Mla Narrative Essay Format
Crafting an essay on the MLA narrative essay format can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a
delicate balance between adhering to the stringent guidelines of the MLA style and weaving a
compelling narrative that engages and captivates the reader. The MLA format demands
meticulous attention to detail, from the proper citation of sources to the correct structuring of
headers and margins. Juggling these technicalities while ensuring that the narrative maintains
coherence and narrative flow can be akin to walking a tightrope.
Moreover, the process involves not only understanding the intricacies of the MLA guidelines but
also having a keen sense of storytelling. A successful narrative essay should not only meet the
rigid formatting requirements but should also immerse the reader in a captivating story, complete
with a well-developed plot, relatable characters, and a satisfying resolution. Balancing the
technical aspects of the format with the creative demands of storytelling adds an extra layer of
complexity to the task.
Additionally, finding the right balance between personal expression and adherence to the
formalities of the MLA format can be a source of frustration. Striking this equilibrium requires
careful consideration of language, tone, and style to ensure that the essay meets both the
academic and narrative expectations.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the MLA narrative essay format is a challenging process that
demands a fusion of technical precision and creative storytelling. Successfully navigating
through the intricacies of MLA guidelines while crafting a compelling narrative is no small feat.
However, with dedication, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of both the format and
narrative storytelling, one can overcome these challenges and produce an essay that is not only
academically sound but also engaging for the reader.

International and Commercial Risks
International Commercial Risks April 1, 2013 International Commercial Risks
Business is continually growing on a global level leading to international business
partnerships, agreements, and trades. During these types of business relationships
disputes are common (University of Phoenix, n.d.). If a dispute occurs one party may
chooses to take legal action against the other party. Making the decision to take legal
action businesses must make considerations prior to proceeding. Making the right
decisions can build a strong relationship between parties. Considerations to take
include contracts, local law, and local customs and culture. Steps may be taken to
minimize risks in international business agreements as well. The first... Show more

The decision reached through binding arbitration cannot be appealed unless
according to Repa (2013), a fraud or misuse of power has taken place (Binding
Versus Nonbinding Arbitration). Nonbinding arbitration allows an appeal to be
filed by one or both parties. A trial may be requested in this case. In addition to
contract considerations one should be aware of local culture and local laws
involved. In the case of the CadMex simulation, provided by the University of
Phoenix, culture was brought to attention in considering legal matters based on
male employees who refused to shave their facial hair based on a religious practice
for the time frame of one week. The company policy clearly stated that employees
facial hair is to be clean shaven. CadMex suspended the employees based on
breach of contract for company policy. The employees filed a lawsuit. CadMex
should consider the local culture in this scenario. In considering the local culture
CadMex can consider making accommodations to the employees in order to build a
better business relationship within the country of Candorea so long as the
accommodations are not too burdensome. CadMex s best option to satisfy all parties
involved is to revoke the suspension. Providing accommodations does not have to be
overly burdensome to CadMex. One accommodation is to provide hairnets to the
selected employees during the time the employees are observing the religious belief
The Telecommunications Act Of 1996
President Bill Clinton created the Telecommunications Act of 1996 to promote fair
competition in the United States telecommunications market. President Clinton s goal
was to establish an open market so that any business can compete in the
telecommunications field. Since the creation of the Telecommunications Act, there
has been a bevy of radio and televisionmergers. One can safely say that with all the
recent mergers, some companies have become monopolies in their respective fields.
The Telecommunications Act primary focus is to help businesses compete against
other businesses so that the consumer can reap the benefits of lower prices for
services, a wider selection of services from different companies, more jobs, and a

The Act will prevent a single broadcast group owner from dominating the national
media market (The American Presidency Project, 2016). The problem with this
statement is that in today s society this is not true. Currently, 90 percent of the
media is owned by just six companies: Viacom, News Corporation, CBS, Comcast,
Disney, and Time Warner (Corcoran, 2016). These six companies shape global
political views and cover Presidential elections in America. AT T whom which
currently owns Directv has now purchased Time Warner Inc. (De la Merced, 2016).
This purchase is still pending approval from the Federal Communications
Commission and the United States Department of Justice (James, 2017). AT T
would own HBO, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Turner Classic Movies, TNT, TBS,
Tru TV, SNY, Peachtree TV, and The CW. AT T would sell cable service and own
cable content. The interesting thing about AT T is that they were the sole provider of
telephone service in the United States. An anti trust lawsuit broke up the Bell system
phone companies to relinquish the monopoly that AT T had on phone service (New
America, 2010).
The Telecommunications Act of 1996 creates one huge problem? The
Telecommunications Act of 1996 doesn t allow fair competition; it enables large
Media companies to become conglomerates.
The Dangers Of Childbirth In The Fifteenth Century
Childbirth was very dangerous in the fifteenth century. Woman would get married at
the age of fifteen and nineteen. Then would have children at the age of twenty and
twenty four. Women would be having five to ten children. When the woman found
she was pregnant she would make out her will. Weather they were months or years
apart they would just keep having children without them knowing the dangers of
giving birth. The old method of birth controlthey had was breastfeeding wish was
nature s way of spacing out children. If the mother didn t breastfeed then they
believed they would get pregnant more. They also didn t believe in birth control.
They didn t deliver their babies in the hospital they delivered them at their own home.

Managing Multi Generation Workforce
MANAGING MULTI GENERATION WORKFORCE A NEW CHALLENGE IN

ABSTRACT:
Today is the time which can be marked when we can see four generation rubbing their
shoulders more or less happily under the same roof of an organisation. Though these
generations show drastic variations in terms of their values, commitments,
motivational factors, dissatisfiers, work environment, approach towards job etc., yet
every generation has got some exceptional benefits for the organisation. Organisation
cannot afford to value any of them less than the others. Talking about IT industry, we
can hardly see anyone from the oldest generation who are called as the
Traditionalists. As the IT sector has reached its forties you can find atleast three
generations Baby Boomers, Generation X and Generation Y joining hands for the
success of the organisation.
Easier said than done, managing these three generation has given a tough time to
the top managers. The industries have seen their employees below 25 years of age
growing into more matured workforce and their changed focus have forced the
Human Resource Managers to change their basic policies, which were initially made

only posed a challenge in terms of managing the differences but also making them
work under same policy framework. This research work helps in
What Does The Chimney Sweeper Mean
Daniela Ferreira Lopes English 1B 11/06/15 The chimney sweeper The poem The
Chimney Sweeper by William Blake is all about exploitation, oppression, and
abuse of young naive boys. The sweeps are innocent victims of the cruelest
exploitation. Their lives are restricted. The imagery the speaker uses show the
awful conditions in which the children were working in. The first stanza, the
speaker in the poem introduces himself by saying that he lost his mother and his
father sold him in a very young age. And my father sold me while yet my tongue

In stanza 5, the Angel told Tom, ...if he d be a good boy,/ He d have God for his
father, and never want joy . (19 20) The boy s father sold him when he was very
young, so he never really had a father, and dreaming about having a father made
him happy in the morning after he woke up from that dream. In stanza 6 he simply
awakes from that dream, content with the fact that there is hope. Tom is
experiencing dreamy joy for spiritual comfort. This part of the poem are stating
that the boys have something to look forward to after life on earth. The anguish of
it is that the boys are looking forward to death. In stanza 4 is mentioned the
unlocking of coffins by an angel and being washed clean in a river. These are
Christian citations to Christ s resurrection and also baptism. The beginning of the
stanza 5, the speaker mentions the boys in the dream were naked and white, all their
bags left behind (17). Naked and white suggests innocence and purity. Baggage
denotes sin and the cares of the
J. Bruce Ismay Is Responsible For The Sinking Of The
Titanic
The Titanic was the biggest ship built in the 1900s. The Titanic is very important
to us because it helps us remember the people who went down with their ship.
Back then the Titanic was just not a ship that people went on it was a Royal Mail
Ship. The Titanic is very important because people are still arguing about who is
responsible for the sinking of the Titanic. I believe J. Bruce Ismay is responsible
for the sinking of the Titanic because he was more powerful than Captain Smith.
Although some people think Captain Smith is responsible for the sinking of the
Titanic. However, I think that it is J. Bruce Ismay because he told Captain Smith
to accelerate the speed of the ship after they received 7 ice warnings. They say that
Captain Smith didn t put as many people on the lifeboats as he could and that s
true, but Ismay didn t have enough lifeboats for everyone on the ship. When Ismay

Bruce Ismay because he put pressure on Captain Smith. Like he told him to stay
the same pace as they were going when they received the ice warning. A few more
examples are that he ignored all dispatch calls and didn t tell Captain Smith, and
didn t have enough lifeboats for everyone on the ship. There are still a lot more
reasons why I think Ismay is responsible for the sinking of the Titanic. There are
many little things J. Bruce Ismay did that, it makes me think that he is responsible
for the sinking of the Titanic. Like he did not take time to test the ship and take
precautions and that is the important thing you need to do before you get the ship
on the water. One more thing I am pinning J. Bruce Ismay on is that he skipped
over a good crew and did not have a good person for every single job on the Titanic.
One last major thing that he did was that he took a lifeboat for himself and the crew
was not supposed to take a lifeboat they were supposed to go down with the

Being able to understand how people from different cultures and religions
communicate, interact, and perceive the environment around them allows for the
formation of important guidelines and practices which help combat and avoid anxiety
and uncertainty in government, business, and personal intercultural relationships for
the purpose of efficient negotiations and merges different cultures into more tolerant
cohesive existence. It is imperative that these same principles are utilized when
communicating to cultural groups other than our own because people from different
cultures encode and decode messages and meaning differently. Because of this, what
is acceptable to one is not necessarily acceptable by the other especially if they base
their practices on their own judgments and ideas and communicate disregarding the
judgments and ideas of any other culture. Ignorance can lead to devastating and
damaging assumptions in terms of building intercultural relationships when one
enters communication using the same old ethnocentric approach. It is a lot like the

Role of Women in the Paleolithic and Modern Period

Role of Women in the Paleolithic and Modern Period * Women of the Paleolithic
and Modern periods both have role models that have different meanings such as
their role in society and their body image; however the way the males have treated
these women showed little respect. During the Paleolithic period a sculpture was
carved from using simple carving tools to create a masterpiece that is known today
as the Venus of Willendorf. The Venus of Willendorf has suggested to archeologists
that the sculpture was to have been an image of fertility, which is how their existence
survived for so many years. Looking at the sculpture also ... Show more content on

These different roles are what have inspired women; if you can imagine it then you
can become it. In, 1992 President Barbie was created which led the way for the
feminist that shape the future political leaders (Zaslow amp;Schoenberg, 2012). The
United States had the first female run for office in 2008, only 16 years after
President Barbie was introduced to the young women of America. This is only the
beginning of what the women of today s society are going to do as a political leader.
Venus of Willendorf was a role model for the perfect female form for her obesity;
however today women have strived to have the Barbie look. In the, Stone Age fat
was beautiful because it meant vitality and fertility (Paige, 2004, p. 4). There were
many different body shapes of woman from the Paleolithic period, but there is only
one that really stood out and served as a role model for their village. Venus of
Willendorf is sculpted in a way that clearly shows her obesity and why she is the
role model for the Paleolithic period. She was sculpted with a large stomach that
overhangs a fat roll that extends around the middle, a flat butt and large thighs that
are pressed together on her knees. This is one of the earliest signs of obesity in
women and they still struggle with this in the modern society.
In today s society everyone has imagined to have that perfect body. Many experts
have suggested that Barbie is a root cause for many problems with women
Sandwich Panels Advantages And Disadvantages
INTRODUCTION
1.1GENERAL
In this chapter, a background study on the concept of insulated concrete sandwich
panels is introduced. The specialities of its various parts and practical applications
are cited.
1.2HISTORY
Precast/prestressed concrete sandwich wall panels are composed of two concrete
wythes or layers separated by a layer of rigid foam plastic insulation. Sandwich
panels are created in North America for quite 50 years. Early sandwich panels were
of the non composite kind and consisted of a thick, structural wythe (or hollow core
slabs, double tees, or single tees), a layer of rigid insulation, and a non structural
wythe. Composite sandwich panels were factorymade later.
Materials employed in the manufacture of sandwich panels are the ... Show more

Sandwich panels are usually designed as one way structural elements; shear forces
are generated due to longitudinal bending in the panels. In addition, the shear
connectors may be used to transfer the weight of a non structural wythe to the
structural wythe. Shear connectors that are designed to be stiff in one direction and
flexible in another are called one way shear connectors [4]. Examples of these are
longitudinal steel wire trusses, solid ribs of concrete, flat sleeve anchors, fiber
composite rectangles, and small diameter bent bars (Fig.1.1). Care should be taken in
the manufacturing process to maintain the preferred orientation of one way
connectors. Some shear connectors are stiff in at least two perpendicular directions
and will consequently transfer in both longitudinal and transverse horizontal shear.
Examples of these are solid zones of concrete (often located at each end of the panel
and at lifting points), connection plates, cylindrical sleeve anchors, and crown
anchors. Connection plates and crown anchors are normally installed in solid zones
of concrete and therefore it can be considered as rigid shear connections
Rhetorical Analysis Of Pamela
2.3 Tropes
Tropes are double signs; they involve the non literal substitution of a new signified
for the usual one. To comprehend a trope, a distinction needs to be made between
what is said and what is meant (Chandler 2007: 135). In this analysis, the photograph
of Pamela represented as meat and the phrases; All animals have the same parts and
Have a heart , are tropes.
Metaphor, metonymy, synecdoche and irony are the four basic tropes (Chandler
2007: 135). Tropes in visual as well as verbal forms can be seen as reflecting our
fundamentally relational understanding of reality. Reality is framed within systems
of analogy. Figures of speech enable us to see one thing in terms of another
(Chandler 2007: 125). For example the words ... Show more content on

In this case Pamela represents the ideal woman, other women are measured by this
constructed ideal, and consequently all women are then seen as consisting of
labelled parts , like Pamela in Figure 1. The segmented body of Pamela portrayed in
this advertisement is problematic, because it objectifies women in general. Instead of
representing a woman s body as a whole , it suggests that women consist of parts .
2.3.3 Irony or ironic statements signify the opposite of their literal signification.
Understatement, overstatement and exaggeration can also be regarded as ironic
(Chandler 2007: 134). In this analysis the image of Pamela Anderson, combined with
the phrase All animals have the same parts can only be seen as ironic exaggeration if
the viewer believes that animals are not equal to humans.
The overall message signified by Figure 1 is unintentionally ironic. If PETA is
against the objectification of animals, and they believe that animals and humans are
equal, then the objectification of women and the body represented in this
advertisement is ironic, as it reflects the opposite of what PETA stands for i.e. the
objectification of all

The Importance Of Social Class In Arthur Mervyn
Charles Brockden Brown s novel, Arthur Mervyn, allows readers to join Arthur
Mervyn s journey in letting go of his past to create a better present state for
himself. Not only does Arthur gain wisdom in his journey, but he also serves as a
heroic character by improving the lives of others, whether it be by finding a family
s lost money or finding someone a better home. His heroic acts show positivity in a
time of despair during the deathly yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia 1793. Along
with the epidemic, the novel elaborates on the importance of social classin each of the
characters. It then becomes clear that one s social class and reputation are dependent
on virtue in this time period. With this focus on social hierarchy, the female
prostitutes present in Arthur Mervyn are stigmatized as low class citizens because
they lack virtue, regardless of their financial standing.
Furthermore, social class during the Early American Republic was not credible:
social classes are based on opinion, and are therefore impossible to define with
precision (Main 197). Therefore, your social class was dependent on your neighbor s
judgement of your character. According to public opinion, farmers were on top of the
social ladder since they were seen as honest, virtuous, industrious men that supported
the state (Main 211). After the apex of the social hierarchy, followed the professional
men descending through the clergy, lawyers, doctors. Still lower were the merchants,
lower still
The Role Of Police During The Criminal Justice System
Introduction
This report shall examine the role of the police in the criminal justice system. For
background it will detail a brief history of the development of the police then look at
the later development of police powers of arrest, detention and of stop and search.
Further to this it will examine the role of the police in miscarriages of justice and the
effects of these miscarriages on the development of safeguards for people detained
by the police. Also the measures taken to prevent further miscarriages of justice such
as the development of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to decide if the
evidence is there and a prosecution is likely to be successful.
History and Development of the Police
The history of a professional police service in England dates back to the creation of
the Metropolitan Police in 1829 by the then Home Secretary Sir Robert Peel
(Joyce, 2012), the City of Glasgow Police was the first professional force to be
created in Britain in 1800 (Newburn, 2013). The Metropolitan Police force replaced
the volunteers who had until then served in an unpaid capacity to perform police
duties. The professional police service then served as a template on which to
model other local police forces throughout England and Wales (Joyce, 2012). There
are 41 provincial police forces outside London and two within London, the
Metropolitan Police and the City of London Police, at its peak the total number of
officers in England and Wales was over 143,000 in 2006 (Hale et
Challenges Faced By The Australian Government And
Designers
Australia, like many other countries across the globe, faces challenges presented by
existing climate conditions and the future rates of change. Today s decisions, policies,
and developing technologies may alter the ways that climate change will impact the
country. As a whole, the Australian government and designers are already beginning
to address these issues through the implementation of sustainable buildingcodes and
the use of climateresponsive design and materials that will adjust as the climate does.
While the smallest of the world s continents, Australia is a vast country, the sixth
largest in the world, covering over 7.5 million square kilometers. While generally one

The number of extreme fire risk days has grown over the past four decades as well,
more than doubled in some places. Fragile ecosystem conditions are being placed

the highest impact climate events in terms of human health, resulting is as many as

Australia is not simply able to ignore. With these problems only continuing to get
worse, the nation is being forced to look at means of further adaptation, and
sustainability issues are being considered for stricter regulation, or else it will see
potentially disastrous decline of its economy, infrastructure, environment, and overall

ABSTRACT
Contingency planning is an effective back up plan to any situation that requires an
alternative course of action for the outcome of a common goal. There are several
steps involved in contingency planning and these steps prepare for the strategic
planning process to come to full effectiveness for a facility. A full plan for a facility
allows for immediate resolutions for managing and addressing the issues as they
come into view or if markers are assigned to allow for a sense of prior knowledge.

This can be where the assessment of capitalization and the estimation of a reduction

what to do to counteract the situation keep an organization ahead of the curve. As
the competition may be heating up, the organization may be in close trends with
growth and opportunity. Implementation requires preparedness. By issuing a gap
analysis and action plan can be identified. This may require a change in the standard
operating procedures of the organization. With markers and triggers, there can be a
development of early warnings and alerts. This can put a giant foothold on the
prospects of future developments. Being prepared for events can allow for the
logistics and human resources to understand the direct role they must adhere to and
allow forward movement of resource mobilization. By training and simulating events,
the organization is better prepared for the drastic changes that may come into effect
to keep operations running smoothly. This will come to fruition through
communications and linkage of departments in a common goal. With a continuous
review, there can be changes made to update and evaluate the plan and how it is
working. Evaluation can be done in real time and a response can be made that is
rational and will avoid panic. By exercising backup plans with practice drills as they
are compiled, an organization can identify some shortcomings to better
The Pros And Cons Of Transgender Restrooms
Transgender restrooms have become a growing issue for many businesses in
America over the past couple of years since same sex marriage became legal and
the LBGT community is being more accepted socially. In America s society today,
there is more acceptance of other cultures and religious beliefs, unlike the past where
Americans were less likely to accept people that are different from themselves. This
is an issue that has brought us together today so that a decision can be made
regarding transgenderrestrooms and how to implement the decision into all 400 of
our stores immediately. After doing research on the subject, I started to notice a
trend in those who opposed the idea of a transgender individual being able to use
the same restroom as everybody else. When asked why they opposed the issue they
would say because it puts children and women at risk by letting men use the same
restroom as them, or something pertaining to the safety of women and children.
However, the fact of the matter is there is a minute amount of cases where
transgender individuals used inappropriate conduct while in a restroom of an
opposite sex in the few stores that allow individuals to use the restroom of the gender
they identify as. In fact the cases where it did happen, it was clear to see the
individual was not transgender just a sick minded individual manipulating the rules
and not using them how the law intended. Some states have actually passed laws on
this subject. North Carolina and South
The Flight of Icarus Essay
The Flight of Icarus
I find the most fascinating of ancient writings to be Greek mythology. Writings
produced by the early Greeks, in my opinion, even rival modern day literature. Hard
to believe considering everything the human race has experienced and endured up to
this point. With so many Greek tragedies, my favorite has to be The Flight of Icarus.
Our story begins on the isle of Crete. The earliest known settlers were the Minoans.
King Minos ruled this island nation. This Greek tragedy involves an inventor named
Daedalus. His homeland was Athens. For a short time, his apprentice was his sister s
son Perdix. When Daedalus feared that Perdix would surpass him in talent, he
murdered the boy by tossing him from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Minos promised to sacrifice the bull as an offering, but he coveted it for himself. He
assumed that Poseidon would not mind, so he kept it and sacrificed the best
specimen from his herd instead. When Poseidon learned about the deceit, he made
Minos wife fall madly in love with the white bull. The offspring of their lovemaking
was a monster called the Minotaur. The creature had the head and tail of a bull on the
body of a man. It caused such terror and destruction on Crete that Minos himself
summoned Daedalus. He ordered the architect to build a gigantic, intricate labyrinth
from which escape would be impossible. The Minotaur was captured and locked in
the labyrinth. Every year for nine years, seven youths and maidens came as a tribute
from Athens. These young people were locked in the labyrinth for the Minotaur to
feast upon. When the Greek hero Theseus reached Athens, he learned of the
Minotaur and the sacrifices, and wanted to end this. He volunteered to go to Crete
as one of the victims of the sacrifice. Upon his arrival in Crete, he met Ariadne,
Minos s daughter, who fell in love with Theseus. She promised she would provide
the means to escape from the maze if he agreed to marry her. Ariadne asked
Daedalus to help her. Daedalus gave her a flaxen thread for Theseus to tie to the
door of the labyrinth as he entered, and by which he could find his
Examples Of Social Pressure In The Crucible
I ve chosen to represent the theme Social Pressure in my creative piece; everything
I ve shown in my artwork has been chosen with the idea of conveying the concept of
Pressure. I wanted to explore this pressure that the entire village of Salem must have
felt during the witch trials where they had to choose to either give in to the devil, or
to stand up but have everyone believe you re against Christianity.
A key figure here is Mary Warren, the Proctors maid. She is trying to come clean

We see this throughout The Crucible and then finally his fall when he is

multiple pins sticking in it to show that after enough small blows, you will be
knocked over by that pressure. It also ties to the play where Elizabeth is accused of
witchcraft for having a similar poppet with a needle stuck in it.
Much like the different techniques used by Arthur Miller to convey particular
themes, I have added subtle pieces to my artwork to show pressure at work. The
image of a simple red stick figure, standing out against the majority of blue figures
shows a message of standing up for yourself like John Proctor did. The grey rock
that sits on the light side of the circle represents the constant pressure that sits on
every person in Salem as they choose the fate of them and everyone around them. It

The Future Of The Millennial Generation
My Grandma used to tell me that every penny saved is a penny earned, but what she

because they have to be to make it with the costly expenses and in the future if they

More Job opportunities are out there, but they are looking for more experience and

While student loans rank the highest debt on the list, credit card debt is another form

Terrorism And The Terrorist Attacks
September 11, 2001 is a day many will not forget. This is one of the deadliest
terrorist attacks on U.S. soil, in U.S. history. The Islamic extremists group, al
Qaeda led by Osama bin Laden, had hijacked four planes two of which had crashed
into World Trade Center, one in the Pentagon, and the other in an open field in
Pennsylvania. These attacks left many people dead and the U.S. in a state of
chaos. After September 11, 2001 many were affected by the lives loss, the stock
market being closed for several days, wars began over seas, the Department of
Homeland Security was created, airport security became more stringent, and
families weren t able to get financial aid. Many people were affected by the lives loss

U.S. stock market which was closed because of them. The stock market was closed
for four trading days, which didn t make things better for the U.S because the stock
market had already been behind. The stock market remained closed until September

plan they decided on was to rig bombs in the High School cafeteria and exploding

Electric Cars Essay
You shower, brush your teeth, turn off the lights and plug in your...car. This seems
like an estranged concept but will be or at least should be a reality for most
motorists. Electric cars are a better means of transportation than gasoline powered
cars, due to the fact that they save you money in multiple ways, help combat global
warming and boost a country s economy.
To begin with, electric cars are better for the planet. They decrease the emission of
greenhouse gases and increase air quality. Initially, the emissions free quality of EVs
also stems from the design of the motor. It is powered by a process called induction
which uses electric and magnetic forces to make the motor spin. This way there is no

investment. The two main points discussed will create an interest and incentive to
allow the following point to become reality.
At last, the point that will most likely spur people to change their mode of
transportation is that EVs help countries economies. The need for the manufacture
of electric cars and the installment of a charging infrastructure will create jobs. In
response to critics who say that petrol factory will be left jobless, that is not the
case because these workers will often be the same ones who will work on EVs; these
automotive industry workers have the necessary skills to build all kinds of vehicles
regardless of a change in the drivetrain. Not only will the manufacturing require a
large workforce but also the construction, maintenance, and operation of charging
stations: Recent electric vehicle penetration brings the necessity of a high number of
charging stations (YAGCITEKIN, UZUNOGLU, and KARAKAS).
All in all, there is insurmountable evidence pointing to the idea that electric vehicles
are the superior alternative to petrol vehicles and that they should be peoples new

Self Conscious Concept Of Self Consciousness
Self Conscious of the Self Consciousness within a Self Conscious
Julissa Almonte Santana
Salem College
Fall 2016
When introducing the concept of self consciousness, it can be very difficult for
individuals to understand that there are many forms of self consciousness. Many
already have a definition in mind as soon as they hear the word self consciousness. It
is made up of many concepts because it isn t just a cognitive state, rather, many
cognitive states. The mind processes many things as opposed to just knowing
things. Humans are capable of doing and desiring many things while self
evaluating and questioning oneself. Everyone is able to consider their own actions
and to think about themselves. When thinking, humans are able to consider ideas
and depictions regarding the self and others. Regarding oneself allows for
evaluating self worth in refinement to common social roles (Bermudez). A
common issue when defining self consciousness is being able to cover all of it s
multiple concepts and aspects. Many of these aspects are very simple while others
tend to go beyond and start to overlap each other. A common way of defining self
consciousness is to first define consciousness. With this, we are involving being
aware of all surroundings and perceiving the world in a certain way. It also involves
the sense of control, the idea that humans are able to control their conduct and mental
processes (Posner). Defining self consciousness though consciousness will only limit

Arlington, TX. In a 212 acres area it was built in a year at a cost of $10 million
dollars. The park was the first to feature log flume and mine train rides and later, the
first 360 degree looping roller coaster, modern parachute drop and man made river

The inventive theming afforded guest a chance to experience places and times that

perceived by your manager and co workers plays a large role in things as minor as
your day to day happiness at the office and as major as the future of your career.
No matter how hard you work or how many brilliant ideas you may have, if you
can t connect with the people who work around you, your professional life will
suffer. The good news is that there are several concrete things that you can do to
improve your social skills and become closer to your colleagues. All of these tools
will ultimately help you succeed in today s working world.

5 People together: Create an environment that encourages others to work together.
Treat everyone equally, and don t play favorites. Avoid talking about others behind
their backs. Follow up on other people s suggestions or requests. When you make a
statement or announcement, check to see that you have been understood. If folks see
you as someone solid and fair, they will grow to trust you.
6 Resolve conflicts: Take a step beyond simply bringing people together, and
become someone who resolves conflicts when they arise. Learn how to be an
effective mediator. If Co workers bicker over personal or professional
disagreements, arrange to sit down with both parties and help sort out their
differences. By taking on such a leadership role, you will garner respect and
admiration from those around you.
7 Communicate clearly: Pay close attention to both what you say and how you say it.
A clear and effective communicator avoids misunderstandings with co workers,
collegues, and associates. Verbal eloquence projects an image of intelligence and
maturity, no matter what your age. If you tend to blurt out anything that comes to
mind, people won t put much weight on your words or opinions.
8 Humour them: Don t be afraid to be funny or clever. Most people are drawn to a
person that can make them laugh. Use your sense of humour as an effective tool to
lower barriers and gain people s affection.

The Life Of Everyday Life In Colonial America
Everyday life in colonial America was made up of large cities, rural settlements,
and frontier regions. Life in colonial America was nothing short of difficult. The
large cities were made up of many classes of people ranging from wealthy to
slaves. There were some that had very specific skills as well as communication
skills and others who had nothing. The wealthy people dreamed of what they were
going to do in the future, however the middle class people dreamed but did not
plan. They were better off than the average poor person, but still worked very hard
sunrise to sunset. In this paper I will provide information on what life was like for
various aspects and people groups in colonial America.
Slavery in colonial America was a hard way of life. Slaves varied in ages and
gender. Slaves were assigned a task or tasks that had to be completed during the
day. The male slaves would participate in the hard labor such as working on the
farm. The female slaves would generally work in the household, sent on errands or
spent most of their time with the house owner. Female slaves were forced into
sexual relationships for reproduction. Reproduction would either be forced between
one African slave and another or between the slave and the house owner. Slaves
were also treated like livestock and being bought, sold and traded among owners.
For the enslaved people they had to endure being separated from their families when
captured or when sold at the slave market. Their new
Participation Of A Democratic System Of Governance
Participation is more of how the youths conduct themselves during election in helping
them make informed decisions. Participation requires that the youth be at the Centre
of decision making processes. This is critical because in a democratic system of
governance, rule by the people is the underlying and founding principle of democracy
. Engagement is about making them become agents of change, helping them ascend
to decision making institutions.
Opportunities for youth to participate in political processes depend largely on the
political and cultural context. A democratic environment can be more favorable to
participation in general. For the most part, promoting youth participation needs to be
geared towards achieving levels relative to those of the rest of the population.
The focus on youth, in terms of their engagement in the political arena, is a relatively
new priority but extremely timely, particularly in light of recent events and
democratic transitions.
Objectives
To train the youth to actively participate in elective position and governance
To increase the number of youths registering as political party members
To promote youth friendly community based development planning exercises in a
participative and inclusive manner (youth advisory boards)
To encourage the youths be agent of change in good governance and accountability
Scope of the Problem
Decreasing levels of youth participation in elections and shrinking membership in
political parties and traditional
George Rousseau And Jean Jacques Rousseau Essay
The concept of Liberty can be very complex when trying to define it, one of the
reasons for that is that no one seems to agree on what it means to be free. There is
the connotation of the word Liberty which is Freedom from captivity imprisonment,
slavery, or despotic control. (566 Oxford Dictionary) but Liberty is often portrayed as
more than just that. When looking at the past, Liberty is an interesting concept,
considering the social structure at the time and how the king and the church had so
much power. A lot changed with the French Revolution and the abolishment of the
French monarchy but let us take a look a few years before that, where two great
minds of this time had their own opinion of Liberty an how to achieve it.
Denis Diderot and Jean Jacques Rousseau are two of the original Romantics; they
both brought new ideas to the world and tried to change it. Diderot was very big on
man being able to think for themselves, not always being told what to do and how
to do it, he believe in our ability to reason and make our own decisions The finest
privilege of our reason consists in not believing in anything by the impulsion of a
blind and mechanical instinct. Man is born to think for himself. (Denis Diderot, L
Encyclopedie 1751) Rousseau had his own view of liberty, he believed that man
show follow their feelings and not their mind, he believe that nature was man s true
safe haven To feel is to exist, and our feelings come most uncontestebly before our

Use Of Myths In Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart
Myths are used by primitive peoples to record their history to make sure it gets
passed down to future generations. Achebe incorporates folktales and myths into
Things Fall Apart to show how Igbo people use them as tools for teaching their
children the history and values of their ancestors. Many of these myths and fables
draw themselves from the earth, sky, and nature, which the African culture
believes to be a central part of what it means to be human; to have a relationship
with the earth and the humans that were made from it. For Okonkwo, these
folktales are symbols which provide important values and morals in an effort to
keep peace within his tribe and to keep their place in Africa. Okonokwo tells
masculine stories of bloodshed and violence, however Nyowe still preferred the
stories his mother told, which are more interesting and less violent. He remembers
the story his mother often told of the quarrel between the Earth and Sky. Sky
withheld rain for years and crops withered and the dead could not be buried in the
stony Earth. Vulture was sent to Sky to ask for forgiveness. Sky finally decided to
forgive and gave Vulture rain wrapped in tree leaves to give to Earth. On the way
back home Vulture pierced the leaves and the rain fell as it had never fallen
beforeЛ® (53). This story illustrates the clan s dependence on nature for its survival,
and how children are naturally drawn to mother earth and all its wonders. According
to the locust myth,
Native American Food Culture Essay
There is an evident difference in a variety of cultures and traditions throughout the
world. According to Dr. Lucy Long, food culture refers to the practices, attitudes, and
beliefs as well as the networks and institutions surrounding the production,
distribution, and consumption of food. It encompasses the concepts of foodways,
cuisine, and foodsystem and includes the fundamental understandings a group has
about food, historical and current conditions shaping that group s relationship to food,
and the ways in which the group uses food to express identity, community, values,

Along with overweight and obesity issues among Native Americans, is a high
prevalence of eating disorders among adolescent Native Americans. A major
concern that often coincides or results from obesity is type 2 Diabetes. Part of the
cause for higher rates of type 2 Diabetes is the overconsumption of non indigenous

My first reasons against this plea states that Battered Women Syndrome is morally
wrong because women are suggesting that they do not have the same capacity for
self governance as men by holding themselves to different standards and special
treatment under this plea. Battered Women Syndrome can often be called in this
case as a get out of jail free card (Veinsreideris, 619) because the womanmurders her
abuser preemptively and in most cases receives little to no sentence for the act
committed. Battered Women Syndrome often acts as an excuse when dealing with
murder; which is misleading and not suitable to justify self defense because they are
too narrow and unresponsive to evolving biological and social scientific
understandings of human behavior (Morse, 331). I believe that women feel insecure

John Paul II On May 18, 1920, in a small Polish town just outside of Wadowice, a

Roman Catholic Church, and only the second non Italian pope.
Emilia, a schoolteacher, died in childbirth. Wojtyla was nine years old and the

How Does Elie Wiesel Present Adolescence In Night
Childhood and adolescence are sometimes depicted as joyful and innocent or
lugubrious and mournful. Childhood and adolescence are crucial parts of the
evolution of the mind, body, and soul; however, this can be hollowed by the black
hole of reality. In Night by Elie Wiesel, Elie utilizes his happy and peaceful
existence, his corrupted and downtrodden state, and his humanity stripped husk to
portray his loss of faith and humanity chronologically throughout his adolescence.
At the start in the ergosphere of his black hole, Elie was tranquil and happy with

RSPCA
A review of the RSPCA 2010 consolidated statement of financial activities (SOFA),
the income statement for charities, shows a decrease in incoming resources when
compared with fiscal year 2009. Specifically, income from unrestricted, restricted, and
endowment funds declined by ВЈ13.96m or 10.8 percent (RSPCA, p. 19). Existing
and potential funders consider this decrease in assessing the impact to RSPCA
operations and would likely believe the decline indicates a serious challenge that must
be addressed by Society management. The Chief Executive and Chairman discussed
the drop in legacy income in their joint foreword, citing it as the primary reason for
the reduction in total income. In response to this challenge, the Society planned to
implement a new income generation programme in an attempt to diversify their
income generation efforts. The new programme was intended to decrease their
reliance on legacy income, given that the competition

2. Naturalistic Environmental Factor for Carrie One outstanding feature of
naturalism is its stress on the influence of environment upon man s fate. According to
naturalism, man is a helpless pawn, at the mercy of the surrounding. For instance, in
Janie Gerhardt, a novel written in 1911 and wildly considered as the twin sister of
Sister Carrie, Dreiser has his wealthy and seemingly impregnable hero Lester
declare those words, all of us are more or less pawns. We re moved about like
chessman by circumstance over which we have no control . [2] This famous
pronouncement is often regarded as the philosophical
Signage And Dementia
The quality of the environment has an influence on those with dementia, so good
design can help support a person with dementia. Good environment design comprises

Signage is an effective environmental supportive cue to assist people with dementia.
However there is little known in current research about the impact of signage to help

Navigation or wayfinding is to find ones way in the world. Beginning research

These are visual cues that would help people find there way especially if you have
lived in the town for a while. Seeing and understanding it is a restaurant is important
(Pollock, Fuggle, 2013).
To navigate individuals needs the cognitive skill to process spatial information and
sensory information and the physical ability to move the spatial organisation and to
perceive sensory information. Through dementia these processes are reduced (Ing,
2011). So visual cues are a optimistic intervention to help individuals find their way
more easily. Research shows evidence that individuals with AD have difficulty with
wayfinding, yet can still learn their way if the environment is supportive (Davis

Social Mobility Of Poor Kids Should Depend On College...
Social Mobility of Poor Kids Should depend on College Education Andrew
Simmons, author of the article The Danger of Telling Poor Kids That College is the
Key to Social Mobility, argues that educators have utilized one tool in the toolbox to
inspire minority students into believing that their upward social mobilityis dependent
on four years of college education. These educators only considered the difference in
earning power of college graduates versus high schoolgraduates to buttress their
argument. With so much emphasis on going to college, Simmons also contends that
the educators miss the boat and end up causing harm to the poor students. There is
no denying that poor students start from disadvantaged position compared to their
white counterparts in high school, their career parts seem to via in two different
directions. Many of the poor students gravitate towards the liberal arts colleges
while the privileged kids dream of medical or law schools and becoming future
doctors and lawyers. Simmons offers the study conducted by Jean Anyon as another
example of how schools teaching poor students from low income families emphasize
keeping students busy and managing behavior, while a middle class school
deemphasizes individual expression and in depth analysis and reward the dutiful
completion of specific rote tasks. Because the educators have stressed so much on
attending college, thirty two percent of students end up with a major they never
intended to, or
Death Penalty Cruel And Unusual Punishment
So, a man has murdered someone and it s up to you and your pals of the jury to
decide his fate. Will you send him to the electric chair, maybe even give him a shot
of euthanasia? Or will you send him off to jail for some time, let him learn a lesson
and reunite with society? Well, would you? Something neat about the death penalty
is that there s actually only 5 different types of execution, Lethal Injection,
Electrocution, Lethal Gas, Firing Squad, and Hanging. What is death penalty you
may ask? Well, death penalty is when you do something so, HORRIBLY BAD, that
you get killed as a punishment, but Death penalty is horrible because there are too
many innocents convicted, it can be considered a cruel and unusual punishment, and
it has not been proven to deter... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So person A could have murdered someone, but person B could be the one getting
executed. My evidence of this is according to researchnews.osu.edu more than
10,000 innocent people convicted each year alone. So any one of the people that get
executed could be innocent. As you can see we cannot just execute people that we
THINK did bad things, another reason is that it could be considered a cruel and
unusual punishment. (Get ready for about 30+ minutes of your time devoted to this...
My next reason is that it could be considered a cruel and unusual punishment, and it
can be considered one, everyone has free will and can think what they want. There are
4 things to look for when deciding whether it is a cruel and unusual punishment
though. The first of the four is the question Is it degrading to human dignity ? To
answer that, first let s look a the three different lethal injections. 1. Sodium

Paul Revere s Role In The American Revolution
I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country! This famous quote from
Nathan Hale was an example of bravery to show the love he had for his country, just
as many other colonists had. Paul Revere, Boston, and the First Continental Congress
all played important roles in the American Revolution.
Paul Revere was a genial man that saved many lives by warning them of the British
s attack. Racing through the dark, Revere warned the colonists. Paul Revere rode
swiftly, carefully, and vigorously to warn the colonists. He was on a mission.
Everyone must be warned. Time is of the essence. In 1760, Paul Revere became a
Freemason and a member of the Sons of Liberty. Paul Revere was very intelligent.
Paul Revere s notorious Midnight Ride took place on April 18, 1775. ( Paul Revere ).
Paul Revere was captured by the British during his remarkable ride, but he was
released hours later. He was also known as a Boston messenger, which played a
massive role during the war. Paul Revere was certainly ... Show more content on

From April 1775 to March 1776, militiamen from the colonies laid siege on British
held Boston. On June 17, 1775 the Battle of Bunker Hill, an imperative battle during
the American Revolution, took place. The American Soldiers tried to parry the
British, but they could not. ( Siege of Boston ). The Boston Massacre, a fight that
helped sparked the American Revolution, occurred on March 5, 1770. While the Red
Coats stood watch, the colonists began throwing rocks at them. The Boston Tea Party
was another event that had a major impact on the rebellion. Sons of Liberty members
dressed as a local Indian tribe and began throwing British tea off a boat in the harbor,
which angered the British greatly. The Boston Harbor inhaled all of the British tea. (
The Boston Massacre ). Boston held many fights during the American Revolution, but
the First Continental Congress played an extensive role in the Revolutionary
The Reader Ap Language Essay
In The Reader, Bernhard Schlink uses the motif of reading throughout all three parts.
Many of the nuances that appear in the relationship between the protagonist, Michael,
and Hannah, stem from Michael reading regularly to Hannah. Schlink expressly
defines and constrains the relationship between Hannah and Michael in Part One
through the motif of reading. Specifically, he further complicates the balance of power
in the relationship, elucidates on the personal bond that the two share, and prescribes
his ideas on relationships through this motif.
Throughout the development of their relationship in Part One, Michael is
consistently submissive to Hannah. His thoughts, as well as his actions, demonstrate
him as being the more docile of the two. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the underpinnings of the power dynamic in their relationship have been
addressed, the motif of reading changes the dynamic between Michael and Hannah.
Schlink uses the act of reading to depart from the dominant style relationship into
something more nuanced. Michael, by reading to Hannah, actually provides a
service that she greatly desires. She regularly pleads for Michael to read to her, as
is portrayed on page 63: Read me something from them. Please, kid? Since Hannah so
desperately desires to learn about literature and the world, she in turn hands over
power Michael; given that he is the only person that Hannah can rely on for regular
reading sessions. Consequently, he manages to retain some power although perhaps
without realizing it in the relationship.
Hannah often requests for Michael to read to her because she cannot read herself, a
fact he is unaware of until Part Two of the novel. She was never taught how to read
and her illiteracy persists up until last few chapters of the novel. In particular
situations, Hannah has been forced to lie in order to keep her illiteracy a secret.
Incidentally, one such time was immediately after she requested that Michael read to
her:
So read it to me!
Read it yourself, I ll bring it for you.
You have such a nice voice, kid, I d rather listen to you than read it myself. (42)
As a result of her illiteracy, she feels strongly about Michael s education, namely, that
he skips school to see her. To

bill is one the most prestigious bills in america. Andrew Jackson who is the face of it
is a controversial decision made in 1929. Does he deserve to on there. Andrew jackson
does not deserve to be on the twenty dollar bill because he put the indian removal
act in motion, he was a sort of a tyrant, and he killed the national bank. First reason
why Andrew Jackson does not deserve to be on the twenty dollar bill because he
put the indian removal act in motion. According to Liberty of congress.gov Indian
Removal Act, the indian removal act was signed on May 28, 1830 to remove the
indians of their land and move them towards new land. This act forced the Indians to
relocate. This land was owned by the indians and a treaty was signed by both the U.S

also abused the power of the veto. According to wikipedia.com List of United States

an act of being a tyrant because he just kicked those who worked hard at their

He also abused the veto because the things he vetoed would have improved
America. These reasons are why people can say Andrew Jackson is a sort of tyrant

Anxiolytics are medications that decrease anxiety while hypnotics promote sleep.
Some medications termed benzodiazepines are effective and used predominantly for
anxiety but aid sleep due to having sedating properties. Benzodiazepine intended uses
are for anxiety (general, panic, anticipatory and anxiety secondary to stress), sleep,
side effects of other medications, agitation, alcohol and other sedative/hypnotic
withdrawal and muscle spasms. Benzodiazepines include diazepam, lorazepam,
clonazepam and alprazolam where all possess addictive properties. Other medications
useful in treating anxiety without sedating properties include buspirone and D
cycloserine.
Prior to prescribing a sleeping pill, it is imperative to assess the nature of the sleep
problem (p 200) as insomnia and sleep apnea which may require specific treatment
outside sleeping pills. Sleeping pills are subdivided into five categories namely;
benzodiazepines, specific GABA A receptor agonists, sedating antidepressants,
medications that change the circadian rhythm and over the counter sleeping pills.

to an inflammatory response of the bronchial mucosa. Asthma is a familial
condition that can be triggered by exposure to allergens, smoke, indoor/outdoor
pathogens, viral infections. Symptoms include chest constriction, patients making
wheezing noises or gasping for air during inhalations and aspirations. Nurses must

saturation levels while taking vital signs. 15.Down syndrome Down syndrome
(Trisomy of Chromosome 21) occurs when there is a defect during meiosis,
typically after a mother s egg cells have remained in suspension for a prolonged
period of time (risk increases with age) or during translocation errors during early
embryonic development. Individuals with Down Syndrome present physical
findings of a low nasal bridge, hypotonia, lowered ears, and short stature. Patients
with Down syndrome may present signs of Alzheimer s disease around 40 years of

Mla Narrative Essay Format

  • 1. Mla Narrative Essay Format Crafting an essay on the MLA narrative essay format can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a delicate balance between adhering to the stringent guidelines of the MLA style and weaving a compelling narrative that engages and captivates the reader. The MLA format demands meticulous attention to detail, from the proper citation of sources to the correct structuring of headers and margins. Juggling these technicalities while ensuring that the narrative maintains coherence and narrative flow can be akin to walking a tightrope. Moreover, the process involves not only understanding the intricacies of the MLA guidelines but also having a keen sense of storytelling. A successful narrative essay should not only meet the rigid formatting requirements but should also immerse the reader in a captivating story, complete with a well-developed plot, relatable characters, and a satisfying resolution. Balancing the technical aspects of the format with the creative demands of storytelling adds an extra layer of complexity to the task. Additionally, finding the right balance between personal expression and adherence to the formalities of the MLA format can be a source of frustration. Striking this equilibrium requires careful consideration of language, tone, and style to ensure that the essay meets both the academic and narrative expectations. In conclusion, writing an essay on the MLA narrative essay format is a challenging process that demands a fusion of technical precision and creative storytelling. Successfully navigating through the intricacies of MLA guidelines while crafting a compelling narrative is no small feat. However, with dedication, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of both the format and narrative storytelling, one can overcome these challenges and produce an essay that is not only academically sound but also engaging for the reader. International and Commercial Risks International Commercial Risks April 1, 2013 International Commercial Risks Business is continually growing on a global level leading to international business partnerships, agreements, and trades. During these types of business relationships disputes are common (University of Phoenix, n.d.). If a dispute occurs one party may chooses to take legal action against the other party. Making the decision to take legal action businesses must make considerations prior to proceeding. Making the right decisions can build a strong relationship between parties. The decision reached through binding arbitration cannot be appealed unless according to Repa (2013), a fraud or misuse of power has taken place (Binding Versus Nonbinding Arbitration). Nonbinding arbitration allows an appeal to be filed by one or both parties. A trial may be requested in this case. In addition to contract considerations one should be aware of local culture and local laws involved. In the case of the CadMex simulation, provided by the University of Phoenix, culture was brought to attention in considering legal matters based on male employees who refused to shave their facial hair based on a religious practice for the time frame of one week. The company policy clearly stated that employees facial hair is to be clean shaven. CadMex suspended the employees based on breach of contract for company policy. The employees filed a lawsuit. CadMex should consider the local culture in this scenario. In considering the local culture CadMex can consider making accommodations to the employees in order to build a better business relationship within the country of Candorea so long as the accommodations are not too burdensome. CadMex s best option to satisfy all parties involved is to revoke the suspension. Providing accommodations does not have to be overly burdensome to CadMex. One accommodation is to provide hairnets to the selected employees during the time the employees are observing the religious belief
  • 4. The Telecommunications Act Of 1996 President Bill Clinton created the Telecommunications Act of 1996 to promote fair competition in the United States telecommunications market. President Clinton s goal was to establish an open market so that any business can compete in the telecommunications field. Since the creation of the Telecommunications Act, there has been a bevy of radio and televisionmergers. One can safely say that with all the recent mergers, some companies have become monopolies in their respective fields. The Telecommunications Act primary focus is to help businesses compete against other businesses so that the consumer can reap the benefits of lower prices for services, a wider selection of services from different companies, more jobs, and a better... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Act will prevent a single broadcast group owner from dominating the national media market (The American Presidency Project, 2016). The problem with this statement is that in today s society this is not true. Currently, 90 percent of the media is owned by just six companies: Viacom, News Corporation, CBS, Comcast, Disney, and Time Warner (Corcoran, 2016). These six companies shape global political views and cover Presidential elections in America. AT T whom which currently owns Directv has now purchased Time Warner Inc. (De la Merced, 2016). This purchase is still pending approval from the Federal Communications Commission and the United States Department of Justice (James, 2017). AT T would own HBO, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Turner Classic Movies, TNT, TBS, Tru TV, SNY, Peachtree TV, and The CW. AT T would sell cable service and own cable content. The interesting thing about AT T is that they were the sole provider of telephone service in the United States. An anti trust lawsuit broke up the Bell system phone companies to relinquish the monopoly that AT T had on phone service (New America, 2010). The Telecommunications Act of 1996 creates one huge problem? The Telecommunications Act of 1996 doesn t allow fair competition; it enables large Media companies to become conglomerates.

Shetty College of Science, Commerce Management Studies, Powai ABSTRACT: Today is the time which can be marked when we can see four generation rubbing their shoulders more or less happily under the same roof of an organisation. Though these generations show drastic variations in terms of their values, commitments, motivational factors, dissatisfiers, work environment, approach towards job etc., yet every generation has got some exceptional benefits for the organisation. Organisation cannot afford to value any of them less than the others. Talking about IT industry, we can hardly see anyone from the oldest generation who are called as the Traditionalists. As the IT sector has reached its forties you can find atleast three generations Baby Boomers, Generation X and Generation Y joining hands for the success of the organisation. Easier said than done, managing these three generation has given a tough time to the top managers. The industries have seen their employees below 25 years of age growing into more matured workforce and their changed focus have forced the Human Resource Managers to change their basic policies, which were initially made for care free employees recruited freshly from the campus. This situation has not only posed a challenge in terms of managing the differences but also making them work under same policy framework. This research work helps in

The sweeps are innocent victims of the cruelest exploitation. Their lives are restricted. The imagery the speaker uses show the awful conditions in which the children were working in. The first stanza, the speaker in the poem introduces himself by saying that he lost his mother and his father sold him in a very young age. In stanza 6 he simply awakes from that dream, content with the fact that there is hope. Tom is experiencing dreamy joy for spiritual comfort. This part of the poem are stating that the boys have something to look forward to after life on earth. The anguish of it is that the boys are looking forward to death. In stanza 4 is mentioned the unlocking of coffins by an angel and being washed clean in a river. These are Christian citations to Christ s resurrection and also baptism. The beginning of the stanza 5, the speaker mentions the boys in the dream were naked and white, all their bags left behind (17). Naked and white suggests innocence and purity. Baggage denotes sin and the cares of the

The Titanic is very important to us because it helps us remember the people who went down with their ship. Back then the Titanic was just not a ship that people went on it was a Royal Mail Ship. The Titanic is very important because people are still arguing about who is responsible for the sinking of the Titanic. I believe J. Bruce Ismay is responsible for the sinking of the Titanic because he was more powerful than Captain Smith. Although some people think Captain Smith is responsible for the sinking of the Titanic. However, I think that it is J. Bruce Ismay because he told Captain Smith to accelerate the speed of the ship after they received 7 ice warnings. They say that Captain Smith didn t put as many people on the lifeboats as he could and that s true, but Ismay didn t have enough lifeboats for everyone on the ship. Bruce Ismay did that, it makes me think that he is responsible for the sinking of the Titanic. Like he did not take time to test the ship and take precautions and that is the important thing you need to do before you get the ship on the water. One more thing I am pinning J. Bruce Ismay on is that he skipped over a good crew and did not have a good person for every single job on the Titanic. One last major thing that he did was that he took a lifeboat for himself and the crew was not supposed to take a lifeboat they were supposed to go down with the

Maddox DeVry University April 21, 2013 Role of Women in the Paleolithic and Modern Period * Women of the Paleolithic and Modern periods both have role models that have different meanings such as their role in society and their body image; however the way the males have treated these women showed little respect. During the Paleolithic period a sculpture was carved from using simple carving tools to create a masterpiece that is known today as the Venus of Willendorf. The Venus of Willendorf has suggested to archeologists that the sculpture was to have been an image of fertility, which is how their existence survived for so many years. Looking at the sculpture also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These different roles are what have inspired women; if you can imagine it then you can become it. In, 1992 President Barbie was created which led the way for the feminist that shape the future political leaders (Zaslow amp;Schoenberg, 2012). The United States had the first female run for office in 2008, only 16 years after President Barbie was introduced to the young women of America. This is only the beginning of what the women of today s society are going to do as a political leader. Venus of Willendorf was a role model for the perfect female form for her obesity; however today women have strived to have the Barbie look. In the, Stone Age fat was beautiful because it meant vitality and fertility (Paige, 2004, p. 4). There were many different body shapes of woman from the Paleolithic period, but there is only one that really stood out and served as a role model for their village. Venus of Willendorf is sculpted in a way that clearly shows her obesity and why she is the role model for the Paleolithic period. She was sculpted with a large stomach that overhangs a fat roll that extends around the middle, a flat butt and large thighs that are pressed together on her knees. This is one of the earliest signs of obesity in women and they still struggle with this in the modern society. In today s society everyone has imagined to have that perfect body. Many experts have suggested that Barbie is a root cause for many problems with women
  • 11. Sandwich Panels Advantages And Disadvantages INTRODUCTION 1.1GENERAL In this chapter, a background study on the concept of insulated concrete sandwich panels is introduced. The specialities of its various parts and practical applications are cited. 1.2HISTORY Precast/prestressed concrete sandwich wall panels are composed of two concrete wythes or layers separated by a layer of rigid foam plastic insulation. Sandwich panels are created in North America for quite 50 years. Early sandwich panels were of the non composite kind and consisted of a thick, structural wythe (or hollow core slabs, double tees, or single tees), a layer of rigid insulation, and a non structural wythe. Composite sandwich panels were factorymade later. Materials employed in the manufacture of sandwich panels are the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sandwich panels are usually designed as one way structural elements; shear forces are generated due to longitudinal bending in the panels. In addition, the shear connectors may be used to transfer the weight of a non structural wythe to the structural wythe. Shear connectors that are designed to be stiff in one direction and flexible in another are called one way shear connectors [4]. Examples of these are longitudinal steel wire trusses, solid ribs of concrete, flat sleeve anchors, fiber composite rectangles, and small diameter bent bars (Fig.1.1). Care should be taken in the manufacturing process to maintain the preferred orientation of one way connectors. Some shear connectors are stiff in at least two perpendicular directions and will consequently transfer in both longitudinal and transverse horizontal shear. Examples of these are solid zones of concrete (often located at each end of the panel and at lifting points), connection plates, cylindrical sleeve anchors, and crown anchors. Connection plates and crown anchors are normally installed in solid zones of concrete and therefore it can be considered as rigid shear connections
  • 12. Rhetorical Analysis Of Pamela 2.3 Tropes Tropes are double signs; they involve the non literal substitution of a new signified for the usual one. To comprehend a trope, a distinction needs to be made between what is said and what is meant (Chandler 2007: 135). In this analysis, the photograph of Pamela represented as meat and the phrases; All animals have the same parts and Have a heart , are tropes. Metaphor, metonymy, synecdoche and irony are the four basic tropes (Chandler 2007: 135). Tropes in visual as well as verbal forms can be seen as reflecting our fundamentally relational understanding of reality. Reality is framed within systems of analogy. Figures of speech enable us to see one thing in terms of another (Chandler 2007: 125). For example the words ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case Pamela represents the ideal woman, other women are measured by this constructed ideal, and consequently all women are then seen as consisting of labelled parts , like Pamela in Figure 1. The segmented body of Pamela portrayed in this advertisement is problematic, because it objectifies women in general. Instead of representing a woman s body as a whole , it suggests that women consist of parts . 2.3.3 Irony or ironic statements signify the opposite of their literal signification. Understatement, overstatement and exaggeration can also be regarded as ironic (Chandler 2007: 134). In this analysis the image of Pamela Anderson, combined with the phrase All animals have the same parts can only be seen as ironic exaggeration if the viewer believes that animals are not equal to humans. The overall message signified by Figure 1 is unintentionally ironic. If PETA is against the objectification of animals, and they believe that animals and humans are equal, then the objectification of women and the body represented in this advertisement is ironic, as it reflects the opposite of what PETA stands for i.e. the objectification of all

The Importance Of Social Class In Arthur Mervyn Charles Brockden Brown s novel, Arthur Mervyn, allows readers to join Arthur Mervyn s journey in letting go of his past to create a better present state for himself. Not only does Arthur gain wisdom in his journey, but he also serves as a heroic character by improving the lives of others, whether it be by finding a family s lost money or finding someone a better home. His heroic acts show positivity in a time of despair during the deathly yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia 1793. Along with the epidemic, the novel elaborates on the importance of social classin each of the characters. It then becomes clear that one s social class and reputation are dependent on virtue in this time period. With this focus on social hierarchy, the female prostitutes present in Arthur Mervyn are stigmatized as low class citizens because they lack virtue, regardless of their financial standing. Furthermore, social class during the Early American Republic was not credible: social classes are based on opinion, and are therefore impossible to define with precision (Main 197). Therefore, your social class was dependent on your neighbor s judgement of your character. According to public opinion, farmers were on top of the social ladder since they were seen as honest, virtuous, industrious men that supported the state (Main 211). After the apex of the social hierarchy, followed the professional men descending through the clergy, lawyers, doctors. Still lower were the merchants, lower still

The Metropolitan Police force replaced the volunteers who had until then served in an unpaid capacity to perform police duties. The professional police service then served as a template on which to model other local police forces throughout England and Wales (Joyce, 2012). • 18. The Pros And Cons Of Transgender Restrooms Transgender restrooms have become a growing issue for many businesses in America over the past couple of years since same sex marriage became legal and the LBGT community is being more accepted socially. In America s society today, there is more acceptance of other cultures and religious beliefs, unlike the past where Americans were less likely to accept people that are different from themselves. This is an issue that has brought us together today so that a decision can be made regarding transgenderrestrooms and how to implement the decision into all 400 of our stores immediately. After doing research on the subject, I started to notice a trend in those who opposed the idea of a transgender individual being able to use the same restroom as everybody else. When asked why they opposed the issue they would say because it puts children and women at risk by letting men use the same restroom as them, or something pertaining to the safety of women and children. However, the fact of the matter is there is a minute amount of cases where transgender individuals used inappropriate conduct while in a restroom of an opposite sex in the few stores that allow individuals to use the restroom of the gender they identify as. In fact the cases where it did happen, it was clear to see the individual was not transgender just a sick minded individual manipulating the rules and not using them how the law intended. Some states have actually passed laws on this subject. North Carolina and South

Writings produced by the early Greeks, in my opinion, even rival modern day literature. Hard to believe considering everything the human race has experienced and endured up to this point. With so many Greek tragedies, my favorite has to be The Flight of Icarus. Our story begins on the isle of Crete. The earliest known settlers were the Minoans. King Minos ruled this island nation. The offspring of their lovemaking was a monster called the Minotaur. The creature had the head and tail of a bull on the body of a man. It caused such terror and destruction on Crete that Minos himself summoned Daedalus. He ordered the architect to build a gigantic, intricate labyrinth from which escape would be impossible. The Minotaur was captured and locked in the labyrinth. Every year for nine years, seven youths and maidens came as a tribute from Athens. These young people were locked in the labyrinth for the Minotaur to feast upon. When the Greek hero Theseus reached Athens, he learned of the Minotaur and the sacrifices, and wanted to end this. Examples Of Social Pressure In The Crucible I ve chosen to represent the theme Social Pressure in my creative piece; everything I ve shown in my artwork has been chosen with the idea of conveying the concept of Pressure. A key figure here is Mary Warren, the Proctors maid. It also ties to the play where Elizabeth is accused of witchcraft for having a similar poppet with a needle stuck in it. Much like the different techniques used by Arthur Miller to convey particular themes, I have added subtle pieces to my artwork to show pressure at work. The image of a simple red stick figure, standing out against the majority of blue figures shows a message of standing up for yourself like John Proctor did. Many already have a definition in mind as soon as they hear the word self consciousness. It is made up of many concepts because it isn t just a cognitive state, rather, many cognitive states. The mind processes many things as opposed to just knowing things. Humans are capable of doing and desiring many things while self evaluating and questioning oneself. Everyone is able to consider their own actions and to think about themselves. When thinking, humans are able to consider ideas and depictions regarding the self and others. Regarding oneself allows for evaluating self worth in refinement to common social roles (Bermudez). A common issue when defining self consciousness is being able to cover all of it s multiple concepts and aspects. Many of these aspects are very simple while others tend to go beyond and start to overlap each other. A common way of defining self consciousness is to first define consciousness. With this, we are involving being aware of all surroundings and perceiving the world in a certain way. Participation requires that the youth be at the Centre of decision making processes. This is critical because in a democratic system of governance, rule by the people is the underlying and founding principle of democracy . Engagement is about making them become agents of change, helping them ascend to decision making institutions. Opportunities for youth to participate in political processes depend largely on the political and cultural context. A democratic environment can be more favorable to participation in general. For the most part, promoting youth participation needs to be geared towards achieving levels relative to those of the rest of the population. George Rousseau And Jean Jacques Rousseau Essay The concept of Liberty can be very complex when trying to define it, one of the reasons for that is that no one seems to agree on what it means to be free. There is the connotation of the word Liberty which is Freedom from captivity imprisonment, slavery, or despotic control. (566 Oxford Dictionary) but Liberty is often portrayed as more than just that. When looking at the past, Liberty is an interesting concept, considering the social structure at the time and how the king and the church had so much power. A lot changed with the French Revolution and the abolishment of the French monarchy but let us take a look a few years before that, where two great minds of this time had their own opinion of Liberty an how to achieve it. Man is born to think for himself. (Denis Diderot, L Encyclopedie 1751) Rousseau had his own view of liberty, he believed that man show follow their feelings and not their mind, he believe that nature was man s true safe haven To feel is to exist, and our feelings come most uncontestebly before our thoughts

Naturalistic Environmental Factor for Carrie One outstanding feature of naturalism is its stress on the influence of environment upon man s fate. According to naturalism, man is a helpless pawn, at the mercy of the surrounding. For instance, in Janie Gerhardt, a novel written in 1911 and wildly considered as the twin sister of Sister Carrie, Dreiser has his wealthy and seemingly impregnable hero Lester declare those words, all of us are more or less pawns. Social Mobility of Poor Kids Should depend on College Education Andrew Simmons, author of the article The Danger of Telling Poor Kids That College is the Key to Social Mobility, argues that educators have utilized one tool in the toolbox to inspire minority students into believing that their upward social mobilityis dependent on four years of college education. These educators only considered the difference in earning power of college graduates versus high schoolgraduates to buttress their argument. With so much emphasis on going to college, Simmons also contends that the educators miss the boat and end up causing harm to the poor students. There is no denying that poor students start from disadvantaged position compared to their white counterparts in high school, their career parts seem to via in two different directions. Many of the poor students gravitate towards the liberal arts colleges while the privileged kids dream of medical or law schools and becoming future doctors and lawyers. Simmons offers the study conducted by Jean Anyon as another example of how schools teaching poor students from low income families emphasize keeping students busy and managing behavior, while a middle class school deemphasizes individual expression and in depth analysis and reward the dutiful completion of specific rote tasks. Because the educators have stressed so much on attending college, thirty two percent of students end up with a major they never intended to, or

  • 45. The Reader Ap Language Essay In The Reader, Bernhard Schlink uses the motif of reading throughout all three parts. Many of the nuances that appear in the relationship between the protagonist, Michael, and Hannah, stem from Michael reading regularly to Hannah. Schlink expressly defines and constrains the relationship between Hannah and Michael in Part One through the motif of reading. Specifically, he further complicates the balance of power in the relationship, elucidates on the personal bond that the two share, and prescribes his ideas on relationships through this motif. While the underpinnings of the power dynamic in their relationship have been addressed, the motif of reading changes the dynamic between Michael and Hannah. Schlink uses the act of reading to depart from the dominant style relationship into something more nuanced. Michael, by reading to Hannah, actually provides a service that she greatly desires. She regularly pleads for Michael to read to her, as is portrayed on page 63: Read me something from them. Please, kid? Since Hannah so desperately desires to learn about literature and the world, she in turn hands over power Michael; given that he is the only person that Hannah can rely on for regular reading sessions. Consequently, he manages to retain some power although perhaps without realizing it in the relationship. Hannah often requests for Michael to read to her because she cannot read herself, a fact he is unaware of until Part Two of the novel. She was never taught how to read and her illiteracy persists up until last few chapters of the novel. In particular situations, Hannah has been forced to lie in order to keep her illiteracy a secret. Incidentally, one such time was immediately after she requested that Michael read to her: So read it to me! Read it yourself, I ll bring it for you. You have such a nice voice, kid, I d rather listen to you than read it myself.
