Buddhist Art, Law, And Manuscript Culture
Buddhist Art, Law, and Manuscript Culture in Dunhuang
The Dunhuang cave temples have preserved evidences of the intense religious, cultural, and artistic
exchanges between the western regions and central China from the fourth to the fourteenth century.
The discovery of manuscripts and paintings there in the early twentieth century has forced scholars to
reconsider the history of Buddhism s development in China. This panel brings together art historians
and scholars working with manuscripts to shed light on the visual and textual representations of
religious experiences in Dunhuang. By analyzing textual and visual materials from the Dunhuang cave
temples, presenters in this panel will discuss various aspects of religious practices in Dunhuang
ranging from dialogues between Buddhism and other religious traditions to issues and challenges
within the Buddhist community in Dunhuang. Specific topics to be discussed include the appearance
of Brahman ascetic figures and artistic shift in the portrait of Buddhas in Dunhuang caves spanning
from Northern Wei to the transition between the late Sui and the early Tang, legal disputes within
Dunhuang nunnery that shed light on the implementation of legal theories outlining procedures to
handle conflicts between religious and secular law in Tang China, and institutions and their staff
associated with the production of Buddhist manuscript in Dunhuang and beyond.
This panel opens with an analysis of the accommodation of non Buddhist

The Outsiders Comparison
Anyone who has had the pleasure of tasting a chocolate bar and a sweetarts can all agree on the fact
that they are both different with a sweet tart you will notice that they are hard and round like a 2d
figure they are a little sour but as well with that sour flavor you will notice they are mostly sweet than
anything. With a chocolate bar a few things that set this candy appart from sweet tarts is that, a
chocolate bar is flat and the bar actually has the brand name Hershey printed on it. Not to mention,
Hershey s milk chocolate is sweet but it s different with the first candy there are multiple flavors in
one box and they are all fruity. There are many different kinds of Hershey s chocolate but, milk

Common Stock And Preferred Stock Essay
First: Equity
Common Stock and Preferred Stock are both methods of purchasing equity in a business entity.
Common stock generally carries voting rights along with it, while preferred shares generally do not.
Preferred shares act like a hybrid security, in between common stock and holding debt. Preferred stock
can (depending on the issue) be converted to common stock and have access to accumulated dividends
and multiple other rights. Preferred stock also has access to dividends and assets in the case of
liquidation before common stock does. Second :Debt
Debt can be purchased from a company in the form of a bond.
A bond is a financial security that represents a promise by a company or government to repay a certain
amount, with interest, to the bondholder.
# Bonds and stocks are both securities, but the major difference between the two is that (capital)
stockholders have an equity stake in the company (i.e., they are owners), whereas, bondholders have a
creditor stake in the company (i.e., they are lenders). Another difference is that bonds usually have a
defined term, or maturity, after which the bond is redeemed, whereas stocks may be outstanding
indefinitely

Essay about Sherman Anti-Trust Act (Constitutional Law)
To: Reader
From:
Re: Sherman Antitrust Act
Facts
John Davison Rockefeller was the founder of Standard Oil Company in 1870 and ran it until he retired
in 1897. Standard Oil gained almost complete control over the oil refining market in the United States
by underselling its competitors. Rockefeller and his associates owned dozens of corporations
operating in just one state.
The Sherman Antitrust Act was enacted on July 2nd, 1890 which prohibits activities that restrict
interstate commerce and competition in the marketplace.
Issue Cal Hockley owns numerous steel mills in 1912. Cal believed that if he was taken to court for
breaking the Sherman Antitrust Act that his lawyers would simply argue that Cal is not in violation ...

Furthermore, the subjectmatters of the combination and the combination itself are not excluded from
the scope of the act as being matters of intrastate commerce and subject to state control.
In Standard Oil Co. v. United States, 221 U.S. 1 (U.S. 1911) Standard oil and 37 other corporations
were alleged to have engaged in conspiring to restrain the trade in petroleum and monopolize the
petroleum industry. The Supreme Court ruled that combining the defendants oil companies stock to be
a restraint of trade and an attempt to monopolize the oil industry and maintain dominance and
therefore a violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act.
Furthermore, in Standard Oil Co., the Supreme Court stated that The term monopoly, ... as used in the
Sherman Act was intended to cover such monopolies or attempts to monopolize as were known to
exist in this country; those which were defined as illegal at common law by the States, when applied
to intrastate commerce. The Supreme Court went on to further state that the principles of the common
law applied to interstate as well as to intrastate commerce.
Analysis In the issue of Cal Hockley s steel mills, it is clear that the courts would find Cal Hockley in
violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act, even though the conduct

Personal Philosophy Of A Head Coach
Have you ever been in a situation where you just want to speak what is on your mind? Assistant
coaches get this awful feeling more times than what they should. In all sports at any level, there are
always going to be the people who help the head coach. These people are known as the assistants. I
find it quite fitting that these individuals are given the title assistant, given the fact that their role is
exactly how one would define this word. Webster s Dictionary would define an assistant as a person
who gives aid to people. To be a good assistant, Roy Williams once said, A good assistant beats their
head coach to the office and leaves after the head coach. Personally, I do not agree that this is an
important attribute of what a quality would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The assistant coaches must work as a middle man between the players and head coach. In addition to
being the middle man , the assistant coach must be available at any for the players and the head coach.
It appears that it is a need for assistants to have balance and safe places to express themselves because
of their role of being a sounding board. When they find their personal safe place they are able to take
care of their own personal emotions. Coach Corbett informed me that there are things that the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes has available for players and head coaches, but nothing for the
assistants. Coach Corbett made a great quote about this dilemma, Who is looking out for those who
are looking out for everyone

Lord of the Flies a Microcosm to Our Society
William Golding s novel Lord of the Flies significantly symbolizes characters, objects and the setting
to represent our world as a whole. Golding uses those symbols to make the island similar to society
and to show the difference between living in a civilised society and savagery. The novel takes place on
an island during World War II, this is significant since the isolation forms a sort of civilization and
community, a sort of microcosm to the real world and to human civilization.
Lord of the Flies island is similar to our society in many ways. There are certain objects that link the
island and our society. Firstly William Golding portrays the conch as a symbol for power, order and

Chronic Migraines Essay
It s normal to experience headaches every now and then. However, frequent headaches that occur 15
days or more in a month could be a sign of a chronic headache. This is an umbrella term that
encompasses several types:
 Chronic Migraine
 Chronic tension type headache
 New daily persistent headache
 Hemicrania continua
Although similar in scope, these headaches have symptoms that differentiate themselves from one
another. Chronic migraines are the most common type of headache. This type often occurs in people
with a history of episodic migraines. The symptoms include a severe, throbbing pain that affects one
or both sides of the head. Light sensitivity, feelings of nausea and possibly vomiting are associated
with these symptoms.

Analysis Of Dan Brown s Angels And Demons
The book I choose for this marking period was Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. Dan Brown s
father was a math teacher and his mother was a church organist. This background paved the path
where he developed a fascination with science and religion. These are themes seen in all of his books,
especially this one, where he uses the idea that science and religion are intertwined. I felt that this
story, driven by the theme of science and religion being the same thing, was a refreshing story that
stood out from what I have read recently. It gave me the opportunity to think about the question he
poses from the beginning, Is religion, specifically Christianity, the same as science, just from a
different perspective? Being Christian myself, it made me question several of my ideas and opinions
and forced me to become opened minded to the ideas that Brown gives. After reading this book, I felt
as if I understood why the church has been so against science, and it reinforced my opinion and
whether or not that was the right stance to have. This book reminds us to think open mindedly about
the connection between the church and science, and to never allow ourselves to be so stubborn in our
beliefs to realize the good that can come of either. I also believe that even if a person has no stance on
science and religion, or is indifferent to it, it will still teach them new perspectives to think about.
The story involves Robert Langdon, a professor of religious iconology and symbology at

Scrooge Symbolism
Based on what I read Scrooge is a grumpy person with no feeling for the people around him. Dickens
doesn t like this and says it is a big no no is his world. Scrooge spends money on only what he needs
to get by. He doesn t get why Christmas is such a big deal, even though everyone else is celebrating it
with cheer. In fact, he hates the Christmas cheer and expresses his feelings. He despises poor people
and say that they should go to jail. He does not have any joy, but he s not depressed. Scrooge almost
wants to damage people s day and does it often. The text says he is a hard worker as it states he was a
tight fisted hand at the grind stone, Scrooge! A squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching,
covetous, old sinner! He can also really stand the elements, the cold., the hot, the rain, the snow, the...
anything. Not only can he withstand the elements, but based on the information from the text I
inferred that he is the elements, resilient and unforgiving.
The text explicitly states that the Spirit is the Ghost of Christmas Past (Scrooge s past), even the spirit
quotes I am the Ghost of Christmas Past in it conversation with Scrooge. First they went to Scrooge s
depressed and disheartened childhood. Immediately after seeing himself, he sobs with bad memories.
Scrooge says I wish ... but it s too late now , the spirit asks his what is the matter , Scrooge says,
Nothing. There was a boy singing a Christmas Carol at my door last night. I should like to have given
him something that s all . This is Scrooge s first time thinking about doing something favorable, after
thinking about his childhood.
Then they go to another one of Scrooge s Christmas breaks spent at school, but in this instance, his
little sister comes to bring him home, she said that their dad finally let little Ebenezer come home for
good. Lastly Scrooge remembers the time he had partied one Christmas and for a few bucks they
made the whole neighborhood of kids happy. Scrooge s fiancee says that he cares too much about
money and not her so she breaks up with him. The ghost then disappears through the floor. Scrooge
wakes up and go to the other room to find lots food. He finds The Ghost of Christmas Present and

Student Loan Debt And Consumer Choice
Student Loan Debt and Consumer Choice In today s society, student loans are haunting the lives of
millions of postgraduates all over the United States. Students who have carelessly taken out loans and
those in serious need of financial aid for their college education are now burdened with thousands of
dollars worth of debt. As the student debt average continues to increase in our nation, the budgets of
postgraduates begin to dwindle and the amount of defaults grow dramatically. With the large student
debts our young adults are now dealt with, recent graduates are forced to compromise certain aspects
of their quality and standard of living after graduation. Our nation s recent graduate s budgets are
being directly affected by the student loan debt and interest accrued during and after their college
careers. Student loans are a form of financial aid given by federal and private organizations designed
to help fund the student s tuition, housing, books, and other expenses. Student loans are primarily
given to those who are in most need of financial assistance. The interest rates that accompany these
loans are relatively lower than those of credit cards, housing and auto loans, because these loans were
meant to be quickly and easily paid off. With federal interest rates fixed at as low as five percent and
private loan interest rates decreasing, it comes to question: why is the amount of student loan debt in
our nation increasing so rapidly? And with the amount of student loan

Matterhorn Descriptive Writing
I let the curled shavings fall to the frozen, inky ground, creating a heap of milky white scraps. My
blade easily carves through the wood, like a knife going through soft butter. A wolf starts howling in
the woods, and distorts my concentration, the blade jams into my finger.
Verdammt! I swear under my breath. A carmine liquid seeps out of my wound. I suck on my finger in
order to stop the profusive bleeding. I sigh and gaze across the horizon. A cascade of fiery red and
flamboyant orange spills out from the sides of the Matterhorn as the sun sinks leisurely below the ice
kissed landscape. I raise to my feet and stretch out my cramped legs. I am standing on a small ledge
which juts out from the side of the mountain. It has recently snowed so the snow is powdery and deep.
To my right, about ten feet below is a forest and to my left there is a massive skiing area. The view is
immense, with a perfect view of the Matterhorn s snow capped north side. At the bottom of the
mountain lays Zermatt. The mountain is barren, with no skiers left, most locals don t ski for pleasure
during the week, and tourists try to get home before dark. It s just me on this oasis of the Alps. An
arctic wind sweeps throughout the land, and snow is billowed up into the air like a freezing tornado.
The sun is now hidden and the shimmering stars have come out. I stoop down to retrieve my scraps
and carving which I then cram into my thin wool coat. I latch on my ski s, wrap my fingers around my

College Dropout Research
An increment in college drop out rates with the inability to do well in courses has been on the
receiving end of many theories as well as research experiments. In Implicit Theories of Intelligence
Predict Achievement Across an Adolescent Transition Blackwell, Trzeniewski, Dweck (2007) state
that some people believe that intelligence is more of an entity while others think of it as incremental .
In 1997 just over 54 percent of students who enrolled in 4 year colleges earned their degree six years
later, even fewer Hispanics in addition of blacks according to some of the latest government figures.
Bowen, President of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, has heightened his consideration on this
matter with his data driven studies on college athletes, college access and affirmative action for the
poor that has kindled debate nationwide in recent years. Patrick Callan, President, of the National

Robert E Lee Military Genius
General Robert E. Lee was the leading general for the confederate army during the civil war and a
revered heroic figure in the South now and then. Born in Stratford, Virginia Lee was head of his home

General Lee is divided some have a deep respect for his military brilliance while others question some
of his tactics. General Lee was a very smart man not just in military terms but just in general he was
quite brilliant. When given the reigns to the confederate forces on the Virginia peninsula he renamed it

General Lee had vital victories against the Potomac army until reaching Gettysburg in 1863, despite
being undermanned and poorly supplied. One example of General Lee being undermanned is during
his victory at Chancellorsville where Lee was forced to divide his army three times in the face of the
enemy while being outnumbered two to one (Reid 150). This passage taken from Reid s book gives a
good demonstration as to what General Lee had to face in multiple crucial battles during the war. Lee
could muster up only half the size of Hooker s 65,000 men (Reid 152), two to one odds are extremely
difficult to fight against in any situation but especially fighting with less than standard supplied
soldiers. Even with the odds Lee believed that small armies could beat big ones (Reid 18) and Lee had
tremendous confidence in his troops and his strategy. One of the main reason this battle was won by
the confederates is the stellar flanking techniques drawn up by General Lee. This sizable victory over
the union forces, commanded by Major General Joseph Hooker, was arguably the biggest of General
Lee s military career. Even this victory at Chancellorsville being such an overwhelming victory for the
South it came at the cost of Stonewall Jackson s mortal injury. With this crucial loss of Stonewall, who
was an irreplaceable lieutenant to General Lee, the Southern cause was soon to come

Carmen Essay
Themes of Seduction and Corruption in Carmen
Si je t aime; prends garde Ă  toi! This ending line from one of the most famous arias in music history,
The Habanera, is one of its most literal. It translates to if you love me, guard yourself! , a fitting
exclamation from the titular character Carmen. She has often been described as a femme fatale, a
mysterious and seductive woman whose charms ensnare her lovers, though others urge audiences to
view Carmen as the emotional, vulnerable woman beyond that. In general, Georges Bizet s opera
Carmen has been called one of the most seductive operas of all time, despite being a controversial,
hostily received tragedy during Bizet s time. The opera, based on the novella Carmen by Prosper
Mérimée, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Carmen herself is at once the battlefield, the enemy, and the prize, and José and the rest of the
characters are the ones warring over her. Carmen plays a game, the rules of which she had no part in
writing. The men offer her love, but love here means sexual objectification, loss of individual identity,
and submission to men. In this realm, in fact, all the female characters are subject to the soldier s gaze
as sexual objects on display. Carmen believes she can only be true to her self defined identity through
death. Other sources, however, cite Carmen as a demon, a predatory siren who lures men to their
destruction, an objectification of manipulative, destructive, female sexuality... an animal, a devil .
Women, in general, were often portrayed as an enemy in different artistic realms during this time. In
Balzac s Splendeurs et misĂšres des courtisanes, the character Esther, a courtesan who commits suicide,
is identified by Balzac as a Jew and describes her as Oriental, mysterious, pagan, [and] sexually
promiscuous, a diabolical, sadistic serpent, and as a demon without pity. Carmen as a gypsy is
considered disorderly, violent, law breaking, diabolical, and generally uncivilized. (Due to the word

Emirates Airlines Mission Statement
Introduction
The company that I have chosen is Emirates Airline.
The foundation of Emirates Airline started in the offices of Dnata, when in 1978 Mr Maurice Flanagan
became the director and general manager of Dnata.
Dnata is a company offering aircraft ground handling, cargo, travel, and flight catering services across

In 1984 Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Mr Flanagan discussed launching an airline
in Dubai and with just a 10 man team he produced the business plan for the new airline.

Even though Emirates Airlines has had some crisis during their evolution such as the 2001 terrorist

The main reason of avoiding merging and acquisition is mainly because it would lower their flexibility
and future decisions would have been done with outside partners.
I believe that this ambition of looking at the future has brought them even more up in the airlines
markets.
Free Competition
Emirates Airlines have also decided to allow free competition.
This decision has brought benefits for the Airline because the fact of raising competition would mean
raise the standards.
By doing this they have putted them in a great position because I believe that they are the leaders in
continuous innovation and development within the industry.

Double Strand Breaks
On September 12, 1016, Belmont University graciously allowed Dr. Katherine Friedman from
Vanderbilt University to come and talk to a crowd of students about the tendencies of how
deoxyribose double stranded breaks can during cell replication and the elements required to hopefully
repair this ordeal. She began the session by discussing what chromosomes are composed of and how
they are produced, accompanied by visual and statistical representations. Moving on, she touched on
how double strand breaks are a huge threat to a cell s, an organisms, stability. Correspondingly, she
described what can cause these breaks; chemical factors, as well as inner cell disruptions during
replication that are sometimes hard to remedy. However, she also stated that this breaks can occur on

Personal Strategic Plan For A Business Organization
The purpose of this paper would be a personal strategic plan for myself in which visualizes me as a
business organization, or as You, Inc. Therefore, to create a personal strategy one must examine a
mission statement, vision statement, and understand the environmental scan to identify external
opportunities and threats; in which, an individual or organization gathers information about the
market, society, its competitors, and oneself. A mission statement defines an individual purpose for
achieving certain goals. An individual mission statement should define their primary attributes to
employers, employees, or clients to identify the products and services they have to offer in a particular
field. A vision statement is long term goals that give an individual the formation that allows them a
competitive advantage in an organization or particular market. My personal vision statement is to seek
employment in the manufacturing sector as operations manager in logistics. Once this information is
achieved the individual or business can take the necessary steps to identify signs (Business Dictionary,
2015) of pressure and prospects that may influence their current and future course of action through
tools such as P.E.S.T (Political, Economic, Social and Technological) and through S.W.O.T. (Strength,
Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) analysis (QuickMBA, 2010).

Ancient Mariner Mistakes
The gift of youth always comes with a price, and that price is the reality of mistakes and it must be
paid. As we age and become more experienced this reality is an obvious part of life that we all must
live with. The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, written by Samuel Coleridge, embodies the idea of a life
full of mistakes, and paying for them. After killing the albatross the Mariner find himself a victim of
his own actions as the people around him begin to suffer. With time the Mariner begins to see a beauty
about life, and discovers he has found a respect for life and animals. This realization leads the the
Mariner coming to terms with his mistakes, and the results is his freedom. The main message from the
poem is that, as Walt Disney would say, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Mariner s consequence for his past actions are to continuously tell his story to whomever he
wishes. This sentence tells the reader that mistakes can be forgiven, but never forgotten. The Mariner
forgave himself, moved on, and now he is to share his wisdom with others to save them from learning
the hard way as he did. One writer once said that, ...we seem to forget that when we make mistakes,
we grow. An atmosphere of growth is integral to happiness. So create happiness by seeing mistakes as
true growth opportunities, (Kelly). The act of sharing his knowledge with others opens up an
opportunity for him because, he has the choice of whom to share with, and he chooses to share with
the youth. In the final pages of the poem the Mariner finishes his tale and leaves the the boy to ponder
what had just happened. The boy is described to walk, like one that hath been stunned and is sense of
forlorn: a sadder and a wiser man, he rose the morrow morn, (lines 622 625, p.845). The wisdom that
the older man had shared with the boy forced him mind to think of what was truly relevant in life,
what was real. A professor once gave a demonstration to his class and reflected after, If you spend all
your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to

Alienation In The Martian Chronicles
The feeling of alienation is one that no humans want to experience. In Ray Bradbury s The Martian
Chronicles, Bradbury allows the reader to grasp a greater understanding of what alienation is like by
bringing the story to a world of actual aliens. By doing so, Bradbury sets a wall between the
extraterrestrial setting of the book and humanity s reality on earth. He also creates a sense of
separation by never allowing the story s characters to live too far throughout the book. This tactic
keeps the reader from gaining a connection between the characters. The state of being alienated is
defined as being withdrawn. The way Bradbury writes this book allows the reader to not only read
about alienation, but to truly understand it too. Bradbury begins ... Show more content on

In today s society, the divorce rate is about 50%. The loss of love in a relationship is shown in The
Martian Chronicles. The characters Mr. and Mrs. K struggle to keep their relationship alive. They
barely talk and it rare for them to go out into town. When Mr. K finally does request that him and his
wife go into town with their odd, birdlike pets, Mrs. K finds that she doesn t want too. Love has to be
tended to throughout a relationship, not just in minimal moments. This is something that is true from
Earth to Mars. Love is a main topic in this book. There are examples of a loveless marriage, loss of a
love one, wanting to meet new love, and the pain of losing a loved one. Love is an emotion that all
humans can sympathize with, whether is be because of a partner or family member (Anna Minore).
When lines like I thought: Well, here I am, the only lady on Mars, and here is the only man, and,
well... (Bradbury 148) are said, the yearning for love is prominent even among characters from
another planet. Bradbury shows that there are some traits that carry through no matter the type of life
form. Animals feel love, humans feel love, so why should martians not experience the same emotion?
Similarities aside, though the need to alienate still shines

The Role Of Voodoo In Haiti
Haiti s background in religion stems from tribal rituals in voodoo and forced roman Catholicism from
the slave trade. When the different tribes from Africa were brought to Haiti as slaves, the tribes
stronger religious believes combined and voodoo was practiced. This voodoo played a huge role in
their rebellion as they prayed and made sacrifices to their Gods for strength. Voodoo was a key part of
Haitian life from the beginning of the formation of the country, and still plays a huge role today as
voodoo is the number on practiced religion in Haiti. Voodoo is a religion of violence is wickedness

The definition of voodoo according to Mariam Webster is, a black religious cult practiced in the
Caribbean and the southern US, combining elements of Roman Catholic ritual with traditional African
magical and religious rites, and characterized by sorcery and spirit possession. (Webster) This practice
of dark magic and possession impacts their morality corrupting its nature. Much of Haiti s violence is
a result of these practices. The moral standard for the people of Haiti is not that of Gods standard. The
Bible is very clear and direct on the matter of dark magic in Revelation 21:8, it says, But the cowardly,
the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the
idolaters and all liars they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second
death . (NIV) The punishment is harsh for the wicked but there is hope for the lost found in Acts
26:18, to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so
that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.
There is hope for those in Haiti who have fallen into the wickedness and evil practices of voodoo, but
the number of those people are many. Christians missionaries in Haiti have a short history not having
been in the country for very long. Much of the original Christian influence into the country originated
in Cuba from missionary works that were already established there. Haitians fled to Cuba during the
slavery heard the gospel there, then brought it back to their country. Today Christian missionaries are
in the country to not only help the country spiritually, but also address the country need for physical
help after destruction and

College Essay On Lung Cancer
Lungs are located in the either side of your chest. When you breathe, air goes through your nose,
down your windpipe, and into the lungs where it spreads through tubes called bronchi. Most lung
cancer cells begin in the cells that line these tubes. Lung cancer is the uncontrolled growth of
abnormal cells in one or both lungs (Lungcancer.org). In biology, I learned that a cancer cell is
basically a dead cell. The cancer cell is a failed cell, it doesn t work, or it just doesn t reproduce at all.
Although researchers found that it takes series of mutation to create a lung cancer cell
(Lungcancer.org). Lung cancer takes more lives each year than colon, prostate, ovarian, and breast
cancer combined. That s alot of lives that have been taken by this disease, my grandfather including.
Although he never smoked, doesn t mean you can still can t be able to get lung cancer. People who

A Superstar s Open Contempt
A Superstar s Open Contempt
For various folks, the description of the nature of Jesus prevails as a yielding, meek man that merely
wants people to be morally, loving toward each other; notwithstanding, this analogy surfaces as being
insultingly inadequate. For this man, if you want to call Him a man, shined as a towering superstar and
labored continually to tolerate people s ignorance and stupidity. Throughout the four gospels, from the
Sermon on the Mount (Matt 5 7), to all of His teachings and parables, He does expound on people to
strive to better their brotherly love, ethics, morals, etc., speaking quite compassionately; while
focusing mainly on people s spiritual transformations, becoming born again. (John 3:3) Nevertheless,
looking closer, there occur matters that exhibit disregard and possibly open contempt numerous times
(Matt 10:21, 10:34 38), even towards His own mother (Matt 12:46 50, Mar 3:31 35, John 2:4); in
addition, He demonstrates a temper to the point of killing a barren fig tree (Matt 21:18 21; Mark 11:12
14; 11:20 21).
Moreover, Jesus persists as constantly attacking people for their erroneous beliefs, and other unruly
behaviors; such as the Scribes, (Matt 5:20, 23:14 15), the Pharisees, (Matt 23:25, Luke 11:44); the
Sadducees, (Matt 16:11 12). He discredits Gentiles, and Samaritans (Matt 10:5); people buying and
selling in the temple (Matt 21:12); heathens (Matt 6:7); publicans (Matt 18:17); anyone outside of the
house of Israel (Matt 15:24 26);

Theme Of Beloved By Toni Morrison
Beloved (1987) is a sensitive novel written by Toni Morrison a renowned Afro American author. It
deals with the forgotten era of slavery and the pathos of black slaves. The novel tells a wrenching
story of a black female slave, Sethe, who kills her own daughter to protect her from the horrors of
slavery. Morrison has excelled in creating her female characters. Her novels show a deep sense of
bonding between the female characters. In Beloved the female bonding and the multiple layer of
meaning in their relationship makes the story emotionally appealing and according to Barbara
Schapira in Contemporary Literature it is the story that, penetrates perhaps more deeply than any
historical or psychological study could, the unconscious emotional and psychic consequences of
slavery. (194). The story touches the social, psychological, philosophical and supernatural elements of
human life.
Toni Morrison is a famous Nobel Prize and Pulitzer Prize winning American novelist, editor and
professor. Her novels are known for her epic themes, vibrant dialogues and richly black characters.
Her best known works are The Bluest Eye (1970), Song of Solomon (1977) and Beloved (1987). She

Supremacy of Eu Law
Supremacy/ Primacy of European Union Law Introduction: State sovereignty and supremacy of
European Union law are traditionally seen as fundamentally opposite in nature. The rights of states to
deal with national issues internally, in compliance with national law, versus the obligation on states to
subordinate national law to Community law. Where it is contained: Historically the EEC treaty
contained no provision dealing with the concept of supremacy of Community law over the national
law of member states. In fact, treaties were generally silent as to the nature of the relationship between
EU law and national law except for a general obligation contained in article 4 (3) TEU which states:

Allowing national law to take precedence over community law would result in a fractious legal
structure of which neither states nor citizens could rely on. The concept of supremacy was at the
forefront of the decision Flaminio Costa v E.N.E.L: just one year after the case in van gend en loos.
The case concerned the creation of E.N.E.L an Italian electricity company by the Italian government
under a law passed in 1962 to nationalise the electricity industry. Costa refused to pay his electricity
bill on the basis that the nationalisation of electricity providers infringed the Italian Constitution and
several provisions of the EC treaty. The ECJ in deciding the case stated that: the precedence of
community law is confirmed by article 189 (now 288) of the treaty, whereby a regulation shall be
binding and directly applicable on all member states. This provision which is subject to no reservation
would be quite meaningless if states could unilaterally nullify its effects by means of a legislative
measure which could prevail over community law The ECJ went further to comment that the transfer
of the member states from their national legal

Sexually Transmitted Disease Thesis Statement
Thesis Statement: Today s society enables and encourages teenagers to engage in sexual activity and
because of this; teens are putting themselves at risk for life changing problems that can be avoided by
remaining sexually inactive. Sexually transmitted diseases, or STD s, are something that everyone is
aware of, but few pay adequate attention to. Teenagers that are having sex far too early are finding out
what STD s are firsthand. Sexually transmitted diseases are becoming more and more common in
teens. The rates are becoming so high that it is alarming. Many teen do not realize the risk that they
are putting themselves at by having sex whether it is with one partner or multiple partners (Immell).

If a teen contracts an STD, they will have to make multiple changes in their life if what disease they
get does not leave them bed ridden in a hospital. The hardest thing for teenagers to understand is that
if they end up contracting an STD, not only are their parents going to be disappointed, but they will
most likely have social problems in school or in public in general. Most teenagers would not
necessarily want to be friends with someone who has an STD because they would be afraid to
somehow get it too. A teen that ended up with an STD would most likely lose a lot in not all of their
friends. An STD is just a giant social burden. Just under half of the teens in the U.S. do not see
themselves at risk for contracting an STD (Henry J. Kaiser...). According to the Henry J. Kaiser
Family Foundation, four million teens get an STD every year in the U.S. This means that four millions
teens have their social lives destroyed each year. According to John D. Hartigan in his article
Distributing Condoms in Schools Encourages Teen Sex, he states that condoms are being distributed
in schools. This basically enables and encourages teenagers to have sex; it is like telling them that it is
okay when it really is not. Hartigan also states that teens are not responsible enough to use condoms
correctly. Some teens do not know how to use or cannot obtain a condom so they decide not to use one
at all (The Facts of

Bee Control Macroeville Research Paper
When there are significant numbers of bees seen in and around your premises, it means that there may
be bee colonies or bee hives somewhere nearby. They are a hazard to your premises especially if there

permanent and the bees very protective of them. Even if you like to do most of the things by yourself,
Bee Control Monroeville is one thing that should preferably be not attempted by you.

The safe location can be even from the window of your premise.
You should wear the standard protective gear to protect yourself from the bee stings. You must
remember that no part of your body is exposed.
During the process of Bee Control Monroeville, you must avoid few methods that can potentially
anger the bees. This is because it would be difficult to control angry bees as they will become wild and
can then sting anyone very badly. Some such methods to be avoided include spraying on the bees or
throwing stones at the bees.
The best alternative method for removing the bees is the smoking method.
One of the key aspects in attempting to remove the bees is the timing. Unless it is an emergency, you
will benefit if you keep certain times in mind. The bees usually sleep early morning and in the
evening. Also, if you look at the life cycle of the bees, then you will observe that the population of the
bees in the beehive is the least in late winter or early in the spring. If you are attempting Bee Control
Monroeville at this time of the day or season, the chances of you getting attacked is the

Ethical Effects Of Albinism
Life is not fair, get used to it, said Bill Gates (2000). Bill is actually true, especially for people who
were born with albinism in Africa. Instead of their sickness, a high number of albinos in Africa are
often tortured by people who do not comprehend about albinism. They treat albinos like just an animal
or a product which is invaluable in the black market. Newman (2016) found that albinism is one of the
genetic diseases that caused by a mutation gene. This gene is the key to create melanin that found in
the color of retinas, hair, and skin. This is why albinos have pale skin, white or blond hair and reddish
eyes. Albino s body is totally sensitivity and fragile. In an unfortunate way, many of witchdoctors in

  • 2. Buddhist Art, Law, And Manuscript Culture Buddhist Art, Law, and Manuscript Culture in Dunhuang The Dunhuang cave temples have preserved evidences of the intense religious, cultural, and artistic exchanges between the western regions and central China from the fourth to the fourteenth century. The discovery of manuscripts and paintings there in the early twentieth century has forced scholars to reconsider the history of Buddhism s development in China. This panel brings together art historians and scholars working with manuscripts to shed light on the visual and textual representations of religious experiences in Dunhuang. By analyzing textual and visual materials from the Dunhuang cave temples, presenters in this panel will discuss various aspects of religious practices in Dunhuang ranging from dialogues between Buddhism and other religious traditions to issues and challenges within the Buddhist community in Dunhuang. Specific topics to be discussed include the appearance of Brahman ascetic figures and artistic shift in the portrait of Buddhas in Dunhuang caves spanning from Northern Wei to the transition between the late Sui and the early Tang, legal disputes within Dunhuang nunnery that shed light on the implementation of legal theories outlining procedures to handle conflicts between religious and secular law in Tang China, and institutions and their staff associated with the production of Buddhist manuscript in Dunhuang and beyond. • 4. Common Stock And Preferred Stock Essay First: Equity Common Stock and Preferred Stock are both methods of purchasing equity in a business entity. Common stock generally carries voting rights along with it, while preferred shares generally do not. Preferred shares act like a hybrid security, in between common stock and holding debt. Preferred stock can (depending on the issue) be converted to common stock and have access to accumulated dividends and multiple other rights. Preferred stock also has access to dividends and assets in the case of liquidation before common stock does. Second :Debt Debt can be purchased from a company in the form of a bond. A bond is a financial security that represents a promise by a company or government to repay a certain amount, with interest, to the bondholder. # Bonds and stocks are both securities, but the major difference between the two is that (capital) stockholders have an equity stake in the company (i.e., they are owners), whereas, bondholders have a creditor stake in the company (i.e., they are lenders). Another difference is that bonds usually have a defined term, or maturity, after which the bond is redeemed, whereas stocks may be outstanding indefinitely Source: Boundless. • 6. Personal Philosophy Of A Head Coach Have you ever been in a situation where you just want to speak what is on your mind? Assistant coaches get this awful feeling more times than what they should. In all sports at any level, there are always going to be the people who help the head coach. These people are known as the assistants. I find it quite fitting that these individuals are given the title assistant, given the fact that their role is exactly how one would define this word. Webster s Dictionary would define an assistant as a person who gives aid to people. To be a good assistant, Roy Williams once said, A good assistant beats their head coach to the office and leaves after the head coach. The assistant coaches must work as a middle man between the players and head coach. In addition to being the middle man , the assistant coach must be available at any for the players and the head coach. It appears that it is a need for assistants to have balance and safe places to express themselves because of their role of being a sounding board. When they find their personal safe place they are able to take care of their own personal emotions. Coach Corbett informed me that there are things that the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has available for players and head coaches, but nothing for the assistants. Golding uses those symbols to make the island similar to society and to show the difference between living in a civilised society and savagery. The novel takes place on an island during World War II, this is significant since the isolation forms a sort of civilization and community, a sort of microcosm to the real world and to human civilization. • 10. Analysis Of Dan Brown s Angels And Demons The book I choose for this marking period was Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. Dan Brown s father was a math teacher and his mother was a church organist. This background paved the path where he developed a fascination with science and religion. These are themes seen in all of his books, especially this one, where he uses the idea that science and religion are intertwined. I felt that this story, driven by the theme of science and religion being the same thing, was a refreshing story that stood out from what I have read recently. It gave me the opportunity to think about the question he poses from the beginning, Is religion, specifically Christianity, the same as science, just from a different perspective? Being Christian myself, it made me question several of my ideas and opinions and forced me to become opened minded to the ideas that Brown gives. After reading this book, I felt as if I understood why the church has been so against science, and it reinforced my opinion and whether or not that was the right stance to have. This book reminds us to think open mindedly about the connection between the church and science, and to never allow ourselves to be so stubborn in our beliefs to realize the good that can come of either. I also believe that even if a person has no stance on science and religion, or is indifferent to it, it will still teach them new perspectives to think about. The story involves Robert Langdon, a professor of religious iconology and symbology at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Scrooge Symbolism Based on what I read Scrooge is a grumpy person with no feeling for the people around him. Dickens doesn t like this and says it is a big no no is his world. Scrooge spends money on only what he needs to get by. He doesn t get why Christmas is such a big deal, even though everyone else is celebrating it with cheer. In fact, he hates the Christmas cheer and expresses his feelings. He despises poor people and say that they should go to jail. He does not have any joy, but he s not depressed. Scrooge almost wants to damage people s day and does it often. The text says he is a hard worker as it states he was a tight fisted hand at the grind stone, Scrooge! A squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous, old sinner! He can also really stand the elements, the cold., the hot, the rain, the snow, the... anything. Not only can he withstand the elements, but based on the information from the text I inferred that he is the elements, resilient and unforgiving. The text explicitly states that the Spirit is the Ghost of Christmas Past (Scrooge s past), even the spirit quotes I am the Ghost of Christmas Past in it conversation with Scrooge. First they went to Scrooge s depressed and disheartened childhood. Immediately after seeing himself, he sobs with bad memories. Scrooge says I wish ... but it s too late now , the spirit asks his what is the matter , Scrooge says, Nothing. There was a boy singing a Christmas Carol at my door last night. I should like to have given him something that s all . This is Scrooge s first time thinking about doing something favorable, after thinking about his childhood. Then they go to another one of Scrooge s Christmas breaks spent at school, but in this instance, his little sister comes to bring him home, she said that their dad finally let little Ebenezer come home for good. Lastly Scrooge remembers the time he had partied one Christmas and for a few bucks they made the whole neighborhood of kids happy. • 13. Student Loan Debt And Consumer Choice Student Loan Debt and Consumer Choice In today s society, student loans are haunting the lives of millions of postgraduates all over the United States. Students who have carelessly taken out loans and those in serious need of financial aid for their college education are now burdened with thousands of dollars worth of debt. As the student debt average continues to increase in our nation, the budgets of postgraduates begin to dwindle and the amount of defaults grow dramatically. With the large student debts our young adults are now dealt with, recent graduates are forced to compromise certain aspects of their quality and standard of living after graduation. Our nation s recent graduate s budgets are being directly affected by the student loan debt and interest accrued during and after their college careers. Student loans are a form of financial aid given by federal and private organizations designed to help fund the student s tuition, housing, books, and other expenses. Student loans are primarily given to those who are in most need of financial assistance. The interest rates that accompany these loans are relatively lower than those of credit cards, housing and auto loans, because these loans were meant to be quickly and easily paid off. With federal interest rates fixed at as low as five percent and private loan interest rates decreasing, it comes to question: why is the amount of student loan debt in our nation increasing so rapidly? And with the amount of student loan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My blade easily carves through the wood, like a knife going through soft butter. A wolf starts howling in the woods, and distorts my concentration, the blade jams into my finger. Verdammt! I swear under my breath. A carmine liquid seeps out of my wound. I suck on my finger in order to stop the profusive bleeding. I sigh and gaze across the horizon. A cascade of fiery red and flamboyant orange spills out from the sides of the Matterhorn as the sun sinks leisurely below the ice kissed landscape. I raise to my feet and stretch out my cramped legs. I am standing on a small ledge which juts out from the side of the mountain. It has recently snowed so the snow is powdery and deep. To my right, about ten feet below is a forest and to my left there is a massive skiing area. The view is immense, with a perfect view of the Matterhorn s snow capped north side. At the bottom of the mountain lays Zermatt. The mountain is barren, with no skiers left, most locals don t ski for pleasure during the week, and tourists try to get home before dark. It s just me on this oasis of the Alps. An arctic wind sweeps throughout the land, and snow is billowed up into the air like a freezing tornado. General Lee had vital victories against the Potomac army until reaching Gettysburg in 1863, despite being undermanned and poorly supplied. One example of General Lee being undermanned is during his victory at Chancellorsville where Lee was forced to divide his army three times in the face of the enemy while being outnumbered two to one (Reid 150). This passage taken from Reid s book gives a good demonstration as to what General Lee had to face in multiple crucial battles during the war. Lee could muster up only half the size of Hooker s 65,000 men (Reid 152), two to one odds are extremely difficult to fight against in any situation but especially fighting with less than standard supplied soldiers. Even with the odds Lee believed that small armies could beat big ones (Reid 18) and Lee had tremendous confidence in his troops and his strategy. One of the main reason this battle was won by the confederates is the stellar flanking techniques drawn up by General Lee. This sizable victory over the union forces, commanded by Major General Joseph Hooker, was arguably the biggest of General Lee s military career. In this realm, in fact, all the female characters are subject to the soldier s gaze as sexual objects on display. Carmen believes she can only be true to her self defined identity through death. Other sources, however, cite Carmen as a demon, a predatory siren who lures men to their destruction, an objectification of manipulative, destructive, female sexuality... an animal, a devil .
