Mussolini Rise to Power
Mussolini
Benito Mussolini appears to stride through 20th century Italian history like a buffoon, a fascist dictator
whose ludicrous posing was dwarfed by the incalculably more sinister nature of Adolf Hitler s Nazi
regime.
Young socialist
Mussolini was born in 1883. As a young man, he was a rousing orator, a tireless journalist and a
socialist. In 1912, after years of hack journalism and self promotion, he was appointed editor of the
Socialist Party newspaper Avanti!, preaching left wing revolution.
But, when the First World War broke out, and Mussolini called for Italy to ally itself with France, he
was expelled from the party, whose policy was neutrality. When Italy joined the war, Mussolini fought
in the army, then after peace in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was no systematic discrimination against Jews; and political opponents were imprisoned or
exiled to remote regions of Italy rather than thrown into concentration camps.
Fatal attraction
In 1933, Hitler came to power in Germany. Although Mussolini was the senior Fascist, he soon
recognised Hitler as the dominant figure on the European stage. Reversing his earlier policies, and
despite the fact that he had once had a Jewish mistress, Mussolini introduced anti Semitic legislation.
In 1935, Mussolini tried to demonstrate Italy s power by invading Abyssinia (now Ethiopia). The
following year, Italy joined Germany in providing military support to General Franco s Nationalists in
the Spanish Civil War, while Hitler supported Mussolini s fantasies about a new Italian empire. In
1940, Italy entered the Second World War on Germany s side.
Mismanaged, ill equipped and worn down by years of fighting in Abyssinia and Spain, Italian forces
were routed in Greece and got bogged down in North Africa. In the spring of 1943, they were driven
out of Africa; on 10 July, Allied forces landed in Sicily. Soon after, Mussolini was deposed by the
Fascist Grand Council and the king. In September, Italy signed an armistice with the Allies, and
Mussolini was arrested and held in a remote hotel in the Apennines.
But Hitler couldn t let Italy fall without a fight: the Germans invaded the country, Mussolini was

Immanuel Kant s Uninable Peace
In 1795, Immanuel Kant a German philosopher wrote an essay titled perpetual peace: a philosophical
sketch where he lays down rubrics that define the general nature of states as political entities and how
state structures and external policies should be reformed to ensure lasting peace. Over a century later,
the proposal he made in this essay have been linked to traits and theories in modern day society like
the democratic peace theory that states that democratic nations don t fight one another, and the
cosmopolitan theory which is used to explain the unprecedented rise in regional organizations. So far,
the EU is considered as the most successful regional organization that has managed to achieve peace
and cooperation even amongst countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first definitive article states that the civil constitution of every state shall be republican (Kant,
1795). However, while questioning whether only republican constitutions can bring about peace, he
reasoned that since power will be constituted in the people, they would least likely to resort to war
than if it were an authoritarian regime. While noting that with this explanation, the citizens who hold
power can be described as despotic, Christian Covell in his book on the law of nations in political
thought noted that Kant indicated that international peace is dependent on the transformation of
domestic policies. He further linked this proposal to just war theory especially in relation to jus ad
bellum because Kant acknowledged that states need some sort of authorization to go to war. He stated
that the form of constitution is presented as a decisive factor in determining if the lawful authority of
states to wage war would ever be exercised (Covell, 2009). Still, Lars Erik Cederman in his article on
modelling democratic peace as a Kantian selection process , noted that this proposal was flawed in the
sense that the spread of norms that bring progress don t have to stop at democratic borders. According
to Cederman, once the spread of progress begins, the rule of law creeps into interstate, or more
precisely inter democratic,

The Effects Of Fear On Hiv And Hiv
Fear plays a big role in the way society treats or views patients who have been diagnosed as HIV
positive. Due to the lack of general knowledge regarding the illness and how it is transmitted, they are
led to believe a HIV positive person is extremely contagious, and can go on to infect anyone within
the general vicinity. As we now know, it has become apparent that HIV can only be transmitted
through certain activities that involve fluid transfer between an infected patient and someone who is
HIV negative. These activities include sexual intercourse, being born to an infected mother (during
pregnancy, birth or through being breast fed), being pricked by a contaminated needle (eg health care
workers), receiving blood transfusions from an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All other forms of transmission are at such low risk they are negligible, but still possible. [2]
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the possible methods of transmission, it has become easy for
society to associate this illness with shameful or immoral behaviours, such as homosexuality, drug use
and sex work. It is because of this behaviour associated with the illness that a lot of stigma and
discrimination arise, and due to the reluctance to talk about the issue, the fear of the disease because of
the misconceptions around the topic remains a big issue that if not resolved will continue to harm all
patients afflicted with this illness. The consequences of this disease on HIV+ patients is widespread
and does not only affect the persons health but consequently also affects almost all other aspects of
their lives, such as: their income, marriage/ family life, healthcare, their position in legal situations,
reputation and also goes on to cause depression and anxiety as they lose hope and feel less worth due
to the stigma they face. There are many sources of the aforementioned stigma that go on to directly
affect a patient in the above mentioned areas of their lives. To begin with, HIV+ patients are subject to
a lot of discrimination from the government as in many cases (in 60% of countries) there are various
laws and policies that hinder patients accessibility to medications and treatments, affecting everyone

Learning Receptive Language Skills By Using An Authentic Text
Reading is a complex cognitive process of decoding symbols in order to construct or derive meaning
(reading comprehension). www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reading The aim of the assignment is to practice
receptive language skills by using an authentic text. I have choose an advert to discuss the importance
of donation to schools for breakfast for young students. I obtained it from www.magicbreakfast.com
website. I am confident about the text that it would be ideal for visual learners as it comprises with an
image . I m teaching Entry 1 , and is a well blend of diversity. Learners are from Bangladesh, Italy,
Romania and Sudan. Learners have good receptive skills and always welcome new ideas toward their
learning. Their positive approach is an asset towards my teaching, and I felt the advert would be
appropriate. The advert gives the message to donate for the good cause and is not culturally biased.
The element of personalisation from learners aspect would help them to engage in the reading
effectively, hence allowing a productive session to occur.
The text is formal and has good vocabulary aspect. It would create a good discussion. I feel the theme
of the text would make it a good discussion for the productive activity.
At the same time I would assure learners will enjoy reading and would not be bored because my main
focus would be on the weaker ones, they should get the opportunity to read and give their opinions.
I would preteach vocabulary to simplify the understanding.

Analysis Of Verses Upon The Burning Of Our House
Anne Bradstreet was and is a highly regarded Puritan poet of seventeenth century American literature.
She defied cultural expectations of women at the time and became the first accomplished woman poet
of the New World. As evident in her poetry, she was strictly loyal to God and her Puritan beliefs, but
she was not exempt from grief and doubt in the face of tragedy. Some, however, would argue that her
grief and doubt in response to those tragedies showed a stray from her strict Puritan belief system.
One controversial tragic event, in particular, that she wrote about exemplified her struggle between
earthly desires and heavenly truths: the blaze that overtook her family s home. Anne Bradstreet, in her
poem Verses upon the Burning of Our House, demonstrates the common internal conflict of Christians
as she battles between her Puritan theology and her innate human emotions in response to her
devastating house fire.
Anne was born in the early seventeenth century in England. She was privileged with an excellent
education because her father, Thomas Dudley, was a steward to a prominent figure. She married
Simon Bradstreet at just sixteen years of age while still residing in England. When Anne was still a
teenager, the Puritans of the Massachusetts Bay Company made the decision to leave and settle
together in the New World, the Dudleys and Bradstreets journeyed with them. In contrast to the way
she was raised, the life of settlers proved to be difficult in the colony because of

World War I Was One Of The Most Drastic Events During...
World War I was one of the most drastic events in American history. It had an unequaled contribution
to shaping modern day American culture. WWI and American Art successfully documents a fragile
moment in American History from the Perspective of the visual artist. The curators achieve this by
communicating some important historical facts. This review intends to expound on how these works
exemplify these facts and to provide a criticism of its effectiveness. The exhibition is organized
systematically and chronologically, as well as sequentially. Each segment has a title, supplemented by
a detailed description which gives context to the content. This makes for easy transitioning through
the various sections of the show. To the curator s credit, the audience will find these descriptions
extremely useful. Without them as a guide it would be difficult to keep track of the sequence in which
the objects are organized. The personal accounts of the artist s experience of the war are also useful.
They add a context to the circumstances surrounding the artist during that time. Such a device
strengthens the viewer s understanding of the object being displayed. Through this exhibition, the
curators have managed to expertly communicate a few historical truths. Firstly, that American artists
responded to war in creative ways; exemplified by the variety of works on display. Secondly,
American artists had a position on the War. They were actual vocal members of society who

Assess the View That Economic Development Is Not Possible...
Assess the view that economic development is not possible without causing environmental
degradation 15 marks.
Overall, I feel that it is mainly large scale economic development projects that are not possible without
causing some environmental degradation. Construction is one of the main reasons for this, for any
development to take place an area must be used efficiently to maximize space for development. A
great example of this is the 3 Gorges Dam in China; this cost over $25 billion to build. Yes, it was
financially positive, however a lot of land was taken, which led to huge disruptions in local
ecosystems.
Also china has a huge demand for Iron; this is in order to build the buildings and also for the growing
demands of the car ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
16 of the top 20 air polluted cities are located in China; this is due to rapid development in many what
were rural areas of China. A massive 30% of china suffers from acid rain, also because air quality is so
poor, 400,000 premature deaths from air polluted causes in 2003. Leaking water pipes contaminated
drinking water, which caused illness throughout China; resulting in 70% rivers/lakes are polluted.
As well as environmental concerns, there are also social concerns, such as the rural population are not
seeing the positives of the economic boom, which is not fair as they work just as hard. Also it s the
rapid development that is taking their farm land to either convert it to homes for the county s fast
growing population and taking land in place of factories for the also fast growing industries housing is
regularly demolished and in 2007 300,00 people were evicted from their homes; to create space. 20%
of the Chinese population live on less than $1 per day, also in China, child labour is not uncommon,
and this is in order to keep up with the rapid growth within industries.
On the other hand, there are many other schemes that promote economic development without having
negative environmental impacts. However, these tend to be small scale aid projects as they usually
help improve people s quality of life and standard of living more directly. For example, Practical

The Benefits Of The Athenian Democracy
The athenian democracy started to develop after the Persian War. Under Particle s rule, Athens
economy thrived and the government became more democratic. Not all Athens citizen agree about the
idea of democracy. There also people who supported democracy, because they think it will help free
the citizens from the rule of tyrants and long. To make Athens democracy stronger they have to bring
people together. First, Athenian democracy should be about every citizen and how they should take
part in Athens democracy. For example, many people who are part of Athenian democracy are the
ones who owned parts of the land. The word democracy had not yet been invented, the foundations
has been laid (D#7). This shows that, only the rich are part of the Athenian democracy and not all the
poor citizens were part of Athenian democracy. Many of the poor citizens didn t receive the rights they
deserved. In conclusion, not all of the citizens of Athen were a part of the Athenian democracy.
Second, Athens democracy is about how no one should be above the law. For example, if you commit
a crime, then you should get the punishment for your crime. ... required to pay the penalty: He had to
settle his private affairs within ten days and to depart from the city for ten years (D#6). This shows
that, the government is trying to maintain order by punishing people who commit a crime without a

Yurano s Chushingura Loyalty In The Japanese Culture
Shown in the book Chushingura loyalty is very important in the Japanese culture. They ve always
lived by absolute loyalty and self sacrifice for their families and their heir. The two characters I think
that represent the best and worst qualities of the Japanese Bushido and Japanese spirit are Oboshi
Yuranosuke and Honzo. Yuranosuke presents the best qualities while Honzo present more so of the
worst qualities.
Yuranosuke throughout the book shows absolute loyalty. He is the chief retainer of Lord Enya, he
served throughout as a mediator in the story. In Act four, when Hangan was ordered by the shogun to
commit suicide for drawing his sword on a fellow ronin. When Yuranosuke shows up he is too late,
when he enters Hangan stabs himself with his sword. Before he dies, Hangan tells Yuranosuke he
wants vengeance upon Moronao. After Hangan death Yuranosuke then forms an alliance of retainers
who all agree to swear vengeance upon Moronao. This act of vengeance presented Yuranosuke s
loyalty to Hangan and what classifies him as a perfect model for the Bushido code. The death he
eventually offers Moronao is perhaps not even a death of dishonor. Yuranosuke offers Moronao the

Accounting System And The Roman Empire
Another Society with their own intricate accounting system was the Roman Empire. This comes as no
surprise because of the scope and size of the Roman Empire; accounting was once again a necessity to
a well maintained society. There is evidence of comprehensive financial statements in the rule of
Emperor Augustus circa 63 BC 14 AD. These statements included information on expenses on
statistics concerning the provinces and dependent kingdoms; direct and indirect taxation; as well as
recurrent expenditures and gifts , as well as, the amounts of cash in the Aerarium...and in the hands of
the publicani (Oldroyd, The Role... , 1995). The Aerarium was the treasury, and the publicani was the
public. These are similar to what the Chinese had because they were used by the government to go
about completing the financing and running of the empire. These figures could be used to make it
easier to track all the expenses and revenues of the government. The government was not the only
ones to keep accounting records in the Roman Empire either. Account books were kept by those look
to maintain and achieve citizenship. It is believed that men of property at Rome often did write up
their permanent account books about every month. They were required to do this to maintain their
citizenship because citizenship was tied to the amount of property owned and this meant a need to
keep records of it. (Oldroyd, The Role... , 1995). As well as citizens, accounting was a necessity for

Green Roof Cons
Pros Cons of Green Roofing
Green roofing systems are rapidly becoming one of the most popular options for environmentally
conscious customers interested in making a statement with their home while helping the environment
at the same time, and several roofing companies in Chicago are beginning to specialize in this field. A
green roof does not mean that a roof has solar panels or wind turbines installed; a green roof is a
system that is covered with plants, mosses, and other types of vegetation.
There are three primary types of green roofing systems: extensive and intensive roofs. Extensive
roofing systems have a very thin layer of soil covering the roof, which is used to plant moss, grasses,
and herbs. This system is relatively light and is not very difficult to install, meaning reduced labor
costs for you and no need for an heavy duty support system.
Intensive roofing systems, on the other hand, utilize a much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Cons
Green roofs are difficult systems to put into place and require the contracting with experienced roofing
companies in order to complete the job. They are also significantly more expensive than traditional
roofing systems, so you must increase your budget if you desire this type of system. Roofing
companies will also need to spend additional money on supplies, as these types of roofs require
additional insulation and waterproofing before complete.
Upkeep is also a major issue with green roofs. They require regular water and pruning, just like a
traditional garden, which can add hours of additional work to your schedule every week.
Lastly, there is additional maintenance and planting required in a harsh climate like that found in
Chicago. Because of the severity of Chicago winters, you will be required to replant your roof every

Evolution Of Flight Research Paper
Flight is a very complex function, and in order to develop into what we know now as birds, there are
several major evolutionary changes that needed to develop to maturity. In order for fly, the skeletal
structure, musculature, respiratory system, circulatory systems, and feathers must all be adapted to
allow for an organism to take flight. Many scientists have proposed theories about the origin of flight,
but the Arboreal and Cursorial theories have emerged as the strongest cases. Arboreal theories are
based around the idea that the organisms climbing into trees jump out of those trees and glide down,
eventually adapted to flap to increase drag. This theory is based in the skeletal similarities of gliding
animals to those of birds.1 This tree hopping evolution hypothesis is supported by Archaeopteryx, one
of the prime examples of a transitional animal for flight. Archaeopteryx presents with long unfused
claws that are adaptations for climbing and grasping.3 In addition, there are also presence of a furcula,

Logical Vs. Physical Network Design Essay
Logical vs. Physical Network Design The typical Top Down approach to network design uses a
systematic method to plan, design, and implement a new network. Generally, the Top Down
methodology involves analysis of the business requirements and goals, development of the logical
design based on such goals, development of the physical design, and a phase for testing, optimizing,
and documenting the network design. This paper focuses on the activities performed to create a logical
design of a network and then goes on to explain how the physical design is created.

Once the aforementioned information is gathered, the logical design process can commence. The first
step in logical design is selecting a network topology. Here, the overall structure of the network is
depicted by connecting lines between each node. Furthermore, the network segments along with their
scope, connection points, and placement of general inter networking devices are defined.
Logical design also includes the creation of a layered hierarchal model which includes a core layer, a
distribution layer, and an access layer. The core layer is the backbone of the network and consists of
high end equipment optimized for efficient packet flow. The distribution layer defines a boundary

Class Moe The Reasons for the Success of the Bolsheviks and the Outcomes for Their Success
The Bolsheviks played quite a successful role in the October Revolution. There were many reasons
that helped the Bolsheviks seize power and transform Russia into a modern socialist society namely,
the weakness of the provisional government, Lenin s great leadership, Trotsky s control, and finally,
the Bolsheviks successful propaganda. These acts shaped the Bolshevik Party and gained it social,
political, and economic support from the lower classes. This all resulted in both the creation of the
Soviet Union and the Civil War. The Bolsheviks went from being an insignificant radical party to a
political ruling majority.

In addition to that, the Petrograd Soviet released many orders refusing workers and soldiers to obey
the Provisional Government unless the Soviet agreed. This weakened the Provisional Government s
power as it did absolutely nothing in trying to end the Soviets power.
The Provisional Government harmed itself with many bad decisions and not having the ability to
control the numerous problems in Russia. The Provisional Government s bad decision of continuing
the war led to inflation in the economy, bad living conditions for the lower classes. The great demand
of food for the soldiers led to extreme hunger issues for the peasants and workers. Therefore, the
peasants anger made them attack and capture nobles lands. The Provisional Government couldn t
manage to end the issues, as it sent troops to take back the lands from the peasants and set up Death
Squads to execute the deserting soldiers. These acts lost the people s support and faith in the

The Battle Of Okinawa As Operation Iceberg
The battle of Okinawa, also known as Operation Iceberg, took place in April June 1945. It was the
largest military operation landing in the Pacific theater of World War II. It was also the final battle in
the effort to defeat the Japanese combatants against the Allied forces. Okinawa was the largest island
in the Ryukyu Islands and being only 350 miles away from the Japanese homeland of Kyushuit, it was
strategically advantageous for the Allies. The Japanese, Okinawans, and the Allies were all aware that
Okinawa was the final objective for an invasion of the Japanese homeland. The Japanese had fortified

As we want to achieve the goals to build healthcare organization with productively and economically,
there are common issues or challenges that leader face today. As they may relate and involve in many
people, the problem may occur. First challenge that may face is reconciliation challenge. It is difficult
to change the old behaviour of some people. This is because it has become habit to them. Changing
the people behaviour and introduce the new practice will cause a conflict between follower and leader.
Donahue explained that in order to handle the conflict and ask the follower to stop the bad habit, the
leader should speak the truth but do it in a gracious, even tone, seeking to understand the other person
even as they point out the problem (Donahue, 2013). Leader should give some space to explain and
response but make sure the whole words are truth.
Second challenge is learning challenge. Leader will faced problem in teach the entire follower.

In such circumstances, instructions provided, choices made, and actions taken may have extraordinary

Best Cost Focused Strategy By Thompson Et. Thompson Jr.
The competitors can try to make a distinctive product or release the improved version of the firm s
product. Extensive differentiation can have a reverse effect of losing the current customers.
Differentiation is expected to be a continuous process. The current differentiation can become obsolete
in the short run and the customer becomes more knowledgeable about the product and their needs and
perception changes. 5.3.3 Focused Strategy The third strategy in Porter s model is Focused strategy
which is applicable for the firms that are operating in a narrow competitive scope or Niche Market.
The strategy is applied based on the market segmentation. It can be segmented based on location,
specific income group (usually high income group) or difference in the usage of the product. The

The topic of whether or not school uniforms should be allowed has always been highly debated. The
reason why it is such a hot topic is because it pertains to a student s individuality and the possible

Hours and hours of research have been poured into this subject in order to find a definitive answer. If
the research has proved anything, it is that school uniforms are ineffective and they restrict self

The Memory Of Memory And Memory
A fact that cannot be denied is that human beings rely on their memory a lot, not only to remember
special events or memorise facts that have been learned but also to recall processes and routines
executed on a daily basis. Memory can be defined as a system that processes information in the mind,
which consists of three stages; namely encoding, storage, and retrieval (Farlex Partner Medical
Dictionary, 2012). Encoding refers to the receiving and modification of an informational stimulus so
that it can be embedded in the memory. Storage is the next memory stage, in which information is
retained and kept available until it is needed again. Information is more likely to be stored in the long
term if it is continuously used and rehearsed. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The oldest recorded example of a mnemonic device is the method of loci, which was created back in
the Ancient Greek era (Robson, 2011). This method involves visual imagery by relating new
information to specific locations in a familiar place to a person. When this association is established, a
person can recall the new information relative to the landmarks of the familiar location. Besides that,
chunking is also another type of mnemonic device, in which a large piece of information is broken
down into smaller chunks. A theory by Jacobs (1890), as cited in Holt Lewis (2008), stated that the
capacity of the short term memory is about 5 to 9 chunks. Therefore, chunking lengthy information
into smaller sections can help the human brain to encode more information at a higher rate, so that
they can be stored easily. Other mnemonic devices include acronyms, keyword method, and narrative
chaining.
Mnemonic devices have been proven to work very well for memory enhancement. The information
learned via mnemonic devices tends to be remembered better for a longer period as compared to other
memorisation techniques such as rote learning. Rote learning refers to a method of memorisation
based on repetition without fully understanding or focusing on what is being committed to memory
(Stevens Bernier, 2013). While most people believe that repetition is the best way to remember
information, the context of the

Financial Planning Career
For my occupation I chose Financial Planning. I chose financial planning because I like helping other
people and balancing their life. Being a financial planner would also help me balance my life and have
everything in order. A financial plan is a full evaluation of a person s current and future finances in a
given time, and taking this information to plan the future.
Financial planning started in the 1960s, after the World War 2. When World War 2 ended people
started creating careers to help Americans that were struggling succes. On December 12th of 1969 13
men gathered and created this profession. It started getting bigger and bigger over the years, they
started creating new things like the Institute of Certified Financial Planners and many other creative
things.
There were many earlier pioneers in the field of financial planning. One of the first and most
important was Donald Pitti. His role was significant because he worked successfully for the financial
planning association. Long after his role was changed, he would still be admired for his countless
efforts towards this profession.

Anne Moody s Coming Of Age Essay
HIST278 Essay One Joseph Malthus, 42863655
Anne Moody s Coming of Age in Mississippi is a story of a black girl growing up in the American
Deep South during the development of the Civil Rights Movement. Moody notices the racism that
envelops her life and attempts to understand why it exists, despite the absence of reasonable
grounding. Suffocating under the restrictions and fear caused by systematic racism, she ultimately
decides to become an activist, and takes an active role in demanding equality and a better life for
Black Americans.
Moody s childhood was riddled with incidents where white people imposed their superiority and
control over her and other blacks. She sought to understand why American society was structured this
way. Moody first begins thinking about this after she is forced away from her friends in a segregated
cinema. While her friends were allowed to sit in the main atrium to watch the film, Moody and her
family were forced to use a separate entrance and sit behind them on a balcony. Moody noticed that
her friends whiteness meant they were treated better, but at her age she could not understand why their
skin tone made them better than her: why their whiteness provided them with a pass to downstairs in
that nice section and [her] blackness sent [her] to the balcony .1 She became determined to discover
what made whites more deserving of better homes and schools compared to those which blacks were
consigned to. Moody did not see skin tone as a

Patients with the cardiovascular disease tend to have a weak heart muscle. Wahlstrom and Colleagues
(2017) explored the paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) in patients with the cardiovascular disease.
Generally, atrial fibrillation is provoked by stress and anxiety. They found that yoga practiced by their
80 participants for 12 weeks showed an improvement in the heart rate, decreasing the progression of
arrhythmia and the remodeling of atria. By performing yoga regularly, these participants were able to
maintain their stress level low by activating the parasympathetic system. After 12 weeks post study,
the patients who performed yoga afterwards were found to have 24% decrease conducting atrial
fibrillation than those who did not do yoga on regular basis. Their conduction of atrial fibrillation was
only six percent. Yoga practice was shown to decrease blood pressure, improve endothelial function,
and reduce inflammation (Lakkireddy, 2013).
Another study by Jones and Colleagues (2016) concluded in their studies that the 12 weeks of 90
minutes yoga practice done by postmenopausal women increased the heart rate variability. Since
women during the phase of menopause have increased heart rate, by performing yoga, the
parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) dominance caused an increase in the heart rate variability. The
second half of the group performed regular 90 minutes exercise and it was found to be unbeneficial.

Solution Of Homelessness In Canada
According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (Henry et al., 2016), over
500,000 people were homeless in the United States on one given night in January 2016. The Canadian
Observatory on Homelessness reported that 35,000 people were homeless in Canada around the same
time and that at least 235,000 Canadians experience homelessness at some point in a year (Gaetz et

Although both the U.S. and Canada have made some effort toward reducing and ending homelessness,

As homelessness became a larger issue in the country, the federal government began to pay more
attention to it. In 1987, Congress passed the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act, which
provided funding for emergency food and shelter programs specifically designed for the homeless
(Padgett et al., 2016). The Act also created the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness
(USICH), which was largely inactive until 2002 (Padgett et al., 2016). At this point, federal
homelessness policy managed homelessness by providing shelters and other short term solutions, as
opposed to preventing homelessness and actually getting people off the street.
Despite millions of dollars from Congress funding services for the homeless, homelessness did not
decrease in he U.S. during the 1980s or 1990s. Since then, an ideology known as Housing First has
come into popularity, which will be elaborated on in the literature review section. The National
Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH) defines Housing First as a homeless assistance approach that
prioritizes providing people experiencing homelessness with permanent housing as quickly as possible
and then providing voluntary supportive services as needed ( Housing First ). This

  • 2. Mussolini Rise to Power Mussolini Benito Mussolini appears to stride through 20th century Italian history like a buffoon, a fascist dictator whose ludicrous posing was dwarfed by the incalculably more sinister nature of Adolf Hitler s Nazi regime. Young socialist Mussolini was born in 1883. As a young man, he was a rousing orator, a tireless journalist and a socialist. In 1912, after years of hack journalism and self promotion, he was appointed editor of the Socialist Party newspaper Avanti!, preaching left wing revolution. But, when the First World War broke out, and Mussolini called for Italy to ally itself with France, he was expelled from the party, whose policy was neutrality. When Italy joined the war, Mussolini fought in the army, then after peace in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was no systematic discrimination against Jews; and political opponents were imprisoned or exiled to remote regions of Italy rather than thrown into concentration camps. Fatal attraction In 1933, Hitler came to power in Germany. Although Mussolini was the senior Fascist, he soon recognised Hitler as the dominant figure on the European stage. Reversing his earlier policies, and despite the fact that he had once had a Jewish mistress, Mussolini introduced anti Semitic legislation. In 1935, Mussolini tried to demonstrate Italy s power by invading Abyssinia (now Ethiopia). The following year, Italy joined Germany in providing military support to General Franco s Nationalists in the Spanish Civil War, while Hitler supported Mussolini s fantasies about a new Italian empire. In 1940, Italy entered the Second World War on Germany s side. Mismanaged, ill equipped and worn down by years of fighting in Abyssinia and Spain, Italian forces were routed in Greece and got bogged down in North Africa. In the spring of 1943, they were driven out of Africa; on 10 July, Allied forces landed in Sicily. Soon after, Mussolini was deposed by the Fascist Grand Council and the king. In September, Italy signed an armistice with the Allies, and Mussolini was arrested and held in a remote hotel in the Apennines. But Hitler couldn t let Italy fall without a fight: the Germans invaded the country, Mussolini was rescued ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Immanuel Kant s Uninable Peace In 1795, Immanuel Kant a German philosopher wrote an essay titled perpetual peace: a philosophical sketch where he lays down rubrics that define the general nature of states as political entities and how state structures and external policies should be reformed to ensure lasting peace. Over a century later, the proposal he made in this essay have been linked to traits and theories in modern day society like the democratic peace theory that states that democratic nations don t fight one another, and the cosmopolitan theory which is used to explain the unprecedented rise in regional organizations. So far, the EU is considered as the most successful regional organization that has managed to achieve peace and cooperation even amongst countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first definitive article states that the civil constitution of every state shall be republican (Kant, 1795). However, while questioning whether only republican constitutions can bring about peace, he reasoned that since power will be constituted in the people, they would least likely to resort to war than if it were an authoritarian regime. While noting that with this explanation, the citizens who hold power can be described as despotic, Christian Covell in his book on the law of nations in political thought noted that Kant indicated that international peace is dependent on the transformation of domestic policies. He further linked this proposal to just war theory especially in relation to jus ad bellum because Kant acknowledged that states need some sort of authorization to go to war. He stated that the form of constitution is presented as a decisive factor in determining if the lawful authority of states to wage war would ever be exercised (Covell, 2009). Still, Lars Erik Cederman in his article on modelling democratic peace as a Kantian selection process , noted that this proposal was flawed in the sense that the spread of norms that bring progress don t have to stop at democratic borders. According to Cederman, once the spread of progress begins, the rule of law creeps into interstate, or more precisely inter democratic, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to the lack of general knowledge regarding the illness and how it is transmitted, they are led to believe a HIV positive person is extremely contagious, and can go on to infect anyone within the general vicinity. As we now know, it has become apparent that HIV can only be transmitted through certain activities that involve fluid transfer between an infected patient and someone who is HIV negative. [2] Unfortunately, due to the nature of the possible methods of transmission, it has become easy for society to associate this illness with shameful or immoral behaviours, such as homosexuality, drug use and sex work. It is because of this behaviour associated with the illness that a lot of stigma and discrimination arise, and due to the reluctance to talk about the issue, the fear of the disease because of the misconceptions around the topic remains a big issue that if not resolved will continue to harm all patients afflicted with this illness. The consequences of this disease on HIV+ patients is widespread and does not only affect the persons health but consequently also affects almost all other aspects of their lives, such as: their income, marriage/ family life, healthcare, their position in legal situations, reputation and also goes on to cause depression and anxiety as they lose hope and feel less worth due to the stigma they face. There are many sources of the aforementioned stigma that go on to directly affect a patient in the above mentioned areas of their lives. • 9. Analysis Of Verses Upon The Burning Of Our House Anne Bradstreet was and is a highly regarded Puritan poet of seventeenth century American literature. She defied cultural expectations of women at the time and became the first accomplished woman poet of the New World. As evident in her poetry, she was strictly loyal to God and her Puritan beliefs, but she was not exempt from grief and doubt in the face of tragedy. Some, however, would argue that her grief and doubt in response to those tragedies showed a stray from her strict Puritan belief system. One controversial tragic event, in particular, that she wrote about exemplified her struggle between earthly desires and heavenly truths: the blaze that overtook her family s home. Anne Bradstreet, in her poem Verses upon the Burning of Our House, demonstrates the common internal conflict of Christians as she battles between her Puritan theology and her innate human emotions in response to her devastating house fire. Anne was born in the early seventeenth century in England. She was privileged with an excellent education because her father, Thomas Dudley, was a steward to a prominent figure. She married Simon Bradstreet at just sixteen years of age while still residing in England. The curators achieve this by communicating some important historical facts. This review intends to expound on how these works exemplify these facts and to provide a criticism of its effectiveness. The exhibition is organized systematically and chronologically, as well as sequentially. Each segment has a title, supplemented by a detailed description which gives context to the content. This makes for easy transitioning through the various sections of the show. To the curator s credit, the audience will find these descriptions extremely useful. Without them as a guide it would be difficult to keep track of the sequence in which the objects are organized. The personal accounts of the artist s experience of the war are also useful. They add a context to the circumstances surrounding the artist during that time. Such a device strengthens the viewer s understanding of the object being displayed. Evolution Of Flight Research Paper Flight is a very complex function, and in order to develop into what we know now as birds, there are several major evolutionary changes that needed to develop to maturity. In order for fly, the skeletal structure, musculature, respiratory system, circulatory systems, and feathers must all be adapted to allow for an organism to take flight. Many scientists have proposed theories about the origin of flight, but the Arboreal and Cursorial theories have emerged as the strongest cases. Arboreal theories are based around the idea that the organisms climbing into trees jump out of those trees and glide down, eventually adapted to flap to increase drag. • 27. The Memory Of Memory And Memory A fact that cannot be denied is that human beings rely on their memory a lot, not only to remember special events or memorise facts that have been learned but also to recall processes and routines executed on a daily basis. Memory can be defined as a system that processes information in the mind, which consists of three stages; namely encoding, storage, and retrieval (Farlex Partner Medical Dictionary, 2012). Encoding refers to the receiving and modification of an informational stimulus so that it can be embedded in the memory. Storage is the next memory stage, in which information is retained and kept available until it is needed again. Information is more likely to be stored in the long term if it is continuously used and rehearsed. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The oldest recorded example of a mnemonic device is the method of loci, which was created back in the Ancient Greek era (Robson, 2011). This method involves visual imagery by relating new information to specific locations in a familiar place to a person. When this association is established, a person can recall the new information relative to the landmarks of the familiar location. Besides that, chunking is also another type of mnemonic device, in which a large piece of information is broken down into smaller chunks. A theory by Jacobs (1890), as cited in Holt Lewis (2008), stated that the capacity of the short term memory is about 5 to 9 chunks. Therefore, chunking lengthy information into smaller sections can help the human brain to encode more information at a higher rate, so that they can be stored easily. Other mnemonic devices include acronyms, keyword method, and narrative chaining. Mnemonic devices have been proven to work very well for memory enhancement. The information learned via mnemonic devices tends to be remembered better for a longer period as compared to other memorisation techniques such as rote learning. Rote learning refers to a method of memorisation based on repetition without fully understanding or focusing on what is being committed to memory (Stevens Bernier, 2013). While most people believe that repetition is the best way to remember information, the context of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Anne Moody s Coming Of Age Essay HIST278 Essay One Joseph Malthus, 42863655 Anne Moody s Coming of Age in Mississippi is a story of a black girl growing up in the American Deep South during the development of the Civil Rights Movement. Moody notices the racism that envelops her life and attempts to understand why it exists, despite the absence of reasonable grounding. Suffocating under the restrictions and fear caused by systematic racism, she ultimately decides to become an activist, and takes an active role in demanding equality and a better life for Black Americans. Moody s childhood was riddled with incidents where white people imposed their superiority and control over her and other blacks. She sought to understand why American society was structured this way. Moody first begins thinking about this after she is forced away from her friends in a segregated cinema. While her friends were allowed to sit in the main atrium to watch the film, Moody and her family were forced to use a separate entrance and sit behind them on a balcony. Moody noticed that her friends whiteness meant they were treated better, but at her age she could not understand why their skin tone made them better than her: why their whiteness provided them with a pass to downstairs in that nice section and [her] blackness sent [her] to the balcony .1 She became determined to discover what made whites more deserving of better homes and schools compared to those which blacks were consigned to. After eight months of this ongoing study, Hartley and Colleagues (2014) found that any form of yoga showed reduction in the systolic and diastolic blood pressure, triglycerides, and an increase in high density lipoprotein. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Patients with the cardiovascular disease tend to have a weak heart muscle. Wahlstrom and Colleagues (2017) explored the paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) in patients with the cardiovascular disease. Generally, atrial fibrillation is provoked by stress and anxiety. They found that yoga practiced by their 80 participants for 12 weeks showed an improvement in the heart rate, decreasing the progression of arrhythmia and the remodeling of atria. By performing yoga regularly, these participants were able to maintain their stress level low by activating the parasympathetic system. After 12 weeks post study, the patients who performed yoga afterwards were found to have 24% decrease conducting atrial fibrillation than those who did not do yoga on regular basis. Their conduction of atrial fibrillation was only six percent. Yoga practice was shown to decrease blood pressure, improve endothelial function, and reduce inflammation (Lakkireddy, 2013). Another study by Jones and Colleagues (2016) concluded in their studies that the 12 weeks of 90 minutes yoga practice done by postmenopausal women increased the heart rate variability. Since women during the phase of menopause have increased heart rate, by performing yoga, the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) dominance caused an increase in the heart rate variability. The second half of the group performed regular 90 minutes exercise and it was found to be unbeneficial. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Canadian Observatory on Homelessness reported that 35,000 people were homeless in Canada around the same time and that at least 235,000 Canadians experience homelessness at some point in a year (Gaetz et al., 2016). Although both the U.S. and Canada have made some effort toward reducing and ending homelessness, it clearly still remains a serious problem in both countries. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As homelessness became a larger issue in the country, the federal government began to pay more attention to it. In 1987, Congress passed the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act, which provided funding for emergency food and shelter programs specifically designed for the homeless (Padgett et al., 2016). The Act also created the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH), which was largely inactive until 2002 (Padgett et al., 2016). At this point, federal homelessness policy managed homelessness by providing shelters and other short term solutions, as opposed to preventing homelessness and actually getting people off the street. Despite millions of dollars from Congress funding services for the homeless, homelessness did not decrease in he U.S. during the 1980s or 1990s. Since then, an ideology known as Housing First has come into popularity, which will be elaborated on in the literature review section. The National Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH) defines Housing First as a homeless assistance approach that prioritizes providing people experiencing homelessness with permanent housing as quickly as possible and then providing voluntary supportive services as needed ( Housing First ).
