Two Different Philosophical Views in Grendel and Beowulf...
Beowulf and Grendel are two tales similar in many ways, yet different from each other. These stories
are like a coin; you cannot have one side without the other. Just as the sides of a coin share the same
coin, these stories share a similar plot, a setting, and tell of the same events. The sides of a coin also
have differences as do Beowulf and Grendel. In the case of these two tales this difference is in their
respective philosophical views. Beowulf portrays the philosophical views of life that many people still
regard today. Those views helped to shape and define the ideal Dane in their culture. For example, the
traits looked for among the Danes were honesty, bravery, and humility. These three requirements in
the Danes were but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to the Danes of Beowulf , Grendel searched for his very reason of existence by asking the
questions Why? and How? for answers. Grendel started off in the book struggling with finding
meaning in his life while watching the people clearly doing things that gave their lives meaning. He
became upset as he saw that he couldn t deter their spirits no matter what he did and started to feel
jealous of their self found purpose. He realized that through various ways the people attained meaning.
In response to his confusion over their self discovered purpose, Grendel started listening to the Shaper
s words when he spoke to the people shaping their very beliefs which confused Grendel even more on
the meaning of life. After listening to the Shaper for a while, readers can see Grendel in a state of
contradiction. He started off killing people as a simple, bestial monstrosity but in the end he is shown
as quite intelligent and capable of choosing whether to kill or not. Soon, Grendel started seeking
answers to his questions from a dragon. The dragon s very philosophy on life was that there is no
meaning of life which started to influence Grendel. Upon Grendel s persistent questions of Why? , the
dragon told him You improve them, my boy! Can t you see that yourself? You stimulate them! You
make them think and scheme...You are, so to speak, the brute existent by which they learn to define
themselves

Natural Law Theory, Positivism, And The Fugitive Slave Law
Since the spoken word, hundreds of philosophers have defined law in different ways. Philosophy
allows people to study the nature of people s beliefs which can differ over time. Not even the law is
exempt from the opinions of philosophers. Seeing law in different ways allows people to come to
different conclusions about legal cases. The Fugitive Slave Law was a controversial law in American
history, which allowed slave owners to capture their slaves who have fled north to free states. Once,
jurors tried a group of emancipators in Boston for helping an escaped slave flee to Canada. These
emancipators challenged the Fugitive Slave Law in United States v Morris. According to the Fugitive
Slave Law, helping an escaped slave is in violation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a law is not moral, thus it is not a law. Aquinas thinks this for there must be a moral reason to follow
a law. Thus, if a law does not have any moral reason for a person to follow the law, the law is unjust.
According to Aquinas, a sanction (a punishment) would not be a good enough reason to follow an
unjust law. The Fugitive Slave Law goes against the laws of nature. Humans have their own free will
and the law of nature never permits one human to claim another human. People are not property and
have their own free will. Obviously, morality says people are not possessions. One cannot approach a
person and say, I own you. It is not morally justifiable. To Aquinas the Fugitive Slave Law is not a real
law for the sake that the law does not follow morality. At the time of the Fugitive Slave Law, people
knew slavery was wrong; so, the jurors in Morris did conduct appropriately. As stated before, natural
law theory states a law requires morality. The jurors let the emancipators free since the Fugitive Slave
Law was against morality and natural law. The jurors did the morally suitable thing through the lens of
natural law theory since they were doing what morality said. Positivism, another attempt to answer
what the law is, leads to a similar outcome as the Natural Law theory which was that the jurors in
Morris did the right thing. John Austin discusses positivism in his book The Province of Jurisprudence
Determined. First, Austin defines

Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum
Details of the museum permanent collection of sculptures of the 70 year career of Detroit based public
sculptor Marshall M. Fredericks (1908 1998)
Viewed at the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum (September 5, 2014) The Marshall M.
Fredericks Sculpture Museum contains the artwork of the most prolific sculptors of the twentieth
century. Museum features a unique collection of more than two thousand works that span the 70 year
career of Detroit based public sculptor Marshall M. Fredericks (1908 1998). He is known nationally
and internationally for his impressive monumental figurative sculpture, public memorials, fountains,
portraits, and medals. The art gallery was full of sculptures that are all in white made by plaster. On
the walls, different kinds of sculptures were hung. Some of them were religious but most of them
reflect daily activities and some of them bring us into a world of imagination and dreams. As I walk
through the gallery looking at the sculptures I read information on the label attached to the sculptures.

Fredericks was commissioned to sculpt a 6 foot tall crucifix, but instead designed this 28 foot full
scale model, for a bronze to be placed at the Indian River Catholic Shrine in Indian River, Michigan.
The sculpture reminds me of church because it represents the crucifixion of Jesus. It had a facial
expression that reveals apparent emotions of pain and sadness. The size and placing of the sculpture
up on the wall is a dominant settling force for the eye, and it contrasts well with other sculptures
around it. The white plaster on the sculpture establishes a powerful element as a visual

Unfair Dismissal
t is important to distinguish unfair dismissal from the common law remedy for wrongful dismissal.
The latter is a civil law remedy essentially based upon breach of the contract of employment. From the
point of view of the employee, there are significant deficiencies in this civil law relief as a remedy.
Because an employer is generally entitled under the terms of the contract to dismiss upon giving the
appropriate period of notice as stipulated by the contract, damages will often be limited to the loss of
earnings during that period. The civil law does not provide for a remedy by way of reinstatement.
There is no remedy based upon breach of contract for failure to follow appropriate grievance and
disciplinary procedures prior to dismissal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the employee lost on further appeal when Lord Denning held that for there to be a
constructive dismissal, the employer s actions had to amount to a significant breach of the contract of
employment. This therefore applied a contractual analysis more akin to the civil law wrongful
dismissal approach. However, as will be seen below, cases of constructive dismissal are now regulated
by the statutory disciplinary and grievance procedures introduced by the Employment Act 2002 (EA
2002). It will be argued that these new requirements have the effect of tipping the scales too far in
favour of the employer in many cases. Fairness Section 98(4) of ERA 1996 defines this concept: the
question whether the dismissal is fair or unfair (having regard to the reason shown by the employer)
(a) depends on whether in the circumstances (including the size and administrative resources of the
employer s undertaking) the employer acted reasonably or unreasonably in treating it as a sufficient
reason for dismissing the employee, and (b) shall be determined in accordance with equity and the
substantial merits of the case. It should be noted, however, that s.34 EA 2002 inserted a new s.98A
into ERA 1996 which provides that breach by the employer of a statutory procedure on dismissal,
which sets down the minimum procedural requirements, means that the dismissal is in any event
automatically unfair. (The

Random Kindness Definition
Have you ever done something for a friend or just a random person in general? Well that is a random
act of kindness! A random act of kindness could be as simple as holding a door open, or helping
someone with groceries. Well yes those are very simple and they are not hard, but there are also just
more than that. Every day there are 30 percent of homeless people out on the streets wanting some
money. Some people are kind and give them money and food! Random acts of kindness are not just
for homeless people, they are for rich, poor, and maybe in the middle people too! Sometimes people
are so nice, they will pay for the people behind them in drive throughs. These little acts of kindness
can make everyone feel like a better person. In my

Great women of Islam throughout the ages and their contributions Throughout Islamic history and

Anti Warfare Counterinsurgency Manual Version
Sendero Luminoso is an insurgent organization whose goal is the seizure of power to implement
communism in Peru, to this end, it uses revolutionary violence (terrorism, sabotage and guerrilla
warfare). The 1989 Peruvian Army ME 41 7, Non Conventional Warfare Counterinsurgency Manual
version was the unique official military source that detailed the SL ideology, doctrine, organization,
structure, tactics, techniques, and procedures used by this terrorist group; however, SL has changed,
and the Peruvian Army does not release valid and official information. Nevertheless, 1989 ME 41 7
version mentioned that SL performs informational campaigns using agitation and propaganda,
developing mass agitation; distribution of brochures and flyers; mobilizing rallies and marches using
existing broadcasting bodies (newspapers, radio stations, TV., and others.) The Black Book of Sendero
Luminoso Insurgency (known as the Black Book) is one of the primary sources to analyze the SL
development from 2001 to 2008. This book mentions the SL tactics, procedures, and specific aspects
of their method of indoctrination. Forms of struggle are ambushes, assaults, selective annihilations,

Images Of War In All Quiet On The Western Front
The novel All Quiet on the Western Front has many images of war and truly demonstrates the horrors
the soldiers experienced. The author constantly provides surreal scenes that make the reader stop and
think about how terrible the war was. One image that lingers in my mind is from the beginning when
the young recruit lost his helmet and when Paul tried to help him and put it back on his head the boy
hugged him. War is happening all around them and Paul shows deep sympathy towards the young boy.
The reader cannot help but feel for the young boy and picture him just wanting the comfort of another.
Another surreal image that lingers in my mind is when Paul is on leave and loses all feeling and power
when he sees his sister and home. He starts

What Were The Similarities Between The Han And Roman Empire
The Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty were similar through trade because they both utilized the
silk road. The Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty were different in the areas of technology. The
Roman Empire developed several different innovations such as aqueducts and hypocaust along with
many others. The Han Dynasty developed silk, a secret their dynasties kept for a long time. Other new
technologies include paper, The Roman Empire had various technological innovations such as
aqueducts. The Romans were the first to build aqueducts. The system was much like a bridge built on

Silk became a symbol of high status. Most Romans were infatuated with silk and were willing to pay
and travel for it. Sea Roads transported bulk goods for everyone whereas the Silk Roads were limited
to luxury items for the wealthy. Merchants from the Roman Empire (Greeks, Syrians, and Jews)
established settlements in southern India and along the coast of East Africa. This created a longterm
cultural impact on trade. Most trade was taken by ship. Huge shipwrecks from the time of the Roman
Empire have been found by archaeologists. There was an extensive trade network to take produce to
the towns. The Empire can be seen as a system to take produce from the provinces to the city of
Rome. The Romans built straight, paved roads, such as the Via Appia in Italy. In Britain, Watling
Street ran from London to Wroxeter in Shropshire. It was a saying that all roads lead to Rome , and

Christianism And Paganism In Beowulf
Christianity vs. Paganism Beowulf is an epic poem combining different stories consisting of
contrasting elements, such as paganism and Christianity. Within these stories of Beowulf and the
followers of Beowulf, as well as the enemies, paganism actually played the role of the largest religion
practiced versus that of Christianity. The stories that make up this epic go by their own titles like, The
Wrath of Grendel, The Coming of Beowulf, The Battle with Grendel, The Monster s Lair, The Battle
with Grendel s Mother, The Last Battle, The Spoils, and The Farewell; all of these stories consist of
the comparing and contrasting of paganism and Christianity. Within each of these stories, Christians
take on the emotions and behaviors of paganism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Coming of Beowulf came along in another story line of this epic; Beowulf and the geats, in other
words Vikings, and Christian followers go against the vicious beast, Grendel. Grendel represents
something evil (Vengeance). Grendel, aside from Grendel s mother, represents some of the most
bloodthirsty pagan components within Grendel s own unjust existence. The geats, on the other hand,
did have pagan elements within their hearts and personalities such as, greed and boastful elements as
well as hatred towards the darkness at which Grendel contained. In empathizing with their hatred for
Grendel, it still shows their dark side which seems hypocritical on their parts considering the largest
pagan element out of all of these epics contains the darkest emotion, hate. Christians, even in these
days, try to steer clear of hatred towards one another, but in this particular epic hate consumed even
the Christians. The Bible says to pray for the enemies because the enemies happen to need it the most
but the geats did not follow this rule of the Christian religion; rather allowed consumption of the
elements that make up paganism. The Battle with Grendel, once again this vicious and dark beast had
set out on a journey back to Herot, yet this time Grendel meets the unexpected; yet a match. Grendel is
referred to as a descendant of Cain: the hostile hearted creature, Gods enemy, guilty of murder (Little).
Grendel s evil soul has taken a

mechanism to address costs. Since the Beltline is a multi use trail, revenue can be received from
easements, leaseholds, purchases, contractual agreements and land swaps (Alex Garvin Associates,
Inc., 2004). More specifically, a proven effective alternative mechanisms to finance park operations
includes lease payments, fees, real estate taxes, sales tax, and Community Improvement Districts
(CIDs) (Alex Garvin Associates, Inc., 2004). Currently, Atlanta has nine CIDs (Alex Garvin

concessions such as festivals, snack bars and newsstands.
In conclusion, the BeltLine Emerald Necklace is a project that is sustainably good for the environment
and the bottom line. The payback period for the investment on this project includes the initial
investment up till the TAD and ARC s funding becomes available. Moreover, this investment is not
only sustainable for the environment but also the community. It would also be good for business by
adding more train stops and accessibility to a greater population in Atlanta. Furthermore, this project

Analysis Of Ben Jonson s Ode To Shakespeare
This week s lecture is focused on Ben Jonson, his love hate relationship with Shakespeare, his lyric
poetry, Jonson s purpose, Jonson s life, and Volpone . Jonson was constantly compared to Shakespeare
which is often deemed as unfair. Sadly. Jonson was always second best even though they were two
different people with different writing styles, temperament, artistic interests, etc.. However, this could
be due to working around each other and always being in the same surroundings. There were times
when Jonson would hint at Shakespeare in his work but would often try to make Shakespeare look bad
in order to boost his ego. In my opinion, I do not blame Jonson for doing this because he was tired of
being compared to someone who was around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, I think it was wonderful that Jonson was able to achieve this because I am sure after
being compared to Shakespeare constantly that he needed something that he could call his own
achievement.
Next, Jonson s purpose was didactic. Didactic is defined the intent to teach or lecture others while
having a moral instruction as one s ulterior motive. Jonson was seen as a public poet. I believe his
used his poetry to teach others his neo classical virtues. He believed his poems could be used as
examples to introduce people to wisdom, honesty, and his version of a good life. In my opinion, I
think that Jonson s poems could be used as a template to show people how to live a better life or to
show the moral of the story. I think he was trying to teach others to embrace a good moral standing.
One could say that his ulterior motive was to teach people ethical principles and artistic standards
because he believed that someone of his standing should feel responsible to show others that they
should follow these rules. However, Jonson believed that his purpose was to defined the good life but
according to the lecture this would mean that Jonson would have to discover his self knowledge and
that it would have to be constant.
Next, Ben Jonson was born in London around June of 1572. Although, his father died two months
before his birth, Jonson was able to attend Westminster School but only for a short time. Afterwards,
he decided to follow in his stepfather s footprints

Consumer Behaviour Notes
Chapter 1
Read pages 4 6 and 22 for digital revolution
Consumer behaviour is defined as the behaviour that consumers undertake in seeking, purchasing,
using, evaluating and disposing of products and services that they expect will satisfy their personal
needs.
Personal and organisational consumers (page 9)
The personal consumer buys good and services for his or her own use, for use by the whole
household, for another member of the household or as a gift for a friend.
In all these contexts, the goods are bought for final use by individuals, who are referred to as end users
or ultimate consumers .
The organisational consumer includes profit and non profit businesses, public sector agencies and
institutions, all of which buy products, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Targeting is selecting one or more of the segments identified for the company to pursue.
Positioning is developing a distinct image for the product or service in the mind of the consumer, an
image that will differentiate the offering from competing ones and squarely communicate to
consumers that the particular product or service will fulfil their needs better than competing brands.
Chapter 2
Mass marketing is offering the same product and marketing mix to all consumers.
Repositioning is accomplished by changing the promotional appeal, the distribution strategy or the
price, based on the characteristics of a new segment or changing characteristics of the existing
segment.
Bases for segmentation page 35 onwards
The first step in developing a segmentation strategy is to select the most appropriate base(s) on which
to segment the market.
Geographic segmentation the market is divided by location (state, region, location, housing density,
and climate).
Demographic segmentation refers to the identifiable and measureable statistics of a population (age,
sex, marital status, income, occupation and education). Demographic information is often the most
accessible and cost effective way of identifying a target market. Demographic doesn t define why.
Psychological segmentation focuses on the inner or psychological characteristics of consumers. It
refers to intrinsic qualities of the individual consumer, and such consumer

Where this online phenomenon has low entry barrier that attracts potential competitors, eBay s
position in the dynamic market is definitely threatened. Where consumers are more demanding and
has access to latest information, eBay must stay focus and responsive to customers needs and wants,
monitoring its business structure closely to ensure sustainability. 2) Over Diversification As
mentioned, focus is crucial. John Donahoe made a mistake by overly diversifying its resources and
core business. A β€—strategic misfit has occurred, such that eBay has never been able to meaningfully
integrate Skype, an online communications service, that failed to produce intended results of
integrating eBay s core operations and its inability to capture the synergy that justifies the acquisition.
As a result, Skype s ownership was speculated to be transferred to either Microsoft or Google.
Difficulty in finding a long term solution to increase growth in its core market during a global
economic slowdown would eventually leads to a dramatic erosion of eBay s core customer base and
the company also faces deficiency of innovative capabilities. 3) Incompetency of CEO John Donahoe
s management capability has been judged as β€—a miserable debacle that is getting worst day by day by
one of his employees. A website that allows employees to rate their CEO fell to 22%. Apparently, not
even 1 in 3 eBay employees is happy with Donahoe s position in eBay as they have doubts on his

Folic Acid Essay
Folic Acid is a B vitamin, specifically B9. It is an essential nutrient required by the body to create
healthy new cells. While we hear about it mostly in regards to pregnancy, it is important to understand
that the need for folic acid goes even beyond this. Folic acid is essential for the body to create red
blood cells which in turn prevents anemia. It is also plays an important role in the metabolism of
homocysteine, an amino acid.
The recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for all men and women 14 and older is 400 mcg. Men
often don t realize this as the benefits to pregnant women are more publicized, but any human being is
in need of proper amounts of folic acid to insure the body is able to create new red blood cells to

Folic acid plays many important roles in the body. There is no doubting that it is essential. The reason
that we need a constant stream of it is because it is not stored in large quantities in the body. It is water
soluble. Fat soluble vitamins are stored for longer in our system. When ingested, the body uses what it
can and the rest comes out in urine, in very little time the body will need more. We discussed how
pregnant women get a proven benefit, and studies continue on its role in reducing risks of other
diseases, but regardless of what additional benefits are found, it is clear that without folic acid in our
bodies, we would not be alive. Folic acid aids in the production of red blood cells and the synthesis of
DNA and RNA. Folate even has a role in the digestive system! It works with vitamins B12 and C to
help the body digest and synthesize proteins. Lastly, folic acid helps tissues grow and cells function, it
is an integral part of the body working as it should.
You might wonder what would happen if you stopped consuming folic acid in the form of
supplements or foods. One consequence that is quite likely under these conditions is folate deficiency
anemia. This type of anemia occurs when red cell production slows and the body no longer has a
sufficient amount. Without enough red blood cells, oxygen cannot travel around the body quick
enough. In a severe form, where the body is not making

The Music And Arts Festival
Go with the flow I have been to multiple concerts before but nothing compares to the Resonance
Music and Arts Festival, a weekend long camp out of like minded, motived, music loving individuals.
In simpler terms, modern day hippies. These hippies focus more on medication, dancing, and yoga as
a way to reach the ultimate state of joy. The people around me, the clothing they wore, the smell of
weed that filled the air, and the music that blared through the speakers were all things I will never
forget about that summer weekend. The life style of hundreds of individuals in a crowd was different
from anything I had ever laid my eyes on. Although I never imagined to be in a new environment, I
had no choice. I My dad works for Budweiser, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Suddenly I could not take my eyes off what was in front of me. Hammocks were hung from trees and
even hung from car mirrors. There were hippies sleeping in, and on their cars. I saw people cooking
on small grills, selling food right from the trunk of their car. A simple sign that read, Fish tacos. I was
memorized by all the booths that lined the entrances of Legend Valley. People sold paintings, jewelry,
tie dyed bags, shirts, skirts, and head bands. I made my dad stop at one booth because I saw a dress
that I absolutely loved. It was priced at $30. When I paid for my purchase the woman expressed how
grateful she was that I was buying her clothing because that is how she made a living. She told me the
story of how she lives in her car, and travels to these festivals. I felt sad for a brief moment until I
realized this was her calling and she was truly happy. It inspired me to appreciate the little things that
surround me.
Also there were hundreds of tents on the opposite side of our camper, each one a bright color with
some article of tie dye draped over it. In front of the tents sat chairs, empty. I asked my dad, Where is
everyone? He just chuckled and said, You ll see them when we attend the concert.
When we made our way back to the camper, there was a car full of young modern day hippies parking
next to us. My eyes wondered to each

Alliteration In Ozymandias
Ozymandias is believed to be more powerful than the Gods themselves. Ozymandias is an iambic
pentameter sonnet with imagery, alliteration, irony, and symbolism. He thinks highly of himself as the
King of Kings and he believes he is the ruler of great and vast lands, but the poem reveals nature and
time has overcome him and his kingdom, leaving behind ruins of him, and lone and level lands around
him full of emptiness. The author is vivid with his uses of imagery in this poem. He is very descriptive
of the pieces of the statue, and the ruins of the wreck. Half sunk, a shatter d visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command, this is a good example of Shelley describing the statue s
ruins using imagery. Here is another example of the imagery use for the wreck and the lands
surrounding, Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare, The lone and level sands stretch far away. He
used imagery in a way to put the reader in the story and really understand where he was at the time. ...

Ozymandias was broken into pieces as if he were dead, the note shows his passions still live on. It also

Edm On A Global Scale
EDM on a Global Scale
One of the benefits and reasons why people are so interested with EDM is that it is widely available
on the internet. YouTube channels, Facebook pages, websites, and every digital medium available is or
has been a location for popular EDM to be socially active with viewers. This allows songs to gain
prevalence in different areas of the world with out the geographic locations impeding their connection.
Each geographic location also has their own cultural signature to EDM, influences usually point to
past cultural movements or famous music that came out of the area. For example Avicii, a Swedish
electronic musician, DJ, and producer, created a song, Malo which contained Spanish lyrics and
created a large listener base that was in the country of Spain. EDM has the ability to be produced with
an audience in mind. This is mainly because artists have the means of customizing a sound or song for
a group of people just by recreating the ideas and music of movements within that geographical
location. By using similar sounds and rhythms, EDM artists are able to capture the true nature of a
country s signature. EDM is a global and social community that is unlike a music genre ever seen
before. Almost instantaneously, people of world can find and listen to exactly what EDM they want to
hear. People can communicate to each other about the music and share the ideas of the art in a quick
and boundless fashion. While remixing has been around for decades, the term

Abstract Of Artificial Intelligence
Abstract Artificial Intelligence otherwise known as AI, it is the development and the theory of some
computer systems which are able to undertake certain tasks which will normally need the intelligence
of humans. The tasks that are normally in need of the human intelligence are the likes of translation of
languages, making decisions recognition of speech among others. Good examples of these
technologies that fall under the AI are; augmented reality, Virtual Assistants, and robots. On the other
hand, employee productivity can also be called workforce productivity. Productivity is evaluated in
terms of the output of employees within a given time. A Lot of US multinational have embraced the
use of this technology as it has been touted as leading to some financial benefits(Bobrow,2005). My
research is limited to American multinational corporations like Amazon and Google. American
Multinational Corporations using AI Technology Many of tech companies and organization are putting
into use the AI technologies that are made up of the robots, augmented reality and even the virtual
assistants. Recently there was a report that was undertaken by Accenture in 12 nations and it showed
that AI that is able to sense the environment has the ability to know what is happening to lead to the
taking of an action. All these would, later on, lead to the rise in the levels of productivity to sales of
40% in the year 2035.The report goes on to show that once AI is well utilized, there will

Fieldwork findings: Discussion
Pupil premium:
One core theme that derives from the fieldwork frequently is pupil premium. All respondents were
asked, which policy if any, would you say has been the most effective at promoting educational
attainment among pupils from economically deprived areas? (Question 4). All respondents answered
pupil premium as being the most effective policy. Respondents A, B and D all argued that the extra
funding helped to promote education attainment among pupils from economically deprived
backgrounds through more staff, additional facilities and funds for students. The data drawn from
table 4.2 supports earlier literature on pupil premium.
As previously stated, this extra funding ensures that schools with deprived pupils enroled have enough
resources as tools to succeed in education. Relating back to Table 4.2, respondents A and D both state
funding for staff, this is further supported by Carpenter et al (2013) who argue that the policy
contributes highly to additional staff and teachers have perceived this to be very effective. This is
particularly relevant to aim 3, on the outcomes of policy as additional staff contribute to promoting
educational attainment because it offers deprived pupils with additional support and guidance.
A concern is drawn from the fieldwork by respondent B and C, this ... Show more content on

Cellobiase produced more product when placed at the right temperature and pH. These experiment
also showed how the simplest change in any environmental factor could cause a change in function of
the enzyme. This experiment was a good source to show the effects of environment on enzyme
activity. The amount of product produce could be monitored by the amount of p nitrophenol present,
which couldn t be done with using Cellobiose. Factor that could have been improved would have been
testing the rate of reaction at a longer time then 2 minutes and at more enzyme/substrate
concentrations. The data produce from the enzyme and substrate concentration parts never showed
where the reaction reached Vmax. The most important factor of this experiment was the ability to use
the artificial substrate, it allowed the experimenter to visual see before measuring the absorbance if
product was made from substrate. It correlated that absorbance may be a direct measurement of
enzyme activity because in every experiment as the concentration of product (p nitrophenol and
glucose) increase so did the absorbance. Since these were the only experiments done that was the only
conclusion that could be constructed. Since absorbance can t be measured with colorless enzymes and

The Revolution Of Nicaragua s Society
The Nicaraguan Revolution from 1927 to 1979 was critical in the reconstruction of Nicaragua s
society. In an already turmoil filled Latin America, this revolution reshaped how Latin American
countries dealt with foreign occupation while helping the country form an identity[JLW1] . In
Nicaragua, the people were confronted with a war against the United States and resisting the Somoza
regime. They had to overcome these obstacles in an attempt to finally establish peace in society.
However, their journey towards peace was only complicated by political stratagems by western
powers for Cold War supremacy; in other words, Nicaraguans were not only at war with themselves
but also with western expansion. The United States government s obsession with halting the spread of
communism and controlling Latin American countries propelled the revolution to new heights.
Although his revolution has always had a unique place in Latin America history, this topic is still
rather unknown. There has always existed an extensive supply[JLW2] of records on the revolution but
it wasn t until the late 1970 s to the early 1980 s [JLW3] when political historians started to write
about it. Overall, most historians were intrigued by the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN)
and wrote extensively on United States occupation leading up to the revolution. Many Latin American
historians focused on the political ideologies of Augosto Sandino and his revolutionaries. Specifically,
how Sandino s

Pressure Ulcer Prevention Essay
Pressure Ulcer Prevention in the Acute Care Setting Pressure ulcers are localized wounds to the skin
that are also known as decubitus ulcers, or are known by the colloquial term bed sores. They are
common occurrences in healthcare that result from injuries to the skin and the tissues beneath it when
the patient remains in one position for long periods of time. Pressure ulcers are typically located over
an area with a bony prominence that then causes pressure on the skin. Pressure ulcers are especially
common in individuals in extended care facilities, but can occur even in an acute setting. Pressure
ulcers, in fact, can develop in just 24 hours, although they may not be apparent to healthcare providers
until up to 7 days later (Truong, Grigson, Patel, Liu, 2016). For immobile or relatively immobile
patients, pressure ulcers are one of the most serious problems that can occur, because they can result
in infections or other complications, and decrease the quality of life. As an example, a prospective
cohort study conducted in Brazil found that pressure ulcers could harbor multi drug resistant bacteria
that conferred a mortality rate of 100 percent (Braga, Brito, Filho, Filho, Ribas, 2016) and that were
able to spread to other patients in the form of infected pressure ulcers or other hospital acquired
infections. The subject ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why Is Paul Mccartney Dead
Is Paul McCartney dead? That is the question. Paul McCartney, the bassist for the Beatles, continues
today to do amazing live performances, make public appearances, and inspire thousands of people
with his music, however is this face of Paul actually him? A theory exists that Paul McCartney passes
away in a tragic car accident back in 1966, before Sargent Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band was
organized. Some Beatlemaniacs struggle with this Paul is Dead theory to this day. So, is Paul dead?
This conspiracy theory was well explained by allthatsinteresting.com. They explained:
In 1966 Paul McCartney was in a fatal car crash. But the band must go on, so the remaining members
of the Beatles covered up his death by hiring a replacement. Still, known for their witticism and being

Bruce Sprizer of beatle.net explained that McCartney admitted that one the of members of the band
dying was planned out meticulously by the group and their manager. According to Sprizer, their
manager thought that Paul would be the least likely to plan his own death. John Lennon, another band
member, denied the existence of clues hidden in one of their primary albums Sargent Pepper s Lonely
Hearts Club Band . According to Time Inc., in Sargent Pepper there are lyrics throughout the point to
Paul s death including He blew his mind out in a car and Paul is dead, miss him, miss him. Some of
these lyrics were, according to believers in the myth, audible backwards or just barely, regardless of
both Lennon and McCartney denying it. If just words from the mouth of Paul and the other band
members aren t enough, there is no proof from insurance or legal authorities about a car accident
involving Paul in 1966. One occurred the next year with his car but he wasn t even in the vehicle and

The Theory Of Evolution Within Tennessee Public Schools
On March 13, 1925 the state of Tennessee passed the Butler Act. This law prohibited teaching the
Theory of Evolution in Tennessee public schools. Any teacher who taught a theory that denied the
story of the Divine Creation would be punished by a fine. The American Civil Liberties Union offered
legal defense to any Tennessee teacher who would break the law and fight it in court. John Thomas
Scopes was a teacher in Dayton, Tennessee, and he intentionally taught his class about the theory of
evolution, which led to his arrest and trial. John Thomas Scopes trial began on July 10, 1925, and I
watched as the trial unfolded. The famous Clarence Darrow defended Scopes and Williams Jennings
Bryan was leading the prosecution. Williams Jennings Bryan had run as the Democratic presidential
candidate three times, and he was the fundamentalist hero. After a few days of the trial, many
spectators and reporters flocked to Dayton. I watched as the Dayton s streets became more and more
crowded and I saw many preachers with revival tents, who taught how the Theory of Evolution went
against the Divine Creation of man. The streets had become a carnival and everyone knew what was
going on in Dayton, Tennessee because of the revolutionary radio. Right outside of the courthouse,
there were two chimpanzees dressed in plaid suits entertaining the public with their antics around the
lawn. Not only where their preachers and reporters, but people on the streets selling hot dogs,

Using Mixed Methods For A Mixed Method Design
Mixed methods are a combination of both qualitative and quantitative data. According to Sherperis,
most researchers define themselves as either a qualitative or a quantitative researcher (Sherperis, C. J.,
Young, J. S., Daniels, M. H. (2010). Although it seems that combining the two would be a win win
situation for the researcher as both sides are considered, it is important that there is trustworthiness
and that coding is done appropriately. Having said this, it is important that whatever research method
is used, the method must be valid Laureate Education (Producer). (n.d.). Using a mixed methods
design allows for research to be broader, vast, and have more depth (Sherperis et al., 2010). When
conducting research, it has also been mentioned that Sherperis that although researches define
themselves as one or the other (qualitative or quantitative) it is not necessary to do so. When
performing a mixed methods design, one must think about how they wish to go about this research. It
is imperative to be informed so that there are no issues with validity of the research. Cresswell (1999)
has suggested the following prior to partaking in research using mixed methods 1) Determine the
order in which you will implement the qualitative and quantitative data of your study, 2) Determine
the weight that will be given to the quantitative and qualitative data, 3) determine how the two types
of data will be mixed/combined, and 4) determine the theory that will guide your design

In order to will, one must have a judgment about what to do and the power to choose in accordance
with that judgment. This power to choose is provided by the will. The will is not to be identified with
the last judgment of the understanding nor is a volition caused by a judgment. Those, like Hobbes,
who thought so were guilty of basic philosophical errors. If they maintained that the content of the

moral motive with the physical efficient, the physical efficient being the element of the cause that

French culture
Culture refers to the union of knowledge, experience, learning, beliefs, attitudes, values, meanings,
hierarchies, religion, notions of time, roles, spatial relations, concepts of the world, and material
objects and possessions acquired by a group of people in the course of generations through individual
and group striving.
The culture of France is diverse, reflecting regional differences as well as the influence of recent
immigration. France has played an important role for centuries as a cultural center, with Paris as a
world center of high culture.
Philosophy
France has produced a large number of leading philosophers in the European humanist tradition. One
of the first was Montaigne, in the 16th century, an inspired moralist who established the essay as an art
form. Then came Descartes, the master of logic, and the philosopher Pascal.
Writers of France
Writers and intellectuals traditionally enjoy high prestige in France. One of the most august of French
institutions is the Academie francaise, whose 40 members, most of them writers, have pronounced on
national events and, on occasion, held public office.

Differences Of Myths
It can be seen that every culture have historical stories associated with their origin that have been

called as myths. These stories mostly consist of a superman like character that breaks all logic and
rules of nature. According to me, History is a concern which raises a number of issues in factual way
where sources come from primary sources or objective secondary sources. History is considered as an
accurate guide to the past which is read to explain, analyze and describe the truths of the past. On the

Impact of the Bourgeoisie on Exploration During the Age of Discovery
Thesis: Most people believe that The Age of Discovery was the product of a handful of adventurous
explorers. They were an important part of this Age, but theirs was not the main motivation. I believe
however, that the Bourgeoisie provided the impetus of this Age.
The Bourgeoisie, a social class most distinct from the rest, remains one of the most influential
economic leaders throughout Europe during the Age of Discovery. Exploration and newfound wealth
drove this class into being so powerful that their presence threatened the Aristocracy and social strata.
Let it be known that the drive behind the bourgeoisie was not centered as much on religion as it was

Records describe the self made man society, the Bourgeoisie along with Nobility and the Proletariat.
The ancient Bourgeoisie made up the middle section of merchants who carried on commerce. The
presence of the Bourgeoisie is shown by the law code of the Babylonian king, Hammurabi (2067 2925
BC), which has numerous provisions dealing with merchants and the carrying on of commerce (Palm,
8). Egypt prospered and had a really energetic Bourgeoisie. Thebes became the main metropolis; the
main center for trade. Phoenicia rather than Egypt became the top Bourgeoisie State of the ancient
world. The citizens demonstrated progress in domestic manufacturing, ship construction, foreign
colonization, and general commerce. Exchanging and receiving products of the East and West, they
visited most parts of the world.
Increased competition arose by Greece, Arabia, Lyons, and Asia Minor, not to mention Babylon and
Mesopotamia. Phoenicia still tried to keep her status; for the Phoenicians had great knowledge of
navigation and geography. The Greeks tried to destroy Phoenicia s control, acquiring commercial and
industrial interests that quickly changed as trade with foreign lands rapidly expanded. The business
classes were now obtaining great wealth. The Bourgeoisie business class sometimes became so
powerful that occasionally revolted against the Aristocracy within their own city states. To please the
Bourgeoisie, the Aristocracy would arrange a new classification of the

A Brief Biography of Walt Disney
Walt Disney was more than just the creator of the Disney Company. Walt Disney made theme parks,
animations, screenplays, and other businesses. He was a very influential icon in the 1900 s for his
works that impacted all walks of life. He had a 64 year life full of glory but eventually he died from
chain smoking complications. (He was never seen smoking in public though.) Walt Disney was one of
the most influential entertainers in the 1900 s for his numerous awards, his work in popularizing
animation, and his use of propaganda to attract all age groups. Walt Disney has a timeless appeal,
which is what makes him so influential throughout the 1900 s and beyond.
Walt Disney was born on December 1st, 1901, in Chicago. His family was not very into education so
Disney wasn t educated formally until he was ten. His first job was delivering newspapers with his
brother. As a teenager, he had visions to follow in his family s footsteps and join the army. He got
rejected from the army so he decided to join the Red Cross. After serving for a year, he moved to
Kansas in order to start his artistic career. He wanted to be an actor at first, but he decided that he
would enjoy drawing comics much more. Disney then created his laugh o gram studio, and his life
took off from there. Walt Disney was successful, and he had more than just money to show for it. He
is the most decorated academy award winner ever. His first award is best short which he won for his

Essay On Epicurus
Epicurus was an ancient Greek philosopher and the founder of the school of philosophy known as
Epicureanism.
In Epicurus philosophy, the purpose of life is to attain happiness through peace and freedom from fear.
Epicurus believed that the universe is eternal, life is the final being; there is nothing call life after
death.
8 Lessons from Epicurus Philosophy
Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was
once among the things you only hoped for. Epicurus
I can relate this with mindfulness living, living in the present moment, without the worries of the
future. It is our tendency to look for the desires that we don t have in our life, but often this tendency
leads us to the door of unhappiness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is not because that they made a bad judgment or they made a lot of mistakes, but because we lack
peace in ourselves, in our soul. A soul that is complete and living without any worries has fewer
chances to be angry with others, as he knows that anger is not a way to protest, it is just a sign of
weakness.
Let no one be slow to seek wisdom when he is young nor weary in the search of it when he has grown
old. For no age is too early or too late for the health of the soul. Epicurus
One of my favorite Epicurus lessons is the above one, as it suggests us to make a little change in our
lifestyle. It gives us a hint that the source of happiness and completeness of our soul comes from our
thoughts, the way we produce it if you decide to renounce your gossip tendencies and replace it with
higher thoughts if you talk about the philosophy in place of food, assets, and gadgets.
You don t develop courage by being happy in your relationships everyday. You develop it by surviving
difficult times and challenging adversity. Epicurus
Difficulties are the lessons that teach us how to face adversities in our life, happiness never able to do
that, as like failures are the Stair to claim success. A man who always lived in luxury will never be
able to praise small happiness, as it would be hard for him to recognize

Summary And Symbolism In John Collier s Annunciation
Christian artwork is used to represent and symbolise the Gospel and important figures. Not all
individuals could read and write, therefore images were very important in delivering messages and
teachings. One artwork chosen is Annunciation by John Collier created in 2003. This modern artwork
shows Gabriel asking Mary if she would become the mother of Jesus. The other one is the Holy Night
Nativity Scene by Antonio Correggio created in 1530, which focuses on and sets the scene of Jesus
birth.
The Annunciation displays the moment Gabriel was sent by God to tell Mary she would become
pregnant. This is present in the passage God sent angel Gabriel to a virgin and he said to Mary God
has a surprise for you: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son and call his name Jesus (Luke
1:26 33).
The artwork depicts Mary as a very young and innocent women, which is aided by her modern school
inspired dress.
In the background, there are houses of a 21st century style of living in the suburbs, making the setting
familiar and relatable and allows the audience to feel connected to Mary. Therefore, the emotions and
thoughts of Mary is as she comprehends Gods wishes can be further understood. ... Show more

In the artwork, lilies are displayed to symbolise motherhood, which Mary is about to embark on and
also symbolises purity and faith. The dove on the roof of the neighbor s house represents the Holy
Spirit, showing that God is looking over her, awaiting her response. This is displayed in scripture as
the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form, like a dove (Luke 3:22). Mary is also holding the book
Prophet Isaiah which states that a virgin will conceive a child. This foreshadows the events about to
unfold. Under Mary s feet, there is a welcoming mat which symbolises that Mary will welcome
Gabriel s news and the path God has chosen for her with open

The Use Of Electroencephalographic ( Eeg ) Signals For...
Introduction
This thesis is devoted to an investigation of the use of electroencephalographic (EEG) signals for
biometric person recognition. The traditional ways of access control include using token based
identification systems, such as a driver s license or passport, and knowledge based identification
systems, such as a password or personal identification number [1]. Biometric person recognition,
however, relies on human physiological and/or behavioural characteristics for establishing identity. A
range of such distinctive, measurable characteristics can be used have been successfully used to
recognize individuals. Biometric modalities/identifiers are considered to be unique to individuals: they
may be more reliable in verifying identity than token and knowledge based methods [1].
One limitation of the specially designed database is the number of subjects included for data capture
using the low cost sensor system. The self collected database contains 27 subjects with recordings
from multiple sessions made on different days, which may still not be large enough to justify the
statistical significance of the obtained results. Furthermore, due to the quality of the data from the low
cost sensor, it can be predicted that with the number of subjects further increasing, the recognition
performance of the EEG biometric system tends to reduce.
Electroencephalography (EEG) is a recording of the electrical activities of the brain along the scalp,
which is generally considered

The Sniper Literary Analysis
What of revenge? Is it appropriate? If yes, is it only appropriate in some cases? These four literature
selections could help one find their answer. The Sniper is a short story written by Liam O Flaherty
about the civil war in Ireland and the revenge incorporated in it. The Cask of Amontillado was written
by Edgar Allen Poe, who tells the story of a man consumed by revenge. A Eulogy for Martin Luther
King, Jr. describes the want and need for forgiveness and is given by Robert F. Kennedy. Of Revenge
is an essay telling of the glory of remission and forgiveness from Sir Francis Bacon. It is not
appropriate to take revenge because there are better consequences with forgiveness and revenge does
damage to others and yourself. To begin, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is may be true for some individuals, but the benefits of forgiving are greater. A weight can lift off
one s shoulders when they choose to forgive someone of a debt or wrong doing. They will not hold a
grudge anymore and that dark presence in their life can disappear. Revenge still won t satisfy justice
because it will just continue as a never ending cycle. The one that takes revenge will only be paid back
with a revenge in return. The cycle of grudges and violence will never end until someone forgives.
Whatever reasons people may use to validate revenge, they must face the truth that forgiveness is
always a better

What Caused The Egyptian Revolution
Our freedom is not up for negotiation. (Mohamed ElBaradei). The Egyptian Revolution was a battle to
take back rights that had been taken away for nearly thirty years.Socially, the main causes were a lack
of human rights, and poor living conditions.Economic changes also promoted the development of
protests. Political leaders were unjust, provoking citizens to create an uproar of resistance. The
Egyptian Revolution has had many harsh social, destructive economic, yet promising political impacts
on the Egyptian people while the prospect for peace remains uncertain. The Egyptian revolution took
place all over Egypt. The conflict involved two groups, the Egyptian people, and the government. The
first protest was on January 25th, 2011. The people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poor conditions sparked the Egyptian Revolution. The work conditions were so poor, that ...a street
vendor in Tunisia set himself on fire in front a municipal building to protest his work conditions
(Global Issues in Context Online Collection). This is an example of the many forms of protests in the
Egyptian revolution. A street vendor had been severely mistreated in his job, so he put on a public
display to draw attention to his struggles. Setting himself on fire was his way of telling the world that
he needed a change. A social impact of the Egyptian Revolution were the emergency measures taken
by the government to control protesters. Although protests were non violent, the police used very
abusive tactics to end them. Police used tear gas, rubber bullets, firehoses and even guns, to end
protests. (Egyptian Anti Government Protests). Despite the country s fight to end police brutality, and
other violations of human rights, their protests were stopped by any means necessary. The struggle
that Egypt was going through was so harsh, the police had the right to mistreat anyone participating in
even the most peaceful protests. The biggest social impact of the Egyptian Revolution was the number
of casualties. Egyptian people faced mass arrests of protesters, injuries, and even deaths. Over the
course of the revolution, there were at least 840 deaths.(Britannica School). Despite both sides good
intentions, the number of casualties in the Egyptian revolution was astounding. Protesters were abused
in protests, but they needed a better life. The police force and government wanted to keep things under
control, but their efforts sparked more and more protests. This illustrates that a need is often granted
with a sacrifice. In Egypt s fight for human rights, it was clear it would not be easy, but the impacts
were more significant

Similarities Between Almost Famous And Perks Of Being A...
The film Almost Famous and the novel Perks of Being a Wallflower both show how William, Charlie,
and their stories are very similar. These were the big similarities that I noticed the most. The first thing
that really showed some similarity between the two is their relationships with other people. Both
Charlie and William are socially different, but for two different reasons. In Perks of Being a
Wallflower, Charlie seems to just be a little slower and William s personality gives out that he was
basically sheltered up until he was 15 when he went on tours with the bands. William s mother had
also put him in first grade at around 5 therefor he was almost 3 years younger than everyone else in
his grade. Bullying is portrayed in both because of

  • 2. Two Different Philosophical Views in Grendel and Beowulf... Beowulf and Grendel are two tales similar in many ways, yet different from each other. These stories are like a coin; you cannot have one side without the other. Just as the sides of a coin share the same coin, these stories share a similar plot, a setting, and tell of the same events. The sides of a coin also have differences as do Beowulf and Grendel. In the case of these two tales this difference is in their respective philosophical views. Beowulf portrays the philosophical views of life that many people still regard today. Those views helped to shape and define the ideal Dane in their culture. For example, the traits looked for among the Danes were honesty, bravery, and humility. These three requirements in the Danes were but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In contrast to the Danes of Beowulf , Grendel searched for his very reason of existence by asking the questions Why? and How? for answers. Grendel started off in the book struggling with finding meaning in his life while watching the people clearly doing things that gave their lives meaning. He became upset as he saw that he couldn t deter their spirits no matter what he did and started to feel jealous of their self found purpose. He realized that through various ways the people attained meaning. In response to his confusion over their self discovered purpose, Grendel started listening to the Shaper s words when he spoke to the people shaping their very beliefs which confused Grendel even more on the meaning of life. After listening to the Shaper for a while, readers can see Grendel in a state of contradiction. He started off killing people as a simple, bestial monstrosity but in the end he is shown as quite intelligent and capable of choosing whether to kill or not. Soon, Grendel started seeking answers to his questions from a dragon. The dragon s very philosophy on life was that there is no meaning of life which started to influence Grendel. Upon Grendel s persistent questions of Why? , the dragon told him You improve them, my boy! Can t you see that yourself? You stimulate them! • 3. Natural Law Theory, Positivism, And The Fugitive Slave Law Since the spoken word, hundreds of philosophers have defined law in different ways. Philosophy allows people to study the nature of people s beliefs which can differ over time. Not even the law is exempt from the opinions of philosophers. Seeing law in different ways allows people to come to different conclusions about legal cases. The Fugitive Slave Law was a controversial law in American history, which allowed slave owners to capture their slaves who have fled north to free states. Once, jurors tried a group of emancipators in Boston for helping an escaped slave flee to Canada. These emancipators challenged the Fugitive Slave Law in United States v Morris. According to the Fugitive Slave Law, helping an escaped slave is in violation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If a law is not moral, thus it is not a law. Aquinas thinks this for there must be a moral reason to follow a law. Thus, if a law does not have any moral reason for a person to follow the law, the law is unjust. According to Aquinas, a sanction (a punishment) would not be a good enough reason to follow an unjust law. The Fugitive Slave Law goes against the laws of nature. Humans have their own free will and the law of nature never permits one human to claim another human. People are not property and have their own free will. Obviously, morality says people are not possessions. One cannot approach a person and say, I own you. It is not morally justifiable. To Aquinas the Fugitive Slave Law is not a real law for the sake that the law does not follow morality. At the time of the Fugitive Slave Law, people knew slavery was wrong; so, the jurors in Morris did conduct appropriately. As stated before, natural law theory states a law requires morality. The jurors let the emancipators free since the Fugitive Slave Law was against morality and natural law. The jurors did the morally suitable thing through the lens of natural law theory since they were doing what morality said. Positivism, another attempt to answer what the law is, leads to a similar outcome as the Natural Law theory which was that the jurors in Morris did the right thing. John Austin discusses positivism in his book The Province of Jurisprudence Determined. First, Austin defines ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Unfair Dismissal t is important to distinguish unfair dismissal from the common law remedy for wrongful dismissal. The latter is a civil law remedy essentially based upon breach of the contract of employment. From the point of view of the employee, there are significant deficiencies in this civil law relief as a remedy. Because an employer is generally entitled under the terms of the contract to dismiss upon giving the appropriate period of notice as stipulated by the contract, damages will often be limited to the loss of earnings during that period. The civil law does not provide for a remedy by way of reinstatement. There is no remedy based upon breach of contract for failure to follow appropriate grievance and disciplinary procedures prior to dismissal. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the employee lost on further appeal when Lord Denning held that for there to be a constructive dismissal, the employer s actions had to amount to a significant breach of the contract of employment. This therefore applied a contractual analysis more akin to the civil law wrongful dismissal approach. However, as will be seen below, cases of constructive dismissal are now regulated by the statutory disciplinary and grievance procedures introduced by the Employment Act 2002 (EA 2002). It will be argued that these new requirements have the effect of tipping the scales too far in favour of the employer in many cases. Fairness Section 98(4) of ERA 1996 defines this concept: the question whether the dismissal is fair or unfair (having regard to the reason shown by the employer) (a) depends on whether in the circumstances (including the size and administrative resources of the employer s undertaking) the employer acted reasonably or unreasonably in treating it as a sufficient reason for dismissing the employee, and (b) shall be determined in accordance with equity and the substantial merits of the case. It should be noted, however, that s.34 EA 2002 inserted a new s.98A into ERA 1996 which provides that breach by the employer of a statutory procedure on dismissal, which sets down the minimum procedural requirements, means that the dismissal is in any event automatically unfair. The Coming of Beowulf came along in another story line of this epic; Beowulf and the geats, in other words Vikings, and Christian followers go against the vicious beast, Grendel. Grendel represents something evil (Vengeance). Grendel, aside from Grendel s mother, represents some of the most bloodthirsty pagan components within Grendel s own unjust existence. The geats, on the other hand, did have pagan elements within their hearts and personalities such as, greed and boastful elements as well as hatred towards the darkness at which Grendel contained. In empathizing with their hatred for Grendel, it still shows their dark side which seems hypocritical on their parts considering the largest pagan element out of all of these epics contains the darkest emotion, hate. Christians, even in these days, try to steer clear of hatred towards one another, but in this particular epic hate consumed even the Christians. The Bible says to pray for the enemies because the enemies happen to need it the most but the geats did not follow this rule of the Christian religion; rather allowed consumption of the elements that make up paganism. I believe his used his poetry to teach others his neo classical virtues. He believed his poems could be used as examples to introduce people to wisdom, honesty, and his version of a good life. The reason that we need a constant stream of it is because it is not stored in large quantities in the body. It is water soluble. Fat soluble vitamins are stored for longer in our system. When ingested, the body uses what it can and the rest comes out in urine, in very little time the body will need more. We discussed how pregnant women get a proven benefit, and studies continue on its role in reducing risks of other diseases, but regardless of what additional benefits are found, it is clear that without folic acid in our bodies, we would not be alive. Folic acid aids in the production of red blood cells and the synthesis of DNA and RNA. Folate even has a role in the digestive system! It works with vitamins B12 and C to help the body digest and synthesize proteins. Lastly, folic acid helps tissues grow and cells function, it is an integral part of the body working as it should. You might wonder what would happen if you stopped consuming folic acid in the form of supplements or foods. One consequence that is quite likely under these conditions is folate deficiency anemia. This type of anemia occurs when red cell production slows and the body no longer has a sufficient amount. Without enough red blood cells, oxygen cannot travel around the body quick enough. He thinks highly of himself as the King of Kings and he believes he is the ruler of great and vast lands, but the poem reveals nature and time has overcome him and his kingdom, leaving behind ruins of him, and lone and level lands around him full of emptiness. The author is vivid with his uses of imagery in this poem. He is very descriptive of the pieces of the statue, and the ruins of the wreck. In an already turmoil filled Latin America, this revolution reshaped how Latin American countries dealt with foreign occupation while helping the country form an identity[JLW1] . In Nicaragua, the people were confronted with a war against the United States and resisting the Somoza regime. They had to overcome these obstacles in an attempt to finally establish peace in society. However, their journey towards peace was only complicated by political stratagems by western powers for Cold War supremacy; in other words, Nicaraguans were not only at war with themselves but also with western expansion. The United States government s obsession with halting the spread of communism and controlling Latin American countries propelled the revolution to new heights. Pressure Ulcer Prevention Essay Pressure Ulcer Prevention in the Acute Care Setting Pressure ulcers are localized wounds to the skin that are also known as decubitus ulcers, or are known by the colloquial term bed sores. They are common occurrences in healthcare that result from injuries to the skin and the tissues beneath it when the patient remains in one position for long periods of time. Pressure ulcers are typically located over an area with a bony prominence that then causes pressure on the skin. Pressure ulcers are especially common in individuals in extended care facilities, but can occur even in an acute setting. Pressure ulcers, in fact, can develop in just 24 hours, although they may not be apparent to healthcare providers until up to 7 days later (Truong, Grigson, Patel, Liu, 2016). For immobile or relatively immobile patients, pressure ulcers are one of the most serious problems that can occur, because they can result in infections or other complications, and decrease the quality of life. As an example, a prospective cohort study conducted in Brazil found that pressure ulcers could harbor multi drug resistant bacteria that conferred a mortality rate of 100 percent (Braga, Brito, Filho, Filho, Ribas, 2016) and that were able to spread to other patients in the form of infected pressure ulcers or other hospital acquired infections. Cresswell (1999) has suggested the following prior to partaking in research using mixed methods 1) Determine the order in which you will implement the qualitative and quantitative data of your study, 2) Determine the weight that will be given to the quantitative and qualitative data, 3) determine how the two types of data will be mixed/combined, and 4) determine the theory that will guide your design ... • 44. Essay On Epicurus Epicurus was an ancient Greek philosopher and the founder of the school of philosophy known as Epicureanism. In Epicurus philosophy, the purpose of life is to attain happiness through peace and freedom from fear. Epicurus believed that the universe is eternal, life is the final being; there is nothing call life after death. 8 Lessons from Epicurus Philosophy Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for. Epicurus I can relate this with mindfulness living, living in the present moment, without the worries of the future. It is our tendency to look for the desires that we don t have in our life, but often this tendency leads us to the door of unhappiness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is not because that they made a bad judgment or they made a lot of mistakes, but because we lack peace in ourselves, in our soul. A soul that is complete and living without any worries has fewer chances to be angry with others, as he knows that anger is not a way to protest, it is just a sign of weakness. Let no one be slow to seek wisdom when he is young nor weary in the search of it when he has grown old. For no age is too early or too late for the health of the soul. Epicurus One of my favorite Epicurus lessons is the above one, as it suggests us to make a little change in our lifestyle. It gives us a hint that the source of happiness and completeness of our soul comes from our thoughts, the way we produce it if you decide to renounce your gossip tendencies and replace it with higher thoughts if you talk about the philosophy in place of food, assets, and gadgets. You don t develop courage by being happy in your relationships everyday. You develop it by surviving difficult times and challenging adversity. Epicurus Difficulties are the lessons that teach us how to face adversities in our life, happiness never able to do that, as like failures are the Stair to claim success. Not all individuals could read and write, therefore images were very important in delivering messages and teachings. One artwork chosen is Annunciation by John Collier created in 2003. This modern artwork shows Gabriel asking Mary if she would become the mother of Jesus. The other one is the Holy Night Nativity Scene by Antonio Correggio created in 1530, which focuses on and sets the scene of Jesus birth. The Annunciation displays the moment Gabriel was sent by God to tell Mary she would become pregnant. This is present in the passage God sent angel Gabriel to a virgin and he said to Mary God has a surprise for you: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son and call his name Jesus (Luke 1:26 33). The artwork depicts Mary as a very young and innocent women, which is aided by her modern school inspired dress. • 47. The Use Of Electroencephalographic ( Eeg ) Signals For... Introduction This thesis is devoted to an investigation of the use of electroencephalographic (EEG) signals for biometric person recognition. The traditional ways of access control include using token based identification systems, such as a driver s license or passport, and knowledge based identification systems, such as a password or personal identification number [1]. Biometric person recognition, however, relies on human physiological and/or behavioural characteristics for establishing identity. A range of such distinctive, measurable characteristics can be used have been successfully used to recognize individuals. Biometric modalities/identifiers are considered to be unique to individuals: they may be more reliable in verifying identity than token and knowledge based methods [1]. One limitation of the specially designed database is the number of subjects included for data capture using the low cost sensor system. The self collected database contains 27 subjects with recordings from multiple sessions made on different days, which may still not be large enough to justify the statistical significance of the obtained results. Furthermore, due to the quality of the data from the low cost sensor, it can be predicted that with the number of subjects further increasing, the recognition performance of the EEG biometric system tends to reduce. Electroencephalography (EEG) is a recording of the electrical activities of the brain along the scalp, which is generally considered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Cask of Amontillado was written by Edgar Allen Poe, who tells the story of a man consumed by revenge. A Eulogy for Martin Luther King, Jr. describes the want and need for forgiveness and is given by Robert F. Kennedy. The one that takes revenge will only be paid back with a revenge in return. The cycle of grudges and violence will never end until someone forgives. Whatever reasons people may use to validate revenge, they must face the truth that forgiveness is always a better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Poor conditions sparked the Egyptian Revolution. The work conditions were so poor, that ...a street vendor in Tunisia set himself on fire in front a municipal building to protest his work conditions (Global Issues in Context Online Collection). This is an example of the many forms of protests in the Egyptian revolution. A street vendor had been severely mistreated in his job, so he put on a public display to draw attention to his struggles. Setting himself on fire was his way of telling the world that he needed a change. A social impact of the Egyptian Revolution were the emergency measures taken by the government to control protesters. Although protests were non violent, the police used very abusive tactics to end them. Police used tear gas, rubber bullets, firehoses and even guns, to end protests. (Egyptian Anti Government Protests). Despite the country s fight to end police brutality, and other violations of human rights, their protests were stopped by any means necessary. The struggle that Egypt was going through was so harsh, the police had the right to mistreat anyone participating in even the most peaceful protests. The biggest social impact of the Egyptian Revolution was the number of casualties. Egyptian people faced mass arrests of protesters, injuries, and even deaths. Over the course of the revolution, there were at least 840 deaths.(Britannica School). Despite both sides good intentions, the number of casualties in the Egyptian revolution was astounding. Protesters were abused in protests, but they needed a better life. The police force and government wanted to keep things under control, but their efforts sparked more and more protests. This illustrates that a need is often granted with a sacrifice. In Egypt s fight for human rights, it was clear it would not be easy, but the impacts were more significant ... • 50. Similarities Between Almost Famous And Perks Of Being A... The film Almost Famous and the novel Perks of Being a Wallflower both show how William, Charlie, and their stories are very similar. These were the big similarities that I noticed the most. The first thing that really showed some similarity between the two is their relationships with other people. Both Charlie and William are socially different, but for two different reasons. In Perks of Being a Wallflower, Charlie seems to just be a little slower and William s personality gives out that he was basically sheltered up until he was 15 when he went on tours with the bands. William s mother had also put him in first grade at around 5 therefor he was almost 3 years younger than everyone else in his grade. Bullying is portrayed in both because of ...
