Behavior Of Fish In An Egyptian Tea Garden

IB English HL 2, Period 5
01/22/18
Behavior of Fish in an Egyptian Tea Garden Keith Douglas Behavior of Fish in an Egyptian Tea Garden was
written in 1968 and published in the Poetry of the Forties. The setting of the poem takes place in an egyptian
tea garden as presumably stated in the title. In the poem, Keith Douglas strategically emphasizes a woman s
ability to entice and seduce men with her beauty, as well as the same woman being objectified through the
usage of structure, language and style. To begin, the first stanza introduces the woman and further
establishes the setting. A simile is used to introduce a woman who is being admired by other men, As a
white stone draws down the fish/ she on the seafloor of the afternoon/ draws down men s glances and their
cruel wish/ for love (1). The woman is representing the white stone which draws the attention of the fish,
who represent men. However, the white stone that represents the woman is ironic because the color white
usually implies innocence and purity, which is the opposite of the woman represented ... Show more content

It also implies how women are objectified by men. The poem has 7 stanzas with 4 lines each, showing a
sense of balancement within the poem and the speaker. However, even though the poem looks like it follows
a rhyme scheme, it does not. The first four stanzas have a rhyme scheme differing from one another and the
last three stanzas have no rhyme scheme at all. This could connect to the idea of relationships and the idea of
appearance vs. reality. In other words, a relationship might not be what it looks like, and could question the
idea of love in general. The use of structure, language and style was effectively used throughout the poem to
emphasize the objectification of women and their ability to seduce men with their

on different chemical substance applied. 3. To observe physiological and immunological properties utilized
by different species of bacteria.
INTRODUCTION:
Bacteria biochemical testing can determine the types and numbers in terms of colony forming units of
bacteria present in a sample of different chemical. The testing could be focused on a specific type of
bacteria, medical bacteria or a broad range of environmental bacteria. Since bacteria are present in virtually
any environment, it s important to be clear why the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Enlightenment Guidance To Enlightenment
The Guidance to Enlightenment In Siddhartha, by Hermann Hesse, the well respected son of a Brahmin,
named Siddhartha, departs from his fortunate lifestyle to seek enlightenment with his childhood friend,
Govinda. Along his path of enlightenment, Siddhartha s head becomes turned by the many pleasures and
temptations the world offers. He continuously evolves, living many different lifestyles, such as that of a
Samana, a wealthy man, and a Ferryman. Siddhartha shall overcome his desires and discover the secret that
will ultimately lead him to his own enlightenment. Through the lessons and instructional techniques mentors
may offer, Hermann Hesse illustrates Siddhartha s interpretation of their teachings and how he integrates
these teachings into his path to enlightenment. Although he does not pay his allegiance to the Buddha and
his doctrine, Siddhartha s encounter with the Illustrious One allows him to still take away a lesson of greater
value. Siddhartha acquires an understanding of how the world allows all thing to correlate to one another,
through the Buddha s teachings and his explanation about salvation from suffering. When Siddhartha and
Govinda, who still seek a fitting path to enlightenment, gather together with pilgrims of Buddhism, they hear
the Illustrious One talk about suffering, the origin of suffering, the way to release from suffering. Life was
pain, the world was full of suffering, but the path to the release from suffering had been found. There was

Essay On The Middle Ages
England in the Middle Ages
The Middle Ages represents a periodization of European history which took place from the 5th century to
the 15th century; this age was also know as Dark Ages because of the complexity of the period and lack of
written documentation and archeological evidence. The Middle Ages was a time of tremendous historical,
social and linguistic changes.
Great Britain during the Middle Ages (from the 5th century withdraw of Roman forces from the province of
Britannia and the Germanic invasions, until the Early modern period) was divided into a number of
independent kingdoms; by the High Middle Ages, after the end of the Viking Age and the Normal Conquest,
the kingdoms of England and Scotland came forth as the main poles of political power. The medieval period
on England can be dated from the arrival in Kent of Anglo Saxon troops led by the legendary Hengest and
Horsa. Subsequently the Brythonic, Celtic powers were conquered by Jutes, Angles and Saxons Germanic
tribes, from the contemporary Angeln and Jutland areas of northern Germany and mainland Denmark. ...

From a political point of view, the Norman Conquest of England divides medieval Britain in two distinct
phases of cultural and political history. From a linguistic point of view the Norman Conquest had only a
limited effect, Old English evolving into Middle English, although the Anglo Norman language would
remain the language of those that ruled for two centuries at least, before mingling with Middle English. At
the height of pre Norman medieval English power, a single English king ruled from the border with Scotland

Essay On Chicago
Baseball in Chicago was very big it grew a lot in Chicago back then in the 1800 s.
From the first click of the turnstiles to the last crack of the bat, a baseball game is perhaps the most truly
American of anything in the United States ( Project ). This is how baseball started up and began all over and
in Chicago.
Before 1900, organized baseball struggled along more or less uncertainty, with the National League the only
organization of real strength and permanence ( Project ).This was the beginning of the baseball industry and
baseball all over the world.. The Chicago City League reached its nineteenth century peak in popularity in
1890, but the circuit was disbanded after the 1895 season when the better teams opted to play the financially
more attractive schedules of an independent.( encyclopedia ) From 1920 to 1926, the Chicago Public League
high school champion played the New York City champion in a series of intercity championship games,
winning three of seven games.( encyclopedia ). The top clubs returned to playing as independents and the
City League was no longer the major attraction it had once been.( encyclopedia ). Other states in the US
started baseball leagues and then the MLB was created, and soon in chicago there were 2 major league

paragraphs, please describe what you see as the major differences between these information sources. (Need

The academic article was written as a way to publish results of a study. It quickly laid out the information it
had to provide in a summary and then proceeded to be more detailed about the study, all the methods and
statistics that were collected, and what conclusions were made. It mainly focused on how energy drinks can
lead to the drinking of more and various sugar based drinks.

How much time do you think went into the creation of each of these sources? Think about the process it
took the author to find the information, write, and get the material published? Is there any oversight (for
example, an editor) before getting the material published?
I believe all three of these had some type of editing involved but to different extents. Obviously the
academic article would have gone through a peer review process in order to be published. The academic
article would have taken much longer to complete than the other two.
The magazine article would have taken some time to publish as it is a quarterly magazine (although if this
article was only published online this might not be relevant), and it would have had a good amount of
editing. There is an editor whose job is to help decide what gets published and what doesn t but this process
most likely lets through more than the same process in the academic world does. The author had many
sources and took his time writing covering the issue in a thorough manner.
The news article had to get information from multiple sources and sort through the data of a scientific study.
This would have taken sometime and the editing process some more. This could have taken some days or
weeks to finish. It had only approximately 500 fewer words than the magazine

Personality Stability and Change in Trait Theories of...
The evaluation of personality stability and change across the life span is largely determined by theoretical
beliefs. While some scholars have a more deterministic viewpoint and consider human personality as fairly
predictable and stable over time (e.g. biogenetic determinism), other theorists view personality as fluid and
highly malleable (e.g. behaviorism). The intermediate stance assumes a bidirectional relationship between
heredity and environment, which allows for both consistency and change in personality. Moreover, some
theorists introduce a third element to a biosocial model the individual (e.g. transactional model of
socialization). Evaluation of personality stability is difficult, seeing lack of consensus on what ... Show more

Don Juan). Allport used an idiographic approach that emphasized uniqueness of individuals, evaluating
categories of values within a person, instead of across groups. This approach reduces researchers bias as the
study is focused on investigation of traits presented in each individual, rather than a theorized central trait
(Burger, 2010). Allport was influential in conceptualizing of personality, but his trait model is rather
philosophical than scientific. Falsification of his hypothesis and organization of psychological data under his
theory is difficult, and, consequently, measurement of personality stability or change is problematic.
Contrary to Allport, personality analysis of Eysenck was nomothetic in nature, with strong emphases on
biological foundations of traits. To construct and explain personality he used typical for the natural sciences
approach that support generalization. Through statistical evaluation Eysenck established two main bipolar
dimensions of personality, which he called supertraits extraversion/introversion (E) and neuroticism/stability
(N). Later, he added another dimension, psychoticism/superego functioning (P), which maintained less
defined. According to Eysenck, psychological disorders are found at the extremes of personalities, where
neuroticism determines predisposition to anxiety, hysteria, depression, and obsessive compulsive tendencies.

Every floor harbors a number of ICU rooms. These are laid out so that the bed is in the center of the room
allowing staff to treat a patient from all sides. In the event that a patient needs to be moved from an ICU
room to surgery, the ceiling boom in an ICU room has an equipment arm and portable trolley with battery
that detaches and can go with the patient, saving critical preparation for transport time. All of these features
are built into each room to allow the rooms to function as needs develop. Unlike most hospitals, every floor
here is dedicated to a particular specialty and all of the support equipment and supplies for those patients is
located on the very same floor. Crisscrossing corridors in the nurse s area make access to the supplies equal
distance from any of the patient rooms. Finally, every floor has its own satellite pharmacy, dialysis storage,
respiratory therapy workrooms, and resident doctor sleep rooms, making every floor nearly self sufficient.
The latest wireless technology has been installed so that the hospital is paperless, that is, it uses advanced
communication technologies that provide both medical professionals and patient s better access to relevant

The Classroom That I Completed My Field Experience Essay
The classroom that I completed my field experience in was a self contained ninth through twelfth grade. The
class consists of four male students, a teacher, and two paraprofessionals. The students in the classroom have
severe behaviors that do not allow them to be successful in a regular classroom. I completed the observation
over a period of four days. The first day that I went to observe was in the morning from 8:30 to 9:30. When I
arrived, the students were leaving the cafeteria from eating breakfast. Once they got to the classroom, they
unpacked their backpacks, putting their agendas and folders into a basket on that is on the teacher s desk.
The students then sat down at their desk and began working on the morning journal. The journal topic for
the day was What is your favorite subject? Why? One of the students wrote his journal within ten minutes,
while it took the other students about thirty minutes for them to complete the journal. One of the students in
the class kept getting out of his seat to come and talk to the teacher and paraprofessional. He wanted them to
take a picture of him. They would tell him no and that he needed to return to his seat. He sat there for the
whole thirty minutes and only wrote a few words down on his paper. Asking to have his picture taken is
something that he asked them about ten or more times a day. At 9:00, the paraprofessional transitioned the
students into a Language Arts lesson. The class uses Unique Learning for

Evaluating The President Is The Best President
Evaluating the President Essay Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man s character,
give him power. Abraham Lincoln ( Quotes , par. 4). Lincoln was able to lead the country successfully in a
position of great power, even when there was pressure and hardship. President Lincoln is the best president
because he was decisive, kindhearted, and trustworthy. Decisiveness is essential for a great leader because
they must know what they want to do, and then they must confidently act on it. One example where Lincoln
showed decisiveness is his decision to hold Fort Sumter, and later his decision to declare war. One day after
President Lincoln took office, he received a message from Major Robert Anderson, commander of the troops
at Fort Sumter. Lincoln was informed that the troops were running low on supplies, such as ammunition and
food. Lincoln had to decide whether to order the troops to stay, or to give up the Fort to the Confederacy by
leaving and coming back to the Union. He asked his cabinet for advice, and even though there were
conflicting opinions, Lincoln did what he thought was best . Lincoln decided that he would continue to have
the troops hold the fort. He would try to get supplies to them by sending an unarmed boats to Fort Sumter.
The boats were unarmed so that if the Confederate troops attacked, they would look aggressive and violent.
In the end, this approach helped prevent four states from seceding the Union ( Fort Sumter 1 5). The

My True Friend
True friends are like flawless diamonds, very valuable and hard to come by. We all have had or still have
friends that we consider to a beautiful diamond. That friend that is always there for you through thick and
thin. That friend that you are like my family with rather than friends. These kind of friends are the ones that
last forever just like diamonds. Lucky for me I unearthed a rather rare diamond amongst the many cubic
zirconia named Jasmine Frazier. Jasmine and I became acquainted with each other when we were in the
fourth grade. She was the funniest, caring, and most protective person I have ever meet and these three traits
were what made her a friend like no other.
First, Jasmine was my rather adorable, brown skinned, curly haired best friend since we were in the fourth
grade. She was 5 3, one year older than me, always wore a smile that would linger in one s eyes after just
one glance, and had a sense of humor like no other. Both pupils and teachers alike enjoyed her company and
liveliness. There was hardly ever a dull moment when she was around with her funny quips and expressions.
For example, whenever she would tell a joke, there wouldn t be a dried eye left in the room.
Next, Jasmine has a very amiable personality and I learned that in the when we were in the fifth grade. She
was always there for me through good times and especially bad times. For example, there was this one time
when I went to school and I forgot to ask my mom for lunch money. At first, I

Ecocriticism In Silent Spring
As a criticism of the trend, Ecological criticism originated from the United States. The publication of Silent
Spring written by Rachel Carson symbolizes the beginning of the American ecological movement. Just as
Uncle Tom s Cabin written by Harriet Beecher Stowe started Civil War, Silent Spring is the triggers of
American environmental protection movement. Since then, ecocriticism gradually emerged as the times
demand.
This concept can be traced back to the 1970s when Joseph Meek came up with the term literary ecology in
his essay entitled The Comedy of Survival: Studies in Literary Ecology in 1974, advocating that literary
criticism should explore the relationship between humans and other species, and carefully examine and

Impact Of Modernisation Of Ireland
The modernisation of Ireland through the period of 1534 1750 was monumental in the development of
Ireland itself. While it would be impossible to delve into detail of all the occurrences and reforms that
modernised Ireland in this period, it must be acknowledged that the reformation, restoration, plantations,
constitutional changes and various monarch s interests and activities in Ireland greatly affected the changes
in the country. Throughout this essay the focus shall be directed towards political changes, plantations and
Oliver Cromwell s activities in Ireland that led to a modernised early modern Ireland by the end of the 18th
century. In the year 1534 Thomas FitzGerald, the 10th Earl of Kildare, publicly renounced his allegiance to

From the Meiji Restoration era, democratization efforts were undertaken to modernize Japan. A bicameral
system of legislature as well as local, though unelected assemblies were created in the image of the Prussian

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology is one of the five pillars of the criminal justice system. It is

soldiers have been struggling day and night to fight for their independence and freedom. However,
Washington s troops were forced to retreat to Pennsylvania by the British army, and are now stuck in the

Dog Separation Anxiety
Introduction The dog is man s best friend , but what if you can t leave your dog at home alone, not even for
10 minutes. A lot of people have to cope with this problem because their dog is suffering from separation
anxiety. In 1,644 dogs that were diagnosed with behavioral problems over 14,3% had separation anxiety1.
In animal behavioral practices in North America 20 40% of the dogs are diagnosed with separation anxiety2.
And in the United Kingdom, at least 20% of dogs are believed to have separation anxiety , although up to
50% of dogs in the population may display clinical signs at some time.3,4 This is one of the most seen
reasons for owners to surrender their dogs to a shelter.
Plausible cause for so many dogs to have separation anxiety are multiple and could be a combination of
factors. These causes include pathologic over attachment to the owner, negative early experiences such as
too early separation from their dam, a traumatic experience while being alone, and a change in family
circumstances. Dogs may also have a genetic predisposition to develop the condition, because they have
been bred to be socially dependent, devoted, and infantile. 5 These causes don t only lead to separation

By increasing our word bank we expand our knowledge base and increase our thinking capacity. Below are
a list of ten words with their meaning, definitions, examples and appropriate circumstances in which to use
them.
1. Describe the meaning and function of each term.
1. Idiom is a language, dialect or speaking style peculiar to a people.
2. Analogy is a similarity between two like subjects on which a comparison can be based.
3. Metaphor is a figure of speech in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A good example is from Wordsworth s I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud :
A host of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
He doesn t say many or a lot of daffodils, he uses the word host. That means a huge number of daffodils.
Later, he personifies the daffodils, and personification will be covered later on.
Another example is from The Eagle by Tennyson,
He clasps the crag with crooked hands.
The hard consonant sounds add even more to the imagery here.
Simile
A simile compares two things using the words like and as. Examples include: * busy as a bee * clean as a
whistle * brave as a lion * stand out like a sore thumb * as easy as shooting fish in a barrel * as dry as a bone
* as funny as a barrel of monkeys * they fought like cats and dogs * like watching grass grow
Metaphor
When you use a metaphor, you make a statement that doesn t make sense literally, like time is a thief. It only
makes sense when the similarities between the two things become apparent or someone understands the
connection.
Examples include: * the world is my oyster * you are a couch potato * time is money * he has a heart of
stone * America is a melting pot * you are my sunshine
Alliteration
Alliteration is the easiest of the examples of figurative language to spot. It is a repetition of the first
consonant sounds in several words. Some good examples

Alexis De Tocqueville Social Equality
Certainly Alexis experience with the Social equality those minorities faced, during his visit, was viewed as
incompatible with democracy. Neither of the French visitors agreed with the treatment of slaves or the
Native Americans, and Alexis was able to document this in his books. The view Tocqueville had of the
Anglo European view towards Natives and Blacks was as human beings are to animals (Alexis de
Tocqueville 92). In a way Tocqueville predicted what ended up happening, and that Anglo Europeans would
control from the Atlantic to the Pacific and from the North to the South poles. If you look at the Euro
American imperialistic movement west with Spain, French, British, as well as Anglo Americans, surely
Alexis vision became a reality.

Ensure Safety In Front-Facing Seat
Safety remains your first priority as a parent. Whether you have one or a dozen kids, follow several car seat
safety tips and protect your growing family.
1. Use a Rear Facing Seat for as Long as Possible
Infants always sit in a rear facing car seat to protect their legs, spine and brain. However, even after your
child grows into a convertible seat, keep him facing backward until he s at least two for maximum safety.
2. Ensure Safety in Front Facing Seats
When you do decide to place your child in a front facing car seat, utilize a tether strap. It decreases your
child s head movement during a crash. This tether strap secures to your vehicle s top tether anchor, available
in most vehicles sold in the U.S. since 2000.
3. Tighten Straps

Ask a Technician to Check Installation
A certified installation technician can ensure the proper installation of your car seat. Schedule a free check
every time you install a new seat or move the car seat to a different vehicle.
5. Use a Booster Seat Properly
To use a booster seat, your child should be at least four years old, weigh 40 pounds and sit without slouching
or playing with the seat belt. Even if your child is not mature enough for a booster seat until he s six, that s
okay because you want your child to be safe.
Alternatively, keep your child in a booster seat until she can sit in the regular seat with the lap belt resting
across her lower hips, even if that doesn t happen until she s 12 years old.
6. Track the Car Seat s Expiration Date
The plastic material in a car seat becomes brittle over time, so car seats include an expiration date. Whether
you use the car seat for one or multiple kids, know its expiration date and retire your car seat on time.
7. Replace the Car Seat After an Accident
After an accident, a car seat absorbs force from the crash. Typically, it must be replaced, but you can check

Grade Up
Hey Ben, have you seen this? my dad exclaimed. Oh shoot, what could it be this time, I considered? I hoped
that it wouldn t be a bad grade, because I had not done anything yesterday and the days before, as I had been
practicing hard for a game against our rival school. Hopefully it could have been something a kid in his class
from Harvard had made, like last week when someone had made an toy car that ran on carbon dioxide. Seen
what Dad? I stammered. Just come down here! he shouted. Fearing the worst, I wrenched open the door, and
bolted down the stairs to my Dad s office, where I saw him looking at his computer. Immediately, I knew
what he was yelling at me for. So ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the bell rang I bolted out of science and sprinted across the broken pavement, brushing past many
students. When I got inside, I went through my study guide multiple times, until Ms. Baker, my teacher, told
us to put away our study guides and bring out a pencil. She passed out the test, and with a groan I saw how
thick it was. I opened it and it there were 50 questions! Immediately, I got stumped on the first question. And
then the fifth one. And the seventh, tenth, nineteenth, which were all about some crazy kid name Bill trying
to figure out which bike tire was the best for the price. When I finally was finished with the test, there was 2
minutes left in the period. I reluctantly dropped my paper into the scanner, my hand sweaty from
nervousness. Slowly I opened my eyes.
No I whispered to myself. I had gotten a B , which I doubted would have raised my grade up to a C or
above, which is what I needed to be able to shoot some hoops again. But at least I didn t get a C or lower,
which would have surely dropped my grade to an F, and make me in a bigger hole than I was before. So as
the bell rang, I reluctantly got my backpack and went to the parking lot where my dad was going to pick me
up. I knew right off the bat that he was going to ask me what I got. So, I came straight out and told him that I
got a B . But I layed it on thick saying that I was sure that it wouldn t drop my grade, and would probably
bring it up. So when we got home, we checked Grade Check and saw that my grade was only brought up by
3%, to a

The Pan Africanism For Beginners
The Pan African movement as described in Lemelle s Pan Africanism for Beginners is a set of ideas and
ideologies containing social and cultural, political and economic, material and spiritual aspects. Each aspect
is accompanied by a plethora of historical figures and terms unique to the movement, well described
throughout the text and in the presented glossary. This book makes it easy to understand all the information
accompanying each topic. While it does have its strengths and weaknesses, this book as a whole creates and
explains a diverse scope of information. It describes the beginnings of Pan Africanism and shows how the
beliefs of many influential people have stemmed from notions and dreams of years passed.
As a learning experience, Lemelle s Pan Africanism for Beginners provides a strong broad base of
knowledge. Instead of concentrating on the specifics of Pan Africanism, this book covers a broad range of
aspects, from the Diaspora to Garveyism to the Harlem Renaissance. Because there are so many people and
movements associated with Pan Africanism, it is nearly impossible to go into detail about every important
event in one book. Even so, Lemelle does a good job at providing enough detail on each topic, while still
conveying how complex Pan Africanism is. By including many facets of Pan Africanism, Lemelle is able to
spark an interest in the reader so that they can continue onto more specific research. For instance, when
Lemelle explained the Conference of

Germany s Economy And The Economy Essay
Germany While looking at an overview of Germany s economy and individual can tell, the country is very
economically sound and efficient. Even though Germany s economy is currently doing very well, the still
deals with different fiscal policies, lags and deficits, like any other country. There are also a couple of other
factors that play into Germany s economy, including banking and financial institutions, and international
trade.
There are two kinds of fiscal policies; expansionary and contractionary. An expansionary fiscal policy per
the textbook Macroeconomics Principles, Problems, and Policies, consists of government spending, tax
reductions or both, designed to increase aggregate demand and therefore raise real GDP. Germany Cuts 2016
Tax Revenue Forecast Due to their migrant crisis. Their total tax dollars will be lower than previous years to
create pressure in their economy. They made this tax cut so that they stop getting all the immigrants to move
into their economy. Germany is trying to keep their money within their country instead of new consumers
(Bender).
A contractionary consists of government spending regulations, tax increases or both, designed to decrease
aggregate demand and therefore lower or eliminate inflation (Bender). German has a tax reform that causes
and increase in taxes on their fuel and energy. This is going to affect the industries and the producers. They
have done this because of the impact of the competitiveness. The

The Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand Franz at Sarajevo
It was a peaceful day at Sarajevo. The town had gathered to see the parade, but in the end, witnessed a
crime. Archduke Franz and his wife Duchess Sophie were driving through Sarajevo and expected to arrive
peacefully, but Gavrilo Princip had an assassination in mind for the family. The assassination of Duke Franz
Ferdinand was the most significant assassination of the twentieth century. The series of unfortunate events,
the lives of the killer and the killed, the coincidence and the troubles that ensued because of this event were
key to the beginning of World War I.
Franz Ferdinand was traveling to Sarajevo in June 1914 to inspect the imperial armed forces in Bonzia and
Herzgovina. As they were cruising through the town in an open car, Serbian nationalist Nedjelko Cabrinovic
threw a bomb at their vehicle. The bomb rolled off of the back their vehicle and injured a few officers and a
few civilian. The car sped off and quickly made it to a safe place. Later in the day, Duke Franz Ferdinand
went to visit the people injured. As they turned down the street not expecting anything, BANG, the royalty
had been shot. The assassination that occurred caused two world wars, eighty thousand deaths, the Rise of
Hitler. This may not have happened if Princip had not have been hungry for a sandwich. Gavrilo looks up

Following a steady decline since 2006, the Juvenile violent Crimes Index arrest rate reached a new historic
low point in 2014. However, crime rates in the 1980 s was comparatively lower than the recent years. The
arrest rate may have lowered, but this could mean that children are becoming more efficient criminals.
Which is why we need to reinforce the juvenile justice system. A quote from Hanna Chiou further fortifies
this statement. ...if our justice system uses mental incompetency as the reason juveniles have their own
separate and more lenient court, why aren t 40 year olds with the mind of a 10 year old prosecuted in the
juvenile justice system... (Chiou 130).Another quote from Chiou expresses the same fact: ...fully competent
and mature juveniles are fully capable of committing the same crime as a competent adult. (Chiou 141).
Why is it that in the eyes of society even children with high intelligence, who are fully competent, that have
malignant motives for committing these vehement crimes receive gentle treatment, or a mere pop or the
wrist? Why is it that age means automatic innocence? Children who commit these crimes have obviously

funds are essentially investment pools that are primarily owned by the governments versus a private

the Unites States, Asia, China, India, and Russia. These funds make up a large share and are growing portion
of the global economy. Furthermore, the size has had an impact international trade which has deemed this a
controversial investment. In the late 2000 s, the US encountered an unforgettable financial crisis which was

(Boyd, 2000) Another trend is the growing demand for scrap metal. In 1994 prices jumped from 50 170$ per
ton with 10 percent of scrap metal being exported to offshore customers according to metalprices.com. Now
currently scrap metal is near $300/ton. This makes it more expensive for steel companies like Nucor to buy
back the steel and recycle it.
Other notable trends involve European production as well as new Antidumping rulings.
Industry Key success factors
To be successful in the steel industry a company must be very innovative and able to differentiate their
products from the next guy. Steel is steel and it is not important as to how it is packaged or how it looks but
whether it serves the customer s needs. In order to be successful production must be efficient, delivery must
be on time, and innovation is the key.
Competition
Being a steel manufacturer there is a lot of competition that Nucor faces. U.S. Steel and Alcoa are two large

Dove and Manchester United
Merit One
Introduction
I have been asked to produce a clear set of notes to go with my presentation of Dove and Manchester United
fully comparing the effectiveness of the marketing concepts and principals.
First of all I am going to start comparing the similarities of the aims of the two businesses. This is that
Manchester United wants to become the best football club on and off the pitch. Dove has a similar aim
which is trying to grow its brand of the real beauty campaign for women. This will be effective for both
branding companies as they will become one of the top sellers when it comes to future high standards.

Manchester united, however, have to base their product pricing at a fixed rate with the competitors club/
business because fans will not be happy and will end up in an argument. The pricing depends on the
individual name and number on the back of the t shirt like for example Ronaldo number 7 would be at the
highest fixed rate as he is the best player for Manchester united. The prices vary from £46 57 after that.
Appropriate Dove s pricing is appropriate as it is used as a daily product so spending £2 15 for a product is
reasonable in this case.
Manchester united s pricing is also appropriate as they are popular to their fans especially and they have set
their aim of becoming the best football club on and off the pitch so this would lead to gaining more profit.
Product
Type Dove manufactures their products for beauty range of women. These are not just a limited type of
women; these are women of all shapes and sizes, ethnicity and age over 40. The beauty products of Dove are
required for every household as it is a leading brand product but it is also a product that helps allow women
to pamper themselves and look after their skin.

The Relationship Between Riverdale And Gilgamesh
Death and grief are common themes in literature and entertainment as a result of their presence throughout
history. These themes create a tie between the most ancient texts and modern pop culture. An example of
this is Gilgamesh and Riverdale. In the ancient Sumerian narrative, Gilgamesh by Herbert Mason,
Gilgamesh, a ruthless king deals with the death of his newfound friend, Enkidu. Before, Gilgamesh did not
care for his people. He forced brides to sleep with him, and did not take care of the great walls his subjects
took so long to make. On the other hand, Enkidu grew up in the forest with the animals, and learned to
protect and respect all beings. Both maintained their strength and friendship until Enkidu reached his
disastrous fate. In the modern TV show, Riverdale by Rob Seidenglanz, Cheryl Blossom grieves for her twin
brother, Jason. The two were inseparable from birth, and their entire town was aware. Similarly to
Gilgamesh, Cheryl was unsympathetic and disliked by her peers. Jason, like Enkidu, was more responsible
and compassionate. In both Gilgamesh and Riverdale, characters learn to cope with the loss of a meaningful
person in their life and ultimately experience change as a result.
The friendship between Gilgamesh and Enkidu, as well as the attachment between Cheryl Blossom and her
brother, Jason, is what makes their deaths so important. Gilgamesh and Enkidu s bond first influences their
actions on their journey together, Enkidu was afraid of the forest of

The Crossing Cormac Mccarthy Analysis
In the passage from Cormac McCarthy s novel, The Crossing, the narrator describes the main character s
burial of a wolf that was recently killed. It us unclear if he had killed the wolf or had found her dead, but the
experience has a profound effect on the character either way. McCarthy uses several literary techniques to
accurately convey the impact on the protagonist, including detailed diction that creates powerful visuals in
the mind of the reader. Along with this usage of imagery, the author includes religious and spiritual
references to emphasize the deep sadness and wonder felt by the main character during this passage. From
the very beginning of the passage, McCarthy s precise vocabulary expresses not only the visual experiences,
but also what he hears and feels in those moments. The narrator describes the scenery and the grassy swales
beneath tall escarpments . He also goes into another sense of the protagonist by telling us of the yapping of
the coyotes. We can feel the coldness as he shivers waiting for dawn, and the fire that he built dies down to a

express the somber mood and reflect the deep sadness the protagonist feels, as well as the wonder he feels at

  • 2. Behavior Of Fish In An Egyptian Tea Garden Robin Suazo Mrs. Inouye IB English HL 2, Period 5 01/22/18 Behavior of Fish in an Egyptian Tea Garden Keith Douglas Behavior of Fish in an Egyptian Tea Garden was written in 1968 and published in the Poetry of the Forties. The setting of the poem takes place in an egyptian tea garden as presumably stated in the title. In the poem, Keith Douglas strategically emphasizes a woman s ability to entice and seduce men with her beauty, as well as the same woman being objectified through the usage of structure, language and style. To begin, the first stanza introduces the woman and further establishes the setting. A simile is used to introduce a woman who is being admired by other men, As a white stone draws down the fish/ she on the seafloor of the afternoon/ draws down men s glances and their cruel wish/ for love (1). The woman is representing the white stone which draws the attention of the fish, who represent men. However, the white stone that represents the woman is ironic because the color white usually implies innocence and purity, which is the opposite of the woman represented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It also implies how women are objectified by men. The poem has 7 stanzas with 4 lines each, showing a sense of balancement within the poem and the speaker. However, even though the poem looks like it follows a rhyme scheme, it does not. The first four stanzas have a rhyme scheme differing from one another and the last three stanzas have no rhyme scheme at all. This could connect to the idea of relationships and the idea of appearance vs. reality. In other words, a relationship might not be what it looks like, and could question the idea of love in general. The use of structure, language and style was effectively used throughout the poem to emphasize the objectification of women and their ability to seduce men with their ... Enlightenment Guidance To Enlightenment The Guidance to Enlightenment In Siddhartha, by Hermann Hesse, the well respected son of a Brahmin, named Siddhartha, departs from his fortunate lifestyle to seek enlightenment with his childhood friend, Govinda. Along his path of enlightenment, Siddhartha s head becomes turned by the many pleasures and temptations the world offers. He continuously evolves, living many different lifestyles, such as that of a Samana, a wealthy man, and a Ferryman. Siddhartha shall overcome his desires and discover the secret that will ultimately lead him to his own enlightenment. Through the lessons and instructional techniques mentors may offer, Hermann Hesse illustrates Siddhartha s interpretation of their teachings and how he integrates these teachings into his path to enlightenment. Although he does not pay his allegiance to the Buddha and his doctrine, Siddhartha s encounter with the Illustrious One allows him to still take away a lesson of greater value. Siddhartha acquires an understanding of how the world allows all thing to correlate to one another, through the Buddha s teachings and his explanation about salvation from suffering. When Siddhartha and Govinda, who still seek a fitting path to enlightenment, gather together with pilgrims of Buddhism, they hear the Illustrious One talk about suffering, the origin of suffering, the way to release from suffering. Life was pain, the world was full of suffering, but the path to the release from suffering had been found. There was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay On The Middle Ages England in the Middle Ages The Middle Ages represents a periodization of European history which took place from the 5th century to the 15th century; this age was also know as Dark Ages because of the complexity of the period and lack of written documentation and archeological evidence. The Middle Ages was a time of tremendous historical, social and linguistic changes. Great Britain during the Middle Ages (from the 5th century withdraw of Roman forces from the province of Britannia and the Germanic invasions, until the Early modern period) was divided into a number of independent kingdoms; by the High Middle Ages, after the end of the Viking Age and the Normal Conquest, the kingdoms of England and Scotland came forth as the main poles of political power. The medieval period on England can be dated from the arrival in Kent of Anglo Saxon troops led by the legendary Hengest and Horsa. Think about the process it took the author to find the information, write, and get the material published? Is there any oversight (for example, an editor) before getting the material published? I believe all three of these had some type of editing involved but to different extents. Obviously the academic article would have gone through a peer review process in order to be published. The academic article would have taken much longer to complete than the other two. The magazine article would have taken some time to publish as it is a quarterly magazine (although if this article was only published online this might not be relevant), and it would have had a good amount of editing. There is an editor whose job is to help decide what gets published and what doesn t but this process most likely lets through more than the same process in the academic world does. The author had many sources and took his time writing covering the issue in a thorough manner. While some scholars have a more deterministic viewpoint and consider human personality as fairly predictable and stable over time (e.g. biogenetic determinism), other theorists view personality as fluid and highly malleable (e.g. behaviorism). The intermediate stance assumes a bidirectional relationship between heredity and environment, which allows for both consistency and change in personality. Allport used an idiographic approach that emphasized uniqueness of individuals, evaluating categories of values within a person, instead of across groups. This approach reduces researchers bias as the study is focused on investigation of traits presented in each individual, rather than a theorized central trait (Burger, 2010). Allport was influential in conceptualizing of personality, but his trait model is rather philosophical than scientific. Falsification of his hypothesis and organization of psychological data under his theory is difficult, and, consequently, measurement of personality stability or change is problematic. Contrary to Allport, personality analysis of Eysenck was nomothetic in nature, with strong emphases on biological foundations of traits. To construct and explain personality he used typical for the natural sciences approach that support generalization. Through statistical evaluation Eysenck established two main bipolar dimensions of personality, which he called supertraits extraversion/introversion (E) and neuroticism/stability (N). Later, he added another dimension, psychoticism/superego functioning (P), which maintained less defined. Abraham Lincoln ( Quotes , par. 4). Lincoln was able to lead the country successfully in a position of great power, even when there was pressure and hardship. President Lincoln is the best president because he was decisive, kindhearted, and trustworthy. Decisiveness is essential for a great leader because they must know what they want to do, and then they must confidently act on it. One example where Lincoln showed decisiveness is his decision to hold Fort Sumter, and later his decision to declare war. One day after President Lincoln took office, he received a message from Major Robert Anderson, commander of the troops at Fort Sumter. Lincoln was informed that the troops were running low on supplies, such as ammunition and food. Lincoln had to decide whether to order the troops to stay, or to give up the Fort to the Confederacy by leaving and coming back to the Union. He asked his cabinet for advice, and even though there were conflicting opinions, Lincoln did what he thought was best . Lincoln decided that he would continue to have the troops hold the fort. He would try to get supplies to them by sending an unarmed boats to Fort Sumter. The boats were unarmed so that if the Confederate troops attacked, they would look aggressive and violent. Archduke Franz and his wife Duchess Sophie were driving through Sarajevo and expected to arrive peacefully, but Gavrilo Princip had an assassination in mind for the family. The assassination of Duke Franz Ferdinand was the most significant assassination of the twentieth century. As they were cruising through the town in an open car, Serbian nationalist Nedjelko Cabrinovic threw a bomb at their vehicle. Which is why we need to reinforce the juvenile justice system. A quote from Hanna Chiou further fortifies this statement. ...if our justice system uses mental incompetency as the reason juveniles have their own separate and more lenient court, why aren t 40 year olds with the mind of a 10 year old prosecuted in the juvenile justice system... • 36. The Relationship Between Riverdale And Gilgamesh Death and grief are common themes in literature and entertainment as a result of their presence throughout history. These themes create a tie between the most ancient texts and modern pop culture. An example of this is Gilgamesh and Riverdale. In the ancient Sumerian narrative, Gilgamesh by Herbert Mason, Gilgamesh, a ruthless king deals with the death of his newfound friend, Enkidu. Before, Gilgamesh did not care for his people. He forced brides to sleep with him, and did not take care of the great walls his subjects took so long to make. On the other hand, Enkidu grew up in the forest with the animals, and learned to protect and respect all beings. Both maintained their strength and friendship until Enkidu reached his disastrous fate. In the modern TV show, Riverdale by Rob Seidenglanz, Cheryl Blossom grieves for her twin brother, Jason. The two were inseparable from birth, and their entire town was aware. Similarly to Gilgamesh, Cheryl was unsympathetic and disliked by her peers. Jason, like Enkidu, was more responsible and compassionate. In both Gilgamesh and Riverdale, characters learn to cope with the loss of a meaningful person in their life and ultimately experience change as a result. The friendship between Gilgamesh and Enkidu, as well as the attachment between Cheryl Blossom and her brother, Jason, is what makes their deaths so important. It us unclear if he had killed the wolf or had found her dead, but the experience has a profound effect on the character either way. McCarthy uses several literary techniques to accurately convey the impact on the protagonist, including detailed diction that creates powerful visuals in the mind of the reader. Along with this usage of imagery, the author includes religious and spiritual references to emphasize the deep sadness and wonder felt by the main character during this passage. From the very beginning of the passage, McCarthy s precise vocabulary expresses not only the visual experiences, but also what he hears and feels in those moments. The narrator describes the scenery and the grassy swales beneath tall escarpments . He also goes into another sense of the protagonist by telling us of the yapping of the coyotes.
