How the Houson Chronicle Forces Readers to Think About the...
It is common knowledge that the education system in America needs work and that Texas is not
exempt from this need. The Houston Chronicle has published numerous articles on the subject that
address both the need for change and show what Houston has done to grow. As The Houston
Chronicle releases its media agenda it is not forcing its readers to think a certain way but instead is
presenting an issue in order to spark opinion forming thoughts. The articles all share a common thread
of attributes that help develop the agenda for the reader. The eventual outcomes for the public differ
based on who the reader is and what their current lifestyle is.
In most of the articles published by The Houston Chronicle the key attributes that are addressed ...

The goals of all these articles seems to be getting the general public interested in the education of our
youth to help them achieve more in life. Each article presents the problem and follows the steps to
develop a solution. These possible solutions serve as the final agenda that The Houston Chronicle
hopes the reader will think about and develop an opinion of.
As the general public reads these articles there are three primary outcomes that they could have:
support, disinterest, or opposition. In Fikac s article covering Davis plan for increased education
spending we see the two extreme points of view. Davis with the support of the Democrat party
supports increased incentives for qualified students to enter the field of education along with increased
pay to teachers who are getting the desired results all while hopefully not increasing the current tax
rate. The Republicans argue that Davis math makes little sense and that it is not possible to spend
more without increasing taxes. (Fikac, 2014) When the public reads this article the media will have
fulfilled their goal of getting the audience to think about the subject. The outcome will be dependent
upon the reader s views and expectations of the government in regards to education. The outcome is
also dependent on the reader s lifestyle. A person with multiple school age children will be more prone
to considering The Houston Chronicles agenda then a

The Senate Bill 1365, By Albert Hale Former Navajo Nation...
Chapter four A Creation Story introduces the Senate Bill 1365 now revised into two laws ARS 15 341
and ARS 15 710, Albert Hale former Navajo Nation president and Arizona State Senator introduced
Bill 1365 in 2004. His intentions behind SB 1365 was to eradicate the so called mutual respect
between dominant society and Native Americans specifically Dine people. In order for respect to be
reciprocal dominant society needs to know who we are as Dine people as well as our history,
government, culture and sovereignty. As the bill is transitioning through the process of being approved
there were issues the AZ state board did not agree with. They only approved the history to be taught
because they keep control of what they want society to know about us. Just like sovereignty as Native
Nation we are semi sovereign meaning we do not have all the requirements of a sovereign nation. But
the two main powers we exercise is self government, and taxing revenue through gaming. Native
American has been a huge part of who we are as Native Nations the Next chapter five Emergence

Arizona schools interpreted and their knowledge of the two ARS laws while they were educators.
About 60% of those individuals had no knowledge of the Native American social studies standards.

This paper provides detailed information about the aspect or revenue recognition as compared to the
US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and International Financial Reporting Standards as the

Comparison between US GAAP and IFRS in revenue recognition
The two accounting boards usually try to work towards a general set of the procedures that is used to
recognizing revenue. The International Financial Reporting Standards which is considered to be the
International Accounting Standards Boards who are a counterpart to the US GAAP (Kadous 132). The
revenue recognition is usually concerned with how and when record income as a result of completing
a full earning process. The aspect of revenue recognition principle usually holds out that diverse
companies should book or record the revenue when it is earned and not when received because the
flow of cash in the company or firm does not have any relation to the revenue recognition. In this
situation, it is well known as the principle of accrual basis accounting. On the other hand, however,
the losses should be fully recognized or realized when their occurrence becomes presumably, whether
it has occurred or not occurred. This comports with the restraint of conservatism, yet brings it into
conflict with the constraint of consistency, in that reflecting revenues or the gains is inconsistent with
the way in which losses are reflected (Ammons). According to Financial Accounting Standards Board

The Cleveland Football Team
Most people born and raised in North East Ohio were born into a long standing tradition of being a
Cleveland sports fan. Cleveland, Ohio has three major sports teams, while each one participates in a
different sport. The fans in this region have had a choice of football, baseball, and basketball, some
fans, are fans of each and every one of these teams, while others may only prefer one or two of these
particular sports. Two out of the three teams has been around for a long time, the football team was
founded in the late 1940s, and the baseball team was founded in the early 1900s. The newcomer to the

Of the three major sports teams in Cleveland, Ohio, the Cleveland Cavalier, for they joined the
National Basketball Association (NBA) in the early 1970. The Cavaliers had a very rocky start with
the first 15 years being a losing season, after losing season. While some fans blamed the owner at the
time, as he had no clue what he wanted to do with the team. But in 1988 the Cavaliers put together a
rather good team, that made it to the playoff. During the first round of the playoff the Cavaliers played
the Chicago Bulls in the best of five series. In the 5th game the Cavaliers were leading with only
second to go in the game, but as with other teams in Cleveland, it would happen again, Michael
Jordon would hit a basket with only 2 seconds left on the clock, this basket would be known as the
shot , as this is a common theme for Cleveland fans, that all heartbreaking plays are given a name.
Again, after the 1988 season the Cavaliers would only have mediocre seasons until after the 2003
draft, as a hometown boy from Akron, Ohio, named LeBron James, was graduating from high school,
although the Cavaliers were not guaranteed that they would have the first draft pick to sign James, but
as fate would have it, the Cavs, ended up winning the draft lottery and signed this young man to play
for the Cavaliers. From the beginning of James career as a basketball player

The Messenger Of The Lord
The Israelites are now occupying the Land that was promised to them through their forefathers.
Because of the Israelites disobedient to God, the Land was still occupied by the Canaanites. This is a
hostile time for the nation of Israel to be living among people who worship pagan gods. Within the
passage, the messenger of the Lord went up from Gilgal. Many towns in Scripture are named Gilgal
but, the one the author is referring to is not certain. Because of the setting and previous information
found in Joshua, the City that the author is referring to very well could be the same one in Josh 4:12
where Joshua made the first camp at Gilgal. The Messenger of the Lord meets the Israelites at Bochim
which means weepers. The exact location is not certain but, it may have been located between bethel
and Gilgal.
Textual Condition
Precise dating for the book of Judges is not certain. Because of information found in the book
composition seems to come much later after the event unfold. A date between 1400BC to 1200BC is
debated among scholars for the composition. The Exodus also contributors to determine a good date

The Influence Of Western Civilization
The Influence of western Civilization
Western Civilization has had a tremendous influence on many different cultures worldwide. From the
Hispanic cultures in South and Central America, to the Caribbean islands, and also to the various
exotic African countries, and even to the distinguished cultures that reside in the continent of Asia. In
many ways than one, these cultures have been molded to be as westernized as they could possibly be
without losing their traditional customs indefinitely. They re religion, fashion sense, and family
structures have all been altered in some form so that it could resemble the western nation s patriarch.
Countries in North America and Europe have for centuries traveled to different continents in the world
and colonized many nations, as a result of that, many of the customs and traditions of those people
have been shaped to be a bit more westernized.
One prime element in different cultures that was influenced by Western countries is religion. Religion
is defined as the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power that could be one s own
personal God, Gods, or even Goddesses. The most popular and followed religion in the world is
Christianity. Christianity is also widely known and accepted as a European/ Westernized religion
though the origin of Christianity began in what is today the Middle East, and Asia. In fact, Jesus of

The Educational Software as a Motivational Tool in English...
INTRODUCTION The educational software as a motivational tool in English Language Teaching.
Time has gone by and the teaching of foreign languages has developed, specially in English Language
Teaching. Among the most significant advances one may find: the determination of the professors of
trusting on their own resources, the right to choose their cross point between the theory and the
practice and to look for pedagogical solutions to the problems. One issue that is still subject of
discussion is that of motivation. English has become an indispensable instrument of communication in
the entire world, taking place a proliferation of methods and teaching texts; from the one designed in

It can be applied by means of didactic machines, but also by means of books, records and even oral
communication. It is a technical device, apart from the Educational Technology that exposes the
norms or techniques for the application of didactic programs. This essay presents an analysis of the
possibilities of the use of educational software as a motivational tool as well as discuss its advantages
and disadvantages in the teaching of English. DISCUSSION It could be argued that with the use of
technology the role of the teacher is reduced to the elaboration of the program while the student
acquires a predominant role, since he self instructs, self programs and receives an individualized
learning in agreement with his/her rhythm of assimilation (Vygotsky, 1987), (Wood, 1996). Although
this non collaborative, in some cases, character may look not beneficial, this teaching type has its
advantages and, consequently, its disadvantages. Regarding the advantages of the use of technology, it
could be said that provides a constant activation and motivation to the students (Davis, 1992),
provides a safe ground for individual work as well as a collaborative environment, instant feedback,
depending on the tool, about the results of the learning and in countries with economic difficulties it
could eventually contribute to satisfy an educational need in some contexts, that is, provide instruction
to a large mass of students. Technology, as a human crafted

Human Trafficking Is The Trade Of A Human
Human trafficking is the trade of a human for the purpose of forced labor, sexual slavery, and sexual
exploitation of men, women and children. This may include providing a spouse in the context of
forced marriage, the removal of organs or tissues, include surrogacy, prostitution, pornography and
even consensual sex with a minor. Human trafficking can occur within a country or nationally. Human
trafficking is a crime against the person because of the violation of the victim s rights of movement
through coercion and because of their exploitation. Human trafficking is the trade in people, and does
not necessarily involve the movement of the person from one place to another (Perez). Human
trafficking can also be the use of a bond or debt to dominate or control someone, most commonly and
illegal immigrant. Victims are often forced into trafficking. Victims can also be persuaded into
trafficking because of their background, such as childhood abuse or prostitution. It is estimated that as
many as 20 to 30 million people worldwide are subject to trafficking of some kind. Trafficking in
persons is often qualified as a modern form of slavery by international organizations, politicians and
scholars (Van der Wilt). Human trafficking is extremely lucrative, with low cost and high rewards
(Smith). Trafficking is a multi billion dollar industry ranking only behind drugs as the most lucrative
criminal enterprise. Human trafficking is said to come second, ahead of the gun smuggling

Lean Six Sigma And Its Application
Abstract or Executive summary:
Lean Six Sigma is a widely known approach used for improving the processing and quality of the
products and services in an organization. Some of its major functions include improving quality,
removing waste, reducing variation and organization. There have been several studies that focus on
the combination of Lean Enterprise and Six Sigma. These applications mainly focused on the private
industry more than the government industry. Hence, the research aims to explore the strategy of Lean
Six Sigma and its application to the local government. The research uses a qualitative and Descriptive
Method to investigate the area of Lean Six Sigma tools in improving the quality and processes within
an organization. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the use of both strategies together could be challenging as few organizations have been able
to successfully integrate and apply the Green Lean Six Sigma. There are several factors that influence
the implementation of Green Lean Six Sigma implementation process.
Six Sigma:
In addition to this, Lean Six Sigma mainly focuses on eliminating waste and improving efficiency. It
consists of a combination of two strategies namely; Lean Enterprise and Six Sigma. Six Sigma
involves the Quality management of product which includes waste reduction, identifying defects if
any and also improving the quality. Six Sigma set its stage in the industry by Motorola Corporation in
1980. Furthermore, It gained its popularity in 1990s.
Lean Enterprise:
When it comes to Lean Enterprise, it focuses mainly on reducing cycle time and also waste in the
process. Lean Enterprise was at first developed by Toyota Motor Corporation as the Toyota Production
System which became popular after 1973. The energy crisis facilitated the increasing demand at that
time. The term Lean Enterprise is used to broaden the scope of a Lean programme from
manufacturing to embrace the enterprise or entire organization . (Alukal, 2003)
Lean Six Sigma:
Therefore, Lean Six Sigma uses a variety of problem solving tools that analyze the process as well as
the nature of problem being studied. These tools also facilitate the organization and simplification of

How Did Babylonians Use Bladed Weapons
Gabby brooks and thomas willett April 14, 2017 4th hour American History Weaponry The ancient
babylonians used sharpened weapons such as sickle swords, socketed axes, spears, and the egyptian

The babylonians were a bronze age people, so the bladed weapons they used were made of a softer
metal than later civilizations iron and steel. This made them less effective in battle than iron and iron

Man s Search For Meaning By Viktor E. Frankl
Viktor E. Frankl s novel Man s Search for Meaning is a novel founded on the personal journey of
Viktor and how he discovered his meaning in life. In the course of his discovery of the meaning of life
he decides to hopefully help those in pain and sufferings find their meaning as well. The book entails
tragedy and extreme misfortune in Auschwitz concentration camp as a captive; yet through this pain
and suffering is where Viktor Frankl originated his will to persevere and psychological techniques for
survival.
Throughout Viktor E. Frankl s book Man s Search for Meaning mental, physical, and emotional
torture and attack impressed on the prisoners in the Auschwitz concentration camp was a regular and
familiar topic. The accompanying guards kept shouting at us and driving us with the butts of their
rifles. Anyone with very sore feet supported himself on his neighbor s arm. Hardly a word was
spoken; the icy wind did not encourage talk. (Page #37) If I was compelled to experience an
organization or group of authorities that I had no rights or privileges whatsoever, while enduring the
harsh realities of nature s weather, and facing weapons intended to take my life and the lives around
me, I would most likely be in survival mode and be focused on trying to be as composed and
camouflaged as possible. It is admirable how the prisoners in this recollection from Viktor are thinking
of one another as well as themselves by assisting their fellow man in survival as well. I would like

Review Of Cinderella A Chinese Cinderella Story And...
One can argue that Cinderella stories have become an essential folktales not only to young people but
as well as to older people. These stories have been recognized worldwide. Even more so, they were
retold by different people and have been translated to different languages. What is fascinating about
this is that different cultures have different interpretations of Cinderella stories and some do not
appear to be the same slightly. Moreover, this paper examines two different cultures, Yen Shen a
Chinese Cinderella story and The Golden Sandal, a Middle Eastern Cinderella Story, and their
philosophies about these folktales by comparing and contrasting them. I will be exploring the different
versions of this story from different cultures including the American version. Cinderella story is

The archetypal hero journey, Joseph Campbell states, is a typical series of heroic actions. Four stages
form the hero journey: departure, trials, epiphany, and return (the stages do not necessarily occur

finally rebirth form hero journey amp;#8217;s motif. An archetypal hero pattern is the transformation
of the character amp;#8217;s conscience through trials and revelations. Lust, fear, and social duties

paths the characters follow are not always comparable.
Job amp;#8217;s departure is a lifestyle departure. Living his life splendidly fulfilled, Job

Thomas Becket has two departures. The first is a physical departure Becket physically leaves the stage

physically exiting, Becket actually acquires his second, spiritual departure. The spiritual departure
Becket undergoes is not stated directly, but occurs while Becket is off stage. Becket amp;#8217;s

scrutinized by others. Culture and ethnicity are important variables in group therapy because they set
up norms and positions of power, and can both enhance and distance a group
(Gladding, 2012). Groups often replicate cultural norms members practice outside of the group.
Within the group, members can use their cultural differences to enhance group growth and
effectiveness, and apply what they have experienced and learned to their lives outside of group
(i.e., social microcosm; Gladding, 2012). Suggestions for future research to help increase social
microcosm include incorporating more males and cultural/ethic variations of group participants and
leaders, running groups specifically for ethnic minorities, and using non Western group therapies for
multicultural individuals with social phobia.

Essay about Product Life Cycle Analysis For The Apple Ipod
The alarm clock rings and its time to go for a jog and get the morning routine off to a good start. After
my morning jog I take a shower while listening to my favorite high energy time to wake up music.
The weather channel says it is going to be a rainy morning, so I grab my umbrella and head for the
door. During the car ride I toggle between the news and my French audio lessons. All of these events
are done through the use of a little device that seems to be everywhere you look. For the past years we
have seen how APPLE Computers Inc. has not only introduced the Ipod into the market for music
players, but created the new must have pop icon. The following is a brief analysis of the product life

All of which create similar players that incorporate design and functionality. Although some of these
are household names none has been able to dethrone the iPod from being the icon for digital
jukeboxes. The first casualty that fell to the iPod was the iRiver Rio that could not compete with the
loyalty people have for Apple. Part of the iPod secret is the iTunes software. This is a platform where
you can download music into your iPod and organize the files. It offers a library of over three million
songs from very diverse genres of music. Others have tried to mimic this concept but have not been
able to create the following that iPod has. An example of these failed ventures is the Sone Connect
store which is attempting to offer Sony s MiniDisc player as an alternative to Apple s iPod. Even Wal
Mart, Amazon.com and Tower Records are also seeking a piece of the action by selling individual
songs for a cheaper price than iTunes by adding these retailers the market is growing and becoming
more and more competitive. It can be a safe assumption that Apple s iTunes internet downloadable
music will partly replace the traditional channels through which music had been distributed in the
past. It is evident that since its emergence into the market this little monster has gobbled up the market
share of digital music gadgets. Apple has been able to directly penetrate the market and enable a quick
adoption for the iPod.

Facilitating Career Planning for African American Women in...
Most nonprofit agencies follow the same management structure. The structure normally consists of a
vertical hierarchal structure with the chief executive manager at the helm, and divisional leaders
rounding out the strategic leadership team. Since 9/11, then government shutdowns, multiple wars,
natural disasters, and the government sequester, the challenge to most nonprofits is to compete for
every available charitable dollar. Chief Executive Officers (CEO) of nonprofits must not only be
skillful in maximizing the outcomes with fewer dollars, but also politically savvy in vying for monies

One identified contributor to women s slower than expected assent into leadership is the persistence of

particular subset of African American women in particular. Quantitative analysis will be used to
ascertain and organize data to offer empirical evidence that supports the claims of low representation
of African American women in Philadelphia leadership roles; however, this qualitative study will
delve into the causality of this phenomenon, and this qualitative study may offer new insights into the

Similarities Between The Tang And Song Dynasty
The historical importance of the term movable type is that it is a printer that can arrange blocks of
individual characters in a frame to make up a page for printing. This was one of the advancements in
the Tang and Song Dynasty. Advancement is gunpowder. Gunpowder leads to the creation of
weapons. The Tang s agriculture also helps them succeed because the new fast ripening rice from
Vietnam can feed the whole population. Also, they promoted trade by guarding the Silk Roads,
relining on ocean trade. Buddhism spread and the Chinese were exposed to Christianity. Also, the
Tang period produced great poets like Li Bo and Tu. During the Song Dynasty, artists were influenced

Over the past centuries, since its discovery in 1749, many archaeologists have contributed to our
understanding of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Archaeologists were initially focused on excavating,
most of which were improperly done causing extensive damage. It wasn t until the 19th century, when
archaeologist Giuseppe Fiorelli introduced new excavation methods; those succeeded him include
August Mau, Vittorio Spinazzola and Amendo Maiuri. Now attention has shifted towards
conservations and restorations which are reflected in the works of Fausto Zevi and Pier Guzzo.

Spinazzola introduced photography to record the stages of his excavation, an example of a
conservation technique. His work enables us to learn about the streetscapes of Pompeii.
Amendo Maiuri grand vision was to reconstruct the entire site to its original appearance. He excavated
right around the walls of Pompeii, uncovering the cemetery as well as significant buildings eg.
insulaes along the via dell Abbondanza, the amphitheatre and the palaestra. Maiuri used mechanical
equipment to clear away debris from earlier excavations and to assist in areas that previously had been
considered too hard to excavate. As part of conservation, Maiuri restored the walls and ceilings and
erected roofs for protection. However, he was criticized for excavations that were done too quickly
with little documentation. Some excavated buildings were unprotected and wall paintings faded
without ever being recorded. However, Maiuri s great enthusiasm for the site and the important
buildings he uncovered, attracted many tourists and made Pompeii well known internationally.
Following 1977, Fausto Zevi halted excavations and started focusing on conservations instead as both
Pompeii and Herculaneum were dying a second death due to improper excavations exposure to natural
elements. Zevi recorded the uncovered buildings and took many photographs, resulting in over 1800
photos.
In 1995, Pier Guzzo oversaw many restoration developments.

The, An American Classical Scholar
In the 20th century Milman Parry, an American classical scholar, began to draw on the work of the
Analysts and Unitarians to establish a hypothesis of an oral Homeric tradition which would prove to
be revolutionary. By observing South Slavic oral poetry first hand, he was able to prove that the
formulaic structure of Homeric epic was characteristic of oral composition. Due to the pressure of
composition in performance, as would have been the norm, he also demonstrated that repeated words
or phrases would have been fundamental in the composition of oral epic poetry. Whether these took
the form of noun epithet formulas, larger formulaic phrases or entire scenes, the mnemonic power
which they created served to make epic poetry entirely possible. Parry defined these formulas as an
expression regularly used, under the same metrical conditions, to express an essential idea . Following
from Lord s assessment of the first 15 lines of the Iliad, he estimated that up to 90% of the total poem
consisted of formulas or contained formulaic elements. While studying those formulas comprising of a
noun and fixed epithet, Parry called attention to the fact that they almost always appeared directly
after the mid verse caesura or after the caesura in the fourth foot and thus conveniently fell into the
cola of the hexameter. Now the poet had a vast library of stock phrases at their disposal which they
could employ whenever the metre required. Such phrases include ( swift footed Achilles ) and

The Perfect Opportunity For Learning
have an opportunity to talk about their ideas. This discussion is the perfect opportunity for learning to
happen. According to Stevens and Slavin (1995) cognitive apprenticeship is elaborated in that,
students of different levels of achievement work together to learn. Students with higher level academic
abilities are able to use their own understanding to explain to the other students, whereas, the lower
students are able to use the explanation from their fellow classmates to understand the material.
Cooperative learning is not always viewed looked as the best teaching method.
Other researchers have shown a disadvantage in group work with regard to teaching students. Slow
learning students may lag behind due to their passive nature or lack of confidence (King, 1993). When
the quick learning students dominate the group and discussions, the lower achieving students may not
feel open and free to contributing in the discussion. In this case, the learning opportunity could pass
them by without anyone noticing the lack of understanding. Other limitations of cooperative learning
is the time required for some groups to work in unity and unable to teach the curriculum in a small
group Cooperative Learning setting (Good, Reys, Grouws, Mulryan, (1989;1990).
2.2 Related Research When referring back to the topic of cooperative learning technique, a lot of
efforts and steps were taken throughout the previous years, and there are still a lot of works that can be
done on it too.

The Grasshopper And The Bell Cricket Symbolism
Franz Kafka, in The Red Indian, uses an Indian as a symbol of freedom, a life without social
constraints. In the story, the narrator longs to be an Indian suddenly vigilant on a galloping horse, until
eventually he loses the spurs and the reins, because he doesn t need them, and the horse s neck and
head vanish (Kafka 64). Essentially, he is saying that he longs for a freedom he does not have. He
wishes to simply ride away from his troubles as an Indian would. No longer bored with the constructs
of a dull society, but vigilant. Another man may ride with spurs and reins, those constraints of society,
but an Indian would be simply unbounded by these things. Thus, the symbol of the Indian is that of
freedom that the narrator longs for. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She also utilizes the lanterns as a symbol for the personalities or things we try to use to obtain such
insects (or people). For instance, Kawabata illustrates the children: Each day [...] the children made
new lanterns out of their hearts and minds. Look at my lantern! Be the most unusually beautiful! (66).
Kawabata shows that when in pursuit of insects, one must try to put on the best front. The first child
who went looking eventually discards his red lantern, because it was too boring. Each day the children
make new ones to try to have the best, just as young adults do when pursuing a partner. We each try to
have the most flashy personality and look. Therefore, the lanterns are a type of mask that the children
put on to find the most attractive bug. The grasshopper, then, is the type of beautiful person one wants
to find, and the bell cricket is the less appealing insect. Kawabata suggests that the bell cricket is the
better bug, for there are not many bell crickets in the world (67). Probably, Kawabata says, you will
find a girl like a grasshopper whom you think is a bell cricket (67). In the end, though, even a true bell
cricket will seem like a grasshopper (Kawabata 68). These sentences seem confusing at first, but
ultimately Kawabata is saying that the person you want may not be what they seem, the person you
find may be more than they appear, and the person you love will be beautiful to you, even if they are
not. In summation, the insects symbolize the types of people or the types of relationships that one may

Isaiah s Testament Prophets Of The Bible
Isaiah is known as one of the greatest Old Testament prophets of the Bible. Isaiah s name means The
Salvation of the Lord . Isaiah lived in Jerusalem. In the book of Isaiah, Isaiah warned his own people
in Judah, Israel, and other nations of the many things that God instructed his followers not to do. In his
Biblical account, Isaiah states that he received visions from God. He states that these visions were
prophecies which were to come true. In his many prophecies, Isaiah foretells of one significant
prophecy, which is the prophecy of Jesus. Isaiah specifically wrote about a child who would have no
human father. This child would be God s faithful servant. Isaiah said that this child would become
king and as king, this child would justly rule. As king, the Holy Spirit would rest upon. Isaiah told that
the people would not accept him as God s servant. Isaiah told his people that when this child was
grown, he would die for us as a sacrifice so that God will forgive us. Then, God s servant would live
again. Everyone must trust him. God will forgive the people who confess their evil deeds to God. So,
God himself will rescue his people.
Jewish tradition holds Isaiah lived under the reigns of four kings of Judah Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and
Hezekiah. During his life, Isaiah was said to have been married to a prophetess, with whom he had
two sons. The two sons were Shear Jashub, whose names means a remnant shall return , and Maher
Shalal Hash Baz, whose name mean speed the

Difference Between Sex and Gender
Amongst the many popular misconceptions in today s society, the in depth differences between sex
and gender has grown to be one that is discussed extensively by psychologists and sociologists too.
Sex in itself is a more scientific term that explains the innate physical attributes of an individual. On
the other hand gender carries a more social tone. Meaning, that it refers to the different clothing,
activities, career choices, and positions people hold in society. This essay aims to highlight some of
the key differential aspects between these two concepts; while the term sex has been well defined over
the years, we learn how the topic of gender managed to rake up an in depth study as well as gain its
own significance in society.

People begin to act in ways that are consistent to their self conception which is considered gratifying.
For example a boy may have the following ideological mind set, I am a boy, therefore I want to do
boy things, therefore the opportunity to do boy things (and to gain approval for doing them) is
rewarding (Kohlberg, 1966, p. 89).
To conclude, sex is the biological factor that differentiates females from males and gender on the other
hand is defined by what society considers right and inculcates in males and females that encouraging
masculinity or femininity. We can support the fact how gender has gained prominence in the world
today through facts such as how gender division of labor in the past was the norm and how it is more
of a misconception in certain cultures now. Gender does have a biological approach as well; scientists
have researched extensively how the formation of chromosomes and furthermore different sex
hormones has an effect on masculine and feminine behavioral characteristics. Along with that,
cognitive development which theorizes self conceptualization to be gratifying and determinant for
males and females is also another facet of gender development in the world today and simply justifies
how gender has extended its presence amongst us.

Russian Weapons In The Middle Ages
Russian warriors in the Middle Ages developed great skills and courage during their massive battles,
which provided them with the respect and fear they desired. Many of their brutal weapons were
unique to Russia, however some originated from their Norse heritage, which they then incorporated
into their own Viking style combat. Some of their infantry skills even evolved from the Mongols after
their invasion in the 13th century. During the Middle Ages, Russian military units had similar armory
to the Byzantine military units. Very rarely did they wear a full suit of armor and were deprived of
protection, but quick maneuvers and mobility required only limited armory. Early Russian forces
relied heavily on their skillful use of weaponry as a force ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bow and arrows were able to be made efficiently and easily, due to one simple material; a single piece
of wood. This special craftsmanship gave a ratnik, or warrior, the ability to pierce a target of over 500
meters away. This particular weapon was based on the Mongol horse archery tactic during the Mongol
Invasion of the Russian states during the 13th century. The Russian cavalry, or those who used bow
and arrows as a main weapon, also carried with them a long curved sword like the shashka, a type of
pike, an axe, or a mace. They always carried multiple weapons at a time in order to be prepared for
any type of battle approach. The early Russians had many unique weapons, including a large war axe,
or bardiche. A pole held a large curved blade, usually 60 80 centimeters long, and was useful in battle
for heavy slashing (Xenophon, 2017). A mace, or bulava, was another weapon that the Russian cavalry
and infantry carried during war. This blunt weapon had a heavy head at the end of a handle, which
gave warriors the ability to distribute powerful blows and penetrate a plate of armor (Wikipedia,
2017). The infantry usually received shorted maces, while the cavalrymen were given longer handles
in order to better attack the enemy on horseback. The Russian soldiers in the Middle Ages were well

Every year more than 90 people die in a traffic related accident each year in the united states. Even
though this country is on the lower end of death rate due to traffic accidents in the world, it is still too

companies feel are likely to lose them money, due to traffic violations such as getting in a crash while

making it impossible to start the car until everyone is buckled. Another way to increase seatbelt usage
would be to increase the police enforcement, specifically during the night. Surveys have shown that
seatbelt usage is 5 10% lower at night. If there is more enforcement during the night, not only would
people not wearing seatbelts be caught more often, but it would increase the likelihood that someone

  • 2. How the Houson Chronicle Forces Readers to Think About the... It is common knowledge that the education system in America needs work and that Texas is not exempt from this need. The Houston Chronicle has published numerous articles on the subject that address both the need for change and show what Houston has done to grow. As The Houston Chronicle releases its media agenda it is not forcing its readers to think a certain way but instead is presenting an issue in order to spark opinion forming thoughts. The articles all share a common thread of attributes that help develop the agenda for the reader. The eventual outcomes for the public differ based on who the reader is and what their current lifestyle is. In most of the articles published by The Houston Chronicle the key attributes that are addressed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The goals of all these articles seems to be getting the general public interested in the education of our youth to help them achieve more in life. Each article presents the problem and follows the steps to develop a solution. These possible solutions serve as the final agenda that The Houston Chronicle hopes the reader will think about and develop an opinion of. As the general public reads these articles there are three primary outcomes that they could have: support, disinterest, or opposition. In Fikac s article covering Davis plan for increased education spending we see the two extreme points of view. Davis with the support of the Democrat party supports increased incentives for qualified students to enter the field of education along with increased pay to teachers who are getting the desired results all while hopefully not increasing the current tax rate. The Republicans argue that Davis math makes little sense and that it is not possible to spend more without increasing taxes. (Fikac, 2014) When the public reads this article the media will have fulfilled their goal of getting the audience to think about the subject. The outcome will be dependent upon the reader s views and expectations of the government in regards to education. The outcome is also dependent on the reader s lifestyle. A person with multiple school age children will be more prone to considering The Houston Chronicles agenda then a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chapter four A Creation Story introduces the Senate Bill 1365 now revised into two laws ARS 15 341 and ARS 15 710, Albert Hale former Navajo Nation president and Arizona State Senator introduced Bill 1365 in 2004. His intentions behind SB 1365 was to eradicate the so called mutual respect between dominant society and Native Americans specifically Dine people. In order for respect to be reciprocal dominant society needs to know who we are as Dine people as well as our history, government, culture and sovereignty. As the bill is transitioning through the process of being approved there were issues the AZ state board did not agree with. They only approved the history to be taught because they keep control of what they want society to know about us. Just like sovereignty as Native Nation we are semi sovereign meaning we do not have all the requirements of a sovereign nation. But the two main powers we exercise is self government, and taxing revenue through gaming. Native American has been a huge part of who we are as Native Nations the Next chapter five Emergence Story discusses in detail the Arizona Revised Statues ARS 15 341 and ARS 15 710 how the different Arizona schools interpreted and their knowledge of the two ARS laws while they were educators. About 60% of those individuals had no knowledge of the Native American social studies standards. The aspect of revenue recognition principle usually holds out that diverse companies should book or record the revenue when it is earned and not when received because the flow of cash in the company or firm does not have any relation to the revenue recognition. In this situation, it is well known as the principle of accrual basis accounting. On the other hand, however, the losses should be fully recognized or realized when their occurrence becomes presumably, whether it has occurred or not occurred. This comports with the restraint of conservatism, yet brings it into conflict with the constraint of consistency, in that reflecting revenues or the gains is inconsistent with the way in which losses are reflected (Ammons). From the Hispanic cultures in South and Central America, to the Caribbean islands, and also to the various exotic African countries, and even to the distinguished cultures that reside in the continent of Asia. In the course of his discovery of the meaning of life he decides to hopefully help those in pain and sufferings find their meaning as well. The book entails tragedy and extreme misfortune in Auschwitz concentration camp as a captive; yet through this pain and suffering is where Viktor Frankl originated his will to persevere and psychological techniques for survival. Throughout Viktor E. Frankl s book Man s Search for Meaning mental, physical, and emotional torture and attack impressed on the prisoners in the Auschwitz concentration camp was a regular and familiar topic. The accompanying guards kept shouting at us and driving us with the butts of their rifles. Anyone with very sore feet supported himself on his neighbor s arm. Hardly a word was spoken; the icy wind did not encourage talk. Suk Choo (1997) found that individuals from East Asian cultures develop anxiety related more to offending others, compared with individuals from Western cultures, who develop anxiety related to fear of being scrutinized by others. Culture and ethnicity are important variables in group therapy because they set up norms and positions of power, and can both enhance and distance a group (Gladding, 2012). Groups often replicate cultural norms members practice outside of the group. Within the group, members can use their cultural differences to enhance group growth and effectiveness, and apply what they have experienced and learned to their lives outside of group (i.e., social microcosm; Gladding, 2012). The, An American Classical Scholar In the 20th century Milman Parry, an American classical scholar, began to draw on the work of the Analysts and Unitarians to establish a hypothesis of an oral Homeric tradition which would prove to be revolutionary. By observing South Slavic oral poetry first hand, he was able to prove that the formulaic structure of Homeric epic was characteristic of oral composition. Due to the pressure of composition in performance, as would have been the norm, he also demonstrated that repeated words or phrases would have been fundamental in the composition of oral epic poetry. Whether these took the form of noun epithet formulas, larger formulaic phrases or entire scenes, the mnemonic power which they created served to make epic poetry entirely possible. Parry defined these formulas as an expression regularly used, under the same metrical conditions, to express an essential idea . Following from Lord s assessment of the first 15 lines of the Iliad, he estimated that up to 90% of the total poem consisted of formulas or contained formulaic elements. While studying those formulas comprising of a noun and fixed epithet, Parry called attention to the fact that they almost always appeared directly after the mid verse caesura or after the caesura in the fourth foot and thus conveniently fell into the cola of the hexameter. Now the poet had a vast library of stock phrases at their disposal which they could employ whenever the metre required. Such phrases include ( swift footed Achilles ) and ... Cooperative learning is not always viewed looked as the best teaching method. Other researchers have shown a disadvantage in group work with regard to teaching students. Slow learning students may lag behind due to their passive nature or lack of confidence (King, 1993). When the quick learning students dominate the group and discussions, the lower achieving students may not feel open and free to contributing in the discussion. In this case, the learning opportunity could pass them by without anyone noticing the lack of understanding. For instance, Kawabata illustrates the children: Each day [...] the children made new lanterns out of their hearts and minds. Look at my lantern! Be the most unusually beautiful! (66). Kawabata shows that when in pursuit of insects, one must try to put on the best front. The first child who went looking eventually discards his red lantern, because it was too boring. Each day the children make new ones to try to have the best, just as young adults do when pursuing a partner. We each try to have the most flashy personality and look. Therefore, the lanterns are a type of mask that the children put on to find the most attractive bug. The grasshopper, then, is the type of beautiful person one wants to find, and the bell cricket is the less appealing insect. In the book of Isaiah, Isaiah warned his own people in Judah, Israel, and other nations of the many things that God instructed his followers not to do. In his Biblical account, Isaiah states that he received visions from God. He states that these visions were prophecies which were to come true. In his many prophecies, Isaiah foretells of one significant prophecy, which is the prophecy of Jesus. Isaiah specifically wrote about a child who would have no human father. Difference Between Sex and Gender Amongst the many popular misconceptions in today s society, the in depth differences between sex and gender has grown to be one that is discussed extensively by psychologists and sociologists too. Sex in itself is a more scientific term that explains the innate physical attributes of an individual. On the other hand gender carries a more social tone. Meaning, that it refers to the different clothing, activities, career choices, and positions people hold in society. To conclude, sex is the biological factor that differentiates females from males and gender on the other hand is defined by what society considers right and inculcates in males and females that encouraging masculinity or femininity. We can support the fact how gender has gained prominence in the world today through facts such as how gender division of labor in the past was the norm and how it is more of a misconception in certain cultures now.
