consistent morning routine
with clear expectations
will help the rest of the school
day run smoothly.
Morning Meeting
• originated from the Responsive Classroom model
• An engaging way to start a day
• Use first 20–25 minutes of class time to check in with
their students
• Students sit in Circle (inner circle and outer circle)
• Use variety of ways to make morning circle
• Teacher and students interact with one another during
four purposeful components
Effectiveness of Morning Meeting
• Helps create a reliable routine.
• Prepares them for the learning ahead.
• Gives students a consistent opportunity to share their
feelings.
• Allows teachers to build strong relationships with their
students.
• Sets students up for success socially and academically.

• Come empty-handed
• Sit in circle, crisscross
• Keep your hands in lap or at your side
• Make space for everyone
• Everyone participate
• Respect one another
• Listen to the speaker
• Raising our hands when we want to talk
• Speak clearly
• Have fun
COVID -19
• Schools around the country are closing indefinitely
while we prioritize the health of our people, the
stability of our healthcare system, and the lives of
those most threatened by COVID-19.
• School administration and teachers are working
carefully to ensure that learning continues from home.
• Teachers can continue to foster their classroom
communities while we are apart.
How to conduct Virtual Morning Meeting
Virtual Greetings
• Funny face greeting
• Wink greeting
• Wave greeting
• Fist bump
• Hand raise
• Virtual Hug
• Air High five
• Raised Hand
Sharing
• Share news more special from home
• Take a photo of themselves and record a short bio.
• Make a video of a living room and describe it.
• Share personal favourite (book, season, food, place)
• Hi-Lo share one high (something positive)and one low
(something negative)
• One-Word each student shares one word to describe
how their day, their week, or how they feel.

• Rose-Thorn and bud each student shares a rose
(something exciting or happy), thorn (something
disappointing or challenging), a bud (something they
are looking forward to)
• Show and tell students shares an object and tells about
its importance
Remember
• It is connection not content.
• It should be short
• Show them that you are happy to see them
• Every student does not get chance to share but keep track
who had turn or not yet
• Spend no more 10 minutes for sharing (student may loose
interest)
• give students an overview of what to expect during their
day of virtual learning or end the meeting.
• Be sure to you control mute and unmuting students
