Mutations are changes in the genetic material of a cell that can result in changes to proteins. There are three main types of point mutations: silent mutations which do not change the protein, missense mutations which change one amino acid in the protein, and nonsense mutations which result in a premature stop in translation. Frameshift mutations occur when nucleotides are inserted or deleted, changing the reading frame and resulting in a completely different protein sequence with no stop codon. Mutations can occur during DNA replication due to errors or exposure to mutagens like UV light, chemicals, or intercalating dyes.

These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
