Gojira Symbolism
As the monster Gojira came lumbering over the buildings of Tokyo on the big screen in 1954, director
Ishiro Honda saw his dream of seeing a film focused on the devastation of nuclear weapons play out.
Although, his film could not clearly be about the devastation, his symbolism of the monster as the
atomic bomb was clear to all Japanese, even if it was not clear to foreigners viewing the film. The
film, Gojira, and its many reiterations over the years, is a result of the atomic attacks that took place
almost a decade previous, the following occupation and continued use of nuclear weapons by the
United States, the lingering anxieties had towards these nuclear weapons and the censorship that
encased Japan after the United States occupation. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both these events rocked the country and its citizens, leaving many with lingering anxieties over the
threat of atomic bombs. These anxieties were not helped by the United States continued use and
testing of these weapons in Japan. Just a couple years before the film was released, the United States
dropped their first H bomb on a small Japanese island. Additionally, in 1954 the United States dropped
another H bomb, that exposed a boat, Daigo Fukuryū Maru, and its crew to high amounts of radiation.
(Noriega 1987:65) This disaster is shown in the opening scene of Gojira, a scene that would be
recognizable to all Japanese watching the film. Honda, like many Japanese shared these anxieties over
the devastation of atomic weapons, but he recognized that he could not make a film explicitly about
these weapons. (also about the guilt of americans by showing tis scene.)This was due to the censorship
laws under the occupation. This censorship did not allow media to criticize the United States,
(Rosenfeld 2002:86) and if Honda had explicitly made a film of the aftermath of the United States
attack on Japan, it would be a criticism. There was no outlet for these concerns because this, which
lingered even after they left the country, hence why Honda posed the atomic threat as a monster in his

Summary Of Early Childhood Observation
The child s engagement in imaginative or fantasy play is typically of a preschooler s functioning level.
Preschoolers delight in fantasy and play and engage their newly found cognitive abilities to extend
their world of make believe (Timberlake Culter, 2005). He appeared to delight in fantasy play with his
action figure and was able to create sound effects to further expand upon the fantasy, suggesting his
age and development is consistent with the expectations of a preschooler. According to the Center for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) social and emotional developmental milestones for a four year
old child, the child under observation appears to be meeting established benchmarks as observed by
the child s enjoyment in participating in activities, creativity with make believe play, preference to
engage with another child rather than by himself, and cooperation with another children (Important

The child s respective communication skills appear to be developing; he points to his knee when asked
what hurts him and he hands his mother his snack item when he struggles to open the item. However,
his expressive communication skills are not known. During observation, he vocalizes sounds and

with her and a family friend the communication between all parties inaudible. The child s movement
and physical development appear to be meeting benchmarks for a preschooler. Preschoolers enjoy
their own bodies and move about others (Timberlake Culter, 2005). As evidence by the child s

It was carried out by the 18th Amendment, which stated that alcohol was illegal. It was passed because
the military didn t want the soldiers to drink while on duty or off duty. It made many reformers happy.
22. Treaty of Versailles (June 28, 1919)
It was written in Versailles and ended WWI. It pushed all of the blame onto Germany and made them
repay the allies that were damaged by the war and limited their military. This was the main cause that
started the tensions that started WWII.

These were the Congressmen that opposed Treaty of Versailles and the League of Nations. They had
twelve reservations. Henry Cabot Lodge led the committee.

This article focuses mainly on how the National Federation of Independent Business vs Sebelius case

was mostly impacted by consideration of its healthcare impact or constitutional law, as conceived by
different parties. Healthcare law considers issues of coverage, accessibility, cost, accountability, and

Informative Essay On Autism
I have decided to do a presentation on the diagnoses and prognoses of a broad disorder. This is Autism
Spectrum Disorder and the many levels that are alone in this disorder. The basics of which range from
those that are non verbal, low social and progress up to the high intelligence and low social variant.
Classic autism is what most people see as the only form and those visual clues include: nonverbal
communication, increased focus and concentration of the individual on a particular object, repetitive
movements, such as hand flapping or rocking, even self harm is an identifying characteristic of classic
autism.
(Wikipedia/Autism, n.d.)
As early as 18 months to 3 years of age is when most children are diagnosed in one form or another
under the Spectrum. Parents generally see the evidence of the child showing tendencies towards the
Spectrum and therefore will reach for an assessment and eventually a diagnosis. A lot of the indicators
towards testing and diagnosis is the child not hitting normal milestones that a neurotypical peer would
reach at the same point. Generally, it is more delayed indicating a possible problem. Currently there is
not a medical test that is used to reach a diagnosis. In the
diagnostic process they use a multidisciplinary approach. The approach to diagnose includes
pediatricians, psychologist, speech and language pathologist, and an occupational therapist. Should
there be other medical issues that arise such as sleep disorders it is possible that

Information is, in fact, our most precious resource. In such a world, education should empower
everyone, not the few. But for information to become knowledge, and ultimately, one hopes, wisdom,
it must be organized. In this new climate, the public interest challenge, beyond access and equity is
sorting and selection (Boyer, 1997, p. 140). We are outfitting our schools, libraries, and homes with
electronic technologies. But are we preparing students for the onslaught of information that is
provided by these technologies. What happens when students get more information from the internet
and than previously conveyed by their teachers or textbooks? What should a student do when faced
with so many informational possibilities? This is where information literacy establishes it s important
thus, they need to understand and differentiate between types of information. They must define the
need of the information and relating it to knowledge. These are all the implementation of information

How the Trickle-Down Theory Works in China Essay
How the trickle down theory works in China
The Trickle down theory, a well known theory in fashion industry, has significant meaning in 19th to
20th century Europe. The American economist and sociologist, Veblen, published The theory of the
Leisure Class by 1899, in which he discussed the split between the leisure class and the industrial
class in the US critically. He concluded that leisure class treats dress as a sign of their status and
possessions, furthermore, Dress must not only be conspicuously expensive and inconvenient; it must
at the same time be up to date (Veblen 1994), by saying that, he refers to upper class was tend to create

However people have little idea about how fashion trends flow in both ancient and contemporary
Chinese society, which is an essential issue no matter when people want to explore Chinese fashion
history, or promote brands and run their business in China in the future. Actually, in the Han dynasty
(206BC 220AD), the trickle down theory worked in the Chinese Royal Palace. At that time, it is said
that all the maid in waitings in imperial palaces stimulated the Empress Xiaocheng, Feiyan Zhao
(32BC 1BC), wearing fairy retaining skirts (Barbara 2000). And according to Lang huan ji which was
a classic novel written by Shizhen Yi, a scholar in the Yuan dynasty (1206 1368), in the Tang dynasty
(618AD 907AD), young girls loved to manipulate imperial Concubine s and Princess s makeup and
hair styles, which indicated that fashion flows from the upper class, such as royal family, to general
people. But inevitably, the study had its own limitation, sometimes, things in China influenced by
several specific factors, such as traditional Asian culture and social classes, in addition to that, the
situation of contemporary China is more complicated which was because of ideology, social structures
and fashion industry of China are so different from European countries. This essay will discuss that
how the trickle down theory works in China, what hinders the theory s utilization and what situation
these sociological and cultural factors cause.

Humor, An Extensive Language Of Amusement Through Humor
Imagine a vast concert hall filled with people. The audience excitedly clamor in anticipation for the
main star of this event. The event they paid so much money for, cleared up time in their schedule for,
spent time getting to the event for. As the lights dim, the spotlight shines on the center stage. Then an
average person emerges on the stage with a thousand eyes on him. He only has with a microphone in
his hand. Just a typical person, with a normal gait and normal sense of fashion. However, after
speaking a few words in the microphone, the crowd bursts into a cacophony of laughter. No matter
how ordinary or extraordinary the person, entertainment through humor is universal. Utilizing humor,
an extensive language of amusement, to open perspectives and challenge what is conceived right or
wrong can be impactful if done correctly. Dave Sedaris accomplishes that goal when he uses humor to
illustrate his dilemma because of his identity. Despite being an accomplished successful comedian,
author, radio show host, certain people look down at him as just a homosexual freak. Rather than
gravely addressing his opposition, Sedaris utilizes a jovial yet relatable anecdote called Chicken in a
Henhouse . Incorporating ideas from Ardian Bardon s The Philosophy of Humor , specifically, the
three theories of humor: superiority theory, incongruity theory and relief theory, Sedaris argues that
the American public stereotypes homosexuals as pedophiles and ,as a result, they feel

Signs of Stress in the Police Profession
What issues can be a sign of stress in the police profession and what could be done to help prevent it?
All aspects of any job can be stressful. There are several different factors that can cause stress. The
cause of stress in the police profession is characterized by job related stress and fatigue. According to
Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary (2013), stress in general is a physical, chemical, or emotional
factor that causes bodily or mental tension and may be a factor in disease causation (Full definition of
stress, 1c.). Job stress may involve the type of work your do, your boss, or co workers or your hours
you work. When it comes to job stress, it can take a toll on your productivity, as well as your physical
and emotional health. Job related stress is one of the most common causes of heart disease in the
workplace. However, in my current career as a Deputy Sheriff, I have more stress from work related
issues then the stress that comes from everyday life. Besides the job related stress issues and concerns,
my job is very rewarding to me. I have the opportunity to help people and give them a sense of
security. However, there are times where the workplace is not so rewarding because we are over
worked and under paid. Also the constant changes to the workplace policies and procedures are
designed to benefit the employer instead of the employee is major cause in job stress. These types of
stressful situations may affect police personnel on every level.

Long Term Species Is The Main Goal Of Conservation Biology
1.1 Conservation genetics
Long term species persistence is the main goal of conservation biology, and this has been associated
with maintenance of species evolutionary potential (Hamrick et al. 1991), which in turn, is not
unconnected with higher levels of genetic variation in the focal species (Frankel and Soule 1981).
Therefore, the field of conservation genetics, defined as the application of molecular genetic
techniques to the conservation of biodiversity (Frankham 2010), was introduced for accurate
understanding of genetic diversity in a focal taxa, and how this can be maintained or amplified, in
order to ensure species persistence, even in a changing environment.
Population genetic theory (Wright 1969) suggests that small isolated populations will undergo genetic
drift, inbreeding and reduced gene flow, resulting in loss of intra population genetic variation,
increased genetic differentiation among populations, inbreeding depression and loss of fitness (Barrett
and Kohn 1991), leading to extirpation (Reed and Frankham 2003). This is also corroborated from
ecological theory that predicted that small populations with small geographical range and poor
dispersal capacity have higher extinction risk (Belovsky et al. 1999). Consequently, population size is
one of the most important criteria in IUCN criteria for red listing of threatened species (Mace et al.
2008).
Previous studies support the prediction of population genetic theory that rare plant species will exhibit

Shipping Patented By E Commerce Giant
Anticipatory shipping is a method of shipping patented by e commerce giant Amazon in December
2013. During the normal shipping process, an e commerce retailer or goods manufacturer receives a
customer order specifying the exact address where the product is to be delivered. The company then
prepares the package and hands it over to a shipping service provider such as FedEx for delivery. The
delay of multiple days between order placement and actual delivery is a major impediment to the wide
acceptance of e commerce. It forces e commerce companies to offer incentives like cash on delivery to
their customers. Anticipatory shipping is aimed at cutting the delivery time and improving the
experience for e commerce users. With this technique, a company will ship products even before an
order is placed by a customer. It would specify only a partial address indicating destination
geographical area for delivery. While the packages are in transit, the company will employ advanced
analytics and forecasting techniques to predict which customers would want to buy the shipped
products. Then it could use targeted marketing and sales promotions to induce such customers to buy
the products. If a customer indeed places an order, the company would provide exact delivery address
to the shipping service provider and the products could be delivered much quicker, even on the same
day.

Angry Black White Boy
In Adam Mansbach s Angry Black White Boy (ABWB), the protagonist, Macon Detornay, is a white
male who is obsessed with black culture and angry with white Americans. Macon moved to New York
City for college and began a crime spree of robbing white people who rode in his taxicab. The city of
New York went on a search for the black man who was supposedly robbing these people. Eventually,
Macon s true skin color is revealed and he decides to use his newfound fame to discuss the evils of
white people. Macon then founded the Race Traitor Project. This idea was for guilty white people and
liberals to be a part of what he called a Day of Apology, in which white people were to apologize for
the hundreds of years of oppression they put minorities through. The Day of Apology ended up
causing a major riot, which led Macon to decide how committed he was to the Race Traitor Project.
Adam Mansbach used ABWB as a means to shed light on institutional racism and what can be done to
end it.
Institutional racism is a concept that many people hear about today, but no one wants to really discuss.
Avram Bornstein s Institutional Racism argues that there needs to be a distinction between the racial
bias and institutional racism due to the recent law enforcement encounters in New York. According to
Bernstein, police motivation is not necessarily biased by numbers, but careerist through stopping and

calculation above, shareholders of Western Areas received a capital loss of 32.29% for the 2015
financial year. Looking into the annual dividends, an interim dividend of 3c per share was paid on

The All Ordinaries Index (All Ords) is utilised as an alternative for the market as it accounts for the
top 500 companies in the ASX by way of market capitalisation that makes up for 98% of the ASX s
worth. The All Ords closed on the first day of the 2015 financial year (01/07/14) at 5366.50 and closed
on the last day of the financial year (30/06/15) at 5451.20, thus the market return for the All
Ordinaries Index is as follows for FY15: Market Return=(Final Index Value Initial Index
Value)/(Initial Index Value)*100 =(5451.20 5366.50)/5366.50*100=1.58% Broadly comparing
Western Areas total annual return of 30.19% to the annual market return of 1.58% there is quite
clearly a stark difference. However as Western Areas return directly hinges upon the Nickel price,
which has dropped 37.8% in spot price over the past year, these raw return figures must be adjusted
for risk. The All Ords representing the market has a beta of 1; so to have an accurate comparison the
beta for Western Areas must be calculated. Weekly adjusted close data for the Western Area stock

Tornado Forecasts
Currently, the development of spotter networks and conversion radar are use for identification of
tornadoes (Coleman et al. 2011). In developed countries, the use of weather radars have become the
primary method for the identification of tornadoes. The Doppler weather radar is used in the United
States, this system takes measurements of velocity and the radial direction of the storm (Coleman et
al. 2011). New technology development has lead to forecasts of tornadoes before they have made
contact with the ground.
Currently the average tornado warning lead time is 13 minutes (Brotzge Erickson, 2009). Tornado
forecasts are still unreliable, most warnings are not broadcasted when the tornado is forming or has

In 2008, 3 out of every 4 tornado warnings that were issued were false alarms (Brotzge et al. 2011).
False alarm ratios are highest during non peak storm periods and lowest during storm times and days.
In a 24 hour period they are highest overnight and morning hours and lowest in the late afternoon
(Brotzge et al. 2011). Seasonally they are highest December February and late summer, August and
lowest all the other months (Brotzge et al. 2011). Tornado information has increased since the amount
of research has been recorded and analyzed. However, there is more improvements that are needed to
fully predict tornadoes that could have the potential to destroy large areas.
Conclusion:
Although meteorologist hardly acknowledge that their forecasts are not completely accurate, it is clear
that without them the amount of harm would be great. The information of a possible tornado
formation helps the public become prepared to the possibility of a tornado. Tornadoes warning
systems have come a long way from the days where they were inaccurate and unreliable. Lead times
have increased and are becoming more reliable. However, more sensitive technology is needed until
forecasts can become more

The Pursuit Of Weapon Of Mass Destruction
Terrorism poses a serious threat to the security of every nation; a worldwide problem that doesn t
recognize borders, nationality, or religion. These Non State Actors (NSA s), entities engaging in
international operations without the authority of an established nation are always looking for a better
way to further their agenda. One of these ways is through the pursuit of Weapons of Mass Destruction

their radioactive signature, and the technology is rare making it difficult to acquire a feasible nuclear

Personal schedule considerations Pursuing higher learning degrees, whether online or on campus, is a
significant undertaking that requires lots of time commitment. It is therefore critical that you consider
how the online degree program will affect your current schedule and whether you can manage. You
should find a program that won t interfere with your current work schedule but still provides adequate
time for you to focus on your education. You can either select a blended program that blends
classroom instructions with online sessions or you can pursue a completely open online course
Financial aid Online courses are relatively cheaper that on campus programs. Regardless, some of
them can be quite expensive and so financial aid packages provide a welcome reprieve. The amount of

Swot Analysis Of Brown s Investments And Portfolio...
Strengths related to Brown s Investments and Portfolio Management Our team has carefully reviewed
your portfolio and have identified areas of strength and areas that need improvement. The term
portfolio includes all your investment accounts except the 529 Plan which we analyzed separately.
One strength in regards to your portfolio is that it has outperformed the market over the last ten years.
This means that on average your returns were greater than the returns of the market. Outperforming
the market is not guaranteed each year, but when it does occur, you are generating higher returns and
increasing your likelihood of meeting your financial goals. Areas of Improvement Though you have
several strengths related to your portfolio, our team did find a few areas that could be improved. Our
primary issue with your current portfolio is your high equity allocation; this means that a majority of
your portfolio is held in stocks. When a majority of your portfolio is held in stocks, you are not
diversifying throughout all asset options available to you and are opening yourself up to a higher level
of risk. By diversifying throughout different types of assets, cash, bonds, stocks, etc., you minimize
your risk and are more likely to reach your goals. The next area of improvement we would like to
discuss is the lack of variety in the quality and maturity in your bold holdings. Diversification doesn t
apply to just the asset classes, it also applies to the assets within the

Sociological Explanations For The Divorce Phenomenon
A major change that has occurred in the Western family is an increased incidence in divorce. Whereas
in the past, divorce was a relatively rare occurrence, in recent times it has become quite commonplace.
This change is borne out clearly in census figures. For example thirty years ago in Australia, only one
marriage in ten ended in divorce; nowadays the figure is more than one in three (Australian Bureau of
Statistics, 1996: p.45). A consequence of this change has been a substantial increase in the number of
single parent families and the attendant problems that this brings (Kilmartin, 1997).
An important issue for sociologists, and indeed for all of society, is why these changes in marital
patterns have occurred. In this essay I will seek to critically examine a number of sociological
explanations for the divorce phenomenon and also consider the social policy implications that each
explanation carries with it. It will be argued that the best explanations are to be found within a broad
socio economic framework.
One type of explanation for rising divorce has focused on changes in laws relating to marriage. For
example, Bilton, Bonnett and Jones (1987) argue that increased rates of divorce do not necessarily
indicate that families are now more unstable. It is possible, they claim, that there has always been a
degree of marital instability. They suggest that changes in the law have been significant, because they
have provided unhappily married couples with access to a

The Pardoner And Summoner In The Canterbury Tales
The Relationship Between the Pardoner and Summoner
In The Canterbury Tales, written by Geoffrey Chaucer, characters from medieval times are portrayed.
Two important characters discussed are the Pardoner and the Summoner. The Pardoner is a young man
who sells church pardons to those who have done wrong. The Summoner is responsible for issuing
summons which order people to appear in court. Due to the author s view of the church, the Pardoner
and Summoner s physical description, and the two men s actions, it is clear that the Pardoner and
Summoner are in a homosexual relationship.
The author of The Canterbury Tales expresses his views of the church through the characters he
chooses to portray. N.S. Thompson writes about the Pardoner and says, The Pardoner, who sells
indulgences for money on his own behalf (Chaucer, Geoffrey 54). The Pardoner lacks respect for the
people who come to him for indulgences. He is concerned about his own wealth instead of helping
others receive forgiveness. Thompson then describes the Summoner as, A man who knows all the
secrets of his parish and is in a position to take bribes and other gifts (Thompson, The Canterbury
Tales 45). The Summoner is only interested in receiving money and gifts from ... Show more content

The Emergence and Africanization of Catholic Christianity in the Kongo
When the nation of Kongo converted to Christianity around the turn of the 16th century, the
Catholicism that developed over the next century is best understood as primarily a superficial layer
added onto Kongolese traditional religion. The kings of Kongo did not try to replace previous beliefs
and practices with Christianity, nor did they simply mask their traditional religion, but rather they
incorporated Christian doctrines, rituals, and some aspects of Portuguese Christian culture such as
literacy and medicine, into the framework of the traditional Kongolese lifestyle. Three ways by which

Afonso s faith cannot be reprimanded based on his complaining about Portuguese abuses in the slave
trade, or rejecting the Portuguese suggestion to amend the traditional system of taxation and
distribution of government grants, or asking Rome to allow dispensations for polygamy, the ordination
of natives, and the creation of a separate Diocese. The conclusion we may draw from these acts is not
that Afonso was a bad Christian, but that he intended for the introduction of Christianity to strengthen
his sovereignty rather than weaken it. In this way, he is like European monarchs, but the Christianity
he adopts and promotes in his nations is not European Christianity. It seems more likely that, as
Baladier has argued, Christianity was adopted fundamentally as a source of ngolo, or power, which
placed it in a political context ...Christianity was conceived as a supplementary method of
reinforcement, not as a religion exclusive of the old beliefs.
That Afonso s Christian faith was inclusive of tradition religion, and that it was subordinate to, and
often used to further, his political ambitions, does not necessitate that it was insincere. Nor does the
sincerity of Afonso s faith determine the extent to which

Harrington And Keenan s Reflection On Humility In The...
Reading Harrington and Keenan this week has been quite enriching. Their approach from the
perspective of New Testament studies and Catholic Moral Theology to ethics in inspiring. With regard
to the above question, I am fascinated by Keenan s reflection on humility in the context the context of
natural environment: To be humble is to know one s power in the universe and to respect one s own
place in that universe and the place of others...Humility warns us against the attitude of dominion, but
also keeps us from being detached from the world. It prompts us to see our profound dependence on
the world in which we are made (Harrington and Keenan, p. 192).
Cultivating the virtue of humility as we deal with our ecological crisis helps us appreciate that any
ecological ethic which takes into account both God and humanity and does not reduce both to some
extension of undifferentiated nature must begin with a rejection of the unbridled sovereignty of
humanity over the earth. In this rejection is the recognition that all work upon the earth must be
informed by a clear understanding of and respect for the earth as an autonomous and valuable entity
and the laws of nature on which the bounty of the earth depends.
Humility is knowing one s place. As a virtue, it goes against extremes. This means that, although, in
the exercise of dominion over the earth, humanity was given the right to take from the bounty of the
earth whatever it needs for subsistence (Genesis 1:29), this dominion

Analysis Of The Episode Chirp
Looking back at the episode, it seemed clear to me that the three families that were presented in the
Modern Family episode Chirp, had dilemmas. Each family had to face their own conflicts, which in
different ways gets resolved in the end. These family problems in this episode includes couples not
listening to each other, son not getting attention, and even the husband who struggles to show his
manly side. Although the episode talks about all three families, they mainly had their own story line.
These conflicts start with one member of the family; in this episode it is the man. In the beginning of
the episode, the Dunphy Family had trouble with the smoke detectors. Phil Dunphy, who is the man of
the family, struggles to tackle which detector is making the low battery sound. With little success, he
feels like he isn t capable of even a simple task that s generally completed by men. He feels like he is
losing his masculinity every time the smoke detectors chirp, which is literally driving him nuts. Later,
the gay couple, Mitchell and Cameron lightly argue whether to take their adopted daughter to act in a
commercial. Mitchell, which happens to make the income to provide for the family, denies Cameron s
request. Cameron complains that he makes all the decisions because he makes the income, and gets
more say for the family. To prove that he is not going to let that stop him, he takes their daughter to
act, despite what Mitchell had against it. Lastly the

Paul s Case is a short story by Willa Cather that was written in 1905. Paul is boy in high school that
has many behavior problems. He strives for attention so badly that he feels that he needs to show out
in order to receive the recognition that he wants, especially from his father. Willa Cather uses
symbolism in her short story to develop the tragic demise of Paul. The symbolism used in the first
paragraph is repeated throughout the story. The red carnation that Paul has placed in the buttonhole
symbolizes his unreal desire to become recognized. The carnation is very flamboyant and is not

On one side of the glass is the harsh reality that is Paul s life, while on the other side is the fantasy that
Paul pictures himself fitting into.
The flowers in the story symbolize Paul s place in the dream. He sees himself as the final piece his
perfect life. When Paul comes arrives in the city, he spots that there are not any flowers in his room
and orders for someone to retrieve some. Paul places them in water, and then gets into a bath himself.
When he was shown to his sitting room on the eighth floor, he saw at a glance that was as it should be;
there was but one detail in his mental picture that the place did not realize, so he rang for the bell boy
and sent him down for flowers... When the flowers came, he put them hastily into water, and then
tumbled into a hot bath (544 545). Paul feels like the flowers are needed to complete the mental image
he has of his perfect life. In the room, there were no flowers, showing that Paul was not in the dream.
His getting the flowers, symbolizes that he had finally placed himself in the dream.
Towards the end of the story, Paul takes a walk in the park where he sees flowers blooming in a glass
case. This symbolizes that it is not possible for Paul s dream to be actuality , or at least under his
circumstances. Here and there on the corners were stands, with whole flower gardens booming under
glass cases, against the sides of which the snow flakes stuck and melted; violets, roses,

Gun Free Zone Case Study
Are gun free zones worth having in American schools? Through the recent struggles in policy related
to mass school shootings in gun free zones, I believe that we should evaluate current policies and if
need be, propose new policies, to limit or eliminate mass shootings in schools, which can and should
be prevented. A common misconception when talking about gun free zones is that Gun free zones can
easily be misunderstood as meaning zero guns, but rather (usually) means that an unauthorized person
cannot carry in that area (which may vary from state to state). But the issue isn t with the
misconception, but more so with the lack of safety that schools have or so we think.

I believe that there are too many factors that play into these scenarios. To say that it is guns that need
to be fixed, is not considered a proper argument. To consider this a gun cause argument, you would
have to establish that it is guns that were and are the primary cause. Are guns a big issue, yes, but
more importantly, we have to establish what the main issue is. The first part to fixing something and
finding the solution, is identifying the problem.. People aren t limited like guns..guns can only shoot
their caliber, shoot so far and can only be shot by the person controlling the weapon or system
controlling the weapon. With saying that, people will find original and genius plans to create weapons
to mass murder people...E.g. Boston marathon explosion...the perpetrator used a pressure cooker....a
pressure cooker...and there was still mass destruction, so what I m arguing is that there may be more
than one argument against gun free zones. Let s look at past scenarios to get an idea of what is going
on besides guns. As stated in the New Yorker: School shootings mostly involve young white men.
And, not surprisingly, given the ready availability of firearms in the United States, the phenomenon is
overwhelmingly American. But, beyond those facts, the great puzzle is how little school shooters fit

Dormant Commerce Clause Essay
Can you briefly explain what the dormant commerce clause is?
The negative commerce clause, also known as the dormant commerce clause is a doctrine established
by the U.S. Supreme Court, limiting individual states of the United States from passing legislation that
inappropriately discriminates against interstate commerce. The dormant commerce clause limits the
power of individual states to legislate on such matters and is not an express clause in the U.S.
Constitution (AMAR, K. 2007).
Why would dormant commerce clause apply to business?
The Dormant Commerce Clause is the belief that local and state laws are undemocratic if the state
places an unwarranted encumbrance on local commerce, moreover, even if Congress has not acted on
behalf of its commerce power it lies dormant (Chemerinsky, E., n.d.). An example would be, in the

Christian Faith And The Cross
The cross has over the years in the Christian faith been perceived as the major symbol of faith. This is
manifested by how it is often strewn in churches, people s clothing like t shirts, designed as necklaces,
and even for some, it is placed as tattoos on their bodies. This means that the cross, which was initially
associated with the death of Christ, has today become an image and reminder of hope. That the cross
is the focal image for Christians in the church today is no doubt and it is this perception that has
stimulated debate over the years. For most Christians, the cross is the essential image that brings trust
for the forgiveness of sins and the likelihood of new life. Christ s death on the cross implies that
Christians sins have been managed and that God s ability to pardon sin is prospective. Most people
have drawn such solace from the image of the cross that they will think of it as a source of violence.
Others, on the contrary have raised concerns that the cross has contributed to promoting violence all
through the historical backdrop of the Christian congregation. From Constantine s vision of the cross
during the fourth century, to the campaigns in the Middle Ages, Christians have considered the cross
as a reason for the utilization of military force, mistreatment, and different types of violence. Most
people are expressing their concerns on whether the cross is an intrinsically violent and burdensome
image, responsible for the misuse and violence not just

Nathaniel Bacon took charge. When he led his men into town to form an assembly, it would be the
first assembly in fifteen years. After the long struggle and hard fought battle these freemen received
their gift. They were finally able to appeal a law that denied their right to vote. They were now
considered legal voters. Another important aspect of democracy is social equality. During the
17th century in Virginia, people were either wealthy or poor. The proprietors held the wealth, while
the plantation workers in Virginia were poor. In addition the farmers had no rights. The freemen had to
be taxed and there was nothing they could do about it. It did not hurt the rich to be taxed because they
could afford it. When the lower class

Haida Gwaii Research Paper
Haida: One of Many Endangered Languages of Alaska
It is tragedy that a language full of rich history and culture could be left with less than one hundred
native speakers worldwide. The language of Haida from the Haida tribe in southeast Alaska has been
through the Russian and American takeover of Alaska, as well as education and religion changes.
Today the language is critically endangered and the community is heartbroken about the decline of
language usage. The future of Haida holds revival programs in hope of the language returning.
The Haida tribe is originally from the Queen Charlotte Islands of British Columbia. Today, the name
of the island chains is known as Haida Gwaii. The archipelago is situated off the Northwest Coast of

Di Leo s Essay In Praise Of Tough Criticism
Criticism can come in many forms and Di Leo argues in his article, In Praise of Tough Criticism, that
tough criticism is superior, and should be preferred to the alternatives. His thesis statement can be
summed up as this: While most professors in the academic community find harsh criticism distasteful,
compassion doesn t do the authors justice in rewarding truly superior work, and if criticism isn t
critical there shouldn t be any criticism at all. This thesis gives an overall preview into what the article
is about but it doesn t capture his main points or add any illumination for the reader. If I were to
restructure his thesis it would could be summed up as: While most scholars view harsh criticism as a
form of jealousy and envy towards the authors, the alternatives to harsh criticism are far worse, and
we should desire to receive honest, direct opinions from critics. This would enable us to separate truly
superior work from mediocrity, while simultaneously raising the quality of writing throughout the
world. I find that this type of thesis really would capture Di Leo s main arguments, as well as add
illumination for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tactics such as faint praise and anonymity are used so advocates against harsh criticism can avoid
praising mediocrity, while not giving in to the temptation of harsh criticism. He says that scholars
would prefer these methods because it allows them to be critical without the consequences of being
seen as jealous or envious. Along with this, he believes that anonymous harsh reviews done by
advocates against harsh criticism is hypocritical and that is just a form of cowardice. The fact that my
thesis would mention the alternatives would improve Di Leo s thesis because it is capturing his
argument in a more precise way that critics fearful of being seen as jealous or envious by critiquing
harshly should consider that the alternatives are far

Observation Of Daya
During this past week, I was enjoying some relaxation time from my busy and hectic schedule and
watching some Netflix. I was watching an episode of Orange Is The New Black, form Season 1. The
overall summary of the episode that I was watching was that there was an inmate, Daya, who was
pregnant from one of the prison guards who also happens to be her boyfriend. In a panic of trying to
protect the boyfriend/prison guard from being fired once it is figured out that Daya is pregnant,
multiple inmates work together in coming up with a plan trying to help out Daya. The helpers include
Daya s family members, people from the same race, and a couple random women from a different
clique. It was a little odd that all these inmates were working together trying to help out Daya in such
an involved and difficult situation. All of these women who are usually at each other s throats are now
working together trying to come up with solutions. In addition to this, the solution that the group
decided on, was given by one the women from the outside clique, which was odd. However, we later
learn that the reason why she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ones that helped Daya out the most were her family members, which were her mother and sister.
This shows that the Genetic Relatives Study is very much true, showing that even in a high risk
situation, Daya s mother and sister were still willing to help. However, one of the main reasons why
Daya s mother was helping out was because she wanted to make sure her grandchild was going to be
okay, a demonstration of Kin Selection . The women that were from the same race, shows that we tend
to help people that look like us. Then the other random women, who were also helping out Daya, were
clearly doing so for their own benefit and personal gain. They were not demonstrating any sort of
altruism, however more of an egoistic style of

Benefit Of Extracurricular Activities
Extracurricular Activities: The True Benefits Despite the belief in extracurricular activities harming
students, they can actually be beneficial. Extracurricular activities benefit students by helping them
learn how to manage their time more efficiently and improve academics. There are social benefits,
benefits outside of school, and benefits after school. They help develop students and make them
became what they will be in the future. Extracurricular activities most definitely benefit the students
and even the school. Extracurricular activities can help students by helping them learn how to manage
their time more efficiently and improve academics. Students learn how to balance their activities and
school work appropriately, this helps the student get their homework done on time and limit
procrastination (Jackson). With less time to do homework, students work more efficiently, this limits
those late night homework sessions, because students will make sure their work is done. When
participating in an extracurricular activity, students might find that they have less time to work, so to
compensate they plan out when they will complete their homework, showing responsibility, and time
management ( Why Extracurricular ). Responsibility and good time management are beneficial
because it shows that students know how to manage their time to complete things before they are due.
According to Nicole Jackson:
Studies have shown that students who participate in co curricular

Meaning Of Plato s Examined Life
Living an examined life means to constantly question our values and beliefs in order to be able to
ideally defend our ideas about how to live our lives. This questioning allows us to have an open mind
to new information that could change the way we look at and live our lives. Practicing living an
examined life comes with various obstacles. We may experience people surrounding us, for example
our neighbors, family members, turn against us, treat us and our ideas as threatening to the society.
Although we may have to face these difficulties, through questioning what we already know, we will
be able to acquire much more information, as well as build new ideas about those beliefs, which will
make us more knowledgeable. Through his Allegory of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An intelligent person who is filled with knowledge may have the correct answers to questions being
asked, rather than a person who possesses the right opinion . In the dialogue Meno, Plato explains the
difference, Socrates, is only that he who has knowledge will always be right; but he who has right
opinion will sometimes be right, sometimes not. (Meno np). The one who has the right opinion may
be answering a question with a guess, rather than make use of a truthful information because such one
does not possess the needed knowledge. Sometimes the response to a question through right opinion,
if the individual is lucky, may be correct; however, it is not always the case. A person with knowledge,
on the other hand, is able to proof his or her answer with facts and true information, which will
explain why he or she must be right. Possession of knowledge makes one a better person because one
can give true information, direction to those who seek it rather than guess and possibly give false
information to the

Swot Analysis Of Cadbury
Different Markets
Cadbury is the leading player in confectionery, with its Dairy Milk brand, as mentioned before,
accounting for over 13% of total confectionery value at the end of the review period overall. This
however wouldn t be possible without the company being highly visible in the mass media channels
with its tagline of kuch meetha ho jaye (let s have something sweet), consumer promotions and
flavorful malt based hot drinks brand Bournvita. Being the key innovator in packaged food in India,
Cadbury strives to maintain its top spot in confectionery in India and effectively expanded its presence
in confectionery in 2007, launching Bubbaloo its first gum product in India. Notably, Cadbury s
product portfolio outside confectionery ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cadbury has unfortunately seen lack of penetration in the rural market where people tend to dismiss it
as a high end product, as the prices do range between standard and premium, never any less. The
reason for high prices is due some of the cocoa, a major ingredient, having to be imported, resulting in
several charges and a higher inventory. The company must also find solutions to natural conditions,
for example, heat. The majority of the markets in India are not air conditioned, hence cannot store
chocolates, at least during hot summers, which limits market access.
Industrial Production
Cadbury, beside many other companies, supply the local market through its local production units.
Cadbury India manages to practice this through five factories, located in Thane, Pune, Induri and
Malanpur in West India, and Baddi in North India. Cocoa, being a major raw material as discussed, is
not only imported but also procured mainly from local plantations in South India, in the states of
Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The company, after manufacturing many of its
mouthwatering products exports them in bulk to Sri Lanka, Dubai, the US and the Maldives. The
positive outcome of this is that Cadbury India does not have to be involved in third party
manufacturing.
Confusion
The brand is well known to many around the

  • 2. Gojira Symbolism As the monster Gojira came lumbering over the buildings of Tokyo on the big screen in 1954, director Ishiro Honda saw his dream of seeing a film focused on the devastation of nuclear weapons play out. Although, his film could not clearly be about the devastation, his symbolism of the monster as the atomic bomb was clear to all Japanese, even if it was not clear to foreigners viewing the film. The film, Gojira, and its many reiterations over the years, is a result of the atomic attacks that took place almost a decade previous, the following occupation and continued use of nuclear weapons by the United States, the lingering anxieties had towards these nuclear weapons and the censorship that encased Japan after the United States occupation. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both these events rocked the country and its citizens, leaving many with lingering anxieties over the threat of atomic bombs. These anxieties were not helped by the United States continued use and testing of these weapons in Japan. Just a couple years before the film was released, the United States dropped their first H bomb on a small Japanese island. Additionally, in 1954 the United States dropped another H bomb, that exposed a boat, Daigo Fukuryū Maru, and its crew to high amounts of radiation. (Noriega 1987:65) This disaster is shown in the opening scene of Gojira, a scene that would be recognizable to all Japanese watching the film. Honda, like many Japanese shared these anxieties over the devastation of atomic weapons, but he recognized that he could not make a film explicitly about these weapons. (also about the guilt of americans by showing tis scene.)This was due to the censorship laws under the occupation. This censorship did not allow media to criticize the United States, (Rosenfeld 2002:86) and if Honda had explicitly made a film of the aftermath of the United States attack on Japan, it would be a criticism. There was no outlet for these concerns because this, which lingered even after they left the country, hence why Honda posed the atomic threat as a monster in his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Classic autism is what most people see as the only form and those visual clues include: nonverbal communication, increased focus and concentration of the individual on a particular object, repetitive movements, such as hand flapping or rocking, even self harm is an identifying characteristic of classic autism. (Wikipedia/Autism, n.d.) As early as 18 months to 3 years of age is when most children are diagnosed in one form or another under the Spectrum. Parents generally see the evidence of the child showing tendencies towards the Spectrum and therefore will reach for an assessment and eventually a diagnosis. A lot of the indicators towards testing and diagnosis is the child not hitting normal milestones that a neurotypical peer would reach at the same point. Generally, it is more delayed indicating a possible problem. Currently there is not a medical test that is used to reach a diagnosis. In the diagnostic process they use a multidisciplinary approach. How the Trickle-Down Theory Works in China Essay How the trickle down theory works in China The Trickle down theory, a well known theory in fashion industry, has significant meaning in 19th to 20th century Europe. The American economist and sociologist, Veblen, published The theory of the Leisure Class by 1899, in which he discussed the split between the leisure class and the industrial class in the US critically. He concluded that leisure class treats dress as a sign of their status and possessions, furthermore, Dress must not only be conspicuously expensive and inconvenient; it must at the same time be up to date (Veblen 1994), by saying that, he refers to upper class was tend to create new fashion trend which was the top of the trickle down theory. At that time, it is said that all the maid in waitings in imperial palaces stimulated the Empress Xiaocheng, Feiyan Zhao (32BC 1BC), wearing fairy retaining skirts (Barbara 2000). And according to Lang huan ji which was a classic novel written by Shizhen Yi, a scholar in the Yuan dynasty (1206 1368), in the Tang dynasty (618AD 907AD), young girls loved to manipulate imperial Concubine s and Princess s makeup and hair styles, which indicated that fashion flows from the upper class, such as royal family, to general people. The event they paid so much money for, cleared up time in their schedule for, spent time getting to the event for. As the lights dim, the spotlight shines on the center stage. Then an average person emerges on the stage with a thousand eyes on him. He only has with a microphone in his hand. Just a typical person, with a normal gait and normal sense of fashion. However, after speaking a few words in the microphone, the crowd bursts into a cacophony of laughter. No matter how ordinary or extraordinary the person, entertainment through humor is universal. Utilizing humor, an extensive language of amusement, to open perspectives and challenge what is conceived right or wrong can be impactful if done correctly. Dave Sedaris accomplishes that goal when he uses humor to illustrate his dilemma because of his identity. Despite being an accomplished successful comedian, author, radio show host, certain people look down at him as just a homosexual freak. Rather than gravely addressing his opposition, Sedaris utilizes a jovial yet relatable anecdote called Chicken in a Henhouse . • 12. Long Term Species Is The Main Goal Of Conservation Biology 1.1 Conservation genetics Long term species persistence is the main goal of conservation biology, and this has been associated with maintenance of species evolutionary potential (Hamrick et al. 1991), which in turn, is not unconnected with higher levels of genetic variation in the focal species (Frankel and Soule 1981). Therefore, the field of conservation genetics, defined as the application of molecular genetic techniques to the conservation of biodiversity (Frankham 2010), was introduced for accurate understanding of genetic diversity in a focal taxa, and how this can be maintained or amplified, in order to ensure species persistence, even in a changing environment. Population genetic theory (Wright 1969) suggests that small isolated populations will undergo genetic drift, inbreeding and reduced gene flow, resulting in loss of intra population genetic variation, increased genetic differentiation among populations, inbreeding depression and loss of fitness (Barrett and Kohn 1991), leading to extirpation (Reed and Frankham 2003). This is also corroborated from ecological theory that predicted that small populations with small geographical range and poor dispersal capacity have higher extinction risk (Belovsky et al. 1999). Consequently, population size is one of the most important criteria in IUCN criteria for red listing of threatened species (Mace et al. 2008). • 16. Shipping Patented By E Commerce Giant Anticipatory shipping is a method of shipping patented by e commerce giant Amazon in December 2013. During the normal shipping process, an e commerce retailer or goods manufacturer receives a customer order specifying the exact address where the product is to be delivered. The company then prepares the package and hands it over to a shipping service provider such as FedEx for delivery. The delay of multiple days between order placement and actual delivery is a major impediment to the wide acceptance of e commerce. It forces e commerce companies to offer incentives like cash on delivery to their customers. Anticipatory shipping is aimed at cutting the delivery time and improving the experience for e commerce users. With this technique, a company will ship products even before an order is placed by a customer. It would specify only a partial address indicating destination geographical area for delivery. While the packages are in transit, the company will employ advanced analytics and forecasting techniques to predict which customers would want to buy the shipped products. Then it could use targeted marketing and sales promotions to induce such customers to buy the products. If a customer indeed places an order, the company would provide exact delivery address to the shipping service provider and the products could be delivered much quicker, even on the same day. • 19. Angry Black White Boy In Adam Mansbach s Angry Black White Boy (ABWB), the protagonist, Macon Detornay, is a white male who is obsessed with black culture and angry with white Americans. Macon moved to New York City for college and began a crime spree of robbing white people who rode in his taxicab. The city of New York went on a search for the black man who was supposedly robbing these people. Eventually, Macon s true skin color is revealed and he decides to use his newfound fame to discuss the evils of white people. Macon then founded the Race Traitor Project. This idea was for guilty white people and liberals to be a part of what he called a Day of Apology, in which white people were to apologize for the hundreds of years of oppression they put minorities through. The Day of Apology ended up causing a major riot, which led Macon to decide how committed he was to the Race Traitor Project. Adam Mansbach used ABWB as a means to shed light on institutional racism and what can be done to end it. Institutional racism is a concept that many people hear about today, but no one wants to really discuss. Avram Bornstein s Institutional Racism argues that there needs to be a distinction between the racial bias and institutional racism due to the recent law enforcement encounters in New York. That s why people often change so much when they have a near death experience. I believe something significant happened to Cole on the island, (128). • 27. Sociological Explanations For The Divorce Phenomenon A major change that has occurred in the Western family is an increased incidence in divorce. Whereas in the past, divorce was a relatively rare occurrence, in recent times it has become quite commonplace. This change is borne out clearly in census figures. For example thirty years ago in Australia, only one marriage in ten ended in divorce; nowadays the figure is more than one in three (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 1996: p.45). A consequence of this change has been a substantial increase in the number of single parent families and the attendant problems that this brings (Kilmartin, 1997). An important issue for sociologists, and indeed for all of society, is why these changes in marital patterns have occurred. In this essay I will seek to critically examine a number of sociological explanations for the divorce phenomenon and also consider the social policy implications that each explanation carries with it. It will be argued that the best explanations are to be found within a broad socio economic framework. One type of explanation for rising divorce has focused on changes in laws relating to marriage. For example, Bilton, Bonnett and Jones (1987) argue that increased rates of divorce do not necessarily indicate that families are now more unstable. It is possible, they claim, that there has always been a degree of marital instability. They suggest that changes in the law have been significant, because they have provided unhappily married couples with access to a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pardoner And Summoner In The Canterbury Tales The Relationship Between the Pardoner and Summoner In The Canterbury Tales, written by Geoffrey Chaucer, characters from medieval times are portrayed. Two important characters discussed are the Pardoner and the Summoner. The Pardoner is a young man who sells church pardons to those who have done wrong. The Summoner is responsible for issuing summons which order people to appear in court. Due to the author s view of the church, the Pardoner and Summoner s physical description, and the two men s actions, it is clear that the Pardoner and Summoner are in a homosexual relationship. The author of The Canterbury Tales expresses his views of the church through the characters he chooses to portray. N.S. Thompson writes about the Pardoner and says, The Pardoner, who sells indulgences for money on his own behalf (Chaucer, Geoffrey 54). The Pardoner lacks respect for the people who come to him for indulgences. He is concerned about his own wealth instead of helping others receive forgiveness. Their approach from the perspective of New Testament studies and Catholic Moral Theology to ethics in inspiring. With regard to the above question, I am fascinated by Keenan s reflection on humility in the context the context of natural environment: To be humble is to know one s power in the universe and to respect one s own place in that universe and the place of others...Humility warns us against the attitude of dominion, but also keeps us from being detached from the world. It prompts us to see our profound dependence on the world in which we are made (Harrington and Keenan, p. 192). Cultivating the virtue of humility as we deal with our ecological crisis helps us appreciate that any ecological ethic which takes into account both God and humanity and does not reduce both to some extension of undifferentiated nature must begin with a rejection of the unbridled sovereignty of humanity over the earth. In this rejection is the recognition that all work upon the earth must be informed by a clear understanding of and respect for the earth as an autonomous and valuable entity and the laws of nature on which the bounty of the earth depends. Humility is knowing one s place. As a virtue, it goes against extremes. This means that, although, in the exercise of dominion over the earth, humanity was given the right to take from the bounty of the earth whatever it needs for subsistence (Genesis 1:29), this dominion ... A common misconception when talking about gun free zones is that Gun free zones can easily be misunderstood as meaning zero guns, but rather (usually) means that an unauthorized person cannot carry in that area (which may vary from state to state). The negative commerce clause, also known as the dormant commerce clause is a doctrine established by the U.S. Supreme Court, limiting individual states of the United States from passing legislation that inappropriately discriminates against interstate commerce. The dormant commerce clause limits the power of individual states to legislate on such matters and is not an express clause in the U.S. Constitution (AMAR, K. 2007). Why would dormant commerce clause apply to business? The Dormant Commerce Clause is the belief that local and state laws are undemocratic if the state places an unwarranted encumbrance on local commerce, moreover, even if Congress has not acted on behalf of its commerce power it lies dormant (Chemerinsky, E., n.d.). This means that the cross, which was initially associated with the death of Christ, has today become an image and reminder of hope. He continually goes on in the play about how he is well know in all of New England as a great salesman (Miller, 121). But in actuality, he is a mediocre, aging has been. He puts on a mask for the most detrimental person: himself. It is the lying to himself that kills Willy s soul. • 41. Essay on Bacons Rebellion Bacon s Rebellion quot;Where we do well know that all our causes will be impartially heard and equally justice administered to all men, quot; as stated by, Nathaniel Bacon. 1 In 1676 an uprising known as Bacon s Rebellion occurred in Virginia. The immediate cause of this revolt was the dissension between the planters and the Indians. Because Sir William Berkeley, the Governor of Virginia had willingly denied support to the farmers, Bacon assumed leadership of an unauthorized expedition against the Indians. When Bacon learned that Governor Berkeley was rising a force against him, he turned away from the Indians to fight with Berkley. This had now become a serious problem for the governor. When news of this revolt had reached King ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately Governor Sir William Berkeley was not living up to those standards. Berkeley did not care about the farmers. It was obvious that the only thing he cared about was making money. The event that sparked the rebellion occurred when the Indians attacked the farmers. Normally these farmers were expecting to receive help from the governor. They became irritated when the governor did not support them. Through the eyes of the freemen this was seen as a big mistake. Because the governor did not give them the support, they had to take matters into their own hands. After defeating the Indians, the unofficially elected Nathaniel Bacon took charge. When he led his men into town to form an assembly, it would be the first assembly in fifteen years. After the long struggle and hard fought battle these freemen received their gift. They were finally able to appeal a law that denied their right to vote. They were now considered legal voters. Another important aspect of democracy is social equality. During the 17th century in Virginia, people were either wealthy or poor. The proprietors held the wealth, while the plantation workers in Virginia were poor. In addition the farmers had no rights. The freemen had to be taxed and there was nothing they could do about it. It did not hurt the rich to be taxed because they could afford it. When the lower class ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Di Leo s Essay In Praise Of Tough Criticism Criticism can come in many forms and Di Leo argues in his article, In Praise of Tough Criticism, that tough criticism is superior, and should be preferred to the alternatives. His thesis statement can be summed up as this: While most professors in the academic community find harsh criticism distasteful, compassion doesn t do the authors justice in rewarding truly superior work, and if criticism isn t critical there shouldn t be any criticism at all. This thesis gives an overall preview into what the article is about but it doesn t capture his main points or add any illumination for the reader. If I were to restructure his thesis it would could be summed up as: While most scholars view harsh criticism as a form of jealousy and envy towards the authors, the alternatives to harsh criticism are far worse, and we should desire to receive honest, direct opinions from critics. This would enable us to separate truly superior work from mediocrity, while simultaneously raising the quality of writing throughout the world. Tactics such as faint praise and anonymity are used so advocates against harsh criticism can avoid praising mediocrity, while not giving in to the temptation of harsh criticism. He says that scholars would prefer these methods because it allows them to be critical without the consequences of being seen as jealous or envious. Along with this, he believes that anonymous harsh reviews done by advocates against harsh criticism is hypocritical and that is just a form of cowardice. The fact that my thesis would mention the alternatives would improve Di Leo s thesis because it is capturing his argument in a more precise way that critics fearful of being seen as jealous or envious by critiquing harshly should consider that the alternatives are far ... • 44. Observation Of Daya During this past week, I was enjoying some relaxation time from my busy and hectic schedule and watching some Netflix. I was watching an episode of Orange Is The New Black, form Season 1. The overall summary of the episode that I was watching was that there was an inmate, Daya, who was pregnant from one of the prison guards who also happens to be her boyfriend. In a panic of trying to protect the boyfriend/prison guard from being fired once it is figured out that Daya is pregnant, multiple inmates work together in coming up with a plan trying to help out Daya. The helpers include Daya s family members, people from the same race, and a couple random women from a different clique. It was a little odd that all these inmates were working together trying to help out Daya in such an involved and difficult situation. All of these women who are usually at each other s throats are now working together trying to come up with solutions. In addition to this, the solution that the group decided on, was given by one the women from the outside clique, which was odd. However, we later learn that the reason why she ... The women that were from the same race, shows that we tend to help people that look like us. Extracurricular activities benefit students by helping them learn how to manage their time more efficiently and improve academics. There are social benefits, benefits outside of school, and benefits after school. They help develop students and make them became what they will be in the future. Extracurricular activities most definitely benefit the students and even the school. Extracurricular activities can help students by helping them learn how to manage their time more efficiently and improve academics. Students learn how to balance their activities and school work appropriately, this helps the student get their homework done on time and limit procrastination (Jackson). With less time to do homework, students work more efficiently, this limits those late night homework sessions, because students will make sure their work is done. When participating in an extracurricular activity, students might find that they have less time to work, so to compensate they plan out when they will complete their homework, showing responsibility, and time management ( Why Extracurricular ). Responsibility and good time management are beneficial because it shows that students know how to manage their time to complete things before they are due. • 46. Meaning Of Plato s Examined Life Living an examined life means to constantly question our values and beliefs in order to be able to ideally defend our ideas about how to live our lives. This questioning allows us to have an open mind to new information that could change the way we look at and live our lives. Practicing living an examined life comes with various obstacles. We may experience people surrounding us, for example our neighbors, family members, turn against us, treat us and our ideas as threatening to the society. Although we may have to face these difficulties, through questioning what we already know, we will be able to acquire much more information, as well as build new ideas about those beliefs, which will make us more knowledgeable. An intelligent person who is filled with knowledge may have the correct answers to questions being asked, rather than a person who possesses the right opinion . In the dialogue Meno, Plato explains the difference, Socrates, is only that he who has knowledge will always be right; but he who has right opinion will sometimes be right, sometimes not. (Meno np). The one who has the right opinion may be answering a question with a guess, rather than make use of a truthful information because such one does not possess the needed knowledge. Sometimes the response to a question through right opinion, if the individual is lucky, may be correct; however, it is not always the case. A person with knowledge, on the other hand, is able to proof his or her answer with facts and true information, which will explain why he or she must be right. Possession of knowledge makes one a better person because one can give true information, direction to those who seek it rather than guess and possibly give false information to the ... Cadbury has unfortunately seen lack of penetration in the rural market where people tend to dismiss it as a high end product, as the prices do range between standard and premium, never any less. The reason for high prices is due some of the cocoa, a major ingredient, having to be imported, resulting in several charges and a higher inventory. The company must also find solutions to natural conditions, for example, heat. The majority of the markets in India are not air conditioned, hence cannot store chocolates, at least during hot summers, which limits market access. Industrial Production Cadbury, beside many other companies, supply the local market through its local production units. Cadbury India manages to practice this through five factories, located in Thane, Pune, Induri and Malanpur in West India, and Baddi in North India. Cocoa, being a major raw material as discussed, is not only imported but also procured mainly from local plantations in South India, in the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
