Differences And Similarities Between The Minks, Frogs,...
God created a vast majority of animals in this world. From large mammals to the tiniest of
amphibians, God created these animals with special care. He knew what He was doing when He
created the inner and outer anatomy of each animal, and He equipped them with that they would need
to survive. Through dissections, we can discover what God equipped these animals with and learn
their functions. Three animals specifically can be observed and compared: minks, frogs, and mice.
Through the comparison of these three animals and the similarities and differences found, we can
learn more about our Creator, how inner anatomy applies to us, and what comparative anatomy shows
us is false in evolution. The male mink was 1 7 in length and about 4.5 in ... Show more content on

It s internal anatomy can be compared to both the mink s and the frog s. The heart, lungs, diaphragm,
intestines, and liver were all visible and located around the same area that the frog s and the mink s
were. The pancreas was found behind the intestines and liver, and Mr. Wilson confirmed the find
(Wilson). Again, it s internal anatomy was similar to the other animals observed. As stated before,
dissections can help us discover the truth about our Creator and show us the fallacies in evolution. The
complexity and the uniformity found in all three of the animals observed could not have happened by
chance. The only answer is that there was an Intelligent Designer. The differences found can be
testaments to an Intelligent Designer as well. God designed all of the internal organs to be sized so
that the animal could function properly. If the liver in the mouse and the liver in the mink were
switched, neither would live because they need an organ made for them to function. Again, dissections
can point us to an Intelligent Designer. Through the mink, frog, and mouse, much can be learned about
comparative anatomy, how it applies to us, and our Creator Who desires a deep relationship with

Customary Law and the Status of Indigenous Australian s Essay
It is important to always show respect towards the indigenous, acknowledge their laws, their practices
and their customs further paying respects to the original custodians of the land. This however does not
mean that recognition of aboriginal customary law is essential to improving the status (social position)
of indigenous Australians; on the contrary it poses more problems than solutions. Although law is seen
as the fabric of existence and intrinsic to living, it is impossible to judge one legal system in terms of
another. As such, while there are many positive aspects of aboriginal customary law, which is merely
just different and in no means (worse) or (better) than English common law, its enforcement is not
essential to improving the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, the ability to determine which laws are in affect with which Indigenous and non indigenous
Australian s becomes limited and the issue falls to public disapproval. Due to the unwritten nature of
aboriginal customary law confusion would arise as to who must/can abide by certain customary laws
and punishments for those who disobey. An injustice would then occur when distinguishing which
indigenous Australian s receive the blanket of customary law and whether or not it extends to half
casts and if so, to whom does it extend. This general confusion would create not only laws that are un
easy to follow but would also create many general misinterpretations of the law and could lead to
further racism attitudes. Said racism attitudes would ignite when scrutiny over punishments and who
receives them arises while people strive for equality and argue over the degree of fairness received.
This scrutiny not only hinders the status of indigenous Australian s rather than improving it, but can
also lead to future hostilities and class/status debates again creating the possibility of a negative
impact.
There are various other remedies that could be implemented in order to improve the status of
Indigenous Australia s especially with the flexible common law structure, some of which have already

Research Questions, Objectives and Hypothesis
Research objectives are the goals of the research study. Research objectives specify the reason
researchers are conducting research. For example, researchers may want to better understand the
difference in pain scale results among subjects with a diagnosis of moderate traumatic brain injury. In
this case the research objective would cause researchers to take steps to conduct scientific analysis to
determine the variations in pain experienced between a group of individuals without a diagnosis of
TBI and a group of individuals with TBI.
The research objective is to determine if there is a difference in perceived pain levels among patients
with a diagnosis of moderate traumatic brain injury as compared with individuals without a diagnosis

This question guides the course of the research study and guides researchers in setting up the study
effectively and accurately. It is important, throughout the course of research, to ensure that additional
questions do not cloud the initial research question (Farrugia et al. 2010). This requires a focus on the
original research question and the ability of researchers to set aside additional questions that may arise
for later research studies.
A research hypothesis or alternative hypothesis is the hypothesis which researchers want to support
that predicts a significant difference exists between the two groups being compared (Jackson 2011).
For further description, Farrugia et al. describes the research hypothesis a hypothesis developed from
the research question and then the main elements of the study sampling strategy, intervention (if
applicable), comparison and outcome variables are summarized in a form that establishes the basis for
testing, statistical and ultimately clinical significance (Farrugia et al. 2010). The research hypothesis
differs from the null hypothesis and sets the course of the study, the study details and types of
measures used during the study. Jackson provides an example of a research hypothesis being derived
from an initial research objective when a researcher wants to illustrate that children who attend
educationally based after school programs have higher IQ scores compared

Value Clarification Report
Values Clarification Exercise #1
My 10 values:
Service
Family
Independence
Challenge
Purpose
Knowledge
Virtue
Spirituality
Hope
Commitment
1. I believe that these values do accurately reflect what is of greatest importance to me. There are
alternate values that perhaps could have landed on this list, but these values ring true to me and are an
accurate portrayal of that which I hold dear to me and use as guidance within my life decisions. 2. The
most difficult values to discard were forgiveness, loving, and nurturing. I had an arduous time ranking
items such as God s will and friendship. My predicament with God s will was my ruling on whether it
was legitimately very important to me, or whether I simply knew that it should be. It s ... Show more

Based on my week, I spend the bulk of my time on school associated activities. This was not a
surprise to me, what I was surprised by was the small amounts of time that I devote to my religion.
Although I attend seminary, read my scriptures, and pray everyday, the accumulative time of all on
these activities adds to just over an hour a day. I am quite aware of how I spend my time, it is very
unusual for me to lay around and waste time of useless tasks.
2. Based on my week, I can only largely identify two main values from exercise #1: knowledge and
service. This makes sense because I spend 32 hours sitting in class a week. This doesn t include time
spent on homework or other corresponding activities. Something that did not make too large of an
appearance was my spirituality. I will admit that my scripture studies and other related activities were
extremely diminished this week. But it is to be expected that my religion isn t quite as evident within
my daily schedule because it isn t practical to spend over 4 hours a day reading scriptures, there
simply isn t enough time. True spirituality is seen through more subtle actions than in extravagant
activities that draw large amounts of attention. With this considered, I do still need to increase the
amount of time I spend improving my

Conflict Is An Inevitable Element Of Life We All Go Through
Conflict is an inevitable element of life; we all go through conflict in every ramification of our life: in
relationships, family of origin and even workplaces. What is conflict? Interpersonal conflict can be
defined as an expressed struggle between two or more interdependent parties who perceive
incompatible goals, scarce resources, and interference from others in achieving their goals (Wilmot an,
2011, pg.11). It is important to note that conflict is not always bad and it can range from a mild
disagreement to outright war between two parties. In this paper, I will analyze my conflict situation
using some conflict resolution concepts and also substantiate insights on how my conflict could have
been better handled.

At the meeting the next Monday, one item at the agenda was to give constructive feedback about the
event and all we got from Priscila was outright negative feedbacks ranging from the setup to the duties
assigned. After that meeting she started giving an attitude to all the executives and also giving excuses
for not coming to the council s weekly meetings. After many weeks of negative attitudes and excuses,
she resigned from her executive position and sent an email to the co chairs to affect that change.
The issue within this conflict is based on the question of who should welcome the audience to the
event. I wanted to welcome the audience to the event because I had been assigned that duty as agreed
upon in the previous meeting while Priscila wanted to do the welcome or introductions because it fit
into her duty as moderator. Interpersonal conflict arises either because people want different things or
they want the same things. With regards to my conflict with Priscila, we both wanted to assume the
position of welcoming people to the event. Priscila and I belong to the same student advisory council
where we volunteer our time as council executives. In this conflict, Priscila wanted her opinions to be
respected while I wanted the notions addressed within the minutes to be adhered to without stepping
on another person s toe. Within this conflict, I wanted to save face and be seen as responsible, efficient
and competent as a leader who

Police Shootings And Its Effects On The United States
Research Paper
Throughout the last two years there have been many police involved shootings where they have killed
someone. Some say the cops where right and others say they were wrong in the situation. Are the
police right in using deadly force instead of trying a different situation? When is it ok for police to use
deadly force and are they right in doing so? In the past two years there have been multiple police
shootings, which have been the main topic with police. Some have said that race has played a huge
role in the recent shootings and blame racism on the deaths by the officers. In the recent cases it has
been a white officer who has killed a black person. Who has the say in the case if the police made the
right decision if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Forensics later came out to support officers Wilsons statement that Brown had in fact charged at the
officer and attempted to take Wilsons gun. It also proved that Brown did not have his hands up like the
media had initially stated, which caused mass frenzy and a huge protest that led to chants of hands up
don t shoot and black lives matter (Hitchcock). Now people start to look at other facts how he didn t
have a weapon on him at the time of the shooting and say that they didn t have to shoot and kill him.
You do not need a gun or knife to be a danger to another person; you always have two weapons, which
are your hands. Police shoot to kill they do not shoot to disarm (Miller) because you can still be a
threat. It doesn t mean that you still cannot kill someone who is a lot smaller than you without having
a gun. Black lives matter has become a major group protesting all over major cities in the United
States at the hands of Rev Al Sharpton. They have started many protest and campaigns to try and
change laws in which police are aloud to use deadly force when trying to arrest a suspect.
After all this was just starting to settle down another police involved killing happened in New York to
an Eric Garner. This time the police did not shoot him; he died from heart related problems which
people blame the police for his death after being placed in a chokehold until they could subdue him. In

Carpe Diem In To His Coy Mistress By Andrew Marvell
The poem To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell, speaks to his coy mistress about how time is
rapidly passing and he wishes her to reciprocate his feelings along with sexual desires. In this poem I
feel like Marvell is also talking to the reader and encouraging them to act upon their desires.
Ultimately live life to the fullest because time is running out. This poem is all about Carpe Diem with
a satirical aspect on love. Essentially Marvell is trying to get this mistress to sleep with him. He wants
her to abandon her false modesty and give in to his requests, so that all his problems can be fixed with
sex. In lines 1 20 Marvell starts out talking about how ideally, he would spend eternity loving her
before having sex with her. Verbs like sit, think, and walk are associated with slowing down but they
are used to show they have no time, We would sit down, and think which way to walk, and pass our
long love s day. (Marvell, To His Coy Mistress, 3 4) So, he would love her, but they don t have time.
There is an aspect of exaggeration via exoticism seen in Ganges vs Humbler. She is by the Ganges
with rubies while he is by the Humbler complaining. I think this really hints at the reality of what he is
trying to get at because rubies represent talismans that are supposed to preserve virginity (Mays, pg
765, footnote 7). There is a controlling aspect of the speaker where he then again states he would wait
if there was the time. Throughout the stanza the passion grows and he

Wedding Industry
Strategic Analysis Project Overview of the Wedding Industry The wedding industry is a large industry
in terms of dollars, but tracking where that money is spent is more difficult for several reasons. First, it
is an industry that is made up of multiple smaller enterprises like caterers, wedding consultants,
dresses, various beauty suppliers (hair, makeup), photographers, favors/bridesmaids gifts, music,
honeymoon related, etc. While the industry as a whole represents a lot of money, each of the
component parts is much smaller some smaller than others. These smaller composite suppliers can be
very local and likely will be small and privately owned traditionally the types of businesses that do not

Porter s Five Forces of Competition Framework 1. Rivalry Among Existing Firms High Medium Low
In wedding industry the rivalry among existing firms is considered medium. There are many venues,
but they vary by size, style, location, etc. So, in any given time and location, there are two or four
similar places that compete in the given location, time, style, and size. Some are doing exclusively
weddings; others expend their services to corporate events, birthdays, concerts, and other outings.
There are not that many historic mansions that offer wedding receptions, but they compete with hotels,
clubs, museums, restaurants, and other venues. 2. Treat of New Entrants High Medium Low The treat
of new entrants is not very high but is not low either. One needs to have money to start this business in
addition to the permits and licenses. For example, the new competitor (in the case of Historic Mansion
Events Venue) will have to find a Historic Mansion, sometimes has to do full renovation (around
$3Million), do landscaping (around $50K), install the commercial kitchen and provide the in house
catering and also implement an extensive and costly marketing

How Are Maggie And Dee Alike
Some sisters have a great relationship, but some do not. The characteristics of both sisters shape that
relationship. Although Dee and Maggie are sisters in the story Everyday Use , they have many
characteristics that are different, but they also have a few characteristics that are similar. Dee and
Maggie both differ in the characteristics of being assertive and being family oriented, but they share
the characteristic of being clever. Firstly, Dee and Maggie differ in the characteristic of assertiveness.
From the very beginning, one can notice that Dee is a lot more assertive than Maggie. In fact, it can be
said that Maggie is not assertive at all; she is submissive. Dee is decisive and confident even when she
was young. Dee will not take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They both are clever. Even though they are both clever, they are clever in different ways. Dee is
educated when it comes to academics. For example, Mama says that Dee went to Augusta to school
and learned many things, But that was before we raised the money, the church and me, to send her to
Augusta to school... She washed us in a river of make believe, burned us with a lot of knowledge we
didn t necessarily need to know, (Page 79). Dee is very clever because she went to Augusta, Georgia
for school and is knowledgeable in subjects related to academics. Her knowledge on those subjects
still doesn t mean that it is any use to her family directly. Likewise, Maggie is also very clever.
Maggie may not be as educated as Dee, but she is still very clever. Maggie shows how clever she is
when she says this, Aunt Dee s first husband whittled the dash... His name was Henry, but they called
him Stash. At that, Dee comments, Maggie s brain is like an elephant s, (Page 81). Maggie is clever
because she can remember things from a long time ago. Dee acknowledges this fact by comparing her
brain to an elephant s. An elephant can also remember things from the past well too. Maggie s ability
to remember events is what makes her clever. Therefore, Maggie and Dee both share the characteristic
of being

Melvin B. Tolson s The Great Debates
The Great Debates is a drama that was released in the year 2007, it is based on a real life story of an
African American man named, Melvin B. Tolson. Academy Award winning actor Denzel Washington
plays Melvin B. Tolson in the movie. Melvin B. Tolson was a professor at Wiley College Texas. In the
year 1935, Mr. Melvin B. Tolson, motivates the students to join their school s first debate team. The
team made it all the way up to compete with Harvard in the national championship, furthermore,
Harvard was known as the best. The debate team was a team of four students, three boys and one girl.

He continued to tell them that his father was one of the meanest and the most restless slave in that
time. He sternly told them that his father was strip of his clothes with each leg tied to two horse facing
opposite direction. His father was then set on fire, while each horse was whipped, causing him to
ripped apart. Basically he was telling them the slave masters take their minds but kept their bodies.
Therefore, they should keep their minds, especially being young and on the debate team (Washington,
Black, Forte, Roth, Winfrey, Eisele Porro, 2008). Denzel Washington was graphic and serious while
he was telling the students about his father. However, I believe he had thought them a good lesson in
the dialogue. I believe the moral of the dialogue is to keep your mind regardless of what may
happened in your life. Because if someone control your mind they basically control your life, for
example, the slaves. Nevertheless, Denzel Washington used intercultural communication ethics which
I think was good.
However, in another scene, Denzel Washington employs Public discourse ethics. Public discourse
ethics protects and promotes a place of conversation for diversity of ideas and persons (Arnett, Fritz,
Janie Bell, 2008). Moreover, Denzel Washington was in a secret and private barn with approximately
fifty five other men, they were African Americans, Hispanics as well as Caucasian. They seem to be
discussing issues that they were facing with the farm bosses, therefore they were trying to get
organized and have a plan so to make things right for them (Washington, Black, Forte, Roth, Winfrey,

Marley and Me was written by John Grogan and published in 2005. The book was acknowledged as a
New York Times Bestseller and was created into a movie in 2008, that sold 247.8 million box office
tickets. Marley and Me was a heart touching, biographical story about a couple who decided to buy a
yellow labrador retriever puppy, with John Grogan as the narrator. He describes his life with his wife,
puppy and children up until the death of Marley and the lessons that Marley taught along the way. The

Throughout the novel, Marley showed the Grogan s how terrible of a dog he was, whether it was

the narrator had bought for his wife, Jenny. Despite Marley s bad behavior and the fact he got kicked
out of obedience school, his unconditional love he had for his family and the protection he attained
regarding the Grogan s three children was irreplaceable. John Grogan described this by stating, Like
any relationship, this one has it s cost. They were costs we came to accept and balance against the joy
and amusement and protection and companionship he gave us, (Page 265). The author used the word
cost to allude to the numerous pillows Marley shredded, scream doors he busted through and cages he
ripped apart, along with the many other disasters he caused. The costs balance with the good things
Marley had to provide, meaning although he was a dog with many problems, he had good qualities
also that made up for his lack of obedience. The protection, companionship and joy overpowered any
anger they could have had regarding Marley s actions. This quote was significant because the reader
was ultimately given the meaning and purpose of the entire book, to decipher for

English 111 Lights, Camera, and Tactics Have you ever wondered where the photo of your favorite

harassed in the process of taking this photo? Do celebrities have a right to privacy? This essay takes a
look at the paparazzi, the celebrities, the tactics used to take the pictures, and the tactics used to avoid
a photo from being taken.
The Paparazzi
The paparazzi are possibly the most despised media practitioners. Members of this group can be seen
on the streets of Los Angeles and New York, hoping to catch an unguarded moment of a celebrity,
buying coffee, walking a dog, or doing just about any mundane activity. (Mendelson 1) ... Show more

Valdez writes,
Everything from disguises to decoys are used to avoid recognition in public places. At times,
celebrities use multiple cars to cover travel routes. False press statements and an alias can cover a
celebrity s whereabouts. More low tech solutions involve canopies over outdoor events and good old
fashioned bruiser security to keep the paparazzi at bay. (Valdez 6)
There are numerous tactics used to one up the paparazzi, including releasing photos of weddings and
first photos of their newborn babies to publications before the paparazzi can. Valdez reports, Catherine
Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas took perhaps some of the most famous and extreme set of measures
to keep paparazzi out of the picture at their wedding. The security measures cost over $60,000, which
included: All of the caterers, help, suppliers and any other vendors associated with the wedding had to
sign confidentiality agreements (even the ones that didn t get the job). And No wedding guests were
given the time or location of the wedding until the last minute. (Valdez 6) But even with the enormous
measures taken, paparazzo Rupert Thorpe managed to infiltrate the wedding and snap shots of the
bride and groom that he later sold to publications Hello! and The Sun. The celebrity couple was
furious and sought legal action, won a nominal settlement against the publications. (Valdez 6)
Supermodel Heidi Klum took a similar approach to keep paparazzi away from her daughter.

The Importance Of Women s Rights
Human rights which include the right to life and liberty as well as freedom that belong to all human
beings inherently despite of their statuses without discrimination (United Nations, 1948). Among
issues of human rights, women s rights could be one of the most serious ones. In the 1990s, women s
rights were not generally accepted as human rights and suffered various violations (Bunch, 1990).
Despite women s rights have been improved so far in most regions that female have almost equal
employment opportunities and enhanced status in society, the issues of female rights need to be
considered because they still have inferior positions compared with men in workplace and society due
to a lot of factors.
The most vital reason for improving women s rights is the perpetuate violations of women s rights in
some regions. Certainly, women s positions in society have been enhanced a lot since the public has
attached importance to female and their rights. According to Wadesango, Rembe and Chabaya (2011),
members of Southern African Development Community (SADC) have taken measures to prohibit
traditional practices which are harmful to women. However, lack of capacity, resources and
commitment among the implementers make these legislations be pale in protecting female
(Wadesango et al, 2011, p.121). Therefore, detrimental cultural practices include female genital
mutilation, marriage by abduction, child marriages and virginity testing still bring women physical

Nicotine Research Paper
To many individuals simply quitting smoking proves to be a bit more difficult that they might think. It
is a weak mindset of the individual or is it something more than just going cold turkey. Looking a little
deeper to the content of what cigarettes contain, one of its ingredients might have a better explanation
as to why it might be so challenging to just give up smoking tobacco. Nicotine is an alkaloid that in its
natural state it has a clear liquid appearance with a characteristic odor. When it is expose to air it
changes its coloration to a brown color. Nicotine can be absorbed via oral mucosa as it is found on
dipping and chewing products, as well as through the lungs as cigarettes, cigars, vaping devices and
second hand smoke. Nicotine can also be absorbed via the skin in a form of nicotine patches. Once
nicotine is ingested, it s absorbed and metabolized by the liver. ... Show more content on

Informative Essay On Albinism
How many of you know someone with albinism? Can you visualize that person? Or what do you think
an albino looks like? What stereotype comes to mind? I m sure many of you may think that albinos
have the red or pink eyes with white skin and hair, but most of you probably don t know that is not
always true.
For those of you who don t know, I have a type of albinism that will be discussing today along with
what albinism, who gets it, the different types, the symptoms, and if there is a treatment or not.
Most of you may ask, What is albinism and who gets it? Albinism is a rare genetic disorder that causes
the skin, hair, and eyes to have little to no color. About 1 in 18,000 to 20,000 people in the United
States have a form of albinism, stated by Rose Kivi, author of the article Albinism Health line
published on November 23, 2015.
Albinism is caused by a mutation in one of several genes. It also has a defect in one of several genes
that produce or distribute melanin. Melanin is the pigment responsible for the color of the skin, hair
and eyes. People who have albinism are more susceptible to developing skin cancer because there is a
lack of melanin produced in the body. Melanin also plays a huge role in the eyes, so the lack of
pigment causes them to be extremely sensitive to light, according to the article Albinism last updated

The people who are at risk for albinism are people who inherit a gene from one or both of their parents

A Summary Of Reckitt Benckiser
Reckitt Benckiser is a British multinational company in the consumer goods industry, producing
health, hygiene and home products. Companies in this industry sell low involvement purchase
products and therefore compete on low margins and high sales volumes to survive in the market
(Tarver, 2017). For FMCGs short term activity is of utmost importance followed by long term
solvency and profitability including market value which should be monitored with using financial
ratios.
LIQUIDITY RATIOS
In the consumer goods industry, liquidity ratios are paramount (Tarver, 2017) as they determine the
company s immediate revenue generating activities and consequent ability to meet short term
liabilities. This is measured using Current and Quick Ratios (Appendix 1, a). The industry has an
average Current Ratio of 0.86 TTM (Morningstar, 2017). RB s Current Ratios seem to have increased
from 2015 s 0.57 to 0.63 in 2016 (Appendix 1, a). This means that if RB liquidates all its Current
Assets, they will only be able to cover 57% and 63% of its liabilities and not the full amount. While
there has been an increase in percentage coverage between the years, RB is still below the industry
average and therefore needs to collect back money owed to them quicker, stop selling inventory on
credit or sell off unproductive current assets. For a holistic view of the RB s liquidity, the Quick Ratio
was calculated (Appendix 1, a). By removing Inventory from the equation, the ratio doesn t take into

In 1897, Bram Stoker wrote Dracula, the story of a monstrous Transylvanian count who terrorized

historically significant literary work, and its importance has caused many scholars to debate whether
Bram Stoker s main character Dracula was actually inspired by real historical figures. Although all
evidence used in the debate is somewhat unreliable, it can be established that Bram Stoker based his
character Count Dracula on historical figures to a certain extent. Many scholars believe that Vlad the

Persuasive Essay On Changing The Military
In the new government we are making, we should keep our current military. The purpose of a military
is to protect a nation s citizens and territories from threats. If we do not have an army, our new country
will be left helpless if attacked. So, obviously we should keep it. Now the question is. Should we
change it or not. I believe that we should not change it. The military as is is powerful and helpful and
important. The military has not failed to keep us safe.
The local government provides public safety, fire protection, health, waste protection, housing,
education, and public transportation.
Everyone is allowed the chance of being in the army. But people who are at a disadvantage such as
being having terrible vision.
The current military budget is $598.5 billion. Budget it increasing due to new and modernized
technology to serve well and insure its citizens will have freedom.
In Article 1 Section 8 clause 12 it says, To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money
to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years Then in clause 13 it says, To provide and
maintain a Navy. In clause 15 it says, To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of
the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions.

if they see a problem, they will do something to change it and make it better. We trust our leaders and
trust them to make our decisions for the better of our futures as a free country. Obviously, within a
military there are flaws and room for improvement, however we have faith in our leaders and so far,
our leaders have proven to be successful in our current issues. For instance, in recent events, the
military has actually increased its security around military bases because of general ISIS threats, and
they do not want to risk the safety of our nation s people. (ABC

Oroonoko, By Aphra Behn
Aphra Behn s work Oroonoko was ahead of its time in its discussion of slavery and colonization.
Oroonoko revealed the negative side of the slave trading industry which was something almost
unheard of in the 17th century when slave trading was a booming business and a part of everyday life.
In the work it can be validated that Behn s reason behind writing this novel in this time period was
that she did not want this man s life to be forgotten or be lost in vain. Furthermore, it is believe that
Behn was taking a stand against slavery using experience, change, and the truth. In America today
slavery has been abolished for over 150 years and yet it is still a very real situation for countries
around the world. When Behn was alive slavery was an everyday occurrence in most countries around
the world in some form. Slavery in the 17th century meant, as it does today, that a person had no
control over his destiny, no choice of occupation or employer, no rights to property or marriage, and
no control over the fate of his children. (Mier and Kopytoff 3). Many higher class Europeans viewed
slaves as goods and not real people ignoring the fact and treating them as animals to do their bidding.
Some people treated their slaves better then others, however the fact that they were still slaves
remained. Slavery was a so common it was not unordinary for the people of Europe, and later on
America, to have them as a commodity while importing and exporting them. Freeing the slaves was

Amsterdam By Ian Mcewan Analysis
In Amsterdam by Ian McEwan the moral choice is not necessarily a conspicuous one. Throughout the
novel doing what is moral is clouded by the characters selfishness or what they presume to be
selflessness. Friendship, politics and media are typically associated with the more ambiguous areas in
life. In Amsterdam, the intricacies of these topics are made even more complex by the Clive Linley s
inward conflicts. The complexities of morality and ambition are revealed through McEwan s
employment of imagery and the striking characterization of Clive Linley. To begin with, McEwan s
use of imagery is quite powerful as one is in enveloped into Clive Linley s environment and inward
thoughts as he ventures through the mountains. Clive is hoping to find the theme for his final
symphony while being surrounded by nature. Linley strives to produce a symphony with the spiritual
weight of Beethoven s Ode to joy(McEwan). However, while on his quest he begins to feel
apprehensive about the colossal emptiness and even the rock mass above the valley starts resembling a
long frown set in stone (McEwan). As Linley continues his journey the nature that was supposed to
spark genius hinders his creative process by causing him to feel that his mission was pointless. Linley
begins questioning if focusing on his last symphony is the right choice for him to make or if he is just
using it as a tool to distract him from a fear of death. Linley s nihilistic reflection can make one doubt

In Macbeth, William Shakespeare writes this passage in order to shape the character of Lady Macbeth.
Using only this line, the reader can almost determine Lady Macbeth s personality and her motives.
Up to the point where this quote leaves off, we have not heard much of Lady Macbeth. When she

husband s newly attained power. It is evident that the first impression of Lady Macbeth is negative.

By now, we are able to recognize Lady Macbeth s nature. Her thoughts are bombarded with dark
images and her mind is set on the murder of the King.
Finally, in the last and most significant part of the sentence Lady Macbeth says, unsex me here. In
context, she wants the spirits to come and take away her soft, feminine characteristics. She feels that
her husband is too nice to get the greatness he is promised, and the only way he can succeed is if she
helps him. From what we have seen, Lady Macbeth seems to be the man of the house. She is willing
to do anything that is necessary in order for her to be queen, including murder. She is also quite smart,
she knows that her husband tends to be passive, and is not about to give up on him now. In the first
half of the novel, Lady Macbeth is the brain behind the operation. She not only provides the actual
plan, but encourages her husband as well. During the period the novel was written, women were
considered to be submissive. However in her case, she is so influential that Macbeth is even persuaded
by her.
To help convince Macbeth not to call the murder off, Lady Macbeth questions his manhood. She says,
When you durst do it, then you were a man;/ And to be more than what you were, you would/ Be so

Predation Cost of Conspicuous Male Coloration in Collard...
Introduction Animal coloration is due to pigmentation found in the skin, feathers, and fur. Pigments
are chemical substances produced in animals, which are accountable for coloration in living things.
Pigments absorb some wavelengths of light and reflect specific wavelengths of visible light. The
visible light that is reflected is what is seen (Biological Pigments 2010). Chromatophores are also
important. These are pigment containing cells that are in the deep layers of the skin in animals.
Chromatophores can be identified as melanophores (black), erythrophores (red), xanthophores
(yellow), or lecophores (white) based on the color of the pigments. The dispersal of these cells and the
pigments and their orientation determine the color ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Population level studies have helped to explain the constraints that natural selection has on
conspicuous coloration. For example, populations of chuckwallas (Sauromalus obesus) that suffered
greater rates of predation were more drably colored than those who did not (Kwiatkowski 2003). Even
though there is an abundance of evidence that sexual selection and species recognition favor
conspicuous coloration, there is little experiential evidence that depict more conspicuous organisms
suffer greater predation (Grant 1965; Williams 1977; Andersson 1994; Houde 1997). A limitation of
support for a relationship between conspicuousness and predation risk is the way conspicuous colors
are categorized. Studies show that the visual systems of different species of animals vary significantly
from humans; so what colors seem conspicuous to humans, may not be conspicuous to a predator
(Fleishman et al. 1993; Cuthill et. al 2000; Hart 2001b; Marshall 2001). Although it is highly assumed
that males are more likely to be preyed upon more frequently than females because of their
conspicuous coloration, evidence for this is inconsistent (Andersson 1994; Zuk and Kolluru 1998). A
study done on guppies (Poecilia reticulate) revealed that the conspicuous males were attacked equal to
or less than the dull females (Pocklington and Dill 1995). Another study that was performed on rock
dragons showed that the more conspicuous males were preyed upon

our environment as we do the things necessary for survival. Much of our success in life seems to

How Did Truman Support The Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki
The Japanese way was to fight to the death, so the only way to defeat the Japanese was to bomb them.
With Japan s heavily guarded enemy lines, there was no way that the U.S. would be able to invade

surrender, but they turned it down, so Truman gave the command to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I
support the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki because Japan refused to an unconditional surrender,
it would save many allied lives, it would establish U.S. as a dominant power, and end the war.
The U.S. viewed the bombings as a necessity because Truman gave the Japanese a chance to surrender

World War Part 2 Summary
In Part II, Glover discusses the tragic effects of war on the average person s morality. This is done
through morally distancing oneself from what events that are considered horrific or tragic. As soldiers
and armies slowly distance themselves from close range combat with long range strikes such as
missiles and drones, there is more acceptance of what is normally considered impermissible.
Glover concludes that the weight of war on the human moral identity breaks it down. It enforces a
civilian to go against one the biggest tenants of civilian life which is to do not harm and not kill. By
requiring soldiers to kill other humans, they require a dehumanization of soldiers in order to make
them more effective as well as skewing their moral compass. Glover shows that events such as Mai
Lai and soldiers abusing civilians doesn t stem from a trait, but from the erosion of human morality as
conflicting traumatic events force the individual to change their own code.
Current literature supports Glover s theory in terms of the damaging effect of war on the human
psychology. It has progressed to the point where soldiers experience flashbacks or PTSD from how
horrifying the experience was. The effects of war on the individual is well documented and Glover

ideology comes with the shift in a moral compass of the individual. If armies are intentionally training
soldiers to lose emotion and become more of Robots, then its not wonder that people s moral compass

The Prelude Essay
In all of the poems, I have a deeper personal connection to the poem from The Prelude, Book
Thirteen, Line 142 et seq, especially from lines 18 30. To me, these lines mean that school only
teaches what is in a book, not about the world around us. In sense, we learn more outside of school
than inside of school. Before I attended Brooklyn Tech, I went to King Collegiate Charter. In the fifth
grade, the student population in my middle school is 100% African American, and the staff population
was 99.9% Caucasian. In 2010, in New York Times, my middle school was named the most

George Washington Code Of Honor Essay
George Washington towered over men with decorum. Men followed him, not out of fear but out of
respect and admiration. Washington was not a loquacious orator, but his silence spoke volumes. When
he spoke, briefly but authoritatively, others listened. They knew he meant what he said because of his
code of honor both on and off the battlefield. It was this code of honor that made him a successful
general and an even more successful President of the United States.
On February 22, 1732 (February 11, 1732 in the British defective calendar ), George Washington
inconspicuously entered the world in Westmoreland County, Virginia (Alden 2). Not part of the British
elite, his ancestors settled in the colonies from Britain and prospered with farming and tobacco
plantations. George Washington was just eleven years old when his father died. He received only local
and brief schooling... [and became fascinated with] a set of Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior
(Alden 5) diligently writing down 110 of those rules which would form his code of conduct and
civility. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The states needed to address the issues and come to a compromise. The Great Compromise...created a
national legislature composed of two houses (Fisher 250) to appease the large and small states. As the
delegates worked out issues, Washington wrote that the prospect [of a] general government...affords
me more satisfaction than I have ever before derived from any political event (Larson 247). In his
Farewell Address in 1796, after serving two terms, he denounced partisanship, embraced economic
nationalism, and discouraged permanent foreign alliances (Larson 301). His admonition against
partisanship were not heeded; consequently, he is the only nonpartisan President of the United States.
His advice resonates today as the divisiveness of the Republicans and the Democrats are polarizing the

Dawn Brancati Decentralization
Dawn Brancati furthered the literature around the decentralization of governments in her work,
Decentralization: Fueling the Fire or Dampening the Flames of Ethnic Conflict and Secessionism?.
She introduces a point that had not been explored before in academia, by showing a causal
relationship between regional parties and ethnic conflict/secessionism. She displays in her work that
political decentralization indirectly leads to ethnic conflict and secessionism. This is not inherent to
the structure of a decentralized government, but rather inherent to the political climate that
decentralization creates. This is because politically decentralized governments foster regional political
parties. She shows through a statistical analysis of 30 countries, that it is the power of regional parties
that ultimately increases or decreases ethnic conflict and desires for secession.
Her publication focuses on governments that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her analysis of decentralization focuses on ethnic conflict and secessionism. Ethnic conflict is
violence between ethnic groups and secessionism is the movement of people towards an independent
state. The main focus of her paper is on regional parties within politically decentralized governments.
Regional parties differentiate from a national political party in that a regional party focuses their
efforts both in policy making and campaigning in a specific region within a state.
Brancati begins her analysis by posing the question, what impact does a decentralized government
have on ethnic conflict and secessionism? The conventional knowledge on the topic is that political
decentralization is believed to reduce ethnic conflict and secessionism in the world today...by bringing
the government closer to the people, increasing opportunities to participate in government, and giving
groups control over their political, social, and economic affairs. She believes in this statement to the
extent that

The Invasion Of Undo-Europeans In Ancient India
ndo Europeans in Ancient India About 1500 BC, India was invaded by Indo European people. These
people came from the area between the Black Sea and the Caspian sea. Between 2500 and 2000 BC,
many Indo Europeans migrated all over Eurasia. Some went to Europe and became the Romans and
the Greeks, some settled in Turkey and became the Hittites. Others migrated south east instead. Some
of them stopped in Iran, while others continued south east to Pakistan and India. The slow migration
did not arrive in northern India until about 1500 BC. In India, the Indo Europeans are usually called

My heart is open to complement. Not to compete. Santana (Cobo, 2004). They were just a group of
young man, inspired by B. B. King to play music. With a guitarist that could blow people away with

making them unique from most bands in the 20th century.
Childhood

The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari Themes
The chosen film to be discussed in this journal submission will be The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. This
film was viewed in the Humanities building in a small lecture room with not many people in
attendance. German Expressionism is interesting to watch and be taught. This film truly highlighted
and explored the main themes, concept and ideas that were in German Expressionist films. Through
the use of stylistic elements, as the audience we were able to examine how German expressionist films
used this to express the inner thoughts of the realities of human beings during those times in history.
The film played with the ideas of horror, insanity and death as main themes in the film. Concepts that
were explored in the film that were intriguing to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a reflection of the deep inner human thoughts and how they viewed the world after World War
One during those times. Another example of the great use of lighting is the low key lighting used
throughout the film. The low key lighting emphasis the dark, scary nature and environment of the
realities of human beings, highlighting the imperfections of society. Thirdly, what was intriguing to
see is the relationship between narrative and shadowing, the lighting. In the film, we visually see how
the use of shadowing, especially when the man is about to murder someone, we can assume that he
will be murdering a person because the use of shadowing highlights the outlining of the man holding a
knife in his hand. This helps the narrative because it takes the audience through the storytelling and we
can make our own assumptions as to what will happen next after each scene. Fourthly, we also see a
major stylistic element shown throughout the film which is the slanted structures of the various
buildings, the photographic visuals of the town of Hostenwall. The images are distorted, disorientated
and dark. The photographic visuals can play as a representation of how the world is disfigured and
imbalanced, representing the reality of human lives after the world war

Dr. Michiya s In The Atomic Bomb
Imagine resting on the couch watching TV when a press of a button changes the world forever. A flash
of a shining light plunges everything into a murky darkness. The fading screams erupt around you.
Agony devours your bloody raw body and you look for your family, but they are part of the same
deathly silence that had engulfed the burning city. Blood mixes with the tears streaming down your
face and the sweet light leaves your young eyes forever and you become part of the hushed ashes of
your childhood city. The atom bomb was the cause of a brutal massacre of two towns that ended a war
of billions and the start of the ending era of our world. The atomic bomb is a weapon of mass
destruction. In other words, In the atomic bomb, the very power of the universe had been harnessed to
create the most destructive weapon imaginable. (Ogwyn 1) That catastrophic power of the universe
was put into a weapon, a weapon that would later have the power in numbers to destroy the whole
world and every soul in it. Even the scientists who created it knew of its tragic abilities when they said

  • 2. Differences And Similarities Between The Minks, Frogs,... God created a vast majority of animals in this world. From large mammals to the tiniest of amphibians, God created these animals with special care. He knew what He was doing when He created the inner and outer anatomy of each animal, and He equipped them with that they would need to survive. Through dissections, we can discover what God equipped these animals with and learn their functions. Three animals specifically can be observed and compared: minks, frogs, and mice. Through the comparison of these three animals and the similarities and differences found, we can learn more about our Creator, how inner anatomy applies to us, and what comparative anatomy shows us is false in evolution. The male mink was 1 7 in length and about 4.5 in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s internal anatomy can be compared to both the mink s and the frog s. The heart, lungs, diaphragm, intestines, and liver were all visible and located around the same area that the frog s and the mink s were. The pancreas was found behind the intestines and liver, and Mr. Wilson confirmed the find (Wilson). Again, it s internal anatomy was similar to the other animals observed. As stated before, dissections can help us discover the truth about our Creator and show us the fallacies in evolution. The complexity and the uniformity found in all three of the animals observed could not have happened by chance. The only answer is that there was an Intelligent Designer. The differences found can be testaments to an Intelligent Designer as well. God designed all of the internal organs to be sized so that the animal could function properly. If the liver in the mouse and the liver in the mink were switched, neither would live because they need an organ made for them to function. Again, dissections can point us to an Intelligent Designer. Through the mink, frog, and mouse, much can be learned about comparative anatomy, how it applies to us, and our Creator Who desires a deep relationship with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Customary Law and the Status of Indigenous Australian s Essay It is important to always show respect towards the indigenous, acknowledge their laws, their practices and their customs further paying respects to the original custodians of the land. This however does not mean that recognition of aboriginal customary law is essential to improving the status (social position) of indigenous Australians; on the contrary it poses more problems than solutions. Although law is seen as the fabric of existence and intrinsic to living, it is impossible to judge one legal system in terms of another. As such, while there are many positive aspects of aboriginal customary law, which is merely just different and in no means (worse) or (better) than English common law, its enforcement is not essential to improving the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, the ability to determine which laws are in affect with which Indigenous and non indigenous Australian s becomes limited and the issue falls to public disapproval. Due to the unwritten nature of aboriginal customary law confusion would arise as to who must/can abide by certain customary laws and punishments for those who disobey. An injustice would then occur when distinguishing which indigenous Australian s receive the blanket of customary law and whether or not it extends to half casts and if so, to whom does it extend. This general confusion would create not only laws that are un easy to follow but would also create many general misinterpretations of the law and could lead to further racism attitudes. Said racism attitudes would ignite when scrutiny over punishments and who receives them arises while people strive for equality and argue over the degree of fairness received. This scrutiny not only hinders the status of indigenous Australian s rather than improving it, but can also lead to future hostilities and class/status debates again creating the possibility of a negative impact. There are various other remedies that could be implemented in order to improve the status of Indigenous Australia s especially with the flexible common law structure, some of which have already been ... • 4. Research Questions, Objectives and Hypothesis Research objectives are the goals of the research study. Research objectives specify the reason researchers are conducting research. For example, researchers may want to better understand the difference in pain scale results among subjects with a diagnosis of moderate traumatic brain injury. In this case the research objective would cause researchers to take steps to conduct scientific analysis to determine the variations in pain experienced between a group of individuals without a diagnosis of TBI and a group of individuals with TBI. The research objective is to determine if there is a difference in perceived pain levels among patients with a diagnosis of moderate traumatic brain injury as compared with individuals without a diagnosis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This question guides the course of the research study and guides researchers in setting up the study effectively and accurately. It is important, throughout the course of research, to ensure that additional questions do not cloud the initial research question (Farrugia et al. 2010). This requires a focus on the original research question and the ability of researchers to set aside additional questions that may arise for later research studies. A research hypothesis or alternative hypothesis is the hypothesis which researchers want to support that predicts a significant difference exists between the two groups being compared (Jackson 2011). For further description, Farrugia et al. describes the research hypothesis a hypothesis developed from the research question and then the main elements of the study sampling strategy, intervention (if applicable), comparison and outcome variables are summarized in a form that establishes the basis for testing, statistical and ultimately clinical significance (Farrugia et al. 2010). The research hypothesis differs from the null hypothesis and sets the course of the study, the study details and types of measures used during the study. Jackson provides an example of a research hypothesis being derived from an initial research objective when a researcher wants to illustrate that children who attend educationally based after school programs have higher IQ scores compared ... Based on my week, I spend the bulk of my time on school associated activities. This was not a surprise to me, what I was surprised by was the small amounts of time that I devote to my religion. Although I attend seminary, read my scriptures, and pray everyday, the accumulative time of all on these activities adds to just over an hour a day. I am quite aware of how I spend my time, it is very unusual for me to lay around and waste time of useless tasks. 2. Based on my week, I can only largely identify two main values from exercise #1: knowledge and service. This makes sense because I spend 32 hours sitting in class a week. This doesn t include time spent on homework or other corresponding activities. Something that did not make too large of an appearance was my spirituality. I will admit that my scripture studies and other related activities were extremely diminished this week. But it is to be expected that my religion isn t quite as evident within my daily schedule because it isn t practical to spend over 4 hours a day reading scriptures, there simply isn t enough time. Conflict Is An Inevitable Element Of Life We All Go Through Conflict is an inevitable element of life; we all go through conflict in every ramification of our life: in relationships, family of origin and even workplaces. What is conflict? Interpersonal conflict can be defined as an expressed struggle between two or more interdependent parties who perceive incompatible goals, scarce resources, and interference from others in achieving their goals (Wilmot an, 2011, pg.11). It is important to note that conflict is not always bad and it can range from a mild disagreement to outright war between two parties. In this paper, I will analyze my conflict situation using some conflict resolution concepts and also substantiate insights on how my conflict could have been better handled. I am also not ... At the meeting the next Monday, one item at the agenda was to give constructive feedback about the event and all we got from Priscila was outright negative feedbacks ranging from the setup to the duties assigned. After that meeting she started giving an attitude to all the executives and also giving excuses for not coming to the council s weekly meetings. After many weeks of negative attitudes and excuses, she resigned from her executive position and sent an email to the co chairs to affect that change. The issue within this conflict is based on the question of who should welcome the audience to the event. I wanted to welcome the audience to the event because I had been assigned that duty as agreed upon in the previous meeting while Priscila wanted to do the welcome or introductions because it fit into her duty as moderator. Interpersonal conflict arises either because people want different things or they want the same things. With regards to my conflict with Priscila, we both wanted to assume the position of welcoming people to the event. Priscila and I belong to the same student advisory council where we volunteer our time as council executives. • 7. Police Shootings And Its Effects On The United States Research Paper Throughout the last two years there have been many police involved shootings where they have killed someone. Some say the cops where right and others say they were wrong in the situation. Are the police right in using deadly force instead of trying a different situation? When is it ok for police to use deadly force and are they right in doing so? In the past two years there have been multiple police shootings, which have been the main topic with police. Forensics later came out to support officers Wilsons statement that Brown had in fact charged at the officer and attempted to take Wilsons gun. It also proved that Brown did not have his hands up like the media had initially stated, which caused mass frenzy and a huge protest that led to chants of hands up don t shoot and black lives matter (Hitchcock). Now people start to look at other facts how he didn t have a weapon on him at the time of the shooting and say that they didn t have to shoot and kill him. You do not need a gun or knife to be a danger to another person; you always have two weapons, which are your hands. Police shoot to kill they do not shoot to disarm (Miller) because you can still be a threat. It doesn t mean that you still cannot kill someone who is a lot smaller than you without having a gun. Black lives matter has become a major group protesting all over major cities in the United States at the hands of Rev Al Sharpton. They have started many protest and campaigns to try and change laws in which police are aloud to use deadly force when trying to arrest a suspect. After all this was just starting to settle down another police involved killing happened in New York to an Eric Garner. • 8. Carpe Diem In To His Coy Mistress By Andrew Marvell The poem To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell, speaks to his coy mistress about how time is rapidly passing and he wishes her to reciprocate his feelings along with sexual desires. In this poem I feel like Marvell is also talking to the reader and encouraging them to act upon their desires. Ultimately live life to the fullest because time is running out. This poem is all about Carpe Diem with a satirical aspect on love. Essentially Marvell is trying to get this mistress to sleep with him. He wants her to abandon her false modesty and give in to his requests, so that all his problems can be fixed with sex. In lines 1 20 Marvell starts out talking about how ideally, he would spend eternity loving her before having sex with her. Verbs like sit, think, and walk are associated with slowing down but they are used to show they have no time, We would sit down, and think which way to walk, and pass our long love s day. (Marvell, To His Coy Mistress, 3 4) So, he would love her, but they don t have time. There is an aspect of exaggeration via exoticism seen in Ganges vs Humbler. She is by the Ganges with rubies while he is by the Humbler complaining. I think this really hints at the reality of what he is trying to get at because rubies represent talismans that are supposed to preserve virginity (Mays, pg 765, footnote 7). There is a controlling aspect of the speaker where he then again states he would wait if there was the time. Throughout the stanza the passion grows and he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wedding Industry Strategic Analysis Project Overview of the Wedding Industry The wedding industry is a large industry in terms of dollars, but tracking where that money is spent is more difficult for several reasons. First, it is an industry that is made up of multiple smaller enterprises like caterers, wedding consultants, dresses, various beauty suppliers (hair, makeup), photographers, favors/bridesmaids gifts, music, honeymoon related, etc. While the industry as a whole represents a lot of money, each of the component parts is much smaller some smaller than others. Rivalry Among Existing Firms High Medium Low In wedding industry the rivalry among existing firms is considered medium. There are many venues, but they vary by size, style, location, etc. So, in any given time and location, there are two or four similar places that compete in the given location, time, style, and size. Some are doing exclusively weddings; others expend their services to corporate events, birthdays, concerts, and other outings. There are not that many historic mansions that offer wedding receptions, but they compete with hotels, clubs, museums, restaurants, and other venues. 2. Treat of New Entrants High Medium Low The treat of new entrants is not very high but is not low either. One needs to have money to start this business in addition to the permits and licenses. For example, the new competitor (in the case of Historic Mansion Events Venue) will have to find a Historic Mansion, sometimes has to do full renovation (around $3Million), do landscaping (around $50K), install the commercial kitchen and provide the in house catering and also implement an extensive and costly marketing ... Tolson, motivates the students to join their school s first debate team. The team made it all the way up to compete with Harvard in the national championship, furthermore, Harvard was known as the best. The debate team was a team of four students, three boys and one girl. Therefore, they should keep their minds, especially being young and on the debate team (Washington, Black, Forte, Roth, Winfrey, Eisele Porro, 2008). Denzel Washington was graphic and serious while he was telling the students about his father. However, I believe he had thought them a good lesson in the dialogue. I believe the moral of the dialogue is to keep your mind regardless of what may happened in your life. Because if someone control your mind they basically control your life, for example, the slaves. Nevertheless, Denzel Washington used intercultural communication ethics which I think was good. However, in another scene, Denzel Washington employs Public discourse ethics. Public discourse ethics protects and promotes a place of conversation for diversity of ideas and persons (Arnett, Fritz, Janie Bell, 2008). Moreover, Denzel Washington was in a secret and private barn with approximately fifty five other men, they were African Americans, Hispanics as well as Caucasian. The book was acknowledged as a New York Times Bestseller and was created into a movie in 2008, that sold 247.8 million box office tickets. Marley and Me was a heart touching, biographical story about a couple who decided to buy a yellow labrador retriever puppy, with John Grogan as the narrator. He describes his life with his wife, puppy and children up until the death of Marley and the lessons that Marley taught along the way. John Grogan described this by stating, Like any relationship, this one has it s cost. The author used the word cost to allude to the numerous pillows Marley shredded, scream doors he busted through and cages he ripped apart, along with the many other disasters he caused. The costs balance with the good things Marley had to provide, meaning although he was a dog with many problems, he had good qualities also that made up for his lack of obedience. The Paparazzi The paparazzi are possibly the most despised media practitioners. (Valdez 6) There are numerous tactics used to one up the paparazzi, including releasing photos of weddings and first photos of their newborn babies to publications before the paparazzi can. Valdez reports, Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas took perhaps some of the most famous and extreme set of measures to keep paparazzi out of the picture at their wedding. The security measures cost over $60,000, which included: All of the caterers, help, suppliers and any other vendors associated with the wedding had to sign confidentiality agreements (even the ones that didn t get the job). In the 1990s, women s rights were not generally accepted as human rights and suffered various violations (Bunch, 1990). Despite women s rights have been improved so far in most regions that female have almost equal employment opportunities and enhanced status in society, the issues of female rights need to be considered because they still have inferior positions compared with men in workplace and society due to a lot of factors. The most vital reason for improving women s rights is the perpetuate violations of women s rights in some regions. Certainly, women s positions in society have been enhanced a lot since the public has attached importance to female and their rights. According to Wadesango, Rembe and Chabaya (2011), members of Southern African Development Community (SADC) have taken measures to prohibit traditional practices which are harmful to women. However, lack of capacity, resources and commitment among the implementers make these legislations be pale in protecting female (Wadesango et al, 2011, p.121). Therefore, detrimental cultural practices include female genital mutilation, marriage by abduction, child marriages and virginity testing still bring women physical and mental injuries in ... For FMCGs short term activity is of utmost importance followed by long term solvency and profitability including market value which should be monitored with using financial ratios. LIQUIDITY RATIOS In the consumer goods industry, liquidity ratios are paramount (Tarver, 2017) as they determine the company s immediate revenue generating activities and consequent ability to meet short term liabilities. Furthermore, it is believe that Behn was taking a stand against slavery using experience, change, and the truth. In Amsterdam, the intricacies of these topics are made even more complex by the Clive Linley s inward conflicts. To begin with, McEwan s use of imagery is quite powerful as one is in enveloped into Clive Linley s environment and inward thoughts as he ventures through the mountains. Clive is hoping to find the theme for his final symphony while being surrounded by nature. Linley strives to produce a symphony with the spiritual weight of Beethoven s Ode to joy(McEwan). • 31. Predation Cost of Conspicuous Male Coloration in Collard... Introduction Animal coloration is due to pigmentation found in the skin, feathers, and fur. Pigments are chemical substances produced in animals, which are accountable for coloration in living things. Pigments absorb some wavelengths of light and reflect specific wavelengths of visible light. The visible light that is reflected is what is seen (Biological Pigments 2010). Chromatophores are also important. These are pigment containing cells that are in the deep layers of the skin in animals. Chromatophores can be identified as melanophores (black), erythrophores (red), xanthophores (yellow), or lecophores (white) based on the color of the pigments. Population level studies have helped to explain the constraints that natural selection has on conspicuous coloration. For example, populations of chuckwallas (Sauromalus obesus) that suffered greater rates of predation were more drably colored than those who did not (Kwiatkowski 2003). Even though there is an abundance of evidence that sexual selection and species recognition favor conspicuous coloration, there is little experiential evidence that depict more conspicuous organisms suffer greater predation (Grant 1965; Williams 1977; Andersson 1994; Houde 1997). A limitation of support for a relationship between conspicuousness and predation risk is the way conspicuous colors are categorized. Studies show that the visual systems of different species of animals vary significantly from humans; so what colors seem conspicuous to humans, may not be conspicuous to a predator (Fleishman et al. 1993; Cuthill et. al 2000; Hart 2001b; Marshall 2001). Although it is highly assumed that males are more likely to be preyed upon more frequently than females because of their conspicuous coloration, evidence for this is inconsistent (Andersson 1994; Zuk and Kolluru 1998). • 35. How Did Truman Support The Bombing Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki The Japanese way was to fight to the death, so the only way to defeat the Japanese was to bomb them. With Japan s heavily guarded enemy lines, there was no way that the U.S. would be able to invade them without the tragic loss of numerous soldiers. As a result, Truman gave the Japanese a chance to surrender, but they turned it down, so Truman gave the command to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I support the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki because Japan refused to an unconditional surrender, it would save many allied lives, it would establish U.S. as a dominant power, and end the war. The U.S. viewed the bombings as a necessity because Truman gave the Japanese a chance to surrender when he issued the Potsdam Declaration. In his message, Truman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. World War Part 2 Summary In Part II, Glover discusses the tragic effects of war on the average person s morality. This is done through morally distancing oneself from what events that are considered horrific or tragic. As soldiers and armies slowly distance themselves from close range combat with long range strikes such as missiles and drones, there is more acceptance of what is normally considered impermissible. Glover concludes that the weight of war on the human moral identity breaks it down. It enforces a civilian to go against one the biggest tenants of civilian life which is to do not harm and not kill. By requiring soldiers to kill other humans, they require a dehumanization of soldiers in order to make them more effective as well as skewing their moral compass. Glover shows that events such as Mai Lai and soldiers abusing civilians doesn t stem from a trait, but from the erosion of human morality as conflicting traumatic events force the individual to change their own code. Current literature supports Glover s theory in terms of the damaging effect of war on the human psychology. It has progressed to the point where soldiers experience flashbacks or PTSD from how horrifying the experience was. The effects of war on the individual is well documented and Glover pulls primary source ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 38. George Washington Code Of Honor Essay George Washington towered over men with decorum. Men followed him, not out of fear but out of respect and admiration. Washington was not a loquacious orator, but his silence spoke volumes. When he spoke, briefly but authoritatively, others listened. They knew he meant what he said because of his code of honor both on and off the battlefield. It was this code of honor that made him a successful general and an even more successful President of the United States. On February 22, 1732 (February 11, 1732 in the British defective calendar ), George Washington inconspicuously entered the world in Westmoreland County, Virginia (Alden 2). She introduces a point that had not been explored before in academia, by showing a causal relationship between regional parties and ethnic conflict/secessionism. She displays in her work that political decentralization indirectly leads to ethnic conflict and secessionism. This is not inherent to the structure of a decentralized government, but rather inherent to the political climate that decentralization creates. This is because politically decentralized governments foster regional political parties. She shows through a statistical analysis of 30 countries, that it is the power of regional parties that ultimately increases or decreases ethnic conflict and desires for secession. Brancati begins her analysis by posing the question, what impact does a decentralized government have on ethnic conflict and secessionism? The conventional knowledge on the topic is that political decentralization is believed to reduce ethnic conflict and secessionism in the world today...by bringing the government closer to the people, increasing opportunities to participate in government, and giving groups control over their political, social, and economic affairs. It is a reflection of the deep inner human thoughts and how they viewed the world after World War One during those times. Another example of the great use of lighting is the low key lighting used throughout the film. The low key lighting emphasis the dark, scary nature and environment of the realities of human beings, highlighting the imperfections of society. Thirdly, what was intriguing to see is the relationship between narrative and shadowing, the lighting. In the film, we visually see how the use of shadowing, especially when the man is about to murder someone, we can assume that he will be murdering a person because the use of shadowing highlights the outlining of the man holding a knife in his hand. This helps the narrative because it takes the audience through the storytelling and we can make our own assumptions as to what will happen next after each scene. Fourthly, we also see a major stylistic element shown throughout the film which is the slanted structures of the various buildings, the photographic visuals of the town of Hostenwall. The images are distorted, disorientated and dark. The photographic visuals can play as a representation of how the world is disfigured and imbalanced, representing the reality of human lives after the world war ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
