
I am a believer in the idea that a mindset of growth is essential for long term success. Constantly
trying to become a stronger and better version of oneself, along with an attitude of continual
learning is a key element in becoming successful. It is this notion that describes my process
through college, and my decision to pursue a career in medicine. By the end of my freshman year, I
had dabbled in many fields, but was still unsure of the life I wished to pursue. I ve always had a
passion and desire to help others, and began to discover I had a talent in leading and motivating
others. While growing up in a tight knit community, many of my friends fell into the trap of crime
and drugs. I was able to organize various programs and retreats for these friends, and helped them
overcome their obstacles, and escape the addictions that afflicted them. I was able to see first hand
the positive effects a group of motivated individuals can accomplish when working together. This
led me to seek out other institutions that had a vision parallel to my passion for service.
My passion and zeal to find a purpose led me HUDA Clinic in early 2013, an institution that
provides free healthcare and medication to the impoverished community of Detroit. Within a few
months, I was promoted to Chief Volunteer Coordinator. This responsibility helped pave a path
both academically and (professionally??) for the remainder of my college career. As chief

Emerson, S Views Of Beliefs In Emerson And Emerson s Thoughts
1.According to Emerson, the genius idea, is the idea that an individual can speak their minds. As it
states, To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in our private heart is true

The Jew Of Malta Essay
The Jew of Malta is a rich with religious themes. From the biblical references in the naming of the
characters, to the conflict of the play being entirely religiously motivated. The Jew of Malta reads
like a religious history book; Catholics against Jews, Muslims against Catholics, and Jews against
pretty much everyone. And although something feels off about reading that many anti Semitic
stereotypes in one place, the work makes sure to criticize every group present in its pages,
including the Christians. Protestants are completely absent from this narrative so it could be

Critic Sara M. Deets analyzed the relevance of The Jew of Malta s rampant biblical references,
pointing out that Barabas serves as a mockery of many major characters from Job to the
Antichrist. Deets explains, On Marlowe s great stage of fools and knaves, the protean Jew plays
many parts, becoming alternately a mock Christ, a mock Job, a mock Abraham, and a mock
Isaac (Deets 28). Yet Barabas is very far from a biblical success story, so this observation only
strengthens the argument that Marlowe is seeking to reject religion for its short comings and
promote a more enlightened world view. Deets further explains Barabas function as a Biblical
parody, Barabas continues his mock imitation of Christ: he is betrayed by his supposed heir and
leading disciple Ithamore; he is apprehended and condemned to death by the establishment; he
undergoes a sham death and a bogus resurrection like everything in Barabas life, a purely
physical rather than a spiritual ordeal (Deets 31). This profound parallel with biblical Christ is
what leads to the conclusion that The Jew of Malta serves more as a criticism of religion in
general than anything else. The members of the religion are being criticized, but the ideology itself

Interactions within Biological Systems Lead to Complex...
Enduring Understanding 4.A: Interactions Within biological systems lead to complex properties.
Overview
Almost every aspect of biology involves interaction between different components and systems. It
starts all the way at the cellular level with the interactions of cell organelles that allow a cell to
function and it goes all the way up to the way different ecosystems come together to form complex
communities and interactions. It is these interactions that make biological systems complex and
how cells are specialized in one animal affects the way that animal interacts with the others around
it. These interactions create ever changing and unique properties that make organisms function in
the way in which they do so.
Essential knowledge 4.A.1: The subcomponents of biological molecules and their sequence
determine the properties of that molecule
Proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and carbohydrates are the four basic macromolecules. Each of these
macromolecules are made up of smaller components that determine the specific macromolecule and
how it functions.
Proteins

Patterns On The Yellow Wall-Paper
Conversely, the narrator, I , is the representative of women who try to fight against the
oppression of the society and strive for the real self liberation. Many of her behaviors in the text
can show that she used to be a sensitive, imaginative and optimistic person. Before the narrator
moves into the haunted house (647), she mentioned that there is something queer about it . She
also says that her physician husband perhaps is one reason she does not get well faster (648),
which all show that she knows what is benefit to her and what is not. From how she describes the
patterns on the yellow wall paper, they connect diagonally, and the sprawling outlines run off in
great slanting waves of optic horror, like a lot of wallowing seaweeds

Globalization Nation-State
Globalization is the process through which events and decisions in one part of the world have
come to affect people in another part of the world and therefore have led to greater inter locking of
different parts of the world. It has often been claimed that globalization poses challenges about the
validity of the concept of the nationstate. Some believe that because of liberalization and
globalization, the need of nation state or the concept of sovereigntywithin the nation state has
diminished. I strongly disagree with this statement and therefore will like to prove my point in the
upcoming paragraphs.
According to Grotius, Sovereignty is the supreme political power vested in him whose acts are
not subject to any other and whose will cannot be over ridden . It shows that Sovereignty is the
exclusive, all comprehensive or universal, inalienable, permanent and indivisible power of the
state. Furthermore, the concept of the nation state is well defined by Grossberg. He claims that
nation state is one which provides some securities to people such as physical security, economic
and social security. He went further that the nation state also means that sovereign is under control
of its own leadership or people, but not under control of some other external aspects. Therefore
nation state is identified as a political community in which the country has the power to set its own
laws in order to make sure that its territorial autonomy is integrated and political sovereignty is not

certain tribes on the plains and were influenced by what these agreements and treaties would

Comanches and Osages and related tribes was the first agreement with the U.S. and plains Indians
that kicked off treaties that promised indigenous peoples goods in return for peace and land.
Particularly in this respect was the 1835 treaty of Camp Holmes, in which Comanches granted
Osages and the populous immigrant tribes of Indian territory access to their lands in exchange for
trading privileges. The Comanches agreed to treaties that allowed Osages tribe and other parties of
the treaties access to their land and to remain at peace with one another, and affiliated tribes,

Transfer of energy from one ideal mode to another during propagation only due to mode

Comparing Faustian Legends In Washington Irving s The...
Faustian legends are common in many countries. The Devil and Tom Walker by Washington Irving
and The Devil and Daniel Webster by Stephen Vincent Benet bring the idea of making a deal with
the devil, and the repercussions of that deal, to American Literature. Each author writes a folktale
with uniquely American characters. The similarities and differences in both short stories depict the
philosophy of American culture. Because both short stories are folktales, the reader notices many
common elements. One common element that is shared by both short stories is the that the readers
can infer through their writing that both authors do not respect the way that the settlers treated the
Native Americans. This can be seen in Washington Irving s

  • 4. An Analysis Of Theodora And Attendants And Akhenaton,... The theme of the two art works, Theodora and Attendants, and Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three Daughters, is Political Authority. This is a theme presented countless times throughout art history, and is a theme that is still used in art today. It reflects the concerns and desires of the rulers of the time and is used as a form of propaganda by said rulers to change the minds of the people they are ruling. Art has power and the rulers use its power to control their people. The presentation of these pieces reveals that the rulers want their subjects to view them as powerful and divine. Both of these cultures are also heavily influenced by religion. Both Theodora and attendants and Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three Daughters are forms of political propaganda that use religion to try and influence their subjects. Akhenaton, Nefertiti, and Three Daughters, is from the Amarnaperiod in 18th dynasty ancient Egypt, which was around c. 1353 1335 BCE. This was a time where art in ancient Egypt was vastly different from anything that had come before it, mostly due to Akhenaton himself. The religion of the time was also very different, as it had become a monotheistic religion instead of a polytheistic one, where everyone now worships the life giving god Aton, represented here by the sun who is soaking them in life giving rays and the ankh placed on the sun representing Aton. • 5. How Parasitology Is A Very Important Area Of The... Parasitology is a very important area of the microbiology clinical laboratory of NYU Langone Medical Center. Medical technologists perform many different types of assays and observe countless samples under the microscope in order to detect the presence of any parasites causing infections. Parasitology is the study of parasitic organisms that cause disease within humans. Parasites are defined as organisms that live in or on another organism and uses its resources. The major groups of parasitic organisms studied and observed in the clinical laboratory are helminths, protozoa, and arthropods. Helminths are worm parasites and this group contains the parasitic subgroups nematodes, cestodes and trematodes. Nematodes are roundworms, cestodes are tapeworms, and trematodes are flukes. There are thousands of different species of helminths. Protozoa contains organelles within their cell. There are more than 50,000 species and are very common throughout the world. Arthropods are organisms with a chitin cytoskeleton, such as fleas, ticks, spiders, and insects. Although parasitic infections are most often associated with tropical areas they can also occur in subtropical and more temperate areas, even places such as New York City. Billions of people all over the world have fallen prey to parasitic infections. People who live, work, visit, or immigrate from more remote and underdeveloped parts of the world are at a higher risk of acquiring parasitic infections. The level of symptoms ... With technology rapidly increasing, allowing humans to accurately foresee weather patterns and construct buildings that are resistant to natural disaster, several people believe that they have conquered the natural world. As a matter of fact, in To Build a Fire and The Open Boat, nature overrides the characters efforts to preserve their lives in the freezing arctic and the sea. In To Build a Fire, the protagonist takes great measures to preserve his life from hypothermia in the 75 degrees below weather, but each time, nature works against his will. For instance, as he finally succeeds in building a fire to heat his body, an unexpected pile of snow falls off from the tree above him, dousing the flame: The snow fell without warning upon the man and the fire, and the fire was dead (London 10). Nature combats against the man s effort to warm his body, by eliminating an essential source for his survival, heat. Similarly, in the other story, the power of nature overrules a decision that the captain makes to elude the waves [that] continued pushing and turning and washing the boat (Crane 4). To specify, the captain orders the oiler and the correspondent to head towards the shore to avoid the waves. However, as the dinghy approaches closer to land, the waves get stronger forcing them to turn back to the open sea. The captain says, We ll never be able to reach the lighthouse now. One of the organizations that suffered dearly with the fall of the Soviet Unionwas the startup aviation company known as Baltia Air Lines. In a time where many countries were experiencing growth, Russia s GDP began to suffer. For Baltia Air Lines, this was a huge setback. In 1991, the United States Department of Transportation selected three new airlines to conduct flights from the United States to Russia, with Baltia Air lines joining the ranks of Pan American World Airways, American Airlines, and Trans World Airlines. Of the three newly appointed airlines, Baltia had a far superior proposal than that of Trans World Airways, as claimed by the U.S. Department of Transportation. • 18. Facilitated Diffusion Research Paper Facilitated diffusion is a process of passive transport across a biological membrane. Passive transport is the diffusion of substances across a membrane. This is a spontaneous process and cellular energy is not expended. Molecules will move from where the substance is more concentrated to where it is less concentrated. The cell membrane of eukaryotic cells is composed of a phospholipid bilayer. These phospholipids are composed of a polar head, made up of a phosphate group, and two non polar fatty acid tails. This amphipathic nature of phospholipids creates a semi permeable membrane, fluid enough to allow for the growth and movement of the cell but solid enough to hold the shape of the cell. The phospholipids of the membrane are arranged tail to tail which create a protective, hydrophobic region in between the bilayer. This hydrophobic area prevents many types of molecules from entering the cell including large, polar or charged molecules. This is an important feature for the regulation of substances and concentrations inside and outside the cell. However, it can become a problem because most vital molecules are unable to pass through the membrane through simple diffusion. For example, water is essential for a cells survival. Water is also a polar molecule. The cell allows water to pass in and out by using the process facilitated diffusion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Especially in jobs that local people don t find attractive for example low pay jobs like cleaners. Not only will people take low pay jobs but also skilled workers who have good qualifications will benefit the UK economy and its services for example highly skilled jobs such as doctors. My final judgement is that the initial argument is a weak one because the migrant workers will benefit the UK economy by taking jobs that have a shortage of labour that maybe would not get done otherwise. An advantage to the UK of free movement of labour within the EU is that migrant workers who come to UK could contribute to the positive multiplier effect. This is when an initial increase in aggregate demand can have a greater impact on GDP. The workers will be spending in the UK, boosting aggregate demand and GDP. The rise in GDP will create more jobs as firms look to expand. An argument against this point is that shortages may appear when migrants return home because overall they want to help their families in their own country. Spending may be decreased because of this which will decrease aggregate demand and GDP. Also, this could lead to a difficulty in long term stability because if they can leave as easily as they can arrive then there will be a shortage of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Constantly trying to become a stronger and better version of oneself, along with an attitude of continual learning is a key element in becoming successful. It is this notion that describes my process through college, and my decision to pursue a career in medicine. By the end of my freshman year, I had dabbled in many fields, but was still unsure of the life I wished to pursue. I ve always had a passion and desire to help others, and began to discover I had a talent in leading and motivating others. While growing up in a tight knit community, many of my friends fell into the trap of crime and drugs. I was able to organize various programs and retreats for these friends, and helped them overcome their obstacles, and escape the addictions that afflicted them. I was able to see first hand the positive effects a group of motivated individuals can accomplish when working together. This led me to seek out other institutions that had a vision parallel to my passion for service. My passion and zeal to find a purpose led me HUDA Clinic in early 2013, an institution that provides free healthcare and medication to the impoverished community of Detroit. Furthermore, the concept of the nation state is well defined by Grossberg. He claims that nation state is one which provides some securities to people such as physical security, economic and social security. He went further that the nation state also means that sovereign is under control of its own leadership or people, but not under control of some other external aspects. Therefore nation state is identified as a political community in which the country has the power to set its own laws in order to make sure that its territorial autonomy is integrated and political sovereignty is not ... • 46. Comanche s Influence On Native Americans Likewise, The Comanche Empire began forming alliances and agreeing to terms of peace with certain tribes on the plains and were influenced by what these agreements and treaties would bring for the Comanche peoples subsistence. Treaty of Camp Holmes signed between the Comanches and Osages and related tribes was the first agreement with the U.S. and plains Indians that kicked off treaties that promised indigenous peoples goods in return for peace and land. Particularly in this respect was the 1835 treaty of Camp Holmes, in which Comanches granted Osages and the populous immigrant tribes of Indian territory access to their lands in exchange for trading privileges. The Comanches agreed to treaties that allowed Osages tribe and other parties of the treaties access to their land and to remain at peace with one another, and affiliated tribes, because of the agreement the Comanches were granted new trade networks in... As Article 4 from the treaty states, It is understood and agreed by all the nations or tribes of Indians parties to this treaty, that each and all of the said nations or tribes have free permission to hunt and trap in the Great Prairie west of the Cross Timber, to the western limits of the United States . The treaty opened the hunting grounds to all tribes which in return now allowed the Comanche more access to hunting that could provide them with even more furs and more commerce to trade for firearms, and ammo. In addition, the Comanche were also promised provisions for signing this treaty, and of these included firearms, ammo, and blacksmithing services for guns. As article 8 from the Camp Holmes Treaty states, their associated bands or tribes of Indians have freely and willingly entered this treaty, that they shall receive presents immediately after signing, as a donation from the U.S.; nothing being asked from these nations or tribes in return, except to remain at ... • 48. Advantages And Modes Of Effective Devices modes to generate LP11 modes (LP11a+LP11b) and even all three modes (LP01+LP11a+LP11b)over few mode fiber (FMF)The transmission system with mode multiplexing are a very crucial problem. The mode selective devices proposed in divided into two major categories: free space based (FSB) and fiber based(FB).Free space components are bulky in size ex liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) spatial light modulator (SLM). But fiber based mode selective device have compact and easiness of integration. .Firstly proposed 107 Gb/s coherent optical OFDM (CO OFDM) transmission over a 4.5 km two mode fiber using LP01 and LP11 modes. Secondly proposed 58.8 Gb/s CO OFDM transmission using dual modes where the mode separation is achieved via 4Г— 4 electronic MIMO... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Transfer of energy from one ideal mode to another during propagation only due to mode coupling. It has been observed that practically strong couple modes having equal or nearly equal propagation constant but weakly coupled modes having a highly unequal propagation constant. The separation between two modes results in modal dispersion increasing capacity through mode division multiplexing (MDM). SMF ( single mode fiber helps in the wave movement in two polarization conditions. Polarization mode dispersion (PMD) and polarization dependent loss (PDL) have long been described by field coupling models. It has been observed that strongly coupled modal group delay or gain depend only no. of modes and variance of accumulated delay or gain and can be derived from the eigenvalue distributions of certain random variables[7]. SDM (space division multiplexing) has been putforth by Savory. SDM is extremely challenging technology, of requiring developments in all areas of Photonics Technology. The optical communication systems are being upgraded every day .There is a rapid development taking place in this field at the global level in the space division multiplexing. Space Division Multiplexing (SDM) is conceptually simple, SDM is extremely challeng technologically, requiring the development of new fibers, amplifiers, multiplexers, digital signal processing circuits, and other components. The multiplexing means the utilization of channel by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Comparing Faustian Legends In Washington Irving s The... Faustian legends are common in many countries. The Devil and Tom Walker by Washington Irving and The Devil and Daniel Webster by Stephen Vincent Benet bring the idea of making a deal with the devil, and the repercussions of that deal, to American Literature. Each author writes a folktale with uniquely American characters. The similarities and differences in both short stories depict the philosophy of American culture. Because both short stories are folktales, the reader notices many common elements. One common element that is shared by both short stories is the that the readers can infer through their writing that both authors do not respect the way that the settlers treated the Native Americans. This can be seen in Washington Irving s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
