2. Photography
The mise-en-scene within my music magazine
photographs will be…
Costumes: The costumes will be regular day
clothes so the audience feels they’re on the
same level. Having a range of simple
costumes/outfits let the audience focus more on
the persons body language and what message
they are trying to convey.
Lighting: The lighting in my idea will be bright,
drawing in my target audience and having an
easier backlight to see, this will be because they
have to be the main icon on the page and they
are seen first, if the lighting is low or bad it will
not have the same effect.
Acting: Acting and body language are quite
similar within their aspects. Most images will
have a happy facial expression, singing or just
natural. Having a variety allows the audience to
keep focused and not get bored.
Make-up: The makeup will be a mix of loud and
natural, depending where my setting is depends
on the makeup. I will have natural day to day
makeup for my younger audiences and at a
louder setting having bolder, bigger makeup.
This will allow us to have a mix to let all different
audiences have something to look at.
Props: The props I will use within my
photography are maybe microphones to convey
the music side, maybe cut out letters of the
artists name or the genre ‘pop’ in bright colours
to contrast from the simple photographs.
Another prop would be what my target audience
would use daily such as mobile phones,
electronics, makeup, hair accessories to allow
them to connect and have a sense of purpose
towards the audience ages, for the older age
group socializing and parties.
Some examples of images that I would
like to include are…
These are some sketches of my own ideas that I
would put forward for my photography in my
magazine….
Setting: Having different setting within my
magazine will allow them to have different
feelings towards each one, for example being
outside for one will make them relaxed and
calm, being at a concert will give them the
adrenaline rush for when their waiting for
their favorite act. For one of my images id like
to try out a green screen so the ideas could
be endless.
3. Genre
Conventions
Some of the conventions I would use
vary within each section to bring out
individuality of them such as…
Images: there will be a variety of
images, especially on the contents
and front cover. They will be a variety
of white wall photographs, green
screen photographs and background
photographs. Having this mix of
imagery allows the audience to be
surprised every time they see a new
image. The images will be a mix of
genders to draw in all audiences, also
a range of ages which fit in my target
audience and go with my research.
Typography: to keep the magazine
simple, sophisticated and visible to the
reader I want my font to be Arial font
because it’s the most easy to see .
However on some texts like headlines,
subheadings and block quotes because
these need to stand out.
Colour Scheme: My colour schemes
have two be juvenile and still have a
purpose. The colour which go with my
questionnaire responses and still have
a more sophisticated look are, pink,
white, black, silver. Including pops of
colour every now and again of blue,
purple, yellow and red. Having the
pops of colour will surprise the readers
and make them want to see more.
The black is for the male, pink is for
female, white and silver are more
natural and tie the other colours
together nicely.
Some of the research I found out from my music questionnaire…
The genre was expected for me, from this I will conform the
expectations of the genre floor example having louder colours
included because the word ‘Pop’ is all about being loud and being
notices. Pop has so many artists so including a variety will allow a
wider audience to read which is what my aim is. From the images
above there is colour in everyone of them which makes this genre
stand out, the main colours are pink and red which stand out. The
genre is also quite open in a way that
These are some examples of front covers, content pages
and double page spreads which I researched and found
(also what I did for my Music Magazine Analysis task.
Content: The content within will range
from fashion, gossip (which is what my
main double page spread will be based
around) New celebrities and a variety of
new news stories because it makes the
audience feel engaged and draw them
in. Interviews will be included because
the audience will feel a slight
connection as though they mean
something and have a purpose.
4. Content of
Magazine
Cover lines: My cover lines have to be sharp,
clear and to the point, going with this I have a
few ideas for them such as
Is music healthy for you?
How music can help you survive college
Who is touring near you this season?
Contents: The news stories that the
audience will see on my contents page
are

Some of the stories that I will include
in my magazine and that will fit with
my genre and my target audience

5. Target Audience
My music magazine will be aimed at…
A teenage/adult age, using my responses from
my music questionnaire . My age range is 15-
25, this is the age of gcse’s and college and uni,
this allows them to not only escape the horrible
work situations and have some relaxation time
. Its more of an entertainment source which is
what my aim was all along. Including different
content such as top charts, music themes and
how music can help them through school.
Content within: the content within has to link
with the audiences age, for example at their
age its all about exams, work, schools and
friendships. In this magazine its an
entertainment so letting them have a break
from the work. The main stories would aim
away from school and to music, such as top
charts, new artists, skills needed for the music
career. Going for the older age group who are
more in college or university its including more
about life, helping them with situations linked
with music such as how to make money with
music, top artist, be less stressed with music
and get through college with the new taste in
music. Because my audience is fairly young and
some older, it has to suit all, so having the mix
between help and entertainment.
I will specifically target them through different way
such as…
Design: the design has the vary from images and
text, this is because too much text can bore the
young people especially as it is an entertainment
magazine. Yet too many pictures will argue they
don’t have enough facts or text. There has to be a
good balance of both. Again with the design the
typography has to be visible yet still creative, the
colours I want to be bright in the text. Some of the
text I would like to overlap and to get them engaged
within instead of looking at normal fonts, normal
colours and normal placing's. my images will have
high key lighting.
The design for my front cover aiming at my target
audience is clearly laid out text, bright colours with
pops of yellows and purples on specific text. The
images will be high key lighting with not a posed
position.
The design for my contents page is clear laid out
sections for each part of the magazine for example
style, stories, gossip, interviews and celebrities and
more to do with pop music itself like top charts,
number one, radio station interviews, concerts
coming up soon and what artists to listen out for.
The design for my double page spread is one page
text, one large image which a heading. The image
taking up 2/3 of the page and the heading taking up
1/3 of the page.
