Rock And Roll Music Analysis
Rock n Roll music is a subgenre of the meta genre, Rock. Freed (2009, 169) described it by saying,
rock n roll is really swing with a modern name. Ennis (1992, 253) identifies, First, early rocknroll
allowed every performer to draw on the full musical resources of pop, country, and rhythm and blues.
and on rockhall.com (2014) his viewpoint is expanded upon,
The more immediate roots of rock and roll lay in the so called race music, or rhythm blues, and
hillbilly music, or county western of the Forties and Fifties. Other significant influences include blues,
jazz, gospel, boogie woogie, folk and bluegrass.
Rock n Roll drew inspiration from many different styles therefore it is a hybrid of multiple genres.
The ultimate defining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Generally, the time signature of Rock n Roll is 4/4, as it is in Pop, Country, Blues and many other
genres that Rock n Roll is inspired by. For the purpose of Rock n Roll, we can assume the common
time signature is 4/4 because it is simple and easy to move to. You didn t need to be a skilled dancer to
dance to it, essentially why it was kept simple. Rock n Roll makes use of syncopation and as songs of
this genre are usually in 4/4, the emphasis is on beats 2 and 4. Snowman (2009, 220) emphasises the
importance of syncopation by saying, All dance music makes use of this, and it s often a vital element
that helps tie the whole track together.
All these ingredients combined helps create the energetic beat, arguably the most identified ingredient
of Rock n Roll.
Although the foundation of the beat is very similar to that of Rhythm and Blues, it is clear to see how
Rock n Roll has built upon it, when we listen to the music. Initially, Rock n Roll songs were often just
recreated versions of existing Rhythm and Blues songs. Big Joe Turner s song Shake, Rattle and Roll
is a Rhythm and Blues song which Bill Haley and the Comets transformed into a Rock n Roll

Underage Drinking Research Topics
With an emphasis on underage drinking, the task has encouraged the researcher to conduct research on
the topic in depth as well as the consequences both parents and children can face when underage
drinking occurs. From this interest and an obvious issue in the wider society, the hypothesis Parents
accept underage drinking as a norm in our society has been crafted. The research project should allow
the researcher with new understandings and also provide subjects involved with them too. Through
both primary research methodologies including a questionnaire and interview, and secondary research
methods i.e. literature review the researcher will gain an in depth perception about why underage
drinking has become a norm in our society and some of the consequences that parents are unaware of
when they are providing alcohol for their children. The researchers overall primary aim is to determine
whether or not this hypothesis is accurate. The focus of the project clearly sits under these Headings in

Primary data is the information you collect by conducting your own research i.e. first hand
information, which is direct from the source. An example is an oral interview, which will be conducted
where the researcher asks the individual questions. An oral interview is an example of qualitative
information which means which means that they allow the researcher to gather people s opinions and
ideas in relation to their hypothesis. In addition, another example of Primary data would be the
distribution of a questionnaire where the researcher hands out written questions to the individual,
expecting a response. This type of information can be known as a quantitative methodology, which
means that this type of methodology allows the researcher to gather numerical or statistical data in

Summary Of The Help By Kathryn Stockett
Differences do not divided people, it is the inability to accept these differences that divided people
which often leads to adversity and obstacles for minorities, In the book The Help by Kathryn Stockett,
African American maids face prejudice and hardships daily. This novel highlights the many conflicts
people face during the civil rights movement in Jackson, Mississippi 1962. There is a big divide
between the middle and lower class; most of the Black people live in poverty and work for white
families, Aibileen and Minny are maids that work for white families, Eugenia Phlean is a white
socialite who is pursuing a career as a writer. She returns from college to find that the maid that raised
her has inexplicably disappeared. Together Minny, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is the only white person is Jackson who is trying to shed a light on the injustices these women
face, she eventually has to turn against her racist friends (Holly Holbrook and Miss Leefolt). Eugenia
was very close to her maid Constantine, she was closer to her then her own mother, but Eugenia
stopped hearing from her while she was at college. When she came home from school, Constantine
mysteriously disappeared and no one would tell her what happened to her. Later on, she finds out that
Constantine left Jackson to give up her child for adoption because Constantine s father was white and
her mother was black, so when she had a baby with a black man, her baby was white. if she kept her
baby, the community would not accept them because she was black and her baby was white. After
Constantine got in contact with her daughter and came back to Jackson, Skeeter s mom gave
Constantine a choice; either cut ties with her daughter or she was fired, she choice to quit and later
died, Eugenia had no knowledge about this because she was away in college, this motivated her to
write a book about the lives of black maids, She understands that nothing is progressing in Jackson for
civil rights, so she must do something, she states But then I realize, like a shell cracking open in my

Figure 1.3 is an illustration of the power and interest of stakeholders in businesses. (Campbell,
Stonehouse Houston, 2002:28¬) Substantial Stakeholders within a Business As mentioned earlier,
stakeholders are individuals or groups of people who have a very large influence over the business.
The major desirable stakeholders in any types of businesses are as follows: Shareholders who own a
share of the company, in the hope of profit Suppliers, who provide the raw components for the
business Customers who buy the products; services Employees who endeavour tasks within the
business; are paid wages Lenders who are willing to lend money with the intention of receiving
interest The government, who collect taxes from the business activity The importance of major
stakeholders is moreover reinforced by David Boddy (2011:96) who argues that stake holders can
influence considerable dominant managers, also the businesses which choose ignore stakeholders can
be in danger of a decline in their business activity. What David Boddy is essentially trying to convey
is stakeholders are an integral part of the business and managers have to take consideration of these
stakeholders when carrying out business activities, if not then the business may suffer negative
consequences. Stakeholders Expectations on Tesco s Tesco is a British, public limited company which

Narrative Essay About Moving To Canada
As I walked to the parking lot where my mom had arrived to pick me up from school, my sister ran
out of the car, ran towards me and yelled excitedly, We re going to Canada! Having grown up in
Kuwait for my whole life of 15 years, I could hardly believe my sister s words. Going to Canada! I
had only been out of the country twice, each time just to vacation and visit family in the Philippines
where both my parents are from. I had always imagined what life would be like outside of Kuwait,
and now it was finally going to be real. My 15 year old self was devastated We were leaving the only
home I had known for 15 years. It did not take long for my sisters excitement to die when we realized
that we would be leaving our friends and everything we ve ever known and not returning for a long
time. Life in Kuwait for 15 years was comfortable and we were more than financially stable. Moving
to Canada without a job offer in place meant that we would have to start from the beginning all over
again. Goodbyes were hard but my parents encouraged us to see the joys of moving to a place where
we could start over and become accepted citizens of a country. Arriving in Canada, I experienced the
biggest culture shock of my life. Vancouver, BC was cold, wet, and loud. I had thought adjusting
would be relatively easy; I spoke English with a slight accent but I was very shy that it confused some
of the other kids to think I couldn t speak English. I did not understand the culture, which took a

Major Music Project Analysis
The following document is the Evaluation of my major music project: composing, recording and
realising a 6 track EP of instrumental math rock under the band name Yass. Firstly I will discuss if the
project met my original aims. Secondly, I will talk about how I researched the project and how to
explain the process of development in composing and songwriting. Finally, I will evaluate the final
product and how it fit s in the modern music industry is it viable as an extension of further work.
The initial aims of my project were to compose and record a six track EP with all the tracks mixed and
master to a professional standard. I have met these aims to a very strong extent as I have managed to
record all of the tracks to a professional level. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This process worked well for the first two songs I was able to send demo guides to the drummer
taking his ideas opinions into account. This allowed me to ensure the drum parts were a song enough
standard as composing drum parts is a big weakness. Due to scheduling issues, however, the drums
where the last instrument to be recorded in each case. However we are able to get a rehearsal to run
through and fine tune two songs at a time as a band. This meant the guitar and bass tracks were
recorded to a click track meaning we could bank up song s and really nail the many intricacies of the
guitar bass parts in the recording session. Recording without a drum guide meant the part had to be
really energetic and solid this forced me and the guitarist to really focus in on what we were trying to
play. once two or three songs had guitar and bass on them we would then bring in the summer to block

Textual Analysis Of A Movie
There are some films that are notorious for making people cry. 2 Think of Schindler s
List (1993), Titanic (1997) and Sophie s Choice (1982). Even kiddie flicks such as
Toy Story 3 (2010) and Up (2009) make these tear filled lists. 3 These films must elicit strong
emotional responses from their audiences but how is music used to accompany or even amplify these
sob worthy motion pictures? This essay will survey a selection of six films known for their emotional
impact and attempt to analyse what function music serves in their most devastating scenes. Aspects

As
Rose begins to understand Jack has died, there is very little extra diegetic sound. A gentle chiming can
be heard which gives the scene a sense of the mystical. The calls of the rescue boat become muffled
and slow: the shots of the boat are in fact in slow motion. When Rose fully understands that Jack has
been completed refrigerated, we hear the sound of a female voice, accompanied by some gentle
synths. The singer is performing a rendition of Rose and Jack s love theme, which has been developed
throughout the film. This particular version of James Horner s theme is more bare than its other
occurrences, which have been more heavily accompanied. Most of all, it is interesting that upon losing
that relationship, music plays that was supposed to be representative of the strength of that
relationship. The score, by association, is able to remind us of what has been lost the theme has
collected their formative moments as their relationship grew throughout the film. Now there s a
double edge to this because quite famously the love theme for Titanic became a hit single for pop
singer Celine
Dion. Thus the emotional score also becomes a commodity to be sold for

A Literary Analysis Of Esperanza Rising By Pam Muñoz Ryan
Literary Analysis of Esperanza Rising To foreshadow events in books or to tell the meaning of a story,
authors often use symbolism. Symbolism uses people, places, or things that have their own meaning,
to express something different. The author of Esperanza Rising, Pam Muñoz Ryan, uses a certain fruit
or vegetable to symbolize events of emotions that occur in the chapter. Three chapters in Esperanza
Rising that represent an important part of the book are Los Higos, Las Cebollas, and Los Aquacates.
In Esperanza Rising, figs, onions, and avocados symbolize a new beginning, the acceptance of starting
anew, and the rewards followed after hardship. Los Higos, or figs, represent a new beginning, because
of Esperanza s journey through the fig orchard. Mama and Esperanza execute their plan, in which they
leave under the cover of darkness for California. During their trip, they walk through the fig orchard
separating El Rancho de las Roses and Señor Rodriquez s ranch. When Esperanza turned around at the
end of the fig orchard, She could see nothing behind her but a trail of splattered figs she had
resentfully smashed beneath her feet. (p.57) The smashed figs represent her old life disappearing,
therefore leading Esperanza to start over with a new beginning. Her walking through the fig orchard

The Mind Is A Complex Part Of The Human Being That Can...
The mind is a complex part of the human being that can elicit emotions, thoughts, and reactions that
influence and mold an individual s personality and attitude. Culture, diversity, religion can also play a
strong role in how an individual views the world. As well as how the individual was raised, what
values were instilled, and various experiences in life. Between the attributes that are contained in the
mind, a person s culture, values, and experiences in life are the sediment for a person s foundation.
The attributes mentioned, cannot act alone to help an individual in how they will cope with various
situations. Some individuals are reluctant to be resilient by accepting help and support when
encountered by stressors, tragedies, or traumas in life. Others decide that they want to put on a brave
face and do the best they can, yet do not communicate to anyone their problems. Consequently, this
can lead for a person to repress feelings, and when they reach a breaking point emotions come out, can
be of a great magnitude and dangerous. No doubt, the field of counseling and therapy is essential and
beneficial to just about everyone. Case Study/Stressors Take, for instance, Linda s case who is a 42
year old Hispanic female who lives in NYC. She is facing the following social stressors: finding out
her husband of 21 years has been meeting up with various women, helping her live in mother with her
legal problems, and has her two children of college age at home. An environmental

Pros And Cons Of The Elective System And The Merit System
What are the pros and cons of the elective system and the merit system for selecting state judges. In
the merit the judicial person is nominated with a list of qualified people about 3 to 5. Then the list is
sent to the governor for him to decide on list of candidates. Then after about a year the judge is faced
with an uncontested retention election then each subsequent term thereafter. As for an elective system
judge s campaigns are somewhat low key turn outs are often unopposed. Yet the elective system gives
the judges political party a stronger voice to be heard and lets their party viewpoints stand out to the
public that vote them into office. However, in today s elections more judicial campaigns are getting
costlier and they are digging

Setting And Symbolism In The Piano Lesson By August Wilson
A haunting of the past
In August Wilson s play, The piano lesson, the author takes his readers on a journey through the life of
the Charles family. Sister and brother battle each other over a piano that tells their family s history.
Through examining their history, Wilson uses setting and symbolism to convey his personal belief in
the importance of one s ancestral family roots and the significant impact it has in a person s everyday
life. The author uses setting to introduce the significance in the ancestry of the Charles family and
further examine the troubling state of the current generation. Wilson grew up in a non wealthy colored
district in which he set most of his plays (Fisher, James), so there is no surprise that Wilson s play has
black roots that are relatable to his past ,also acting as salute to people of color (Gantt, Patricia). His
strong connection to African American roots are why censors ,who have criticized Wilsons work,
applaud him on his capability to make interesting characters and pull from African American folklore
(Bloom, Harold), and in doing so, he shared much of his native craft and technique (Tracie, Guzzio). A
man owns the Charles family, whose grandparents had ownership of his grandparents, and he happens
to also be man who held the title of Robert Stutter (Bryer, Jackson R., and Mary C. Hartig, Wilson
1.2.8). In the play, a major flashback occurs on a slave plantation where the older Charles family must
to pick cotton (2.1.7). The setting is critical to the family when it comes to the readers understanding
of the present Charles s past, as their grandparents were slaves which in turn made life for the future
generations a lot harder. Although Bernice lives in Pittsburgh (1.1.5), it is still hard for colored people
to make a living and buy food from white only markets, so instead, their parents teach them things
such as how to kill a chicken (2.2.10). Wilson uses setting to show that even though Bernice lives in a
different environment than that of which her family roots originate, their individualities interrupt and
cross within her own (Lise, Kidergurd), and the physical things, such as her skin color, still affect her
present life. Although Bernice does not wish to

Productions and Operations Management
Productions and Operations Management I The three categories of statistical quality control The three
categories of SQC include the traditional statistical tools, acceptance sampling, and statistical process
control (SPC). Traditional statistical tools are descriptive statistics like the mean and range, used to
describe qualitative characteristics. Acceptance sampling is a process of taking a random sample or
portion of a batch and deciding whether to accept or reject the whole batch. SPC is a process that uses
samples to determine whether a process is functioning normally or not (Ryan, 2011). Traditional
statistical tools describe the quality characteristics although they do not elucidate the extent of the
quality (whether good or bad). Acceptance sampling determines whether an entire batch produced
should be accepted or rejected after the goods have been produced. However, SPC tracks the process
to ensure it is functioning properly for a given period. These tools can be used together effectively.
Traditional statistical tools are used as inputs into SPC, which is updated frequently enough to ensure
that quality problems are identified in good time. Finally, after a batch has been produced, acceptance
sampling is used to determine whether the batch is of good quality or not. The statistical process
control Statistical process control is a technique of controlling, monitoring, and improving processes
via statistical analysis. The philosophy behind this tool holds that

The Temple Of Artemis At Ephesus
The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus: World Wonder The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, also known as
the Artemision, was once a remarkable sight that was considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of
the Ancient World. The temple itself was a rather mysterious as not much is known about the rituals
that may have taken place there. It is known that the Ephesian held Artemis is the highest honor. It was
believed by some that Artemis herself was born at the location of the temple (Iosa, pg. 3). The temple
had many motifs dedicated to this believe, it can be considered the Nativity Temple of Artemis ( The

8). Wood applied for a grant from the British Museum to excavate the site after discovering it while
helping to build a railroad between Izmir and Denilzi (Jenkins, pg. 51). While excavating the great
theatre in May of 1966, Wood found an inscription describing silver figures that were dedicated to the
goddess Artemis. The inscription also mentioned a procession that would carry these objects to the
temple on the goddess s birthday. Using this Wood realized that if he found the gates, the Magnesian
Gate and the Coressian Gate, described in the passage he could find the location of the Temple of
Artemis. He found the Magnesian Gate by the end of 1967 followed later by the Coressian (Jenkins,
pg. 52). The temple itself was finally found by the end of 1869. Wood later published an account of
the excavation, including what he thought what the temple may have looked like. In 1904, the site was

had capitals that had large rosettes on them instead of the normal volutes. The modern restorations of
the capitals give them petals, but it is debated on the accuracy of this

Character Analysis Of Richard Wright s Native Son
Richard Wright composes the short story How Bigger Was Born to explain why he wrote the novel
Native Son. He expresses his experiences, thoughts and feelings in the short story, which further leads
to the creation of the novel. Wrights expressions and ideas correspond to the events that occurred in
the novel and I consider my thoughts compatible with fulfillment. The short story, How Bigger Was
Born , is the foundation of the character Bigger Thomas and his told life. In How Bigger Was Born ,
Wright tells of a memory he has of something he once read. Lenin turned to Gorky and, pointing, said
Here is their Big Ben. There is their Westminster Abbey. There is their library (page 5 paragraph 6).
The significance of this memory is to demonstrate that the two men felt as though there were not
living in a world of their own, they felt they were just a part of someone else s universe. This supports
the novel because Bigger has similar feelings to the two men in Wright s memory. In a discussion
between Bigger and Gus, they are talking about life and wondering what it would be like to not live on
their side of the line. Bigger then goes on to state: They got things we ain t. They do things and we can
t. It s just like living in jail. Half the time I feel like I m on the outside of the world peeping in through
a knothole in the fence... (Wright 20). I feel as though Wright used Bigger to portray his memories,

which are in the eastern Caribbean. Even though these places are so close to each other, their customs
and culture vary dramatically which we got to experience. In San Juan, we embarked on a city tour to
explore the two different sides of San Juan: Old San Juan and New San Juan. We learned about the
early history of the area through a visit to Castillo de San Cristóbal, the largest Spanish fort in the
New World. Its towering site over the city made it the ideal place for protecting the area and today, for
panoramic views of the city and the coast. The other destinations on our tour were short stops that
allowed us a glimpse at notable places in the city. While the tour was interesting, much of the tour
stops seemed like fillers. St. Thomas is famous for its snorkeling and its beaches. We joined a tour that

History Of Computers During World War II
History of Computers
Introduction
In today s modern world, it s hard to imagine life without computers. Throughout the decades,
computers have gotten better, faster, and smaller. It s hard to imagine that before the 20th century
almost all calculations were done by mechanical devices such as the electromechanical computers; or,
the first digital computers that had huge tubes around them that you had to designate a whole room
just to fit the computer in. Today we have Internet, phone book, pictures, videos, telephone, mail, and
camera that is compacted into one tiny device that can fit in your pocket.
Electromechanical Computers
There was a big push for technological advancement during World War II in order to gain the upper
hand in the war. The computers built during this time period were mainly electromechanical. The
calculations were performed by electrical switches that signaled the mechanical operation.
Konrad Zuse, German Computer Engineer, created Z2; one of the very first electromechanical relay
computers. It used fixed point arithmetic with 16 bits2. This was an upgrade from the previous one he
had made named the Z1. The Z1 had a 22 floating point bit, but was slower2. Therefore, Z2 was more
desired because it could compile data quicker.
Around the same time, electromechanical devices called bombes were created by the British in order
to decipher the machines that the Germans had built during World War II3. The US later

The Adventure Of The Speckled Band By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Although Dr. Roylott died while Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson were present in the residence,
Sherlock Holmes was not guilty for the death of Dr. Roylott. The mysterious story, The Adventure of
the Speckled Band, was written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Sherlock Holmes was not accountable for
the demise because he found several pieces of evidence in Julia s room and Dr. Roylott s room to
construct a prediction for Julia s death; he did not know all of the facts! Additionally, Dr. Roylott was
imprudent for not thinking about the fact that the swamp adder could eradicate him. Furthermore,
Sherlock Holmes did intend to take the life of Helen s father; he was only protecting himself, Dr.
Watson, and Helen Stoner! Sherlock Holmes was not guilty for the death of Dr. Grimesby Roylott for
various reasons, but first of all, Holmes made a prediction for the decease of Julia without knowing if
all of the evidence was true. The inquisitive detective discovered several clues in order to unravel the
mystery; yet, he was unaware of all of the true facts. Sherlock Holmes found several eccentric sights
in the room of Julia Stoner. The first clue consisted of the bell that led to a ventilator. Holmes
examined the bell pull and gave it a tug; the bell was a dummy. Additionally, he realized the ventilator
did not work as it should either. Both the ventilator and bell pull seemed to act as a passageway for
something diminutive; Sherlock Holmes did not know what the object was.

Muscle Strain Case Study
Muscle Strains
A strain is an acute or chronic soft tissue injury that occurs to a muscle, tendon, or both . The
equivalent injury to a ligament is a sprain. A strain can occur as a result of improper body mechanics
with any activity that can induce mechanical trauma or injury. The most common body location for
strains to occur is in the foot, leg, or back.
First degree little tissue tearing; mild tenderness; pain with full range of motion.
Second degree torn muscle or tendon tissues; painful, limited motion; possibly some swelling or
depression at the spot of the injury.
Third degree limited or no movement; pain will be severe at first, but may be painless after the initial
injury. Although strains are not restricted to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Immediate treatment is usually an adjunctive therapy of NSAID s and Cold compression therapy.
Controlling the inflammation is critical to the healing process. Cold compression therapy acts to
reduce swelling and pain by reducing leukocyte extravasation into the injured area. NSAID s such as
Ibuprofen/paracetamol work to reduce the immediate inflammation by inhibiting Cox 1 Cox 2
enzymes, which are the enzymes responsible for converting arachidonic acid into prostaglandin.
However, NSAIDs, including aspirin and ibuprofen, affect platelet function and should not be taken
during the period when tissue is bleeding because they will tend to increase blood flow, inhibit
clotting, and thereby increase bleeding and swelling. After the bleeding has stopped, NSAIDs can be
used with some effectiveness to reduce inflammation and pain. A new treatment for acute strains is the
use of platelet rich plasma injections which have been shown to accelerate recovery from non surgical
muscular injuries. It is recommended that the person injured should consult a medical provider if the
injury is accompanied by severe pain, if the limb cannot be used, or if there is noticeable tenderness
over an isolated spot. These can be signs of a broken or fractured bone, a sprain, or a complete muscle

Last Mile Essay
another matter that is to be decided if it s worth pursuing in gaining the consumer with and their trust
in the company, or if the additional cost that will be added to shipping is too much for the effort for
other retailers. As logistics of the last mile has been successfully evolving over the years, there are still
more issues that retailers want to resolve. One of the most significant issue is the fact that the last mile
is actually still a few hundreds of miles from the destination port to the stores, and it is difficult to
manage. Along with the growth in the evolving industry, there are pressures for retailers to manage
stock and provide efficient delivery. Managing stock from one distribution center to another, and
finally managing stock when the retailers are actually online business only could be difficult.
The whole process comes down to the last mile and because it is also where the majority of shipment s
cost and complexity is, the last mile in the shipping process is where the growing burden on the
retailers exist. Retailers and logistics firms are forced to have fast delivery, with low prices and great
quality to compete with other retailers in the same industry. With more growth in the industry, there
are problems of managing stock. In 2013, products ordered online generated just over one billion
deliveries. By 2018, this number is expected to grow by 28.8% to 1.35 billion. Because of that,
retailers and logistics firms similarly need to

Southern California Vs. El Salvador
I wake up to the warmth of the sun touching my skin; I can hear the birds chirping outside calling my
name to get ready and start the day. I get out of bed just to be attacked by two furry blurs trying to lick
my face and showing me how much they love me. I know that I have a long day ahead of me but I
have no idea what I should do. I could go to the beach and feel the soft sand in between my toes or go
to a store and prepare a nice dinner for myself. So much time in a day, but I don t have a clue on how
to spend it. These are the types of decisions I need to make on a daily basis. I go outside and take in
the beauty of my surroundings. Everything seems so perfect, so beautiful, as if it was supposed to look
that way. El Salvador is a wonderful place, full of wonderful people, and amazing scenery and there is
no place I would rather be at the moment. Living in California is wonderful, but it doesn t give me the
culture that I am looking for. El Salvador is like my home, somewhere where I can visit once in a
while, but my real home is California where I will always want to live. Although El Salvador and
California share some similarities like the settings, there are some traits like foods, culture, and the
people that make them special in their own way.
One of the common differences between El Salvador and Southern California is the food. Carl s Jr and

The Assimilation Policy and Its Impact on the Indigenous...
Since the time of federation the Aboriginal people have been fighting for their rights through protests,
strikes and the notorious day of mourning . However, over the last century the Australian federal
government has generated policies which manage and restrained that of the Aboriginal people s rights,
citizenships and general protection. The Australian government policy that has had the most
significant impact on indigenous Australians is the assimilation policy. The reasons behind this include
the influences that the stolen generation has had on the indigenous Australians, their relegated rights

Television And Commercialism Essay
Television and Commercialism
Television is populated with images which are superficial and lack depth.
Programs look more like ads and ads look more like programs. All this leads to a close circle of
consumerism. The three excerpts relate to these unifying ideas thus the validity of their argument.
quot;Surface is all; what you see is what you get. These images are proud of their standing as images.

quot; But even as television becomes television plus, it remains the national dream factory, bulletin

metaphors seems quite right, because finally television is not quite anything else. It is just television.

Ads are becoming to look more like programs with the use of narrative strategies called quot;mini

The Philosophies of John Stuart Mill as a Guide for the World
Dr. Pest s comments: This student s term paper is a model of how to apply the philosophical concepts
of a previous century to our present society. She showed how the ideas of John Stuart Mill can be used
by intelligent people to construct a society with more opportunities for women and to insure respect
for intellectual freedom.
As the world moves into the twenty first century, it faces many problems. War, disease, over
population, and starvation are examples of problems that have yet to be solved. However, progress has

If people around the world would adopt the philosophy of John Stuart Mill, the world might become a
more intelligent, and therefore tolerant, place in which to live. John Stuart Mill espoused beliefs on the
subjection of women and theism, which, if embraced by the majority of people in the world, would
put a stop to much of the oppression the world, now endures. Mill was a philosopher who took the
unusual stance that women should be considered equal to men in all respects and given the same
opportunities as men. He had very strong feelings on the subject, and in his essay entitled The
Subjection of Women he states, ... the principle which regulates the existing social relations between
the two sexes the legal subordination of one sex to the other 4s wrong in itself, and now one of the
chief hindrances to human improvement; and that it ought to be replaced by a principle of perfect
equality, admitting no power or privilege on the one side, nor disability on the other.1 [1] In this essay
Mill admits the difficulty of achieving this, but defends his ideas by showing that the position of
authority held by men is not a result of the comparison of several kinds of systems being tried and its
having been found to be the best system, but that it is the only system that has ever been tried. As a
result, one cannot not use past experience to say that women are incapable of being in positions of
authority. In this essay Mill states, In the first

The Importance Of Supply Chain Management Of Heinz Ketchup
The bestselling ketchup was introduced to the word over 140 years ago in 1876 and by 1906 Heinz
sold over 13 million bottles of ketchup per year. Today, Heinz ketchup remains the bestselling ketchup
selling 650 million bottles annually. From the tomato fields to productions, to Heinz ketchup factories
around the world, Heinz creates America s favorite ketchup. As a result, it takes organizational

customers around the globe. This document will examine the supply chain network and the
importance of operations management for Heinz Ketchup.
Heinz Ketchup Operations and Supply Chain Management Today, it is even more important for a
company to constantly identify and implement operational efficiencies to protect their margins. The
development of innovative supply chain strategies and operational management enables world leading
companies like The Kraft Heinz Company (Kraft Heinz) to provide functioning solutions for the needs
of the company. Conversely, consumer spending continued to receive downward pressure at checkout

Epicurus And Lucretius Essay
The circumstance of one s death determines the stature of the experience. The shared account of
Epicurus and Lucretius unravel the merit of death, in the Philosophy and Death. There shared view is
contrasted by the piece by Nagel. It is important to note that all three accounts are assuming the soul
ceases to exist when the body perishes. Epicurus explanation is centered around death being nothing
to humans, since the sense experience is deprived through death. This concedes, there is nothing in
death and this should encourage one to seek happiness in life the fear of death is irrational (Epicurus
164). Additionally, Lucretius furthers the point of Epicurus through his theory of the body and soul
being one and mortal, therefore, death is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nagel s account draws the most concerns. He believes life is intrinsically good which is not true
(Nagel 178). Many accept death over life, since life is embroiled with terminal illnesses which can be
the means of a life of pain. Consequently, his account can be determined as blissful ignorance with no
recognition to those with dysthymia, cancer, and other conditions which have no relational good.
Another flaw in his argument is his failure to recognize that deprivation can be favorable. To be
deprived of the evils in life can only be assumed as a good. Correspondingly, it is unreasonable to
claim all deprivation as evil, especially when using potential as an argument potential can be the
means for good or evil. Overall, the shared account of Epicurus and Lucretius contradicts the entire
account of Nagel through their conviction that what one does not experience has no effect on the
person. If a person does not have an awareness of the deprivation of potential, then it is not bad.
Neither views on death answer its question of status as good or bad. The circumstance in which the
person who dies is relevant to determine the principle of death. By the doctrine of Nagel, one is to
assume that life is intrinsically good, which under certain circumstances is clearly proven as a flaw
(Nagel 178). From the previous discussion about terminal illnesses and depression, there are times
where one sees

Comparing Sappho And Sufism
Though Sappho and Sufism originated from different cultures and different time periods their poetry
had many similarities. Sappho who was from the island of Lesbos in Greece and lived during the
seventh and sixth centuries BCE and Sufi poet Jalal ad Din ar Rumi who lived during the thirteenth
century CE and was from Balkh, Afghanistan, both wrote about the effects of love. Though they both
discussed love in general, Sappho often addressed the topic of mortal love in her poetry, and Rumi
addressed the topic of the love for one s God.

How Is King Arthur An Imperial Hero
There are many names attributed of one the legendary kings of Britannia. Most people know him as
Arthur Pendragon without knowing that he originally carried a different name, Lucius Artorius Castus.
This is the name that inspired the tales of Geoffrey of Monmouth centuries ago.
The recollections and inspiration of The Fall of King Arthur by J.R.R Tolkien can be compared to the
film King Arthur (2004), which presents a romantic side of the king we know now as Arthur . Other
important facts mentioned throughout this short investigative comparison were based on the article by

The poem narrates the adventures of Arthur and Gawain throughout a war campaign against the
Saxons. The campaign is eventually cut short due to the betrayal of Mordred, who tries to usurp
Arthur s kingdom. The movie portrays a far more romantic rise of the king, which should be compared
to the traditional legend.
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (1892 1973) was an English scholar, specializing in Old and Middle
English. He wrote a number of stories, including most famously The Hobbit (1937). Amongst his
literary works lies The Fall of King Arthur, a tale he never was able to finish.
The film King Arthur portrays Artorius Castus, a Roman cavalry officer, the son of a Roman father
and a Celtic mother, who commands a unit of Sarmatian auxiliary cavalry in Britain. The story begins
when Arthur loses his mother to a Celtic attack on his village and going to his father s grave to get his
sword called Excalibur. In this portrayal, Merlin is the leader of the Celt clan that rebels against to
Roman rule. The Once and Future Sword: Excalibur and the Poetics of Imperial Heroism in Idylls of
the King is an article that elaborates on one of the classic objects of the Arthurian legend Excalibur, an

Realism And The Impressionism Movement
Heavily influenced by the previous art era,, the Realism period, The impressionism period came to rise
in the earlier years of the nineteenth century. Impressionism focused mainly on the more modern
world, but specifically targeted in the more urban parts of Paris. Impressionism originated from a
group of French artists that created a style of art that was more likely for them to use. The subject of
an impressionist artist was primarily composed of contemporary landscapes and depictions of modern
art. Impressionists painted in a way that depicted light in the paintings as a form of movement.
Impressionism artist preferred to paint outdoors rather than inside, to focus on the landscape and
enjoyed to paint the everyday life of people. One of the more breakthrough artist during the
Impressionism movement was Camille Pissarro. Pissarro s style of art left a lasting impression on the
followers of the impressionist movement. Later in the nineteenth Century, the era of Post
Impressionism was introduced to the world. The post impressionism movement paved the way for the
development of more modern arts. The artwork of Post impressionism heavily rebelled against the
style and structure of impressionism. The style of the post impressionism movement was stressed
throughout the significant increase of emotion and focus on more symbolic subject matter compared
to the impressionism period. At first glance, the resemblance between The Goose Girl and The Rock,
is almost nonexistent.

Porter s Five Forces Of Competition Model In The Airline...
2.1 Industry environment
The industry analysis can be performed by evaluating the ability of all firms to operate profitably
within the airline industry. Porter s five forces of competition model is a perfect tool to perform such
analysis. The threat of new entrants is moderately high since President Carter signed the Airline
Deregulation Act in 1978, removing U.S Federal Government control over fares, routes and market
entry. Therefore, the industry has become less regulated and allowed many new firms to enter the
market. Thus, the airline industry requires a lot of capital investments which can disinterest some
investors. The bargaining power of buyers rests in the hands of the customers by reducing the price or
by asking greater levels of service. It is highly powerful because customers can easily switch to
another airline or even another transportation method. They also have the option to deal with a travel
agencies that will recommend the best airline according to their needs. The bargaining power of
suppliers is high because it is dominated by few large companies. Airbus and Boeing are two
manufacturers that have both created a duopoly for the past 15 years in the supply of aircraft (business
insider, 2017). The threat of substitute is very high, especially in short haul. There are many
alternatives to air travel such as driving, taking the train or the bus. The intensity of rivalry among
competitors is also high because there are numerous competitors selling a

  • 2. Rock And Roll Music Analysis Rock n Roll music is a subgenre of the meta genre, Rock. Freed (2009, 169) described it by saying, rock n roll is really swing with a modern name. Ennis (1992, 253) identifies, First, early rocknroll allowed every performer to draw on the full musical resources of pop, country, and rhythm and blues. and on rockhall.com (2014) his viewpoint is expanded upon, The more immediate roots of rock and roll lay in the so called race music, or rhythm blues, and hillbilly music, or county western of the Forties and Fifties. Other significant influences include blues, jazz, gospel, boogie woogie, folk and bluegrass. Rock n Roll drew inspiration from many different styles therefore it is a hybrid of multiple genres. The ultimate defining ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Generally, the time signature of Rock n Roll is 4/4, as it is in Pop, Country, Blues and many other genres that Rock n Roll is inspired by. For the purpose of Rock n Roll, we can assume the common time signature is 4/4 because it is simple and easy to move to. You didn t need to be a skilled dancer to dance to it, essentially why it was kept simple. Rock n Roll makes use of syncopation and as songs of this genre are usually in 4/4, the emphasis is on beats 2 and 4. Snowman (2009, 220) emphasises the importance of syncopation by saying, All dance music makes use of this, and it s often a vital element that helps tie the whole track together. All these ingredients combined helps create the energetic beat, arguably the most identified ingredient of Rock n Roll. Although the foundation of the beat is very similar to that of Rhythm and Blues, it is clear to see how Rock n Roll has built upon it, when we listen to the music. Initially, Rock n Roll songs were often just recreated versions of existing Rhythm and Blues songs. Big Joe Turner s song Shake, Rattle and Roll is a Rhythm and Blues song which Bill Haley and the Comets transformed into a Rock n Roll ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Underage Drinking Research Topics With an emphasis on underage drinking, the task has encouraged the researcher to conduct research on the topic in depth as well as the consequences both parents and children can face when underage drinking occurs. From this interest and an obvious issue in the wider society, the hypothesis Parents accept underage drinking as a norm in our society has been crafted. Summary Of The Help By Kathryn Stockett Differences do not divided people, it is the inability to accept these differences that divided people which often leads to adversity and obstacles for minorities, In the book The Help by Kathryn Stockett, African American maids face prejudice and hardships daily. This novel highlights the many conflicts people face during the civil rights movement in Jackson, Mississippi 1962. There is a big divide between the middle and lower class; most of the Black people live in poverty and work for white families, Aibileen and Minny are maids that work for white families, Eugenia Phlean is a white socialite who is pursuing a career as a writer. She is the only white person is Jackson who is trying to shed a light on the injustices these women face, she eventually has to turn against her racist friends (Holly Holbrook and Miss Leefolt). Eugenia was very close to her maid Constantine, she was closer to her then her own mother, but Eugenia stopped hearing from her while she was at college. When she came home from school, Constantine mysteriously disappeared and no one would tell her what happened to her. Later on, she finds out that Constantine left Jackson to give up her child for adoption because Constantine s father was white and her mother was black, so when she had a baby with a black man, her baby was white. if she kept her baby, the community would not accept them because she was black and her baby was white. After Constantine got in contact with her daughter and came back to Jackson, Skeeter s mom gave Constantine a choice; either cut ties with her daughter or she was fired, she choice to quit and later died, Eugenia had no knowledge about this because she was away in college, this motivated her to write a book about the lives of black maids, She understands that nothing is progressing in Jackson for civil rights, so she must do something, she states But then I realize, like a shell cracking open in my head, there s no difference between those government laws and Hilly building Aibileen a bathroom in the garage, except ten minutes worth of signatures in the state capitol (13.92). by this she means that racism is becoming worse. (Campbell, Stonehouse Houston, 2002:28¬) Substantial Stakeholders within a Business As mentioned earlier, stakeholders are individuals or groups of people who have a very large influence over the business. The major desirable stakeholders in any types of businesses are as follows: Shareholders who own a share of the company, in the hope of profit Suppliers, who provide the raw components for the business Customers who buy the products; services Employees who endeavour tasks within the business; are paid wages Lenders who are willing to lend money with the intention of receiving interest The government, who collect taxes from the business activity The importance of major stakeholders is moreover reinforced by David Boddy (2011:96) who argues that stake holders can influence considerable dominant managers, also the businesses which choose ignore stakeholders can be in danger of a decline in their business activity. • 6. Narrative Essay About Moving To Canada As I walked to the parking lot where my mom had arrived to pick me up from school, my sister ran out of the car, ran towards me and yelled excitedly, We re going to Canada! Having grown up in Kuwait for my whole life of 15 years, I could hardly believe my sister s words. Going to Canada! I had only been out of the country twice, each time just to vacation and visit family in the Philippines where both my parents are from. I had always imagined what life would be like outside of Kuwait, and now it was finally going to be real. My 15 year old self was devastated We were leaving the only home I had known for 15 years. It did not take long for my sisters excitement to die when we realized that we would be leaving our friends and everything we ve ever known and not returning for a long time. Life in Kuwait for 15 years was comfortable and we were more than financially stable. Moving to Canada without a job offer in place meant that we would have to start from the beginning all over again. Goodbyes were hard but my parents encouraged us to see the joys of moving to a place where we could start over and become accepted citizens of a country. Arriving in Canada, I experienced the biggest culture shock of my life. Vancouver, BC was cold, wet, and loud. I had thought adjusting would be relatively easy; I spoke English with a slight accent but I was very shy that it confused some of the other kids to think I couldn t speak English. I did not understand the culture, which took a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Finally, I will evaluate the final product and how it fit s in the modern music industry is it viable as an extension of further work. The initial aims of my project were to compose and record a six track EP with all the tracks mixed and master to a professional standard. I have met these aims to a very strong extent as I have managed to record all of the tracks to a professional level. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This process worked well for the first two songs I was able to send demo guides to the drummer taking his ideas opinions into account. This allowed me to ensure the drum parts were a song enough standard as composing drum parts is a big weakness. This meant the guitar and bass tracks were recorded to a click track meaning we could bank up song s and really nail the many intricacies of the guitar bass parts in the recording session. Recording without a drum guide meant the part had to be really energetic and solid this forced me and the guitarist to really focus in on what we were trying to play. once two or three songs had guitar and bass on them we would then bring in the summer to block recorded as many songs as ... Even kiddie flicks such as Toy Story 3 (2010) and Up (2009) make these tear filled lists. 3 These films must elicit strong emotional responses from their audiences but how is music used to accompany or even amplify these sob worthy motion pictures? This essay will survey a selection of six films known for their emotional impact and attempt to analyse what function music serves in their most devastating scenes. Aspects such as instrumentation and tempo will be explored as well as whether the music s tone agrees with that of the scene. Are the scores more effective if the music feels sad on its on terms? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Rose begins to understand Jack has died, there is very little extra diegetic sound. A gentle chiming can be heard which gives the scene a sense of the mystical. The calls of the rescue boat become muffled and slow: the shots of the boat are in fact in slow motion. When Rose fully understands that Jack has been completed refrigerated, we hear the sound of a female voice, accompanied by some gentle synths. The singer is performing a rendition of Rose and Jack s love theme, which has been developed throughout the film. This particular version of James Horner s theme is more bare than its other occurrences, which have been more heavily accompanied. Most of all, it is interesting that upon losing that relationship, music plays that was supposed to be representative of the strength of that relationship. The score, by association, is able to remind us of what has been lost the theme has collected their formative moments as their relationship grew throughout the film. Now there s a double edge to this because quite famously the love theme for Titanic became a hit single for pop singer Celine Dion. • 9. A Literary Analysis Of Esperanza Rising By Pam Muñoz Ryan Literary Analysis of Esperanza Rising To foreshadow events in books or to tell the meaning of a story, authors often use symbolism. Symbolism uses people, places, or things that have their own meaning, to express something different. The author of Esperanza Rising, Pam Muñoz Ryan, uses a certain fruit or vegetable to symbolize events of emotions that occur in the chapter. Three chapters in Esperanza Rising that represent an important part of the book are Los Higos, Las Cebollas, and Los Aquacates. In Esperanza Rising, figs, onions, and avocados symbolize a new beginning, the acceptance of starting anew, and the rewards followed after hardship. Los Higos, or figs, represent a new beginning, because of Esperanza s journey through the fig orchard. Mama and Esperanza execute their plan, in which they leave under the cover of darkness for California. During their trip, they walk through the fig orchard separating El Rancho de las Roses and Señor Rodriquez s ranch. When Esperanza turned around at the end of the fig orchard, She could see nothing behind her but a trail of splattered figs she had resentfully smashed beneath her feet. • 10. The Mind Is A Complex Part Of The Human Being That Can... The mind is a complex part of the human being that can elicit emotions, thoughts, and reactions that influence and mold an individual s personality and attitude. Culture, diversity, religion can also play a strong role in how an individual views the world. As well as how the individual was raised, what values were instilled, and various experiences in life. Between the attributes that are contained in the mind, a person s culture, values, and experiences in life are the sediment for a person s foundation. The attributes mentioned, cannot act alone to help an individual in how they will cope with various situations. Some individuals are reluctant to be resilient by accepting help and support when encountered by stressors, tragedies, or traumas in life. Others decide that they want to put on a brave face and do the best they can, yet do not communicate to anyone their problems. Consequently, this can lead for a person to repress feelings, and when they reach a breaking point emotions come out, can be of a great magnitude and dangerous. No doubt, the field of counseling and therapy is essential and beneficial to just about everyone. • 12. Setting And Symbolism In The Piano Lesson By August Wilson A haunting of the past In August Wilson s play, The piano lesson, the author takes his readers on a journey through the life of the Charles family. Sister and brother battle each other over a piano that tells their family s history. Through examining their history, Wilson uses setting and symbolism to convey his personal belief in the importance of one s ancestral family roots and the significant impact it has in a person s everyday life. The author uses setting to introduce the significance in the ancestry of the Charles family and further examine the troubling state of the current generation. Wilson grew up in a non wealthy colored district in which he set most of his plays (Fisher, James), so there is no surprise that Wilson s play has black roots that are relatable to his past ,also acting as salute to people of color (Gantt, Patricia). His strong connection to African American roots are why censors ,who have criticized Wilsons work, applaud him on his capability to make interesting characters and pull from African American folklore (Bloom, Harold), and in doing so, he shared much of his native craft and technique (Tracie, Guzzio). A man owns the Charles family, whose grandparents had ownership of his grandparents, and he happens to also be man who held the title of Robert Stutter (Bryer, Jackson R., and Mary C. Hartig, Wilson 1.2.8). In the play, a major flashback occurs on a slave plantation where the older Charles family must to pick cotton (2.1.7). The setting is critical to the family when it comes to the readers understanding of the present Charles s past, as their grandparents were slaves which in turn made life for the future generations a lot harder. Although Bernice lives in Pittsburgh (1.1.5), it is still hard for colored people to make a living and buy food from white only markets, so instead, their parents teach them things such as how to kill a chicken (2.2.10). Wilson uses setting to show that even though Bernice lives in a different environment than that of which her family roots originate, their individualities interrupt and cross within her own (Lise, Kidergurd), and the physical things, such as her skin color, still affect her present life. Although Bernice does not wish to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Productions and Operations Management Productions and Operations Management I The three categories of statistical quality control The three categories of SQC include the traditional statistical tools, acceptance sampling, and statistical process control (SPC). Traditional statistical tools are descriptive statistics like the mean and range, used to describe qualitative characteristics. Acceptance sampling is a process of taking a random sample or portion of a batch and deciding whether to accept or reject the whole batch. SPC is a process that uses samples to determine whether a process is functioning normally or not (Ryan, 2011). Traditional statistical tools describe the quality characteristics although they do not elucidate the extent of the quality (whether good or bad). Acceptance sampling determines whether an entire batch produced should be accepted or rejected after the goods have been produced. However, SPC tracks the process to ensure it is functioning properly for a given period. These tools can be used together effectively. Traditional statistical tools are used as inputs into SPC, which is updated frequently enough to ensure that quality problems are identified in good time. Finally, after a batch has been produced, acceptance sampling is used to determine whether the batch is of good quality or not. The statistical process control Statistical process control is a technique of controlling, monitoring, and improving processes via statistical analysis. The philosophy behind this tool holds that ... While excavating the great theatre in May of 1966, Wood found an inscription describing silver figures that were dedicated to the goddess Artemis. The inscription also mentioned a procession that would carry these objects to the temple on the goddess s birthday. Using this Wood realized that if he found the gates, the Magnesian Gate and the Coressian Gate, described in the passage he could find the location of the Temple of Artemis. He found the Magnesian Gate by the end of 1967 followed later by the Coressian (Jenkins, pg. 52). The temple itself was finally found by the end of 1869. Wood later published an account of the excavation, including what he thought what the temple may have looked like. In 1904, the site was revisited D. G. Hogarth and A. E. Henderson. They researched the temple s earlier history and determined that the site had three incarnations (Jenkins, pg. 53). The Artemision was built in the early Ionic style of Greek architecture, as can be seen from the columns. The columns were unusual as they had capitals that had large rosettes on them instead of the normal volutes. He expresses his experiences, thoughts and feelings in the short story, which further leads to the creation of the novel. Wrights expressions and ideas correspond to the events that occurred in the novel and I consider my thoughts compatible with fulfillment. The short story, How Bigger Was Born , is the foundation of the character Bigger Thomas and his told life. In How Bigger Was Born , Wright tells of a memory he has of something he once read. Lenin turned to Gorky and, pointing, said Here is their Big Ben. There is their Westminster Abbey. There is their library (page 5 paragraph 6). The significance of this memory is to demonstrate that the two men felt as though there were not living in a world of their own, they felt they were just a part of someone else s universe. This supports the novel because Bigger has similar feelings to the two men in Wright s memory. In a discussion between Bigger and Gus, they are talking about life and wondering what it would be like to not live on their side of the line. Bigger then goes on to state: They got things we ain t. They do things and we can t. It s just like living in jail. Half the time I feel like I m on the outside of the world peeping in through a knothole in the fence... (Wright 20). Throughout the decades, computers have gotten better, faster, and smaller. It s hard to imagine that before the 20th century almost all calculations were done by mechanical devices such as the electromechanical computers; or, the first digital computers that had huge tubes around them that you had to designate a whole room just to fit the computer in. Today we have Internet, phone book, pictures, videos, telephone, mail, and camera that is compacted into one tiny device that can fit in your pocket. Electromechanical Computers There was a big push for technological advancement during World War II in order to gain the upper hand in the war. The computers built during this time period were mainly electromechanical. The calculations were performed by electrical switches that signaled the mechanical operation. Konrad Zuse, German Computer Engineer, created Z2; one of the very first electromechanical relay computers. It used fixed point arithmetic with 16 bits2. This was an upgrade from the previous one he had made named the Z1. The Z1 had a 22 floating point bit, but was slower2. Therefore, Z2 was more desired because it could compile data quicker. Immediate treatment is usually an adjunctive therapy of NSAID s and Cold compression therapy. Controlling the inflammation is critical to the healing process. Cold compression therapy acts to reduce swelling and pain by reducing leukocyte extravasation into the injured area. NSAID s such as Ibuprofen/paracetamol work to reduce the immediate inflammation by inhibiting Cox 1 Cox 2 enzymes, which are the enzymes responsible for converting arachidonic acid into prostaglandin. However, NSAIDs, including aspirin and ibuprofen, affect platelet function and should not be taken during the period when tissue is bleeding because they will tend to increase blood flow, inhibit clotting, and thereby increase bleeding and swelling. After the bleeding has stopped, NSAIDs can be used with some effectiveness to reduce inflammation and pain. Mill was a philosopher who took the unusual stance that women should be considered equal to men in all respects and given the same opportunities as men. Nagel s account draws the most concerns. He believes life is intrinsically good which is not true (Nagel 178). Many accept death over life, since life is embroiled with terminal illnesses which can be the means of a life of pain. Consequently, his account can be determined as blissful ignorance with no recognition to those with dysthymia, cancer, and other conditions which have no relational good. Another flaw in his argument is his failure to recognize that deprivation can be favorable. To be deprived of the evils in life can only be assumed as a good. Correspondingly, it is unreasonable to claim all deprivation as evil, especially when using potential as an argument potential can be the means for good or evil. Overall, the shared account of Epicurus and Lucretius contradicts the entire account of Nagel through their conviction that what one does not experience has no effect on the person. If a person does not have an awareness of the deprivation of potential, then it is not bad. Neither views on death answer its question of status as good or bad.
