This presentation is given at Santa Clara Ansys Conference in 2014, where we have presented the viscoelastic modelling capabilities in Ansys and the basic requirements for such modelling. The presentation is simple and a good starting point to understand viscoelastic modeling in Ansys.
Autoclave is a closed vessel (Round or Cylindrical) in which processes occur under simultaneous application of high temperature and pressure. Autoclave molding technique is similar to vacuum bag and pressure bag molding method with some modifications. This method employs an autoclave to provide heat and pressure to the composite product during curing.
Shape-memory polymers are smart materials that have the ability to return from a deformed state to their original shape induced by an external stimulus, such as temperature change.

Project for Design of a Signboard ColumnMANISH JANGIR
Our project report investigates the characteristics or more specifically design of a column on which a signboard is to be installed at the gate of IIT ROORKEE. It is a detailed design report for the column with preliminary calculations, materials selection, solid geometry, stress analysis and cost estimation. In order to design the column we have considered drag force of air on the signboard, weight of the signboard and different materials for making the most optimum design of the column such that it supports the weight of the signboard and the drag force on the signboard due to air. Length of the column (5m), dimensions of the signboard (4m*2m*0.05m) and dead load of the assembly (50kg) is given. For designing the column we have used the data given to calculate the forces on the column. Also, we have used software tools like SOLIDWORKS 2014 EDITION for designing the pole and ANSYS 2015 EDITION for the analysis of the column after application of the calculated forces. Finally we have summarized the conclusions of analysis by using ANSYS which includes the material to be used and the design specifications of the pole.
Effect of Temperature and Relative Humidity on Creep Deflection for Permanent...Mahmoud Sayed Ahmed
The structural insulated panel (SIP) is an engineered composite product composed of an insulating foam core sandwiched to provide the insulation and rigidity, and two face-skin materials to provide durability and strength. SIPs can also be used as permanent wood foundation (PWF) for basements in low-rise residential construction to save in the energy cost. The maximum deflection equation specified in the Canadian Standard for Engineering Design of Wood, CAN/CSA-O86.09 specifies expressions for the effects of short-term bending deflection on the PWF timber stud walls. Information on the long-term creep behavior of SIPs under sustained triangular loading, simulating soil pressure, including effect of the change in ambient temperature and relative humidity is as yet unavailable. The long-term creep deflection for permanent wood foundation panels that is characterized as viscoelastic materials is highly affected by the change in ambient temperature and relative humidity. This paper reported the results from flexural creep experiments performed on two sets of different sizes of PWF made of structural-insulated foam-timber panels. In these tests, deflection, temperature and relative humidity were tracked for an eight-month period. The experimental findings were examined against existing creep models in the literature. Then, a creep model incorporating the effects of temperature and relative humidity on creep deflection was developed. Correlation between the proposed model and the experimental findings provides confidence on using the proposed model in the determination of the capacity of the PWF under combined gravity loading and sustained soil pressure as affected by temperature variation and relative humidity.

Viscoelastic response of polymeric solids in sliding contactspadmanabhankrishnan4
Abstract: The viscoelastic response of polymeric solids to sliding contact conditions
is observed and analyzed with respect to the sliding speed, material composition,
and geometry. It was discovered that polymeric solids produced their own distinct
viscoelastic signatures that cause resonance at certain sliding speeds which can be
explained with resonance conditions for electromagnetic waves. The observed viscolelastic phenomenon is characterized with respect to the relaxation and recovery
times for rigid polymeric solids. It is confirmatory as a demonstration of proof of
existence of viscoelasticity and self-organization in these materials under sliding contact conditions. Viscoelastic observations are also made on the aged specimens in
sliding contact.

"On the bonding performance of distributed optical fiber sensors (DOFS) in st...TRUSS ITN
Distributed optical fiber sensors (DOFS) is one of the most promising and exciting technologies under research to be applied in the structural health monitoring (SHM) of civil engineering infrastructures. Therefore, in this paper, the authors present a laboratory experiment where a reinforced concrete beam was instrumented with a 5-meter-long polyimide DOFS in a way that four equal segments were bonded to the bottom surface of the beam using for each segment a different type of adhesive. Three strain gauges were also used to compare the results. The beam was then loaded, generating expected equal levels of strain for each of the segments allowing for a direct comparison between them. In this exercise, additionally to the comparison with the other instrumented sensors, it is also important the consideration and analysis of the associated Spectral Shift Quality (SSQ) values of the DOFS measurements.

NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN CONDENSING HEAT EXCHANGERS...ssuser7dcef0
Power plants release a large amount of water vapor into the
atmosphere through the stack. The flue gas can be a potential
source for obtaining much needed cooling water for a power
plant. If a power plant could recover and reuse a portion of this
moisture, it could reduce its total cooling water intake
requirement. One of the most practical way to recover water
from flue gas is to use a condensing heat exchanger. The power
plant could also recover latent heat due to condensation as well
as sensible heat due to lowering the flue gas exit temperature.
Additionally, harmful acids released from the stack can be
reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation. reduced in a condensing heat exchanger by acid condensation.
Condensation of vapors in flue gas is a complicated
phenomenon since heat and mass transfer of water vapor and
various acids simultaneously occur in the presence of noncondensable
gases such as nitrogen and oxygen. Design of a
condenser depends on the knowledge and understanding of the
heat and mass transfer processes. A computer program for
numerical simulations of water (H2O) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4)
condensation in a flue gas condensing heat exchanger was
developed using MATLAB. Governing equations based on
mass and energy balances for the system were derived to
predict variables such as flue gas exit temperature, cooling
water outlet temperature, mole fraction and condensation rates
of water and sulfuric acid vapors. The equations were solved
using an iterative solution technique with calculations of heat
and mass transfer coefficients and physical properties.
A review on techniques and modelling methodologies used for checking electrom...nooriasukmaningtyas
The proper function of the integrated circuit (IC) in an inhibiting electromagnetic environment has always been a serious concern throughout the decades of revolution in the world of electronics, from disjunct devices to today’s integrated circuit technology, where billions of transistors are combined on a single chip. The automotive industry and smart vehicles in particular, are confronting design issues such as being prone to electromagnetic interference (EMI). Electronic control devices calculate incorrect outputs because of EMI and sensors give misleading values which can prove fatal in case of automotives. In this paper, the authors have non exhaustively tried to review research work concerned with the investigation of EMI in ICs and prediction of this EMI using various modelling methodologies and measurement setups.
Online aptitude test management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
The purpose of on-line aptitude test system is to take online test in an efficient manner and no time wasting for checking the paper. The main objective of on-line aptitude test system is to efficiently evaluate the candidate thoroughly through a fully automated system that not only saves lot of time but also gives fast results. For students they give papers according to their convenience and time and there is no need of using extra thing like paper, pen etc. This can be used in educational institutions as well as in corporate world. Can be used anywhere any time as it is a web based application (user Location doesn’t matter). No restriction that examiner has to be present when the candidate takes the test.
Every time when lecturers/professors need to conduct examinations they have to sit down think about the questions and then create a whole new set of questions for each and every exam. In some cases the professor may want to give an open book online exam that is the student can take the exam any time anywhere, but the student might have to answer the questions in a limited time period. The professor may want to change the sequence of questions for every student. The problem that a student has is whenever a date for the exam is declared the student has to take it and there is no way he can take it at some other time. This project will create an interface for the examiner to create and store questions in a repository. It will also create an interface for the student to take examinations at his convenience and the questions and/or exams may be timed. Thereby creating an application which can be used by examiners and examinee’s simultaneously.
Examination System is very useful for Teachers/Professors. As in the teaching profession, you are responsible for writing question papers. In the conventional method, you write the question paper on paper, keep question papers separate from answers and all this information you have to keep in a locker to avoid unauthorized access. Using the Examination System you can create a question paper and everything will be written to a single exam file in encrypted format. You can set the General and Administrator password to avoid unauthorized access to your question paper. Every time you start the examination, the program shuffles all the questions and selects them randomly from the database, which reduces the chances of memorizing the questions.
